Hour number two, Techiesports Radio, 859-280-2287. Text machine is 772-7445254 here, enjoying a nice Sunday morning. Sunday morning.
Starting point is 00:03:27 I was looking Sunday morning was on this screen right here and I just said what I saw. Nice Tuesday afternoon, Matt Ryan and Drew. One person writes, Matt, Ryan is right. It's better to be social than by yourself. Well, I don't actually disagree with that in theory. I think we're like communal beings who should be with other people. I'm just saying you have to be alone sometimes, right?
Starting point is 00:03:51 If people who are alone all the time, I don't think that's healthy either. I don't either. I mean, I don't think it's healthy to be like constantly by yourself. I actually think that's bad behavior too, but I think it's like a balance. I think the fact I've been around kids and wives and family my whole life, I've never really had to ever, ever be by myself. That's why I'm having a hard time adjusting to it. Yeah, but we're going to get you there.
Starting point is 00:04:13 And next week is a good start. How many days I got to do this? Seven. Seven days. Seven. You're going to love it. You're going to start doing it all the time. I don't think that's going to happen.
Starting point is 00:04:23 We'll see. I did. You were, he was at Drake's last night on a Monday night party in it like 8.30 at night. Yeah. Didn't you go to Drake's after you did the Jeff Donuts Challenge? I mean, you see your... We did. Have you had any donuts since then?
Starting point is 00:04:35 The guy that brought the donuts to the show, I had one of those. That's the first donut you've had since you did the donut challenge. Yes. Yeah. And I can't eat a regular glazed donut maybe ever again. Really? You don't think you can? No.
Starting point is 00:04:46 Uh-uh. I made my mouth. Slobber. Flobber? Yeah. What is flobber? Slobber. Okay.
Starting point is 00:04:52 There have been three people that I know of that have tried to do the challenge since you with those Jeff's donuts and no one has succeeded. Nobody can do it. It's unbelievable. So we may have picked an impossible challenge. In hindsight, and it wasn't even the case when the challenge is made, I don't think, but the Jeff's donuts are just a different animal. That's a different animal. That's exactly right. It seems like very few people are rooting for cow. I've gotten probably 150 messages,
Starting point is 00:05:23 and it looks like maybe four people rooting for him. I saw the one guy sent me a message. He goes, I did last year when they had like several of our former players and our former recruits that we got to know. Okay, that makes some sense. Because if you like to do or Wagner or Z, yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:05:40 But now if the big Z's gone, a do's gone. Yeah, Wagner. He's not going anywhere. He's still there. Poor Wagner, man. I want to, I actually, he is one. I do hope plays well. I would like him to play well because he seems like a good guy to me.
Starting point is 00:05:53 And I think, you know, it's not his fault that people thought he was better than he is, right? I actually wanted him to get away from that operation. I think I wish he had to. I think he had to go somewhere else. Even though I wanted them to lose, I felt bad when he had that one-on-one buzzer beater that never stood a chance in the tournament last year, the last shot they took of the season. Even though I was a horrible shot and it was very on John Caliperie in that position. I felt bad that wagging. had to be the one to go through that.
Starting point is 00:06:20 But he played great against us at Rupp Arena, man. Two things I think are interesting. First of all, I want to give a shout out to Mark Pope. This is like, this doesn't affect most people, but I think most people will appreciate what this symbolizes, which is Mark Pope has invited the people that follow the media that covers UK basketball to come to a press conference and practice tomorrow. and bring one member of their family,
Starting point is 00:06:51 or if they have children, bring all of their children. So basically, he's allowing people who cover the games to bring their kids to practice. And in my case, I'm bringing my parents. Larry is 88 years old, and he's never gotten to see. How awesome is that? And now tomorrow, I'm going to get to take him and my mom to Rupp. to see UK practice. My guess is I'll probably get a chance to introduce them to Mark Pope.
Starting point is 00:07:26 They're going to be like through the roof excited. And other people are going to get to bring their kids, etc. Now, I know a lot of people are like, oh, who cares? It's the media. But two things. One, this is just kind. For a lot of these people, this job takes them away from their families. And like you get to bring their families.
Starting point is 00:07:46 But two, it's also smart in the sense of like if it's a good PR move, right? All these people are going to be writing about you. If you do something really nice for them, sometimes it makes it harder. But just on a personal level, I just want to thank him because my parents are so excited about it. Right. And I'm sure there are people who are doing this who like their kids are now excited about it. And it's a regular practice.
Starting point is 00:08:14 I just think, Ryan, that's the. kind of thing. Small gestures in life can go really a long way. And that's a small gesture that for a lot of people will matter a lot. Yeah, and I think Pope gets what UK basketball means to every generation. Like, you're going to bring your dad. I'm bringing my son. You know, it extends all the way from an 18 year old to an 88 year old because that's what Kentucky basketball means. So you're going? I'm going with Josiah. Okay, good. Yeah. What about you? Are you going? I'm going. Yeah. very cool everything you said and it's just so different than what was so different it used to be I'm going to tell them noon I'll get there at one they can wait and then I'll talk about them behind their backs
Starting point is 00:08:55 now it's like a genuine appreciation for the media and it's been that way I'll start with he's on time but also he's talked to people just thanking them for covering the team there's been a lot more pro media stuff from him and part of it is a PR move I get it but I do think he has a genuine an appreciation for the people writing the stories and telling the stories of his players. He's done that. I think something similar with various people that work in the building, like whatever people do in the building, they've gotten to do something like that. I don't even know that. I've heard that. I don't know. So I just, I think that's very cool. But it's also a symbolic gesture to me of how he understands the program. He understands
Starting point is 00:09:35 that this is bigger than him. That's right. And I just, I think it's really nice. And I'm looking forward to tomorrow, Larry looking at me and going, now, who's that guy? Now, he'll know who Trent Noah is. Oh, I bet he does. That'll be the one player he'll know because he's from Harlan. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:09:53 But everybody else, I might, we're not allowed to live stream it. But I would like to live stream Larry watching the practice. Larry Cam, Mike him up. I think the Larry came. Larry commentary wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. just the fact he's inviting us to watch practice. It's opening up, you know. And by the way, they get to come to press conference.
