KS. Barr debuting its new winter menu starting today.
Nice. Does that mean the chili's coming back?
I see it is. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Chilli and there's like a new...
Casso burger.
Oh, that sounds good. I'm going to try that this week.
Uh-huh.
Because the burger's good and I like queso. It's a good combination.
Yes, it is.
You know, when you go to Chipotle,
you tell them you don't want queso, they look sad.
They give you a thing like, well, why wouldn't you want casso?
They're just holding the ladle looking at you like you don't want this?
Yeah.
I'm getting to the point that the people at the restaurants I have good conversations with.
Today was coming here, went through the McDonald's drive through to get my Diet Coke.
Guy just looked at me and said something no one's ever said to me.
He goes, you look like you have an important job.
Oh, wow.
Which I thought was very nice.
I said, I don't.
But he was, and I said, why do you say that?
And he goes, well, your car.
And he was like, you have a professional jacket on.
You are kind of dressed up a little bit today.
It's still a hoodie, though.
Yeah.
It's just one that's not as loose so it doesn't look like that.
That's kind of the thing now.
The hoodie and the sport coat for his sports guy.
Dan Orozki.
What's in the sports coat?
This is just a jacket.
Nice little coat.
It's supposed to get really cold.
Yes, it is.
It's supposed to be like 12 this week.
Saturday.
Saturday is the low as 10.
Low is 10.
Yeah.
Well, look, we play a road game.
Or no.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Tennessee.
We're away the next two.
The road swing.
So, yeah.
All right.
859-280-2287.
I, since we play tomorrow,
I think I'm going to do an ask-anything Tuesday today.
And so this is part of a general thought process I had this week,
really more last week before we beat Mississippi State.
I think the hardest time to do this show,
I've always said the hardest time to do this show is early August.
because people want to talk about football, but there's nothing to say.
True.
If you're ranking hardest times to do KSR, early August is the hardest.
The second hardest time, and thankfully we haven't had a lot of these times over the years,
is when basketball is not doing well.
There is this thought, I think, sometimes in the audience, that, you know, radio shows want
Kentucky or want their teams to not do well because you get more calls.
Now, it is the case you do get more calls when you're losing.
Especially on your postgame show.
You do get more calls with losing.
But to me, it doesn't make an easier show because the goal of this show is to entertain.
True.
I do not believe this show is at its best when people are yelling.
I think that's a common misconception.
I think most of the people listening here do not.
not want to just hear people complain all the time.
I don't.
I also think we have an audience that's about 50% casual sports fans.
They like it, but it's not, like, it's not, doesn't run their life.
They definitely don't want to hear people complain.
So when things are bad, you don't want to just sit and be negative.
At the same time, if your topic is Kentucky basketball and things are negative, what are you
supposed to do?
So I've always found those times hard.
how do you keep things lighthearted, Drew,
while also still acknowledging when things aren't going well, right?
Yeah, and our mood just as fans changes with the team,
and it's so much more fun when it's rolling to just be,
look at this dunk, look how good this person is.
And I think people have forgotten because we've had like six years
where the basketball team hasn't been great,
what it was like the 10 years before,
where like every time we were just coming in here and talking trash
about how awesome we were, et cetera.
And then that has led occasionally to a,
narrative of all the Kentucky KSR guys are so negative. Well, I mean, what do you, you know, what do you
want? So, so I was thinking going into the Mississippi State game, if we lose this game,
I can't do two months of a show of everybody just being miserable. Yeah. So what are we going
to do? And I was trying to think, okay, how do we, how do we handle this? During COVID, you remember,
we just tried to laugh about how bad we were. True. And still get criticism.
about like we did food specials where I would give you how many points we lost off of the restaurant.
I forgot about that. Which I actually thought Shannon was a pretty good deal.
Yeah. I mean, it worked out well for everybody. You saved a lot of money on food. It made people so
mad, but like we were about to close the restaurant because people were not eating out,
especially for a Kentucky game, which is when many people took out. And no one was coming out
and risking getting COVID to watch us lose to Missouri. Would you? I wouldn't.
Exactly. So I was like, okay, well, if we're going to lose anyway, however much we lose by, you get that off your bill.
And that made people really mad. And I was like, what do you want me to do? Close it. Would that make you happier?
So, you know, so that's always a fight. So today, we're going to have to talk about there is a little bad news.
Yes. But I want it to be an ask anything Tuesday because I'd like to do more than just go, ugh.
Okay?
Yeah.
