Hour number two, Kentucky Sports Radio, 859-2802287. Text machine 772-75254. One of the things I've learned here is how many people think played for Georgetown. 15 people have written Mark Jackson played for Georgetown. He did not play for Georgetown.
Starting point is 00:03:30 He played for St. John's. That's a fact. Don't have to look that one up. Yeah, that one's not right. Reggie Lewis played for Northeastern. So was Reggie Williams? Reggie Williams played for Georgetown. Sleepy Floyd played for Georgetown.
Starting point is 00:03:46 Jordan Berks played for Georgetown. Former Cat. There's a kid from Lexington that went up and played at Georgetown. Mac McClung played at Georgetown. The Dunkstown, the dunk champion. Who's from Lexington? V. Sanford. Went to Georgetown for a year, then he transferred to Dayton.
Starting point is 00:04:02 I remember V. Sanford. Where did he go to high school? Lexington Catholic. V. Sanford. There's a name from the past. Well, good for V. Sanford. All right, let's go to a couple things here before we go to the phones. First of all, truth, we looked it up.
Starting point is 00:04:14 He was completely lying about me saying I was going to give him tickets. He called on my birthday, completely made it up. I didn't even tell him to come to the bar. I didn't say anything to it. I didn't say, I didn't even, we didn't even talk about the basketball game. I just asked him how he was doing, telling him his health was good. And somehow he transformed that into, I was bringing him to the Indiana game and giving him tickets. Give him tickets, buying him dinner, probably had to drive him over here.
Starting point is 00:04:40 Now, somebody did say he called while I was in South Africa. Did you promise him tickets? Oh, I know I didn't promise him tickets because I don't have tickets. Could it have been you? Oh, no. No. All right. Shout out to Chet Lemon and found that phone call.
Starting point is 00:04:54 We have proof. Shout out to him. Yeah. I don't think right would have promised tickets, though. Yeah. Now, I feel bad. I stood up for truth yesterday. He said he wouldn't make that up,
Starting point is 00:05:03 and now I feel like I've been pulled into it. I think that was the sort of definitive type of truth call. First of all, doesn't tell the truth. So start with that. Just completely goes against his name, says I offered him tickets, then ask for something free, but calls me an idiot while he's asking for me to do something for him free.
Starting point is 00:05:23 Like, that just, That's such a classic him. That's why we love him. Hope he calls back more often. But people were suggesting to me for the top 20 shows suggestions. And there were some that I had forgotten about. You know, I kind of had probably 15 of my 20, but there were probably 10 suggested yesterday that now I'm going to have to adjust my list a little bit.
Starting point is 00:05:46 You know, somebody I'd forgotten for some reason slipped my mind the dead giveaway show, Eric C. Kahn. Classic. I mean, that's going to be. on the list. Me getting frustrated because they kept waiting and waiting and then he missed the show and me towards the end spontaneously. You could not quit listening to that show. You two guys over there. You couldn't quit listening because you felt it building. I have a picture on my phone. Me and Matt with the biggest smile was wearing Eric Ccon t-shirts. I'm just going to keep that away from the internet. That was one of those pictures. You know, here's a funny story. When I hired the company to investigate myself, which is still the worst money I've ever spent.
Starting point is 00:06:24 to spend money for people to go, like, investigate you. Yeah. Why would anybody want to do that? But I did. And they gave me the thing. And it's so funny to have your life revisited in, this is what people could say about you for them. In a PDF?
Starting point is 00:06:42 Yeah, in a PDF. And one of the things was there's a picture of you in a criminal, Eric C. Con. And I was like, yes. There's a picture of me with a shirt of a criminal on. It's a two-hour radio show that goes with it, too. With his Abraham Lincoln statue there. But if you remember at that time, Charles Ramsey was the number one topic in the country.
Starting point is 00:07:05 And you got the first interview with him after all that happened. Like, that was the first time he spoke to the public. I know. It was crazy. It was crazy. It did. That song, everything about that was. And the Obama girl, she was there.
Starting point is 00:07:22 The girl that dances. That's right. Like, she was, what a bizarre. Eric C. Con is a bizarre, like, part of Eastern Kentucky lore, isn't it? Yeah, and that day especially, you just keep naming characters that were there. So, yeah, that one's got to be on the list. But we didn't have a coup. That has to be on the list.
Starting point is 00:07:44 So before you go on, a lot of people have told me I have to come forward and make sure that you include the Ambien episode. I'm going to put it on there It has to be in there You were just You sang with Kentucky Joe You were challenged people to foot races That has to be in there Well, yes
Starting point is 00:08:03 Just making sure There was somebody sitting at that table right there And I looked directly at them and said I could beat you in a race Bring it on Oh, you did that to everybody Who was sitting here that day Not just one person
Starting point is 00:08:14 Everybody I can beat you I can beat you Did you think something was wrong with me? Yes, Drew and I both said it Like after the first segment second second we both like oh he's on one today we just thought you were high on life we didn't know you were high on ambient i thought it was one of those shows where like sometimes ryan's gone
Starting point is 00:08:30 like even when we were at memorial recently me and you get a little slap happy we do i thought it was one of those you were just in one of those moods i didn't know you actually had some some what's crazy about that show is i can't remember any of it i can't because i had i was so because what happened is not only so I take Ambien sometimes at night and I take blood pressure medicine during the day but the blood pressure medicine I take two of this pill but I got them confused so not only did I take Ambien I took two of which is like which would should have made me fall over asleep but then I immediately went on the radio and I don't remember any of it was Good radio.
