Those people are starving for banter.

This linebacker, this linebacker walks up to me. He goes, Hey, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her. What? Time out.
Starting point is 00:01:25 Quarterback on office blue 42. A rep, my mama want you to wave at her. What? Where's he at? Hey, Miss Parker. Listen to the Clifferts show on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. What's up, fam?

We're digging into the biggest surprises of the season. And I'm looking back on some of my greatest playoff moments. If we didn't talk ever again, I was harmed. You just understood. That's how personal it got.
Starting point is 00:02:00 Wow. Then after that game seven, Mark keep coming until he's like, you know I love you, dog. You know, it's all love. This was just playoffs. This was just basketball. So listen to Point Game on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. I'm glad it's not as annoying on the radio, but here I can't hear myself think when it beeps. Allegedly, they've agreed to not test it until after 12 noon. It's supposed to be this hour, no alarm. All right. Thank you to City Center. That's nice of you. Allegedly.
Starting point is 00:03:50 Again, from my purposes, feels tested. I think we're good. My purpose is it feels like it works. But thank you to them for doing that. All right, Jay and Lyndon is live at Sissy Cakes. Okay. This is the bakery that I think is co-owned or owned by Will Stein's mom. Jay, you are there? How are you?
Starting point is 00:04:11 I'm actually standing outside while Will Stein's mom is being interviewed on TV. Okay. That's exciting. Have you gotten to eat a cake yet? I have it ready to go. I haven't tried it yet. You know, I'm a known, I'm getting blown up by all my Trinity buddies because I'm a known Trinity hater.
Starting point is 00:04:31 I guess this is my penance. See? So you're a Trinity hater. I'm a Trinity and you have a hater. So I bet this is like my, I went to DeSales. So, um, with Rouse. So I, uh, this is my penance, I guess. So what is DeSales?
Starting point is 00:04:47 Is DeSales like, is DeSales like the Catholic school for the working class? That's exactly it. It's a school of the people. Well, it's a private school. It can't be that much of the people. But it is like more of the... Okay, so first of all, the cake. What kind of cake is this?
Starting point is 00:05:06 This is the orange juice cake. Orange juice cake. All right, Jay. Take a bite for us and tell us this bite will decide what the Will Stein era is going to be like at Kentucky. All right. I'm in here now. Oh, this is Will's mom talking... the TV station in the background there.
Starting point is 00:05:29 By the way, the reporter, the TV reporter said there are KSR fans coming in during the show buying cakes. So say, when you go in, say, KSR to the mom, along with saying, go cats. Right. And she actually brought up KSR in the interview. What'd she say? She said she's a KSR listener. Nice. Look at that.
Starting point is 00:05:51 There we go. Our new coach's mom is a listener, Shannon. How about that? That's awesome. That is awesome. We need to hear how this cake is, though. All right, so taste, tell me what the cake's like. It is absolutely incredible.
Starting point is 00:06:04 We're going to the playoffs. Orange Bowl. Orange Bowl, here we come. It's icing in the middle of it. It is so moist. I'm not kidding. It is phenomenal. Orange Bowl, here we come.
Starting point is 00:06:17 The orange juice cake, it's sissy cakes. If you're a Kentucky fan of Louisville, you got to go sell them out, right? They're going to be sold out by the end of the end of the end. You got to go. And say, so is she off her interview yet? They are not. But they said they want to come on. They said they want it.
Starting point is 00:06:35 I don't know what they're talking about now. Do they got, how long could they talk? All right, Jay, you go ahead. Hang on when she's ready to talk. Just, I'll tell you what, hang up. And then when she's ready to talk, call back and that'll give Shannon the signal. Okay.
Starting point is 00:06:53 All right. Is this my first correspondent job? I think this is the first time you're doing great. You're doing great. Like the last correspondent we had was Wu when Ryan got hair plugs. That was the last time we had a correspondent. All right. So Jay, just call back when she's ready to talk. Okay? Got it. All right. Appreciate it.
Starting point is 00:07:09 What's some in-depth reporting there he did? What's Will Stein's bomb's name? I don't want to call her. I don't want to say the wrong thing. I'll look it up. Look it up. I mean, we need to like address her. Or do I say Mrs. Stein? It'd be polite. Yeah. But I mean, what do you think? Debbie. Should I say Debbie or should I?
Starting point is 00:07:24 I say Mrs. Stein. We don't want to get this wrong. People care about how you think of them. I would say Mrs. Stein to be safe. We're just meeting her. We'll work our way into Debbie. If she says we can call her Debbie, then we'll call her Debbie. But up until that. All of our mothers raised us to be polite gentlemen. Okay. Apparently this is like next to the Burger King in St. Matthews. I'm trying to think, where is the, first of all of I didn't know there were still Burger Kings. Oh, there's Burger Kings. Oh, there's Burger Kings. But in Louisville, where's there everywhere? I lived right by it. over there on Breckennell. What was that called? It's on Shelbyville Road. I could walk to... It's next to the Black Rabbit. Where again, on Netflix, there are murders there. It's close to Drake's. It's close to Tin Roof. I just played at Ten Roof last week. I know exactly where that's it. I trained the Ten Roof staff when they opened. I lived right over there and walked on down.
