Starting point is 00:02:48 Now, here's Matt Jones. Welcome, everyone. It is Kentucky Sports Radio Wednesday, February the 5th. I'm Matt Jones here live in San Francisco, California. It's Thursday. It is Thursday. But it is September 5th.
Starting point is 00:03:05 I don't think it's September. February 5th. I said September yesterday. Why did I do that? Football. You were already ready for next football season. I guess. I did like yesterday.
Starting point is 00:03:16 Mario asked me if the last game was Sunday. And that was fun. Yeah, the Super Bowl. They finished the year. Are we still doing game recap Sunday nights after this? 859-2-80-2287 is the Clark's Pubbushop phone line. A-V-V-Glass text machine is 772-7-7-4-25-4. sponsored by the T.J. Smith Law Office. If you call T.J. He'll make them pay. It is Thursday.
Starting point is 00:03:37 We've only been here 36 hours, but it feels like we've been here a long time. And in Billy's room again after we were here late last night doing a postgame show. Drew, it has been an excellent 36 hours, capped off by the Cats win yesterday. I was going to say, you know, we're going to talk a lot about our trip because we talked a lot about the game last night. That's not really true on the post game show. We tried. We did try, but we were giddy. And because we were giddy,
Starting point is 00:04:08 we ended up being... I even had Dan Fyfer, former ABC TV news analysts, go, you all sounded like you were on Gummys last night. And I promise you, we were not. But then someone said, that's what people who were odd gummies would say. So I guess there's no way to prove otherwise.
Starting point is 00:04:25 There are a lot of allegations of marijuana used. We were too busy yesterday to even stop if we wanted to. I mean, it was just one thing after another. That was just pure happiness. 14,000 steps yesterday. Those need to count as triple. These are not normal steps out here. My legs are still hurting.
Starting point is 00:04:40 But no, yesterday, truly one of my favorite days of all time. Not just with KSR. That was like one of my best life days. I agree. So we want to talk about some of it. 859-28027. We will talk about the game, I promise. But look, we're out here.
Starting point is 00:04:54 So I think we need to talk about being here. Now, our first episode, even the NFL has audio difficulties. at least when we're there. So they, wouldn't you scoot over and let Mario sit down, Billy? I'm not going to bite Mario. Come on right here.
Starting point is 00:05:07 You're getting dead with Billy. All right. So anyway, the first episode did come out. It's out last night. It has our interview with Mike Golick and with who's our friend.
Starting point is 00:05:19 Terrell Davis. Sean Alexander is listed on there, but they're putting that one out today. And I want you to listen to it. It also includes Stevie Johnson of Stevie Got Loose. fame and it was a lot of fun but but the highlight was just the day so I'm going to try to explain a little bit about what this is so people understand all right and feel free to jump
Starting point is 00:05:42 in when you walk in to NFL Radio Row it is a plethora of everything every TV station every TV show you can imagine is live there and every radio show you can imagine and every radio show you can imagine and podcast is there. Is that fair to say? Yeah, for people, imagine what you see on TV and you think that's like some big set. No, it's pretty small and they're just next to each other in a row. One after another. It's like walking through your TV.
Starting point is 00:06:12 So like I'll just think about going from around the side. So you're like, there's Pat McAfee. There's ESPN radio. There's CBS, Jim Rome, and all those people. There's Bleacher Report that looks to have spent $10 million on. on their set. There's Sirius XM with Stephen A. Smith, Chris Rousseau, Katie Nolan, right? There's the NFL network.
Starting point is 00:06:38 There's Matt and Drew. And Billy. The exact order. Why are we there? There's no reason for us to be there. Oh, look, there's Fox Sports Radio. There's Stu Gots and Dan Lebitard. Right?
Starting point is 00:06:51 There's Draft Kings. There's Fandul. You just circle around. And then on the inside are kind of the lesser things. And even those are like things you've heard of. They're Shannon Sharp. There's, you know, FIFA had a booth. FIFA had a World Cup booth.
Starting point is 00:07:08 And like in one of the prime slots are me and you. I don't know why. Stop. Why? We walked straight to the middle with the little tables because that's just our natural. Oh, this is us here where they have nothing available. Okay, yeah. They're like, no, no, that big set with the lights and the crew of 15 people waiting for you.
Starting point is 00:07:26 That's you all. And then you get on the set, it's amazing what lighting can do. I felt handsome for the first time in my life. Like you get lights and a good camera, and you're like, whoa, my eyes are blue. That's nice. Like, you want to feel good about yourself? Have someone take a picture of you on a TV studio set, Billy. Yeah, the set was incredible.
Starting point is 00:07:52 I thought the same thing we were going to get the table next to the water fountain. I mean, no. And we're going to be on a different set today. We've got a lounge set. Today, we're going to be on their casual couch set, which yesterday, while we were sitting there, had the workaholics. And the Vanderpumps. And the Vanderpumps were there. Hello, Miss Vanderpump.
