It is Kentucky Sports Radio Tuesday, January the 27th. I'm Matt Jones here on a snowy Louisville, Kentucky, where it is really cold. I don't know what it's like for those of you outside of Kentucky, but it is absurd. absurdly cold here in Louisville, Lexington, all over the bluegrass.
Starting point is 00:03:07 You can give a shout. Clark's Puppet Shop phone line 859-2-80-2287. A-Vision Auto Glass Text Machine is 772-7-7-4-25-4. This edition is sponsored by the T.J. Smith Law Office. If you call T.J. he'll make them pay. Ryan Lemon is here. Is Drew here today? My present.
Starting point is 00:03:25 All right. Good. Drew is here as well. And Shannon, nice to have everybody there. Is Lexington? Did you get out of your neighborhoods? I know Drew, you and Ryan were worried that you weren't going to be able to get out. The issue is more getting in.
Starting point is 00:03:39 So we knew we could get here, but we might just be living on the street the rest of the afternoon. Yeah, Drew and I both have a little hill to get into our neighborhoods. That's the worries, getting back home. Well, just leave your car. It's fine. I've seen cars all over the city that get left here in Louisville, Shannon. Seems like they're just, people just kind of decide, as my friend Johnny Bruce would say, to just sit her down and leave it and then go and go about their business. The problem is it's probably not going to thaw out until some time next week.
Starting point is 00:04:06 So usually the sun comes in and does its thing the next day, but not this case. So after the show yesterday, I decided, okay, you know, I don't know how this stuff works, but I was like, well, I guess it'll freeze, you know, and then it would become, Ryan, in my view, maybe harder to dig out in the future than it would have been yesterday, right? Correct. Yes. So I went outside, you know, I don't have a shovel. So I looked around.
Starting point is 00:04:35 I saw a shovel on somebody's porch. Ryan, I went and I knocked on their door and they didn't answer. And so I was left with a dilemma. I assumed they would want me to borrow this shovel. You did? Yes. Why he was just walking up on their porch and taking their shovel? Well, no, I assume that they, well, I mean, I feel like they'd be a good neighbor, right?
Starting point is 00:04:58 Because you're a good neighbor to them, right? If I had a shovel, which I was. of course I don't. But if I did have a shovel, they should feel free to use it. Gotcha. And, Drew, I feel like I give that vibe to the neighborhood. Come use my shovel. Sounds like you live in a theft neighborhood.
Starting point is 00:05:13 Why don't you just borrow their car while you were at it? Was there being available to? I don't think a car and a shovel. If there is a shovel on a porch during a snowstorm. It's fair game? I'm not taking it. I'm borrowing it. Do you feel like it's fair at that point, Ryan, to borrow the shovel?
Starting point is 00:05:35 I think if I had a good relationship with that neighbor, but I don't know this person. And in this ice, most people are breaking their shovels anyway. So what if you had broken their shovel, what would you? Well, I'm careful with my shovels. I'm very careful not to, and we don't have a lot of ice here. You all have ice there. We have like big fluffy snow. So I borrow the shovel, go out.
Starting point is 00:05:54 I start digging around the tires because, you know, my tires were spinning and I was trying to get out. as I'm digging, a man walks right behind me and just whispers, Ryan and Shannon would be very proud of you. He had been listening to the show. Yeah. And he said, and he didn't even stop. He just said it, said, love the show and kept walking. Well, going from a brush to a snow shovel is a huge upgrade.
Starting point is 00:06:20 I'm very proud of you actually using tools for the first time in your life. Well, let me say, having not shoveled in a long, long time, I'm changing my position from yesterday. Ryan, you should not shovel. You will end up with a heart attack. Yes, it's hard and hard work. It is hard. It's very, so I got it, got it out.
Starting point is 00:06:38 While I'm shoveling, the man who shoveled Shannon, to be honest, I borrowed. Yeah. He walks out of his house. Uh-oh. And he looks at me, and he knows I have his shovel at this point. Yeah. Of course he does. So I look at him and I say, hey, borrowed your shovel.
Starting point is 00:06:55 And he goes, I'm aware. which I thought was a funny answer. My security system triggered. We had a bird on our front porch. I said, I hope you don't mind. I'll bring it right back. And he goes, of course. And then he kind of looks at me and walks in.
Starting point is 00:07:10 So I think he was okay with Drew, but did sort of want to note, hey, man, you did take my shovel. Yeah, that to me was a story of theft. That's what I heard. I think you owe him one, too. Like, what can he borrow from you now in the future when he needs something? My brush. He didn't need your brush. There we go.
Starting point is 00:07:29 the brush. He can borrow my brush. You need to bake him some brownies or cookies or something. I was told that the things on them are called like whispers ride. On a broom? Yeah, I thought maybe they were bristles. It hit me later in the day was bristles. So it's not bristles. It's not whispers. Okay. Bristles. No, it is bristles. What are you, which one is it? I thought it was whistled. I think I accidentally said thistles yesterday, but I meant bristles. Okay. Well, I don't know where I got the word. Whispers. Maybe somebody was just making that up. But anyway, dug out and I went, got out in town. And, you know, Shannon, once you get out of your neighborhood road, it's actually fine. It's game on then. Yeah, it's fine in Louisville. It's just getting out of your neighborhood is, I think, where I just kept seeing people spin on the streets they live on.
