Just a little bit south
of Buffalo in a
wonderful neighborhood where we
last night got to
go to the Buffalo Bills game and had an amazing day.
You can give us a shout on the Clark's Pump and Shop phone line.

He'll make them pay.
It has been a great weekend here.
There's been a lot that's happened.
We had a football game Friday.
We had a football game Saturday.
And then we drove to Buffalo.
We were here.
went to Buffalo Bill's Tampa Bay game on Sunday,
and now we will drive home today.
I'm sitting here with Drew Franklin and Billy R. Sports,
or is we now calling Billy R. Veggie,
and it is going to be a fun weekend.
We've got so much we can talk about,
so it's hard to know where to start.
The basketball team rolls against Eastern Illinois.
The football team rolls against Tennessee Tech.
And then, of course, what happened yesterday.
I don't even know where to start, Drew,
I mean, we can kind of go through the timeline.
Where do you think is the way to go?
I mean, I'm most excited to talk Buffalo,
but if you want to go chronologically, that would make sense.
Do the basketball win?
Basketball needed a good taste after the events earlier in the week.
Well, I also would say to you, if you haven't yet listened,
the timeline or the podcast feed has a lot of good material from the weekend.
Okay, so you've got the basketball post-game show.
Friday night. You got the
football post game show from Geneva,
Ohio on Saturday,
and then you got Cover Zero, which came
out last night. And I would suggest listening
to all of those, because I think you'd get
kind of a timeline of the trip.
Which of the Cover Zero
football postgame show talked more
actual football? Because
they were both limited
in their exes and us. I mean, we got into the football.
Cover Zero, we went into a little of the NFL.
I'm not sure how much the Tennessee Tech game
we really talked about. It was a good show.
Yeah, I mean, it makes sense to talk about football and basketball, but I do think we have to start with Billy's suitcase because I do think that ultimately that's going to be the thing that people take away the most from this trip.
Billy, this was your first road trip.
First of all, 48 hours on the road with us, you've never gotten to go because of various reasons.
Mostly you're almost too valuable to leave because of all your studio ability.
Have you enjoyed it?
Let's start with that.
I have.
It has surpassed my expectations.
I've heard horror stories in the past from Shannon the dude, I think.
But that's just because Shannon is like, he just whines.
Like, Shannon, most people would love to be paid to drive around bed.
Yeah, they would love to sleep on a bed.
Yeah, but most people would love to drive around the coming.
People who work, this is the only part.
Shannon, I think, is very tuned into the common person.
I give him a lot of credit for that.
Maybe more so than most people on the show.
But the thing that Shannon always gets wrong is the complaint about these road trips.
Most people who have regular jobs would do anything to get paid to drive around the country and watch games.
Yeah.
Right.
But Shannon whines about it.
If we went a direct line, I would be perfectly happy with it.
It's not about a straight line.
Most people would be fine to go in circles.
This is the only time I think you really are disconnected with the average person.
But, Billy, you, I think, are appreciated a little bit more.
Yeah, absolutely.
You know, I'm stuck in that studio so long that it's nice to see and talk to you.
guys in person and at different events and things like that.
You know, it helps that it was only a one-day trip.
We're not driving to Seattle.
I think that was a big part of it.
But you splurged on the nice Airbnb.
It's a really nice Airbnb.
This is probably, Drew, if you're talking about where we've stayed, this is top-in, wouldn't
you think?
Yeah, and I know.
It's because we're spending the NFL's money.
Let's be real.
The NFL will spend more money than our.
That's just kind of how it is.
Big budget for a two-day trip compared to the normal eight.
And even, I know, yes.
To give me an example.
I get $5,000 for the $1,000.
for the week to go to Seattle and back.
We had $5,000 just to come to Buffalo for two days.
There's a little bit of a difference in budget.
And even though Billy is appreciative, I will say,
this being Billy's first,
that's no ordinary bunk bed up there.
That's like a king-sized bunk bed.
You did get the luxury trip.
Everybody got their own room.
That doesn't usually happen.
My first couple trips, they were nights that just wasn't a bed.
We just had to figure it out.
I just stand up.
Yeah.
But really, I think this trip,
surprisingly has been centered around you and your experience more than I would have thought.
I mean, this is Drew and I.
I thought we'd be us on the NFL, getting to work for the NFL.
This trip was made, Shannon, the day he got in the car in my house at my house ready to go,
and he brought out a veggie tray.
It was a surprise, Shannon, to everyone.
I know you guys are normally eating nerd gummy clusters,
and then he brings in the healthy part of it.
He brings in a veggie tray.
He brings in broccoli, celery, carrots, and from then on, it was just on.
It was a veggie.
The car smelled like broccoli, the rest of the trip, which is not a pleasant smell in a closed area.
And that was an interesting decision by you.
Well, look, I mean, I'm somebody that doesn't eat a ton of processed foods.
I want to keep you guys healthy.
That was processed vegetables.
Those were not.
Those were packing.
look, regardless, it's good to eat your vegetables.
