Starting point is 00:03:44 Jules Kamara was a highly ranked guy. Yeah. Then as it got on, so he had a class that was just Jared Carter, Adam Williams, and Rakalen Sims. So back-to-back years. That's bad. That's not a good class.
Starting point is 00:03:58 They put all their eggs in the Tyler Hansborough basket, and then the next year they put all their eggs in the Brandon Wright basket. I bet it made her granddaughters want to go get one of those scintillizing cinnamon rolls right out of the oven. Sintillating. Yeah, that too. Sintillizing is not a word.

Starting point is 00:05:10 The text machine is 772-774-5-2-5-24. It's Ask Anything Wednesday. A couple quick things before we go to the phones. The game last night with Kansas, Fogg Allen looked amazing, Drew. I mean, the place was wild. Couple things. That's the best environment in college basketball, right?
Starting point is 00:05:38 I don't want to say it, but I think it's true. I've now been there three times. All three were probably the best atmospheres I've seen. I agree with you. So that's unfortunate. Not much we can do about that. It's part of, you know, they put all those students there. We're never going to change.
Starting point is 00:05:55 UK's never going to change. We can complain about it all we want. want. They're just not going to do it. Their little chant, even if you hate it when you're in there and they do it, it's one of the cooler things in college basketball. That's the best environment. What do you make of the fact that their best player said, I have the flu, after he went through warm-ups, and then said, I have the flu, I can't play. And this is two weeks removed from halftime of, was it BYU, where the AD goes and talks to him on the bench and kind of has to convince him to play.
Starting point is 00:06:26 He, listen, he is a superstar. But they went and won without him. And that's two games in a rough. That's two games this year where he is begged out. And I'm not saying he doesn't have the flu. But he's had a constant issue. There are rumors out the wazoo about him. There was that video where someone's typing a text.
Starting point is 00:06:46 Did you see that? Is that real that video? Yeah. The Kansas SID came out and said something. They were like, that person does not work for us. Okay. So there's a video out there. where a guy's typing a text where he goes, Darren Peterson told the team blah, blah, blah,
Starting point is 00:07:01 and then Self said something back to him and he goes, Blanket, I'm not playing then. That guy's sitting on the stats row with a Kansas thing on. See, he's a superstar, so you're in that situation where, like, he's kind of got you at your mercy. But then they won without him. Right.
Starting point is 00:07:19 And Bill Self said it was the best home win of his career because they won without him. beating a great team without him. So, I mean, you're not going to tell him no, don't come back. But he does seem like a little bit of a difficult thing. My main takeaway is I'm glad it's at Kansas and not here because we've already had Shaden and a couple others that's been a little questionable. This one seems over the top.
Starting point is 00:07:43 Like, you don't know till tip off if he's going to play or not. It's kind of like what mood is Darren in today? I hope he plays. And for Kansas and a roster like that, their goals win a title. I don't know if you, even though they have, won that game last night. You can't just keep having the, how you feel on today? You're going to give us any minutes? That can't work. And hopefully the sport can clean this up. And this doesn't become consistent with top guys. Well, but I mean, you're not going to be able to stop it.
Starting point is 00:08:06 They're going to have to do whatever they're going to do what they do. You just have to be careful who you recruit. Because, like, you're not, there's nothing the NCAA can do to legislate that. So Arizona lose. So we have one undefeated team left and it's Miami of Ohio. All right, Shannon. Miami of Ohio is actually. 84th in the Kimpom. If they were to, let's say their record wasn't 24 and 0. If they were 84th in the Kimpom, they would not get an at-large bid to the tournament. There's a world where they go undefeated, go into the Mac tournament, and lose.
