Now here's Matt Jones.
Welcome everyone, Kentucky Sports Radio Monday, November the 3rd.
I'm Matt Jones on a beautiful day, a little chilly, on a Monday morning.
This is a huge sports just day.
so much to talk about.
As a matter of fact,
we've closed the Clark's Pump and Shop phone line.
So I'll open it later on,
but we got too much to talk about to take phone calls.
A lot has happened.
A lot has happened and a lot to get into,
including some stories from the weekend.
A Vision Auto Glass Text Machine, however, is open.
772-744-5254.
In this edition, sponsored by the T.J. Smith Law Office,
if you call T.J. I'll make them pay.
Here are the kind of things we have to get to.
First of all, I went to the best
football game I've ever been to, ever, and I was there.
It'll be the best game in the NFL this year.
And Shannon, I was on the side lines, well, not on the sidelines, in the stands.
I'm glad you could be there to see the Bears actually win a game.
That was great.
First time I've ever seen the Bears win in person.
Is it really?
They were 0 and 7 when I've attended.
And they almost went 0 and 8, but they won.
The UK volleyball team won a huge game.
Yeah.
UK basketball starts tomorrow.
Middlesboro beat Sayre.
That's the lead story.
The World Series was maybe the best game seven ever.
So all of that's happening.
It's magnet day for the women's basketball team.
But we have to start probably with football.
And college basketball starts today.
Yes, it does.
Like there's a game going on right now.
You already started.
Queens versus Winthrop.
Great game right now with a minute to go.
Minute to go.
Queens and Winthrop started at 8 a.m. this morning.
75, 74 Winthrop.
Well, let's turn it on.
No, we're doing a show, and you can't pay attention without it on.
So we're not going to put it on.
But we have to start with the UK football, who got a SEC victory.
How about that?
It had been over a year, and they won on the planes as they beat Auburn 10 to 3
in a game that they will not sell as what we hope the sport will be forever.
As a matter of fact, it was a slug fest except one really good drive coming out of half.
time for Kentucky gets the win.
We've always talked about how Mark Stubbs makes great adjustments at half time, Drew.
Really?
I don't know we said that.
We have.
And they get a drive score.
And then that ends up being the difference in the game.
Hugh Freeze gets fired on Sunday.
Yep.
They found out he was fired.
They canceled his tea time at the Auburn golf course.
Did they really?
Yeah, he had a tea time.
And they went, your services will no longer be needed here.
And now Kentucky gets the win.
They are three and five.
and there is a sliver.
I grant you it's a sliver,
but Ryan, there's a sliver of hope
going forward as we get Florida on Saturday.
That's why I felt like that guy that called in
he made you mad, didn't you?
Yes, eat it, you know?
You're a fan of the team.
Root for them to win.
I hope they win out.
I don't think they will, but still as a fan,
I hope they do.
And if Mark Stoops does that,
he deserves to be our coach.
So you were very mad.
People didn't hear on the pregame show.
There was a guy that called and said he wanted us to lose.
Yeah.
And it really got in your crawl.
It's one of the most craw-getting things I've seen in a while.
I just can't believe there are people out there.
And when there were a lot of people online after that,
that like actively rooted for us to lose because they want Mark Stoops to be gone.
Okay, he may be gone, but you got to root for your team to win.
I just don't get that.
Let me give you something, by the way, to give you a deep breath.
All right.
You know, I have to go to ESPN this weekend or this week.
So I'm going to let you do your eating alone next week.
Okay.
You get one week off.
Because I want to be in town when you're doing it.
Be in town to watch me suffer.
I'm going to sit afar and not speak to you and just watch you.
Oh, wait about you.
Hey, Matt.
So we're going to have to do that next week because I'm not going to be here to be able to enforce it this week.
All right.
All right.
Yeah, I don't agree with the Drew you wanted us to lose.
I've had some people write me that were angry.
They're saying I'm trying to police people how to fan, which I don't try to do, but I am on this.
You have to.
I have a couple rules for fandom.
you got a root for your team to win.
Yeah, wanting them to lose is not a good look.
If you're a supporter of the team,
I have not felt like
the Stoops era has gone well like many people.
I feel like it is over.
But that game, I was so happy for them.
And I think Stoops in the post game
where he got a little emotional,
that kind of tells me what it's like behind the scenes too
because he kept talking about what the guys have gone through
and the pride he has in them.
So whatever you think of the future,
I feel like you've got to be happy to go win a road game at Auburn.
This is Kentucky football.
How can you not enjoy getting the win?
I mean, according to Justin Rowland, we've only won in the state of Alabama four times.
We've only beat Auburn or Alabama on the road four times in the history of the program.
You have to enjoy that it happened, right?
Absolutely.
And as the one person on this show that actually believed that they would win at Auburn,
I got to say, I was so happy for Mark Stoops.
And, you know, you could hear the crack in his voice.
And I don't know how you don't have a little bit of sympathy for Mark Stoops after hearing how much he loves Kentucky.
It's clear.
Crack in his vote.
I thought it was very nice.
