Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal but encouraged.
It's the enhanced games.
Some call it grotesque.
Others say it's unleashing human potential.
Either way, the podcast's superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year.

Welcome to Hour 2 of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage.
Now here's Matt Jones.
Waterback, hour number two, Kentucky Sports Radio, 8559-280-2287 here at Shady
Rays in Louisville.
Great crowds.
It's been awesome to see everybody out here.
They now have prescription sunglasses.
Old Man Lemon here got some prescription sunglasses from Shady Ray.
You know, I noticed all the ladies kind of checking me out.
Now I know why, because I got these prescriptions sunglasses.
You know what those look like?
It just hit me.
Who wears sunglasses like that?
That's Joe Biden.
That's exactly right.
He is wearing Joe Biden's sunglasses.
Hey, hey, hey, hey.
Hey, my sister lost more.
You are exactly right.
Those are Joe Biden's sunglasses.
I'm just, I'm just an old board from Scranton.
Those are thick, too.
Those are old models.
That's exactly right.
899-2-80-2287.
One person right wrote last night.
Matt, did you go to any?
sporting events in South Africa.
So while I was there, their little rugby team, the Springboks played a big game.
So I went to a bar and watched it.
That was awesome.
But I did go to a South African soccer game, one of their pro leagues, the Orlando Pirates,
which is one of their big teams.
It was, and I'm not just saying this, Drew, this is not an exaggeration.
This is not Matt hyperbole.
It was the wildest scene I've ever been in.
in my entire life, bar none, and I don't think they'll ever be one topic.
An absolute, yeah.
What made it I don't.
What made it crazy?
In the atmosphere, it was awesome.
And again, like sports fans, like college basketball fans, we can have good student sections,
but we got nothing for overseas soccer.
The singing, the dancing, it's just a whole other thing.
But it was wild.
getting into the stadium in the middle of Soweto at night.
Let's just say scanning tickets through is optional.
So there's not like a clear bag policy.
There's no clear bag policy.
There's not even a get through the gates policy.
There's not a policy.
There is a, if you can get in, you are in.
And I go, and it was supposed to be me, one of the local gods,
and my tour guy.
It was going to be a bros night out, right?
Because I've been around eight women for 11 straight days.
And it was going to be me and these two locals.
And it was just going to be the three of us.
And then some of the women in the group were like, we want to go.
And you can't sit there and say, no, you all can't go.
So they win.
And they were lovely.
But it led to chaos because soccer in South Africa, unbeknownst to me,
pretty much only men go.
Right? Had it just been me, I would have been the only, literally, in 30,000 people,
I would have been the only white person there. We now had five, but they were all with our group.
Right. And it was awesome, but it was chaos. And you walk through the front entrance. There's only one entrance.
There's not a southwest, southeast, northwest, northeast. It is one entrance. And they have to,
have tickets, but tickets like KSR, facts are optional because tickets are optional.
People are just jumping through the gates.
People are trying to push in.
I looked down at one point, and there was like a seven-year-old boy wrapped around my leg
trying to have me, like, carry him in on my leg.
You think I'm kidding.
I am not kidding.
He was on my leg.
And you know what?
I kind of appreciated the day.
tenacity. I was going to let him just because there were so many people. It was a mob of people
that the ticket takers were just trying to keep people from jumping over the thing. They weren't
looking down. And I was going to just drag this kid in with me on my leg. And then he got kind of
detached and he ended up not, he snuck in somewhere else. But trying to take those women through
the crowd and trying to get through there. And you know, I'm like the biggest person in the country.
For whatever reason, there's not a lot of tall people in South Africa.
I think other parts of Africa have more tall people.
Not a lot of tall people there.
So I can see over everything.
And I'm like, this is chaos.
But it was awesome.
But I'm not going to act like for about 10 minutes.
Your boy, Matt, was not a little nervous.
I would have been fine for myself.
But then having those women and kind of feeling like, Ryan,
I needed to protect them, even though I probably didn't.
but I kind of felt like I needed to.
We had local guides with us.
I could see in their face that they were like,
we need to get out of these scenes,
and it was just a lot.
And it was awesome,
but it was one of those.
Next time I hear people go,
man, it's crazy down at LSU in a football game.
I'm going to say, well, it's crazy,
but I've seen a different kind of crazy.
What you got through the entrance?
It was fine.
What you got in?
It was fine.
They don't have,
it's a 40,000-seat stadium.
No, like,
seats you don't have a sign seating
get in where you fit in
you know you take the seat
whoever gets there that's who sits there
which I kind of I kind of appreciate
but it leads to a mad dash
for tickets for seats as well
I was about to ask is it like Cedric the Entertainer
like seats four and five that's me get up you don't have to move people around
no they just find your spot
you find your spot that's your spot and that's where you're going to sit
30 to 40,000 men and five women I could imagine
you got a lot of attention walking around with a group of five women.
A lot of attention.
A lot of whistling.
Yeah.
A lot of attention.
And some of the people in our group had decided they would drink a little bit before.