Starting point is 00:08:11 Yeah. Okay. All right. Sissy's cakes. Well, that's right next to Trady High School, like you said. Big day for Sissy's Cakes today, though. May here be a record-breaking day for them. All right. Let's talk about a couple other things. heard through the grapevine sources tell KSR. Mark Stoops and UK actually in a very good place right now.
Starting point is 00:08:31 That Mark Stoops was a little taken aback because he didn't think it was going to happen immediately or like that it was going to happen, but also understood and is even planning on staying in Lexington. I'm really glad to hear that. Yes. Are you surprised? I am a little surprised. I really kind of thought maybe he might leave town, get a fresh start somewhere. Well, I mean, I think if he gets a job sometime he'll go. But that until then, probably will stay.
Starting point is 00:09:00 I genuinely believe that he loves this place. He loves Kentucky. He loves the university. He loves the football program. And I genuinely believe it has hurt him that he wasn't as successful as he should have been the last couple years. Doesn't surprise me at all he's staying. I mean, I don't know his personal life well. But, I mean, as he said, this has been home for 13 years. He said I'm a Kentucky in just a couple weeks ago. He doesn't have family back in Youngstown. I mean, was he going to move back to Miami? I mean, as a coach, you bounce around, and this is where he's been the longest.
Starting point is 00:09:26 Got a big home. We got several friends in a network here. Doesn't shock me at all that he would want to stay. Loves horses. Has that bourbon thing. That's huge, I think, is bourbon business. Let me ask you a golf ball. What if he came to a Kentucky basketball game this year?
Starting point is 00:09:42 Like, what if he was there to not? It'd be a little weird, I think. Would it be weird? It would definitely be weird if he went to a football game next year. Oh, I bet he's at a football game. Oh, he's going to football games. I think he'll be at a football game. What else are you going to do?
Starting point is 00:09:56 What if he showed up? Tonight's going to be a celebration. He probably can't go tonight. Yeah. That would be a little strange. Yeah. If I were him, I'd let it sit for a few weeks. But then what if he showed up at a game in like January?
Starting point is 00:10:08 And they show him up on the Jumbotron. Do you think people would cheer? I think they would. I think there's a lot of people that would absolutely cheer. I think it would be a roar. I think there are people that would cheer tonight if he was there. I do. I genuinely do. I think it would be odd to have him there,
Starting point is 00:10:23 especially if they're introducing the new coach. Because it's like you're watching the new girl. But if he were to come in January, I think he would get a big round. I do. I think a lot of people's feelings about him changed when he agreed to extend the buyout. I think if he was going to handcuff and hold us to that 60-day buyout,
Starting point is 00:10:43 I don't know if he would be openly received in January. I've been a little surprised. just how positive. The online, which is the harshest people, the online reception to him has been. Yeah, even some of the people that were the nastiest before the last two weeks of results made it obvious that needed to change. I've seen them turn a little bit.
Starting point is 00:11:04 I think it's everyone just wanted to change so bad. Now that it's happened, you just have to be a hater to just keep on hating. All right, call Jay and Lyndon. He says he's ready. Okay. Is he too big to call us now? He just said we are ready, but I thought. Call me.
Starting point is 00:11:17 They've got phone lines open. All right. I'm going to tell him to call us. But he may not know the number. He doesn't know. How many times does he call this show over the years? He doesn't know the number? I'm calling him.
Starting point is 00:11:28 I'm calling him. I have the game for Mark's Seeps. Okay. The Florida basketball game. He owns Florida. Make sure he's got, I mean, that's plenty of, that's in March. Plenty of time to let, you know, let Tom pass, let Will have his moment. All right.
Starting point is 00:11:40 859-2807. We do have a couple of lines. All right, Jay and Lyndon is there at Sissy Cakes. Jay, is Mrs. Stein there with you? Mrs. Stein is right here with me. Yes, ma'am. All right. Let's put her on there. Okay, I'm going to put her on. That's Matt.
Starting point is 00:11:59 Hi, Matt. Hi, how are you? Welcome. How's it going today? I'm so excited to be on the show. I love your show. I listen to your show. That is so nice. In the car. That is so nice. Can we call you Debbie? You can call me Debbie, of course.
Starting point is 00:12:17 Okay. All right. So, Debbie, first of all, how excited are you that your son is becoming the UK football coach? Oh, my gosh. It's hard to even put into words. I mean, my heart is racing right now so fast. It's so flit exciting. I can't even.
Starting point is 00:12:37 I can't even really. I can't even. I'm for clumped. I have my posters up. I have my UK Wildcat football. poster up and my basketball poster right there. I work at Sissy Cakes every day and I'm in the packaging department. My sister and I both do everything, but that's kind of my thing. I do the packaging. She does the baking and I look at that every day. And they've been up the whole time. I got him at
Starting point is 00:13:01 Kroger. So anyway. So you, did you all have a DeMarcus cousins poster in your house? We most certainly did. Yes, I had the DeMarcus cousin. I can't remember. I, remember because I think it was in the Lexington newspaper, wasn't it? Yes, it was. Yeah. So you got the big foldout one, the full size. Oh, yes, the full size, the Marcus Cousin poster. Yes, I still have it. And I remember piecing it together and I got it laminated. And then it was hanging up in the boys' room. Mm-hmm. So your husband played at UK and you all have been season ticket holders for how long? Yes, he was a football player from 1980 to 1980. No, Yeah, 80 to 85.
