Where does your group perform?
We do some retirement homes.
Those people are starving for banter.

Still no news on Drew. Everybody keeps asking, even though there's a lot of recruiting.
People ask about Drew, we don't have any news.
When I was going to say, when we have news, we'll be the first to say it.
That's actually not true.
Drew will be the first to say.
I'm not going to, I'm not trying to break baby scoop.
Like you out scoop him on his own kid.
Yeah.
Sources say baby has come.
Yeah.
I don't know that we need to do that.
I texted him this morning.
Didn't get a reply.
Yeah.
Well, that's okay.
He's busy.
He's got things too.
They don't have to communicate with you in the moment.
So we will let you know.
Shannon is here as well.
Well, and we got a lot of stuff to get to.
The citizens of Lexington got their collective, well, I don't know how else to say this,
panties in a wad yesterday at a city meeting, which I want to talk about.
And if I had known, how do you, when do you find out if these things happen?
I would have gone.
The people of Chevy Chase, apparently, the hoity tooties were all upset yesterday.
Yeah, they don't send that an alert like everybody.
I would like send an alert.
There could be commuting.
community drama so that I could go.
Were you a part of the community?
No, but I would still like to go watch it.
They don't want you there.
They're public meetings and we need to let people know.
You think they don't publicize it to keep the crowds down?
I read stories about it.
I'd like to because I wasn't there, so I'd like to, you know, hear what people said.
But we'll get to that.
I think we have to start with the magical day of visits yesterday.
Tyron Stokes and Rob Wright were here.
Tyrone Stokes was here all day.
Rob Wright, I think, came at 5 or 6 o'clock.
He landed at 5.
They were here together for a while.
You know, I mean, at this point in my life,
it is kind of strange to be like,
hey, they're 18-year-old and 20-year-old kids on visits.
Shannon, what's going on?
Right.
But that's how fans are.
And Tyron Stokes had lunch at Carson's.
This is now twice.
If we don't get Tyron Stokes, I think we've got to find another restaurant, just like Keenland.
I love Carson's.
I take my parents to Carson's.
Love Carson's.
But Shannon, we can't.
If we don't get Zoom or Tyron for Carson's lunch, we might have to try a different
lunch spot, right?
Yeah, we're blaming it on them, but your fault.
Yes, got to blame it on somebody.
That's right.
We're blaming it on Keenland yesterday.
They blame it on me most of the time, so now we can go to Keenland and Carson's.
Not sure what they did after.
last night as I was going for my walk.
I got an alert Tyron Stokes was live on Instagram
and he was at Rupp Arena shooting on Instagram
with highlights with Tom Leachmeet narrating being played
while he was doing it.
Yeah.
Do you like that?
Love it.
Absolutely love that.
I think obviously it's kind of pre-set up by the UK
had the highlight package going.
But you kind of just feel like for Stokes as a, you know,
even as an 18-year-old kid,
you got to be excited to shoot some hoops in Rupp Arena even for a little bit, don't you?
I would think so.
I mean, that's the advantage that, like, Duke and Kansas and those teams with an on-campus arena is that's probably an easy thing to set up.
At Rupp, it's a whole ordeal.
It is.
Right?
Like, they would have to, I mean, if you think about what goes into him doing that, that's a lot.
They have to put the basketball court down.
Right.
Because it wasn't like who was in, it was like Burt Kreischer.
It was just there this past weekend.
Like, Shannon, I can't deal with Burt Kreischer just but for the record.
He's the guy who rips his shirt off, right?
His whole act is he takes his shirt off, right?
I think so.
Is he ever funny?
I've never really seen anything that he did that was funny.
Here's what's funny.
I know he does a podcast.
I don't know that I've ever heard him make a joke on the podcast.
On anything.
It's just like as soon as I see him, his shirts off.
So for people who come, did they pay money?
Shannon just to see him take his shirt off?
If so, I think Ryan's getting.
got a missed opportunity here for a career.
He beat, he's right, he beat Ryan at his game.
That's right.
He kind of did.
And when he takes his shirt off, like, he's kind of fat, Shannon, but it's not like,
it's not like you would just crack up fat.
No, it's like, you know, it's a little bit of a dad bod, which I guess he's trying to show off.
I don't understand his appeal.
I really don't.
Anyway, point is, he was here.
Just here this weekend.
So they had to clearly take that stage out, put in a basketball court.
Set up the goals.
