Starting point is 00:03:01 ready for what is, I think, a very positive day after a few days of hand-wringing around the UK fan base. You can give Shown on the Clark's Pump and Shop phone line. That is 859-280-2287. A-Vision Auto Glass text machine is 772-744-5254. And this is sponsored by the T.J. Smith Law Office, you call T.J.L. Make-M-M-Pay. The cats get, you know, not the prettiest win in the history of basketball. but a victory last night. Over Nichols, it was a terrible first half.
Starting point is 00:03:37 One of the worst offensive first halves, I can remember Kentucky playing in a long time, although defensively they played fairly well. But then in the second half, turned it up, scored nearly 50 points, win 77-51, and get what may very well end up being the signature play of the year in the Colin Chandler's second half dunk.
Starting point is 00:03:59 Ryan, Drew, I watched the first half live before I had to go to a get-together and was pretty bummed out by what I saw. Didn't get to see the second half until after late in the night. So I watched it on replay, much more pleased about the second half. So how do you rate the overall experience, Ryan, the first half that was kind of miserable, but a second half that actually was a lot of fun, how do you come out of it? Well, feel bad for you having to watch that first half before you go to an outing or something. That was ugly. I mean, 28 to 15, neither team could do anything.
Starting point is 00:04:38 But I think the second half, when you put Denzel Aberdeen at point guard, you see how things are supposed to be. You know, the whole offense looked a hundred times better when Colin's playing off the ball and Denzel's playing the point guard. That's when things really turned around. Yeah, it's clear that the team needs a point guard. It needs a person to run the offense. and then Colin Chandler needs to not be the point guard. And the second half we got, and he needs to get to a wing spot to be better. And it was nice, Drew, seeing that in practice in the second half last night.
Starting point is 00:05:12 Yeah, we've wondered who could play point guard behind low, wondered that all summer. And, you know, Colin Chandler was in the mix. I think last night we learned, don't think we know. Pope even said after the game, his natural spots of two, and that's where he needs to be in the first half, when he had the ball in his hands, that's when things were stagnant. They just weren't moving it around and getting the offense going like Pope's likes. But the moment where he slid over and he was more of a reactor than a decision maker, that's when the offense really got going and guys started making shots.
Starting point is 00:05:39 Yeah. So let's start with the first half. I mean, first of all, defensively, let's say something positive. 15 points. It's like the third fewest points ever in Rupp Arena in a half in the first half. I thought they played excellent defense. I mean, if you want to take some optimism from the game, even the first half, you could say, this is a defense that travels.
Starting point is 00:06:03 Now, you know, they struggle a little bit against Georgetown, but I still think in most games, that defense is going to be good. They got length. They're pretty good at sliding their feet. Defensively, they're going to lock down a lot of teams. Offensively, I'm not sure they could have looked worse than they did in the first half. No ball movement at all. and when they got open shots and they got a lot of them, Ryan,
Starting point is 00:06:27 they didn't make any of them. I mean, they were at one point, what, at halftime, one for 12? Is that what the one for 14 from three, I think? And Pope talked about it after the game about just too much dribbling. You know, guys were just not running out. The ball kind of died in their hand, just dribble, dribble, dribble, dribble, dribble, dribble, and it wouldn't work. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:06:45 But then you get to the second half, and the addition of Aberdeen is the difference. Absolutely. After the game, Mark Pope says Jalen Lowe is going to play. the next game. So now he's going to get his debut. And I think you're going to see a completely different offense. But you could just see how different it was. Guys got in the right spots.
Starting point is 00:07:03 Look like O'Way didn't have to press as much. And then Chandler hits four threes in the second half. As the founding member of the Colin Chandler fan club drew, I mean, membership was shaky. There was, I would say by halftime, you had people like asking if they could get their money back. there was a lot of negativity, and then in that second half, you got some redemption. I'll even say throughout the preseason at our meetings, I was buying too many donuts. I was taking a lot of food home.
Starting point is 00:07:35 We weren't filling all the chairs I'd put out our fan club meetings. People were down. At halftime, I even had a few people come up in Rupp Arena and pat me on the back saying, hang in there. And I kept saying, no, you hang in there. We're fine. We're right where we need to be. And then that second half, when he got in his natural position, which has been my point all along,
Starting point is 00:07:51 He's being asked to do things he's not going to be doing later in the season. So it's not great him as hard. When he got over to the two where he needs to be, he did not miss a shot, went three for three from the three point line, and then had the number one play on SportsCenter. So the Colin Chandler fan club's doing just fine. I will add, we're currently a little overwhelmed with new applications. So please be patient moving forward.
Starting point is 00:08:12 Could be three to five business days before I get you processed, but we're in business. Yeah. Well, I am going to, I'm going to say, that I am, I'm pretty optimistic about the team, especially after the second half. I needed to see, though, that half, Ryan, with the, with Aberdeen running the offense. I needed to see that. You know, I didn't get to see it till late, but I needed to see it because I was really concerned with, you know, you go back, Purdue said they didn't really scout.