Starting point is 00:08:12 I didn't know what to say to the Vanderpumps. I was geeking out at Adam Devine, Kelvin Jimstone. I wanted to sing to him and say that I was going to run around the house with a pickle in my mouth. But I was way too happy to see him because I didn't expect to see someone like that there. No, we told him, you know, we're a sports show, but we would do reviews of your episodes on Mondays after watching him. And right after that, and I could tell he was loving it and he was being all nice, I was like, this is the part where Matt's going to sing. I felt it in my bones. You thought I was going to see?
Starting point is 00:08:44 I was like Matt is going to baby Billy him right here on this set. I was prepared. I don't think he would have. I think I would have been embarrassing. But I wanted to baby. You know who's on there today? I looked at right before us on that set. what's his name?
Starting point is 00:08:59 Bowen Yang, the two the guy that you see on Saturday Night Live. And then, like, he has a podcast with, like, another gay guy. We'll go talk SNL. They'll probably have us on as a guest, I would think. We're on there right before us. It's them and then us.
Starting point is 00:09:15 When these people say the Vanderpontz. Martha Stewart's going to be there today, too. We got to interview Martha. Martha Stewart. What if we get Martha Stewart today? See, those are the kind of guess we need. We do.
Starting point is 00:09:27 With all due respect to the second string linebacker from the Colts that we have on the schedule tomorrow. So who do we have today? We have Christian Watson and when some guy I've never heard of. A defensive tackle. Yeah. From the, from the, yeah,
Starting point is 00:09:40 it's a big major, and don't tell them, I said this. It's a big major step down and guess. Like, yesterday was just a murderous. That was silly. I mean,
Starting point is 00:09:48 you start with Terrell Davis. Then you come to Mike Golig. Then you come to Sean Alexander. and then you get busing with the boys. Joe Milton, who I didn't have a lot to talk about, but it was nice. Christian McCaffrey is then next. And who was last? Bryce Young.
Starting point is 00:10:06 Bryce. Only Bryce Young. What? We sang to him. We sang to him. We did. We sang if I had $150,000. I'm not going to do the gilly thing, but so many of those people, all of them, they
Starting point is 00:10:20 had a busy day. They could have walked to the next set immediately. Shaking hands. Thanks, guys. Most of them hung around. and talked off the air just being like over the top nice to us like Bryce young was like all right Bryce you can leave now you don't have to like hang here all day but like you think their crew would usher them off but they just wanted that was the my biggest takeaway was how nice all those people were
Starting point is 00:10:40 like the buzzing with the boys people like they are they've literally got tons of people following them around everywhere they go like fans I don't know how those people got in there but they couldn't be nice and they acted like we were all friends and I felt bad giving him a hard time about Will Stein, which I did, and he took it completely fine, right? And I mentioned my guy Manning here before he, he was a big Panthers, Bryce Young fan. And Bryce Young, that was cool. I told him that. He pulled me aside.
Starting point is 00:11:07 He's like, let's get a picture and send it to his friends and family. And I'm like, that is just so nice. That was really nice. For people who don't know, Drew's friend Mani was a big Panthers fan. And Bryce Young wanted to do something for his family. How nice is that? I said, Bryce, I know you played well, but Mani actually carried you to the playoffs. I just need you to know that.
Starting point is 00:11:23 He took it in stride and said, let's send a picture to everyone. So that was, that was great. The Stevie Johnson thing, though, maybe the highlight. So we're sitting there, and we see a guy wearing this ridiculous buffalo bills like Fred Flintstone had. And we go, look at that guy. And then all of a sudden, I think you said, it's Stevie Johnson. Oh, I screamed. I threw my fly guy hands together immediately.
Starting point is 00:11:50 So we stand up and we do the fly guy. he sees us, comes running over, pulls off his Buffalo Bills hat, and has a Kentucky hat in the Bills hat. My man was walking around with a Kentucky hat in his Bills hat, which shows he loves Kentucky. Who does that, right? And he was pretty far away. I don't know what he was supposed to be doing. He sprinted to us. Came under our little rope area we had. You were like, you got a few minutes? Of course I have a few minutes. So he sits down with us. He was not on the schedule. And it was a great conversation. You can hear it. It's on the cover Zero podcast. It's the very first thing. So you definitely want to hear that. And while you're doing it, go ahead and
Starting point is 00:12:31 subscribe to it. That would be nice. He, he, uh, you brought up the rap he did before the LSU game. I might be one of three people that still listen to that regularly. You brought it up. And in one of the most amazing things I've ever seen, he remembered the whole thing and did it right there with Drew chipping in throughout. I'm telling you. I don't know what's more impressive that he remembered it or that you remembered it. Got the whole town yelling big blue. It's true.
