presented by Stockton Mortgage.
Now, here's Matt Jones.
Welcome back.
Billy Rutledge filling in for Matt Jones this morning
alongside Ryan and Drew and Shannon,
live at KS Bar and Grow,
where we've just opened up.
We've got some people coming in to have
some Noce Linda Farms, Burgers.
Ryan, I know you've had one.
Oh, they're awesome.
And, of course, it's Wings Day today, Wings Day, Dollar Wings.
So we'll get a good lunch crowd.
Always do for them for Wings Day.
Very good.
Yeah, come see Billy R. Sports Takeover Kentucky Sports Radio here on April Fool's Day.
And, guys, it's time to test your internet reading abilities here.
I've got two things.
I want you to tell me which one's an April Fool's joke and which one is real.
Okay?
The Kentucky Football Twitter account just posted.
We're going big with the blue this fall.
and a blue Kentucky turf field coming for 2026.
Okay.
I don't believe that.
That's definitely April Fools.
Okay.
No, no Boise State coming to Lexington.
No, 100% April Fools on that one, I believe.
Okay, and I have another one here with Jasper Johnson signing an NIL deal with Fifth Third Bank.
I can believe that one.
That one looks legit.
Versus a blue field.
I will say Jasper Johnson signing with Fifth Third Bank is the real one.
Okay.
I believe that also.
I don't think that is real.
The blue field, I ain't happening.
No.
And if they were doing that, I would say, hang on.
Before you put the blue field in, can we just get that Wi-Fi we've been asking for for a decade?
Let's focus.
I know we got Scrooge McDuck money, but let's focus on what we need.
I don't believe the blue field.
No.
Good for Jasper, though.
Good for Jasper.
Yeah, interesting timing, though.
I mean, it is interesting timing.
Many people think he might hit the transfer portal, Ryan, but maybe this is somebody that would want to stay with Kentucky.
You know, you can see why.
You know, he grew up here.
parents played here.
It didn't go with the way I'm sure he thought he wanted,
so maybe he'd like get a do-over and try it one more time,
run it back one more year.
Yeah, I don't know what's going on between Jasper's ears.
I don't know him that well, but I could see a world where he would think,
you know, I can't leave this place with how that year went.
I think if he were being honest, that's not what he envisioned for his freshman year.
So I could see him wanting to run it back to prove himself,
but also he'll have to fit into the bigger equation.
Yeah, what is his role?
You know, is he going to play the two-guard spot?
Is he going to play point guard?
probably a big part of the decision-making process of Jasper Johnson.
Speaking of football, Rouse did such a good job talking football yesterday.
I also liked him talking about the offensive line coach, Cutter Lefwich, who is doing the standard.
Standard is the standard, Billy.
Of the standard of Kentucky basketball.
He's also 27 years old, Cutter-Lefwich, the offensive line coach.
Is that not insane?
27.
I'm really throwing off by all this young coaching staff.
I turned 40 last year, and it is so weak.
weird to me that the team I love to root for, like the whole staff is younger than me.
I'm in that part of life where I'm just having to accept I'm an old man now.
I love the excitement and that they have the youth, though.
I love everything about it, but it is weird to think that I'm 13 years older than a UK football.
It's crazy these guys that spend five years, six years, seven years playing college football.
Your coach is just a year or two older than you.
Yeah.
Some of these guys.
And they put out, they've done a good job of the miced up videos emphasizing, you know,
We all know Will Stine pretty well at this point, but the assistant coaches, and he was one that was last week on that standard of the standard video.
You can't help but get excited.
I know it's the offseason, and, you know, they'll have to win games on the field.
But for right now, they're doing a good job of getting everybody to buy in.
I was just trying to think, though, of me at 27 trying to get the respect of these Division 1 athletes.
I didn't play.
It would be a little different 155-pound Billy R. Sports trying to go up there and tell you how to pass block.
But Ryan, do you think you could have led young men at 27?
What were you doing?
Getting suplexed on live TV?
I was doing sports in Evansville, and Drew was watching me when he was in elementary school when I'm 27 years old.
But these guys, some of these players are making more money than they are also, even at the college level now.
So it is a little bit of an interesting dichotomy.
These coaches trying to get the respect and be authoritative figures when they're the same age, and they're making more money than you.
Yeah, exactly.
The Harold Leader did an article a little bit about.
the 27-year-old offensive line coach left which his dad was in the coaching profession for 30-plus years
his brothers and up-and-coming offensive coordinator I believe at Texas Tech so maybe he just runs in the
family in that way Drew yeah and how about wasn't our boy max Duffy a player at 27 he was
he was that's right he was punning at 27 so there could have been a world just missed it by about
five years where max was the same age of some of the coaches on the step but I guess the
argument is you guys the program needed this needed that
breadth of fresh air, energy from a younger staff, kind of that it put a little more buzz,
being a little more modern thinking in your coaching with a younger staff.
I would say they need anybody outside of Eric Wolford who decided to put on a different polo
while he was on a recruiting trip and then didn't develop any of the young talent that he had.
I mean, just anybody besides him in the building, I think, is an addition.
But there's some excitement with it being young guys, right?
I mean, Stein is a young guy himself.
So, I mean, I think that if you're trying to capture in a bottle what the college landscape is right now,
it's, you know, that's part of it.
It's just so different from what we just had.
You know, the Stoops area didn't end well, but overall, I still loved everything he did, took us to places,
I never think we'd go.
But let's be honest, he wasn't knocking down doors on social media or where can I find the next throwback uniform.