Starting point is 00:08:44 I don't know how much that's true or not. But then all of a sudden, since that game, our offense had just been a disaster. really throughout three halves. And now it may just be as simple as having a person who knows how to run the point. You know, there's other things I think will get better. I do not think Trent Noah is going to shoot this poorly the whole game. I don't know about Cam Williams. You know, people have gotten on me for being concerned.
Starting point is 00:09:06 I'm still concerned about him and I think he's going to end up being the person left out when this whole roster is full if he's not careful. But I feel better about other guys. You know, I thought Diabate looks good all night. way better in the second half. You just got to have that point guard. And we saw the same thing last year. I don't know why we're surprised because last year when we lost our point guards,
Starting point is 00:09:30 Ryan, the exact same thing kind of happened. That's the value of a strong point guard, man. The ball movement is so much better. The execution is so much better. Then you get a little confidence. Then no shots start going down. Then things start feeling good again. I mean, that first half, Matt, they couldn't even catch the ball.
Starting point is 00:09:45 Was it all way one time? Couldn't even catch it went right out of bounds. I mean, they were just so out of sync the first half. It all came together when Denzel ended the game in the second half. Well, I was, now talk to me about the dunk. You're there, Drew. The dunk was the number one play on SportsCenter. The pictures that came from it of him snarling.
Starting point is 00:10:06 I didn't know Shannon Mormons were allowed to snarl like that. And I didn't know that Colin could jump like that. Well, I did. I'd seen him jump like that. Now, the cocking it back is a whole nother thing. Sheesh. That poor guy is never going to recover. Are Mormons allowed to snarl like that?
Starting point is 00:10:22 I always thought of that is not a Mormon thing. I thought they were through much kinder. That was a mean snarl. That was like a church of God snarl right there. That was a whole other thing. Yeah, and he said something to him too, and I even spent the morning trying to zoom in and read his lips. I couldn't get it, but I need to know what I need to know what Elder Chandler said
Starting point is 00:10:47 after he punched on that guy's head. I have to know. Yeah. No, he didn't. No, he didn't. Thoughts and prayers to you. Let me say something. I'll pray for you.
Starting point is 00:10:56 I'll pray for you. That would be a great thing to say. It is a good thing to say. The reactions, I need to rank the reactions of people on the court and on the sideline. First of all, Brandon Garrison, his mouth is awesome. The little, just the face he makes in the moment. You've got Cam Williams falls to the ground. Have you seen that in the background?
Starting point is 00:11:21 He just falls to the ground. He falls to the ground like he's shot. Then Jalen Lowe falls into the walk-ons. And even Mark Pope, you can't really see Mark Pope's reaction on camera, but Mark Pope says he wishes he had a picture of his face when he did it. Is this go down, Drew, is one of the great dunks in Kentucky history? I mean, we do this sometimes. We have the ones over the years.
Starting point is 00:11:49 Dirt Menefield, James Young in the NCAA tournament, Clint Azabuki, Willie Colley-Stein against Florida. You know, there's a handful. Is this one on the list now? It's definitely in the conversation. I don't like doing this ranking with Menefield involved because that is its own, that will never be top. Never.
Starting point is 00:12:07 That's its own category. Do you think, though, that's a camera angle thing, or do you think it really defied the laws of physics? He really seems to just jump again, right, when he gets to old guy's chin on his way up. But all the other dunks, all of them, in Rupp Arena at least. I think there's been some better outside of Rupp Arena. Anyone that's happened in Rupp Arena, Colin Chandler is squarely in the mix and could
Starting point is 00:12:30 even be two behind Menefield. Yeah, I'm trying to think of the Rupp Arena ones. Okay, so because you're right, Willys was out of the arena, James Jones was out of the arena. Willie had three. I think they're all on the road. His tournament win, there was Florida. He didn't get as many in Rupp.
Starting point is 00:12:45 John Wall has a great one against the guy at Georgia. Michael Kid Gilchrist killed a guy from Portland. He did. Killed him. You're exactly right. That one, that one's, and Darius Miller has one like that too. Ole Miss. Yes.
Starting point is 00:13:01 Michael Kid Gilchrist and Darius Miller have, and then I want to say, Ryan, doesn't Kalina have one like that somewhere in Rub? Oh, it was unbelievable. He was just a freshman, and he jumped up where his head was like even with the rim. I think that was the, It's Vandy, wasn't it? It was. It was. It was. I was there. Oway had a nasty one last year against A&M.
Starting point is 00:13:22 Chandler's is better, but we were having this same conversation last season with O'Way. Yeah. Well, Chandler's is pretty amazing. And I think part of it is the way he had struggled. I think that makes it a little bit more exciting. But just as important, Ryan, to me, than the dunk is the four threes, especially the three in the second half. In rhythm, like the thing that is, was driving me crazy about the Georgetown game and the first half of this game is they have got to make those open threes.
Starting point is 00:13:52 Mark Pope's offense is going to give them open threes. It did last year. But now with the way these guys can penetrate and kick, they're going to have a ton of open threes, and they cannot, I sound like Cal, they can't miss them all. They just cannot miss them all. There was one point where Williams, Noah, and Chandler were combined one for seven after going two for 15 in the last game. you just cannot miss them all.