Starting point is 00:08:46 And their Ken Palm and their RPI will be so low that they actually wouldn't make the tournament. But the NCAA could still let them in. but on objective resume, if you took away their record, they probably wouldn't make the tournament. So here's my question for you. If their Ken Palm is not good enough to make it, but they went undefeated in the regular season, but intentionally did not schedule any good team in the non-conference,
Starting point is 00:09:18 they didn't play one good team. Would you let them in at 31 and 0 and give them incentive to play a bad schedule, but also note that they went undefeated. No, no. You're judging every team exactly the same. If you're using the Ken Palm to decide if a team should be in the tournament, and I don't care what your record is,
Starting point is 00:09:42 if those are the criteria that you're using, then everybody's got to play by the same rules. So you keep them out. I would keep them out if it doesn't line up with the rest of the teams that you're letting in. Would you keep them out? Yep. at undefeated. Fun story. I don't think they've played a team in the top 85. They have not played. They played no power conference teams. And they've,
Starting point is 00:10:01 the best team they played in their non-conference was ranked 146th. Yeah. So, I mean, it's cool you're winning. It's fun to follow. But like, we can't give incentive for teams to just go out and schedule everyone outside the top 100 and hope they run the table. Rules are rules. And if your resume isn't good and you don't win your conference tournament, enjoy your undefeated regular season. But that doesn't mean you get an invite. All right. Your five-minute punishment's over. go ahead. I think I would let them in. Even if they go undefeated
Starting point is 00:10:27 and then lose in the conference tournament, I think you still let that team in because you still had to go undefeated in your conference play, which is tough to go on the road and win these conference games. But do you want to make the rule that if you go undefeating in the regular season, you're guaranteed to be in the tournament? I think in this situation you do. And they wouldn't have gone undefeating their conference if they don't win the
Starting point is 00:10:47 conference tournament. They would have lost in the conference. I thought they had the conference regular season, you go undefeated. I think that still says something. I'm going to predict that's what's going to happen. I can see that happening. I'm going to predict they're going to go undefeated and they're going to lose in the conference tournament. And there's going to be a great debate as to whether or not you let them in. And everybody's going to have Shannon's strong, passionate sides. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:11:10 Is it cool that they're the last undefeated team, even though they haven't played anybody? But if you're not playing anybody, what does that even mean? Like if Kentucky just played Trinity Christian, who they beat 129 to 49 earlier, this year. Miami, Ohio I'm talking about. If Kentucky just played teams like that, then what would it mean? We would be undefeated with their schedule, too. Actually, I think you could make an argument that maybe outside of South Carolina,
Starting point is 00:11:35 every single team in the SEC would be undefeated with that schedule. Probably so. I pulled it up. They beat a team called Mercyhurst by five. Don't know what that means. Another team called Milligan. 135 to 81. Indiana East? Indiana East. Trinity Christian.
Starting point is 00:11:50 There's an Indiana East? Yeah. Where's that? I don't know. Indiana, South East. Indiana. Indiana East. Yeah. So these are some of the teams. It would be interesting. Three overtime games. This is something to watch. Because I'm going to bet. That's my prediction.
Starting point is 00:12:03 I don't know if you can bet this on Draft King. It's a good prediction. But my prediction is they go undefeated and then they lose in the conference tournament. And then what happens? You could put them right there in Dayton in the playing game and be one of the best environments of the... But right now on the field of 68 Bracketology, they have us playing them in the first round of the NCAA. Miami of Ohio? Bring it on.
Starting point is 00:12:25 I want them to come in. Us as a six, them as an 11. That's one of those that's, we think about Kentucky getting hosed with their seating. That's one that would screw the other team. Oh, it's like Wichita State. Wichita is a classic example. Miami of Ohio is undefeated and then they draw us in the first round. In the first round of the tournament.
Starting point is 00:12:42 Preseason top 10 team. Yeah, that would be, that'd be tough. Nick, go ahead, Nick. Hi, I wanted a chance of subject and ask anything. Did you all know we're going to the moon in a couple weeks? That's ascending four people around the moon? I saw that. So we're going back to the moon.
Starting point is 00:12:58 We haven't gone to the moon in a long time. And now we're going back. I'm for it. I don't know why we stopped going to the moon. Someone's saying we never went to begin with. Well, those people are stupid. We went to the moon. Don't call Jared stupid.
Starting point is 00:13:10 Rest and peace. Well, I love you, Jared. On that point, that was dumb. We're going to the moon. I think we should. I don't know why we stopped going the moon. like the moon, we should, it feels like we should be way far more into the moon. I saw Elon say that we can live on the moon in five years. Slow down, dude. You told me I was
Starting point is 00:13:29 living on Mars three years ago. He just moved it from Mars to the moon is going to be the first scene. I like how he just changes it. You know, we're going on Mars. No, we're moving to the moon now. But I feel like we shouldn't have stopped. Like, we were going so good with the moon. But there's nothing there. Well, that's why we go. We put stuff there. There was nothing in the in, you know. There's an American flag there. I think it fell down Did it fall down? Oh, you've seen it lately?
