Well, drama just to get in the building this morning, they closed down the parking garage here at the Civic City Center building. What is the age where, Drew, weather and parking becomes the dominant part of your conversation? Because Ryan has reached that age. When I say, what's going on and the only thing he brings, the first thing he brings up is parking, I do think he's reached that age. Yeah, and I was in the elevator.

You've mentioned elevator small talk. A woman earlier, she just had to say weather. Like I said, Good morning, but she had to talk about the weather outside. So it's those two things. It's the worst thing, Shannon, about coming into this building is the elevator small talk. Because I don't, I don't know what to say to people. Don't say anything to it. You know what? You're not obligated to say anything just because you're in a small space.

But if I wait too long, then I know what's coming. What? How's our basketball team looking this year? Like, I know that's coming. You say good. That's exactly what I say. I think we're going to be really good. But then, like the conversation.

conversation just ends. And then you just want those numbers to start climb as quick as possible. And then we're just staring at each other. And I'm kind of with you, Shannon. I think it would have been less awkward if we had said nothing at all. I'm good with an awkward conversation or just an awkward situation in general. I don't care. It's better to have eight people in the elevator than just two people in the elevator.

The two is the worst when you're just sitting there staring at each other. And people are nice, but I think they feel obligated. They can't stand it. To say something. You know who Billy's like maybe the worst at it. He says as soon as he gets to, he can't stand it. He feels like he's got to say something. And he'll like say something inappropriate.

He'll be like, you have nice feet, woman. Billy talks. He's working out of the gym, so he'll talk to people anywhere. Yeah, and I'm like, you can't say you have nice feet, woman. Like you can't say that in an elevator. Can you say it to a man? No. You can't say it to anybody.

There's a general rule of thumb. You don't talk about people's feet when you see, at least until you know them very well. I can tell you Joe Crawford's got the ugliest feet I've ever seen in my life, but that doesn't mean that you should bring it up to everybody. I stick to the script. Hey, how's it going? Look at my phone. Look at my phone.

Look at my phone. Have a good day. It's all it is. You always have you actually got an answer. You wouldn't like it. Like if they were like, well, actually, Drew, you know, the mortgage payment's going to be tough to come up with. Then you're stuck.

I'm very excited, very, very, very excited. You know, I'd rather have low, but just having the number one team in Rupp Arena, I know it's not going to count towards the resume, but you don't get that very often. Yeah, and Pope was at the, what is it, the Lexington, like talk to the fans event? Yeah, I don't know. I'm sure what they called. I don't know. It's the Lexi, Louisville Alumni Club. Sorry. Louisville Luncheon. Louisville a lot of luncheon. I emceed that for many years. I really like it. They get a huge crowd at that thing. Like, I mean, I don't know what it was yesterday, but having done it a number of times, they get a massive crowd.

They're having a big ballroom and it's always full. It's full. And you get the best, like, flat chicken string green beans. I was about to say that. The banquet chicken and the green beans. means every time. You get the chicken, the green bean salad. You can either choose ranch or Italian. And you have to awkwardly pass the dressing around the table and you're always like, I don't know what it is. I don't know what it is either. No, that's that event. But he spoke at it with his wife. Yeah. It was interesting. I like that, though. Instead of having some Goober interview, have your wife interview. He said that Jalen Lowe was doing great. And he said something to the effect of, I'm going to have to hold myself back. from playing him, which suggested to me, even though he didn't say officially, probably not playing,

but maybe playing when the season starts? Is that kind of how you heard it? Kind of. My first takeaway, if you watch in that video, the moment he says he's okay, someone just shatters a glass plate. They were so excited. It's very loud. You think like Stone Cold's about to come in, right as he gives the big news. But between that and people seeing low at the volleyball game without a sling and kind of being mobile and smiling and then hearing a few people say that the MRI went all right. I'm feeling pretty confident. Pope seems like he wants him.

What would you, would you like him just to sit out these two games? Well, there's two before Louisville, right? Two real games. Nichols stayed in someone. I would try to get him in one of those before the Louisville. I would too. Totally agree with you. But the exhibitions, I wouldn't push him.

But you got to play against Louisville. Well, you don't have to. But I hope he plays against Louisville. Yeah, tiptoe in, take baby steps. Maybe that game right before Louisville. Was it Valpole the one right before? Maybe in United, Tipolell Classic. He knocked the rust off.