Starting point is 00:08:20 But once you're on the main roads, they're basically, Shannon Clear. Yeah, they're good. I mean, I had to dig myself out. And I drive a Jeep and wasn't able to get out of my driveway on Sunday. But yeah, once you get a out for the most part the roads are good yeah so uh so anyway and then kentucky it looks like has gotten in oxville and drew it sounds like the game will be on tonight vandy's powers back on so it's game on this evening hopefully they make it the rest of the way the nashville that'll be big they're only in knoxville i'm worried about them wait a minute they're in knoxville noxville you just said the katherine knoxville is like whatever it doesn't just focus on the big picture they're in Nashville. And they're playing tonight. And I was kind of surprised to see Bandy is only a six and a half point favorite. I mean, that's, I would have thought it would have been more. That's a relatively small number to me. Do you give us, Ryan, any chance of winning tonight?
Starting point is 00:09:18 Well, I ask Shannon this, and I'll ask you what the magic number is because they score a lot of points. They usually score in the 90s. And when they're in Memorial Gym, they're very, very effective. So what do you think, The magic number is Kentucky needs to hold bandy two to win. I don't know that we can win a game that they score more than 80. I mean, I think we have to win like 8180 or 79, 76. I mean, I don't, I'm not sure this team, absent getting really hot, I mean, like getting really hot. Drew, I don't think you can go in thinking you're going to score in the 80s. I think what's more important for Kentucky is how well they play defense.
Starting point is 00:10:02 I mean, I think you have to take the position to make Vandy hit outside shots. And if they hit them, you go, well, we did our best. Yeah, we don't talk about enough, but Kentucky's got the second best scoring defense in the conference right now. I mean, in these wins, you know, we get annoyed we fall back a little bit, but they've done a good job of holding teams beneath their scoring average. I'm leaning towards they'll be able to do that a little bit tonight. I'm looking for a close game, maybe even a cat's win. Vandy had the three-game losing streak.
Starting point is 00:10:31 I mean, Vandy lost three straight, just beat Mississippi State. Okay, whatever. They can't beat anybody. So they were in a little bit of a funk just a game ago, whereas Kentucky's won five in a row. I'm talking myself into making it at six in a row tonight. I'm feeling a little bit, and I was as negative as anyone just a few weeks ago. Huh.
Starting point is 00:10:51 Is that a pick? I mean, you'll get to do it. the end of the show. But I mean, are you submitting for a graphic? Yeah, I think I had 79-77 was my score. I think we get it done. They've, the winning lately hasn't been luck. They've found a way to win five, well, Mississippi State. They won big. But the last four have been close games where they've pulled away in the final minute. And that's not just getting by here lately. I really think they're finding a way to win. Whereas Vandy, yeah, they won their last one. But before that, had three
Starting point is 00:11:18 straight losses. I'm starting to fill something heading into Nashville here. Shannon, you are at your heart of hearts an evil Vandy pain. When you hear Drew say that, what do you think? I kind of felt like the six and a half. You said you thought was low. I had the opposite thought. I thought that was kind of low. I thought that Kentucky would probably, if they're going to lose, maybe about three, four points.
Starting point is 00:11:43 I don't feel like six. I feel like six and a half is kind of high. You thought it was low. I feel like it's kind of high. Well, see, we're all over the place on here. And that's what the problem is with Vandy, it's hard to figure out. who they are. That's true, but who are we?
Starting point is 00:11:56 That's true, too. Who are we? I mean, like, again, I'm, I am very positive about the fact that we've won all these games. But we also could have lost a lot of these games. Should have lost the LSU game. Yeah. And so it's hard for me to say, it's not about emotion for me when I'm, I mean, I
Starting point is 00:12:17 picked that nine and a half point spread last week because that's just what I thought it would be. If you asked me what this was going to be, I would have thought it would have been eight and a half or nine because I would have thought, you know, Vandy is at home. We have struggled to win down there when they're good in general. We're not very good. And even though we've won these,
Starting point is 00:12:39 we have one really impressive win, and that's the win over Tennessee. So I don't know, Ryan. I'm glad that people give us a chance. I kind of think the game will be close, but I don't, I'm just a little surprised we're getting the respect we're getting on it. I feel like we match up really well in the back court with Otega, Aberdeen, and Chandler with Nichols and Miles and Tyler Tanner. Is the one guy playing is Duke Miles playing?
Starting point is 00:13:05 He's questionable. Their play-by-play guy was on with Tom Leach and he's like, I don't even know where that's coming from. I expect him to play. So he doesn't even know why on the list. I just assume he's going to play. I feel like we match up really well in the back court. Front court, that's where Florida killed him. Hawk and Condon and those big guys just dominate Vanian's side.