He was, I just want to go to luncheepel, take my luncheel to work, go back to work.
Stein is, and then the throwbacks are a small thing, but he got here was like, where the power case?
You know, where's the fun stuff?
Where's the fun things?
And that's what the last staff, I don't even think they even considered all those other things.
Now, those don't matter when you're on the field and you're kicking off.
But it is something that keeps the fans engaged.
Stoops probably didn't even know he had a Twitter account, you know?
Will Stein's firing off these pictures from the offices of, like, the legends on the walls,
and just little things like that.
They're small, and at the end of the day, they probably don't even matter at all.
But they do a good job of keeping the fans having fun and excited when you're not actually playing the sport.
They add up, don't they add up.
And the young guys are really embracing it where the last staff, you know, they just wanted to coach football and go home.
Right.
Let's take it to the real world for a second.
Shannon, would you have a problem if you had a new boss and he was only 27 years old?
Would you have issues taking direction from him?
Maybe a little bit, you know, that's sort of a weird situation when you got somebody significantly younger than you.
And all of a sudden they're bossing you around.
You're like, wait a minute, I've been in the business longer than you've been alive.
Yeah, exactly.
I think it would be tough to do that.
But, you know, in sports, it's a little different, I guess, in sports.
But I think in our business, it would be tough to do that.
I think it would be tough, at least for me, like, I don't know, ego, pride-wise.
Like, you know, I've been doing this a lot longer than you've been alive.
How can you tell me what to do, Ryan?
I'm sitting there thinking, I think every person is considered my supervisor here in my heart is younger than me.
So a little bit of a lot.
Every one of them.
Every one of them.
Think about it.
It's got to happen eventually.
Matt, Christy, Kathy, Nathan, Gus.
They're all younger than me.
You, you're all younger than me.
I'm not your boss.
You're my general manager, KSR general manager.
You and Billy.
Are you just now realizing that?
Are you having like an old head moment here?
I didn't even think about it until we started having this conversation like I am.
I'm the old man in the club.
I was trying to think of what I was doing at 27.
I was literally just doing exactly this at 27.
So not much change for me over the years.
It was the second year of the KSR pre-show.
Was it?
When I was 27.
Chief of my dreams at 26.
Ryan, I had to figure out what I wanted to do next.
Those were good days when I was 27,
working for Channel 7 in Evansville,
covering the Madisonville Maroons, second region basketball tournament.
I think when I was 27, that would have been the year
we won the national championship.
That was a fun year in KSR history.
So long ago.
Yeah, those days are getting farther and farther away.
Well, Ryan, if you're the old head of the group,
you'll remember when we went to space
and we went to the moon.
Do you remember those days?
Well, I was too young.
I was only like three, I think, when they landed on the moon.
But yet, as I got to look,
little older, you know, in kindergarten, first grade, the space program was like a, that was a big
deal. You know, I still very much recall that being a topic of, you know, interest. The space, it is
going to moon, going to the moon a couple times, things like that. I remember my elementary
school had pictures of astronauts in the lobby. I don't even know who they were, but it was like a big
deal. I don't know why. It was like, here's our American flag. Here are six astronauts, huge
pictures of them. Well, you know, you might grow up to be an astronaut one day, Drew. That was
kind of what I was told as a kid.
Didn't have the math,
ability skills, or the ability to get in that
little thing that spins you around so fast.
But this is not an April Fool's joke.
We're going back to the moon.
They take off today? Today, Artemis 2.
Four astronauts will begin a
10-day trip around the moon.
It should be live streamed. The launch should
begin around 6.24 p.m.
Eastern time later today.
If the trip is successful
and they do go around the moon,
they plan on sending people to the moon,
in 2028 and then by 2032 they want to build a base on the moon right why yeah i don't understand
if we've already been to the moon why are we now going around the moon why don't we just skip that
step and go right to the moon again they have they have not found anything i think on the moon that
is beneficial to us in the united in america nothing nothing i mean they got rocks and dust
what are they going to do build a base on the moon for what reason just to go and
visit and come back?
To leave us here.
Well, yeah, if you want to go to Mars one day, you've got to probably colonize the moon.
But why?
There's nothing on the moon.
There's nothing on Mars.
Why?
I mean, we're just wasting money, aren't we?
But going around the moon today.
Why?
We're destroying our planet.
So we've got to leave eventually, Ryan.
And, you know, curiosity is a human thing, right?
So maybe there's more curiosity to go back to the moon.
It's the first time since the 70s, I believe.
There's nothing there.
It's dust and rocks.
You know, at one point there was nothing here.
This used to be just dirt and rock.
Look what we did.
Look around.
Look at this.
You don't want to expand your horizons past this planet?
The only way you're going to be able to live on the moon and you'll wear a space suit 24 hours a day.
Yes.
So why?
I'm happy breathing and walking here without a space suit in Lexington.
Maybe we're the people they want to leave behind and go start a new and leave us back here to deal with these problems.
Maybe they're like, we'll go start fresh and leave.
But they're not going to be able to.
You can't breathe.
on the moon. You have to wear a mask. You're right. You can't breathe on the moon.
But like maybe you create something like the space station. That is the Ryanism of the day.
You can't breathe on the moon. But like maybe you create a like I don't know a base where you
can live on the base. Well you couldn't leave the base. You'd have to stay inside in the base.
I can't go to a Cincinnati Reds game where I can't go walk my dog down the street because
you can't live on the moon. But they're trying to build things where you can. You know that Sonic wasn't
always here, right? That used to just be dirt
right there. But I can walk from here to there and not have
to wear a space mask or a space suit.