Starting point is 00:13:48 And wait, what was the second part of the question? Yeah, how long have you been season ticket holders? I heard you season. Well, we did give up the tickets. So I know I've heard that report out there. Yes, we were season ticket holders for the longest time. Yes. But just as the boys, you know, it just got busy.
Starting point is 00:14:03 And I was a school teacher. It was hard to go to those Tuesday night games. And we found that we were giving away the tickets quite a bit. Oh, you were a basketball season ticket holder. And football. No. And football. football. We had both.
Starting point is 00:14:17 Uh-huh. We had both. All right. So now your son goes to U of L to play. was that hard? It was a little strange, especially when we, U.S. played U.S.K.
Starting point is 00:14:29 and going into Commonwealth Stadium with William as the starting quarterback. That was a little, little, felt a little weird. And I know at some of the U.S. games, I know that I maybe sometimes said go cats, accidentally. Because they'll use the same, you know, go to us.
Starting point is 00:14:45 I love it. I love it. I did that a couple times, but I was like, oh, I'm so sorry. But again, that opportunity for William to go to Yovell, I mean, it wouldn't have, it all, you know, he met Charlie, he met Bobby Trino. He met Charlie Strong, the path to Texas, coaching in Texas. You know, it all went the way it really truly was supposed to go. And now he's, and now he's back, and now he's back home. This is very exciting.
Starting point is 00:15:11 Now, you know, we talked about sissy cakes. Tell us about sissy cakes. Well, my sister Blakey, and she's standing right here, she might have to come on and say hi as well. Please do. My sister Blake and I've been baking cakes for 30 years. And yeah, we have this little cake business that is just absolutely exploding. Even before all of this, we've been doing this a long time. We also sell our cakes to all for Paul's fruit market.
Starting point is 00:15:40 So people get our cakes, you know, every day. We have a big website presence. we ship across the United States. We have been asked to ship in other countries. We haven't gotten that together yet. But yes, it's something. And our orange juice cake is the world famous cake. All right.
Starting point is 00:15:58 So I've told KSR fans to come in there today and try out the cakes. I hope you have a good supply ready because I think you're going to get a bunch of traffic today. But I'm sure we'll meet you here at the press conference soon. But congratulations. This has to be a real. really cool day for you and we're all very excited to have your son part of the team. Oh, thank you so much.
Starting point is 00:16:23 We are just absolutely thrilled and everyone has been wonderful thus far. My son, Nate, I have four boys. So we call him William. Everyone that knows him from birth is William. But Will is number two. So Matthew, William, Nathan and Lee and Nate and I are heading to Lexington here in a couple hours to meet the plane and take care of the babies and, you know, be part of it for the next couple days.
Starting point is 00:16:48 So now we know when he's going to be here. I'm just going to say, Debbie. Now that's kind of exciting. Oh, gosh. So sorry. Am I? Don't worry about it. It's fine.
Starting point is 00:16:58 I think people, I will. I think that means we know what's at the game. Let me talk to your sister just to say hello, okay? Okay. Here's sister Blakey. Hello? Blakey, I hear you bake the cakes. I bake the cakes, Matt.
Starting point is 00:17:13 All right. Which one is it that I want? The orange juice cake. You want the orange juice cake. Okay, well, good. I'm going to come in there next time I'm in Louisville. I'll be there later this week. I'm going to come get an orange juice cake.
Starting point is 00:17:27 And I hope you'll have enough because I think you're about to get a run of customers. I think maybe we are. Yes, we're excited to feed the masses. All right. Well, good. Well, Blakey, thank you. And keep your sister calm. I'm sure this is an exciting time.
Starting point is 00:17:41 Well, yes, absolutely. Thank you so much. We appreciate you guys. We're excited. All right. There you go. Appreciate it. Debbie and Blakey Stein, Sissy cakes. See, their sisters. Get it? Sissy cakes. Jay and Lyndon, thank you very much for the reporting. Here we go. It's back to you. Thank you very much for the reporting. We appreciate it. All right. I'll look for my double time today since it's snow. Okay. We'll do. Appreciate it. Appreciate it. Jay. Thank you. There you. you go. Live reporting. That's, that's journalism. And she dropped a little knowledge on us too there
Starting point is 00:18:17 that he's coming in this afternoon. Yeah. So there you go. I bet that means he's going to be at the game. I'm just guessing, you know. I love that she calls him William. I do too. I'm calling him William. Well, like, you get, I'm going to call him William. Well, you get Matthew, my grandparents would call me Andrew. I get it. William. People. William Stein. We'll take a break. We're back. I'm for clipped here on KSR. Last night, a. A. blown call changed a game. This morning, the internet lost its mind. Starting point is 00:19:32 Welcome to my new podcast, Learn the Hardway with me, your host, and your favorite therapist, Kier Games. And in recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month, I'm bringing over a decade of my own experience in the mental health field and conversations with so many incredible guests. I'm talking. Tripp Fontaine, Ryan Clark. Sometimes when we're in the pursuit of the thing,
Starting point is 00:19:51 we get so wrapped up in the chase that we don't realize that we are in possession of the thing. And we're still chasing it. And we don't know when we've done enough. Because people scoreboard watch. Life becomes about wins and losses. Steve Burns,
Starting point is 00:20:06 Ross because you find it important to be a good person while you hear on earth or are you a good person because you're afraid. Because that's two different intentions, bro. Absolutely. And that's two different levels of trust. I want you to just really be a good person. Join me, Kear Gaines, is we have real conversations about healing, growth, fatherhood, pressure, and purpose on my new podcast, Learn the Hardway.
