Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier. This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer, Streeter Seidel, help an a cappella band with their between songs banter. Where does your group perform? We do some retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter.

Starting point is 00:03:11 Now here's Matt Jones. Welcome back. Hour number two, Kentucky Sports Radio, 859-2-80-2287. Text machine 772-7-745254. The KSR Golf Scramble is now on sale for Lexington. It is on sale starting to 11 o'clock. The link, let's see. Drew, do you mind tweeting out the link until I can do it after the show? All right, Drew Franklin will tweet out the lead.
Starting point is 00:03:37 It's also on Kentucky SportsRadio.com. So if you would like to play, it's always fun this year. It's at the UK club, which I think is a great course to have it at in Lexington. Two different courses playing the event. If you've never played in it, it's one of the most fun things we do all year. The Lexington one is especially exciting because there's a ton of people, and it's just, it'll be at the end of May. I think it's May 29th, I believe, is the date.
Starting point is 00:04:08 So check in, get your team and play. It'll sell out, so don't be, don't waste your time, but go and join us. Like I said, great day for KSR fans, and always, the Lexington one especially, I'll always have a special guest. So make sure to sign up. and look forward to seeing you out there at the end of May for the KSR golf scramble. We, a couple questions coming in here. One person writes, Matt, I understand about Shea and Kaysen.
Starting point is 00:04:38 It is what it is. But people need a place to go when their career is over. That's when all these guys embrace Kentucky. Ryan, I totally agree with that. You know, you get one school. And I don't think like, you know, how many times do we see, Derek Rose at a Kentucky game, right? Great point.
Starting point is 00:04:59 His school is Memphis. So I do think ultimately these guys, when it's over, they pick the school they went to because they will be beloved there forever. I mean, it would be weird for Kays and Wallace to show up in an Arkansas game in 30 years. The people would be like, what are you doing here? You know, so it would be Kentucky. I think as they get older, like I said earlier, it kind of soaks in more because they come back and they feel that love.
Starting point is 00:05:24 We even heard from guys like Khalil Whitney, who, kind of left kind of under a little shadow of controversy. He comes back and then it's still here. He loves this place here. So I think maybe as time goes on, Casey will also come back, feel the love and become part of our family again. Another person writes, Matt, you've gone a long time without commenting on the fact that the president denied your request to come on the radio to talk about Mitch Barnhart's contract.
Starting point is 00:05:50 They did. UK denied and said President Capiluto would not come on. asked about having him on to talk about the I thought by the way it was 1.8 million I talked to a spokesman for UK yesterday I actually think Drew it was more money than that because they did not add so WKYT initially reported
Starting point is 00:06:13 that they added $150,000 a year in salary and they reported that added $250,000 bonus UK tells me they did not add the bonus So take that $250 away. But they actually added, drew two years to his contract, which I thought it was just one. So if you do the math there, that ends up being around $2.2.1 million of extra money. So I offered to have President Capiluto on to be questioned about it, and they have denied the request.
Starting point is 00:06:51 I asked them last Monday or last Tuesday and just heard back from them yesterday. I am told they are doing an interview with another show on another station, which, you know, I'll let everybody make whatever comment they want about whether or not it makes sense to go on a show, Shannon, that honestly I didn't know existed until I was told they were going on it. I'm not even talking trash. I didn't even know that show existed. So, you know, if they want to go on a show where they might as well go open the window and scream outside, that's fine. But, you know, you can make your own determination why they wouldn't want to face questions here.
Starting point is 00:07:37 But nevertheless, that's the response I got. Is that impression, what are you hiding? Why won't you come on and talk about it? Why are you hiding? Well, it is what it is. They don't have answers. that's what's happening. Yeah, I mean, what are you going to say?
Starting point is 00:07:53 I mean, I mean, what are you going to say? Like, and I think that's part of, I'm told they're going to do some media and that's fine. But the question is, you're going to do media where you're asked questions or not. I would ask questions. I think people know that. And so they chose not to. But it's inarguable that this is the biggest platform. Okay, that's not.
Starting point is 00:08:18 There's no way to debate that. So if you want to get your story out, this is clearly the best place to do it. If you don't, well, that's ultimately your choice. UK and Santa Clara. I put out that video yesterday, Drew, saying, why are we all acting like we're scared of Santa Clara? And it felt like most people, I think, agreed with me. I feel better about the game today than I,
Starting point is 00:08:48 even did yesterday. I don't understand everybody's fretting. Don't get me wrong. We could still definitely lose because this team has shown they can lose to a lot of teams. But we are better than them. And if we play the way we should, we will win. Drew, is that how you feel going into it? I feel pretty good.