He knocked the rust off in that game to getting ready for the Louisville game. All right. So we'll talk, because I do want to talk a little bit about UK Purdue and what we expect. But I think we have to start with Mark Stoops. He did his coach's show last night. And he had a quote that I think everyone is sort of focusing on from last night. Here was this quote. I'll read it to you.

He said, I understand how people may feel about me. That's understandable. and that's warranted. And then he went on to kind of thank the fans for how positive they've been with the players. Now, I don't know about you, but when I read that quote, I understand how fans feel about me. That's understandable and that's warranted. First of all, I give him a little bit of a salute for that because, you know,

he's often been over the years kind of defiant at criticisms. But this goes with what I've been talking about the last few weeks, which is that I think he feels all this. And he knows how the fans feel. And he really wants to win the fans over. But when I heard that last night, while I give him credit for saying, it also sounded a little kind of resignationy. I don't mean like he's going to resign,

but like resign to his fate. Do you agree with that? I do. And I heard it first in his post-game comments Saturday. Yeah. I've mentioned a few times. We've heard from Pope late Saturday, or Pope Stoops, late Saturday night,

his Monday press conference and then his call-in show, and he sounds like a completely different human than he has at any point up until now. Do you think he walked off the field Saturday kind of knowing? I think it sounds that way. I think for a long time, he's either just fully believed he could turn it around or he's kind of been in denial of how upset people are, and the press conference have kind of been sticking to the script. Honestly, you could play about any of his press conferences,

and they sound about the same over the last few months, because he's just sticking to what he's, you know, he's got his message. but Saturday was very apologetic, very much, I feel bad. Which is crazy because it was the best they've played. I mean, you could make a strong argument. That might have been the best game the team's played in two and a half years. And yet, it's almost like he, when it didn't work, was kind of like, okay, this is how it's going to be. That was really the fourth time he said it.

He did it with Tom Leach on the postgame show. He did it with the media in the postgame interview. He did it in the media yesterday afternoon and he did it last night and he did it last night on the coach's show. But when he said

it's understandable how people feel about me and it's warranted. I mean, that's a level of, and he was talking big picture. Like he wasn't talking about losing Saturday night. That's just a level of self-reflection

that you don't see a lot of coaches do that. No, you don't. You know? It's like that it's a defeatist attitude. You already admit you're, failure and coaches just do not do that. But defeat us though makes it sound like it's almost lame. I actually think it's kind of positive that he understands.

You know what I'm? Yeah. I didn't see it like we're quitting. No, no, no, no, I didn't see that either. I didn't, I saw it almost as, look, I get it. I get why you feel this way. And to some extent, it makes it sad to me. When I watched his post-game comment Saturday night, I didn't watch him until after

my postgame show. But I remember thinking this is kind of sad. So with that mind, like how do, what happens over the next few weeks? Leave aside the games, whether we win or lose. But we have like the six week march coming up.

And there have been so much anger. Do you think we trail off into sadness of a love lost like Billy tried to describe to Shannon this morning awkwardly during the pre-shy What do you think? Maybe if they do some kind of announcement, for the longest time, I've thought Stoops wants to be here. He wants to fight through this. He doesn't care what everybody's saying.

He's literally just going back to work like he says every time you ask. Now it feels like he sees the end is near. He wants to be loved here a long time. You know, this was a big alumni weekend. Rich Brooks was everywhere. He probably wants to be that one day where people come back and love him. Do you think that's possible? Okay, so let's assume that's true.

Let's assume he wants that. Because I actually agree with you. He wants that. What's the best way to make that happen right? Like if you want to have a day where you come back here and you get the Rich Brooks receptions, what's the best way for these next six weeks to go? They're going to have to beat somebody and it may have to be Louisville at the end of the season. Get one good win and then maybe beat Louisville.

Okay, well, let's say that happens. But then they still have to part, right? Right. So how do you part in a way that allows him? I think it almost has to be Mark. Like, this isn't working. But is Mark going to have to give up $20 million for people to feel good? I mean, I've wondered, did he just go up to him and be like...