Starting point is 00:14:15 We still went seven for 29 as a team, but we just have to do better than that. Yeah, I think if I remember, Chandler opened the game by missing his first couple threes, and they were wide open. Like, he had wide open looks and could knock him down to start the game. I don't know, he just, I think he was as a point guard, he was just pressing himself, just trying to do too much.
Starting point is 00:14:34 He was getting beat on defense. There was nothing he could do right that first half, but then just seemed to settle down when they moved him off the ball in the second half. Shannon, I don't know if other people got to watch the game. Did I hear you did get the YouTube thing shut down? No, that is not true. First of all, there were like two or three different links. So if one did go down for a few minutes, you just jump over to the other one.
Starting point is 00:14:57 But the numbers normally are like around 2 or 3,000. I looked last night. It was up to 25,000 people streaming it last month. So you did that. And you're saying they never took it down because I had messages that it got taken down. It depends on which one you were watching. Like I said, there were two or three different ones. So if one got shut down and you just go, well, that's it.
Starting point is 00:15:17 I guess I don't get to watch the second half. That's on you for not looking around for another link. Don't blame me for it. There was one guy who was doing his own little commentary while during the streaming. And it started buffering. And I guess people started messaging. It's KSR. And he's like, what's KSR?
Starting point is 00:15:31 Who is this KSR guy? Who was doing the commentating? I guess people. The guy who streams it. Yeah, the guy who does the streaming. Was he calling the game? He'd say, oh, great move. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:15:43 And he wasn't calling it. He would just like chime in with, like, comments. It's like you're watching a game with your buddy, you know? Now, did I hear somebody was trying to raise money while they were doing it? That was him. He was taking all these cash apps and Ben Mo's. I did. I sent him a little money.
Starting point is 00:15:58 Wait, you gave him money. Wait, wait a minute. Wait, you wouldn't give ESPN money. Wait, just a second. Hang on. I was about to make fun of people giving him money. You gave him money? Yeah, because when you donated money, he'd say, you know,
Starting point is 00:16:11 hey, thanks, Matt. Thanks for the donation. Wait a minute, you are on the radio. I wanted to hear you say my name. Hang on, Shannon, I got to take a break. I got to explore this. I got to explore this with Ryan. Ryan giving a YouTube streamer money for showing a game that he could have bought
Starting point is 00:16:29 is maybe the most Ryan thing I've ever heard. But he got the shout out from the YouTube guys. Yeah, no, no, no, hang on. I'm going to explore this with you when we get back. This is more interesting. me than the dunk is you giving, don't you, you don't even know this guy. He could
Starting point is 00:16:45 be a scammer. No, but he was doing us all favor by streaming the game. But you don't know what he's going to do with your information? Hey man, I like how most people get a VPN to hide their location when they watch these things and Ryan's like, I need a paper trail. I want people to know that I was pirating.
Starting point is 00:17:02 Admitting to pain for pirated material. I did, yeah. And so did a bunch of other people. We'll be right back. 10 years, Max. It's unbelievable. Last night, a blown call changed a game. This morning, the internet lost its mind.

From the WNBA standout, Kate Martin, and rising hockey star, Layla Edwards. If a boy can do it, I don't see why a girl can't. Like, I've never understood that. Like, it didn't make sense in my brain. It's hard to be in spaces that no one looks like you, but don't ever feel like you don't feel like.
Starting point is 00:20:35 Don't let that be the reason you don't do it. An Olympic champs Gabby Thomas and Katie Ladecki. The ability to show gold medal to someone and have their face light up and smile, that means the world to me. And that's what motivates me to win more gold medals. At our level, at this scale, like being able to fail in front of the entire world. Like, I can do anything. I can do anything. Because resilience isn't just about winning.
Starting point is 00:21:00 It's about showing up, even when it's hard. Listen to Hurtle with Emily Abadi on the IHeart Radio app. Podcasts for wherever you get your podcasts. Presented by Capital One, founding partner of I Heart Women's Sports. That's true. It'll kill the little man. But Shannon apparently didn't kill the little man. No, we helped him out.
Starting point is 00:21:21 Ryan kept funding it. You pumped his gas and you changed his flat. All right, so let's go back to this. The streamer helped me understand what's happening, because I actually turned on a minute of it when I was in the car. the streamer is streaming the game. Yep. And he's just talking, right? So he's like, oh, good shot.
Starting point is 00:21:41 Yeah. And who is this person? What's his name? Sports live reactions. That's not a person's name, Drew. Sports live reaction. That's who the streamer was. Sports live reaction.
Starting point is 00:21:54 Do you know where he's located? No idea. All right. What made you give him money? Well, you know, if somebody cut your hair, give him a tip. Somebody does, brings your food. You give him a tip. I was giving him a little tip. He was providing a game for me.
Starting point is 00:22:08 Now, what method did you use to pay him? Cash app. He was posting his cash app. Yeah, he's post his cash app, and he's Venmo and whatever. So how much did you give it? $10. This is my favorite thing that's ever happened in Rondman history. Couldn't you get the stream from seven?
