This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidel,

Where does your group perform?
We do some retirement homes.

Welcome to Hour 2 of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage.
Now here's Matt Jones.
Here's not Matt Jones.
I'm Drew Franklin, filling in for Matt.
He's on vacation this week.
Ron Lemon checked in with him yesterday.
Everything good.
Talk to him.
You know, I'm also his real estate.
That's right. How's that going? Good. We had some business taken care of. How long has he been looking for a house? This has been happening since. I think we started in 2007. 2007. No. He's got a good realtor. I think Matt wasn't finding what he wanted. It's not that Ryan wasn't doing his job. You know, we can't push a buyer to go buy. It's kind of just kind of got to be ready when they're ready. I would just like to say to if you're home buying, usually it happens when you're not expecting it. That's true.
Because I had a call with my financial gap.
This money we've been saving for a down payment, we're not going to find a house anytime soon.
So let's do something with it.
And I think three days later, we accepted the offer on our forever home.
So, like, you know, it's just when you least expect it.
Yesterday was the anniversary of ours, we offered on April Fool's Day.
That's right.
I forgot about that.
You're right.
I had a child on April Fool's Day.
We decided we wanted to go through it.
You had a child on April Fool's day.
Yeah, six years ago.
Was that Duke?
Happy birthday Duke.
Yeah, happy belated to Duke.
I didn't realize that.
I would have led with that.
He's had a big, big week, some learning lessons.
You're about to get into parenthood, Drew,
and the best part about it is that you just watch them grow.
And you can enjoy the moments.
You can hate some of them because they scream at you and they cry.
But, you know, you realize you just got to take it in stride.
So we had, it was a fun moment.
He's getting into coach pitch now.
Oh, I love that age.
So I got to go soft toss with him.
And to see him go from, like, swinging and missing to, like, blasting the ball,
that was great.
It is.
Another moment that was great, because I'm sure there's some people out there who are like, wait,
Rouch has a kid named Duke.
Yeah, let's clear that up.
I weren't going to leave that out there.
Yeah, so it's a family name.
That was what my grandfather went by.
If you go to Shavley, there's a big tank there.
It's named the SS Duke after him.
So if he's good enough to have a tank named after him, he's good enough to have a great
grandson named after him.
But in doing so, you know, he likes the Walcats.
His mother was a colonel of birds, so he'll cheer for them sometimes, too.
But when Duke was playing in the tournament, he naturally,
wanted the team named after him to win.
I just,
when that shot went in,
I didn't hold anything back.
I can only imagine.
I was happy.
I was laughing.
And it took him a minute to realize that they lost.
And when it did,
no, tears.
Just so many tears.
They cheated.
He ran upstairs to his room.
You know,
so, you know,
that's a part of growing up,
learning how to,
survive heartbreak through sports.
We'll get there.
We'll get there a lot in coach pitch, too.
They didn't have outs and tee ball.
They didn't have, you know, scorekeeping.
We're going to get some tears in coach pitch as well.
So it's just, it's all part of the learning process.
I had a similar experience when Tim Couch didn't win the Hysman trophy.
They clearly cheated by giving it.
Oh, obviously.
People still talk about it.
Yeah, definite cheating.
Kind of a teaching moment for you, too, to maybe be like, Duke, let's take a walk.
I need to tell you about the Blue Devils and how we're not going to do that in this family.
Yeah, yeah, they're bad guys.
You're the bad guys.
You're the bad guys.
But at the same time, though, like if, you know, he told me,
Dad, when I get older, I'm going to play for Duke,
and I'm going to beat those wolf dogs.
That's what we're calling them the wolf dogs.
In the back of my mind, I'm like, man,
I really don't want this to become a thing.
But if he was to be good enough at basketball to join the Brotherhood,
who am I to turn down multi-million dollar NIL offers?
Go play for John Shire.
For four years, you could support Duke while he's about,
playing basketball for him, absolutely.
Yeah, I'll wear a blue shirt.
It doesn't have to have that logo on it.
Yeah, we can make it work.
You could still push him towards Kentucky a little bit,
and if it ends up there, then you deal with it.
Because if you're getting offers from Duke,
you're also getting offers from Kentucky.
True.
Yeah, yeah.
I'm still running through my checklist of how to parent.
There's a lot to do and be prepared for, Nick.
No one really told me all this goes into it.
I'm learning, you mentioned Game of Thrones earlier.
Getting into a daycare is like Game of Thrones in this town.
Like, there's all these different houses,
and you've got to be on a nine-year wait list,
You got to cut off somebody's head to skip a head in line.
It's a war zone out there.
Nobody warned me about that one.
Yeah, and it's also very cheap, too.
Oh, God.
So cheap.
Oh, not at all.
Yeah, that's tricky.
Here's one other thing they don't warn you about, Drew.
You don't have to worry about this for, like, a year or so, maybe even a little bit longer.
Just prepare to change your diet habits.
Because children, they just, they will not try new foods.
You may want to try something new.
they, good luck with that.
So, you know, a lot of chicken nuggets and mac and cheese are in your future.
That does not change our lifestyle at all.
Abby and I eat a blue box of crass mac and cheese weekly, and we'll continue to do that.
You mentioned money.
Let's make a little money tonight.
Did you all know, there we have sports to bet on tonight?
Obviously, we're going to use draft king sports book with the crown is yours.
Tonight, the NIT Final Four.
Oh, NIT Final Four.
