Starting point is 00:03:30 Thanks. First of all, Shannon. I learned something this weekend. I didn't know. I wanted to know if you know. Do you know who the singer role model is? No. Never heard of him.
Starting point is 00:03:40 You ever heard of him? Never heard of role model. Did you ever heard of him? I don't know if it's a man or a woman. It's a man. I didn't know who it was either. Here's the reason I bring this up. He was the lead singer, or not lead singer.
Starting point is 00:03:51 He was the guest singer on Saturday Night Live this weekend. You know, the musical guest? Yeah. And he has a song. It's called Sally. get your face or something. It's like something Sally. All right.
Starting point is 00:04:04 Like Sally, what are you up to, Sally? See what the name is. It's like, hey, Sally, how are you? And I guess every concert, apparently, he brings out a Sally. Okay. And so somebody will come out and they'll be his Sally. Is it Sally when the wine runs out? Sally when the wine runs out.
Starting point is 00:04:28 Yeah. So somebody comes out. and they're a Sally. Okay. And like, apparently it's a big thing on TikTok. Who's his Sally going to be in every city? Uh-huh. So, like, he would come to Lexington and maybe, you know, Steve Zohm would be a Sally.
Starting point is 00:04:44 I'm not kidding. Sometimes it's a man, sometimes it's a woman. But they'll bring somebody out and they'll be sad. And there've been like all these famous people be the Sally. Be the Sally. So I didn't even know there was a role model, didn't know there was a Sally, and didn't know there was a thing that you wanted to be. Sally.
Starting point is 00:05:01 All right. So it goes on Saturday Night Live. Apparently in that world, everybody's like, okay, who's going to be to Sally? Yeah. You know. And apparently it was that woman, Charlie X, I, V, C, 4, whatever, right? That woman. With the, with the number.
Starting point is 00:05:15 With the Super Bowl letters. I still don't know how you say her name. Charlie 14. All right. Charlie, I, okay. She's on there. Now, did you know that she and Taylor Swift feuded? Of course not.
Starting point is 00:05:26 They both were dating somebody in the same band, long time ago and now they've made songs about how each other was mean to each other. Yeah, I think she was in the new Taylor Swift album. She's apparently the Taylor Swift album has something in the album that's like, you were mean to me. And she was like, no, you were mean to me.
Starting point is 00:05:43 So now here's, this is all leading to this. Okay. While she's Sally, on Saturday Night Live, she wears a shirt that says Kansas City on it. And the premise of the Sally is you drink too much. Sally, don't take your guns to town or whatever. Wind it up.
Starting point is 00:06:00 That one. So now there's the question of what's she talking about Taylor Swift with the Travis Kelsey Kansas City shirt. I like this level of intrigue because I want there to be pettiness that leads you to wear the shirt of the city of the place where your boyfriend is from. In a huge, huge stage. Huge stage. I knew about the boyfriend beef.
Starting point is 00:06:24 I think his name's Matt. Okay. So I'm somewhat hip on Charlie X-Kicks and Taylor Swift's feud. I didn't know about this thing on Saturday night. Do you, are there other, do men singers have these kind of beefs? Usually they just threaten to kill each other. Yeah. Like they don't sit here and do this.
Starting point is 00:06:42 Like Young Jeasy and Gucci Man, Gucci, when they were beefing, they, I don't remember petty T-shirts and boyfriend drama like this. I just like it. Yeah. And I now know what a Sally is. And apparently that guy, I think he's coming to Lexington or Louisville here soon. The role model guy? So we got to figure out who's going to be Sally.
Starting point is 00:07:02 How about you? Andy Bashir. I didn't recognize his name, but I've seen the Sally Trent. He gets like a-less celebrities. He does. And he can't sing. On Saturday Night Live, he sounded awful. I don't say that to be mean to him.
Starting point is 00:07:17 He just brings out people to distract. I think he just brings out people so they'll go who it's kind of a good gimmick, though. Hell of a gimmick. So Lexington and Sally. Who's it going to be? Ashley Judd. I think it's Andy Beshear. Did you bring out Andy?
Starting point is 00:07:30 Andy is kind of everywhere right now. Apparently you have to wear cowboy boots. So I don't know, like knee highs. I don't know how he would look at that. Did you hear, Ryan, about Cape Verde? I have not heard about Cape Verde. Do you know what Cape Verde is? Verde is green.
Starting point is 00:07:47 The green cape. That's true. Cape. is a green cape verday is green cape verde is a country okay in africa all right they became the smallest country in history yesterday to make the world cup wow okay would you like to know how big it is i would like to know this 311 miles that's it it is only has just like guys looking at waiting for more It only has as its population right now, 500,000 people.
Starting point is 00:08:25 Okay, smaller, like just to give an example, one-tenthest population of Kentucky. Wow. They made it. They consist of 10 volcanic islands, Cape Verde. And they are now in the World Cup will be the smallest country to have ever made it. Are you four? And they're coming to America. Are you for Cape Verde?
Starting point is 00:08:45 I am for them. They've only been a country since 19. So how do they do it? Did they pull off a big upset or something? They won games. I mean, they have a big upset? Well, they have qualifying for the World Cup. And they qualify. Now, the World Cup is expanding. It's bigger this year than it has been in years past. But still, it's still quite an accomplishment. Cape Verde. Cape Verde. Cape Verde. So will you be for Cape Verde? I am. That's my new team. You like Cape Verde? I do. I saw this. It'd be like Lexington making the World Cup.