One of the things I'm going to do is talk about you.
Me?
Yes.
You're looking at me?
You're looking at me?
I feel like I'm looking right.
Straight at it.
Talking to me.
You took a position yesterday that has put you distinctly in the crank class.
Absolutely.
Your position about the reporter in Jacksonville.
I went to eat.
I went to eat in a restaurant last night.
I did something I never do.
They undercooked the food.
I'm not going to say which one.
I had to send it back.
and the people were very sorry.
They were very nice.
And in trying to be sorry,
I think they were trying to figure out
how to make it up to me, Shannon.
And they were just like, man, Ryan was a jerk.
Taking the heat off of them.
Let's deflect and go to Ryan.
Ryan was really a jerk.
And it was about the reporter in Jacksonville.
Right.
That sweet little lady who said to Liam Cohen,
can I make you some soup?
Keep your head up, young man.
I hope things are okay.
And you were angry.
journalist guy. This has now become a national debate, not just about you, but in general.
Yeah. There are people, the general public is clearly on this lady's side. Clearly, 100%.
But journalists are universally on your side. Yes. Which of course, I think, is highlighting why people
hate journalists. Good point. So now you've had 24 hours. Yes. You've now seen the lady. Yes. She was on TV.
She was.
She looked sweet.
Right?
She looked like she would cook you something for homecoming.
Her name's Lynn.
What a sweet name.
Her name is Lynn.
Have you ever known a Lynn you didn't like, Shannon?
No, and I bet she wouldn't undercook your food.
Well, actually, Lynn Martin at the other radio station.
He told me I would never be able to be on the radio.
Wow.
What?
I missed on that one, didn't he?
Yeah.
I mean, I'm sure he's a fine guy, but he's a negative Lynn.
But you've had 24 hours.
Have you changed your mind, especially since the lady has also said that she's following in the tradition of black newspapers that go back to the civil war?
Yes.
So now that she said that.
It's not aging well for you.
I know.
Are you going to, is there any part of you that wants to say no?
Or are you standing firm in journal?
You've had journalists write you and take up for you.
Yes, I have.
I saw the video clip where she was sitting on the news desk and she looks like.
like the sweetest, nicest, grandma.
And she talks about the history of her job writing for this black newspaper.
She said she always goes to the press box, but she's kind of talked into going to the news conference.
I got to feeling like this.
Her first time she's been to like a postgame news conference.
Even worse, Shannon.
This lady has never gone to the news conference.
And maybe part of the reason is angry old white man Ryan gets angry at her.
Traditional journalist like Ryan.
Traditional journalist with his little piece of paper sticking out of his hat.
It says press.
We've been the first timers, Matt.
They're not inviting.
It's hard to be a first timer.
What do you do?
They look at you and they stare at you.
That's right.
It's a club.
And they're like, get out of here, stinky.
So now do you feel worse?
I remember your first one down at Tubby and I'm like, who's this guy?
You started asking really good, legitimate questions.
You didn't say, Tubby, keep your head up, keep your head up, young man.
But I would have.
He thought about it.
I thought about it because he looks sad.
So, yeah, I did get some other journalists who said she lost all credibility.
You're supposed to be objective in that situation, and she was not and didn't have any credibility.
But you know that I think that's bogus.
It is.
Because no one is objective.
Not anymore.
No, not ever.
No one is 100.
Everyone has opinions.
And people's opinions come out in their writing.
I would much prefer a journalist tell me what their opinion is.
Then act like to me they don't have an opinion.
I can then judge, like people will write me and go, this happens a lot.
Matt, you're biased about politics.
And my answer is always the same.
So are you, right?
I'm just acknowledging it.
You know where I'm coming from and you can agree or disagree,
but at least you know where I'm coming from.
I think it's much worse to have someone who acts objective and is not.
And so if this woman genuinely felt sorry for Liam Cohen,
would you rather have said nothing but, I mean,
still felt sorry for him and it came through in the writing,
You feel sorry for people.
You take up for people.
Some of the hardest parts of this job is when you go into a locker room and the dudes are crying.
It's a hard job.
But you can't act like your personal feelings.
Don't affect what you say.
Like your personal feelings towards Dane Key would, of course, affect how you would cover him.
So why not just acknowledge that?
And then people can't you do on this radio show.
Why can't she acknowledge she felt sorry for Liam Cohn?
I think she has the absolute right to do it.
I just don't know if that was the right.
moment in a post-game.
You do it pre-game?