Starting point is 00:09:12 You know, having the lowest point spread of the opening round isn't the most exciting. There's one other game that was a one and a half. We're next as the tightest point spread. For all games? I mean, there were other two and a halfs, but two and a half, there's only one spread that was one and a half. So we're right there is what the desert thinks about it. But I still just feel like as a fan base,
Starting point is 00:09:33 we're being a little too cautious because we've been hurt so much recently. This is Santa Clara. Yeah, they played Gonzaga three times and they lost all three, and they beat St. Mary's, which is a great team. But beyond that, they haven't really been challenged. I think even though we're pretty disappointed in Kentucky, running that gauntlet of the SEC that they just did, I feel like they played pretty well in all three games.
Starting point is 00:09:54 The SEC tournament just could make shots on Friday. This should be a game Kentucky handles. I mean, this is a logo game. If we show up intimidated at all, that's a problem. You have to be prepared to beat a team from the third-place team in the West Coast conference in your Kentucky. That is a game you have to win, and it should be inexcusable.
Starting point is 00:10:11 I don't care how many threes they take that you would lose in the first round of this team. So I have concerns about rounds. two, but I am not looking ahead, but I'm also not panicking because Santa Clara is in front of us. Yeah, I mean, I understand that we lost to Oakland and St. Peter's, but that was not Mark Pope. And I know we've lost a bunch of games this year. But correct me if I'm wrong, is every team that's beat us this year, are they in the tournament? Am I correct about that? Not Auburn. Auburn is the only one, and they were the first team out, right? Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:10:49 So, I mean, St. Peter, or excuse me, Santa Clara. Don't say that name in March. Santa Clara has lost to Loyola, Chicago, to New Mexico, and to Arizona State. And as far as wins they have over tournament teams, they have two, St. Mary's. That's it. They beat St. Mary's twice. But they lost to Xavier, or excuse me, they beat Zernerner. Xavier, they beat Nevada.
Starting point is 00:11:17 And the only major conference team they've beaten is Minnesota, who I think came in last place in the big 10. So, you know, again, could we lose? Of course we could lose. But the fretting about it, Ryan, just doesn't make any sense to me. Well, we're gun-shy because of what has happened the last couple of years. I bet I went to three different places yesterday and heard the same thing. Well, Stanley Clare, shoot a lot of threes, and you're a great offensive.
Starting point is 00:11:43 But Shannon, you said this. the precinct. Like, who's watched them? Yeah, all of a sudden, everybody's a Santa Clara expert. I hear, I'm so tired of if we don't match up well with Santa Clara. If we don't match up well with Santa Clara, then who do we match up well with? Tell me. The same people who are vaccine experts and who are weather experts have become Santa Clara expert.
Starting point is 00:12:04 That's true. Very true. You haven't watched them play a second. You haven't watched them play. Like when they say they shoot threes well, my question is, do you think we shoot three's well? Because we shoot the same percentage they do. So who shoots threes well? They shoot the exact same percentage we do.
Starting point is 00:12:25 So, I mean, unless you think we just light up the nets, Drew, I don't know how you can say that. Well, they rebound well. Well, our rebound differential is greater than theirs, and we play better teams. And those teams that are playing, are they better defensively than Kentucky is? Those teams they're shooting well against. They're not shooting against SEC caliber teams. I mean, if our rebound. differentials better than theirs and we play better teams.
Starting point is 00:12:47 How can you look at me in the face and say they're a really great rebounding team? Now, that doesn't mean they won't beat us. It doesn't mean that they aren't good. But when did we get so scared as this fan base? And you can't just say, well, I've been let down or Mark Pope's not a good coach. Some of it is also like you walk in this building like you're a Kentucky fan. We don't walk in and go, oh, Santa Clara. come on
Starting point is 00:13:16 I completely agree with you if you want to be nervous about Iowa State fine but this is Santa Clara fuck up I would rather play their style of basketball than a team that wants to just come in and turn it into a rock fight and play in the 40s if they want to get up and down and play in transition
Starting point is 00:13:36 and shoot okay I think that's a better matchup for Kentucky now sure their guys I mean they have three all conference first team players I mean they They deserve some respect. And if those guys get hot and shoot 50% from three-ish-or, maybe we're going home. But I'm not walking into this with nightmares of Santa Clara Broncos in the first round of this. But how many of our guys, if they played in the West Coast Conference,
Starting point is 00:13:57 wouldn't be first-team All-American? Or first-team all-conference, or whatever it is they have. First of all, I think don't they have like 10 guys on the first team? Okay, so they got three of them. That's nice. You think O'A would be first team in the West Coast Conference? Yep. You think Aberdeen would be first team in the West Coast Conference?
Starting point is 00:14:14 Probably. You think Moreno would. You think Chandler would. Like there'd be a lot of our guys would be if they played in that conference. It's just I don't get, I don't understand the being afraid. It's the doom and gloom. I get frustrated. Everyone should be frustrated.
