This Kentucky Sports Radio here live at Beer Nose Pizza in New Albany, Indiana, on Charlestown
Crossing for our annual UK U of L remote.
It is the serving Louisville-style pizza since 1977 here at Beer Nose.
It is the site, a beer nose in southern Indiana, of our first remote, and we are glad to be back again.
Let me hear from this crowd this morning.
Let everybody know.
This is an absolutely packed house.
If you're not here, well, you're missing out.
You can give a shout to Clark's pumping shop phone line 859-2-80-2287.
A-Vision Auto Glass Text Machine is 772-7754.
In this edition, sponsored by the T.J. Smith Law Office, if you call T.J., he'll make them pay.
it was, I guess it was fall 2011.
When Ryan Lemon and I did our first remote out in public, it was this game, but it was in December, and we did it.
And there were a lot of people there, not as many people is here today, but a good crowd.
And Ryan, who I thought would be Mr. Public, stood with his back to the crowd, nervous.
And now all these years later, here we are.
and once again a great packed house today.
First time I think we've ever done it on a Tuesday.
We usually do these on Friday,
but now because of the weird game this year of Tuesday.
I don't know why we ever doubt this fan base.
On a Tuesday morning, it is packed.
They were here early, pre-show was packed.
I want to tell you remember that first show.
Handsome Jimmy was there.
And you put Handsome Jimmy on it.
You and him had a back and forth.
Put some Jimmy on, baby.
That's right.
That was good.
Put some respect.
Our friend Kyle Maderas just reminded me this morning.
He was there.
It's a hungover 21-year-old.
Now he's married and he's like in his 30s.
It's amazing.
It is amazing.
and that was a different location, but it was the same beer nose.
And now this morning it is weird with a Kentucky Louisville game in November
and on a Tuesday on Veterans Day.
And big salute to all of our veterans out there across the state, across the area,
the Big Blue Nation.
But it is odd to have this game this day, but you know what?
It's on the schedule, so you've got to go win it.
And right over there across the river, Drew, is a chance to do.
I read your post last night.
And you said that since 2009, there's only two wins that count that Louisville has ever beaten us in that amount of time as they try to get number three tomorrow.
Both by three points.
Actually, the last four times Louisville has won, even going farther back, all been by three points.
So even when they're able to pull it off, it's been a one possession game.
And the spread is three and a half in one book and two and a half in the other one.
So that would be right toward it again.
Yeah.
Four and a half now.
Four and a half now.
It's up to four and a half now.
Dang it, I bet too early.
It's interesting.
We'll talk a little bit about that.
I mean, Louisville, I think, I listened to a lot of the national guys last night.
Louisville's kind of considered definitively the favorite.
We'll see if that's the right decision.
But I think about all the times that we've done these shows over the year,
and I think about specifically the games over there.
Because I actually think you can make an argument that outside the NCAA tournament,
the biggest Kentucky wins since Cal got here, have all.
Ben Ryan in the Yomson.
Okay, start with Jorts and the game where I don't think anybody thought we were going to
win that season.
And when we not only won, we absolutely dominated them.
Terrence Jones and Jorts crushed him.
I watched it with Perrin Johnson at the TV station laughing at him the entire time.
I think of the 2015 team when, you know, Willie was pointing at Montrez-Harrell over here
and mocking him as he hit the ground after Dunkin on him.
you had the Tyler Ulyss game, of course.
Well, that was the same game, I think, with the blood coming down his face.
I think this place has actually produced more of the good games, Ryan,
than the ones that have been a Rupp, which we generally just won going away every time.
You mentioned, when you said about games at over here at the Umpstner,
I immediately went to that 2015 game because that's the one they just totally dominated.
I think we all realized at that point, this team is special.
The way they came in there and just dismantled a good Louisville team.
We thought, oh, my goodness, this team could really see.
seriously do that 40-0 run we were talking about.
Now, this year's game has had, Shannon, more trash talking than probably.
You know, it was always very important to cow to act like this game was different.
They started it.
Right.
But I loved Otega O'Way yesterday.
He had like a sly grin on his face.
He said, I'm not trash talking.
I'll talk after we win, which in and of itself is kind of trash talking.
I loved it.
He also said, I just want to see him face to face.
That tells me there's going to be some fireworks.
There's going to be a dust.
At some point in this game, I wouldn't be surprised if it's in the first five minutes of the game.
Well, they're going to start it, but we have some guys that will continue it, Drew.
I mean, I think you can guarantee.
I'd like to have the over under point five technicals on Brandon Garrison tonight.
Over, yeah, over.
Because I think I would take the over if I was going to bet that.
Yeah, I mean, we saw this last year in Rupp Arena.
Garrison mixing it up.
There was the moment over on the sideline where Popens up putting Pat Kelsey in a headlock like he's a little.
forgot about that. That's right. Dahl over there. But, you know, sometimes for all of Pope's good,
sometimes I'll worry if he's got that fire to really, you know, get him round up for something like
this. And then our boy prior, him making that comment. And then we saw how the guys reacted yesterday.
