Couple of things here before we go the phones.
859-2-80-22-87.
Duke beats Louisville last night.
Louisville came out hot, was up 13.
Duke ends up winning by 13.
Duke looked really good.
Louisville kind of fell apart there at the end.
Yeah, Louisville came out looking good.
They were still by nine, I think, at halftime.
They went in the second half.
But Boozer and that Evans kid, they're for Duke.
They are really, really good.
Their point guard was killing them.
But Boozer's good.
Boozer's amazing.
There's some freshman.
Have you watched the kids?
kid at BYU play yet? I've not.
DeBanta. Have you guys watched AJ DeMontza
play? He scored over
20 points a game in seven straight games.
He is
the number one pick and it's not even
close and you can't help but
think because we were going after
him. He ends up going to
BYU. You can't help think, man, what
if he had ended up here? He is
like people aren't getting in scene
play because he plays at BYU but they will.
You will as the year gets going.
He is the real deal. And Boozer
is not quite as good, but he's still really good.
Boozer for a big man can step outside and hit the outside shot.
I didn't think he had that in his game, but he's good.
All right, Shannon, I have a story that this is for you.
I feel like you're going to like this story.
Have you read about the guy Ebo Enoch in Ghana?
Well, it might surprise you, but no, I have not.
Anybody read about the Ebo Enoch in Ghana?
All right, you probably didn't hear this, but if you lived in Ghana, you would know about it.
All right.
Ebo had been predicting for months that on Christmas,
day, God was going to make a massive flood hit the world, and like Noah, was going to end the world.
Wow.
And so he asked his followers over the course of two years to give him millions of dollars to build 10 arcs.
Okay.
Because unlike Noah, he wasn't going to have one arc.
He was going to have 10.
He was going to have 10.
He was going to have a fleet of arcs.
And so, you know, a lot of people gave him money.
People came from all over the world because he said, if you want to be on the ark, be here on Christmas.
Comes out that he buys Mercedes with his money, which you wouldn't think you would need.
On the ark?
Well, the floods happen, you think all the roads are going to go away.
Shannon, you probably wouldn't need a Mercedes.
You wouldn't think.
No, no, no.
But he apparently thought he needed a Mercedes.
All right.
So, this is kind of sad.
hundreds of people show up at this place on December 25th
with their belongings
to get on the yard
of course you may or may not have seen the news
the world did not flood on December 25th
it was probably sunny
breaking news
we got through it
people were
understandably angry
he addressed the crowd
and would you like to know how he explained the fact
that the world did not end.
I can't wait to hear this.
He said that over an intense 48-hour period,
he had prayed to God and talked God into putting it off.
Oh, please.
These people probably believe that, too.
People bought every word of it, did they?
No, they're mad.
Okay, good.
Ghana, the prosecutors in Ghana,
have charged him with fraud,
arrested him,
and charged him with fraud for misleading people,
people and ruining some people's lives who picked up everything they had to come to get on this arc.
And he is now being prosecuted for fraud.
So here's my question for you.
Clearly, his prediction was not correct.
Spoiler alert.
Do you believe Ebo Enoch, not Ebo Walker, Shannon?
That's a good guy.
Ebo Walker was left Kentucky.
He was a mighty fine fiddle play.
That's right.
Not Ebo Walker.
This is Ebo Enoch.
Do you think he should be prosecuted for fraud?
I think it is the true definition of fraud.
Fraudently had these people donate the money, and he took it.
He did apparently build the arcs.
Built ten of them?
I haven't seen the pick.
I know he at least be one.
I don't know if he got ten or not.
I have money left over for nine other ones.
But I do think he at least got one arc.
But go ahead.
I think this just wreaks of fraud.
So yes, I'm glad they're prosecuting him, and I hope he sits a long time in jail.
What about you, Shoe?
Yeah, it's fraud, but it's also.
I mean, shame on these idiots. He spent all this money on a stupid heart on a guy that had no idea if it was going to rain or not. Didn't know when the world was going to end. It's kind of on these idiots for showing up on Christmas Day and giving them all their money. What do you think about his decision when it doesn't happen to say he talked God out of doing it?
Dude, the fact that he even showed up, I would have been long gone after I got their money. There's no way I would have been there to address the crowd. No way.
I thought you would think that that was a clever retort by him.