Starting point is 00:09:12 No, I mean, this is a place the size of Lexington. Can you imagine if Lexington had a World Cup team. It could be playing Brazil in the World Cup. Yes. They've competed in every Summer Olympics. They've never won a medal. They've never been to a World Cup. They've never been to any international championship, but they will be in America in 2020. They did have good recruiting year, it sounds like. Well, so there you go. Just a little bit of information. They're going to be the World Cup, darling. Yeah. Wherever they are, they're going to have the crowd.
Starting point is 00:09:42 Sure. They should. Let's go to Terry. Go ahead, Terry. Stoop's take and then a question about or comment on Texas Tennessee. So 6 and 26, please fact check me on that. Six and 26 is Stoop's record in his last 32 SEC games. I'm not sure that's correct, but that sounds correct. Yeah, that's probably correct, yes. No coach in this universe survives that. I mean, I like Mark.
Starting point is 00:10:19 He's done a good job. And to your point, or last hour, he just stayed too long. When he had that Texas A&M gig or authority did, that's probably one he should have left. That would have been the good moment. In hindsight, it's kind of like the, you know, the Cal UCLA moment. It's probably good for everybody had the change occurred then. Probably the same thing here too. Because, as you said, also, he can't look in the mirror at this point and think,
Starting point is 00:10:51 I'm doing a good job. I'm doing what I'm supposed to be doing. So hopefully over time and the rest of the season, I know, barring some kind of scandal, Barnhart's not going to fire him in the middle of the season. I don't want him to, but I think he has to sit down and say, hey, for the betterment of everybody, I need to move on. Now, saying, having said that, also, I don't have these stats in front of me. But night games on the SEC, an SEC on the road are very,
Starting point is 00:11:17 hard to win. The home team has an advantage for various reasons. So we got two games back to back. I think we can win one of them. I think we can win one of them. It would be the most stoop's thing, and I appreciate it, Terry, to win one of these. Yep. It would be a very
Starting point is 00:11:33 stoop's thing. Like, I mean, again, I just, I keep saying, what if he won Saturday? If he won Saturday, the whole, I just want you to think about what would happen if he won Saturday. The whole national media would be praising him. Because you would end Texas chance at the playoffs. Ended.
Starting point is 00:11:50 You'd be beating Arch. Everybody would go, see, Kentucky fans want to fire that guy. Look how stupid they are. And then we might still finish four and eight. Which I think you'd still have to make the move. But for one week, we would be the king of the media.
Starting point is 00:12:08 Beat Texas. You could totally, I don't think it will, but you could see that happening. Do you think the place will be full Saturday? Close to it. I don't know what color they'll be wearing. Could be a lot of cowboy hats and burn orange in there, but I think it would be a good crowd.
Starting point is 00:12:22 Just me personally, I know so many people that have planned this since February. This is like their weekend. I'm going to Lexington, Keenland, Texas game. And there's the star power of Arch Manning, even though he's been a little disappointing, you know, there's a sense of that's Arch Manning. You might one day want to have said, just like when we saw Tebow here, and we saw Cam Newton here, and we saw Lamar Jackson here. You could say I saw that guy play in the stadium.
Starting point is 00:12:46 And the Texas logo. I mean, when's that thing here? Drew's right. I mean, people have planned this weekend all year. Now, the fact that there's the blue-white game and then the football game and the people plan on coming in doing them both of them going to Keenland during the day. I think it'll end up being a good crowd because of that. Everything else going on.
Starting point is 00:13:00 Parents weekend. Yeah, 859-280-2287. A couple of the lines. Matt, go ahead, Matt. Hey, you got a question for you. Two questions, actually. Number one, Colin Chan's shoes that he was wearing in the dunk contest. I know they're Nike's, but I need a sneakerhead to help me figure out what kind of
Starting point is 00:13:22 Nike's they are. I guess they're awesome. I'm going to have to look at it. That might be a Mario question because I didn't see it. But I'll look it up right now, but go ahead. Question number two is Trent Noah's shot. Have you seen anything that beautiful in your entire life? Well, our guy over here, Ryan said it was, I still can't believe with your hyperbole.
Starting point is 00:13:44 I appreciate the call that you thought that you think that is the, the best, he has a chance to be the best jumper ever in UK history. You believe that. I just watched him at three-point contest the other night and it brought tears to my eyes. It was a thing of beauty. A guy from Harlan County knocking down threes like it was layup all in the contest. Brought tears to your eyes. Tears to my eyes.
Starting point is 00:14:04 I mean, he's got a pure jumper. And when you watch him in warm-ups, it reminds me of like who are the great Kentucky warm-ups? Antonio Reeves could make a hundred in a row without missing. Kell and Grady could make like a hundred in a row without missing Travis Ford back in the day Derek Miller back in the day But he kind of looks a little bit like that The shot looks good
Starting point is 00:14:28 I'm getting worried about the summer talk Remember last year all the buzz Was Travis Perry has not missed all summer And then he shot 30% in the season So I'm worried we're going to get a little too carried away And set this bar that's impossible to reach Because everyone is not just Ryan Everyone is just raving about Trent Noah
Starting point is 00:14:46 as a three-point shooter. To the point, I'm worried it's going to be one of those summer tails that never pans out. I can't get a good view of his shoes here to tell you what kind they are because everything's a video and it goes by too quick. So if I see one, I'll, we'll get Mario to weigh it. He'll know the difference. 859-280-2287. Kentucky 9th in the AP poll.