You do it practice.
Post-game news conference, I don't know.
So you don't like that she did it in public?
Probably.
And here's another thing.
I think if it was a guy,
I think the fact that it's a female,
she gets, I think, a lot of more of support.
I think if it was a guy that did it.
Yeah.
I think people are like,
that's a grandma.
She's a sweet old lady.
She can say that.
If a guy said that, I wonder it'd be more.
Now he's listening to this show.
Now he's playing the reverse discrimination part.
poor white male just gets taken down by society.
Shannon, I think he just keeps digging up.
Ryan, can we acknowledge that this is just a bad take?
You keep your head up, young man, you're going to be good.
You're going to be okay.
You got a bright future in radio.
You keep going.
And I saw the video where Liam Cohn's like biting his lip, kind of fighting back tears.
Even nicer.
Yeah.
Liam needed that in that moment.
I just don't understand what people wanted to fill that 15 seconds.
It took further to say that.
It did not take anyone's time.
I see people saying, we're on dead.
lines. Get up with the deadlines.
No, they did not say anything about deadlines. Yes, there are people saying
deadlines. They say that press
conference people are urging because they have deadlines.
Oh, that. Her comment,
her comment did not set anyone back.
Also, it's 2026. Those
newspaper deadlines are dated in themselves anyway.
But everyone just needs to get over themselves
with press conference. I'm the guy that asked what they had for
breakfast that morning when I'm doing, I would ask the
Lynn question anyway. And it's much more
entertaining and no journalist was hurt
by that comment. But you,
it is odd to me that you,
who I would argue has maybe the biggest heart of, of anyone, certainly on this show,
but maybe of anyone I know, how you would be Mr. Angry, especially, I mean,
like, would you, would you say to that woman's face that she was wrong?
Or would you crawl under the table and give her a hug and say, keep your head up?
I would knock you guys over to crawl under the table.
I mean, I'm not going to.
And she looked like once you see her and she's just so sweet, it made me.
So did you have regrets when you saw the interview?
No doubt.
But you're sticking to the position.
I think the integrity of the post-game news conference.
Integrity of the post-game news conference.
Do you hear some of these questions people ask?
That's already a joke.
Are you really using the phrase integrity of the post-game news conference?
Yeah, it's got to be credible and you have to be objective.
And I just don't think that was the right moment.
I don't have to.
Do you agree that everyone has buys?
Oh, yeah.
And do you agree that people who act like they don't are full of them?
Sure.
Right?
Yeah.
If she is going to write a sympathetic column to Liam Cohen, wouldn't it be better just to say it?
What quote did she get from Leon Cohen?
He's biting his lip and said, thank you.
He said thank you.
She can put that at the end.
Thank you.
And he can end.
Thank you.
It's not her job to make up the quotes.
She just writes down what he said.
She's the only one to get thanked out of everybody there about it.
She's also the only one that.
got on television nationally.
Name one thing that came out of that press conference.
We now know.
And you never would have known.
We learn more about Liam.
Absolutely.
We know he has emotion.
Yeah.
We know he,
you know.
The people complaining can't name one thing from a Jacksonville press conference
all year.
They just want to care in this moment.
So I just was thinking rather than be depressed about the state of UK basketball,
Shannon just be mad at Ryan.
Yeah.
Everybody.
director angry today at Ryan Lemon.
Just be mad at Ryan.
I like that idea.
For not having a heart at this poor lady.
I do appreciate her and like her.
I just don't think that was the right moment for that.
After an NFL loss and a playoff game.
You're going to have to tell Lynn.
859-28027.

On hurdle with Emily Abadi, we sit down with the most inspiring women in sports and wellness,

From the WNBA standout Kate Martin and rising hockey star, Layla Edwards.

Shannon, one person, the text machines lit up today.
Oh, I'm sure.
One person writes, we had dark Pope after the technical, now Maga Lemon.
It's kind of true.
It's surprising that Ryan's the guy that has this tank, really.
I agree.
Of all the people, him being the one to have.
have the tape. But he is the one that considers himself a journalist. I don't know that any of the
rest of us would consider ourselves journalists in that regard. I consider myself like an opinion
person. Shannon probably doesn't even have it like Drew. What would you consider yourself?
I don't know. I'd paint my face at the press conference. Yeah. You're a fan. I'm a fan. I run a fan site.
Yeah. I don't even like saying I'm part of the media because I don't want to lump myself in with media.
Yeah, but you are. You're literally doing media right now. By default, yes. Yes. Yes.
