It seems like most fans are not a big fan of Jimmy Dykes in the least favorite.
We get a lot of his games.
Yes.
I have mixed emotions about, like I like Jimmy a lot as a person.
I think he's a pretty good announcer.
He clearly knows he always knows the UK team well.
But he's also somebody who is still in that mode of coaches who like the coach is always right.
No matter who the coach is, I take up for the coach.
Did it with Cal.
Does it with Pope.
And it includes a little bit of the sort of yelling at fans going.
You know, he's very much like, why y'all so upset?
And we've had him consistently for so long.
Like you hear drive the nail over and over and over.
the jet.
But yeah, I'm just saying.
I like the jet.
I get the exhaustion of hearing the same guy.
Last year, it was worse.
I even wrote a post about it mid-year.
But we had Carl Ravich and Jimmy Dykes so many games last year, and the record was terrible.
So I think you just get a little bit of exhaustion hearing the same voice over and over.
I think he's good, though.
He points out things that I think are good for us that darned, don't know all the intricacies of the game.
He brings out, points out stuff that help me understand why something happens.
No, he does.
He does.
I like the tournament because I just feel like the announcers make it sound bigger.
Kevin Harlan.
Yeah.
Iron Eagle.
It just feels like a lot more.
I don't know how exactly to say it.
CBS just always feels like a better production.
We forget that those games are on, but like I turned on yesterday and like that Purdue Ohio State game.
Like you can feel the energy, you know, and I sometimes I don't know that ESPN does it the best.
All right, so get the phones here in just a second.
Let's talk about my man, John Cal Perry and Todd Golden,
giving each other the old onesie-to-sy.
Florida just destroyed Arkansas.
They're up by 30 and they were still 10 minutes ago.
I still don't even know what they were fighting about.
But at some point, they get in an argument.
And I'm still not 100% sure what happened.
It looked like Todd Golden maybe said something to Cal.
But I'm not sure what it would have been about.
Do you?
No, because it's on Cal and you see him snap, kind of like a whatever it's, you talking to me or don't yell at me.
What, you talking to me?
Yeah, that.
Who are you there?
Like, you can see.
He's like, what?
And then Cal has probably done the best job of any coach in history at having multiple guys to hold him back.
He's got a lot of hold me back guy without fighting him off.
And it's good to have hold me back guys.
That way you never have to fight.
And you look really tough.
Yeah.
It's like if Kenny Payne wasn't here, you'd be seeing these guns.
You think Cal could actually fight if he had to fight?
No, but Cal, here's, Cal's like me.
Can't fight, we'll talk.
Yes.
Talk and then go hide behind Kenny Payne.
Well, no, Kenny Payne's enough of a good loyal assistant.
Cow doesn't even have to hide.
Kenny knows Cal needs me in front so he can yell.
Kenny Payne is Cal's
Perrin.
Yeah.
Perrin's great.
Perrin knows.
Matt's going to talk trash.
I'll get in front of it.
Todd Golden had a corner guy too, though.
Now here's a problem.
Todd Colton's guy, though, is not, he doesn't understand the game as much.
He had to pull him.
Todd Golden, see, again, Cal and I have something in common.
We look like in, who knows, because we're bigger guys.
Todd Goons are will.
skinny fella. He's got little baby arms. And so he talks trash and no one's scared of him.
I think 67-year-old cow thought he could beat Todd Golden up, don't you?
He's not nose little nerdy. I think he probably could actually. I think he probably could
too. So if you're going to talk trash like Todd Golden, you've got to have dudes who will hold you back.
And nobody was rushing to hold him back. Nobody. There was nobody rushing to hold him back. So Todd is kind of left
naked in the wind, yell it.
And as Cal turns around and goes, you want a piece of me?
If you'll notice in the video, Todd Golden pulls one of his assistants in front of him.
It was like the classic kill move in wrestling.
Oh, he did.
He was like Bobby Heenan throwing a guy in front of him.
He's like, hey, you're supposed to be holding me back.
Let me get behind you and yell.
He literally grabs his shirt in and pulls him too.
The camera's caught it.
So here's the thing.
Cal, over the years, in part because he's continued to hire these dudes, even when they're not good, he gets loyalty.
He's got these guys.
They know what they're supposed to do.
And Todd Golden's like, wait a minute.
You're supposed to be up here.
You're supposed to be helping here.
He's got to get his front.
Yeah, Todd had nobody in his front.
And when you're that little, you're going to need somebody in your front.
But I really liked it, Drew.
enjoyed the whole mess up.
See, I saw it as Cal having a little pent up like Todd Golden was me once upon a time.