You know, Pat Kelsey kind of defended him, so that's his personality. But I'm sure on the inside,
he's like, don't give them any more reason to work them up.
And you can see Kelsey was like, he didn't like it. Here's what I would say, right,
a consistent theme of all Kentucky teams in the last 20 years that have been really good is this.
they show up on the road as like dogs that want to win.
I mean, they don't always win every road game,
but they come out ready to punch people in the mouth.
I mean, I sit there and think about Demarcus Cousins,
the 2015 team, Anthony Davis, Fox Monk.
Okay, so I just named you what I think are the four best teams
of the last 15 years.
One of the things is you could see in their eyes
before they started a road game.
They were like, I love this.
I love this environment.
I love that everybody's screaming at me.
I love that everybody hates me.
They embrace the hate.
I'll be interested to see tonight, Ryan.
This is the earliest I can remember us ever having one of these games.
Will this team be like that?
I think they will, but it'll be interesting.
I think they will too because I think we've got a couple guys that have been on the road in some rough environments before.
You know, Aberdeens played in some rough environments when he was in Florida.
Diabate played some rough environment.
He's in Alabama.
Exactly.
O.A. last year.
Yeah. Jalen Lowe at Pitt.
Jalen Lowe, when he was at Pitt, everywhere,
they went. He was the person
they yelled at because he was the only good player they
had, right? You mentioned Brandon
Garison, so there's a lot of those guys. You mentioned
the five guys. Those five guys, I go to war with
those five guys tonight going into a hostile environment
like that. Lowe's played here.
He knows what's like to beat Louisville here,
so he knows how to handle the crowd.
I'm not worried about it. I'm just glad
that the trash talking has started because that's
what we need to throw some gas on the fire
in this robbery. I think that there's too much mutual
respect between Kelsey and Pope.
I don't think they're going to be the ones to start it,
But that's all we need it, that comment from prior after the last Louisville game.
All right, so let's talk about this game being this early in the year.
First of all, I think it stinks.
I hope these two programs don't ever do this again.
As I understand it, the reason this has to happen is that when we play at Louisville,
it's the ACC schedule that dictates the game.
The ACC does not have slots on ESPN on Saturdays in December.
So basically, if you're going to play an ACC home game,
It's going to have to be in November.
Kentucky apparently has petitioned to ask if they can flip one of their slots for Louisville
so that in the future this will always be in December.
But this year, it's the third game in November.
How does that affect the game?
You know, for the fans, we don't love it.
It's weird being before the football game.
I like, you know, we normally win this and it's right around Christmas.
I love spoiling Louisville's Christmas.
It's really my favorite part of the holiday season.
I don't love it today, but I'll be honest.
I don't need a calendar to hate Louisville.
Louisville. I hated them yesterday. I hate them today. I'll hate them tomorrow. I'll hate them
when Christmas gets here. So we'll get up for it, but it doesn't feel right. Like we didn't have
the build up. We've only played two basketball games, so I hope it gives move back, but I'll still be
fired up tonight. I listened a little bit to Mike Rutherford, who's kind of one of Louisville's big
reporters. I listen to his podcast, and he said that he thinks, and I think this is a good,
true, that if you ask the two fan bases, Ryan, on Thursday, what do you think's going to have?
would have been certain they were going to win, and we wouldn't have felt great about it.
Then we come out, pound Valpo, look like that offense that we thought it would be.
They then lose the football game to Cal, and now they're like, they're going to beat us again, aren't they?
And I think, Ryan, there's a little bit of that.
I think they have a little bit of, are you kidding me, they're going to come in here and beat us again.
Yeah, I think we all thought they might be, Kentucky might be limping into this game.
And we beat Florida in football, too, by the way.
Amen.
Yeah, I got to throw that in there.
The fact that, you know, Lowe came back and looked so well,
Aberdeen played came in and playing so well,
I think that it adds to our optimism about what can happen tonight,
maybe scare Louisville a little bit.
They may have the best guard on the floor,
but our back court is better than their backport.
Well, they have the most talented guard on the floor,
but he's just in his third game, right?
And he hasn't, I mean, I think he's going to be great.
Like, I'm not trying to downplay him,
but, you know, I'm kind of glad we're catching him now
because I think by the time you get to January and February,
that kid's going to be really good.
This is just his third game, Shannon.
This is his first big game.
So it's a little bit of a different situation.
Both teams also trying to figure out, manage minutes,
try to figure out their rotation.
So it's going to be a learning curve, I think, for both teams tonight.
But regardless, this game just means so much to this fan base.
Now, how many of you are going to the game tonight?
Now, I mean, you can just see that's a pretty good crowd of hands.
I think Drew, there's going to be more Kentucky fans in that building.
I'm going to the Yom Center for the first time in like eight years tonight.
I haven't been to that.