Starting point is 00:14:34 But there is a moment that when you're playing, they haven't been to the tournament, Shannon, since Steve Nash played. That was 30 years ago. That was 30 years ago. If they win, it's a disaster. It's Jack Gulky. It may not be Jack Gulky, but like it's a disaster. But to be scared of them, you know, I want to be like Marlon Brando and the Godfather
Starting point is 00:14:57 and smack and go snap out of it. All right. I'm done. Now, I will say, if I may pay them one compliment. Okay. They're forward, the freshman graves. If he would like to move to Lexington this summer. I'm for it.
Starting point is 00:15:13 He's great. That's a guy. He's going to. I'm not, I wrote this on the board, and people thought it was crazy. He's going to be like a Yaxil-type transfer player. I'm not saying he's good as Yaxil, but his phone's going to ring a lot, and he'll command close to him out as money as Jaxil. I think he will be one of the hottest portal names this spring.
Starting point is 00:15:29 Pope even said he's going to be a lottery pick in a couple years. So when you're watching Allen Graves, maybe, you know, in the back of your mind, think, hey, that'd be a fun guy to have on our team match. He's our toughest matchup, and he's the one you've got to, you got to watch. because he, I think he's averaging, what, 13 points a game, and he's a four. It's going to be, like, Diabate's going to have to play on him. I can already see that he'll have six points in the first timeout and we'll have to switch defenders on him. He's really good.
Starting point is 00:15:58 And he might be the one place that they have a positional advantage on us. I will take the bet, though, Shannon, on whether he's a lottery pick with Mark Pope. He doesn't even start. He's going on record. What did you say? He doesn't even start. But he does do everything well. He's good.
Starting point is 00:16:13 I love Mark Pope, but I'll take the bet on him being a lottery pick. I'll go ahead and take the money on that. But he is very, very good. Who's up next? Let's go to Wes. Wes. Go ahead, Wes. Good morning.
Starting point is 00:16:28 I had a question. I know there's one round being playing in San Diego. Are those players going to have to play the Jock Packs like they did for the Super Bowl? Are they going to have to do what? pay the jock tax like the NFL kids did you don't do that for college basketball your your your your your rev share isn't based on the where the game is okay I just I just wonder because you know because in the NFL in the NFL you get paid by game that's how the NFL works so you get your salary is like 20 million dollars but it's actually paid week to week by game which is why
Starting point is 00:17:07 that happens okay got you that makes sense and there's like Super Bowl bonus. I appreciate the call that you get for the Super Bowl, which is why you have to pay that. That's not true in college. It's actually not even true in the pro sports. It was unique because you get money for winning the Super Bowl, which is why that story about the Jock tax. And by the way, they made a big deal about it in California, but it happens wherever the Super Bowl is played. Right.
Starting point is 00:17:33 If there's a tax where the Super Bowl's played, you pay it. It's just people made a big deal about it because the taxes are higher in California. Serve pros. was the number one choice in cleanup and restoration, whether it's mold, fire, storm, or water damage, we've got a pro for that. ServePro, servepro.com. They will make it like it never even happen. If you have a disaster in your house, that's terrible, but serve pro can make it better.
Starting point is 00:17:57 S-E-R-V-P-R-O-com, make it like it never even happened with ServPro. We'll take a break. Be right back. This KSR. Last night, a blown call changed a game. Sometimes when we're in the pursuit of the thing, we get so wrapped up in the chase that we don't realize that we are in possession of the thing. And we're still chasing it. And we don't know when we've done enough.
Starting point is 00:19:24 Because people scoreboard watch. Life becomes about wins and losses. Steve Burns, Dustin Ross. Because you find it important to be a good person while you hear on earth? Are you a good person because you're afraid? Because that's two different intentions, bro. Absolutely. And that's two different levels of trust.
Starting point is 00:19:40 I want you to just really be a good person. Join me, Keer Gaines, as we have real conversations about healing, growth, fatherhood, pressure, and purpose on my new podcast, learn the hard way. Open your free iHeartRadio app. Search, learn the hard way, and listen now.
Starting point is 00:19:56 Jacob Kingston grew up in an isolated polygamous sect. We were God's chosen, kingdom on earth. He felt destined for greatness. So when a swaggering our meaning, businessman, catapults Jacob into an extraordinary world. He doesn't look back. Ferraris and Lamborghinis, private jets, meeting the president of Turkey.
Starting point is 00:20:18 I'm Michelle McPhee, and this is one of the most shocking criminal conspiracies I've ever come across. When Jacob met Levant this plant to a billion dollar fraud. But with two kings from entirely different worlds, just how long can their empire survive? The largest tax investigation in American history. You need to tell me what you know. Is somebody coming after me? Jacob told Levan, you're ruining my life.
Starting point is 00:20:46 Listen to Kingdom of Fraud on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal but encouraged. It's the enhanced games. Some call it grotesque. Others say it's unleashing human potential. Either way, the podcast Superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year. Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds. I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth.