He's got, oh, you think so?
He's got the ring on his finger.
He's won the regular season and the SEC tournament in the last couple years.
He's the hot name.
So you think he was like looking back in time and this was me 30 years ago?
And it's like I have to show younger me that older me still has that fire.
So you're, that's interesting.
I saw a big picture of thoughts because whatever Golden yelled, it shouldn't have triggered him that much.
Yeah, so you're saying like he was looking at his past.
It's like that movie we're talking about Crazy Heart.
Jeff Bridges saw Colin Farrell.
I was him.
And now he's more successful than I am.
But I have to let him know I'm still him.
But I'm still the king.
Yes.
And I have these guys that will hold me back.
I'm the king and I'm losing by 40.
And you know, see, that's what the same is built up a little bit.
That's true.
Todd Golden's a Bruce Pearl protege.
Probably the Pearl influence over him probably encourages him to be a little more
anti-cow. I liked. And it seemed like our fan base sided with cow. I think so.
I think there's also maybe in my scenario, they're looking at Golden getting a little cocky,
a little big for his britches at age 40, even though he has a success and maybe a little sympathy
for the older states. For the older gentleman. Yeah. In those ugly coats. Why? I don't know.
Why does he wear those coat, Shannon? He used to be Mr. Fashion. Oh, yeah, the red plaid.
Well, how did he get to Arkansas and start wearing like...
Pizza Hut table cloths.
Both wearing those coats now.
I mean, they're wearing like barbershop poles.
Like, why does he wear that stuff?
Pizza Hut table cloths is the good one.
Yeah, I mean,
Kyle, you were so...
I mean, there's got to be some suits with red in it that can look better than...
They get uglier every game.
It is a hard color to pull off.
Does he me require you to wear red?
No, no, I guess if you're just trying to show it.
mean, he didn't always wear Kentucky blue when he was here.
No, I guess Navy.
He usually wore black suits in a blue tie.
Can he not wear black suits in a red tie?
I don't know.
Those jackets are awful.
It's all that Tyson money he has.
He just wear whatever he wants.
Nothing makes my mom matter than those jackets.
Really?
Probably every time Shannon, they're in a nationally televised game.
Mom texts me and goes,
Cal in his stupid jackets.
What if it's a situation where, like, L.
went out and got all these jackets for him and now he feels obligated to wear them because
she you know like when somebody buys you something you feel like you're obligated to use it.
Well see, I'm not married.
Usually when people buy me things and I don't wear them, I'm just like, I wear them when I don't
see you.
I think he only had.
But you can't do that when you're married to somebody.
Yeah.
It seems only has three of them too.
There's like a rotation of the small picnic table, Pizza Hutwin, the one he had in the
golden fight.
I've got to think Ellen thinks they look bad too.
No woman is looking at.
those jackets going
I think she would tell them though
if she thought they looked bad.
Yeah, but he's the kind of guy who would be like, oh, you don't understand.
No, he would.
That's what he would do.
She's the one he should be trying to look good for if anybody.
Yeah, I agree.
Those are awful.
Just please let them meet in the SEC tournament in Nashville.
Let me play one more time.
No.
Who?
What, Golden and Cal?
Yeah.
Oh, I thought you're saying Kentucky.
No, I don't want to play Arkansas.
No.
I'd rather avoid them both.
just for...
Absolutely, but I want gold cow to play.
Golden cow, yes.
One person writes, Matt, I saw you at the youth basketball game yesterday.
I was very surprised to see you, but glad you supported your friends' kids.
Did it make you want to have kids?
No.
But I do think I can see why people...
Like, I was pulling for Max.
Right?
Like, I can see how people like their kids playing sports.
yet.
And so, yeah, I could see it.
But it didn't make me just, you know,
have my biological clock decided.
Even when you saw the dude that looked like you out there,
like that could be one of my,
could be my kid out there playing.
I'm going to support him every Sunday.
Well, I did sort of think like, it actually was.
Stop.
You know, I did think about like, you know,
because the parents are all very into it.
They're very encouraging.
One of the highlights of my life.
I was calling a lot more walks.
Oh, you were.
Got to let him go.
I was like, he shut up, it's not a jumpstop ref.
You'd be the parent like Ryan getting kicked out of the game.
No, I wouldn't get kicked out.
I was kind of laughing and I was cheering on everyone.
I was seeing like, some of these kids have good shoes.
You know?
Check out their sneakers?
Yeah.
The new tape, it's kind of nice, you know.
Let's go to Jeff.
Go ahead, Jeff.
I got a quick question, a quit statement.
I think there are recent success,
probably around the last 10 games has been because we shorten a rotation.
