Another podcast from some SNL late-night comedy guy, not quite.
Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and Friends.
Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier.
This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidel
help an a cappella band with their between songs banter.
Where does your group perform?
We do some retirement homes.
Those people are starving for banter.

presented by Stockton Mortgage.
Now here's Matt Jones.
Welcome back. Hour number two, Kentucky Sports Radio,
859-280-2287.
One person writes on the text machine,
Ryan said he was going to open his eyes
and listen to Mark Pope today.
I caught that too. I wasn't going to say anything.
That's a good mixing of analogies.
But I mean, you do, in theory,
have to open your eyes so you can see.
while you're listening.
I mean, you could close them.
You want to open your eyes and see his body language,
but then you want to listen to what he's saying.
Oh, so that's what you meant.
That's what I meant to say.
Okay.
He comes out and he's hanging his head all mopee.
How am I going to see it if I don't open my eyes?
See, I didn't even think about that.
You know, I mean, there's a lot that goes into this brain
that we don't always process, Drew,
and so that was actually much more in-depth than we realized.
And he knows his senses.
What was it last week when he said that you have a fifth sense?
He said I had a fifth sense,
nice he gives me all of them all the sentences
uh
ks bar is open come on out tonight they're having uh what are they're having karaoke like is that
cams karaoke cams carioke cam comes out here he leads karaoke cam
now cams a character mario sent me a video at cams singing
cam gets down so if you want if you want to do kSr karaoke i'm i can't come tonight
but i'm going to come to the next one because i want to i want to sing with cam i want
Cam and I to sing islands in the stream.
I saw Cam singing too. I'll be Kenny.
He can be Dolly, and
we'll let it go. You need a
karaoke host who will, you step in there
and do a few ballots. If nobody's singing,
they got to get up and sing. Cam's got a mullet.
Cam's got a mullet. That's every good
karaoke singer's got a mullet.
One of my favorite memories of our Alaskan crews
are all us singing karaoke in one of those
ship bars that one night. That's right.
Have you seen the video of the kid at Liberty
who's from Ashland? What's his name?
Colin Porter.
he's awesome so there's a kid
might be nice to have that kid actually there's a kid at liberty
whose name's Colin Porter he's from Ashland Kentucky he can
shoot yep and I guess the other night they were playing
somebody and he had like a crazy game he had like
35 points did he really what does that sound
no what's going on what's happening what
so loud of you tell somebody tell him to calm down it's a little loud
for anyway Colin Porter what
who's Brett
I think that's the guy you're talking about from Elizabeth town.
There's a guy named Colin Porter from Ashley.
He's been there starting point guard.
He's a guy for Liberty lighting it up right now from Elizabeth town.
I thought that's who you're talking about.
I'm talking about Colin Porter because there's a video of him
and he, after the last game, or after some game he had a big game and he sang Morgan Wallen.
Have you seen this?
No, I haven't seen that video.
It's online.
He, like, has a good game.
Then they interview him and he just is like, what's the song?
And now I'm dodging.
potholes in my son.
Like he starts singing it.
He sings it in his post game.
No, he does.
Does he really?
Yeah, and not particularly well, but I still give him a lot of credit.
So Ashland looking good at Liberty.
Yeah, he was on that Ashland team that went undefeated through the regular season and got upset in the state final.
Well, no, maybe that's been the COVID year.
They didn't have the state finals.
They were undefeated.
He's been the starting point guards as a minute he walked on the court over there.
He's really good.
I was showing you, Decker from Elizabetown.
He just scored 29.
He's got 21-19.
and he's shooting like 67% from three.
For Liberty?
He won't be at Liberty long.
I thought you were bringing him up because Pope's going to him.
He can bring Colin Porter with him, but Decker has been a bucket for them,
and he's from nearby too.
All right.
Okay, a couple things here.
First of all, I knew you'd be excited, Ryan.
The Kelsey Brothers gave a shout out to Jared Lorenzen, Travis and Jason.
Somebody sent that to me at halftime of the Michigan State Kentucky game,
I needed to smile, made me smile from here to year.
That was kind of cool to see those two guys talking about Jared.
And they both were so, like, so nice.
Yes.
Right.
Like, they both acknowledged.
They played a clip of his highlights, and they got so excited,
including the famous throw behind his head, and they both went nuts.
You know, those dudes are, I mean, very, very famous.
And even though it's just a minute or two to give a shout out to Jared,
I think one of them said when they were growing up, he was like the most exciting player they could watch.
You know, they were at Cincinnati, so they weren't that far from him, obviously, from where he grew up.
That had to make the Lorenzen family.
That had to make them feel really good.
I hope his dad Joe saw it.
I hope Taden saw it his son, because that was kind of cool to see these two, maybe one of the most famous podcast going right now,
took time out to honor one of the guy that we loved so dearly.