Starting point is 00:21:20 Listen to Superhuman on the I-Hard Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Welcome back. Tuget Sports Radio. Text Machine 772-745254. One person writes, Matt, feels like you were talking trash when you said going on a show. that no one's ever listened to, or that you'd never heard of. Shannon, I hadn't heard of it.
Starting point is 00:21:44 What do you want me to say? There's a million shows I've never heard of. Everybody's got a show. I literally did not know the show that they're going on was a show. Did you, Drew? I found out through the graphic that I saw. I didn't know it was a show. So it's not talking trash.
Starting point is 00:22:01 I just didn't know. But then again, like, yeah, Shannon's right. There are shows that I don't know exist. I'm sure that interview will do really well. One person writes, Matt, would you go on a show that has bad-mouthed you for years? You've made fun of Mitch and questioned every movie is made. If I were UK, I'd never give you an interview. Okay, that's fine.
Starting point is 00:22:21 I mean, that can be your, first of all, it's not true that I've bad-mouth Mitch for years. I've said I think he's the best AD here. If to go on a show, the only way you can do it is if no one on the show has ever, criticized you, then that's such a terrible media relation strategy. You want, like, you should want as a leader to convince people that disagree with you. So think about the people who, like, they just use politics. Barack Obama did interviews with Bill O'Reilly at the Super Bowl. Bill O'Reilly, criticized him every night, but he still did the interview with him.
Starting point is 00:23:01 Donald Trump, when he ran for president the first time, he interviews with anybody. that wanted to do him and that's in part how he won. You know, I have a lot of respect for people who will do interviews with folks that disagree with them. If you only talk to people that agree with you, that's the lamest thing in the world. You're just preaching to the choir. It's like church. Preacher should go out in the community and win people over. If you're only talking in the building of your church, who are you winning over? So, you know, if Eli Capiluto wants to convince the UK fan base that this contract makes sense, Ryan, why wouldn't you talk to the UK fan base?
Starting point is 00:23:43 Right? This is where they are. So, and one more thing, and I'll shut up about it. Ryan, have I ever not been fair to someone that came on an interview here? Even the people you're totally against, you've been very fair. I'm moderated the Kentucky Republican primary. Mary debate. That's true.
Starting point is 00:24:04 Yeah, you did. Yeah. Do you not remember? Do people not remember that? I'm moderated. I'm moderated Matt, I'm moderated Matt Bevin and Jack Conway and Bevin won the debate with me as the moderate. You had Mitch McConnell on this show.
Starting point is 00:24:17 I've had Mitch McConnell on. I'm going to have Rand Paul on my podcast. Like, you know, I had Marco Rubio on. I had Ted Cruz on. You don't think I can be respectful. to Eli Capoludo? Like, come on. It's just people not wanting to be challenged.
Starting point is 00:24:39 And if you have a position you believe in, if I was some crazy person who wasn't respectful to people I disagree with, then fine, I understand. But when have I ever done that? Give me an interview where I've ever been mean to the person. Never. So I just think it's lame. But it's their right, and that's fine.
Starting point is 00:24:58 Who's next? Justin. Justin. Go ahead, Justin. Hey, guys. First time, long time. Who are? Thank you.
Starting point is 00:25:07 I just wanted to say, I have a fair amount of confidence that Kentucky will get past Santa Clara. And my question was, was it the last year with the Harrison Twins, maybe 2014, when Kentucky, I want to say they were like an eight seed. And they went to the final four. And they were in St. Louis. And they were in St. Louis. That's right. That's right. They were in St. Louis.
Starting point is 00:25:33 And they, you know, they definitely weren't expected to go that far. And, but I remember as the tournament went on, I just was like, wow, these guys can beat anybody. They really can't. I don't really feel the same about the team this year. But I do have confidence we'll get past Santa Clara. And I think we got a pretty good draw. And with that, I totally agree with that. I totally agree with that.
Starting point is 00:25:56 I appreciate the call. Remember in that year, in that year, in that year, Drew, I was really worried about Kansas State in the first round. We didn't even go to the game because we thought they might lose. And then once they beat Kansas State, they, of course, went on that run that people will remember forever. Yeah, and I agree that the ceiling of this team probably isn't a Final Four run. But as someone who thinks Iowa State is going to beat Kentucky, I'm not like thinking
Starting point is 00:26:19 it's impossible. I mean, Iowa State has some disappointing results the last several years in the NCAA tournament. It's not like there's some world beater that's just going to run the table. I don't have a lot of faith. Can Kentucky do it? But I'm not ruling it out by any means. They can get hot and win, you know, three, four games. Everybody's had 24 hours.