Starting point is 00:13:22 So if our big guys can do anything at all the night, I think that could be a huge difference. Yeah, I mean, as long as our big guys, I would say if we can play them even or a little bit better, you have a chance. Do you think the crowd, I mean, normally we get a good Kentucky crowd there. I don't know what the status of everything is in Western Kentucky from a weather standpoint. Do you think, Drew, we get our normal. Kentucky contingent down there. No, I don't think we have that.
Starting point is 00:13:52 One, I don't think we'll be traveling much because of how bad it is. But also, they've flipped the little switch a little bit with excitement. I don't know that we were going to have the normal takeover. I mean, we would have gotten in, but Vandy has been showing up all season long this year. I even have friends that go to Vandy games. It's like a social event now to go to Vandy games. It sounds outrageous. So I don't know that we're going to have the true takeover.
Starting point is 00:14:12 But now with the weather, I worry about us getting in it all. But I also don't know how many of them would go because it's so bad down there right now, too. Maybe they have a lot of power out. Maybe people want to get out of the house. I don't know, but I don't think it will be a good crowd. I could see a lot, though. Their state arena is on campus, so I could see them getting a lot, Shannon, of the student popular.
Starting point is 00:14:29 I mean, like, what else are they doing, right? They're not doing it. They can't go anywhere. Yep. So I could see, I could actually see it being more rowdy of a crowd for Vandy, Shannon, than they're used to if they end up with all those students. I think you're right. I think there would be less Kentucky fans than normal.
Starting point is 00:14:43 You had a guy who was driving a snowplow calling on the pre-show. He was in Western Kentucky. He said the roads are still really bad there. So that may stop a lot of Kentucky fans coming from that area into Nashville for the game. Yeah, well, we will see. Now, last night, Ryan, also, I got out for dinner. I drove to Fern Creek, okay? Good people in Fern Creek.
Starting point is 00:15:07 Shannon, that's your neck of the woods, right? I used to live. I lived there for 10 years. Yeah, I mean, I gave it good people in Fern Creek. They went to a restaurant. Louisville game was on. And I just want to thank this person, Ryan. This happens to me more in Fern Creek than anywhere else.
Starting point is 00:15:25 People will just buy my meal and don't tell me. So when it comes time to pay, they're like it's been taken care of. And then the people don't ever say who it is. And that's probably happened to me four or five times in Fern Creek. I don't know that's happened anywhere else. So I wanted to, Shannon, to first of all, praise your area of Louisville. Well, that's very nice. Normally it's the opposite for me.
Starting point is 00:15:50 They charge me double and say, that guy says it's on your tab. No. They do. And then I am, this is what I wanted your opinion on. When that happens, what do you do with a tip? Do you tip? I end up tipping about what I was going to pay for the dinner. And I feel like that.
Starting point is 00:16:10 So here's why I think. I think the waitresses know that. And they're trying to get people to pay for it because then they get a bigger tip. That's going to be my explanation of what happens. That's a good strategy. That's very generous of you to do that. I think, yeah, you probably pay at least close to what you would have paid anyway and just consider it, you know, paying for you know. But it's very nice.
Starting point is 00:16:27 Yes. So I wanted to say to whoever said that last night, thank you. And a shout out to the woman who was sitting next to me at the bar who said her name was Tara and that her whole family listened. I said I would give her a shout out as well. So that's my shoutouts for the day. See, when snow comes, Ryan, I'm in a good mood. So there you go. well we're so proud of you right now for the hipping the waitress and for digging your car out of the snow
Starting point is 00:16:50 it's a good day for you grow up right in front of our eyes yes and borrowing a shovel without without asking maybe closer to stealing and borrowing and you didn't even say where you went in fern creek but i already know where you went it was two different places last night was different than where you think i go okay yeah just so you know we don't have to say but i'll tell you off the air where you went i'm sure I'll be right. Well, no, you're thinking I went to Roosters, because I go there quite a bit. That's not where you went? That's not where I went last year.
Starting point is 00:17:20 Oh, wow. Okay. I have a diverse palette, Sharon. Do you now? Yes, 859-28027. Text machine is 772-77524. We will take a break and be right back. This is Kentucky Sports Radio.

Listen to Help from Hypocrite as part of the Mike Coutura Podcast Network available on the IHart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Welcome back, Techie Sports Radio, 85928027.
Starting point is 00:21:10 Text machine is 772-7474525. For one person writes, Matt, you should tell the guys that what you did with the shovel is borrowing without permission. Drew, I like that slogan. Borrowing without permission. I guess you did have the intent to return it. You did return it. I'm just worried if something had gone wrong with that situation would have looked at. Well, it's going to go wrong.
Starting point is 00:21:31 If you'd snap the handle off, what were you going to do? Experience shovelers, we don't. We don't do it. I would like to know is like, how far would you go with this borrowing without asking permission? Like, would you take a leaf blower if it were over there, like a snowblower? Do you have to plug it in? No, he runs off gas. No, then I wouldn't do that.
