We are here in New Orleans.
I am here in New Orleans.
And Ryan, I had something uncharacteristic happened to me Friday.
Friday.
After the show, I guess you're talking about?
Friday evening, yes.
Okay, all right.
I don't know why you're surprised.
The show ends at noon.
There's a lot of day left after that.
Yeah, so what was it?
I freaked out about this game tomorrow.
It was, you know, I don't get nervous.
I have really been nervous doing media three times, okay?
First time was the first time I ever did a show on ESPN when I did.
did it with that woman, Nicole Briscoe, who did her famous,
Who the Hell is Matt Jones, right?
Yeah, right.
I remember that one.
And it was a 7 o'clock in the morning.
And I was nervous.
I was okay, though, but, like, I was a little nervous.
Second time was the first time I hosted my own show on there when I flew up to Bristol,
to ESPN.
And you guys have been there now, Drew.
Like it's a pretty magical place.
I mean, it's a warehouse, but still it's ESPN, right?
And I had never been in the building, and I walked in and did a show about the NFL, which I didn't know anything about.
I was pretty nervous about that.
Like, I was very nervous about that.
But I got over it, but that was tough.
Then the third time was when I went on Bill Maher on HBO.
Right.
And you were sitting there with Bill Maher and Katie Couric.
Right.
Like, that was nervous.
But Friday night was like, okay, hang on.
Because I decided to spend Friday night and Saturday listening, Ryan, to the play-by-play broadcast of the other college football playoff games on radio.
On radio, it's different, yeah.
On radio, because I wanted to hear what do they do.
And Friday night was Alabama, Oklahoma.
And I turned it on radio, and I began to panic.
Because the guy doing it, I don't know who his name was.
I never caught it, but he was really good.
And he was doing stuff that I can't do.
He would be like, you know, Ryan Lemon and the shotgun, two wide receivers to the left, one to the right,
tied in in motion.
He's looking at a 36 personnel.
He signals over to the side.
Like he's saying all this stuff, and Ryan, I'm going, I can't do that.
Like, I don't know any of those things.
You got to set the scene a little more on radio.
You're right.
But he was like, and he was talking like a mile a minute.
And I go, I don't know if I can do this.
Like I can't, like I have to do this and debut on national radio.
Plus I don't know these two teams.
And so then I started panicking.
And I was like, okay, I got to hit the research button.
I went to Staples and printed out, Drew, both teams' media guides and notes.
Oh, I got to have the hard copy.
Yes, because, you know, I don't.
don't like to read on on on on on on computer i need a hard copy went to staples took me an hour
to even figure out how to work out the staples copy machine it's the last time you've done that
been a while all right been a while get that done like so i spend all weekend highlighting
ryan i i literally muted my television all of saturday and sunday and was just calling games out
loud.
That's good.
You know, a little dress rehearsal, so to speak.
And as it went, I got better.
But even yesterday, I'm on the plane.
And I'm watching the game on the plane.
And I'm calling the game.
I thought in my head, but I actually think I was saying some words out loud as well.
And now I feel a lot better about it.
I found my own pace.
Like, I'm going to talk a lot slower than a lot of these other dudes do.
because I don't know as much, to be honest with you.
And I'm not panicky now.
But Friday night, I called Myron and I called my friend Hubby.
And I was like, do you think it's too late for me to get out of this?
Because I don't know if I can do this.
So I feel better about it.
I am still nervous.
But tomorrow, it is so crazy to do a skill that you've never done your entire life.
and then you have to do it on national radio talking about two teams that you know nothing about.
I'm happy about a couple things.
One is that Myron is sitting right beside you.
You guys have worked together now for years.
You've got a good chemistry between each other.
You can kind of rely on him to help you and you get in a situation where you kind of get stuck.
You know what I mean?
He'll be able to pull you through.
But he's never done this either.
Yeah.
He's never been a color commentator for a football game ever.
It's like we have no experience.
Okay.
there's a collective zero game experience between the two of us.
Well, at least it's only on ESPN radio, kind of a minor outlet.
You know, there won't be a whole lot of people.
I really should have gone and taken up people's offers, Drew, to, like, do a Campbellsville game or something this year.
I should have done that.
Or a high school game.
But, you know, you knock some of that on the plane.
You've got the nerves behind you.
All you're doing now is walking into the big game, getting into the booth, and just let it all out.
Do you have your team boards ready?
Have any made your team boards?
I have not, although I bought, I showed him to Drew.