Because Shannon's like, then I don't want to feel good. No, I'd rather feel bad and have $20 million. Yeah. But there's way, like, he could say, look, the 60-day thing, I'll work with you there. There's ways he could help and not get. So is that the way? Yes. Like, if he were to come out and say,

I want my money but to keep you all from being in a spot we can pay it out over the course of the contract do you think fans would say thank you Mark for doing us a solid and he could have that Rich Brooks role

it would definitely help and I don't know if he'd do the length of the contract but any acknowledgement that I should go but I don't want to hurt you all anymore than I have these last couple years I love this place. I didn't want it to get this bad, but it is. Let me help a little bit.

I mean, he's not going to just. Would you do that, Shannon? Say you don't pay me, but would you do the- Pay me throughout the contract? Yes, rather than it all being owed in 60 days. I mean, why do we sign that contract to begin with then if we're going to do this? But we have. I mean, that's a different conversation.

But if you were him, would you agree to that? No. It's like a, you would just say, give me the money. Give me the money. That's why we signed the contract. That's why it's worded it the way that it is. Even if it makes the fan. fans will be fun

they'll be happy when he's gone okay what about you right I think you would do it as long as I got my money I think I'd be okay with extending the deadline like I even like for four or five six years long as I got my money somehow it might be better for you so you didn't spend

it amen yeah you know what that lump song yeah because Ryan would be one of these people who'd be like well I immediately need to to buy this and that so if that happens let's say in year three of the buy of the buy out. He takes a job with Virginia Tech. Then it would, I think it would be offset some of it.

Yeah. So I think it's another way he can kind of get back in our good graces. But then again, there's the question. What's interesting to me is I think a lot of coaches don't care about the good graces. A lot of coaches are what Shannon is articulated. Give me my money. I mean, Jimbo Fisher didn't care about the good graces. James Franklin didn't care about the good graces. But I kind of think Mark does. And all those guys you mentioned, been in a lot of places. This is the place. It's only been a head coach. It's been over a decade. He doesn't, I mean, other than being assistant, he doesn't really know

what it's like to be the top dog anywhere else. He doesn't have any other connections that could pull him there. But he could be, I mean, he could be our Rich Brooks after Rich Brooks. He could. Yes, he could. He could because there are positive things that happen here. He's still the winningest his coach ever here.

So I just think it's interesting. When I saw that quote, especially the, it's warranted. That is a change of tune from him. Because he used to say, like, your criticism in this game is warranted. But then he'd be like, but you know what? We've won a lot here, people. Like, back up. And now he's shifting that. It's warranted seemingly to the state of the program. And that is a shift in the way he's talking. A big shift. You're right. He always used to get a yeah, but. He would always be a yeah, but. Don't you all understand?

That was kind of his, well, that's going away now. And I just find that interesting. If Mark were to step aside in the Lail, UK, to pay the bailout over the time, I would salute him and welcome him back in the future. I think there's a lot of people that feel that way.

One person writes, Matt, I think it would be good if he would spread. the buyout over the remainder of the deal and agree that $1 million a year of it will go to NIL. I don't think he's going to do that. Why would he? Why would he do that? Especially if he starts coaching somewhere else. I'm going to give you $1 million of my money for you to get the players that I'm trying to get. That I'm not coaching.

And yeah, that maybe I'm trying to recruit against. I think Drew that's probably unlikely. Yeah. I don't even think he would agree to the length of the deal, but longer than 60 days could help a little bit. I'll give you 90 days. When a person says, Matt, why didn't he do something like Otani with the Dodgers where they pay a lot of it on the back end? Well, Otani did that, but he's on the team. We would be getting rid of him, Shannon, and then paying on the back end.

That's a little different that Otani still being on the team and doing it. Yeah, that doesn't make any sense. And I think he's going to stick with saying, hey, you got to pay me my money. I don't think he's going to give on that. You know, he got, Otani got a $700 million contract. I saw a story yesterday that the Dodgers have already made that back. Oh, easily, probably. We say easily, $700 million a lot of money.

But apparently with like Jersey sales. Jersey sales in Japan. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, that's amazing. And don't they play a preseason game over there? They have. I think they do.

So, yeah, it's pretty. Did you watch the baseball last? Loved it. Yeah, I'm into it. George Springer hit the three-run home run? 36 years old guy, limping around the bases. He's hurt. and hits the home run.

Got his Kurt Gibson moment. Got his Kurt Gibson moment. Yep. Yeah. It was exciting. In Toronto, you know, all of Canada's happy. Like, we hit them with tariffs. They make the World Series.