Starting point is 00:13:55 I mean, what flag is going to stay in the ground for 60 years? I don't know. Dig a hole. I'm just saying, like, there was nothing anywhere until you went. So I guess people would say, why spend billions of dollars to go up there for really for nothing? There was some, we're going to start the beginnings. There was some famous person that said once, why do we do this? And they said, because it's there.
Starting point is 00:14:17 And I like that. Why do you do anything? Why do you Why do you plant a garden? Because Grow vegetables to eat? Yeah, but most people don't Like, why do you plant a flower garden?
Starting point is 00:14:30 Because you can get to look at it. Some beauty. Look at it. So why do we go to the moon? Because it's there. If we didn't have exploration, we wouldn't be sitting here right now. That's exactly right. Why do you do anything?
Starting point is 00:14:39 Like, we could all just be hunter-gatherers in a cave hitting each other in the head with a stick. We decide to do things because that's what humans do. The question is, what are we building there first? Walmart. Casino. on the pace we're on probably a casino probably a vape shop probably dollar general storage units if it's like eastern kentucky all right so let's say let's say eastern kentucky gets the moon first
Starting point is 00:14:59 mexican restaurant oh yeah mexican restaurant easily walmart lots of vap shops lots of vapes that's not you see that's everywhere they're all over sanfaxal warehouse uh multiple fast foods all the subways that are going to close soon we'll just move them to the moon and i don't know what happens in these little small towns in eastern Kentucky, but every kind of shop closes except auto shops. Auto parts stores are everywhere. You can't get rid of auto parts stores. So that's why we're going to the moon.
Starting point is 00:15:31 We're going to put our culture over there. We'll see. I think it's exciting we're going to the moon. We should. I think it's a waste of money. And I'm going to see the benefit of it. Yes, you are. When this planet burns up, your grandchildren will be living on the moon.
Starting point is 00:15:48 We ain't going to burn up. Yeah. We America. We America. There you go. That's why we're going to the moon. That's why we're going to burn up. And that's why we're going to the moon.
Starting point is 00:15:59 We America. That's right. The truth. Go ahead, truth. Hey, man, I got a question to ask you about the rainbow. What rainbow? I'm talking about every time it rains, it's a rainbow come out.
Starting point is 00:16:15 Yeah. Okay. I just wanted to, you know, I hear you talk about AI. Matt, you know, I want to break something down to you know that rainbow. People don't understand these colors in it. But I want to say that what you're talking about, you right on time, because a rainbow in God asks, it's a covenant. It needs judgment. And then not only that, you're kicking knowledge.
Starting point is 00:16:40 I have changed your name to Matt the ambassador because, you know, Dania talks about the knowledge. coming the whole world. And then another, I'm going to leave you with this. There's two spirit in the world. The spirit of truth and the spirit of error. And AI is the spirit of not telling the truth in error. And the spirit of truth is people like me and you who pin on the wisdom of God. And that's why we got people trying to be robots.
Starting point is 00:17:14 And God didn't create us to be robots. but God creates the lean to not to our understanding, lean to his understanding. So, man, I appreciate you. Well, thank you, truth. Starting point is 00:22:54 See, that's a great attitude. I miss when politicians had those like inspiring quotes. Like, what's the last time a politician in America had an inspiring quote? Make America great again. That's not a quote, though. That's a slow one. That's not an inspiring quote.
Starting point is 00:23:09 I mean it. Like, when's the last time? Like, you know how they'll be booked, of like motivational quotes. Yeah. What's the last time American politician had a motivational or like some kind of quote,
Starting point is 00:23:23 you know, maybe, you remember Obama made that speech like it's no red state America, there's no blue state America, there's only the United States of America. But even that's not really a motivational quote or some kind of, like I don't know. It feels like they used to, it feels like you used to hear.