No.
No, okay.
They're dumb enough to believe that, too, though, I guess.
Or you said they're mad, so maybe not.
As Christmas started approaching, he had to start thinking to himself, okay, how am I going to get out of this?
How am I going to BS my way through this one?
Well, you had to know the day of reckoning was coming, literally.
For him.
Maybe not for humankind, but for him.
Well, I will try to keep you up to date on how the prosecution goes.
But everyone agrees should be prosecuted.
Yeah.
And so should those people, they should be prosecuted, maybe check their brain.
Well, I mean, I will say, though, Shannon, like, most religions when they started, people thought the people that believed them were crazy.
Christianity included.
People thought those people were crazy who believed in the resurrection of a human being.
so like i mean i'm not obviously this guy wasn't correct but like i think it's i think it's harsh to
say people are being dumb because that's what people said about the start of virtually every
religion but why is this guy special why does he know why does he have like a
well that's what people would have said to jesus and well why do they know that's what they said to moses
yeah that's what they said to moses though well clearly not but
I'm just saying the idea that it's crazy that people would fall.
What makes the fraud so bad to me is that human beings fall for these things,
but there was a time if you're a Christian, you believe that it was true, right?
Yes.
I just think sometimes we're very harsh to people like, oh, their religious story is insane.
Well, I mean, if people thought that about ours.
Yeah.
Right?
You know, this happens throughout history where, you know, Jim Jones and these people,
get these people to follow them and believe in them.
And they do.
It's wholeheartedly believe them.
I don't know how much you've ever read.
Did you ever, I think we've talked about the movie, that Jim Jones movie.
Yeah.
Y'all remember that?
If you ever get a chance to see that movie, that's still one of the freakiest movies I've ever seen.
Yes.
It was a TV movie.
It was like a documentary, wasn't it?
Well, there are documentaries.
That's what I saw.
There is a TV movie out there that I saw when I was young,
that I would love to see again to see if it would freak me out.
is what I was young.
It was a movie about those people that went to Jones Town.
All right.
Did you say you've seen it, ma'am?
The scene where they drink the Kool-Aid,
I can see it in my head right now.
When he's sitting there and he's on the microphone
and he's saying over the PA,
telling people to come down and drink,
and he's talking to the women and he's talking to the kids,
and it's the sad, and it's long.
It's like 30 or 40 minutes long,
show everybody doing it.
And then I know the guy that went to trancy.
Ned Beatty plays the congressman who comes down and gets shot.
I've seen that.
Have you seen it?
Yeah, I've seen that.
If that's on a streaming service, I would not the documentaries.
This is a dramatic movie, but it's really good if I remember correctly.
Yeah, they accurately try to portray how it went down.
But you can see, like, how people...
I don't know how they fall for it and become such believers, but they do.
Yeah. All right, completely switching gears.
Wes Miller, the coach at Cincinnati.
Did you,
Cincinnati fans are mad at Wes Miller.
They don't think he's done a very good job,
and they're kind of tired of his words.
So on the post-game radio show,
after their most recent loss,
which I think was last night, he spoke.
I just want you to listen to this
and listen to how it played out.
Go ahead.
Coach Miller has,
joined us now courtside here in Morgan Town. Coach, I feel for everybody in that locker room right now.
You did a great job. Don't feel. Don't feel for us. We get to come out and play basketball.
I don't care about the noise, Dan. I don't care. I don't care what people think. I only care about my team.
And I care about my program. And you know what? It's almost comical. We'll get a break. We just got to stay together and stay real. And it's us against the whole world. We know that. We're going to get a break. We're going to keep going. Period. Period. Period. I'll answer any questions you guys want.
Everybody can quit on us.
Everybody.
I hear it.
Everybody.
Go ahead.
Us against the world.
It felt like a little overreaction there, didn't he?
I think it was.
The announcer just goes, well, I feel bad for it.
And he just starts ranting about how nobody believes in him.
And all the fans can quit and that's fine.
Like, what was that about?
I didn't think coach was supposed to listen to the noise.
He's obviously.
I think that was a little bit of an overreaction to what seemed like a, hey, man, tough loss.
That's against the world.
You don't want to root for us.
Fine.
Get out of here.
We don't want you.
and we're going to play us against the world.