What are you out of your mind?
Try not to get punched.
Yeah, I mean, I haven't been there.
I haven't been there for a UK U of L game in a long time, but you know what?
I was like, why not?
I'll go down to the studio.
I'll do show.
I'll walk over there.
And the last time I was there, their student section chanted FU Matt as I walked into the arena.
Keeping it classy.
And so we're going to try to do that again.
Mario's going to go in to protect me.
I've never covered a little.
He's only 5-7 bodyguard in the entire.
He's got his chain wallet, though.
He does have his chain wall.
Don't forget your leather pants tonight.
That'll really intimidate them.
I thought I never covered a Kentucky Louisville game football or basketball in this
in the city.
I always thought I'd stay away.
But then last summer I thought, you know what?
I'm a tiptoe in.
I'll go to the TBT game.
Just see how I fit in their community.
You were going to ease.
And I got hit.
And I'm like, you know what, that's why I don't go to their events.
So I will be at home on the couch.
I'm 0 for one on being in the same building as those.
I didn't request a credential until yesterday, so I don't have a seat.
So I may have to roam around and maybe that.
I don't know if that's the smartest move in the world, but I think that's what I'm going to have to do.
But I feel like you're right.
I think a lot of blue is going to get in.
So you may have a lot of people there to protect you and kind of.
How much do you think, by the way, if we're going to go like percentage-wise,
Kentucky fans get in tonight?
Well, there have been games in there.
I mean, there have been games in there where I think they've had 25.
percent of the crowd. I'd say tonight won't be quite that because they're more excited about their
team with Kelsey. But I think it'll be a lot. And I think as you go to the top, it'll be a ton of
Kentucky fans. Because those are the tickets that went on sale to the general public.
This is the one game that Pat Kelsey doesn't have to go out and beg fans to actually come see
them play. They just show up voluntarily tonight. Well, I mean, they have not had good crowds so far this year.
But I actually, but tonight it will be full. Do you,
expect this group to be a group that the crowd impacts, meaning our team?
Yeah, I think so.
In a negative or positive way?
Positive.
Okay.
Both of these teams are new, but on the Kentucky side, you still have O'Way who had 17
points in this game last year.
You have Brandon Garrison who tried to break someone's face last year.
Jalen Lowe, even though it was a different team, he's played Louisville plenty of times,
played well.
Pat Kelsey has lots of good comments about him.
So, you know, Louisville's got freshmen.
They're a pretty new team.
We're a new roster, but we have more guys that have actually.
been in this specific rivalry game and I think they'll be ready for the moment.
And at the end of the day, one thing to remember, since the series restarted in 1983, Kentucky is 31 and
14. Even if you allow them the games that they have over the years had taken away by the NCAA,
we are still 11 and 3 in the last 14. We absolutely own them and there's no reason to think it
won't continue tonight. 859-28027. The text machine is 7703.000.

Welcome back. It is Kentucky Sports Radio here live at Beer Nose in Southern Indiana.
I do want to take a second to just sit here and like, I want you to look at this crowd on a Tuesday more.
I mean, it's Tuesday in November.
It's barely college basketball season.
And we're not only closer to their home city.
We're in a different state.
And this place is absolutely full.
There is nothing like the Big Blue Nation.
anywhere, I would argue anywhere in sports, but certainly Drew anywhere in college basketball.
Yeah, and I like the show of hands you earlier of who's going to the game, too.
That gives me more optimism about the crowd.
I've been like that some of those people are already having a beer, and it's not even 1030s,
so it should be a good environment tonight.
You know, Drew and I are going this weekend to Buffalo for the bills.
We're going to Tampa Bay and Buffalo, and that's obviously a fan base that has a unique set of passion.
I'm interested to see and compare it.
Are you going through a table this one?
I'm so excited.
Well, there's a balance because I want to join the mafia, Bill's mafia.
But we do have to work.
But we have to do a podcast that evening.
So got to be a pitch count that we'll figure out in there somewhere.
But I'm excited to get up there.
Let me also apologize to people about the audio on Cover Zero.
It's Billy's fault.
No, it's not Billy's fault.
It just.
Look at his face right now.
He's so enjoyed by him right now.
I'm just kidding.
It's not Billy's fault.
It just, it just look at how upset he looks.
Looks could kill.
Dagger's.
But no, it just didn't, for whatever reason, the studio did not work well, which stinks,
because I actually think it was like our best episode, but you can hear it, but it doesn't sound the best because of it.
The line, Drew, has jumped to now Louisville by six and a half.
It started, it started on draft kings at two and a half.
It started on the other one at three and a half.
It's gone up to six and a half.
Now, you rarely, rarely in a college basketball game, absent an injury,
see a move on the line that much.
Are you, is there something we don't know, or is it just like early, like, what do you,
what do you make of that?
That is extremely rare.
That's weird.
And I hammered the three and a half from kicking myself now.
I didn't think I'd get a better number.