Oh, I know everybody's been excited about this.
I don't even know who's playing in it.
Well, let's play that game, Ryan.
Name one team in the NIT Final Four.
I'm going to say it's poop state.
No.
The bathroom jokes today.
Yeah.
How about I tell you, after he's taking so much heat this year,
he has been a joke of college basketball.
Stephen Pearl has Auburn in the Final Four.
Wow.
Back-to-back years, Auburn in the Final Four.
Last year was the other Final Four.
This year, he has the Tigers in contention in the United.
Who they've included?
they play. They're the second game. They play Illinois State.
Before that, we got a little... Two Illinois teams in each Final Four.
And before that, we got a little New Mexico and Tulsa who we just talked about.
So Richard Petino, no longer at New Mexico. Is Jamal Mashburn Jr.?
Still at New Mexico? He also left, if I'm not mistaken. I think he's in the G-League maybe now,
Jamal Jr.? Antonio Reeves no longer back at Illinois State. Remember when people started up that
rumor that he was going to go back to Illinois State? That was a fun connection.
Jake Hall is the leading score.
for New Mexico. He looks like a Tick-Tocker, but he gets buckets. So he will be leading the Lobos tonight.
We're going to do our picks. Since you all didn't know the teams, I'm going to assume you're locked in on covering the spread.
First game, 7 o'clock, live from Hinkle Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. They do it where the Final Four is now, by the way.
They realize no one cares about this. Let's just latch on to the other Final Four. It's like when WCW would just go to the city where WWF was and just try their best to get some crowd.
That's what the NIT does now.
But on ESPN, New Mexico versus Tulsa, a battle.
New Mexico is a two and a half point favorite.
Give me the dogs.
We talked Golden Hurricane earlier.
Shout out to Aaron Love.
Shout out the Portal House.
Let's go Golden Hurricane.
Yeah, we shouted her out.
Tubby Smith was at Tulsa?
That's right.
Bill Self was at Tulsa.
One of the few mascots that doesn't end with an S.
It's right.
It's one like 15 Division I schools and nicknames doesn't end in the Nass.
And I should know more than that one.
Their leading scores David Green.
He looks exactly like the guy from Severance.
If anyone watches that show?
He does.
Wow.
Yeah.
That might even be him.
Do you think he can dance like that guy?
Probably not, but he's going to dance tonight because I also like Tulsa.
All right.
Yeah, let's go to Tulsa.
Let's Shannon.
All right, I guess I'll be the one guy.
I'll take New Mexico.
I knew it.
And the two and a half.
I was going to take them anyway before you guys took Tulsa, so I'll go New Mexico.
And in the nightcap, which I'm sure everyone will stay up for.
930 ESPN, Stephen Pearl versus Illinois State.
Auburn is a seven and a half point favorite
I want Auburn to win and not cover
I really want them to have an IT runner-up banner at Auburn Arena
that would be a lot of fun
all this Haiti gets he goes and wins the NIT and they're just
conflicted like well we didn't even want that but now I guess we have to celebrate it
that's why I'm pulling for them I want them to win I want Auburn to win the thing
so they have to celebrate an NIT banner after not even making the NCAA
tournament seven a half is too many points
Way too many points.
I'm taking Illinois state to cover, but Auburn will win the game.
What about you, Shannon?
Yeah, I like where you guys are at there.
I think Auburn wins the game.
I think seven and a half is too much, so I take Illinois plus the seven and a half.
Can I give you a future on the draft king's sports?
Yeah, I was about to shout out a few more draft Kings things, but if you have one, go ahead.
They say that the Inc.
They say that the Incubly tournament is three, two-game tournaments.
So I like to bet who survives the two-game tournament.
I like that.
Illinois at four to one.
They're playing really good ball right now.
And everybody's talking about how Arizona and Michigan is the real national championship game.
If Illinois keeps this up, if they can make their threes, I like that one.
And you know another thing I want to try on the Final Four this weekend too, Drew?
I want to see, I want to test if the Final Four Stadium sight lines is a real thing.
And bet first half unders in both games.
Yeah, I like that.
First half.
Because they might eventually figure it out, but let's bet on the nerves to be a little tight.
First half hundreds in both games.
I've been to a final four in Indianapolis.
I did not enjoy it.
I did not enjoy it, but I'll be locked in for bringing that out.
That's okay.
That's okay.
But check all that out on draft kings.
Baseball season's going on.
Oh, back cuts.
Yeah, you can get Kentucky baseball in there all the time.
Back at home, 6.30 tomorrow night against Missou.
Yeah, check them out.
The crown is yours.
Shannon, let's knock out a few calls real quick.
All right, let's go to Bob and Jamestown.
Bob, I've been waiting for this phone call.
How you doing, buddy?
What do you say, guys?
This is a little moon story.
back in 1969,
Apollo 11th,
the first man on the moon walk.
Neil Armstrong.
Okay, Kevin Grevy and I were in the summer school class.
And Kevin brought this black and white TV
to watch the blast off.
And we were sitting there and they were doing the countdown,
T-minus 10, 9, 8, 7,
all of a sudden the TV just went to snow.
Right before the blast off,
Kevin got mad and just reached,
over and smack the top of that
TV really hard
and the picture came on
right on the lift-off was happening
so I was really
something I mean back there
you know I was really I mean
all over the world that first man on the
moon walking you know one step
for man one step for mankind
but a little
story there with Kevin Grevy back when we
watched that that lift up
I'm much more interested in why Kevin Grevy's
just walking around with his own TV where were you
Did he just show up?