One person writes, Matt, I hated when you ran the special where you got money off for losing.
But now that I think about it in hindsight, it was probably the right thing to do.
See, at the time, we took a lot of heat for that, but I would ask people put yourself in your shoes.
We have it.
It's right.
It's after COVID.
This is the time we need people to come in.
People are hesitant to come in and eat restaurants.
Think about all restaurants around the state that closed.
The one thing we have going for us is games and then we're losing the games.
So like, so you sit there and go, okay, well, if we do this special, if we win, everybody's going to be happy because we want.
If we lose, then they get happy because you save some money.
It's like people who bet against their team to hedge their emotion, Shannon, right?
Yeah, you're hedging your bets.
I was a great promotion.
I don't care what anybody says.
That was a great idea.
I kind of agree with you, but like, people don't look at nuance.
They just get, they just, everything has to be black and white and not to do it on something serious.
but like we talked about what happened in Minnesota.
To me, there's nuance in that, and people just take the nuance and just get rid of nuance and just yell at each other.
And, you know, I think there's nuance with that woman.
I mean, I guess you could say it's not a journalistic question, but also, you know, she's trying to be nice.
And you should want that right.
There wasn't even a question.
You're not a question.
Okay.
So, Shailen Lowe, out for the year.
year. We kind of saw this coming.
I'm bummed. My favorite player on the team, I think, you know, the upside of the team is limited
without him. It was maybe limited with him, but it's certainly limited without him. So I'm
bummed, but probably drew the right decision.
Yeah, and it's almost like I was prepared for it. The first time, I honestly didn't expect him to
give it a try. So it's like, in my brain, we got a bonus four or five games out of him.
Just the moment he had initially injured it, I was prepared for the season to kind of go this way
whenever it would actually happen.
And now that he can still maybe preserve a year with a red shirt kind of on the border there
and just look at the direction of the season.
It's the right move for him, feel bad for him.
And, you know, just another problem Kentucky's got to address here in SEC playing.
I think that's the key.
If he played one more game, Ryan, he loses his red shirt.
Now he has a chance if he wants to play two more college seasons.
If he played one more game, that wouldn't be the case.
So knowing that and knowing that he might get hurt in one more game,
I think it makes completely rat.
sense for him to do it. I give this kid a lot of respect, man. He could have just tapped
out in October when it first happened, but he tried to play. He wanted to play. Fought through a lot
of pain to get back on the court. But yeah, you hate to say it's a bad timing, but it's perfect
timing the most. If you get him back for his medical richard. One more game. One more game and he
couldn't play. Yeah. Now, I mean, do we think he'll play here?
It depends on see who Pope else brings in as a point of art. I think it'll be a pie. From what I've
heard he'd like to. I think it'll be kind of a Pope and then, you know, I hope he does. I think he's
good. And I think he can be really good for Kentucky. Sure. I also think now without him,
the team has to play differently and maybe that'll, maybe they'll find some success with it. They
cannot play a style that maybe they shouldn't have been playing to begin with, but that sort of
isolation, you know, they're going to have to go back to what Pope does because they have no chance of
winning. What worries me is teams are going to start picking us up right as soon as we cross
half court because we don't have a point card. So like they're going to, they're going to,
defenses are going to pressure us and we're going to have to find a way to handle it.
And my biggest concern was since Jasper Johnson committed, I worried about him as a freshman
in SEC play. And it's almost like he didn't get the buildup in the non-conference to get ready.
He didn't get many minutes. And now it's like, all right, here's the SEC. And I just don't know
that he's ready for that grind, especially with the physical.
and having to play defense, and he didn't get the practice against the 300th ranked team that he needed.
Which gets me to a question. Does Ryan think he's unbiased when it comes to Jasper Johnson?
I've said Jasper shoots some bad shots every once in a while.
I mean, are you unbiased in your opinion that he should play?
I want to convince he should be playing more.
But is that unbiased? Or is it because you've known him as a whole life?
I'm sure it plays into it that I've known him since he was a little kid.
But I just look at the, they tried the Colin Chandler experiment at point guard didn't work.
Denzo Aberdeen doesn't really work.
Jasper's your guy.
Jasper's still, I think he's second on the team in three-point percentage.
People think he's a bad shooter.
He's second on the team in three-point percentage.
He's like one of the best assist-to-turnover ratio we got.
I completely agree with you.
But I think that opinion, it's better to know that your opinion because we know your history
and then people can judge.