I mean, what are your thoughts on that?
Totally agree with you.
Totally agree.
And I think Pope did a masterful job with the rotation this week.
You know, he's really wanted to play 10 to 13 minutes a game for those guys and just
they've been a disaster.
But he found it to work well to where they kind of held serve while they were in.
So I thought he did a great job with it this week.
The guy to settle in the rolls a lot better, it seems like also.
Yeah, I agree.
My question was, recruiting-wise, goes, how would you delegate your money if it was Coach Matt Jones?
Would you, one stud, a high school player, one student, poor player, delegate the money?
All right, so I appreciate the call.
So what I thought about this during my drive back from Madisonville Friday.
Because I was looking at, all right, who are the, not just who's good this year,
but what programs seem to be set up the best?
And it looks like, for the most part, Duke, as much as it pains me, is set up to be good like every year.
And what they're doing essentially is they're basically keeping it within and maybe bringing in one or two transfers.
They're getting a high school class with like six guys.
One or two are studs.
But what Shire's doing is he's bringing in a lot of 30th, 60th, 40th, and those guys are staying multiple years.
And that's what he's doing.
And I think that's working.
But I don't think that's the only way you have to do it.
I think you can bring in one portal star, one, like, okay, so Yukon brought in some high school
stars, but then got a bunch of transfers too, and it's worked.
With only one guy that stayed all four years that Alex Caraband.
Michigan's pretty much all transfers.
So, Drew, there's a lot of different ways to do it.
I think Pope has to figure out what's the way to do it.
it works for him, but I haven't seen a consistent philosophy yet.
And so I don't know what his philosophy is.
I don't either, but if it were me, I'm probably top eight, maybe a ninth,
or getting my money and the rest.
I just don't want to have too many pieces like we do this year that have expectations
of playing.
I think Cal even said something similar to this recently.
And then you got to, even if you have to overpay, you have to get a stud,
whether it's the number one player in high school or one of the poor.
guys that you just know are sure things.
If you get to the table and another
school's overpaying a little bit, maybe
you don't want to put that up, you still have
to for just an alpha
to be on your team. I'm getting one stud
guard, one stud
big, and one stud
high school guy, and then
filling it around them. Yeah. That's what,
that to me is the perfect
thing. And then
every year getting two or three
secondary high school
guys that you bring up through your
I think that's where Pope kind of messed up this year.
He brought in Aberdeen, Diabate, and Cam Williams, all were six men coming in.
He didn't get a star.
He didn't get a dude.
Now, he probably would tell you he thought Jaywin-Lo would be that, but got hurt, etc.
But, yeah, you got to get a star.
I mean, I think now that we have no top high school recruits, when the portal rankings come out,
we better get two of the top 10 and three of the top 25.
if we're going to be good next year.
Do you agree with that?
I do agree with that.
Do you think Patino's new philosophy where he's not even said he's not even going to recruit high school kids?
I think that works for a guy who's 70 plus years old and doesn't have very long.
I don't think it's the best strategy for a long-term bill.
But Rick's probably thinking this is a one-year contract every year.
Yeah.
And he said that a year or two ago when we still had some 25-year-olds and 26 years.
That's going slowly going down.
All right.
We'll take a break.

Welcome to Matt, back, Tucky Sports Radio.
859-28027.
All right, I like this question.
First of all, one person says, Matt, how do you think Cal Perry would have won the fight?
He's not big.
How could you say he's big?
He's bigger than you think.
He's like 6-1.
I think Mario looked it up.
He's 6-2.
Maybe.
He's bigger than you think.
You think he's little because he's around all those tall dudes.
Uh-huh.
Yeah.
Plus he weighs.
I bet he weighs now.
I mean, he's gotten kind of big again.
I bet it's weird because his weight fluctuates a lot, too.
He's like Mark Stoops.
He looked really good in the summer, and he seems to put some of that weight back.
But he probably weighs 240, 250.
He's from blue color or Pittsburgh.
He can fight.
All right.
That gets the second question.
Royal Rumble of SEC basketball coaches.
We've done this for football.
Yeah.
Let's do it for basketball.
All the SEC basketball coaches.
coach is getting a fight. Who you got? Let's go through the candidates. Todd Golden.
He's out first. Oh, I think he's a contender.
Is he cheat?
Hang on. Hang on. Hang on. Nate Oates. Stephen Pearl.
Cal. Rick Barnes. Rick Barnes is out first. Yeah. Chris. Chris Beard.
Yeah. Okay. Who's the Mississippi State coach? Chris Jans.
Chris Jans.
The dentist.
Bucky McMillan. We'll see him. He's young.
the Texas coach.