Tell Ryan what my poster boards are like.
I bought Tom Hart suggested to buy poster boards.
By the way, Tom Hart got to hear me freak out a little bit too.
Because I called Tom Hart, and I'm like, why did I do this, Tom?
And he's like, you're going to be fine.
And Tom, you want to know what Tom's number one piece of advice was?
I like this advice.
He said, just say what you see.
And that sounds simplistic, but it's actually,
helped a lot. Just what I see there on the screen, just say it, right?
That sounds simplistic. I mean, again, that sounds simplistic. I actually think it's a really
good advice, Ryan. Just say what you see. Yeah, because you're our eyes for the game through the
radio. So whatever you see, you can relate it to us. Yeah, just say it. But don't sit and worry
too much about what you should be saying, Drew. Just say what you see. And you're good at painting
the scene. So if you get stuck and you need like a crutch, just say something about the crowd.
But there's not a mean by there. Well, say that.
be like, wow, sure there's a lot of empty seats here.
But you know how to talk about what's around outside of the football, too, and people
want to hear that.
So I have my little poster boards.
I'm going to work on that today, which is where for people who don't know that, Tom Leach,
he does these and he gives them away sometimes after games, which is like his, you know,
here's the roster, here's their numbers, here's little facts about them.
Ryan, I'm working on that today.
But I have two, like you'd be doing a presentation in like fifth grade, two poster boards.
It is.
And, you know, if you've been around Tom when he does a game, he's very meticulous on his poster boards.
And I think he got that idea from Kew.
I think Kewood kind of taught him how to do that.
Well, Kewood is, I don't think Kewood would have ever thought it would go to the New Orleans Bowl,
but it is going to the New Orleans Bowl.
I'm meeting with the, when this show ends, I'm meeting with the southern or western Kentucky coaching staff.
Don't know what I'm going to say to those guys.
But, you know.
They had a good year, right?
Yes.
Well, they come into the year.
eight and four. They did lose their last two games.
Southern Miss I've lost their last three games. They have a new coach.
Their coach left for Memphis. These are all things you'll learn on the broadcast.
Great. Great. You'll do fine. You'll be just fine.
But for people who listen to this show and who are like, they hear me, like, always be
confident. Like, this is, like, I'm, I'm nervous.
The only time I can remember being as nervous as I was Friday night was the very first NFL show.
where Dan Orlovsky and I sat in like a room next to the studio,
both of us freaking out.
We had just met each other and both of us freaking out.
Because Dan had never done radio and I had never been on ESPN.
And we both were like, all right, I know I just met you, but we got it.
And of course, it's worked out for him.
He's a huge star now.
So.
Do you have an on-the-field reporter too you can toss two?
No, we do not.
It's just us.
No experts, no sideline reporters, just me and him.
And once that train takes off, Drew, it ain't stopping for three and a half hours.
I think you're going to end up loving it.
Now, you might not want to do it again over and over, but you know, you admire to have been doing this for a long time and you'll get goofy with it if you have to.
It sounds like they're not going to let you take calls.
Did you get that cleared up?
Haven't heard.
I'll find out today in the production meeting.
know if they're going to let me take calls or not.
But you got this.
I'm definitely going to use the text machine.
I'm going to read stuff from the text machine.
That's good, good idea.
So the game starts at 530.
Now, UK plays at 1.
There's a good chance that the post-game show, which who is hosting the post-game show,
which one of you is hosting that?
Me and Billy.
Ryan, you and Billy is a good chance, like, that'll be ending almost right as I'm starting.
Perfect.
Perfect.
So, and it's 530 until probably 830 or 9.
So if you...
I got more question for you.
You know, usually they have, you got a little time for a little intro before the game starts.
You're going to write it down?
You're just going to wing something.
Well, even Tom would write it down.
They said that it depends on what happens in the game before, that Louisville Toledo game.
Oh, okay.
So if that game goes long, we won't, you know, just depends on Louisville and Toledo.
So I'm going to say to Louisville and Toledo, play slow.
Tell Vince, those are his teams.
Take as much time as you need, guys.
We'll be fine.
Who's next?
Reed is up next.
Read, go ahead, Reed.
Good morning, guys.
How are y'all this morning?
Good, good morning.
Hey, we had an awesome time.
My wife and I and daughter and son-in-law with Atlanta.
Stayed at the Weston, and we loved the damn game.
It was an awesome game.
It was.
And it was.
It was. It was awesome.