And even if it's the last really good moment he has,
it was nice to get to see it.
Absolutely.
And it's a very Mark Stoops win.
No one thinks we're going to win.
He goes on the road,
wins,
11.5 point underdog,
which was a crazy number,
if you think about it,
gets the victory,
gets emotional.
It's 10 to 3.
Like, it's like football,
but we win.
So it's a very markstubes.
I'm glad they got to have that night.
And they give themselves a chance to set up yet another night at home where we could potentially,
how many night games we've been disappointed in the last three or four years at home.
But he gets another chance with Florida on Saturday.
There's nothing better in sports when you win on an opponent's home field.
And when you win and they're chanting fire, Hugh, freeze, you know, as they walk off the field.
And then that ride home is just, it's something that's long overdue for this football team.
Because Stoops is right.
You know, they've not give up.
They've not, you know, tanked it at all.
You clearly have not given up.
Not at all.
And that means a lot, I think, to the coaching staff.
But Stuf brought it up again.
We know we need to win one at home.
We know our fans deserve that.
So they're very much aware of this situation.
So I said going into the game, if they lose this game, I think the dies cast and it's over.
All right.
So they won.
Now, that doesn't mean that the dies cast and then he's back.
I think it just means we extend the process a little bit longer.
So we play Florida Saturday.
I think we all think they could win that game, right?
Yes.
Florida's a three and a half point favorite.
I've said it since March.
I think they are going to win the game.
I have not wavered since the spring.
I do not think Florida is very good.
We've always wanted Florida here in November.
Kentucky's coming off a win.
I think they do win, and it really gets B.B.
And it gets B.B. and confused of what to think.
All right.
So let's say they win.
All right.
Let's play through the mindset.
Then they'd be four and five.
Yeah.
Then they play a little team called 10.
Tennessee Tech. I know they're undefeated.
9 and 0 now. But I'm going to assume they
win that game. Obviously, if they lost that
game, different scenario. It's still an
FCS team. When we win that game, let's
say it's 5 and 5. Then where
are we with road games
to Vandy and Louisville
waiting? What is the same?
I mean, we could on Saturday night
have this scenario.
Where are we with Vandy and Louisville
if you beat Florida?
Which is very highly possible. And I think
if he wins one of those two, you
you definitely keep him.
If you're in the game...
If you win one of what two?
Vaneefe Louisville.
Okay, so in that scenario where you beat Florida,
and then you beat either Van der Leuville,
you think Mark Supes is the coach next year.
If you get blown out in both of them,
maybe it's a different conversation.
That's not what you said.
Yeah, I think they win one.
If we win one, we get it.
What if we lose them both?
If they're in the game and it's going down to the final possession,
I can see Mitch Barnhart wanting to stay with Mark.
What would Ryan Lemon want to do?
do. I'd probably stay with him.
If it's a close game, if they get blown out both games,
but maybe it's a different conversation.
All right. Drew Franklin.
I still think he needs to get to a bowl,
which is a big ask right now.
But I will admit, what I think and what
Mitch Barnhart thinks look very different.
You mentioned this on post game,
and it was all over Twitter. It was very telling the
embrace from Mitch Barnhart
on Saturday and the person standing behind
them, too.
So the worst scenario for
I'm going to give you the best scenario
and the worst.
Okay.
Best scenario for Contrador.
Kentucky football, in my opinion.
Beat Florida, beat Van der Leuville, go six and six.
Even if people aren't excited, you go to a bowl game, you end that little not having
gone to bowl game streaks.
And then at the end of the season, Mitch Barnhart will bring him back if he wants to
come back.
I'm not 100% sure, by the way, that there's still not a world in which Mark might want
a different thing.
but let's six and six I think I can't see a word they are not going to fire a coach and pay 37 million dollars that goes to a bowl game they're just not won't do it and I don't think they should everyone before the year asked him to get to a bowl game if he gets to a bowl game we can't just but I also want people to understand it is not going to happen all right so then let's go to another I won't say positive scenario but a more like we know what's going to happen scenario they lose to Florida Vandy and L
he won't be the coach next year.
The Auburn game would have been a nice moment, but he will not be the coach.
Does everybody agree with that?
Correct.
Back to back four and eight, not going to happen.
Here's the scenario that people at UK, and I've talked to people yesterday,
here's the scenario that's the nightmare scenario.
Beat Florida, lose to Vandy in Louisville, maybe lose one or two of them definitively,
And the fans want to change.
And then Mitch isn't sure there should be.
And he's stuck.
Yeah.
That's the scenario.
That's the one that gives people nightmares at UK.
And that's the one that I'm not going to say is most likely,
but is highly probable.
It's very likely.
It's not certain.
I don't think it's certain they're going to beat Florida.
They could easily lose that game.
But Drew, that's the one that that you just,
just would be bad.
Yeah, if I'm in administration and I don't want to get to that point,
I am uncomfortable right now of the likelihood.
It's not the most likely, but it's not some long shot either.
They could be heading straight for that direction.
Now, I do think it's important to talk about what happened on the game after.
