This is Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage.
Now, here's Matt Jones.
Welcome, everyone.
It is Kentucky Sports Radio Friday, January the 30th on the eve of a big Kentucky,
Arkansas basketball game.
I'm Matt Jones.
Ryan Lemon and Drew Franklin.
are in studio.
You can give a shout to Clark's Pump and Shop phone line.
That's 859-280-2287.
A-Vision Auto Glass text machine is 772-7754,
and this edition is sponsored by the T.J. Smith Law Office.
If you call T.J., he'll make them pay.
Ryan.
Well, actually, there are two things I want to start with,
but one, honestly, you two in Lexington in the studio
can speak to more than Shannon and I,
which is the growth.
rowing outrage, I keep getting on the text machine and then really seen on Facebook about
snow removal in Lexington.
Now, Shannon, you and I, we're basically like rowing in the streets in Louisville.
Oh, yeah, I'm good.
I mean, I've been here every day this week.
Honestly, we could, we could, we could like bathe in the middle of the streets.
I wouldn't recommend it, but yeah, you could.
But you could because they're that clean, right?
And they're that clear.
But Lexington, I keep, I saw a little bit when I was there, but then I keep hearing just continues to kind of be a disaster.
And people seem to be getting angry.
So, Ryan, you know, you would like to be mayor one day.
It grows more unlikely every time you speak.
But now, I mean, I think it's very important that on this, because I think you judge mayors, most people don't even know what mayors do.
They end up judging mayors and city council by snow issues.
what are your thoughts on the snow removal of 2026 in Lexington?
It's a little frustrating just for the neighborhood streets,
but really the main thoroughfares are clear.
Like once you get out of your neighborhood, you're good to go.
So you think this is much ado about nothing?
I can see what people are getting frustrated,
but man, get,
get them, cut them a little slack.
I mean, they're getting, they're doing the best.
They actually see snow plows out all the time.
They're cutting out little by little.
They'll eventually get to you.
But the main thoroughfares are okay.
answer, doesn't it,
It does?
Well, that's actually exactly what I'm looking at L-E-X-18.
That's exactly the statement from the city yesterday.
They said, just give us a little time and be patient.
How much time do you need?
It's been a week.
Well, according to Rott.
It was thick.
I mean, it's a thick ice.
I mean, it's like, you know, once it settles and gets packed in, it's like six inches of
nothing but ice.
So it's, it's...
You don't have six inches of ice.
Stop it.
Oh, yeah.
Oh, easily.
Easy.
Easy.
of ice.
I couldn't even break my porch up with every tool I had.
You're saying that you're saying there's six inches of ice.
I mean,
there's two inches of ice in Oxford and they have,
the city is shut down.
Yeah,
I don't,
I think maybe,
you're saying Lexington has three times that much.
Once it is packed in and settled.
On top of the snow.
Yeah,
my porch is close to it.
Here,
I'll send you a picture of me yesterday trying to break it through it in,
Yoga Girl driveway.
Shannon,
I love these two.
Yeah.
I don't know that they have six inches of ice.
Do you know?
I mean,
I understand.
say what they're saying, which is there were six, like, first of all, Lexington
it might be on top of ice.
It might be on top of the snow, but we, like, I can't, I, I was outside working trying
to break stuff.
I don't have the equipment to break up my driveway.
It is impossible with what I own.
I want a lot of time.
So can you get out of your driveway?
I kept one lane going as it went, so I have like one little path, but like my porch,
I fell down yesterday.
I told the Amazon guy, throw it to me, like, you can use nothing to you go.
to me. You didn't throw it to it to. Seriously, there's
like an ice rink. I had hammers,
ice picks, shovels. He's like
Yukon Cornelius out of it. Wait a
minute. You had multiple hammers?
Cannot break it up.
Multiple hammers shams.
Yeah.
It's going to be there for weeks because I'm in the shade.
Where did you get an ice pick?
Do you have a lot of ice picks?
Well, it's not technically an ice pick. It's like what you would,
like, you know when guys are like climbing up on a thing and they're jabbing
that little steak in? I have one of those.
whatever that's called.
Oh, wow, you got one of those.
Was that like, did you go mountain climbing?
No, I have tools.
I'm 40 years old with the garage.
I have a lot of tools and none of them work.
I'm telling you, it was bad in my neighborhood.
I just sent you a little video.
You sent me a picture.
Let's look.
Well, I didn't want a video, but you sent me a picture of Ryan.
So, Ryan, you are of the opinion.
You understand that it is taking longer and you're good with it.
I think we have to just be a little patient on our neighborhood streets
because the main thing is get the thorough fares open, you know,
so ambulances can get through, emergency vehicles, people work in hospitals.
So when is the time that you think people could be upset?
Because, Shannon, it has been a week.