I'm going to have to get my money up with Garrett and double down on this.
I can't believe it's six and a half without something news coming out.
And I haven't seen or heard of anything.
Yeah, so I would say to you, promo code KSR.
I mean, six and a half is a heck of it.
I can't imagine it stays at that.
Normally, if I were to see a six and a six.
a move of four points this far before a game you would have to think there's some piece of news
that has leaked out i have not seen anything i've not heard anything but shannon that is a really
surprising move and i don't think louville i think louisville could win but i don't think they
deserve to be a six and a half point it moved two points just this morning it was four and a half
when i woke up now six and a half i just threw some money on it so let's go i hope on kutk
Of course, three-leg parlay, 0815 or more.
I did under on the 174 and a half.
That feels kind of high.
I actually think this will, Ryan, not be a high-scoring game
because I think both teams are still fine in their offense.
I think these teams are built a lot alike, to be honest with you.
And actually, I think under is probably a smart move.
They are very similar, especially on the offensive end.
They like to push the pace, get it up and down the floor.
So on that aspect, you'd think they would score a lot of points.
But Kentucky's defense, to me, I believe, is elite, elite, elite.
So I think they're going to shut them down tonight.
Because it's a big game I brought out, Drew.
These are the true blue customs.
Oh, no, no, no, nearly knocked the table.
This is the shoes, the exact same kind of shoes,
Ashton Hagan's wore.
You may remember when he destroyed them in that game here.
This is not the exact same pair,
but it's the same ones I brought them out.
I haven't worn these in a number of years as well.
It just shows how important this game is.
We all have to do our part,
and I know you're putting on your big,
your game day shoes.
to get fired up. Your shoes look like cake. Have you seen these things on the online words,
is it cake? And it looks like it's a real thing and you can cut right through it. What do you mean?
Those shoes look like. Have you not seen that before? No. It's like things that look very
realistic. But it's called is it cake? And you just show they just show like cutting a knife through it.
Your shoes look like that. That's a nice Instagram algorithm that you're on. Who's the key player
tonight for us, by the way? I mean, I think oh, to me, always a given. You can go ahead and sign up
O-A for 13 to 16 points tonight right now. He'll be in that. You said 15. That's where he's going to be.
I don't want to keep saying Jalen Lowe's important, but he's important. But if you go back and look,
I'm going to assume those two guys play well. Jailen Lowe's played well against Louisville multiple times,
always away. But if you look at Kentucky's wins over the year against Louisville, there's always another guy.
There's always some guy that's a secondary player like Dominique Hawkins was, Jorts was,
that one year who who who kosh who kosh that's right so who is that guy who do you think uh there will be
one of those guys because there always is and for me i am going to look towards the mountains and go
with trit noah finally getting hot from three well i was going to add as long as he's healthy because
we don't know anything officially if trit noah plays that's a guy who knows plenty about this robbery
I don't think he even got in much at all last year, though.
So one of those under-radar guys that I think could surprise everyone is Trent Noah getting hot.
How about if I go Yellovich?
I think we need to meet some outside shooting tonight.
That's one thing he can do.
He would be a surprise if he came in.
Maybe he could somebody come.
Cedric Jenkins.
A big guy, Jorz, Rukash, a big guy usually does something surprising.
So I go Yellovich.
Moreno has been my guy from the beginning.
You can ask Billy.
I was telling him, I think he's going to be the guy that's going to surprise some people off the bench.
Of course, he just at 18 last game.
So it might not be that big of surprise if he has a big game tonight,
but I think that he will tonight.
If you listen to this show, you're going to be very surprised with my answer.
I see three three-pointers from a guy who's only made one all year.
Cam Williams is going to come in because he's going to get the looks.
Okay, he's going to get the looks tonight.
He has not made them.
What would be more of a way to drive Louisville fans crazy
than a guy who has not made a shot all year to come in and hit three against the?
them. To me, that would eat at them more than anything else, which is why I'd like to see it happen.
Not even one of the guys they're looking to. It'd be nice. I still think he needs to break out of his shell.
It'd be nice for him to have a big game. And, you know, we always have the pictures of the guys that play well doing the
the L's down. They get that MVP trophy. I'd love for him to be in that conversation.
Also remember, Antonio Reeves did it. Antonio Reeves did it two years ago when he wasn't Antonio
Reeves, you know, not his senior year. He's junior year. He actually hit a couple of big
shots in this game, Ryan, before he was Antonio Reeves.
And then the next year, he went off in this game.
He was a guy who did really well in this series.
Ken Williams is a good pick because we don't know if Trent no one's going to play.
If Trent doesn't play, well, that gets Ken minutes, maybe some more minutes to get out there
and maybe help him and do something.
859-28027.
We're going to talk more about the game.