He had a TV in his hands and plugged it in?
No, he brought it from home.
We brought it when we knew that, you know,
the lift-off was going to be that more.
We were in a summer school class, taking a math class.
And he brought this, you know, small portable black-and-white TV.
And I guess, hey, we were watching it.
And all of a sudden, right before the lift-off, it just went to snow.
Well, he reached over then, and, I mean, really, it smacked the heck out of it.
And then right there right before the lift-off, the picture came back on.
I would have just skipped class.
I wouldn't have been in class either.
Appreciate the call, Bob.
I guess I'm the only one of the things.
It's weird that he just showed up to summer school with his own TV.
Or they didn't.
I know White Hall probably wasn't the most technologically advanced back then,
but you would have thought you have the little box TV on the cart.
You roll it in.
You watch the Apollo 11 mission, which that's a very fun documentary,
the one that they did in 2019.
Part of me wants to throw the flag on Bob's story.
Yeah, throw it.
Please throw the flag.
Kevin Griffey's senior year was 75.
This was 69.
This was 69.
So I don't think he would have been in school for six years.
Uh-oh, Bob.
I'm just throwing the flag on the that unless Kevin Grevy was a six-year student.
So maybe he was another guy named Kevin Gravy.
Maybe.
You're telling me, Bob, isn't being truthful?
I love Bob.
I'm going to choose to believe it.
His memory may be a little off on this one.
I just have this image of Kevin Grevy walking around with a big TV under his arms.
And he just everywhere he goes, he plugs in and watches whatever's on.
That's what I'm going to choose to believe.
It's the equivalent of the boombox in the 90s.
I guess when you're the star basketball player, you can just show up with your own TV.
Do whatever you want.
Who's up next, Shannon?
It's good of Roy.
Hello, Roy.
Hey, fellas, how's it going?
Excellent.
So I got two things for you.
My first question is, in your opinion, who is the best dress Kentucky football coach we've ever had?
My wild card would be Rich Brooks.
He was always a gentleman, always had lots of class.
I think Frank Hersey wore the tie on the sideline.
Yeah.
Frank, Frank Hersey, that whole 70s era, art still.
They'd have the meat coat.
Like, they had some swagger back then.
Probably because they were paying everybody, and it was against the rules.
But they had some swagger back in the Frank Cursey era.
You talked to some of the ladies back in the 70s.
Fran Cursey had some major swagger.
Like, he was a heartthrob.
Like, look at that guy.
Do you like our pick of Fran Cursey there?
Or you sticking with Rich Brooks?
Man, Rich Brooks had this two-tone sweatshirt.
It was blue on top and gray on the bottom.
And, of course, I grew up on Brooks as a kid.
I cannot find that sweatshirt anywhere.
I would love to have it super vintage.
Yep, I agree.
Appreciate the call.
That Music City Bowl era,
Woods and all those guys,
that's still my favorite UK uniform,
some good swag there.
It's kind of coming back as throwbacks now.
Mario probably goes down to vintage therapy
and buys it all up,
all that look from that era.
But I like the Brooks pick.
Wouldn't Claiborne?
Didn't he rock some sweaters?
Yeah.
Bill Curry is the one who I think of what I think of.
Bill Curry is a good one.
Loved some sweaters.
Bill Curry,
great human, better human than football coach.
Yes.
We can say that?
What a nice guy.
You know, when people die, they say, you know, he was an even better person than player.
Usually, it's like, no, they were great players.
That's why we're talking about them.
Bill Curry, better person than football.
What about the Mark Stoops slimming black look?
You know, he'd wear a lot of black.
And when he was in his best shape, he'd bring out the blue tucked in.
when he's, you know, working in a few too many, what's that coffee he would drink?
Oh, he would drink the whole milk.
Yeah. When he had too many of those, we'd go a little baggy or black.
Does he fit into the equation?
I love the jacket selection for the catwalks because they got...
Oh, I didn't think about catwalk.
Remember the camo one he pulled out for the Logan?
Stoops is a great dresser on the catwalk.
Yeah.
He should be included in this conversation.
He was shopping at Logan's of Lexington.
Oh, absolutely.
He was going up on those sports coats.
Much better dresser during the catwalk than he would be on a daily basis.
Yeah, then he'd lock him.
And now we got Will Stein just rocking Power K all the time.
There's going to be a time about 15, 20 years from now
when Stoops is back in town for something,
and he's going to take his hat off,
and all that hair is going to be gone.
And I'm going to see, Mark, I'm glad you finally made it, brother.
You came home, man.
One of your finest moments in KS on the SEC Media Days a few years ago.
Well, we'll take more calls like that,
and Nick and I and Ryan are going to break down the road games in the football schedule.
Oh, yeah.
We're going on a road trip.
We've got to plan our SEC road trip this fall.
Let's do it.
We'll be right back after this.
Last night, a blown call changed a game.

Steve Burns, Dustin Ross,

Are you a good person because you're afraid?
Because that's two different intentions, bro.
Absolutely.

This is Cliver Taylor the Fourth.
And on my podcast, The Cliverts Show, I'm bringing you.
you conversations about all kinds of stuff.
Like being an internet famous referee.
We're in the middle of a game.
This linebacker, this linebacker walks up to me.
He goes, hey, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her.
What?
Time out.