Starting point is 00:10:12 Yeah, that's going to be kind of cool. Larry asking a question? I'm not, I'm going to see my mom to ask a question. She'll ask, I'm going to say, Mom, you get my question. She was a prosecutor. She could ask something hard core during, if she won't. She could probably relate to Pope on that level. Yes.
Starting point is 00:10:29 Second, little story I wanted to get your take on. In Lexington, yesterday, A couple, or excuse me, in Richmond, a couple showed up at the Texas Roadhouse. Is there a Texas Roadhouse in Richmond? Oh, yeah. Yeah. A couple showed up at the Texas Roadhouse in Richmond and told the owners that this was their 533rd different location that they've been to the Texas Roadhouse.
Starting point is 00:10:54 They travel America and only eat at Texas Roadhouses with the goal of visiting every city that has a Texas roadhouse. They were in Richmond, Kentucky this week. It's number 533. So here's my question for you. Is that cool or not cool? I'm going to go with cool. I wish there's something I could do when I retire.
Starting point is 00:11:24 Let's just get in our RV and let's just drive across the country, see these little towns. I might pick something different than a Texas roadhouse. No, no, no. That's what I'm asking. Of course, traveling to all these towns, that's cool. That's cool. But what if it requires you?
Starting point is 00:11:37 to eat at the Texas Roadhouse in all of these towns. You get to go to all these places with all this cuisine, but you have to eat the same food. They do have really good rolls. Really, really good rolls. But would they be really good? 533 straight days. That's pushing it.
Starting point is 00:11:55 Drew? I've been following their journey for a long time. I'm actually, I was trying to see if they're eating the same meal because that would be tough to pull off. That would be tough. But I think it's very cool they're doing it. They got their little Texas Roadhouse hats. They're probably getting well.
Starting point is 00:12:07 welcomed every time they show up at a new one. Ryan's right. The rolls, I don't know how they're not 800 pounds right now, but I think it's cool that they're doing it. I think it's very cool that they're using something to encourage them to see the country. Yes. Yeah. COVID ruined this, so we didn't do it. But my friends and I had made a decision that we were going to pick a random day of the year. And we were trying to think, what is something that's everywhere in the country?
Starting point is 00:12:32 And we realized WWF, WWE is everywhere in the country. So we were going to just pick a random day in the year, like February 6th, and go look. And wherever WWE was that day, that's where we were going to make our next group vacation. Not to see WWE. But that's how we were going to, rather than sit and go, oh, let's go here, let's go there. And then you could end up somewhere that you otherwise would never go. Right. That's why I love our KSR road trips.
Starting point is 00:13:02 Exactly. So we did it. And we came up the first time. it was Richmond, Virginia. And we were like, well, we would never go to Richmond, Virginia. But now we'll go to Richmond, Virginia. And we scheduled it, but then COVID hit and we didn't get to go. And now we haven't restarted that.
Starting point is 00:13:17 But I do like the idea of using the Texas Roadhouse because most people like they wouldn't, those people probably would have never visited Richmond, Kentucky, otherwise. Correct. And now they do it because of Texas Road. I get experience what Kentucky life is about a little bit. You know, I'm sure they spent the night in Kentucky or close to it, close to Richmond. Yeah. So I like the idea.
Starting point is 00:13:36 I could not go to all these places and continue to eat at the Texas Roadhouse. I wonder what their doctor says about it. Like, hey, I love you're doing this. It's good. You're out being active, but you're having a lot of blooming onions. Let's say you were to go to Richmond, though, and eat the most, the best Richmond place. Where would you, where would we pay? What's the best restaurant in Richmond?
Starting point is 00:13:55 What's the wing place? The one place's got the good wing. Richmond Garden. Madison Garden. Madison Garden. Where's that? They have probably the outside of our wings at KS Bar. Maybe they're number two.
Starting point is 00:14:06 Where is that? I've never heard of this. Close to downtown. I've never seen you this excited about a place. It's really good. It's kind of a hole-in-the-wall type of place. And you go a lot? I've been a couple years since I've been down there.
Starting point is 00:14:20 Madison Garden. Madison Garden. Because of Madison County. Yes. Okay. Yeah. So if I go. Get the wings.
Starting point is 00:14:27 It's going to be worth it. The wings are worth it. All right. Madison Garden. Congrats on the free plug from Ryan Lemon. Do you know a place? I don't eat in Richmond much, because I live so close to there.
