I'm Michelle McPhee, and I've been unraveling the strangest criminal alliance I've ever reported on. A Mormon polygamist and an Armenian businessman. Multi-million dollar house, Ferraris and Lamborghinis, private jets, a billion dollar fraud. But how long can this alliance last? Tell me what you know. Is somebody coming after me?
Starting point is 00:02:00 Listen to Kingdom of Fraud on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Starting point is 00:03:00 8259 equal housing lender. NMLS Consumer Access.org Welcome to Hour 2 of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. Now here's Matt Jones. Welcome back. Hour number two, Kentucky Sports Radio, 859-280-2287. I have a friend who's Shannon.
Starting point is 00:03:20 Our kids are on a like nature tour. And they said one of the guides on the tour is listening to us. So all that you hear in this quiet part of nature is the tour guide. my voice in the background. So hello to the tour. Wow. That's very nice. I like when people say that it'll play in their office or whatever.
Starting point is 00:03:40 But I also like the idea of the guys that they're like, let's go on this tour. And the guy's like, I'm playing this show no matter what. You're disrupting nature right now. That's okay. Nature's overrated. The quiet of nature. Quiet of nature walking through there and you hear doof and schmurch in the background. Speaking of quiet.
Starting point is 00:03:54 The nose whistle like attracts a bear or something. It could be dangerous. Well, that's okay. I mean, they can hear it. Yeah. Where my new house is gets very quiet. I bet. I was out there at night the other night.
Starting point is 00:04:07 Uh-huh. Oh, my goodness. Like, that's, you, that's really quiet out there. Yeah. Quiet. Kind of discerningly quiet. So I'm not having to get used to that. No traffic whatsoever.
Starting point is 00:04:18 No traffic. Just, Shannon, just quiet. It's peace. I mean, I don't think you would like that, right? That's why you moved out there. Did not have peace in my neighborhood on Friday night. What happened? Which, well, it'll probably be a story for tomorrow.
Starting point is 00:04:33 Oh. There was just a confrontation. And it wasn't good. We got through it, Shannon. I love stories of confrontation. You were in a confrontation? It was not my fault. But we'll say, I talked about it on ESPN.
Starting point is 00:04:47 Let me say something about ESPN really quick. A number of you wrote me this weekend. It's three hours. I understand if you all don't listen to all of Matt Meyer. Just trust me. hour two yesterday about halfway through a story about lehigh versus coppin state baseball wow you probably think who cares yeah really all i'm going to say to you it's the best three minutes of radio matt miron have ever done myron had me crying laughing so much ever i was
Starting point is 00:05:17 watching everyone in the espion background people were on the floor crying just i'm just going to leave it halfway through hour two. What a tease. That's a great tea. I'm going to turn it in now. You need to hear. Okay. And then we'll just, we'll leave it at that. But it was, I have not laughed that hard. Lehigh and Coppin State baseball? Well, it's what derived from that. Lehigh beat Coppin State 38 to 6 in baseball. And we were talking about it. Okay. So, all right, spring game. What happened? Well, you were, I assigned Ryan Shannon as UK football spring game reporter. good crowd despite the weather and they only got in like two and a half quarters and it started raining so we got in got and didn't get a whole game in but everybody left talking about kenny minchi and keep in mind he didn't have his two best running backs they're out hurt didn't have his two best two of his best receivers they're out hurt didn't have his left tackle and still look sharp where he made a couple good passes but everybody wanted to talk about his legs like they didn't realize he was that mobile he ran for a touchdown one time but he even said after the game i am not a dual threat core back, but he showed we can run a little bit in the spring game.
Starting point is 00:06:27 A lot of people told me they thought the efficiency and just the exciting, you know, they actually ended up having to do a lot of dump-offs and stuff, maybe not as explosive as it will be normally. Right. But that it just looked like a fun, more up-tempo, sort of, the environment just seemed a lot more of an exciting football than what we'd seen. Do you agree? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:06:50 And he hit Tidy and Lully Rod. Rodriguez across down going down the middle. I mean, how many years of our fans wanted that to hit a tight end going down the middle? Perfect, perfect throw to him. He made a nice throw to Brock Kaufman, the sophomore from Sarah, made a diving catch. But there just wasn't a lot of options
Starting point is 00:07:07 because your stars are not there. The Carter kid from Paduca that they moved over from safety to running back look good. Yeah, they had a lot of their top guys were not playing. Right. Because they didn't want to get hurt, etc. Pretty good crowd.
Starting point is 00:07:21 Good crowd. Yeah. when you consider that rain was coming, et cetera. They did do a trick play at the end where they did like a half-back pass and went for a touchdown. And Stein is hinted. You know, that's going to be part of his playbook. You know, he's going to be afraid to mix in a trick play or something like that. They got another four-star commitment.