I do want to take just a second because, you know, nobody loves, if you think about
the history of UK basketball, the people who hated Louisville the most, number one was
Bill Kightly. But number two is probably Oscar Combs. And yesterday, Oscar announced that his
wife, Donna Combs, wife of 61 years, passed away from cancer. I just want to take a say,
it's very, very sad, but also on this UK U of L day, just to note, because there's a whole
generation of fans. I'd say a lot of people in here know this, but there's a whole generation
of fans who listen to us who don't realize Oscar Combs' history and his
wife was a big part of that started the cat's paws basically made modern uk fandom modern uk fan
media started with him not just at uk he and the and the place at notre dame started the whole notion
of fan media all over the country they had two of it they were like we can market directly to fans
it doesn't just have to be newspapers his wife did a ton of the business stuff around cats paws
Oscar was the face, but like a lot of wives, she was in the background doing a lot of the work.
He would be the most nerd.
You think I'm nervous during UK U of L games.
You should have seen Oscar back in the day.
He'd be backstage pacing, nervous about it.
That couple really is, in my opinion, the first couple of UK media.
And KSR would not be here without Oscar Combs.
And you folks here in the crowd, this would not have happened.
So I want to take a second to honor her passing.
Please everybody pray for Oscar.
Nobody was closer with their wife than he was.
And I hope tonight they get a win in her honor
because I'd love to see Oscar Combs happy after the game this evening.
We're going to take a break.
We'll be right back here to talk more about the game.
A little football news as well.
This is Kentucky Sports Radio live at Beernoze in southern Indiana.
Welcome back.
It is Kentucky Sports Radio here live at Beernose.
Beer Nose has the Mama Beer Nose Pizza,
sausage, pepperoni, mushrooms, onions, green peppers, black olives,
blue, black olives, top with the finest mozzarella cheese
or their delicious sandwiches. Check it out. It is mama, beer nose.
I love beer nose pizza. Leave aside the black olives.
But the pepperoni and the rest, I'm a huge.
I'll take the black olives. Load it up, man. I love beer nose.
All right, let's, there you go.
859-280-2287.
Somebody sent me a message. I think this is true.
Tonight, Kentucky and Louisville fans, or excuse me, Kentucky and Louisville players,
will be wearing a black band on their jerseys in honor of the victims of the crash with the UPS flight,
the 14 victims that occurred, which I think is a really nice thing for the game tonight.
Nice touch for both teams to do that, step up, because it affected all of us in our United States, so good job.
Yes, 859-28027.
Still don't know why it went to six and a half, but a chance to make some money.
Let's quickly, before we go to the phone, Stoops, it was announced, Drew, said,
Zach Kalsata, he basically insinuated he didn't play in the last game as a punishment,
but that all is good now.
He took responsibility, and he basically said, hey, we're good.
And then he also kind of took a shot, I think, at Garrett.
He essentially said, we don't need fans trolling the players.
So I thought kind of the reaction we had, it looks like Kowzada will be going forward
if he needed to play, be able to play.
Yeah, I thought it was interesting.
added that part at the end. I mean, I agree with him. You shouldn't do that. But to hear,
you know, a coach say that in the press conference, that's not normally he stoop's. He's
he's usually sticking to the script, but he made a point to say, we will not surrender to trolls.
Yeah, that's how he said it. We will not surrender to track, but something like that.
Yeah. I'm going to say he said it. We won't give in to the trolls or give attention to the
trolls. Is it possible, Ryan, that they use this as a rallying point that is weird as that went?
part of me wonders if the Garrett phone call might not have been a little bit of a rallying point.
Like this dude, you know, this dude, he did it.
Because, you know, the fact that the players did it and did, I mean, our starting quarterback did it.
Like, they clearly didn't think they were going to get in trouble for it.
I wonder if they used that whole thing as a rallying point.
I have no doubt it's been a rallying point.
It has unified that locker room maybe a little bit more than it even was.
Because, you know, Kauzzata's not the only player that gets trolled like that.
Most of them do.
play you're getting trolled by some redneck hillbilly fan out there oh whoa whoa what are you
what are you getting all worked up for i'm back in my home state today i can say how i feel
but yeah i read one of his six that's right yeah yeah i read garrett's he issued an apology
last night wait a minute hang on garrett issued an apology yeah you didn't see this no what it was his
apology okay i'll get it for you you have to read it but first of all everybody's
Is Garrett enough of a public figure to need to apologize?
He's enough of a public figure for Buzz Baker to retweet him.
Well, I wonder.
That's how I saw it.
I wonder for the reason he did it because he was getting so much pushback.
People were clapping back at him.
Okay, so what did Garrett say?
I haven't got to pull it up.
All right, while you're looking it up, do you think it may have been used as a rallying crowd?
I think that we've got Garrett's picture up in the locker room, and that's going to be the guy that we're going to use as the motivation to finish the season and go to a bowl.
It's a very long tweet.
That's a very long tweet.
I'm going to do the short version.
Hey, everyone, I've thought about my actions.
The message I sit was uncalled for and very immature.
It does not reflect on me as a person, and I'm sorry to Zach for putting it out there.