When coaches start seeing the fans as the enemy, they're done.
That's it.
I'm going to go ahead and make a prediction.
I don't know anything about the situation at Cincinnati,
but Wes Miller, by the end of the year,
I wouldn't be surprised if he's not to coach.
His days are numbered.
The moment you see the fan as the enemy, you're out.
The fan is your customer.
That's right.
The fan is your customer.
The day you start hating the fan is the day you are done
because he is your customer, he or she.
How many times do we say we,
we were here long before you were here.
We're going to be here long after you leave.
You think Cincinnati, how long's West Miller been there?
Two, three years.
If that, it hasn't been very long.
When you start saying it's us against the world
and us does not include the fans,
you are about to leave.
Yeah.
You need to win the fan base.
Because the fans are the us.
Yep.
Right?
And I think that coach, I think he's messing with that.
Who's next?
Josh.
Josh, go ahead, Josh.
Hey, I got a question.
Do you think Mark Pope should borrow Stein's GM?
And also, do you think that, yeah, and that's it?
No, I think, so he's asking for people here who can't hear the question.
He's asking if the basketball GM situation should be like the football,
and I appreciate the call.
The football is much harder.
A lot more people.
A lot more people.
A lot more people.
Very small time frame.
You got to get players in like seven days.
And in this case, our coach is in Oregon right now.
So I think the GMs, the guy from Oregon, who's name, what's his name?
The head coach?
Will Stein, you mean?
No, I'm talking about the GM.
Oh, I can't think of his name.
We got this guy from Oregon.
Pete, maybe.
Anyway, there's Pete Nocta, who's from Louisville, sorry.
And then there's a guy that was more correct.
Anyway, those two guys deserve a heck of a lot of credit.
That's a hard job.
Now, does Mark Pope need a GM?
I would argue yes.
Not so much because there's that many guys, because there's not.
You only have to get a handful.
Because I think it's become clear that whoever's making those decisions right now
is not doing a very good job.
So I just think he needs someone.
Do I think it's possible for a coach to also be a GM?
Yeah, but I think Mark in the portal, I think they misunderstood how much people were worth.
I don't think they did a good job of valuing players, and we obviously have talked about the
recruiting issue, so I do think he needs a gym.
There was kind of a guy that when Cal was here kind of acting in that role, it seemed like
I thought he did a good job.
The thing about Cal is most of his recruits were coming from high school, and he already
showed he could do that, although he too didn't necessarily always make the grade.
greatest decisions on those. But I like Mark, but I think Mark needs help on this. I think it's clear.
Why is it not clear? You know what I mean? I mean, we saw it. We overpaid for guys.
Yeah. In today's world, you think he, with the way he looks at analytics, he really understands
the value. I think he doesn't like to give up control. You can hear it by what he says.
Well, we're looking for the right guy. You can pick the wrong guy. You can sit and look for the right
guy for a year. At some point you just got to pick somebody, right? Like, he doesn't want to give up
control. And I get that. I don't like to give up control. But if you're not doing a job, well,
you've got to give up control. That's right. You know, so 859-280-2-87 cornbread hemp, Ryan.

42 or no, 4612 Shuff Avenue. They're going to have a buy one, get one free while we're there.
Oh, they are. Is that right, Shannon, before I say that? I need to look up and confirm that. I've not heard that.
I'll check during the break, but I think they are. But cornbread hemp on Friday, we're in Louisville. We don't get to go to Louisville a lot, so please come out. Yes, buy one, get one free in the facility on Friday.

Nice.
And I think that also includes those drinks.

Right, Shannon.

It is Kentucky Sports Radio.
The name of the movie is Guyana Tragedy.
And it stars Powers Booth.
That's the guy.
Powers Booth plays Jim Jones.
I'm telling you.
It's a long movie.
But that last 45 minutes, like I saw it when I was like little, like when I was like 10.
And I can still remember.
I can still picture him.
Like somebody just showed me the movie poster.
I could have told you he was wearing that white shirt with an open.
like that.
I can still remember.
Ned Beatty plays the congressman.
I forgot Randy Quaid was in it.
James Earl Jones is in it.
I don't remember who he plays in it, though.
But I remember the big vat of Kool-Aid.
Yeah.
Because that's where the phrase, you know, drink the Kool-Aid comes from.