Did you see what Taden did last week?
He had, what, five touchdowns?
He intercepted a hell Mary in the inside.
zone, but before he ran on the field, he told his teammate, I'm going to intercept this,
be ready for a lateral.
He runs it out of the end zone right before he gets tackled.
He pitches it to his teammate who takes it all the way down the sideline.
Wait a minute.
He said, I'm checking in to intercept his hellmerry.
Be ready for my lateral.
And then his team scored a touchdown?
I think he got tackled just shy of the goal line, but they went 90 yards, and he called
his shot.
He said, I'm checking in to intercept this.
Be ready for the lateral.
What's he doing next year?
He's still got another year.
Oh, he still got another year.
Yeah, and I think he's only got like one really good offer from like Miami of Ohio,
but Vince has been talking to him, so we can't let Vince steal him away.
I saw him at the Florida game in full UK gears, so he's still bleeding blue like he needs to say hello,
but that phone needs to start ringing for him.
What is happening back there?
Are we hosting a party?
Is there a party by the radio show back there?
I mean, people are, they're like, who is back there?
Workers, staff?
Can they just bring it down a notch?
Please.
We're working here.
Yeah, I mean, okay.
All right.
Secondly, I know you like these kind of random stories.
World Cup qualifying for soccer's going on.
Wow.
They've expanded the World Cup.
Okay.
So used to be 32.
Now there's 48 teams.
So some more teams are getting in.
Okay.
But would you like a couple of cool stories?
I do.
Scotland has not been in there in 30 years.
Scotland wins a game earlier this week to get to go.
Now, I've been with Scottish fans.
I was with them at the European Championships.
The most fun group of people on earth were Scottish soccer fans.
I still talk to a couple of them from Aberdeen.
They dance, they sing, they literally make songs up on the fly.
Like, they're awesome.
They make it.
The prime minister, whoever's in charge of Scotland, just says after the game,
No one has to go to work tomorrow.
I don't know if even has the authority to do that.
I don't know if you can just say no one has to go to work.
They end up all the bars.
They like change the rules so everybody can stay out.
They don't enforce it.
There are videos at five in the morning of people in Scotland running and singing.
I don't think there would have been a better place to be on Earth than Scotland on like Monday night.
I'm so excited.
I have a Scotland flag at home, a soccer or scarf, not a flag,
because two of my friends, Alan and Mick, love, or they're first.
from Scotland and love soccer.
I texted them as soon as it ended, so where are we meeting for the World Cup?
Yeah, wherever they play in America, I don't even care about the game.
I'm just going to go to be there.
I was there at the European Championship, but I was in two different cities where they were,
and it was the most fun thing I've done.
So whatever city they get assigned, you've got to go.
Then Haiti, Haiti has never been to the World Cup.
They made it.
and the videos and pictures of Haiti of people, you know, they've had a lot of devastation in Haiti, right?
They've had a lot of stuff.
They make it.
But then, this is maybe the most interesting.
The smallest country in the world to ever make the World Cup made it this week.
What is it?
Curacao.
Yeah.
Curisal has never made it.
They made it.
Now, that feels like a kind of place you've vacationed.
I've been to Curisale.
Where is it?
Down there by the AB by Aruba, ABC Islands, Aruba, then the B, I forget what it is, then Curacao.
What's the B?
Bermuda, Bahamas.
No.
I can't think what it is.
Elago, Montego.
But Curisal is beautiful.
It's beautiful down there.
So you've been there.
How many people live in Curisale?
I couldn't tell you.
But like, give me a get.
Like, are we talking?
Is it 100,000?
It's got to be tiny if it's the smallest one.
Is it, like, what's the size?
Shannon, will you look up how many people live in Curis?
Yeah, I'll look it up for you.
C-U-R-A-C-A-O?
Yep.
155,000, it looks like.
155,000.
So just think about it.
How many people live in Lexington?
Well, 250.
So, you know, actually use the surrounding area of Lexington.
It's like half the size of Lexington and they're playing in the World Cup.
That's kind of awesome, isn't it?
See, when you talk about the World Cup, I don't have any interest.
And tell you tell me stories like this.
is kind of cool. Every story you've said, Haiti, Scotland, and now Curisow.
So is that how you said, Curisal? That's how I say it, Curisow.
That doesn't mean that's right. That's very true.
So Ron has his team. We have ours. Maybe Scotland will play Curisow.
Oh, that would be great. Group B.
So I just thought all of those are cool stories about the world.
Very cool stories. I am pro team Curisal right now for sure.
All right. And then last thing, did you see our girl Jordan Hudson, what she did?
I've said this for a while. I'm pro Jordan Hudson.
Like everybody's mean to Jordan Hudson.
I'm kind of pro Jordan Hudson.
I think it's weird she does adult cheerleading, but whatever.