Starting point is 00:22:28 And didn't you pay Sling on Saturday? Yeah. Why didn't you just get ESPN so you can just watch every game? game like normal. I wanted to help out. He's a hardworking man. I wanted to help him out. No, he's not hardworking. He didn't do anything. He's sitting there watching the game like you are. I felt like I was watching the with my buddy. He's like, oh, man, great move by O way. He's not your buddy. He does he doesn't know you. He is now. You pay them. So are you going to pay every game just a different form of entertainment here? Maybe while this is a little thing is going on. You gave him $10. If you remember, we told you you could get it for $7. Yeah, I got it for $7 in the actual game before. So you're in for $17.
Starting point is 00:23:03 for two games. For two games, $17. You can get the whole month and the whole ESPN. I just wanted to give him a little tip. Obviously, a ton of other UK fans were doing the same thing because he was constantly saying like, hey and then, thanks Matthew for the tip. So you gave him $10. You gave him $10. Yep. And then what happened? He said your name. Yeah, he says, you know, hey, thanks, Ryan. Thanks, thanks for
Starting point is 00:23:25 the donation. And that's all he says. Thanks, right. Yeah. Every time one would come in here, just thank you. Why did that matter to you so much? I mean, you have been on broadcast. You have been on television or radio now for over 30 years. I would assume you're used to your name and your image being said. Why did this random kid saying your name matter to you? Do you hear sports live reactions say it just was one of the highlights of my career? Sports live reactions.
Starting point is 00:23:54 Who is sports live reaction? I don't know. Ryan's new best friend. He is. At any moment, did you think about how he is in the process of committing a federal crime and you're paying him and putting your name on it? Well, that's why I was kind of complimenting him. Way to go.
Starting point is 00:24:08 Well, you were complimenting for the federal crime. Still that broadcast. You should Google. I think it's the Protecting Lawful Streaming Act. Yeah, I mean, did you consider that, like, you now have a cash record, electronic record of you giving an illegal streamer money and encouraging him on his behavior? Nope. But I tell you what, when his stream went out and I went to the other stream, if he was
Starting point is 00:24:33 taking cash app. I may have cashed app him too. No, wait, wait, wait a minute. Wait, wait a minute. You cash app two people. No, the other second guy was not soliciting tips. But if he was, I may have tip to him anyway. No, he didn't have a way to give it to that guy. It was like DK. Raider. You spent more money than if you had just, if you had just bought the app. That's good. Just tip tip your people that are providing you a service. But now you don't have anything. You could have ESPN all day today if you wanted it. There's more games. Here's the other thing.
Starting point is 00:25:04 You have nothing. Not only is their money trail, but now you're on the radio admitting to doing it. And listening to have audio. That's true. I kind of just threw them under the bus, didn't I? It's only about five to ten. I think sports reaction guys now like, well, we know where he is. Yep.
Starting point is 00:25:21 Brian's not going to make it to the second hour. The police are on the way. You are unbelievable. I mean, you really are. Like, your brain is just fascinating to me because it continues to be. your brain. Like it never stops being you. You don't just be a nice to the guy.
Starting point is 00:25:40 He's providing the game for a lot of UK fans. Yeah, I'll help him out a little bit. But I want to note, he's not doing anything. He's literally just hooking it up to his cable. Like he's just, he has like, Shannon, I don't know the technology, but he has like a cord, right? All he's doing is just taking it and just putting what's on the television
Starting point is 00:25:59 on his computer. And Ryan is assisting and encouraging this behavior. behavior. He didn't know. You forget he had audio connected to it. He had a little lower third going to run in all with his cash app. He had a lot of. Oh,
Starting point is 00:26:12 he's also asking for money. That was really. Do you know what he's going to do with this money? Do you know much about him? Is he a good character? How much do we think he made? Like you said a lot of people were doing. If he made more than $10, I will be shocked.
Starting point is 00:26:25 I'd say he read at least 50 to 60s names of people that didn't send him money. Okay. So let's just imagine. If 50 people send him $10, I mean, that's $500. Yeah. That's a lot of money. For streaming a game. Now, I would venture to say, Shannon, most people didn't send him $10.
Starting point is 00:26:44 Oh, yeah, I didn't send anything. I was just watching him commit the crime. I didn't encourage it. I didn't donate to the crime. But he's the guy that threw KSR and said, hey, what's wrong? Who is this KSR guy? What's wrong with KSR? Why aren't they doing this to my stream?
Starting point is 00:26:57 So they're not even like, he's not even a Kentucky guy. Because he was a Kentucky guy. There's a good chance he would know what KSR. No, he just knows we have a big fan base that we'll watch and donate. Did you hear my name? Did you hear my name? Did you hear my name? No, I didn't hear it, Ryan.
Starting point is 00:27:13 You were a child. We can give you a shout out. You were a child. Did you hear my name? Say my name. Unbelievable. Apparently this guy's wrong in Lemon Day. It really is.