You know, when you have a $20 a week paycheck, you've got to get those two-for-six vegetable trays.
And I am very surprised where you guys is reaction to the veggie tray.
I mean, that was something you guys ate all of.
All the carrots were gone very quickly.
So, I mean, I feel like you were talking about both sides of your mouth a little bit there this weekend.
It was not, no, no, no, no.
It was not that it was, first of all, it was considerate to bring anything.
Drew, he didn't have to bring anything, did he?
No, not all.
And he said it right there in the middle.
He said it in the middle.
Help yourselves?
It was one of these no good deeds go unpunished because the moment it happens, first of all, don't blame me.
They did it.
Mario and Drew, I did not tweet anything.
Okay, I tweeted.
Hand up, I tweeted.
I did not expect over 100 replies and 200,000 views and just turning into a full road.
I didn't do anything.
I was going to give you a hard time about it, but I didn't realize the public was going to have such a visceral reaction to it.
Yeah, they act like they don't ever eat broccoli or something.
I mean, I thought it was delightful.
First of all, you use words like delightful.
That's not a word that gets used a lot on this show.
Delightful.
Well, neither is the suitcase that I brought this week.
But really, the crowning achievement was the suitcase.
Billy brought, and if you listen to the post-game show, we get into more detail on it.
But it was a hard-shell plastic case suitcase.
I thought when Bill Clinton became president, they took all of those out of commission.
I thought they basically just said, okay, this was a good era.
It's like the penny.
It just went extinct.
It was like the penny.
That's exactly right.
They were like, okay, it's had a good run.
We're moving on.
But Billy brought it back, the hardcore plastic suitcase.
As one person said, it's historic.
It survived the sinking of the Titanic.
I mean, it was from a different generation.
That, I think, is what really set the Internet on fire.
Was your orange, interesting color too, orange hard plastic suitcase.
Well, there's not a lot of wear and tear on it either, so you know that thing is going to be around much longer than we are.
It works well, got all my clothes in it.
Probably has some sort of carcinogen that will give you a disease.
Easy access if I want to put my cigarettes in there.
It's practical.
It worked.
And the internet just took off with it.
I mean, the picture of Billy with his orange suitcase will be the thing that lives the longest on this trip.
And then Mario didn't do him any favors when he put the old man.
They're like doing the exact same post.
I don't know how you found that photo, but it's like it was Billy 50 years ago.
Yeah, Photoshop Mario in the car in minutes after this was done, comparing me to the 1920s man.
I like, you know, I'm big on in KSR the robberies.
And, you know, there's been a big Billy Shannon robbery over the years.
There's sort of an alpha of the pre-show rivalry.
You both kind of talk trash about the other one when they're not there.
But you still like each other.
But there's a new emerging Billy Mario rivalry.
I think Billy does not like that Mario, I think he thinks Mario takes, gives him,
I think he understands you and I are going to give him a hard time.
But he doesn't like when Mario does things like that.
There's a pecking order.
I think Billy thinks there's a pecking order.
He and Shannon are kind of fighting for spot.
4.
I'm not funny for any.
When Mario ever jumps to spot
four, that really makes Billy mad.
And I think this was an example of
that. Mario McRib?
See, again, he tries to shift it.
He tries to shift it over onto Mario.
And I like that. I like watching that.
Well, last night, the three of us
stayed up pretty late playing pool, and we
might have enjoyed a couple beers.
And they're trash talking started getting intense.
And at one point, I'm standing, leaning
on the kitchen counter, and I put my stick out and
separated them. I was like, you on this side, you on that
Shaded, it's fun to watch these two.
These two have some heat, Billy and Mario.
It has been brewing, I feel like, for a while.
It has been brewing.
It has been brewing.
There is definitely a Billy Mario.
But I will love each other, but there's a lot of back and forth at the pool table.
I'm going to say this, Billy.
I think your overall sort of on the KSR pecking order, like, approval rating.
I think it's been improved this weekend.
I think the general fan has.
grown some affinity for you this week. They always saw you as that kind of hardcore, always
mad, hanging up on Heather. You know, that one, that would set you back a little bit. This has been
the equivalent for you of the Theo Vaughn interview for Trump, right? Like, this is helping your
approval rating a little bit. And I think, uh, I think you should be happy about this. The plastic
suitcase and the veggie tray. I think especially women are like, they kind of feel bad for you.
And I think that's helping.
Okay.
Do you agree?
I do.
And I think if it was just the suitcase or just the broccoli, we'd keep making fun of it.
But he's now packaged.
I think it was the combination.
But then you also, I mean, pile on a little bit here, but he was very dressed up for the game.
Okay, so let's talk about the dress-up thing.
That's another thing.
I think everything was complimentary with Billy.
Let me just say, Billy, the veggie tray and the plastic suitcase, I think were reasonable ways to make fun of you.
I do think you got a raw deal on the dressing for the bills.
So, Shannon, he dressed.
really well, actually.