Starting point is 00:07:37 They did. Right now, Shannon, UK football is ranked as the seventh best recruiting class in America. That's crazy. Like, when was the last time we had anything? Now, granted, this will go down. A lot of schools haven't gotten their players yet. but Shannon's seventh best. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:07:54 And he's got a tough schedule coming up next year too. Well, now's the time to pounce. Exactly. Exactly. He said that, now's the time to pounce. I want you to pull up Shannon the quote he gave yesterday because I want to play this. It's on my Twitter. Well, it was this quote Saturday.
Starting point is 00:08:08 And I just want to, you know, I want to give Will a lot of credit. Now, he hasn't played a game. So things are much easier when you haven't played a game. But there's such a joy about Will. Like I requested To have him on this week I said I wanted to talk like X and O's with him To the extent I want to like get to know the players
Starting point is 00:08:29 Because I don't feel like I know the players Do you? No. A lot of new faces. I mean I really don't know the players at all. I don't know who's on the team really. I don't know who's good And I want to have him kind of help teach me.
Starting point is 00:08:43 But there's something so refreshing about just listening to him talk And also, in a time when Big Blue Nation continues to get pounded with negativity, some of it's self-inflicted, but some of it from the outside. We have a football coach that says something like this, Shend. I think when people come here, they see, like, authenticity, right, from the coaching staff. They see real connection from the team. They love Lexington. They love University of Kentucky.
Starting point is 00:09:11 They love what we do on offense, defense, and special teams. just a bunch of real dudes, man, that coach football here, that guys don't have to feel on edge talking to. I don't wear like a quarter zip and khaki pants at work. Like, I would dress like a football coach, you know? So I think when they come in our building, they're like, man, these are just normal dudes. They love ball.
Starting point is 00:09:30 They love their families. They love the Lord. Like, that's what they are. And so I think that's what's really gravitating these players to hear is like-minded people surround themselves with other like-minded people. And so they come to Kentucky. And they're like, man, I never knew. was like this. Yeah, well, like, we're going to recruit the best players in America.
Starting point is 00:09:48 Like, that's our job is to sign the absolute best players that we can. And we're not going to back down to anybody. So I think when they get that vibe, when they have that, when they see the confidence from our entire staff and our players, then they're like, man, I want to be a part of this. So it's been great so far. Winning spring is one thing. It's about winning games on Saturdays come fall. That's awesome.
Starting point is 00:10:10 You got to love that, right? That was fantastic. And then later he said that our fans, have been awesome. They're psychotic in the best way possible. Yeah. Which I love that. That's the truth. We are psychotic, but in the best way possible. Yeah. That's part of the reason why we had the best fan base there is. And I love that he says that. I feel like everyone at UK's been putting the own fans on the defensive.
Starting point is 00:10:36 Right? Yes. And now here's a guy going, we're psychotic in the best way possible. Now he takes a huge shot at quarters of it. Poor Billy's going to want to be aware. I've got one on right now. What's wrong with quarter zips? He says we're not going to walk around here in quarter zips and khakis. I don't have khakis. That's right, dabbo.
Starting point is 00:10:57 Uh-huh, right. Eat it. I think Billy felt personally offended by the quarter zips and khakis. Yeah, that's his entire closet this morning. That's the only thing Billy wears our quarter zips. Is Billy, you think Shannon out on Will Stein now because of this? Maybe so. Maybe so.
Starting point is 00:11:14 I kind of felt like he was attacking Billy. But that quote is why he is the perfect guy for this job. He not only has a great football mind, he gets it what it means to coach football at Kentucky. And he can relate to being one of us. You know what I mean? I think he's going to make Kentucky football cool again because of the way he's approached the game. A bunch of real dudes. Real dudes.
Starting point is 00:11:38 Real dudes. Breath of fresh air coming in. No quarterships. Or khakis. But I also show, let me give you a. another example though of just these are little things okay these are not like like this is not something that's huge but let me just give me an example about the quarter zip so i put out a tweet that says something like will stein ain't having your quarter zips yeah he responds to the tweet
Starting point is 00:12:02 i was thinking besides vince merrow has any coach ever responded to a tweet of mine he responded with like a laughing face right i retweet it and then fans start to write and go, wait a minute, man, I have quarterships. And then he responded to the fans. Okay? He responded to the fans because somebody had dug up a picture of him in a quarter zip. And he was like, yeah, I guess I was a little aggressive in my comment. But here's a random, just random fans.
Starting point is 00:12:34 Yeah. And the coach, I don't want coaches always respondent to random fans. But occasionally, Shannon, that's kind of cool. Yeah, it shows a connection to your fan base. if that guy, the people he responded to, they'll be fans of his for a lot. That's right. Yes. Like I said, he's one of us.
Starting point is 00:12:48 He gets it, man. He said him. How many times do you think, Shannon, over the next five years, is Ryan going to use the phrase? He's one of us. He gets it. Many. We don't use that with Mark Pope. He has.
Starting point is 00:12:59 I would like to have a counter. We should start one. If he's one of us, he gets it, Ryan Lemon counter. Okay. Can he keep it under? triple digits for the calendar year. No. You've said it.
Starting point is 00:13:17 What's interesting is you've said it three times in this second. Today. Yes. Can he keep it under 100 in a year? Well, there's three. He's one of us. 97 to go. He gets. Well, because he can use it about Pope too.
