One of the biggest misconceptions about buying a home right now is that you have to wait for the perfect moment.
Perfect rates, perfect timing, perfect market.
The truth is, that moment doesn't really exist.
A lot of buyers pause because of headlines or assumptions, but every situation is different.
Race change.
market shift and personal goals matter just as much as what's happening nationally.
That's why talking to a local lender can be so valuable.

Drew yesterday.
You know, today at one, what do you call it?
finalizing the house what do you call it.
Close on your house.
Close on it.
And I met my neighbor yesterday.
Oh, how'd they go?
That's important.
Very important.
How important?
When I moved into my house.
I watched the show, so I guess I had no notion.
Both sides, I was great friends with.
I mean, they just walk in my house.
They wanted two.
They both moved out at about the same time.
My new neighbor's no relationship at all.
It's very different.
Seems like a nice guy.
He's got, I haven't met his wife, but met him.
He's got three kids.
Two of them are out of the house.
So one younger one.
one who we met yesterday.
Yes, we did.
Big UK fan came out in a hat with the whole team had signed it.
So that was nice.
You know, he seemed like he's very good, which is good because like I, so that's one.
It's good to have a friend of him for a little things.
And he gave me the like scouting of all the people around.
He went house to house.
He's like, there it is.
You'll never see these people.
These people walk a lot.
And everybody tells me the person on the other side of me, nobody knows.
Mysterious.
So there's usually that that house in a neighborhood
There's one house that people just don't know a whole lot about
They don't socialize much
Don't get to get much
I'm not going to socialize much
I hope those people know that
Well it's good to just if you have a good relationship
Little things like a package on your pool
Can you roll the trash up and they'll do it for you
You know he was like we'll
We'll leave a show shovel on the porch you can come take
So that's very nice
He seemed very cool
Yeah very cool now Ryan and I were roaming around the house
And I realized
an issue. I don't know how to work my own house. Okay. Is it a smart house? A lot happening.
All right. They gave me the remotes. A lot of remotes. A lot of remotes. And I don't know what they all do.
So Ryan and I were walking around trying to figure out, oh, how do I, what do I do here? Because everything's electronic.
It was kind of cool to kind of watch you kind of just figure it out on your own, you know?
Yeah. Well, well.
I have a fire.
What's that fireplace?
How do you do it?
I didn't see that button.
There's a button there.
You got to push.
I didn't find it.
I fixed my fireplace recently since you need me.
I'm not going to fix anything.
I mean,
my friend hubby is just going to have to get phone calls.
I mean,
I don't know how to turn these lights off and I need to go to bed.
But I didn't ask you this.
When you walked through it yesterday,
did you love it more?
Yeah.
I think so.
It had a room I forgot.
You got a perfect room for a studio.
I do.
I do have a TV studio room, which I like.
Perfect.
Yeah, but then it's like it hits you how much you have to do.
All those rooms have to be filled with something.
Like, for instance, turn the power on.
That's a big deal.
That's a big start.
All that stuff.
So you got all utilities switched over?
Not all, but most of them.
And then, you know, it's just, you don't realize, again, I don't, I guess I'm an adult.
Yeah.
Welcome.
You made it.
Yeah, you made it.
But I didn't realize.
It's just a lot of stuff.
But you've been doing a good job.
You got your landscaping.
guy, your pool guy, you're working on your house cleaner, all these things you're trying to
get ready to move in. I think finding a house cleaner, that feels like it would be hard. Oh, I've got a great
one. I'll send her to you. Okay. Because you got to be, you got to trust those people.
I would think. Yeah. I've been at my house for six years and stuff that I thought I was going to do
the first month or still on the two minutes. It just keeps piling up. Like there's going to be
nothing done. Like whatever, like I, it's just going to, I don't know how to do it. Okay, hubby's
list. Like, for instance, I learned, I just learned yesterday that I can't have a
washer that opens from the top. That's right. Because there's a counter there.
It's got to be a front loader. Now, luckily, I don't own a washer. So we can just start a new.
You got a lot of shopping to do. I was proud of you. You know, I got to have a front loader here.
It would have been bad if I bought a top one and then it couldn't open. Couldn't even get in there.
I would have been a mistake. I would have to turn it on its side. We opened up one door and I go. What's that? It's a wine cooler.
And then they left in the garage. I noticed they left all the paint. Yes, that's good. You want them to leave the paint so you can match it.
