Welcome, everyone.
It is Kentucky Sports Radio.
It is Wednesday, October 1st.
I'm Shannon the dude.
Woo-hoo!
On the Clark's Pubpit Shop phone line.
859-280-2287, the A-Vision text machine, which I do not know if we have or not.
We'll find out in just a minute, but that number is 5027, 35, 36, 80.
Nailed it.
We've also got, what does it, our whiskey thief call of the day.
Okay.
And when I'm about us in.
Clark's Publishap.
All right.
Oh, yeah, yeah.
And, of course, the KSR pre-show brought to you by the law offices of T.J. Smith, if you call it T.J., he'll make them pay.
We're live in Bullitt County, which we've done some shows in Bullock County in the past, guys.
But I don't think we've ever done a show live from Mount Washington.
I don't think so either.
You're right.
Yeah.
So this is the first one.
We've been in Shepherdsville.
Yep, yep.
Not in Mount Washington.
So welcome, guys.
We got Ryan Lemon, Drew Franklin, here with us in the garage bar.
And guys, welcome to Mount Washington.
We got you some donuts.
Ryan, I know that you wanted some donuts, I'm sure, after your complete failure of the donut contest at your house last time, the donut eating contest.
So I got you some donuts.
Got you some chocolate milk.
You ready to go.
Here's your iPad.
Yeah.
Well, we said this yesterday.
You know, we've done a show at Drew's house.
Yeah.
We've done shows at my house, the donut show.
Yeah.
We've done lots of shows at Matt's house.
We've never done a show at Shannon's house.
Right.
And when Matt left, he said, look, you guys do whatever you want in the show.
Go wherever you want, do whatever you want.
So Drew and I were talking like, let's go to Shannon's Man Cave.
Let's do one in Shannon's Man Cave for a change.
So I did get the donuts.
You bought specially from the place here in Mount Washington.
Donut King.
Shut up your donut king.
So I had my first real full donut since the donut challenge.
Yeah.
Kept it down.
So far, so good.
I love your place, man.
It's awesome in here.
Well, thank you.
Yeah, this was, you know, supposed to be a garage for show cars.
My dad had this house.
He said he had like two Camaroos in here?
Two corvettes.
Corvettes.
And then, well, when I moved in here, I don't have anything except for a Jeep.
So I thought, you know what, I got all this extra space drew.
Might as well just turn it into a man cave.
And as you can imagine, I've got a couple of TVs up.
You know, we've got the games on at nights when I'm just sitting here.
All the neighbors just sort of congregate over here.
and, you know, some of them a little halfway lit up, Drew, just walking over here and just kind of stumble in and they've got their own pub right here.
It's like a garage bar in the neighborhood.
It is very inviting.
It's very nice in here.
You have an amazing bar.
You mentioned you've got that from a real bar in Lexington.
Yeah, the Twistic cork.
That thing is nice.
The Twistic cork.
It's really nice.
In Lexington was renovating their bar.
They decided we want to get rid of this bar.
They headed on Facebook Marketplace for like $600.
So how did you get it from Lexington to here?
That's a big bar in the back of my Jeep.
I got a U-Haul.
Had to rent a U-Haul.
So this was a whole production this day.
So it was first come, first serve.
So my dilemma, first of all, was
that's a really nice bar for a really nice price.
But I'm going to have to drive all the way
from Mount Washington to Lexington
and just hope the thing is there.
So I tried to contact the sellers
and say, hey, can you hang on to that?
They're like, no, we can't really do that.
So I just had to take a shot in the dark,
take a chance, drive all the way to Lexington.
Then when you get there, of course,
you've got to go get a U-Ha.
So I'm like, I'm here, here's the money, you know, just hang on to it.
Little did I know when I was going from the Twisted Cork bar to get the U-Haul to rent,
another guy tried to come in and buy that bar from underneath of me.
Oh, I tried to undercut you.
Now, you could imagine how upset I would have been if I'd spent a couple hundred bucks on a U-Haul,
and while I'm going to rent the U-Haul, some other guy comes down and buys the bar.
So luckily, they were nice enough to actually hang on to the bar.
We got it here, took quite a few friends.
to bring this thing in.
We had to pick it up and load it in here.
I mean, that is, I think, a 13-foot-long bar.
It's big.
It's big.
Yeah, it looks awesome in here.
It's perfect.
You got your kegator set up.
Where's the Phoenix Hill fountain?
I don't have the fountain.
The fountain's at the other house.
Oh, you see, you had to leave it there.
They had to leave it there.
Well, the inner parts of the fountain are still with me.
It's out there in the shed.
The fountain's always with it, Ryan.
It carries it everywhere.
That's right.
Carries it with them.
But the bricks are still there at the other house.
Gotcha.
Now, guys, you yesterday, Drew,
it was your game. Let's come up with things that we think might be in Shannon's garage.
Yeah, fun game.
Yeah, and I think, was it your suggestion of something, Fazoli's?
Yes, I thought you would either have some form of bread warmer, or for special events,
maybe you actually paid someone to walk around with a basket and tongs handing out breadsticks.
But I assume something breadstick related.
You were close.
So instead of that, I've got a Fazoli's breadstick scented candle, which we've got lit right now.
It smells like garlic breadsticks.
This is too close to me.
Well, we can move it away.
I'm actually starting to choke up on the garlic a little bit.
Well, we can move it over.
As soon as you lit it, we all like, oh, I smell it.
It was like amazing.
You can smell it quickly.
I want to get it away from you guys.