Starting point is 00:13:30 Of course I can't. And if they hire an AD with UK connections. He's then. I think he said it on Friday too. I just might want to have a varied phrase on But I do, I kind of like, Shannon, the idea of interacting with the fans, except. Yes, a limited amount. Like every now and then.
Starting point is 00:13:47 But, you know, after a loss or something, you don't want them on there. No, of course not. We don't want him down. You know. But after the spring game during the offseason, why not? Yeah. I think he's done a tremendous job from everything I've seen. Obviously, the product on the field is what will matter the most.
Starting point is 00:14:05 But there has to be excitement. and the next step for UK football is, now you guys got to introduce this team to us. And by us, I just mean the fan base as a whole. Yeah. Because we don't know these guys. No. A lot of new faces.
Starting point is 00:14:20 Who's going to be the most known player on the team going into the season? Todd Bryant. How many Kentuckians you think would recognize Todd Bryant in the lineup? He'd be the one name that had come back that people recognize. But no one would know what he looks. Probably not what he looks like. I mean, that's my point. got to introduce this team.
Starting point is 00:14:38 Yeah. The two most known players are probably Willie Rodriguez and Ty Bryan. And I would say both guys could walk the streets of Lexington pretty anonymously. Yeah. So it is now UK football's job, media, introduce these players to this fan base. Yeah. Because just remember what happened with Shiage Pete, even though he didn't even end up being great. How much did people love that kid for?
Starting point is 00:15:07 a while. He was on our show. He's only thing we had to talk about. Yeah. The only thing we had to talk about after Media Day was in. So now they need to introduce this team. Start with your Ty Brinson and your Willie Rodriguez. Then go to your Kenny Minchies. Yep. Then take your star. We just need to know them because that's the way you get people to love the guys.
Starting point is 00:15:26 Because you know, Week 2, Shannon, we're playing Alabama in this stadium. Yeah. I don't know if people process that. Do you all realize in week two? Week two. You're going to see what you got right. They're coming here. They're coming. Is that going to be the biggest week two game in the history of Kentucky football?
Starting point is 00:15:50 I would argue yes. Usually week two is a lower opponent. It's been Florida before, but I think when it was Florida, it was usually there. When we played them in week two. I'm going to say this is the biggest, early season Commonwealth Stadium home game. Maybe one of those years when we opened the season
Starting point is 00:16:11 with Louisville, maybe. But then usually week two is an underman opponent. This is Bahama. Week two. Here. We could put the nail in DeBore's Alabama coffin in week two.
Starting point is 00:16:28 That's true. If we beat him, Shannon, he's done. He might get fired before he gets back to Tuscaloosa. I don't ever remember playing like a Georgia or any big team in the second week of the season. We played Old Miss. We played Old Miss. We've played South Carolina in that game a couple times. But we certainly haven't had Bama. No.
Starting point is 00:16:50 Bama. So that's going to be an awesome environment. I don't know what's going to happen. But the buildup to that game will be Kentucky sports at their best. The city of Lexington leading into that Alabama game, especially when you consider it's Will Stein's first real big game. It'll be awesome. I'm getting chills just thinking about it.
Starting point is 00:17:20 That'll be great. We'll take a break. 859-280-2287. It's KSR. Last night, a blown call changed the game. This morning, the internet lost its mind. Highlights are trending, opinions are flying, and nobody's telling you exactly what happened.

So when a swaggering Armenian businessman catapults Jacob into an extraordinary world, he doesn't look bad. Ferraris and Lamborghinis, private jets, meeting the president of Turkey. I'm Michelle McPhee, and this is one of the most shocking criminal conspiracies I've ever come across. When Jacob met Levin this plant to a billion dollar fraud. But with two kings from entirely different worlds, just how long can their empire survive?

Listen to Kingdom of Fraud on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Life throws hurdles big and small. The question is, how do you conquer them? On Hurtle with Emily Abadi, we sit down with the most inspiring women in sports and wellness, professional athletes, coaches, and Olympic champions to talk about the challenges that shaped them and the mindset that keeps them going. From the WNBA standout,
Starting point is 00:20:37 Kate Martin and rising hockey star Layla Edwards. If a boy can do it, I don't see why a girl can't. Like, I've never understood that. Like, it didn't make sense in my brain. It's hard to be in spaces that no one looks like you, but don't ever feel like you don't feel on. Don't let that be the reason you don't do it. An Olympic champs, Gabby Thomas and Katie Ladecki.
Starting point is 00:20:54 The ability to show a gold medal to someone and have their face light up and smile, that means the world to me. And that's what motivates me to win more gold medals. At our level, at this scale, like being able to fail in front of the entire world. Like, I can do anything. I can do anything.
Starting point is 00:21:12 Because resilience isn't just about winning. It's about showing up, even when it's hard. Listen to Hurtle with Emily Abadi on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Presented by Capital One, founding partner of IHeart Women's Sports. Welcome back, Tuggy Sports Radio, 859-280-2287. Tell me about Stock-to-Mortgage really quick. Stock-to-Mortgage, I literally had a guy.
