He goes, hey, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her.
What?
Time out.
Quarterback on office blue 42.
A rep, my mama want you to wave at her.
What?
Where's he at?

You know, it's all love.
This was just playoffs.
This was just basketball.

One of the biggest misconceptions about buying a home right now is that you have to wait for the perfect moment.
Perfect rates, perfect timing, perfect market.
The truth is, that moment doesn't really exist.
A lot of buyers pause because of headlines or assumptions.
But every situation is different.
Race change.
Market shift.
And personal goals matter just as much as what's happening nationally.

Welcome to Hour 2 of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage.
Now here's Matt Jones.
Welcome back. Hour number two, Kentucky Sports Radio.
859-280-2287.
One person writes, on the text machine, Matt, you're on the best home whistle.
is not Kansas on Monday night. It's Clay County on Friday night. You never get a call in that building.
Fair. Fair argument, I think. You can see that. Clay County on Friday night, probably is a good one.
One verse, another one writes, Matt, you missed a good Ryanism. He said, people are human sometimes.
What about the rest of the time? You're an alien.
That's true. Drew, that is a riotism. People are human sometimes. People are human sometimes.
Put on a shirt. Put on a t-shirt.
Beautiful.
It's a good sentiment.
People are human.
Sometimes.
Sometimes.
Apparently the guy that said that Tyron Stokes might be leaning back to Kentucky, he
denies he said that.
He said that was not what the article said.
So there you go.
That's over.
There was a time I think Kentucky was leading, I think, for him.
I think he really wanted to come to Kentucky.
Without question.
I think that was true.
And then, I mean, him kind of flipping is what led to the whole conversation.
about recruiting and JMI and Pope and all that.
And that'll come back up whenever he makes his decision,
and we'll see what that is.
All right, a couple stats.
This comes from worldwide Todd Harris.
These are interesting stats.
Kentucky last year led the SEC and stolen bases with 133 for the year.
They had 233 in their first three games.
If they were to keep on this pace, Shannon, they would steal 437 bases.
Oh, my goodness.
Which would be 300 more stolen bases.
than what they did last year when they led the leak.
Let's go.
I think we should run.
I do it.
Well, Ryan's been saying that for a long time.
I've been beating that drum for years.
That's right.
I've even seen the picture online.
Somebody here put a picture of Ryan beating a drum saying still more bases.
Drew, to the game you mentioned, 2016, that's the Ulys-Murray team.
We lost it out in Fieldhouse.
Kansas shot 47 free throws.
They had 31 free throws in the last nine and a half minutes of the three minutes of the
the second half plus overtime.
40 or, excuse me, 31.
We were called for 33 fouls.
Kansas would call for 20.
Kansas won, even though they only made four shots in the last 15 minutes of the game.
Yep.
Todd sent me that too.
I actually was at that game with Todd.
And I knew there had been something, but in the moment I couldn't place that.
But yeah, I remember it well now.
It was just foul after foul after foul, given Kansas points late in that game.
Yeah.
All right.
So now we got to talk about this.
As soon as I saw this, I knew Shannon would be like eager, and I want to give him his chance.
So, you know, I think I said to you once, if you wanted to convince me that aliens exist,
there would be like three or four people I would believe.
It would basically be presidents, not named Donald Trump.
Right?
If one of the Bushes or Obama, maybe in his prime, Joe Biden, I guess Reagan's dead.
So I couldn't.
well, older Bush is dead too, right?
So we're down to like, who are the living presidents right now?
Bush, Obama, Biden, Trump, Clinton?
Clinton.
And Clinton.
So I would do it because I feel like they would know.
And if they ever said it, I would at least give it credibility.
So Obama's on a podcast.
And this is what he said.
A couple questions here.
Are aliens real?
They're real, but I haven't seen them.
and they're not being kept in, what is it?
Area 51.
There's no underground facility unless there's this enormous conspiracy,
and they hit it from the president of the United States.
What was the first question you wanted answered when you became president?
Okay, so here's my thing, Shannon.
So stop right there.
He wants to know where the aliens are.
Here's my thing.
When he starts that sentence with their...
how does my man not follow up?
Yeah.
That interview.
Horrible interviews.
He didn't see them.
He moved on to the next topic.
He's like,
how's the show?
He moved to the next topic.
I mean, like, if you're at all a reporter,
when my man starts the sense with they're real,
but I haven't seen them,
aren't you going to ask,
what do you mean by they're real?
Right?
Like, aren't you going to ask that?
Yeah.
And how are you going to say the real and not explain?
Drew, he doesn't follow up.
What an opportunity.
How does he not follow up?
You have a president not denying aliens and you're like, oh, cool.
What's your favorite restaurant in Washington, D.C.?