Starting point is 00:13:05 But that, I mean, as cool as the stuff on the set was, you might be right. Just the surprise of the impromptu interview of Stevie Johnson and him remembering that song almost 20 years later. And I got to tell Stevie Johnson that Stevie got loose came from us. He didn't know. He knew it came from somewhere, and he knew it. But I was like, Stevie. That came from my friend who was drunk in the parking lot going,
Starting point is 00:13:34 Stevie got Lou. And he was like, no way. He was like, I've always wondered. And I got to tell him that. Philly, that way, I mean, you're too young to appreciate how awesome that was, but that was awesome. Well, you could just hear it in his voice, the joy. I mean, he was so appreciative of everything that Kentucky had done for him.
Starting point is 00:13:50 and it was perfect besides me screwing up the dapp, which Mario recorded. That was a bad dab by you. You're not a dapper. I appreciate him going in for a dapper, but I just didn't get that. Have you ever done a good dap? I'm more of a firm handshake looking at the eye kind of guy. Maybe get your business card. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:14:08 Someone yesterday replied to a video and said I had a clean dap, and I've got to be honest, I've never gotten a better compliment. That made my day. Because when you have a bad dap like Billy, it gets called out. You look like you don't belong there. And I'm not a great dapper either. I looked into it, but it looked clean. I always just shake hands because I don't want to have the weird dap.
Starting point is 00:14:27 If somebody leans in for a hug, I'll do the bro hug. But I try to just, hello, sir. But it's like when Joe Milton's got his hand up, it's like, oh, no. Oh, that was another one. You'll hear this. I think it'll be out today. Mario was making fun of me because I asked Joe Milton if food gets stuck in his grill. Why is that a bad question?
Starting point is 00:14:47 He was immediately like, no, you just floss. But it feels like it's a good question. It was hard because we didn't know what to ask Joe Milton. I mean, let's be fair. Like, what are you going to ask him? I'll be honest when he walked on set. I didn't know who he played for. I almost brought up the last maybe two teams ago.
Starting point is 00:15:05 I pulled that Patriots question out of the vote. Do you know when Will Ferrell blacks out? And he's like, where he was? I didn't know. He played for the Patriots. I was impressed you came up with that. Lucked into that one. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:15:13 And I did so I was like, well, I'll sing Rocky Top to him. And I'll get him to finish the words. And so I went, once I had a girl on Rocky Top and he was like I don't know that song and I go how do you not know that song you played for Tennessee he was like eh although he did a good line he said I heard it a lot when we played you all I was like yeah got me but it was awesome and then all day you're just looking around and you're like oh there's Cam Newton hello T. Higgins and
Starting point is 00:15:47 Jammar Chase like if you look at one of them our videos when we're talking to Sean Alexander T. Higgins and Jemar Chase just walked by our shoulders. That's like every NFL player you can think of. When I walked in nearly not Joe Flacco on
Starting point is 00:16:03 his ass. I wasn't even through the door yet. You were like three steps in the door and you and Joe Flacco just almost collide. He's got all his little flackos with him. Yeah, I almost brought down Flacco. The whole Flacco family you almost took them out as we're stepping into the building. And then you see like random
Starting point is 00:16:19 people and like you would see them out on the street you might get excited they don't register in there like hey brock heward oh you don't i don't have time for you heured i got listen come on don't macab's right there donnav McNabb's right there don't shanan don McNabb he's not been in the way room oh is he is he not the same donovan mcnab he was when he was well i mean not some of these guys look like they could still play yeah Darrell Davis. Terrell Davis looks like Sean Merriman, look like he could still play.
Starting point is 00:16:52 Joe Flack or Donovan McNabb's not playing. To get the dead bug going on at least. Well, that's, that'd be generous. I mean, he does have a vault of Campbell's chunky soup. I mean, he's. Yeah, that's true, Drew. I'm not judging him. Okay.
Starting point is 00:17:08 So, with all of that said, though, in my opinion, not the best moment. Yep. The best moment was we had a run in with ice. The ice? The ice. Not vanilla ice cream. Ice. But it's not what you think.
Starting point is 00:17:31 And we'll talk about that after this break. What a tease. Cover zero. KSR met ice. And it was really an interesting interaction. That's next right here on KSR. Last night. A blown call changed a game.
Starting point is 00:17:47 This morning, the internet lost its mind. Highlights are trending, opinions are flying, and nobody's telling you exactly what happened. That's where SportsClice comes in. Starting point is 00:19:01 And we're still chasing it. And we don't know when we've done enough. Because people scoreboard watch. Life becomes about wins and losses. Steve Burns, Dustin Ross. Because you find it important to be a good person while you hear on earth. Are you a good person because you're afraid? Because that's two different intentions, bro.
Starting point is 00:19:18 Absolutely. And that's two different levels of trust. I want you to just really be a good person. This linebacker, this linebacker walks up to me, he goes, Hey, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her. What? Quarterback on office blue with 42. Hey, rec, my mama want you to wave at her.
Starting point is 00:20:02 What? Where's she at? Hey, Miss Parker. Listen to the Clifford show on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast. Starting point is 00:21:06 Listen to deeply well with Debbie Brown from the Black Effect Podcast Network on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Welcome back. It is Kentucky Sports Radio. 859-2-80-22-87. Text machine 772-7-4-5-25-4. One person writes, Matt, my wife and I, love your show.