That's fine.
Did you see what she did yesterday?
What?
Pablo Torres' podcast got nominated for Best Podcasts of 2025.
Okay.
And remember, he's done like six episodes on her and Bill Belichette.
That's kind of how his podcast grew.
So he posts and says, really excited to be nominated for 2025 podcast of the year.
She retweets it and goes, you're welcome.
Nice.
That's a boss move, really.
I think that's kind of a boss move.
They've been coming after her.
He says, you're welcome.
I kind of think that's pretty good, don't you?
I have to admit, I'm now a regular listener to Pablo,
but the episode that put me on to Pablo was the Jordan Hudson episode,
so she's not wrong.
I don't know that I'd be listening now.
I listened this morning, by the way.
New episodes kind of can talk about.
Yeah, there's a new episode that we may talk about later,
because it's about us or it's about at least this place.
But to her point, I would not know about that podcast without that Jordan Hudson episode.
So I do like going, you're welcome.
Yeah.
If you're Jordan Hudson.
I think it's a boss move.
Good for her.
By the way, we found out it wasn't an adult cheerleading competition.
Belatet check went to, Shannon.
It was adult cheerleading practice.
Oh, does that make any difference?
I think it's worse.
Yeah.
It's not even the real thing.
Like if he went, well, no, no, not that they had it, but that he went.
he went to practice
you have to go to the competition to be supportive
you don't need to go to the practice
yeah there's a definite difference
you want to be the supportive boyfriend
go to watch the practices
the parents the parents
that take their kids
they sit there at the practice
that's the only person that goes to practice
are parents or the grandparent in this case
yeah there's some truth to that
to be honest with you you're not wrong
who's up next let's go to Jerry
Jerry go ahead Jerry
hey
Hey, Matt.
Today I wanted to pay tribute to the greatest UK fan I ever knew,
and that was my dad, and he passed away last Sunday.
And he's the one that gave him my love for UK sports,
started taking me all those UK football and basketball games in the 70s,
and sitting there watching the fireplace,
watching the games with the TV turned down,
and A. Wood up on the radio, and he loved all UK sports,
but his passion was for UK football.
and one of the last things I got to do with him last Saturday was
listen to the cats win
so I just wanted to pay tribute to my dad
and uh
Jerry that's I'm glad you and he'll be rooting for him on Saturday
I'm glad you got to do that how Jerry how old was he
he was 84
84 years old well listen man you know
uh you know we we love you and I'll be praying for you
and your family and uh God bless you man
okay thanks Matt
No problem.
You know, one of the things that's great about this fan, well, no, I mean, this is the thing.
The connection, the reason I love Kentucky sports is it connects people and it connects generations, right?
Everybody listening to this show likely has a version of that story.
Every single person, all of you have somebody who introduced you to this.
Unless you're a brand new fan, it's probably your parents or grandparents or uncle or whatever.
And I appreciate that.
I love it when it's somebody talking about their parents
or somebody talking about how they connect with their kids through this show or through UK.
You're right.
It kind of bonds us all together.
We're bonding that bridge.

Where are we tomorrow?
Parlor pizza.
A great spot.
I've been there.
Where is that?
Herdsburg Road.
O. Charleys used to be on Hairsburg Road.
I got a U.K. room, good food.
Where was the O. Charles?
Right by Chick-fil-A in front of Home Depot kind of.
So I've been told this parlor pizza might be the best pizza in Lexington.
Crutch actually told me that.
One of our managers, he said that he thinks the best pizza right now.
They weren't on the street is they have the best pizza in town.
It's a hot honey pepperoni pizza, and apparently it's awesome.
A few weeks ago, I was there for about six hours.
I think I ate everything on the menu.
You were there for six hours?
Yeah, we had quite the day.
It's a good time.
All right.
Parlor pizza.
Parlor pizza.
We will be there tomorrow, 10 to 12.
You can come and have these pizzas.
The hot honey, pepperoni, that sounds good.
That's allegedly the best in town.
All right, well, we're going to find out.
I'll be the judge of that tomorrow.
We'll take a break and be right back.
We'll be the right back.

soft football for a second.
Still feeling good about the Vandy game, Drew?
I've never felt good about the Vandy game,
and our injury report doesn't make me feel any better.
We had a lot of dudes out, and a lot of them are on defense and in the secondary.
But one thing giving me hope is that Diego Pavia seems to always be in Vegas or Miami.
I don't know how he's never in Nashville anymore,
but maybe we'll have the distraction factor here.
Vandy needs the win right to stay in the playoff.
What were they 14th in the rankings Tuesday?
So they're still trying to hang on to sneak into the playoffs.
So it is a big game for them.
It's their senior day.
But last time we went down there two years ago, we did win.
We snuck a win two years ago.
The road team has won four straight in this series.
So we have that going for us too.