He just completely moved on.
Not like, well, why do you think they're real?
That might be the worst interview I've ever heard.
You have the former president saying, yes, they're real and you don't follow up.
Now, the next day, so for 24 hours, I'm like, I'm going to have to go on the radio Tuesday and say aliens are real.
Yeah.
apologize to me and Drew.
I felt like I was going to have to apologize to Shannon.
But then at the All-Star game, he's there.
They ask him and he said, what I mean is,
I believe it sounded like what I've said on this show.
There's likely somewhere in the expanse life,
but nothing has ever come here
and we know of nothing that's come here,
which has always kind of been my position.
What do you laughing?
Sounds like somebody backtracking to me.
He said yes.
They go, oh, I wasn't supposed to say that.
Oh, yeah.
Yes, the real fun.
But then why would he say yes to begin with?
Because I think he was telling the truth for a second.
And they go, oh, but you think he's telling the truth because he's agreeing with you.
He's going, yeah, yeah, they're real.
I mean, I've never seen him, but yeah, they're real.
He's trying to cover his tracks, it sounds like to me.
See, but that's the thing you're going to believe whatever.
And so are you.
Okay, yeah, but I'm right.
And that's the difference.
We don't know who's right.
Well, his second position is the one I've always had, which is, you know, there's this mass of galaxies and universes.
I'm sure somewhere there is life.
So lead with that.
Don't come out.
Don't lead with, yes, they're real.
No, I agree.
Terrible answer.
Terrible answer by Obama.
But egregious rhyme.
You're a reporter at heart.
Agregious lack of a follow-up by whoever did that interview, right?
After Barack said that, everything else goes down the toilet.
You focus on that.
You just said, what?
What did you just say?
There's aliens?
What do you mean there's aliens?
That's where you got to go for.
I don't understand how you don't follow up.
Drew, I'm still mad at that guy.
Who did the interview?
Who was it?
They had to be big enough to get Obama to do an interview.
Yeah, I mean, that's a pretty big kid for a school project.
It is infuriating that you have a former president there, Shannon, and he says there are aliens.
And you're just like, so, man, what else is going on?
He goes on to like, what's the first question you want to answer?
And he doubled back with, where are the aliens?
And he didn't follow up again.
Another opportunity for you to stick on the alien subject and not move from that.
He had his questions on a piece of paper and he was following the questions in order right down his paper.
How did that guy get an interview?
Can you, whatever show he's on needs to end.
Cancel it.
Cancel it.
Yeah.
That's the worst interview that has ever existed.
And I was mad.
He admitted it.
He said, you got to press him to, like, what are you talking about?
What are you talking about?
Obama probably even thought, oh, here we go.
And then was ready.
And it was like, oh, I'm sorry, but he doesn't want to talk about that.
Thank you.
Maybe he felt like I was definitive.
He said, yes.
There's aliens.
That's it.
Shut up.
He clearly did not mean.
Oh, he didn't mean it when he said.
No, I will say this, though.
That is, for your side, that's one of the strongest pieces of evidence I've seen.
but I will but unfortunately you should be mad at that journalist than anybody because you had a chance to have a lot of checks on your side well he'll do another podcast why do that guy's podcast he can do your podcast why didn't come on interrupted that's what I want to know all right Robert Duval died Ryan yes Robert Duval one of the best actors of all time I mean his career
is amazing.
And what's interesting about his career is he really didn't get big
until he was like in his 40s.
You know, a lot of actors get started very young.
The Godfather, I believe, was one of his first big roles.
And then, you know, just think about all the things he's been in over the years.
When I put my post up about him, I was amazed at how many movies that, like, are secondary
to me that people loved, including a couple I had not even heard of.
But he was, everybody knows him for the Godfather.
That's kind of the thing.
But he was also in Apocalypse now.
Lonesome Dove.
Yeah, very good in Loansome Dove.
Days of Thunder, right, where he's the crew chief.
For me, his best movie, and I think one of the best underrated movies of all time is the movie the Apostle,
which I think is the only movie I have ever seen in my life that gets evangelical, like Southern Christian.
like Christianity right.
Okay?
I think it is amazing.
And his performance is a guy who's like kind of torn between good and bad and has both in him.
I think is unbelievable.
And it's, you know, people treat evangelical Southern Christians with such disdain in terms of how they're portrayed.
They always portray the negative.
That's a movie that I don't know, maybe because he was part of it because he wrote it and directed it.
he did such a good job and I highly recommend it.
It's one of my,
it's one of I think the best movies that I've ever seen.
And his performance is one of the best.
He was nominated for an Oscar for it.
But he's in all these things.
I mean, do you all have other ones besides the ones I just mentioned?
He's in the natural.