Quarterback on office blue of 42.
Hey, rep, my mama want you to wave at her.
What?
Hey, Miss Parker.
Listen to the Clifford show on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your
podcast. Welcome back to Kentucky Sports Radio. Drew Franklin with Ron Lemon, Nick Rausch,
and Shannon the dude. Got a big birthday party going on, guys. I feel I'm not prepared. I didn't
bring my party hat, but Jack from Flemingsburg just walked in with the crew of boys,
celebrating a 12th birthday party. There is. Jack, happy birthday. Happy birthday, Jack. Y'all stay out of
trouble back there. There we go. It looks like a fun group of guys. Great dairy queen in
Flemingburg. Oh, they do have maybe one of the best in the state. You're exactly right about
Just think he had to drive past that to come here for his birthday.
It's true.
It was a lot.
But happy birthday to Jack and the boys back there.
So are they skipping school today?
I wasn't going to say anything, but it would seem that way.
It could be spring break.
It could be there.
Yeah, we're getting the spring break territory.
Yeah.
I mentioned that we're going to go over the football schedule.
This is a shorter segment with a hard break.
So I'm going to knock out some calls and we'll do that next because I know Rouse is excited to teach us about road trips.
But for right now, let's get some more phone calls, Shannon.
Who's up next?
All right.
All right.
Let's go to Sam.
Hello, Sam.
Hey, guys.
How's it going?
Going well.
I just wanted to ask real quick, get off topic, go back to Bob Ross.
Yes.
You know, for every show, Bob Ross painted three identical paintings, and that they haven't
sold any of them, and the first time coming up for sale is this summer.
Oh, whoa.
I want to get you a Bob Ross original.
Oh, you're telling me I can get a Bob Ross original?
Why did you do three paintings?
Educate me on that for each show.
There was one, a finished product, the in-work product, and I'm a,
I'm not sure what the third one was, but yeah, for us closet Bob Ross fans, it's a really interesting thing.
But the conservatory is having the first auction ever for Bob Ross stuff this summer.
So you're talking millions are probably going to be coming out of that.
Oh, man, this is the best thing you could have said to me.
I can't afford that, but I would like to dream that I could one day own a Bob.
Well, the way I understand it, too, is he practiced so much to get it just right.
So he would have many different iterations.
But, yeah, I'm seeing online that a few of them have sold another,
auctions for a couple hundred grand here or there.
So I don't have that.
Yeah, you got daycare to pay for.
That's true.
That's true.
I appreciate the call.
I love that.
There's a legend about Bob Ross I was going to ask you about.
Okay.
Somebody sent us a note that said, every painting, if you put them together back to back to back,
is one continuous scene.
Like, that's why it looked like he was painting the same scene over and over.
But if you put them together, it's like the river running through the mountains.
It's all one.
It's a journey.
It's a journey.
I don't know if I believe that, because there's got to be just hundreds and hundreds of paintings.
I think somebody could just make a footbook out of all of the paintings.
You'd make it look like that.
But you know what?
I would like to think that Bob Ross was playing 10 steps ahead.
That's right.
Of all things to stick from doing the show this week.
The Bob Ross thing, it's really been overwhelming.
You never know what's going to hit, but definitely there's an audience for Bob Ross people like you.
They just, there's so much joy in painting.
Yeah.
Abby and I had our first ever fight last night and involved Bob Ross.
You know, we've never fought as a married couple.
We get along great, but last night I had to go do an airport pick up.
up late airport pickup i was there at like 1230 when i came home she was watching bob ross and
david out of me and i was like to think i didn't want to watch this episode you know when you
got your loved one you can't be going ahead on tv so i walk in and she's just watching watching happy
trees without me especially one of those shows where you you have no idea what's going on if you
if you missed any of them i know i'm like i'm not here being a good citizen doing a little airport

S bomb it's been both times that I've been here that's true I'm bringing the curse words
that's how was that was a school teacher the school teacher's a school teacher
in front of his students he's in class we're a school
Was that a student?
I don't know.
Shan, appreciate you being quick to the dump button there.
Just wondering what was going on.
It sounded like some activity in the background, some education going on, and then we got a potty mouth.
I don't know what was going on there.
I still remember it was fourth grade.
The first time I heard a teacher cuss at us.
And it's because during the 9-11 memorial service we had, I may or may not have ripped a very, very loud fart.
Oh, my goodness.
Yeah, so after the service, he asked why I was acting like such a damn clown.
And I couldn't be like, ooh, you said a curse word because I was, yeah.
You were that guy.
Inappropriate flatulence.
My favorite teacher, Michael D. Lowry, seventh grade.
I love him.
I've misbehaved from time to time, guys.
Not going to lie.
Come on.
I was never too far, but I'd get a little chatty in the back.
Might have to pull a prank or two.
Didn't pay a lot of attention.
he had to give me the damn word one time too
so I get it sometimes you'd be told
but what that guy just said on radio
we can't be happy to say it I think it is in trouble
this is year like 15 for me
I've yet to I'm gonna knock
I've not I've not been dumped yet
I know Matt's even let one slip
we've had you right you were dumped
just a month ago at the SEC
I have not seen you since Ryan but
what the hell man
he was filling the crowd we're in Nashville
excitement
during that commercial break I looked at Drew and like
I can't believe I just said that
They just kind of just slipped out.
I've been dubbed twice.
That was my second time.
It's the Michael Scott gift.