Starting point is 00:21:35 It's funny we're going to do this commercial because I had a The guy texts me this morning. Want to know the contact info for Stockton Mortgage. They're starting to look for a house. They want to get pre-approved. That's the thing to do. Spring buying season's hot and heavy, so Stockton Mortgage can help you be ready to attack the market.
Starting point is 00:21:47 We had multiple offers on a house just this weekend. We tried to make it buy a house. I'm with one of my buyers. Had that pre-approval letter to make us a little more powerful. You can do the same thing. So go to Stockton.com, NMLS 8259, Equal Housing Lender. When person writes, Matt, you talked last week about the Chevy Chase thing. You wouldn't believe it.
Starting point is 00:22:03 One of my relatives is on that board. They've gotten threats. that's crazy Wow Dude you couldn't pay me To be on a citizen zoning board Well actually you couldn't pay them because it's volunteer Volunteer
Starting point is 00:22:16 No money to get It's a thankless job And to get booed Shannon Yeah How much do you love your community If you're going to volunteer for that abuse That's true Right
Starting point is 00:22:29 Why would you want to do that I can't believe they can even find anybody To do that Yeah Why would you It's worse than a mayor job Oh, yeah, well, at least the mayor job's a salary. You get to go to things.
Starting point is 00:22:40 I bet the zoning people don't even get to do go to anything. No, they don't get invited to the big fancy benefits. Most thankless public job. What do we think it is? I would argue still school board. That's a good one. School board just would be, first of all, people get so angry. I mean, the Kentucky legislature, did you see they just made a law that was about one guy?
Starting point is 00:23:05 Did you see that? There's a guy on the Lexington School Board who they made a law that. So if you're a member of the Fayette County, like if you're a teacher, you can't be on the school board. But this guy was a teacher in like Danville, but was on the Fayette County School Board. So then they made a law that said essentially, well, you can't teach somewhere else and then be on a school board somewhere else. It was made a law for him. Yeah. I don't know this guy.
Starting point is 00:23:29 He may be a good school board member or a bad one. I don't know. But it's like, all right, legislature. You don't want to be on the school board that. badly. I think you'd be lucky to get anybody on the school board. That's true. He's somebody who's a career as an education. Nope. We don't want anybody with knowledge. Nobody with knowledge. It makes way too much sense. Nobody with knowledge. It's good to have people with no knowledge. But what else besides school board would be a terrible, thankless job.
Starting point is 00:23:59 Any kind of customer service thing, because anytime people talk to you, they're complaining. At least you're getting paid for that. Yeah. I've always said the worst job in customer service would be the person at the place where they lose baggage in the airport. Yeah. Nobody wants to come up to tell you you're doing a good job. No, thanks for getting my bags. No, everybody gets their bags and leaves.
Starting point is 00:24:21 Well, they're mad. Yeah, the only people are there who don't have their bags. I mean, there's no job I can think of where people are never. You ain't getting Christmas cards if you're the lost baggage woman. No, everybody hates you. Everyone hates you. And you have nothing to do with it. And you have nothing to do with it.
Starting point is 00:24:39 Yeah, that would be the worst. All right, who's next? Greg. Greg, go ahead, Greg. Hey, man. First time, a long time. Who are? Hey, I know we're talking about football in this session,
Starting point is 00:24:52 but I did want to go back to basketball, make two points, if that's okay. Go for it. One is that Mark Pope is reminding me of both Calipari 2.0 and Tubby Smith, 2.0 and I'll explain that that the issue was neither one of them was able or willing one or the other to adapt and it's like your your whole point about having a GM it's like I don't know what the issue is maybe his hands are tied and he can't I don't know but it looks like he just he just doesn't
Starting point is 00:25:23 have or doesn't want to do what he needs to do to be competitive and as far as tubby the issue with tubby was he wouldn't adapt to recruit people that he needed to recruit. You know, we didn't run them out of here. You know, we were frustrated with his 10-loss seasons, but we didn't run them off. We just wanted them to change. Yeah, no, all these guys have had the same issue. I appreciate the call. I mean, let's go through the Kentucky coaches that have seen their 10 years here end.
Starting point is 00:25:53 Tubby Smith, he did not want to, he had a team full of the top guys in recruiting. They frustrate him a little bit. He won a couple years with guys that were not highly ranked, and he said, I can do that. And he didn't realize that Fitch, Hawkins, Daniels, Hayes were the exceptions rather than the rule. And he ended up recruiting guys that just weren't as good as you needed at Kentucky to win a title. Yeah, he put all these eggs in the title or Hansborough Basket and Brandon Wright Basket didn't get them. But he also just was like, well, if I can win with Eric Daniels, I can win with anybody.