Starting point is 00:20:28 Open your free, our heart radio app. Search Learn the Hardway and listen now. What's up, fam. This Isaiah Thomas. And I'm CJ Toledano. Cast point game is about defying the odds. Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed. And finding ways to win no matter what.
Starting point is 00:20:45 He's the smartest player to ever play the game. His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before. And he knows without Luca and Austin Reeves, I got to manipulate the game. We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs. I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series because when they don't have Rudy in the lineup, he has to really guard guys like Nas Reed.
Starting point is 00:21:06 He has to guard you. really is Randall. And then he has to give us everything he gives us on the night-to-night basis on offense. And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson, we dive into some playoff history too. Steve Nass would get that thing. That man, hell get the flying. He run up the court licking his fingers while he got the ball. Like, you go through a training camp with that, Isaiah.
Starting point is 00:21:26 You figure it out real quick. Get your ass up and down the court, and you're going to get the ball. So listen to Point Game on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. agency, the ability to know that we're the experts in our own body. On the podcast cultivating her space, Dr. Dom and Terry Lomax create a space where black women can show up fully and be heard. I wholeheartedly think, you know, you hit 30, you shouldn't have to share one with anybody. Mm-hmm.
Starting point is 00:21:55 From navigating friendships and healing to setting boundaries and prioritizing your mental health. These are real honest conversations. We don't always get to have out loud. totally unreasonable with different parts of life, right? Like, oh, have all three meals and make sure you're mindful during all of them? Absolutely not. During one meal, I'm standing. I'm standing and handing my children food.
Starting point is 00:22:18 Because healing, empowerment, and resilience aren't just ideas. Their practices. And this Mental Health Awareness Month, there's no better time to pour back into yourself. Listen to cultivating her space on the I-Heart Radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast. All right. Somebody's already found his flight, Shannon. They've already got it.
Starting point is 00:22:44 That doesn't surprise me. From Eugene, Oregon takes off like literally right now. What's JVY Airport? Would that be Jeffersonville, Indiana? That would confirm that it was the second plane. That's like Clark County Airport. Up in Indiana. So, so yeah, taking off literally 1125 Eastern.
Starting point is 00:23:10 So two minutes from now. Debbie better hurry and get over here to take care of those babies. I mean, it's a three, it's a four-hour flight. She's got a time. So, like, you need to go get the cake before the. She's got to take care of the babies. Yeah. Take care of the babies.
Starting point is 00:23:25 Well, you can actually, Kentucky fans could actually track the flight. Our coach is on their way here from Eugene to, I mean, there can't be too many. flights, Shannon, from Eugene to Clark County, Indiana. Especially if it's private, right? I mean, I can not imagine there's a lot of routes. Who else would be? No, it's a private plane. So there you go.
Starting point is 00:23:50 That's it. That is very nice, by the way. Listen to her, get choked up like that. Yeah, she almost broke down a little bit. My mom has already, like, written me crying about it. Yeah. And she said she's calling him William. Also, like that she said, while her son was in a little,
Starting point is 00:24:04 Louisville uniform playing in front of her. She was saying Go Cats. I mean, that shows how deep your love for Kentucky is. Had the DeMarcus Cousins poster. Laminated it. Oh, she laminated? That's what she said. That's kind of cool. I guess I didn't totally process that. That's very cool.
Starting point is 00:24:20 By the way, you, if it's as we get ready, let me find here. Clayton and crew. It's founded on a simple idea. All other goods could last a lifetime. If you're trying to figure out what to get somebody in your life for Christmas, bags, belts, wallets, and more at Clayton and Krum, a Kentucky company, Drew, and I've gotten Christmas gifts from this. We've given him Clayton and C-R-U-M-E.com. Honestly, my mom doesn't know what to
Starting point is 00:24:44 get me, she just gets something from Clayton &Crew. Not even kidding. Smart. She does. Clayton and Crum, CRU-M-E.com, visit their flagship store in Louisville on Shelby Street, located in New Lou, Quality leather goods built to last at Clayton and Crew. How about that? By the way, sissy cakes. I now want to get one of those, but to get the snow. I'm hoping somebody will bring us one maybe tomorrow, the show tomorrow. We don't make everybody do your work. Hint, hint, wink, wink.
Starting point is 00:25:10 We are going to be at the bar tomorrow and Thursday, and pregame show tonight is at 7 o'clock. Weird time, but it's at 7 o'clock. Mark, go ahead, Mark. Hey, this show is definitely a best of. Even with all the beeps, even with all the beeps? even it's because of first of all it's funny the repetition is clearly annoying and then the freak out oh my gosh we are we're dying over here so all right shannon put it in the rotation well you
Starting point is 00:25:43 can do that uh christmas day or christmas eve if you want no we got it go ahead that's all he wanted to tell you well all right well that makes me feel better i mean i don't you know part of it is you get so excited about these big shows and you want to go well and then you come in and it starts, but, you know, maybe that's part of the beauty of it all. I guess when I was listening to Howard Stern as a kid, Ryan, when they would freak out and like go crazy, that I can remember those. Already once almost like murdered his personal assistant on the air. I remember that very distinctly.