It has been a while, yeah, yeah.
There are certain parts that I think, like, I'm on Winchester Road,
and you know that awkward turn at Midway coming downtown that's weird anyway?
Yeah, yeah.
That right there, as you're turning, it's two lanes.
One lane just turns the mountain of snow with no warning.
There are things like that that have to think.
People are just going to run into that.
There are places in Lexington on main roads where you're just driving in your lane ends in busy traffic.
It does.
If you watch this video, shit.
I'm watching it right now.
What, shit?
Okay.
There he is.
Ryan.
All right.
Ryan, you're picking at it like an 80-year-old woman.
Like, look at that shit.
Yeah.
He's just, like, I don't wonder it doesn't work.
Yeah, you're taking it.
They don't understand that's a solid block of ice.
And I've been out there for an hour.
And they don't understand how I, how.
how hard it is.
You all come look at this.
There's no penetrating it.
You are laughing.
They think it's a pile of snow.
They think it's snow.
It's nice.
Matt,
you think that's six inches.
No, no.
Listen,
I grant you that it's ice.
I completely grant that.
I'm not laughing at the amount of ice.
That is a lot to get rid of.
I will freely grant that.
Shannon,
I'm laughing at how hard or not hard he is picking at it.
Yeah.
Like, look at the beginning of that video.
He's just going,
he's just kind of pawing at it like a cat wood.
You guys come back and do it for an hour
And we'll see how you're doing
My back is killing me
It's not that funny over here
Like we can't get out of our neighborhoods
It's really hard
Jennifer still can't get out of her neighborhood
Out of her driving
So overall you're saying
I've had to take Abby to work every day
So overall you're saying
You think the cleanup is understandable
The big public roads
They have some spots they need to address
But like people saying put salt down
That's not going to do anything
And like some of these plows
They're just going to break the front
Trying to break it up
So I have a little sympathy
for how much ice. It definitely should be better. But like on Winchester Road, two lanes.
I shouldn't be driving 30 and have to lock up my brakes because the road just ended.
Stuff like that needs to be fixed.
Okay. Shannon, thoughts on the ride's video. Some more pictures coming in here.
No, I mean, that's a lot. Now, what is that? What am I looking at, Ryan? Is that your driveway?
That's yoga girls driveway in Georgetown. And they got more than we did. Yeah.
Okay, that would be, I will, I will great you. That would be very hard to get out.
I would just say for Ryan, I mean, if you're using that technique, you would have been out there for a month trying to dig out the slow as you were going there.
I mean, so did you even make any progress?
You guys just keep, go ahead, keep making fun.
Oh, he's getting frustrated at you, Shannon.
Are you mad?
Keep going. Keep talking all you're going.
He's been frustrated.
I like this.
I like a ride versus Shannon fight.
You don't get a lot of those.
No.
You don't get a lot of Ryan Shannon fight.
I love Ryan.
I love Ryan, but I'll tell you what, I wouldn't hire him to dig me out of my driveway.
the pace he's going.
Slow and steady wins the race.
It is trying to have a heart attack.
It is a slow and steady way.
It says the most dainty way I've ever seen anybody try to dig out of a driver.
Do me a favor.
I want you to tweet out that video so people can at least see your technique.
And then they can judge your technique because I don't think it's fair.
I think everyone should judge Ryan's technique.
I'm actually impressed looking at your technique how much of the driveway you got done.
How long were you out there? Five hours?
No, I was probably just an hour and I gave up.
I was like, man, I am war out. My back was hurting, so I quit.
Okay. All right. Well, just, will you put out your technique and then everyone can judge your technique on the arm?
Yeah, sure. I can't wait until they all make fun of me.
The video you all need is, I fell yesterday. It was one of those falls. I was in the air looking up my feet like old dude on home alone.
Oh, that was it on the back. Yeah. And I looked across, there was a woman.
Well, this wasn't ultimately, this wasn't supposed to be like an indictment of wrong.
Ryan. It was just supposed to be a question about whether or not you think. So you guys both
give passing grades to the to the snow enforcement. It's a it's a low passing grade. They
definitely could have done better, but I have some sympathy. I'll give them a C minus. All right.
What about you, Ryan? C minus is low now. Yeah. C minus is a low grade. Well, that's because I
shouldn't just be on a main road and run into a mountain. At least fix that. Now subdivisions and off
streets, I get it. But like new circles shouldn't still be one lane. Let's figure that out.
Citation, same way.
I mean, it took them three days.
I think he could get out there in the citations.
It's great.
Rides video.
The next time Kentucky gets down 26 in the first half.
And then they make like an and one to cut it to 23.
I want to tweet out Rides video and go chipping away at the lead.
You guys keep laughing.
You come over and do it next time.
Chipping away at the lead.