Starting point is 00:21:53 Could you know what to start it? No, because I wouldn't do that because I'd be taking his gas. Okay. So, like, he has this. Yeah, I mean, me using his shovel doesn't put him out in it. But if I use something of his that has gas, then I'm costing him money. Okay. So I would not use it.
Starting point is 00:22:10 That's why I asked if he plugged in, I mean, I've got the electricity. Yeah. So. Okay. So, no. Let's see where your line is. I got it. That's my line.
Starting point is 00:22:18 Okay. Right. I feel like that's a fair line. The neighborly thing to do, you borrow his shovel, you should have also shoveled his car out of the snow. No. I don't know. First of all, I don't know which car is. You could have asked him.
Starting point is 00:22:28 He was right there. Yeah. Well, I mean, I don't want to get involved in his life. He just wants to steal his shovel. Well, he may want it shoveled a certain way that I don't know. Oh. That I don't know how to do. Amari Williams, Drew, had a career high in minutes last night.
Starting point is 00:22:46 Played 25 minutes for the Celtics against the Blazers. He's getting raves from his teammates. Now, the top two bigs on the Celtics are hurt, so I don't know that this will continue all year. But he's playing well. Are you surprised that our guy Amari is seeing some success? I figured he'd have a good shot. I'm surprised to see the big game he had over the weekend and just how much they love him in Boston.
Starting point is 00:23:14 Even that game in Brooklyn where his teammates mobbed him, you could tell they love a guy who's not even around that much. Then he played well last night. I guess I'd say I'm surprised that he's in the role he's in because they seem to really appreciate him. But I'm not surprised that he had a chance he's making the most of it. I mean, he had as many points as Shaden Sharp last night. Did he really? Maybe even more minutes. So really the former cat in that game I think played the most and then they tied in points.
Starting point is 00:23:39 So go Amari. I love it. I mean, I'm really happy for him. I did not think with his inability to shoot from the outside, Ryan, that you could play him in the NBA. But, I mean, the Celtics are one of the best coach teams, so he probably ended up in a good spot. He's surrounded by a team that everyone else can shoot, so that probably helps it a little bit. And he's smart. We saw that when he was here, so I think that's why it ends up working out.
Starting point is 00:24:05 I got to admit, I thought his lack of offensive game would limit him. he would never be able to play in the NBA. But if he can find his role, the right spot, the right team, pass, rebound, play good defense, you can find a spot on a team like that, and he's done it. So I'm proud of him. One person writes, Matt, here in Woodford County, we've been having frost quakes all night. Have you all experienced one of the frost quakes? Yeah, I did.
Starting point is 00:24:28 Did you? I was in my basement last night, and I thought somebody was in my house and something fell at my house. It shook the house. I thought for sure somebody just dropped something. upstairs in my house. So I have never heard this term before in my life. Shannon, my inclination is it's made up. I've never heard it either.
Starting point is 00:24:46 But now in 24 hours, I've heard everyone say it. Frost quakes. Yep. So do we know what it is? No. I've never heard that term, but it's just like the popping with the ice and the ground, because I've heard that.
Starting point is 00:24:59 I've never heard it called. Well, no, it's apparently below ground. Is that right, Ryan? I think so. Something about the kind of combination of what you said and what Drew said, The ice cracking way underground causes this little tremor. Yeah. It's just a sound.
Starting point is 00:25:14 But, well, it doesn't shake the ground? It's like a bang or what I've heard. Like a pop. Yeah, it sounds like something that dropped in my house. That's what it sounded like. Somebody dropped something in my house. Had you all, any of you heard the phrase until yesterday? No.
Starting point is 00:25:28 No. I hadn't heard it until you just said it. I just am guessing that that's what that is. Is that a common phrase? Shannon, had you ever heard it? Not until right now. I'm not sure that Ryan was experiencing a frost quake, though. How do you know if something just didn't get knocked off?
Starting point is 00:25:42 I went from top to bottom, opened every closet, every room. Yeah, we're just assuming it's a frost quake. We don't know that for sure. Exactly. Do they damage? Do they separate like an earthquake? It was just a noise. There was nothing going on.
Starting point is 00:25:56 Just this noise that happened. I'm going to lean, that wasn't a frost quake. Me too. I think a frost quake is supposed to give you like just a mild little, right or what else would it be a quake then it would just be a frost pop we need tgge shuff back on here it's what we need he could explain it to us yeah i mean otherwise it's just a frost pop which you could also buy croger uh i don't think it's i think the quake requires a a rattleing of your windows or something not just a noise well yes if only we knew weatherman
Starting point is 00:26:31 that we could ask exactly only had a number phone number four of them who's up first Let's go to Andrew. Andrew. Go ahead, Andrew. Hey, morning, guys. First time long time. What's up? So, kind of touch with what you all said earlier.
Starting point is 00:26:46 I think we got a pretty good shot against Mandy. If you look in there, three losses, except for the Florida one when they scored 94, and you've got to take away one of the front quarter back court. I think we can take away the front court. I don't want to rely on our guards getting in foul trouble because that's a real slippery slope on the defensive end. But definitely think if you limit their front. court scoring and you rebound well.