Sean Miller.
Sean Miller.
Georgia is
Mike White.
Buying tenant Vanderbilt.
Buying Tenant Vanderbilt.
The Missouri, the guy with
always looks hands in the tie.
Dennis Gates.
And then the South Carolina guy in Lamont,
Paris.
Paris.
All right, who you got?
None of those stick out to me as an obvious winner.
Todd Golden's my winner.
He's young.
He's skinny.
He's a snot-nosed-nose little snot.
He did.
Well, who you can't put him?
You can't put Todd Golden.
I'll take Stephen Pearl.
No.
Everybody else is old.
Lamont Paris will beat Todd Gold.
Mark Pope's got the height that he's too nice of a guy.
Yeah, he's laughing.
He's just, you're special.
I'm going to eliminate myself.
Mark Pope's got reached, though.
These little dudes are going to be trying to get near him, and he's 6-11.
I love Pope, but did you see him punch that whiteboard?
I agree with you.
I'm not saying he's...
That whiteboard laughed at him.
I think they...
Rick Barnes is the first out.
Can we agree?
Rick Bunk because he's a thousand.
Yeah, age will get him.
I think Chris Jans is a guy that could be sneaky really good because he's kind of got that
fire or that little temperament.
Why do they call him the dentist?
That's it, because he's like playing against him like going painful.
Like going to the dentist office?
He's up against him.
He's a gankum of the rumble, Matt.
Okay.
So you're picking Todd Gold.
I think that's a weak pick.
Kind of easily.
Well, he's 40.
He played college basketball not even 20 years ago.
But isn't he like 5-9?
No, I'd say he's over 6 foot.
I'd say him and Rick Bond.
to the first two out. I'm with you. I don't get Todd Golden Love over here.
I feel like Nate Oates is really fiery though. You know, like he's not a big guy, but he has a
tip. He also, I feel like he would cheat. I could see him like doing an eye poke. He'd be bringing
in somebody from the G League. What's the Vandy guys? He's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's out
early, dude. He's, he's out early, dude. You all have not given me one contender. Chris Beard?
No. He'd be in top five, though. I'm taking Lamont Paris.
just visually.
He looks like a linebacker a little bit.
He looks like a linebacker.
I mean, he clearly can't coach.
He's got to be able to do something.
Fight.
Bucky and Bianton are both out in the first era.
Yeah.
But we do have a wimpy set of coaches.
We do.
Who's in Oklahoma?
Is it Porter?
Porter Moser.
I can't see.
I can't think of what he looks like.
Well, he dresses like a villain in superhero movies with his
He actually looks like he's in shape, though.
This Porter Moser guy.
Does he?
Yeah.
See, I mean, I would have said Jerry Stackhouse if this were two years ago.
Jerry Stackhouse would have won two years ago.
But Biontons.
What's Cal doing?
Is Cal in it very long?
No, I got the hip issues.
I got to think about age.
Most of these people are 60 close to it or older.
Well, not anymore, though.
The amount of 60-year-olds in the league has gone away.
I mean, we're down to Cal and Rick Barnes.
Yeah.
Moser's 59.
You got Rick Barnes.
Okay, so 59, Moses's not winning.
How old is Lamont Paris?
Not sure.
but Sean Miller's probably close to my age too.
Sean Miller's not winning.
He's sweating a lot, though.
He'll be hard to.
He's going out early too.
Yeah, Buckingham.
51.
Yeah, I don't think there is an answer to this.
It's golden.
To be honest with you, this would be a great fight to watch.
Well, if we're talking about 8th, then,
is Stephen Pearl's got to be maybe the youngest,
one of the youngest guys in the league.
What about Stephen Pearl?
Yeah.
He's wiry.
He's probably my second.
I'd probably go golden, Stephen Pearl, Chris Beard.
That's my three.
I have to tell you, it would be quite a, quite a,
battle. Mike, go ahead, Mike.
I think Moser would, I think
Moser's the guy after that. He's
cut. He looks like he's mad all the time.
He is, he does. He looks like an
army drill sergeant, Moser does.
He does.
Going back to the Arkansas
Florida game,
Golden told Cal to get off the floor. I didn't know
you could read his lips and tell Cal
and we all know Cal stays on the floor.
So he told him to get off the floor.
Oh, well, that would make cow mad.
That would make Cal mad.
I could see it.
Yep.
So they were yelling back and forth.
He told Cal to get off the floor.
Cal responded, I couldn't tell what he said.
When the ref teed Cal up,
Cal told the official, thank you.
I didn't know if you saw that either.
So a couple of odd things that happened.