The expression hurting cats when you're trying to keep a group of people together.
And everybody's like, look, a flag.
And then they go running out.
Come back here.
And then you've got to go get your hoodie from the gift shop.
I need you to come back over here.
We're trying to stay together, like quite a seat.
Did the home team win?
They won, and it was awesome.
I mean, the singing and the dancing.
Like, they have songs for every single thing that happens.
And, like, I was singing them.
I didn't even know, like, it was the language.
But it didn't matter.
Once it got going, it was awesome.
And, by the way, no real parking.
You just streets, people just, like, drop people off.
you know when we left i said where how we get home and he was like we'll we'll get in a van and then
we did so what you're saying is the atmosphere was nothing like crogerfield at all i think you're
okay can we take some of those traditions i will say the tradition of you sit down where like first
come first serve yeah that may not help our donors but it creates a better atmosphere because the
people who want to be in it they're down there next to the field and they're going they're being
loud while you're out they sent out a survey asking for help of croaker field fans what would you like to
added. I think you should suggest
no tickets, no
admission, just let everybody in
and find a seat. I guarantee
you you'd get a better atmosphere. All right,
UK basketball. They announced
yesterday six games this year
Ryan on the computer. Six
games on the computer. Big Blue Madness
what the UK Georgetown
exhibition game is on
the computer, which surprised me.
And then all parts of the BBN
or whatever we're calling the BBN classic
and then the game against Bellarmine.
Six computer games.
In years past, we've had one or two.
Ryan, now we have six.
Yeah, we met the new play-by-play guy.
He came to the KS Bar.
I can't remember his name, Noah maybe, or something like that.
What I mean new play-by-play guy?
They got to play-by-play.
They got to do these games on the computer.
You know, the streaming games?
And you met him?
Yeah, he came into the restaurant.
I thought you were there that day.
What are you talking about?
Tom Leach.
Not the radio guy.
No, for their TV streaming.
Oh, okay.
I was like, did Tom Leach get fired while I was going?
No.
A lot of big news why you were there.
Oh, so you're saying the guy to do the computer game?
Yes, yeah.
And it's just a random guy?
He's a permanent employee now for a UK.
I think you remember last year they had the campus.
They brought this other guy, and he's going to do like softball and some other games.
What's his name?
I have to look it up.
Okay, well, that sounds like he made a great impression on you.
But besides the new play-by-play guy that you met but don't remember,
what do you think, Drew, about the fact that six games are on the computer?
I've already heard about it from a lot of fans.
I've gotten used to it and I expected to be a lot.
Six still seems very high when the fan base is still figure it out.
There are people who literally don't have that option.
So I hate that it's so many.
But as we've seen, they've been giving us just a little more each year for several years.
We knew it was heading this direction.
Good for KS. Barr.
We'll be filled those games because people won't, if they don't have the access to get it,
that'll be the only way they can see it.
They do get the blue-white game this year you'll get to watch.
Last year, if you remember, it was not on streaming.
You had to like, well, I don't know.
I don't remember how you could watch it.
There were people sitting there, but they didn't show the game.
It was really expensive to get in.
It was really expensive now.
You get to see the game.
But this is going to continue happening.
I mean, Shannon.
I mean, there are NBA games this year.
They're only on the computer.
Like, this is going to continue to have.
It is.
Like Drew said, I feel like they're just inching each year more and more towards eight, you know, probably next year.
I wouldn't be surprised if they had that many.
And then, you know, you look at the NFL.
If you want to watch NFL games, you've got to have Amazon Prime.
You've got to have Netflix.
You've got to have all these different streaming services just to be able to watch the game.
And I feel like college.
basketball is probably going in that direction.
The only thing it makes me, like, my question, though, is only what is the SEC network
showing on a Tuesday night in November that's better than having a UK basketball?
They still never use that alternate channel.
They've never used.
But, I mean, used to be all those games would be on the SEC network when we played Tennessee Tech.
What are they showing, Drew, on a Tuesday night at 7 o'clock in November that's better than
UK's basketball game?
I don't understand.
Like, what's going to be on?
I really don't know.
I mean, I know some of our computer games are the BBN United Tipoff Classic presented by Kentucky Tourism.
I know we're all very excited about that.
What are they going to have, like, volleyball on or a softball replay or show another school?
It's BBN.
What's it called?
It's the BBN United Tip-off Classic presented by Kentucky Tourism, and we're going to run the table on that damn thing.
I cannot wait, but it is part of the streaming package.
Sounds like an exciting event.
Last year, I'm the only one that tried to make something of the BBN invitational.
I asked the players why they didn't cut down the nets.
They looked at me like I had five heads.
But this year we're going to win the BBN United Tenth off classic presented by Kentucky tourism.
And I hate that it's not on TV.
Well, at least they're getting their money's worth.
I was surprised Kentucky Georgetown, like the real Georgetown.
The exhibition game, I was surprised as a computer game.
Well, they're trying to, you know, get people to buy those subscriptions, right?
So they're going to strut it out and try to get as much money out of our pockets as they possibly can.