Well, it's coming. I mean, we're
going, starting the trip today. It seems like
a colossal waste of money to me.
That's just me. Okay.
That's a long list of things. Clossil waste of money.
I would, would you go to the moon if you give them the opportunity?
See, no, I don't think I'm there yet. Like, these rich
people are paying for flights
that leave the atmosphere, right?
I don't know, was it, Gwyneth Paltrow or somebody
that just recently did this, these mega
billionaires that have the money to do
But I think that'll actually be very common 10, 20 years from now people doing that.
Yeah, taking a thrill ride.
Zip up, zip back.
I'm not going and staying.
Don't waste money.
So, anti-space.
You know, it's a waste of money is that Frappuccino you buy McDonald's every morning?
That's a huge waste of money.
I got a Wendy's today.
I mixed it up a little bit today.
We got one of Wendy's today.
When I was the luckiest guy in the world and got to do the Blue Angels flight,
beforehand they were like, what kind of experience you want?
You want to go up and do a little lap or you want to get wild?
I was like, I want all gas, no brakes.
I want the whole experience.
And I got to experience weightlessness.
I don't know how they did it.
I guess we just went really fast and shut her down,
but it was the weirdest feeling,
and there's like little particles of dust all around in front of me.
It felt like time had stopped.
It was like the coolest thing I'll ever experience.
So if I were given the opportunity to go to the moon,
I'm absolutely jumping in because I've even got a little bitty,
tiny taste of what it could be like.
Did you almost pass out or anything like that?
No, at the end, he's like, I'm going to make you pass out.
I was to bring it.
And I got very close.
I mean, my curtains were closing.
Right as we got done, but I didn't go all the way down.
You have to pee in your clothes.
I think the suit takes care of that.
I don't think it's like...
I didn't pee in any clothes.
I don't think like you're sitting in your urine.
You have to eat little cubes of tang drink mix.
It does not sound fun to me.
I don't think Ron's going to the moon.
I'm not going to the moon.
I understand why we're going to moon.
Well, we'll leave you here on Earth.
Why don't we spend our money in little more things that can help us?
I agree with that.
Like getting rid of the trash problem in New York City.
Ah, no, there we go.
You'll take the trash to the moon?
Is that what they're trying to do?
Maybe.
Who knows?
We've got to get up there and figure it out.
Mayor Ryan coming out a little bit there.
Let's fill the potholes before we go to the moon.
There we go.
It's very practical.
Take care of us down here.
Maybe that's a good idea.
That's your point.
We should.
We should.
We should.
We should.
We need to take a break.
We'll take some calls when we come back and some other fun stuff here on Wednesday
of the, not the KSR pre-show.
It's three hours of the pre-show today.

that we don't realize that we are in possession of the thing.
And we're still chasing it,
and we don't know when we've done enough.
Because people scoreboard watch.
Life becomes about wins and losses.
Steve Burns, Dustin Ross,
you find it important to be a good person while you hear on earth?
Are you a good person because you're afraid?
Because that's two different intentions, bro.
Absolutely.

Welcome back.
Billy, Ryan, Shannon, and Drew talking about the moon, chia pets, whatever we've gotten into today.
Wedding advice, sports parents.
That's what a Wednesday show during the summer is all about.
What was the line?
You have to pee in your clothes?
Is that what Ryan said?
Yeah.
If you're an astronaut in space, you pee in your clothes.
We always love the Ryan as we get on this show.
Well, also, like, you're a NASCAR driver.
You pee in your race suit.
I don't think it's just directly on the fabric.
Do they pee in their rac suit on the NASCAR drivers?
Yeah.
You can't hold it for five hours driving a car.
I know they're sweating a lot in those cars.
True.
But nevertheless, Shannon, tell us about one of the sponsors here on KSR.

Today, the A-Vision text line is the pre-show text line, which is 502-265.
666-5-6, and one person asked how long until the moon hosts a Super Bowl,
probably what we should have talked about on cover zero.
That was released probably this morning, Drew, our new episode where we got into horses
and other great topics about the NFL and broke down the coach's photo over there in Arizona.
So please listen to that.
That was a lot of fun.
We had another interview from the Super Bowl with our guy, Eric Kendricks,
who made big plays for the 49ers late in the year.
I enjoyed doing that way.
You know, Matt was gone.
We just kind of riffed on the news a little bit, but another good episode.
episode everyone should go check out yes and i promise you i'm not trying to take matt's spot on
that podcast it's just that's how it's worked out where he's gone and and i've taken his
spot ryan we talked about eric kendrix he's a big car guy could you change your oil if i asked
you to right now i could do it yeah yeah i i used to help my grandfather and my dad do it when
back in the day so i haven't done it in 40 years but i could you can figure it out yeah okay
now some of the foreign cars i could probably have a little more difficult i think it's a little trickier to
find the oil pan underneath there, but I think, you know, I got a Ford so I can do it.
I jumped a battery the other day.
Yeah, there you go.
The Beyonce's battery died, so I had to go and, you know, do the jumper cable and things
like that.
Surprised myself that I was able to do it without having to sit there and watch a YouTube
video.
You know, I think most people can get anything done with a YouTube video, right, Drew?
That's me.
I'm pretty confident that if it's on YouTube, I can, I got some, I can follow along.
I'm a big demonstration, guys.
So if someone's doing it on YouTube, I can achieve anything.