They left the paint.
When you paint?
I probably won't do a lot of paint.
Okay.
Right.
It really doesn't need painting at the moment.
No, no, no, I don't think it needs paint.
Just for when you punch holes in the wall and got to touch it.
I learned something yesterday, too.
I didn't know.
My neighbor told me.
You would think these would be things you know.
I hadn't really asked, like, where's the property line?
And I didn't know that out on the streets.
Yeah.
There are little dings.
Little pins.
Little pins.
A coin looking thing.
Yeah.
I've spent my whole life and never noticed those.
Are they on every street?
Pretty much.
All the neighborhoods, the newer neighborhoods especially,
have a pen out in the street.
So like what about older neighborhoods?
What do they use?
Do they have pins?
No, a lot of them, unless you had it surveyed for a fence,
they don't have that.
They'll put it in the grass a lot of times.
So my neighbor was like, this is the line.
There, you see that.
And I went, oh, don't cross it.
Yeah, and I said to him, get to the other side.
Back on, man.
Get over there.
And you know what is funny is like I sitting there looking at it
and I was looking at the other side of the house
and there is a fence there.
Yeah.
And like there's trees.
And I think he might have a tree.
And I was like, you know what?
That tree starts growing on the masses.
I was kidding.
But I could see how people end up getting in those situations.
And I'll be tackling him like all the guys and bold green.
Think, for example, if that tree was like over your fence and the dropping stuff,
into your pool.
That would tick you off.
Can't be doing that.
Lawsuit.
So, yeah.
So these, I, you know.
I'm excited for your first HOA call.
Yeah, I'm not going to be.
Where they're like, are you ever going to cut that grass?
No, I'm going to cut the grass.
Oh, yeah, I'm doing it for $75 in pool access.
You and I have already agreed as far as I can tell.
You learned another thing yesterday?
What else that was?
I didn't even know what that was.
Did you do you know about Central Vac?
You can plug things.
into the wall and it just
did you know this?
I didn't know about Central VAC.
I didn't know about it.
You told me,
but I guess there are little holes
in the wall.
All throughout the house,
you just plug your hose into these
holes.
You plug your hose.
What am I plugging in?
Your vacuum hose
into the holes.
Oh, H-O-S-E.
Okay.
Into holes.
Yeah.
And then when you plug it in,
it sucks air.
Wow, that's impressive.
I don't think I have Central VAC.
No, you don't.
He does.
So I don't have any of this show off.
Then I was like, well, where does it go?
So we went out in the garage and we showed him.
It goes in this tank right here in the garage.
You're going to have to unload that tank.
That sounds like another chore.
Where's that going to go?
In the trash.
I think that's a hubby problem.
I think you're going to have to call hubby.
It's on the hubby do list.
He's just going to have to move in for a little while.
He may have to do for a little while.
I'm not moving in immediately.
I'm going to take a little bit of time to kind of because there's nothing in it.
You got to go by.
It's not like if I just tonight, I would just sleep.
with a pillow on the floor.
That's kind of fun.
A lot of homeowners do that.
Who?
Who?
No furniture.
They'll go have like a little camp out in their new house.
Who does that?
Were you there when I hit a tennis ball in my empty house and hit the window and I thought
we broke it?
I would recommend doing that.
I'm not going to do that.
You live closest to, I thought it was me.
You're much closer to Billy.
So Billy is your first call.
That's true.
Right down the road from Billy.
I thought I was close to Billy.
You're very close to Billy.
So Billy is going to be in charge of fixing everything.
Billy can be there in like a matter of minutes.
I think Billy's already tired of having to clean up my.
my messes. Now he gets even more
that he has to. I mean, he's like bicycling
distance to you. I didn't know
that. I'm going to, I decide I was going to buy a bicycle.
It's good. You got a good neighborhood for it? It's a good
bicycle neighborhood. So anyway,
thank you to the realtor here.
I recommend Ryan Lemon Realty
services. Don't hire him for the fashion.
No. For what he
wears to these things. Oh, I'm aware.
Yeah, don't hire him for that. I got a nice
follow on today for the closing. Yeah.
But otherwise
he was great. He was very good. All right. One person
rights on the text machine, Matt, what
what difference does it make on
our spending or efficiency? There's no
cap limit. Why do we need to be efficient?
Great question. I think that's a fair question
because we don't have as much money.