He's like,
he steals the whole film in the natural.
He's like a reporter following Robert Redford around.
He steals the film as a reporter?
That sounds like somebody who prefers journalism.
He thinks the reporter.
I felt like the natural's favorite
famous scene was when he knocked the lights out, right?
Yeah, that was the famous scene,
but as far as the acting goes,
Duval's the best one in there.
Okay. Anything else? Do you guys remember?
I think that...
I'm just going through his list here.
The apocalypse now comes to mind for me,
but he's also, it was a smaller role,
but I love the movie.
Thank you for smoking.
I don't even know that many people
like to thank you for smoking,
but he's in that.
Got a big old mustache.
He's in Slingblade?
Who is he in Sling?
Who is he in Slingblade?
This is Carl's dad.
I'm just going through his Wikipedia.
Is that right?
He's in Slingblade.
I didn't remember that.
Days of Thunder.
We mentioned that one, right?
A lot of people mention a movie that I've never heard of.
Like seven people mention secondhand lions.
Does anybody know that?
I'm familiar with it, but I haven't seen it.
I was surprised how many people put that down.
He's in Four Christmases?
Yeah.
Four Christmases.
Yeah.
You never seen that with Vince,
on?
I've seen it.
No, I have.
I wouldn't have thought.
Apparently, is he in kicking and screaming with Will Ferrell?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Crazy Heart with Jeff Bridges.
Now, Crazy Heart's another great movie.
Yeah, that is.
That's about like a down and out country singer.
And he won an Oscar for playing like a down and out country singer.
I think it's called like Tinder Mercies.
Is that on the list?
I think he, I think that's the only Oscar he ever won was for, I think it's called Tinder
mercies.
Is that on the list?
There's a lot on this list.
Gone in 60 seconds.
He's gone in 60 seconds?
Wow.
Well, anyway, what a career.
95 years old.
95.
Had a good run.
So rest in peace.
You know, they say things come in threes.
Jesse and Deval.
What's going to be the third?
You know, you got like, they say it's like in 72 hours, so it would be today.
Wasn't there another one that, wasn't there already a third or no?
there's another actor that died.
Well, Jesse Jackson died.
I know another actor that died.
Yeah, I can't remember.
Maybe.
All right, who's up next?
All right, let's go to Nick.
Nick, go ahead, Nick.
Oh, guys, you haven't seen secondhand lions?
No, what is it?
I've honestly never seen it.
What is it?
Because people keep saying it's great.
Yeah, it's got Josh Lucas.
I think it's the kid.
What's his name?
Hallie Osmond.
Yeah, Michael King.
It's great.
So it's just a film about a kid who goes to live on a farm with the main guy, these two old guys, Michael Cain and Duval.
And they're just too crotchy old war vets.
I like crotchy old man movies.
I think those are good.
All right, I'll check it out.
It's good because it's good.
It's good.
Yeah, it's 2003.
I'm 32.
I watched as a kid.
Really quick to the aliens, man.
I'm a little worried the aliens have kidnapped all our recruits.
because I'm a little bit.
So I'm just going to say one thing.
I don't know anything about the recruiting.
I know we got some Europe guys in the pipe maybe.
We have got to keep Jasper Johnson.
I don't know where we're at with this.
That kid has such a high upside.
He's a Lexington kid.
Like, BBN wants this kid here.
And I just, I don't know what's going on if he's going to stick around next year.
But we've got to make that a priority because I think he could be huge for us next year and year two.
If he puts some muscle on and keeps playing like he's playing offensively.
Got to figure out the defense, but let's keep that kid.
I appreciate the call.
I actually would like to have that conversation because I think Ryan, this needs to be,
we give Ryan a hard time, but Ryan sometimes has pulpit stances, Drew, where he feels passionate.
I think Ryan's pretty passionate about Jasper Johnson.
Am I right about that, Ryan?
I'm trying to look in his eyes and see if there's anything there.
Are you passionate about Jasper Johnson?
Do you want to make that a pulpit stance like you did stolen bases that really changed the face of UK baseball?
I don't know if we're ready for it now, but it's a conversation we definitely need to have because that caller is exactly right.
You can't have it right now, but after the break, after I do this Clark's Pumpin Shopperid?
Whatever you want, sir.
All right.
I need the passion from you because I know you feel strongly about this.
I do feel strongly about this.
I'm afraid I'll say that I'm not supposed to.
Oh, well, that's even better.
When he feels like he's so passionate, he says something.
Well, actually, we'll see.
You think about it during the break.
Okay.
You need a couple minutes to warm your brain up.
Okay, gotcha.
Clark's Pubit Shop is your place for everyday stops and making them matter.
They make gas easier and cheaper with the Clark's reward app.