Starting point is 00:09:17 I'll give you that. And I don't want to go listen to it because I'm kind of mortified about what I might have done. Well, just take our word for it. It's in the top 20. You can find out where you want to put it in the top 20, but it's in there. All right. I've also gotten more text messages about places to eat in Richmond than I ever thought I would after yesterday. A couple updates.
Starting point is 00:09:39 Casa, whatever. Wasn't that the place? Somebody means? That's closed now. Oh. So it can no longer be on the list. Nouveau, whatever, many confirmations about the margaritas, and Madison Gardens, almost stoop's level of unanimity in people liking it.
Starting point is 00:10:00 If you go to Eden Madison, I mean, in Richmond, Madison County, you need to go to Madison Garden. It is really, really good. Why don't you take us, Ron? I would like to experience this. I might go there by myself and have wings one day. I'll sit on the other side of the restaurant. All right, I'll tell you what. One of the days I will send you to Madison Garden.
Starting point is 00:10:14 All right. There you go. We won't say which one. people don't come to meet you. Love it. Because you have to eat by yourself, but I'll let you go there one day. I will be happy to do that. The UK volleyball team on Sunday has a top five matchup against Texas.
Starting point is 00:10:28 This is probably for the SEC championship. Kentucky has a chance to win their eighth straight or ninth straight SEC volleyball title. If they win Sunday, they will almost certainly get it. It's at Texas. The UK volleyball team is having a watch. party here at 1 o'clock on Sunday. We're going to have it on the big screen, so I hope everybody will come out and support the volleyball team. It'll be right here on Sunday at 1 o'clock. But for
Starting point is 00:10:57 UK volleyball, if they win, not only win the SEC, probably get a one seat in the NCAA tournament, which would allow them to host all the way up to the final four here at Memorial. Huge opportunity for the volleyball team on Sunday. And they're just growing in far as their fan club. I mean, the matches are sold out over there, Memorial Coliseum. People are getting into it. The last time we had a watch party here, we were packed, so I'm looking forward to it on Sunday. Texas is ranked second. Both teams are undefeated.
Starting point is 00:11:26 Kentucky hadn't really had much of a scare through the SEC so much. Just swept Alabama, I think, but this is the big test coming up. One of these teams is going to have to take an L and slide down. And then UK baseball, I mean, we're not away from baseball season, but when Tennessee's baseball coach left, Tony Vitello, Two of their high-ranked recruits have now flipped to Kentucky. One of them was from Lincoln County. Taylor County, I think.
Starting point is 00:11:52 Taylor County. Yeah. He's now flipped to Kentucky. They had another one do it last night. So the loss of the crazy baseball coach at Tennessee to the Giants probably paying dividends for Kentucky baseball. You know, that's one thing can give about Mingeone and the UK baseball staff. They have done a great job with a transfer portal and bringing in these new players every single year. These are recruits.
Starting point is 00:12:12 The recruits, they kind of, you know, a good mix of recruits, but the transfer portals were they've been just killing it. Yeah, and we know how he had that program rolling there for a while. I was pretty excited to see him leave, and now we're already getting some of the benefits before his season even comes up. Yeah, and then finally, for fans of the old cover, fade this podcast with me and Drew, you may remember we talked about a football game called the Battle of the Reveen. Okay, it's Henderson State,
Starting point is 00:12:42 versus Awah Wata Baptist, is that right? We have the hoodies, right? So we talked about it on Fade This. Then one of the schools sent us hoodies. I have a hoodie. Well, it's called the Battle of the Ravine because the two schools are right next to each other. The only thing that's between them is a ravine.
Starting point is 00:13:03 They're the two closest schools next to each other in America that play each other in football. Well, game day, Reese Davis says they are. are likely on November 15th to do game day from the Battle of the regime. It would be the first time they ever do a Division 2 game Henderson State against Awalachia Baptist. I love this. You're right.
Starting point is 00:13:28 They're across the street from each other, and I think it's the oldest robbery in football, and their all-time record is like two or three games apart. And they march when they play, you know, they do alternate home stadiums, even though they have stadiums. that are like across the street from each other, and the school that they're playing will march across the ravine to the other school. I love it.
Starting point is 00:13:52 To what for the game, the team will do it. So first of all, that has to be a cool atmosphere if they do game day there. And secondly, you would have heard it for the first time on Fade This. I'm glad you guys brought that up, kind of brought it to all of our attention.
Starting point is 00:14:05 Now I'm glad ESPN's going to be. Well, they haven't said for sure they're doing it. They said that's one of the finalists, but I hope so. I hope they do it because I like game day. It's gotten great ratings this year, so they're probably pretty happy with it. But I do miss. They used to, like, once a year, go to somewhere random. And it doesn't feel like they've done that in a long time.
Starting point is 00:14:21 This would be a cool thing to do. Yeah, I mean, they just went to Fandy. That was pretty random. But they've earned that one. This one came up because Billy was calling random people in Arkadelphia. Remember we just have random. Yeah. We just had Billy.
