Starting point is 00:03:07 Welcome back. It is Kentucky Sports Radio here live in Columbia, Kentucky, and Adair County, Don Franklin Ford. Give me some Dare County. By the way, Don Franklin Ford, I've got these little things to read. How about this one? Are you ready for rough stuff? Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:03:23 Yeah. Yeah. Pau chicka, pow, bough. All right, all right. Do you mean? You said hot young running back too easily. Blue collar dollars meet off-road grit at the Franklin Truck League, only at Don Franklin Auto.
Starting point is 00:03:37 You're pretty good at this usually. Tell me people from Madera County, Columbia, athletes, or citizens. The best athletes I can think of is Steve Hamilton. He ended up pitching for the New York Yankees. I know him when he was head baseball coach at Moorhead State. If I'm not mistaken, well, they had Connor Loy. We just took the Sweet 6th, Derek County of the Sweet 16. He's playing now at South Alabama, I think.
Starting point is 00:03:59 Right now. And is Lance Burton from here? I was going to add him. Lance Burton. The magician? Yeah. Really? I didn't know that.
Starting point is 00:04:09 Well, good. You practiced this magic right outside of Columbia? Maybe over Lindsay Wilson College. Okay. Wow. Well, good. And, of course, famous golfer Chase Carpenter's here somewhere. That's right, yeah.
Starting point is 00:04:19 Yes. Who, I think, can shoot 85 at any given point. All right, so let's talk for a second. A couple non-sports stories, Shannon, I'll start with you. Have you heard the controversy about Campbell's Soup? No. How many of you all have ever had a can of Campbell's Soup? Oh, my.
Starting point is 00:04:34 Of course. Yeah. And everybody has. The Campbell Soup CEO is under fire. Would you like to know why? Yes. He was recorded on tape by one of his employees who was suing him for something, recorded saying two things.
Starting point is 00:04:50 One, everybody that eats Campbell's soup is poor. And then number two saying, I would never eat our, I would never eat our chicken. It comes from a 3D printer. Oh, my gosh. Well, this may be the last time I read Campbell's chicken noodle soup. 3D printer soup. Is the CEO? It was somebody high up.
Starting point is 00:05:11 It was not. I may be wrong about the CEO. Maybe it was executive vice president. Somebody high up. So she sued the company for something else, but as part of the evidence, that came out. Campbell's Soup released a statement that said, if that's true, if that's real, it's obviously not what we think. I would hope it's not what you think.
Starting point is 00:05:32 But he's still not been fired yet. The person that did it, what do you think about, first of all, do you agree with his characterization of Campbell's Soup, it's chicken and its people? And it's 3D printed is the biggest thing that came from that. What does that even mean? How do you 3D print chicken? I didn't know you could 3D print food.
Starting point is 00:05:50 Is this something that's going on that? I hope not. Maybe it's not even really food. that's the last time I probably eat that. I can't believe this guy still has a job. And why would you say that out loud? You know, you could think that. Well, he was saying like a one-on-one meeting.
Starting point is 00:06:01 I don't care. He still said it out loud to somebody. You know that it could be recorded. That was a really stupid move. Ryan? I mean, growing up, when you got sick, you had a can of Campbell's chicken noodle soup. It was kind of all of our childhood growing up.
Starting point is 00:06:14 And for this guy to be a vice president or CEO, whatever, he's representing that company. I don't care if you're in a one-on-one conversation. You still got to believe in that company. It is a legend. But the tape, She brought it up. There's apparently a tape.
Starting point is 00:06:27 Wow. Yeah. But so, I mean, it is worth noting. I'm just telling you the story. I didn't hear it. Take don't lie. Well, be careful saying that as we get into the AI world. We're guaranteed humans.
Starting point is 00:06:38 I heard the promo today. Yes. I disagree with their product is for pores. I think everyone has had Campbell's soup at some point in. I like Campbell's super did until I thought their chicken may be from a printer. That being said, as much as I love that chicken noodle soup, I've always wondered what mystery meat I'm eating when I have that. Not chicken. Outside of chicken noodle soup, what is it?
Starting point is 00:06:57 Like cream of mushroom, they had one. That's good. Tomato. Tomato cheese. But, you know, chicken noodle was the only one I ever really had. Speaking of things in cans, I am told that yesterday at the I heart Thanksgiving lunch, which I had to miss due to the funeral, I am told that Shannon for the potluck brought one can of unopened green beans. That's true.
Starting point is 00:07:25 That's a lot more effort than I usually put into it. Usually I only bring my appetite. So you didn't even open the can? Did you just set the can on the table? That way you can, you know, it was a can good. They said, bring a can good and you can eat at the eye heart. Oh, so the can good was for like charity. It wasn't the actual eat.