Used to really drive Max crazy. We call it the World Series. He's like only two countries play. I don't know how you can say it's a World Series when you are not in the rest of the world. But nevertheless, are you excited to watch Dodgers Blue Jays? Well, remember, I'm banned from the Blue Jays, so I can't watch. Yes.

But my favorite thing is I remember little chubby Vlad Jr. standing by his dad. And that picture went viral. It was like, this kid's going to the World Series now. So I thought that was pretty cool. I love moments of people celebrating. And that video after the home run of the place going insane, that's very cool. Like any sort of thing like that I love. Yeah.

A friend of mine sent me some video of outside the stadium, out in the streets outside the stadium. People were, you know, celebrating, partying it makes you want to be there. Yeah, it's a very Canada thing. I feel like they did that for the Raptors, too. They all stand out. I mean, other cities do it too. But they stand out there. It feels like the whole country and watches it.

Are you four, Shannon, the Blue Jays or the Dodgers? Oh, the Dodgers. I've hated the Blue Jays for 33 years. Remember 1992, the Braves and Blue Jays? Well, that was the Phillies. Ninety one. 93 was the Phillies and Blue Jays. Braves were 92 with the Blue Jays.

Blue Jays won it back-to-back years. Yes. Who was on that Blue Jays team? Steve? Dave. David Cohn. David Cohn. That's right.

Yes. Devon White in center field. Oh, wow. John Olerud at first base. Was he on the team then? Yeah, he wore the helmet. He wore the batting helmet when he played in the field. I'm kind of for the Blue Jays, though.

I feel like the Dodgers are going to keep winning forever. We might as well have somebody different. We can't let the Dodgers win. I don't care for the Blue Jays, but they're the evil empire. Candy Maldonado? Oh, my goodness. Dave wins. All right, that's plenty.

Stop. Let's go to Byrd. What's up, Byrd? Ed Sprigg. Stop with Ed Spray. No one wants to hear Ed Spray. Go ahead, Bird. Here's the DH. So I'm not calling to complain about you can't on having a grass field like I can normally do.

But what I do want to ask you guys was if you saw Shannon Sharp, Chad Ochosenko, and Johnny Manzell's comments post game. I did. Here's the thing. I love Ochosico being part of the whole UK thing. He was nice to Mario. I love all that. So I'm pro Ocho Cinco. I also have learned that you have to be careful when you, like, break down their analysis totally

because Ocho Siko said all Kentucky does is run draw plays. And then somebody looked it up, they didn't run one draw play the whole game. So, you know, but his point about they don't throw down field is correct. But I, I saw, he basically criticized the play calling the whole game. I have criticisms on the end, but I would also argue, though, Byrd, the play calling is what, I mean, we were in overtime with a team that's got a lot. more talent than us, you know? Yeah, I would agree.

And also, I wanted to say I was at the game, had a great time at the game. But Chad Johnson or Tococinco said he heard students and everybody chanting fire stoops. I did not hear that. Maybe that was just a student section thing. I did not hear. I appreciate the call.

I did not hear it in the crowd where I was sitting. But I was like far away from the students. So I didn't hear it. I heard it a lot after the game. Now I'm in the press box, so I don't hear the fans. but I heard it like in the park, you know, we're out there for the rapid reaction. I heard people going to their cars yelling it, not so much during the action. It is interesting to me about Stoops.

It's the exact opposite of what it was with Cal two years ago. The younger fans dislike Stoops the most, which is all. Yeah. Because they were the ones, the younger fans, a lot of them, that wanted to keep Cal the most. Whereas the older fans were caught. Now, I think in this case probably most people are ready to move on, but it does seem like Brian, it's the younger fans, 25, 30 and under that are the most anti-stoops. I hadn't thought about that, but you're right.