So the reality is
we do not have, so last
year, Mark Pope,
let's talk about how this
progressed. Year one,
Kentucky went and got player, the
market for the portal
was not quite as wild in Pope's first
year. He's able to get a bunch of people,
They had money, lots of donors, because it's a new coach, people are excited.
It was easy to make it.
He has success.
Year two, they're like, let's go for a title.
Let's go spend the money to go for a title.
I think it's completely fair to say that they completely misread the market.
They way overpaid some players.
They didn't pay others.
And they ended up with whatever the amount was, I don't think it was 22 million.
But whatever the amount was, they paid a lot of money.
they didn't have the money raised that they needed to buy.
So they kind of at the last minute had to get donors to do it.
And I think some donors did it.
But with the, we ain't doing this again next year.
You're going to have to plan better UK for next year.
And I think UK has had for a year to try to set up so that what happened last year did not happen again.
And I think they have a very competitive amount of,
money, but I don't think they have the unlimited checking account that they had last year.
So things like efficiency now matter.
So to use the example, the Dodgers in baseball can just spend whatever they want.
Okay.
But the Yankees can spend a lot, but they now no longer will just spend whatever.
They spend more than most people, but they have like an efficiency thing.
I think you could make the argument that we are going to spend like.
the Yankees, but not like the Dodgers.
Whereas I do think there are a handful of schools that are kind of dodgery now.
St. John's, I think, has some Dodgers in them.
Texas Tech.
Now, they haven't won like the Dodgers, but they're able to spend like that.
Whereas we, because of what happened last year, are kind of in the Yankees.
People who know baseball better than me may know when the Cubs maybe are like that.
I don't know.
that will spend, but they're not just going to like overspin.
And that's really because last year it came time to write the checks and they didn't have,
they just had to like, please help us.
And they, and you know, listen, people who've been successful in business don't just want
to throw money away, right?
So now they're like, are you going to have to show me what you're doing here.
And that's why I think efficiency and those things matter.
Yeah.
Do you agree with all that?
Oh, yeah. There were a couple different parties last summer that had to step up and maybe even save some butts a little bit and help get the bank account what it needed to be.
And they can't expect that every year.
I think part of that is why they went out and got Keegan Brown to be the dorm, not the gym.
He's the dorm.
And then this new blueprint can also help them be more efficient.
If they use it.
If they use it.
But that was kind of why Brown is here to help real all that in and find the pieces that fit Pope's puzzle.
So, you know, everything that happens is kind of builds on what happened.
And I think Pope's goodwill is what allowed the insane amount of money spent last year.
But now the struggles this year have led to you don't have that same checkbook in year three.
That's just kind of reality.
So you think the quote that Jack Givens made after the season?
I think he's right.
I think people have taken that quote to think we're going bargain basement thrift shopping.
And I don't think that's true.
But I think we've gone from a situation where if we had killed it this year,
year, we might have become the Dodgers.
Didn't happen.
Where we could just go sign Shohei and sign mooky bets and sign whatever the guy was
they signed this year, just sign them all.
But we didn't have that success.
And so I think people are like, all right, we got to operate in the parameters of a
business here.
We'll still be towards the top.
But we are not just going to open the checkbook.
Yeah.
And that's where I think we are.
Let's go to, let's go to Matt.
Go ahead, Matt.
Hey, you guys had some really good shows while Matt was out.
I really enjoyed that.
Got a question for you.
Could Chandler leaving actually mean that he knows that we're getting some guys
and he's getting bumped down, maybe six or seven guy?
I don't think so.
I think he just got more money.
Okay.
Okay.
Everybody talked about it.
I think a lot.
I think I mentioned on the interrupted podcast talking about a different issue,
Occam's Razor.
Occam's Razor is going to be true about most guys in the portal.
Simplest explanation is usually right.
Somebody leaves, they got offered more money somewhere else.
That's probably generally going to be the case.
All right.
Last question.
Everybody talks about, you know, playing for the name on the front of the jersey.
Would anybody do a documentary or an interview and like actually talk to former players
to see good and bad people that have stayed in.
They've done that.
They've done that.
Problem is, and I appreciate the call,
those guys didn't get in I.L.
It's a different world.
You know, the reason why Jack Givens game here
really has very little to do with what's happening right now.
So, you know, I mean, you can do that,
but still at the end of the day,
a million more dollars is a million more dollars.
So.