Starting point is 00:27:25 One person writes, Matt, that guy's an Arkansas fan. He only streams Kentucky and Arkansas games. and during the Arkansas games he says go hogs so not only did Ryan give him money he gave an Arkansas fan money he's praying on you Brian I didn't know that's part of the story I may not have I made of getting only $5 at a $10 but if I watch it again Friday night I'm liable to send him more money Friday night you're going to go to the bar why don't you go to the bar Friday night it's there maybe I will yes it is there and they have the game on and they have the game and you could but I'll tip my server Get beer.
Starting point is 00:28:01 Yeah. Who you know? Who you know? Who works for us and who could use the... Like, why give it to this random guy? And they're doing actual work, not just stealing the internet at home. He was working hard. He was commentating on the game.
Starting point is 00:28:12 I'm sure he was working hard. 859-2802287. One person writes, Matt, have you all been at all disappointed at Otega Oway this year? Well, I have not. But I also don't believe Otega Oway is... you know, first-team All-American score. I think Otega Owey is O-Teg O-Wa. I mean, if you look at his final stats last night,
Starting point is 00:28:37 he had like 13 points and six rebounds or whatever. That's O'Hawah. Like, that's what he is. That's why it's been so important to me that Jalen Lowe be good. Because I don't think O'A is going to become a 20-point-of-game score. I just don't. So what he was last night is what he is. So if you want to be good, we got to get 15.
Starting point is 00:28:58 I've said, I think Jay and Lowe has to be our leading score if we're going to be really good. Now, he hasn't played yet. But I don't know that he's been all that disappointing because this is exactly what I think he is. And that's hugely important. But I think you've got to have another star and that's low. We'll take a break. Take your calls. 8-9-28027, KSR.
Starting point is 00:29:18 T.J. Smith, personal injury attorney. Call T.J. He'll make them pay. Now, more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. Here's Matt Jones. Welcome back, Techie Sports Radio. I mean, we had a big game. Most people are wanting to talk about Ryan. I'm most people.
Starting point is 00:29:37 Yeah. I got people texting me that they heard my name, though. Well, I mean, ultimately, that's what I'm going to be. That's hilarious to me, too. That's actually more funny to me than anything is that you wanted your name said by this random kid. Fake David Beckham says you're missing the point with Ryan. He basically paid the guy $10 because he felt like a buddy watching the game with me. Does he hate being alone this much?
Starting point is 00:30:05 Did you feel like you were with a friend? Well, I was with yoga girl. We were watching the game, but I felt like, you know, you know, just a buddy watched the game. You know, hey, great move. Otega, good job. If you want you, you can give me $10. I'll call you and say, hey, Ryan. I just put the phone down by my ear.
Starting point is 00:30:18 I could even mention you on the post game show. That'd be good. He didn't even say your last name either. I mean, there could be any Ryan. That's true. You have to pay more of that. Yeah. One person writes, Matt, I don't know why you don't do this.
Starting point is 00:30:32 If you just said people's name during the postgame show, you could get a ton of people to tip. That's probably true. That's very true. Yeah, but I just feel bad. I mean, like I've thought about over the years when I was still trying to decide whether I was going to renew with our heart, I kind of was wondering about maybe doing it on my own and doing that kind of thing. But, you know, I mean, we do well. I think that's a little bit of just taking people's money. I mean, clearly this guy didn't mind Shannon with Ryan.
Starting point is 00:31:02 I would take Ryan's money. I'll say your name. But they're boys. They're watching the game. Yeah. That's different. Yeah. Well, 859-280, 2287.
Starting point is 00:31:11 Who's up first, Shannon? Todd. Todd. Go ahead, Todd. Good morning, gentlemen. I got home last night and went straight to YouTube to see if the game was on. And I clicked on the live app or the live section. and the first three things were the UK basketball game popped up.
Starting point is 00:31:32 And both of them, both streams were right there together. So one was like PR Islam was the streaming, and the other one was the one Ryan sent money to. Islam? There was an Islam stream? Yeah. Yes. That's amazing.
Starting point is 00:31:46 It had like 21,000 views. There were 21,000 people watching the Islam stream. Yes. What do they do on the Islam Street? I have no clue. I didn't click on anything. I just watched it. It was just Arabic writing.
Starting point is 00:32:04 Wow, that's amazing. This whole new world, Shannon has introduced to, this illegal black market of the UK games. Yeah, they have complete, Shannon has completely introduced Big Blue Nation to the dark web of UK basketball. But go ahead. Yeah. He's making millionaires on a black web.
Starting point is 00:32:24 But I want to say Colin Chandler's dunk reminded me of Kenny Skywalker a little bit. Yeah, I mean, the way he cocked it back, and I appreciate the call. I mean, that's, you have to be, Drew, really athletic to pull off a dunk like that. Just to be in the air long enough and to hang your body like that. Like, I mean, you know, we've talked about that he's really athletic. I mean, that was obvious even last year. But if there was anybody still wondering, they don't wonder now, I wouldn't think. no and we knew he had that athleticism but just to do it in a game in like a half court set
Starting point is 00:32:59 the guy jumped with him he jumped kind of far out off two feet and you were talking about the reactions i love oway covers his eyes before chandler even coxed it it's like oh way saw it before anyone else there saw it and i think just being in the game made it so much better yeah i mean you could you could just tell they knew what was coming and they were uh they were very excited and they should have been. That was one for the ages. I have one more thing for the Ryan discussion because I don't want to leave it. It comes from Jacob on Twitter. He made a good point. Ryan noted that as soon as you tipped him, the stream went out and you went to another stream.