Download the app, earn points every time you shop,

Kentucky's communities, local schools, and the blue and white.
When you shop at Clark's, you're supporting people who care about the bluegrass.
It's Clark's Pump and Shop.
Return, refresh, refuel at Clark's Pumpin Shop.
We'll take a break and let Ryan have his pedestal next.

You might know me as that loud guy who yells out, help on the internet.

I'm an actor.
I'm a comedian, and recently I've become quite the helper myself.

Welcome back.
It is the, well, it's KSR.
I keep wanting to say it's the post game show
because people keep writing about the post game show.
Boo Radley.
He also played Boo Radley in To Kill a Mockingbird.
Did you?
Yeah, yoga girl sent me about three texts in a row.
You guys have not mentioned to kill a mockingbird.
Yeah, it was, that's a great film.
So I don't know how I forgot that.
Okay.
One person writes, Matt, I'm having Clark's Pump and Shop chicken right now.
If you don't know, they have the best chicken around.
That's good.
That's fact.
I can support that claim.
You can?
Good breakfast, too.
Good breakfast sandwiches.
Yeah.
By the way, tonight, the pregame show starts at 630, live at KS Bar.
Come on out and see the show and enjoy the wings, the burgers, and just overall.
We've had great experiences and vibes at the bar for these games lately in the pregames.
We can feel the energy, Ryan, about how the team's doing by the bar,
both during the games and pregames, and I think it'll be great tonight as well.
Pre-game show starts at 630 for the 9 o'clock 10.
And Darius Miller, Darius Miller is joining us tonight.
Darius Miller is joining us tonight.
So if you ever wanted to meet Darius Miller, this is a good day.
He will be co-hosting the pregame show tonight.
So that should be great.
Okay.
You said, the guy asked about Jasper Johnson.
Made a couple of throes against Florida.
You, I think, are very passionate on the topic about whether or not Jasper's future at Kentucky.
I think it's safe to say things have not gone the way the Johnson family thought it would for Jasper this year.
And I think there's been some frustration, but I'll give Jasper credit, he's not shown one sense of frustration.
When he gets his number called, he goes out there, bust his ass, he's diving on the floor.
His assist per minute played is off the chart.
Like you said, hit a couple big shots.
But, you know, it took a last second, Hell Mary last time from a booster to get him to come here last year.
There's going to be teams coming after that kid.
That kid, I agree with the caller said, could be a superstar in the making, and Kentucky should do everything they can to keep him.
Do you want to expand on the
It took a last second thing from a booster
I mean he committed very early to Kentucky
Yeah other teams were still recruiting him
And I won't
I don't think I need to go into it
But I think it is that's a good best way to put
To the last second helmet from a booster
I think you need to go way more into it
No
Come on scoop
I mean I hear Mario laughing in the background
He wants you
Well sco
Play that one more time
Because that gets his blood go
Yeah it does here we go
Scoo Scoo
Okay, there you go.
You've been hesitant with scoop since you got burned by Lamar Wilkerson, but it's been almost a full year.
Well, there's no scoop at this moment.
I kind of said, you know, just kind of the facts I know it.
There's just things that don't need to go on the airways right now, I think.
So we'll just put it in our back pocket.
Why are you under the table right now?
Get out from underneath there.
Man, I tell you what, it's going to get a nasty weather system moving in on Thursday.
Did you see that?
Ryan Hall y'all's
Gordy calling it on Thursday.
What's going on?
You know, this may be like
with Obama and the aliens.
I tried to follow up.
Yeah, he's scared.
I think he let something slip
and now he doesn't want to
all right.
Whatever you want.
So do you think he
do you think that
the UK will do what is necessary
to get him back?
You definitely want him back, right?
I think Kentucky wants him back,
but they've not shown
they'll go all out to get anybody it seems like you know they don't want to feel like they
have to get out outbid somebody to get a player they want a player to be it because they want to be here
well that's not the world we live in anymore i feel like yeah well we do we have outbid for some
people but you know the guys on field of 68 their thing was they bid too high for some people and
too low for others they don't understand the market and we still haven't hired a GM and you know
I mean, this is the time, like, March, April and May is when your GM would go to work.
So if they don't hire them by now, you got to think, I mean, it doesn't do any good to hire them in June, right?
Yeah, there's enough out there that we already know.
We know we overpaid for Aberdeen.
I mean, it's all been satisfied from all parties involved.
And even though he's played better recently, it's just a fact.
Yeah, yeah, that's the fact that we overpaid what his market value was.
I'm not saying to dislike the guy or whatever, but that happened.
And we also paid a lot of money for a guy who's going to leave here,
having played like 24 total minutes.
So it's not a big secret that the money management in the roster building wasn't the best.