You want me to build a spaceship?
Put a guy on YouTube, building a spaceship.
And as long as I can follow step by step when he's doing, I can figure it out.
But you're like on the side of the road looking up the YouTube video to try to change the tire, right?
Well, changes the tire I can do without YouTube.
I've unfortunately had to do that more than I've wanted to, including on the side of the highway.
That's not fun.
No, it's not.
It's one of the inside tires.
Unfortunately, I had to do that.
On the oil, I've never given it as shot.
But like I said, if there's a YouTube version, I think I would be able to pull it off.
But tire, yeah, I can do that on my own.
Yeah, that seems like the litmus test for are you a man, right?
Can you change the tire?
No, I bet the first time I had to do it.
It wasn't my decision.
Got a flat tire.
I'm on the side of the highway.
I was over by Bowling Green.
I didn't know that I could do it, but it was.
You have to do it.
Aider flight at that moment.
Somebody's got to change the tire, and I'm the only one there, so I did it.
But, yeah, I can handle that now.
8-59-2-8-7.
Who's up next, dude?
Let's go to Glenn.
Hey, Glenn, what's up?
Hey, guys, what's going on?
I'm going to have to agree with Ryan here.
There is absolutely no reason.
and I would want to be on the moon for any amount of time at all.
But secondly, Drew, earlier in the week,
you kind of made a slight comment about an all-star point guard in Nashville
that maybe would have some interest.
Was that just wishful thinking?
Yeah, that was wishful thing.
We're talking about the Vandigard, Tanner?
Yeah, someone asked our dream,
they're trying to get us to build the team for a minute.
didn't have any scoop on that. I was just trying to think of guards.
I like a college basketball where if we had a anything we wanted. No, I was, that was,
that was wishful thinking. Good enough. I'm right there with you. I was at the Vandy game this
year and even though we trounced him, uh, he still plays a good game and I think he fit in well,
but I think he would be a really high dollar get. I don't know that that's possible, but,
you know, like you say, wishful thinking. All right, guys, good variety on the show today. You guys
are doing a good job. Keep it up.
Talk to you later.
All right.
Thank you very much.
I hope I didn't give anybody false hope in that.
I was just naming a point guard.
I'd like to go out and get if that were possible.
But taking him from Vandy would be difficult.
I'd like to admit how much Vandy's got it rolling right now.
They do.
In all sports.
And it's not slowing down.
Yeah.
Having been down there at the SEC tournament and hanging out with some local people
and them just talking about the money piling into Vandy.
And it's not like a lump.
It's like just Vandy businessmen and women, like the city's getting into Vandy a little bit.
And that's scary because that's a rich town.
Did you see their new assistant coach?
Joel Justice.
That's right.
Oh, really?
Martin's staff and is going to be in Nashville, right?
I didn't know that.
So what was on the social media yesterday trying to make the connection between Moe Williams and Josh Hubbard?
Is there some kind of pipeline for him?
Josh might have even gone through Mo Williams Academy.
That'd be close on the timeline there.
He might have already been coaching.
But it was Mississippi guys.
They stick together.
Even Hubbard shared when Mason Williams committed.
I think Mason Williams went to Josh Hubbard's camp.
and then I'm sure Mo has the Hubbard connection,
but they're all from the same area.
I mean, Hubbard lights it up, man.
Like, do you think he'd be a good fit here?
Or is that more of like a, I need the ball,
maybe not the best fit for Pope?
Wouldn't be my first pick because I just don't know how he translates
into where you have to settle him down a little bit
and be more of a point guard.
Because in Mississippi State, there were games where it's like,
all right, I'm the only one that's on the team tonight.
And he had to do that.
I mean, he had some crazy games,
but I don't know how that would work here.
But if, you know, if Mo were to bring him,
I like Hubbard a lot.
Well, Ryan, the new GM, I'm using air quotes here because it's a different name,
not actual general manager, but Keegan Brown, Brown, right?
Yes, that's the dorm.
You know, he talked about, yeah, the dorm, talked about roster fit over just pure talent,
and maybe that would be the difference in not signing a Hubbard for somebody that maybe is more a Pope's system.
And that's why the first roster that Pope put together was so perfect.
He went out and got guys to kind of fit his system, you know, like you talked about,
kind of got an Angley-Lamanor just to make a stand in the corner and shoot threes.
That's what he needed from his four guy.
He got a dominant point guard.
He got a five guy that can handle the ball a little bit and make good passes.
Last year, I think he adjusted a little bit and tried to think what he needed to play in the SEC,
not necessarily for his system, but what made him more competitive in the SEC.
So it's going to be interesting to see what he goes back to now.
You know, this is make-a-break year for him.
So interesting to see how he constructs that roster this year.
Yeah, we've got to have some urgency around here.
Big year for Pope.
We were just getting – we were joking early about the championship,
but we're just getting farther and farther from being in the conversation.
There's a graphic that went up and had the logos of the final four teams of the last 10, whatever years,
and just not seeing the Kentucky logo on that.
It was like, what is going on?
Well, then you see Yukon going for their seventh title since 99.
I mean, that's crazy.
That should be Kentucky, right?
So, I mean, there is a sense of let's get this thing going again.
Mario, are you ready to post this thing?
Yeah.
Okay.
So it is Wild Eggs Wednesday.
Wild Eggs Wednesday.
And it's time for our Wild Eggs Word Scramble.
Where are you going to be posting this, Mario?
KSR, the show, Twitter?
Twitter?
Instagram.