I mean, we got there early.
We went out, we went up there Thursday night, and then come back yesterday, and it was awesome.
We were facing the crowd.
My son-in-law got was telling me, said, I can't believe how much crowd y'all got.
I said, well, both of my daughter and son-in-law graduated from Auburn.
We live in Oklahoma, Alabama.
So, yeah, he couldn't believe it, but, yeah, it was.
Well, I mean, I heard there was, like, 70%, 70% content.
fans and when the Kentucky game started
it was all Kentucky fans. Now Carolina
had some people a little later.
I heard Ohio State,
one guy said he didn't see one Ohio State
fan the whole day. So
that's always been like that with them. They just
don't travel at all. Anything
else? I guess
that's it. Just enjoy y'all show
as usual, but we're
related to the day. So
we appreciate you. Enjoy your holidays. Merry
Christmas. Who's up next?
Up next is Kentucky
Gasman.
Kentucky Gasman.
Go ahead.
859-280-2-807.
Yeah, I got two things.
First of all, I want to say congratulations to the volleyball team.
Man, what an awesome, awesome season.
I've been more into volleyball this year and I've probably ever had.
Just three losses on that season, that's awesome.
Totally agree.
Secondly, I want to say to Rick Petino's press conference,
I really feel like that he is just taken up for his former player
from the booze that they received from the Gonzaga game.
Now, I know that he said media,
but I really feel like, you know, Rick thinks that we can't think for our own sometimes,
like the media is trying to put a narrative to us,
and that's why we say what we say.
But, you know, we're Kentucky.
We know basketball.
You know, we see when the effort's not there, we see the mannerisms between the players.
And I just want to say, Rick, no parent needed stay in your lane.
I totally agree with you about that, by the way.
I appreciate the call.
You know, Bruce Pearl said during the game, one of the things I did hear him say,
is that he thought we had the most intelligent fan base in the country when it comes to basketball.
I agree with that.
I like Rick Patino again.
I think it's cool that Rick Patino and Kentucky fans get along again.
but Drew, I don't need Rick Petino to be the lecturer for how we should act.
No offense to Rick Petino, but you ain't exactly Mr. Perfect.
You've done some actions constantly that are kind of embarrassing.
We don't need you lecturing us on how to act.
I have mixed emotions about whether or not people should have booed,
but you know what?
We don't need you to tell us what we need to do.
I'm glad to have you back.
I'm glad to have you kind of as our friend,
but I don't need to be told the way.
Kentucky fans need to feel or the way Kentucky fans need to have by outsiders.
I keep saying this.
We said it to Seth Greenberger a couple years ago.
Y'all are not part of this.
You coach St. Johns.
You worry about St. Johns.
You can be nice when you want to be nice because it's helpful.
But I don't need you telling us how to fan.
That's the end of my sentence.
Rick's been doing that since Pope got the job.
I felt like he put out a video every month last year for Kentucky fans when he was
the head coach of St. John's.
Remember he told us how.
how to welcome John Caliperi before the Kentucky Arkansas game.
It's like, what do you do?
Why are you talking about us?
All these coaches, I don't like when John Caliperi used to tell us what we should do to Bruce
Park.
Like, y'all are not in charge.
We are adults, okay?
Everybody can act how they want.
You are not the moral police of telling people you're not here and you're not a fan.
And people are going to do what they do.
And everybody, it's easy to blame the media.
Oh, the media, the media, the media.
People do what they want, okay?
They do what they want.
And so you can blame us if you want,
but people have their own minds,
and they're going to do what they do.
We'll take a break.

Welcome back, Kentucky Sports Radio.
Pain stiffness or numbing sensation is presenting you from preventing you from enjoying watching your favorite teams compete.
Go to Court Physical Therapy.
Court has been Kentucky's go-to physical therapy group to help athletes, fans, and average Joes get rid of aches and pains and get back to what they love.
It's court.com.
That's K-O-R-T.com.
Don't be in pain.
Go to court.
One person writes, Matt, you comparing yourself to the guy that calls the playoff game would be like me comparing my offensive rebound to Jaden Quainton.
you can't hold yourself to that standard.
Well, that's true, but Drew, like, you know,
you want to be as good as you can.
I needed to hear somebody bad.
You and I talked about this on Cover Zero last night.
I should have found a way to listen to somebody who wasn't good at it.
But I don't, you know, I don't know who those people are.
Because trying to hold yourself to the high standard is kind of difficult.