Starting point is 00:27:08 We can win by scoring 80. I feel pretty good about that. And then the last thing that I kind of wanted to lead you all with, if you want to make some money today, Vandy spread first half, Kentucky Moneyline parlay. It hits five games in a row. It's plus 1,200 today. It is an absolute cash cow if you're a small wager guy like me.
Starting point is 00:27:30 Interesting. So you bet, bet, Vandy in the first half, Kentucky Moneyline in the second. going back to our first game against Mississippi State every team we've played per usual first half has been awful our opponent has covered the spread every time but we've won every game so money line for the full game but at half time I like it I like it makes sense to me
Starting point is 00:27:54 makes sense I appreciate it makes complete sense who do we is the is the you all have like a really chubby guy right McLaughton you're talking about yeah he's pretty good He's pretty good, yeah. He's thick, though, right? He is, yeah. He's a big guy underneath.
Starting point is 00:28:10 Tyler Nichols, the guy that's leading the SEC and three-point shooting. So that's the guy they really need to watch out for, because if he gets hot, it's going to be hard to beat him. But the thick guy, he's one of those dudes that really annoys you if he's on the other team, right? Yeah. Because he doesn't look like he should be good. You can play bully ball, though. Oh, for sure. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:28:28 I wonder if we, do you think we have a guy to bully up to him, Ryan? Because he's thick. he was there last year and both games played Kentucky well too I remember that he's the thicker picker and he is a massive dude we will have to be ready for him we'll take a break right back S KSR
Starting point is 00:28:47 welcome back to Tegi Sports Radio all right I have a definition of of frost quake the frost quake hit it all right so when water gets in the soil and before it has time to completely seep in and be absorbed the ground rapidly freezes to near zero degrees.
Starting point is 00:29:10 It will expand more quickly and take up more density than the water, which will cause the frozen water to expand and crack and pop, which can lead to a loud noise and minor ground shaking. That is a frost quake. We learned something today on this radio program. How about that? Can you repeat it in case people couldn't hear? Yeah, just go to the website, crossquake.com.
Starting point is 00:29:40 I knew he didn't listen. Drew, I knew he didn't listen. Even though I'm not there with you all and I can't see him, I could picture him not paying attention. Yeah, I don't know, he's pretty locked in today. His hair is combed. He did the pre-show. He was here very early.
Starting point is 00:29:54 I thought I was getting here early. You combed your hair today. He was already set up. The lights were on. I think he's pretty dialed in today. I had to get up and take a shower at 7.30 this morning. It was so cold. it woke me up immediately.
Starting point is 00:30:05 One person writes, Matt, do you all approve of the LMPD's funny tweets during the storm? Yeah, I saw some of those. Loved them. Loved them. And if you're offended by that, then maybe you stay off the internet. I mean, really. If you can't understand the sarcasm. Yeah, it was hilarious.
Starting point is 00:30:22 But people were upset about it. I'm kind of surprised that they handed it over to them like that, though. I mean, that's clearly like a funny kid. that was given the phone. Are you surprised they kind of gave them? I mean, they started, when I first looked at the tweets, they had 44,000 followers. Now they have 108,000 in three days.
Starting point is 00:30:46 Apparently there was a story about it on CBS News last night. I thought it was funny. Like they're making jokes, but they're also telling you what's going on. I see no problem, Drew, but I am surprised that they kind of got away with it for so many days. Yeah, I loved it. I need to know, I'm with you. I need to know the inside baseball here of how this happened. Like, where they just sitting around the office and they have like somebody funny? They're like, why don't you just take over? Did someone give it to their kid?
Starting point is 00:31:12 Because I don't know what would make a police department do that, especially during some serious times with the weather. But I'm glad they did because it made great content. It was great. Yeah, all you have to do is scroll. Like the next one's better than the last one. It just keeps going. Yeah, for people who don't know, if you were to go on Twitter to the LMPD account, you'll see. see all of these. And it's, you know, it's kind of amazing. And they're making
Starting point is 00:31:37 fun of people who decide to go drive and get their car stuck, Shannon. Yeah. They're saying exactly what I'm thinking. Yeah, exactly. And I will say, I'm sure it actually probably, you know, at a time where the, you know, not all publicity that law enforcement's getting is positive,
Starting point is 00:31:55 this makes them seem like they have a, you know, a funny, funny heart. and a good sense of humor. So, Shannon, I think it's probably good. It's great. They just put a poll up.
Starting point is 00:32:05 Should the department's social media remain balanced or stay unhinged? I am voting right now unhinged. And it's 97% to three unhinged. Yeah. It actually shows stuff. There shows police officers pushing a car out, which is nice. We need to see that. But then the tweet says, our cops don't skip leg day.
Starting point is 00:32:24 Like, okay, we got it. The video that shows they're out doing good, but then the caption was funny. It's harmless. So they did, however, issue an apology last night. Do you think that was a joke? Say, good afternoon. The LNPD wishes to apologize for the tone of our tweets. Our social feeds do not accurately reflect the entire department or this community.
