Welcome to Hour 2 of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage.
Now here's Matt Jones.
Welcome back. Hour number two, Kentucky Sports Radio, 859-2-80-20.
27. Great suggestions on the text machine, 772-745-254. I have another thing I need suggestions for.
Tomorrow's interrupted by Matt Jones. We had a couple people request and I like it. It's going to be
Matt and Shannon give marriage advice. Oh, we can help you out. Yes. If you need advice,
we're here. Matt relationship advice. It can be marriage advice, etc. So I'll remind everyone
to get at the end of the show. After noon, you can write the text machine with questions.
and tomorrow Shannon and I are going to start our relationship advice.
We're going to do an episode.
Mario's already laughing.
We're going to break it down like Mike Francesa.
That's exactly right.
We're going to be as good as Mike Princess on college basketball.
Giving relationship advice, I think that's going to be something people like.
I think people will tune in and listen from two 40-year-olds that have never been married.
I think that'll serve everybody well.
I appreciate you thinking we're 40.
That's very nice.
I watched a little bit
an episode on the plane
of that age of attraction show
The premise of the show I just don't buy
Which is, you know, these people are shocked
At their ages
They all look their ages
How can he be shocked then?
I caught about 20 minutes of it
That was my takeaway too
There's one guy on there that's 60
That does not look 60
He looks like he might be 45
But
They look their ages
So they'll go
I'm 43
and the woman will be like
what
he looks 43
maybe he looks 41
and then the woman will be like
I'm 22
what
I thought you were 30
no
I mean it's fairly clear
there's like
you know that guy we saw from Middlesbrill it was
65 he did not look his age
he looked 35
you know sometimes people say to me Matt
you look
young for your age. But they don't mean I look 30. They mean I look 41. Yeah. Right.
So these people, though, look their age. Well, they look the vicinity of their age.
They look good for their age. They're not a shock that they were the older people or the younger
people on the beach. But like there's a cup on there. The guy's like 38 and the woman's 22.
And the guy like looks at this woman. First of all, I don't think you should look at a woman and go,
who's 22 and go, I thought you were 31. It's not a compliment. That's not a compliment.
They don't want to hear that. No, no woman wants to hear that.
But I look at it and I'm like, she's clearly 22.
And then there's a guy on there that's 51 and the woman's like 28.
And she seems just baffled.
I'm like, the dude has gray hair.
How old did she think he was?
What did you, did you think he was?
How old did you think he was?
He was 24 and lived a hard life.
I mean, if the show is just supposed to be like people with age gaps can have a relationship, okay, sure.
But like, what is this shocked how old these people?
people are. Are there any young guys with older women? Yes, probably the nicest couple is one.
The woman's like 54 and the guy's like 29. And they actually seem oddly compatible.
Uh-huh. And the woman is 54. Maybe she looks 47. But was he shocked and found that she was
he acted like, I thought we were the same age. What? What? Stop. It's like, do you not see your life
alert.
She's running out of
necklace.
Stop.
Like,
just say you,
like,
it's cool.
It's fine.
You all like each other,
but I just,
the surprise is a little,
you know.
Hollywood.
All right.
All right.
Starting right now.
That's right.
At this very moment.
It is.
For those of you that are in town
for the Sweet 16,
go to KS Bar.
We're going to be there all week.
Obviously,
the games are going on.
The NCAA game starting tomorrow.
We'll talk more about that in a minute.
But let's talk just a second about Sweet 16.
I have my,
I have my player.
Did you all see my player last night?
Yeah, I know you're talking about.
How has no one told me about this guy all year?
This is a human being that existed in this state of Kentucky that's really good at basketball
and that has the wreck goggles and carries a WWE belt and is from the mountains and nobody bothered to tell me about him.
Thank goodness they made the Sweet 16 so we know about him.
How did I not know about Tuck Johnson?
I thought they made him just for you.
I mean, Tuck Johnson was literally.
was literally created in a lab to be someone I would like.
He's got, so I tweeted out his picture,
Tuck Johnson for president.
He's got a mullet.
Yep.
He's got rec specs and they're black.
Like he's not trying to be,
they're not trying to be clear.
These are as dark as they could be.
But are those like regular glasses?
They're not like wrap around band goggles.
What would you call them?
I think they're just glasses.
Right.
Yeah, that's what I'm saying.
I think he's just wearing black glasses.
Yeah.
Kurt Rambus.
He's Kurt Rambus.
Kurt Rambus.
Look at mustache.
A mustache, a mullet, black glasses from Hazard, big, doesn't seem like, you know, regular shape.
And after every game, he carries a WWE belt.
What's not to love about all those things?