Starting point is 00:21:27 We're currently listening to it while getting an ultrasound for our son coming in May. I'm sure the ultrasound tech is enjoying it as much as us. Hello to the ultrasound tech, and good luck on the ultrasound. And go cats and go baby. Yeah, I know about those ultrasound trips right now. I hope everything is going well with them. Yes, I do as well. One person says, Matt, singing Rocky Top to cater to a Tennessee player is gross.
Starting point is 00:21:52 I've said this before. I kind of like Rocky Top as a song. I don't like it when they play it when they score, but I mean, I like that kind of music. What do you want me to say? Half Bear, the other half cat. I know it better than the Tennessee players. Yeah, if you don't want Matt singing it, at least he had a Tennessee quarterback admit that he didn't even really know. Yeah, I got to admit one of their quarterbacks doesn't even know the song.
Starting point is 00:22:16 Yeah. So it worked out in your favor. You weren't trying to embarrass him, but it might have come off that way. I really wasn't trying to embarrass him. You just want to sing. One person was right, I think one of the reasons everybody was so nice to you as they thought Jeff Saturday was on the set. Great moment.
Starting point is 00:22:31 First of all, you do look like Jeff Saturday. I've gotten that before. Former Indianapolis Colts player and coach, actually. Tony Dungey came and pulled on Drew's the best way to pull on his shirt like a little child. I was on an elevated surface and someone just kept pulling on me and I'm like what who is this and actually will from bus with the boys said Tony Dungey is pulling on you and I'm like what and I turn around and we lock eyes and Tony Dungey looks at me and it's clear he has the wrong person and he is
Starting point is 00:23:03 oh no he was I saw this he was giddy to talk to you and I was like have Drew and Tony Dungey been carrying on a toward love affair that I didn't know about like how how because because he had that look like I am so excited to see you. And then Drew turned around, and the disappointment was so palpitable on his face. And then there was this awkward. You gave each other a fist bump. I looked at him basically. I think my eyes told him, I realize that you don't really want to talk to me.
Starting point is 00:23:35 So let's just acknowledge this mistake and we'll both move on with the lives. And we don't have to talk about it. Yeah, I gave him that. I feel like we had a full conversation with our eyes. You did. And then he just boled it all. And then he was like, hey, hey, hey. and then we went back to his...
Starting point is 00:23:46 And then we went right back to what you do. He was just yanking on my shirt trying to speak to me. All right, Shannon, I want to tell you this story. Okay. Do you, like you, all right, so, I mean, you've watched the news. ICE has been in the news, right? We know what's been happening with ICE. So this is not what I thought was going to happen if I...
Starting point is 00:24:05 So we're sitting there and a man is pulling this briefcase on wheels, like a huge briefcase. Shannon, just to describe to you, think about how big our traveling equipment is. that big rolling, you know what I mean? Yeah, yeah. The equipment like for the radio show. Right. It was about this big. And he's rolling it through this room.
Starting point is 00:24:24 And all of a sudden he stops and he looks at me and he goes, hey, you're the guy from wrestlers, right? And I was like, yeah. How did you know that? Although oddly, a lot of people recognize me from wrestlers. Apparently a lot of people watch that. And I was like, yeah. And he goes, and he goes, hey, yeah, I love that show. And I'm like, oh, you know, so now I'm.
Starting point is 00:24:46 making small talk and I go yeah what do you do and he's like I'm with ice border patrol and so I try not to have like a physical reaction I'm like oh okay yeah I was like what what are you doing here because you know that's been in the news that they were going to be at the super bowl and like there was controversy I thought maybe I was going to be breaking journalistic news and he goes oh you know well we just uh we just got a counterfeit Lamberti trophy he's like oh okay he was like yeah There's a guy out there acting like he had the 85 San Francisco 49ers Super Bowl trophy, so we took it from him. That's his job?
Starting point is 00:25:24 Because I didn't know Shannon that ICE did that. Yeah, I thought they were born in for Joe. And then he opens, he goes, he looks at me and he goes, you want to see it? And I was like, sure. Yeah, I will do. Let's look at it. And so he opens up this briefcase. And not only is that in there, there are like 25 counterfeit Patrick Mahal.
Starting point is 00:25:46 Holmes jerseys. He was like, yeah, we're just seizing fake merchandise. Ice and Border Patrol are walking around just taking fake merchandise, like people are selling. And then rolling it through Radio Row. And then rolling it through Radio Row. And then just showing it to people. So then he hands us, Shannon, this fake Super Bowl trophy. Drew and Billy and I pose with it. It says 49ers dolphins on it. We hold it. People then think that it's the real trophy, so Shannon, a line develops of people wanting to hold the fake Lombardi trophy. People don't care. So we take these pictures, and then this guy from ICE goes, hey, post that picture.