Starting point is 00:32:47 Come on. Yeah. Again, that's for the people we were complaining. But you see, you don't think that that's like, you don't think they really had to apologize. It sounds like they did. I don't think there's any sarcasm in that tweet. I think that's for the people who were offended. But they also then tweeted, HR asks us,
Starting point is 00:33:08 we understand the seriousness of our actions. We nodded respectfully, then asked if we could tweet that we nodded respectfully. Yeah, they're back out of it. They're back. The poll, the results on the poll are great. There's 72,000 votes, and 97% say stay unhinged. Yep.
Starting point is 00:33:25 Yeah. Well, I think, well done to the LNPD. I think you guys, I think they crushed it and well done. Now, I enjoyed watching Drew Louisville get destroyed by Duke last night, lost by 30. They were up 25, 24, and then didn't make a shot for like 10 minutes. Got destroyed. Pat Kelsey, who, you know, now we have to be careful. We have a coach the same hired at the same time as him.
Starting point is 00:33:54 They beat us this year. I recognize all that. but his record against teams that are like top 30 in the Kim Palm or whatever is like one and 13. I think we're the one unfortunately. But it seems like there's some of the Louisville fans starting to have some questions about Little Pat. Yeah, I haven't really been dialed into the Louisville scene until last night when I just saw on Twitter everyone complaining about him. I didn't know it had gotten that bad. I know Duke beat him by 30 and I think Brown had a terrible game box score watching but it was the reaction that i got caught up in i didn't realize his seat was
Starting point is 00:34:29 as hot as it is did this kind of just start brewing in the last few weeks i think when they beat us i think when they beat us they convinced themselves they were a national championship contender and now they know they're clearly not and then mckell brown there was there was so much like gossip about whether he wasn't going to play and whether he was there was a lot of gossip around louisville and i think all that's led to some negativity and then even though we've struggled in last few years. You know, they had the Kenny Payne era, so they really need to be good because they haven't been in a long time.
Starting point is 00:35:01 And I think, right, all that combines to where their fans are, they get fed up pretty easily. They've gone from when they beat us, me thinking that this is one of the top 10 teams in the country, to now they are going the exact opposite way. They looked horrible last night. Even with McKill Brown, they're going backwards. Yeah, no, I mean, they're not going to be ranked next week. and if you look at their schedule, they'll pick up a bunch of wins,
Starting point is 00:35:26 but they don't play a lot of good teams because the ACC stinks. So, I mean, there's very little they can do for their seat. Like, I think their chances of getting like a top three seed went away last night. So, you know, it is what it is. I will, I did watch Arizona, BYU. Arizona is really good. Yeah, they are. Like a BYU came back at the end, but Arizona, I think Arizona is my pick right now to win the whole thing.
Starting point is 00:35:50 Who's next? Bill. They might go and feed it. I hope not. I don't want anybody to go undefeated because we should have been 2015. Go ahead, Bill. Hey, man, first time caller. Who are?
Starting point is 00:36:02 What's up? Not a whole lot. It's funny that you guys are actually talking about, like, Louisville right there. I actually wanted a preference. I actually am a Louisville fan. But I wanted to call in just to kind of actually say how good y'all's podcast is. I've actually learned quite a whole lot of, like, random little fun things from y'all, especially the Cover Zero podcast you and Drew do.
Starting point is 00:36:23 I just wanted to let you guys know, like, how pretty good and entertaining you guys, like, truly are. Yeah, I have a, my call worker listens to you all, like, all the time on lunch. And I was just like, well, I'm actually learning a lot of random little things like here and whatnot. So especially during, like, the winter storms and stuff like that, it's always nice to kind of have a good podcast to go to. Well, I appreciate it. That's what we should be, that's what this show should be known as, random little things. I'm sure that name hasn't been taken. It's not too late to change it.
Starting point is 00:36:57 RLT, KSRRLT. There you go. What's next? By the way, if anybody wants Frostquake.com, it is for sell. You could have it for $3,795. Anybody wants that website? Did I ever tell you when I tried to buy KSR.com? No.
Starting point is 00:37:11 So we tried to buy KSR.com. And this was, because we've had Kentucky Sports Radio, and it started to get popular in like 2008, I tried to buy KSR.com. And at the time, it was like some sort of logistics company, but they didn't seem to be using it. And I remember they asked me and they said, we'll sell it to you for $1,500. And we didn't really, at the time, have $1,500. So we didn't.
Starting point is 00:37:39 And I always wish we had. Because, you know, if you had KSR.com, how good that would be. I've tried to buy the Twitter account Matt Jones from that British guy for a decade. Not for sale. He just won't. He's like Greenland. We're not for sale. No, he is Greenland.
Starting point is 00:37:53 I'm not going anywhere. He's like, I'm like, I can treat you better, Matt Jones. He's like, no. I'm keeping Matt Jones. So what are you going to do? Who's next? Ben. Ben, go ahead, Ben.