Starting point is 00:14:38 I think my last two meals in Richmond were at Hooters. I'm not going to recommend Hooters. There is a... I feel like I'm at the Richmond Cains all the time. Yeah. There's a Mexican restaurant in Richmond they're really proud of. I think Gruden even named dropped it in his unboxing. Does that ring a bell?
Starting point is 00:14:53 There's a Mexican restaurant in Richmond? Yeah, I'm not going to be able to produce them. John Gruden knows? He unboxed the E.KU stuff and even name dropped the restaurant. I saw a lot of people replied, oh, he knows Richmond, you know. Well, I want to know what that is. I want to go there too. So I'm going to go to the Madison Garden.
Starting point is 00:15:09 Someone listening knows what I'm talking about. Casa Fiesta maybe? That's every Mexican restaurant. I'm just telling you. I'm just telling you. The Grewd name dropped it. He's like, I know the Mexican restaurant. I got a question.
Starting point is 00:15:18 Yeah. Have we ever done a show in Richmond? Once. We did it at that bar. Remember they had a bar or something we did? I'm drawn a blank. What just happened, Rick? Why did all those people drop off the phone at the same time?
Starting point is 00:15:30 I don't know. I didn't do anything. Did you hang up on all those people? Nope. Still. Still. There were five people dropped off within two seconds. of each other.
Starting point is 00:15:37 They're driving to Madison Garden for lunch. Okay. 859-28027. Well, the one person that remained was J-Rock, so go ahead, Jayrock. Hey, what's up, y'all? It's been a while. I've been listening on a podcast, and I never got to congratulate you on your 20 years. Thank you very much.
Starting point is 00:15:55 There's two things that stood out the most in these 20 years to me. And the first time, I mean, y'all helping people get through stuff was back in January in 1986 when the Space Shuttle Challenger blew up, I didn't. didn't know where to go, but y'all were, y'all were there for. Well, we weren't on. That wasn't us. We weren't on back then. Well, all the other people were saying it was before 2000 when he was on. And then in 91, when we was going across the desert in Operation Desert Storm, y'all just, y'all just wheeled us through, man. I holler. Well, you're, you're very welcome for both of those. I wasn't, I don't, I don't, I don't think
Starting point is 00:16:30 that was us, but okay. We did have a few people on the 20-year anniversary day, so they've been listening for longer than it's existed. Yeah. But if they want to believe that. The show is only 15 years. The website is 20 years. The show's anniversary hits in November. Coming up, right?
Starting point is 00:16:45 Yeah, we'll talk about, I'm doing my list of what I think. I've been working on the 20 best shows of all time. Oh, that'll be a good list. And I've been trying to make sure I don't miss any. But I'm kind of going back through the archives, and this is just my list. Somebody will probably remind me of something. Yes. What do you think will be number one?
Starting point is 00:17:03 I've already picked my number one. What do you think my number one is? Oh. Well, my number one's not going to be your number one. What's your number? I still think our number one shows we did after the tornado and Sandy Hook or Cal Perry flew in. We had that, I got that fundraiser. Rose kind of helped set all that up.
Starting point is 00:17:20 Yeah, that's not going to be my number one, but it's going to be on the list. That one's going to be on the list for me. That's probably the show I'm the most proud of. Yeah, he flew in on a helicopter. Uh-huh. Yeah. That's the first one that came to mine. And we've done other fundraisers since, but that's the first time we really did something big with the platform to help out.
Starting point is 00:17:36 Yeah. So that one stands out. All right. Well, you'll have to see what my number one. Yeah. That's on the list, but that's not my number one. Shadyrays, if you need sunglasses, go to Shadyrays.com. They have the best glasses at the best price is the best return policy,
Starting point is 00:17:51 and it's a Kentucky company. Shadierrase.com, there's no reason to have sun in your eyes. Why pay a zillion dollars for sunglasses? You can look great for an affordable price. Go to ShadyRase. Use my promo code KSR. It is ShadyRase. We'll take a break.

Starting point is 00:19:07 of Mental Health Awareness Month, I'm bringing over a decade of my own experience in the mental health field and conversations with so many incredible guests. I'm talking. Tripp Fontaine, Ryan Clark. Sometimes when we're in the pursuit of the thing, we get so wrapped up in the chase that we don't realize that we
Starting point is 00:19:23 are in possession of the thing. And we're still chasing it. And we don't know when we've done enough. Because people scoreboard watch. Life becomes about wins and losses. Steve Burns, Ross because you find it important to be a good person while you hear on earth or are you a good person because you're afraid.
Starting point is 00:19:40 Because that's two different intentions, bro. Absolutely. And that's two different levels of trust. I want you to just really be a good person. Join me, Kear Gaines, as we have real conversations about healing, growth, fatherhood, pressure, and purpose on my new podcast, learn the hard way. Open your free IHeartRadio app. Search Learn the Hardway and listen now. What's up, guys?
Starting point is 00:20:02 This is Clever Taylor the Fourth. And on my podcast, The Clifford Show, I'm bringing you conversations about all kinds of stuff. Like being an internet famous referee. We're in the middle of a game. This linebacker, this linebacker walks up to me. He goes, hey, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her. What? Time out.
Starting point is 00:20:21 Quarterback on office blue 42. Hey, rec, my mama want you to wave at her. What? Hey, Miss Parker. Listen to the Clivert show on the IHeart Radio. app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast. Hey, I'm Deanna Maria Riva, actress, mother, lover, and a Gen X woman walking through life one hot flash and hormonal crying jag at a time.