And we saw the group. You think it's just because they were never used to us being bad? They don't know. That's got to be. UK football. They don't know those days we were one in 10 and two and 10 and those back in those days. I mean, I think when you, now there are older people who want him gone a lot too, but the younger fans have just a, and I think part of it is the younger fans sided with

Cal and the Stoops versus Cow rivalry a few years ago. I see a lot. I think the younger fans are meaner. The old people, they can still be mad, but they'll be like, he had a good few years, but, you know, they at least add a caveat. If I have some positive memories, a lot of young people are just like, get them out of here. The older people are still mad, but they, at least throw in a, it was good for a little while. I mean, we do, those of us that are a little older do have the, I remember when we were pitiful, right?

and that's a little different than we should win. But one of my arguments is losing its strength, which is this argument that you can't win at these other places. I just don't think that's true anymore. It is not true anymore. I think the landscape has changed, and if you get the right guy, you can, maybe you can't win a national championship,

but you can make a playoff at a lot of these places, right? You're exactly right. You know, the student section, though, was completely full. They were loud. They were, and they were there early. Yes, they were. They're very early. So yet they still love the program, love the support,

but yet they're going to turn on their coach. Yeah. Josh, what's up, Josh? This is Josh from Henderson, Kentucky. I just wanted to call you guys and see if you would give a shout out to my son and his football team. He plays for North Middle School here in Henderson, and he's playing in a state playoff tonight. So I just want to see if you guys wish him good luck and wish the team luck. I do wish him luck.

You know, I wish Henderson North luck. I appreciate the call. I don't like to take sides in these middle school football games. I'm for all Kentucky teams. Yeah, what if they're playing Middlesbrough? We don't know who they're playing. I'm from Madisonville, so I don't know if I can speak on that one. Yeah.

Well, he's from Evansville, Indiana. And he, when I was working in media in Evansville, he was, that was he was in his heyday. So he's a big hero. I got Don Mattingly autographs. I got one of his bats. I got a bunch of stuff. That's twice his name that's come up. Who, Don Mattingly? Yeah. Yeah. He was talking about it last week.

Who, you and Don Mattingly? Yeah. I feel like I've heard that story 45 times, but I still like it, because he gets excited. He's from Evansville. And then he, it's almost like he has the Don Magley script in his head and he just hits the button, Shannon, and then it comes out. Yeah, because you say, like, what were the big stories when you were there doing the news? And he said, Don Mattingly. Don Mattingly. You always say Don Mattingly. That's his one. It was the story. Evansville forces Don Mattingley on you. When you cross the bridge, they're like, hey, by the way, did you know Don Mattingley's from here? You should go eat at Madingley's and just Mattingley, Maddingley, Maddingley. One person writes, Matt, you are exactly right about the younger fans.

They're not used to losing games like that. We've lost games like we lost Saturday a hundred times in the past. It is true. One of the things Stoops did during his tenure is he got us to kind of forget the oh no how's kentucky going to blow this right because he had a number of years where we won games like this yes absolutely you know i mean there was a time though even in his first couple years where you just knew how was this going to fall apart and break our hearts remember those first few years here we had that game we played at mississippi state we almost beat him we watched it with the scler brothers if you remember out at drakes and then like we lost to florida when they the the play clock

was it zero and they didn't call it. You remember that? Oh, yeah. And we had the holding call that one year. Like, there were all these years. And then all of a sudden he turned it around and we started winning those games. But people forget that for most of my Kentucky football life, we lost games like Saturday all the time. Yeah.

Every time a game was like that, how is it going to break my heart? Kentucky football fans can name 100 plays where we lost a game. But then something switched and you started getting your Lamar fumble, your McGinnisville, your McGinnisville. your Bud Dupree run back, your C.J. Conrad at Missouri at South Carolina, running back the two-point conversion. It's like Kentucky started making the winning plays in the fourth quarter. And those college kids now were eight, nine, ten years old going to these games, tailgating, and when it was fun, so they remember those glory days. All right, so I'm going to throw out this in between these phone calls, do a couple quick stories. Did you see? Big Z, Vich said, I got contacts, and now I can see the rim for the first time in three years.

I first of all, should have done that before. Remember the Harrison twins? Oh, yes. Squinting. And was it Andrew Harrison, squinting? And they're like,

oh, he got contacts. And he actually did play better after he got contacts. Is there a chance there's a Big Z revival at Illinois this year because he could actually see?

If not for that Georgia game, I need him to explain the Georgia game. Was he just aiming at the middle rim between the three blue rooms? Blind luck. That's what it was. It is funny. that he's played basketball for this long.

And, you know, especially at Arkansas and in Kentucky when he was here, there's all this technology, all these doctors, at no point no one's been like, hey, man, you can't see you. But do you think Cal teams don't check eyesight? Well, you mentioned the Harris. Because it's the same thing with Andrew Harrison. Yeah.