How did no one tell me about this guy?
I almost don't want to go to St. Louis,
and I almost want to tomorrow morning do the show from Tuck's place.
Well, I want to break your heart.
He's at KS. Bar right now.
No, he's not.
Yes, he is.
They came to have lunch expecting to meet you today.
Well, did you tell him I wasn't going to be there?
Yeah.
Okay.
But they want to go ahead and have lunch anyway.
But they came early for lunch.
You're not, you're telling me Tuck is at KS Bar right now.
Right now.
The hazard team is there right now.
How are you just not telling me this?
You just got home last night.
I have a phone.
Yeah, I told him, I said, unfortunately, we're not going to be there.
But they wanted to go ahead and come for lunch, but Tuck was going to meet you.
So Tuck is as we speak.
Eating, come on.
Well, first of all, Tuck, of course, blame Rine Lemon.
But when?
Who do they play tomorrow?
It doesn't even matter to me who they play.
Butler, well, that's Larry's school.
That's right.
This is your tough call for you.
I love you, Larry, but I'm taking Tuck.
We're all hazard.
If Larry's still taught.
at Butler, I would take Butler, but that was 50 years ago.
I'm going with Tuck.
You have to. He's a new superstar. He's our Larry
nerd, our Cream Abdul-Jabbar.
No, he's awesome.
He's Tuck. And his name's Tuck, Shannon.
Yeah, not Tuck-R, he's just Tuck.
I thought that dude from Harlan
was maybe the best player that I could.
Remember? With all the hair? With all the hair.
Who, but no.
It's your new favorite? I'm all Tuck, because he's
also tall. Yeah.
So is he good? Apparently
he's pretty good. What year is he?
I don't know that. Well,
hopefully he's just a freshman and he's just now a
story. That guy's a 32 year old freshman. That guy should be on age of
attraction because they might guess
he's 40 and if he were to say
he's 18, they'd go, what?
Mortgage and three kids. Yes, he
just looked like he. I mean,
somebody wrote on the,
under his picture,
if you told
AI, create a hazard basketball player. Is that not what they would create?
That's what it would spit out. That's what would come out. Yep.
I'm stunned. He wasn't already on your radar. I'd not heard anything until this weird.
You have to promise me something because you're not going to be on the show tomorrow.
Okay. Will you go represent us and watch a tuck tomorrow at 11 o'clock? I can do that.
I'll tell you what. Take your phone. Well, I would plan on it. I usually carry it with me.
I would you go ahead and take your phone with you tomorrow. Okay. Don't leave it at home. I'll wear some clothes.
I know your wife's close to having a baby.
You might want to stay in communication tomorrow.
I'll brush my teeth, the whole routine.
It's a daily thing I do.
Go ahead and brush your teeth.
You check in.
We'll check in with you during the show.
I was already planning to go.
See how Tuck does.
Yeah.
Tuck versus Butler.
They may be listening right now.
I hope they are.
Guys, kill it.
14th Region.
Yes.
14th Region, I'm for you.
And enjoy KS. Bard.
If I was there, it'd be on me, but I'm not.
So, um,
you know what if you beat butler
i'll take care of your next meal okay bring them back
if you beat butler uh-huh i don't just give it to anybody yeah we we don't pay for
losers yeah you get a win right so let's quickly go through some pick these games
coving and catholic saint ex playing right now who you got
saint ex been my pick all year long but this is going to be a great game cutcass
aren't these two like the best teams yeah yeah and warren central's right behind them they
playing them in the next round tough draw this year yeah so who you got i'm gonna go
Covecath. This is game of the tournament maybe. Covecath.
St. X. Shannon?
St. X. Warren Central, North Laurel. Got to pick Warren Central
even though 13th region. Yeah, Warren Central's got an unselled on their team.
Wes Unseld's like nephew.
Who? What? He's only his nephew. West Unsell's old.
Yeah. You mean great nephew?
Probably great nephew. Okay. Yeah.
Less West Unseld's brother, age of attraction. Like, that's got to be his great nephew.
Just that name. All right. I'll take North Laurel in the
upset. Oh, really? The spread and the
I got the lines yesterday. It was like seven
and a half. It wasn't that much. Shannon?
I'm going with Wes
Unsold's nephew. Warren Central. Taylor County,
Grayson County. Don't know much
about much of them, but Grayson County was a
surprise winner of the third region, so I'm going with them.
My grandma lived in Taylor County. Taylor County. Where
you got? I'll go Grayson County. Shannon?
Taylor County. Danville Christian Great
Crossing. This one, the spread was like 16
and a half. Danville
Christians won the 12th region like about three years
in a row or something. They've got those big guys, those African
that are playing for them. I got great crossing.