Which had to be specific for this because they won't be using them again, presumably until October.
True, unless they're going to leave it out for Rob Wright to shoot on today, maybe.
Leave it out for a couple days.
Yeah.
So anyway, I watched that.
It was mesmerizing for about a minute or two.
I like, you know, this is the number one player in the country, one of the top recruits of the last decade.
And yet, Shannon, he still only shoots half court shots.
Like, he's like all of us.
He is.
You know, you got to remember, we talk about all these people.
and they are ultimately kids
because he gets out there and he's like,
all right, I'm going to shoot half-court shot.
That's what I would have done at 18.
Yeah, I mean, you're not going to work on drills.
No, I'm not going to do a layup line.
Maybe some dunks, you know, maybe.
I think he dunked once or twice.
Yeah.
But I stopped watching.
I actually got kind of bored.
But he was on there for a while,
went live so people could see it.
And maybe I've missed it.
I've not known Kentucky to do that in the past.
I don't know of them doing it.
Now, that doesn't mean they've never done it,
but I don't know.
I don't either.
I think it seems like a, you know, a pretty cool idea.
I did too.
And then this morning got a text message on the text machine from someone who was at the airport.
We've had good airport spotters.
Real good airport spotters.
Matt and crew this morning I arrived at the airport when Tyron Stokes was being dropped off.
I was shocked he wasn't in a limo, escalade, or large vehicle.
He wasn't accompanied by the coaches.
He got dropped off by a guy to beat up blue Kia.
Well, I said hi to him and asked him if he had a good day in Kentucky yesterday.
He said, yeah, with not much expression.
I then followed up, well, we are glad you came and hope you come back.
He nodded and put his head over the head.
And interestingly enough, I'm flying to Denver.
And then he said he was on his, that guy, Stokes was on his way to Denver, too.
Now, the reason a coach didn't accompany him for the record is you can't do pickup drop off on unofficial visits.
So the coaches actually would not be allowed to because he didn't.
already did his official visit.
He's got like a manager or somebody.
I mean, I might have went to.
Maybe we ordered the Uber.
Tried not to get a Kia.
Yeah.
Isn't there like an upscale Uber you can order?
Well, I think there's Uber Black and Uber XL.
He is 6-7, right?
Yeah.
I don't know about the key.
It feels like if we're allowed to, at least it was blue.
Yeah.
I don't know if we just send them off in a Kia.
A beat up, Keita.
I would have driven.
Not a great lasting impression.
Yeah, they could have called you.
You could have come picked him up.
I got a new car.
It's clean at this moment.
There we go.
Take advantage.
But so, yeah, the blue key,
maybe not to send away we were looking for.
But besides that, hopefully it went well.
Now, this morning, Kristen Peak was on the Tom Leit show.
Shannon, you produced this Tom Leach show.
So we heard some things online.
about what she said. What did you get the gist of what she said?
Kristen Peek, for people who don't know, is the NBA.com reporter who's had all the Tyron Stokes
scoop here recently.
I believe what she was saying is that he was selling off his Adidas stuff that he got
from other schools.
Yeah, so when he went to, he hates Adidas, she said he hates Adidas clothes and shoes.
Yeah, doesn't like the shoes.
With Kentucky being a Nike school, you think that it doesn't matter that much, but it does to these
players.
And Tyronstein, Kansas is an Adidas.
Right.
And also being in Rupp Arena, getting some shots up, maybe trying to fill the vibe, be comfortable playing there.
That's a good thing.
But she also said that he was going to take two weeks, right?
Yeah.
He's taking the Donald Trump, everything is two weeks away.
View.
Yeah, she said something like for Kentucky fans are concerned, you can rest.
It'll all be over in a couple weeks.
Couple weeks.
Yeah.
Which gets to, I think, the main question.
Can Kentucky wait a couple weeks?
This is a common thread that comes in recruitment.
all the time.
Here is exactly what I've seen happen for the last 20 years.
And it probably happened the 20 years before.
I just wasn't following it as closely.
In the last 20 years, a top recruit comes, visits or whatever,
and then people say something to the effect of,
well, we got to move on, you know, this person we can't wait on.
Yeah.
And inevitably, my answer to that question,
is always why.
No, we don't.
But I don't know about this year.
This year might be a little different.
Because this is a very unique situation.
It's not just saving a roster spot for him.
Shannon, if it was just saving a roster spot for him, you do it.
Sure.
And you wait as long as you need to.