Instagram.
Instagram.
Go to the KSR show, Instagram.
Mario is doing our Wild Eggs Wednesday.
Ryan, do you know what the word is?
I do know what the word is, and if the first person to get it gets a $50 gift card from wild eggs,
good at not just Lexington or Louisville, Bowling Green, Indianapolis,
since all the area wild eggs are good for this gift card, so you're eligible to play anywhere.
I'm going to try to figure it out during the break.
I am notoriously bad at Wheel of Fortune.
so that means I'm bad at games like this.
Oh, these are my game.
Like the jumble, I'm good at these.
In fact, remember I said it out loud a couple weeks ago.
I got to make sure.
You did.
Yeah, as soon as you saw it, you guessed it out loud.
Yeah, I'm refreshing so I can play, but I won't shout it into the line.
So Mariel's posting it on the KSR Instagram account right now.
Breaking Billy Rutledge signs deal to become new lead host of Kentucky Sports Radio will lead the show solo.
Wow.
Wow.
Big news.
Congratulations.
All right, we'll take a break.
Be right back.
T.J. Smith, personal injury attorney.
Call T.J. He'll make them pay.
Now, more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage.
Here's Matt Jones.
Welcome back.
Billy R. Sports filling in for Matt today, along with Ryan, Drew, and Shannon, Mario alongside as well.
Having a good time.
Random topics today, but I wouldn't have it any other way, guys.
That's what summer shows are all about.
I can't listen to sports radio anymore.
You won't find me doing Colin Cowherd impressions anymore.
I think that's what I wanted to do at first.
Drew, but after 10 years of KSR, I've morphed into this.
This is better.
I don't listen to any sports radio.
I find it incredibly boring, which is pretty crazy because I work for a company called Kentucky
Sports Radio.
Yeah.
But we do it a different style here, and I can't imagine having to sit here and talk just nerding out
over actual sports every minute of the show.
Yeah, we're talking about peeing in your suit and going to space.
And I want to talk more about that in just a second.
But Drew, tell us about one of our sponsors here on KSR.
Well, Billy, spring has sprung, and that means you're probably getting outside more, right?
Yeah.
A big of tan going on.
Looks like you've been outside.
Whether it's doing yard work or biking, running, whatever it is.

859-28027 before we get back to the phones, guys.
today is the 50th anniversary of Apple, the company.
Do you remember your first Apple product, your first iPod, Ryan Lemon?
I've never had an iPod.
What?
I've never had an Apple phone.
Have you had an Apple anything?
Oh, that's right.
I'm talking to the Android guy.
I'm Team Android.
Have you not had Apple?
You don't have an iPad on a computer?
No.
So you never got in on the app, the iPod Touch, the original iPod.
No. No, I can't, I don't know if I've ever had an Apple.
No, Josiah, my boys have, but I've not.
I had a brick that, you know, revolutionized how I listen to music, Drew.
I think we all did, or at least most of us.
I mean, I used to carry around a CD player, and I would have, you know, the songs I could play,
and it just changed when you could get that iPod.
A friend of mine recently found his first iPod, and the screen was busted,
and he was sending me a video as he found it, and he plugged it in, and it started playing.
It was just all the hits from, like, high school.
I'm sure I have one in a drawer or a closet somewhere that I need to dig out.
But I've had them all, I guess, from the nano.
The nano, yeah.
Did you have the shuffle?
Because that was a pain in the ass.
I'm sure I did.
And then, you know, I haven't had every iPhone, but I've had one of the first ones and stick with it.
I'm not Ryan.
I'm pretty pro-apple.
Oh, the shuffle didn't even have a screen, Ryan.
So, like, you couldn't even, like, you had to just skip through.
I don't even remember how you got to the song you wanted to.
You just had to skip through it.
Skip through the song list to get the one you wanted.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So, it doesn't sound like you did you partake any of it.
No.
I'm all in Apple.
I do Apple music.
Okay.
I got the Apple News.
Did you have lime wire back in the day?
I don't know if you've heard that, Billy.
I have a few shares of Apple.
Oh, you do?
Yeah, so if I just need to walk in, I feel like, hello, I'm a co-owner here.
Yeah, I'm just like to say hi to everyone.
Yeah, I probably am more into Apple than I need to be because I don't necessarily love them as a company, but as I look around, I have several things right in front of me that are happening.
All the mixes I downloaded onto my iPods back in the day.
had these like disclaimers on them,
the lime wire stuff, Ryan.
So I don't know what that is.
Talking to a guy from a different generation,
really,
I guess,
but like I figured that everybody went through that phase
in the early 2000.
I think the boys did,
but I did not.
Shannon, you're a rock DJ.
I mean, you remember,
you've got these products, right?
Yeah, I remember first one I had the MP3
would only hold 30 songs.
So you had to pick your favorite 30 songs
to go work out to or go mow the lawn to.
Then Apple came along with the eye,
not pot yeah i pod
ipod i pod and you could put like two thousand songs on there i was like this is revolutionary
this is crazy i don't have to pick 30 songs to keep on there so yeah i think i've still got
mine somewhere i don't think it works but i've still got it it's a brick now
paperweight collector of no doubt yeah uh 50th anniversary of apple and all the products
that's a long run did you recently see i want to make sure i'm not making this up especially
on april's day but i think i saw apple said we need to stay off our phones
Wow, that would be quite the heel turn.
I was like, of all people, to tell me to put my phone down.
Yeah, that'd be like Facebook telling me to not log on.