How many of you all, just out of curiosity, how many of you have access to that service?
Raise your hand.
I mean, that's a lot smaller than you think.
I mean, I honestly thought that was going to be like 70 or 80 percent.
It was like 30 or 40.
I mean, that actually shows you, though, Ryan.
I mean, you are, when you decide to do that,
you are taking the game away from a significant amount of your fans.
I think just gambling that they're going to maybe people tune in,
watch and play Purdue, get excited about the team,
and then subscribe to get that Georgetown game.
I mean, yeah, I guess that's what you're hoping.
open for, but I mean, we've had a lot of, if, Shannon,
I don't think if I was going to just changes their mind all this.
Yeah, I mean, we've had a lot of games on there over the years.
If they haven't subscribed yet, then they're probably not in some ways, you know?
Probably not going to, but like you said, the good thing about it has come to KS.
Barweb. We have our games on there. It's good for our business.
We had Richie and Buck on earlier this week, and Buck was talking about this,
like how upset it makes his dad, like, this is the state school, but you've got to have
11 apps and pay all this money just to support, you know, the local team you've watched since
That's a really good point.
Basketball team's been working out.
I can tell you, I got one, normally I text to get information in the text
machine, so I'm a little dry out information, except I did email.
Wow.
Mitch Barnhart?
Mitch Barnhart?
Yes.
I had to grandpa an email for some information and got it last night.
A source telling me, Drew, basketball team in practice could not be more excited in
terms of how they look. As they said, as one person said to me, when the season starts,
we're probably about on the level of the season starts we had last year, but that this team's
upside was, quote, infinitely higher than the teams last year. They knew last year they had a ceiling
that was going to be like what they were. This one, they think the ceiling is significantly
higher. Yeah, I keep hearing about depth. Like, you know, who knows if there'll be a national
championship contender, but the floor is very, very high. I mean, they're going to be good,
regardless.
They're going to be good.
They have so many pieces.
And then another thing that keeps coming out is last year at this time.
It was they look good.
Pope's a good coach, but do they have an NBA talent?
This year seems to be several, you know, potential guys.
They stuff to go out and do it.
But a lot of guys that are on NBA draft boards on this roster.
All year last year, I would say, I love this team, and I did love them.
And they're great and they're awesome.
But there's no NBA player.
And I took a lot of heat for that over the year.
There really wasn't.
I mean, Bray and Amari might make their teams, but they're not.
There are NBA players on this year's team.
They may not make it next year,
but there are multiple guys who can play in the NBA,
and I think you've got to have at least a couple of those
if you're going to win.

Welcome back. It is Kentucky Sports Radio.
Wow.
Liam's bringing the music here, Shannon, isn't he?
What do we got here?
Who is this?
What is this?
Ricky Skaggs, the old home place.
There you go.
A little Ricky Skaggs.
Liam. Liam, getting some Ricky Skaggs in here.
It's Kentucky Sports Radio 859-2-80-202.
We haven't opened up the phones.
I don't know if we'll get to it or not.
We'll see we've got a lot of stuff going on.
We do have some breaking news, Liam.
Do you have the button?
It's breaking news.
There you go.
All right.
Drew just saw this.
Billy Gillespie has been put on administrative leave by Tarleton State for an unnamed violation.
He will not be coaching.
And in the interim, during his time, is a name more familiar with.
Glenn Cyprian, former assistant coach with Billy Gillespie here at Kentucky.
will be the coach while Billy is on administratively.
Yeah, it says they're investigating a complaint.
Well, I mean, not that.
Unfortunately, I probably have a guess.
Might not be great for Billy there.
Yeah, I'm sorry to hear that.
The past was Cyprian stepping in for him.
Sorry to hear that.
You know, Billy's been obviously a troubled guy for a while,
and I wish him nothing but prayers and success.
But I'm sorry to hear that.
That's tough news for a guy who's, you know, been up and down a lot.
And then a little switching directions would stand with the Billy's staff.
Wasn't Alvin Brooks on his staff?
I think when he first was getting started.
Yeah, he was back at UK practice for young Alvin Brooks just earlier this week.
Can we just take a second, sir?
I know you and I talked about this to give a little shout out to my Reds,
who waited until I got out of the country.
Oh, come on.
You could do better than that for the real.
Listen, they made the playoffs.
Everybody put your brooms down in class, did they?
They did make the playoffs.
Thanks for coming.
It was very quick.
It was a quick time.
But you know what?
They made it.
The games would be in the middle of the night, so I wouldn't really get to see them.
But I would wake up and be like, oh, they beat the Cubs again.
Oh, they beat the Cubs again.
Oh, they beat the Cubs again.
Oh, we may have a chance to make it.
And then I watched the final game.
We lost, but then the Mets choked it away.
Here's what was amazing, Shannon.
We ended up getting the tiebreaker over the Mets because of a game that I
attended. Oh, really?
Yes. You had a small part in this. In July,
they played the Mets up in New York.
Okay? I was there.
I was watching a guy
named Frank the Tank.
You all may see, he's on bar stool, right?