I don't know.
I feel weirdly confident about it.
We're not going to have our usual pocket of like the same or close amount of fans,
but I kind of feel like we got a shot.
I think, I mean, Pavia, we have struggled with Pavia, obviously.
We've struggled with guys like him for a little while, but I'm still feeling like,
why not?
I mean, they're not, I don't think they are as good as people believe,
and I think they've, while they've won a couple, you know,
more games of Vandy normally wins, they also have had a couple games
that easily could have gone the other way.
It's the injury report that's really hurting me.
The defense is pretty depleted.
Alex Safari, he's questionable.
If he ends up playing, that's a huge difference maker.
But just at cornerback, they're down like three or four guys heading into that game.
So if Kentucky were a little healthier, I'd feel better.
But, I mean, they just got rocked with the availability report last night.
Yeah, it's who all's out?
You got what?
Love it.
Jordan Love it.
Sam Green, he's been great.
Jaden Smith.
Calliall Saunders, is he going to play?
He's on questionable.
He's another one.
Nichols is questionable.
Coach Waller's been out.
Addison's out.
It's like cornerback, cornerback, cornerback, cornerback,
on the injury report.
We had dudes out there against Tennessee Tech
that I had never heard of before
playing the secondary corner and safety the other than a game.
Jansen Dunn has been a backup who stepped in.
Now he's out. That was a little unexpected.
Yeah.
So the injury report is not working in our favor.
Otherwise, I'm with you.
I like that the momentum they've had lately.
Maybe Afari and some of these starters
that are still on the fence, we'll give it a go.
It would be nice if we were able to knock them out of the,
completely out of the
playoff. It would be nice if that was kind of the final
resting place for Vandy's
playoff dream. He needs to be humbled too.
I like him, but we need to bring him down a notch.
Especially how they came in, the Kroger last year, and just
whooped us. I mean, that was an awful cold game last year.
As a Vandy fan, are you feeling confident about it,
Shannon? I mean, I feel like this is a game that they could slip up and lose,
but knowing that the playoffs are, you know,
they're an outside team, right? They're probably not going to head to playoffs.
I think they could.
But they were a lot higher in the rankings that I would have thought.
I mean, they were 14th.
They beat Kentucky and Tennessee.
I mean, they're at least sitting there with a possibility.
I'll put it to you like this.
I'm much more worried about Tennessee next week for Vanderbilt than Kentucky.
But this is a game where Kentucky could come in and surprise some people, but I don't think it's going to happen.
What a shirt thing to say.
He's more worried about it.
I hope we win.
And then I'm going to have everybody text Shannon the dude and just say eat it.
That's what I hope happens.
Okay.
Would you be more worried about Vanderbilt or Tennessee?
I'm much more worried about you and you're losing this game and the mouth you have.
It sounds like he's overlooking Kentucky.
Is this a trap game?
Maybe so.
Are you looking ahead?
John Sumerall was going to apparently interview with Florida and then it leaked out and he canceled the interview and said he wasn't going to talk to Florida.
Florida people are kind of livid at each other for talking about it
and maybe ruining it.
Summerall also had an interesting comment.
He's projected to go the playoffs with Tulane, and he said, we're not even good.
He was like, if we're one of the 25 best teams, there must be some bad teams out there.
The playoffs started today, they're in.
They're in it right now.
But he doesn't think they're any good.
That's why I like him.
Get your team fired up.
Call your team average when they've had a great year, and they're in the playoff mix at Tulane.
That's what we need.
Is it?
Yes.
Okay.
I think he made the right move by canceling that talking to Florida since it came out.
He's still got to be focused on, I think, what he's got to task at hand?
What are these coaches going to do that may be in the playoff and that are considering going somewhere else?
Like, what are they going to do?
Like, what's something all going to do if they make the playoff?
Is that when you let your agent do all the talking for you?
Yeah, but he's going to have to like.
He's got to coach his team.
I mean, he's got to get a team, too.
He's got to coach a team.
And then if he wants to be a competitive for him next year, he's got to go get some players.
That's tough call.
That's a tough situation for them because he'll be, it'll be mid-December before he could even start that.
Well, some schools have outside collectives that could help.
They could be working on that for him.
I guess.
That seems really, really hard.
Who's next?
K-dog.
K-dog.
How are you K-Dog?
Good guys.
First time, long time.
Who I?
I've got a lineup that I would really love to see.
of Aberdeen, Chandler, Oway, Yellovich, and Moreno on the floor at the same time.
And then Cam Williams coming off the bench.
I think that would really open the lanes up for O'A and Chandler to get to the basket.
And you have a shooter at just about every spot or somebody that can at least can hit a three.
That would be the best shooting lineup they could put on the floor, probably.
And if you switched Cam Williams and Moreno or Cam Williams and Yovits, that would be the best shooting lineup.