And, like, the visual of, like, him giving it to the kid.
Like, I can, I remember it very well.
So you can rent it, apparently.
It's not streaming free, but you can.
I've seen it at some point, because I remember when you, as soon as you said,
Ned Betty, I remember him being in it.
Yeah.
859-280-2287.
A couple open lines.
Give us a shout.
The playoff is tomorrow.
You're excited about it?
I am.
Yeah, I've enjoyed this.
I love the fact that there's the final four,
and there's no Georgia, Alabama, Ohio State, Michigan.
Does that make it any worse for you, though?
I mean, it's Ole Miss, Indiana,
or, excuse me, Ole Miss, Miami, and Indiana, Oregon.
Not exactly sexy names.
I mean, does that make it any worse for you?
It makes it better for me.
I'm tired of seeing, you know, the same teams over and over and over and
It's good to see some new blood in the final four.
But if the championship game is, let's say, Old Miss, Indiana,
are you going to be excited about that, or would you rather it be Miami, Oregon?
Definitely the star power with Miami, Oregon.
So with Indiana, Ole Miss, I'm still exciting.
I think Indiana, Ole Miss would be better because you got one team with no head coach
and the other team about to go undefeat it for the first time ever.
What does it say about Lane Kiffin if Old Miss wins without?
That's true.
I mean, that would be a better storyline.
I mean, it would be interesting if they win without him.
I find myself pulling for that same reason, just to kind of stick it in his crawl that that's my team and they're winning without me.
I thought they're going to fall apart with me.
If you're an LSU fan, would you be like, wait a minute.
You know.
That's still saying, brother, that's still Lane Kiffin's team right there.
Yeah, but that's not fair because, like, you always fight against the idea that that was Petino's team that won the title with Tubby.
Tubby's team.
So why is this last?
Lane's team. I'm saying probably the LSU people. That's what they're going to say.
Oh, okay. Well, do you think you think Lane Kiffin should get, I mean, if they win the title,
Lane Kiffin gets a million dollars. Does he really? Yes. His bonus is bait.
He's already gotten $500,000. He gets $250,000 for every playoff win. So he's already gotten $500,000.
If they win, he gets a million dollar bonus. He actually gets $2 million if they win the
playoff, even though he will have coached none of the games.
You know who he's pulling for to win us?
Well, that's why I'm asking you.
You think he's pulling for mercy?
Oh, yeah.
Well, but I think it's kind of a stain on his legacy, though, if they win without him,
especially if he never wins.
Let's assume he never wins a title.
And the only time a team of his ever won was when he wasn't coaching when he left them.
So would he not get a ring in that situation?
That's a great question.
Would you give him a ring?
I think you.
I mean, they give players ring.
Right.
Would you give him a ring?
God, that's a great question.
If you're Ole Miss, would you give Lane Giff and a ring?
Because they didn't even want them.
They kicked them out the door.
They said, we don't want you to coach our team in the playoffs.
Get out.
Oh, that's a great question.
And if he had a ring, would even wear it.
Yeah, what do you do with it?
You got to put it in a...
This is only one.
I think he would.
Yeah, that's a really...
Okay, you know, half the coaches decided to come back and coach this game,
but a couple of them are already at LSU.
They took off with him.
Yep.
How's that happened?
I love this guy that's taking over the program.
He seems to be like a good temperament.
He understands what he's walked into, and he's now in the final four.
If half the coaches are staying, how are you going to leave?
Well, it didn't.
Charlie Weiss Jr. is staying.
Yes.
I think the running back coach is staying.
But then like the tight-in coach and maybe the offensive line coach left.
Already left.
But they coached the last game, but they're not coaching this one.
So they stayed for half of the playoffs, but now they're not.
It's just a weird situation, man.
That's just a weird situation.
It really is weird.
Who's up next, Shannon?
Let's go to Derek.
Derek, go ahead, Derek.
Yes, first time, long time.
Who are?
What's up?
My question is, and I hate to say this.
I mean, this hurts to say, but how bad does it have to get for Pope not to be there next year?
I don't think there's any scenario absent something off the court, which I don't think would happen.
I don't think there's any scenario in which he would not be back next year.
Honestly, I think they could lose every game for the rest of the year.
And he'd probably still be back.