Hard to turn that down.
Here's reality in Kentucky.
If people can't afford child care or place to live,
can't take jobs, stay in jobs, and businesses can't grow.
So we need childcare.
When parents can't find it, they're forced to cut hours or leave the workforce.

And thank you to Southland Lanes,
where you can also bowl for sponsoring and hosting this.
It should be a lot of fun.
One person writes, Matt,
one of the things I've learned from listening
this show over the years. As a matter of fact, the thing I remember the most
call before you dig. That's exactly right. That's right.
They always say that. I've been hearing that for
15 years. Call before you dig. I'm not going to
dig. Yeah. You're just going to get there and start digging.
You've got to have a shovel before you can dig. There's
not going to be any digging.
That Drew, Matt does have a big like
cabinet in his garage for his tools. Oh, nice.
Yeah, I got a lot of tools. Yeah.
I did, I was sitting there, one, where am I going to put up my
wrenches. And now I've got the, you know, the Phillips and the socket. The Phillips and the socket.
Yeah. Phillips and the screwdriver. Yeah. But I got Phil. I actually have a special Phillips wrench.
Okay. That's nice. Maybe when you have your housewarming party, we'll bring over more tools for you.
Everybody can bring it to it. Stock the garage. Most people do stock the bar. We'll do stock the garage.
You just stock the garage. That's a good idea. Yeah. I think that's a, that's a really good idea.
One person writes, Matt, you don't have a neighbor who rides an exercise bike in their driveway.
I don't, thankfully.
But that could be me.
You could set the tongue with your neighbors.
Sitting out there.
Be that guy.
I can be that guy.
I don't have that clothing, but, but, you know.
I can, you can borrow mine.
Don't, don't put that visual.
Lucas, go ahead, Lucas.
Ask anything Thursday.
Hey, Matt.
So, I have three.
things. I'll be quick if that's okay.
You could do two.
All right, two.
Okay. So first, I wanted
to thank Colin Chandler
for always donating his
NIO to the entire
homeless population. That's a good point.
He didn't go for more money.
He did it for the homeless in
Provo. That's a great point.
Oh, yeah, you're right.
You're right. You're right. And then hypothetically,
so if I had a buddy
named Paul
and he made a bet and lost
should he pay up
of course
Paul should pay up
the worst sign of character
for a person
is if they don't pay up on a bet
appreciate the call now
there's probably been bets on this show
I'm trying to think if there's something that I haven't
paid up.
I remember one time when I said I would throw a party
if we meet Louisville and football but it wasn't a bet
because like there was no
to use the phrase in law
there was no consideration.
Right, I wasn't getting anything in Kentucky lost.
And we didn't do it.
And I still feel like I owe that to the people.
But now I worry it would be too big.
You didn't put a timeline on it.
I didn't.
But maybe that'll be the goodbye party.
Now you have a house, you could throw it in.
And everyone's not coming to mind.
But yes, Paul and everyone that makes a bet, Ryan, you have to pay it up.
Sounds like Paul's probably a buddy.
So that makes it even more so he needs to pay his bet.
And if you need the public pressure of KSR saying Paul pay the bet,
unless it's illegal,
Paul pay the bet.
Mike, go ahead, Mike.
Hey, guys, I got two things real quick if I can.
One on Colin, one on Stokes.
But the Colin Chatter thing,
and I wanted him to stay.
But, you know, we talked about the roster all last year,
and you can't get him $30 million.
You know, people forget,
Cam Williams took his spot early
and probably would have kept his spot.
That's a good point.
If it wasn't for the injury.
That's a really good point.
People do forget that,
self-included. You're right, but go ahead.
But you can't, well, on Chandler, you just can't,
he can't be. He's like a fourth starter, in my opinion.
But on Stokes now, here's my thing on Stokes,
I think there's no Yaxel in the portal this year.
So I think he's the best player available.
And not only that, he fits Pope's system so well.
He kind of reminds me like, if I was putting a player comp,
I'd say Scotty Pippen, he's a point forward, he's an excellent pastor.
and I don't think he'll be a problem with Pope because I think he fits Pope's system perfectly.
And I think the donors will get excited and may spend some doctor money to bring him in.
I think those are all really good points, actually.
I appreciate the call.
I think when you're evaluating Stokes, you need to remember that a lot of times the way players
and the situation is off the court, people then transform it onto the court.