Starting point is 00:26:26 I didn't feel up to throw the other guys. But he didn't realize not everybody's Eric Daniels, right? Calapary didn't realize that the evolution of the one and done doesn't work unless you get numbers one through eight and didn't adapt to modern basketball, modern thing. Mark Stoops became just surrounded himself with friends at the end. Didn't bring in new blood and decided to not adapt to the changes in college football. Mark Pope is continuing. Now, Mo Williams is an exception, but continuing to kind of keep the same analytical smart guys around him.
Starting point is 00:27:07 And there is this world of sort of street agents that's like, you know, we can take these guys for a ride. So there's still a staff opening on Mark Pope's staff. That's weird to me too, though. Very weird. Why don't we not have that filled? Especially this crucial time of transfer portal week. Like this is, I mean, this is, they got all summer to do nothing.
Starting point is 00:27:32 Like, why don't we have that fill? I don't know. Don't know. Again, be a nice thing, Shannon, to ask somebody. Yeah. But there's no one to ask. You can't talk to anybody. You can't talk to anybody.
Starting point is 00:27:43 So we just have to make our own assumptions. So we just go, I mean, imagine when he does do an interview. I think so many things to ask. But here's what will happen. Well, people will try to ask questions about last year and he'll just go, we've moved on to a new year. Which means none of those will get at. But yet we still have these lingering questions. You got the same problems this year if you don't start getting some players.
Starting point is 00:28:03 Yeah, I mean, it's just frustrating. Who's next? The NARC. NARC. Go ahead, Narc. Hey, guys. So I just wanted to talk about the spring game real quick. Yeah, it's just, it feels different. It feels great.
Starting point is 00:28:20 You know, we had guys tailgating in the parking lot. We had just a great product on the field. And even after the game, whenever it started raining, we had people doing the catch chant in the rain. That's awesome. It just feels like there's this electric vibe around the team this year that is just something that feels different and special. Hopefully we're able to do something really good this year with this team. Yeah, I like that. I didn't know that about the chanting after the game.
Starting point is 00:28:52 I appreciate it. But that's cool. I mean, the kind of person that goes to the spring game in football, that's a dedicated. UK football fan. Those are the people you really need to cater to. Those are the people that, you know, you got to be a big time fan to get in your car and go sit with a threat of rain and watch guys play in a practice game in April. So like those are the people to me, those are the diehards. That's who UK really needs to make sure are happy. And it sounds like they are. Yeah. And they did. I don't think they got away from that for a couple of years.
Starting point is 00:29:20 They got to keep those people happy. That's the life, the backbone of your program, your fan base, those guys and gals. But do not go in quarters. Or don't wear khakis. Look at Shannon in his quarter zip. No khakis, though. He's not a dude, though. You're not a dude. I'll take this thing off.
Starting point is 00:29:36 You're not a dude. There you go. Now you're more of a dude right now. We'll be right back. T.J. Smith, personal injury attorney. Call T.J. He'll make them pay. Now, more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage.
Starting point is 00:29:49 Here's Matt Jones. Welcome back, Tuggy Sports Radio. Have we moved on from Grove Street, Ryan? I don't think so. I still want it. I think it still works. I think it still works. You don't think it still works?
Starting point is 00:30:02 I think it's the one thing we have that does work. It's the one thing we have. Yeah, I don't think you get rid of it. No, we've kind of adapted it. Yes. Just that video of the old couple of the baseball game. Yes. I did.
Starting point is 00:30:13 That was awesome. I thought that was sweet. Life goals right there. Is it? Yeah. We retired, go to get season tickets to year. They said they go to every game. That's awesome.
Starting point is 00:30:22 Good for them. That's very, very sweet. They should do a feature on those two. They should. I don't know who they is. Well, you guys could. I guess Mario could do it. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:30:34 Yeah, they lost another series. Kentucky just can't get over the hump in these series. Relief pitching is a struggle. I thought that they won the Vanderbilt series. No. No, they lost it. They won 49 on the Walkoff Grand Slam. I'm saying, but there were two other games.
Starting point is 00:30:48 I thought they won on Saturday. No. Oh, okay, my bad. They didn't win on Saturday or Sunday. I know they lost yesterday. Hence Shannon Y, why we said they lost the series. I thought they'd won. Darren Hedrick's call.
Starting point is 00:30:57 though was great of that Grand Slam if you haven't heard it. I'll tell you whose call needed some work was Dick Gabriel. I didn't need to wake him up. Dick Gabriel was like, long fly ball. Grand Slam. Tuggy wins. Five to three. Darren Hedrick's awesome, no.
Starting point is 00:31:15 I mean, we got to wake Dick Gabriel up. A little shot of caffeine or something. Give him a little roots and fruits or something there. Darren made up for it with his excitement. I didn't get to hear Darren. Well, can I hear Darren? Darans? Does anybody have it? Billy Head. I'll see if he can send it over to me. It's really good. I would like, I would like to hear that. One person says, Matt, non-paying HOA president, also a
Starting point is 00:31:38 thankless job. Oh, the HOA. That's the worst. Do you have an HOA at your new house? I think so. Oh, yeah. Oh, boy. Yeah, whatever. Well, your money bag, so you don't care. But I'm talking about the HOA, you got to pay and they do nothing for you. Nothing at all? I had one where they, the only thing they did, They planted some flowers at the entrance. Yeah, I'm paying for it. At the entrance of the street to come into the neighborhood. And then they would plow the snow off of your street if it were like three inches or more.