Let me ask you about Noah.
Feels like we haven't talked about him at all.
I'll remind people that in the Purdue game, Noah started.
He started the first two games, starting against Georgetown, too, until you got hurt.
What do you make of just, I mean, I know he was hurt, but, like, I mean, you don't even realize he's on the court.
And that lob pass was not good.
No, it was not good.
That looked like a player that was scared.
And all summer long we heard how he could not miss.
He was the best shooter on the team and just lights out and practice.
I think he's just kind of slow getting back from his injury a little bit,
but I'm not to the point where I'm worried about Trent Noah yet.
Are you?
With the ankle injury, I'll give him a little more time.
But if this is what he's going to be, I'm worried, because they need a shooter
and they need a good four, which he'd be perfect for.
But he hasn't looked good, especially in the Michigan State game.
He did have the stretch where he came in against what was last try at Eastern Illinois.
He was two big threes right away.
If he is hitting threes like that, that helps the offense.
And he was a healthy, though, scratch against Louisville.
Like, could play, wanted to play, and didn't get in.
And we complimented how he trimmed down,
but Pope wanted to put on that 18 pounds of muscle.
I almost might have gone the wrong way.
It looks like he's almost too thin in there
because he got pushed around a little bit against Michigan State.
Yeah.
I worry about him in these athletic games.
I mean, like, SEC's all athletes.
So, I mean, he's going to have to, you know, he's going to have to be athletic enough to play in these games.
We'll see if he is.
So are you worried?
I don't know.
I feel like we could use his shooting if he makes them.
I mean, like, we need it.
So we'll see.
We'll take a break.
Be right back.
KSR.
T.J. Smith, personal injury attorney.
Call T.J.
He'll make them pay.
Now, more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage.
Here's Matt Jones.
I think this is my favorite song of my cousins.
Yeah, I find myself singing this sometimes.
And this is what Colin Porter is saying on the floor.
Yeah.
So I find myself sometimes going, every time I'm eating tacos.
I get the words wrong.
But I do.
Get by Silverado.
And he says Tennessee like I do.
Yeah, you guys do say it exactly like Tennessee.
You thought I was the only one.
You thought I was the only one that sounded like that.
So we drink bottom shelf.
Drew's now going to get the only one on the podcast.
Girl, you've never seen stars like the way.
Gavin Colton.
He is our answer.
How are you, Gavin?
We'll stop the singing and let you join us.
How's it going?
I do and all right, it's good to be back on.
You know, when you were on, who knew?
You were so popular.
People kept asking for you to come back.
Did you get good response to your first KSR appearance?
Yeah, I did. I was getting text from people whose numbers. I didn't even know how I didn't even have their numbers.
So that's always a good. That's always a good indicator.
Well, good. I'm glad. I watched the, because of you, I watched the men's soccer team play their game against Central Florida and they lost.
And then you texted me after and said that they had played very poorly. Why do you think that is?
you know unlike i think that
two thousand twenty two
two years fantastic for kentucky
you know they just like that little bit of maturity
somebody that is going to turn around and say
i'm going to go and take the sort of bull by the horns here
they're missing a local boy max miller
through some injuries at the moment
remains to be seen whether he's going to be back for this game
and he is the person really that has consistently done that for them in
tricky moments and without max on the field
it's you know i'm looking around every week seeing
who's going to step up and do that and they've got some players
I think can do that technically, but sometimes you just need somebody to do it a bit more emotionally for you out in the field, you know?
He's local. Where did he get? Where's he from? I don't know. Where is he from? Do you know where he's from, Max?
He's Lexington. I don't know what high school he went to, but he's a local kid and he's fantastic.
And I probably had the opportunity to go pro after his freshman year decided to stick around, wanted to go and win national championship.
That's kind of cool. Yeah, it's cool. I think this would be his last chance to go and do it.
All right.
Brian State.
He's a Brian Station kid.
Wow.
All right.
So they're in the first round of the NCAA tournament.
Explain to people because we don't, is it a, is it 64 teams?
What's the men's soccer tournament like?
There's a slightly fewer than that, I believe.
You know, it's 32.
I'm not all that certain.
Yeah.
So you've got some that are already throwing that by, which is typical.
You know, it looks like Vermont.
Vermont are just like.
being unbelievable this year. They're going to be the favorites to win this, but, you know,
just dealing with this one. But here, this is a match that hasn't happened, you know,
with St. Louis since the year 2000. And that was in the first round of an NCAA tournament
as well. And Kentucky, after a nil-0 tie went on to win a penalties.
So Kentucky and St. Louis, the game is, is it tonight? Is that when it is?
Yeah, it's going to be tonight, 8 o'clock Eastern.
8 o'clock Eastern, and where do I watch that?
Is that on, it looks like it's on the ESPN, on the ESPN plus.