Sure.
That is my only point.
And I think you should get Lynn a sissy cake.
By the way, I've been eating those orange juice cakes.
Oh, they're great.
They're so good.
Did you take the whole box that she brought?
Don't say whole box.
You ate an entire box yourself.
I did not.
Not true.
We saved you some blueberry, big blueberry bread.
They sent some big blueberry bread.
I saved Matt like two pieces.
Actually, what I did is I saved you one.
Thank you.
I'm learning all this right now.
I have a cake for you.
Thank you.
They gave us two boxes.
Okay.
Ryan ate one entire box.
Okay.
He was hungry.
In one night.
Brought it to us, and I've got one for you.
Thank you.
but they're very, very good.
Joey, go ahead, Joe.
Yeah, guys, I was calling in about
recruiting Pope's in.
Like, if JMI is so bad,
how is Will Stein getting all these stuff?
I feel like I've answered this.
Joey, I feel like I've answered this question
probably 30 times.
I'm glad to answer it again,
but I've answered the difference
between football and basketball 30 times.
It's very simple.
And I don't know if,
the JMI thing is going to affect Pope, or if it's Pope's fault. We'll see. But football is different
because football can sign almost all of their players with RevShare, because they get $17 million
of rev share. Basketball's getting like four. So for basketball to get a team that's going to cost them
$15 million, they have to have a lot of NIL, which is where the JMI thing comes in. For football, they're
able to sign almost their entire roster except maybe one or two guys just with the RevShare.
So because of that, our ability to get a lot of NIL or not doesn't really matter because
football has so much more money to give on RevShare.
Does that make sense?
Yeah, I got you.
I appreciate the call.
I'm not saying that like anybody's to blame for basketball except Pope, but they are two
completely different situations.
and people just need to know that when they're evaluating it.
We'll take a break and be right back.
KSR.

Now, more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage.
Here's Matt Jones.
Welcome back, Tucky Sports Radio.
859-280-2287.
What person writes, Matt, on Ask Anything Wednesday, go on record without low.
Do we make the NCAA tournament?
All four of you. Shannon.
Yes.
Ryan, no.
What has happened to you?
Yeah, who are you?
Drew.
Negativity.
I'll say they sneak in.
I'm saying yes.
So once again, you're...
What has happened to you?
Like, you were always Mr.
positive.
What has happened?
Did something happen over New Year's?
I think I don't like this team.
I just don't think we're very good.
What?
I don't.
I mean, now that's even worse, Shannon.
He doesn't even like the team.
I mean, you've gone from okay,
they may not make the turn.
to you don't like the team.
What don't you like? What don't you like?
You like Jasper.
I like Jasper. You like Malachi. You like Noah.
Yes. Like Chandler. Like O.A.
You watch two of the players grow up.
Yes. What don't you like? What don't you like? You don't like Mark Pope?
The guy you used to do television with?
I think Mark Pope is a shirt on under your pullover.
I just don't think this team is constructed very well and I just don't like the way they play.
See, I'm never going to say I don't like a thing. I mean, my least.
favorite Kentucky team to watch was probably the COVID team. But I had a lot of sympathy for
BJ Boston and I liked Davian Mints. He was on that team, right? We were all going through it too.
You know, it was hard to separate life and basketball that year. But even then I wouldn't have said I don't
like the team. Yeah. I'm not fond of them. He's doubling. You need some PR coaching during the break.
This is really an unbelievable, an unbelievable. An unbelievable.
unbelievable stretch of Ryan Limondy.
What do you think about Vince and Pete Nocta?
I love it.
I love everything about it.
Pete Nocta, we get a commitment from an offensive lineman at Ohio State.
Pete Nocta digs up.
Now, for people who don't know, Pete Nocta is essentially what Vince was, although
Vince was also the tight-in coach.
Yeah.
And he was there, almost the whole time Vince was here.
I mean, he was at Louisville a long time.
Yeah, so Nocta was at Louisville when Vince was here, and then they worked together for a year at Louisville this year.
But for a lot of the time Vince was here, Nocta was at Louisville.
Nocta goes and digs up an old Vince quote where he said basically, I own Ohio, and he just retweets it.
No comment, just retweets it.
Couple years old.
A couple years old.
which means he was sitting on that one
I think he was
you think that was a good move by knocked
I loved it just a simple retweet
he didn't say anything
he might have even accidentally hit the retweet
button it happens
You think he accidentally retweeted something
Okay
So then
He
He responds
Vince responds
And what does he say
No I write
Pete Knox with a little trash talk
Shannon Vince responds
L-O-L, this is so funny.