Starting point is 00:26:22 That's why one of my favorite shows of all time is the Charles Ramsey show, because throughout the show you just kept getting more irritated and more frustrated and more angry. And Eric C. Khan, who ended up in federal prison. I'm sure he'll have trouble pardon him in the next few months, but he did end up in prison, just for the record. And so by finally the end of the show, you're about to explode, and here he comes. Charles Ramsey.
Starting point is 00:26:43 The show ended. It's the show ended. Mark, go ahead, Mark. Hey, guys, I was wondering, since Semarral left, did they make the decision to fire stoop and get Stein because they didn't want to wait and lose another Kentucky connection? and did the Trinity, let's call them the Trinity Mafia, did they have anything to do with Stein getting hired? I don't think.
Starting point is 00:27:08 Mitch is not part of that world, so I don't think so. I appreciate the call. I do think, though, like, the Trinity, you know, they do call them the Trinity Mafia. I do think it could open up, who knows, maybe new donors to the program, a lot of money in the Trinity Mafia. Yes. I mean, they have a lot of talent on their football team.
Starting point is 00:27:27 A lot of talent. now that, you know, Louisville was kind of, you would think, would take that. And now, by the way, it would be interesting there are a lot, there's a lot of whispering that she mentioned Charlie Strong about maybe him as the defensive coordinator. What would you think if former U.S. head coach Charlie Strong were his defensive, he was a great coordinator. He was a great defensive coach. Just not a good head coach.
Starting point is 00:27:49 It would be weird. It would be weird. It would be weird. You want to talk about somebody that we'd need to go clean the archives for. Well, they did a lot of that on their own. Justin Burke is a quarterback from Louisville that's a big name in coaching that Stein could bring with him. He went to Catholic. He's from Lexington Catholic.
Starting point is 00:28:07 There could be a lot of U.S. influence on this staff, which I know they just won 41 and nothing. They're still having their victory lap, but this has to be eating them up a little bit inside. No. Oh, well, that's a whole note. The Louisville fans are heartbroken. I'm trying to think who the Kentucky equivalent of this would be. Can you paint? Who's a Kentucky guy?
Starting point is 00:28:25 No, no. Who's a kid that went to UK? that maybe wasn't the biggest player, but we just had a disproportionate love for. It'd be almost like Jared Polson becoming the coach of Louisville. That'd be hard. What would you think if Jared Polson was the Louisville coach? I wouldn't like it.
Starting point is 00:28:46 My initial reaction. It's very similar, right? It was a walk-on, had to start occasionally. It's a good pick. If Jared Polson was a great college basketball coach, and you assumed one day he'll coach here. I think Stein being a Trinity, like actual player legend, eats him up too, because they loved him in high school. He was a great quarterback for Trinity.
Starting point is 00:29:04 Yeah, see? Wow. We'll take a break. Be right back, SikSR. T.J. Smith, personal injury attorney. Call T.J. He'll make them pay. Now, more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. Here's Matt Jones.
Starting point is 00:29:23 So, Corey Price just found the high school picture of Will Stein's parents. I've got to see it. Look at that tux right there. That's a good-looking couple back then. You could see how they... What a tux. That is a heck of a tux. People wear that back then?
Starting point is 00:29:47 Oh, yeah. I wouldn't want to mess with that guy. Apparently, Will Stein's dad was college roommates with Jeff Pachoro. Didn't know that. He was on the team that beat Tennessee before the... Does he have to play... Is that with Freddie? He had to play with Prattie, right?
Starting point is 00:30:00 80 to 85. You think you just missed him. Yeah, I might have missed him by year. He started like 87, I think. Year or two. Yeah, wow. A lot of good stuff on here. The show continues to roll.
Starting point is 00:30:13 It just feels right, you know? It just feels right. We need to talk about one thing. What about Vince Mero, all these former players? So Jeff Fidette and Juice Johnson were on a podcast. I didn't get to listen to it. it. But did I hear just not saying good things about Vince? It's pro stoop's, but all the other people assistants, not just Vince, Lamar Thomas. They didn't like Lamar Thomas. Definitely
Starting point is 00:30:39 didn't like Lamar Thomas. Said Vince kind of threatened to hold him back from the NFL. Yeah. And then other people are chiming in and said if I could tell the stories I had. Yeah, like including Lynn Bowden just did. And Gary, that can't be about Vince. Vince and Lynn were very close. So that surprises me. Garrett Johnson and Jeff Bedet are two of my favorites. Garrett specifically, I feel like he doesn't get enough credit for how good he was. They allege that Vince kept them told NFL teams not to pick them. Now, Vince responded and said, you know I didn't say that,
Starting point is 00:31:12 but they said that on a podcast. I have one little, when Jeff was going through the draft process, and this has never happened with any player ever, someone from the Titans reached out to me and asked about Jeff Bedet's character. That's never happened for any basketball, anything ever. So just the fact that that happened gives me a little bit of something going on here. But also, I don't know. Did both those guys leave?
Starting point is 00:31:37 I know Bedet did. Bedet left. That's kind of his point. He's like, I knew they were going to hold me back from the NFL. They did another year. They're actually very clear. They're like Kentucky. We love Lexington.