Starting point is 00:26:29 Just make sure you tag Ice. Just so you know that it's the fake one. He wants me to hold up a fake Super Bowl trophy and go, thanks, ICE. He gave us their Twitter handle. He gave us their Twitter handle. So I had no idea that Border Patrol and ICE. I've been seen on the news. Did you know they seized counterfeit football material?
Starting point is 00:26:54 I'm not convinced they're the real ice that you met. That may be fake ice out there. I didn't know that ice was on patrol. Well, see, I will say, one of the guys with the NFL did look at me and say, you sure that guy was. He had a pen on his suit. He did have a pin, though. They were wearing suits.
Starting point is 00:27:12 They were wearing suits. They were wearing suits. he had an ice border patrol pin there were about six of them with this one crate yes there were a lot of guys like if they were pulling off a ruse it was a heck of a ruse but i don't think they were i think they were because they also had gotten in so they had to have had credentials or something i mean i didn't know we had that division where we're going and getting counterfeit pat my home's jersey but there was like 15 jerseys and one trophy and six guys in suits carrying it around.
Starting point is 00:27:45 Like, maybe just let the Pat Mahomes guy have his 15 jerseys. But we were talking about, Shannon, if you, in other contexts when people seize things, they don't have the general public, like, pose with it. Like, if they seize $50,000 worth of cocaine, they don't just let people go, hey, you want to pose with the cocaine? Right, yeah. Like, we were posing. When we were posing, like, I took Matt's picture, Billy took my, you know, we had a rotation.
Starting point is 00:28:11 When this line formed, everyone was by themselves. So the actual ICE people were taking the photos for each fan and the trophy. They'd like set up basically a trophy. I'd be digging into that bag. What else is in there? Can I pose with this? Like, what else is in that bag? It was just a thing I didn't know they did.
Starting point is 00:28:30 It's like a lot of people don't know the Secret Service does counterfeit money. ICE must be in addition to trying to find illegal immigrants looking for illegal Patrick Mahomes jerseys. And we're cheesing hard in that photo, at least honestly. I am. Well, it was just a bizarre occurrence. And it's the Lombardi. We'll be right back, KSR. T.J. Smith, personal injury attorney.
Starting point is 00:28:52 Call T.J. He'll make them pay. Now, more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. Here's Matt Jones. I mean, I'm not proud that I like the song, but it's objectively a good song. Wild is a meat, but sweet as sody pop. I'll sing it on the post game show a few weeks ago. I mean, I don't, I hate that it's their song, but what am I supposed to do? It's written by two guys from Kentucky.
Starting point is 00:29:17 Like, you got to, what are you going to do? Can we go take it? I mean, we took the checkerboards, so. We gave it back pretty quickly, though. Not quick enough. We kept it for a while. All right, so ICE stands for immigration and customs enforcement. So customs is materials.
Starting point is 00:29:36 I don't know if they were thinking that those jerseys were, like, imported from, well, maybe they are, probably. I mean, I've got a woman in China, her name's Rose. She emails me all the time. You get all kinds of stuff from Knock off. You should have just turned yourself in. Yeah, I thought they were there to get me. I was like, oh, no, they found out about Rose. But the taggis on social media on the way out.
Starting point is 00:29:57 I like the taggis on social media. You know, they need some good, they need some good publicity. I was shocked, by the way, Shannon, how many people, I had three different people come up to me yesterday and recognize me from wrestlers. That's crazy. That show came out three.
Starting point is 00:30:12 years ago. Yeah, but you know, it's on Netflix. It's out there all across the world. So I guess maybe a lot more people watch that than what we thought. You know, when we're in Chicago. I saw the numbers. Yeah. Yeah, I saw the numbers. I mean, we had a lot of people watch it, but it was, you know, I just think because in Kentucky, people only talk to me about Kentucky. So it's just, but you're right. We had it in Chicago and it's just, having three times yesterday, it threw me off. So, you know, there you go. One person writes, Billy has gotten to hear me preach a couple times on topics when things come up. You know, you heard me yesterday when somebody, when we were talking about something. I ended up preaching. Somebody writes, Donald Trump this morning, Matt, was at the National Prayer Breakfast and said he doesn't understand how a Christian could be a Democrat. What's your response? My response is my relationship with Jesus Christ does not need Donald Trump's approval.
Starting point is 00:31:09 There's nowhere in the Bible that says I need Donald freaking Trump. Trump to tell me about my relationship with Jesus. Now I'll move on. There's been a couple rants on the trip, expecting a couple more. But you seem to like them. I do like it. Because you ask me questions. I like talking to you about things because you ask me questions and are thoughtful.
Starting point is 00:31:29 Yeah, I don't know much about it, but I like to learn. I know much about it. All right, so a couple people have asked me about Billy here. What a day. I'm going to clap. All right, so let's just talk about Billy's day. yesterday. First of all, you don't get to jump in until we say, Billy.
Starting point is 00:31:49 What did you think about Billy at the thing? Reversible quarter zip. Or one half of the quarter zip to the NFL thing, the ESPN VIP party last night, flipped the quarter zip to the other side. Incredible. You like that work? I'll say I was confused because I thought the point of the quarter zip was to help with packing. So like Navy sides Wednesday, Grayside's Thursday, but he flipped midday for different events.