Well, they gave them both a technical,
so it really didn't matter.
So that's probably why I didn't care.
Did you happen to catch Tom Hart?
giving props to John Short, he said we're...
I did, yeah, he did the Biggins.
He does that about once a year.
He did that.
Yeah, I thought Tom was great.
I love, you know, listen, I appreciate the call.
I love Tom doing games because he knows us, and he called the post game show on his way
to the airport.
So Tuesday night is to bring up Mr. Rogers' puppet?
Is that going to be what he's going to drop on Tuesday night?
You need to let him do it.
You can't tell him what to do.
You've got to let him figure out.
Organically.
Yeah, he's got to figure out organically, and he did the,
the left and right vocal chord organically.
Mm-hmm.
Yeah.
I told him that one.
Oh, he did.
Drew does give you some really good nuggets.
I saw him at halftime.
I talked to him during the break.
He told me I looked like crap.
It was a good conversation.
Austin, I didn't think you look bad.
Austin, go ahead.
Yeah.
What about Run, DOC for the name, nickname?
Like it.
Like it?
But the problem is you already had.
Appreciate the call run.
TL, what is it, run, what was it with Tim Hardaway and TMC.
I think it's got to be AOC people.
AOC's good.
AOC's good.
Somebody says that Dennis Gates was in the military.
Oh, that may elevate him up in my list.
I didn't know that.
Kind of younger guy.
Does that change you?
Got some fight.
Yeah, military experience takes you right to the top.
Stephen Pearl's apparently jacked.
Moser seems to be what most fans pick.
But I don't know if Dennis
Gates was in the military.
Gates is only 46.
Yeah.
I'm putting him above Golden now.
I'll go Gates, Golden Pearl.
No, Mozer.
He's 59.
He seems a little crazy and sometimes crazy wins these fights.
Interesting.
He's about to get fired anyway.
I think 610 Pope as well.
Being that tall is going to help.
He did fight bigs in the NBA.
This is a beautiful fight.
Yes.
We'll take a break.
Be right back.
KSR.
T.J. Smith,
personal injury attorney.
Call T.J.
He'll make him pay.

I do have a late entry that might be our favorite.
What's that?
Don Staley.

One of the comments on the text machine says,
one of the dynamics of the show I think is interesting is Ryan seems to slide
take up for Pope at all times.
No matter what happens,
Ryan finds a way to say something nice about Pope.
Counter to that,
Drew seems to always make Snide comments about Pope.
Does he not like him?
What's his deal?
Do you think both of these guys are on opposite sides of the spectrum
when it comes to Pope?
Well, I'll let you two answer that.
I make fun of everything.
So when you punch a whiteboard like that,
we're talking about fighting. I'm going to bring it up.
You do, but I do think you are more with Pope.
Like, if there's a spectrum of where we are on coaches,
you are very rarely the most negative,
although you and I are kind of on the same page on Cal.
You're very rarely the most negative.
But I think you are with Pope.
Ryan's almost always the most positive.
Not always, but most of the time.
But it does feel like with Pope you're more on the negative side than I've seen you with other coaches.
That's true.
Yeah, because they're 19 and 10.
I mean, Saturday was fun, but let's not act like this has been a great experience this season.
I mean, I love Saturday, but they've still lost 10 games, so I still have.
But do you think you have gotten negative quicker with him than you have other coaches?
Oh, yeah, because we haven't had the highs.
I mean, I still have several doubts.
I mean, I'm not in the anti- Pope campaign.
Don't put me in that group.
But I mean, through a year and almost two years of basketball, yeah, have a lot of concerns.
I mean, we do have, what was the Stephen Peake thing?
We've beaten 12 top 25 teams.
We had only beaten 13 in the five previous years.
Oh, that's why I'm not anti-against.
No, there's several highs, but I'm not going to act like it's perfect either.
Yeah.
Well, but I don't think Ryan acts like it's part.
I do think the text is right.
I do think you are more negative about poker than you have in other people.
No, I agree.
Because I haven't had the moments.
all coaches. I mean, like, you, you are more negative.
I, well, I've only had stoops, and that's my point. I have the highs of stoops.
I have not had highs with Mark Pope except those regular season wins, which I'm not taking away
from saying I'm anti-Pope. I'm just saying, right now they're 19 and 10, and I still don't have
a lot of optimism about March, even though Saturday was fun and I'm excited.
But, like, if we're talking about, yeah, I'd put stoops ahead of Pope, I'd put Cal ahead of
pope. I just haven't been there with him yet. All right. All right, so Don Staley. Yeah. So I
went to the women's game yesterday and I stood, I stood right like next to the South Carolina
bench. So I spent a lot of the first two quarters of the game just watching Don Staley.