Would you agree with that?
I agree with that.
I just, I don't see it happening.
Yeah, I mean, it pains for me to say it.
I mean, he's a legend, you know, love him here, but it just seems like off the court, on the court, it's something to miss, you know.
But the season's not over, too.
I think, I mean, it's important to remember.
I mean, he has one full season.
We made the Sweet 16.
And I also would not.
And then, you know, this season, there's still a lot to go, and it is a manageable schedule.
I mean, when the season is over, let's think about it like this, sir.
When the season's over and we rank what were the hardest games Kentucky played,
there's a good chance we've played, like, five of the seven hardest games we'll play we've already played.
Yeah.
the way the SEC is this year.
I mean, we've already played Gonzaga, Michigan State, Louisville, at Louisville, at Alabama.
At Alabama.
I think there's a decent chance you could argue.
At the end of the year, you throw in maybe at Tennessee, at Arkansas, at Tennessee.
And that's it.
Florida's not been great so far.
No.
So, you know, I appreciate the call.
I think you could argue there's still a lot of winners.
games ahead if we're if we play well.
Sounds like the caller doesn't want him back next year.
Are you surprised if fans have turned so fast on Pope?
A little bit.
Some of that's just society today that like we do it.
But I'm, I think a lot of that stems from people just don't kind of get him.
You know, it's a good question though.
I'm a little surprised.
We'll be right back.
T.J. Smith, personal injury attorney.
Call T.J. He'll make him pay.
Now more of Kentucky Sports Radio.

I got folks in here for lunch.
Come on out and say hello.
Dance.
Well, you don't have to dance.
You can just come to the...
Dance if you want to?
You can just come to the show.
Got my guys from Casey...
How's the food, Casey County?
Doing good.
One of the guys here from Casey County,
he told me when he was a youngster,
he got taken to the cockfighting.
Yeah.
And I said, but he said it like, well, that's the kind of thing I did when I was young.
So, like, in Casey County, you grow out of the cockfighting.
Like, when you're young, that's when you go.
Statue limitation's okay with him now?
No, it's not his fault.
Okay.
They just, they got another group down there.
They just keep getting the cockfighters.
For whatever reason, Casey County seems to be the hotbed for what's going on down there.
Mario, would you, do you know what cockfighting is?
Roosters going at each other?
Big in Kentucky.
You never been?
I'll have to take you.
Actually, I've never been either.
Would you, if somebody said, Ryan, I'm going to take you to a cockfight and you won't get in trouble.
Would you want to see it?
There's a part of me that would like to go to one of these arenas, these so-called arenas they've got around Kentucky.
How can these arenas exist and no one knows?
I know.
Well, they do know.
That's the thing.
That's the thing.
Are we saying that loosely like we call Davis Arena?
Davis Arena.
Well, let's even take Davis Arena.
I mean, we have, but we can hold 500 people in there.
A 500-seat cockfight is a lot of cockfighting.
Well, they sell concessions and, yeah.
Can we not talk about cockfighting on Wings Day?
I would not go, I would not go because I think it's, like, bad for the birds.
Yeah.
But I would be interested if you, like, in just the environment.
Me too.
And just like, who is there?
You know what I mean?
Because I'm sure it's a cast of characters.
I mean, I'm sure it's, as my mom would say, I'm sure you're amongst them, as they would say, when you're there.
And, like, I would be interested in that.
That would be fun.
Like, do you have to sign a note, non-disclosure agreement when you walk in?
That's good question.
You have to sign something?
Yeah.
Well, first of all, you can't enforce illegal contracts.
It's an elite, yeah, you don't.
Contracts for illegal activities don't.
Yeah, you have proof that you're there now.
It's your name on a piece of paper.
Yeah, you wouldn't want to sign anything.
That's right.
No.
No, that's exactly right.
8-59-2-80-22-87.
A little story to watch before we go the phones.
Washington got a quarterback.
They signed a quarterback four days ago to come play.
Yesterday he announced he was entering the portal and going to LSU.
But he's apparently already going to visit LSU.
Apparently he's already signed the contract.
And Washington reporters are saying they're going to have been,
force it.
This was coming.
It's just a question of when it was coming.
Some kids signed something.
Like, you know, because people say, how do you get these kids?
Well, you sign a contract.