Whereas me and Drew and Mario had on
hoodies, kind of our regular look,
Billy had on a pea coat.
I complimented that for a left.
He had on a peacoat.
He had on a quarter zip.
He had nice pants and dress shoes.
I thought he looked really good.
And you know, I'll give Billy a hard time over anything.
But I genuinely thought he looked really good.
He looked like a guy who was dressing for the job he wants.
Not necessarily the job he has.
What's he want?
The GM job for Bill?
Well, I think he's like to be, I mean, you tell me wrong, you'd love to be like an NFL reporter.
Like Jeff Darlington was there.
You started geeking out a little bit.
You'd like to be Jeff Darlington.
Is that fair?
No, hold on.
I got the Tampa beat, I don't even know his name, but Billy Beeline and talked to him.
What's his name?
Rick Stroud.
Yeah, you kind of, you were geeking out a little bit.
The way Mario did with Kevin Harlan at the NCAA tournament, you kind of were like that with these NFL reporters.
Well, look, I was in my element.
I mean, I got Darlington's number.
He's ready to do.
I don't think it's a little bit.
Yeah, I think you want it to be your help.
Well, yeah, like you said, you dress for the job you want off the one that you have.
My shoes took way too many shots online.
So we post the picture of all of us.
And I think objectively you look better than all of us.
I think you look the most professional of all of us yet people just went at you, specifically your shoes.
Because one person said you look like their Dick Van Dyke's shoes, which Shannon is a funny lie.
Yeah.
be great. He said he looked like
Dick Van Dyke.
Who you didn't even know who that was. I didn't know who it was,
but I knew. I could feel it through the
tweet that it was not compliment.
Felt the tone.
Look at Billy's pants. He's even got like
slacks on.
You ironed those. They're ironed.
They have a pleat.
I mean, they're very nice.
So I just want to say, I feel like
making fun of you for the outfit,
I think, isn't fair. Because I actually
think you've dressed really well for the
But the combination of the plastic suitcase and the veggies and then the Dick Van Dyke's shoes, it's just been a whole personality.
So let me go back for a second.
You think my approval rating has gone up because people feel bad for me?
I do.
I do, genuinely.
I think there is a sympathy.
But I think that's good because I think you had no sympathy.
It's a charm.
Because everyone that's involved with his show has had vulnerability.
Okay.
Like I've had health issues, right?
I've been fired.
Ryan has had his issues.
in his personal life.
Drew lost a friend recently.
You know, Shannon lost,
which was your grandmother's name?
Nanny.
Yeah.
Nanny.
So we've all had these issues
where we've shown vulnerability.
You've really never had that.
Like when you're on the air,
you're always being mean to somebody.
You hate kids, you know.
So I think this was the first time
people got to see a softer side of Billy.
And what did you guys think?
I mean, you spent time off the air with it.
I like you.
I find you,
I think the role you have taken
in this whole cover zero
the new in it's the news
I think it's a good role for you
don't you yeah and to the thing about him
wanting the job we were we the first three people to check in
I mean we were there very early in the press we were
yeah you all were there and then like he's already networking
as people walking in like that Tampa guy
even just the media people working at the bill
Billy was was clocked in to take advantage of this opportunity
to make the most of it I think first of all you've done a great job
with all these extra gigs
but I think you have now found a role
and I think it's going to be plastic suitcase dig band
likes you guy.
Well, now the internet's doing more of them.
Come on at Kev Miller 7.
They've got you working as a train porter.
That one's just going to stick, Billy.
I think it's just going to stick.
I think you're just going to have to let it go.
We got your back on the outfit.
I even compliment you before we left the house.
I thought you looked good on the outfit.
I mean, Mario didn't pack a coat
when we were tailgating in 30-degree weather.
That's true.
and he gets a zero criticism online for anything.
See, now there's the rivalry again.
I'll have to put the cue stick between you all.
I'm going to go get it.
There's the rivalry.
772, 774, 5254.
We will talk about the games.
And if you have comments, I'm going to read all the funny ones because there were some good ones on the post game show.
We'll be right back.

On hurdle with Emily Abadi,
we sit down with the most inspiring women

and the mindset that keeps them going.
From the WNBA standout Kate Martin and rising hockey star Layla Edwards.
If a boy can do it, I don't see why a girl can't.
Like, I've never understood that.
Like, it didn't make sense in my brain.
It's hard to be in spaces that no one looks like you, but don't ever feel like you don't
feel like you don't feel like.
Don't let that be the reason you don't do it.
An Olympic champs Gabby Thomas and Katie Ladeke.

back it is Kentucky Sports Radio.

By the way, the couple of you writing say,
why don't you get to the games?
This obviously, this may not be the show for you.
I'm just going to tell you, we're on the road.
If you've never been a part of KSR Road Trip shows,
this is what's going to be on our way to St. John's here in a few weeks.
Like, that's just what it is.
One person writes, Matt, Billy, dressed and took a suitcase
as if he wanted to work for Don Draper at the Mad Men advertising.