Starting point is 00:38:05 Oh, hey, Matt. Hey, man, first off, I just wanted to thank the good people of Lexington who did not shovel their driveway. I was walking to the gym this morning. And the scariest parts were them shovel parts that were just iced all the way over. Oh, so you're pro not shoveling. Well, the mayor came out today and said that, They aren't enforcing that. Yeah, he did.
Starting point is 00:38:27 She did. She said it's a reprieve for 24 hours. Until the state of emergency ends, Ryan, you do not have to shovel. As it should be. Yes, absolutely. Do not do that. And then, now I'm not a certified ball number, but I went to the Ole Miss game. And the biggest thing that worried me going forward, and he taught me out of this,
Starting point is 00:38:49 but it felt like our bigs were just getting bullied around in the pain. I'm not going to say, you know, weak. I don't want to be derogatory. I love our guys. Maybe Ole Miss is just getting away with a lot of being physical. But it felt like there was a lot of points in the paint that could have been and one that turned into making one free throws. It felt like we were losing some defensive rebounds.
Starting point is 00:39:09 I agree with you. No, I'm with you. We do get out physical down low. I appreciate the call. I think that is a frustrating thing, Drew, to watch. We get out physicaled most games, and even our guys that are supposed to be physical. get out physical. I mean, I think Malachi and Yelovich are supposed to be more kind of finesse guys, but even Diabate and Garrison, I think they get out physical too.
Starting point is 00:39:34 Early in the Ole Miss game was about as bad as I've seen, too. Yelovich twice in the first few minutes just had the ball ripped out of his hand. That Malik Dio was pushing Malachi Marino wherever he wanted to push him around. And then when Garrison came in, who actually has a little more size to him and has gone to the SEC, they started shoving him around. So I was shocked by how bad it was. wasn't that old miss game it was like that at tennessee too early i was i was thinking marino can't even play in this matchup it got a little better but early on in both those it was like they didn't even stand a chance the only thing that changed the second half is our big started tipping the
Starting point is 00:40:08 rebounds instead of trying to grab them and then the guards would get them maybe that's what we have to do because we were getting out physical the entire time don't stop overpaying for sunglasses if you're tired of buying expensive sunglasses only to lose or break them shady rays an independent american-owned company started right here in kentucky Premium polarized shades for every activity, running, fishing, biking, golfing, you name it. It's Shady Ray's Best Protection Program in the industry. Go to Shady Raise or Shadyrays.com. We'll take a break and be right back, KSR.

Starting point is 00:42:32 And on my podcast the Cliverts show, I'm bringing you conversations about all kinds of stuff like being an internet famous referee. We're in the middle of a game. This linebacker walks up to me
Starting point is 00:42:44 he goes, hey ref, my mom wants you to wave at her. What? Time out. Quarterback on office blue 42. Dude. Hey, Wreck, my mama want you to weigh better. What?
Starting point is 00:42:58 Where's she at? Hey, Miss Parker. Listen to the Clifford Show on the I Heart Radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast. Hey, I'm Jared Adano. Starting point is 00:43:55 This is Help from a Hypocrite, the worst advice from the dumbest people you know. Listen to Help from Hypocrite as part of the Mike Coutura Podcast Network available on the I-Hart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Welcome back, Techie Sports Radio. 859-2802287. They canceled the Tennessee Ole Miss Women's Game because of how bad things are in Oxford. Ryan, I don't know if you've seen. I have friends there. So they were telling me last night, I was talking to my friends that live there,
Starting point is 00:44:29 they, the city is like, no one has power. All the trees are down and most of the roads are blocked. And the city has said that the cell phone towers have one more day of energy in them. So people have no electricity. They really have nowhere to go because they can't get out because the tree, these massive old southern trees are in the middle of the road, and it's two inches of ice, and it's five degrees. It sounds miserable, and it sounds like a situation that, like, today can get a lot worse.
Starting point is 00:45:06 I don't know how much coverage it's getting, but it feels like what's happening there in that part of Mississippi is really, really bad. Yeah, you're right, those old trees, when they fall, they're going to fall on the street or fall on a power line, and they cause all those power outages. That's where like all these, the good thing about like all these electric companies, they all kind of swarm to areas that need it. So I'm sure there's trucks on the way trying to help. But I mean, I think it's all over that northern Mississippi area.
Starting point is 00:45:33 Have you seen some of the visuals, Drew, from Oxford, Mississippi? I mean, those are areas you and I know pretty well. It's crazy. Yeah, I've seen a lot of them. I saw their students that are invited people because they had heat, but they're like, well, we don't have any food or water, but you can come get warm. Yeah, there's people like doing whatever they can. The dorms apparently now have heat. And Shannon, they're literally just inviting people in the city to come stay in the dorms.
Starting point is 00:45:57 That's, yeah. It's nice of them to do that, but that's crazy. And Nashville has got a lot of ice, too. I'm sitting here looking at pictures right now on Twitter. They've got a ton of ice down there still. One person writes, Matt, did the ice and snow get Ryan out of eating alone? It postponed it. Because, again, I didn't want to listen to him whined, Shannon, about not being able to get to a restaurant.