So there's no doubt Stokes has been a lot.
the Stokes aura and the people around him.
But on the court, he's a very unselfish player who can pass really, really well.
You know, people will tell you Darren Peterson is a great guy off the court,
but on the court kind of would play selfishly sometimes.
I'd rather have the opposite.
A dude who's a little, a lot to handle off the court,
but on the court's everything you would want.
trying to thinking who are guys at Kentucky that maybe were a lot off the court, but once the game started, you were like this dude's unself-Demarcus.
Yeah.
Great example of that.
You know, there was some stuff you had to deal with with DeMarcus.
But once the game started, DeMarcus was as good a teammate as you could have.
I kind of wonder if Stokes Drew is a little bit like that.
I think on the football end, like a Len Bowden.
Lynn Bowden, great example.
Lynn Bowden's the best example.
A ton of stuff you had to deal with.
but not one player on that team wouldn't say he'd give anything once the game started
and would do whatever.
Yeah.
That's a great.
That's the best example.
Thank you.
I worked hard on that one.
Stokes is a passer.
I know he's completely different than Amari.
But when the Pope's first team was rolling, they had great cutters.
And Amari was hitting those no look passes.
Stokes has a little bit of that in him where he can make that flashy pass that I think has a lot
of fans excited.
Even though he's a wing, he could move over and play a little point forward too.
Yeah.
And you know that Matt caller may be right.
Maybe there are some donors who are like,
hey, this is number one player in America.
He's our new John Wall.
Let's get him.
All right, fine.
I'm in.
That could happen.
Zach, go ahead, Zach.
Yeah.
Just to piggyback kind of off of the portal stuff there,
the way I think about it is like this.
Players, one through five,
are obviously elite.
And
one through five
and like 20 to 25
is big.
But I think the gap
from like 50 to 80
is not that big.
I think the price tag is.
That's another great point.
I think the gap from 30 to 80
is not that big.
But you're right.
The price point is.
You're exactly right.
And it, like we were talking about
like building the team here,
I think if you just go get like
the dude,
whoever the dude,
is. This year it's Stokes.
Last year it was the actual. Whoever the dude is,
go get the dude, and then let's go
get, like, guys, like, 50
through 80, and let's fill it in,
and let's see what we got there. Because
we went with 20 to 25 guys,
and 30 to 35 guys last year, and you see what
happened. So that's it. I'll hang up.
Two great calls. I appreciate the call. That's the
Will Stein philosophy. Feed the studs.
Yep. Will Stein's like, give me five to six
studs, and then I'll build around
them. Maybe that's,
where we're going to end up with Pope too.
We'll see.
We'll take a break.
Be right back.
KSR.
Yeah, we're sitting here talking about what my new restaurants are going to be.
Because the places I eat now, I'm just like they're going to disappear, at least for most of the time.
You know, like the, what's the, what's the taco place downtown?
The fancy one.
I ate there quite a bit.
A gove and right.
Gove and rod.
Oh, yeah.
Love a govian, right.
Out of my league.
It's gone now.
It's too far away.
Maybe after a show.
The pizza play godfathers.
Good fellows.
Good fellas.
Sorry.
I mean, I can't do that anymore.
It's too.
Whole new world out there in Hamburg.
Yeah, I don't know what's going to be out there.
The whole new world.
Yeah.
But, you know, it's all right.
Grow up.
When one door closes and other opens.
Like the Chapoet Lane.
I'm not,
but I'm going on record.
Not going to Costco.
I'm out on Costco.
Yeah.
I'm out.
And it's right there.
But I hate it.
I do not need 48 toilet paper rolls at a time.
It is literally the good night.
Do you like hot dogs?
No, I don't like anything about it.
I just feel like I feel like I'm pigs going to a trough getting in there.
You're close to Cabellas?
Are you going to go to Cabellas a lot?
That's what, like, hunting and all that.
I mean, I don't have a lot of hunting supplies I need, but, you know, I might go in for the ambiance.
You were gone last week, but there was big news about the.
area out there. They're going to build a road
from Sir Barton to Polo
Club and it's going to go under
I-75 and a tunnel
go under. So you can avoid all
the man of war traffic. You go
from Sir Barton Way.
Why is everyone laughing? No, it's true.
Why is Mario laughing at you said?
Ryan did a very thorough Lexington traffic report last
week. We were trying to follow on.
You care a lot about that, right?