He's this, we met him in, you know, Frank.
He was complaining, he's a Mets fan. He was
complaining about their season, and he said, we
lost the season July 18th versus the Ritz.
And all his co-hosts were laughing
at him, like July 18th. But he's
right, because I was at that game. The
game was tied. They brought in this dude who they had just gotten for the minor leagues to pitch.
He walked the first three guys. Then he gave up three straight home runs to the Reds.
Everyone was booing. They're like, why is he in? I stood up and gave him a round of applause as he
walked out of the game, and they ended up, and the Reds won that game, which gave them the tiebreaker,
Shannon, so that when they tied, they were able to make it. And I felt like I had a little piece of it
because then I didn't get to see any of it during the two weeks ago. It was a great choke job by the New
York Mets getting the Reds in.
Now that you didn't get to see them, I mean, do you at least want to go back and watch it on,
like, YouTube and feel like they're in the playoffs?
I would watch the highlights every morning.
I really like when was his name, John Sadek, the play-by-play guy on the, I like, he gets so
excited.
So I did enjoy it.
I hated that if there had been a home playoff game and I missed it, I'd been upset,
but obviously I didn't have to do that.
But, yeah, it was still from afar, Ryan, exciting to watch him make it.
I got two things I want to ask you about.
One, it came out after Hunter Green got rocked that he was tipping off his pitches.
He did that earlier this year against him.
We were talking about this on the show.
That frustrates me because he tipped it off against the Dodgers and got rocked the last time.
So if he didn't fix that, that's on him.
He should have fixed that.
The other thing is, you know, the baseball fans are saying, you know, you left the country and UK baseball went to the World Series.
You left the country and the Red Winter playoffs.
Will you please leave the country from March Madness this year?
It would save us a road trip to like San Francisco or someplace like.
That's rude, Drew, for them to say.
But that is true.
I guess my two baseball teams both did make a run when I was gone.
That's right.
I know you don't want a moral victory, but, I mean, the fact that they made the playoffs had to have been pretty fun.
You don't get it very often.
You get the excitement for a few days.
Sure, it was short-lived, but, hell, my team was a World Series favorite, and we didn't even make the playoffs.
I'm excited about the future.
I mean, for Reds fans, we've got a good staff, good rotation that'll be together for at least the next three or four years with Green, Lodolo,
Abbott, Chase Burns.
Ellie tapered off as the year went on, but had a decent year.
I love Marte, the young kid.
I like Key Bride.
We need Matt McLean not to stink.
But if you can go get one more good, really good bat and get McLean not to be so bad anymore,
then I think they can make the playoffs and be good, Ryan, next year.
You mentioned my favorite player, T.J. Friedel, man.
He's been good.
He's been really good.
They need a power hitter.
They need one big power hitter.
I feel like if they had that, they would go from, I think they had 83 wins or 84 wins.
I think you'd get up into the 90s if they had one Shannon Power hitter.
They need one.
Yeah, they're missing just a couple of pieces.
But, I mean, that is enough to get you to renew your season tickets for next year, right?
You're excited about next season.
I'm going to.
I think I will.
I think next year, next year's the pitching staff gives them a chance in every game.
And so that's exciting for me to see.
Did you all, did you watch any of the games while I was on?
I've watched every baseball playoff game that has been played this week.
I've been locked into baseball.
Did you see last night the Yankees and the Red Sox played?
He was right after my playing Atlanta.
The Red Sox looked to be starting a 13-year-old in that game last night.
Did you see that kid?
He had just been in the majors for like two months, and he looked like a child.
I mean, he looked like a child in Shannon.
He's been in the major two months.
He's starting the clinching game, Yankees, Red Sox in the playoffs?
at Yankee Stadium?
I can't even imagine.
Unfortunately, they gave them zero run support,
so it's kind of hard to win when you don't have any support.
And then the other guy broke the all-time Yankees record.
He, too, was a rookie, broke the all-time Yankees record for strikeouts.
That's crazy to me.
Playoffs have been great.
They really have.
I mean, even the Tigers and Indians, that was a –
Talk about a meltdown.
The Detroit Lions having a 15-and-a-half-game lead and then blowing it to the Guardians.
But they ended up getting the series.
Also, while you were gone,
could have used your Beth Page score in the Router Cup. We needed you out there.
Oh, yeah. So, yeah, talk about this for the Rider Cup for a second. You're a big golf guy.
Look like not only did our team choke, but our fans. What a bad performance by our fans. You can't be throwing stuff at people's wives.
On Friday, I was playing up to Shannon. I was like, you would love the Riter Cup because you actually get to cheer and heckle a little bit.
You didn't mention that I get to throw beer at people.
But on Monday, I was like, we went too far, Shannon. That's not how it is actually supposed to be.
You know, there's rumors out there about Rory that might not even be true,
but they're yelling that at him and his wife, throwing the stuff,
just a lot of, like, FUs, which at least be creative and be patriotic.
I saw that the woman who was the MC led a chant of blank you, Rory, over the microphone.
Yeah, she got in trouble.