All right.
Hey, five.
It's not going anywhere.
You all can do this for a month.
It's going to be there today when I'm going to do the other.
half of it today. 7-7-2-7-7-5-2-4.
Yeah, go look at that video.
You all can judge for yourself as a text machine.
Kentucky and Arkansas play tomorrow night.
Ryan is hosting the Ryan Limon versus John Cal Perry Party.
I thought Mario did a good job.
You look buff there, Ryan.
You look like you've been working out.
Mario didn't do that.
That's a live photo.
He came over to my house and took it.
Well, you and Cal both look really good, I must say.
I thought it would be a good chance because when we led into the last game,
last year. Obviously, a lot of it was about Cal and where UK fans were. We're now a year away
from that. He beat us and rub. Kind of an embarrassing loss, especially the way it went down. But it's a
year from then. So I guess my question is now, I'll start with you, Drew. A year after that,
where is the UK fan base on Cal today versus where it was last year? And also, where are you
you personally on Cala Perry now a year and a half after he left.
Me and most people in my circle, all my buddies, you know, last year we were into it.
You know, we're watching his games, even some of his comments, probably obsessing over
a little bit, calling it hate watching, did that last season.
This year, this isn't me, you know, trying to act tough because we're about to play him.
I honestly haven't thought about him that much at all.
and until the Vandy game ended,
wasn't even really thinking that Arkansas is this Saturday.
So it's not nearly what it was a year ago.
Yeah, it's a little bigger than an Ole Miss or something different,
but I don't have anything remotely close to the feelings of last year
when he came in and ripped our heart zone.
Do you have like Anna, like, do you have Anna Moss?
I don't know if Anna Moss's work because I don't think you have that,
but do you root for him to lose?
Like I know last year when we were all sitting in Milwaukee,
We all were rooting for St. John's to beat Arkansas.
Are you rooting for him to lose games now?
I think last year I was kind of pulling for him because he had Adieu and Big Z and DJ.
They had some guys we're familiar with.
You were rooting for them.
Yeah.
And not against us, but like maybe in that St. John's game, I wouldn't know if I remember that, Shannon.
I kind of remember him rooting for St. John's in that game.
But go ahead.
Go ahead.
That's what I said.
No, I think I would probably pull for the Arkansas guys.
This year, no way.
But I'm telling you what, I am scared to death about this game tomorrow.
I mean, it could be, it could be ugly, and it scares me to death.
Well, I think we're going to lose.
I mean, I'm not scared because I think we're going to lose.
It's interesting, my feelings about Cal haven't changed a lot.
I still, I still Shannon root for them to lose.
Yeah.
But I've never had personal animosity, like, towards him, or at least not, you know,
Not really.
I do want them to lose in the same way that I want Duke to lose
and I want Louisville to lose and I want,
like basically Louisville Duke, Tennessee,
my entire life, at least since I went to,
at least since Christian Leitner's shot,
I've wanted those three teams to lose.
Louisville, Duke, Tennessee.
I want them to lose every game.
And when they play each other,
I just decide which one I want to lose less.
Arkansas, since Cal's been there,
is in that group for me.
And I mean, I'm just being honest.
They've joined that group.
Now, they're fourth in that group.
I still would rather Louisville, Tennessee, Duke lose than Arkansas.
But I would put them now in that group.
And I don't know.
At some point, they'll leave that group.
But Shannon, I think if I'm being honest, for me, they are still in that group.
For me, Arkansas has always been in that group because I hated them going back to the 90s with that 40 minutes of hell, Nolan Richardson, those teams.
And now that Calipari is there, it gives me even more reason to.
hate them. But I don't sit there and watch the games like I did last year. But I will also say
this, it does feel like a bigger game just because Cal is there. It feels like it's a special game.
Do you root for them to lose, Drew, or don't care? I mean, if I'm sitting down and I'm watching
the game and it's the second half and there's four minutes left and it's tied, yeah, I'm
probably leaning that way, but we're talking a fraction of my brain power thanks of Arkansas
or what they're doing this season. I do like a Monday column where I recap the SEC. I mean,
that's the extent of me keeping up with Arkansas, the same amount that I keep up with Georgia,
and that's where I'll learn most about them.
But on a Tuesday night, I don't sit down like, yeah, let's get Arkansas to lose.
They're kind of out of outside and out of mine this year.
Last year it would have been different, though.
Right.
Seems like a lot of people are taking up for your style.
Well, that's how you do it.
Okay.
You can just shovel out and get underneath there.
You can't.
You can't do metal shovel on your driveway.
Shannon, they're against you.
They're against me.
Well, both of us.
They're laughing at Ryan's.
They're against both of us.
Okay.
I think it's very dainty of you.
You got to do it soft.
You break up the top.