Yeah, you might not be Ian Eagle right away or even Tom Hart.
But you'll find your groove there.
Have you, before the play actually starts, you know, you've got to know some formations.
Have you found your groove of how you're going to actually, like the info you're going to give?
But, I mean, do you know what you'll say?
I started to figure out, especially yesterday, I started to figure out things you can say besides the formations.
So like I heard one guy, Ryan, he would say things like he looks to the other side of the line.
He sees six guys, he sees six players staring back at him looking blitz.
I was like, ooh, I like that.
Yeah.
You can say that every, every play.
How are we going to know?
We're on radio.
Yeah, you can say.
And then that's the other thing.
If I get it wrong, Ryan, who's going to know?
They can't see.
If this is for TV and you're calling out the wrong thing, they'd be like, this guy
a no ball, but you are the whole story for them.
So whatever you say, they're just going to have to take us fact.
Now, didn't you say the other shows are also doing games?
Like, did you hear any of those other shows?
They get played by play guys.
They didn't give us more.
Oh, okay.
So that's the thing.
These other shows are doing it, but they
got play-by-play guys for some reason they didn't give us one so yeah i mean the game right before
us is a show so that louisville toledo games being called by evan cohen and freddy coleman but
they got chris carlin to call play by play we don't have anybody like that feels like a setup i
smell a setup here maybe it is but i'm going to put it in their face the thing i have to do this is
the part that's difficult for me ryan this was the advice tom said he was like go slow
he was like there's a lot of time go slow like i talk fast i talk very fast i think you're going
to hear me be a lot slower tomorrow because it'll fill up more time yeah right you know what i
mean because i don't have enough stuff to talk as fast as i normally do so talk slow especially like
you just said like before the play you know go slow sitting it up go slow that's exactly right
and i have facts about hattiesburg and bolling green the bad sign will be though if we're
halfway through the second quarter, Drew, and I've used all of them.
All your facts.
Do you want a close game so you have something to talk about football-wise or a blowout so you can talk about random things?
I want a game that goes quick.
That's the key.
I think I'd rather have a blowout because then Ryan and I can just talk about other.
Ryan, excuse me, Myron and I can just talk about other things.
That's where you guys, your expertise, you know, off-the-cuff stuff.
I think a close game, which is important, bleeding into prime time is what I, is.
not necessarily what I'm looking for.
What do you think about Ed Cooley throwing a water bottle into the stands at the end of the game
and hitting a child drill?
I saw that.
You shouldn't throw the bottle ever, but why is he throwing a line drive into the seats just too behind him?
At least put some arch lob it a little bit so it'll get up in the air.
I mean, he just threw a missile right at the kid and hit him in the chest.
I think the kid took a little bit of a dive.
I think they said something about maybe a concussion.
I don't think it hit him in the head, but that's what you want to do in that movie.
They didn't say concussion, did they?
Yeah, I think, I think mom is claiming concussion on that.
Wow.
Wow.
I didn't hear that.
Mom is, well, so is that set up for a lawsuit, you think?
Sounds like it.
If she's claiming concussion from getting hit with a water bottle like that.
So he was on the road, right?
That was a road game.
I'm not sure where it was.
Because they played.
I can't remember who they played.
They lost.
Was he a savior?
Xavier, you're right, it was Xavier.
Yeah.
It was Xavier.
Yes.
And Xavier's bad, too.
And where that family was sitting, they were like two seats behind the bench.
Is that a booster or a parent?
Like, that wasn't just average seats.
Good point.
He would almost have to know those people, I would think.
Wow.
So he's going to be suspended, right?
You can't be throwing water.
I think so.
Yeah, got to.
Especially if it was full, that could be really heavy.
You know?
Yeah, where did you think it was going to land?
Like, there's a high probability you're hitting someone when you turn and throw it in the crowd.
Yeah, not throw it at the ground.
He threw it in the crowd, knowing it's going to hit somebody.
Really, really dumb.
Who's next?
Ed is up next.
Ed, go ahead, Ed.
Hey, Matt.
Three points.
First point.
With J-Lo running the offense, as long as he's healthy, I don't think we need to worry about shooters.
We've got plenty of good shooters.
They'll get good shots if they're running the offensive way it needs to run.
I hope you're right.
I hope you're right about that.
I think that's very possible.
We need more games to figure it out.
But go ahead.
Second thing.
Second point.
Just wait till Jane Quaintance shakes off the rest and gets in game shape if you think
you look good Saturday.