Little Pete finally getting some confidence.
I've been beating the crap out of him for 10 years.
The streak will continue.
Strong words.
Little Pete.
Little Pete.
Wow. A little Pete.
Little Pete.
I mean, this is a guy that they work together.
Little Pete.
And Pete's like 6'5.
He's a big man.
I mean, I was shocked.
So then I tried to keep it lighthearted, Shaded.
I felt like I needed to make it.
lie hard. So I wrote, let's keep it all in good fun, my friend. We hardly know what will happen
every day because they had just lost hardly. Good. Great line. I don't think he got what I said.
He didn't. He did not. He did not. So then I tried to make it easier. I retweeted and said,
come on, we're both grown G-R-O-A-N men here. Nobody understood that one either. We all laughed,
but I don't think he got it. I thought, listen, I thought both of those were good. I thought that would
diffuse the situation.
Well, it didn't.
Last night,
he wrote, out of nowhere,
Vince writes,
some people have to suck up so they can keep their job,
L.O.L. You better stay in your place
booking hotels and restaurants.
Who's that?
That's Tenocta. Oh, to Nocta.
It's one of the things not to do.
It was he would book the hotels.
Wow.
Man, these are some strong words.
These are very strong words.
and oh did he just delete this?
Oh, he just deleted this.
Pete had responded
and I think he just deleted it.
Literally, like I saw it seconds ago and he responded.
And now it's gone.
Well, I can't read the quote because he literally deleted it.
But Nocta wrote something like the insecurity is insane in this man,
but he is now at the moment.
deleted it or if he was told to delete it.
Well, right now, I'm Vince is currently.
I saw it when I started this segment.
Why did I not screenshot it?
Because I think it's gone now.
Well, Vince is online because he's currently, as of one minute ago, writing LOL to random accounts.
Well, I think he was responding to...
He'll respond to anybody, even parody accounts.
He responds to everything.
During the game, he'll respond.
Oh, no, excuse me. Sorry. Let me be clear.
Not Nocta.
It was a burner account that wrote.
Sorry.
Okay, I want to be clear.
It was not knocked.
I guess I got the name wrong.
So a burner account writes the insecurity is unmatched and Mero responds to him.
That's the LOL he just did one minute.
We were talking on cover zero just this week about coaches rarely name another coach.
This is full on little Pete.
These are people who worked with each other.
They called him Little Pete.
I love the fact that we've got this little back and forth going Louisville.
But now this seems like people who don't, who just.
genuinely don't like it.
That's getting personal, yeah.
I mean, not knowing any detail about their relationship, it'd be very easy to think
they don't like each other.
They recruited against each other for a long time.
They also worked together for one year.
And then Pete got right out, didn't he, you know?
Oh, that's true.
He did get right out.
Yeah.
Shannon, what do you think?
Do you like it?
Oh, I love it.
I love the trash talk.
You know, anytime you get a chance to do that, Vince Merrill's going to do it.
But, you know, again, he won't tweet anybody.
It doesn't matter who it is.
It could clearly be a burner account.
He doesn't care.
He's still going to read it.
It really does it.
Do you think if you were Jeff Brom, you would say,
All right, Vince, you got to be.
You got to stop.
Yeah.
Do you think you would do that?
I probably would.
I don't think it's a great look, but it is entertaining.
I would say, Vince, have you seen their class and have you seen our class?
Let's dial it back until we're on the same playing field.
I think you want him to have that chip on his shoulder, but that's not a good look when you're treating
putting money on account stuff.
I mean, he literally like responds to Big Blue Casey.
Well, one thing Vince is doing, that I don't think he's considering.
Some people still kept a love for Vince when he left.
He's managed to continue to Burton Bridges with a lot of this.
That is true.
I know people who are like, I still liked Vince, but now it's getting too old.
Well.
Because he could have maintained some Lexington, but the more of he does this,
Lexington is what he had left is I think is turning on him.
It's fascinating the personal dynamics of the former UK and former U of L staff,
because there's a lot of like incest there.
And they know each other.
And, you know, when I was out Friday night in Louisville saw some of the current U of L staff,
they have thoughts on it.
And it's just fascinating to see.
It's just fascinating.
I like it.
Vince is my friend.
I would say like half as many tweets.
But as an entertainer, I'm like tweet more.
That's what makes sports fun.