Yeah, my eyes are watering.
The last thing I want to do is catch anybody on fire because we've already had one injury that already occurred this morning.
I heard that on the pre-show.
So you know, like in factories, a lot of times they'll put up on like a big board and it'll say like 20 days since our last incident.
Yeah.
We've got to reset it at zero.
Zero.
because Billy came in and immediately started rummaging through all of my personal belongings,
including over here in the corner, these golf clubs that haven't been touched in 20 years.
This is how old and outdated my golf clubs are.
I've got a wooden club in there.
A wooden driver.
And Billy was just, he looked like he had seen a dinosaur or something.
He's like, oh, my gosh, there's a hickory wooden club in your bag.
So as he's pulling out this golf club, right above it is a.
metal Vanderbilt logo
and it's a star logo and it's very,
very sharp. You could
kill somebody with that. That could be a murder weapon.
It's like a big throwing star.
The Vanderbilt logo is a big star
and it's all made out of metal and as he was
pulling up that wooden club
out of the golf bag, he stabs
himself with the corner of
that metal star and immediately
starts bleeding all over my garage.
So luckily, like I was telling
Billy earlier, I don't know how to start
a tourniquet on somebody but I felt like he was going to
bleed out here in front of us.
And our next door neighbor over here, Robert, went over there, and he got a bandage for
Billy.
So Billy has already bandaged up.
I mean, that was before the pre-show even started today.
So we're off to a little bit of a rough start, but if you guys will just, you know, stay
where you're at, stay seated.
I promise you, you won't get injured here, Ryan.
I noticed when I walked in, Billy is like Rick James up on your couch.
He's got his shoes on, but they're up on the top cushion.
He's laid back.
Is that because of the injury, or did he just really coming down?
and flop down like that and make himself at home.
Billy is. He really is. He's making himself at home.
He came in. He immediately demanded that I make him a hazelnut coffee, which I did.
I was trying to be a good host.
You know, like I said, I brought donuts in and everything for you guys.
But Billy just comes in and just acts like he owns the place, which is fine.
That's fine.
Well, because after he calls T.J., he is going to own this place.
He's going to make me pay.
TJ's going to make you pay.
Billy's going to own this man cave.
I don't want to go any further without finding out if he has the AVision Glass Tech's machine.
We can't gloss over this.
Thank you.
Thank you for that, Drew.
Yes.
Okay.
we need to go back to this because this has been a problem the last several days of you not bringing the A-Vision Glass text machine, which is a brand-new shiny iPhone, which you still don't have a case for. Get a case for that thing. Mario, I don't like to look in his eyes.
I need to know, do you or do you not have it? Did you remember it? Is it still on your nightstand on the charger? Where is the phone right now?
The worst thing yesterday is when Drew brings it up, Alan Anderson from A-Vision Glass is sitting right in front of us.
is not Drew bringing it up. The worst thing is you
not bringing it. Yeah. Don't bring
Drew into this. This is a Ryan
limit issue. This is your accountability.
They gave me this phone to use
as the text machine while Matt is out of the
country. Because Matt's text machine, the text
machine we normally use is on his phone.
So AVision Glass bought this phone.
I forgot to take it to buy a water farm.
I forgot it Monday when we were with Dusty
Bonner. I forgot it yesterday with Richie and Buck.
So coming to your house today.
Is it in my pocket?
Do you have it?
I go.
He's got it.
Yeah.
There it is.
Dave's in Glass Tech Machine.
He is here.
And it's charged up because it's been on the charger for a week without moving.
You probably have a lot of messages.
I probably got a lot of messages.
Well, everything's Mark Stoops, Fire Mark Stoops, Firebush, Hamden.
Has that been basically all day to get on there?
Just lighten it up.
And does it go all night?
Oh, because people listen to the podcast.
Yeah.
So they listen to the podcast.
They say, I'm on to go ahead and text the text machine.
Oh, yeah.
So, yeah, it doesn't stop.
All right.
So we do this everywhere we go.
Notable athletes.
There's not many for Mount Washington.
I've got one.
Do you know any notable athletes from Mount Washington, Kentucky?
There's a guy by the name who's a pitcher named Shannon Grigsby that pitched for Bellarmine College, Bellarmine University.
Yeah.
I don't think that's very notable.
As a matter of fact, I went to the Mount Washington Wikipedia page.
Yeah.
They have notable people on there.
I'm not on there.
Wow.
I'm not even on there.
Wow.
I guess I'm not notable enough to make the Mount Washington, Kentucky Wikipedia page.
Of course, Derek Willis from.
Bull at East. Yes. And I think that's it.
That's a big one. Yeah. The Bullitt East football team did win the state title a couple years ago.
Six-A state title just a couple years ago. That's right. You got that going? Yeah.
And I'm trying to think of anything else that Mount Washington has done. That's notable.
Junebug Rake's son was on that team with Derek Willis. Yeah. Yeah. Okay.
The coffee I got on my way in, maybe he's the worst coffee I've ever gotten.
Where did you get the coffee at? It's from a nice, I won't name the company, but it is a
It's a coffee shop based out of Seattle, green logo,
lady with long hair on it.
Long wait at the local starbs here.
Did you go to the one at Kroger?
Yeah, I messed up.
That's why I was a little late.
You saw me come in in two wheels here in your neighborhood.
Well, we have, you know, some local coffee shops around here.
This is God's country.
I don't know that I've actually been through Mount Washington.
I passed, like, the downtown.
There's a dairy queen.
There's a dairy clover.
We got our own brewery here.