He was the same way. He was like, I couldn't see last year. And now, you know, Z. I don't think these guys have to have a basic physical. I mean, you would think they would check stuff like that. I don't think they check your eyesight. Well, we need to start. I'm going to be on the side of the fence that his eyesight was okay

when he was here. Maybe he started getting bad at Arkansas, and then he got the Illinois, and it really got bad. Something about the Illinois air messed with his eyesight, maybe. Well, let's say, if he has a big year at Illinois, shoots the ball really well. That would be hilarious. If it was like, oh, oh, this is what I'm aiming at all. This is easy. What? Yeah, because you're right. If there's three rims and you have to hit one of them, it's hard a game. Aim for the one in the middle. Yeah. So, uh, be interesting to see. But yes, it was it was an Andrew or Aaron that couldn't see it was Andrew right well that's kind of both of them honestly yeah they both squinted a lot do twins have the same eyesight they probably had the same genetic makeup yeah I mean are you just saying that or do you know well I was married to a twin for a long time and they do shit you all talked about their eyesight a lot

you took her and her sister they both got shannon they went and got their eyesight measured all the time yeah together let me see Better one or two. I didn't realize you were married to a twin. My first wife was a twin. Did you all ever pull any pranks? No. No antics. Were they identical?

They did. They did it with you? Did they ever test to see if you knew which one was which? Not with me, but they did it with another guy back in Owensboro. So does that mean you were attracted to her sister? Let's not get into this. I'm just saying. She's the same.

It is a fair point. Shannon and I have wondered that exact thing. If you date a twin. Are you attracted to your one? Are you allowed to say you're attracted to the sister? I mean, I think it's probably implied, right? I mean, it's something you don't want to answer because a no could go wrong. Amen.

Hey, Matt, two questions for you. Question number one. I wanted to kind of hear what you think the best, the best situation. is for Kentucky football looking ahead. I know Vandy is definitely on the rise. I don't think that game is winnable. You mean this year? This year?

This year. Yes, sir. Well, I mean, the best situation, if you were to say, okay, what if every single thing went right, then you would say beat Florida, beat Auburn, steal one of Vandy Louisville, get to six. I don't think that's going to happen. I think the most likely situation is,

we'll win one of these games. We'll pull one of these out. We'll finish four and eight. That's what I think is most likely. The worst situation is you go three and nine, and after the Auburn or Florida game, the kind of team just quits and you get run out of the stadium by Louisville and you beat Tennessee Tech by three at the buzzer.

I mean, like that's the worst scenario. But I think the most likely scenario is we steal one of these and we finish four and eight. Yeah, yeah. Question number two, a name that I've kind of been thinking about that I'm not really heard a whole lot of people mention former offensive coordinator, Shannon Dawson. Yeah, we can't do that.

Offensive coordinator. I mean, it didn't work here. Like, that's not going to make me excited. But if it did, you would have liked it. Yeah. I just I also think maybe yeah, I don't want to get into it. That's probably not going to happen. I mean, maybe that'll change, but I doubt it.

Yeah, yeah. It's, I mean, I just, yeah, I know that his tenure wasn't the best here, but he did come back and beat us with Southern Miss. And, you know, he's doing really well. And he's obviously done a good job with Miami. Yeah, I appreciate the call. Let me ask you a question. I don't like to talk about other coaches when you have a coach.

But you know what? It's Tuesday. All the names that are out there, what's the one that UK fans would be the most excited about? Okay, the one that if it was announced, everybody goes crazy. Let me give. And I mean, realistic. Okay. So here are the realistic names in theory I could see being that. Summerall, Will Stein, Brian Hartline, Dan Mullen.