Yeah.
As a friend, I'm like Vince tweet less.
But as an entertainer, I want him to tweet more.
As fans, we like it.
Do you like it as if you're the coach?
I wouldn't like it as a coach.
But at the same time, I think coaches generally are boring.
So, you know.
And if he didn't stop him from tweeting,
Hello Nick Rausch during the game.
I mean, he tweeted during the game.
We have to remember that.
If there was ever a time for them to take his phone away.
During the game randomly just tweeted hello Nick Roush.
I did like Rouse tweeted hello Vince Meroe yesterday when
when they got the thing.
Stein and knocked to the land at some of it.
Radio Ron, go ahead, sir.
Good morning, Matt.
How are you?
Good.
What's up?
Well, I wanted to tell you that I just finished running my 6th 5K or 2025 at Stanford, the jingle bell job.
And guess what?
What?
They established a brand new age category, I think, just for me.
From 90 to 99.
And did you win?
I've won.
Okay, wow.
I've won in 90, and I'm looking forward to running another 6, 5Ks in 2026.
Well, congratulations.
92 years old, 6, 5Ks in a year is pretty amazing.
And it's good to hear from you and keep on establishing.
new age groups so that you can't
so that no one can compete.
I have one more
quick thing, and that
is I was ecstatic.
I was giddy when I learned that
the Rupp's
once were going to be recognized
at halftime over the weekend
because I interviewed
Adolf Rupp and I found
the team, or I found the
tape, and I would like to send
it to you and all the gangs so you
can listen to it. Please do. You know how to get
touch with me. Yeah, please do. I would love
to hear that, Ron. I appreciate the call. Thank you.
Go ahead and send that to me. I would love to. I think that would be cool to listen to.
The reality in Kentucky right now is people can't afford child care or a place to live,
and the only way to fix that is to fix child care and housing. Those aren't political points.
It's a workforce problem. When workers can't afford housing, the company struggle to hire.

It's Opportunity Starts Here.com.
You think you can run at 92?
I can't run it.
I won't be able to run at 62.
That's amazing.
It's amazing.
You know, I love that he creates his own ones, but it is amazing that he does it.
We'll take a break.
Be right back.
KSach.

And we're still chasing it.
And we don't know when we've done enough.
Because people scoreboard watch.

Don't let that be the reason you don't do it.

Welcome back, Tucky Sports Radio.
Surprise guest on the show.
Yeah.
We just called him up and said, will you come on?
He says, yes.
Vince Mero from the University of Louisville.
Vince, where you been?
Man, I've just been working.
Working at, you know, just recruiting and all that stuff.
Just trying to get our roster.
Right, before we start, can I just, will you just admit you miss us?
just admit it it's okay
will you just admit you miss us
well yeah people
you know good people there
always always will have a special place
from our heart for them people so
yep
but I don't miss y'all
you don't miss us
you tweet
I miss you guys
to be fair
to be fair you do tweet about
Kentucky quite a bit
yeah
well I think I respond
and all footing games.
Just, you know, just keeping the rival a little sort of.
It's all. It certainly is fun.
Now, I want to ask you a question about, since we haven't talked to you in a while,
what are the biggest difference between being Louisville and Kentucky?
You've been at both.
You probably have as much experience with both as possible.
By the way, Ryan's already under the table.
You know, Louisville is a bigger city.
A lot more, you know, things that do there.
but, I mean, people are the same.
You got good people in Louisville.
You got good people in Lexington.
It's just been when you was at one place for a long time,
and you kind of like, you know, did not, you know, like that place,
you know, when you were at a school for a long time,
and did you go there and you say, wow, I was deceived about this place.
This was really a good place.
Oh, so those years you were throwing L's down and all that,
you now didn't mean it?
Hey, but when I was at Kentucky, I meant it's just like when you don't know people and you get to know them and then you finally get to know who they are.
Say, wow, you know what?
These people are not really that bad.
And it's good people on both sides.
Now, Vince, you know, I love you.
Did you really tweet at Nick Rouse during the game?
Nah.
What I did was, you know, you know, all you got your experts over there, y'all picked us to lose by 14 or 17 points.
So, you know, once we had the game in hand, I couldn't help it.
But you were on the sidelines.
It was during the game, Vince.
Yeah, I was.
Yeah.
As you know, as you know, we had the game, you know, the game was, you know, it was a, it was a strange situation because that was the first time I seen them guys in person.
You know, even the players, some of the coaches, I got an early sense of the one they played basketball.