Starting point is 00:33:35 So like you paid him and then it was gone. Yeah. Yeah. He was having some troubles and he even tried to on the stream was trying to show us how he's trying to rectify it and it didn't work. Well, good. I'm glad you were part of that. I didn't know how direct from payment to you getting kicked off if it was just. It was way the second half, late in the second half when he had problems. I think what happened is he got the payment. He was like, well, now I got this guy's banking. Yeah, I'm out. I'm out.
Starting point is 00:34:00 Let's go. Let's go spend some money. So you're saying there were multiple streams. One of them had 20,000 people. Oh, they all had 20,000. Yeah. I mean, that's like sick. You're telling me there were 60,000 people watching these games.
Starting point is 00:34:12 And like I said, normally it's like two, maybe three thousand. So we've given, you know, quite a bump on his viewership. that's unbelievable yeah well i mean you know espn and youtube tv may have created this entire secondary they're going to end up getting all these people kicked out
Starting point is 00:34:31 well what they get too big what that tells me is you got at least 60,000 people who are youtube tv subscribers who are no longer subscribers if they're going to youtube well or at least can't like for me i'm a youtube tv subscriber i haven't gotten rid of it yet well that's true there could be people that still have it I mean, but I will say if it goes all that much longer, I'm just going to be like, well, what's the point?
Starting point is 00:34:52 Right. I kind of, in my view, this is going to, like, I want cable back. Like, cable worked. The thing is, we got rid of cable to end up with all these streaming companies. And now I think what everybody wants is a streaming company that puts all these back together, Shannon. Essentially, we want cable again. We wanted the way it was to begin with. We wanted the way it was before.
Starting point is 00:35:18 We've come full circle with this whole thing. We've come full circle. That's exactly right. Cable and direct, like, I literally just got rid of direct TV like two months ago. And now I kind of wish I had it because they didn't do this. You didn't have to find, you know, search to find the channels. It was all right there. But part of it is ESPN now knows they have all the cards.
Starting point is 00:35:38 Because since they have their own direct-to-consumer app, I think they think, like, we don't need these cable companies anymore. Now, I don't know if that's true. but I think it's what they think. And so that's why I think this one hasn't resolved like most of these end up doing. What's next? Let's go to Mike. Mike, go ahead, Mike. Hey, Matt, can you hear me?
Starting point is 00:36:01 Yes. So as a former TLS and Sarah graduate, I just wanted to congratulate you on Middlesbrough's big win this past weekend. Thank you very much. We're still celebrating. So what I just did right there, Matt, that's called Humility and Gratjave. race, and that seems to be something that you are completely devout of whenever you talk about TLS and Sayer on the show. I can no longer stand to Slander, hang on, just you went to both TLS and Sayer? Yes.
Starting point is 00:36:31 Okay. So, like, so you, listen, I have multiple friends that went to Sayer, and I have some good friends that have their kids at TLS now. So it's not like animosity, but there is a little sense of those of us who grew up in a rural area. you would understand us just sort of seeing you all as the 1% and we get more, I don't know what we would say. We get more sort of excitement in beating you. Yeah, sure, whatever. Also, I want to congratulate you on Zoran Mandami winning the election.
Starting point is 00:37:05 I know that's pretty big for you. Yeah, I'm not a huge Zoran guy, but of the candidates, I was fine with him. Although I did like the guy with the hat. I thought he was good. But, no, I mean, he's not my form of politics necessarily. I think there's a lot of lessons in him winning. He focused on, like, people's the cost of living and all that stuff. A lot of things Trump did.
Starting point is 00:37:25 So I think there's a lot of lessons for people as to why he won. But he's not, like, I'm not a socialist. So, I mean, that's not, he's not exactly like me. Yeah, I understand. I don't want to get too political. Thanks for having me on that. Go court. I appreciate it.
Starting point is 00:37:40 And go ponies. Whiskey thief call the day right there, I think. Yeah. I'll take it. Yeah. See, now that's a good call because he's kind of, Ryan, he's kind of giving him. me a hard time, but he's doing it a good-natured way. So I like that.
Starting point is 00:37:53 Giving you the business about your jackets? Yeah. But you can say, I mean, Shannon, if it's Jackets versus, if it's Middlesbrough versus Sayer, who's rooting for Sayer that didn't go to Sayer? Who's rooting for the rich private school? Nobody. Like when they make movies, like Hoosier, well, not Hoosiers necessarily, but when they make movies with like, they don't, people don't,
Starting point is 00:38:18 You cheer for the rich private school, right? You cheer for the villains. You cheer for the public school, maybe the one in the inner city or the one in the mountains. Like, that's what you do, Ryan. That's who you cheer for. You don't cheer for the one where all the kids, you know, parents are like investment bankers. Yeah, it's Middlesboro slash East Tennessee. That's who you're playing against.