You can't hit your driveway with your snow shoveler.
That's true.
You know,
if he goes much stronger,
he will break the driveway.
That's right.
With all that force,
all that power.
He's going to break the drive.
That's a good point.
Drew makes a very good point.
You guys need to learn ice and snow and cleaning your driveway.
Can you borrow a shovel from a neighbor?
Oh,
yeah.
I don't think you can comment on this.
But then I was powerful, Shannon.
Right.
Once I had this shoveling it.
Ryan's just chipping at it.
We didn't have as much ice as though in Louisville.
So to be fair to them, they have a lot more ice than we had in Louisville.

Welcome back.
Most people on Ryan's side, I must say.
All people are on my side.
Not all.
All.
One person writes, Matt, the pyramids would still be built
being built if Ryan was in charge.
Which that's not nice, Shannon.
That's not nice.
I got 60 responses to my treat.
Every one of them are pro.
Drew and I.
Your what? Your treat?
My tweet.
I like the spelling on the tweet. That was my favorite.
Your spelling was very good.
A little bit of a hurry.
Good thing I didn't try to say the SEC tournament.
So when is it supposed to warm up?
I screw that up a lot.
When is it supposed to more?
We're getting more snow on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Oh, boy.
And I was explaining this to Shannon during the break.
Like the snow on our roofs and gutters are melting and like going on the driveway and refreezing.
It's somehow growing and getting worse.
You guys are ever going to come out of your house again?
He's going to be stuck there forever.
Well, Ryan's coming out tomorrow night.
Oh, is he?
How's he going to get out?
He got out. He got out.
He got out.
One person writes, Matt, I'd like to see you try to do this.
Ryan is doing it the only way it can be done.
done, you would hurt your back.
Probably so.
But, you know.
You wouldn't be doing it to begin with.
You paid somebody else to do it.
Well, you know, on my street, there was a group of, this is very, there was a group of
Mexican guys who were knocking on every door asking if people wanted them to shovel and
them to pay.
I was not there or I would have definitely said yes.
But they, I was, I wasn't there.
They were finishing when I got there.
But that seems like a good way to.
make, I would think, Ryan, a good little bit of money, right?
I don't have their names, but a group from Pikeville, young guys, they listen to our show.
They drove from Pikeville to Lexington, and they just happened to knock on my parents' door.
I don't know what they used.
They did an amazing job, and my parents speak about these guys from Pikeville, like their angels.
So if you are listening, thank you.
But to your point, people are just going around and doing what they can, you know, guys that are able to work.
It was very smart.
I mean, I bet you guys made, it was like three guys.
I bet just on my street.
They each made, you know, $150, $200, right?
Just watching them go.
And they were good.
Have you seen what they're doing in New York?
Did you see this machine they've got, Shannon, where they put all the snow in on fire?
Have you seen this?
They put the snow on fire?
So there's this machine.
They drive around town and it's like a big, it looks like a massive, like, dump truck.
And there's a fire inside of it.
And they're just taking bulldozers and,
Loading up the snow and putting it in the truck and setting it on fire.
And it goes away.
Yeah.
That seems kind of brilliant to me, or am I crazy?
They have to have something to get the water after the melts.
I don't know.
I couldn't tell from looking at it where the water went.
But it goes somewhere.
Yeah.
It goes somewhere.
It goes somewhere.
It goes somewhere.
It's brilliant.
But doesn't that seem like a smart?
Well, I mean, this is the city's doing it.
The city has these and they're sort of deploying them all over town.
It's what I saw.
Brilliant.
They called the hot tub.
The hot tub.
I've seen the videos.
I don't know how it works either.
You've seen the videos? Yeah, we need it.
I don't know how it works where that water goes, but I know exactly what you're talking about.
It looks awesome.
And like Shannon, it's kind of fun to watch.
They take these huge piles of snow, pour them in there, and then they're just gone.
And then they do another one.
Yeah, I'm trying to watch it right now.
And that's an interesting take on how to get rid of ice.
I mean, it works, though, right?
It seems like it works.
You're setting fire to the snow.
Yeah.
I've never seen that before.
I've never seen it before.
I've never seen that before, and I thought it was fascinating.
One person writes, Matt, if you were to do a poll of the UK fan base,
how many people do you think would be for if they could snap their fingers,
Cal being the coach now?
Not many.
I mean, I'm going to take the position.
What do you think?
What percentage?
I would say there's probably at least 25%.
I think there's a quarter of the fan base that would like that.
Yeah, maybe.
I think that's high.
But I think it's probably more than I would think.
My thing is, and this has been mine and Drew's contention for the whole time.
Drew, if he had stayed here, it wasn't going to be work here, right?
It wasn't.
He had that, let's raise a million dollars, and it's burned in my brain.