Starting point is 00:31:44 We love the school. We love the fans. Jeff Bedet even says, even though I went to Oklahoma, I'm raising my kids to know that I went to Kentucky. I can't wait to take them back and show them around. He's like, me leaving was because I knew that they weren't going to get me to the next level. He made that very clear. Yeah, although we did get a lot of people
Starting point is 00:32:00 but not wide receivers, although Wondell and It wasn't just that they said it Chris Matthews There probably, there might be some exaggerating there I don't know, have no clue But other players chiming in like yeah, tell them that concerned me a little bit
Starting point is 00:32:13 Yeah, there are players chiming in I mean at this point I guess I mean Vince isn't here so It's been almost 10 years since those guys played him. We're talking about Vince we never talked about his tweet he made during the during the game from the sideline
Starting point is 00:32:25 Did we not talk about that? Uh-uh. Shannon, what did you think about Vince tweeting at Nick Rouse was six minutes to go in the game? Boss move. You know what? You're not even concerned about the game. But Nick Rouse, though. Why Nick Rouse? How do you like that, Nick Rous? I know. He should have just kept going. I don't know why he stopped at Nick.
Starting point is 00:32:45 But it was during the game. During the game. The game was over at halftime. Well, I think he didn't do it like at me because I've not said anything. I don't know what Nick said. I thought they liked each other. Vince replied to a Nick tweet that wasn't even about the game. It was about something else in college football So that means six minutes to go Vince got on his phone, looked up
Starting point is 00:33:04 Nick Rouch. And didn't they just He just wanted you to know he's there, you know? Hello, Nick Roush. That's all you said. I mean, Shannon's right. That was a boss move and he was still here.
Starting point is 00:33:17 We would all be bragging on him talking about him. No, I mean, I'm not criticized. Like it is, I mean, you don't want people tweeting during the game, beat them. Beat them. But if you're Jeff Brod him, you think you like, You think he's happy about tweeting during the game? You're up 41-0.
Starting point is 00:33:31 No, then go for it. I mean, that's amazing. Taking shots to Nick Roush. Nick's tweet was about John Somerall withdrawing his name from the Auburn search as Florida continues to look at him. And what did Vince say? Hello, Nick Roush.
Starting point is 00:33:43 The tweet had nothing to do with the game whatsoever. Hello, Nick Roush. And then Vince retweeted our predictions and said, look at these experts. Yeah. Of course we're going to pick up. We weren't on that sheet, though. That was the website.
Starting point is 00:33:56 Website people. They didn't include me and you. Thankfully. I got a minute. I loved it. I mean, you're up 41 nothing. What am I going to do about it? Do what you want.
Starting point is 00:34:02 Devin, go ahead, Devin. Hey, guys. You actually just brought up what I was going to ask about. Although I do kind of wonder about, you know, Jeff Bedett's character if he's going online talking about this stuff. Well, I mean, I'd be careful about saying that. This is kind of the new thing in sports. Athletes tell, like, true stories about their lives.
Starting point is 00:34:26 and, you know, I'm always very hesitant to say anything about people's character. Like, two really good people can also fight. You know what I mean? I mean, I know people who hate each other and they're both good people. Like, that happened. And fans should hear how they spoke about Kentucky. They're just raving about their time otherwise. So go ahead.
Starting point is 00:34:45 Yeah, well, the other thing was just I'm really excited for Will Stein be the coach, Kentucky. You know, he was the all-time favorite player of mine growing up. I mean, whenever he stared down, Mantra's Harold, dunking all over Florida. Yeah, what about that for a second? Appreciate the call. How about we have another, I mean, we did have a Willie Stein. Now we have a, what would have been the chances in 2007 that you would say in the next 20 years, there will be two people named Will Stein who are a big part of Kentucky Athletics?
Starting point is 00:35:20 Could he be the receivers coach? He's got background playing receiver. I heard he played. It's been brought up. I mean, how crazy is that? That's a, you know, I didn't even put it two and two to get until somebody tweeted it says, you know, we have another Willie Stein. We need an update of Kentucky Joe's Willie Colley, Stine man. We do.
Starting point is 00:35:35 But he needs to find a way to not put Collie. He's got to take that out and just say he's a Will Steinman. He's a William Stein man. He's a William, I'm a William Stein man. If they had any creativity over there, they'd bring Willie Collie Stein into Lexington and have him like show Will Stine around. He's in and out. Yeah, but they should have him like showing him around. You really need to do something with the two of them, with Willie and Will.
Starting point is 00:35:57 Like, they need to do that. That's too easy of a video opportunity right there. That's a great idea. They need to do something. Yes. They'll release in three years. By the way, KSR is sending someone to live stream the plane. Nice.
Starting point is 00:36:15 We're ridiculous. We won't have people. There is a part of this that is exactly why I love BBN and KSR. I mean, the whole thing last night about the plane and, like, Everybody sit like that. It hasn't taken off yet. It's cleared for takeoff. No, but they still haven't taken off.
Starting point is 00:36:30 And then there's a decoy plane. Like, that's what I love. Sometimes we get so wrapped up in the serious in this that we miss that sort of the door with cow and just the goofing. And even today, Sissy Cakes, if you go, send me a text on the text machine. Like if you get a picture of the cake, 772, 774, 5, 254. If you go eat one today, just send it. now I made compile a post of all the people getting their sissy cakes. So that point about how fun this has been.