Okay, so I have a question for you.
You mentioned the penalties.
You know, I have soccer questions sometimes.
Yes, you do.
Explain to me, Gavin.
I think that the worst system in sports is the penalty kicks in soccer to end games.
And people always say, well, what would be better?
What about my idea, which is you do like they do in hockey,
and every few minutes you take a guy off
and it becomes 11 on 11,
becomes 10 on 10, becomes 9 on 9.
Wouldn't that be a better approximation of the sport
rather than penalty kicks?
It would probably keep it a bit more dynamic
and a bit more suited to what happens.
But, you know, I think after you can only go on so long,
you know, I think that's some of the problem.
At least penalty kicks are, you know,
while they're cruel, they are final.
and you know,
Dr. Kentucky went into seven or eight there,
you know,
toward the end of the season.
And it's,
it's not a fun way to go.
You know,
the UK women lost to...
Yep.
We watched,
and we were watching it on our trip.
They lost on the penalty kicks.
It was brutal.
Yeah,
and it was abysmal.
And a horrible way to finish,
but it's a great way to win.
You know, if you've been on the winning side of penalty kicks,
it is quite a way to win.
Yeah, I think there's,
You know, I see that they're trying to change the game in lots of ways.
I think like in every sport, you know, soccer is one that they're constantly tinkering with it,
introducing new technology, new ideas.
So I won't be surprised if, you know, in the next few years we see something change there.
So I had a couple of people writing questions for you, Gavin.
One person writes, I want you to ask, Gavin, Ireland qualified for the World Cup playoffs.
They're not in the World Cup.
They have to win two more games to get to go to the World Cup.
Is he excited?
I'm beyond excited.
I'm already looking at flights home for March 26.
The game is going to be in Czechia, which, I'm getting confused in my geography.
You know, we could either play against, you know, Czech Republic or Slovakia.
And I'm like, well, I grew up calling this Czechoslovakia.
So I'm obviously not up on my geography.
But yeah, I'm over the moon for that.
We have a bit like Scotland, it's been quite a few years since we've been near a World Cup.
I remember it was 2002 with our last World Cup appearance.
You know, we're probably in line with in Scotland.
You're going to go back for it.
You're going to go back for the game.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah, absolutely.
That's very cool.
I'm just going to go back to it.
It's going to be in the check of public, but I'm just going to go home to be in a pub, enjoying it with the home crowd.
Oh, wow.
You're going to go all the way back to Ireland just to watch the game in a pub.
That's kind of awesome.
Yeah.
I don't see like I've got any choice supposed to do that.
I've already got friends looking at American trips.
and I wrote to, I'm on to congressmen and senators.
I've got some friends who are, you know, dealing with some visa issues over the years and getting into America.
I'm already writing some of those folks to see what we can do in case we go ahead and qualify.
Wow.
He's already tried to pull strings to give people into America to watch it.
I love it.
All right.
One person writes from one Irishman to another, I've lived in Lexington and can't really find the perfect food for me.
What would Gavin say are the best places for an Irishman in Lexington?
Well, I'll tell you, get yourself down to Fulcher, to Lisa Betts store right there next to McCarty's.
And it's, you know, I've got more or less everything I need in there.
She's got, you know, pre-packaged breakfast foods, all the kind of condiments and tasty things I want.
Coming up to Christmas, they get on Instagram and look up F-A-L-L-T-E, it's the Irish word for welcome.
and just look at the Christmas hall that they have coming in there.
She's got everything that I need to come home and, you know, cook whatever I want.
That was the place where we got the Wheatabix.
Yeah, it's been down there forever.
That was where the Wheatabix was.
That's exactly it.
So that's where I like to go out to get most of my stuff.
But as far as, dude, I don't look too far past Carson's.
And, you know, I hate to disagree, but I do think that Pearls is the best pizza in town.
Ooh, Pearls is good.
Pearl is good.
I'm a regular for bagels.
Yeah, but they're not bringing it.
us tomorrow, Carson. So we say it's parlor for this show right now. Gavin, thank you very much.
If we win, we'll talk to you a little later on, all right?
Sounds good. Father, take care. There you go. Gavin Colton helping the cats. They play St. Louis,
a little battle for Travis Ford's Soul with Indiana waiting. Could have a rivalry.
That's what I was trying to show you. Indiana's already waiting in the next round. Not to look ahead.
Got to get past St. Louis, but we could have a big robbery next. Yeah, that's exactly right.
8-59-2-80-2287.
I heard some bad news.
Baxter Avenue Theater.
Yeah.
Scuttlebutt on the street might be closing at the end of December.
Does that make you sad?
Well, I mean, to be honest with you, I never go,
but I hate to see old theaters, you know,
old buildings that have been around for so long,
just close like that.
So I know a lot of people that go to it.
That is my theater.