Sometimes you start a sentence and you don't know what you're going to say.
Shannon, you're an old pro.
Have you had to hit the button on yourself before?
22 years in radio, I never have.
See, me and you a couple of pros.
Matt and Ryan are just always out of control.
We're keeping everybody in line.

breeze. I had a new order come in, a new set of gummies, Ryan. Already given them out. Everybody,
it's like my family knows when my gummies hit the mailbox and I have to have to share.
First of the month, here they come. We've got to go to Drew's house, see what he's gotten
in the mail today. Yep, I had them in my possession for about 12 hours yesterday. Then I had
to spread the wealth. Coming up, we're going to do the football schedule. Nick Rouse. You're
going to walk us through it.
You want to do, we're going to plan a road trip because I know you all love KSR road trips.
We got some great ones.
There's some good ones this year.
Yeah.
Yeah.
It's going to be a good time.
And you get to do all these.
You and Adam Luckin.
I don't usually get to make these trips.
I'm excited to hear what you're excited about.
We'll be right back with football schedule talk after this.
T.J. Smith, personal injury attorney.
Call T.J.
He'll make them pay.
Now, more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage.
Here's Matt Jones.
Here's not Matt Jones.
I'm Drew Franklin filling in for Matt with Ryan and Nick Rouse, Shannon the dude.
We're having fun here at KS. Bar and Grill.
I just met Clara over there.
She's got a birthday coming up, and she just finished her visit around UK.
Another shout out from here at KS. Bar and Bill.
She did the whole tour.
Her dad, Gator, is a friend of mine.
And they're up from Cincinnati area, came down here to tour the campus.
And now they're going to Bellarmine this afternoon.
Nick gave some great advice when touring Bellarmine.
Just park at the top of the hill.
You don't need to walk down to see the field.
It's a steep climb up.
I think I need to go on a tour of U-Kase campus.
It's not the same campus that I went to.
I'm leaving here and going to the student center at noon if you would like to go.
You can go be the old guy walking around the student center with me if you would like to join.
I'm sure that's a comfortable situation.
Is Abby still working?
Yeah, she's over there.
We're going to have a little lunch.
Nice.
Say hi.
Is it a chifelaisal there?
It better be because that's where we're going.
Okay.
It's not.
I got to readjust on the fly here.
It was a race to get the, when they would roll out the spicy biscuits at the old students.
See, sometimes I go over there and meet her and I do the champions, the whole
the big cafeteria where the kids are, you know?
You can go get a little taco with some Chinese and a slice of pizza.
They just have everything.
You swipe in.
Oh, I love swipes.
So I'll be roaming around as the old guy.
I got to tell Nick my Bellarmine story, if you don't mind.
I don't mind anything.
They were big rivals for Kentucky Wesley when I played baseball at Weston.
GLVC.
Oh, GLVC.
Yeah.
So we have to come to Bellarmine every spring.
And Shannon knows this because he played there.
You know this.
The baseball field kind of sits down from a hill, the bottom of the hill.
I played left field.
the Catholic students at Bellarmine would bring their beer
and sit on the hill right there right by left field
and yell at me the whole game.
Sounds like a great time.
Hey, who left the hat out in left field?
De Plain, de plane, boss, de plain!
I mean, it was non-stop.
For the double-header, they picked on me the old day,
so I hated playing there, Bellarmine.
I love that.
Between that and Derby, you get picked on a lot in the city of Louisville.
Yes, you're right about that.
We had two more things quickly
because we have to get to this football talk.
crutch told us, I love when this happens. Someone called the bar, which isn't, I mean, it's affiliated with the radio show, but the sweet young college kids at the door, they can't handle radio show topics. But someone called in to correct us on Kevin Grevy, but they were not right. The collar-toe crutch Grevy graduated college in 71. No, he was older 75th. Graduated college in 75. All-American. Graduated high school in 71. So we figured out, Bob's talking about it was a high school summer class.
class.
Because Bob's from Ohio,
Grevy's from Ohio,
so Bob and Kevin Grevy were probably in a summer high school math class.
Even better that he's carried his own TV in high school.
Yeah, and carried his own TV in to watch the moon landing.
I had to make up hours at Madisonville North Hopkins.
We don't have to get into that, but I packed a PlayStation with me one time,
so I get it.
Sometimes you just got to bring your own electronics to school.
It happens.
A lot of learning getting done in summer school.
One more thing I have to bring up.
It's not breaking news by any means,
but I always talk about how I like how Will Stein and the staff are active on social
media.
Yes.
You know, the last regime.
They did a lot of good things, but they weren't really that interested.
Mark Stips is shadow band on Twitter.
Yes.
But Will Stein's been good about shouting out former players,
alums, and all of that.
Today, he's tweeted a picture just now with Craig Yeast at practice today,
which just really opens the door for you to do your Craig Yeast impersonation.
Craig Yeast.
You know what, Tim Katch's name is up there at Commonwealth Stadium because of me.
Craig Yeast.
Perfect.
But I love Will captioned it legend.
You know, he had Andre Woodson there a few days ago.
I love that he's doing this, and Stoops did this too,
but I like that he's putting it out for fans to just have more to be excited about.
Well, Stein, you looked up to these guys.
He was a fan.
He was coming to watch games when Craig Geese and Tim Couch were playing in some of these guys.
He gets it.
He understands how excited we give and we see Benny Snell walk in the restaurant or somebody.