Starting point is 00:20:48 You ladies know what I mean. I'll bet you a perimenopausal chin here you do. So let's talk about it. Join me on my new podcast. How hard can it be with Deanna Maria Riva, where I call on my Gen X squads from Ohio to Hollywood as we navigate Midlife's most fantastic BS. All of a sudden, I'd had hanginess happening on my own. I was like, what the hell is that?
Starting point is 00:21:09 I was married when I had her, so I didn't even consider how empty that nest was going to be. Mood swings, night sweats, fupas, sex drive. Wait, what sex? Dating at 45. How high can it be getting naked at 50 with the new guy? That one's kind of hard, you know? Well, that's lighting. They say we can't polish a turd, but we're sure going to try.
Starting point is 00:21:28 So let's get blunt with laughs, tears or tears of laughter, and dive into it unfiltered and unbothered and ask, how hard can it be? I cannot believe I'm about to say this out loud in public. Listen to How Hard Can It Be with Diana Maria Riva as part of My Cultura Podcast Network available on the IHart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Welcome back. It is Kentucky Sports Radio. 859-280-2287.
Starting point is 00:21:54 Got a lot of affirmations on Madison Garden now. It's really good. They're kind of famous. I still haven't seen anybody say the Mexican restaurant. I think you might. Oh, I did. I got someone said Casa before I even said it on here. Casa Fiesta?
Starting point is 00:22:06 Something like that. Casa something. Just Casa. Half of it's there. Okay. All right. So it has a house in it. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:22:16 House of Mexican food. Madison Garden is named because the owners are from New York. And it's named after Madison Square Garden, but they couldn't call it square. Aha. I didn't know that. See? Learn something every day on the show. All right.
Starting point is 00:22:32 We got folks on here. It's Ask Anything Tuesday. Let's go to Matt. Go ahead, Matt. Hey guys What's up Hey guys I've had a rough morning
Starting point is 00:22:45 And I appreciate you all I swear Your show cheers me up Even on those bad days You know Well I'm good What's your question Matt My question is
Starting point is 00:22:57 Where do you see Do you want your Let me see if I can word this right Do you want your KSR Matt Jones show to go to TV? I appreciate the call. I mean, I'd like it if they just had a camera, like when they show just radio shows on TV. I've done TV now twice. One, not so successfully. One, I think was pretty
Starting point is 00:23:27 successful. It's just like, it's just an everyday grind. And there's so much that goes into it. and you can't be as creative as I like. So if they put TV cameras on here and it was just like they just filmed us while we're doing this, I'd be good with it. But would I want to do a TV show again? Probably not in the short term. Maybe one day, but not right now. And if we do a live streaming show, does that take away from the radio listenership, kind of the novelty?
Starting point is 00:24:00 No, you just add them together. I mean, it's the same reason why we, talk about on, you know how Monday night football, they'll sometimes have two games together. Yeah. Well, the reason they do it is it splits the audience, but then they add the audience up together and it's more than the one game would have been. So yeah, I mean, it's kind of silly we don't stream this show live on YouTube. We should, but our company just hasn't done it yet.
Starting point is 00:24:24 But they will. I mean, that's going to happen one day. Yeah. It has to. That's just kind of how this. I'm kind of surprised it hasn't happened yet either. Yeah, we're still working on just getting the equipment that we have to work. We still are trying to make it to where on my cover zero podcast, the camera is not up my nose.
Starting point is 00:24:39 We looked like we were crying again on the new one. Again, it is unbelievable to me how close that camera is to my face. You guys are just very sad when you're talking about football games. And I don't, like, it's like there's nothing we could do it. Although I think we're trying to do something. They're supposed to be working on that this week. Oh, they are. Okay.
Starting point is 00:24:57 And by they, I'm looking at Mario standing right in front of me. He and Billy are supposed to. I haven't heard the podcast yet, but what were your story? take on the Steelers uniforms the other night. Hideous. Hideous. Why'd they do that? And they ruined a big moment. It's Aaron Rogers versus the Packers. I mean, I would like
Starting point is 00:25:14 for it to kind of look like Steelers are playing the Packers. Yeah. It looks, those uniforms look like when they don't have the rights to the uniforms on video games and they just put random colors and shapes on uniforms, that's what it look like. Do that at 1 o'clock against the team that doesn't matter. Not prime time
Starting point is 00:25:29 Rogers reunion. Hideously ugly. Joey, go ahead, Joey. Hey, Matt, I have a great restaurant for you in Richmond. It's right behind the Walgreens. It's a Mexican place called the Wayvos. Wayvos, like eggs or new avoces? New wavos. New wavos.
Starting point is 00:25:51 New wavos. New eggs. Okay. All right, what makes it so good? And they have the best margaritas in Richmond. All right, well, there you go. I mean, that should be a sign out front. Appreciate the call. Best margaritas in Richmond.
Starting point is 00:26:05 I'll have to check that one out. I don't know if it's better than Kasa or something, but it's in the conversation. I think they should have a sign. Best Margaritas in Richmond. How many people are up for grabs on that? They should do that. I mean, no one can.