Starting point is 00:26:36 Have we found our most favorite or memorable Iowa State NCAA tournament moment yet? Forgot to look that one up last night. You got 24 hours. I finally remembered one moment when Hampton beat them and they picked up that little chubby coach in the air. Yeah. That was against Iowa State. Against Iowa State. I was Iowa State losing.
Starting point is 00:26:57 Apparently they made the Elite 8 in 2000. So far as they've been in the last 25 years. Don't remember it. I don't remember it either, actually. I don't remember who was on that team either. Who's next? DB. DB. Go ahead, DB.
Starting point is 00:27:13 Okay, I've been a fan of UK listening and watching since Claude Sullivan did the radio show. Wow. And my question is, since Cal has gone down to Arkansas, does he need a body gone? down there. There's some fellow that follows his butt from start to finish.
Starting point is 00:27:35 Do you know who I'm talking about? Yeah, I'm not sure. Who are you talking about? Oh, wait a minute. Well, he's a tall guy and slicks his hair straight back. And when the game's over,
Starting point is 00:27:47 he's right on Calipari. Walking him off the floor. I don't know who that is. It might be an assistant coach, but you think he's actually guarding him when he goes off the floor? Yes.
Starting point is 00:28:02 He's not an assistant coach because you don't see him during the game except setting way back. Yeah, he may. Yeah, I don't know. He may have one. I mean, I could see why, at least in those public settings, that that would be the case. Nice to hear from you, sir.
Starting point is 00:28:18 What's the first game you listened to? What year? Oh, gosh, I couldn't tell you because I used to take my radio back and lay on the bed when I was a kid. kid and listen to Claude Sullivan. Oh, yeah, it was, yeah, I'm from Mowensboro, by the way. You're my guy. I've got to go to break, but I appreciate it. Call back sometime in the summer.
Starting point is 00:28:39 We can chat. We'll take a break. Be right back. KSR. T.J. Smith, personal injury attorney. Call T.J. He'll make them pay. Now, more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage.
Starting point is 00:28:52 Here's Matt Jones. So I got a text on the text machine that I feel like is really for the three of you all. One person writes, Matt, a meteor hit Cleveland today. Did you know that? And are the guys worried? Did a meteor hit Cleveland today? I've not seen that on the news, but I don't know. It didn't?
Starting point is 00:29:12 I haven't heard it. It may have. Well, here, let's do a quick. I guess Middlesbril is no longer a crater city. A suspected meteor. A suspected meteor. Loud boom reported across northeast Ohio. Meteor could be the cause of the boom.
Starting point is 00:29:32 Could be. We don't know. Not confirmed. NASA confirms meteor caused loud boom across northeast Ohio. There you go. Pretty good source. I'll trust that one. So apparently a meteor hit just outside of Cleveland that caused shakes all through northeast Ohio
Starting point is 00:29:53 and as far east as Pennsylvania. Oh, and they have a picture of it. nothing damaged well i think it hit ground that was like empty see that's why i'm not worried about it like earth is so big yeah you could hit and then it doesn't even touch anything so what are we worried about unless it's like you know
Starting point is 00:30:12 so what percentage okay so what percentage of the world is ocean it's a huge it's like what is it three fours yeah something like that do we know that feels like something you would know is it 80 there's a there's a there's a there's a 70 something so right out of three fours There's a number. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:30:28 So let's just say it's three-fourths. So that means you got a three-and-four chance of Shannon of it hitting nothing. Now, it could cause like a tsunami, but let's just act like that's not happening. Okay. Yeah. Then how much of the world is ground that is uninhabited? It's a lot. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:30:45 Right? Like the polls for the most part, you know, I mean, even in America, think about all when we drive to California, all the blank space everywhere. Right. So is there any, like, what percentage of the ground of the earth that is not water has no people in it? It's probably a lot. I have no, I've just be guessing. So you're saying you're not worried because even if it comes, maybe what, a one in ten chance anybody lives there? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:31:18 Let's see. One and five. Quick Google search has approximately 50 to 57% of Earth's land service is considered uninhabited. Okay, so 75% of is water. And then of the 25% that's not, half is uninhabited. So it's basically 12.5% of America has people on it. So it's a one in eight chance that if a meteor comes, it would hit where people are. And so you're saying, Shannon, that's not enough for you to work.
Starting point is 00:31:51 Yeah. Now, if that hit like New York City, that would be disastrous. It would be awful. I think there are movies about that. Right. But the odds are still in our favor that if a meteor is going to hit Earth, it's going to do what it did today in Cleveland and go into the end. But is it worry you at all that it hit Ohio, Drew,
Starting point is 00:32:06 and it didn't seem like anybody tried to stop it. I would have like a warning. Maybe a text alert. Hey, look up. Anything like that. I wouldn't live in fear with it because I just feel like if I got, if I'm the guy that got hit by the meteor, man, it was just my time to go.