Starting point is 00:23:39 Ask not what your country can do for you. Ask what you can do for your country. country. The first one that came to mind for me. That's J. F.K.2. He's had two. Didn't George W. say something before he threw out the first pitch after 9-11?
Starting point is 00:23:51 Then he said something. Watch this pitch. Watch this drive. I don't know. He said something either right before he threw it out or. He did have a big quote. I think that quote when he was standing on the rubble is a great quote where he's like, I hear you and soon the people that did this will hear from all of us or something.
Starting point is 00:24:12 That was, I remember, that was a fight. Like, he had a way of, yeah. He was good in like that, that moment. He also, what was it? Fool me once, can't be fooled again? Fool me once. Shame on you. Shame on you.
Starting point is 00:24:29 Fool me twice, can't be fooled again. I love that one. That was a good one too. I don't know if it was motivational. Yeah, but we just didn't feel like people do that. One person writes, Matt, one person, why does Rice play Texas? Not because it's easy,
Starting point is 00:24:45 but because they're there. Exactly. Ryan doesn't understand what that means. Why do these bad teams play good teams? The real answer is for money. Yes. Help fund their athletic budget. That's also why we're going to the moon.
Starting point is 00:24:59 But the second, yeah, that's probably why we're going to the moon as well. See, Miami of Ohio doesn't live by this rule. They're like, let's just stay here and live our comfortable lives. So if it was Miami of Ohio's world, they wouldn't go to the moon. But they're still going on the road in their conference right now and some tough environments. Yeah, to Toledo. Yeah, they're going to Toledo and Akron. Yeah, we saw those environments.
Starting point is 00:25:18 It's a tough place to play. Did you know UMass is in the Mac? Only because I just looked up the schedule. I had no idea. UMass was in the Mac. Why did they leave the Atlantic 10 and go to the Mac? Isn't that a step down? I don't know.
Starting point is 00:25:30 But UMass is in the Mac now. I had no idea. Tuesday Macion with UMass. What do you think about Shannon Jordan Hudson wearing that T-shirt? Oh, the massage parlor T-tree shirt? So Jordan Hudson went to the UNC Duke basketball game wearing a t-shirt advertising the massage parlor that Robert Kraft went to in Florida. Great troll move.
Starting point is 00:25:54 Love every bit of it. That's got to be one of the biggest troll moves of all time, right? Where do you find that shirt? I guess they have emerged there. I flipped on her. That was a little weird before. I thought she was maybe inserting herself a little too much in North Carolina football. That t-shirt is perfection.
Starting point is 00:26:10 I'll remind you I was a fan for moment one. I thought people were being too mean to her. The fact that she stands up for her man like that is a little... Most of the people who hate on me for being a Democrat, they don't listen to this show. Right. They're online. That's exactly right.

Starting point is 00:31:58 Reagan did have the one about the shining light on the hill quote also. what I was going to ask about the I live in Hickory North Carolina and listen to a lot of the Charlotte radio stuff and you all won the Barrett Award you know number one ranking show and their show in Charlotte was that actually finished 11th is from 12 to 3 and obviously you know you guys are from 9 to 12 or 10 to 12 um how is was it determined, just curious, how they are slotted for these type of rewards? You mean for who gets the shows? No, no, for who, how they are, how they win the awards because the show that came in 11.
Starting point is 00:32:53 Yeah. They do six to 10 is one, 10 to three is another, and then three to seven is another. So we technically, most radio shows are 10 to 12. and 12 to 3. So we're technically competing against two groups of shows, which is why that's always the category with the most shows. Because it's two different ones. Okay.
Starting point is 00:33:17 That clears it up because with two different time slots, I didn't know if that would make a difference. They call all that midday. So I appreciate the call. The quote was, yeah. Oh, go ahead. You can read. Oh, I'll read it.

Starting point is 00:34:43 Do you think that's because specifically of Florida, like the matchup with Florida? I do. I think those three big guys are monsters. Yeah, they do have great bigs. And I think the Peterson kid in Kansas should be investigated. He's betting on basketball. There's no other reason for his behavior. Okay.