I would think so.
I think she'd get fired.
How in the world did they let that happen?
I don't know.
I mean, I'm all for USA, USA, Y, Y, A, Y'A, yelling.
a few things. Sure, yell, you choke Europeans, you know, stuff like that, but we were way out of
bounds. Anybody who travels knows. Well, all right, we'll talk about it. We've got to take a break.
We'll be right back. This is Kentucky Sports Radio.
T.J. Smith, personal injury attorney. Call T.J., he'll make them pay.
Now, more Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. Here's Matt Jones.
Welcome back. It is Kentucky Sports Radio.
Liam, your music choices, entertain me.
Is this Vern Gosden?
Who is this?
Don Williams.
Don't expect to hear Don Williams today here at Shady Ray's.
Buy one.
If you buy two sunglasses here in the next 30 minutes and right after the show,
50% off the entire purchase here at Shady Ray's in Louisville.
They got Shadyrays.com and one in Lexington.
From the last night, Instagram questions.
What person writes, Matt?
What about the food in South Africa?
Pretty normal stuff.
I have a new thing I like, though, and if any Lexington or Louisville restaurant will start serving it, you will have a regular customer in me.
I guess we have a restaurant, so in theory, we could do that as well.
Perry Perry sauce.
Have you ever had that?
What is?
Have you ever heard of it?
P-E-R-I-P-E-R-I.
It's like this flavor of sauce you can put on chicken and stuff.
It is the best.
I'm addicted to it.
Apparently there's a chain in America called Nandoes that serves that.
We don't have that in Kentucky, so I didn't know that it existed.
But I'm not going to put out a franchise.
One restaurant is plenty.
But if anybody ever does, I will be at you.
Drew, you would like it.
It's our kind of taste.
It's really good.
We'll get Monique an assignment to try to copycat it for special.
If we put Perry Perry on wings, that's not a bad idea at all.
Like the Bobby Perry Perry?
Bobby Perry sauce, that's right.
One of the things you always talk about when you come on your trips is the food.
What is it like in South Africa?
It's all right.
It's not like when you think of African cuisine, that's not really how it is in South Africa.
South Africa's got a strong, like, European influence.
So the food is not what I would love to have in other parts of Africa, but it's still good.
But it's not quite as spicy in all the things that I was like hoping it would be.
That's not really what they do.
A lot of Indian food there, which I do like.
But, yeah, that was kind of that.
On cover zero this week where we were feeling.
without you, we had a big conversation about
traveling without a phone.
We thought about being there, but like
the airport boarding pass.
Hard. What do you just stare at the seat
I just want you to think about
your phone for a second because
I did not realize
how much of our life. Forget about
just scrolling, like doom scrolling.
Just think about how much of your life
is now online. So let me just use for me.
Without having my phone,
I'm locked out.
Every social media app, in order for me
log into it from my computer. I had to log in. They now all send two-step
verifications and send it to your phone. I couldn't get the text messages,
which means couldn't check my bank account, couldn't check, like couldn't check
social media. Uber, locked out of Uber. So now you don't have an Uber.
So when you go somewhere, you don't know how to get back, you get to the airport.
You don't have a boarding pass, right? You don't get updates on where your,
where your flight is. When you go out and
I'm old school.
I'm having to go up to people and say,
well, you call me a cab, please.
Like, I couldn't even call a cab.
I had to ask someone else to call me a cab.
Thankfully, I had turned on the setting on my iPad
before I left that allowed me to get eye messages to my iPad.
Otherwise, let's just say I didn't have my iPad.
Yeah.
I don't know what I would have done.
I don't know anybody's phone number.
Do you know people's phone numbers?
No.
I don't know.
I don't know any of your phone numbers.
I don't know my mom's cell phone number.
The only phone number I know in my life is my mom's home phone because it was the same phone we had when I was a child.
That would have been the only phone number I could have called.
And even then I would have had to borrow a phone from someone else and make a phone call.
And, of course, when I met people in South Africa, you can't just go up to a stranger and go,
Hey, can I make an international call from your phone?
Like, you can't do that.
Right.
So if I hadn't had that I message thing, I don't really know what I would.
And when you went out in public, did you carry around your iPad?
No.
I mean, you can't walk around with your iPad when you go places.
I guess you could.
So, I mean, no, I just walked around, you know, naked.
Well, not naked, but naked.
Makes you feel like you're naked.
Electronically naked everywhere I went.
There's one other number you know.
You could have called 859-2-8-8-7.
That's right.
They were just surprised.
It's like, guys, I need your help.
I've been trying to get in touch with America all night.
That's a great point.
Called during the show, Shannon would answer, go, Shannon, when you tell my mom, I'm okay.
Yeah, I could have relayed that message for you.
It's true.
Same thing with email.
Couldn't get into my email.
Because on email, it was a verification, and it would send a text to my phone.
And I couldn't get it.
So, like, I couldn't log on to anything at all.
So much of our life is just tied into our phone.
And you take it for granted.
you don't think about it until you run into a situation like yours. You do not think about it and then you're gone.