Starting point is 00:07:46 It wasn't for the people. It was for the people. Here's the thing. They had two other dishes full of green beans. And I said, why do you need my green beans? we already have two dishes of green beans. But you didn't know that. You didn't know that before you got there.
Starting point is 00:07:57 No. But I just wanted to show that there was an effort there that I did bring something. But is that really an effort to bring just an unopened can? Look, mister, don't act like you've never showed up the Thanksgiving dinner, and you didn't bring anything either in years past. I know you didn't. But see, I would argue that bringing nothing, Drew, is better than bringing an unopened, like a literally a can of green. What are they supposed to even do with that?
Starting point is 00:08:19 Well, there was no can opener. It's not my fault. somebody had a can opener i could open them up put them in the microwave boom we got green beans i'm not with you if you don't bring anything you can act surprised that it's going on oh i didn't know i was supposed to bring something i'm sorry do you mind if i partake but you actually like thought it out and still brought a can you don't want to eat anything i cook i can promise you that i was actually doing everybody a favor you should be thinking me i'm really a hero people that worked hard and brought dishes i i genuinely thought in all my days of hearing potluck meals ryan bringing an unopened can of
Starting point is 00:08:51 green beans was the worst contribution I've ever heard to a pot. It was pot bad luck for them. They didn't get any green beans for me. And we can all can visualize it. Shannon walking down the hallway. All right, I got my side dish, put it on the table. Load me up. Where's my plate? It's all good. I'm good. We had plenty of food. Like there were so many leftovers. Why contribute
Starting point is 00:09:09 to more food being thrown away? Did you let someone else do it? Did you take the can home? No, it's still there. So now somebody has to deal with it. It's probably right there with Rick. Rick, is that can still there? Still right here. So if you get hungry, Rick, there's some green beans for you. Rick, I wish I wanted to brought a can over there with me.
Starting point is 00:09:27 That's your problem. Rick, out of curiosity, what did you bring to the meal? I wasn't able to make it, so I didn't bring anything. Okay, that's a better contribution than what Shannon did. Second, did you hear about what happened, Ryan, at Arizona State University last weekend? Tell me about it. So they went to a bar at Arizona State. is known for letting in underage kids, like kids under 21 to be able to drink.
Starting point is 00:09:57 And the police showed up, and, you know, sometimes they'll do this to, like, take the fake IDs or whatever. The Tempe, Arizona police went further. They arrested 249 students at once for drinking underage. There are great pictures online of all of these students just sitting there crying. They end up releasing all of them, but they all got booked. I think they got processed and arrested. I don't know if they just brought buses and took them all to.
Starting point is 00:10:30 I don't know how literally they got all of them to the thing, but they essentially arrested the entire bar. The bar owner gave a statement where he was like, this is ridiculous. How am I supposed to keep this bar open if people know that 250 people get arrested? And my answer to him would be, don't let in 250 people who are underage. But what do you make of 250 people being arrested at the same bar at the same time for underage drinking? You know, there's always that one bar you can kind of sneak in.
Starting point is 00:11:02 But somebody to let 250 people in and one night's the bouncer, whoever's checking those IDs must be blind. He's not doing his job out there. I blame him. Or they don't even try. But what do you think of that? I saw the video. It's madness how they just do that big bust and get everybody. I've not.
Starting point is 00:11:16 Did you see how I never saw How did they take them to the James? Yeah. I saw a lot of guys with like the zip ties. I guess it was just going around and slapping them on everybody. That's wild. On the back of the paddy wagon, like, let's go. How do you keep that bar open?
Starting point is 00:11:30 I mean, it has to shut down. Yeah. 249's a lot. I mean, that's... Yeah, it's one thing to let one or two slide through. Yeah, that's a lot. Well, I do think he will have a hard time getting the crowd going forward. Who's up next?
Starting point is 00:11:41 Johnny Versacee is up next. Johnny Versace is up next. I expected to hear from you. What's up? You know, Matt, Vince Marrow is dead to me. He's, he's dead to you. He's like, he gave a lot of years here. Are you like, are you completely just he's done? Yeah, you can't go to Louisville. What I'm here to tell you is Stoops is going into that half-empty pink seat
Starting point is 00:12:09 hellscape on Saturday and put bronze firmly on the hot seat. Well, that's a good question, Johnny, about attendance. I mean, I actually think this might be a sad attendance. At noon, neither team's fan base really wants to go. You know, I'm with you. I actually think it could be bad. Appreciate the call. You know, Brom, I don't think Brom's on the hot seat, Ryan,
Starting point is 00:12:38 but like if he were to lose this game and they finished the season with four straight losses and all their team quits, it would not be good for Jeffrey. Yeah, they've lost three in a row, and you're right, if they show up and quit and don't give effort, kind of like what we did last year to them, his name is still out there for like Penn State, like some other jobs.