But in this case, they're saving $5, $6 million.
dollars and it has to be used by someone and if it's not used by him it's got to be used by somebody
and if you wait a long time and then don't get him the other people you would spend this money
on may have found another opportunity are committed to somebody else because they are other
people offering them money yes right maybe a similar amount of money and he needs
He needs good players, Mark Pope.
And Tyrone Stokes is a great player, but there are other good players out there, and he needs some of them.
So what do you do?
What do you do?
If you're Mark Pope and the kid, let's just say Kristen Peake is right.
And the kid needs two weeks.
What do you do?
In Pope's situation, this is just my opinion.
He's the number one player in the country.
You need to make some sort of splash.
I think that may be the one time you might wait on a kid.
Might be him.
But then what do you do if in two weeks he picks Kansas?
Now you're going to make sure $5 or $6 million to spend on somebody else.
But there may be nobody left.
I would say most of the great players from the portal will be gone by two weeks.
Two weeks.
Maybe not all, but most.
And what if like Rob Wright says, man, I need to take a couple more visits.
You got to wait on him too?
I know their hope was that at the end of today,
because Wright is still on campus.
Yeah.
They would know.
And there's obviously still chances they could know.
On him?
They would know on him.
I think they wanted to know on both.
Or at least have enough of a sense on Stokes if it was worth waiting.
I know they want to get Wright done today.
I feel like if Wright does not.
commit by the time we do this show tomorrow, that's a bad sign, in my opinion.
Because they want to get him and him not go anywhere else.
So I would think you got to want to have this today.
Other people are even suggesting that like it was all but done and he was just coming here to make sure he didn't hate it.
That's good info.
But that means we got like if we get here tomorrow, we don't have it, then you start to get
nervous. See, that's good to hear you say that. That was my worry that he would come in and say,
man, you're my first visit. I still got to take a couple more visits. Well, I mean, he might,
but I would not interpret that as a good sign. Yeah. He does that. I would interpret that as a bad
sign. And I also know they had all, they've got all these visits set up, but a lot of them were like,
if Stokes and Wright were to commit, they might cancel some of those. Yeah, there were like
a lot of backup plans that seemed like. But if the backup plans become the primary plans, you know,
then you might not be able to take.
So I actually don't envy Pope here.
This is a tough,
tough navigation.
On a make or break season for him.
I think Stokes has,
they've always hoped.
I think they've always had more hope
than the fans and the general public have had.
I think UK has always believed
they have a much better chance
than probably Joe Q public thought.
But now
the rubber meets the road.
And he left, and that staff is probably meeting today.
And they're going to decide, do we feel like we got enough of a shot?
And only they know.
I mean, they were with him, right?
We weren't.
We're guessing.
They might be guessing too, but they're educated guessing.
So we'll see.
Jeff Goodman yesterday still said he felt like Kansas was a heavy favorite.
But I don't know that Jeff Goodman knows.
I'm not sure anyone knows.
This kid is, I give him credit.
He's one of the few kids in history who's really kept it close to the best.
Yeah.
Nobody knows.
The only leaks were coming from that reporter.
I don't think there are any leaks.
I don't, I think she interviewed him, but did she know him before this?
I don't know.
You know, I don't know.
Maybe she did.
Did she say, does she have some sort of relationship with the family or anything, Shannon?
Not that I'm aware of.
Yeah.
So I just think like, Moe Williams has the relationship with his people.
And maybe Mo Williams will.
Maybe he'll know.
Here's what I hope Mark Pope did.
Or Mo Williams.
Listen, man, if you ain't going to come here, just let us know.
But we'll see.
I do think Rob Wright today is crucial.
I think if Rob Wright leaves here and very soon after there's not a commitment,
that ain't a great sign.
And we may be looking at a lot of backup options.
One of the great things about getting everybody excited about these banners,
everybody taking pictures, all that, is it was awesome yesterday, and we'll talk more about it.
But a downside is if you get everybody's hopes up, Shannon, it doesn't happen.
Yeah, that's going to be the worst part.
So we'll see.
We'll see.
859-280-2287.
We'll take a break.
We'll talk more about what happened yesterday.

one person writes Matt I did see
Tyrant and they sent a picture too
I'm not going to post a picture because it was like
one in the trees but I did see Tyron walking around
campus he was with Moe they were laughing the whole time
it was cool to see that's good news
that's good news because they have a relationship already
so I mean trying to foster that and they
convince him to come over here so I walked by the
house yesterday with the with the banners
that was cool they
the dudes were standing on the port
from what I like all day.