Great crossing. Okay, I'm going to go Damo Christian Academy.
Well, we'll see.
They're not great.
Butler Hazard. Tuck. Tuck. Tuck it in. Tuck it in.
North Oldham, Liden, Lyon County.
Oh, Lyon County. Got to go with my region.
North Oldham has Rijon Rondo's son.
Lyon County has... The entire county.
That's exactly right. Yeah, they only get the North part.
That's right. Nolan Kaufman. I'm taking Lyon County.
Perry back again. North Oldham.
Rogers Clark, Johnson Central.
Johnson Central's coming to KS Bar, I think,
either tonight or tomorrow.
I got Johnson Central.
Yep.
Johnson Central.
Thank you to Eastern Kentucky for a cabote by the bar.
And Marshall County, Boyd County.
What is that bus rides?
Can you imagine Marshall County
Boyd County? That is...
Boyd County closer to Canada than it is to Marshall County.
I would bet you, I mean,
we are closer to St. Louis, right, than Marshall County is to
Boyd County? Probably. That's a hall.
I would think so. Who you got?
Marshall County, Shannon's got a kid named Langy.
Dan Langy's kid.
Dan Langy's kid plays from Marshall County.
You've won me over.
Marshall County.
Yep.
I was going to take Marshalls.
Yeah.
That stat, did they play last year?
I feel like we talked about that Canada stat last year.
I think it did.
I think it came up in the football playoffs.
Maybe that's what it was.
It's a five and a half hour drive.
Yeah.
Well, good luck to tuck.
Tuck.
And make it happen, my friend.
859-280-2287 let's talk about for a second the recruit stuff so there Christian Collins is deciding today
this is one of those top five players that at one point we were supposed to have led for yeah
he's down to Kentucky Louisville and USC any chance he picks us or is it like zero I don't want to say
zero but usually there's a little bit of a buzz let's just you know keep eyes on this it just
He's kind of silent around him.
At least on the Kentucky.
If I were picking, I'd say USC, but that's a guess.
Kentucky has not been connected with him in months.
I'm surprised even listening.
Well, they've talked to him.
Like Drew said, there's no buzz.
Like there's no connection or people are predicting he might go there.
I'm surprised he's still in the, we're still in their top three.
So he's not picking Kentucky.
That means I think he's coming.
There we go.
Yeah, true.
The fact that you're saying definitively he's not picking Kentucky.
Yeah.
Why are you so definitive?
There's been no connection for months with Kentucky and him.
Are you just saying like you haven't seen it in the media or you know we haven't talked to them?
Oh no.
They may have still try to talk to him, but like Ryan hadn't been there to hear.
Oh, Ryan wasn't there.
Yes.
Yeah, I wasn't around.
Okay, well, if you weren't there.
Count them out.
Then it must not have happened.
Here we go.
All right. Shannon, what do you think?
Any chance?
Well, Ryan's the guy that's got all the scoop, right?
And he's saying that he hasn't even had contact with Kentucky.
so.
Well, he says he doesn't know.
But no, Ryan knows more than what he wants to tell us on this show.
You don't know.
Yeah, I do.
It is weird.
Yesterday, like only three guys were coming back.
You went from four to three.
There's a reason you said that you know something.
I'm worried about which one you know is not coming.
I have to say.
We haven't gotten to talk about it, but I'm a little worried.
He just seemed very definitive with that.
Because you were very definitive about the three.
Are you concluding Hawthorne in your three?
Yeah.
Oh, no.
I was thinking, well, maybe he forgot about Hawthorne.
So only two of the taxally playing.
Are you including low?
Because he said at the SEC he's planning to.
What's he going to say?
The season is still going on.
So you're not including him.
All right, if we keep going, we're going to know who he's including.
So we'll just let it go.
You can't ask a player during the season if they're coming back.
I agree with that.
There's nothing.
What are they going to say?
No, I'm out of here.
Yeah.
Did you see that one Auburn guy?
Did you see that story?
No show.
So Auburn's playing in the
NIT.
They had their first practice for the NIT.
One of the guys just didn't come.
Didn't tell his coaches, nothing.
One of their main players?
The guy that went for 25 against us.
Just didn't come.
Didn't tell the coaches?
Didn't even tell the coaches.
He's just like,
Astila vista.
He showed up on another bench
Alabama probably signed him to play the tournament.
But how do you not at least call the coach?
That's a bad look for that kid.
I wouldn't want that kid on my team next year
if I was like another coach.
Stephen Pearl year.
one just going swimmingly.
It seemed to go swimmingly.
It's also a bad look for the coach.
Yeah.