Starting point is 00:12:55 He may lose that opportunity also. And one of their top recruits is from the city of Louisville, grew up a Louisville fan from St. X and just decommitted from the school from the city of Louisville, which, you know, Drew, that's kind of, that's kind of wild. Yeah, Mary Flipmas on that commitment, His parents were Louisville season ticket holders for a long time.
Starting point is 00:13:16 Might still be, so that's a tough look for him. People are mad. When he went and got Miller Moss, there are a lot of people like this guy's not good. Why are we doing this? I guess he thought he could turn him into something. That's been a big disappointment. I'm not too in tune with how Louisville fans feel, but it seems like they're really starting to turn a little bit or Sauron Brom,
Starting point is 00:13:33 at least for a year. Can we talk about something, Ryan, that I just want to throw out there. Throw it. you know i i don't want to be no bad mojo it's louisville week but this is the last show we're doing before the game on saturday until the pregame show i'm hearing maybe through the grapevine that there were some people that didn't love mark stoop's coming out and saying cutter bole he's a hundred percent back i mean i think that uh i think he was is very very likely back but maybe some people didn't like putting those words into his mouth.
Starting point is 00:14:14 And I think it's very interesting that yesterday they did the offensive players press conference before the Louisville game. And virtually every time they do one of these, understandably the quarterback speaks. The quarterback was not brought out yesterday for the Kentucky Louisville pregame offensive players press conference. You think there's anything to the rumblings? We said this on the show.
Starting point is 00:14:39 I think it was really unfair to cut her, kind of throwing him under the bus like that. So now all the pressure's on him, if something happens and maybe he doesn't come back, I mean, we're just going to. Well, I mean, I think he's going to be back. But if he doesn't come back, Drew, yep. Mark Stoops really just threw him under the bus by saying that. Because it's going to look like he changed, even though he didn't say anything. I think that was a huge mistake.
Starting point is 00:15:05 And I'm going to tell you whatever happens, that's why he wasn't at that. conference yesterday. Oh, definitely. And I like Mark, that was, that, he shouldn't have done that, in my opinion. What do you think? Yeah, and yesterday it should have been the day for Bowley. Was it not last year? His first career start was Louisville.
Starting point is 00:15:23 He was gone by halftime. Had his worst game ever. I mean, this is a redemption week for him. He's the reason, whatever you think of the year, he's the reason to at least flipped to be somewhat positive the last few weeks. I mean, that should have been the guy at the podium yesterday, but it's obvious that that rattled some feathers one way or another. If Cutter Bowley had said, Shannon, I'm coming back, feel free to say it, coach.
Starting point is 00:15:45 Then that's fine. Right. And I guess there's a chance he said that. But I kind of heard maybe that's not what happened. That, you know, and if it's not what happened, if you were his parents or you were him, would you be frustrated? Oh, yeah, if I didn't say that to him and not only say it to him, but let's say he did say, yeah, I'm coming back. But say, hey, I don't want you to say that publicly yet. and then Stoops did, that's a bad look.
Starting point is 00:16:10 So, yeah, I don't really know what you gain if you're Mark Stoops and saying that Cutter Well, I know what you gain. You get people off your back for a minute. That's what it was about. Yeah. I mean, that's why he did it. I'm sure that's why he did it. Either way.
Starting point is 00:16:22 Well, it's still a bad look if you're doing it just for that. If you're using another player to get people off your back, that's still a bad look, I think, for Steve. I totally agree, but, Ryan, don't you think that's probably why he did it? I think that's exactly why he did it. Look, my quarterback is coming back. He said he was going to, you know, come back for another year, so I am, too. We don't know if he's kept, we don't know if Stoops is coming back next year.
Starting point is 00:16:40 Well, I mean, Stoops may know or may think he knows. Well, yeah, he may think he knows. It may not be his decision. Stoops needs Bowley back if he's back. If you're Cutter and you're meeting with your head coach, the week before the Louisville game, what are you going to say when he asks, you guys talking like, no, coach. I'm thinking about exploring my options after next year. I would say this.
Starting point is 00:16:59 The worst possible scenario for UK football, I could imagine, is Mark Stoops coming back and Cutter Bowley. That would be the worst. Mark Stoops coming back with Cutter Bowley. It is what it is. Some of us think that should happen. Some of us should. Cutter Bowley coming back, no Mark Stoops, or no cutter or no Mark Stoops.
Starting point is 00:17:25 All of those can work. But Mark coming back with no cutter, Drew, this fan base will be not happy. And you got to think, you know, I don't love the young offense as much. is Ryan. I'm not going to call him young and hot and start sweating talking about him here, even though you are cooking there for a minute. But a lot of those guys that are a big part of the future are Bowley guys, Gilmore, Rodriguez. And I kind of see it as if he comes back, they come back. But if he were to leave, they don't want an unknown. There's a lot of people that tell you Willie Rodriguez, cutter Bowley are like, whatever happens, they're doing it together. And so that's a big one.