Fascinating to watch. First of all, like, you could hear in the timeouts really smart.
Like I can see why they're so good. Like she would say exactly what she wanted to exploit when
she wanted to, she would be very, what I could hear, and I could only hear bits and pieces,
but she would be very much like, that player's not good, go at her.
But what was really fascinating was watching her with the refs.
She is constantly on the refs.
Not in a mean way, but in a like that, that.
That.
And I watched her, Shannon, I watched her get like three calls herself.
meaning she would go moving pick right there you see how she moved her moving pick moving pick and then the next time down watch out for the moving pick moving pick and then the third time down foul call moving pick moving pick so there you basically created the moving pick call and I'm not saying it wasn't a foul but she would she would almost set up calls two calls in advance she would go watch her on the block watch her on the block watch her on the block
Watch her knee on the block and then three times.
Fowl on the block.
I think it's like it might be like a psychological thing,
but I would watch her essentially plant the seed in referee's heads.
Not so much screaming you're wrong,
but saying this is happening,
this is happening and it would like be in the,
and then they'd call it.
It obviously works because she gets those calls.
I'm not,
I'm not even criticizing her.
It worked.
But it was fascinating to watch her do it.
Like she just, I watched her three times in the first half get calls that she got because of her kind of planting them in the referee's not screaming, being nasty.
She's not screaming you got it wrong.
She's saying that happened, don't let it happen again.
And then when it does, they would stop.
That's a good coach.
I mean, calling it ahead of time.
And even if she's not being over the top, there has to be a little bit of, I don't know if intimidation is the word, but she does have to carry it or that most coaches don't.
of the refs you could tell was a little, she would call the ref by name, and you could tell the
ref was like, okay.
She's calling me out.
Yeah.
That's Don Stey over there.
I just thought it was like a master psychology class watching her.
That's why she's so successful.
Watching her up close.
Will, go ahead, Will.
By the way, the women fought back real quick twice last night.
They were down 15 in the first half, came back and tied it.
Then they got down 13 and came back and had a shot at the end of tied.
they just, they were not able to win.
By the way, it was a great environment yesterday.
It looked awesome on TV.
It was awesome.
Crowd was into it.
You know, South Carolina is just good.
They have a couple players that are just,
sure they are.
Better than us.
But we were in it at the end.
You got to be honest, Matt,
what you were saying with Don Staley
might have been the difference in that game yesterday.
Yeah, I think it was.
Yeah, I mean, it may have been.
Like, just doing that.
That's how good of a coach he is.
That's how good of a coach he is.
But anyway, I really wanted to call on Friday.
You guys, I guess, were so packed with phone calls
and wanted to wish Drew.
Congratulations on the homecoming.
That was cool.
And the shot.
Wish you guys live streamed it, by the way.
That would be cool.
But I was going to call and say that UK was going to win against Vandy by at least 10.
And I look like a genius.
So I'm kind of mad.
And truly, the one thing I want to say kind of ties back with what you guys were just saying
about the coaches and everything.
Mark Pope is a fighter.
The only coach in the SEC that played in the NBA.
if I remember correctly.
I would take him in a fight.
I want him as our coach.
He's better than Cal.
We ran Cal out of town.
We got to stick with Pope.
Hold down the fort.
Appreciate the call.
He's taking Pope in the fight.
Be interesting to have a board.
Because I think there's at least six or seven contenders.
I think contenders,
well, throw Todd Golden in there for Drew,
Bruce Pearl.
If Dennis Gates was in the military,
excuse me, Stephen Pearl,
if Dennis Gates was in the military,
Lamont Paris,
Porter Moser,
Yes.
And I'm going to put Pope.
That's six legit contenders.
That's not even counting the dentist.
We were talking during the break.
Did Pope get any fights in the NBA against big guys in the NBA?
He knows how to fight, maybe.
What was the Madisonville thing like for you?
Oh, it was awesome.
I knew we'd have a big turnout.
I even told Ryan and Mario and Billy the night before, like, man, y'all get ready.
They're very excited here.
I felt it brewing, but nothing like what we actually walked into.
I couldn't believe it with the full bleachers around the court.
just a very cool moment.
I was shocked how many people were there.
It was awesome.
And I was shocked how strong Sid's arm was.
Poor Sid.
Almost broke the backboard on his shot.
I said Drew a note.
I said,
I hope Drew,
you took a minute to step back
and appreciate what was happening
because they came,
that town loves you.
And I only wish your mom and dad was there
because that was really a special moment for you on Friday.
It was.