On Jasper Johnson, I'm kind of conflicting.
I love Jasper.
I don't know Dennis well, but any time I see him say hi, nice guy.
But I would completely understand.
I mean, he was probably not going to come here until an offer came in to help out.
And I don't know what Mark Pope told the family, but I can promise you it was better than one SEC game and double figures or whatever he has here.
that's a kid that was pretty highly ranked, thought he'd have the ball more than he would.
So whatever Pope told them, I don't need to talk to Dennis to know that it's not lining up
because we have not seen half of what we thought we'd get out of Jasper.
And it's not just him not stepping up.
I think the opportunities haven't even been there as much they should too.
He could be better.
But whatever Pope told him, I don't think he lived up to his end either.
Yeah, but I don't think you can go promising people playing them.
I think you've got to play the guys.
But if you promised him that to get him here and then didn't do it,
I would not be shocked if he went somewhere else.
And if he did that, I would say, if he did that, I would say Pope shouldn't be doing it.
I mean, I don't know if he did it or not.
But, like, you can't be, that's one, you know, Cal was great about that.
You don't promise people playing time.
Although, Cal says he didn't promise people playing time.
There's no reason why we would have played some of those guys, the Reed Robbier, unless he would run.
Yeah, no doubt.
I think that the rise of Aberdeen has kind of hurt Jasper's minutes also, you know.
Without question.
Aberdeen's been good.
Listen, this is Kentucky.
It's not for funzies.
You got to play the best dudes.
And if guys end up sitting the bench, then that's the way it goes.
And I'm very firm in that belief.
But at the same time, you got to make sure you have dudes.
Although there was a coach that said you got to have dudes.
And now he doesn't have dudes because he gets fired.
He doesn't even have a job to have dudes.
He doesn't have a job.
He doesn't have dudes.
He doesn't have anything.
He's about to have a lawsuit.
So that's a different conversation.
All right, 859-2-80.
James Vanderbeak also died, Shannon.
So maybe that's the third.
Yeah, that's the guy I was trying to think of.
Maybe Jesse was the third.
Yep, right?
All right.
We'll take a break.
Be right back.
KSR.
T.J. Smith, personal injury attorney.
Call T.J.
He'll make them pay.
Now, more of Kentucky Sports Radio
presented by Stockton Mortgage.
Here's Matt Jones.
So, Shannon, this is Robert Duvall.
This is that crazy heart movie you mentioned.
Right.
Yep.
This is a great movie.
I love it.
Love this movie.
This is him singing it?
This is Jeff Bridges and Colin Farrell.
This is Jeff Bridges and Colin Farrell.
Okay?
And like they're good.
I think this is legitimately a good song.
Funny how Fallen feels like flying for a little while,
which is first of all, a great lyric,
Shannon, don't you agree?
Funny how Fallen feels like Flying for a little while.
But Jeff Bridges and Colin Farrell can sing.
Like the premise of the movie is Jeff Bridges is an old country singer who kind of mentors Colin Farrell and then he gets bigger than Jeff Bridges.
That's right.
Yeah.
Then Jeff Bridges is opening for him.
And then Jeff Bridges is opening for him.
Yep.
And their relationship is part of the movie.
But like the fact that Colin Farrell, an Irish dude plays a country singer and is good.
Yeah.
And Robert Duvall is like, is he Jeff Bridges manager?
Is that who he plays?
I think so.
Yeah.
Yeah.
It's a great movie.
Ryan, if you haven't seen it.
I think it's, I think Jeff,
Bridges won an Oscar for this, too, by the way.
Sounds awesome. I'm not heard of it.
You never heard of this?
No.
I mean, the whole soundtrack is really good.
They mix in real country singers, but Jeff Bridges sings a lot of the songs.
It's funny.
You know, some people, like their singing voice doesn't sound like their speaking voice,
but Jeff Bridges, you can tell that's Jeff Bridges singing.
No, it sounds like a speaking voice.
It sounds like the big LaBouse.
It sounds like the dude.
It does.
It does.
Doesn't it?
Yeah.
I'm a.
Doesn't that sound like it does?
It sounds like that could be in the big Lavowsky.
Colin Farrell.
Now, he sounds different when he's singing it.
But I'm going to listen to that soundtrack today.
I'd forgotten how much I liked that.
One person writes, Matt, it sounds like you want to give the counter view to Ryan on Jasper Johnson.
What is that?
Well, I don't want to be, first of all, I don't want to be counter to any kid, especially a Kentucky kid.