Tim Cook urged Apple users to get off their smartphones and spend some time in nature.
So even Apple was like, hey, guys, put your phone down a little bit from time to time.
Well, Shannon shared on the pre-show just yesterday that he spends eight hours a day on his phone
as the screen time reminds us about how much time we like to spend on these screens.
Drew, you're a blogger.
I mean, how many hours are you pushing on your phone?
on that. See, I use my computer more than my phone. I even text for my, there, I'll go hours and not even know where my phone is because I'm sitting in my computer. It won't even be any near me. I miss a lot of calls because calls don't come through. So my actual phone screen time wouldn't be that high, but if the computer measures it, it would probably be all day. Well, it's Mario that probably has the number that would scare us at all. Oh, yeah. I mean, look at him right now. I got his nose right in it. By the way, Mario, can you come here for a second? I want to talk to you for you. Ryan, will you give him that?
Oh, no. So our listeners know real quick. I don't know what they're about to do. Sometimes we have to separate these two.
Are you going to be friendly?
Are you going to be cordial?
Do I need to stand?
I promise.
Oh, please.
Do I need a referee?
No, I promise I'll be friendly.
What's up, dude?
What's up, man?
How you doing?
I'm good.
Doing a hell of a job.
Oh, thank you, man.
I appreciate that.
No, no problem.
I appreciate you posting that photo on me yesterday.
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Breaking news.
No, you're doing a great job.
I, you know, I didn't want to make fun of you or anything.
I just wanted to bring you on to highlight, like, the work you've done, man.
Oh, thank you, my God.
Over the last year, year and a half.
you posted a post just a couple days ago.
What was it?
Like the, it's not just a radio show.
Yeah, yeah, I like that one.
Posting the photos of the big crowds that come to KSR
and really the difference that, you know,
these guys make on an everyday basis.
I just wanted to give you some flowers, man.
You've done a great job.
I appreciate it.
Connecting the younger audience to KSR,
we've seen that in the TikTok numbers.
But not only that, but your content's been improving
ever since you joined, man.
This is not like a me trying to get under your skin or anything like that.
No, no, I get it.
You have brought a different element to the show, and I think everybody recognizes that.
I appreciate that, man.
That means a lot to me.
I work hard at it, and I have fun with it.
It doesn't really feel like a job.
I get to hang out with you guys.
I say it all the time.
I don't really have family up here, so I treat you guys as basically as my family.
So I have a lot of fun with it, and then I work hard at it and good things happen.
Well, that's what made me think about it.
It's just seeing these photos on the wall and how far I've come since 2017, man.
These guys are my family.
They're coming to my wedding, and you're coming, too.
So it's just been, it's fun seeing you grow over this.
I appreciate it, man.
I'm excited for the future.
It should be a lot of fun.
Now I need you to defend me a little bit.
Okay.
The chef special in San Francisco.
Oh, yeah.
You didn't like it.
I didn't like it.
You stormed out.
You walked out the restaurant.
I stormed out of the restaurant at one point.
Drew was there.
Maybe I don't have the strongest stomach, but we came into a restaurant and Matt ordered for all of us.
And that just wasn't what I was dealing with.
You know, I like trying new stuff, but you wanted.
Like, you were more into chicken and rice and, you know, the basic Americans.
But I need you to say, you know, how crazy that food was.
Some of it was gross.
That was not just like your normal chef special.
Some of it was gross.
That was a crazy amount of food.
Which you don't know until you try it.
So.
Well, I didn't.
You hated it.
I didn't try half of this stuff.
He just needed some fresh air.
Now, how was I as a travel buddy?
Because if, you know, when it comes to travel, Ryan's kind of the snorer here.
Drew's the guy that kind of stays out until the next morning.
Yeah, he had a lot of fun with Drew.
You can't be in a room with Ryan, though.
You're not going to get three hours of sleep total with Ryan.
But yeah, man, it's a lot of fun traveling with you guys.
I wish you could go on more road trips.
I missed Drew a lot during our last road trip, Drew and Shannon.
Just saying it wasn't fun without me there.
It's okay.
Yeah, hopefully we can get one more road trip with the whole six of us.
That's my goal.
We need to do a little bachelor party for me before I put this ring on it.
That's happening.
Yeah, we're doing that.
Where are we going to go, though?
Like, what's the food?
You guys got to choose that, but yeah.
But you'll be a part of it, though.
Absolutely.
Okay, well, I'm looking forward to not only that, but the next couple years working with you.
I know, man, it's going to be a lot of fun.
Appreciate it.
Thank you for the con words as well.
Mario Maitland.
That was really sweet.
I was recording that like a proud uncle over here.
I was doing Mario's job with my phone out.
I thought that could be contentious because I've been up late with you two playing pool
and I see you all.
You get like barking dogs around each other.
But today, that was very sweet.
The pool game Mario came out and said like I was a pro.
He started Snapchat and all the,
the women he's talking to.
He had a toothpick in his mouth.
You mean the ladies of KSR.
He was commenting on their page.
He was getting a little testy,
and that pool game did get a little contention.
But Barrio's my guy.
He's the only one, you know,
that's kind of in the same age range as me.
So, you know, we've connected.
It was a nice moment you two shared right there.
It was kind of nice to witness it,
so it makes me a proud papa.
I mean, I took more pictures of YouTube in San Francisco
than I did myself.
Y'all were doing photos shoots on the sidewalk.
I was taking a little proud dad pictures at the parties.
Like, look at these two all dressed up, meeting Kane Brown over here.