Starting point is 00:38:41 See, there you go with the cheating again. Why do you do that? Also, in all-time wins, Sayers probably at the bottom of the entire state, so they're an underdog. they're the little guy in high school football. That's like arguing Lexington Christians, the underdog. These schools that are recent, like whatever, they put a lot of money into it. And good for them. I'm not whining.
Starting point is 00:39:00 I'm just saying when a group of mountain kids who've been out there working in the minds and then they come play football, Shannon, we should root for them. Yeah, they're the underdog. It's the underdog story. You pull for those guys. That's exactly right. I think they sent me the wrong ass. I think they sent me yesterday's.
Starting point is 00:39:20 But Draft King's Zumbo, so I can do this one. Let's do it. But you need to send me the other ones back. The NBA is back. We won two of three on the KSR Parlay, Drew Longs, but the other two won, and a new season means new ways into the action at Draft King's Sportsbook.
Starting point is 00:39:36 Official sports betting partner of the NBA, Drew and I will be doing college basketball parlays all year long, and you can do them also for the NBA. For additional terms, responsible gaming resources, see DKNG.C.O slash B-Ball.
Starting point is 00:39:59 We did get three or four in the first night. And you know, Drew, college basketball is hard. Especially spread because of free throws at the end. It's hard to know. Opening night. I shouldn't have bet the other BBN United tip-tip-off classic game. Yeah, that was your problem. The B-B-B-N, I did Duke and I did Georgia Southern,
Starting point is 00:40:16 and you went with the BBN United Tip-Off Classic. Those games are always... Well, Kentucky didn't cover, did they? Presented by Kentucky Tourism. Neither favorite covered in the BBN United Tip-Off Classic presented by Kentucky Tourism. That's right. We'll take a break.

Ferraris and Lamborghinis, private jets, meeting the president of Turkey. I'm Michelle McPhee, and this is one of the most shocking criminal conspiracies I've ever come across. When Jacob met Levin this went to a billion dollar fraud. But with two kings from entirely different worlds, just how long can their empire survive? The largest tax investigation in American history.

On Hurtle with Emily Abadi, we sit down with the most inspiring women in sports and wellness, professional athletes, coaches, and Olympic champions to talk about the challenges that shaped them
Starting point is 00:43:40 and the mindset that keeps them going. From the WNBA standout Kate Martin and rising hockey star Layla Edwards. If a boy can do it, I don't see why a girl can't. Like, I've never understood that. Like, it didn't make sense in my brain. It's hard to be in spaces that no one looks like you, but don't ever feel like you don't belong. Don't let that be the reason you don't do it.
Starting point is 00:43:58 An Olympic champs Gabby Thomas and Katie Ladeki. The ability to show a gold medal to someone and have their face light up and smile, that means the world to me. Listen to Hurtle with Emily Abadi on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Presented by Capital One, founding partner of IHart Women's Sports. Welcome back. It is Kentucky Sports Radio. 859-280-2287. Text machine.
Starting point is 00:44:42 A lot of people writing it about our guy, Ryan. when a person writes, why does Rye get more excited about a random streamer mention his name than when Tom Hart mentions his name? That's a good question. I mean, Tom Hart, that's on the actual broadcast. But I don't think it would have made you this excited. I do get excited when Tom mentions a KSR dropped,
Starting point is 00:45:02 or I can't deny that. He was texting me during the... I got to look it up. You owe him $10 then. I think I owe him $10. You know, Matt and all of us say your name on this show every day. It's got a few people listening. I think he forgets he's on the radio sometimes.
Starting point is 00:45:16 Yeah, I mean, there's more people listening to this than on the stream. Tom sent me a text. He liked my goat joke the other day. That's what it was. Oh, you're by or whatever. He was the only one. Yeah. Still not funny.
Starting point is 00:45:32 He was the only one. Yeah. Second time didn't make it any better. No, it didn't. No. I know this was your guy for a long time, Drew. Lil Wayne tweeted about Colin Chandler's dunk. That had to make you happy because I remember you, I don't know if you still are,
Starting point is 00:45:50 but you used to be a little Wayne guy. There was a point in my life where it was a bit of an obsession. In fact, he might have restraining order against me. Then he got a little weird. You really liked him. Oh, big feeling of a little Tucci. I remember at the same time, you and my ex were both huge Lil Wayne fans, and I didn't understand it.
Starting point is 00:46:08 But now, like, we thought he was all in on the cats because of cow, but maybe he's also in just period for tweeting about Colin Chandler. Other than Ryan telling me he paid for this guy on YouTube, the Lil Wayne tweet's been my favorite part of everything coming out of last night. It goes back to my childhood.