Starting point is 00:14:34 We'd do it random town, and then this is how we learned about it. It was in Arcadelphia. So just, I think, a cool possibility. I love that story. And I hope they do it. they do it uh who's up next isa up next isaiah go ahead isaiah hey matt uh i saw something
Starting point is 00:14:50 last night uh with us being so bad in the SEC the picture of our two guys jumping up in here and holding hands uh that did not that was a bad sign for the season to come i agree uh and then my second point is i saw a graphic uh on instagram and it said uh said who would you want to have on your team that's uh or on the Kentucky's team that is in the G-League now that would still be eligible like Ty-Tie Washington I believe was on there, Ashton Hagan. So who are those kind of people do you think would pay would be a better fit for us next year
Starting point is 00:15:27 going into next year's roster if we could get them? Yeah, so Kentucky has, I saw, we have something like 14 guys playing in the G league this year from Kentucky. It's a lot more than you would think. if you could pick one of those players to be on this team, I'd probably say is Kobe Braia. I was going to say Kobe Braya. I think my answer would probably be Kobe Brea
Starting point is 00:15:52 because I would like to have a dude who can just knock down three's left and right, wouldn't you? Yeah, he's a good answer. Just to be different, I wish we'd gotten more Jackson Robinson. I don't know if this team would really need him, but I would love for him to get another chance in Kentucky with how it ended, you know, what is season ended in February last year. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:16:11 So I would say him more of just to give him the opportunity. This team with Kobe Bray, though, can you imagine, like with these guards, we have penetrating through the lane and then kicking out what he could do? Wow. I mean, seriously, he would be, now, I don't know how he would fit in defensively with this group, but he would be someone that would be perfect for Kentucky this year. Yeah, he's the answer. I guess you could add in, we still don't know what low will look like, but if you
Starting point is 00:16:40 wanted a little safety, a Lamont Butler back with some defense. And now with Wade's out, we could maybe use Lamarie Williams as a back up in the front court. I think we got plenty of front court. That's why I'm worried we got too many front court guys. But, yeah, I think I would go Kobe Bray. 859-280, 2287. All right, draft Kings, you could go to draft Kings, bet five. You can get up to $200 in bonus bets.
Starting point is 00:17:03 Let's do the World Series tonight. It's game five, 2-2. Generally speaking, when it's 2-2, whoever wins game 5. wins the series. So you got game five tonight, Trey Yosavage for the Blue Jays, and Blake Snell for the Dodgers. I got a fun fact about Blake Snell. Okay. He pitched for the Bowling Green Kentucky Hot Rods when he first got into professional baseball. Is that right? How about that? He's a bowling green hot rod. Because he came up through Tampa Bay, I guess. Okay. Yeah. Yeah. So who you got? Man, the Blue Jays are hitting a machine right now. And they, you know, they got Sohey last night. So I'm going to
Starting point is 00:17:40 Blue Jays. I got Blue Jays to win the series, actually. Oh. You do? Yeah. You should have put money on that one. I did. I bet a whole $2 on that one. Okay, there you go. You bet two dollars on the Blue Jays to win the series? Okay. I can't bet against the Dodgers. I was surprised that they lost the last one. They went tonight. My fun fact about Blake Snell is that he wins tonight. I'm going to go, I'm going to go Dodgers. Did you see this story about how long it takes to get out of the parking lot at the Dodgers game? I saw the aerial helicopter view of them leaving the 18th inning, and I thought,
Starting point is 00:18:14 even I like staying late, I'm not like you leaving early. There's no way I could have been a part of that traffic. It says the average amount of time it takes to get out of the parking lot of a Dodgers game is an hour and a half. Do you know how crazy I would go in that scenario? You would get out of your car and you'd be directing traffic out there to try to get out of there. I can see you doing it. It would be the worst thing that I can imagine.
Starting point is 00:18:38 Awful. 8.5.9-280-22-87. We'll take a break. We'll be right back. KSA. Last night, a blown call changed the game. This morning, the internet lost its mind. Highlights are trending.
Starting point is 00:18:49 Opinions are flying. And nobody's telling you exactly what happened. That's where Sports Slice comes in. I'm Timbo. Every episode, we're cutting through the noise. Breaking down the plays, the controversies, and the stories behind the headlines. We go straight to the source, the athlete themselves.
Starting point is 00:19:03 Their locker room stories, their reactions, the stuff nobody gets to hear. The laughs, the drama. the triumphs, the moments that never make the highlight real. And we're still chasing it, and we don't know when we've done enough. Because people scoreboard watch. Life becomes about wins and losses. Starting point is 00:21:15 Hey, I'm Deanna Maria Riva, actress, mother, lover, and a Gen X woman walking through life one hot flash and hormonal crying jag at a time. You ladies know what I mean. I'll bet you a perimenopausal chin here you do. So let's talk about it. Join me on my new podcast. How hard can it be with Deanna Maria Riva, where I call on my GenX squads from Ohio to Hollywood as we navigate midlife's most fantastic BS. All of a sudden, I'd had hanginess. happening on my own.
Starting point is 00:21:41 I was like, what the hell is that? I was married when I had her, so I didn't even consider how empty that nest was going to be. Mood swings, night sweats, fupas, sex drive. Wait, what sex? Dating at 45. How can it be getting naked at 50 with the new guy? That one's kind of hard. Well, that's lighting.