Okay.
The idea of Mitch Barnhart and Mark Stoop's embracing after a win is not irregular.
Probably happens Ryan every game.
I'm sure it does.
Probably happens every game.
I think there's something about the fact, though, that the camera is on them,
it seemed particularly warm and emotional.
And I think it's also worth noting that, like, on camera, on ESPN, standing right behind them is the biggest donor to the school.
And also, there are pictures of them embrace it.
Like, this is a, that's the three in some ways.
I mean, there'll be other voices, too, but those are the main voices.
And, you know, whereas on the internet, there's like universal, I don't know that that's the case inside, which is why I think a lot of people wanted there to be a definitive resolution.
From the beginning of the season, anyone you talk to at UK was like, five and seven is the worst.
Yeah, we want to get to a bowl, but if you just come up barely short, that's still a big buyout.
Which is why Florida, you know, I want us to win.
Ryan, you have to want to win, right?
Absolutely.
So I'm going to talk about the embrace first.
Usually that happens every game, but it's usually back in the tunnel.
This was a highly visible vote of confidence.
Do you think he did that on purpose?
I think he did.
I think that was showing everybody.
This is my vote of confidence, and I'm giving our head coach Mark Stoops.
I think there was a little bit of on purpose there.
I mean, Mitch Barnhart is always a universally positive figure to his coaches.
But he was out on the field.
Mitch, he knows there's the camera.
That was a big, big bro hug.
It was a bro hug.
When Mitch ran right for the cameraman to hug Mark Stoops, I thought, yeah, this is intentional.
This is intentional.
I thought the part where he yelled at the cameraman to zoom in on me.
Get my good side right here.
A little bit to the right.
There you go.
I've got a dimple.
Now while we're talking about this too, we need to remember family's how they felt about
John Caliperi and they just lost to Oakland and Mitch decided to bring him back.
But Mitch hated Cal.
I don't know what he says.
I still decided to bring him back.
Mitch didn't like Calipari when we were winning.
Okay.
When we were losing, the only reason CalPerry wasn't gone was because, A, the buyout.
But B, there was a part of this fan base that was loud that liked him, including there were some donors that liked it.
Yeah.
All right.
I don't know what's happening right.
Here's what I think's happening in the donor world.
they love Mark.
They're not going to push for him to be gone,
but they're also not pushing for him to stay.
You know what I mean?
Yeah.
And I think that makes it.
Mark's done such a good.
The donors all loving.
That's why it would be hard to pay the buyout of somebody you really like?
They'll find a way if they have to.
But I just think, I think that game Saturday was huge.
And I also think this Saturday, this is Mississippi State, however many years ago.
Yeah.
You remember when they had to win that game?
game. This is now Mississippi State again. They need Austin McGinnis to line up for a kick.
Bringing back. So Saturday, I would argue Saturday in Lexington is going to be one of the more
tension, interesting-filled nights that there's, I'm going to go. And I don't go to a lot. I'm going to
go because I want to be there because I think there's going to be a lot of emotion and swings.
And I want to walk around and I'm going to sneak into the sweet section and look at it.
Because there's going to be a lot of emotion out there Saturday night.
What do you think the crowd is going to be like now?
I actually think it's going to be good, don't you?
It depends on the weather.
Yeah, I've seen some people online, and it's always hard to tell how many that is,
but they're like, all right, I'm back on.
I'll see you next week.
I mean, the Texas crowd was good.
Yeah, if they had gotten drilled at Auburn, I think we were going to get a message Saturday.
That's not going to be the case.
There'll be some people that have bought back in it, at least for a week.
It's going to be a big Saturday.
But it's because of the Saturday they just had getting the victory.
859-2-2-8-2-287.
We'll talk more about that.
a lot of the other things that happened,

Welcome back. Techie Sports Radio, 859, 2807. Text Machine 772-7-7-4-5-25-4. Let's look at some of these messages. Matt,
my nightmare scenarios. We go six and six. Stoops then leaves, and he takes the players and goes
and wins someone else. Yeah, that's not my nightmares. I actually think you want to know what my
absolutely perfect for everyone involved scenario would be.
If you were to say, all right, Matt,
secretly, what would you like to see happen?
Six and six,
bowl game, Mark takes another job,
and we all live liking him
and everybody being happy.
You're right, because they finish six and six.
That's a hell of a coaching job.
That's a hell of a turnaround.
That would be great.
Yep.
That would be great.
And then, like, he takes another job
and maybe we pay the difference.
well that's also my dream scenario but it includes walking off Louisville with Vince over there on the sideline
one last win in Louisville because he's done so well and then Jeff Rob goes to Penn State
yep and then we say thank you Mark it was a good run one last governor's job right
Robb goes to Penn State we all say goodbye does Vince then rejoin mark wherever his new job is
whatever we can wish everybody happiness at that point whatever they want to go do
everybody go and do it right I don't have the worry that if he leaves
he'll take everybody with him.