What about Paul Feimbaum says he may run for Senate?
Shannon, I wanted your take on that because I know you're a huge Paul Feinbaum fan.
Well, I know there's a requirement in politics. You've got to be at least 80 years old before they'll take you in.
So he fits that requirement.
You know, I was thinking maybe the KSR could slide into the SEC network and take over his spot.
Well, see, here's what I thought your reaction was going to be.
What's that?
You probably don't care who the senator for Alabama is going to be.
But now you might get a show on the SEC network that you actually might lie.
You might be replaced by somebody exciting.
Or you can do the replacing.
Because God knows this show isn't exciting.
It's like eating a dry salad with no dressing.
No croutons either.
Just lettuce.
That's the Paul Fine Bomb Show.
Dry salad, no dressing, no croutons.
Yes, a bowl of lettuce.
That's Paul Pinebaum.
could we get Fondbaum versus Pearl?
Is this setting up?
Oh, my gosh.
That would be hilarious.
Isn't that kind of what it would be?
Here's what's funny about Paul Foy.
And listen,
it would be hypocritical of me as somebody who like sports
who's dabbled in politics to say he shouldn't do it.
He should do whatever he wants.
Same thing with Bruce Pearl.
Do it every want.
But what's hilarious to me is watch these people I know
just completely flip in order to,
to get public approval.
Fimbab is a liberal, and he has been forever.
And now he wants to represent it,
and all of a sudden he's a conservative.
In 2016, I remember having conversations with Fibbomb,
I won't share them because they were private,
but about Trump.
And now he said, if Trump calls me, I'll run.
Like, what?
What?
What are you doing?
Like, you're, it's just, it is hilarious to me
to watch the people who just like,
the public thing is so important to them,
that they will just flip everything.
I hope he runs.
It'll be funny.
Hopefully his callers will come to his town halls and just start yelling.
Sounds like he's a perfect politician then.
That's true.
Also, you mentioned the calls.
It's good for his constituents.
He will take their calls and hear them out and let them talk.
It's just let them say whatever they want as long as they want.
That's true.
He'll have a town hall and he'll just hand the microphone to the person, just sit back.
Sit back and let him talk for five minutes.
All right, great call.
Next call, Shannon.
Here's Phyllis.
But now you might get, who knows?
Shannon, maybe they'll even ask us now to replace it.
Well, you're still banned, so I don't know if you get to be on there, right?
Well, I've been banned from the show or the network. Which one is it?
I've been on the network.
Okay. So you're good there.
Listen, Paul's been, in all seriousness, I based this entire gig, this entire thing, this entire network,
the entire idea of what KSR the radio show was. I based it on what Fimbombs set up in Alabama.
Before he was on the SEC network, Fimbombs set up this model in
Alabama, where basically you had one station and then you took a lot of affiliates and you
essentially just, it was a fan-based show.
Now, he's very different than me, but like the whole thing, and I went down there and I met
with him and we talked about how you did it, and he's been a great help to me over the years.
So I genuinely like Paul Feinbaum.
With that said, when the SEC Network, somebody at Missouri got mad, he didn't really take up
for me. He would say that he was taken up for me, and then he really didn't. And then I later
found out that it flipped, and the SEC network was cool with us, and then he just didn't want
to have me on, which is totally his right. It's his show. I wish him nothing but success.
But I do think it would be kind of exciting, Drew, to have a different show there, even if it
wasn't us, just something else. Because the sort of him just staring into the camera for hours,
it might be nice to see something else. Yeah, and the callers were fun and it was due to all.
all of us who hadn't followed forever, but now it is kind of the same people yelling at each other
over and over when I turn it on.
The only time to ever catch it is after an Alabama loss, which luckily in the new era,
we've gotten a little more than we did in the past.
Ryan, you were never a fan when I made you listen on the road.
Whether you like that boring radio show or not, it is a success story as far as sports radio
goes, but it is a boring, awful show to try to get you for four hours.
The callers are what makes it.
Four hours.
It is four hours.
That's a long time.
Tell me about Stock to mortgage.
Stock to mortgage.
you know, rates have dropped a little bit.
So the real estate market has really picked up in the last couple months or so.
So if you're thinking about you've been on the fence and you've been waiting for the time,
now might be the right time.
Get that closing in before the winter hits.
So Stockton Mortgage can help you all every step of the way.
There's Stockton Mortgages all over Kentucky.
There's a bunch of them here.
As a matter of fact, our corporate offices are located here in Louisville.
So give them a call.
And go on the website, Stockton.com, NMLS, 8259, Equal Housing.
We're excited when the interest rates dropped, I thought of you.
Because you were like, now, here we go.
Me and my Joe Biden's sunglasses, I'll be able to start selling house.
I actually had to put my realtor hat on in the past month or so
because it's been a little busy the last couple weeks, so yeah.
Wow.
So maybe if I knew a friend, maybe he was looking for a house in Lexington,
maybe been shopping for about four years.
Maybe now's the time to get off that.
He has been looking for a long time, hasn't it?