It makes me in our football program look bad as a whole, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
I'm the biggest Kentucky fan in the world, and it makes our fan base look poor.
I will do better, and I will continue to cheer on the cats.
Now it's time to go get my money up and watch Kentucky take down the cards tomorrow and I.
I like that part.
I did like that.
That's a good way to end it.
Maybe we all learn something through all this, Drew Franklin.
Well, we all need to be more financially responsible.
We've learned that.
We need to get our money up.
I like Garrett.
He's replying to a lot of people, kind of being self-deprecating.
He's like, I've got to go back to just getting my money up.
I mean, he's leaning into it, too.
So everybody, it's become fun now.
Maybe we, maybe everybody will score a W off this, which I wouldn't have necessarily seen.
All right, who's up first?
God, Brandt up first.
Brandt.
Go ahead, Brandt.
Hey, Matt.
Good morning, guys.
Hey, two things real quick.
First, after the Louisville player said that about Kentucky,
I feel like the Kentucky guys on this team,
the ones that are from Kentucky,
they're going to come in and play very motivated tonight.
I feel really good about us getting that win.
And then secondly, on the football side,
Stoves is going to beat Louisville.
I already feel it.
Vince left him to go to Louisville.
He already hates Louisville.
I feel like that's going to be another win
and he's going to get to six and six.
Thanks, guys.
Go cats.
I want you to think about just a second,
Like we can do this tonight because who knows if we'll be able to do it tomorrow.
Drew, I want you to think about the psyche of a Louisville fan if over the next two weeks we beat them in basketball and football.
Okay, because they would have like, they basically would have thought the football game was a given, even 10 days ago.
And then with the basketball game, maybe especially after we lost to Georgetown, they probably thought, hey, we got, what if we took them down, Drew, in both of these games in the next two weeks?
Both of them on their home field, home court.
I think that would be pretty nice from the psyche.
Yeah.
They've been very cocky lately.
Now, not since the weekend, but just a week ago, play off this, play off that.
Kelsey's going to get Pope.
Kentucky, you know, complaining about their roster saying we don't have any stars.
We've all seen all this stuff on Twitter.
And now their tone has changed.
And this morning, I know it's a lot of more of the Kentucky optimism and confidence online
than what we're hearing from Louisville fans for several weeks.
Well, it's not just that.
There is a little.
segment of Louisville fans, Ryan, you know this, that think they're going to get Cutter
Bowley next year. I mean, there's a segment of Louisville. They think that. There's a segment
that believe all, because, you know, Vince was the main recruiter of Cutter when he was in, when he was in
Lexington. There are Louisville fans that think that if you were to go in and beat them twice,
I think that would be absolutely hilarious. I think we all agree as Kentucky fans, we cannot
wait to win this game at the Yump Center and then come back in a couple weeks and beat him on their
home football field and just ruin what they thought was going to be a special season. Cannot wait.
I got to give them a compliment, though.
It's amazing how they talk themselves into stuff, only to lose all the time.
It is truly incredible how they get up in the morning and talk themselves into things.
You cut your bully is not going to Louisville, but the fact that they would even dream that,
just added to the list of them being delirious.
You do have to give them some credit for delusional self-confidence.
I mean, they really are Charlie Brown kicking the football.
I mean, they lose, and they lose, and they lose, and then they get up, Shannon, and they're confident.
Well, you know, this year, because their argument always flips.
You know, for years they were like, Cal's freshman will never be able to.
We're experienced.
And now this year they're going, those experienced guys, they're not as good as our talent.
Like, they just don't, they find a way to talk themselves into it.
A couple of years ago, you know, the fan base kind of got quiet, really wasn't chesty,
but now I've kind of since that's coming back.
Well, because Kenny won all those games.
That's true.
Yeah, that was just pathetic what happened there.
But then they came back, you know, and now they're kind of back to where they were before,
but I think we shut them up tonight.
And Kelsey's got a good roster.
but they gave all the recruits they said they were getting,
and zero of them went there.
They were going to get DJ Wagner,
and then they were going to get them to transfer there.
Tyron Stokes.
Everybody was, like, bidding on some recruit last fall.
I don't even remember.
I didn't really get involved in that where you could, like, pay,
and the kid would maybe go to your school.
Is that Caleb Wilson?
Somebody.
They thought they were getting him.
A kid that just went to Kansas,
but all of these guys,
they had them already playing for Louisville in their minds just to lose again.
Let's talk about their actual team.
So they're a lot like us.
I mean, they've got a lot of guards who can get around.
They've got the kid from Virginia is a pretty good shooter.
Pryor has not played much.
You've got McHale Brown.
They got a lot of unknowns.
They really have not played well this year yet.
I mean, they lost to Kansas by a lot.
They're, of course, saying, well, Kansas is a lot better than Kentucky.