He raised $48,000 of the million in three weeks.
They were trying to raise a million at the SEC tournament, and they raised $48,000.
It wasn't going to work here.
And by the way, I will note, before everyone, like, and they're going to probably beat us tomorrow.
But before everyone loses their mind, last year, Kentucky had a better record than Arkansas.
They were seated higher in the tournament than Arkansas, and both teams went exactly the same spot in the tournament.
They both went to the Sweet 16.
This year, they have a better record than us by, I think, one game or two games.
But people that act like Ryan, there's this massive gap between what he's done and what even Pope has done.
And Pope has been somewhat disappointing this year.
It's not the gap everybody thinks it is.
We had a better year than they had last year.
Billy had some stats this morning in the pre-show, I think, Shannon, where their records are exactly identical.
Yeah.
So the records are identical.
So, I mean, for everybody who's like, well, I wish we had him, our records are identical.
Now, do I think they have a better chance of succeeding in the tournament this year than we do?
Yes, I do.
But we were better than they were last year.
Now, they beat Kansas and St. John's in the tournament.
Credit to them.
But they also, you know what they did in the Sweet 16, Shannon?
They blew a game they had won at the end.
Yep.
Yeah, they did.
They blew it.
We've seen that.
We've seen that.
We've seen that.
You know, so I don't know.
What do you think the percentage of people that would say that, Ryan,
that they would like to snap their fingers and he'd be the coach here.
It's a tough time to ask that question.
We're struggling right now and they seem to be playing pretty well.
But do you think it's 25%?
20?
I think maybe 15 or 20 somewhere in that ballpark a little bit.
I mean, it's easy to forget.
We're just, what, a year and a half from losing in the SEC tournament
and then Oakland to end his career here, how bad we felt.
We lost to Oakland, folks.
lost to Oakland with Reed Shepherd sitting on the bench.
We had Antonio Reeves, Reed Shepherd, Rob Dillingham.
Oh, yeah, Justin Edwards also a good NBA player.
And we lost Oakland.
Lost our last two games.
I think it's less than 10%.
I think you are high.
Yeah.
We remember those last four years.
Pope won more tournament games last year than Cal did in four years.
Good point.
There you go.
That's all you need to say right there.
We'll take a break and be right back.
Take your calls. KSR.
That's good.
T.J. Smith, personal injury attorney.
Call T.J. He'll make them pay.
Now, more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage.
Here's Matt Jones.
We always play these songs when Arkansas goes.
When we play Arkansas.
Arkansas is a state, Shannon.
Not fun.
No. No.
We went through there.
Went through the Ozarks.
Ozarks.
My favorite part of Arkansas was that little place called Huda Thunk it.
that was cool.
That was cool.
I'm trying to think.
I've been to Arkansas.
Well, here, turn it up.
This is how I feel.
That's exactly how I feel.
Why would you go back, Shannon?
What is there?
Nothing that I'm going to see.
The Bill Clinton Museum in Little Rock is cool.
Because it's a presidential museum where they actually talk about like his faults, too.
You know, they don't try to, that's, I think, a cool thing to do.
I'm trying to give it.
Drew, can you think of anything in Arkansas?
Fayetteville, of all the college, I mean, Fayetteville's nicer than you think, but I still wouldn't want to, I mean, I don't see any reason to go.
We did a night in Fayetteville and I enjoyed it, but we got there at night and went to like two places and then we're out in the morning, so I saw very little of it.
I enjoyed the two places we went, but I can't tell you anything about anything outside of that.
Apparently the city where all the Walmart executives live is nice.
It's like north of Fayetteville.
What's the name of that place?
Bentonville.
Bentonville.
Apparently that's nice, but I've never been there, so I don't know.
We kind of jumped over our trip through the Ozarks.
That's still maybe the scariest moments.
That's what we went off with.
Shane and I talked about it by a minute.
You guys did not skip the best, the worst part of it.
After we left that Johnham down station, you had zero gas,
and we still were like halfway to go through the Allegheny Mountains,
and there was no gas station.
I was convinced we got to walk in the middle of the night,
no street lights, completely dark,
try to find a gas station in the Ozark Mountains.
We did vote who were going to eat first.
We did vote who's going to eat first.
We picked you, didn't we?
Yeah.
We picked you because you were the oldest.
So you had the least life ahead.
That's why you didn't enjoy it as much.
It scared me to death.
I don't know how we got down there and found that gas station.
That was scary.
That was, it was so dark and we had nowhere to go.
Pitch black.
And you're at no gas.
Yeah.
That was scary.
I'll grant you.
I did an ESPN Final Four show in like Earl, Arkansas, I think was the name
of it at a Taco Bell.
But so, yeah, not a lot of great memories in Arkansas.