Especially a Kentucky kid that seems like a really nice kid and that I really like.
his family. But I'm a big believer, and I've been this believer for a long time, and I maybe
paused my opinion on this a little bit, because I do love having kids from Kentucky. I love
the fact that Malachi and Jasper and Trent Noah contribute and are all from Kentucky. That
really makes me really happy. I liked having Travis on the team. And Darius Miller's going to host
a pregame show. I love that he was from Kentucky. I love all that. With that said, I have
a stance that has been my stance and you've heard it a million times and my stance has always been
you do not play kids or recruit kids just cause they're from Kentucky if the tie if it's a tie game
the tie goes to Kentucky but you don't just pick people from Kentucky because they're from
Kentucky including former players as coaches I think mark has done a good job I hope he's does a great
job but you know you have to make sure you get the right guy and in the Kentucky parts a bonus
Jasper has played in my opinion the amount of minutes he should play.
He can shoot, and I love how he can shoot.
He had two big shots at Florida.
He also, Ryan, was minus 18 in the game at Florida.
All right, his plus minus was minus 18.
It was the worst on the team.
He cannot guard.
He cannot guard.
It's not even so much on his man.
He loses his man.
If you watch plays, a Pope kind of hinted at this after the game.
I mean, he didn't call him out, but I think he was talking about him.
If you watch plays, he just loses his man.
And it leads to breakdowns.
And Garrison is the same way.
They're the two worst offenders for it.
And, you know, it is what it is.
So he has a huge offensive upside.
And I'd be great having him come back.
But I do not believe Ryan he's playing too little.
I think he's playing the right amount.
because he scores, but he gives up just as much as he scores, if not more.
I really thought his minutes would probably go up when Jaylon Lowe went out.
I thought they're going to split those minutes at point guard,
but Aberdeen has played so well.
When Jasper comes in, he's not afraid to get that shot up.
I like that about him.
And I'm good with that.
I'm good with that.
I have no problem with him shooting those threes for the most part.
But you've got to guard the other side, you know?
So if we're talking next year,
there's no doubt they're going to bring in another elite point guard,
especially if Low Leads, they're going to go out and bring somebody in.
So do you want to keep...
Well, I think in a perfect world,
if you asked what they wanted to have happen when they recruited these guys,
they wanted Jalen Lowe to be here two years,
and they wanted to have a system where maybe Jalen and Jasper could work together,
and they'd have two guys who could both shoot and play off the ball.
I don't know if that's going to work.
So, you know, if they bring in another point guard,
I would understand why Drew he might decide to go somewhere else.
It's not a knock on the kid.
I think he can be great.
But if he doesn't improve defensively,
I don't think you can play him in these SEC games.
Well, one, I hope they bring in a different point guard.
I will actually be upset if we don't go shopping for a point guard.
Maybe you strike out and you end up with Lowen Johnson.
We'll worry about that.
But I don't think you can go into next year with a guy coming off a shoulder injury
and a freshman that barely plays as your back court.
But with Jasper, I would love to have him back.
But if teams want to get in a bidding war,
I don't think you can overpay him.
him because he's from Kentucky. You pay him
to be a backup guard that you hope takes
a big jump. But if Alabama gets
back in the picture and they're throwing him
a big bag, I think you need to be ready to
say we can't match that
if it gets into a bidding war. I'd love to have him, but he
needs to come at the price that he is,
not just because he's a local kid.
At various points this year, I've been
frustrated with the way we've managed the lineup.
Last five or six games,
in my opinion, Ryan, we're playing
the right guys the right amount of minutes.
They figured it out finally, didn't they?
I think they kind of are.
And, you know, you had like last game, Garrison played maybe more,
but that was because Malachi was in foul trouble.
Had to.
Yeah, in necessity.
So, I mean, I think they're kind of playing, like, you have to have O.A,
Aberdeen, and Chandler out there 30 plus minutes a game, all three of them.
We have to.
We don't really have a choice.
Whether that's good or not, I don't think there's a choice.
Those are the only dudes that keep it consistently flowing.
Who's next?
Roscoe.
Roscoe.
Go ahead, Roscoe.
Good afternoon, fellas.
Enjoying the topic today.
I had a couple additions to Robert DeVall movies that you hadn't mentioned, I don't think.
One, you played a country singer called Tender Mercies.
That was a great flick.
And he sung his own music.
Okay.
And the other one, I don't know if you did this or not, it was like a B film I found on HBO.
A Great Fantini?
Heard of it, never seen it, but heard of it.
Yeah, I've never seen it.
You need to take the time.
He's a washed-up airplane fighter from Vietnam,
and he's trying to settle back down and he doesn't want him to retire.
And he just, he's not having it that way.
He's kind of a bully.
It's a great movie.
One other thing, I thought the third official,
I thought the third official in the Florida game was Owen Short.
It may be right.
may be right. I thought there was a
dude named Jones, but either way, there's a
guy who I recognize his face,
and he drives me crazy when he's on
our games, and he was on that.