Starting point is 00:22:00 They say we can't polish a turd, but we're sure going to try. So let's get blunt with laughs, tears, or tears of laughter, and dive into it, unfiltered and unbothered. and ask, how hard can it be? I cannot believe I'm about to say this out loud in public. Listen to How Hard Can It Be with Diana Maria Riva as part of my Cultura podcast network available on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:22:23 Welcome back. It is Kentucky Sports Radio. 859-280-2287. You know, we've been doing this so long. Like, we just had a riot moment. I walked in here. I really did. And I said, you see that one girl like there, she loves. looks like a girl that worked here when the bar opened.
Starting point is 00:22:42 And then Drew goes, that is the girl that worked here when the bar opened. Yeah, I already said hot to her. You know, you do this long enough and you start to go, wait a minute. Yeah, I realized I have a buddy who's like daughter is like about to graduate from college. That can't be real, right? I can't be that old, can I? Yep.
Starting point is 00:23:05 Yippers. Let's just act like that's not true. because that's depressing, isn't it? Just look at your Facebook and then remember, you're only 30. That's what they say, you're only as old as your Facebook. 859-280-2287. One person writes, Matt, you get one ticket to any game this year, home or away. Where are you going?
Starting point is 00:23:26 One ticket, home or away. So you also have to consider what the atmosphere will be like at the game. Which one are you going to? I would probably say the Rick. reunion in Atlanta. You're picking Rick. I went to the game in Atlanta a couple years ago. Rob Dillingham, North Carolina, that one. And Atlanta really
Starting point is 00:23:45 puts on a good crowd for a UK game. So I think it would be the same. As much as I love New York City, Michigan State just doesn't do it for me in the Champions Classic. So I put Rick with a slight edge over Gonzaga in Nashville. Ryan? I'm going to go with the Florida game at Rupp Arena. See, that's what I
Starting point is 00:24:01 was going to say. Florida game at Rupp Arena. It is the last game of the year. Decent chance that could for the SEC Championship. It's on a Sunday. So it's like the, I mean, it's Sunday. I think it's Sunday at 4 o'clock. It's going to be a wild atmosphere.
Starting point is 00:24:17 It'll be the senior day. I think that's going to be, that's probably the one I'm picking. Yeah, I can foresee it. The whole conference coming down to that game, so it'll be crazy. That would think about how awesome that would be. The whole conference comes down to Kentucky, Florida, on the last night.
Starting point is 00:24:32 And that's when Rupp Arena is its best, too. A big game, big situation like that. That's when Rupp Arena is rocking. I really think it does. a video of our preseason predictions, and I said March 7th, Kentucky versus Florida, we'll decide the SEC regular season. Yeah. And I looked it up.
Starting point is 00:24:45 It's been like 20-something years since Kentucky and Florida have met in that last game with something that actually matters on the line. I'll also say, I think an underrated one's going to be Kentucky Carolina on that Tuesday night. I mean, it's going to be 9 o'clock. It's late. But Carolina hasn't been in here in a long time. And just, you know, they're not great, but Caleb Wilson's going to be a top five. to seven pick in the NBA draft.
Starting point is 00:25:09 It's Carolina coming in here. I think that's going to be another really good one. I do, too. There is something about just seeing that ugly shade of blue, that pale shade of blue on the court with Kentucky that makes it special. Who's up next? John is up next. John, go ahead, John.
Starting point is 00:25:26 You mentioned how they're probably not going to start a spook during the season, but they might do like a press conference saying, like, hey, his time's up here and he's going to leave. Would they do that after? the Auburn game or after the Florida game. I think if they did it, it would be after the Florida game. That would be my guess. I mean, I have no reason to think that's definitely going to happen.
Starting point is 00:25:49 But to the extent, I think it would. I think they would announce it before the Florida game. I think the reason you do that is to try to salvage the experience in the atmosphere at the Tennessee Tech game, which is the next week. So I would say, I would be very surprised if it announced. Now, if we go down to Auburn and lose by 40, then that's, a whole different situation. But if it's competitive, then I think it would be the Florida game.
Starting point is 00:26:14 Okay. Appreciate it. The other thing was, like, I think, like, you probably still want to have, like, say, like, Summerall or someone else is calling plays or in charge for, like, the Tennessee Tech game or for, like, the rest. Well, Summerall's not going to be calling charge, calling plays. He's just got his own team. Oh, sorry, not Summer.
Starting point is 00:26:31 White, Bradway. Yeah. Well, but White's a defensive guy. I appreciate the call. I mean, I think, you know. I don't know. You don't really have an option if you were to let him go mid-year to finish. I mean, you're going to finish the season with Bush Hamden as a coach?
Starting point is 00:26:49 You're going to finish the season with Brad White as a coach? I mean, you know, what are you going to do? It would probably be Brad, just that he's been here the longest and kind of been holding it together anyway. I think if they're not competitive at Auburn here in a few days, the message from the fans will be sent against Florida. The Florida game makes sense because they would, would no longer be bowl eligible.
Starting point is 00:27:10 I think Mitch would wait until they're mathematically. No way. But they're still, yeah, exactly. They'd have to play the Florida game for them to be mathematically. I think that's a really good, that might be the best explanation. He's not going to say you're gone until they're mathematically. I agree. Yep.