If I'm known for being well-dressed, eating vegetables, and taking my job seriously, I'll...
Yeah, exactly.
What's there to be, what's there to be embarrassed about?
Right.
Now, the style could get a little better.
I actually think your style was your best part of your...
I like that.
Somebody put our pictures up with what social media was.
He was...
Mario was TikTok, through his Twitter.
I was Facebook.
I don't feel like that's fair.
and you were linked in, which I think that's probably true.
All right, so let's talk a little bit about, we will talk about a couple of the sporting events.
Let's talk about basketball.
Kentucky runs over Eastern Illinois.
It was like 12 to 2 right off to start.
Never a game.
Good to see them play well.
Good to see them score easily to start the game, play defense.
I mean, I don't know how much you get out of Eastern Illinois, but they did exactly what you would want them to do, right?
Yeah, yeah.
I mean, it doesn't erase the Louisville game,
but you needed to go out and pummel somebody to just get back on track.
That's what they did.
Diabate had a huge game.
He was doubling.
It had like 20 and 11 or 12.
Just all around great performance.
As you, you know, with that cloud of low still hovering around,
it's good to see them go out and play a game.
You just wanted to get out there and see them hit their peak,
see Aberdeen run the point.
To me, there was nothing to complain about,
which is why I think so many people focused on Pope's post-game comments.
You know, do you feel like the U of L?
I mean, part of this is, I know when we say, will things stick?
Part of it depends on what we keep talking about it.
So I understand that, like, it's a little bit hard to say, well, it will or it won't stick
because we actually probably control some of that, unfortunately.
But, you know, we still don't know what happened after the U of L locker.
And then Pope comes out, he makes some weird Taylor Swift reference,
which I didn't really understand about, you know, we're going to keep people guessing.
And then when he got on the radio, he addressed a little bit more.
He said that the way they do things is they get people worked up,
they get their game ready by flipping the switch and turning on the energy.
And he said maybe we flipped it too early an hour and a half early.
I still don't really know what that means,
and I still don't really think it answers the question.
But what do you think?
His three press conferences, counting like radio at Rupp and then the two press conferences since Louisville,
I think I've been very weird.
I've even texted friends like, well, that was.
was weird.
Yeah.
I think it's obvious this point.
He didn't have them ready.
I mean, we knew that when we watched the game, but now he's even admitting that they
just, they weren't ready for a rivalry game.
But I just think it's so weird that he's, like, teasing this story.
He even said something to the crowd and rup.
Like, I might do this from time to time, throw something out there and let you all
speculate.
Like, no, you can't do that.
Don't do that.
That's a bad idea.
Especially in a week you just got whipped by Louisville.
Yeah.
Like, people want some answers and have some concerns about the truth.
Yeah, I mean, I think any time you're screwing around.
with the fan base, you're making a mistake.
Unless it's like, like if you beat Louisville and you want to screw around with them,
that's fine.
But when you lose to Louisville, I just think that's a mistake.
I mean, everyone I've talked with, that's what they want to know.
What happened in the locker room?
What happened in the locker room?
And I think you're going to keep getting that.
And if you were to lose tomorrow night to Michigan State,
then the what happened in the locker room is going to be like,
did it ruin the season in the locker room?
And he said it's not as big a deal as everybody acts like,
which I'm sure is true, but that's why you don't do this,
because people are going to speculate and think it's probably worse than it is.
Yeah, even though I don't know anything, I'm convinced that if we ever found out,
we'd be like, that's it.
You did all that, and that's what it was.
So the comments.
Well, I think fans are fair and worrying because we still talk about team turmoil 20 years later
and problems with that Oscar team.
We don't want a team that we love to have problems on November 11th.
You know, and the tough part is like now, I mean, we're here,
so much stuff and even
me like I don't totally know what to believe
I mean there are there are now
like six different stories floating
out there and that's the problem
and I don't know which one
I mean I know the couple that I think
like I've heard some ridiculous
ones like I do not believe that there
was a religious argument in the argument
before like that one is online
that the players got into a fight about
religion before the game
how in the world and it seems like
that one is what people believe online
How could they believe that?
You really think there was an argument about God in the locker room before the game?
At the Louisville game?
At the Louisville? Like, that's when they decided to do it.
By the way, we're about to walk out there.
Which book of the Bible do you think is that?
That couldn't have.
That's not.
That couldn't have.
No, I don't even know how that would got legs to be given.
I do think one that I think is that maybe, and I wish you would just say this,
there is some talk out there that Mark Pope was uncharacteristically.
in the locker room and it threw the guys off.
Maybe taking it almost so seriously that people were like,
yo, dude, who's this guy?
And that one is starting to pick up some steam,
and that's one I think could be right.
It would make, because it would explain everything else.
It would explain why Jalen Lowe and those guys were getting into it with the fans.
You know, it would explain a lot.