Starting point is 00:18:00 That's how it was with Gil. The three of them in high school were very close before they even got to campus. Burbin lovers, you don't want to miss the Commonwealth Causes December bourbon raffle, December 18th, $20,000 lineup. And we don't know when we've done enough. Because people scoreboard watch. Life becomes about wins and losses.
Starting point is 00:20:05 Steve Burns, Dustin Ross, because you find it important to be a good person while you hear on earth? Are you a good person because you're afraid? Starting point is 00:22:43 Welcome back. It is Kentucky Sports Radio here live. Don Franklin Otto, 859-2-8027. Let's go through a couple scheduled things real quick. Pre-game show today starts at 4.30 Eastern game is at 7 o'clock. It'll be at KS. Bar. Come on out and join us before the game. You can come watch the game at the bar as well.
Starting point is 00:23:04 If you've got your family home from Thanksgiving, you can get out of the house for a little bit, go watch the game. I'll have some tickets to give away during the pregame show as well. And then fast forward to Saturday, our pregame show will be at 9 a.m. Okay, for Kentucky Louisville. So it'll be at 9 a.m. So keep that in mind for Saturday. I'm going to have you all do a legal question. Are you ready? This is not what the law is. What would it be if you could decide it? Okay.
Starting point is 00:23:32 Courts and session. Let's go. There's an election in Tennessee next week for Congress. It's next Tuesday, okay? And the election is in a district that's very pro-Trump, but for whatever reason this election is going to be close. It's a special election for Congress. So both sides are really mobilizing for it. The Republican candidate, one of the groups supporting him,
Starting point is 00:23:57 sent out election flyers this week that acted like they were for the Democrat, but said go vote and then go vote. gave a date to a week later. So the election was like, it's going to be like the fourth, and it said, if you want to vote for whatever the Democrats name was, come vote on the 11th. Now, here's my question for you. It is unclear, I won't go into law, but it's unclear whether that's legal. It's not certain that it's illegal, but it's also not certain that it's legal.
Starting point is 00:24:35 So here's my question for you is if you were in charge. charge, do you think sending out, intentionally sending out the wrong date to vote and acting like it was your opponent that did it should be legal? Shannon? Yeah, it should be legal. You should be able to do that. That's called gamesmanship. If you don't know when election day is, that is on you for being a bad citizen. You should know when election day is.
Starting point is 00:24:59 You know you don't go vote on the 11th for election day. So it should be legal. Okay. Do you remember when we talk to rhyme before every election about who he's going to vote? vote for. Yeah. You would probably believe that flyer, wouldn't you? A lot of the things I vote on is what I get in the mail and what sign I see out in the yard.
Starting point is 00:25:16 So if I get something in the mail tells me it's on 11th, I think it's on the 11th. Then you're the target demo. No, no. This is the target demo right here. Yeah. A bunch of buffoons. So that's what I'm saying. That's election fraud.
Starting point is 00:25:30 They're trying to fraudulently, you know, create a situation where I think it's the wrong date. That's fraud. Okay. So Shannon is legal. Make it legal. Ryan is illegal, so I will let the final vote come to Frank. Is this illegal or illegal? We don't need Frank.
Starting point is 00:25:47 Drew will answer this one. This is easy. I'm with Shannon. If you can't figure out election day on your own, I'd rather you not vote anyway. Yeah. Like if you're falling for a flyer, I mean, that's on you. So I think it's a great tactic, actually. All right.
Starting point is 00:25:58 So I will, I lean towards you all with one exception. I think what would make it make me make it illegal is that he acted like the other guy said it. Right? Like if he just, so he literally acted like he was the other person. And that's the part I don't like. Like, tell him the wrong date, I'm kind of with you. If you don't know what the date is, that's on you. But to act like, for me to go, Ryan Lemon says it's this date, and it's me that's saying it,
Starting point is 00:26:29 that's the part that I think is kind of fraudulent. So the person I potentially could vote for doesn't even know the election date in this. And you're basically lying. And you're basically, so I would say now if you just sent it generically and just said, remember to go vote and you had that date, then I'm fine with it. We live in a world of AI where you've got to like, you know, make sure that you know it's legit when you look at something and that's your responsibility to figure it out. I saw the story. This was the person that I thought this would happen to is you.
Starting point is 00:26:58 I make up my mind who I'm voting for as I drive to the polling place. You acknowledge it's how many signs you see. Yeah. But you wouldn't question why you're voting a week later after election day? I guess why I would pull up when nothing's there. I think I might realize. Well, but I mean, the election would have finished a week before. Presumably you would have seen that it was over.
Starting point is 00:27:16 Well, he would have heard on the pre-show. Who won't? Who's up? Whoa, you like that. Who's up next? Seth is up next. Go ahead, Seth. Hey, guys.