Apparently, Shannon, the, the snow thing is connected to the, they connect it to the sewer
and they dump the water into the sewer.
That makes sense.
I like that, yeah.
Melt it and drain it down a drain.
Feels like we should get one of those in Lexington, right?
We don't have it in the budget?
What's the problem?
At least get some flamethrowers and just go out there in the streets.
I'll just tell you, I thought it looked really cool.
when I saw the video.
And if it works,
apparently they use them,
drew at UPS,
out at the airport.
That's what they do
to get the UPS planes fly.
Well, we need some.
Whatever we paid for this bead statue
out front of the courthouse,
that could have bought a lot of hot tubs
to fix the snow.
Let's get our priority street.
You don't like the bead statue?
Every time I pass it,
I roll my eyes and think we paid money for that.
What is that?
What is that?
It's like $50,000 a year to upkeep or something crazy.
beads.
It's nice beads.
Who's next?
Let's go to David.
David.
Go ahead, David.
Hey, guys.
Hey, I want your thoughts on something.
Last year, you can watch
Hope's offense.
Man, it looked so good, enjoyable to watch.
This year, you know,
I mean, of course, you guys know what it looked like.
Is it the players?
Is it the change in his coaching style?
What you thought?
Well, I mean, I think it's the coaching style has adjusted because the players can't shoot.
And, Ryan, I would say that has made it a much less enjoyable way to watch.
I mean, what I have said is when we're not playing well, which unfortunately has been a lot of the time this year,
this looks like a Calipari offense without really good players.
And I appreciate the call.
That's how I felt, Ryan, a lot of sort of ISO,
standing around, setting a pick, and then trying to get to the basket,
but we don't have guys who can finish.
And Ryan, I think that's made it very hard to watch.
Without guys that can hit the three out there, our offense is awful.
And there's, like you said, a lot of dribble, dribble, dribble, dribble,
standing around, guys trying to go one-on-one, trying to play a little me ball.
If you tried to ask somebody, what kind of offense we're trying to run,
they couldn't tell you because it is non-existent.
I think it's like
I've said this before
Drew I think it changes half to half
possession to possession
Oh yeah I agree too
There was a stretch in the second half at Vandy
We just everyone on the team
I think each took a contested three
It's like they went on to the court and said
We're all going to take turns taking a bad three
I think they went 0 for four in a row
And I thought why am I just sitting here watching guys
I could go to the Y and just watch guys brick threes
Like there was just no offense at all
They were taking turns, just taking bad shots.
With that said, Ryan, you're going to be at the bar tomorrow night for this,
and we're going to win against Arkansas tomorrow, aren't we?
You're going to help us get the victory.
It could be a fun, fun night to pull that off against Arkansas, at Arkansas against Cal.
I just don't know what's going to happen.
Well, bring your shovel.
That's not the attitude we need for the Ryan Ribbon versus John Calapary watch party.
Have a big bowl of chili before the game starts.
I'll be feeling good.
All right.
Well, that's what we want.
Who's next?
Taylor.
Taylor, go ahead, Taylor.
Yeah, man.
Thanks for having me.
Two things.
One, about the snow shoveling.
I run a mobile coffee trailer and we normally go to schools.
Haven't been able to do that.
So my daughter wanted to make some money.
She's 10.
I want to make some money for college.
So I said, well, I'm going to go shovel some driveways.
So her and I probably made $500 shoveling snow.
just for two days.
I need to rewind just a second.
You have a 10-year-old daughter?
Yes, sir.
Yeah, I've got five kids.
Ten-year-old's my oldest.
And she's already thinking about paying for college?
Oh, yeah, absolutely.
Yeah, she wanted to think of ways that she could earn money
so that she could pay for college.
Well, that's a very, like, you know, forward-thinking daughter.
I would think most 10-year-olds would want to think about money
for like a doll or for you know something like frivolous she is actually already thinking about her
401k certainly she does not spend money she asked if we could open a savings account for her so that
she could do a better job saving is she in crypto talk to her about it we've talked to her about it
how to invest her money you've talked to her about the market at 10 years old oh absolutely yeah
Yeah, we're trying to explain those things to her so that she understands.
Nice.
Good for you.
It's important.
If we grow up and not know about it, then that's bad.
Is this Dave Ramsey?
No, no.
That's very impressive.
That's very impressive.
I didn't know I am, you have to have the only child I've ever heard of that's 10 years old shoveling snow to pay for college while also learning about the market.
So, I mean, I'm going to go ahead and say, I expect your daughter to be a huge success,
and that's very good of you to teach her those things.
I appreciate it.
Second thing was, we did go to Arkansas last summer.
Arkansas has a place called Crater of Diamond State Park.
It's the largest diamond quarry that's open to the public.
I think it's like top five diamond quarries in the world.
Pretty cool place.