And it kind of hinted at he took the blank.
himself. Remember he was like, I did this too quickly. That, to me, of all the explanations,
is the one that actually makes the most sense to me. Yeah, he's coached a lot of games here in that
one season already, but that was his first. I'm going into Louisville, road rivalry game. It's the
third game of the year. The way I'm just taking everything in and running through my filter,
it seems that he did just not have them ready for the situation at all. Maybe called out some guys
that were like, why are you calling me out? That to me, Billy, seems like that makes some sense.
Now, what do you think is more likely now that it's addressed by Pope or it's never talked about again by him?
Well, I mean, I think he could probably get away with the never talking about it if we beat Michigan State and we go on a run.
But if we start losing, he's going to be talking about it all year.
People are going to worry about it.
People are going to worry about like, you know, if we beat Michigan State and then we beat Carolina or whatever, then yeah, he can probably not talk about it.
But if we start losing, he's not going to be able to not talk about it.
We'll talk about it forever.
So we'll see.
I think it was a bad mistake.
We'll take a break, do some football.
T.J. Smith, personal injury attorney.
Call T.J. He'll make them pay.
Now, more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage.
Here's Matt Jones.
This song would be better for this if it was a plastic bag, but still a good pick, Shannon.
I appreciate it.
One person writes, Matt, I'm actually, Billy's my favorite now because he doesn't care what other people think.
That's not true.
You're having to get used to getting these comments.
Like, Drew and I, we've, we've,
We've gotten these for 20 years, but you haven't gotten the sort of hard takes like you have this one.
You're having to get used to it in real time.
Yes, but I can take it mentally now.
Like when I first started, I would read everything and take it personally.
Now I've, you know, you're doing this for content.
I can take it in the bigger scheme of things, bigger picture.
Yeah, it is hard.
Like, we forget that.
Like, people are mean, you know.
I mean, they are.
They're not, like, they're giving you a hard time on this.
But some people are like people can be mean.
You know, people have been mean to the girl Olivia who's done videos for us
because they just keep saying she's a Louisville fan, which she was.
Then she went to UK.
So now she's a Kentucky fan.
But like people are people and like she's like, people are like, she's like, why are people mean?
Like, 99% of our fans are great, but we have a percent of fans who are just mean.
And I don't know why they do that.
Now on this case, though, with the plastic suitcase, they should be mean.
well you just wait till I brussed out the charcutory board in the car later today
one person writes uh Billy looks like he's ready to jump out of the plane with D.B. Cooper.
Ooh, we checked the inside that bag cut it cut open the fabric.
Might be some stuff I do that.
Yeah, that might be one of those, uh, it is like, I don't know, vintage was the word that I
used.
It is vintage.
There's claps in there and like weird pockets.
Speaking of vintage, Micah Johnson.
Oh, yeah.
If I told you that Micah Johnson was.
still playing football, Shannon.
Would you have believed it?
No.
Well, he is.
He won his third Canadian Grey Cup this weekend.
37 years old.
He is a five-time all-cfL team, including this year.
He is the eighth oldest player that wasn't a kicker to play in the Canadian Football League,
and he won his third title.
Micah Johnson.
Who would have ever imagined Micah Johnson is still playing football?
And still, I mean, he was played in the 2007, 2005 music city bowl.
He was in high school when I was in high school because he played at Fort Campbell and our team's played.
He's got to be pushing right at 40.
I'm a little older and I'm 40.
He's just turned 30.
Yeah, okay, yeah.
I remember watching him at Fort Campbell.
That's crazy that he still playing.
So congrats to Mike Johnson.
I think he was playing in 2004 Mr. Footballish around there?
That's nuts.
That's probably about right.
Still cash and checks in Canada.
I mean, when I saw that, I was like, this has to be an old story.
But it wasn't.
He's still playing.
And not just cash and checks, winning championships.
And being all CFL.
He's going to be like a CFL.
He already is.
He'll be a legend.
By the way, Dick Van Dyke is alive and turns 100 years old next month.
Oh, thanks a lot.
You just kiss him.
Yeah, that's going to be the KSR curse.
Oh, man.
If Dick Van Dyke dies.
All right, Pete, Dick Van Dyke.
It'll be your fault.
No, no.
No, it'll be your fault, Billy.
Don't put that evil on me, Ricky Bobby.
If Dick Van Dyke passes away, it is on you.
No, no, no, no.
Yes, it's on you in that suitcase.
Football.
Destroyed Tennessee Tech.
Wasn't even a game.
Everybody was all worried all, 10 and 0.
They're going to come in.
Really was never close.
They had one good drive the entire game.
That was it.
Otherwise, Kentucky basically moved the ball whenever they wanted.
You had to like that performance.
He loved it.
Bowley would have three incompletions.
He's up there.
high 60s. I think he's fifth in the SEC
in completion percentage right now.
Kendrick Law with a huge game. I wish we could
get more Kendrick Law. Didn't do much
early in the year. They started getting the ball.
I think he's had like game highs the last three weeks
he had over 100 yards this time.
So it just could see in that offense role and the defense
just kept doing what it does. They were great.