It's my mayoral campaign.
No, we had a segment on the road changes.
You did a whole segment on
road changes? Yeah, what they're getting ready to do.
What do you do with this show when I leave?
It affects me tremendously.
You just do things that affect it.
You just do, oh, the traffic's going to be better on a road for me.
They're building a tunnel under I-75.
That's big for you guys.
I understand.
That's big for you and Drew.
I don't, I have no opinion.
But the people listening in Somerset right now probably don't have strong opinions about
the tunnel.
Speaking of Somerset, we're at Don Franklin,
tomorrow.
Don Franklin Hyundai.
Don Franklin Hyundai tomorrow.
There's like six Don Franklin's there with a Hyundai.
So come to the Hyundai one. We'll party.
It'll be a Hyundai.
It'll be exciting.
And so we hope to see everyone tomorrow at Don Franklin.
And again, you might be there when Drew gets the baby.
I might be running out of there.
That would be so exciting.
Where did we get on the helicopter usage or the Pulaski police escort?
I was told that the Pulaski police are understaffed.
Okay.
Somebody wrote me and said the Pulaski Sheriff's Office told people in the rural parts of Pulaski,
we can't come.
which I don't believe they would do that.
Like KSR can't go to Don Franklin?
No, no.
If you got hurt in the rural parts of Pulaski County, it's up to you.
Oh, got you.
I can't believe they would say that.
I can't be like, there can't be lawless zones of Pulaski County.
I find that hard to believe.
There's a four mile stretch that's the purge.
Whatever happens, we're out.
I find that hard to believe.
So, so yes, you, we also, you could bring Abby,
some person that has a hospital in case something happens.
We have a pretty big doctor's appointment tomorrow.
She should probably attend that.
But I've heard good things about the summer.
I have no doubt they're great.
We just have got a good system we're already involved with over the UK.
Got it figured out pretty well.
You have to adjust the systems.
Billy, go ahead, Billy.
Half time.
And John...
Hey, fellas.
I've got somebody to suggest to you to look at his film.
And that's Ted and Moor out of Western.
Are you familiar with him at all?
No.
Well, look at your film on him.
and he shoots over 50% from the field, about 41% from 3.6.5 plays like he's 6'8.
He's not shy about contact.
How many points did he score this year?
I'm sorry?
How many points a game did he score at Western?
18 points something.
Okay, what's his name?
And he's from Dry Ridge, Kentucky.
Yeah, I'm looking him up now.
Dryridge.
I appreciate the call.
Dryridge has the best taco bill in the state.
by the way.
I don't know if he's in the portal,
but first I've heard of him,
but if you're just looking at stats,
he does have some impressive stats.
They have the best Taco Bell at Dry Ridge.
KFC combo.
Can't say enough good things about the Dry Ridge Taco Bell.
What makes it so good?
Fresh.
You know, sometimes different locations change.
I got smacked down for my McDonald's location.
And let me just say,
when I drive by certain McDonald's now,
don't seem as many as many people.
Uh-huh.
While you were gone last week,
I had the worst McDonald's experience of my life. No, I'm just saying, but it fits your bill of
like how they don't all line up. They don't all line up. There's a huge difference. And there's
nothing, there's nothing more clear than when you get a Diet Coke off Herod's. See,
what am I going to do without having that Herodberg Road die? When I go to the bar, KS Bar,
then I still have that one. But on the other side of town, I don't know what those McDonald's
are like out there. Yeah. I've got a ranking of them. We've got one that's pretty good,
not too far from you.
Okay.
You have to tell me where that is.
Let's go to Justin.
Go ahead, Justin.
Yes, this is Justin from Madisonville.
Shout out.
Shout out.
Well, first of all, I had a comment, then a question.
I'll let you go.
I heard you talk about Taco Bell, for one thing.
And, you know, that's the last fast food restaurant.
I know where you can actually get a lot of food for, like,
$10.
And the one in Madisonville is actually extremely well.
Well, good.
We're doing Lexington Roads and Madisonville Taco Bell.
Go ahead.
Okay.
My second, my second, the question I had for Matt is, I know you're a big Cincinnati Reds fan.
And so am I.
I've been following them since the days of Eric Davis when I was a kid.
And so they're eight and four now.
They play the Marlins today.
early game.
Do you think this can last?
No, not yet.
No, not at all.
That's why I'm enjoying it right now.
I appreciate the call.