That's true.
You're exactly right about that.
10 and 8 in 15 minutes in his first game.
It does make you excited about the future.
What's your third?
Matt, don't sweat doing this football game, buddy.
You just be you.
Have fun.
Be you.
Don't try to overthink it.
And I've got to do this and that.
Just be you, Matt Jones, and you'll do great.
That's very nice of you.
Thank you.
Part of the nervousness is for the, I've worked it.
I'm just, you know, I'm being honest.
I've worked at ESPN for eight years.
no one knows who I am there
and for the very first time in those eight years
there started to be conversations
where like people that matter now know who I am
and I think they've put us on this
as like
all right
let's see what these guys can do
and that's part of what makes me nervous
because if they put us on something that's like
in my talent set
I'd be like bring it on
but they're putting us
something that I've never done and that really isn't in my talent set.
But I feel like I need to do well because there are people paying attention to us that have never done that before.
And so that's why it's a little bit nerve-wracking.
Just being honest.
We'll take a break.
Be right back.
KSR.
Welcome back, Techie Sports Radio.
Ed Cooley has been suspended for one game.
Apparently hit a kid, Ryan, that was a kid that was part of the Georgetown
boosters.
So that probably keeps them from getting sued, but probably also doesn't help.
Yeah.
The fact you hit a kid, regardless who the booster is, mama ain't going to be happy.
All right.
I don't know if I would call this.
This isn't breaking news, but it's probably breaking scuttlebutt.
Do we have a sound for breaking scuttle butt?
Would you like to create one, Drew?
What's a breaking scuttle butt?
sound.
Wani Nana.
It's like halfway there.
Like, do it as a question at the end.
Wani Nana?
Wani Nana.
I like that one.
Joe Tipton
of On 3 Sports
writes on KS Board
that Kentucky is considering
bringing in a point guard
to be a backup
mid-season.
Wow.
And then it would
and Jacob Polichick adds
if it
happens, it would likely be an international
player.
What do we think about that?
The moment Lowe
got hurt, I said the next day, someone
should already be on a flight to Europe
looking for anyone that wants to play
college basketball. I know you worry about
chemistry concerns and you've got
Jasper Johnson there who thinks he could be
the guy, but I like the idea of
trying to find help because Lowe, as we saw,
is just so fragile and that would
derail the season if you lost him.
So would you do that, Ryan? Would you bring in a
person from, you know, Slovenia or something halfway through the year?
I don't know, man.
That's tough to bring him in the middle of the year when you've got guys who've been battling
since the summers.
I mean, who's playing backup point guard now?
I don't like the Denzel Aberdeen experience, but I do like the Jasper Johnson experience.
I would go with him.
You just like him, though, because you've known him since he were a kid.
Like, I mean, I say that with love to you, but what has Jasper Johnson done to show he's a backup point guard at Kentucky?
right now. I mean, I want Jasper Johnson to play because I like Jasper Johnson as a player.
But do you really trust him to run this team if Jalen Lowe gets hurt?
I'd trust him over anybody else we got at this moment as the point guard.
Which is why we might want to add somebody. I think he's still, he may be second on the team
and assists in very limited minutes. He can still do that part of it as a point guard.
Okay, so let's do this then. Let's maybe do a, well, but that's pretty important.
Let's do a vote.
Would you rather have them go get an international guy or rely on Aberdeen, Chandler, and Johnson going forward?
Drew.
I would say add someone.
Even G League.
I mean, somebody was a USC?
Somebody just added a player last week.
Well, regardless, I would love a backup plan if they can get one.
Ryan, you would say stick with what we got.
I would.
Yes.
Okay.
I say go get somebody.
What would you say?
Let's do a text machine vote here.
That's a good idea.
That's a good idea.
So, 7-7-4-7-4-5-254.
Would you rather stick with what we got or try to bring in, because we got two weeks off here, try
to bring in a mid-season guy to be the backup point guard?
Really good question.
772-7-4-5-25-4.
Who's up next?
Cadence is up next.
Cadence.
Go ahead, Cadence.
What's up, guys?
I got two days to say.
All right, first thing.
Matt, I think you're going to do great tomorrow personally.
You've probably been doing this for a while,
so I think it'll just be natural when you start.
And then...
Thank you.
A second thing I want to say is that we need to probably bring in an international guy
because what I think is that Jasper Johnson is a really good player.
I think he, I mean, we saw him play like high school and OTE and all that,
and he was really good.