I mean, they were great.
What did you think of the cutter bowling knocking the guy
down while he was running? Did you like that?
Loved it. Yeah. We haven't, I guess
Levis had that, but you don't see
that very often from your quarterback. Even
Stoops would like, I don't love that he did it, but after he did it, that brought a fire or side-line.
Probably don't want to do it against Tennessee Tech, but you still got to like it.
He juiced up the whole team.
Yeah, you don't want to drop the throwing shoulder shoulder shoulder
shoulder shoulder players take notice of something like that, and he is the future of Kentucky.
It's been a fun a few weeks with him.
It has been.
And I think, you know, if it ends up being the case that we have Mark Stoops as a coach again next year,
the reason there might be any excitement is him, right?
I mean, that's going to be a big part of it.
Yes, someone wake up the marketing department this spring and put him everywhere.
You have to fill seats.
You cannot be an SEC team and have a season without a sellout like they did this year with those teams that came in.
You have to sell tickets, and he's your key to selling tickets.
I mean, we'll have this talk if he ends up coming back.
But they've got to re, like, everything they did this offseason to market the team, they've got to do the opposite.
Because they did a horrible job this year, just an absolutely horrible job.
Now, if they get a second chance at it, and I still don't know that that's going to happen,
although I think now he's not going to get, you know, we've said that five and seven was
purgatory.
I still think it's purgatory for the fan base.
I don't think he gets fired at five and seven, but I also don't think you can just run
everything back the same at five and seven.
So like it's, you know, it's kind of, it's a purgatory.
But if they bring him back, they've got to change.
And you're right.
they've got to change the way they do everything,
and cutter bully will have to be the center of it.
He just will, because he is exciting.
He's exciting to me.
I mean, just the kid is so energetic,
and he doesn't make, he makes very few bad decisions, you know.
I mean, he'll make one or two here and there,
but in general, I just, I really like him a lot.
Teammates seem to love him.
Yeah, I mean, they'll have to go all in on him as the face.
And he won't leave.
I'm confident now.
There are guys we're going to have to,
to use a phrase from the past
pony up to keep.
He'll be one of them, but they'll get him.
He'll be here next year.
I kind of think no matter what.
With where he finished his high school career
and those boosters around Lexington,
I think any offer he got would get matched
to keep him home. I mean, we know how big
they were in recruiting of everybody
keeping around within the NIL era.
And I don't think the
powers of Lexington would let that kid get out of the state.
So let's do a percentage game.
Percentage chance.
we beat either Vandy or Louisville or both,
but but but but since chance we get one of them and we go to a bowl game, Billy
40% 40% so less than 50% we win one correct okay Shannon I was going to go 40
I'll go slightly higher I'll say 45% 45 Drew I will say 31% but I'm still going
less than a third chance we win one of them?
I feel confident, but we're going to be more than a touchdown underdog at both probably.
On the road, that's still a big task.
But you have already upset Auburn as an underdog and Florida as an underdog.
I'm feeling good about the Louisville game specifically.
Why, you can't be feeling that good if you think there's two out of three chances that we lose?
Because it's a motivation thing.
I've not watched one second of Louisville football this year.
All I know is Miller Moss looks like he's ready to quit the team.
So I'm watching them go the wrong direction while we're sitting here talking about our
quarterback and all the juice he has. So when we get that
Louisville game, I think it'll be a big question of
which side wants it, and what I've seen in Louisville lately
there in Shambles. I don't, all of you
I'm really shocked at Shannon's number.
Why? Because Shannon, you've been the most
positive guy about this team all year.
For me, this number,
if you're talking when one of the two,
I'm putting it at 60.
We're going to win one of these.
I mean, look, that's still a 40% chance we don't.
But you're just telling me win one of them?
I mean, I think we have a shot to win them,
I would put it all on the Louisville game.
Yeah, but I don't, I mean, I know you're a Vandy guy, but like we're a touchdown underdog.
I mean, we've been more of an, we were more of an underdog to Florida at home.
I mean, like, if you play this game three weeks ago, we're a 17-point underdog to Vandy.
It's come down to seven.
I think you just asked me we're going to win one of these two games.
I will tell you this, if the team that played against Florida plays against Vandy and
Louisville, we'll win one of them.
Now, if it's the team that played against South Carolina, we'll lose.
But with Vandy, I worry about all the injuries on the defense.
We're pretty beat up.
We are.
I'm not surrendering to Vandy by any means, but of the two, I feel much better about Louisville.
Yeah.
Well, I think Vandy, I don't want to say Vandy's a paper tiger.
I don't believe that.
I think they're good.
But Auburn almost beat them.
You know, I don't, I don't know.
I'm surprised.
I thought, to be quite frank with you, I thought, I thought,
all your number is going to be over 50.
I can't believe I'm the only one that was over 50.
I'm playing the little odd.
They're going to be more than a touchdown underdog both on the road.
I'm just kind of the math in my head.