Starting point is 00:32:25 You would never seen it coming anyway. Not much I can say about that. You wouldn't have so quick. You wouldn't know what hit you. Yeah, it's true. I mean, what are you going to do? There's nothing you can do. Oh, no.
Starting point is 00:32:33 I'm dead. But do we have a way of shooting them down? I would have thought, I would have thought honestly if they had a meteor headed towards Cleveland, they would have shot it down. But I guess we don't do that. If you shoot it down, it breaks up into pieces and then you might be covering more land. So you might just be like Cleveland? Sorry about you.
Starting point is 00:32:51 Sorry about your luck, Cleveland. Your teams aren't good anyways. Here it comes. Yeah, they can probably make a path of the trajectory of it and see it's going to land over here in the mountains. It's okay. We don't want to bust this one up and maybe make more damage. I just hope it made a big crater and then they could build another city, right? They're not going to be able to see.
Starting point is 00:33:08 Middlesbrough is the only place with the crater. We are crater city. We're not giving that up to a small town outside of Cleveland. But, well, I hope every... When you step your meteor game up, though, you're being outdone by Cleveland right now. Well, an uninhabited part of... of Cleveland. Who's next?
Starting point is 00:33:25 Matt. Matt, go ahead, Matt. Hey, guys. Good morning or good afternoon. Last week you talked about how you meander through the topics, how it's a sports show about everything. Yes. Or nothing.
Starting point is 00:33:44 So maybe you guys are like the Seinfeld, but from the perspective of George's standing. Well, I don't know about it. Yeah, no, it is. I had a meeting Monday. with one of the top executive is ESPN. And he said, how would you
Starting point is 00:34:02 describe what you do in Lexington? And I said it's like a show for Kentucky fans, but about whatever I think Kentucky fans would be interested in about the world. And he said, so it's kind of about nothing. And I said,
Starting point is 00:34:18 yes, that's kind of true. So I agree with that. So I think but from the perspective of George Cassanza, because of the bull riding and the new hand modeling stuff you're doing. That's true. I do have quite a hand model. I think that comes out.
Starting point is 00:34:35 Apparently that comes out at noon. But I appreciate it. Who's next? Adam. Yeah, if we were all the characters from Seinfeld, who would be who? I'm George Costanza. I'll go ahead and take that one. Oh, my God.
Starting point is 00:34:50 There's no doubt. You're Jerry. Drew is the tall guy. Drew is Elaine. And then Shannon. Shannon's Elaine and Drew's Kramer. Oh, you're giving Shannon a way. Why a woman?
Starting point is 00:35:05 I'll be Elaine. I think Drew's more Elaine. I think Shannon's more Kramer. And then Billy's Newman. Billy's Newman. Billy's a perfect Newman. Who's next? Adam.
Starting point is 00:35:19 Adam. Go ahead, Adam. Hey, what's up, Gus? I'm about to come out you with a lot of facts. First, the meteor said they come through the atmosphere. all the time. That's what causes the sonic boom. I mean, as far as we know, a meteor didn't actually hit the ground. It burns up and causes the sonic boom.
Starting point is 00:35:39 Oh, so they're not, so it didn't hit the ground? I mean, from everything I've seen, no. I mean, and that happens all the time. When you see a shooting star or whatnot, that's a meteor coming through that's burning up in the atmosphere. You know, sometimes if it's a larger one, it does cause a sonic boom. But, yeah, as far as, you know, Santa Clara and Kentucky,
Starting point is 00:35:59 I've got two things. One that is in favor and one that that is not. Kentucky, there's only 16 teams in front of them that are in top 40 of both offense and defense. So, I mean, that would suggest that we should be able to make a run to the sweet 16. But as far as, you know, us shooting the same three-point percentage of them that you've been saying, you know, if we go four for 10, that's 40%, and they go 10 for 30, 30%. They've still had 18 more points than us at the three point line. No, that's a fair point. What is there?
Starting point is 00:36:35 No, that's a completely fair point. What is the total? Do you know what the comparison is total number of threes for both teams made this year? I would assume they probably have more. I don't know what Kentucky is, but, you know, I think I've heard Tom Leitz say that they've hit almost 300, three-pointers this year, which I know Kentucky is nowhere near that. Okay. The volume matters.
Starting point is 00:36:57 You are exactly right. I think that is a completely fair point, and I can't find the total numbers. No, that's completely legitimate. Appreciate the call. No, that completely fair point. That's worth noting. Who's up next? Let's go to Clay. Clay, go ahead, Clay. Hey, man, I'm just tired of all the Kentucky fans
Starting point is 00:37:28 and all this talk about how we're scared of this team we're playing. I mean, this is ridiculous. Who did we want to get paired? Did the Kentucky fans, we want to get paired up with the blind and deaf team? I don't know who they wanted. I mean, our other options, we couldn't play Missouri and Texas A&M because they're 10 seats, and we're in the same conference. So our only other option, if you look at the 10 seats, was Central Florida, and I can tell
Starting point is 00:37:52 you, I would be legitimately scared of Central Florida. They are athletically better than us. So I'm with you. If you look at the options of who we had to play, this was the best one. Listen, I just, it's just ridiculous. I mean, they think, I mean, we're seventh seed. What do we expect to get? You know what Stein said?