I'm sure Cutter Bowley loves Mark Stoops,
but if he could stay in Lexington
and the new coach has a little bit of offense to him,
I think that would be a little more appealing to Bowley,
but I don't know.
Maybe he would follow Stoops.
Yes.
One person writes, Larry Vought says
Kelly Craft went for loyalty and support.
Well, of course.
I mean, she's a fan of the team.
That's what she went.
I mean, like, it's fine.
I have no problem.
What those two have done for the program,
they should go wherever they want.
I'm fine with it.
I mean, like, they should go.
And it's really no secret that the crafts are big supporters of Mark Stoops.
They're not, you know, they consider him a friend.
One person writes, best scenario, Matt, we lose out and get a new coach.
Program needs a change.
Krogerfield has been dead.
I don't think that's true that it's been dead.
You must not have gone to the Texas game.
I mean, I don't think it's been dead at all.
I think Krogerfield has been alive.
I also think people who say, well, if we go six and six, Mark Stoops comes back, there won't be any excitement.
I don't agree with that.
first of all, if you go six and six, you'll have won four of your last five games coming down the stretch.
You will have knocked either Vandy or Louisville out of the playoff.
Isn't that a hell of a turnoff?
I want you to think about that, though.
I mean, you will have knocked Vandy or Louisville out of the playoffs.
They both still have a chance, and you could knock one of them out, including, think about knocking Louisville out of the playoff.
Because right now, they look like they could go.
Their only game left is against Clemson, and Clemson's three and five.
So, you know, they could lose.
I mean, if they make the ACC championship,
even if they lose, they might make the playoff.
For gamblers, they're like plus 280 to make the playoff,
which I mean, they can easily make the playoff.
So, but if they lose to us, they won't make the playoff.
So we get coaches fired and we knock teams out of the playoff.
And if he were to turn it around and they went four out of five,
including being Louisville, if you were upset,
you're just unreasonable at that point,
because you would have asked him to turn it around.
He would have turned it around, beat Louisville.
found some offense that you can get excited about.
At that point, you're just being a hater.
Now, I don't think that would happen.
Well, let me ask you this.
What if they went six and six?
Would you bring back Bush Hamden?
I thought the offense would take a big step this week.
Winning 10-3 is not a big.
But doesn't the logic that you just applied to Mark Stoops also apply to him?
Not if they're winning 10-3.
Well, they're not going to beat Louisville or Vandy 10-3.
They're going to score points.
Yeah.
If you win one of those games, if the offense are good.
If you win one of those games,
the offense is going to have to look good.
Honestly, I go to Cutter Bowley and ask him what he wants.
That's exactly what I was going to say.
Really?
I think Cutter has to be in that conversation.
Because we've seen Cutter, and I don't know if it's directed at Bush or teammates,
we've seen him get frustrated at the operation.
The TV, the camera zooms in on him.
He's yelling at people.
I don't know who he's mad at, but you want him to be the most comfortable.
Because he's going to have the keys to Carr.
All right, so it was interesting if you listen to my post-game show.
It was interesting looking, post-game show,
was universally posth.
Yes, it was.
Part of that may just be that you win a game,
the kind of person that's going to call
a postgame show at 1230 at night is going to be
paused. But then I went
online, I went on the KSR Plus
message board, and I looked at the
show thread for
the show, and people were
mad that people were posited. I don't
know who the people are that are up at
1245 at night, see us win,
and they're mad. We have a fire stoop's
thread after every game, and they put one up even after
the win. They're just people who
the people that root against the team
we think there's not many, there are quite a few online.
So the question then is we did the polls seem like
97, 98% were ready for a change.
What do you think that number is today?
What do you think that number is if they're 6 and 6?
I want to believe if they finish 6 and 6,
the number is going to be maybe the number
to firing drops to like 20%.
I don't know if it drops that low,
but I want to believe our fan base is loyal enough
and smart enough that they would flip.
Well, what is the show's percentage?
Go 6 and 6.
Does anyone believe go six and sick, you have to get rid of it?
You can't fire him if he makes a bowl.
That's all we asked of him with the schedule.
If he does it, you can't just change.
I agree.
So we're 5 and 0, can't fire it.
I noticed Mario hesitated.
It is.
It is fascinating to me.
I think the age discrepancy of the fan base's opinion is always fascinating.
And I'm not saying one is right and one is wrong.
With Calipari, younger fans were loyal to.
the end. In general, older fans were done. With stoops, older fans giving more grace,
younger fans are done. Mario and I were out Friday night for Halloween. I may talk about more
of this in the second hour, like filming people around Lexington, looking for the best costume.
We first went to like adult older bars with like people our age. And then we finished the night
downtown, which has a lot of college students and younger people.
The younger people were just randomly screaming fire stoops at me.
Now, again, it's before we won.
But that was all anybody said to me.
With the older people, it was like, how do you think the basketball team is going to be?
With the younger people, it was just screaming fire stoops.
And I just think that's an interesting dichotomy of how our fans' age brackets look at these issues differently.