Well, when I find it, though, then we'll be ready to go.
We'll take a break.
Come back.

of IHart Women's Sports. Welcome back, final segment here at Kentucky Sports Radio on my return
show. I will be
hopefully don't have to miss a day from now until
March. I don't have one plan, knock on wood,
but hopefully without a sickness or something won't have to do that. So I'm
excited to be back. A couple things here at Shady Race. First of all, thank you
the woman who made me the, is that, was that a blanket or a throw?
Either. Well, you made it. Which one do you?
All right, I'll just call it a blanket who knit it. It is
wonderful. A Kentucky one. Thank you.
you very much for doing that. That is very, very sweet.
Also, tomorrow, game is at noon. We're going to have it at KS. Bar.
Please come visit KS. Bar this weekend. Come before the Eric Church concert tonight. We'll have
stuff going the game tomorrow or after to watch the games or Sunday. Love to have you all out
there. We haven't had some home games in a while, so come see us. And then next week,
Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, we will be there for the show. But we'd love to have you
come out to KS Bar this weekend, come say hi to everybody before we get to Big Blue Madness Saturday.
Third, and I wanted to note this, this happened while I was gone right after I left.
I want to note the passing of our friend, Manny Robertson.
He's somebody who's been a friend of mine for a long, long time.
He was part of the owner of group of the place next door to us, but has been in our lives and people in Lexington for a long time.
That happened right before I left.
I hated I had to miss his funeral, but his...
brother scottie is a good friend of ours and he also uh huge UK fan I mean if you watch
UK you've probably seen you probably saw him in the crowd sometimes just a few rows up cheering
but I also want to say to him he or say to his family everybody knows he was a great friend to
the people he was friends with one of whom is standing next to me you know you got a hope in life
you have somebody that's as loyal to you as man he was to his friends Aaron Fleener who's our
friend who's a caddy with J.T. Posting. He traveled all over the world to go cheer that guy on
in golf tournaments, the U.S. Open, the British Open with our friend Kent Bull when he played.
Manny would be there cheering him. I've watched him over the years how good he was to Drew specifically,
one of maybe Drew's best friend as an adult. And I know it was difficult on you, Drew, but I wanted
to say, God bless Manny, God bless his family, no bigger UK fan. And to me, for you,
For people, there was no better way to be a friend than the way Manny Robertson was a friend to people.
Thank you very much for saying that.
We all love Manny.
I got a chance to talk a little bit about them on this show.
You can get me teared up.
I thought I was going to cry tomorrow watching Kentucky football playing Georgia.
But you got me in my feelings here.
You mentioned Fleener.
They're playing their first tournament right now since Manny passed.
They're wearing Manny ribbons.
And last I saw they're in fifth.
So maybe Manny can pull them to a win.
That would be pretty magical.
But yeah, we're missing them pretty bad.
not going to get easy for a while, but we're trying to just focus on the good times and how
lucky we were. Well, one of the things Mani would always talk to me about when it was time was he wanted
to talk about the gambling for the weekend. So we might as well, in honor, Mani, do it right now.
Draft King's Sportsbook. Promocode is KSR. While I was gone, you all hit another KSR party.
So we are now, that's two for the year. If you bet them all, you would have money.
Even if we lose every single one from now till the end of the year, you would come out in positive.
So everything else is just a bonus now that we've hit two.
But let's go ahead and do it.
I'll pick mine first since I wasn't part of the last one.
I'm going to take, well, which one did I want?
Miami.
But what was the other one that came up in a minute later?
Clemson at North Carolina.
Yeah, I'll stick with Miami.
I'm going to take Miami to cover the four and a half.
On the road at Florida State, I think Miami's legitimate.
I think Florida State's living a little bit off that Alabama victory to start the season.
Give me Miami to cover the four and a half against Florida State.
What do you got you?
Florida has been awful this year.
They're going to continue to be awful.
They're going to lose tomorrow.
Texas is coming into town, and I'm going to take Texas to win at Florida.
Iowa State's ranked 14th in the country, and they're on the road at Cincinnati, and they're an underdog.
So I'm taking Iowa State to win at Cincinnati.
You're playing at Cincinnati.
Scott Satterfield, Scott's tots have been better than you would think so far this year.
Not tomorrow.
Okay.
By the way, did you go to Danky's game against Michigan?
I did.
How was that?
The atmosphere was incredible.
Of course, it was an awesome game.
He only had two catches, and he was a little disappointed after the game because they lost,
but it was an unbelievable environment.
Did you enjoy it?
Every second of it.
Cool, that's awesome.
What about you?
What's your game?
I'm not going to leave the city of Louisville.
And I got to be honest, I try not to bet Louisville games because I see through glasses
with hatred.
I don't actually look at the game.
They should have lost last week.
I actually got to watch their game, and they should have lost.
But go ahead.
But they're hosting Virginia.
Virginia just cracked the top 24.
six and a half points is too many.
Maybe Louisville wins, but I'll take Virginia covering six and a half here in Louisville.
Wow, I don't like that pick.