Starting point is 00:35:01 And the last thing, this is just kind of probably an unpopular opinion. I think Lindsey Vaughn is selfish and an attention hound. She should have never competed. She took a spot from somebody who was healthy. I'll hang out. But the thing about Lindsey Vaughn, though, she came in third in the practice run. So clearly she was a contender. She came in third even with the torn ACL.
Starting point is 00:35:24 See, that's kind of with this guy until she did that. I thought, why is she taking a roster spot from somebody, you know, if she's hurt, but then she went out and did well in the practice run. It was third. Yeah. By the way, they had that again last night. They had like the downhill. Watch it again.
Starting point is 00:35:37 I'm mesmerized by the downhill. I watch Love too. I also watched on Peacock. Again, you can see this. They had something, this was a couple days ago, but you should look it up. If you want to see athleticism that makes you go, oh my, they had the skiathlon. Okay. And these dudes are skiing around the course.
Starting point is 00:35:56 Some of it's flat, some of it's uphill, some of it's downhill. and they say this dude that's the cross-country skier now from Norway. He's like the best one in history. And the announcers, the top five were close for a long time. And the announcers were like, this is not where the Bjorn, everybody needs to pass Bjorn. As soon as they get into the home stretch, they're going to wish they had.
Starting point is 00:36:20 And I was like, yeah, but it's close. Come on, guys. And then they hit the home stretch. And this dude, Bjorn, I honestly thought he was a machine. Yeah. He started moving. I didn't know hands could move. that fast. And he left the others in the dust. And at the end, Shannon, he crossed the finish line
Starting point is 00:36:35 backwards talking to the crowd. He had such a big moment. Oh, my goodness. A little trash talk. Wow. Like you can just turn around backwards. He turned around backwards and was talking to the crowd. I love it. I love that. I love watching the downhill skiing last night and they would show like the tracers of their last route and how they would just slightly change how they cut a corner and cut off a second. They go so fast. That would scare me to death. I swear I couldn't quit thinking about how they would just disappear forever if they got off the course of a little bit. They're going so fast. You were mentioning the injury thing.
Starting point is 00:37:10 Canada has a player who made the Canadian hockey team who is like 37 and they picked him. And he decided a week ago he was like, you know what? I'm just not as good as I used to be. And we need to beat America. So pick Seth Jarvis instead of me. and he had someone else go. So he stepped down. He stepped down.
Starting point is 00:37:32 He wasn't hurt. He said he wanted to play, but he was like, I'm just not good enough anymore. He's better. Wow. Now, that takes some humility, right? Great patriotism, too, for Canada. How about that?

What NASA astronaut said that we've never put someone on the moon?

Well, he would answer. No NASA astronaut has ever claimed that humans did not land on the moon. That's what I thought.

Somebody would come up to him and, like, try to question whether he was the other on the moonlight and he just punched him right in a face. That can't be true. He was a senator. You're saying the senator just walked around and punched people in the face? I thought he got punched. He punched somebody.
Starting point is 00:40:12 He attacked somebody. So you're saying John Glenn, the senator, would walk around punching people. I think this after his political career was over. He's a little older. He had to be in his 80. He's still a fisty son of a gun. You're saying there was an 80-year-old man out there punching people. Yep.
Starting point is 00:40:24 I'm not sure that I believe that either. I think you're thinking of Buzz Aldrin punched a heckler. I think John Glenn got punched. Buzz Aldrin will punch if you doubt he'd be going on the moon. There were claims that he was the guy that said they didn't go there, but it was taken out of context, it says. So now we're saying it's not John Glenn. Buzz Aldrin. Buzz punched around.
Starting point is 00:40:51 Buzz punched a conspiracy theory. He punched one. But I think John Glenn got punched. He punched anyone. He'll punch you if you come up and question him, Buzz Aldrin. That's what I mean it all along. It's a pretty good old man punch. There's video of it.

Starting point is 00:45:10 One of my favorites, actually, Shannon. When I do top list, I always forget to put it on, but I should. I loved it. I put this one on a couple of weeks ago. It's a great movie. Andy Kaufman was to me brilliant. One of the sweetest things Larry ever did. I've said this before.
Starting point is 00:45:29 He knew I liked Andy Kaufman and like CNN or whatever did a, did like a special on him. And Larry, when I was at college, saw it was coming on and took a VCR tape and put it on and recorded it for me. Of course. And mailed it to trance. He did. Oh, that was so nice. Very nice. Because he doesn't like Andy Kaufman.