I felt like I knew every face in the crowd.
Sunday school teachers,
school teachers,
old coaches,
friends, parents that helped raise me
when I was being an idiot and probably TP in some of their houses.
Not probably.
It's great seeing everyone.
It really was.
That will be one of my favorite shows we ever do.
I'm glad you deserved it.
And it was a lot of fun to be there.
It was.
And people were so nice.
A lot of people took off school and worked to come.
So thank you to Madisonville.

Welcome back, Tegi Sports Radio.
A couple of things I want to do before we take calls for the end of the show.
So if you were listening to Pregame Show, Josh Hopkins, UK fan was on.
He is one of the producers for a movie, a short movie that's nominated for an Oscar called The Singers.
It's nominated for Best Short Movie.
These are movies that are 30 minutes or shorter, Shannon.
Which, you know, you don't ever see movies that are 30 minutes or short.
Sometimes I watch these long movies.
I wish they would be 30 minutes.
This is perfect for me.
This is a perfect thing.
And so he has one called The Singers.
It's on Netflix.
And he came on the pregame show to talk cats and tell people to watch it.
So I watched it.
First of, I thought it was great.
Did you all watch it?
I was disappointed than it ended.
I wanted to keep going.
I enjoyed it so much.
It was a long movie.
Yes.
Too long.
I wanted to be a two-hour movie.
It was outstanding.
It was so well done.
I loved it.
First of all, I feel like these short movies are your thing.
Perfect.
You should watch all the nominees.
I should watch them all.
Because, like, they are, I think right now on Netflix, they're all on.
I think it's, you can watch all five of them.
All you get all the nominees?
They get to the point.
I like that.
There's no messing around.
So I thought the singers, which of course made in part by Kentucky, you know, they,
Shannon, they found like nine guys who were really good singers on TikTok.
Some of them were homeless.
Some of them singing the sun.
Some of them just do whatever.
And they brought them all together and created this movie.
I think I would probably like that.
And Drew, I think it's kind of beautiful.
Like when he said it was beautiful,
I was like he's just channeling Mark Pope.
But it is kind of beautiful.
And I sat and watched it Saturday night with my friend Hubby.
And we both were like, this is wonderful.
So shout out to Josh, 20 minutes.
You got just turn on Netflix, the singers, watch it.
I think everybody will like it.
I loved it. I went and looked up all the actors because I needed no more. Well, they're not even actors. That was their first game.
None of them have acted before, Shannon. They're all just regular people. Sounds more like a documentary.
But they're not playing themselves. Okay. I like it being 18 minutes because I almost felt, you know, with movies, I pick up my phone. I just, I like set my phone down. I was like, you can't miss a second in an 18 minute movie. So I was dialed in.
Well, I'm glad you liked it. I really liked it. I do have a question. Who won the $100?
Okay, no spoil.
These people haven't seen it yet.
Well, they don't know what I'm talking about.
It's only 18 minutes.
But they're going to turn.
You don't understand the premise of a spoiler or like.
Well, how about we let everyone watch it?
Yes.
And then we can talk about it.
I just wish it didn't end.
The way it ended, I'm like, come on, I want more.
Yeah, Ryan, you want to tell us anything else?
You want to go and just tell us what happens?
Just leave it.
Stop.
It's called the singers.
It's 20 minutes.
Well, I think everybody watching a like it, there's some salty language, so maybe you've got to be careful with kids.
But everybody else, I think they'll like it.
I love the way it was shot, too.
Really well done.
Yeah, very well done.
Great job associate producing.
And then I don't, yes, he did.
I look for the credits to see his name scroll up.
Tomorrow, by the way, is if you're talking about, this is just me personally, I don't care what anybody else thinks about this.
I'm just telling because this is, you know, part about things I like because it's our show.
The only election in America I care about until November is tomorrow.
He's tomorrow.
Yes.
What is it?
This dude, I told you about him three years ago, James Taurico, the dude that I saw on TikTok years ago, this legislator in Texas that I like a lot.
And I don't care if you all like him or not.
You don't have to tell me you like him or not.
I like him.
Christian running as a Democrat.
We don't see a lot of those that are vocal.
His primary is tomorrow in Texas, and it's going to be very close.
The person he's running against is not, she can't win.
We need him to win, or I want him to win.
Because if he wins, I'm going to be honest with you, Ryan.
I'll probably this summer go to Texas and work for him a little bit.
Really?
Not officially.
Like, I'll volunteer.
Sure.
Because I like this guy so much.
But he might lose.
He could lose.
Like, it's very, like, it's very close.