We're big time.
Oh, I didn't see the brewery.
So I'm telling, yeah.
I did like the food truck park.
That would neat.
Yep.
Cissy's tacos.
I'm just shouting out all the businesses in Mount Washington.
We got Gallant Fox Brewery.
But I'm telling you, that is a big deal for Mount Washington because I grew up in Mount Washington, and we had nothing here.
And now this is basically turned into an extension of Louisville.
Like, it's just become overcrowded.
And they continue to add businesses.
And we got a sports bar out here now.
Like, that's big time for us.
Because back then, when I was growing up, we didn't have anything.
We didn't even have the bypass.
Like, if you wanted to go from Louisville to Mount Washington,
you had to take the old Bards Town Road to get there.
And now we got this bypass, which is now, you know, opened up traffic a little bit.
But it is still, though, we have way too many people in this city for what it can hold.
Like, it is too small of a town to have this many people.
I was talking to your dad and what you guys were doing the pre-show,
and he said it, he remembers it was such a big deal when this town got that first Dairy Queen.
Oh, yeah.
Got the Dairy Queen.
That was like a huge deal.
We're growing.
Yeah.
It was a Duthers.
It was a Duthers.
It was a Duthers.
Yeah.
Do you remember Druthers?
Oh, I.
the biscuits and chicken.
Everyone's going to get chicken and biscuits.
That's right.
So we're going to have a fun time today.
I'm excited about it.
I'm excited about it.
I thought Richie and Buck were awesome yesterday.
Really enjoyed having those guys on.
And I always love hearing Richie talk about his time at Kentucky
and going to practice playing for Rick Petino.
Yeah.
And hearing those stories of how hard those Rick Patino practices are.
I feel like Drew, a lot of what Mark Pope does is kind of what Rick Petino,
you know, how he was as a coach, when Pope.
played for Petino back in the day.
Yeah, we hear those war stories.
I liked hearing about how he had quit the team
and then ended up sitting in Rick's basement.
Rick's like, well, I quit too.
That was pretty funny.
But also, you know, I know Buck doesn't have the recognition of a Richie,
but anytime Buck chimes in on anything, I can't help but laugh.
He is so funny.
And when you get those two together, telling the stories together,
like when they were talking about their youth,
I don't even know the stuff they're talking about.
It's like, we're hung it up with a piece of seagrass,
and, you know, we're playing from a railroad tide.
I can't even picture what they're talking about, but I could listen to them tell those stories forever.
Yeah, chasing the ball down the hill.
And Richie said, well, I didn't have to chase it that much because I didn't miss that much.
Just listen to those guys talk.
Their accent and the way they talk and just kind of bounce off each other, I think was very entertaining yesterday.
I loved it.
And they're late because the black topping.
I like that's right.
A lot of black topping.
That's right.
So always good to have those guys.
We need to bring them back maybe next time Matt's out as well.
Now, speaking of Matt, do we have an update from Matt?
I know, Drew, you've been doing some of these podcasts with Matt the last couple of days.
I haven't heard anything for Billy.
I'm looking at Billy here.
Billy's, I go through Billy to get to Matt.
So far, I think we might be rogue today on cover zero.
We're figuring that out.
Might be me and Billy's show.
So my dad actually brought this story up this morning because I didn't see it in the news.
But apparently in South Africa, just yesterday, there was someone who was on a safari and got attacked by an elephant.
And held underwater by this elephant.
No, she did survive.
It was a female.
But I just saw a person and an African safari, an elephant attacking someone.
And I thought, oh, my God.
Did we lose our boy, Matt Jones, to an elephant attack?
I started reading into the details a little bit.
Apparently, this person got a little too close to the elephant calves.
I learned they're called calves.
And then I realized, well, Matt hates babies, so there's no way that Matt would get close to anything.
Or the water.
Or the water.
That's true.
But I saw that, and I was like, oh, my gosh, what's going on in South Africa?
You know, I worry about Matt.
You said he was in a tent.
Yeah.
And I can't just envision our boy Matt.
I can't either.
Even if it's glamping.
I can't imagine Matt being in a tent.
I agree.
I didn't know this elephant story.
We were actually supposed to do something yesterday at four,
and we ended up not doing it.
I definitely would have assumed he was underneath the elephant at that point.
But when I haven't seen the tent, I just knowing Matt,
I assume it's like the Ritz Carlton of tents.
It's got to be, right?
It's probably a big room with a king bed that just happens to have like a sheet over the top of
something memory foam
mattress and he was able to
live stream a radio show from said
tent with Wi-Fi so
I mean it is cool that he's out
in the National Park and seeing animals but
tent I think might be
stretched a little bit on what he's staying in
so if he's got Wi-Fi doing his show he's not
really roughing it roughing it he's got
I wouldn't think so
yeah look I can't really say much because
I'm not a camper either I think I've been camping
one time and I did not like it
and I go we got a house two miles
the road. Why are we sleeping on the ground and pretending like we don't have AC just right
off the road from here? So I'm not a big camper myself, but I'm worried about our boy, Matt.
I'm glad he's going to be back Friday, and I guess he's going to be back on a plane.
I guess tomorrow, the question is, will the Cincinnati Reds still be in the playoffs when he
comes back? We'll talk a little bit about that on the other side of the break.
And Ryan, before we go, though, you're wearing this Reds shirt.
Yeah, I thought I better wear it for it's too late.
My guy. The button is barely hanging on. You listen close.
so you can hear that button screaming for help.
Yeah.