Starting point is 00:15:06 Does that sound right? Poetic. Number nine. I like your head of Louisville. We'll ignore the BYU is number eight. Doesn't really matter there. Florida is the only SEC team ahead of you. there, it's about where I would have put them.
Starting point is 00:15:18 Yeah, that's what I looked. Who was ahead of them? Well, you can't make an argument really at this point right now. I just glad that Florida was the only SEC team is ahead of it. Ken Palm, we were fourth, just behind Purdue, Houston, and Florida. Uh-huh. Yeah, that's- I love that. People trust Ken Palm.
Starting point is 00:15:32 It's getting a little harder with these transfers, these brand-new teams. It's hard for me to know what he bases his data on when you have a whole new teams. But nevertheless, still good to be forward. A lot of gamblers trust Ken Palm more than anything. So as much as we like seeing it on the AP, and, you know, all these votes coming in. Ken Palm, if we trust the numbers, I mean, he's the one that's really reliable. Of our 31 games this season, 12 are against top 25 teams.
Starting point is 00:15:58 You like that? Of course, you know, bring them on. We ain't scared of nobody. Bring them on. Let's play them. You say that. But like, you know, you're going to have 12 top 25 games. You could be good, go six and six, and you just took six losses.
Starting point is 00:16:11 I mean, that's a hard schedule. We play Florida twice there on there. play Tennessee twice there on there. You know, Michigan State is ranked, Gonzaga's ranked, Rigg is number five. St. Johns is ranked. Then, I mean, even when you go to the non-conference, Purdue, North Carolina is ranked. I mean, all these teams that we play, Indiana is the only good non-conference game in the
Starting point is 00:16:34 year that's not, the team is not ranked. I love it. It's the way it should be. You're fine with it. I love it. I want this kind of schedule. Every year, like I say, we're Kentucky. We should play the best.
Starting point is 00:16:44 best of the best. I agree, but it is, this one is a particularly strong one. Don Franklin Auto.com, if you would like a vehicle, go to Don Franklin Auto. Great selection, great prices. There's one near you. It's Don Franklin. They've got all the vehicles, but more importantly, the service. They'll come, they'll help you check it out. And if they don't have the vehicle you want, they'll go search their other dealerships and they'll bring it to you. How about that? That's pretty good. It's Don Franklinato.com. There's one near you. It's Don Franklin, driven by family. We'll take a break. Be right back.
Starting point is 00:17:12 It's KSR. Last night, a blown call changed a game. This morning, the internet lost its mind. Highlights are trending, opinions are flying, and nobody's telling you exactly what happened. That's where SportsLyce comes in. I'm Timbo. Every episode, we're cutting through the noise.
Starting point is 00:17:26 Breaking down the plays, the controversies, and the stories behind the headlines. We go straight to the source, the athlete themselves. Their locker room stories, their reactions, the stuff nobody gets to hear. The laughs, the drama, the triumphs, the moments that never make the highlight real. From viral moments to historic games,
Starting point is 00:17:43 From buzzer beaders to controversial calls, we break it down, give you context, and ask the questions everybody wants answered. SportsSlice brings you closer to the action with stories told by the people who live them. Listen to SportsClyce on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Starting point is 00:18:17 I'm talking. Trip Fontaine, Ryan Clark. Sometimes when we're in the pursuit of the thing, we get so wrapped up in the chase that we don't realize that we are in possession of the thing. And we're still chasing it. And we don't know when we've done enough. Because people scoreboard watch.
Starting point is 00:18:34 Life becomes about wins and losses. Steve Burns, Dustin Ross. Because you find it important to be a good person while you hear on earth. Are you a good person because you're afraid? Because that's two different intentions, bro. Absolutely. And that's two different levels of trust.
Starting point is 00:18:48 I want you to just really be a good person. Join me, Kear Gaines, as we have real conversations about healing, growth, fatherhood, pressure, and purpose. On my new podcast, Learn the Hardway. Open your free, our heart radio app. Search Learn the Hardway and listen now. American soccer is about to explode. The World Cup is coming. Ramers sending on to Ernie Stewart the Chip.
Starting point is 00:19:13 I'm Tab Ramos. I'm Tom Boe. On our podcast, Inside American Soccer, you'll get the real storylines. I'm not worried about Policic. I'm not worried about Balligan. I'm not worried about McKinney. My only concern is what happens in the back. The biggest decisions.
Starting point is 00:19:36 If you're going to look at stats and numbers, he has no shot at making this World Cup team. And the truth about the U.S. national team. It wouldn't be a huge surprise if our team ends up in the quarterfinals or potentially a great run into the semifinals. The World Cup is almost here. Experience it all with us. Listen to Inside American Soccer with Tom Bogart and Tab Ramos on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, wherever you get your podcast.
Starting point is 00:20:05 What's up, fam? It's Isaiah Thomas. And I'm C.J. Toledano, and our podcast Point Game is about defining the odds. Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed. And finding ways to win no matter what. He's the smartest player to ever play the game. His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before. And he knows. Without Luca and Austin Reeves,
Starting point is 00:20:25 I got to manipulate the game. We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs. I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series because when they don't have Rudy in the lineup, he has to really guard guys like Nas Reid. He has to guard Julius Randall. And then he has to give us everything
Starting point is 00:20:41 he gives us on the night-to-night basis on offense. And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson, we dive into some playoff history too. Steve Nass would get that thing. That man, hell get the first. flying. He running up the court, licking his fingers while he got the ball. Like, after you go through a training camp
Starting point is 00:20:58 with that, Isaiah, you figure it out real quick. Get your ass up and down the court, and you're going to get the ball. So listen to Point Game on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Welcome back, Tughey Sports Radio. Some people reminded me, Kendrick and
Starting point is 00:21:14 Lamar did that for a whole year. I just meant that theirs was a lot more direct. They were just like, and they said very mean things about each other. Big accusations. The women are kind of more subtle. Now, this is the Sally, this is the song, Shannon.