They had media in and out all day.
Mario, come on just a second for, just used that one.
What, what, what, what was it like when you went over there?
It was a lot of fun.
They had a lot of energy and, uh, they're really nice dudes.
Were they?
Yeah, they seemed really excited about all this.
Oh, yeah.
They, like you said, they stood out on the porch when I drove past them.
The first time, they was there the whole time.
Yeah.
I just stood there the whole day.
I drove at like 4.30 and there was a TV crew there.
and I just rolled my window down and said hi
and they all yelled
so I sent them all pizza last night
I've seen that
yeah but uh did they
did they have any other stories was anything else
they said a lot of media came there it was like media was coming to
in and out like Kentucky Colonel uh they said they have a TV interview coming up like
in the next few days um other than that like they just was really like excited
well good I liked it I felt like when you
I felt like it was that's as Shannon what
you want in the Kentucky Big Blue Nation.
You get to have little scenes like that.
Like the banner boy, they have now like 2,000 followers on Twitter.
Yeah, they've had a good 48 hours.
They have had a good 48 hours.
It kind of feels like, you know, the excitement that we had early in the Cal area with
some of these recruits coming in where you would see stuff like that.
We have really felt that in a long time.
Totally agree.
They made signs.
They were standing on the streets side of the street with their sign getting people
to honk because they drove by.
I mean, I think it was a constant stream all day yesterday.
But, man, I've not seen this excitement about a couple of recruits in a long time.
I mean, it's kind of good to feel the way we used to get about some of these recruits when they were considering Kentucky.
One person writes, Matt, I don't think you should have put the Kia thing out.
Makes us look back to increase people.
I mean, the people, the amount of everyone, there's a group of people.
Everyone has become children worried about anything.
Don't put that out.
It makes us look back.
Like, come on, man.
This is Kentucky.
Okay.
This is Kentucky.
It's just, this is how it is.
Right.
You know, I can't hold everyone's hand and make them feel better at every single moment.
Yeah, you are.
You're Matt Jones.
You know, it's a, you want, these people want information,
but only the information that makes them happy.
Yeah.
Please, please don't give me information that's bad.
bad. Well, here's information that's bad. No. Give me information that's good. And even if it's wrong,
I feel better. Stop. Like, this is the real world. Okay. This is, you folks just have to understand.
Like, I'm, Shannon, I'm starting to sound like the old guy that's like back in the day, kids.
But you know what I mean? Like, you should have seen what it was.
like when John Wall visited.
Uh-huh.
Do people remember John
Wall, there were cameras
that followed them around.
Yes.
Right?
They couldn't do anything.
When Anthony Davis was,
like,
yesterday was awesome.
But it's still not like what,
like there used to be 50
Matt Joneses.
And they all used to just do,
like we beat them all.
So we're the last one standing.
But, you know, I can't believe how soft some people have, and I'm saying this, and I'm Mr.
feelings and emotional, and I like participation trophies.
And even I'm saying to some of these younger folks, Shannon, like, buck up.
Yeah.
Getting dropped off of the airport and a beat-up key is not going to be the difference in homecoming to Kentucky or not.
No, and it's funny.
He got an Uber.
It's an unofficial visit.
That's the way it goes.
And it may not even been beat up.
May have been a nice Kia.
I don't know.
Could have been a brand new Kia.
Could have been a brand new Kia.
Have you ever driven a Kia?
I don't think I have.
Have you?
No.
I have a rental car.
Yes, we drove a Kia.
We drove a Kia. We drove a Kia on one of our road trips.
Oh, he did?
Remember?
It was a nice car.
It wasn't beat up.
It was a nice car.
Got us from where we needed to go.
It was.
Blake Griffin jumped over a Kia, didn't he in the dunk contest?
I think he did.
Yeah.
It was blue for crying out loud.
they were smart of the blue here. The amount of sort of like every, you know, if that kid who got to shoot at Rupp Arena at night by himself, who drove around campus and there were signs for him everywhere, and who's in the greatest college basketball tradition of all time, and who is being offered an obscene amount of money with the shoe company that,
If he doesn't want to come here,
then it's not going to be because of a Kia.
You know, Shannon?
Yeah.
And it's not going to be because somebody posted about a Kia.
Nope.
And it was unofficial as you pointed out.