What do you think will happen if they try to enforce the kid to his contract?
That's a question for you, Mr. Law Dog.
What's going to happen there?
So under the law, you can't force people to play.
So let's just use me and you.
All right.
I own a football team.
You sign a contract to play for me.
I cannot make you play.
Right.
So that's one of the rules of American law.
You can't make somebody like work.
But I can, if enforcing the contract, maybe get you to give me damages for something I've lost economically,
or I can keep you from going somewhere else.
I can't force you on the field, but I could maybe get money from you.
Or I maybe could, I certainly could keep you from playing somewhere else.
else. So that is plausible.
It makes sense because, you know, in the real estate world, you get under contract,
and the seller, the buyer wants to back out, you can't force them to buy a house they don't want to.
You cannot, yes.
But that's why they put down earnest money.
So the seller could get that earnest money from the buyer.
And this is the same thing.
I don't know what the contract says, but you could have damage provisions that even in theory,
although I think this would be hard to enforce, in theory, could make the player pay the school something.
Now, I think that's unlikely, but it's plausible.
Now, how can they keep him from playing at LSU then?
Because you, I mean, it's, when I sign a contract with IHeart, if IHart's contract exists and I don't have a,
and I have, there are non-compete clauses.
Right.
That would say, you know, it can be various amounts of time, but it might say that for six months,
if I leave, I cannot go work somewhere else.
And that's, and you could, you could, I'm sure these.
football contracts have something like that isn't it?
I didn't realize that.
Do you think they have a non-compete clause in these football contracts?
I would think almost certainly.
I mean, why have the contracts if you don't have that?
If they didn't, they sure are going to be after this incident.
I would think almost certainly they have some form of a non-compete in it during the course.
So that could hold up and it could prevent him from playing anywhere else.
Well, they've never been tested, but I would assume I don't see any reason off the top of my head legally those would not be enforceable.
I mean, I can't imagine a reason a court would say they're not enforced.
See, I've always heard non-competes, you can beat those.
Some states have rules against them.
The Biden administration tried to limit them, and then the Trump administration pulled that.
So the Biden administration was going to limit non-competes to, I want to say three months, two months, something like that,
and then the Trump administration pulled it.
But even with all that, there are still one.
that you can even force yourself to do it.
The non-competes I'm against is I fire you and then for six months you can't go work
somewhere else.
I think that's BS.
I think that's BS.
But if you voluntarily choose to leave, that's a different situation.
So I think the Biden administration's thing was to, if you fire somebody, you cannot enforce
a non-compete.
But when you voluntarily leave, yes, you can enforce them.
non-compete.
See, I got another question.
So what the non-compete standard is like three months or six months.
Well, the football season is still eight months away.
Could he still go to LSU and just not participate in any football activities, but be ready by August?
If he voluntarily says, I'm going to play football for Washington from September to December.
I am almost certain the court would say you can't go play at LSU from September to December.
If the school wants to push it.
Now, there are a couple states where non-competes are banned, which is interesting.
Yeah.
Because those schools might be at a disadvantage.
But Washington's not one of those states.
I don't know.
I don't think so, but I don't know for sure.
Who's next?
George.
George.
George.
Hey, Matt.
What's going on?
What's up?
Big fan of the show.
Real excited about Matt Stein, a little bit disenchance.
with Mr. Pope, hoping things are turning around.
But I had a little bit of information for you.
Listen to your last episode of Coverage Zero.
You brought up Shakey's Pizza.
You realize you ate at the first original Kentucky, Shakey's Pizza.
Where was that?
Bonnie and Clydes.
Oh, really?
Huh.
Yes, sir.
Yes, sir.
That's interesting.
sir they opened up in 69 70 71 used to go go there when I was in high school well there you go
well thank you that's an interesting piece of information I appreciate it that came from cover
zero I won't give all the context of it but you can listen on the episode but that thank you
that was an interesting fact who's next Tom Tom go ahead Tom oh thank you by having my call
the question I have is why does mark Pope have a call-in show when you can't talk to him
Well, I think that's a completely fair question.
I appreciate the call.
I mean, the fact that they don't take calls on the call-in show.
I take text now.
Got a text line, you can text-in questions.
It's the text-in show now.
Yeah, then it's the Mark Pope text-in show.
Now, you should take calls.