Yeah, because the football success that Stoop's brought
It's pretty new to a lot of us
Those young kids, they've probably seen videos of LSU
And all those old games
But a lot of us are still wearing those scars
So I think there's more of appreciation for the 10-win seasons
And eight straight bowls than the younger kids have
But none of this matters if we lose to Florida
Would you agree if we lose to Florida
The Dyes cast?
Another home loss
Another home loss.
So that's why Saturday is such a huge thing
I mean, it is the program.
They survived the first one of them.
Now they have another one.
And when we come back, we'll talk a little bit more about the other sports around
and then get ready to take your calls.
KSR.
T.J. Smith, personal injury attorney.
Call T.J. He'll make them pay.
Now, more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage.
Here's Matt Jones.
Welcome back, Tucky Sports Radio.
Good questions coming on the text machine.
Let me give a couple of them.
One person writes, Matt, 772-75-25-4.
Is there any chance that Mark doesn't finish
the season now. I would say no. I think that win ensures. I think it was a small chance they would
have done an end-season replacement, but to the extent that would have happened, I think now that's
gone away. I think the only way that would happen if they would lose to Florida and then lose to
Tennessee Tech. That might be known. Maybe, maybe, but I think the worry was the attendance
and the side of the Tennessee Tech game, and now that's gone away. I think if you lose to Florida,
it's not going to be a good attendance anyway, but it won't be what could have happened if you had
lost both of them. Correct. I still don't think Mitch would have done it, but he would
have had to have considered it if you'd gotten smoked at Auburn and then at home against
Florida before that Tennessee Tech game. I think he finishes the season. One person writes, Matt,
I don't care if we go six and six or even seven and five. We need a change for new energy.
I don't even know that that's wrong, but at the same time, at some point, job performance matters.
And in a year where all these coaches are already seats are open and where you owe, this is
where the $37 million comes from. They are not going to fire a coach that goes to bowl games and
and pay him $37 million.
They're just not going to do that.
Whether you think they should or not, they're not.
It would be one of the most financially irresponsible decisions
to pay the fourth highest buyout in the history of coaching.
Just for the record, if we, Firemark Stoops,
we will be paying the fourth highest buyout in the history of college football.
They're not going to do that coming off a bowl game.
No.
They're just not.
Just the same, whatever you think of soups,
just a simple fact that he said, hey, had a bad year, and they called it a one-year blip.
I don't believe it was a one-year blip, but my opinion doesn't matter.
When he said, hey, I'm going to get us back to a bowl game.
We're like, all right, get us back to a bowl game.
If he does that, we can't nitpick how each of the six games were that got him there.
It's also worth noting, had we beaten Texas.
I mean, Shannon, what if we had beaten Texas?
I mean, it was right there.
Yeah, a whole different conversation.
Exactly.
A whole different conversation.
I don't know if it changes the record, but I wonder what if, and this is where I'm still a little upset with him,
like what if we just had bowling
some of these guys from the beginning?
Yeah, well, Zach,
will Zach Kausata,
Shannon be the most forgotten player?
I would say so.
I mean,
for a guy who we spent so much money on for NIL
to bring him in here,
then him not even end up being our starting quarterback.
Yeah,
they let Ole Miss with that offense.
That's one of the reasons, by the way,
I do want to say.
Here's what I'm not listening a lot to
is people who complain that not enough money
was put into the UK roster.
I don't think they put in as much
as a lot of UK,
SEC teams, but we also threw a lot of it away.
When you're giving a bunch of money and you give it,
there's at least three guys on the team making over a million dollars that are not even playing.
I don't think one guy's played a snap all year, maybe one snap.
At least three.
So like when you get that money and you use it wrong,
I'll listen to teams and people who they use the money they have efficiently and it's just not enough.
But we have used money inefficiently.
Is that fair?
It's fair.
And people are starting to ask,
whose call was that then?
Whose call was the way to distribute the money?
Well, Eddie Grand is the one deciding.
And I think that's why Vince left.
Now, I'm not saying Vince was right and his picks Eddie wrong.
I mean, I don't know.
But the rosters have been built by Eddie.
There have been some successes, some failures.
But let's say the number that's out there is true,
that they had like 20 million.
I mean, you got four and a half, five million,
not even playing.
Yeah, the guys that,
You invested in to help you aren't the ones doing it.
Yes.
That's your backups.
I mean, some of these freshmen like Cameron Miller, what could his in aisle be?
Like $50,000?
I mean, it can't be much.
On defense Saturday, new names making plays.
Not caught individuals, but you got a pretty expensive running back who has
179-yard run that's basically all he's done this year.
I would say to you the only person that is being paid that is making the, here's who I think
amongst the people that are among the highest paid in aisle people are earning
their money. Alex Affari and Cutter Bowling.
Yes. That's probably
the two. And the only
the new player, maybe Kendrick Law.
As far as a new player. Laws turned it on. He's turned it on. Some of that is they're
getting it to him more. Yeah. And then I mean like
Shiach Pete and a couple of those guys, I think I've done fine.
But you have some guys doing nothing.