I thought I better wear it before the red season comes to an end.
Where did you get that?
My son, Michael, played for the Red when he was 12.
So you're wearing a 12-year-old jersey right now.
He's now 23, so it's 11 years old.
Yeah.
It's been in my closet untouched for all that whole time.
Well, why not?
That's not even a medium.
That is a small jersey.
And that can't be comfortable.
That's why it still fits.
It's very, very snarl.
Maybe Mario can get a picture of that and send it out for everybody to see.
got my name on the back so they know I used to play for the Reds.
I wore this to Great American Ballpark.
We went up that day for batting practice.
This is what I wore.
They could have used your help last night.
Yeah, they definitely could have.
We'll talk more about that, and we'll talk some Kentucky football.
And a whole lot more, 859-280-2287.
We are live in Mount Washington, Kentucky from my Man Cave.
We'll be right back.
This is KSR.

in the pursuit of the thing, we get so wrapped up in the chase that we don't realize that we are
in possession of the thing.
And we're still chasing it.
And we don't know when we've done enough.

Life becomes about wins and losses.

Are you a good person because you're afraid?
Because that's two different intentions, bro.
Absolutely.
And that's two different levels of trust.
I want you to just really be a good person.

Jacob Kingston grew up in an isolated polygamous sect.
We were God's chosen kingdom on earth.
He felt destined for greatness.
So when a swaggering Armenian businessman catapults Jacob into an extraordinary world,
he doesn't look back.

I'm Michelle McPhee,

I've ever come across.
When Jacob met Levant this plant to a billion dollar fraud.
But with two kings from entirely different worlds,
just how long can their empire survive?
The largest tax investigation in American history.
You need to tell me what you know.
Is somebody?

Jacob told Levan, you're ruining my life.

Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal but encouraged.
It's the enhanced games.
Some call it grotesque.
Others say it's unleashing human potential.
Either way, the podcast's Superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes
for a full year.
Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds.
I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth.
Listen to Superhuman on the I-Hard Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
All right, welcome back.
It is Kentucky Sports Radio.
We're live in Mount Washington.
You know, one of the cool things about living in this house.
This is the house I grew up in.
Yeah, it was kind of cool.
And all the neighbors that are surrounding me have all been here since I was a kid.
Amazing.
We got Robert over here, who has been here since the 90s.
was a big Atlanta Braves fan.
That's how I kind of became a, well, sort of how I became a Braves fan.
But now he's a Cincinnati Reds fan.
He's like Matt.
Yeah, exactly.
We got Greg and Sheila over here across the street who have been here since the 80s.
We got Ralph and Dorothy across the street.
Oh, Ralph and Dorothy.
They're now in their 90s.
They've been there since I was a kid.
And then we got Chris over here who's been here since, I think, the 90s as well.
So it's kind of cool.
It's almost like its own little sitcom.
All the characters are all the same that have been here since I was a kid.
Now, where's the famous driveway where you became a Vanderbilt fan?
Is it on this street?
You playing basketball with your neighbor?
Actually, right there.
There used to be a basketball goal right there where that white car is.
I don't know.
This is radio, so nobody can see that.
But, yeah.
That's where you became a Vanderbilt fan.
Because he wanted to be Kentucky's, and they just played Vanderbilt the night before,
so he made you be Vanderbilt.
The rest is history.
That's right.
So let's talk a little Kentucky football.
We have to.
How are we going to fix this football team, guys?
We got, right now, Kentucky.
two and two, you got a gauntlet of top 25 teams coming up with Texas, Tennessee, Georgia on Saturday.
I don't even know where to start.
The cats are a 22 and a half point dog, I believe.
I think it's come down a few points to like 20 and a half, but yeah, call it three touchdowns.
And I saw, you know, Stubes and Bush Hamden talking about how methodical the offense is.
Drew, do you think that if Kentucky has any chance on Saturday that they have to just grind it out and play that slow Mark Stubbs?
ball, or do you think that there's any chance that maybe they just let Cutter start
slinging it around?
I don't think that that's the case.
It's just a slow, grinded out type game.
I think that's probably Kentucky's best chance.
Yeah, and, you know, I don't think they're going to win, but of all teams that they've
played well over even the last couple years when they haven't been winning SEC games,
you beat or you lost to Georgia by like one at home last year, three at home a couple years
before that.
You have similar styles.
much better at it, much more talented.
So I think Kentucky might be kind of in the game.
If you have turnovers like you did a week ago, heck no.
But I think for a little while they'll hang around,
but I just, when you don't have a quarterback,
and I don't think Calzada or Cutter have proven that they're quite ready yet,
I just don't see how you can go down there and really have a chance at Georgia,
especially Georgia coming off that loss.
They're not going to, you know, run up the score or anything,
but you're not going to sneak up on Georgia for sure.
they're motivated to correct their loss last week.
Ryan, if you're Mark Stoops, let's say Cutter struggles again against Georgia.
How long do you stick with Cutter?
Is Cutter going to be the guy regardless of what happens for the rest of the season?
Or do you maybe just kind of take it game by game?
But I don't think you can do that this far into the season.
I mean, we're getting close to the halfway point.
The crazy thing is, after this Georgia game, Kentucky has another buy week.
So I'll have two weeks before the Texas game.
So I don't think you make a move.
I think you just let Cutter take his growing pains right now, take his licks,
just continuing to get as many reps as possible in practice,
and hopefully he can put it together by the end of the season.
You know, Georgia has beaten Kentucky 15 times in a row.