Starting point is 00:21:29 Yeah, Sally runs out of wine. Or when the, Sally, when the wine runs out. Sally, when the wine runs out. So see, now you know the thing people are interested in. He just brings out a local celebrity and that person. Sometimes you, I mean, you know, it's been, what have they been? They've been like Hillary Duff.
Starting point is 00:21:49 I think I saw Natalie Portman. Yeah. The woman from, what's the woman from almost famous? What's her name? Anyway, point being like, famous people whose names I can't remember. Yeah. So famous, you can't remember them.
Starting point is 00:22:03 Yes. Kate Hudson. They're all Sally. They're all Sally. They're all Sally. That's right. It was Sabrina 2 shoes. That's what Colin Chandler was wearing.
Starting point is 00:22:13 I have some of those. Not the ones he has, but I have a different color. Do you? Sabrina 2. It's the female basketball player. but like tons of male players wear. Very cool. There you go.
Starting point is 00:22:24 859-2802287. One person writes, yes or no, do we beat Purdue next Friday? Shannon. No. I'll say yes. I'm going to say yes. Why not? We're playing at home.
Starting point is 00:22:36 For an exhibition game, we're going to have a huge crowd. I'm also worried Pope and Painter are going to be treating this as an exhibition scrimmage where our fans are going to overanalyze and treat it like it's a championship game. Good. That's what we do. I'm fine with that. See, I think Drew's right. I think Pope's going to try to find the right combinations, the right players and use this kind of as a glorified scrimmage.
Starting point is 00:22:58 But he's still going to want to win. Yeah, but he's going to play a lot of game of guys. Why won't Matt Painter do that? I don't know if he, does he have, they have 14 guys he can play? What do you know? The number one team in the country. I mean, they have the number one team in the country. They have figured out.
Starting point is 00:23:09 We have to remember that other teams have rosters too and they have needs. No, no kidding. But I'm saying they might, maybe Matt Painter wants to do the same thing. So is Matt Painter as deep as Kentucky. I honestly have no idea. That's what I'm asking you. So he made Matt Petitman play seven or eight guys. We're going to play 14.
Starting point is 00:23:26 I would say that Purdue would probably look at guys that we know and think they don't register on their radar. Right? So like our 11th and 12th guy, we know who they are. Yeah. Purdue probably doesn't. Purdue probably thinks their 11th and 12th guys
Starting point is 00:23:43 are as good as ours. So chances are, this is just my guess, chances are both of those coaches will treat the game the same way. whether that is go out and win or play, I think they'll probably treat it the same. Oh, there's going to be a conversation. Probably what are we doing.
Starting point is 00:23:57 They're going to want to win for sure, especially being at home. Pope's going to give that to the fans. But I do think there's going to be a part of it where you don't let off, but you're not 100% in it. Do you think we'll have to go there next year? I wondered if that's the agreement, because for Purdue to agree to this was a big move.
Starting point is 00:24:12 I mean, I can understand Georgetown coming because no one's going to their preseason games anyway. But if Purdue were to host this game, They would fill that arena up and Purdue fans would be very excited. I have to think that we said we would go there sometime. I would think so too. I mean, they have the number one team, one of the best players in the country that they thought was going to transfer or leave and they end up convincing him to stay. Their excitement is as high as it's probably been in a long, long, long, long time and they agreed to go to Lexington.
Starting point is 00:24:41 So I've got to think they get something in return. Do you think Pope's going to ask him not to play zone like Cal used to ask the exhibition guys? I'm disagreeing with the premise Pope's not going to try it. Like, Pope's going to be playing to win. We'll play a lot of people, but if with six minutes to go, he's winning and trying to win the game.
Starting point is 00:24:58 He's not like, let's see what happens with Yellovich here. Yeah, but I think in the first half and throughout the game, they will treat it a little different than they would if it's the final four. They'll get more bodies in and try things just to get a feel of what they happen.
Starting point is 00:25:10 But you're right, that final six minutes, then you want to work on those situations, those late game situations and try to win it. Yeah. Pre-bird. Go ahead, Freebird. Byrd. Hey, guys, a big shout out to Clay County.
Starting point is 00:25:22 I've been working down here last week and a couple of days this week. You've got a lot of listeners down here, guys. I love Clay County. That's, to me, those are good Mountain 13th region people. And what are you doing down there? Well, it's for my work. I do character educating books for first and first graders down here in all the elementary schools. and very great family and support for the children down here.
Starting point is 00:25:52 And you got two businesses where... Yeah, what are the two places that we always like to eat? There's that... Pats. Pats. That's the kind of greasy spoon place. And then what's the place that was really nice that hosted us that one time? It was right next to we did the show.
Starting point is 00:26:07 What was that? It was really, really nice. Whenever you're down here, you've got to eat it Pizza Pro. And I asked him, do you ever listen to? ASR and they go all the time. I said, you ever hear a guy named Freebird call in? And he go, is that you? Just put the big smaller.