I think the tight ends have earned whatever they're getting. I wonder if that
'll change over the years where they do deals where like you go game by
game. You get X amount of money per game.
Well, I mean, in theory you could do that. But the problem is
and why is I, it's the same argument we have with coaches.
Why is I a player, am I going to go to a school where I have to earn it
when I can get it guaranteed over here?
That's the problem.
Yeah, if you can get it guaranteed, then you wouldn't.
Why would you go?
All right, I need to talk for just a second about this Bears game.
I went too last.
The Bears.
I mean, I'd never seen them win.
That's crazy.
I didn't realize that.
Has to be one of the most exciting football games.
I mean, I'm sorry for Bengals fans.
I know there's a lot of Bingles fans listening.
I don't revels.
in your joy. Bingles are my second favorite team because the bar does well when the
bingles do well. So I, so this is not like I'm not bingles hater, but I am a Bears fan lifelong.
Went to the game, wildest thing I've ever seen. If I was a bingles fan, I would want to fire
Zach Taylor. I mean, the bears at one point brought on their backup quarterback as a wide
receiver and no one on the bingles noticed. And guess what? They threw it to him and then he threw
it down the field. And he looks like a backup quarterback. Yeah, he had like no one noticed that
Tyler Bajit was on the field.
But, you know, what's crazy about that game is not just that they came back from 41-27.
It's that the Bears had run back two interceptions for touchdowns that both were called back.
Both called back.
Took them off the board.
It had twice looked like not only had won the game, it was a route.
And then they both get called back.
One for a penalty.
And the one because they say he was down.
after the one where they said he was down, Ryan, everyone in the stadium left.
Half the stadium left.
Bengals fans when they came back, Shannon, were not in the building.
They were not.
It was full of Bears fans.
So when the Bengals scored to take the lead, the stadium was full of sad Bears fans.
I didn't realize that.
Oh, they all left.
When they ran the interception back, there was like a minute where it looked like the Bears were up 48, 27.
and everyone left.
Wow.
Bigos fans are usually pretty good too, pretty loyal.
Well, I would have left.
You're down 21 with two minutes to go.
But then they call it back.
There's still, though, what?
The bears still have the ball up 14.
Yeah.
So you think it's over.
Bingles fans leave.
I look at my friends and I go, well, I mean, it's not over.
I had already taken, though, the selfie.
So the selfie you see that I tweeted out.
Yeah.
was the second selfie.
I had already taken Shannon a victory selfie before that.
Almost jinxed yourself.
Took a victory lap a little too early.
I took a victory selfie at 41.
I took a scoreboard picture at 4127.
Oh no.
That could have been a jinx.
Then three and out, bingles go down, score quickly, on sidekick.
How does that do, let it go off his foot?
Yeah.
And then the moment they do that, I go, well, they're going to score here.
I mean, no one had stopped anybody all day.
True.
they score, then I take a sadness pick.
There's a picture out there of me shedding with my thumbs down and a sad face.
Because I was going to go Bears 0 and 8 when I'm in attendance.
And then we drive down.
I'm hoping to get in field goal range, but we have the worst kicker in the league.
So I was like, even if we get in field goal range, you don't know they're going to make it.
And then instead they score a touchdown, a miraculous touchdown.
We're like five guys hit the receiver.
and he scores, and I lost it.
Bears fans going crazy.
We talk about it extensively on NFL cover zero.
If you want to hear sheer joy, listen to this week's cover zero.
But it was awesome.
And then on the way out of the stadium, all the Bears fans high-fiving each other.
That's a good feeling.
The road, Shannon win, where the road fans unite and you're like hugging people you don't know.
That's got to be a cool moment for you.
and as somebody who loves to leave before the game's over,
I'm probably being stuck around to the end, you know?
Now, the reason I stayed to be fair was a hurt back.
You didn't want to get up.
I just knew that it was going to be like a lot of jocelyn,
and I'm getting better, and I didn't want to ruin the,
plus I was with three Bengals fans.
So I had said to the three Bengals fans,
Tall Hubby and Turkey under,
I'm like, I'm watching the end of this.
But then once the Bengals took the lead,
I couldn't be like, well, now we got to go.
Yeah.
I had to let them celebrate, and then it ended up flipping, and I got to celebrate.
Awesome game.
The NFL's had some wild finishes this year.
That was the biggest roller coaster we've been on.
I'm glad you were there, got to see your first win, but I also feel bad for Bengals fans.
Last week, you lose to the Jets on a halfback pass.
This week, you have all the mayhem here, but also all the trickery of the bears were doing with Caleb Williams catching passes,
Cole Komet through a touchdown, I think.
If you're Bingles fans, the last two weeks of football you've watched and the losses you've taken on your own field are excruciating.
Both at home.
So I loved it.
I would say, I was thinking about best sporting events I've been to.
It's not the best, I mean, the best sporting events I've ever been to,
Ryder Cup 2008, Kentucky games ranging from the national championship to, you know,
okay, so best regular season things I've ever been to.
the UK Carolina game in Vegas.
Absolutely.
We were the best.
We were all there.
That was awesome.