I just want you to go look.
I'm going to pull up real quick.
Can I read you the schedule that the Reds have in September?
Okay.
Because it's easy for April.
So you must be saying.
Relatively easy for April.
But let me read you their September schedule because I look.
Here are the series they play in.
order. Padres Brewers, Dodgers, Brewers, Dodgers,
Cubs, Braves, Blue Jays. They may not win a game in the whole month of September.
That's their September. So like... So celebrate now. And we, and while I'm enjoying them,
they have the second fewest runs scored in the league. Now they are eight and four.
So... But they may have one of the easiest schedules for April, I heard. Yeah,
it's really, but everybody good is in September. So... That's crazy. So no. I
I'm not confident yet, but you got to enjoy it because by September,
I'm on the Stein train anyway, right?
You'll have already given up on the road.
I will give up probably in mid-May.
So like this weekend series against the Angels, I'm excited to go because like it's in
where I'm still into it.
But, yeah, when I saw that September schedule, I was like, yeah, forget it.
If you want a road trip to Atlanta, though, we'll go.
Okay, I'm in.
Cold plunging astronaut.
Go ahead.
Hey guys, thanks for taking my call.
I have a couple questions, get your perspective on something.
Do you think it's coach speak on behalf of Pope to say, you know, more or less, we've heard this a little bit over the years, the last couple years.
You know, we want players to play for the name on the front of the jersey when in reality, like, does a dollar cost of this?
I think that mentality is, I appreciate that Pope said.
it, but I think that mentality is kind of...
So do I think a player should play for the front of the jersey?
Yes, but that's not what gets them here.
So my view is the message should be we come here because this is,
we're going to make this a great place for you.
And then once you're here, we'll teach you the history and to play for the front.
But I don't think playing for the front gets people here.
So when they say we want guys that play for the front, that's not how you get guys.
Now, once they're here, though, I heard Dusty May say, and I thought this was a really good perspective after they won the title.
He said, I looked at these guys in recruiting because he started five transfers.
And he said, I told all of them, come here for yourself.
And then when you're here, do it for us.
To me, that's the mentality.
Does that make sense?
Yeah, certainly.
Do you think it was ever the case, particularly in the days prior to NIL,
but that would have been more recruiting reliability?
The farther you go back, that probably meant more.
I think once Cal got here, it was about the NBA, and that worked for him, right?
But now, that mentality, and I appreciate the call that Dusty May said,
come here for you, win for us together.
That's got to be the message.
And clearly worked for Michigan.
And Ryan,
I think it just seems kind of intuitively a good message.
It's a great message.
And the secret is you've got to get those guys that will buy into that.
Yes.
And there's got to be,
I mean, one thing I wonder about the whole analytic thing
is there's something in there for knowing whether or not they'll do that.
Yeah.
Is there an analytic for that?
I don't know.
But there's so many players that came there for themselves or Cal,
Wall and Cousins were going to follow Cal wherever he went.
But once they got here, they fell in love and they still love it to this day.
And that goes for most of the players that come in.
They are a great example.
I like that you said that because Wall and Cousins,
they would have followed Cal to play at any school in America.
They did not come here for Kentucky.
But now those two guys love Kentucky.
Yep.
That's the goal.
The goal is that.
And that's what Pope needs to try to sell.
Now, he may not be selling them to Wal and Cousins because they were coming for the NBA.
Maybe these people come for the NIL or whatever.
But then once they're here, O'A, I think.
O'A came and stayed because of the check.
But I guarantee you, O'A, loved his time here.
Yes.
I think we're going to see him come back a lot like to these guys.
So it doesn't matter so much like, you know,
If somebody falls in love with you,
if somebody falls in love with Mario,
because they think he's handsome,
but they'll stay because he's a good guy.
There you go.
Because he ain't going to be handsome forever.
Right.
I don't know.
He could be.
He takes care of himself.
Moisturizes.
He does moisturize a lot.
Let's be honest.

And on my podcast, The Cliverts Show, I'm bringing you conversations about all kinds of stuff.
Like being an internet famous referee.
We're in the middle of a game.
This linebacker, this linebacker walks up to me.
He goes, hey, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her.
What?
Time out.
What?
Quarterback on office blue 42.
Hey, Rick, my mama want you to wave at her.
What?
Where's she at?
Hey, Miss Parker.
Listen to the Clifford show on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast.