But I think if you did the math, though, of those, it would still be, it might not be 50,
but if you say, well, if you're a touchdown underdog to both, what are the changes you win one,
it's probably still probably what Billy said.
It's probably 40 if you did that math.
I definitely think the Louisville game is more getable, and there's going to be a lot of motivation
to beat Vince Merrow in his first year at Louisville.
But, you know, if they were to lose.
What about Louisville's loss, by the way?
Yeah, that's what I'm talking about.
That press conference was wild.
I mean, Miller Moss blamed everyone in U of L world
blames him, and he blames everybody else.
And to throw the locker room out like that in a press conference in front of all the cameras.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Who do they have this week?
I would like them to further spiral like that.
Yeah.
They could be in bad shape.
But if they lose, like if Kentucky were to lose these last two games, I think how will they
lose to Louisville would be really important.
No, I think with both of them, if they lose, they can't get,
embarrassed in either of these games.
That's the only way.
I mean, I don't think the fan base is going to be like,
woo-woo, regardless if we lose them both.
But if we were to get embarrassed by one of them,
then you're in a really tough spot.
Especially the governor's game.
But there is at least hope in these last two games,
which three weeks ago people would not have thought that was true, right?
Oh, there are people on Twitter, like, I apologize.
I was wrong, deleting my account.
Some of the people that were being the most vicious,
It's kind of got a lot of fans confused.
They had already checked out completely, and it's like, wow, this has been kind of fun in the last few weeks.
The catalyst was, get your money up, Garrett.
That would be amazing.
If they do win one of these games, I mean, Calzada will have a completely different legacy at this school.
It's kind of an amazing thing.

New York Post put out a story yesterday saying as Dick Van Dyke approaches 100 worries about his hell.
Oh, no.
I'm really worried now.
That's not on me.
That really got brought up on Saturday.
Yeah, this is not on.
me. It's the internet commenter. Oh, no. I think it's on you, Billy. It wasn't the internet
commenter. It was when you look like him. God forbid. Somebody wears dress shoes to an NFL
event. And murders Dick Van Dyke. It's a job. I hope you're proud of yourself. See, there's the
rivalries. I love the rivalries between these three. They didn't used to happen. Like, we didn't
have, there wasn't a Drew Ryan robbery. No. No. It's only this new generation, although Shannon was
here before both of you, but that's okay. No, I love Mario. And I just would like to
where you got his pants, man.
Yeah, there are people crushing your shoes, too, Mario,
saying you look like they look like you were about to go frog gigging.
They weren't kind of like work boots.
But, you know, you guys, I wouldn't say anybody.
Tonight on ABC is Monday night football, but somebody just sent me a schedule.
And I won't know, I haven't watched network TV in a long time.
I don't watch a lot of network TV.
I mean, when I was a kid, I could have.
have told you what was on every night of the week on ABC, CBS, Fox, NBC.
Like, I could have literally told you their schedules every night of the week.
Now, I don't.
So let me just read you what's on besides Monday Night Football and see if you know these shows.
CBS, the neighborhood.
Never heard of it.
DMV.
That's a show.
Heard of it.
It's a show.
Starring Tim Meadows.
Yeah.
Oh, good for Tim.
I hadn't heard from him in a while.
No.
FBI.
Are these just government agencies?
Pretty general.
Watson.
All right.
There's your CBS lineup.
Wow.
And we have none of us.
You said, Chen, you heard any of those?
FBI and DMV.
I have heard of those too.
Okay.
Well, I hadn't heard of any of them.
Yeah.
The neighborhood stars, that's the dude from New Girl.
I don't know who the rest of these guys are.
All right.
Now, let's go to, let's go to NBC.
St. Dennis Medical.
Never heard of it.
Never heard of it.
The paper.
Now that's the one from the office.
I watched the first two episodes of that on Peacock.
I actually think it's pretty good.
However, I go to the Peacock app.
I don't consider that network TV.
But the paper's pretty good.
I like that.
I've seen a lot of commercials.
Never seen it.
The voice.
I've heard of the voice.
I don't know that I've ever seen it.
I've heard of the voice.
Do you know who the music acts are on the voice right now?
Is it the Maroon 5 singer still?
Yes.
Adam Levine.
Reba McIntyre.
Snoop Dog.
But he doesn't sing.
Why is he on the voice?
So he's a judge?
Yeah.
Entertainment.
That's why he's on there.
And finally brilliant minds.
That's old, right?
All right, how about this?
On Fox, didn't know either of these shows were on the air.
Celebrity, name that tune.
Oh, I never heard of it.
It stars Randy Jackson.
That's a no for me, dog.
And the woman, the blonde woman from 30 Rock.
Okay.
Jane, something.
And then Celebrity, Weakest Link.
Weekest Link still around?
You're the weakest link, goodbye.
But it's not that's not in Star Her.
This looks to be, is that the woman from, what was that show?
What's she from?
I've seen her before.
Her name's like, I keep wanting to call everybody Jane.
Is it Jane Lynch?
Yeah, that is.