Starting point is 00:26:19 Well, I mean, first of all, it's now been said on the radio. That's true. You could just say, as heard on KSR. That's right. And then you haven't. I didn't expect the, by the way,
Starting point is 00:26:29 I didn't expect the Richmond dining scene to come up this much today. That reminds me of still my favorite sign in Lexina. I think I've said it on the show, but Charlie says the famous fish sandwich. Like everybody's known about Charlie's in Lexington forever. Big Cahuna across the street has a huge sign that says second best fish sandwich in Lexington. Yep. And I love it. It makes me want to go there instead of Charlies just because they're...
Starting point is 00:26:49 How did they're acknowledging their neighbor. They're next-door neighbors. They're like, I'm not stepping on your territory. Ours is the second best. But they're proudly claiming the second best sandwich. Well, that's... David Letterman did that once. When Jay Leno beat David Letterman in the ratings,
Starting point is 00:27:02 uh, he put up a bill. that said we're number one and it was him it was him smiling and then Dave Letterman bought the billboard a few feet behind him and it said we're number two and he just held it up with a smile and I actually think that's what you do that's that's the way you handle it kip go ahead kip hey what's up mad it's actually tip but no big deal all right listen man i've got a couple of stats for you that I want to just throw out there and then I've got a question at the end that's the question of the day uh if you
Starting point is 00:27:36 compare Mark Stoop's first seven years to Rich Brooks' seven year tenure, you'll see that they're identicals as far as bowl games and games are pretty much identical. You take the following six years and what has
Starting point is 00:27:52 Stoops really done. We've not done much at all. Not even a division title. Yeah, that's not fair, though. That's not fair. You're right about Stoops' first seven years and Rich Brooks. They are crazy identical. But then you're leaving out, that after those seven years,
Starting point is 00:28:09 Stoops had two years of 10 wins. Rich Brooks never had that. One of them got, one of them got paid. Yeah, I'm not listening to that. Nobody cares about whether Chris Rodriguez went and signed in at the health office.
Starting point is 00:28:21 But that doesn't diminish, sir, that doesn't diminish his coaching that Chris Rodriguez didn't sign in at UK healthcare. We won the citrus bowl twice. I mean, I say this with respect, but that is so unfa,
Starting point is 00:28:36 to stoops. It is so unfair to stoop's to, I appreciate the call. It is so unfair to stoops to leave out his two best years. Yep. Okay. I mean, you should certainly throw in these bad years, but you cannot say, I'm going to ignore his two best years. He was the same as Rich Brooks and then he got bad. No, he was the same as Rich Brooks. Then he got better than Rich Brooks. Took a story. We've never been before. And now he's gotten worse. So make of that whatever you. You will. But you can't change the facts and then go, well, Chris Rodriguez didn't sign in at UK healthcare, so he's not a good coach. That's just not fair. We'll be right back. Welcome back. It is Kentucky Sports Radio.
Starting point is 00:29:18 859-2802287. Text machine is 772-774-5254. One person writes, Matt, what's one business idea you're passionate about? You always wanted to pursue, but you don't think will or would work out. Good question for you. Yeah, that's a good question. Yeah, that's a really good question. I mean, I wish that I have worked on over the years a script for a TV series.
Starting point is 00:29:53 Yeah. And I've worked on it based on my book. Sort of I wanted it to be the story of like me, but more entertaining. So it would be like fictional version of what I did. like radio hosts decides to run for Senate thinks about run for Senate travels the state has a dude following him to dig up info but then becomes friends with the guy and then like all the people you meet around the state and all the weird things that happen make it like kind of a comedy yeah slash drama it's kind of a good idea no I think and I've had people interested
Starting point is 00:30:29 and there's a comedy writer I've worked with on it I think it's you know all those things are a long shot to happen. Yeah. What I need to do is like just take like a month and go somewhere and work on it. Because the problem is you just get busy and it gets put in the back burner. So I would love to do something like that. I'd love to have some sort of creative project like that that I could, that I could work on. But it's, I think it would work.
Starting point is 00:30:52 I think we could do something good, but I think the chances of it happening are a long shot. Yeah. But I've like taken meetings on it that they say, you know. That's a great idea. I was trying to think where you were going to go with that. I thought maybe you might say, have one on a minor league baseball team. I would love to do something like that.
Starting point is 00:31:10 I did that kind of with OVW. But now that I've done it, I know, and I, you know, we still are minority owners, but I now know the kind of thing that could work. Yeah. So I would love to get involved in one. You know, I was very, very close. You all know this to being a part owner of a European soccer team. Yes.
Starting point is 00:31:29 Yeah. Like a lower division. And that was very close to happening. And I got, that would have been fun. They didn't end up working for a variety of reasons. But I can say you're doing that, though. That would be cool just to have it in a random country. So that was a neat opportunity that kind of fell through.
Starting point is 00:31:45 What about you? What would you want to do? I'm eventually going to open a food truck that's only open late night after bars and just go hang out downtown and make tacos for drunk people. You would want to do that when you're old? Yeah. What else am I going to do? You'd want to have a late night food truck.
Starting point is 00:32:02 Yeah, just hang out. What's up? How are you doing? Beef for chicken. I can actually see you do it. There's like a hot dog guy down there that's killing it right now and put them on notice. I'm going to park right next to you. Drew's Taco truck is coming.
Starting point is 00:32:12 Drew's Taco Truck. I bet you could make good tacos. What about you? I'm going to be the driver for Drew's Taco Shuck truck. You got to do something that's year. Like what would you want to do? Ryan Lemon gets to do anything he wants for a few years. What would you want to do?