Starting point is 00:26:23 Well, listen. It makes the world get smaller, man. Well, thank you very much. Enjoy it. Pizza Pro, good Clay County pizza. I remember Pats really well. Shannon, I wanted to mention something to you. Have you ever heard of Ohio Valley Pizza?
Starting point is 00:26:40 No. Is it in Louisville? Okay. I've never heard this phrase before. You ever heard the phrase Ohio Valley Pizza? I want you to look it up. Look up on your little Google machines, Ohio Valley Wrestling Pizza. Well, of course.
Starting point is 00:26:55 I mean, I've had Ohio Valley Wrestling, but I went to, I was in Knoxville, and I went to a concert a while back. And right down from the Tennessee Theater was a place that said they served famous Ohio Valley Pizza. And I went, what? Because, of course, I'm thinking Ohio Valley Pizza. wrestling, which is Louisville. And I was like, what is Ohio Valley pizza? So I went in and it was the worst thing I've ever tasted in my entire life. It was awful. It's pizza. You can look it up.
Starting point is 00:27:31 That they cook and then after they've cooked it, they put the toppings on it. Sounds like a terrible idea. It's a cold topping pizza. It's a cold topping pizza. They put the pepperoni and the cheese on the pizza. pizza after they cook it. And it's awful. It's the worst thing I've tasted. I wonder why no one was there.
Starting point is 00:27:54 I don't know how that place is open. No offense to it. Next, close to the Tennessee theater. But when did that, when was Ohio Valley pizza a thing? I thought you were talking about there was a restaurant called that. But no, this has its own Wikipedia page as a style of pizza. Had you ever heard of it? No.
Starting point is 00:28:10 And I kind of like dabble pizza. Shannon, you and I live in the Ohio Valley. Never heard of it before. Is there a place in Louisville that serves it? If there is, I'm not aware of it. Are you aware of an Ohio Valley pizza? Never heard of it. And there's square pieces?
Starting point is 00:28:24 They're square pieces. It sounds like a terrible concept. It's a horrible. It tastes as bad. Imagine a hot pizza with cold toppings on top. I would say put this back in the microwave. So would I. Or the oven or something.
Starting point is 00:28:39 It's like the Papa Murphy's Taking Bakes. You just don't bake them. Yeah. That's exactly right. Raw pizza. but A, I can't believe it exists. B, I cannot believe it's named for where we live. And I don't do you, is there one place in Kentucky that serves it?
Starting point is 00:28:55 No, it says mostly Pennsylvania, Ohio and West Virginia, but it was created in Stubanville, Ohio, a guy in World War II ate pizza in Italy and came home and tried to recreate it and obviously wasn't very good at getting it perfect. First of all, that's not what they do in Italy. In Italy, they do cook the toppings. He just tried to do it by memory is what this says here. He forgot the part of putting it in the oven. in Steubenville.
Starting point is 00:29:15 But I guess they're big in West Virginia, too. I had never heard of it. Do not recommend it. It doesn't look good. I was thinking, I mean, I guess Ohio Valley does go into Pittsburgh, but I'm thinking Ohio Valley wrestling. Yeah. And I'm like, our pizza is better.
Starting point is 00:29:30 Our pizza at the arena is better than that. It really is awful. 859-280-2287. We'll take a break. Be right back. KSR. T.J. Smith, personal injury attorney. Call T.J. He'll make them pay.
Starting point is 00:29:43 Now, more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. Here's Matt Jones. So this is the song Taylor Swift did about Charlie 14. That's right. She said, I heard you call me boring at the parties. Boring Barbie. I heard you call me Boring Barbie when the Cokes got you brave. High five my X and then you said you're glad he ghost at me.
Starting point is 00:30:05 Wow. Cokes got, and she doesn't mean Coca-Cola. No, I think she means cocaine. Wow. Taylor gets pretty nasty in her fuse. She's hard. That's why Travis Kelsey can't break up with. No.
Starting point is 00:30:16 If he does, like it is over. She later calls her a toy chihuahua barking from a tiny purse. Wow. I know she had that kind of rage bait in her. And do we know it's about her? Yeah. I mean, I mean, it's, yeah.
Starting point is 00:30:32 Okay. I want to give a shout out. The Lexington Herald leader, who I've been critical with over the years, but they're doing something cool. You know, Lexington's having it's 250th anniversary. Right. So every single day, They're doing something about Lexington.
Starting point is 00:30:46 Okay. History, good fact, bad fact, whatever. They're actually really good. Cool. Today's, I wanted to point out, because it's about UK football. And specifically, it's about Middlesbrough. As many of you know, Kentucky integrated the SEC football, four players, right? Nate Northington, Houston Hogg and Wilbur Hackett, and then a guy named Greg Page.
Starting point is 00:31:13 And a lot of people know Greg Page because the apartments that were at UK. But Greg Page was from Middlesbril. Greg Page and Nate Northington were actually the first two people to come to be on the team. But as freshmen, they were not allowed to play. Then the next year they were allowed to play. But in preseason practice, Greg Page died on the field. He got hit and suffered a neck injury. And I think he ended up dying six weeks later in the hospital.