Just doesn't show up.
Wow.
By the way, the kid from, what is it, the kid that plays for Liberty that's from, where's
he from?
Elizabeth Town.
Elizabeth Town, he lit it up last night.
They won.
They got an upset win.
They're in the NIT.
He'll get bumped up somewhere.
People should watch him.
The NIT's going on.
If Liberty plays, that's that kid from Kentucky, you should turn them on because he's a
guy.
I know a lot of people in the state won.
I don't know what the staff thinks.
Hey, spring is sprung and that may be.

Because people scoreboard watch.
Life becomes about wins and losses.

Who is this?
Elvis.
Oh, is wait a minute.
Hang on.
Elvis.
Elvis.
Songs called Come along.
All right.
Somebody wrote me and said, let me make sure before I say this is true.
Well, of course, the internet stops working as soon as I try to look at this.
All right.
This is not involving Kentucky.
So everybody freak out.
But a little piece of news that would be big.
Okay.
But I don't, it's not about Kentucky.
Oh, we're in this room.
The internet doesn't work very well in here.
Or at least mine doesn't.
All right.
8-5-9-280-2-87.
How do I get this off the screen, Shannon, so I can see the callers?
I don't know what you're looking at.
I don't either.
Yeah, I'll tell you who's next.
Well, okay.
But I'm worried you're going to put the wrong person.
You don't want Bob and Jamestown.
We get it.
I didn't say that.
That's you saying that.
All right, well, I can't see the call.
So go ahead.
Clinton.
Yeah.
Yes, sir.
First time caller.
Who are?
First time listening?
Yes.
And you call in the very first time you've ever listened.
your calling? Well, I've been listening for maybe about a week.
I put it that way. Okay, all right, good deal. Go ahead. Well, thanks for joining us.
Well, I have to admit, like, I've lived in Kentucky all my life, but I'm not really a big
fan of college sports. Yeah, that's okay. But my question is for Matt, like, how, if you're so,
like, the stats and the skills and everything that you know so much, why are you not, like,
coaching for some of these teams.
I could tell as soon as he started that there was like a
passive aggressiveness to him. You know, I could.
I could tell like from the very beginning, you know,
I have a sense about these things.
But since he said he was new, I was trying to kind of welcome him.
But I could tell, Shannon, from the first moment,
there was a passive aggressiveness to him.
It just came out of his voice and the way he was like,
I'm going to be nonchalant, but then I'm really going to show him when I say that.
It's not about that.
No, I'm just thinking. I'm not a coach. I'm not a coach, but I have a job.
Let me ask you a question.
Right.
Virtually, when you watch TV and you watch or listen to radio, do you think those people you watch
were all great at the games or great at coaching?
No.
No, I mean, they have to work up to that status, of course.
No, but they don't coach.
That's not my job.
My job is to be a radio hub.
and entertained. So no, do I think I can coach better than Mark Pope? Of course not. Do I think I can
coach better than any coach? No. But I also think my job is to critique. If we, if we, if, if people who
haven't coached can't critique, there'll be no shows. We will all sit in silence and stare at each other.
Yeah. Okay. I get that. So, so that's my answer to question. No, I cannot coach better than these guys.
but I can evaluate as good as, you know, anybody else that has a microphone in YAPs.
And my other last little question is, why do they punish the coaches if teams don't do well?
Aren't they shouldn't you, because you don't punish the teachers if students don't learn.
So why not?
If you're a tear, if you have no teacher, there are teachers, I mean, sometimes tenure keeps that from happening,
but there are teachers that can lose their job if they don't teach.
well if their students don't do well.
I mean, that happened. Every job you can
lose if the performance
you're supposed to do doesn't go well.
Right, but I mean, why not
affect, well, how does that not affect the players?
Like the players are the ones who have to actually get out there.
But whose job it is it, do you think, to get the players?
Well, it's the coaches and all the
staff and behind them. Exactly. And that's why
you switch coaches. If you don't, if you don't
get the right players or you don't coach them
well, you are replaced.
Okay. I didn't see it from that point of view, but it makes the perfect sense.
All right. Well, I appreciate the call. I hope you continue to enjoy sports and learn about them.
That call really confused me.
You think he was being serious?
I mean, there was some sincerity in his question.
I actually think, oddly, he was passive-aggressive, but I actually do think there was sincerity.
He did start by saying, I don't watch college sports.
Yeah.
Maybe that was a legit question.
Because the difference between college and pro sports is,
in pro sports, you don't always get to pick your players, Drew.
Or as in college sports, you do.
Absolutely.
And I think the caller might actually be genuine in asking these questions.
You know how far as some of these stations reach?