Starting point is 00:32:27 Coach. Coach baseball or basketball? What do you mean coach? Coach kids or like be a major league coach? No, be like a youth basketball coach. do that now. Yeah, I don't have the time right now. If you're down the road, that's something I'd like to do. You know, do I do it for free. I feel like you have the time.
Starting point is 00:32:42 I'm a busy man. I got to take that afternoon nap every day. Yeah, I feel like you have the time now. Like, I feel like if that was something you really wanted to pull off, you could do. Well, they play in the evenings. You know, we got these post game, pregame shows now in the evenings. You do a post game show like three a year. If I can't get my food license for my truck, I really want to. It's more of just to do it and say I did it. I want to try stand-up comedy one time. Yeah. I'd love to see you do it.
Starting point is 00:33:08 I've been on amateur night many times. I've had friends do it. Like the amateur night, you go in knowing this isn't a professional. I just want to get up there and see how it would go. Done it twice. I killed it once. And I was like, this is what I'm going to do for my life. And then I bombed the second time.
Starting point is 00:33:25 And I was like, I ain't never doing that again. See, I'm weird. I think the bombing would be fun. Yeah. I don't know, man. I would have thought that. but then I did it and I saw people's, I did the exact same set.
Starting point is 00:33:37 And it bombed the second time? And it killed the first time and it bombed the second time. And I don't know why one or the other, but it was when I lived in D.C. I did it in D.C. Yeah. And the feeling when you tell a joke and everyone just sits there and looks at you is the,
Starting point is 00:33:57 I'm not kidding you. It's one of the worst feelings on earth. And I just was like, I can never feel that feeling again. See, I want to live in that. I want that awkwardness. Okay, well, then you should do it. I will say when we roasted you, I worked really hard on some jokes.
Starting point is 00:34:10 You did a good job. And when you work on a joke and deliver and get a pop, that's a high. I still chase. Like, one of them was a Bevin joke and there had been something topical that day that fit perfectly as a little bit of luck. But I remember that room erupting and I thought, that was pretty fun. I want to do that again. That roast was a lot of fun.
Starting point is 00:34:27 And it's kind of crazy to look back on that we did that. How many people were there? It was packed. And that was a case of some people killed it and some people bombed. And when you watch people bomb, it was so uncomfortable. But when you, like, but like when Mary Joe Perino killed it, it was cool. Yeah. Watching her just get up there and nail it.
Starting point is 00:34:49 I remember there was a table of Louisville donors right in front of me and I made a Louisville joke and I intentionally stared at them. And that felt so good. Like that was like a high. Making the joke about Denny Crum, Payne for vaudeville. like prostitutes back in the day for you of L and then looking at him and him giving him giving me the look of disdain I was like ooh but it was a lot of fun well you did the the fancy farm well I did the fancy farm fancy farm was one of my favorite days ever uh-huh because I did kill yep and I loved it that's some good good jokes and they had to sit there I had to look at all
Starting point is 00:35:28 you they had to sit there and wallow in it the politicians that That's one of my favorite days. And now they don't let them do it. That's what I heard. After me, they won't let them do that. Like they tell jokes, but you're not allowed to have people like me do it. That's what made Fancy Farm popular. Mitch allegedly told the people at Fancy Farm, if you ever have him back, I'll never come back.
Starting point is 00:35:48 Well, he's out now. Yeah, so now it's over. So why not? Let's go to Tom. Go ahead, Tom. It's been outdated, but the Texas game is really a, you know, a microcosm of House Toup's coach and the fact that statistically we ran all over them, but, you know, got beat and we got beat because a lot of things that should be done aren't.
Starting point is 00:36:16 We had fourth and one a couple of times and failed. Yes. And every coach at every level has plays that you should be able to run on fourth and one. If you have to win the game, you've got a play in your pocket. that you know is going to work. You've worked on it for months, saving it for that situation. We kicked a long field goal with 13 seconds, didn't even take a shot at it. Yeah, I was okay with that.
Starting point is 00:36:53 But your point, your point is valid, okay? Your point is valid, and it has been the point that I think a lot of people have had for a while. I appreciate the call. The Texas game was a microcosm, Drew, of all the mistakes, a lot of the things we saw. And if you look at the last two or three years, third and one and fourth and one has been just a backbreaker for stoops. It was a lot like the Georgia game last year. And if I'm not mistaken, the Georgia game last year, they got down to the one and didn't have points. I hate to call the guy out, but you went shopping in the portal to get a running back to punch it in from the one.
Starting point is 00:37:29 And in the Texas game, we all know how it ends. You don't punch it in from the one. And that goal line has just been an issue. When you don't have a Benny or a Chris Rodriguez, they just have been unable to punch it in, especially in the two years of Bush. And it, you know, that Georgia game last year, you might have had a chance to win if you did it.
Starting point is 00:37:46 Was it, what game was it like Will Levis's year? Didn't we have a year? Or the game at Ole Miss that time, remember we had a Dane's freshman year. Yeah. Should have won, couldn't get in from the one. Like the one has been a huge thing for us over the years. Well, like Drew said,
Starting point is 00:38:02 they went out and got Daudel, who was supposed to be that guy to get us that one yard, that two yard, when we need it. And it hadn't happened. That moment is why you wrote him a check, that Texas game. That's why he's on the team. Why he's there? You know what? What about Lexington Sporting League?