If we could have taken him a limit.
I'm just saying, like, I have, I can't believe I'm like becoming my grandfather used to say.
Like, we would lose a T-ball game.
And I would cry.
And he would go, stop crying.
Right.
Tough love.
Well, part of me wants to go, hey, stop crying.
If we don't get this kid, it will stink.
But won't be because of Akea.
It's because he didn't want to come here.
Kristen Peek, by the way, has known this kid since he was 14.
So like her information.
Okay, so she's got a relationship with the family.
Got a relationship with the family.
So she says a couple weeks, then I think we're probably looking at a couple weeks.
Shannon, at which point now you've got to decide if you're Mark Pope.
what do you do?
Yeah.
And Mark Pope needs a big recruit.
This is his guy to get, right?
I think if he wants to wait on Tyron Stokes,
our fan base will be a lot more accepting of that
if they get Rob right today.
Yeah.
Do you agree with that?
Yeah.
If you get Rob right and then like he can be a great player,
then everybody can go,
all right, we'll fill out the rest of the roster
and then we'll just cross our fingers in hope.
Is that kind of what you think?
That's what I would do.
I think that's maybe what happens.
Today, then was big.
All right, 859-280-2287.
We'll take a break.
Barry back.
KSR.
T.J. Smith, personal injury attorney.

He'll make them pay.
Now, more of Kentucky Sports Radio
presented by Stockton Mortgage.
Here's Matt Jones.
Welcome back, Kentucky Sports Radio.
Before we go to the phones,
there's more visits this week, Ryan.
Okay.
I'm going to read you the names.
These are the ones we've confirmed by we,
I mean, either me or Jacob.
Polichick or Jack Pilgrim.
What do you want?
Why are you? Just tell me.
What's up?
It's got the other side.
Okay.
Can we do this segment?
I'm not worried about my face right now.
I thought he might put you on camera.
He said here, tell me to wipe stuff off my face.
We're on the radio.
I didn't want him to get on camera with that way.
Okay.
Well, but there is no.
There's no camera.
All right.
It's just us.
All right.
Here we go.
Alex Wilkins.
He's from Furman, I think.
Is that right?
Terrence Brown from Utah.
Donnie Freeman from Syracuse
Jalen Cox
Maybe he's from Furman
Somebody's from Furman
And then Magoon Guath
Your guy
Again you might have been a year early
But but
But we'll find out
All those guys are expected
To visit this week
Depending of course on these other decisions
You thought they had him last year
You
They Shannon it was him
That's right
You said that he was going to
to come here last year.
He decided to just stay at San Diego State.
Maybe this is the year they get him in.
Maybe this is the year.
So those are five and there may be more.
Those are just the ones that...
Any of those guys excites you?
Yeah, all of them.
Well, not all of them.
But Alex Wilkins, I think, can put up a lot of points.
I've not seen Terrence Brown much, so I don't really know.
People love Donnie Freeman.
They keep...
I mean, he's ranked high in the list.
And, yeah, I don't...
I don't know as much about Jalen Cox.
He's from Colgate.
Colgate.
Yeah, no, I saw him play the kid from Colgate.
I saw him play a game and I liked him.
You mentioned that yesterday.
But now if your team, if they're the best two players on your team,
then I'm not excited.
Right.
But if they are option three and four in your back court, now I'm excited, right?
So I don't know.
It kind of depends on where they're, where they are on the list.
Yeah, though you don't want those guys to be your top two.
You got to go get.
I don't think they can be your top too because I would sit there and go,
are they better than O'A and Aberdeen?
No.
Probably not.
Right.
Now, we may not get guys better than O'A and Aberdeen,
but we need to get in their ballpark and then maybe improve in the front court.
Because I think we can improve in the front court.
I think Moreno will be better.
And I think there are guys we can get that are better Yellivich Garrison and Diabate.
The other guys in that group you think that are?
Donnie Freeman, I think, can be better.
Magoon Guathe is maybe not better overall.
but he has a skill set of protecting the rim that's better than anybody we had last year he is.
So they're doing all these, a lot of these visits on Zoom, but these are the guys that are actually bringing on campus.
They're coming on campus.
Gotcha.
At least as of now.
Okay.
Peanut.
Go ahead, Peanut.
Hey, how you going, fellas?
Good.
I'm going to take you about a butt crusher.
He's fun.
He's been funny on the Keel Tony show.
Yeah, okay.
But what does he do that's so funny?