I think Louisville's going to pound them.
I think Louisville's going to end up being like not 10 and 2, but not be very good,
and then they'll get left out of the playoff and we'll have to listen to them wine all year
because they'll get left out for some team that has three losses, and they're going to be really mad.
You remember I said this.
They go 10 and 2.
they're not very good.
They get left out of the playoff and then they whine about buys the entire off season.
Ryan, write that down.
I would bet on that right now.
I would trade places with them right now, though, perfect.
Oh, for sure.
No, they're better than us.
They could be in that situation.
I'd love to be crying about having to playoff.
That 10 and 2 is probably going to be in clue to win over us.
Don't get me wrong.
Now, Kentucky and Georgia, game tomorrow's at noon.
Our pregame show will be at 9.
We're going to do it from the studio, but tune in at 9 o'clock.
We'll have more to say about the state of football.
It's Jeff Bacorrell's birthday today, by the way.
Happy birthday, Jeff.
What do you think, Drew?
Any chance?
I mean, there's not a chance for us to win down there.
But what are the chances it's a game in the fourth quarter?
I actually, I said this about South Carolina, though,
so here I am walking right into another bad take.
But I will not be the least bit surprise if Kentucky is in the game for a little while.
Being in the fourth quarter, I'll give that like a 10% chance.
But this game's traditionally close.
Last year was 13 to 12.
I don't know if it'll be that ugly, but with the style of play,
and if Kentucky can not turn it over four times in a quarter,
I think it won't be a blowout.
That being said, I don't see any scenario where Kentucky wins it,
but I don't think we're going to be looking at like 47 to 7
and come home with something that bad.
All right, well, then let's make a prediction.
What's your score?
47 to 10.
No, I'm just kidding.
27 to 9.
I think Kentucky cleans up the offense and just can't get into the end zone.
27 to 9 would be such a Mark's stupid score.
I think we have three field goals, nine points.
We have three drives where we threaten.
Cutter Bowley looks a little better.
They protect the ball and just still don't find the end zone.
That's how I got to the knot.
I will say in the first half I did know.
Seth McGowan's a dude.
Like, I don't know if we're going to get,
I don't know if he's going to get the props he deserves because we're not good.
But Seth McGowan's a dude at running back.
Like that's a really good player that I wish we had on a better team because I think he's real.
What's your score?
I'm kind of what Drew.
I don't think it's going to be a blowout because, you know, Mark Stoops and,
Kirby Smart are like good buddies.
Crobby Smart.
Kirby Smart.
They're like buddies, and they kind of play the same way.
So I think the spread's probably right on.
So I'm going to go 3813.
Wow.
That's all right.
3813.
Kentucky's going to try to slow the game down, control the time of possession.
I don't think it's going to matter, though.
I think Georgia wins 35, 16.
Aidan LaRose is my MVP.
Yeah.
Back to punting.
This is a huge game just to keep people,
even caring for the rest of the year.
I mean, we go into a buy next week
that will have Big Blue Madness.
This fan base is ready to shift
its attention. The Reds have just finished.
So to what extent people like that, that's
over as well? I mean,
everything is going to shift into basketball gear.
And if Kentucky takes a big beat down
tomorrow, especially an embarrassing
beat down, it could be
really, really bad. I mean,
if they get pounded,
then I think it's going to be bad. I don't think they're going to get
pounded, but I also don't think they're going to be really competitive.
I think it's going to be like 30 to 13 or something like that, and we end up taking the defeat,
but we will be here at 9 a.m. to talk about it.
Thank you all very much here at Shady Race.
It is awesome to come home and see an absolutely packed crowd.
We appreciate it.
We will see you tomorrow morning.
This has been Kentucky Sports Radio.
Another podcast from some SNL late-night comedy guy, not quite.
Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends.
me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier.
This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidel,
help an a cappella band with their between songs banter.
Where does your group perform?
We do some retirement homes.
Those people are starving for banter.

Last night, a blown call changed a game.
This morning, the internet lost its mind.
and nobody's telling you exactly what happened.
That's where SportsSlice comes in.
I'm Timbo, and every episode we're cutting through the noise,
breaking down the biggest moments in sports
and giving you the real story behind the headline.
And we're going straight to the source, the athletes themselves,
their locker room stories, their reactions in the moment,
and the stuff nobody gets to hear.

Hey, what's good, y'all? You're listening to Learn the Hardway with your favorite therapist and host Kear Games.
This space is about black men's experiences, having honest conversations that it's really not safe to have anywhere, but you're having them with a licensed professional who knows what he's doing.
How many men carry a suit or armor. It signals to the world that you not to be played with.
And just because you have the capability that does not mean that you need to.
Listen to learn the hard way on the AHA radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your,
podcast. I'm Michelle McPhee, and I've been unraveling the strangest criminal alliance I've ever reported on,
a Mormon polygamist and an Armenian businessman. Multimillion-dollar house, Ferraris and Lamborghinis,
private jets, a billion dollar fraud. But how long can this alliance last? Tell me what you know.