Starting point is 00:31:41 It's kind of a forgotten part of UK history. He's one of the four people, though, honored in front of the stadium. But the other three played, Greg unfortunately didn't get to play in a game. He's from Middlesbrough. Growing up, I knew his name forever. But this is a neat part of the story I didn't know. So he died in 1967. In 1968, the Kentucky and Tennessee basketball team agreed to play a fundraiser at
Starting point is 00:32:07 Middlesboro High School, a preseason basketball. fundraiser. Kentucky played Tennessee at Middlesboro High School in 1968. So I'm trying to think who would have been on that team. I don't even know. Who would have been like... It was after Rupp's Runtz before Ysell. So that group, whatever it is, they played Tennessee
Starting point is 00:32:27 4,000 people at Middlesbrough High School, which created a benefit that set up a scholarship that still exists to this day, the Greg Page scholarship that sends students from Bell County to the University of Kentucky. Fantastic story. Awesome.
Starting point is 00:32:42 So think about that. First of all, when you see the Greg Page Apartments, which they're talking about tearing down for the entertainment district, unfortunately. But when you see that name, one of the first players to integrate UK football from Middlesbrough, leads to a game between Kentucky and Tennessee in the preseason in Middlesbril. Does anyone remember that? That's the first I've ever heard of this. I'm trying to look up like a box score or something right now as we're talking about. It was a preseason game.
Starting point is 00:33:10 It was on radio. It was just for the people in Bell County. I've never heard of this that I love every second of it, though. And then the money there started a scholarship that is still inactive today. That still exists today for students from Bell County to go to... I'm really glad the Harold Leader writes this story because most people just know the Greg Page name from the apartments. They need to know who Greg Page was and what he meant to this university and how much that devastated the program back in those days. And even though, though, I didn't know about the basketball game.
Starting point is 00:33:35 I didn't either. Had no idea. And so kudos to Tennessee. So the University of Tennessee helped do a game that created a scholarship that still send kids from my home area to UK. The story says the game was played in February, so they would have had to done it during the year. They did it during the year? February, 1968. I guess it didn't count as the regular season game.
Starting point is 00:33:59 So in the middle of the season, they just played a game at Beltsboro High School. In February, 1968, a benefit basketball game was played. played in the Middlesboro gym between the UK and Tennessee freshman basketball teams played it. Still, still very cool. Okay, freshman basketball teams. That's why it didn't count towards the season. That's still cool that they did it though. Yeah. And it says 4,000 people, that's nuts. You know, they ought to recreate that. The Kentucky and Tennessee freshman
Starting point is 00:34:25 do like the 50 year anniversary or whatever, 60 year anniversary and play it at Middlesbrough High School. I need another Tennessee team to hate. Let's set it up. Let's do it for good. Joshua, go ahead, Joshua. Hey guys, thanks for taking my call. With the starting five lineup kind of locked in with low O-WA and garrison in the starting lineup, I was just kind of curious who do you guys think the other two spots for the starters would be and who the sixth man off the bench would be. And also, do you, with how deep the team is,
Starting point is 00:34:54 do you guys see them doing a mass substitution like a white-blue team, 15 kind of thing? No. No. No to that one is. Go ahead. What's your other one? No, no. I was just going to ask you.
Starting point is 00:35:07 We'll tell you last yesterday, I caller brought up the live action one piece for you, Matt. It's eight episodes. It condenses the first 150 episodes of the anime in an 840-minute episodes, and you should definitely check it out. Thanks, guys. All right. Appreciate it. All right, so starters, low and O-A drew are the only ones I would guarantee. I think it's very likely Garrison starts, but I would, low and OA are my only guarantees.
Starting point is 00:35:30 Are we doing to start the year or like February? Because these are different conversations. Let's do both. Because Garrison, to me, is pretty much a lock to start the year. Right now. But that spot could be taken away. Okay. I would, I mean, you're probably right.
Starting point is 00:35:44 I think Quaintance is, depending if he's four or five. Quentin's taking somebody's spot. I can see a world, though, where they start Diabate and just are small. I don't think it happens. I don't think it's going to happen at the beginning of the year. But I could see games where they do it. All right. So let's say low O.A. Garrison.
Starting point is 00:35:58 Opening night, Purdue, who's the rest of the lineup? Deerate. Well, first of all, assume O. Assume O. O.A plays. I assume he will. But let's... Low O.A. Garrison Diabate. Yeah, and then I'm down to Aberdeen or Chandler.
Starting point is 00:36:12 Okay. What do you think? Probably I go back and forth. I'm going to go Aberdeen. I was going to... I thought Jasper Johnson, I don't think he's going to start. So I'm going to say Aberdee. I'm going to say it's going to be low O'A Aberdeen, Diabate Garrison. I think that's it. I think they want Chandler to be maybe their sixth guy because he could play
Starting point is 00:36:31 two or three different positions coming off the bench. I think he's a perfect guy to be that first sub off the bench. Shannon, but the moment Quauntins is available, he's taking someone spot at the That's why I could see it being Diabata and Quaintance. The only thing that worries me about this team, this is my only worry. You remember last year my worry was we can't guard. I think that ended up being a worry most of the year. Here's my worry about this year's team.
Starting point is 00:36:56 I think overall they've got enough shooting. I specifically worry about the four spot. until you get Quaintance. I think Diabate, I don't think he can shoot. So I think if you play him at the four, think about Mark Pope's fours. You got to shoot. Think about Ansley Almanor standing in the corner.
Starting point is 00:37:18 I don't really think he can shoot. And then if you play Cam Williams, I think he can shoot, but I don't know if he can defend and rebound. So that's going to be, I think, a constant back and forth. Can they get what they need from the four? they need Diabate because that Amari Williams role of kind of dribbling and handing off. I think that's going to be what he does.