Well, I tried to do the most.
I was doing like a power squat, trying to get the different angles of Mario.
And then he left his credential in that alley that smelled like urine.
And then you couldn't get back in until you filed a police report.
It was quite the adventure.
Back on your bachelor party, though.
You need to have one with your boys, people you grew up with.
I don't know what circles you run in.
But Matt and I have already discussed, there is going to be a KSR Bachelor Party
for Billy. We don't have to go far,
but just this crew, Shannon,
over there, and then of course, Matt, we're
doing something for you. Well, good. I wouldn't have it
any other way. It feels like there needs to be a
send-off of some point. Absolutely. If it's just
a night out in Lexington, we're going to have
a KSR bachelor party this summer. Have to.
Good. Well, beer and a half Mario will
come around. Maybe I'll have
a mimosa. They're starting to do it.
I'll have a mimosa. Maybe he'll have
the menu upside down. We'll have to turn it around
for him. He waited until Mario
doesn't have a microphone and now he's
getting his jabs in. I knew you were up to something. Well, you know, I said my nice things,
and now I can get into the other stuff. I love you, but. Yeah, exactly. But we do appreciate you,
Mario. You keep on killing it, man. We'll take some phone calls on the other side of this break.
We'll be right back here on Kentucky Sports Radio. Last night, a blown call changed a game. This morning,
the internet lost its mind. Highlights are trending, opinions are flying, and nobody's telling you
exactly what happened. That's where Sports Slice comes in. I'm Timbo. Every episode, we're cutting through
the noise, breaking down the plays, the controversies, and the stories behind the headlines.
We go straight to the source, the athlete themselves, their locker room stories, their reactions,
the stuff nobody gets to hear. The laughs, the drama, the triumphs, the moments that never
make the highlight real. From viral moments to historic games, from buzzer beaters to controversial
calls, we break it down, give you context and ask the questions everybody wants answered.
Sports slice brings you closer to the action with stories told by the people who live them.

Sometimes when we're in the pursuit of the thing, we get so rapid.
up in the chase, that we don't realize that we are in possession of the thing, and we're still
chasing it, and we don't know when we've done enough.
Because people scoreboard watch.
Life becomes about wins and losses.
Steve Burns, Dustin Ross, because you find it important to be a good person while you hear on
earth, or are you a good person because you're afraid?
Because that's two different intentions, bro.
Absolutely.
And that's two different levels of trust.
I want you to just really be a good person.

This linebacker, this linebacker walks up to me.
He goes, hey, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her.
What?
Time out.
Quarterback on office blue with 42.
Hey, Wreck, my mama want you to weigh better.
What?
Hey, Miss Parker.

If you're watching the latest season of the Real Housewives of Atlanta, you already know there's a lot to break down.
Norsha accusing Kelly of sleeping with a merry man.
They holding Kay Michelle back from Friday.
like Drew. Pinky has financial issues.
I like the bougie style of Housewives show.
I think it looks like it's gonna be interesting.

Maybe in time for my wedding, guys.
But a couple sports notes, and then we'll end the show from the phone lines.
Kentucky baseball beat Miami of Ohio last night, 14 to 11.
Ryan, get this, seven batters were hit by pitch in the game.
There were 11 walks in the game.
Several times a batter was hit, and it brought a run in.
Probably the worst thing that can happen when it comes to baseball,
but it was a long marathon as the baseball team got the win last night.
Yeah, that's Little League baseball right there when you got hit by pitch and ball fours.
What didn't one guy from Kentucky have five at-bats, got on base all five times,
and did not even touch the baseball?
Ethan Hindle had three walks and two hit by pitches, five played appearances,
but it goes down in the books as a zero-for-zero-zero day.
That's got to be some sort of record.
You're five times and you don't even touch the ball, but you're on base five times?
Well, second time or third time in five games, Kentucky scored more than 10 runs, double digits.
So the offense is starting to come around a little bit.
And Drew, tonight we get, I guess, part five of Lou City versus Lexington Sporting Club tonight.
Yeah, big things happening over at Lexington SC Stadium.
We got to get one in that rivalry.
Got to get a while.
I've even gone up on them a few times, but need to break through and get a win.
You know, Louisville City has been around much longer.
They've had that rolling for a while.
They're a good program.
Lexon is trying to get to that point,
and winning a couple in the rivalry game
will be a good start, starting with tonight.
Yeah, Lou City.
Even if you can't go tonight,
I said this last year.
I went to several games last year.
I haven't been yet this year.
I plan to.
It is just a lot of fun over there.
It really is.
They've got a great thing going.
Tonight's not $1.50 beer night,
but occasionally they have those.
If you like to have a couple of cold beers
while you watch sports, I recommend that too.
I think both teams have cool stadiums.
Lex Sporting Club is a very cool vibe,
and, you know, 14,000 people coming out for that
that Louisville Kings game just recently, Ryan.
That is actually a pretty good crowd number when you look at the UFL.
When it comes to opening day, they were near the top, 14,000.
Yeah, the Kings, their opening first touchdown was Lucky Jackson,
who's from here in Lexington.
Western Kentucky.
Lafayette High School, Western Kentucky.
He scored the first touchdown.
I only lost by one point, I believe, right?
It was close.
It was close.
It was a little more.
Louisville drove the field at the very end and scored a touchdown to win.
But then I saw the box.
I mean, the other team, not Louisville.