You just go and dig for diamonds.
They just let you dig for diamonds?
Like you can just go dig for diamonds
And you can keep them?
Oh
Absolutely.
If you find something, you can keep it.
Anything you find.
Wow.
Yeah, it's pretty cool.
You should look it up.
Did you find any?
Did you find any?
We unfortunately did not.
There's normally about one a day is the average of what they, they, people find.
It's one diamond a day.
A lot of them are small, but there's been some, the Uncle Sam Diamond,
which is the largest diamond found in the U.S. was found there, and it was, I don't know, huge.
I mean, I can't remember how many cares.
Well, maybe I can take Ryan.
I appreciate the call with his digging technique, Shannon, with me to the quarry.
You better pack a lunch.
You're going to be there a while.
And find me a dime.
I don't think you want him doing your digging.
People are saying Hot Springs, Arkansas, Drew, with the Springs is nice.
We got pretty close to that on our travels, I think.
I remember either reading about it or we saw signs about it, but yeah, I'm familiar with that.
I think I've heard when my grandfather was alive many years ago, he had, like, arthritis pretty bad.
And he would go, like, once a year, Ryan, to Hot Springs, Arkansas and get in the springs, I guess.
And it gave him relief.
He really liked it.
Yeah, there's some hot springs in, like, French Lake, Indiana, West Baden, Indiana that became famous for people would come and bathe in those hot.
spring, try to relieve some pain from arthritis or aches and pains.
Yeah.
So maybe that is something.
And then we can go digging.
It's hard for me to believe there's just a place, Shannon, where you just get to go dig
diamonds and take them.
Yeah.
You would think they would have that reserve for diamond, like, miners.
Yeah.
Corporations would have just said, all right, it's ours, everything here.
Yeah.
I guess there's a chance that you could dig up a huge diamond that could be worth, you know,
10 grand or more.
Uncle Sam Diamond, he was talking about what's found there.
when was that found?
I don't know.
Recently, I'm looking it up now.
It's worth several million dollars.
Millions.
Just digging and you found it.
And when was it found?
What year?
I think it's,
oh, never mind,
1924.
It was put into the Smithsonian
fairly recently, I think.
Okay.
Yeah, 2019.
Surf Pro is your number one choice

Let's say your house floods

Well,
they've got a pro for that.
They'll come over.

happen. Franchise locations all across Kentucky, they've got them everywhere. We hope you don't need
it. But if you do, one call, servepro takes it all. It's servepro.com. S-E-R-V-P-R-O-com. That's
servepro.com. We'll take a break. Be right back. KSR. Last night, a blown call changed a game.

Welcome back.
It's Kentucky Sports Radio 859-280-2-8027.
One person writes, Matt, I love Drew,
but he's crazy.
The bead statue is one of the nicer things Lexington's put in.
What doesn't he like about it?
I thought he would appreciate art.
That's not a real text.
There's not one person in the world that sees that.
It is 6.06202.
Oh, so they don't live here.
They don't have to drive by it every day.
That is not.
I mean, they could live there.
They could live there and not have an 859 number.
I live there and don't have an 859 number.
There's not one person in this city that likes that.
It's supposed to commemorate Kentucky.
The artist isn't from Kentucky.
Nothing about it is Kentucky.
It's just a bunch of silver things I can't even say on radio hanging in front of our courthouse.
That's exactly what it was like it to put it there.
I don't know, but we got robbed.
One person at least liked it.
Well, I can tell you 606-202 likes it.
That's the sculptor.
Nice to meet you.
I wish you hadn't had to done it here.
Take your balls somewhere else.
Okay.
Slow down.
One person writes, Matt, what do you make of Pope's comments about recruiting yesterday?
You know, I mean, so did you see the comments, Ryan?
He basically said something to the effect of they asked him why he didn't have any commitments.
And if there was a problem with the fact that we're not playing well if that hurts in recruiting.
And he basically said, I like how he flipped it around.
He basically was like, well, sometimes not having any recruits and playing badly makes people want to come more.
Which I guess is a good spin.
Do you buy it?
I don't buy it.
I don't know if a recruit's going to be sitting there buying it,
looking how they play and just functional their offenses.
What makes you want to be a part of that?
I think his point is they might come in and think,
okay, well, then I'm going to get to play.
Well, more power to you,
but so far I think the recruiting class has zero and zero.
Nobody in that recruiting class.
What do you think of his argument, Drew?
I don't get to hear these live because they do them when we're on the air.
So I was prepared to go on.
This was yesterday. This was yesterday. I'm positive because I had multiple texts about his recruiting answer.
And I even wrote on our board, I'm probably five minutes into the YouTube video. And I write, I'm already not enjoying this. And several people wrote back, just wait for the recruiting answer.