Starting point is 00:32:13 Sounds like this is a very active HOA. But you get like an inch of ice and they do nothing about it. And I'm going, why? You didn't pay for that. So do you think it's like a money laundering scheme here, H-O-A? Oh, wow. I don't have one now. but when I did, I'm like, you know, I don't have a clubhouse.
Starting point is 00:32:29 There's no pool. Well, I have a bigger issue with my neighborhood, which is they have a neighborhood Facebook group. Uh-oh. And they won't admit me. They're going to talk about you. I applied. I had to fill out an application. And they still haven't admitted me.
Starting point is 00:32:43 It's in review. They're reviewing your application. Got to check out your sources. But there's like a thousand people in the group. And I feel like, you know, all right, get to know your neighbors. Nope. Not yet. Not in.
Starting point is 00:32:56 Is it a Facebook? group. It's a Facebook group. But it's like they, I can tell it's active posts. They talk about, maybe they're gossiping about meat. That's what it is. Yeah. They got give them time to go back in, delete all the stuff they've said about you before they let you in. Now, I've got Darren's call if you want to hear that. All right, go ahead, play.
Starting point is 00:33:13 All right, here we go. The tying run at third, Tarnish at second. The one-one, swung on, high-fly ball, right field. Back goes Johnstone at the wall. It's goal. It's gone! It's gone! A walk-off, grand slam by Braxton Van Cleave. Cats win!
Starting point is 00:33:41 There you go, that's great. Gave me chili bumps right there. And then you counter that with Long Fly Ball, home run. Cats win. It's good. I'm sure it was a little better than that. You want to find out?
Starting point is 00:33:57 I can find the other one. Go find the other one. one. I'll tell you what, you, you play them back to back. Okay. Yeah. And then let's see if we can figure out who was who. Okay. Amongst the two calls. Daron's was really good. I agree. Darren's great. We'll do the other one. Here, just a minute. Who's up next? Let's go to Jordan. Jordan. Go ahead, Jordan. Hey, Matt, guys. I called you guys a few weeks back when Donnie Freeman actually hit the
Starting point is 00:34:29 and I was really wanting him to come. And I was really excited. I think at this point where we're at with the fours that are left, I think Pope's just going to have to either pay Donnie or take a risk of not paying him and maybe risking his season and his job and his career if he doesn't have a season that's going to pan out. I think you've got to take the risk on paying Donnie because if not, you may have to.
Starting point is 00:34:54 And you don't get Stokes too. But you also set up president. Yeah, you're always. Also said a president, though. I mean, this is part of what there was somebody, and I can't remember who said it. I appreciate the call, but I saw one of the writers say part of what's hurt Kentucky this year was the perception that because they spent so much money last year, there was this idea of, oh, wait a minute, you spent X on Brandon Garrison last year.
Starting point is 00:35:16 I'm at least worth that. Yeah. And I think that's, so this stuff, you know, Kentucky built a reputation and now you have to like try to change it. So if you overpay again, you may be asking not only to overpay in this case, but now future people are going to. And then the guy you already signed goes, wait a minute. Like kind of the caller was saying,
Starting point is 00:35:35 if this is kind of a make or break year for Pope, do you just have to give him the money and go out and get him whatever he needs just to. But that's what they did last year. And when you say they, who's giving them the money? Pope. What do you mean Pope? Pope's NIA go out and get this guy.
Starting point is 00:35:54 Yeah, but you still have to go raise those funds. Right. Like, I mean, they had a budget. They have a budget. budget a budget they want to stick to and I understand that and so far they have stuck to the budget but now I don't know I don't know what happens if your budget you don't get the guy it's there not a backup plan if there's nobody else out there yeah I don't know what you do who's next shen let's go to Logan Logan go ahead Logan first time long time who I
Starting point is 00:36:21 I got tickets to the Alabama game and it was a birthday present from my older brother shout out Shane Baker. Shout out to Shane Baker. My question to you is, as a first time, trill, it's been my first game, my first college football game. What's the advice you can give to somebody to go to Croger Field and have a good experience?
Starting point is 00:36:47 Well, first of all, that's awesome. This is going to be your first college football game. We don't know what time the game is. But I'm going to just guess that game will be either. That game will probably be the 3.30. B. That's my guess. Because usually we have two, there's not great
Starting point is 00:37:03 matchups. Yeah. And I mean, it's Alabama. It's a, it's a, so yeah. My guess is that's going to be your 3.30 game, which means you're going to,
Starting point is 00:37:12 I would say you come the night before, Lexington before a big football game, the Friday night is going to be buzzing. Of course. Like, how old are you, sir? 31. 31.
Starting point is 00:37:24 So you can still hit the streets and not feel like an old man. So like you, you should go. around downtown Lexington and sort of soak up a big Essie, because there'll be Alabama fans everywhere, right? They'll be Alabama fans everywhere. So that will be fun too. Then on Saturday Day, I would say, you know, do KS Bar at some point during the opening.