But I think that he's going to have to take some.
from time to develop into a point guard like we need him to be in college.
So it's going to be a different thing for him.
But also, if we bring in an international guide, they'll have the experience.
Playing in Europe is a different animal deploying here.
And so I just think it might be better for the team.
Yeah, I appreciate the call.
I'd like to, I just think more options give you.
I mean, I think we've given, I guess I would look at it like this, Drew,
we've given the Aberdeen Chandler thing about as much, it's just not,
working. You know, I do think there's an argument that if Lowe didn't come back, the next option
would have been, let's just go with Jasper Johnson see what happens. But I don't know, man,
true freshman. This team has got so much talent in other places that I'd rather just have
somebody that I thought could unlock it. And we got a little taste of what it could look like
when everybody thought Lowe was done when he went to the tunnel. And what they have 25 points at
halftime. I mean, they were taking horrible shots. That was some of the worst offense we've seen
all year. And luckily, they turned it on in the
second half. But if that's what it's going to look like
if you don't have low, I just think you need another
body to help out.
Do you worry about you?
Go ahead.
You may lose some of the locker room if you bring in somebody new here
at Christmas. These guys have been battling.
I mean, you're losing the guys that aren't
playing if you do that.
Right.
Do you take that change? I mean, who are you losing?
Like, seriously, who are you?
Like, what happens if you do that?
You know,
I think Aberdeen's minutes go down, Jasper's minutes go down,
Colin Chandler's minutes go down?
but none of those guys have been good.
If they were good, we wouldn't need them.
I mean, how long do we have to sit and wait for Chandler to make shots?
Right?
I mean, I love the kid.
He's a three-point shooter going, you know, most of the season.
But he wouldn't, he didn't shoot, did he shoot one against St. John's?
Uh, O of one.
I don't know, man.
I mean, like, it's not like we've been killed.
Listen, if Jalen Lowe plays, I guess.
I would look at like this. If you promised me
we had Jalen Lowe for the rest of the year, then Drew, I would say
we don't need to go get anybody. But we've got to plan for the
contingency that he could get hurt, right?
Yeah, this team has the ultimate goal that they're still trying to reach.
And Chandler, Aberdeen, and Johnson all had several games in the
non-conference against teams ranked 250th to show that they can be a primary
ball handler and lead the offense. And none of them really got it going in the
opportunities they had so far.
Yeah.
I mean, it depends on who it is, but that's a Wani, nah, nah.
And we'll see if it ends up happening.
What's next?
Rick is up next.
Rick, go ahead, Rick.
Yes, sir.
Merry Christmas.
Everybody.
Merry Christmas.
Somebody to poke on it about the interview after the game with Lowe and JQ.
JQ thanked every one of his trainers for getting him back.
Yes, they did.
I thought it was awful nice.
I did too.
I thought that was good.
Lowe finally figured out what Catalina was.
He said he was asking in the motel, what do you mean,
Catalana?
He said, after this, I figured out what it is.
He said, we've got the best fan base in any sport.
I hadn't heard nobody speak on it today.
Yeah, you're right.
He said both those.
Both those comments were very cool.
I appreciate the call, Rick.
It was nice that Pope brought up drew the trainers.
as in the post game because they had gotten both those guys back on the court.
And then it was, it did feel like Lowe was almost like, oh, this is the UK fan base.
Yeah, he got a nice wake up with that.
And then I liked with the training staff, they like stood behind Quaintance and Lowe during the press conference,
wearing mashing shirts, almost like they were part of the entourage.
It was neat for them to get their moment because they've been getting a lot of criticism
with how banged up this team's been.
But they were huge in getting Quaintance ready ahead of SEC schedule.
Probably 90-10, Ryan, to bring somebody in.
And I can see why they say that.
I just have other worries if they do that.
It sounds like you have a worry, though, a specific one.
Yeah, I mean, we just got over some locker room issues.
I don't want to start some more locker room issues, you know?
But if we already had locker room issues, what's it hurt?
We're not breaking something that was already to get.
That's true food.
I mean, but let's say we don't do it.
And on January 19th against Mississippi State,
lows out for the year.
Aren't you going to wish you had done it?
If he's better than what we've got,
it'd be hard to argue that for sure.
Yeah.
859-280-2287.
I got one thing Kentucky fans I think I would like for you to do.
I'm told through the grapevine
that our friends at Sissy Cakes are being negatively bombed
by Louisville fans on Google.