Starting point is 00:27:28 I think he would hold on. If they lose Auburn, then lose Florida, then maybe something might happen then. Florida games at night. Are you happy about that? I was I would have been months ago Now I'm just kind of like Let's just get through this
Starting point is 00:27:42 It is going to be cold though Nighttime Florida's not used to that No I agree with all those things But like even winning that game You know I'll always appreciate it It went over Florida but I'm still just going to be like All right Just get me past Thanksgiving so I can watch basketball
Starting point is 00:27:58 Who's up next? Adam is up next Adam Go ahead Adam Hey guys to the color's point in the first hour who said, you know, if this leaves the sophomore class may transfer out, you also have to think that if you hire the right guy,
Starting point is 00:28:13 he's going to bring in his own players with him from that school. So it's kind of a new point. Well, remember, Signetti brought the James Madison team to Indiana and next year they're in the playoff. So. Exactly. My question is, besides the Kentucky Purdue game,
Starting point is 00:28:33 what exhibition has stuck out to you the most. This surprising or, you know, it's a global game, UNC, BYU. Yeah, it would be Arkansas. Arkansas's played really well in two different games. I mean, they beat Cincinnati by 25, and then they played Memphis and won again, and they've looked good in both games.
Starting point is 00:28:55 I think Cal's got a real team down there. So that's probably the thing that stuck out to me the most. Yeah, I haven't watched those games, but I did search names and read recaps, and it looks like his freshman guard, especially Malik Thomas, is going to be good. Yeah, Kyle's always in his best if he's got a great freshman guard.
Starting point is 00:29:13 Historically, that's always been winning his best, and it looks like he might have that this year, and so they may be pretty good. We'll take a break and be right back. It's Kentucky Sports Radio. Welcome back at the Kentucky Sports Radio. 859-280-2287, Antonio Reeves. How did we forget Antonio Reese?
Starting point is 00:29:33 He's in the G-League. That's my pick for who would be on the... You could be, I'm an Antonio Reeves, what, Antonio Reeves Stan. Like, I'm Antonio Reeves. You're president of the Antonio Reeves fan club in this town, for sure. Yeah, because I think he was great and he was underrated. And by his senior year, he could do everything. Uh-huh.
Starting point is 00:29:54 You know, his junior year, he was a good shooter, but by his senior year, he could score in every way possible. And I still think he, Cal played him despite, I don't think he particularly liked playing him. But he was just too good. He didn't have choice. So he's in the G League right now. He was on the roster most of the year last year, wasn't he? He was on the roster for the Pelicans, but I think he's on the Hornets G League now.
Starting point is 00:30:14 What about Oscar? He's on the G League, too. He's in the G League too. Yeah. We can make a pretty good starting five out of a G League guys. I mean, Oscar's great. I just think we have big guys. Yeah, I don't think we need Oscar.
Starting point is 00:30:25 Yeah. I love Oscar, but I enjoy the NBA. Oh, yeah. Oscar teams have to run through Oscar, which I wouldn't want this team to do, you know. One guy that's bouncing back and forth from the G League and the G League and the, the Hawks that's blowing up is Jacob Toppin has really had some big games with the Hawks. He might not even be in the G League anymore. They might have promoted him, but he's a name we don't mention that's really stepped up
Starting point is 00:30:48 since he's gotten, at least on the fringe of being a pro player. How about Tyrese Maxie, by the way? He joins, I think it was like Michael Jordan, Wilk Chamberlain, and Elgin Baylor for most points ever in your first four games of the season. Pretty good company to be with. That's pretty good if you're Tyrese Maxie. Can you believe how good he's got? He is just, he is a superstar to make.
Starting point is 00:31:09 We've seen Shay and the growth he's got where he's MVP. Maxy's going to be in that conversation maybe this year or next year also. Yeah, I mean, he's another one. We kind of forget when it comes to UK guys that play here. We kind of forget Tyrese Maxie, but he was, that Michigan State game in the garden was still, that was a fun, fun game that year. Yeah, and Philly fans love Tyrese Maxie. I mean, he's not just how good he is.
Starting point is 00:31:36 He's got a great personality. Remember we put out that video opening a can opener a few weeks ago? Like, he just seems like a down to earth. He still almost seems like a kid almost, but they love him there. We loved him here. Yeah. Congrats to Tyrese, how good he's been. Who's up next?
Starting point is 00:31:52 Wildcat Gary is now. Gary, go ahead, Gary. Hey, Matt. So we're all in lockstep with getting rid of stoops. but does anybody actually trust Mitch making the next hire? All right, fair question. Do you appreciate the call? Do you trust Mitch Barnhart to make the next hire, Reinhel?
Starting point is 00:32:15 I do. I mean, I know he had a misstep with Joker, but outside of that he hired, you know, Rich Brooks, he hired Mark Stoop. So far as our football program goes, he's two out of three, and at the time, Joker seemed like a great hire. So I guess to answer your question,
Starting point is 00:32:28 I trust Mitch Barnhart with his hire. No. I do not. Oh, you do not? I didn't expect that to be your answer. I agree with Ron. He's made some good ones, but the sport has completely changed, and he wasn't loving the change. And I think the top priority needs to be someone who loves NIL and the chaos.
Starting point is 00:32:46 And I don't know if that has been Mitch's mindset since it's happened. Yeah, that's an interesting view. I want somebody that's trying to be on the cutting edge. Okay. Somebody, they don't have to be young, but maybe a new coach with some fire that's really ready to jump in. Does do the people that he was looking at for the basketball coach, does that make you feel any better? The fact that he would have been willing to hire Danny Hurley?