Starting point is 00:37:42 But he's also going to have to shoot. He had a decent percentage. He just didn't shoot much at Alabama. Yeah, but when you look at his shot. Yeah, I know. Whatever his percentage was, it's not pure. But he's going to offer more at the four than like Andrew Carr ever could have dreamed of doing. And I like Andrew Carr.
Starting point is 00:37:57 Pope just went a completely different direction with that spot this year. Totally agree with you. And maybe he plays a style where the four doesn't have. to shoot. Yeah, I think it's going to be more of that. But the style he played last year, your four's got to hit that corner three, and I don't think that's going to be what he does. But I think, like you said, he'll just kind of rotate those guys, even Yellovich,
Starting point is 00:38:15 you know, if you need to stand out in the corner, like get as many minutes as Almanor did and hit a shot. I don't know, but I think with Elevich, Yellovich and Garrison, that's not a good defensive. So do you move DeBate at the five? I think you're going to, I think people are underestimating how much he's going to play the five. I agree. I think he's going to play.
Starting point is 00:38:32 I think he's actually a great five. And he can do what? But then the question is, can Trent Noah and Cam Williams do enough to be the four? And if the answer is yes, then I think you're good. I think you have too many fives to crowd it with Diabate. He's only six, seven. I don't, I continue to believe there's a very good chance Yellowvich doesn't play much. At least some for a while.
Starting point is 00:38:55 I think everybody just assumes he's going to play a lot. I don't know that that's true. I still see him as more four. I'm talking Garrison, Marino is going to play. I thought he might be Storm on the bench for later. Marino is playing minutes. But I can see Marino playing four. Because I think Marino is a lot more of a four than Yellovich is.
Starting point is 00:39:13 Yovitch cannot guard. I mean, Yolvich is going to be the worst defender on the team. Like, he's Z defending. Yeah. So you just, I think you have to hide him at the five or you can't really play. And it might be the key.
Starting point is 00:39:25 We don't have a true four and a five with the way Popel run the system. Might have a guy, you're calling the five. But in how they play, might have a little bit of a different role. Might be a little more fluid inside. I do like Diabate's role that Amari had last year when he plays the five. I think he can handle that role. I think, listen, we're going to like Diabate.
Starting point is 00:39:44 I just don't think he's a shooter. I do think our guards shoot better than maybe we thought they did. All of them. We've got the men's Lexington Sporting Club team. They have a game Friday, October 17th. It's the final game at home. They play against the Sacramento Republic FC. At 6 p.m.
Starting point is 00:40:03 It's exactly right. Let's say you're like, UK Texas is going to be crowded. We're going to lose. How about Lexington S.C.? Sacramento Republic. First 2,000 fans in attendance. Get it at Lexington SC Beanie, Shannon.
Starting point is 00:40:16 That's cool. Yeah. You can rally behind the lads in green. Didn't you have a couple of them on your show there, Shannon? Speedy and Nick. Is his name really Speedy? I think that's his nickname. He hasn't scored a goal though in three years,
Starting point is 00:40:29 so we've got to get Speedy a goal this Saturday. It's my favorite part of the interview. Billy asked him, like, what his celebration is. He's like, man, I haven't scored in several seasons. He's still celebrate. He still celebrate other people's goals. But you know what? He's scoring this Saturday.
Starting point is 00:40:43 Yeah. You wait and see. Speedy is scoring against Sacramento FC. KSR bump. KSR bump. We got to keep a track, see if Speedy gets his goal. You go to Lexporting.com slash tickets to watch or watch the game on Fox 56. There go.
Starting point is 00:40:59 They're on a hot streak, by the way. They started a little cold. a contender over there. Let's go Lexi to Desc. We'll be right back. KSR. Last night, a blown call changed a game. This morning, the internet lost its mind.

Starting point is 00:42:57 What's up, fam? It's Isaiah Thomas. And I'm C.J. Toledano and our podcast Point Game is about defining the odds. Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed. And finding ways to win no matter what. He's the smartest player to ever play the game. His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before. And he knows without Luca and Austin Reeves, I got to manipulate the game. We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs.
Starting point is 00:43:22 I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series because when they don't have have Rudy in the lineup, he has to really guard guys like Nas Reid. He has to guard Julius Randall. And then he has to give us everything he gives us on the night-to-night basis on offense. And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson, we dive into some playoff history too. Steve Nash would get that thing. That man, hell get the flying. He running up the court, licking his fingers why he got the ball.
Starting point is 00:43:48 Like, after you go through a training camp with that, Isaiah, you figure it out real quick. Get your ass up and down the court, and you're going to get the ball. And the truth about the U.S. national team.

Starting point is 00:45:41 You found, or somebody sent you, Corey Price, the box score for the Kentucky Tennessee freshman game in 1968. So first of all, tell me who was on Kentucky's team. The most recognizable name was Larry Steele. He went on to be all SEC on the big team,
Starting point is 00:45:59 the varsity team. So Larry Steele played at Middlesville. Played the NBA. Okay. From Indiana. A lot of the other guys didn't go on past their freshman year. There's only seven people on the team, but Steve Schmidt led the team in scoring against Tennessee. He had 34 points as Kentucky won by 20. 94. So I'm sitting here looking,
Starting point is 00:46:18 6'11 Steve Schmidt scored 34 points in Middlesbrough High School. Did he play at Kentucky? I don't believe he did. What happened to it? I've never heard that name. Why did Rupp run him off? NIL money. 34 points. 6-11? Yeah. Beating Tennessee? Shannon, where'd this guy? Where'd he go? We had some lean years there in the early 70s, didn't we? Must have been a troublemaker off the court.