It's not a good look.
And you have a former player on for half the show.
The former player stuff.
Come on.
I mean, I give Tom credit.
I actually thought the texts he read last week or Monday were good.
I thought he read texts that were fair questions.
But you should, you know, when politicians stop doing town halls, that's a bad sign.
When coaches stop taking calls, that's a bad sign.
I just, when you are afraid or unwilling to face your constituency, as they would say in a
brother where art thou then that's not good we said pope is not just a leader of these young men
he's one of the leaders of our fan base we need to hear from him we need to we have legit questions
we need him to kind of help us get off the get off the cliff a little bit the uh the guy in a
movie is free on to be so i'm going to i'm going to watch it again i haven't seen it in 20 years
plus. But if it's on Tobe
and it's free,
then I'm going to watch it. It's long,
I think. Like I was in
high school. I can kind of remember when that was even
happened. You want to watch it? I'll watch it again.
I know I've seen it at some point.
Okay. Maybe that'll be a little
homework assignment. Movie night.
All right. I'll come to your house.
Come on. We'll watch the Jim Jones movie. You can have some big blueberry bed
from cissy cakes. Well, it's good. The only place I can get it at your
house. New Year, same house,
and that's your problem.
If the word remodel makes you think stress, surprises, and contractors who vanish, call estate renovations.
They do it differently.
You get a real designer, Ryan, who helps pick everything out and a project manager who keeps the thing moving,
whether it's small updates to your kitchen, your basement, whatever, state renovations has a big contest coming soon with KF, that's KSR.
Oh, really?
But if you mention KSR now, half off your design agreement.
That's a good call.
Half off state renos.com slash KSR.
Make sure you mention KSR.
Half off your design agreement at a state renovations.
We'll take a break.

859280-2287.
Every time we bring up cockfighting, the amount of texts I get is unbelievable.
It really is.
And fascinating facts.
One person writes, Matt, I'm not going to say which counting because I don't want to get him in trouble.
but I went to a cockfight once
and the local sheriff was outside directing traffic.
I don't doubt that story.
I don't doubt it.
I can see that, though.
Can't you?
Yes.
And it's a world in our state
that I really didn't realize was so large
until he started busting some of these facilities
were like, what? It was 200 people there?
One person writes, Matt, in Harrison County
at the biggest cemetery,
there's a big tombstone
that has a cockfighting reference.
on it that everyone in the county knows.
I want to know the reference now.
Well, it's interesting that this guy brings this up.
So yesterday, before I walked Shannon to Moondog, I walked in, I don't know what made me do this,
but you know, on Bardstown Road, there are those two cemeteries, right?
There's the cemetery.
Okay, there's a cemetery off Baxter, but there's two off Bardstown Road.
You know, there's a huge one that's called like Cave Run or something.
Yeah.
And then there's a smaller one, I think, called Eastern Cemetery.
So I went walking for just a little bit in Eastern Cemetery.
The newest headstone I saw was 1973.
That was the newest one?
That was the newest.
There were headstones back there that went to like the 1840s and 1850s.
Wow.
And it was a little, I don't know, it was a little creepy,
but it was also like
it was kind of
powerful to walk around and see these two
I mean like I just randomly
this is what I did
I just randomly saw a headstone
I was like I'm just going to go look at that person
just randomly pick one out
and I went and it was I'll even
tell you the person's name because I actually
googled their name and found
their obituary
I'm fascinated now what's the story
guy's name was John
Chrisman he was
retired gardener of Jefferson Town
who died in Danville.
He was born in 18, I think it said 1828.
Wow.
1828.
So he was born almost 200 years ago.
It's crazy.
And this is a random person.
Yeah.
And there's his headstone.
The headstone was from like 1912, still sitting there.
You can still read it.
Now, part of it was kind of sad to me, not just his, but in general, like, they're not in very good shape, a lot of them.
It's not taken care of right.
There was a really sad one of a tomb, of a big marker that clearly someone had put a lot of money into, and it had a statue of a man and a woman that was supposed to represent the husband and the wife.
And this was from like the 1920s.
And I was thinking about how much that had to cost at the time.
Yes.
And the heads of both of them had fallen off and were just laying on the ground.
And I thought, you know, these people put this up a hundred years ago,
thinking it would be like a lasting memory of all time of their family,
and now they're laying on the ground.