Maybe they were just.
I don't think he was genuine in saying, why don't you be a coach?
Yeah, maybe not.
But I think the second question could have been genuine.
I thought for sure he was going to end up being a Louisville fan or an Arkansas fan,
but then he got, like, sincere about things.
I wish my phone would work.
I need to see what about this rumor about Mikhail Brown.
Sorry.
All right.
I act like I didn't say it.
I didn't hear it.
Who's next?
Mark.
Mark.
Mark.
What on that?
What's going on?
Hey,
nothing much.
Hey,
really,
real quick,
I know you're just talking about Christian Collins.
Are you familiar with his story?
Okay,
people are saying McKell Brown is out.
It's not playing for you about.
I see it on WDRB right now.
So McKell Brown's not playing?
Says he will miss the start.
the opening game and maybe the second round game
if they make it that far.
He's going to be,
then he ain't playing in the NCAA tournament.
If he's not playing,
if he's not playing, they ain't playing more than one or two games.
That's 20 minutes ago on WDOB.
No.
Rob Christian Collins.
Are you familiar with his story?
Not really, no.
I mean, I know Kentucky's recruited him,
but I don't know really a lot about him,
except he's good.
He's an impressive.
I mean, he's a really impressive young man.
Yesterday, he was on ESPN,
and he actually is playing with cystic fibrosis.
I did know that.
I did hear that, yes.
Yeah.
And the fact is he was telling the story that,
I guess he's now, he's like six-nives wing, you know, really athletic wing.
But a few years ago, like in ninth grade, he was six-five, and he couldn't dunk,
and he was getting a lot of bullying, online bullying as well as personal bullying.
And, you know, the kid just hunker down and made himself better, it made himself better.
Now he's the top five recruit.
And that's the kind of kid you want to cheer for.
No, that's true.
Very well.
I've heard of cystic fibrosis.
What is it?
I know what is the...
It's like, it's a buildup of mucus in your lungs.
It basically makes it tough to breathe.
Okay.
Which almost chokes you out.
So the fact doesn't matter to think that this kid is playing a sport where you're,
where you need to breathe a lot, you know, the fact that he deals with that is
unbelievable.
Yeah, that's awesome.
Now, sure, he probably doesn't have the most serious case of it, but he has cystic fibrosis.
He'll be the first person ever playing the NBA that they know of them.
That is a great story. I got to go to a break, but very cool.
Well, I hope we get him. Now I want him even more.
We'll take a break. Be right back.

Now, more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage.
Here's Matt Jones.
Welcome back, Techie Sports Radio.
One person writes on the text machine, 772-752524.
Ryan seems to know things about things that nobody else does.
Has he heard anything about the U.S. Iran peace talks?
That's a good question. Do you think Ryan has inside info on that, Drew?
Well, whatever the, was it mixed miss news? Did they have there been any?
Yeah, what's been the update on that?
They're still looking for Nancy Guthrie. They haven't found her yet.
They don't get into Iran a lot on that.
Well, they kind of tiptoe around it. They don't want to reveal all their sources.
That's kind of why I am. I don't want to really reveal things.
And they don't know who's, like they don't know if the, who's alive there, right?
Yeah. Yeah, we need to keep that on the down low.
You know.
Yeah.
But you're not going to tell me.
I'm not going to say it on the open airwaves.
I understand.
I got to protect everybody's privacy.
In America.
My sources.
I understand.
One person writes, Matt, I used to really like Bruce Furl.
I've actually found him unlikable during this NCAA tournament run going on TV and yapping about his son all the time.
Do you agree?
I do kind of agree.
I've actually found where I've always found him was entertaining and kind of, even if he wasn't on our team, kind of charming.
I mean, I have found this whole Auburn needs to be in.
Miami of Ohio doesn't deserve to be in.
Then, oh, wait a minute, I cheer for Miami of Ohio.
Like, I've just kind of found it a little politiciany and not likable.
Do you agree?
Yeah, and I've liked Bruce for a long time.
I mean, I'd be honest, I wanted to met Kentucky.
But here lately, like, what he did in Nashville on the sideline, that was odd.
Like, come on, dude, you're a grown man.
Yeah, I mean, yelling.
I mean, that one just kind of yelling.
He was just F-bombing, you know, BS.
I mean, he came out and he said it with his chest, Miami of Ohio shouldn't be in.
Okay, that's your opinion.
Fine.
But now I saw him with Charles Barkley last night going, you know, I'm really hoping to Miami of Ohio went.
Like, shut up.
If you want to be the dude doing that, don't, don't, what are you backing down for?
Then just the Auburn thing, we all know, just blatant nepotism.