Starting point is 00:32:13 My brain wasn't ready to see that kind of transition. We saw a couple people at both events. They had to be like, oh, this man's wild. Because everyone else, you know, the same people just saw him a little bit ago. I didn't even know who you were. Blue at Meteor Row, gray for the ESPN party. And the highlight, everyone that listened to yesterday's morning show, we were giving Billy a hard time about the quarter of zips. Terrell Davis, first guest.
Starting point is 00:32:38 He and Billy are both wearing Navy quarters of us. Shannon, Terrell Davis, they're wearing the same quarter zip. Oh, he's got a reversible? No. When we mentioned it was reversible, Terrell Davis goes, well, I don't know if I would do that. Yeah, it's the same shirt after all. It kind of blew his mind, too. It did kind of blow his mind.
Starting point is 00:32:57 Now, I watched Billy all day because I was keeping an aisle. Because, you know, I mean, this is on this show's dime, or at least the NFL's dime. I don't want Billy spending too much time trying to get other jobs because that's essentially what he was insinuating yesterday. First time he tries to give somebody his digital business card, doesn't work, Shannon. Hey, the guy he tries to give it, doesn't work. Awkward situation. But then, Billy, you went back to the guy a second time. Am I right?
Starting point is 00:33:27 No, you got it a little mixed up. The first guy I met had his own digital business. Oh, okay. Billy got reverse Uno with the digital business cards. I tried to give a mind. He had his own. He said he worked for I-Heart. He said, that's become a thing.
Starting point is 00:33:40 Everybody at I-Hart has to have a digital business card. I was like, what do you mean? I don't think that's true. We don't have three people here shaking their head down. So I stand his card and his didn't work. So we're saying the whole system is built on faulty intelligence. I guess, but mine's working and planning on handed it out a couple times today. You know what does work?
Starting point is 00:33:59 Handing somebody a physical business card, that always works. It does. That does work. But what did you say on the pre-show this morning, Shannon? Half the time, more than half the time, you just throw that business card away. That is true. That is true. Whether you like it or not.
Starting point is 00:34:11 You're like you, too. At one time when Apple made us all have a U-2 album, that's what you're like. Yeah. So I talked about being a little nervous for this and being really excited, but the Torel Davis wearing a quarter zip, the first interview calmed me down. I knew, like, we were in our element. We got to talk about him thinking food was overrated. So, like, it just kind of, it kind of became real at that moment.
Starting point is 00:34:32 I talked about this on the post game show, so I won't go into it as extensively here. But then we take him to the ESPN party, where he's literally Shannon in a room with the president of ESP. That's the guy you want to get the digital business card to you right there. Billy doesn't even talk to anyone in that room. Instead, he watches the Kentucky game on his phone and screams, way to go, Colin, with two different ESP and executives within three feet of it. Man, is excited about the game.
Starting point is 00:35:03 And most of them came over to meet us. Billy did not speak to them. Mario said hello. introduced himself to Burke Magnus, the president of ESPN. Billy is just over there going, come on, B.G. Get your head in the game. The best is when the most important people in the room were right next to our table, and Billy hits the Mike Breen bang, right before half time with Colin Chandler.
Starting point is 00:35:28 Literally. President of ESPN walks by, and Billy goes, bang, Colin Chandler. Hey, he was excited about the game. It's like, that was your chance. I would have introduced you to them. Although I met them for the first time, but I could have then introduced you to them. Yeah, I probably should have done more networking at that event than I did. But I had a postgame show that we needed to talk about later.
Starting point is 00:35:52 I thought I was doing my job. A little bit, yeah. Yeah. There was about a 15-minute period where you disappeared. Were you going trying to talk to other companies? Did you have a job interview during those 15 minutes? No, no. I saw a couple of people I knew.
Starting point is 00:36:09 Who do you know? Some people from 104-5, The Zone. What is that? It's a station in Nashville that I interned at back in the day, so I got to see them. And then we talked about the people in Tampa that got their digital business card from. But it probably just came out wrong yesterday. I'm not actively looking for a new job. Well, I mean, we weren't the only ones that thought that.
Starting point is 00:36:31 I think pretty much the whole audience thought that. Well, then I got a Tom Hart shout-outs during the game. So let's talk about Tom Hart. Tom Hart essentially made Billy his entire game call. Brought up quarter zips. Brought up digital business cards. Brought up, brought up trying to get a new job. Billy, are you serious after a dog?
Starting point is 00:36:51 Billy, are you serious? He brought up lather, which I can't believe he said on national television. That was in honor of Ryan. Falling for stuff on Facebook. I mean, he was on one yesterday. It was a Tom Hart legacy game. Billy was a huge part of that. I looked at my phone.