Starting point is 00:46:47 It's what I'm hearing. Couldn't get on the court because of something? But wasn't that? Didn't we struggle a little bit late 60s, early 70s? That's the Isle era. But don't you think Yisle could have been helped with 611 Steve Schmidt? How about Greg Starrick, who transferred to Southern Illinois? Because Rupp didn't give him any playing time. and he had the NCAA record for decades for free throw shooting percentage.
Starting point is 00:47:09 He shot 91%. Fire up! He had the record not just for a little bit, for a long time. He ran off Steve Schmidt and Greg Merrick, not even to mention Bob McCowan, 19. Could you imagine Kentucky Sports Radio back then, all those calls to fire up? Let me tell you about...
Starting point is 00:47:27 Where is Greg Sterrick? Well, it gets better. Greg Sterrick committed to Kentucky over the Cincinnati Reds, who offered him more. money, but he still picked the cats and Adolf still wouldn't play him. So he went out and got an NCAA record with the Slukees. Sometimes there's, it's time to make a change. That's why they wanted to send Rupp off the Duke.
Starting point is 00:47:46 Stephen P. has a KS board thread. He found an old book about Rupp. And in it, it's pretty eerie how it reads like Cal. It names an assistant he had who is suggesting new philosophies and Rup was stuck in his old ways. If you read it and changed the names, it could be a book about just a couple years ago Kentucky past. I mean, this would have been about this time of the Cal era.
Starting point is 00:48:07 He's got Steve Schmidt out here dropping 34 on Tennessee. 6-11 dominant big man. He's got Greg Sterrick unstoppable. So Greg is Johnny Juzing. He went off and just started lighting him up. So who's our 6-11 guy that then went and played well elsewhere? Sasha Colet Jones. Yeah, he didn't play great, but Sasha Collette.
Starting point is 00:48:24 No, Schmidt is Z after the Georgia game. Yeah. Smith is, Schmidt is Z. Uh-huh. Exactly. Wow. by the Tennessee had Jimmy England and Louisville Valley high product Bobby Ball. Somebody out there listening knows who Bobby Ball was.
Starting point is 00:48:42 Never thought they'd get a shout out on KSR. Shout out. They just did. Joe and Philly. Go ahead, Joe. Stark average 24 points, by the way. For who? Southern Illinois.
Starting point is 00:48:51 Rob, what are you doing? Let's go ahead. Joe. The underrated lineup pre-game layup line guy. Shaden Sharp, you didn't mention him. Yeah. The whole Shaden Sharp Cal saying come watching
Starting point is 00:49:10 Dunk and Warm Em Ups, that's one. At that stage, I was still kind of trying to like be a Cal supporter, but that he, that was one, I think he lost a lot of fans with that whole Shaden Sharp thing, don't you think? Yes, he did. I really do. And especially he is, well, you can come get to
Starting point is 00:49:26 watch him Dunkin' Warm Ups. That was one, I think, really irritated fans a lot. That's the first time where I actually thought he's toying with the fan base, like kind of mocking them a little bit for even wanting to see this kid, when we should be seeing this kid. Yeah. And we don't get to see him play because he plays in Portland, but he's good. He's really good.
Starting point is 00:49:41 He's really good in the NBA. But go ahead, Joe. Drew, you and Abby kind of Swift fans, right? You guys are gone last week. That's right. I think you're Swift fans. If you are, what's a review on the album from your perspective? I have not listened to the album, so I'm that big of a fan.
Starting point is 00:49:59 She has all around the house, so I'll hear a little bit, but I have not locked into whatever life of a showgirl. Not locked in yet. It's football season. I saw it's the first album. Appreciate the call, Joe, in history to have every single song on the album debut in the top 100. No song, no album has ever done that. Morgan Wallen had an album where they were like 15 songs and 13 of them debuted. But Taylor Swift's the first one to have every single song on the album debut. Good for her.
Starting point is 00:50:30 you don't find that impressive I will not listen to any of them not one you your hatred of her and it goes a long time yeah it does and it's so weird because it's unlike you she seems like she would like you would like her
Starting point is 00:50:48 I think she's a great person okay but that has nothing to do with why you why do you get so angry about her music that had any of their music which I think is average at best but there's probably a lot of music you don't list and like, but you seem to really go after. But you seem to have a special disdain for her.
Starting point is 00:51:06 I hear one of her songs on the radio and immediately turn the channel. Immediately turn the channel. But do you do that with other artists? No. Well, that's what we're asking. So why does she bother you so much? I don't know. You know, it's fingers down a chalkboard, I guess.
Starting point is 00:51:20 Nails. Yeah. Finger nails down a chalkboard. Jim, go ahead, Jim. A little. I'll give you a little information. or just get you dusty. All right, go ahead.
Starting point is 00:51:34 I'll give you a little information about Steve Schmidt. Okay. He left UK to become a professional bowler. No, he didn't. He 611. He's 611. He dropped 34 against Tennessee and left to become a bowler? Yeah, well, he was playing behind Dan Isle.
Starting point is 00:51:57 What would you do? I don't think I would go. into bowling. So was he a good baller? I don't think I would. I don't know. Never heard of him again. He's like being a vice president.
Starting point is 00:52:08 And he just never hear of him again. Wow. All right. Well, interesting. I appreciate the call. Corey Price sent me the news article when he transferred. He wrote in his letter. He wanted to be clear that it does not reflect on the staff or the coaches.