Best regular season game ever.
That was absolutely awesome.
We lost, but the atmosphere in Bloomington for that Indiana game in 2012 where Drew and I were there.
Even though we lost, objectively, that was an insane atmosphere, right?
I don't like to give them credit, but for just college basketball, that's about as good as you can see an atmosphere.
Football, Stevie got loose.
with Kentucky.
Yeah.
I left the LSU game in 2007, so I didn't get to feel that.
Trevin Wallace, the kick run back against Florida,
and I would also throw in Bud Dupree when we beat South Carolina running that interception back.
But yesterday's up there for me.
And in a road environment, I'm not sure.
You know, when we beat Ole Miss last year, that was awesome.
on the road, but there weren't a lot of us there.
But yesterday was pretty great.
Did you wear Bears stuff?
Yeah.
I wore a Bears hoodie and a Reds hat.
I don't let them know your local.
I want them to know.
I don't hate all of you.
You're like, hey, I'm here for Caleb Williams, but if Cincinnati breaks out, I'm singing out.
But if Ellie's out here, I like Caleb, Ellie's better.
Because I wondered, I heard your pre-game show, you're in a bar in a bar up there.
Yeah, people were very nice.
came up to me, a lot of KSR fans, but also just, like, there's no Bears bingles hate.
Like, everybody was, like, fine with each other.
Yeah, you're on their home turf.
Bingle fans are so drunk, shit.
Oh, I'm sure they are.
I mean, just so drunk.
I mean, they are so drunk everywhere.
And they opened that bar up.
I walked into Holy Grail 845 a.m.
And I was just greeted by people being like, hey.
They're still partying from the night before.
You're ready for some football?
Is that where you did the show before?
before we went off to the trip.
Because that place they were getting after the two during your show.
Holy Grail's a great place.
It's right across from the baseball stadium.
And it's like it's a good mix of people having fun but also being relatively calm.
So I liked it.
I liked that place.
That's why I asked.
I wondered if you had your Bears shirt on.
You're doing this show.
I went Bears Reds.
One of the few people in the stadium.
Probably the only one that had Bears Reds.
Is pain, stiffness or a numbing sensation preventing you from enjoying watching your favorite teams compete?

All right, let's do a little UK sports roundup.
Kobe Bray and Amari Williams scored their first NBA points this week here.
Yeah, how about that?
Well, I didn't think Amari would ever have a chance to play in the NBA.
He's on a bad team, so that helps.
That helps and get in.
And then Kobe Braith scores last night.
Nice.
And a win, actually.
I think they beat San Antonio and he got in there at the end.
Four points.
So that's cool for both those guys.
Yes, it is.
Yep.
Volleyball team.
Huge win.
Swept them, man.
First of all, KSbar full for the watch party.
Good.
UK volleyball.
Get on the train because this is coming all November and December.
right?
The, you know, the tournament all the way.
Now Kentucky's going to be ranked second in the country.
They win sweep on their floor, full floor at Texas, full house, sweep them.
Sold out at Texas, number two team in the country for the SEC title, and not only did you win, you swept them off the floor.
And kind of dominated them.
I mean, the second set, they almost blew it.
But first and third set, well, third set too, I guess.
Second set, they almost blew it.
Then third set, Texas got a big lead.
We came back.
They're just toying with them.
Just having a little fun.
Yeah.
I can't break it down because I don't know anything about it.
But we spiked the ball better than they.
We did.
Brooklyn Delay had a lot of kills.
That's what she always does.
Eva Hudson, another name.
Yeah, I've heard of Eva.
Was she on the show?
Either one.
No, Brooklyn was.
And Molly.
And Molly.
Doing great.
Yes.
A big fan all three up.
Obviously, big, big Cats fan.
I thought they'd win.
But the sweep really caught me off guard.
Congrats of Craig Skinner.
I mean, if they don't want,
I mean, they're, they can even lose a game and still win the conference.
They're what, they said their ninth in a row?
Yes, it'll be their ninth in a row and they would get to host up until the final four.
We'll pack Memorial Colise.
I'm sorry, historic Memorial Coliseum, we'll pack it.
I would think that's right.
But what a victory.
And how cool to have like a full KS bar watching it?
I mean, that's great for you.
I mean, the fact that UK volleyball is getting that.
kind of attention in this town during football and basketball.
They're both going on.
That's a really cool thing.
On a Sunday at 1 when NFL is pretty popular around that time, you're still got people
dialed into the game and filling a sports bar for it.
It's awesome.
So congrats to Craig Skinner, best coach on campus.
Skinner Fever.
Catch it.
The women's basketball team, Shannon, starts tonight.
Yeah.
They play Moorhead State.
A couple things about that.
Starts at 630.
Be a great thing for you to go to tonight if you want it on Monday.
if you're going the game, you know, should be wonderful.
A couple things.
First of all, Moorhead State, coached by Darren Feldhouse's daughter.
Alan Feldhouse's daughter.
Alan Feldhouse's daughter.
Darren's niece.
Darren's knees.