Starting point is 00:37:48 I do think in the morning, I also think that the tailgate will be as good as it can be. Yep. Right? For an Alabama game, there'll be Alabama fans everywhere. tailgating. Like they will kind of take up Nicholasville Road tailgating as well and then, you know, just soak up
Starting point is 00:38:07 every minute. And then when the game is over if we win, the city will lose its collective minds and you can just get caught up in the wave if we lose, go have a nice dinner somewhere and enjoy the way. But what a great first weekend to go watch a college football game.
Starting point is 00:38:23 Right, right. Thank you guys. Appreciate it. All right. So, Shannon, you got the two calls. Yeah. All right, let's see if you can tell which one was which. All right, for a guess. You just play one of them randomly right now. Okay. Great performance by Jackson Jelkin.
Starting point is 00:38:41 Hammer high. Is it deep enough? Back he goes. A grand slam by Braxton Van Cleave. His first home run as a Wildcat is a walk-off as Kentucky beats Vanderbill. Okay. Now, there's that one. Yes.
Starting point is 00:39:02 Now, let's play the other one. Owens, the tying run at third, Tarnish at second. The one-one. Swung on, high-fly ball, right field. Back goes Johnstone at the wall. It's gone! It's gone! It's gone!
Starting point is 00:39:21 And slam by Braxton Van Cleave! Now can you tell Shannon which one was which? Yes, I can't. I think Dix was better than we gave him credit for, but Dairns was great. It was. Yeah. Yeah, you kind of said, home run. And on the wall, Grand Slam.
Starting point is 00:39:43 He got into it a little bit. Sorry. Home run. Grand Slam. It's a little more than that. A little more oomph. Jackson Jokin. Hammer high.
Starting point is 00:39:58 Is it deep enough? Back he goes. A grand slam by Braxton Van Lange. I think you were hearing the PA announcer at first down there. I mean, I was all stick by my gosh. Nevertheless, both were good. We still lost the series. There he goes.
Starting point is 00:40:21 It's red. You get red. He's good people. I believe you. It doesn't mean that the call was good. Someone could be good people and it was not. There could, you agree with me, there could have been more energy. He gets it because he's one of us.
Starting point is 00:40:37 There we go. All right, fair enough. Fair enough. I will allow that one. physical therapy. Let's say you get strained because you get too excited. The disclaimers as long as the ad. Yes. Usually longer. Sometimes longer. So we do need to make a pick. The NBA playoffs tonight. Let's see. I'll just pick a random game here. Let's go Hawks Knicks. Knicks one game one.
Starting point is 00:46:03 It's on Peacock and NBC. Who you got? Knicks. Yeah, I agree. I'm going with the Knicks as well. Nix or a six and a half point favorite. Does that change anything? Nicks and cover. I'm going to say the Hawks. Yeah. I picked that magic game yesterday.
Starting point is 00:46:18 Oh, you did? Yeah, picked it on the website. I watched the Rockets and the Lakers Saturday night. Yeah, that's tough with Duran out. Poor Reed. And Luca didn't play for the Lakers and Duran didn't play for the Rockets. Reed didn't have his best game. Hurricanes played tonight, too.
Starting point is 00:46:33 Let's get another win. We won game one against Ottawa. Yeah. And do you see those two guys? They just fought right when it started? Did you see that, Shannon? No. First, I guess what?
Starting point is 00:46:44 Not play. They dropped the puck. And they dropped their gloves? The moment they dropped the puck, they both threw their gloves off and just fought. Why wait? But like nothing that even happened yet. And they asked the guy on the hurricanes, why did you all fight? And he goes, he just looked at me and he had to look like he wanted to fight.
Starting point is 00:47:01 So we fought. And they said, well, did you discuss it before? And they're like, no. Sometimes you just know a guy wants to fight. And everybody else just kind of circles around him and let him go. Like, it's only in hockey. Yep. Shannon, do you agree?
Starting point is 00:47:12 Sometimes you just look at a guy and you know he wants to fight? I've never looked at a guy and just knew he wanted to fight. Guys never looked at me like that, though. And they just fight. And then one of them gets knocked to the ground and then it's over. And then, you know what? They get right back up and start playing again. Yep.
Starting point is 00:47:24 Like nothing ever happened. I saw your Reds got in a fight with the Giants. They couldn't beat them so they tried to beat him up at the end of that game. First of all, we won that series. And then they did try. That guy cussed. No cussing. Wait till the next time they play.
Starting point is 00:47:35 When they play in September, somebody's getting hit in the head. Oh, there's no doubt. They remember that. They remember that. Yeah, that's going to be a thing. All right, what about the guy that crashed his... Oh, yeah. Virginia Tech? Yeah, what do we think about it? The dude has carrying the American flag.
Starting point is 00:47:51 Everybody's eyes are on him coming in. Hits the scoreboard. Nails the scoreboard. I mean, it hits the scoreboard hard. Yes, he does. Do we ever hear what his injury was? No injuries. He was fine. Yeah. Apparently he wasn't injured. He wasn't hurt at all.