I don't think he'll go on the record and say it,
but the way he talks about Raphael Little makes me think that that was his favorite player.
Maybe it was.
Because Little is also one of those that gets overlooked.
because he dealt with injuries.
He was skinny.
He was a little undersized.
That team had a lot of stars, too.
A lot of names.
But he, I mean, the reason why he was so awesome is because he did everything.
I mean, it was like 1,000 rushing yards, 600 receiving yards.
Maybe not to the same statistical output as A.D.W.
Yes.
But Little, absolute stud.
From the same high school in South Carolina were radio.
Radio.
Yeah.
I remember radio came to a home game when Raphael Little was here
and led Kentucky onto the field when Raphael Little was right behind,
holding his hand wire behind him.
Look at us taking a stroll down memory lane.
Well, I am going to take a brief on because I want to tell you all,
if you're thinking about doing these SEC road trips,
I've been to many of the locations, I can come with recommendations.
Because let's be honest, it's going to be tough,
but we're not scared, we're not going to church.
We're hitting the road to watch the Wildcats,
and the one that I think is most ripe for an upset this year.
That would be the most satisfying road win is one where we've seen plenty of roadwinds before.
South Carolina.
Yes.
Ryan's favorite place.
I hate South Carolina.
So between the two of us, it has been a House of Horrors, Ryan.
Yeah.
The year, I don't know if it was the same road trip that you got punched in the face.
I think that might have been the same year that I got in a fender bender.
It was pulling, it was in the mountains, pulling off, and somebody side swipe me.
Hit me in the back, banged up the quarter paddle.
We duct tape the bumper back up.
We go to the gate.
We drive with the duct tape bumper the rest of the way.
It was one of those things.
They wrote me a ticket for getting hit.
The cops said I didn't have to pay it, and then when I went to go get my real ID,
they told me that my license has been suspended for the last two years for not paying a ticket for getting hit.
Wow.
Also got pulled over on that trip.
The South Carolina.
It's not.
But it is a fun place to go to.
From a game perspective, because A, the atmosphere underrated, one of the best in the SEC.
Like you talk about all the other big stadiums.
South Carolina Williamsbride Stadium at night, it's awesome.
It's a lot of fun to be in there for that.
those games. Before I got punched, it was incredible. It is the environment is, it is one of the best in the
SEC. What a great story. Anything that starts with before I got punched. What a great way to lead
into your family. The other thing too, Drew, you know how it is for us older guys. Like all these
college towns have something. But South Carolina is similar to Lexington. It's the state
capital. So they have, they have stuff for old guys, right? Like we can go out and about and not feel
weird that we're at college bars. I've celebrated two Valentine's Days there. I used to, I haven't
done the football game but for many years
I would go for the basketball game I like
Columbia as a city
it was basketball team was rolling the cow got kicked
out there one time oh yeah the lobs but I made
that trip many times and Abby went with me
we've had fun there I had fun there as a
idiot bounced around tin roof and I'm
going on nice dates there's like an oyster
pearls the oyster bar pearls yeah oh that's a great
spot second floor great people watching
played wife or daughter that's a
that's a very fun
place to play that game we were on a date
it was kind of early in our relationship and some
one told me the oyster shooter record, and I said, okay, well, let's see if we can't break that.
Game on.
Hopefully, I still have the record.
Let's go over the actual road games, though, so our listeners.
So don't know the schedule.
We got, first up is at Texas A&M.
Correct.
These aren't in order of this.
I'm just skipping over the home games.
You got at South Carolina.
Then the first ever trip to Oklahoma is this year.
Then Tennessee and Missouri.
Roush, what do you know about Oklahoma?
Have you done your research on that?
I have not done my research, although our good friend at Sooner Scoop with On 3, Eddie
Radousovich. He's quite the cartoon character. I'm sure he will enlighten us to everything that Norman
has to offer. They're building a very fancy, schmancy basketball entertainment complex deal to go along with it.
All that basketball excitement down there. So much basketball excitement. I believe they were in the crown last night,
playing in the crown. So I don't know anything about War Memorial Stadium. That will be my first trip down there.
We're not going to get a Stoops Bowl. Will Bob be there and really go out and boo Kentucky? So there's some weird dynamics with all that.
but it'll probably be ignored at the time.
So that's one I haven't been to, but the rest of these I have.
Columbia, Missouri, it gets hated a little bit.
Como's awesome.
Like, it really is.
The stadium's renovation, I think, should be finished by the time this game happens this year.
And it is late November, though, so you're going to have gray skies for an 11 a.m. local kick on an SEC network.
I can already pencil that in.
But going out on a Friday night there, they got like a greasy burger joint that's cash only,
so you know it's good.
Shakespeare's pizza is really good.
I once watched the Cubs, when they were in their World Series run,
I got asked to leave their Two Keys version.
Whatever their Two Keys is there.
Dollies, Dardies, something like that.
They politely asked me to leave the night before.
Because you're just being too nice.
Yeah.
We can't have all this kindness in here.
You have to go.
Yeah, yeah.
But Como is, it feels culturally different,
but it's a short drive.
I think it's one of the shortest you can get in the SEC.
So if Kentucky's playing well and maybe a bowl game could potentially be on the line,
that's a fun one to consider late November.
But the one, unless you're one of these, I want to try Oklahoma because I haven't checked it off my list.
I haven't never been there before.
Texas A&M.
Kyle Field.
We make fun of them for being a cult.
But when you're in the cold, it's pretty fun.