But like Drew said, last year was 13 to 10.
They only beat Kentucky by one point at Krogerfield.
Because Kentucky and Georgia kind of plays similar.
You know, they like to have that same offensive philosophy
that Stoops and Kirby Smart both have.
I think that enables Kentucky at least.
to try to keep it closer than most people think.
You know, Drew, we saw in the preseason the rankings that came out that were talking about Kentucky's talent, like a raw talent.
And they ranked, I think, like in the top 30.
So if Kentucky has a top 30 raw talent team, what is the issue?
Is it a coaching issue more so than the players?
Or what do you think?
Like, where's the hang up with this team?
Coaching's a big part of it.
Also, just the way you built the roster.
I'm trying to pull this up on the fly because I haven't laid eyeballs on it yet.
but someone right as we started, ESPN ranked the every quarterback in the country.
They did.
And Kentucky's is dead last.
Wow.
They're in.
Cutter, bole is number 68.
All power four quarterbacks, one through 68.
Yeah.
Cutter and Calzada are both ranked.
So that's part of your answer there.
They combined Bowley Calzada, but you're 68 out of 68th, at least in this.
And, you know, it's hard to disagree with that right now.
So, I don't, you know, it's weird when, like, yesterday, they say things like, well, you know,
when we get behind, we're just not a team that can come back.
What do you mean? That's part of football.
Why did you build a team that can't come back from down 11?
Or when we get to third and eight, you know, it's just tough for us to pick.
It's like, well, why is your team assembled to where you can't do that, you know?
It's things like that.
It goes back to not just players not playing well.
It's like, well, what did you even build if you're not even able to do that?
I'm to the point to where the only part of our team I truly believe in is our running backs.
Yeah.
That's it.
I mean, other than that, I feel like when Kentucky got down and we've talked about this on Monday,
When Kentucky was down 28 to 10 at halftime, I thought it's over.
I didn't think that Kentucky's offense even had the firepower to be able to come back from that type of deficit.
So I feel like if Kentucky is going to win, they've got to keep these games 20 points or less.
And it was like that last year, Drew.
That's what stinks the most.
Even after those two turnovers, which are crazy, back-to-back defensive touchdowns, that just doesn't happen.
But even after that, it's only 21 to 10 in the first half.
but as a Kentucky fan, 21 to 10 is over.
It's a good night.
This is football.
It shouldn't be that a 10-point lead is just insurmountable,
but at Kentucky, that seems to be the case.
So, Ryan, how do you get to six?
Georgia, Texas, Tennessee, win one.
Auburn, Florida, Tennessee Tech, Vandy,
went to beat Louisville.
Or maybe you get three out of that Auburn, Florida, Tennessee Tech, Vandy,
but that's going to be tough.
I think if you're the most optimistic Kentucky fan,
you've got to think you've got a chance to get to
get Florida at home.
Yep.
You get Tennessee Tech.
Yep.
So you're sitting at four.
Yep.
The other two, I think, are going to be hard to get.
859-28027.
We're going to take a break.
We'll be right back.
We are live in Mount Washington, Kentucky.
It is Kentucky Sports Radio.
Welcome back.
It is Kentucky Sports Radio.
We're live from my main cave, Mount Washington.
859-280-2287 is the Clark's Puppet Shop phone line.
Alex writes and says, I was at the Kroom Winery.
I forgot we have a winery here, too.
So we got a brewery and a winery.
That's right.
I was at the winery for a wedding this weekend.
It was disappointed that I didn't see a sign coming into town
stating home as Shannon the dude.
No, if I can't make the Wikipedia page,
I'm not going to be able to make the...
Only Matt Jones gets that type of honor, you know,
when you roll into the Bell County, home of Matt Jones,
and who was the other one?
Who's the other celebrity?
Lee majors.
That's right.
So, no, I don't get that.
A little breaking news for you and I, Drew, being Braves fans,
It was just announced that Brian Snicker, the Braves manager, will not return as the manager and will transition into an advisory role.
You know, the Braves having the talent that they have, finishing fourth in the NL East, something had to be done.
They have way too much talent not to make the playoffs, and now Brian Snicker is going to be stepping down.
Can we bring back Bobby Cox?
Please, please. I mean, they actually, this would be Bobby 3.0 because they brought Bobby backs once.
already.
You're right, though.
When the season started, they were, if not third, maybe fourth in the World Series
odds behind the Dodgers, maybe a couple others.
Like, we legit thought we were going to be contending.
And then there were some early injuries early in the season.
Lost the entire starting rotation.
That stunk.
And, you know, we'll give you a few losses there.
But to finish where they did at the complete bottom of the major leagues is unacceptable.
So it had to happen.
Right there at the bottom.
They have way too much talent.
It's been going well for several years
And then to just bottom out the season
You had to make a move
Yeah, right down there with the nationals and the pirates
And the pirates, I'm convinced
Just will never be good in baseball
Just never
They got the best pitcher in the national league
And they can't even win a game for him
I almost feel bad for him that he plays for the Pirates
Like he could be really good
He's gonna end up with the Yankees
Just like all the good players
Everyone does
Now speaking of baseball, let's talk a little baseball
We really haven't hit on the fact that the Reds
Got destroyed last night
by the Dodgers.
I kind of felt like this was going to happen.
Otani had two home runs,
and Hunter Green was just out there throwing BP, Ryan.
He was. He was doing batting practice.
He threw against the Dodgers one month ago,
and five innings gave up five runs, two home runs.
Last night he didn't even make it to five innings.