I don't know if James Franklin's realistic, but let's just throw him in there. I don't think Mitch would hire him for a variety of reasons. Let's throw him in there. Who am I missing that's out there that could be someone that people would want? I kind of like Arizona State coach I don't know if he would come here He's got some fire Yeah I like him too

I'm going to say he probably wouldn't come But maybe But he's already been in the playoffs So I don't know why he would do that So let's just take those five I just said Summ Raw Stein heart lied Mullen Franklin

Which of those gets introduced And fans are the most excited I still think it's Sumerall By far Stein's popular But I think a lot of the common fans Still don't really know who it is Sumrall played here, coached here not that long ago, and it's been in the conversation

for a couple of years. If you've been paying attention at all, you know of who John Summoral is right now, then I would go Stein second. For me, James Franklin is 150th. But you think the young guys get people more excited than the names people know? Yes, and the idea of having, especially with Summaw, Pope leading basketball and Summerall leading football. You have two former players who are young and have endless,

energy. I think that would be fun. What about you? Drew's dead on. It is John Summerall at the top. Then there's a big drop, I think, the Will Stein. Just because we've been talking about John Summer all now for over two years. What if it was, what, Dan Moward? I don't know if Mitch would do that one. And I wouldn't love it, but it wouldn't be the worst thing. I wouldn't hate it. Yeah, I wouldn't hate it. I mean, he's won. His reputation. He's won. He won more at Florida. I mean, the only thing that got him out fired at Florida was losing to us. I mean, he was, he, he, he won like, what, nine or ten? He won like, what, nine or ten? 10 straight games in there at Florida. Three or four years won nine or ten. It's just they kind of didn't. And in Mississippi State, he just kicked our tail every year. Yeah, and he was undefeated at UNLV until last week. I would say that's a name.

I mean, I think the most likely scenarios we get one of these young guys. But I would just say, if it ends up happening, don't dismiss that name. I think we have a AD with some connections to him. But I think everybody just hates him. And his record against, in like meaningful games is not good. But, I mean, if our record of meaningful games were that, we'd still be fine with it. I mean, we, we, our record. That's our record in non-meaningful games. This has not been great in the last few years. Well, our record against James Franklin in meaningful games is one of the know. Yeah.

On Mullen. Now, he ran up the score on us. Oh, you mean in the Penn State? Yes, yes. On Mullen, Barnhart has the Florida AD, and he had the Mississippi State ID while Mullen was there, so he will have his research done on Mullen. Yeah, a lot of people keep saying Dillingham, that's not going to happen.

Because, I mean, he went to Arizona State, too. So you're going to leave your alma mater to come to Kentucky. I mean, why would you? I forgot he was an alum. Why would you do that, right? Yeah, somebody texted me, the Vanderbilt coach. Same thing. He went to Vanderbilt.

He played at Vanderbilt. Yeah, I mean, the Vanderbilt coach didn't leave it either. You have to remember, like, those jobs are now equal or better than our jobs. Yes, it is now. Yeah, I mean, so there might have been a day you could have taken the Van der Coach. I don't know that that day is here. Not right now. It's here now.

One person writes, Matt, what do we think about, Cutter Bowley's improvement. Is he the quarterback of the future? Depends on who the court, depends on the coach, right? I mean, I think you could say if Mark Stoops was the coach next year, I would want cutter Bowley back, wouldn't you? I absolutely would. You know, you're trying to see him start to develop a little bit with Willie Wadriguez and Harley Gilmore. Who?

Willie Wadweges. It is hard to say. I do that too. You said Willie Wauwage. It's hard to say when you're talking fast. Willie Rodriguez? Yeah. Harley Gilmore. They're all sophomores.

You know, they're all something like in young and kind of. to build their office around. He was doing his Elmer Fudd. When we wabwee is. He was a wastly wadbid. He was with a wastly wadded. I mean, I love cutterbole and I, we have seen him get better every single game.

Yep. But your quarterback next year is going to depend on who your coach is. I think you don't bring in someone if you bring in another coach. You don't, you don't let them cook the meal unless they can pick the ingredients, right? So we saw that with with, uh, with level. or with Cohen and Devin Leary, right? Devin Leary may have been perfectly fine,

but it wasn't the kind of quarterback Cohen likes, right? And the same thing might have been true with Bush and Vandergriff last year, right? Yeah, but I would say unless that coach has one to bring, he might see Cudder Bowley Willie Willie, right, while we guess Harley Gilmore.

I'll throw in Jason Patterson. There's a lot of second year guys in that offense that you can work with. Adam Luckett made a great point on the pregame show if you didn't hear it. Luckett looked at our roster and basically said we had two recruiting classes that stunk. That stat, he said. Blew me away.

So think about this, Shannon. The 21 and 20, was it 22 and 23? The 22 and 23 recruiting class, we only have seven dudes left from those two classes. And only a couple of them. Combined. Seven. And we only have one that plays a lot. Yeah.