But I don't know what made me do it.
I just looked that person up.
But it was crazy that that cemetery, Shannon, is just in the middle of Louisville,
and it's like headstones going back 200 years.
There are cemeteries in New York that have headstones going back 450 years.
Like if you ever fly into LaGuardia,
you fly over these huge cemeteries if you've ever seen it.
And a lot of those go back to when people first came to America.
So I guess once you run out of room, you said like the newest one was 1973.
They just go out of business at that point?
That's a great question.
I'm glad you said that.
I wondered, because someone knows the answer to this.
It's full that cemetery.
There's no more space.
And it looked like to me they had sold every inch of this.
But there was also Shannon no one there.
Like there was no one working.
So it's full.
I don't think they could take another person in there.
But then what happens?
Right.
You just had a business, I would guess.
But who has the incentive to keep the place up?
You have to maintain it.
Mo the grass.
We eat around all those tombstones.
Or what?
It gets to the city?
Zombies.
Pay people to do that?
I don't remember.
We've talked about it before, and I can't remember someone told us.
But anyway, it was interesting, Channing, because that place is full.
They could not take another person, clear.
But it still exists right there.
Yeah, yeah.
You can't just let it be overgrown.
And I guess you can't, I mean, but.
Does the city take care of that?
I don't know, but you would think, does a business has no incentive to keep it up?
They've already sold all their inventory.
Yeah.
Probably falls on the city's shoulders, I would think, parks and a wreck or something, some department.
And it was open, and I got done right before 6 o'clock, and I could see they close the gate behind it.
I do.
I know a lot of people go to the Lexington Cemetery because it's so beautiful, the flowers and the trees and bloom.
Well, this one wasn't, I mean, it wasn't like, it's not broken.
down. It's not awful, but it's not
beautiful. Like there's not, it's not
they mow the grass, you can tell, but that's about it.
Yeah. So,
anyway, who's next?
Will. Will, go ahead, Will.
For you about Eddie Grand.
Yes. Is he still
involved in Kentucky football, or did he
get fired along with Sto? I think he
is technically still, I think he's
technically still on the payroll.
I don't think, I don't know that he's doing
anything, but I also
don't know that he's not.
if that makes sense.
So no one else that worked for Stoops,
I think all those people were gone,
but Eddie Grant, I believe,
is technically still on the payroll,
so I don't know.
I kind of don't think he's doing anything,
but I also don't know
because he technically worked for the athletic department,
not for the football people.
Yep, he's still on the UK athletics page.
Yeah.
So I was just interested.
So, yeah, I appreciate the call.
I think he is technically an athlete,
Eddie Graham and Athletics Department employee.
Those contracts are what?
July 1, they are kind of renewed every year.
July 1, I think it is, so maybe he's under contract until then.
Nick Rouse just sent me something.
Eastern Cemetery had a huge scandal in its history.
They reburied 48,000 bodies.
That's a lot.
48,000.
There's a documentary about it called Facing East.
Didn't we talk about something similar to this,
not that long ago.
We talked about something like this.
And it may have even been Eastern Cemetery,
but I can't remember what the details were.
It's the nation's most overcrowded cemetery, according to reports.
I can see why.
When you walk in, you can see why.
Eastern Cemetery.
Here's somebody calling in right now.
Okay, quickly.
Go ahead.
All right, Robert.
Go ahead, Robert.
You all forgot.
I don't know if you all forgot about this,
but the cemetery you're talking about is the one
with the reused graves that I used to get paid to cut the grass.
Yes, that's what it was.
You told us that, right?
Right, right.
And who pays you?
The company, the company was called Eastern Cemetery's and Crematorium.
That's what it said on the paycheck.
I cut their cemetery on 7th Street Road.
They owned the one on Greenwood, they owned Eastern.
They used up all the money.
They started reusing the grave of the old graves, and they went out of business.
They all went to jail or it was on the front page of the Terry Journal,
1980.
Yep, you're right.
Appreciate it.
Now I do vaguely remember that conversation.
All right, on that note, pregame show.
Today at 4.30 Eastern, we will be here at the bar.
Come on out and see us before you go to the Kentucky Missouri game.
Thank you all very much for coming here today.
We'll see you later.