Like three innings, we already gave up eight runs, two home runs.
It was amazing.
Otani hit two home runs.
That Tay Oscar guy hit two home runs.
He was.
It was batting practice.
The Red's going to be out of the playoffs before Matt
even get back from South Africa because I feel like that's what's going to happen.
I think so.
I guess tonight their starting pitcher has given up the most runs of anyone in baseball,
and then you're facing the Dodgers who lead in all the hitting stats.
I don't have a lot of faith.
I was just telling you all during the break, I'm weird.
I went the full regular season, and this is the case every year,
without watching a full baseball game.
Like, did not sit and watch a game from start to finish.
But for some reason when the playoffs start, I lock in, starting it,
at 1 o'clock yesterday through, now I did cut the Reds game off a little early to go to sleep.
But, I mean, I was locked in to every baseball game and loved every minute.
But I was so looking forward to the Reds.
And I stepped outside of the, I went to like brush my teeth.
I was gone like three minutes.
And I come back and it's just ball game.
I miss the whole, I guess they scored one run earlier.
But, I mean, the whole, was it back to back?
It was like home run.
Yeah.
I completely missed the fun.
So that game, zero interest in it after that happened.
I don't think that you're weird that you do that.
I think a lot of fans probably do that.
And I'm kind of like that with the NBA.
I don't really watch a whole lot of regular season, NBA games.
But then when the playoffs roll around, Ryan, I'm locked in.
I'm watching all the games.
Well, you know our baseball guys.
I love watching playoff baseball.
There's no doubt about it.
But last night I could not stay up after the Dodgers jumped on top of them.
I knew there was no coming back in the Reds.
You know, the one thing I want to talk to you about the Dodgers,
Mookie Betts is a gold glove all-star outfielder.
They moved him to shortstop this year,
and now he's a gold-glove potential winner-in shortstop.
You know, dude's amazing.
They make such a big deal about guys in baseball, like playing different positions.
But I'm thinking, okay, I'm sure these guys have played those positions at some point in their life.
It's not like mooky bits.
It doesn't know how to play shortstop.
If I want to be grew up playing the infield.
Sure.
Maybe not at the major league level.
And there is a little bit of difference, I'm sure, in that for sure.
But, I mean, if you know how to play left field, you know how to play left field, Drew.
So I don't really understand why they make that big of a deal out of it.
No, Ryan, I want to focus on you for a minute because I understand you had a grease fire at your house.
I did.
You had a party and you had a grease fire and you were grilling out.
Yes.
And you thought that the solution to putting out the grease fire would be to get a bucket of water and dump it on the grease fire.
A cup of water, yeah.
And how'd that go for you?
It worked.
It did work.
Yeah, it worked.
It's not supposed to work.
End of summer.
It's a special one.
End of summer pool party for the KS bar servers and bartender.
They kind of invited themselves.
They wouldn't have a pool party.
I'm like, okay.
So people just invite themselves.
They did.
Kind of like my garage bar.
Mario and some of them kind of spearheaded it without even asking me.
But that's cool.
It's all right.
I said, well, Mario said, you can grill out for us.
Okay, I'll grill out.
Wow.
All right.
Hold on a minute.
Not only does he invite himself to your house.
He puts you to work.
Yes.
He makes you the chef.
Well, I am kind of the grill master, except I had a little bit of a grease fire on my grill,
which happened sometimes.
Sometimes it's a little spark.
You know, and got a little grease fire.
I didn't went in, grabbed a big cup of water.
Put it out.
No problem.
Now you guys are telling me that's the wrong thing to do
No, okay, first of all
As someone who nearly had their house
Burned down just a couple of years ago
I would think that maybe you would have a fire extinguisher handy
Like I've got one right there in the corner
If something were to happen here
If this Vizzoli's breadstick candle
Were to catch your hog-calling championship trophy on fire
I could put it out with that fire extinguisher
Do you not own a fire extinguisher?
I do and Mario was freaked out by the flames
We were coming out of the grill
So he ran inside to yoga girl was in there
Yeah.
Who's got a need a fire extinguished?
You need a fire extinguished.
You know, panicking.
Yeah.
So she found one underneath the kitchen, but by the time Mario brought it out, I already had the fire out with my.
Now, Drew, I'm not a fire marshal, but as I said, I don't think you're supposed to put water on a grease fire.
I think if fire extinguisher would probably be the best thing to have, are there other things that you could throw on a grease fire?
Do you have any idea?
I've had a grease fire.
I took the quicker option of close the grill.
That works for me.
But I will say yesterday...
Did you not think about that?
We did.
But it was in the grease pan below the grill.
That's where the grease fire was down there.
Okay.
But I will say yesterday, I was watching baseball at KS Bar, like people do,
enjoying the Red Special.
Yeah.
And I asked a couple of servers how the party went, and one of them was like,
it was pretty fun, but Ryan almost burned his house down.
I laughed because just the way they said it.
And I'm like, what do you mean?
They're like, look at this.
And they had a video.
And I was like, oh, yeah, that's a big flame.
Right?
It was real close to your house.
It wasn't like off to the side.
It's very close to your back door.
So it wasn't like a tiny little fire popped up.
I mean, that was a...
It was a pretty guy...
I think the moral of the story is I should clean out my grease plate.
Yeah.
Probably full of grease down there and got down in there and caught on fire.
But, you know, sometimes that's what makes the burgers good.
Like, we talked about that.
Well, the burger's not good, Mario.
They were real good.
The burgers and hot dogs were good.