Yeah, Ashton Feldhouse.
Ashton Feldhouse is the coach.
I think this is her first year, right?
It is.
She just got the job.
One of the youngest in the country.
Yes.
If you go to their Instagram page, she looks like she plays.
Like she looks the same age.
She's like 31 and she looks the same age as the player.
She does the workouts with them.
Probably can still compete pretty regularly.
Yeah.
So Kenny Brooks's team starts.
It is, first of all, vinyl night, vinyl record magnet giveaway.
What's a vinyl record magnet?
I guess.
Is that a magnet with the-
Yeah, Kenny had the records out part of his madness intro.
So you get a record?
Yeah, I guess they're.
So it's going to be like a shape like a record, but with their schedule on it?
But that's what I'm picturing.
Okay. So it's not an actual record. It's just a magnet shaped as a record.
I don't think it plays music. What's on it?
I don't know. We're getting too deep with questions for me. I'm just letting you know that there are records.
If you go, you'll get a vinyl record magnet.
I don't know if this is right, but I love your idea of putting the schedule on a vinyl record and then have a magnet on it.
You can put on your refrigerator. There's a schedule right there.
Yeah, I think I made up the schedule part. I don't know what's on it.
I mean, don't be telling. Well, maybe I said it was a schedule. I don't know this.
it's a schedule.
I don't have no idea what it is.
I like that we're just creating this thing.
We don't even know what they're giving away.
We're just making it up.
We're going to get there.
You got a good way.
It does say, though, vinyl record magnet giveaway.
I'm trying to find a picture.
On Thursday is Girl Scout Day.
So they're having days all year.
Which I think is kind of cool.
I don't know.
Are you all?
I like giveaways.
I do too.
The cookies for the Girl Scouts?
I mean, they would sell a ton of those.
Yeah, I like it.
Like, okay, so I'm looking.
Let me read you some of them they're doing this year.
So they're doing vinyl record magnet giveaway, which Shannon lied about what it was.
Girl Scout Day.
Rally towel giveaway.
That'll be a big one.
I got to have a rally towel.
Teacher Appreciation Day.
Okay.
Clear bag giveaway.
Oh, I got to have, though.
Yeah, those are good for concerts.
Because a lot of concerts, if you bring a bag, it's got to be clear.
So they're giving you a clear bag.
Ladies will very much appreciate that.
Dance Day.
Oh.
Got a dance to get in?
Does that mean we dance when we go?
You're the dancer.
You're the dancer of the group.
You should go.
I am a good dancer.
Poster giveaway.
Here we go.
Wildcat on the shelf giveaway.
Like the elf on the shelf?
You get like a little elf?
It's right.
Four Christmas.
Got to be the Christmas game.
Friday.
That would be nice.
Get a Wildcat on a junior goat club day.
Oh, I'm sorry.
Wildcat Club day.
That's different.
Goat.
Goat Club.
Goat Club.
It makes more sense.
Wildcat club, I understand.
It would be weird to have a goat.
Do we have a goat club in Lexington?
I held a goat at the Whiskey Thief Remote.
You know, there are people who they do goat yoga?
Yeah.
Oh, yeah.
It's popular.
Very popular.
Why?
They just climb on you and it helps you relax.
Why would you want that?
I don't know.
Why would you be relaxed if a goat is on you?
It's very popular.
But what makes a goat relaxing?
I don't know.
The goat I saw on Friday was not relaxing.
It was hard to keep up with, so I can't imagine trying to be yoga with him.
I'm not even trying to be funny.
What makes a goat relaxing?
I don't know, but it's not bad.
Please.
I really, like, I, sometimes I just hate it.
I just do.
I hate you.
That's a sheep.
And yeah, that's not even a goat.
Another podcast from some SNL late night comedy guy, not quite,
unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends, me and hilarious guests from Bob Oden
Kirk to David Letterman help make you funnier.
This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer, Streeter Seidel, help an

Where does your group perform?

Last night, a blown call changed a game.
This morning, the internet lost its mind, and nobody's telling you exactly what happened.
That's where SportsSlice comes in.
I'm Timbo.
In every episode, we're cutting through the noise,
breaking down the biggest moments in sports
and giving you the real story behind the headline.
And we're going straight to the source, the athletes themselves.
Their locker room stories, their reactions in the moment,
and the stuff nobody gets to hear.

Clifford Show, I'm bringing you conversations about all kinds of stuff.
Like being an internet famous referee.
We're in the middle of a game.
This linebacker walks up to me, he goes, hey, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her.
What?
Time out.
Quarterback on office blue 42.
Hey, ref, my mama want you to wave at her.

It's our favorite time of the year
on our podcast, Point Game, the playoffs.
We're digging into the biggest surprises of the season.
And I'm looking back on some of my greatest playoff moments.
If we didn't talk ever again, I was hungry.
You just understood.
That's how personal it got.
Wow.
Then after that game seven, Marquis' keep coming to you.
He's like, you know, I love you, dog.
You know, it's all love.
This was just playoffs.
This was just basketball.