Starting point is 00:46:19 I know, right. Yeah. So we postponed it, and then we're at the Super Bowl next week. So we're not forgetting this. Yeah, I told him I was going to remind you of this. He still needs to go out. We're still going. You're not going to be able to do it next week because we're going to be at the Super Bowl.
Starting point is 00:46:33 But, Ryan, you're still going. Mario is following you like it is happening. I just want you to know. I got a little good test run the past couple of days having to eat by myself, had to fix myself my own dinners. But you haven't been out yet. No, I've not been out yet. Okay.
Starting point is 00:46:48 Speaking of being out, we will have the game at the bar tonight late. I know it'll be cold, but we've got a bunch of specials going on because it's cold and because it's late to come watch the Kentucky Vandy game. And then Saturday, Ryan doesn't even know this, we're having the Ryan Lemon beat Cali Perry party. I didn't know this. What will this party consist of? Well, we're going to plan it over the next couple days. Okay.
Starting point is 00:47:15 But you have to think about what would Ryan Lemon want to be. beat Cal Perry. What would that party look like? Okay. I'll be thinking of that. I have no idea at this point. Wheels are turning. But it's not you wearing pajamas that will not help us beat Calgary. You know, we had the pajama party the other morning. It was, you know, when all the snow was getting ready to happen. We need to bring that back. That was a lot of fun. You were one of only a handful of people in pajamas. Yeah. Do it again. I don't think, I don't think people wanted to see that. Who's next? Madison. Madison. Go ahead, Madison. Hello, how we doing, Matt?
Starting point is 00:47:49 How are you doing, Stranger? I hope you're doing all right. I am. I'm enjoying the snow day. I'll hope you know. What were you going to do if it didn't snow? Like, what's a normal Madison day? I can't answer that.
Starting point is 00:48:07 You don't want to know what he's up to. All right, fine. All right, Mr. Mysterious, I won't ask you. Sorry. Yeah. I got two things. One, Since next month starts baseball season for you, I know you're a Reds fan.
Starting point is 00:48:22 But do you think the Reds contend or not? And then two, do you all think the Vandy games gets canceled, or do you think they still have? No, they're going to play it. They're going to play it. They'll play the Vandy game tonight. It's late. Our pregame show will be at 6.30. My post game show will be in the middle of the night.
Starting point is 00:48:45 but I do think they will play it. As far as the rands, we need a hitter. If we get another big bat, if we can get Suarez or one of those people, then I think we got a shot to be contend for the division. If we don't, it probably would be like last year. We'll be like 500. Maybe we get a wild card and then lose in the first round. But right, we need, I wish they would trade one of our pitchers to go get a guy who can hit home runs.
Starting point is 00:49:12 I didn't like Terry Francona saying I don't feel like we need to. hit home runs. We have the smallest ballpark in baseball and our manager doesn't want to hit home runs. Why wouldn't you want to go get somebody just knocking on? He said we're going to earn runs. Well, it's a lot easier when you hit him out of the park. I'll tell you how to earn them. Hit it out of the park. I think that's an earned run. If you're the Reds, I think you get runs no matter how you can get them. I'm also worried that they are reporting, Drew, that Ellie turned down a $200 million extension from the Reds. me think my L.E. time. I'm looking at his
Starting point is 00:49:47 bobblehead right now. It may be may only be a couple more years left. Thought about you and that news came across the ticker. That's not very optimistic for the future of Ellie and be in the face of that franchise. Hold on to him while you have him. The Reds had to sell lemonade just to give that offer. So I don't think it's going to get
Starting point is 00:50:03 much higher. Who's next? Ben. Ben, go ahead, Ben. Hi, guys. First off, I'll start with a suggestion for the Ryan Lemon Beach Calipari Party. say if we lose, somebody gets to Taze Ryan,
Starting point is 00:50:18 and we can live that out. What do you think, Ryan? Does that work? I think we need to appreciate this man's call and have him never call back again. Man, let me just tell you,
Starting point is 00:50:28 John. Go ahead, sir. I wouldn't, I wouldn't do that to him without his approval. Well, beyond that, though, you said something yesterday.
Starting point is 00:50:39 I actually, I actually really agree with you, but isn't it ironic that, like, if we, if two or three years ago, when Calgary was here, and we were to play a Mark Pope team. You said yesterday that, you know, Arkansas
Starting point is 00:50:51 does everything good that we don't do. But it knew ironic that if Calipari had still been here and we were playing Mark Pope, we'd probably be saying the same thing about... We would. We would if Mark Pope had a team that could shoot. So it's interesting because I actually think a Mark Pope
Starting point is 00:51:07 team that can shoot is Calipari's weakness. And a Calgary team with athletes is Mark Pope's weakness. But, right now they have a good version of a Cal team and I'm not sure if we have a good version of a Pope team. We have an okay version, but I don't think we have an ideal version. We'll take a break.