Starting point is 00:36:58 You look around, I mean, it's not Ole Miss LSU, but it's just utter chaos down there. Florida fans are kind of hating on Summerall after the press conference. We're just talking about bun cakes and wins the plainland. Yeah, I mean, like because of the end of cow and the end of stoops, there just hasn't been a ton of these, like, fun, goofy moments. And I kind of like that we're getting to do that. Freebird, go ahead. Hey guys, I agree with that last caller.
Starting point is 00:37:24 I was thinking Will Stein would be a triple. This show has just made this a home run hire, and I have a question. Do you think this may be Mitch Barnhart's swan song? Yes, I do. I think this is a higher. Here's how I, and again, he'll have to, he'll talk to the media tomorrow. Maybe somebody will ask him that. I do wonder if like this is a way for Mitch to leave and say,
Starting point is 00:37:49 I've left this in the hand of two of your. own to young, rising potential stars, and we've left it in their hands, and like, that becomes kind of his legacy. I do think, Freebird, that's maybe one way to look at. Well, this is a legendary show, guys. Make sure, like you said, save it for Christmas Eve or as soon as you can. I appreciate the call. I'll enjoy it.
Starting point is 00:38:16 Thank you very much. But, yeah, I think that's, I could see that. I think Mitch's legacy did it a lot depend on this hire right here. If he messed this up, if he didn't get the right guy, I think that would. Mitch has this. I was thinking about this the other day.
Starting point is 00:38:30 When you look at Mitch Barnardt hires, he seems to have like a two out of three record. And every sport. So I'm going to assume Pope does well for purposes of my argument. Okay. Pope and Cal, good. Billy and. Rich Brooks and Mark Stoops, good.
Starting point is 00:38:49 Joker Phillips. Matthew Mitchell and Kenny Brooks. Good. Kyra Elsie. Nick Mingeone and Cohen. Right. Good. Did we have an eh?
Starting point is 00:39:03 Gary Henderson. Gary Henderson. Yeah, I haven't had many over there. Two out of three in every sport. It's pretty good batting every day. Now, this is his first one that's a fourth. Yeah. Right.
Starting point is 00:39:14 That's right. So now, if he's two out of three in every sport, what happens when he gets his fourth. He's got a 66% batting average. Orange ball. He had to win this one though to get the fans base back on board with football. You agree with my...
Starting point is 00:39:30 Yeah, I like that. I mean, that's four major sports. And Shannon, two out of three in all of them, right? Two out of three ain't bad. I've been all over Mitch lately. That's not... I don't think that's a secret. I got to compliment him on this.
Starting point is 00:39:44 I wanted Stein. He got it done quickly. He made the move. I honestly didn't know. No drama. No drama? So, you know, I would have to be a hater to not say something nice about Mitch and this. I think he nailed this higher. We'll find out how it looks on down the road with results. But I've been pretty harsh on him lately and I've got to say he did great here.
Starting point is 00:39:59 And you had Fimbom saying yesterday. He's waited too long. He's waited too long. And a couple hours later, it breaks it to tap. Right. So what are you hearing about the contract, Will Stein's contract? Five years. Don't know the money. Five years. So that thing gets pretty standard for the good guy. Without Luca and Austin Reeves, I got to manipulate the game. We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs.
Starting point is 00:43:17 I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series because when they don't have Rudy in the lineup, he has to really guard guys like Nas Reid. He has to guard Julius Randall. And then he has to give us everything he gives us on the night-to-night basis on offense. And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson,
Starting point is 00:43:33 we dive into some playoff history too. Steve Nass would get that thing. That man, hell get the flying. He running up the court, licking his fingers, why he got the ball. Like, you go through a training camp with that ice. Ed, you figure it out real quick. Get your ass up and down the court, and you're going to get the balls.

A lot of people are ordering the sissy cakes. I hope they have some, I think which one was the baker, Blakey? Blakey. I think Blakey's going to have to do some work. people are sending me.
Starting point is 00:45:14 There's some people have gone in, but a lot of people are going to sissy cakes.com. Have you ever had orange juice cake before? I don't think I've ever had it. I never even heard of it. I'm worried we're going to distract her when she needs to be celebrating with her son. She's like, I can't go to rough. I have 2,000 pigs to package by tomorrow. Let's go to, let's do some breaking news.
Starting point is 00:45:36 Rani. Nana! Matt Ponatoski. Is that right? Is that how I say his name? the four-star quarterback that had committed to Kentucky under Stoop's, but was not going to sign until the spring, has now decided with the hiring of Will Stein to sign with Kentucky on signing day tomorrow.
Starting point is 00:45:57 That's big. For perception purposes, if nothing else, that's huge. You get him to sign. I mean, he was down to Kentucky and Oregon. And he just announced a couple days when Stoops got fired that he was going to wait and not sign. So it sounds like William was quick to get at that day. done. William got it done. All right. Draft Kings. You go to draft kings.com. Promal code is KSR. You can bet five win $200. The SEC ACC Challenge starts tonight. We'll save North Carolina prediction for the
Starting point is 00:46:26 pregame show. I'm going to give you the other big games. Florida's at Duke. Who you got? I'm going to take Duke. Cam Boozer is the real deal and that'll be a tough environment. Ryan. I'm taking Duke at Duke. I'm going to take Duke, Shannon. Duke. All right. Let's see. Tennessee is at Syracuse. Tennessee. I don't like how good Tennessee looks. Tennessee's really good. I'll say that out loud. Yeah. There's seven and one at this point. Let's see. This seems like B-level games except for us in Florida Duke. A lot of the good teams play tomorrow. So I won't go through the rest of them. Tomorrow you got a little cow versus Louisville again. He thought he was done with the Louisville.