Oh, that's messed up.
Google on Louisville, or excuse me, on Google, Louisville fans are leaving negative reviews on Sissy Cakes just to get at the fact that Will Stein's the coach.
We have to counter this, okay?
Will Stein's mom, she came on this show, so nice.
She brought cakes to the bar.
We're even considering selling Sissy Cakes at the bar after Christmas, like during games and stuff.
But more importantly, Google reviews can have a huge impact on people's business, especially fake ones.
So I'm asking Ryan for UK fans to counter the Louisville bombing with positive bombing so that we don't allow Louisville fans to ruin the good name of the sissy cakes.
I'm going to do it during the commercial break.
I'm going to leave a very positive review for them.
Drew, do you agree?
Yes.
I'm going to leave a positive review, but this also, we'll get it back with our reviews, but this is messed up by Louisville.
This is a local business right by Trinity, which you all adore, and you're going to try to tear them down just because Will Stein took a job.
Shame on all of them that have done that.
Shame on all of them. Shame on them.
Shame. And I've had a cake, and it was good. I don't even like cake, and I thought it was good.
So, yes, we're going to fix that sissy cakes. And Louisville fans, you should be ashamed.
I support your local Louisville businesses, even the ones that.
that don't take, they only take cash like body and clots.
That guy's not even nice.
So Will Stein's mom is nice.
You should be ashamed.
We'll take a break.
Very back.
It's KSR.

The holidays are full of hustle and bustle.
but UK federal credit union believes in slowing down to find the joy in the season,
whether that's sharing a meal with friends, giving back to those in need or embracing loyal loved ones.
Be the joy around Kentucky.
It's UK credit union, the official credit union of joy.
It is UK credit union.
Membership eligibility required, federally insured by NCUA.
I'm told by people that on the Google reviews, you don't want to give them all at once.
because people then, like, they look at it and say that, you know, they think it can be fraudulent.
So spread it out over the holiday season.
Uh-huh.
Okay.
So don't put them all right now.
And maybe even better go get it.
Or if you've had it, talk about what you've done.
But don't do it all at once.
They'll be less likely to consider them.
That's what I'm talking.
Yeah, they'll flag that and throw them all out.
I'll wait and do mine on Christmas morning when I'm feeling most festive.
Yeah, wait and do years over a course of time.
No reason to do it right now.
spread it over the course of the next week.
You can think about it and do it.
How about that?
Right, you haven't done your yet.
But let's make sure we do it.
I did mine on Yelp.
I haven't got to Google yet.
Well, take your time then on Google.
Yeah.
Somebody sent me some of these.
These Louisville fans are mean.
I don't like them.
Boo.
You mean, you tell you what I wrote here on Yelp?
I mean, if you must.
Yeah.
Sissy Cakes is awesome.
They're like a five-star quarterback.
They're kids.
cakes are so, so, so, so good.
It's like Walt Disney World in your mouth.
I love them.
You will too.
It's like what?
Walt Disney in your mouth?
Yeah.
Oh, delete that.
No, it's our too late.
It's already posted.
You did.
You at least put World at the end.
You didn't just say Walt Disney.
I said Walt Disney World, yes.
Oh, world.
Okay.
Big word there.
That's a big difference.
Mike, first of all, just stop with your, like, stop.
That's how I feel about when I eat.
I just don't feel like, why do you have to say mouth?
Because you eat in your mouth.
But with you, it doesn't say, Drew, am I wrong with him?
Walt Disney World in your mouth sounds gross.
He did find a way to make a simple review of a cake shop.
It seemed a little risk.
It's uncomfortable.
That's what he does.
All right.
Chicago Bears made the playoffs Saturday night with one of the most exciting.
How did they win that game?
How in the world?
did they win that game?
I don't know, but it was awesome.
And the pass from Caleb Williams in overtime, that might be the most exciting win of my
lifetime.
I mean, you know, they won the Super Bowl.
Well, why are you laughing?
What's a better one?
I mean, they won the Super Bowl, but they won it like 46 to 10.
Like, that game wasn't close.
Yeah.
And I was a little kid.
So I can't think of a more exciting win in my lifetime.
Well, they were down 10 with like two minutes to go and somehow ended up winning the game
and overtime.
Got the onside kick.
He made that crazy throw
in regulation where he threw off his back foot
to the back of the end zone.
Yeah.
And then the bomb at the end.
Wow.
How could you not say it was the best?
I thought it was awesome.