I've probably seen 100 to 150 movies in there,
and it's the only theater in Kentucky besides the Kentucky.
theater downtown that gets kind of artsy movies like it's the only theater that doesn't just play
you know smile face three or whatever like uh so i mean losing that place would be very hard on me i
can literally walk to now you're going to be sad face three i am going to be sad face three but
you know at mid city mall they're going to try to do something with it they've never been able to
since i've lived there they've never really been able to make something there it's a great location
got a huge parking lot.
I guess now they're going to do something with it.
Probably put in stupid apartments.
There is something cool when you go into one of those old theaters.
You sit down and they can take you back to your childhood or just something.
Well, they've remodeled it.
It's actually really nice now.
So it's kind of unfortunate that we're going to lose it.
So that's the way it goes.
859-280-2287.
Who's next?
Let's go to Ed.
Ed. Go ahead, Ed.
Yeah, Matt.
I was just wondering if that pressure this morning is going to be carried by anybody and I?
I couldn't understand what you said.
What did you say, Ed?
I was just wondering if that press conference this morning by Coach Hope will be live.
It is.
It'll be on if you go to the KSR YouTube.
We will have it there.
Thank you.
All right.
There you go.
See, we're just here answering questions left and right.
A lot of people interested in this press conference today.
I'm going to say a lot of people want to hear what he has to say today.
See if he's going to have some answers to what's going on with his team.
Yeah, well, I think I'm one of those people.
I want to hear what he has to say, too.
We're going to take a break, 859-280-2287.
We'll be right back.
KSR.

You want to hear delusion?
Can I give you delusion at its greatest form?
Let's hear it.
Stephen A. Smith.
Today on...
So Drake May was asked, what he...
thought about something Cam Newton said on first take.
And I guess Drake May, and you know, if you listen to Covers Zero, I'm not the biggest
Drake May guy in the world.
But Drake May was like, oh, I didn't know he was on that show.
I didn't know.
I didn't know anything about it.
Stephen A. Smith goes, Drake May is a liar.
First take is the number one morning show.
Don't tell me you an athlete and you don't know that.
Don't tell me you an athlete and you don't know Cam Newton on his on this.
show you're lying.
Little delusions
of grandeur there. A little inflated
sense of self-importance right there. I mean, come
I would hope Drake May
at 10 o'clock in the morning has more
to do than watch First Take, right?
Yeah, I assume he knows First Take exists, but if he doesn't know
who's on it, or that's fine.
I mean, I have to be honest with you, would you have known
Cam Newton? I was about to say, I told you
yesterday when Stephen A. was on TV. I haven't
watched any of those shows in like
three or four years.
those ESPN talk shows.
I do not either.
The only reason I know is because it's on in here.
And we can't hear what they're saying.
We see the video of you.
That's the only way I've ever seen.
To be quite frank with you, if it wasn't on in here during our show,
I would never know.
I don't think I would know that Cam Newton was on it.
I would not know.
I'm almost certain I wouldn't know if it wasn't.
But it's on while we're in here sometimes.
You're always working for home with the website.
That used to just be turn on ESPN.
That's my background noise.
I haven't bothered doing that in years.
Yeah.
By the way, I'm taping.
I still say taping.
The kids make fun of me for saying taping.
Mario one time even asked me, why do you say taping?
What does that mean?
But it is taping.
I know they use the phrase recording.
Yeah.
Well, you're not using tape.
Used to.
Okay.
So I'm recording my interrupted podcast at 1 o'clock.
Viewer, listener questions, and there's been a lot of good ones.
I'll say you already got a bunch in.
Oh, there were a ton of them that came in both from this show.
Non-sports questions, right?
It's what you're looking for?
Yes, and there was a lot of good ones.
So I'm going to answer those today with Billy.

Who's up next, Shannon?
Let's go to Jojo.
Jojo.
By the way, before Jojo goes, one person writes, Matt, I want to know right now, what's
he saying right now, we've got to do it.
Is Mark Stoops the coach at Kentucky next year?
Yes or no from all of you?
Drew.
Yes.
Ryan?
Yes.
Shannon.
Yes.
Matt, yes.
And three weeks ago, my answer would have been different.
Same here.
All right, Jojo.
Go ahead, Jojo.
Hi, Matt.
I've got a fun lineup.
if we get way ahead sometimes for this Kentucky basketball team
I'd like to see them put all the Kentucky boys in for a minute or two
we got five Kentucky boys that's on the team
you're talking about including the walk-ons I guess that's true what Noah
Moreno Johnson um
Tow and who and Reese Potter yeah yeah
Reese's red herding so that'd be hard to do
Oh, okay.
Well, and then is Walker Horn?
I guess he's a Kentucky guy, right?
Yes.
Has it ever been done?
You know, I bet it has.