Starting point is 00:27:29 Hey, guys. how you doing? Yeah, don't act. Remember, we, just go, yes. Okay. My thing, you guys were talking about earlier, about like the power forward position for basketball, Cam Williams, I think Andre Yellovich needs to get more run at that spot.
Starting point is 00:27:48 And then... What do you think about that? Go ahead. Finish what you're saying? Yeah. And also, you guys were talking about Jaden Quentin and Jalen Lowe would... hope with some of our issues. Jalen Lowe last year was a top team point guard last year when it
Starting point is 00:28:05 came to pick and rolls. And we ran so many pick and rolls. And we need to get back to some of the Zoom action. You don't have to convince me on Jalen Lowe. I mean, to me, if Jalen Lowe doesn't come back, I mean, I'm going to enjoy the season and hope the good things happen. But my chances of this being a special year go way down if we lose Jalen Lowe. What about Yelovitch at the four, Drew? I mean, appreciate the call. What about Yelovitch at the four? I've been predicting for two weeks as breakthroughs coming. I'm a little behind, but I want to see a lot more of him. And the caller said he needs to get more run.
Starting point is 00:28:37 I think he's running a lot in practice. He was touching the top of the building when we were at both practices. Pope called him out Saturday by name, said he's going to be running in practice. So he's still getting the hang of a lot of things. He was interviewed yesterday and said, I'm literally learning and getting better each day as he's getting acclimated everything. So I'm still counting on there being more there, and tonight's a good night to give him an opportunity. Here's what I'm excited about Yelovich.
Starting point is 00:28:57 When I watch Big Z play, and I mean, it's just natural we compare him because same country, right? I never really felt like Big Z was ever going to be 100% comfortable on the court. And even now at Illinois, he's not starting like it's – but Yellovich, you can see it, right? Like he can slide his feet. You can see him playing defense at this level and not looking out of place. So I do think that's a possibility it can work. He's much better on the defensive thing, I think, than most of us thought. He was guarding the one a couple times and did a good job staying in front of the guy.
Starting point is 00:29:26 He may not shoot as well as say Big Z did, but in terms of being able to play on defense, I actually think he's got a lot more potential in that regard. We'll take a break and be right back here at Don Franklin in Columbia's KSR. Welcome back. It is Kentucky Sports Radio here at Don Franklin, Ford in Columbia, Don Franklin. As I said, if you buy a vehicle here at Don Franklin, Columbia today, two years of free maintenance today, if you do it. So any of you here, or if you're in the area, come on and join us.
Starting point is 00:29:59 I have to tell you how much I love Ryan Lemon. This is an example why I love Ryan Lemon. We're sitting there watching the game last night at the bar, and Ryan Lemon goes, he shows me his phone, and he goes, look who just texted me. And so, of course, I would think it would be like a person, you know, somebody knows. And it was this text that said, Hi, I'm Senator Mark Kelly.
Starting point is 00:30:23 Blah, blah, blah. Donald Trump's coming after me. Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. Send money here. But the way Ryan said it acted like he thought he had literally just texted him, like his senator in Arizona. Like, hey, you know who I should ask for help? Ryan Lemon.
Starting point is 00:30:40 And then bur, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. So you just came in here this morning, and he just looked at me, and he goes, you know that guy that texted me? He was on Jimmy Kimmel last night. I was like, Ryan, it's like the head news story in America right now. Like, it's the number one news story. Why are you so surprised? And I love that about you.
Starting point is 00:31:02 I love the sort of your head is like, this guy texted me, and now he's on TV. I like that about you. You're so happy. That makes me happy. I had never heard of this guy. I knew nothing about the story. After I get the text, you're telling me about him. He's on Jimmy Kimmel.
Starting point is 00:31:19 It's the lead news story this morning on all the news reports. Sports like I never heard of this guy this time yesterday. He really must like you. Yeah. You may send me another text today. Definitely was not a bot or anything. Who's definitely not a generic text. This was he, he, uh, way too many words in that text, though. There was a lot of words. I didn't get through all of it. Did you donate? Oh, no. Oh, okay. I saw you streamed a game or anything. Question. If he had streamed a game. I'm donating. That's what's the tip box the least. Saturday. Is Lane Kiffin a
Starting point is 00:31:50 Old Miss Rebel? Is he an LSU Tiger or is he a Florida gator? Old Miss Rebel, I think he stays where he's at right there. I think that's a good spot where it's not too much pressure but it's still a good program.
Starting point is 00:32:01 I think he stays where he is. True. I'm really torn. I could see him staying, but LSU has put so much money out there. I will lean LSU. But if I were him, I would really consider staying put
Starting point is 00:32:12 just because the expectations at each place. I lean LSU too. 15 million. They just recently won a national title. You got a chance to win one when you go over there. I don't know if they can get over the hump at Ole Miss. He's got him in the playoffs, but can you win a national title?