I was practicing calling that game and I yelled.
With everything at stake,
I mean, you get the onside kick and then on that fourth down,
it was an all-out blitz,
and he's back pedaling and just makes the perfect throw
to get the touch.
town. I'm a neutral observer and I've really gotten into the bears this year. They're a fun
young team that I think can really contend.
When I call these games, by the way, when I call these games, I don't know all these players
on the teams, so I just give them your all's names. Might as well. So I'll be like, you know,
Mateer throws to Drew Franklin six yards. You know, like I do that because I don't know their
names. So you all have caught a lot of passes in the last few days.
How about the heaters on the Packers' sideline just happened to go out?
It's seven degrees out of the week, week.
Things break, okay?
Okay.
Yeah, not on the bear's side line and the Packers side line.
Well, that one was fixed.
I don't think the bears should have to be cold just because the Packers are cold.
Just have to go out.
There's no reason.
This is not communism.
We don't all have to be the same temperature.
Who's up next?
Dallas is up next.
Dallas.
Go ahead, Dallas.
all right hello i just was uh listen to your remarks about you being nervous about your radio
uh debut um i have a suggestion for you if i may give it to you you can ignore it of course
but uh if you are able to you could possibly give tom hammond a call i think he has quite a story
about when he first called the olympics for nbc or a bc or whoever
whatever it was and about how he knew absolutely nothing about the sport that he was going
to be calling on Worldwide Olympics at that time.
Yeah.
And then I think that would, he might have some advice.
He might not.
I don't know.
I think it's a good idea.
That's a good idea.
Wise from Middlesbrough.
I have one of us.
Yes, quickly.
Go ahead.
Yeah, go ahead.
Okay.
I suggest to you that I'm only mainly a TV watcher.
of sports, but I suggest to you that when you're calling the game, you call the game.
Nobody really cares if you or your partner played college football somewhere or whatever.
They just want to hear about the game itself and the players.
That's the way I feel about it.
I understand that.
Appreciate the call.
I will probably have to talk about other things because I don't know enough about the actual game.
Again, the difficulty for me is not knowing football.
I think I know enough to get through it.
The difficulty is literally the mechanics of calling a game.
That's what makes me nervous.
It reminds me when, Ryan, you start on television.
It's not being entertaining that was hard for me.
It was literally reading off the teleprompter.
Right?
Like, I'd never done that before.
I ended up having to just stop doing it because I wasn't good at it.
I think maybe after a quarter of you, you'll settle in a little bit and find your groove
and figure out, well, you know, what's working.
Yeah, we'll settle in like Jalen Lowe did, right?
Just settle in.
Settle in.
And then we'll start doing our thing.
Draft Kings.
Let's pick a couple games.
Go to draftkings.com, bet $2.5.
And if you win, you'll get $300 in bonus bets.
Let's start with the famous Idaho potato bowl.
Washington State and Utah State.
Who you got, Ryan?
Let's go Washington State.
Why not?
Washington State.
What about you, Drew?
Let's go Washington State.
I still feel bad their conference left them. They need some happiness.
I'm going to take Utah State.
You know, their former coach is Blake Anderson, the current coach of Southern Miss,
just in case anybody.
There you go. What a little tidbit.
I mean, probably everybody knew that, but now I know it, so that's good.
Monday Night Football, 49ers at Colts, Old Man Rivers at home in a must-win game.
Drew, does he win, does the 78-year-old quarterback get the victory?
You know what? I'm so excited to watch this, and I'm a Colts hater.
Even though it sounds crazy, I think they get the win, and he looks even better
than he did last week.
Colts get the win and he throws the over.
Whatever the overrunner is, he goes over.
49ers win by 30 and he is having, he hobbles off the field after getting injured in the
second quarter.
That's probably the most likely result.
I'm just telling you, I think that unfortunately is the most likely result.
Tomorrow during your old's post game show, I will call in from the booth because it'll
be right before we're starting.
Perfect.
The Bellerman game is at 1 o'clock.
The pregame show starts at 1030, but really just the show starts at 10.
The bar will open then.
We'll have breakfast.
Go see those guys and enjoy the game.
Have fun at Rupp tomorrow.
And I actually will not be back on the air until after the first of the year.
So because the week after Christmas, I'm off.
You guys have a happy holidays.
Merry Christmas to everybody.
And thank you very much, all of you in 2025 for your prayers for my family.
It means more than you know.
Enjoy your Christmas.
Go cats.
We'll see you later.