Starting point is 00:46:26 I was listening to Lil Wayne when I probably shouldn't have been listening to Lil Wayne, burning all the CDs. Huge fan. And then when Cal kind of brought him in, I loved it. And I worried that he might, you know, leave like a lot of celebrities probably did when Cal left. But I love that he's still all in on the Pope operation in Colin Chandler specifically.
Starting point is 00:46:41 and I look forward to seeing Lil Wayne at our next meeting with the fan club. Can I ask you guys a question? What does it mean when he says, oh, my lamb? It's like a saying. I've never heard that before. Colin Chandler, oh, my lamb. Well, I mean, I have no idea, but, you know, most people would say, oh, my, and then they might say, like, God. And lamb is often used in the Bible.
Starting point is 00:47:08 Instead of saying, oh, my gosh, or oh, my goodness, oh, my Atlanta. Oh, my lamb. You never heard that? I've never heard that. Oh, my lamb. Oh, my lanta. Oh, my lanta. Oh, my lanta.
Starting point is 00:47:21 I haven't heard that either. Where did you get that? That's when they found the body. Remember we saved that as a drop? I never got to use it. Oh, that's right. Yeah. It's a head to use that drop.
Starting point is 00:47:31 In London. Nice. All right. So on a serious note, before we get back to the phones, um, what happened in Louisville yesterday, just, you know, an absolute tragedy. I was mesmerized for a couple hours kind of following the story online.
Starting point is 00:47:51 I think according to Governor Bashir, I think there are nine people dead now, and they're still maybe 16 that they're not sure about. The plane crash is just awful. I mean, the three people on the crew, that's terrible. It was going from Louisville to Hawaii, so it had probably about as much fuel as you could have. And then, you know, I haven't heard to see, did it, I know it crashed into those buildings. Did it hit any Shannon residential areas? Do we know?
Starting point is 00:48:25 Not that I've seen. I think mostly just commercial businesses, you know. But the videos are astounding. I mean, they really are. The video, did you see the video of the guy, the truck? He's sitting in the truck? I mean, that one, because I just think about what if you were that guy, and you're just sitting in your truck and all of a sudden you see that behind you?
Starting point is 00:48:48 That is unfathable to me. And, you know, the fireball, Louisville's out of school, it affected the entire city. You know, what do you say in these things except prayers to everybody involved? I know there are families who still don't necessarily know where their level ones are, I can't imagine how that is. And we're thinking about you. And also, you know, to the first responders, that was a chaotic scene. You know, lots of buildings on fire, fuel in the air.
Starting point is 00:49:24 I'm sure there is still some danger from that. I don't know the science to know, but it can't be good. It's just awful. And I've said this before, but our state has had to deal with more. of these things than I think are our fair share, whether it's weather or now this. And, you know, it's just, it's just horrific. So I know the community will rally around them. That's what we do.
Starting point is 00:49:55 I know the city of Louisville will. I know, you know, even the, I mean, UPS has been a big part of the state. I know that everybody will do the best they can on it. But my prayers are with everyone. The scene yesterday were, you know, Ryan, they were out of like a movie. You couldn't believe you were seeing it in places that you knew. And I'm actually surprised the loss isn't greater than it is. Because when I saw the videos, I thought this is going to be unbelievable.
Starting point is 00:50:31 And thankfully, even though there is a loss, it maybe isn't what I thought it would have been when I first saw it. You're right. You're talking about that guy in the truck. I mean, that's going to haunt him for the rest of his life. It is these haunting images you have when it happened right in your own backyard just awful. Now, there is a news conference coming up, I think, at 11 that they're going to carry on WHAS. Okay. We'll update for whatever comes from it. But, you know, on a personal level, you know, I obviously am friends with Craig, the mayor,
Starting point is 00:51:00 and, you know, he's had a ton of stuff happen in his time as well. And it's just, it's just sad. I mean, did they say, was it, was it on fire as it was taking off? Is that what basically what happened? There's video of a fire on the plane that's going down the runway. But it was as it was taking off, not landing, right? Correct, right. Because it had all that fuel.
Starting point is 00:51:23 And they got to that speed to where you have to make a split second decision. Do you want to try to take that up into the air and circle around, or do you want to just stay on the ground? And that's got to be a tough decision to make in that moment. And they hit that building. Yep. And, you know, so I haven't seen, like, somebody said one of the buildings they hit also had fuel in it. Like it was a fuel storage building.
Starting point is 00:51:45 It was. It was a used motor oil plant. Oh, I mean, come on. Like what, like you couldn't ask for worse luck in that. So, well, it is, it is tragic what happens. And it's tragic when these things occur. But it is also an example of the best of our city. And I pray for everybody involved.
Starting point is 00:52:09 That, I think the fact that it was daylight, the fact that it was in a place we've all been, if you're in Louisville, the fact that the smoke kind of rained over the entire city, I think, has made this, you hear of a plane crash and you have one thought. But it's another thing when you see it, when you see it live on video, when you see the ramifications of it, I just think it hits harder. And I think this one is like that. So God bless all the folks involved. We will take a break and come back. Hour number two. This is Kentucky Sports Radio.
Starting point is 00:52:49 Another podcast from some SNL late night comedy guy, not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends.