He takes his shirt off.
No, well, he doesn't really do that on that show.
You ever seen Keel Tony's show?
you heard of it?
No, I know what it is, but I've never watched it.
I don't like that guy, whatever the main guy's name is.
Yeah, I figured.
And I don't like, yeah.
I mean, I watch it if what's his face.
The guy I like, Shane Gillis is on it.
But I'm not watching Joe Rogan, and I'm not watching whatever little Tony mustache is.
I got it.
Go cat.
First call is about Bert Kreissel.
First call.
Burke Chrysier.
If he likes him, he likes him.
You know what I mean?
you should, if you like a guy, you like a guy. He likes
Burt Christ. Big news going on
and UK World. Everybody's got what matters
to the... That's right. Dave, go ahead, Dave.
Hey, guys.
A couple things. First,
is there
a hard deadline for
high school players
to commit? Also, is there a hard
deadline on the portal as far as one
there's a hard deadline on entering the portal
but I think actually
deciding, I think it can go into June.
actually. August. Well, is it August? August 1st. So apparently it's August 1st, according to
Mario. I think Mario maybe he knows the rules. But entering the portal has to be by next Tuesday.
Okay, got you. Second thing, and I know we can do whatever he wants, but why would Stokes need,
I mean, this has been going on now forever, I mean, the recruiting process. Why would he need
two more weeks to decide? I mean, he doesn't need, probably doesn't need it.
Probably doesn't need it.
This is my read on it.
My read, and this is with no knowledge.
Okay, this is Matt Jones just reading the same stuff everybody else is.
I think this kid wants to go to Kansas, right?
I think just my read it, he wants to go to Kansas.
I think the money situation is better for him at Kentucky.
I think the Nike situation is better for him at Kentucky.
I think potentially he realizes he could be on a better team.
at Kentucky if Rob Wright and all these guys come.
But he just likes it better at Kansas.
And so you're sitting there weighing the business decision of coming to Kentucky
versus just the feeling of wanting to be at Kansas.
I think that's just my read on it, but that's where I think it probably is.
All right.
I appreciate it.
Appreciate the call.
And maybe hoping that by the waiting, the business decision gets better.
You know, he is the last one standing of all the top recruits.
everybody else committed and committed a long time ago.
It does seem odd he's the number one guy and has waited this long to make a decision.
And if Kristen Peek, who knows the family since he was 14, says that Bill Self has told him,
I'm coming back out of retirement or, you know, I'm not retiring to coach you.
You know.
I carry a weight.
Some weight.
Well, it means it's clearly what he's been told.
Yeah.
You know.
So, but you know what, Shannon?
if he comes here, I don't care if we were his first choice or not.
Yeah, at the end of the day, is he here or is he not?
I mean, Mark Pope was not Kentucky's first choice and he ran here.
That's right.
And Kentucky accepted him.
Very much.
So, you know, if we are his second choice but we end up here, then I'm going to say,
we may not have been in your heart at first, but Shannon will be in your heart in the end.
That's right.
We wore you down.
We wore you down.
A guy this good.
I don't care if we're going to.
That was my hope.
That was my hope in high school with every girl I talked to.
Wear them down.
I'll wear them down.
It never worked.
She's like, all right, all right.
Come on.
Fine.
I'll take you the prom.
I'll go to the prom with you.
I might become a lesbian as soon as the prom ends.
Mark, go ahead, Mark.
I'm sorry, y'all got me laughing.
I appreciate you guys and what you do, so thank you for that.
Thank you.
With Stokes and Wright being on campus together, I mean, is the staff getting them together to kind of hang out?
I think they were together last night.
They were together last night.
I'm not sure, you know, when they were shooting in the video, I didn't see Rob Wright shooting, so maybe they did it.
But I do think they were part of the reason they were both here at the says they were going to try to get them on campus at this, like together at some point.
because there have been some reports.
I think Kristen Peake said that Stokes wants to make sure he's playing with other good players.
But we have this like, you have this like chicken and egg thing.
Stokes wants to see that we have good players.
The other good players aren't sure about what's going to happen with Stokes.
And it's like, by the way, Kansas has the same situation.
Kansas doesn't have any guys either.
So both programs are kind of in a situation where they're waiting.
That's why Rob Wright might be big.
If we get Rob Wright and a couple other guys, we might have a more formed team than Kansas will have
because they don't really have anybody either right now except the Kenny kid.
But go ahead.