Starting point is 00:32:25 He can at LSU. I think he's going there. I think he's going to LSU too. I think if he was going to stay, I think the comments from the AD about let's get through the egg bowl, etc. So, all right. So let's say the three of us are correct and he goes to LSU. Does he coach Ole Miss through the playoff? I would hope so
Starting point is 00:32:46 Would you want him Yeah he's still the guy who got you there Okay so you would want him to coach your team All the way through the ball Yes Okay what about you He can't go to LSU to win a national championship When he's literally coaching for a national championship now
Starting point is 00:32:59 I mean it's unlikely but he could have one In a couple months at Ole Miss So he couldn't leave them in the playoffs If they fall out of the playoff and they're just in a regular bowl Maybe but not in the playoff right Yeah as long they beat Mississippi State though They're going to be in the playoff I think You can't walk away from the opportunity to win one there
Starting point is 00:33:12 Drew's exactly right You've got to see this through. It's going to be tough because he's going to be trying to recruit a lot at LSU. He may have a lot of sleepless nights, but you made the bed, man. Now you've got to lay in it. Right now it's projected that Ole Miss would host a playoff game in Oxford. When they announce his name if he is going to LSU, will the crowd cheer if hosts a playoff game after he's already announced he's going to LSU? That's a great question.
Starting point is 00:33:42 And again, another awkward. situation. I can see there being a good mix of both. I think some fans would cheer him because they appreciate the fact that they're in the playoffs. First time they've been in this situation since 1960 or something. I could also see the other end of the spectrum where there's fans that are upset that he's leaving. Would you cheer him if you were there? Like if this situation would you go all right, let's go. Yeah. Yeah, I think so. Mark Stoops gets us to a playoff game but announces before the game he's going to go coach at Ohio State next year. Are you cheering? Absolutely, yeah.
Starting point is 00:34:13 Definitely. They got a cheer for him. But we didn't cheer Arkansas. We didn't cheer for Cal then. Yeah, but he lost the St. Peter's in Oakland. He lost the first round. Yeah. He won us a national championship.
Starting point is 00:34:24 Yeah, we forgot about that. It was a long time ago. He didn't leave actively while it's still in front of him. That's true. He didn't leave. You still have the goal in front of you. He didn't leave like right after he won a national championship. This is like the peak of playing Kiffin.
Starting point is 00:34:36 He left off after that awkward Mitch Barnhart interview, which is also on my list. If our football coach gets us to the playoffs, He can go wherever he wants, and I want to pat him on the back and kiss him on the cheek and say, good luck, son. Go out there, go do it. All right, so we think the LSU you think Ole Miss. Yes. Well, we'll find out. Who's next?
Starting point is 00:34:57 Carl is up next. Carl, go ahead, Carl. Yeah, Matt, are you aware that Jesse James robbed the bank of Columbia there on the square in Columbia? I actually had heard that before. of the trips here. I think someone told me that. Yeah, the bank ain't no longer there, but Jesse shot a hole in the wall
Starting point is 00:35:22 and for years, nobody patched that hole. I don't know. That's where I remember. I do remember that. Allegedly, they kept that hole for a while. That sounds like a wives' tale, but I'll believe it. Yeah, well, I've seen the hole years ago,
Starting point is 00:35:38 but I don't know about now whether it's still there or not. Did you? All right. Well, if you say so, I'm not going to question you. All right, thank you. All right, there you go. I want to tell you about the hole. Yeah, listen. It's strange that we would.
Starting point is 00:35:54 I do like those facts, although I do think, I feel like we talk about this with Abraham Lincoln. There's like 20 towns in this state that claims something about Abraham Lincoln. And then there's like 150 cities or maybe 200 around America that claim Jesse James. Right. Something in their town. I mean, these, people act like these are very prolific. And it seems like for a criminal, people seem to really love Jesse James. I mean, you shot up a bank and we're going to keep the whole.
Starting point is 00:36:21 We don't want to patch the hole up because it's Jesse James. But there is weird. Like sometimes in America criminals get sell. I mean, think about the dude up in New York, the Luigi guy. Like, I mean, he did something awful, yet there's people who celebrate him. Like, I mean, you know, sometimes I guess people just do that. I think Abraham Lincoln and Jesse James must have been in every single. single town in this state. One did good, one did bad, then they'd go to the next state.
Starting point is 00:36:45 It seems like they're all over the place. I think I just said that. Yeah, I mean, almost the exact, almost the exact same thing. Do you think the people that were shot at are proud that they're honoring the hole? Like, that could have killed me and you're celebrating this. Should we go find the hole after the show today? Yeah, that wouldn't be, I don't, like, they might find it very funny at the time. Probably not. Like, it could have been your smoker of head. If the city of Louisville made the, like, shots behind Craig Greenwood. Yeah, that's what I'm saying.