Oh, wow.
So I think it got a lot of people noticed. And I even made a point to fast forward and find it because so many people were talking about it. And I wish I hadn't. I mean, this is what I talk about. Everything is not perfect.
Like when things are bad, him saying, well, recruits like bad. That's not true.
We're not going to believe that.
You can say I need to do better on the recruiting show.
Recruits like bad.
Recruits are looking for teams that stink.
That's what they're looking for.
They're talented players out there that like eighth place in the SEC.
Well, that answer reminds me of why every now and then Vanderbilt would get a good basketball player come there
because I knew they could play and be the guy on the team.
And now that sounds like what Kentucky basketball is becoming.
But he comes to his own point because he doesn't play guys a lot of minutes.
So the theory of a guy would be like, I can go.
save him and take all the shots. He doesn't give anyone that opportunity.
And I merely thought of Jack and Jacob's article they wrote a month ago, how he's bad as a
closer, can't manage the money. All that combined is just not good answers.
Yeah, I didn't like the answer. I'm not sure what he means. But, you know,
I'm kind of surprised we're now two years away from a coach that I kind of didn't want to listen
to do press conferences anymore.
And I'm kind of there again,
even though it's a very different person.
Like his style is very different.
But I just don't know that you get anything because I don't,
I think he intents.
I thought he would be one of the best coaches we've ever had at explaining,
et cetera.
And I think he is when we're doing well.
But when we're not,
it sort of becomes a word salad obtuse.
And I don't, I just find myself not particularly enjoyed it.
All right, who's next?
All right, this is Scotty, who you announced was about to become a father.
Oh, yeah.
So on Wednesday, we announced that Scotty was having a child, and this is that Scotty.
Am I correct?
Yes, it is, Matt.
Yes, it is.
Well, first of all, congratulations.
Yeah, congrats.
Thank you.
So, Scottie.
So, Scotty, tell me what it was like to hear that.
And did you know that I was talking about you?
Well, my wife, she's a social media.
to influence her and every once in a while she just kind of wants me to be in some of her content
and randomly she was like hey you've been helping me out a lot around the house and doing all
this stuff so i want you to listen to ksr she acts like she hates it but i know that she loves it
but uh yeah she just randomly put it on and then i heard you say my name and i was like what
i mean you got the video so it's i did see the video you did you look surprised and it
look like it took you a minute to process that it was you?
It definitely did.
It definitely did.
But once you said you're about to become a father, I was like, oh, wow, this is, this
is wild.
The first announcement what we had when our little boy was when he took hold and she
became pregnant, she bought one of those banners that you see flying down the beach off
the trailing of the airplane.
And it said, Scotty, we're about to become parents.
So, yeah.
Wow.
So she goes all out.
She goes all out.
Right.
So congratulations.
You got to be excited.
Did you hear from anyone to ask it?
Because I have a, I had someone write me who said they had like five, this was a different, Scottie.
They had like five friends right and go, dude, is it you?
And they weren't even listening to the show and it threw him off.
Did you have anybody wonder if it was you?
Well, despite your all's ratings, which also congratulations, congratulations.
I live in Crestview, Florida.
I'm from Kentucky originally, but the Air Force brought me down here, retired out of the Air Force,
and now I'm just chilling in Destin, Florida, Crestview, Florida area.
So, yeah, unfortunately, no one has talked to me about hearing that segment, but I did
want to call in and say, thank you so much.
I'm honored to be your first and only announcement.
It's going to be only.
I'm not doing it again.
Like, it's because it's unique.
I did it because it was unique.
And I thought it was, uh, it was very cool.
And congratulations.
And I assume you're going to name the, the kid, uh, Mario Franklin, uh, whatever your last
name is, right?
Maybe.
Maybe.
We can get through into naming it's naming his girl, Scotty.
I might be able to swing a Franklin.
All right.
We'll think about it.
Appreciate, uh, appreciate the call.
Thank you very much.
Yeah.
So that's awesome.
a cool, first ever KSR baby announcement happened this week.
As crazy as the story that is, I love hearing it.
I love hearing the other Scotty's who were like scared the death when they heard you say.
Oh, I've got a couple texts from Scotty's.
One of them said, one of them said, Shannon, I didn't think I had done a deed that could get that result in quite some time.
Well, he said, well, he said, though, my heart still skipped to beat.
No, I didn't think it was possible that I could have done it.
I thought was a really funny answer, to be honest.
Yeah, I mean, things have to occur to have a baby.
He was like doing, all right, carry the two, wait a minute.
You got some explaining to do.
So there you go.
All right, so Kentucky in Arkansas, what time we play tomorrow, 630?
6.30.
Weird time.
It is a weird time.
So we will, we're going to take a break.
We will come back.
Hour number two here on a Friday.