Starting point is 00:38:15 What about it? Lexington Sporting Club is in the Game Bridge Super League. Did you know that? Didn't know that. We are the only team that's undefeated. Nice. We have three wins and five draws. We lead the league with goals.
Starting point is 00:38:26 And our next match is against Sporting Jacks on Halloween. 6 p.m. They host Trick or Treat before the match. Drink or treat starts at 5 o'clock. Oh, now we're talking. It is the Halloween at the Lexington Sporty Club. All match tickets also get a voucher for one free beer at Jack Brown's Beer and Burger. Nice.
Starting point is 00:38:48 So join after the match. Purchase your tickets today. Visit Lex Sporting.com slash tickets. Or you can watch the game. It's going to be live on Fox 56. Is it really? Lexporting.com or watch the game live on Fox 56 on Halloween. Very cool.
Starting point is 00:39:04 All right. We'll take a break. Be right back. KSR. Last night, a blown call changed a game. This morning, the internet lost its mind. Highlights are trending. Opinions are flying.

Starting point is 00:40:11 I'm talking, Tripp Fontaine, Ryan Clark. Sometimes when we're in the pursuit of the thing, we get so wrapped up in the chase that we don't realize that we are in possession of the thing. And we're still chasing it. And we don't know when we've done enough. Because people scoreboard watch. Life becomes about wins and losses. Steve Burns, Dustin Ross,
Starting point is 00:40:33 because you find it important to be a good person while you hear on earth, or are you a good person because you're afraid? Because that's two different intentions, bro. Absolutely. And that's two different levels of trust. I want you to just really be a good person. Join me, Kear Gaines, as we have real conversations about healing,

Starting point is 00:41:05 like being an internet famous referee. We're in the middle of a game. This linebacker, this linebacker walks up to me. He goes, hey, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her. What? Come out. Quarterback on office blue of 42. Hey, rep, my mama want you to wave at her.
Starting point is 00:41:23 What? Hey, Miss Parker. Listen to the Cliffer Show on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. What's up, fam? It's Isaiah Thomas. And I'm C.J. Toledano, and our podcast, Point Game is about defying the odds. Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed. And finding ways to win no matter what.
Starting point is 00:41:49 He's the smartest player to ever play the game. His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before. And he knows. Without Luca and Austin Reeves, I got to manipulate the game. We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the game. the playoffs. I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series because when they don't have Rudy in the lineup, he has to really guard guys like Nas Reid.
Starting point is 00:42:10 He has to guard Julius Randall. And then he has to give us everything he gives us on the night-to-night basis on offense. And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson, we dive into some playoff history too. Steve Nash would get that thing. That man, hell get the flying. He running up the court licking his fingers why he got the bar. Like, you go through a training camp with that Isaiah, you figure. it out real quick.
Starting point is 00:42:32 Oh, yeah. Get your ass up and down the court, and you're going to get the ball. So listen to Point Game on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Techies Sports Radio, 859-2-80-2287. One person writes, Matt, you didn't let that guy finish. He was going to make the point that Rich Brooks left the program better than Mark Stoops will. I don't think that was the point he was going to make.
Starting point is 00:43:21 He said that they had the same record and then Stoops went downhill. Stoops has gone downhill, but I also don't think you can leave it. those two years where he was good. He is going to leave the program worse than than Rich Brooks did, and that's a fair critique. I mean, that's a, like, if you want to make that critique, that's a completely fair critique. There are also people who go, well,
Starting point is 00:43:44 Stoops did it when the SEC was a little easier. Maybe, that's probably true, but I would also argue that the SEC, the top of the SEC is weaker than it's ever been this year, meaning like Vandy can be at the top of the SEC. They are the top of the SEC. So, yes, we were fortunate in that Florida, Tennessee, Missouri, Vandy were not great. But also there were a group of teams that we simply would have had no chance of beating,
Starting point is 00:44:16 like Alabama and LSU and Georgia. I think this year, if you took the Benny Snell team, Ryan, and played this year in the SEC, you'd have a shot to make the playoff. That's why you can't take that away from Stoops. Yes, they're struggling right now, but you can't take away what he did here and what he's the records and the teams that he put together here. You have to judge people fairly. People did this at the end of Cal too.
Starting point is 00:44:40 They acted like he was never good. You can't do that. You have to acknowledge that he's good, but you then have to acknowledge what's the situation right now. And it's not good. No, not at all. And it's looking like it'll end about like Joker's last season did. but we all had quite a bit of fun going to age straight bowl games.
Starting point is 00:45:01 I can't act like that didn't happen. I mean, Mark Stoops, one more bowl games than Rich Brooks went to. I mean, let's be real. And I know there's bowl games aren't at the end of the world, but it was a pretty fun run when he had it going. Three years ago, the summer before the season three years ago, there was a legitimate debate in this fan base about the whole football basketball school conversation.
Starting point is 00:45:20 And people took sides. And I don't think it was good for the program, but you could legitimately have the conversation about, we at basketball school or are we both or you know like we you that's crazy to think about right now Texas A&M wanted to hire him you know he's highly respected what he did here that's amazing and now there ain't no yes and they ended up probably doing the right thing in hindsight true go ahead true hey man I want to congratulate you for 20 years for you have many people last man and you have put a great staff together and I like y'all true.