Starting point is 00:33:11 Because, I mean, on a personal level, he would have hated Danny Hurley. Yeah. And he was still willing to put aside that personal, whatever it would be that he had for Danny Hurley, that he was willing to do that. Does that make you feel like he'd be willing to hire, you know, someone like that?
Starting point is 00:33:30 No. Mark Pope was a great hire. I'm not down playing that. I just worry about football as different circumstances. Well, to your point, that Mark Pope was a great hire, though, that also fits the kind of person. Yes, that's what I mean. Football, we need a little different. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:33:46 Yeah, that's interesting. I mean, I would say. And like Scott Drew was, he was all in on that. But Scott Drew is a very Mitch Barnhart kind of person, you know. It worked out with Pope. Love it. Great job, Mitch. With football, I still would worry.
Starting point is 00:33:59 Well, let's be like this. let's say he had a phone call tomorrow from Lane Kiffin that says, I would like to come coach at Kentucky. Do you think he would hire Lane Kiffin? Yes. You think he would? I'm not sure if he would. If you have an AD that turns down Wayne Kiffin right now,
Starting point is 00:34:14 they need to be at the unemployment office. So you think he would do that? If Lane Kiffin genuinely wanted to be at Kentucky, and you couldn't make that happen, get out of here. I don't care who you are. Okay. I think the fact that he had to go make Danny Hurley say no. I think he knew he had to go out to the best of the best.
Starting point is 00:34:30 So I think just the fact he did that Would leave me to do the same with Lane Kiffin If Lane Kiffin called, he would definitely I mean look, like, Lankif is not coming here I'm just sort of theoretically saying Would he, do you think he would make personality Keep him from getting somebody? If they're a Lane Kiffin type
Starting point is 00:34:47 That's not as proven as Lane Kiffin, I'm trying to think of an example I could see him not loving it Well, let's just use some names You think he would hire James Franklin I think he would talk to him He's a big enough name, I think he would have to Let me just ask you this would our fan base, if James Franklin got announced as the coach, would our fan base be excited?
Starting point is 00:35:09 I think a lot of them would. Some people just remember him running up the score from Vandy, the Citrus Bowl. It's more of a personality thing. Anywhere he goes, I mean, the people that work with him say he's a jerk, you'd have to get over that. But he has, outside of winning top 10 games, which was the problem at Penn State, he is a winner. So I mean, what do you win at Vandy? So you do think they'd be excited? Do you think people would be excited?
Starting point is 00:35:29 I think, you know, Mark Stutz was the fourth or fifth or sixth choice when they hired him, and the only thing I knew about Mark Stutz was his last name. But I talked myself into getting excited about him. I think I'd do the same thing about James Franklin. Would you get excited about Brian Kelly? Oh. You know, I watched that Saturday Down South thing, and I grew to where I did not like that man at all. That'd be tough to get excited about him.
Starting point is 00:35:52 I couldn't do Brian Kelly. I couldn't even fake it. I mean, he's won everywhere he's gone. I just couldn't do it. I don't know. That'd be it. I mean, I'd sit here and cheer for the team, but I would not like Ryan Kelly. Would you?
Starting point is 00:36:05 No. No, but I, I mean, if you were just talking about quality of coach, he's probably a much higher quality coach than almost anybody else we could get, probably. Yeah. But from a personality perspective, he is awful. I mean, my family, like I just, He'd come in here and try to do Kentucky accents and talk about our stuff. Where's Mahab Brown?
Starting point is 00:36:34 I just think they need to go get. They need to go get a young guy who this is, they want to take on the world. And this is the way they take on the world. That's what they need. And they need somebody who this is their passion and who they look at this fan base and say, let's go and let's take it to the new air. What I would say about Mitch hiring him is I'm okay with Mitch Mace, the higher, but what I would say to Mitch is if you're leaving in a year, he needs to look in the mirror.
Starting point is 00:37:04 If he's leaving in a year, then he needs to let whoever's replacing him have a role in this. Because I do not think it's the right thing to do to leave and then leave the next person to deal with whatever you did. I can see if this happens and he has to hire a new football coach, I see him staying on for a couple extra years just because of that. Like I can't leave this to the new guy. I've got to kind of see this through. But I also would say to Mitch, you've done a great job, but let's not act like you're the only person that can do anything. You know, sometimes Mitch, I think, does have the view of,
Starting point is 00:37:38 I'm going to stay here to make sure this. Well, we don't, other people can do things. You're not the only person on earth that can manage. You know what I mean? I understand. We also remember whoever the coach is, whatever you think of how they pick, Mitch is going to have to sit down with their agent and come up with an agreement.
Starting point is 00:37:56 Yeah, I definitely would like. Can we get some extra lawyers in the room for Mitch's negotiation this time? Let's get a couple people in there because I don't think he could do that on his own. Who's next? David is up next. David, go ahead, David. Hey, Matt, this is David, and I'm con just a few minutes away from the former home of Eric C. Con.
Starting point is 00:38:18 Well, good. Nice to have you, David. Okay, thank you. I just wanted to say, I think we're all happy that Jasper and all the great Kentucky boys that we have, Cutter, Trent, Jasper, Malachi. And we could have a fifth guy in there, Travis Perry. But, you know, he went to Ole Miss, and I'm not happy about that. But it seems like a lot of you guys on the radio constantly defending. What do you mean?