That's what most people in cult say.
It is how I imagine a European soccer game is.
where everybody sings, they do everything in unison,
and where the press box is located on top of the stadium,
I had to leave because I was terrified.
They have signs that say,
don't worry if the press box shake.
That's normal.
It's not going to fall down.
But you're still so high up,
and there's so many people,
and it's swaying throughout the game
that I ended up watching most of the game from the sidelines,
but the people there are incredibly nice.
A little weird, but incredibly nice.
110,000 people there rocking.
That's an awesome atmosphere.
Potential Jay Bateman Revenge game.
Maybe the defense stuff gets a bunch of big turnovers.
We took them to overtime the last time down there.
If Kentucky were to get away, that'd be great.
And the little strip of bars where Dixie Chicken and all that is,
it's only a stone's throwaway.
So Texas A&M, I can't say enough nice things about it.
It's easy flight to Austin or Houston from flight.
Come on.
Flight.
Well, you know, you fly.
Some people will just stay in Austin, and then they'll drive over for the game.
But college station is, I can't.
If I were to pick one road trip, it would be that one.
We'll be back in Oklahoma in a few years, but I love Texas City, and I love
Texas City, I know it's short. It's right down the road.
This is not, Drew, like you know, we don't like Tennessee,
but it is objectively the worst fan experience in the Southeastern Conference.
You park in a dungeon in their parking garages there, or a mile away up the hill,
and then you go into the stadium that's been cobbled together over 100 years.
It's crowded.
it's cramped. The concourse is like tiny. They're so tight. The concourse are so tiny. And then they just
try to pack you in. I don't think they got any chairbacks or anything. Neeland Stadium, it's a
complete garbage dump. I can't say enough bad things about it. Maybe it'll change when they
finish their entertainment district, but don't waste your time going there. But I will say,
though, all this talk at practice about going faster and playing faster, I think this coach is going
to be ready for that Tennessee game. Don't get us talked into that too much right now.
If you were to pick one road game to win, wouldn't that be the...
Oh, absolutely.
I'm picking Tennessee every time.
It doesn't matter the circumstances.
Sadly, Kentucky's only win in my lifetime in that stadium is during the COVID year.
And so I've never been able to see a Kentucky victory at Neon Stadium.
I've been told sometimes, Nick, just reel it back in.
You don't have to be so over the top, you know, just dial it back.
There will be no doweling it back if Kentucky wins at Neon this year.
Josh Heiple, oh.
Oh gosh, I need it.
I need it so bad.
I was there one year I went with my dad, Tennessee fan,
and there's a screenshot I have where Lona Sieber is kicking an extra point,
and behind the uprights, it's all orange, but one little dot of blue,
and that was me.
I'm the only blue shirt that you can see in the entire background of the end zone,
and Kentucky had a lead in that game,
and I was standing up on my bleachers yelling,
play Rocky Top Now, play Rocky Top Now.
I wanted all of the smoke, and then we lost,
and I had to eat all that crow on the way out.
But being the one person in the Sea of Orange, that was an adrenaline rush.
If you are a faithful Kentucky football fan, and you have never been on the road to watch the Wildcats,
I'm telling you, there is no greater feeling in the world.
There is no greater drug in the world than winning a road to SEC football game.
When Kentucky beat Ole Miss with Brock Vandergriff,
I was walking around, whatever they called the square or whatever.
Invincible.
I'm like the Spider-Man.
After he just, you can't be stopped.
You're on top of the world.
It's just drunk, sad people everywhere.
And you just, you're high-fiving everybody you see him blue.
It's the best feeling.
I know a lot of friends, they do an annual road trip.
If you're not in one of these annual road trips, go ahead and do it.
Because that's one of the fun parts about being in the SEC drew, right?
If we're going to play all these big teams and have these big games at Kroger Field,
going out and venturing out and experience some of the other ones,
it makes the experience more fun.
And one thing that Mark Stubbs did, too, he went out and he went out and he,
He won a lot of those games, and he made it to where when you showed up,
the guys like, old sturdy Dan, Danny, their crew, they would go to all those road games,
and they would sit through losses.
Stoop's got some wins.
To where you believe when you showed up, the cats had a chance.
And so I think Will Stein is going to bring that back after a couple of tough elves,
and I just, I'm so fired up.
I can't wait to be leaving a road stadium this fall after Big Kentucky victory.
I think back to on A&M, well, they had a couple trips in the 50s,
but the only one in modern history since they've been in the SEC,
that overtime game, the Josh Allen defensive play.
It's like in the back of the end zone.
It was like a superhuman effort to deflect the part.
We already knew how good Josh Allen was,
but I think that even added more to his legacy.
They just couldn't finish the job there in O'Tee.
Yeah, that was a big Chris Oates game.
He played well.
The UK fans that went to that game came back,
talk about how awesome it was, the environment, the fans,
everybody was, everything was awesome.
Nick and I were in Austin, what was that?
Two years ago?
Yeah.
So Texas just does it much bigger.
That felt like an NFL game.
Yeah, that was more of NFL, whereas Texas A&M is the college cult environment.
Great environment.
Should we go to the night before where they do their yell practice?
Yeah, no.
I mean, I went because I'm working.
It's KSR.
Let's take some pictures, video.
But it's a waste of time.
You're going to see it the next day.
It's easier to get drinks there.
Weird rule in Texas.
You can't get a pitcher of beer unless you have somebody with you or something.