Starting point is 00:38:11 If you're scared, you go to church. So, you know, bring them on and bring on, I'm not scared of a cyclone either. I'm not scared of them either. Bring them on, Iowa State. We want them. Yeah, I appreciate the call. The other option, I mean, there was only one other option, Ryan. we could play central Florida than Yukon or Santa Clara than Iowa State.
Starting point is 00:38:33 So my question for you is would you rather play Santa Clara in Iowa State or Central Florida and Yukon? Before the tournament, you'd ask me to pick one of those 10 seeds, I'm picking Santa Clara. If you asked me to pick one of the two seeds, I'm picking Iowa State. I mean, it could have been going to get you asked me what location? I'm picking St. Louis. That's true. We also probably got the best location. Drew, I know you were a little more bearish on this.
Starting point is 00:38:55 this game with Iowa State. Would you rather have gotten Central Florida and Yukon? I have Yukon in my title game, so no. So no. In my bracket, I have them winning that region. You know, we don't get the, we don't get the, you know, the value of getting to pick our opponent because we weren't good enough this year. Right.
Starting point is 00:39:17 So of our, of our possibilities, this was my, if you, when I was thinking about the bracket and I was looking at it, I thought. thought, our best option is Santa Clara or St. Mary's, and the two-seat I would want to play the most is Iowa State or Purdue. Well, we didn't get Purdue, but we did get Santa Clara and we did get Iowa State. So I'm generally happy with it. Stop overpaying for sunglasses. If you're tired of buying expensive sunglasses, only to lose or break them, shady rays. Independent American-owned company started right here in Kentucky.

Go to shady rays or shady rays.com. What did you just send me, Drew, about the meteor there? It's a video. Who, I want to see the video. And it goes up in flames, like our caller who oddly brought facts to the show.
Starting point is 00:40:12 Calm down, sir. It kind of looks like how he described. Goes into the atmosphere and it kind of turns into flames and looks like it might not even make it to the surface. That is cool. There ain't nothing to worry about it. Sorry, this is radio and I can't paint that picture better. Callers with facts.
Starting point is 00:40:27 What is that about? Oh, the wrong show. Can't have more facts than the hosts. That is a very cool video, by the way, of watching it burn up. It's on National Weather Service Pittsburgh. So we'll take a break. Be right back. KSR.

Starting point is 00:41:47 Sometimes when we're in the pursuit of the thing, we get so wrapped up in the chase. that we don't realize that we are in possession of the thing. And we're still chasing it. And we don't know when we've done enough. Because people scoreboard watch. Life becomes about wins and losses. Steve Burns, Dustin Ross, because you find it important to be a good person while you hear on earth?

I want you to just really be a good person. Join me, Kear Gaines, is we have real conversations about healing, growth, fatherhood, pressure, and purpose on my new podcast, Learn the Hardway.

Starting point is 00:42:52 of Turkey. I'm Michelle McPhee, and this is one of the most shocking criminal conspiracies I've ever come across. When Jacob met Levin this went to a billion dollar fraud. Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal but encouraged. It's the enhanced games.
Starting point is 00:43:38 Some call it grotesque. Others say it's unleashing human potential. Either way, the podcast's Superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year. Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds. I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth. Listen to Superhuman on the I-Hard radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. This actually specifically applies.
Starting point is 00:44:07 That's right. Cleveland did rock today. It did. So a meteor that hits the ground becomes a meteorite. Did you know that? Didn't know that. Drew, did you know that? I did not.
Starting point is 00:44:22 So we learned something. According, now this may or may not be correct. So these are text machine facts, Ryan, and those might be correct or they might not, right? One person writes, a meteor hit a house in Louisville in the 1970s. Do we believe that's true? We could probably do a little Google work and see if that's true or not. I feel like there would be like a way to track that if that were true. Pretty big story if it's true.
Starting point is 00:44:48 Maybe somebody in Louisville, we've got people listening who lived in Louisville in the 70s. I feel like they would know. I found confirmation. What? 1977. From W.A. From W.HAS in 1977, a three-pound
Starting point is 00:45:02 meteorite hit Louisville. I'm looking for a specific spot. Not seeing one. But there is a news story confirming it happened. Huh. Well, that would be interesting. I would guess if it did, it would be out on Dixie Highway. It's played home Dixie Highway.
Starting point is 00:45:20 Or Preston. I could see it be in either one of those places. Yeah. person writes, Matt, in recent human history, there's only one reported case of a meteor hitting a human being. Well, that guy's unlucky. You talk. Yeah, really.