A couple weeks ago, you said you liked getting your red seats on the end of the aisle.
And it made me wander.
Doesn't I get annoying when people want to come and go?
You have to get up for everybody.
I hate it.
I hate it.
But I hate every time someone wants to get up, I just in my mind, appreciate to call Shannon, stare them down.
Like why you got to get up.
You just got up.
But the good thing about sitting on the aisle is I don't have to stand up.
I can just move my legs into the aisle and let them out.
Yeah, you don't have to be that guy, though, that you're talking about.
Because if you're on the inside, you're going to be the same person.
So I'm in seat one and two.
I always make my guest, whoever I take, they have to sit and seat two.
So that way they can stand up and then I just move my legs to the,
unless somebody's really large, they'll be able to get by if I do that.
It's a tight turn right there.
It is a tight turn.
it is they're back home again tonight oh the two guys are still there you know i've talked about
these guys over the years you're two guys to sit by you there's two guys across the aisle two
bald brothers you guys have all seen them right you've been there the two bald brothers yep they
sit across the aisle from me one seat in front and they've been they go to every game they go to
more games than i do never speak to each other they're the most fascinating brothers
bald look exactly the same
come to the game
never speak
ever
Shannon ever
I watch
they don't say words to each of
I think they're like we've spent our whole lives together
we have nothing else to say to each
it's like they're at a movie they'll talk about it after
here's the personalities I can tell the two of them
one of them is very into the game
yeah fist pumps random balls and
strikes calls in the third inning.
The other one plays Tetris
a lot of the game on the spot.
Maybe that's why they don't talk.
But they don't talk.
And every time
I come to a game, there's something
comfortable. I've never spoken to them either.
You're sure they're brothers?
Oh, they look just alike. Two people can't.
Like, what else are they going to be?
Two guys, the same age,
look alike.
I mean, I will say this.
If they are a couple,
no couple has ever found each other a more perfect
you know
finds somebody looks like you no but I think they're brothers
and I think it's kind of sweet
that they're there
but it's also like do you
they don't ever
you should go up and initiate conversation
at the matter of fact if I get your Braves tickets
I'm going to go up and talk to them
you should
I'll find out for people who get my tickets
you should because
I'm not
I like the mystery of it.
But it makes me feel good when I see them there.
Like the game I went the other night,
it was first game I'd set in my seats for the year.
And I was like, okay, they're still alive.
You know?
There's something very cool about going to a ballgame with your brother all those years.
But even if you don't speak?
But that's the weird part.
It's cool they're going.
But how can you go and sit by your brother for a couple hours and watch a ball game
and not even say a word, hey, Mario, that's a great catch.
I challenge you.
If you all go, see if they speak.

And on my podcast, The Clivert Show,
I'm bringing you conversations
about all kinds of stuff,
like being an internet famous referee.
We're in the middle of a game.
This linebacker, this guy,
this linebacker walks up to me, he goes,
A, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her.
What?
Time out.
Quarterback on office blue 42.
Hey, rep, my mama want you to wave at her.
What?

Welcome back.
It is Kentucky Sports Radio.
859-280-2287.
Text machine is 772-774-5254.
They're talking about moving the preakness back a week.
You like that?
I've been hearing this for 30 years.
But this time now they may be doing it,
because the TV stations may be making them.
Finally.
I mean, it's the only smart thing to do.
You know, people are not competing in the Triple Crown because they're afraid there's not enough time between the Derby and the Preekness.
Okay, just move it back one week and it might make a difference.
I have always thought they should do it because you know what?
Times change.
Yes.
I hate when people are like, throughout history, it's been two, five weeks.
So what?
These horses are soft these days.
Okay, fine, they are.
You know what?
So what?
The preteness is a joke every year.
The derby winner goes and no one else go.
Right.
So it's not good.
So you got to make it good.
And if that means another week, everybody will get over.
And then I realized that until 1969, they did it different.
The preteness and the Belmont were different weeks every year.
The derby was the only one that said.
Some years, the Belmont was before the pretenance.
Yes, I do remember.
I've heard that.
And sometimes the Belmont would be in July.
Uh-huh.
So why are we wedded to a history that's not even that much of a history?
I guess citation won it and there was like a month in between each one.
And everybody knows, I mean, I drove on citation yesterday.
Everybody can.
So I just, I don't understand.
Times change.
The desire to not change just for the sake of not changing is something that is baffling to me.