Starting point is 00:38:45 Defend who? Defend Travis? Well, yeah, Travis. I mean, I remember growing up when there's a guy named Todd Bay, and everybody roasted him for being a traitor when he went to wait for us. That's a different time, though. It's a different time. I mean, Travis wasn't going to play this year.
Starting point is 00:39:03 If Travis Perry was on his team, he'd be the 13th man. So if he, yes. And while I think UK would have liked to have had him, he did the right thing. He may start for Ole Miss. He wasn't starting here, so I don't consider him a traitor at all. Travis did exactly what Travis should do for Travis. Okay, I can dig that. I just wish he would have went somewhere other than the SEC,
Starting point is 00:39:32 but I guess he's got a thing for Chris Beard. Well, I mean, he almost went to Ole Miss out of, I mean, again, think about his options. He lives in Lyon County, Oxford, Mississippi's not that far from Lyon County. People don't realize. There's a lot of Western Kentucky people that end up at Ole Miss. It's not far. It's not that far. And then Chris Beard tried to hire, or excuse me, tried to get him out of high school.
Starting point is 00:39:58 So I don't think that's, it made perfect sense to me. And Ole Miss, I appreciate the call. They're not a rival to us, really. I mean, we're in the same conference, but it's not like we have serious Ole Miss issues, do we? I don't. And I think most people probably want him to have a great season. Just don't shoot the lights out against us. You know, do what you want to against other teams.
Starting point is 00:40:19 Light up Mississippi State. Don't light up Kentucky. I have no animosity to Travis. I don't either. I would have done the same thing he did if I were in his shoes. Whose minutes is he taken on this current team? No one's. I mean, we were going to go get a better backup than him.
Starting point is 00:40:33 Yes. And they paid good money for him, and he doesn't have an NBA career. He has to get what he can right now in this wild world of college basketball. And there were a couple things that happened during the season with some folks around, Travis Perry, that I don't think made everybody at UK feel the best. So I think that was part of it as well. I don't think it was Travis. I don't think he was well served by a couple of the people around him, and that stuff matters, too, in today's world. So I think it was the right decision. Commonwealth causes their bourbon raffle is tomorrow, Ryan.
Starting point is 00:41:04 It's a big raffle. They want me to do this Halloween read, sir. Let me tell you what it says. The bourbon raffle is downright irresistible. Is it also spooktacular? No, let me do the... Okay, got you. Irresistible. This month's prize cauldron is bubbling over with $20,000 in bourbon featuring the legendary
Starting point is 00:41:29 Pappy Van Winkle vertical. Other hauntingly good prizes include the Weller Vertical, the Blanton's eight bottle letter set, Club Blue, three bottle set, and more. Big Bourbon, big prizes. Commonwealth Causes.org. Tickets are disappearing
Starting point is 00:41:47 faster than a ghost at dawn. Commonwealth Causes.org for the raffle tomorrow night. Did a good job with that one. Let me ask you a question. Should we dress up for the remote Friday at Whiskey Thief? You know, it is Halloween. We've never done that.
Starting point is 00:42:05 But, you think, I mean, we're doing a live show. It is Halloween. Should we dress up? Mario's saying, yes. I don't have a costume, but I'll try to throw something together. You don't have to twist my arm. I absolutely will dress up. You can't wear the same costume you wherever you.
Starting point is 00:42:22 You cannot come as a night. That's my go-to costume. I know, but you do it every year. So you have to do something else. If you're doing this, you have to be something else. Okay. Mine's up to how quickly Amazon can dress me. I don't have anything, but I will if I can get it.
Starting point is 00:42:36 Okay. So we're going to do a costume. Mario, you're going to do a costume? You can dress as Bronny? I think you are. So we're doing a costume. You let you let you. Shannon, no, we're doing a costume.
Starting point is 00:42:48 Okay. I'm contemplating, just so you know, being a whiskey thief. Oh, you're going to steal a whiskey. Very clever. Yeah. So I'm probably not going to do it, but that's what I'm contemplating. We'll take a break and be right back. This is KSR.

Starting point is 00:45:02 Like being an internet famous referee. We're in the middle of a game. This linebacker, this linebacker walks up to me. He goes, hey, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her. What? Time out. Look. Quarterback on office blue with 42. Hey, Wreck, my mama want you to weigh better.
Starting point is 00:45:20 What? Where's she at? Hey, Miss Parker. Listen to the Clifford show on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Will Ferrell's Big Money Players and IHeart Podcasts presents soccer moms. So I'm Leanne. Yeah. This is my best friend, Janet.
Starting point is 00:45:40 Hey. And we have been joined at the Hipsons High School. Absolutely. Now a redacted amount of years. later. We're still joined at the hip. Just a little bit bigger hips, wider. This is a podcast. We're recording it as we tailgate our youth soccer games in the back of my Honda Odyssey with all the snacks and drink. Sidebar. Why did you get hard seltzer instead of beer? They had a bogo. Well, then you got it. Do you want a white claw or something here? Just take it. What are y'all doing? Microphones? Are you making a
Starting point is 00:46:07 rap album? I would. I would buy it. Cuts through the defense like a hot knife through sponge cake. That sounds delicious. Oh, you're lucky. I'm not a drug addict. You're like I'm not an alcoholic. You are. I'm lucky. I'm not a killer. I love this team and I'm really trying to be a figure in their lives that they can rely on. Oh. Listen to soccer moms on the Iheart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Welcome back. It is Kentucky Sports Radio. If I'm not, 280, 27. You caught me singing during the break.