Ty Bryant, I think was one. Alex Afari. Al-Fari. That's crazy. And those are supposed to be your seniors and juniors. And it's a lot of names we know. I mean, I think even Wilcox, who's one of the seven on the team, is one of those. It doesn't apply.

Maybe he's not. But regardless, the ones that left, a lot of them were big pieces of your program. Think about when you got like Keontay Goodwin and Grant Bingham as these huge offensive linemen. Neither one of them played college football, but those were two of your biggest. And his point was you missed on all those. Now, in that sophomore class, we hit on a lot of guys. But we didn't hit on any juniors and seniors, which is a good point. I hadn't really thought about it until he R-T.

I mean, we only have seven guys from two classes left. Blew my mind when he said that. That's amazing. Jerry, go ahead, Jerry. Hey, Matt. I don't know how much you've been following us and go with the suits as to go on in Florida because that may end up affecting Kentucky because, you know, Spurter is really close to the athletic director down there. And he's got a

podcast every weekend. He's does a radio show. But anyway... Former Kentucky SID Scott Strickland. So yeah, but go ahead. Right, right, right. But anyway, Spurter's got an office down the hall for him and sit in his box every week for the football games. And the two coaches Spurter talks about all the time

are Brom and Drinkwitz. And Brom most of all. And I suspected if they'll get Kiffin and everybody kind of thinks it's not going to happen, but if they'll make kiffin say no but if they'll get kiffin they're going to come after jeff brom big time and little wams get ready to pay it to back up the bank branch chart to keegan yeah but they would i think and i appreciate the call i mean now he might still want to go because you could win a national championship at florida but again jeff brom went to louisville like getting these guys to leave their

alma mater's got to be hard right i agree but i was surprised see this i got an email this morning said odds to be next florida's next coach and jeff brougham was second under lane kiffin Kiffin was 2 to 1, brahm was 3 to 1. So something maybe is brewing. I mean, Lane Kiffin has to take that job, right? Like he's made for that job. Lane Kiffin at Florida. Seems that way.

Ole Miss could give him a big payday, but just the talent pool in Gainesville. But it's just, I just think, well, I, you, Lane Kiffin is like the spiritual air to Steve Spurrier, right? He's even been open about high he loves him. Yeah. Like the same sort of brashness. I mean, I feel like if you wanted to get Florida football back, Lane Kiffin's the way to do it.

Right. It's like father's son. They're like, yeah, the mentor protege. That is the guy. That's perfect fit for Florida. He would just be his perfect mentality. Yep. Yeah.

Charlie, go ahead, Charlie. Hey, Matt, I've been a huge Mark Stu fan and Kentucky football fans for my entire life. Met Mark coming off the plane at R.J. Corman. Almost had a heart attack at Papa John Stadium when they beat Lamar. And he bought my meal one time. whenever I made him at a restaurant. So I've been an absolutely huge fan. Yeah.

The last two years, it's been pretty tough. If I'm Mark, I don't know what the drawback is, but I would take an extended contract, a buyout of like 10 years, just spread my contract without 10 years. What's the drawback of that? Well, I mean, there's a drawback of, you know, for people who have a lot of money, if it's the same amount, you'd rather have it up front

so you can invest it. And so you can make money. on your own money. It's the same theory as to why banks want you to put money in so that they can go make the money from your money. Think about 10 years of interest. Yeah. I mean, it's, but yeah, it's exactly, or 10, not just interest, 10 years of investment. So that's why the answer is, but you're exactly right. The core amount is the same and money is worth less over time because of inflation and other things. So that's the, that's the counter to it. I would, I would say, well maybe if it's no strings attacked,

he can go coach anywhere he wants to and make more money. Well, I mean, I appreciate the call. Is he going to get a job? He's not going to get a job that pays him this amount of money. No, not this amount of money. I mean, he'll get a job. He could get a job. There'll be a lot of job.

But I think he'll, I honestly think his next job would probably be at like a PAC 12, or not PAC 12, doesn't even exist anymore, but Big 12 ACCC secondary school, right? it'd be it like, I don't know, Boston College. Yeah. What have Iowa finally opened? I mean, but do they, I mean, would they?

If any team loved his style, it's all they know. Now, he would be good there. But I still don't think any of these jobs, he's not going to get paid when he gets paid here. Not right now.