You know, horse people are there pretty pretentious people.
I know they need to.
They got to get over it.
I mean, the derby is massive.
But the preteness and the Belmont have moved off America's radar, in part because unless
there's a triple crown person at the horse at the Belmont, people don't follow it.
People don't pay attention.
So you need to do everything you can to make it to where that can happen.
Yes.
If the preteness, if all the good horses are in the pretenance, then people will watch it just for
that reason.
Sure they will.
Like the horse purists will love that.
then you go to the Belmont, yes, you're going to need a triple crown horse.
So let's do whatever to make that as possible as we can.
For the betterment of the sport, do it.
I just, the people who are just like, we all leave did.
Well, say la V.
Yeah.
Right?
We always used to have records.
And then we decided to move to eight tracks and then cassettes and then CDs.
And now it's digital.
And next they'll just put the song in your brain, Shannon.
and you won't even have to have anything.
Pretty much.
Although records are cool again.
It's weird how technology just comes back to where it was.
Sometimes we like the simpler times.
That's right.
I saw an article that said that most people now believe the best time to grow up
and be in high school and college is in the 90s.
And I think they're exactly right.
I'll bet the person who wrote that probably grew up in the 90s.
Everybody thinks their generation's the best.
Yeah, but ours was best.
Ryan probably thinks this is the best.
Pre-9-11, but you still had cool stuff.
You still had the Internet.
You didn't have to, you didn't have phones.
Pre-9-11?
Pre-9-11, no draft.
Yeah.
No draft.
Yeah, that's a positive.
But you're right.
See, I grew up in the 80s.
I think the 80s are the greatest year of a decade ever.
But see, but he's, you're, I mean, that's clearly wrong.
Nathaniel, go ahead, Nathan.
Go ahead, Nathan.
Hey, morning, guys.
Good.
Good.
Wanted to follow up on the Tyrant Stokes thing again.
In the interview that he had with Kristen Peake last week, he did make a specific reference to,
I think something you alluded to earlier with one of the other callers was he kind of wants to have a sense for who's coming,
who's going in the portal, that sort of thing.
So, well, I don't think you can wait maybe like two, three weeks on him.
I do think you can give him about a week.
And I think it's really important Pope tries to lock down, whether it be Rob Wright, you know, the Donnie Freeman.
guy coming either today or tomorrow, Zoom Diallo, one or two of those guys, because then that's
something that you can show to Stokes and be like, hey, look, here's some really talented players that you're
going to be able to play alongside of. Yep.
And those guys, independent of a Tyron Stokes decision are also guys that you could roll with.
That you want. Yeah, I think the Rob Wright thing is huge. Appreciate the call. Because I think
whether you get Stokes or not, Rob Wright is, if you're sitting there going, we've got to replace
Aberdeen and O'way. And we need two guys.
or at least in the ballpark if it's good.
Rob Wright's one.
You got one right there.
Okay?
Now, Stokes would be this.
If you get Rob Wright and Stokes,
you're probably better than O'A in Aberdeen.
If you get Rob Wright and somebody a little worse,
maybe you'll be a little worse,
but you can be better at all the other positions
and be more deep and more balanced.
So Rob Wright, to me,
a lot of people were on pins and needles yesterday.
I'm on pins and needles today.
We can't get to this show tomorrow
and not have a Rob Wright commitment.
or by midday Wednesday it's got to happen because if you get he if you let him leave and he does not commit
then I start to wonder if it's going to happen he's such a big domino to fall you get him to commit
that might lead others to want to commit to play with this kid Jeff Goodman has good connections with
that group and basically said it's Kentucky so long as they don't screw up so don't screw up
We take him to Carson's and Kenley?
I would say, just don't screw up.
That's the key.
Roy, go ahead, roll.
Hello.
Roy, go ahead.
Tell that person in the background of Hux.
Go ahead.
You all was talking about marriage last week?
Yes.
I got a question to ask you.
It's a joke, okay?
Why did God create men before he created the woman?
Oh, gosh.
Can you tell me?
I can't.
okay he created the man first because he didn't want the woman telling him what to do
you'll get it later i understand i appreciate the appreciate the call call the day i'm so glad
you let him tell the joke so worth it it was for you audience of one yeah you think it
i mean first of all that you know all right you can do all this talk about serious stuff
Yep.
And two out of our five calls were about Burt Kreiser taking his shirt off.
And why did man create woman joke that would be told it by Haney?