Starting point is 00:37:09 He had mentioned me three times already, and then tweeted mid-game. I mean, there's nobody doing it like Tom. He's the best with his relationship with BBN. It's special. And I texted him after the game, Shannon, and said, you sure mentioned Billy a lot, and that's awesome. And he goes, well, I have to help Billy get a new game. That's true, yeah.
Starting point is 00:37:27 Tom knows the people. He used to get your car. Yeah, Tom can help me out. He was trying to help Billy have his chance at his dream, which is apparently getting away from us. There was a moment at the ESPN thing where it was just me and Billy, and he had just found out the Tom Hart stuff. I was trying to get a little serious with him. I'm like, Billy, this really is a hell of a day you're having.
Starting point is 00:37:47 You like soaking it in because, I mean, just as excited as you were for Radio Row. And then, you know, we got there. We weren't even sure what the set was going to look like. And then they had extra seat. You're up there with us. It got to be a part of everything we did. So you had an incredible day. I mean, I was happy for myself, but just as happy for you, too.
Starting point is 00:38:03 Yeah, so I do want to say that for a second. This was like your dream. Like, you've talked about how you've wanted to be at this event, this radio row thing, like your entire life. Yeah. What was it like for you? Well, it meant a lot for you guys to include me, to allow me to ask questions, to talk to Mike Golick, the quarter-zip stuff. Like, I appreciate you guys looping me into that. It was really cool.
Starting point is 00:38:26 And surreal. I mean, I don't think it hit me for a while that I was there. And really overwhelming. I don't know about you guys, but walking in and everybody there, it was just crazy. It was just crazy. but it was just a personal goal of mine. People may think Radio Row is cheesy, but that is always something I wanted to do. Yeah, screw those people.
Starting point is 00:38:43 Like, there's a lot of people that, like, have been there a lot that go, oh, this is, like, no, it's not lame. It's awesome. It's, I mean, if you get to the point in anything in life that's something cool and you're like, I don't care anymore, then you shouldn't be doing it. Right. Like, we get paid to do the coolest things in the world. To come to the Super Bowl and sit and, like, do this.
Starting point is 00:39:07 I mean, there's so much suffering in the world. And we have been blessed to get a chance to, like, literally follow our dreams. These jaded sports riders, I want to tell them to all blank off. Because, like, you could be, you know, you could be doing a million. You could be in the Sudan. I mean, you could be, like, working in something that, like, at least enjoy your blessings. And I appreciate that you enjoy your blessings. And you deserve to get to sit on that set.
Starting point is 00:39:37 And you deserve the world to see your quartership. I mean, like, that's... What colors we're going with today? Oh, I got, like, a brown one that's reversible to, like, a different shade of blue. It's a different shade of blue that I have. Oh, it's brown and blue, okay? Oh, wow. That's big time.
Starting point is 00:39:52 Well, if you're... Now, Drew had a nice interaction at a urinal yesterday. This is top three moments in KSR history for me. I've been waiting for. It is the wonderful Kentucky Sports Radio. 859-2-80-2287. Text machine is 7-7-7-7-4-7-7-4. Rob Dillingham was just traded to the Chicago Bulls. It's probably good for him. He'll get to play,
Starting point is 00:44:31 probably play through some of his mistakes. And he really hasn't been able to get consistent run, because Minnesota is too good. You know, it's been tough for him. He's only been in the league for two years and just already traded. It's unfortunate. Yeah, I thought he'd have a little bit of a slight breakout this season in year two, but just hadn't had his opportunities. He looked good last summer in the summer league,
Starting point is 00:44:53 and Wolves fans were getting excited. He just wasn't getting the minutes. So hopefully Chicago and the situation they're in will give me an opportunity to show what he can do. Yeah, 859-2-2-287. Text Machine is 772-744-5-254. All right, so for people we don't know, Drew has one of his favorite athletes of all time is Derek Henry. Derek Henry, King Henry. And you got to pee with him.
Starting point is 00:45:17 I did. I knew. You put it that way. I knew he was on the premises. I knew there was an opportunity to meet Derek Henry. But this is a very big convention center. I saw him from a distance a couple times. I thought, you know what, I'll eventually.
Starting point is 00:45:29 Well, you talk about that guy who's big. He's massive. He is a, I mean, like, looks like do not want to mess with that guy. Yeah, I can confirm. But I go to the bathroom, and it is a, well, Matt was in there first. I guess I had more water. Matt steps away, and I'm the only person in the row of urinals. But then this guy stands directly next to me at the, not even leaving one between us, which is bad etiquette.
Starting point is 00:45:53 And I'm like, who is this? And I kind of just looked to my left. Because it was an empty bathroom. Completely empty. And came right next to you. And this person was big, and their shoulder was up against my shirt. shoulder and I kind of had to lean to my right like dude big bathroom here and I look and it's Derek Henry it's just me and him there against the wall and I thought of all the places this is
Starting point is 00:46:11 the one place in this entire venue where I don't think I can speak to him anywhere else I would have gone up said Derek Henry so is there any part of you that wanted to say to him because I agree with you you cannot speak to someone while standing at the urine like hey man I have every I have your home away and alternate jersey I mean this is your guy this would be I think the equivalent for me would be if I was at the urinal and there was Ellie De La Cruz. I mean, I've had years and years and years and years. Then how about Rod Brindamore?