It was kind of strange, but it was really strange.
Well, let me ask you that.
When you see those guys, I mean, now, of course, Mark's not the coach here.
But, like, what is the relationship with those former Kentucky coaches after you left and went to Lul?
Believe it or not, we talked to a lot of them.
Talk to Brad, talk to Collins.
You know, a lot of them guys, Bush.
I mean, just, you know, I was very hopeful that they landed somewhere.
When I've seen the majority of them landed somewhere, I was very happy for their families
because you don't guys have families.
And, you know, being on another side, when we beat them, I was like, man, did we, you know,
did we have something to do with this?
So, you know, I pray to hope for it that they got jobs.
So now a new staff and you're kind of trash talking with the new staff.
I mean, what's it like when this Kentucky staff beat you for recruits, Vince?
Is it hard since you were here?
Oh.
I mean, there's some, I mean, I mean, I, I mean, I, I, I mean, I, I, I, I mean, I, I, I, I, I mean, I,
I don't want to recite.
There's some facts out there.
I mean, there are players.
How long you've been knowing me, Matt?
I've known you for a long time.
Yes.
And all you guys in there, you know, oh, my guys.
But I'm saying, who did they beat us on?
Well, I mean, I don't think it's good to defeat feet.
But I think it's fair to say, Vince, that some of the guys Kentucky's gotten you were trying to get.
Isn't that fair?
No.
Not what?
I'm trying to think.
Okay.
We were battling for one guy right now, but no.
I mean, and then look at these rankings.
One poll got us ranked in the top five and got you guys ranked in the top 50.
And then there's another one got to rank in.
There's two different polls.
You're talking about the one that has guys going in and out, which includes guys that
were marks, guys, et cetera.
In the actual portal rankings, which is who has.
the best players from the class.
I mean, at this point, Kentucky is ranked higher than Louisville.
God bless them.
If that's true, but we're saying.
Hey, listen, man, I want nothing, but them guys will do well.
I still talk about, I don't know what it's new staff, but I'm talking about administration.
I've been cheering for the women's basketball.
I've been very, I still watch a lot of their games.
And you were always a big fan of the women's basketball team here, and you like Kenny a lot.
right yeah yeah you guys got a really good coach there he's a really good coach uh let me let me ask you
do you do you know will stine at all did you i mean i guess you guys weren't in louisville at the
same time so do you do you know him at all no i don't know him at all just know he a trinity guy
a little bit i know i guess his parents with the with the UK and they seem to be fired about
their new coach so you know what we don't play them until the last game of the season again so
it don't matter right now.
But as we get close to that game, you know, it'll start heating up.
Well, let me finish with this because you're very nice to have answered the phone.
You get on Twitter a lot and you fire back at fans.
You did that some here, but I feel like you do it more at Louisville than you even did at Kentucky.
Does anybody ever say, hey, Vince, you know, don't tweet as much or do you really enjoy it, I feel like?
I work for a really good friend.
He's a really good coach.
It's good people there.
Nah, I mean, Mark Stofe didn't say it to me.
So, I mean, I just feel it's more, you guys make it more bigger now that I'm at Louisville.
But when I was at Kentucky, I did the same thing.
So it's kind of funny, you know.
But, you know, I like the entertainment.
It's all good for the fans.
I really be laughing to be quite darned.
Well, you know, I love you.
It's going to be fun beating you this year.
I say cats by six.
seven to ten and when it's over, I'll take you out to dinner and throw L's down, but I love you.
It's great to talk to you.
All right.
Well, just make sure I'll tweet from the sideline again.
So we know this time you won't have a chance because you're going to be walking off and
our band is going to be playing and you're going to have a sad look on your face.
No, hey.
You know what?
If that happens, I'll be the first one to say, hey, you guys beat us.
But it's good talking to you guys, man.
You guys always been my favorite you guys in that.
station right there, Brian and all you guys.
Well, we love you. Thank you, Vince.
Appreciate it, man.
All right. Take care.
There you go.
That was quite entertaining.
How about that?
That was good.
Shane, I didn't think he would answer.
He did.
Like, on the first ring, he was ready for our call.
I love Vince.
I loved it.
I did too.
He doesn't miss us, though.
I didn't like that.
He said, I don't miss you all.
Those words came out of his mouth.
Yeah, but he also said we were his favorite.
That's true.
Okay, we'll lean on that.
Eat it, Drew Deiner.
We'll take a break very back.