Starting point is 00:45:35 I mean, my gosh. That's your time to go. That is one of those that you just say, you know what? It was my time. Remember that show a thousand ways to die? I bet meteor right to the head wasn't one of them. I feel bad for that person. I don't even know who it was.
Starting point is 00:45:53 I found a story on it. Okay, what is it? I'm liking this. This is bad. Her name's Ann, but she was in her house. It came through the roof. She wasn't even out exposed to the... Oh, Ann.
Starting point is 00:46:04 Where was this? I'm reading the Wikipedia. It has its own Wikipedia page. Oh, wait. Never mind. She lived because there's a photo of her pointing at the hole in the roof where it came through. Wow. Go, Ann.
Starting point is 00:46:17 Yeah, she's wearing a nice little outfit, got some nice wallpaper, and she's pointing up at the hole in her roof. So where is it? That was in Alabama. So Ann's just sitting in Alabama. Watching the Ricky Lake show. And a meteor comes through the roof. It was in 1954, so I doubt she was watching Ricky Lake. But it's a big holder roof.
Starting point is 00:46:38 She just took it. Yeah, so there's a picture of her holding it too. No, she's not holding it. She has her own Wikipedia page. Anne Elizabeth Fowler Hodges. I need to know how she actually died. It was like the calming cold that took her down that a meteorite couldn't get it.
Starting point is 00:46:53 Kidney failure. It's also on her page. Oh, wow. 18 years later. She's holding the meteor. Got a nice little outfit on at home. Looks like somebody would like to dress up in her house. Wow.
Starting point is 00:47:06 It bounced off a radio and hit her in the thigh. I'm reading all this on the fly. What a day. At 2 p.m. local time. How big is it? She was napping on her couch and at 2 p.m. a meteorite hit her radio and then her thigh. How big is it?
Starting point is 00:47:22 Like baseball size? Life comes out of you fast. How big some radio? It's split into three fragments. One of them hit her. They're through her roof. So there you go. It can happen, even if you're just at home napping on your couch.
Starting point is 00:47:36 But you think if it comes through the atmosphere and it catches on fire. I'm going to tweet the picture of Anne holding her meteor because she looks very unhappy that it put a hole in her room. Who's got a better story than her? I mean, you know, from Alabama. Wow. I'd have had her on the radio at 1950. I bet Fimbom had her. Hey, Paul, a meteorite hit my house.
Starting point is 00:47:59 All right, I just tweeted the photo. Go check out. Oh, I got to see you in. Who's next? Schuyler. Schuyler. Schuyler. Hey, guys.
Starting point is 00:48:09 I got a couple comments, but one, I've never questioned the way I pronounce Meteor listening to Matt say media. How do you say it, Matt? I say meteor. I say meteor. I say meteor. Meteor. What is it?
Starting point is 00:48:23 Is it not meteor? I mean, maybe a more Kentucky way to say it is meteor, but I don't know. Meteorite. Meteorite. Maybe I put some emphasis on the ore, but I got you. Yeah, you're good. I appreciate it. My comment about why the fan base is scared is because speed of the leader, speed of the team.
Starting point is 00:48:46 I feel like I watched the Rick Patino clip from St. John's last year where he is saying, where is your fight, where is your toughness, and he has set a culture of not being scared of anybody. And unfortunately, Mark Pope has set a culture of being a little, he's hiding, I mean, hiding right now. And I think the fan base needs a little toughness and needs a little grit. So stay safe from the meteors, and I'll talk to you soon. Now I'm going to be thinking about it.
Starting point is 00:49:15 He's saying, I say it, Ryan, like TV and Tennessee and Halloween. Yes. Meteor. Yeah. Well, you say meteorite. You've been saying that the way I think you're supposed to say it. So you all say meteor. Meteor.
Starting point is 00:49:26 Yeah. And I say meteoror. Ann's radio is in the American Museum of Natural History. I just keep learning more details about Ann. Really? Her radio made the American Museum of Natural History. Yeah. She suffered from social anxiety after it happened.
Starting point is 00:49:41 I would understand why. Yeah. No kidding. You just said, I would have social anxiety too. Skin cancer isn't rare. Starting point is 00:50:32 First four. Let's go quickly. Drew, Maryland, Baltimore County versus Howard. Who you got? I'm going with the fighting Howard Bison? Stearns. I think Bisons. All right.
Starting point is 00:50:45 Go, Howard. What do you got, Ryan? I'm going how. I like Howard. Howard. Maryland, Baltimore County. They beat Virginia. They can certainly beat a guy named Howard.
Starting point is 00:50:55 Texas versus NC State. A little Will Wade versus whoever the Texas coach. Miller, Sean Miller. Who you got? Texas. I'm going to take NC State. Drew. I have Texas, but whoever wins this wins another game in the big dance.