It's like two drinks only.
That was a rule I learned down at College Station.
I'd be like a mannequin, like when people are driving in the lane where you've got to have two passengers.
Oh, yeah.
This is my friend Terry.
We'll take a picture.
Man, Eddie Grand, that game.
He tried to win with Terry Wilson.
It didn't work.
We had one big one button screen and that was about it.
Still a fun year, though.
Oh, yeah.
It's been a fun show.
We've got to take another break.
Oh, my gosh.
It's been flying by.
Wow.
It's fun talking ball.
It is.
We'll be right back.

One last segment here from KS Bar and Grill, Drew Franklin, Ron Lemon, Nick Rouse, Shannon, the
Dude.
Shane, we're talking during the break.
You're going on vacation next week.
Got some exciting stuff lined up.
You know, the Braves are out in Arizona.
I'm going to be out there, so I thought maybe you'd catch the Diamondbacks and the Braves.
Cool.
Is the Diamondback Stadium?
Is that the one that has the swimming pool out in center field?
I think it is.
Yeah.
I don't think they still do.
I'm just saying, you know, I always thought, who goes to a game and goes to the swimming pool?
But I guess if you have season tickets, maybe you do.
That is the place, but I was wondering, would you get in the pool?
Sounds like you wouldn't.
Probably not.
Again, if I had season tickets and I was there all the time, maybe so.
But I'm not going for a one-off just to go swimming.
I mean, I could do that in my hotel room.
But I've always wondered who got in there.
Anyway, this segment is sponsored by Draft King's Sportsbook.

We did have some updates from spring practice this morning,
officially at the midway point.
Safety's coach, Josh Christian Young.
He said that Martell's Carter,
former Paducah Tilman Blue Tornado stand out.
four-star talent at safety.
He's also dabbling with a little offense, playing a little running back this spring.
Is that because he's good at it or because they need someone else?
Well, he's a good athlete.
But the two portal additions, Kentucky had it at running back,
CJ Baxter and J. Vaughn'te Barnes.
They've dealt with injuries throughout their career.
You won't believe this, but the coaching staff,
they're not giving us an injury report for all this.
So they could be just a little wide and low.
We've seen highlights of Jason Patterson at running back.
It might just be like, hey, you know, we need extra bodies,
Martels, you're a great running back.
You go by C4.
C.J. Baxter, you go by C4.
Let's get all the C4s in the running
back room, and then they can all drink C4, and then
they can run even faster. I like the same
nickname C4. C4 squared, we should have.
I found another hole in
Bob and James Town story. Okay.
You know, I was on Bob's side. I'm probably
Bob's biggest fan on the show for being honest, and I
want to believe him, but we've now had someone
called a restaurant and tell us he's a liar.
And now a friend of the program, John Wong, on Twitter,
that the Neil Armstrong moon landing was at 11 p.m. at night.
Well, was he talking about the liftoff, though?
The liftoff could have been during daytime.
True.
That would make sense.
But just letting you know, people are skeptical out there.
People are skeptical of Bob from Jamestown?
It's hard to believe, but there are people out there that have doubts on that story.
Bob did say it was liftoff.
He said, grieving on the TV, and it came back in time to see it lift off.
All right, Bob, I'm back on.
I'm back on.
Shout out Neil Armstrong.
Shout on Wapok.
Our wives are from that area.
Yeah.
We both cross Ohio River
to find love in Ohio.
That's where I'm in my way after this.
Easter weekend celebration.
Ohio trip.
Yeah, yeah.
Going straight from here?
Yeah, should be a lot of fun.
So, you know, we're still got plenty of football coverage, though.
Coming up, Stein's going to talk Saturday.
First scrimmage of the spring.
First scrimmage, yeah.
So plenty of exciting updates.
If you want more football, talk to Adam Lek and I had a new
live in personnel.
We broke out.
I watched.
The top 10 spring standout so far.
And we got, you know,
we always get a little silly.
It's KSR, it's April.
We're not supposed to be serious.
We're supposed to be talking about moon landings, having fun.
The weather's beautiful outside.
The sports is kind of the off-season.
We're going to have some fun.
We're going to have some fun tomorrow.
Ryan's got a secret location.
I don't even know what it is, but we're going to be somewhere.
Pop-up show tomorrow on an undisclosed location.
Oh, that sounds like a lot of fun.
This was a fun one today.
Thank you, Nick Roush.
We'll be back tomorrow on Friday.
One more without Matt.
See y'all later.
Another podcast from some SNL late-night comedy guy.
Not quite.
Unhumor me with Robert.
Smygel and Friends, me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you
funnier. This week, my guest, S&L's Mikey Day and head writer, Streeter Seidel, help an
a cappella band with their between songs banter. Where does your group perform? We do some
retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter. Listen to humor me with Robert Smygle

Last night, a blown call changed a game. This morning, the internet lost its mind.
and nobody's telling you exactly what happened.
That's where SportsSlice comes in.
I'm Timbo, and every episode we're cutting through the noise,
breaking down the biggest moments in sports
and giving you the real story behind the headline.
And we're going straight to the source, the athletes themselves,
their locker room stories, their reactions in the moment,
and the stuff nobody gets to hear.

We're in the middle of a game.
This linebacker, this linebacker walks up to me.
He goes, hey, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her.
What?
Time out.
Quarterback on office blue with 42.
Hey, ref, my mama want you to wave at her.