Starting point is 00:37:16 It's weird. Craig would be like, hang on. He's like, yeah, let's not patch that up. Let's keep that there as a reminder. That would be, I think they should patch it up. Who's next? Dylan is next. Dylan, go ahead, Dylan.
Starting point is 00:37:29 Hey, Matt, first time caller here. Who are? I got a question. So, like, the biggest thing for me about with Stoops is, I feel like as a fan base, we accept, like, mediocrity. So, like, what sets the rest of the SEC up for success is, like, their expectations as a fan base as a whole? So, like, my question is, do you think, like, if we keep Stoops, do you think we ever have a chance at, like, say, the playoffs or anything like that? That's a loaded question.
Starting point is 00:38:05 So I appreciate the call. Do I think that we have a chance at the playoff if Mark Stoops were to come back? Probably not. But I also would say to you that there have been years in Mark Stoop's tenure where we would have been a contender for the playoff. There would have been two years where Kentucky would have been either in the playoff or like one of the first couple teams left out. Do I have confidence that where the program is now and in the current structure that
Starting point is 00:38:35 Mark would do that? Probably not. But I also don't think you can just act like he never would have had a shot at that. I also would say this about programs, and I think this is really important. Ryan, you've heard me say this over and over. College football is a different sport today, completely different sport today than it was four years ago. Four years ago, I would have looked at you and said, Kentucky has no chance of ever being a contender. I said it for years.
Starting point is 00:39:06 It's a different world now. It's a different world. With NIL, it's like a salary cap in the NFL. If it was a free market, the Kansas City Chiefs could never be dominant. But in the NFL, there's a salary cap. So with a salary cap, you can get a guy like Mahomes, and the Chiefs can be good for 15 straight years. I think Kentucky football, do I think it has as good a chance as LSU,
Starting point is 00:39:33 Alabama? Of course not. There's a reason Kiffin's considering leaving Ole Miss for LSU. But as Vandy and Indiana has shown us in this new world, we actually have a chance. And because we actually have a chance, then I think you have to pick a coach that you think will give you that chance. I'm not sure if Stoops is that guy, but my expectations, Ryan, of what can be done have changed here dramatically in the N.I.L. Yeah, at this point in time, our program is not anywhere close to making the playoffs. No.
Starting point is 00:40:09 But who's to say they can't get a Diego Pavia one year and maybe ride him to a playoff run at some point? I mean, he got us to nine wins in a regular season twice. Who's to say you can't do it again with the right personnel? I mean, those two years we won nine games, Drew, there were games in those seasons where it could have gone the other way. And a 10-win Kentucky team has a really good chance at a playoff. So why not, you know? I'm with you.
Starting point is 00:40:33 but Stoops' good years were in the recruit and develop era. Like our best players were freshmen that he developed. Some guys he took gambles on, like a Lynn Bowden that had some issues in high school, and he took a chance. But now the world has completely changed. And since it's changed, we are way behind. And I don't think there's any ignoring that. The door opened for teams a couple years ago,
Starting point is 00:40:53 and Vandy in Indiana jumped right in, and we kicked around, and we're still not where we need to be. I mean, Stoops kind of said this week without saying it, that the money ain't great. He said there's a lot of teams out there with money right now. And we're not one of them. Listen, I'm not saying Stoop's the right guy. But I do, this is the first time in my life that I felt like with the right guy you could build a program.
Starting point is 00:41:14 Yeah. Because I never felt that way before. I actually think that is potentially true now. But guess what? It's true for all these schools, though. Yeah. You know what I mean? Like, every school has a chance now.
Starting point is 00:41:27 I actually think the NIL has done the exact opposite of what people thought. People thought it was going to separate the program. I think it's actually brought them closer together. I think it's given people a chance that they wouldn't have had otherwise. Stop overpaying for sunglasses. Just wanted to make it sure. Bogo. Bob and James Town, we're doing a show here. You almost made it to the end without getting shush. Well, tell him to, Bob, turn your voice down.
Starting point is 00:47:06 Don't encourage him, sir. Go-go, B-O-G-O at Cornbread Hemp. Okay, let's go. We're going to pick our Draft King's Parlay. Ryan has been booted from the Parlay for losing it yet again. We've won two. We would have won three if Ryan wasn't in it. So he's out.
Starting point is 00:47:23 So Billy's going to replace him. I'm going to go first this week. I went last, last week. I'm going to take Auburn. Or, excuse me, Alabama is giving up six and a half at Auburn, but they have to win to make the playoff. They're going to win. Auburn's going to quit halfway through the game, so I will take Alabama to cover the six and half
Starting point is 00:47:42 and win in the Iron Bowl. Shannon. Auburn was my pick. Yeah, that's the one I was going to go with as well. You were going to go Alabama or Auburn? Alabama. I'm with you. I think that's a good pick.