Welcome back, Tegi Sports Radio.
Rick, people are telling me that during that last segment it would just go to commercial for five or ten seconds and come back.
Are you doing something, Rick?
I'm not doing anything.
It sounds fine on my end.
Well, they're blaming you.
That doesn't surprise me.
I'm not blaming you.
It's the people.
Do you have a message to the people?
I'm not touching anything.
Everything sounds fine on my end.
Rick's message.
I'm not touching anything.
I like that message, Rick.
Be strong and clear.
It ain't on me.
I don't touch anything.
I'm not supposed to touch.
Okay.
Good.
Rick, I've gotten a lot of praise for your contributions this week.
Really?
appreciate that.
One person writes, Matt, I would like you to pick a topic.
And the first person that gets to give their opinion is Rick.
All right.
I like this.
What do you think about that, Rick?
That sounds interesting.
Okay.
Rick, what is your take on the fact that last week,
someone stole 12 tons of Kit Katz?
I'd say they have a sugar problem.
Oh, you think one person stole it for their own consumption?
Probably.
That's a lot of Kit Katz.
Wow.
I have a theory on this, by the way.
Everybody's heard this story by now.
Yeah.
You want to know my theory?
What is it?
Kit Kat did it.
Ooh, inside job.
You want to why?
We are free publicity.
When's the last time you talked about Kit Kat?
Yep.
When's the last time you thought about Kit Kat?
For a long time.
When?
Halloween's the only time I ever see them.
I love Kit Kat, especially if they're cold.
But I never think to get one.
Uh-huh.
Why'd you look at me like that?
I've never had them cold.
That's the only way to have them.
Otherwise, they get all mushy.
Put them in the refrigerator.
First of all, Snickers.
Yes.
Better cold.
I like that.
Kit Kat, much better cold.
Okay.
I keep Reese's in my freezer.
Reesies?
I've never had that.
But cold Kit Kat's the way to go.
But my point is, nobody goes, when you go to the gas station, you're thinking about
candy, does anybody ever get a Kit Kat?
Nope.
Can't remember my last kick cat.
When's the last time you stopped somewhere randomly and was like, I'm going to get candy,
How about a Kit Kat?
Never.
The 80s.
They did it themselves.
Because then Kit Kat got oodles of free publicity.
People got to tell their Kit Kat stories,
and I got to say, oh, Kit Katz are good when they're cold.
Inside Job.
I think they kept the product, too.
No loss there.
They just put it right back in the warehouse.
Yes.
What's the damage?
Makes sense.
Somehow the miraculous are who recover it.
You're on to something here.
Rick, do you like my theory?
Sounds like a good theory to me.
Rick's on board.
Perfect.
Brad, go ahead, Brad.
Hey, guys, good morning.
Good morning.
So here's a theory for you.
With this new executive order of the POTIS signed,
we can't keep these guys that cost too much because the new guys were recruiting,
they may be able to transfer just once,
and they only have five years of eligibility.
Are we looking at paying?
Yeah, but remember, that's not going to.
I think when you, when you,
when you evaluate this,
and I don't know your political preference,
so I'm not trying to make a statement.
You need to know that like, that's not enforceable.
I would say 60% of what Trump does,
he's not allowed to do and the court ends up striking down,
and this is as much of one as ever,
you have to pass a congressional law.
Now, if Congress passes a law,
then what you're saying is actually a good point.
but as of right now, until the NCAA makes a rule, but honestly, until Congress passes a law,
all of this is just words.
So I just want to make sure you know that.
I just want to make sure you know that.
Absolutely.
And in reality, it's not a bad idea because it makes everybody competitive again long time.
Well, to you, but to you, but there's other people who completely disagree with you and say
you're limiting kids' ability to work in a free market.
Maybe, I think that, but obviously it's not a free market anymore.
It's who's got the big...
Well, it is a free market right now.
No, a free market doesn't mean it has to be fair.
It just means everybody can go make what they make.
There's no requirement.
I mean, listen, the liberal and me wishes there were requirements of fairness in the world of business,
but there's not.
It's everybody go make as much money as you can.
I don't love that, but that's kind of how America is.
And just to follow up, that wasn't political.
at all because right now.
I understand.
I understand what you're saying.
It's actually a fair point.
If Congress passes that rule,
what you're saying is going to be completely valid.
But go ahead.
But for now it's not.
And Colin hurts.