Starting point is 00:45:51 But he in that moment was like, I bet Matthew, that's what Matthew would like this. Yeah. That was very nice. I went through an obsessive Andy Kaufman face. And I still say that documentary, Shannon, with Jim Carrey about this, what's it called, Jim and Andy or whatever. It's one of the best documentaries. I don't know if that's still on Netflix or not,
Starting point is 00:46:11 but we were talking about that a few weeks ago. That scene where Jim Carrey acting as Andy Kaufman meets Andy Kaufman's family. That doesn't pull it your heartstrings, nothing does. Kyle Tucker is returning to cover college basketball. In his announcement, he says, this may be the best college basketball season I've ever seen. It may be. All the good games are just awesome.
Starting point is 00:46:33 Yeah. There are 15 or 20 good teams. Best freshman class. Ever. Maybe ever. It's incredible. Tons of juniors and seniors playing. Most of the power teams are at least good.
Starting point is 00:46:48 And there's new teams. I keep saying this about people who say college sports are ruined. I understand why people get frustrated with all the stuff that happens off the court and before the season. But when the games start, it's great. So if you don't like that stuff, just ignore it and just start tuning in for the games. But are you telling me these games aren't great? College football game, I mean, Indiana, what an amazing story that was. I think college sports, I have the controversial view.
Starting point is 00:47:20 They're better now than they've ever been. you might want to I enjoy the chaos maybe you don't so ignore it but when the game start Drew they're awesome the standard of play is so much higher in college basketball than it was 10 years ago and this year especially in college basketball there are so many stars we're usually lucky to have two or three guys that are you know top of the top of the top this year they seem to be you know especially the freshmen we've got close to 10 elite freshmen scattered across the country that are fun to watch every night. McCle Brown went for 45 last night.
Starting point is 00:47:54 Yeah. McCrell Brown broke or tied the U of L scoring record last night. I hate that it's UVL. Uval scored what? 118 points last night? Yeah. He had 45, hit 10 threes. So I think...
Starting point is 00:48:08 You got like 10 teams with two losses, maybe a few fewer than that, like 7 or 8 with two losses, all up there in contention? It's going to be wide open. Yes, it is. Wide open. It's going to be fun. I hope we're in it. I mean, we're in the, I think we'll be in the tournament.
Starting point is 00:48:21 I hope we're making some sort of a run. Matt, go ahead, Matt. So two quick things for all the crazy moon landing deniers out there. One solid fact is that America's biggest geopolitical adversaries, including Russia and China, both agree that American boots were on the moon. They photographed the sites. Why would our biggest enemies, when they have ever, when they have, everything to gain from denying it, even agree with us that they've landed on the moon.
Starting point is 00:48:55 Second, just a mind-blowing fact, was that the phone in your pocket had more computing power than the lunar module that put American boots on the ground. Now, that is what's impressive to me. That is the thing, and I appreciate the call. That's the thing that always blows my mind about going to the moon, is that we did it back then, right? Right. not near the tech not even close to the technology that movie for all mankind or excuse me the tv show on apple highly recommend it's about us trying to go to the moon wow and the idea that like they did all that you know on i mean remember your first commodore 64 or whatever that you got on
Starting point is 00:49:39 they didn't even have that right and then they went to the moon and comparing the phone that modeled it's not even close. This is like hundreds of thousand times faster and smarter than what they had back then. Which is why Shannon, we should have kept going. Why did we stop? Yeah. Just start building villages there. Yeah. Or just, I mean, it's got to be more we could learn. I still say we need to fix our own problems before we get too far into the moon. We got a lot going on here. We have some of our problems might be fixed by going to the moon. There you go. You just leave all the problems behind. That's exactly right. I think there are songs that say that. Leave your troubles behind.
Starting point is 00:50:15 Go to the moon. Go to the moon. That's their ad right there. Yeah. I'm for, I'm for moon money as long, as long as it's not too much wasted. One person writes, Matt, the farthest any human has ever been is about 800 miles above space. And you're saying we went 240,000 miles to the moon. I'm saying it, yes.