Do you think it's ever been done five Kentucky guys in at the same time?
Maybe a long time ago, maybe?
Maybe not.
I mean, it's certainly not in recent times, but I bet it's been done at some point.
Yeah, I think you'd have to go pretty far back.
Yeah, I mean, how many times could it be?
couple guys from Indiana, Illinois back in the day.
I appreciate the call. How many times could it have been done?
Well, the one year...
You had Stockton, Carrier, Blevins, you could have...
Robbie Moss, Patrick Sparks.
There were a couple times where, like, they would have three or four of them on the floor
at the same time, but you need a big guy.
I remember that one time we beat Louisville with Sparks?
We had maybe four of them in at once.
I think it was like Sparks, Carrier, Stockton, and Ravi.
And they all contributed greatly in that game.
But I don't know that we've ever had five.
Probably haven't, actually.
Don't you think?
I mean, we probably haven't history, but I don't think there's been one reason.
Well, let's look at the fabulous five.
Ralph Beard, Wad Jones, Kenny Rollins.
There's three Kentucky guys.
Who else is on there on there?
That's going to be a U assignment on that one.
Yeah, you're going to have to do that.
I will say we've already gotten some fun moments with Jasper, Noah, and Moreno this year,
and that can continue to happen, but I don't know about getting a full five.
I don't see Zach joining that group.
I like your idea, sir.
I mean, especially if it's never happened,
I think that would be kind of cool in one of these games
were winning by a lot.
Draft Kings, make your pick.
You go to draft kings.com, promo code KSR.
Draft Kings, download the app, do your thing.
Let's look at it.
Bills and Texans.
Bills are a six-point favorite.
I'm picking the Texans to win.
Oh, are you?
I'm picking Texans money line at plus 240 and win big money.
So that's what I'm taking.
What about you?
Is Stroud out too?
Is he not going to play tonight?
Yeah, but Davis Mills, if you listen to Cover Zero, he's an absolute legend.
Two and O this year.
Got a neck that goes for miles.
Take Davis Mills and the Texans.
I'm not on the Davis Mills fan club, so I'm going to pick against them.
You're taking the bills to cover?
Bills to cover.
All right.
I've been a member of Bills Mafia for five days now.
I can't possibly pick against them in my first game since joining the club.
Five old days.
Let's go Buffalo.
Is that what we said?
I'm still learning the seconds.
Let's go Buffalo.
Shannon, what you got?
Yeah, let's go with the bill.
Well, then I'll be the only one with the Texans when Davis Mills does his thing.
You'll know about it.
What's next?
Matt.
Matt.
Go ahead, Matt.
Hey, guys.
I'm out here doing a little grounding meditation, and it behoves me to say a couple things real quick.
First, I like to say the little things are never little, and every milestone is a celebration.
We're going to be celebrating.
The football team's going to win out, and the girls' volleyball teams killing it,
the girls' basketball teams killing it, and the cats will get it together.
And one more thing real quick, Matt, I'm barefooted out here, meditating,
and I was still wondering, I know you're a busy man if I was going to get any of those Matt Jones shoes.
Yes, you can.
I need to figure out how to get them to you, because actually I have a few I'm getting rid of now.
I'm glad to get them to you, but you got to tell me how to do it, okay?
So send me an email and let me know where to send them, all right?
No problem.
No problem.
Thank you, Matt.
Thank you.
For 22 years, Best Places to Work in Kentucky has celebrated the businesses that make our state a great place to work.
They have a survey and awards program founded by the Kentucky Chamber.
If you want to get your business registered to be considered, deadline is December 12, 2025.
Best Places to Work, Kentucky.com.
that's best places to work
Kentucky.com. Do you think
KSR would be on that list?
I'd be at the top of the list.
Best places to work.
I mean, there's only a handful of us,
and we're technically,
it's part of our heart.
KS. Barr would be at the top of the list.
Of course, is going to be on the list.
Tomorrow we're at Parlor Pizza.
Kentucky plays tomorrow night.
Who do we play?
Loeola, Maryland.
Is there anything that can happen in that game
that would make people feel better?
Not unless like J-Low played,
but that's not going to happen, so no.
Yeah.
Well, this is the big, I mean, honestly, right now,
in about three minutes,
Mark Pope is going to take the stand.
We could come out of this feeling better, worse,
knowing about low.
In 30 minutes, we'll know a lot more about this team.
We'll see you tomorrow.

Last night, a blown call changed a game.
This morning, the internet lost its mind.
and nobody's telling you exactly what happened.
That's where SportsSlice comes in.
I'm Timbo, and every episode we're cutting through the noise,
breaking down the biggest moments in sports
and giving you the real story behind the headline.
And we're going straight to the source, the athletes themselves,
their locker room stories, their reactions in the moment,
and the stuff nobody gets to hear.

that you're not to be played with.