Benny only
Benny's now only touched the ball
like five or six times
Benny was not getting much help
from his offensive line
You know it's game one
We got a lot of work to do
And you know Benny could have been better too
But there just weren't many holes
They're in a weird spot where
The offenses didn't look great
Then you just have like some random athletes out there
That can dominate
And you got a blooper the very first drive
I mean it was glad that's behind us now though
Drew like let's just move forward
And opening day jitters
That was like the second throw of the game
Too a rough look early on
but it ended up being a fun game overall,
and I really think they've got something brewing over there in Louisville.
So they play at Orlando this weekend,
but then I think Orlando returns back here for like the 10th, April 10th,
they're back to home for a home game.
Well, this is a city that will support something like that,
I think where Louisville is.
Yeah.
I think it's all where we'll go back to the Louisville FC.
They're undefeated.
I think they're at 4-0.
I didn't realize they were also 4-0 against Kentucky.
I didn't realize that we had not beat them.
Yeah, Lexington has not beat them.
Yeah.
And this is, I guess, the second round of their U.S. Open Cup.
Sometimes they do league play, they do cup play.
So this will be cup play tonight, which I guess means penalty kicks if they're tied.
We had a couple wins recently.
Got Brooklyn, one another one before that.
So it's not like they're not getting wins over there.
Just got to get one against Louisville.
Yeah, yeah.
Turn that rivalry around.
All right, let's take some calls, dude.
859-2802-287.
Who's up next?
Let's go to Mark Anthony.
Hey, Mark Anthony.
Hey, hey, good morning, Billy.
Hey, I haven't talked to you in a long time.
I'm glad to hear you running the bus this morning.
Yeah, you too, buddy.
Let me get right at it.
I've got to comment on the future of our basketball.
I'm going to quote Caliperi from a few years back.
We're going to beat you in the paint.
If we hit threes, we'll beat you by 30.
You know, fellas, that's still valid.
It's still valid.
You look at the final four.
You got Illinois, Arizona, Michigan, Yukon.
You've got a bunch of dudes who, like Bob Ross, work in paint.
And that's how they get the biggest.
part of their point. They have good three-point shooters in case they can throw it out to them open.
But that's what we need. We need big dudes. We need Jaden Queens or an equivalent. We need Moldiabate
back, I think. Malachi Marino has got to work against the team of mules because he can't let
anybody take basketball out of his hands. He needs body, upper body strength. If Jasper Johnson
comes back, he also just needs strength. He has talent, and you can't drill talent as hard as you
may want to. You can't drill talent into
that guy. He just needs strength.
And Cam Williams,
I know Drew, had said that
he would recruit over the whole bunch of them, but
Drew, I don't believe you can recruit
a better dude than Cam Williams for his spot
on our team. And that's
the end. A little comment on
your neighbor's show, fellas.
I got HBO, and when they said,
when Matt said, we're going to watch neighbors and talk,
okay, I'll get in. I want to play alone.
And so I watch one episode.
and I decided at the end of that episode,
I don't care about none of these damn people.
And I quit watching.
They're a bunch of brothels.
They're all a bunch of bubbles.
I'm glad you live in Montana far away from me.
That's all I got, fellas.
We'll talk to you later on.
All right, watch the language, Mark.
But thank you for the fare of the call.
I've heard neighbors is good, Drew.
It is.
But he actually has the right attitude.
We should not be shining light on these people,
but I couldn't help, but get hooked.
You can't look away.
You told me like it gets worse every episode.
It's like the first episode is like the tamest one.
Oh, yeah.
And it's just right when you're like, well, this can't get any crazier.
Crazier in the next scene.
Well, dinosaurs only has like four parts, so I'll be looking for something new soon.
Maybe I'll go into neighbors next.
There's a lot out there right now.
We've had some people patiently waiting, so who's up next to?
We'll try to get some more in.
Bob and James Town.
Oh, welcome, Bob.
You say, guys, after April Tuesday, speaking of Bob Richie,
Alias, Kid Rock,
that little excitement down there
last Saturday,
and when he got some
101st Airborne
Apache helicopter pilots
in hot water
when they did a fly-by
in his crib down there.
Down the Army's going to do
a little investigation
on what these guys doing,
giving him that little personal
salute in front of his
outdoor pool.
Anyway, that's all I got.
It's April Tuesday.
You guys have a good time.
All right.
Thank you, Bob.
Ryan talked about us wasting money.
The flyby over Kid Rock's pool, that's probably a little bit of waste of money.
I think it's a big waste of money.
Yeah, so he can get a Twitter video and salute the Apache helicopter.
He's got a statue of liberty on his pool.
I would still like to recreate the video that he did with the Kennedy, Shannon, if you'd like to do that with me.
If we could put some jeans on, maybe go to the sauna that I purchased for my house here soon.
You're going to be Kid Rock?
I'll be Kennedy.
Yeah, I think you should.
I think we could do it scene for scene.
I don't know if Mario
wants to see all that,
but he's not going to have a choice.
He's our camera guy.
Don't forget your jeans.
That's right.
Well, I got them on now.
And then didn't they drink milk afterwards
or something like that?
Sure did.
And a hot tub.
That's the pinnacle of health.
Guys, thanks for joining me.
Did a good job today.
Little Billy.
Thank you.
Billy R. Sports.
Let me jump in.
It's been a lot of fun.
KSR has meant a lot to me.

since I joined it,
and I said I could get Jennifer Lawrence's phone number.
It's been a long time.
since then.
Still waiting on you getting that phone number, by the way.
Yeah, well, we're still working on it.
Okay.