We're heading down to Lexington
right now. We've got tickets
for the game tonight against Arkansas.
Your thoughts on who's going to win?
Excuse me,
I'm sorry, Georgia.
Yeah.
Well, I think we're going to win. I mean,
I appreciate the call. I think we're going to win tonight.
We'll do the predictions here in a minute.
Also, Shannon, we talk, we talk about the movie The Apostle.
He sings Robert Duvall on that movie as well.
Oh, does he?
Okay.
All right.
He sings these, like, gospel songs on that movie, and it's really good.
I don't know if those, if that's online, but if it is, I think he sings, I think he sings a song with, like, Patty Loveless.
And it's like old, no, Emmy Lou Harris.
I love to tell the story.
is a hymn.
If you find that, then you have to, you know,
there are not many shows that will play Bad Bunny one day,
and I love to tell the story the next day.
But I love that hymn.
And he sings, I think, he sings with Emmy Lou Harris.
If you can find that for the next break, that would be good.
Who's next?
Steve.
Steve, go ahead, Steve.
What's up?
How are you guys doing today?
Doing good.
Hey, going back to what you were saying about Jasper Johnson and Gardner.
That took me back to the late 60s.
And there was a kid in eastern Kentucky that was averaging about 50 points a game.
And pressure was on Rupp to sign this guy.
And Rupp's comment was, if he scores 50, but the guy his garden scores 70,
we haven't gained anything.
Yeah.
And that can happen.
And I think Jasper can play defense.
I just don't think he does right now.
Maybe because I don't know.
And I don't know him well enough to know.
I just, if you were to go back and watch the Florida game and watch, he just loses his man a lot.
And when Garrison, Garrison gets picked on even more than Jasper, but Jasper does too.
When they come in the game, the other teams pick on them, you can watch it happen every time they get in.
Yeah. And as far as roster next year, I think we've got to build around Marino and Jasper.
and we got to have a solid point guard.
I mean, physically solid.
I don't think Lowe's going to fit that to deal.
Yeah, I mean, listen, I appreciate the call.
I'm not going to fight to keep low,
although I think I would, I like Lowe a lot.
I think you also have to be careful.
I mean, Lamont Butler was as physically solid
as anybody we've ever had play point guard.
And guess what, Ryan, he got hurt.
The same injury, Jalen Logan, right?
You know, it's a freak injury.
What point guard if we had a bigger build than Lamont Butler?
And he got the same injury, Jaylon Loden.
Well, there's not many too many stocky.
Are you still there?
Are you still there?
I'm thinking Anthony Epps maybe?
Well, yes, yes.
But I'm just saying to you like, that injury is a freak injury that Lowe got.
Now, he may not be the right point guard.
We'll see, but I don't think it's cause of that injury, true.
I mean, that injury was just a freak incident.
I agree it's a freak incident.
I just, and I said this last week, when you go to the portal,
I take emotions out and I want the best player at every position,
or at least I try.
You're clearly not going to go five for five.
You got to retain guys.
But I put emotions and you were here last year aside.
If there's dudes that were, you know, first team all conference,
they're wanting to be on the move.
I say, gentlemen, love you.
I'm calling him and we'll figure it out.
Yeah.

Because people scoreboard watch.
Life becomes about wins and losses.
Steve Burns, Dustin Ross,

This linebacker walks up to me, he goes, hey, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her.
What?
Time out.
Quarterback on office blue of 42.
Hey, rep, my mama want you to wave at her.
What?
Hey, Ms. Parker.

If you're watching the latest season of the Real Housewives of Atlanta, you already know, that's a lot.
lot to break down.

I think it looks like it's going to be interesting.

Welcome back, Tucky Sports Radio.
So this is from that movie, right, Shannon?
This is Jeff Bridges and Emily.
Lou Harris.
Emmy Lou Harris has one of the best voices ever.
I'm going to get that this is one of my mom's favorite song.
So, Ryan, I'm going to give it like 15 seconds of silence.
You should.
Go for it.
It's a great song.
It takes me back to Sneedville, Tennessee with my family in Hancock County.
859-2-80-2287.
Text machine 77-7-7525-4.
What about Jerome Tang, Drew?
They beat us in the tournament, and we were there in Greensboro, right, in 2020.
Is that right?
2022?
2023.
So 20, yeah, 22.
Yeah, 22.
Because 24 was right, reading Rob.
25 was last year losing Tennessee.
23 beats us in the second round, goes to Sweet 16.