Starting point is 00:46:41 That's, you know, goes back 50, you know. I drove to Kansas City to watch this man in the NFC championship, countless Titans games, multiple jerseys, and my first time meeting him in a person were both a little busy. Can't shake hands in that month? I didn't. I just walked out and I was laughing because I was like,
Starting point is 00:46:59 that is the most ridiculous thing that will have. happened this entire week, but I didn't get to say hi to him. But I did in some, can I call it meeting him? I mean, you met part of him. I wish this weren't on live video. I have so many jokes. You all have even heard a few of them. I just better not.
Starting point is 00:47:18 You had a good one that. I think everybody would like. Yeah, but my friends have gotten here a lot of those. But, I mean, I guess I'm glad I got to meet Derek Henry. I'm not going to shut up. But of all the places to meet him. Well, that's the right move. There's one sacred area.
Starting point is 00:47:33 that I could not speak to him, and that's where we ran into each other. Matt, if you had that happen to you? And also, why did he go to the one right next to me? I think he wanted to speak to. There was a whole wall. Take your pick, Derek. I think he was hoping to have a conversation. I think he looked at you. He was really leaning into me.
Starting point is 00:47:46 He saw the Titan shirt, and he was like, let's do a... Yeah, I was wearing a Titan shirt. Let's do a test and see if he will speak to me. He would have won that test. I assume that. And you did not do it. Now, another thing that's been interesting to watch, Mario has a crush on Kay Adams. Mario thinks Kay Adams is...
Starting point is 00:48:06 That was not a denial with those eyes back there. Mario has... For people who don't know, K. Adams is a TV host. She's really beautiful. And Mario has a thing for it. He talks about her a lot. It's Mario and Brani. It's Kay Adams and Brony.
Starting point is 00:48:22 Those are the two people. I think Mario... Mario would leave us to date, K. Adams and to date, Brony. And she was there. Like, why? one of the first people we saw when we walked right away and you know sometimes you meet people and they're not like as attractive as they are in television because television can make you look good right um but kay adams i will say objectively is as beautiful in person maybe more so and like
Starting point is 00:48:50 see i'd never spoken to her but seems like she would be nice you know seems like she'd be the kind of person that's nice i saw mario when he first saw kay adams and uh he was like a little boy. He was. He was like a little boy that had gotten his first, like, first magazine. It was like if a catalog had come in the mail for Victoria's Secret. He doesn't know what a catalog is. That's true.
Starting point is 00:49:19 He doesn't know what a catalog is. But he had that. Oh, my. And he did a little Tony Dudgy tug on my jacket. It was like, Kay Adams, Kay Adams. It's a big star. So we all have our people that get us excited. I now know Mario's kryptonite, K. Adams.
Starting point is 00:49:40 Yeah. C.D. Lamb was at the desk. I took a picture of him with Kay Adams. And a lot of people in my mentions thought CD was Mario in the picture. They do have the same. I had several people say that. They do have the same hair. So maybe Mario can get in that chair today.
Starting point is 00:49:53 Here on day two, we need to try to get Mario a picture with Kay Adams. Look at him. He's shaking his head. He's not even denied. I wait for you, Mario. She used to be on the Good Morning Football that I watched. I've watched her for years. We'll make it innocent TV talk.
Starting point is 00:50:09 By the way, this is my friend Mario, definitely single. So you can use that. Also, you know, she co-hosts in the morning sometimes with DeMarcus cousins. That's right. So we know DeMarcus. So we could drop the, the, to Marcus angle as well. And then we'll just step out of the way and...
Starting point is 00:50:27 And then we'll let magic happen. Although I think she's a little... She's a lot older than you are, though, right? You can... That's okay. You got the game to make it happen. You know, when we walked by her set yesterday, I heard him lean over to Billy. He was like, hey, man, tell me about these digital business carts. I got it.
Starting point is 00:50:43 I've been putting myself out there, and it's time for Mario to get out there. Yeah. You've been putting yourself out there, have you? I just noticed Mario's chain he's got on is... Is that a chain wallet with pearls? We can't match his style. We can't match his style. We're always competing for second with Mario.
Starting point is 00:51:01 So, well, a very fun first day. They say today is the best day, because tomorrow some of the people are leaving. So they say today is the best day. So, I mean, we don't do our stuff to later this afternoon. But I may go down there just to feel the vibe. Yeah, just to feel the vibe, because I'm kind of in a... Look, Vi.
Starting point is 00:51:22 We got to get ready for our stuff. Christian Watson interview too. That's exactly right. Now, we're going to take a break. 859-280, 2287. Billy's going to the bathroom to get on the phone. That's never a good sign. This is KSR. Another podcast from some SNL late-night comedy guy, not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends.