Maybe had a little kerosene flavor to them or something, you know?
Don't worry about that.
that.
Well, kerosene, you know, you just drown it out with the mustard and the ketchup.
Why not?
You don't even taste it.
I did see a picture.
Now, was that, like, vinyl on your house, the siding?
Yes.
Did that get burnt?
No.
Okay.
In the video, it looked like we were close to contact with the actual house.
No, it was probably, you know, it only lasted like maybe 10 seconds.
I mean, it wasn't that long.
No, I don't believe that.
Ten seconds.
Mario's shaking his head now.
Enough time for me to go inside, get a cup of water, come outside, push.
I think you were moments away from disaster.
The video I saw was too.
10 seconds long, and this person, in theory, had to get out of a pool, get a phone, hit record.
So I think 10 seconds might be a little short.
Well, maybe we'll go 15 seconds.
859.
We had a Rick Petino fire.
859-2287.
That was funny.
Nobody left it that.
That was funny.
I kind of laughed.
Let's go to the phones.
Who's up first, Rick?
Got Trevor up first.
Hey, Trevor.
Hey, Shannon.
I know, according to the NFL podcast, that Drew has,
fandom for the Cowboys second.
You have fandom for either Vandy or Kentucky second.
Is there another SEC team after Kentucky that you guys are rooting for
that I can root for as long as Bush-handed as the offensive coordinator?
Okay, good call.
Thanks for the call.
Appreciate it.
Another SEC team that you guys could pull for.
I mean, obviously mine's Vanderbilt.
Outside of that, I don't know.
I really don't have a team that I would pull for.
I had money on the line.
Usually mine's financially driven.
No, I don't have one where I would just have a second favorite.
But usually, you know, if you're watching a game, you naturally side with a team in your head.
And like most of the times, you know, we have our teams.
I hate Tennessee, usually one of Florida, lose, South Carolina.
So like.
Arkansas will throw in there for me now.
Yeah.
Now that you get Cal and Petrino.
Naturally in football, if Ole Miss is in an SEC game, I'll probably lean rooting for
old miss but it's usually because i hate the other teams more uh but as far as just having a second
favorite no i'm kentucky only on yeah on football i'm kind of with you i kind of like lane kiffin
and then you know with travis perry on the basketball side i'll probably be watching more
old miss basketball this year than than ever just to see how he's doing right i'm vandy also
especially in football because you feel like vandy feels like they're never a threat that's true
this year might be a little bit different in football but it feels like you know vandy just kind of
exist and they almost feel like you know we've given you Ray Davis and true we've given you
players over the years it feels like they're just uh they're no threat to Kentucky and that
saturday down south special that they did on Netflix they spent a lot of time with the
vanderbilt coach and the van der vandal team yeah I kind of fell in love with the guy you know
you're you know kind of a go-getter kind of a guy so I'm a lane kiffin fan I like him but also if
if I'm picking another school I'd probably go with Auburn just because I like I did like
Bruce Pearl you like Stephen Pearl uh Stephen Pearl I can live with
but all my brother's family, they're all Auburn fans.
Yeah.
You know, all of them.
So they all went to Auburn, they're all big Auburn fans.
Let's take a basketball.
I'm just rooting for what helps us in the standings.
That's true.
That's true.
Like I'm wanting any potential contender to get knocked off by, you know, usually of A&D
or if it's basketball, LSU, something like that.
Yeah, let's take another call, Rick.
Who's next?
Got peeve up next.
Hey, Pete.
Pete.
Yeah, I'm here.
I'm here.
Sorry.
Okay.
Go ahead.
Whenever you're ready.
Don't worry, Pete.
We've got plenty of time.
Listen.
My bad.
I had to put out of grease fire.
Anyway, in honor of you all being in Mount Washington today,
I think I need to point out one of the very few good things about U.K. football this year.
Okay.
The tight ends have awoken, you know.
I think they lead us in receiving touchdowns and whatnot.
And the only thing that has changed is Big Dog Lift,
and they didn't hire a tight-inch coach to,
replacing but it's my understanding that uh mount washington native and and former bull of
east charger cold brit is a student assistant and he is helping with the tight ends and that's the
only thing is changed and all of a sudden our tight ends are better than they have been in 10 years
well there you go i think we can go back to a mount washington guy yeah yeah that's right
mount washington boy of these chargers uh all cold brit don't forget don't forget the name he might
might replace stoops one day.
Well, I'll be honest with you.
I didn't know that Coe Britt was on the staff, but, hey, again, we're in Mount Washington,
so we'll take credit for it.
Tight ends are definitely been one of the highlights of the season.
Yeah, it is strange.
Thanks for the call.
We appreciate it.
It is strange that the tight ends, the year that the Big Dog leaves for Louisville,
are now the guys who are our best receivers so far this year, Drew.
Yeah, from a trash talking standpoint, I'd love to put it all in the Big Dog.
That's probably a part of it.
I think it's several factors.
When the line was so bad,
tight ends kind of just had to become offensive linemen
and help block last season.
I also think you're in a unique spot where Caddus is really good,
but Willie Rodriguez is like could be good, good, good.
I mean, he's only a sophomore,
and we're seeing him he's doing already
and what he does as a freshman.
And then you've got Boyer and others right behind them.
I think it's part that they've improved,
part that they're at least so far,
haven't had to do as much blocking as they had of the past.