Even their two games, their first two games have kind of been,
I mean, they have not looked good.
yet. So, Ryan, it's hard for me to know what they are because I haven't really seen them play
well yet. We've at least played well in a couple of games. Yeah, I don't know a whole lot about them yet.
I did listen to one of their games was on the radio because I had it on 840 AWHAS after your postgame
show. And the guy the next day in the game was on. By the way, that's, you want to talk about,
for those of you from the Louisville area, how about this? How about Kentucky's gotten to the
point that our pregame and post game show preempts their games? Okay. No, I mean, think about
that for a minute. When I started on the radio, Louisville games preempted Kentucky games.
Now the KSR post game show preempts their actual game. Nevertheless, go ahead.
I know they got three guys that are pretty good shooters. Brown, I think one name's McNeely.
McNeely's the guy from Virginia. And then they got a third guy, and they like to play Temple,
which kind of, that's what we like to do offensively. I just think our advantage is on the defensive end.
I just think we're so elite defensively. I don't know how much you're able to get inside and get those
shots off we have a text from a woman Karen Blondell that's my mother I've heard of
Karen Blondell saying please tell Ryan to be careful with disparaging hillbillies even though I do
like him I am myself a hillbilly would you like to apologize no because I'm myself a
hillbilly I're not going to apologize to my mother oh I apologize to your mother all day
home yeah absolutely I don't think she was offended no I think she was offended on
behalf but I think since I am a hillbilly can I make fun of other hillbillies
uh yeah you're going to give me
You're going to let him?
Yeah.
All right.
Fair enough.
I was...
Ryan gets away with things that other people don't, you know?
Listen, when it comes to...
Especially when it comes to misogynistic comments.
Like, oh, it's just Ryan.
Oh, it's just Ryan.
He's an excitable boy.
Well played.
He pours that pot roast right on his chest.

Upwell is not the Hills.
Welcome back. It is Kentucky Sports Radio.
Ryan's over here telling me he's, you are not from the Hills.
Upwell, Indiana is not the Hills.
That's not true.
There are no, that's not Hills.
The hills, Easter Kentucky's the hills, this is different.
This is Indiana.
That's not the same thing.
You've not been over there and seen Otwell, Indiana then.
I thought you said Indiana's flat in cornfields.
It is.
That's not a hill.
Literally, the word hillbilly implies hills.
If you live in a, you're a flatbilly.
Half of Indiana's hilly.
Is the part you're from hilly?
Half and half.
We got a good, solid 400 residents in Otwell, Indiana.
We're proud of it, Dan.
859-280 2287.
Brian Kelly, okay, so did you see?
Just interesting to watch, probably is not going to matter now for Kentucky after these two wins.
I don't think we're going to get to a situation that we thought we would.
But Brian Kelly was owed $54 million.
Apparently, LSU went up to him and said, we'll give you $30 just to drop everything and go.
Brian Kelly said, you owe me $54.
You're giving me all 54.
So now LSU is apparently is considering saying that they fired him for cause.
I don't know how their argument is we haven't actually fired you yet.
We are going to fire you for cause.
I don't know how they get away with that since they haven't let him coach.
So he has now filed a lawsuit asking for his $54 million.
He's filing it this morning.
Shannon, there's an alternate world where if we had lost,
to Auburn and Florida, this could be our life.
Okay?
I mean, there's an alternate world that that could have happened.
But Brian, LSU had this issue with Orgeron, now with Kelly,
and Brian Kelly, who seems like such a nice guy.
He is, he is like saying, I want all of my money, and he's asking for all 54 million.
And I'm glad we're not.
Would you do the same?
You know, I mean, if it's in the contract, why are we signing the contract that says 54 million?
It's there.
So I feel like LSU owes them that money.
The thing is, how are they going to find a cause?
They're just going to make something out of the blue?
You know, that, okay.
Well, I would say to Brian Kelly, I hope you haven't done anything wrong in the last three or four years.
Because, I mean, that's what they'll, you know, that's why this starts to get dangerous is because, you know, I mean, with Orgeron, when he started fighting it, they were like, hey, who was that woman that went to all the practices that was not your wife?
Like, like, that's the, you know, you better, like, you better make sure, because it sounds like LSU finds a way to find stuff.
Yeah, and I'm not here to defend Brian Kelly.
He seems like an arrogant jerk.
But I will say they made an agreement.
And, you know, I would probably work with him if I were in his shoes,
but I completely understand why he'd hold his ground.
So the piece of paper they signed and said 54 million.
So I'll ask you guys.
Let's assume you had done nothing wrong.
Because in your mind, if you do something wrong, maybe you would sign it.
Yep.
Let's assume you'd done nothing wrong.
They owe you 54 million.
They say we'll give you 30 and we won't fight it.
Are you taking the 54?
Are you taking the 30?
You're fighting for the 54?
I'm fighting for the 54.
What about you?
I'm fighting for the 54.
I don't know LSU anything.
Yeah, and you?
I'm me at 50.
You've caught 50.
You're giving four miles.