Starting point is 00:46:00 You're not fake. Y'all have been a blessing to me and I hope 20 more years. But let's get down to the get down. Matt Jones, I want to ask you a question. Yes. And I want to care of our people and I want to hold you response. You know, you said I can ask you a question. All right.
Starting point is 00:46:19 Well, you got to ask you. Are you still going to hold up to me what you said to me six months ago? remind me what I said. You said if Kentucky and Indiana play, you would bring me and give me two tickets and me and Miss Truth can come and meet you at KSR. Are you going to keep your word? Wait me, hang on.
Starting point is 00:46:43 Did I say that? I know I would have said that I'd love to meet you and your wife. And I probably would have said that I would try to get you tickets. but I don't know that I would have said I would definitely get you tickets. Matt, I wrote that down on my bucket list. I got a list, Matt. All right, well, there's a different, okay, that truth, I would love for you to get to see Kentucky and Indiana playing,
Starting point is 00:47:14 and I would love to get to see you. But I also know what you're telling me I said something I didn't say. So are you sure I said that? Here, I'm going to tell you what, man. Do you have the day, let me put it like this, do you have the day that I said, you said it down? Do you have the day that you think I said it? No, I don't have the down vote. It went, it went with Kentucky and Indiana signed a contract, I called in because I didn't know.
Starting point is 00:47:46 You the one told me. I didn't know about it. And I started talking. Let me do some research. Let me do some research. But let me do some research. Hang on. Hang on. Let me do some research. If I said it, I will certainly do it. If I didn't say, I might still do it because I like you, but I need to go look at the research.
Starting point is 00:48:09 Okay, Matt, let me put this. I'm going to leave you with this. If you don't do it. But one thing I have said, I can say to you, Matt, Joe, I don't like Kentucky sports or I like cutting up with you. But one thing I loved about KSR when I came on this earth, I can meet Kentucky. fan and man it go past sports. I have built a relationship to this show, radios, acting stupid with you. We are changing people life, man. And that's what I like about you, man.
Starting point is 00:48:39 Well, that's very nice. You're idiot. You're idiot when it comes to knowing about Indiana. Okay, Eddie. Why would you throw that in? You almost had me getting you tickets. Like when you said that line, you were very close to me going, all right.
Starting point is 00:48:55 And then you have to call me an idiot. idiot at the end of it, truth. That wasn't the smartest thing. But you know, but you know, you know I'm not fake. We keep it. That's why they call me the truth. I keep it real like you keep it real. And you love people, Matt, Joe.
Starting point is 00:49:08 Like I said, if you still don't give me tickets to Indiana, Kentucky, you have gave me a platform. Well, let me, let me look at it. And truth, I'd like to be able to help you. So let me look at it and we'll talk a little later, okay? Okay. Go Indiana football team with a NASA chapter of Go Hoosiers. All right, there you go.
Starting point is 00:49:26 Do you think I said that? I don't remember that happening. I mean, I might have. That's the kind of thing I would say sometimes, but I don't know that I would have volunteered to give tickets to an Indiana fan in Rupp to a Kentucky game. See, I remembered it. He said he was coming to the game and you said you would treat him to KS. Barr or something like that.
Starting point is 00:49:49 Certainly, I'm sure I said that. Yeah. And I'll still do that. I don't know about the tickets. I don't know either. Did I say that? I don't remember you saying it, but also don't think truth to type that would just pull that out of thin air.
Starting point is 00:50:03 Well, his name's truth. Good point. Tusha. Matt Joan. If you can't trust the truth, who can you trust? Exactly. His name is not, I'm a lie. His name's a truth.
Starting point is 00:50:16 I believe him. Even name aside, I don't think he would make that up. If somebody can find proof, I'm willing to do it. He did call me an idiot, though, at the end. I feel like that wasn't the smartest thing to do. Kevin, go ahead, Kevin. Yeah, this is, you told me I could come watch you teach class too, and you never came through.
Starting point is 00:50:36 You always had an excuse. I'm kidding. I know how that goes. I switch my ask anything question. If you did have a screenplay that you wrote, if Ben Affleck is unavailable, who would play you? Oh, that's a great question. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:50:51 Dave Fleming. Okay, you know what? You don't have to do. I'm getting somebody. Well, they would need to be somebody that was about that age when I did it, right? Seen to be like late 30s, early 40s. I'd want them to be handsome just so I didn't, just for my own self-esteem, who are we thinking? But not too handsome because they've got to be like.
Starting point is 00:51:15 Josh Hopkins has got to be in it somehow. Josh is older than that, though. Yeah. Who'd you say? I said it's got to be believable. I mean, you don't want to, you can't roll out Michael B. Jordan there for, you know. I think it should be Michael B. It's got to be someone that looks a little bit like you.
Starting point is 00:51:30 Michael B. Jordan would be perfect. The dude that plays young Sheldon. There you go. That's a good one. Yeah, I don't need this from you. All right, I got to go meet this boss here. Good luck. That's the end of the show.
Starting point is 00:51:43 That flew by. It did fly by. That's what happens when we're here in Louisville. We will tomorrow be at the bar, Thursday at the bar as well. Friday at Whiskey Thief. Yeah. They have some cool glasses. They're going to be giving away whiskey thief glasses.
Starting point is 00:51:56 That's a really great show. They also get you liquored up during the show, too, if you want. That's exactly right. So we will see you later. This has been Kentucky Sports Radio. Another podcast from some SNL, late-night comedy guy, not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smigel and Friends.