You got Bowley lives with the tight ends
So his eye probably goes their way a little bit more
And Hamden working it in
So I think it's a combination of several factors
But the, you know, the Vince thing
And Cold Britt
Probably weighing that also
I mean it's a combination of several things
That are coming together for this group
When you're living with the tight ends
You got to, I'm sure like say
Hey, you know
I'm open, get me the ball more
You know
But Caddiss didn't even have a target
Against South Carolina
If I'm not mistaken
I think they hit that one
Willie Rodriguez for a long path
But I don't think Catas had a target a little bit
Yeah and South Carolina
did a good job
I mean, if you watch Kentucky the first three games, let's be honest, the wide receivers weren't threatened in you.
So they did a good job of taking him out.
The big dog did recruit these guys.
He did get him to campus.
Yeah, yeah.
And then it got better as he left.

Shannon, Drew, and Ryan, here in my main cave.
We were just talking about harvesting hemp.
with cornbread hemp i've harvested my pumpkins
there are pumpkins everywhere i don't know if you noticed them i've got uh well i had 10 biggins
now i got nine biggans because my mom took one home uh but i've got
how big is that big one right there by your front door well i'll let you go pick it up during
the break it's probably i would say between 40 and 50 pounds that's a big pumpkin but it didn't
grow in a perfect shape so it's kind of oblong so i had to lean it up against the house but yeah
i've got pumpkins everywhere so if you guys want a pumpkin you can you can take one i'll take one
yeah i need a pumpkin i need a pumpkin from my front porch
Also just saw your 90-year-old neighbor just walking down the street, just being 90 and enjoying the day.
So that's Ralph, and he and his wife occasionally will still get on their bikes, bicycles, and ride them up and down the dirt.
And they're 90?
Yeah, yeah.
Man, I hope I can do that when I'm 90.
Me too.
That's fantastic.
I just want to be able to make it to 90s, you know?
Good for them.
I've also got right here in front of us a huge stack of foreign bills.
That is my collection over the years of all the foreign money that has been sent to the.
this house. How many bills would you say there, Ryan? There is well over 200 different bills.
And I have no idea what any of that's worth. But that's stuff that still comes on a regular basis.
Well, even if each one of these is worth a dollar, I mean, you've got a couple hundred dollars here maybe.
Drew, the first time I got a foreign bill mistakenly sent to me, it was actually worth $100 and I cashed that in.
The rest of them I've kept. So, I mean, it's a huge stock. And a lot of these, I don't even know what they're worth. Like you said, I mean, most of them probably worth.
hardly anything.
Although somebody did send me a $100 bill,
but it's got a Kentucky Derby cover to it.
And I don't think that's legit.
I tried to ask Chat GPT.
I couldn't get a clear answer as to whether or not that was,
like a legit $100 bill.
I don't think it is.
No, it doesn't have the imprint of Ben Franklin.
But there's a little bit of everything on there.
I mean, literally bills from all over the world.
I feel like, you know, you're some kind of international spy
or somebody running from the law.
I feel like I'm in a movie.
You should have like six passports in this pile.
Yeah. It is kind of cool that people are doing this.
Just random people know your story or have heard about it and decide, I'm going to send this young man some money.
It started off as just bills, you know.
But now people are also including letters and cards.
You can, you know, spread it around the table if you want to if you want to get a good picture of it.
I mean, that's a big stack of bills right there.
Are we sure someone's not laundering money through you?
Maybe so.
I have no idea.
But, you know, I thought maybe it would just be from Kentucky.
It has been from all over the country.
I had some from Charlotte, North Carolina, and Denver, and, like, I mean, just about every state so far.
I feel like I've had at least one person send me money.
And I don't know.
It's the weirdest thing, but it continues to happen.
Maybe I should stop talking about it, and people will stop sending it.
You know, I think when I talk about it, I feel like it ramps up even more.
I don't know.
Getting money sent me in the mail doesn't seem like the worst thing to happen.
That's true.
That's true.
Although, like I said, most of it's worth little to nothing in American dollars.

Who's up next, Rick?
John is up next.
Hey, John.
What's up?
What are you doing this morning?
Hey, we're doing great.
It's good to hear.
So as we approach the end in the March Stoops era, there's always the scandals that come out.
One of the biggest rumors that's always been around the program is that Stoops may have done something with the staff.
I don't know if that's the story that will come out and they may be used that as leverage of the contract negotiations.
Have you heard anything about that?
No, no, I appreciate the call.
I have not personally, and I don't want to spread any kind of rumors because, again, they're just that.
And that's the first, I'd even heard of that.
So, no, I don't think that's the case.
If they don't start scoring some touchdowns, I know what he could do with some people on the staff.
Yeah.
It's a little more to do with packing your things.
Yeah, I think that's the bigger issue here.
I mean, what do you think?
Do you think Stoop survives another couple of years or does it all depend on what happens this year?
I mean, if he finishes with three wins, I think you got to cut the cord.
But if it's, let's say, four wins, do they keep them?
I don't think so.
Five wins, do they keep them?
Five is a conversation, you know, that's tough.
I think what we've seen, three is starting to look the most likely, unfortunately.
I have them beating Florida and Vandy in my preseason predictions,
but now I'm worried about even getting to that point.
Well, a caller on the pre-show the other day mentioned Tennessee Tech, who's like 4-0 and has scored a ton of points.
Oh, you lose to Tennessee Tech.
It's an easy decision.
I don't need to hear that.

Another podcast from some SNL, late-night comedy guy, not quite.
Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and Friends.
Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier.
This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidel
help an a cappella band with their between songs banter.
Where does your group perform?
We do some retirement homes.
Those people are starving for banter.