He set up and left him where they had no other option.
I soured on him with that.
And he acknowledged that.
Yeah, almost bragged about it really.
I said, I did nepotism.
Is that, okay, well, that's not good.
So, yeah, I found him.
I found, he has gone down in my book in a lot of ways,
which is surprising because I've always kind of liked him,
at least in the last decade.
I'll tell you who's gone up in my book.
Who's that?
Jamal Ashburn's good at TV.
He is good.
He's really good.
He's good.
Like, he's not just, he's good because he went to Kentucky.
He's legitimately good.
Yeah.
He doesn't give you the hyperbole.
He just kind of keeps it real, no matter who the.
team in. I think we're going to see him a lot during the tournament.
And I think he's going to, I think he's really good. I think he is good at it.
Good for him.
We're talking about Bruce Pearl. I've always been kind of team Pearl too.
It was interesting another day. They had him sitting by Wally Zerbiak, who was the Miami
Ohio King, and there's Bruce sitting right beside him, the Paul taking for Auburn, and they
were each pulling for the other side.
I mean, that's okay, though. Like, that's good TV, I guess. But I just, I don't know.
He has gone down a little bit in my standing, which is weird. Freebird. Go ahead, Freebird.
Hey guys, good morning.
Just a little tidbit.
I didn't realize I forgot Taylor County won their region, but I was born in
Tyler County, and my mother graduated the same year as Clem, Haskins.
She went to the city school where Clem went to Taylor County.
And she's sitting there with me because she went to a doctor checkup.
Can she say hi to you guys?
She can say hi.
Hi.
I hope the doctor checkup went well.
This is Mama Bird
Well, it's good to talk to you.
You big Kentucky fan?
Yes, sir.
That's what I like to.
Go Big Blue. There you go.
Well, go to Mr. Gaddies for me.
And thank you very much, Free Bird.
Appreciate it.
Yeah, I'm not going to the next.
Have a good one, guys.
Appreciate it.
I'm not going to the next one, Shannon.
Don't even make me try.
What if I just click on it?
Scott and Louisville.
Scott, go ahead.
What if I just clicked on Bob and Jamestown?
It didn't work.
Scott and Louisville.
You're there?
Yes.
All right.
So, all right, I wanted to talk about, um, uh, hope.
So, you know, a lot of people are kind of down about the way the years went.
And of course, I am to, you know, I expect it to be a lot better than it's been.
But when I feel like most Kentucky fans, I mean, I guess I can't speak for all of them,
but I feel like what happens in March is what matters to me the most.
And last year, going to the sweet six.
team, we hadn't done that.
You know, and so to me, I felt like last year was a big improvement.
This year is not over.
And there's a lot of, you know, injured.
And I understand other teams have injuries, you know,
but this team had injuries to significant roster pieces that had they've been healthy
all year.
We're having a much different conversation about this.
Yeah.
Okay.
So first of all, your first point I agree with,
which is that fans, like March matters more,
and he can make this.
were to win both games this weekend, people will look at things differently.
The second thing about, well, if everyone was healthy, okay, I, that's plausible.
But let's be honest.
I want people to be honest.
We weren't good when those guys played.
So I agree with that.
So, I mean, like, it's not like we were killing it.
Like, it's not like the Nerlin's here, where the team was pretty good.
And then Nerlin's got hurt and they collapsed.
We have not been good.
There's really been the period where Kentucky played the best
was honestly the period right after Cam got hurt, right?
Or quatence and low weren't playing.
So it's not like we were rolling with those guys.
We had one good half with the whole team.
And that was against St. John's.
I wasn't saying that if we were healthy,
that we would have been great.
I'm just saying it definitely affected us a little bit.
Now, that is my one issue with Pope is he seems like he's not a good recruiter right now.
You know, and maybe that will end up being what keeps him from keeping the job very long.
And don't get me wrong.
I mean, I'm far from happy with what's going on.
But I also don't want to run him out of town just yet.
Now, if the third team that he brings in, if there's a carbon copy of who's first to,
maybe.
Okay, well, I got to stop you.
I appreciate the call.
I got what you're saying, and I don't disagree with you.
But, and actually, I think during that run where we won, maybe Cam played half the games and not half the game, something like that.
But, you know, would it have been better with Lowe and Quaintance and Cam?
I think the answer is probably yes.
But would it have been seven losses?
Or would it have been like 11 instead of 13, Drew, we don't really know.
Yeah.
And I still think if, you know, having low would obviously be better.
Nothing else just to have a body.
But I don't know if we ever get the Denzel Aberdeen we had.
I don't think you can ask much more from a point guard than the way he played in the SEC.