So there's the primaries in Texas
That way we're seeing all these Texas
Political ads
Yes, because the primary is Tuesday
Gotcha
Like our primary in Kentucky's not till what May
May
Seeing a lot of those
Political ads already though
Can Nate Morris and Andy Bar just agree
Just chill
Every other commercial break
And it's gonna be like this
The whole NCAA tournament
Yep
Does Daniel Cameron have any money?
I haven't seen one of his spots
I haven't seen one Daniel Cameron ad
Have you?
Maybe he's just letting Nate
Morris and all those guys blow their money and then he'll jump in.
Oh, you think he's like waiting in the back with a steel chair?
Yeah.
I just prefer the YouTube Zin where it's just like fish on the screen and none of these commercials.
Does Nate Morris the guy that's fully woke and full of, is that the one you're talking about that runs?
Well, Andy says he's fully woke.
Well, there's a ad that runs.
It runs all the time.
And then Andy Barr's like, I ain't apologizing for being what.
What?
Or a Christian.
Who was asking you to?
Anyway, see, that's why Southland can't listen.
Well, maybe Daniel Cameron's got too political.
That's a two-minute segment.
But Southling, you can watch the singers.
Yes, very good.
Very well done.
Eric, go ahead, Eric.
Hey, guys.
I just, I tried to call last week, but since you guys brought up JQ and his father being
upset, I just, it's been on my mind as well.
And I guess it's, it's disappointing.
I feel disappointed.
because I don't see any indication that this is a Shaden Sharp type scenario where...
I don't either.
I don't either.
His entourage was pretty vocal about, you know, we don't want him playing.
I feel like Jay Key would be out there in a heartbeat.
Nothing I've seen from that kid.
So, you know, he had the chance to go to Arkansas, follow Cal.
He didn't.
That speaks volumes to me that he wasn't a Cal guy.
He was a Kentucky guy and he wanted to come, you know, live out.
his college dream playing for the cats.
And I think Ryan's been kind of on his side as well a lot, just, you know, pointing out
to fans that, like, this guy had a pretty insane injury just in February of last year.
And it's amazing that he actually came back.
But I just wish our fans, you know, I wish they'd lay off the guy.
There's a chance he could come back, you know?
Yeah.
Yeah, I think that's unlikely.
But I appreciate the call.
I don't really disagree with you.
David, go ahead, David.
Hey, guys.
How are we doing today?
Good.
What's up?
Just follow up on the Tom Hart comment about the cat's up by 21 Biggins.
Just brought a cheer to my eye when he said that.
I hope, John got to hear it.
I appreciate the call.
It was very nice of Tom to do.
Harper, go ahead, Harper.
Hey, what's up in?
Y'all doing all right today?
Yes, go ahead.
Good. I was just, I didn't, I got in on the show late, so I didn't know that you.
I'd already talked about JQ. I was just going to ask about the possibility you think of him coming back.
I think it's very low.
I'd be very sweet.
I mean, you there? Go ahead.
No, he hung up.
Yeah, I think it's very low. Very, very low.
Not this late in the game.
Just study hadn't practiced and it's the last week of the season.
Draft Kings, you bet $500 in bonus bets.
Madness is coming. The KSR Parlay is here and ready to go hit the other day, so we'll be playing
a lot more going to the tournament. Iowa State and Arizona, number four versus number two tonight
on Big Bundy. I'm a big fan of Arizona. When they're at full strength, they are very, very good.
I pick Arizona. I think it spreads like up by eight-eighthish. I'm going to say Iowa State covers on the
road. Arizona pounded Kansas. Yeah, they did. At home. Who's your pick to win the title right now?
Michigan or Arizona or Duke.
I didn't know. Okay, but you don't, oh,
who's your pick to win the title? You don't just get to say
all the good teams. Who is your pick
to win the title? Arizona. Arizona.
Surprise pick here. I'll say
Yukon. You con.
Kenan. Michigan.
All right. Duke. See, we all got different ones.
Those are the squad though, right there.
Let me just also say,
my second, my,
I would go Duke won Arizona to
Florida, third. Yeah.
And I think there's a drop off to the next tier
of good teams. Those five, I think, are the best. And then I'll never count out Houston with
Kelvin Samson. But if you make me pick, I think Duke is scary good right now. And I think it's
scary good how good John Shire is. You know, most of the time, the whole guy after a legend
doesn't work, but he's figured it out. He's figured it out. And you listen to, like, I was listening
to Sam Vassini talking about it and he's just like, they're just rolling. They're just set up every
year to be good. They've got this factory ready. So
I don't want them to win, but I think they're good. All right, tomorrow. We'll
see you later. This has been Kentucky Sports Radio.