Starting point is 00:47:06 That's a big one and you got what, Auburn, NC State. But you got Cal Louisville. tomorrow. Vandy SMU for Shandam. Who you cheering for it in Cal Louisville? There's no cheering for anything there. I'm making you. Can I tell you a little secret? What's that?
Starting point is 00:47:19 On Thanksgiving. Arkansas Duke. Yeah. I was cheering for Duke. Really? My mom was screaming at the TV for Duke. For Duke. Wow.
Starting point is 00:47:34 It was just something about, I don't know. I mean, I wasn't like, I didn't really. I kind of was like, I think I'd rather Duke win. Wow. Would you have cheered for Arkansas? No, I was cheering for Duke. Okay, then why are you wowing? It sounds like you agreed.
Starting point is 00:47:48 I was wowing that Karen was so verbal about it. She got really into it. I think it was just because it was Thanksgiving and she just got really into it. I guess I'm not going to say I'm cheering for either one that doesn't exist. But honestly, Louisville winning would help us. It would be another loss for Arkansas. Makes them look better. I don't want them to look better.
Starting point is 00:48:06 But for the resume, I guess that would help. Yeah. 859-9-280-2287. I'm going to just go through a couple of these. Try to make it short, folks, so I can get to me and meet these people as possible. Jim, go ahead, Jim. Hey, you brought up Charlie Strong. I was wondering, you know, Brad White is something else when we're healthy,
Starting point is 00:48:24 and I don't know how much stooped had involved in his defense, but I wouldn't be hurting my feelings to keep him around. Yeah, I would be surprised if they did that, but he does love Lexington. I appreciate the call. I thought he was going to take the job with Summerall. He has not yet. That doesn't mean he won't. we'll see Rick go ahead Rick
Starting point is 00:48:42 yeah sir a great show today to Will's mom and then the fire alarm that's just the sign that the coach is coming in on fire buddy I like it I'll take it Greg go ahead Greg Hey great show today by the way
Starting point is 00:49:02 probably the best one I've heard a long time first thing I wanted to just mention you guys can talk about it is expectations fan expectations in the past I think our our fan expectations did not equal the team's expectations. And you always saw people like with Stoops, oh, he's done so much for us in the past, and we're going to get this stupid bowl.
Starting point is 00:49:19 It didn't mean anything. I think we need to lift our expectations up. We need its SEC championship with this guy. I think we're going to get it and hopefully get into the bowl. So you guys can talk about expectations. All right. It's great. Let's save that conversation for tomorrow or, I mean,
Starting point is 00:49:32 when we have the game tonight too, but I think that's a good conversation to have. We'll talk about it. Tim, go ahead, Tim. With Shannon Dawson coming back with Southern Miss and we not changing our signals offensively. Do you think there's any chance that Vince was able to read through our signals? No.
Starting point is 00:49:48 That's part of the reason we got demolished. I love Vince, but I'm going to say no. James. James. James. Mr. Jones. Yes. Hey, sir.
Starting point is 00:50:00 I was the first of all heard the news. I was like, what's Willie Collisstein know about football? I said, I know he played football. But what's he know about him? I don't know he, coach. But anyway, I'm excited about football. I love this show. Mr. Jones, change your thing on the
Starting point is 00:50:18 far along batteries. That's why it's going off because you ain't changed the battery. That's not why I went off. I appreciate the call. But everyone should change their batteries at their house. We use it a PSA. Tim, you can finish it off. Go ahead. Yeah. Do you hear me? Yes.
Starting point is 00:50:36 Okay. On flight radar, you go on there on the app. In Eugene, Oregon, and there's only one private flight from Eugene. It's coming to Louisville, and the number of the plane is N4-5 EG. It's a private plane.
Starting point is 00:50:55 Yeah, all right. Has it taken off yet? You want to follow it. Has it taken off yet? No, it hasn't. No, it hasn't. It's still sitting on the ground. Okay.
Starting point is 00:51:04 All right. You keep us up to date, Tim. Thank you very much. That just tickles me. No end. To be fair, he knows how to do it, and I didn't. don't know how to do it. I had to tweet out somebody. Will you tell me if the Columbus plane takes off? This is, I used to, I had Cal's hotel number. This is how I knew where he was recruiting.
Starting point is 00:51:21 They said like I had sources. They did. Can you ask to have it taken off? You can. Off certain websites. Now, there might be other ways you can. Because I remember Elon wanted his off. Yeah, flight aware is where I used to just follow where Cal was going and then write recruiting reports. Yeah. Well, listen. It's exciting. It is. Adding, injecting some energy into the program. program, which it needed. I guess today was fun, I guess. I mean, it was fun for me when his mom got on. First hour's a little stressful, but you know what? You all tend to, I guess, find that entertaining.
Starting point is 00:51:55 I did roll with it. So that's fine. Pre-game show starts at 7 o'clock tonight at KS Bar and Grill. Everybody be safe in the snow. And we'll get ready to welcome our new coach tomorrow. We'll see you later. This has been Kentucky Sports Radio. Another podcast from some SNL late-night comedy guy, not quite.