That's the Jane I was thinking of when you said the other Jane.
No, I'm thinking about the other Jane from 30 Rock that plays the Ditsy Blonde.
I think she's also named Jane.
I'm not sure.
Jane Lynch is her name.
Jane Lynch, that's her.
Yeah.
Anyway, point being, network TV.
That's not quite
Seinfeld, you know, cheers,
Seinfeld friends.
Like, it's not quite the same lineup.
Hey, I'm surprised I got one.
I never, ever even look at those channels.
Yeah, me either.
Part of it, you got the TV guide back in the day
and you could see the whole lineup.
Did you subscribe to TV guy?
I remember TV guys.
I love TV guy when I was a kid.
I really want, like I thought my parents didn't have TV guides, so I would sneak and look at it in the grocery store line.
I was more of the TV guide channel.
Like a badass.
Mad, at the Piggly Wiggly, when my grandfather would go shop, I would read Mad Magazine and cracked.
And then I would look at the TV guide.
That's the, a lot of kids were committing crimes.
That's what I was doing.
That explains a lot.
That explains a lot.
the volleyball team won their ninth consecutive SEC championship.
It's insane.
Insane.
Especially now that Texas is in the league.
Ninth consecutive, they're going to end up host, probably hosting.
So they've never had an SEC volleyball tournament.
The first one is next week.
We've never had one before.
So it's in Savannah, Georgia.
So we've got to get through that.
But assuming that goes well, they're probably going to host through the final four.
which that'll be a big thing for Lexington.
But how about the UK volleyball?
Crazy.
And not just so they've won the league.
They went 15 and 0.
And they've been getting big turnouts even before this upcoming postseason that they're going to host.
I went to that Tennessee game.
I know they went out of the way to market that when.
It was a sellout.
But even at the,
they went head to head with basketball recently.
We had people in the bar wearing volleyball t-shirts.
They went to the volleyball game.
Yeah.
So they've been getting great crowds over there,
and the team has not let them down.
So it's exciting.
I mean, they got a shot at a national championship.
I mean, they basically played all the contenders.
They beat Penn State on the road.
They did lose to Nebraska in Nashville, but they were up two sets to none in that game,
and they ended up losing, but that's the one seed.
Right now we would be the number two overall seed.
And their other loss was like Pitt.
Who was like four or five or something.
So like we played all the good team.
Yeah, happy for Craig Skinner.
The first SEC tournament shows the growth of the game that we've seen.
seen that they've been, you know, championing in a lot. So I'm excited for it and we should have
some watch parties at the bar for them. No, we will. We're definitely going to do that. One person writes,
who's Shannon rooting for Saturday, Vandy or Kentucky? It's a great question for you. Well, you know,
Vandy's got an outside chance of possibly making it. It's an outside, but a shot. Yeah.
And I mean, I never thought we would even have that conversation in my lifetime. So I feel like I
I got a pull for Vaney. But I feel like if Kentucky beats Louisville, you know, Mark Stoops is
in still a great situation.
He still keeps his job.
So that's a lot of words to say you're pulling for a little bandy.
Yeah, that's what I said.
Oh, wow.
What are you going to do about it?
I don't know.
On my Matt Jones personal rankings, you may be dropping with the,
Billy's had a big weekend.
I mean, Billy's had a big weekend.
Likeability scale just up and down right now.
Yeah, it is.
Actually, you know, Shannon has been high.
And they're like, maybe you've passed Shannon.
with the general. Oh, I passed him a long time ago. That's great.
This is me caring. This is my caring voice right now.
I'm so hurt.
Hour number two. Hopefully, luckily there's some distance between these two.

funnier. This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidel, help an
Acapella band with their between songs banter.
Where does your group perform?
We do some retirement homes.
Those people are starving for banter.

Last night, a blown call changed a game.
This morning, the internet lost its mind.
And nobody's telling you exactly what happened.
That's where Sports Slice comes in.
I'm Timbo.
In every episode, we're cutting through the noise, breaking down the biggest moments in sports
and giving you the real story behind the headline.
And we're going straight to the source, the athletes themselves.
Their locker room stories, their reactions in the moment,
and the stuff nobody gets to hear.

Life is full of hurdles.
So how do you keep going?
On Hurtle with Emily Abadi,
we're talking with the most inspiring women in sports and wellness
from professional athletes,
coaches and Olympic champions about the challenges that shape them and the mindset that keeps them
moving forward. At our level, at this scale, being able to fail in the front of the entire world,
like, I can do anything. I can do anything. Listen to Hurtle with Emily Abadi on the IHeart Radio app,
Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Presented by Capital One, founding partner of
IHart Women's Sports. I'm Michelle McPhee, and I've been unraveling the strangest criminal alliance
I've ever reported on, a Mormon polygamist and an Armenian businessman.
Multimillion dollar house, Ferraris and Lamborghinis, private jets, a billion dollar fraud.
But how long can this alliance last?
Tell me what you know.
Is somebody coming after me?