He barely turned it over, playing 35 minutes a game.
He found a three-point shot that he didn't have in the non-conference.
I don't know that we ever get that if he's still in that spot where he's just back and forth trying to find a roll.
I'm going to go and tell you, I think under three minutes to go, I want Aberdeen with the ball.
Yep.
Now, that doesn't mean I don't want O'Oway taking the final shot and Aberdeen passing it, but I want
Aberdeen to have the ball.
I think Aberdeen is just as good at getting to the rim.
Aberdeen makes his free throws consistently.
O'A shoots like 65%.
And Aberdeen can shoot threes.
So, you know, O'A is our best player, but I think Aberdeen is a,
our biggest offensive threat, certainly in the half court.
And I don't think that guy shows up without the low injury.
I agree with that.
You don't want Lowe to be hurt.
But if you look at his numbers when he was just bouncing back from the one and two
and trying to find a spot, it's not good.
It wasn't the same.
But the moment Lowe was out for the year, it's like he knew, all right, I'm the guy,
and it just shot straight up.
I think you're right about that.

realize that we are in possession of the thing.
and we're still chasing it
and we don't know when we've done enough.
Because people scoreboard watch.
Life becomes about wins and losses.
Steve Burns, Dustin Ross,

Are you a good person because you're afraid?

Absolutely.

What?
Time out.

Remember, at the end of the show, Shannon, people can send us their marriage and
relationship questions for the podcast.
That's what we're here for.
And remember, you don't need, I'm not saying you think you actually need advice from us.
No, you do.
I'm saying you do need advice.
But you can ask and we will give you our opinions.
Here we go.
To unmarried people in their 40s who clearly have it mastered.
We'll tell you where you went wrong.
We start it with two words.
I do.
See, you get to hear opinions like that.
Perfect.
Who would want not to hear that if you're in a relationship?
I think that'll be good for interrupted.
Be good entertainment.
I like how
What's funny is like
you genuinely think your advice is better
I've kind of lived it for 30 years
Oh you're talking to Ryan
I'm talking about Ryan
I'm talking about Ryan
I think you're both genuine
Like I'm kind of kidding
But neither one of you are kidding
No
No
You think you know better
Like I said
I've kind of been experienced it
twice
And then I've experienced it twice
Yeah, I mean, okay, I'm not going to, I don't want to argue with you.
772-774-5-254.
One person writes, I have a Ryan Lemon, Drew Franklin, if they were in the legislature.
Oh, okay.
We love these.
So apparently a legislator in Kentucky has considered proposing a sin tax.
Do you know what sin taxes are?
where you tax certain things that people think are bad for.
Alcohol or cigarettes.
So, so, like, I think in Kentucky maybe there's a syntax on alcohol,
certainly there is on cigarettes.
Yeah.
Is there one on alcohol?
There are a lot of states there is.
Is there one on Kentucky?
Is it higher for alcohol in Kentucky?
I think so.
Gambling has a syntax.
So Florida put a 50% syntax on only fans models.
Florida or against it?
15 or 50
50
Wow
Now of course
They're just going to pass it on to the consumer
Yeah
So are you for it or against it
Kentucky legislator is considering the same thing here
That's tough
I'm going to say I'm for it
I'm squirming
Yeah
You're for it
I'm for it
Okay
Wholeheartedly against it
For one thing
There are people on Only fans
That are just doing very normal things
Like we think of
You know
People's
on Only Hands. There are people, Only Fans, there are people on Only Fans doing completely
reasonable things. Do they get taxed to? Or is there a line? I don't know. I don't know the specifics
of the bill. That looks like a sin. And maybe I don't think we don't agree on what sins are.
And people on Only Fans are just trying to make a living. So I'm completely against it.
All right. Shannon. Yeah, why does Uncle Sam? I know what Shannon is.
Shannon has the most obvious opinion on there.
Sam didn't take off any clothes and he gets half of what she, come on. No. No, I don't think
there should be a tax on it.
I mean, I would be against it, too.
I mean, if it's a legal way to make a living, then, you know, should the government just,
Mario, you chiming in?
Did you have something to say?
You came through the microphone then.
Go ahead.
Go ahead.
Just give your thoughts, Mario.
I'm cool with it.
It's the first time Mario's ever just jumped into the show.
I didn't know the microphone.
This was the first time that he was like, all right, I have to get in here on this topic.
The only fans guy.
Yeah.
Telling on your.
Well, all right. So it's going to fall for one.
Yeah. Because, okay, so if they do that, then you could start saying, okay, I don't like people who do the job of X. I'm going to, I'm going to make a bigger tax for them.
That's what I'm saying. How do you get to decide how people are doing?