I'm not going to 30.
Yeah.
That's a big jump from 54 to 30.
What are you doing in that situation, Matt?
I mean, if I haven't done anything wrong and I think the contract is right, I'm going to say, I might be like Drew.
I mean, I literally might be like, all right, we don't want to pay for the legal fees, so go to 48 or 50, but like, you owe me the money.
Yeah, I mean, 30 is a big difference.
difference. That's a huge difference. And it's not like Mark Stoops here. Mark Stoops has goodwill
with Kentucky. He'd like to come back and get the Rich Brooks, Tubby Smith treatment. He'd like to
have that. Brian Kelly has no goodwill. He's like, you all just threw your middle fingers up at me,
so all the more reason I wouldn't want to be. This is on LSU for signing a lucrative deal.
It is. So I got a question, though, if they're removing from his coaching duties,
how can they come back later and I don't want to fire you to cause? That argument seems ridiculous
to me. Let me ask you a question. Just a thought here. If I were to say, historically,
number one card killer in UK basketball history, when I say, who is the card killer?
Who's your top three in UK basketball history? Who would you put in the list?
Rex.
I think Rex has got to be on it. I don't know if he's number one, but Rex has got to be on it.
Because Rex was, he had, what, two really good games against Louisville. Both times he played Louisville.
he dominated. Both times he played Louisville. So Rex would be one. Who else? So hung up on the Cali
Harrow where most of them only played him one time. I'm trying to think of somebody who had multiple
games. Tyler Uis had two really good games against him if you wanted to, if you wanted to do it.
He had two really excellent. Aaron Harrison went undefeated against him and hit the shot that
knocked him out of the tournament. Boy, that's a good one. That was their beloved team. Because Aaron,
because that team, we beat them twice that year. I mean, we obviously remember the tournament,
but a lot of people forget that we also beat them in a regular season surprised them that year
in that one as well the harrison's where they go four and oh against them because then they won in the t bttie
so they just oh yeah i think there's your answer then there's your answer yeah i think erin
the harrison's a four and oh with a buzzer beater you're throwing in the tvt as well ask my jaw about the
tbt i still fill it so of course i'm counting it i think erin harrison has to be in it you
that's interesting how many people in uk history have gone four and o against the against louville probably not
many with a buzzer beater in the tournament that sent him home or not a buzzer beater but
final minute i'll take the harrison's as one of them that's good what about older i mean we always
remember cedric jenkins made the tip but what about just in general who was the guy that you knew
would play well against louis yeah we mentioned wukosh i mean wukhov's kind of a role player
but he always seemed to have his best games against louisville so it was only in one year but
patrick sparks big three-pointer oh patrick sparks that's a really good one that's a great
UK U of L moment when
Kutubby comes up to him goes what are you doing for Thanksgiving
and then he just hits all those free throws
Do you think he walked?
No
No
Of course not
Who's up now?
Who's up next?
David is up next
David go ahead David
Hey
How you doing Matt
You're just going to have to talk
David we can't go ahead
You just got to go because we've got feedback
So I can't cut you know go back and forth
Oh okay
I just want to say another, I just want to say this about this rivalry.
I think, in my opinion, it is better than Duke North Carolina because we play once a year
and we get a four-year bragging ride as well.
Duke of Carolina play twice, and it's not as fun if you split it.
You know what I mean?
All right, so I appreciate the call, David.
Let me, I've been part of both.
There's very few people, I would say, in the country who've been on ground zero of both of those rivalers.
Here's the difference.
All right, the quality of the Duke Carolina games is usually better because it's late in the year.
Both those teams are usually really good.
They're right down the street from each other.
And usually the opposing team does not get in.
When you're at a Duke game, it's all Duke fans.
When you're at Carolina, it's all Carolina fans.
With that said, they don't hate each other as much as we do.
They just don't.
They all go to the same.
If you go to Duke and Carolina, y'all go to the same bars.
Everybody dates each other.
You know each other.
It's not, hey, this is different.
Okay?
I would say their games are better, but Drew, the hate of Duke Louisville, to me, is much higher
than it is of Duke, Carolina, having spent times in both of.
Oh, definitely.
And there's been national people say that, too, just not our opinion.
The one thing I'll give them the edge, though, on their rivalry,
is that it's a little more balanced, like,
Louisville is really not holding up their end of this rivalry, so it takes a little of fun out.
So I don't ever want Louisville to win, but at least in that one, they should put up a fight.
This one's getting a little lopsided.
That's true.
They never beat us in Lexington, and we beat them more than they beat us in Louisville.
So it's hard to call it a rivalry.
And the hate is greater here.
You people here that have to live it every single day fighting those people over there.
That's exactly right.
Did you know the scoring margin is double digits in the last 15 years in a rivalry game?
That's embarrassing, Louisville.
It is.
So I would say Carolina Duke made.
have better games, but the better rivalry is Kentucky Louisville.
We'll take a break.
Come back.