Starting point is 00:47:51 All right, let me jump over to Clemson, South Carolina. I don't have the point spread. I think that was like three for Clemson. Three and a half for South Carolina. Yeah, so give me Clemson on the road with the points. You like that one? Yeah. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:48:08 All right, but you're taking Clipson to cover the three and a half on the road. Drew. Billy, do you have yours? I was going with Auburn. I do have mine. And this is the team that ruined the parlay last week. I'm taking Pitt at home plus seven versus Miami. All right.
Starting point is 00:48:23 I'm okay with that one. I'll tell you what, since you don't even like my pick, let me switch. We'll get rid of Alabama Auburn. I'll take – I'll take Tennessee to cover against Vandy. Tennessee's at home. I think they're going to cover against Vandy. in Rocky Top. Diego Pavia's mom got a little too saucy for mainstream America last week.
Starting point is 00:48:42 So she'll take it down the notch, and I'm going to take Tennessee to cover against Vandy. So we will boot Auburn, Alabama out of it. I like that one. I like that one. I'm going with the dog in the Egg Bowl. Mississippi State at home getting a touchdown. Lane Kiffin's got a foot out the door. Mississippi State's played a lot of close games.
Starting point is 00:49:01 This is one of those rivalries where it doesn't matter what they've done all year. It is always a war. I will go with Mississippi State getting a touchdown at home on Thanksgiving. All right, thank you very much. No, wait. We're doing Saturday games. I'm sorry. That's before.
Starting point is 00:49:14 Let me do Missouri getting two and a half. Missouri is a two and a half point favorite at Arkansas. I'll take Missouri. Drew did say before we started, Shetney, he had plenty of picks. Well, I had Auburn, and then I had that one, and Missouri's my other one. So I'm going to my third. They're a two and a half point favorite against Arkansas. I like Missouri.
Starting point is 00:49:28 So I guess we have Missouri, Pitt, Tennessee, and what was your Shannon? Clemson. Clemson. All right. Missouri, Pitt, Tennessee. and Clemson. Thank you very much, Billy. All right, let's talk about the Kentucky games. We'll start with the basketball game.
Starting point is 00:49:41 First of all, the women's team plays tonight as well. I think they're at 630. Is that right? 5.30? In Puerto Rico. They're in Puerto Rico. Somehow this game is not on television, or it's on something called Flow Sports,
Starting point is 00:49:54 which is not something I think I have. But they're playing against a Big Ten team, playing against Maryland. So good luck to them. But let's go to the basketball game. What do you think the score is tonight? John Pelfrey bringing Tennessee, Techian, I think the spread was like 37, and it may be worse than that.
Starting point is 00:50:08 I think I'm going to go 104 to 65. 39 points, all right? The women are 5.30 on Flow Sports for all you Flow Sports subscribers. Cats won't get to 100, but I'll say they get close. 96, 62, and Walker Horn gets his first career points tonight. He's been so close. I love, he does not. He'll shoot.
Starting point is 00:50:29 You big Walker Horn fan? You gave you the only person I've ever seen. Give Walker Horn applause. You just like to clap. Some people go in there and dribble and milk the clock. He's out there firing. Some people enjoy clapping. I like that.
Starting point is 00:50:41 All right, go ahead. All right, I'm going to say 84-45 cats blow out. I'm going to say 94-57 cats. Yeah, all right. Let's go to the football. Big game. I mean, the post-game show on Saturday, I don't know what I'm going to be dealing with. We might be dealing with celebrating a big victory and a bowl.
Starting point is 00:51:04 game, we might be dealing with a close loss, we might be dealing with a fan base that is in revolt. I mean, there's absolutely no way to know what it's going to be like Saturday. What do you think is going to happen there in Louis? I don't pick Kentucky a winner. I'm going to pick 24-21. Come down to the final minutes. Maybe Calway gets the big field goal late in the game to put us ahead 24-21. Do you like legitimately believe that? Is that a belief? Okay. Yeah. All right, what do you think? I wish I could see our availability report. That's going to tell the whole story. I'm going to assume more guys played than they did a week ago, and that
Starting point is 00:51:38 Louisville's and Shambles, I'll say 312, Kentucky. Oh, that's a big victory. I've already bet the alternate spread as high as it'll go. All right, good. Shannon. I think it's going to be a good game. And about who wants it more, I'm going to say Kentucky wins 2320. Yeah, I don't know. I mean, I think we could kill them, and I think they could kill us. I think it's all going to be a mindset in terms of who wants to be on there, who wants to win it. I think the teams are relatively equal now that Louisville's lost a lot of guys. So I think it's just going to depends on how excited they are. I think whoever's winning at the end of the first quarter wins the game going away.
Starting point is 00:52:16 So I'm going to say that's us. So I'm going to pick us to win 30 to 17. But I also think it could easily be 30 to 17 the other way.