I think they end up going to Elite 8.
he says after the game
we had the dudes or something like that
or did he say Kentucky
we had more dudes than they had
we had more dudes than they had was what he said
and all the sudden they started investing huge amounts of NIL
into the program
and he said we would be cutting
his quote was we'll be cutting down net sooner
rather than later
and now two and a half years later
fired. They are firing him for cause, which is an amazing thing. Because after the game the other day,
he said there were people that didn't, the players didn't deserve to wear the uniform, and he basically
crushed his players, which I thought was a bad move by him. But they are using it as a four cause
firing to try to not pay him $18 million. I'm going to make you a prediction right now.
This is my legal hat. Kansas State is losing that case. They're going to have to settle,
because if he sues, they will lose.
But what a fall for Jerome Tang Drew.
And remember that video of him dancing in the locker room?
It was real smooth.
It went everywhere in March Madness.
He was kind of a hot name.
He just came from Baylor.
Then he beats Cal, calls Cal out for the dudes,
and he has done nothing since.
They've actually had good rosters.
They've gone out and gotten some of the best portal players.
They've one of the best players in the country this year,
and he still can't seem to find wins.
I'm actually a little surprised.
he fell as quickly as he did from that high of 2023,
but I'm not surprised they let him go.
I don't think they'll win that lawsuit,
but their record has been bad with pretty good rosters the last couple of seasons.
It's been terrible.
I think Ugo was on the team, Ryan, right?
Didn't he get Ugo one year?
That's what's so funny.
He called Kentucky out for not having dudes,
and then he literally went out and got Ugo,
who wasn't even one of our alleged dudes that year.
Yeah, huge fall.
But do you think, okay, so assume his contract says,
that he can be fired for cause.
Usually they don't define what that means very well.
Usually it's like, I think some of the really good coaches do,
and they're basically like it's only if I do NCAA violations, etc.
Do you think coming out his statement where he was like,
our players don't deserve to wear the uniform,
do you think that is at worth a four cause firing?
You know, he probably shouldn't have said that,
but I don't see how you can justify that being.
then last place in the conference
they were looking for an excuse to fire the guy
I just don't think this justifies the fire
for cause when all he stated was
he didn't like his effort and didn't like his roster
didn't like he didn't deserve to put on the uniform
I feel like coaches say that all the time when their team's not playing well right
they don't deserve to wear the letters on their chest
that's not that uncommon
if that's for cause then anything's
for cause yeah right
coaches say
coaches say stuff all the time that
look I mean you only make team
million dollars, that's on you.
I'm a big believer.
You do not give coaches huge raises and extensions based on one tournament run, okay?
One.
If it's a great season or two seasons, but if you go on one run and you, then you're asking,
because sometimes you can get lucky in the tournament, Ryan, sometimes you can, like, get a good
bounce and a couple things.
Like you can't do that, and that's what they did.
Like Drew said, he was a hot young name.
Kansas State seemed to have it going on.
But they're awful right now.
And, you know, he's the guy to put that roster together.
He can't blame the players as much.
And they were awful last year, too.
If you could fire him for calls, did you see what Gottlieb said in his post-game press conference?
He was dropping out of control.
I mean, Gottlieb was out of control.
We can't even play what he did on the show.
It was unbelievable.
All right, a couple things.
First of all, Triviets, Thursday night at KS bar, 7 o'clock.
Get your team ready.
Come on out.
We're going to be doing it.
It be a lot of fun.
Trivia at KS bar.
Tonight pregame show starts at 6.30.
Darius Miller will be our guest.
You can come to the bar, meet him, see Darius, take pictures.
You can tune in on the radio at 630.
Let's make some predictions.
Ryan, what do you think happens?
I think eight and a half is a lot of points, but I think Kentucky will win.
I'm on to say Kentucky, they win, but don't cover.
I'll say 7770.
No, I mean, hang on.
I forgot.
Georgia scores a lot of points.
Let me go 81, 75.
All right.
Shannon.
I'll go Kentucky wins.
8578.
All right. Drew.
With their best player back, I think Georgia
actually plays well, keeps it close, but Kentucky
wins. I'll say
8479.
I think we will
fall down early.
About 15.
Hopefully not by 15, but
maybe by 8 or 9.
I think halftime, it's probably close.
Maybe even they lead by a couple.
We'll win, but it's going to be
a lot closer than we want it to be.
I'm going to say like 82.78.
I think this will be a more difficult game than we hope it is.
None of us has Kentucky covering.
Nobody picked Kentucky to cover.
Yeah.
I think, I don't know what it is.
This team plays better against good teams for some reason.
And Georgia, Georgia can put up points and getting their leading scoreback.
You know, I think it's going to be, I think it's be tough.
But I do think we win.
I think the crowd is big.
We need that 9 o'clock or up crowd to not be sleepy.
They need to be loud because I think that's going to matter.
We will see you at 6.30.
Thanks for listening.