Starting point is 00:46:46 I've been... You were saying gloom, despair, and agony on me. Why are you singing that? Well, I was singing that, but I've been on a he-ha-kick. It showed up on my TikTok, and it's the one that's like, where, where are you tonight? Why did you leave me here all alone? So those, on TikTok it came up like, I've watched...
Starting point is 00:47:15 an hour's worth of them. Because you know, it always starts with the guys like, my wife and my dog, and like he does that. And then like some country singer turns around. Yeah. And then they spit in each other's face at the end of it. Which, again, this was entertainment when we, like when I was a kid. People just going, you were gone.
Starting point is 00:47:34 You all know, Shannon's not here. Shannon would appreciate it. He was singing with you. You were singing it? Okay, so that's nice. But I've been, that's been on my mind for days. And I made up a couple about Mark Stewart. Let's hear them.
Starting point is 00:47:47 Yeah. Well, okay. I have to, I'll take it. Let's take a call. Well, you get it ready, get in the mind frame? And so I can get in the mind frame to do my Mark Stoops, where or where are you tonight? So I'm not on Ambien tonight, I promise. Who's next?
Starting point is 00:48:03 Mike is up next. Mike, go ahead, Mike. Yeah, man, I've had to get in here today. I had a question I wanted to ask you, but you've answered you cannot. Do we think? I know it's a little off. Well, we lost. Sorry, you're breaking up.
Starting point is 00:48:21 I can't hear you. I'm sorry. Who's up next? Sarah is up next. Sarah, go ahead, Sarah. Hi, yes. I just wanted to let you all know. My family is actually of the Hayden-Burban family.
Starting point is 00:48:37 And Basil, you all were pronouncing it, Basel, it's actually Basil Hayden. It's Basil Hayden. It's basically clarified. It is, yes, the bourbon and the basketball player, both are. Basil Hayden. Thanks for the correction. That was me that said it wrong. I apologize.
Starting point is 00:48:54 Drew did. Drew got it wrong. Good bourbon. Now I'm glad I don't know how to say it. I definitely heard it both ways. Thank you. Yeah. I remember when he was still alive,
Starting point is 00:49:01 they introduced him one time at Ruppering like in the late 90s. He was still alive and they let everybody know he was the first all-American in UK basketball history. See, I didn't know that. Basil Hayden, the first all-American in UK history. And they named this bourbon after him. Huh. Well, that's cool.
Starting point is 00:49:15 All right. Well, thank you. I appreciate it, Sarah. Yeah, it's no problem. All right, so I'd like to do this song that I wrote. Please do. But I don't know if I can get the... Yeah, you can't.
Starting point is 00:49:27 Last night I saw stoops hanging at rubies. He looked so sad and started to dash. I hollered and said, don't worry, old Marky. Thanks to Mitch Barnhart, you still have the cash. Where, oh, where are you tonight? Why didn't you leave me here all alone? I can't do it anymore. I'm sorry.
Starting point is 00:49:53 I'm sorry. I can't do it anymore. I want to do the blurpy in your face, though. I actually wrote that from my friend Duncan. We were doing, we were riding back and forth. Some of them I can't read, but that was the one I was able to do. It sounded like a busy night at the Jones house last night. It was up next.
Starting point is 00:50:12 This is what you have to look forward to next week. Who's up next? You're like it? That's the first time I made you laugh, Rick. I think of the whole time of you producing the show is right there. Go ahead. David is a... David.
Starting point is 00:50:28 Go ahead, David. Yes, two quick questions. With stoops, do you think the public understanding that he was wanting to leave Kentucky has affected his game this year at all? No, I actually don't. I actually don't. I think they've actually prepared. surprisingly well considering all that's been going on.
Starting point is 00:50:53 Okay. And then a second one is our injured point guard. Any idea what time this year he might come back? He'll be back, I think, before the Louisville game. Do you expect him to be back for the season opener, Drew? Jalen Lowe. They might rest him one more because there's two before Louisville. I would say certainly by the second game.
Starting point is 00:51:11 First one we'll see. Popul update us here in about two hours. We'll see him in two hours. That could be your question. There you go, Ryan. Lead off. I didn't get any questions to ask. Is pain stiffness or a numbing sensation preventing you from enjoying watching your favorite teams?
Starting point is 00:51:23 We'll go to court physical therapy. Kentucky's go-to physical therapy group to help athletes, fans, and average joes get rid of aches and pains and get back to what they love. If you've met your insurance deductibles, you might not even owe anything to receive care through the end of the year. Visit court.com. That's k-o-r-r-t.com. I cannot believe I sang that. You nailed it. Because I did write it, and I was proud of myself when I did it. This was not, no ambient involved. It includes it says Marky, because that's what they do on the show. They always would put people's name and add a Y to it.
Starting point is 00:51:54 You know my favorite part of the song? What? Looking up seeing Mario getting video of it. That was my favorite part. We're not putting that one out. That was my favorite part. There's no video there. You can do that.
Starting point is 00:52:03 No, that's not a video. That's not a video song. All right, that's a, you had to be here. We will see you tomorrow here at Kaspar. This has been Kentucky Sports Radio. Another podcast from some SNL late-night comedy guy, not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and Friends. Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier.
Starting point is 00:52:27 This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer, Streeter Seidel, help an a cappella band with their between songs banter. Where does your group perform?