How do you get to decide that this is, if it's legal, then. And there's also a difference like with cigarettes. So the reason I think there's a syntax on cigarettes is we as a society end up paying for you doing.
that thing because you're going to get sick and we're going to have to pay for your health care.
You see what I'm saying?
So the argument on a syntax for cigarettes or even alcohol is you're going to end up in behavior
that's going to cost society money so we're making you pay for it up front.
The only fan has never been anybody sick.
Yeah.
So that's probably a no.
I do like that that's when Mario decided it was time to come on campus.
Not during the sports discussions.
Tim, go ahead, Tim.
Hey Matt, I'm getting some advice about St. Louis.
Do not roam streets at nighttime like you were in South Africa.
You're much safer in South Africa than you would be in St. Louis.
I'm not worried about it.
You know how many times we go somewhere, Tim, and people say, yeah, listen, Johannesburg is the most dangerous city in the world.
And so I'm not, St. Louis, I know has parts.
We're probably not going to be in the parts where a lot of that happens.
St. Louis can get a little...
But, you know, where we are, I think, is probably...
But people shot last weekend.
People get shot last weekend.
People get shot in Lexington.
But they come in, and they have hundreds of users come in,
and they'll shut down a street and just take over the place.
We probably won't be on that street.
Okay.
Do not, when we go across the street,
do not think that people are going to stop.
They will run you over, okay?
You're making it sound like it.
You're making it sound like it's mad back.
Are you going to war?
Well, I live in the area.
And if you look for a place to eat, try to heal it.
That's where all the Italian food is.
Okay.
It's supposed to be very good.
I've never eaten there.
You look for something to do.
They redid it, they redid the arch grounds,
and they're supposed to have a really nice museum.
Okay.
And the Fox Theater, if you get a tour of the Fox Theater,
that's a great place to go.
It's a beautiful theater.
old and it's it's it's beautiful.
All right.
Well, I would take,
well,
there's a guy,
Frank Cousamolo,
he used to work there in Lexington.
He's in St. Louis,
if you know,
Frank.
And it's a better on advice.
If you have sex,
where a tennis shoe,
you get lots of traction.
So.
I appreciate to call.
I don't know what the last thing meant,
but the,
does he work for St.
Louis tourism?
I don't think they would have had him
do the last line if they did.
The Hill,
I've heard a lot of people
say that's the place to go to go eat. Who's next? John. John, go ahead, John.
Tell Matt, how you doing? Good.
Recruiting, recruiting Christian Collins, how tall and what you play, Matt?
You know how tall it is in what position? Who you talking about? Tuck?
Christian Collins. He's like 611, 610. He's a big guy. Yeah, but he's kind of like a mobile wing for like he's the kind of
prototypical dudes you're starting to see dominate in the NBA.
Okay, okay.
And Matt Mash is real good last night on the first four in the booth.
I agree.
Bruce Pearl.
I said Bruce Pearl is pretty bad.
My wife does not like Bruce Pearl at all.
Yeah, women do not like Bruce Pearl.
I've noticed that my mom doesn't like Bruce Pearl.
He just has like an energy that I don't think, I just don't think women like.
I appreciate the call.

Oh, wow.
ASR parley. Starting tomorrow, we're going to be working on it here a little bit later.
Let's pick the games tonight. We start with Prairie View A&M in the first four against Lehigh.
Who you got? I feel really strongly about Lehigh. Lehigh is a three and a half point favorite.
I'm going all in on Lehigh. I'm all in on Lehigh. Prairie View.
I'm going to take Lehigh, Shannon. I feel like they are going to be ridiculously high and going to win the game.
They're not Lee low. They're Lehigh. Let's go Lehigh.
That's exactly right. And then my.
Miami of Ohio and SMU,
SMU is a six and a half point favorite.
Can the Red Hawks do it for America?
It'll be 99% Miami of Ohio fans in there with like an hour from Dayton.
They won't let that team lose.
Miami Ohio wins.
That's cute.
Boopi scores 30 points in a double-digit win for SMU.
Wow.
What do you got you?
Yeah, I think it's going to be a home court advantage.
I think Miami, Ohio is going to show people they are for real.
They can beat somebody that's not the sisters of the poor.
The thing is, if it was a lot of the poor.
thing is, if it was all the Methodist,
then I might
have to pick them. But it's just
the Southern. Just the Southern. The
Northern Methodists are not participating.
Don't get along. So without the Northern Methodist,
Miami of Ohio is
going to ride. I don't know if they're going to win,
but they're going to ride the crowd to cover the
six and a half. Give me the Red Hawks
and all things for Wally Zerbiak.