Starting point is 00:48:04 But I can imagine how scared and embarrassed you would be. the same time. Yeah, because then he was, it was like a cartoon. He was just hanging there the whole time. For 20 minutes, they brought out a crane. The first one wasn't long enough. They were bringing a second crane to get him down. And he's just hanging there.
Starting point is 00:48:19 He's just hanging off the scoreboard. No more flyovers. My favorite part of the whole story is that he had to hang there for 20, 30 minutes waiting to try to get him down. And no, you can't go anywhere. He's just hanging there. But here's my question, though, about it. People say no more flyover.
Starting point is 00:48:36 But like most of the time it works. Maybe he's like, you get assigned the C team for the Virginia Tech Spring Day, right? Well, the other guy didn't even land in the stadium. He landed over in a field. It was like a crossway. Oh, he did. Yeah, I don't think anybody landed there was two of them. There was three.
Starting point is 00:48:50 Three. The first guy landed, but he came in hot. I think he kind of tell. He came in hot. Then the second and third guy didn't even make it in the stadium. So you'd rather be the guy who missed the stadium all together. Oh, yeah. Yeah, he's the winner in this situation.
Starting point is 00:49:03 Yeah, and he was the worst of the group. He had one job. Land somewhere on the field. But see, it's a good tidbit. Because, you know, when you see people at the Super Bowl and stuff, they got to be the head of their sky jumping class. Oh, yes. But the other people have to practice somewhere. Virginia Tech Spring game.
Starting point is 00:49:19 And we learned that they practiced by running into the scoreboard. But the thing is, that could have been a lot worse. What if he had landed on people? Yeah. Yeah, it could have been a lot worse. You know, I mean, that's a huge stadium. He could have just landed on someone. It looked like when he hit the scoreboard, some pieces fell off.
Starting point is 00:49:35 It could have been maybe a big piece of hurt somebody sitting below. the scoreboard? Yeah. I mean, and what's the payoff there? I mean, what do you really get? Some guys coming in with an American play.
Starting point is 00:49:44 I've seen them doing it at UK. It's cool when they land and hand the football or whatever. Yes. Maybe on a windy day, you kind of cancel the plans if it's a windy day. Here's a light bulb. Did you all like the San Antonio Spurs crowd last night? They were dressed.
Starting point is 00:49:59 Yeah, very coordinated. I liked it. I was amazed. First of all, you know, you always see wide out or blue and white. Yeah. They went multi-co. Yes, they did.
Starting point is 00:50:09 They had a whole fiesta. You know. Was that what it was? It was called fiesta night. Okay. And so they were fiestaed. And the thing was, Shannon, they made everybody do it. And apparently they scoreboard shamed people who weren't doing it.
Starting point is 00:50:23 As they should. So they would, so during the breaks, they would shoot the camera on anyone down low not wearing it. And everyone would yell at them until they put their t-shirt. I love that. But they gave them the T-shirts, though, right? They gave them the T-shirts. See, that's part of it. right there. When you have the t-shirt right there, you have no excuse not to put it on and
Starting point is 00:50:40 participate. Are you good with the scoreboard shaming? Yes. Yes. Yes. A hundred percent. See, I would I just secretly would love that at Ruppereen. I would love to watch them. If the people that did it were really ruthless and they went to like all those people that own these hoity tooty Keenland boxes and they were like, yeah, I understand, sir, that's a suit. Put that t-shirt. And they were, on. I would love it. Hey, hey, Rocky Adkins, get your t-shirt on. We're too afraid they're going to, you know. Robert Stivers, I know you don't wear medium, but put it on.
Starting point is 00:51:19 They don't want to make a donor upset. Right? That's what I want to see him do. I don't know if that's going to happen at Rubberina. But I love the idea. Who's next? Will. Will. Go ahead, Will. Matt, switching to baseball, back to baseball real quick, was raised in Hopkinsville in the 70s when we had three TV channels. The other channel was the education channel.
Starting point is 00:51:47 The guy that owned that channel in Hopkinsville was a big Reds fan. He figured out a way to pirate Reds games with Al Michaels doing the commentating in the 70s. I've been a Reds fan ever since. It only lasted about two years, though, because he got caught. So he would pirate the game, I mean, I love that. He would pirate the game, the Reds games and put them on local PBS. Yeah, they were on the TVF and there were no commercials. You remember on the Braves, Telecast, Shannon, when we were kids,
Starting point is 00:52:24 it would always go, this game is owned and copyrighted by the, any used to. It was for the guy in Hopkinsville. Exactly. That's why they did it. It was the guy in Hopkinsville. Well, I appreciate the call. I didn't realize that. There are a lot of Reds fans in Hopkinsville.
Starting point is 00:52:41 Now we know why. Never knew that story, but I love the fact that the guy figured out a way to broadcast the Reds games for everybody. Yeah. Well, I've enjoyed it. I really have to say, though, they got to replace Barry Larkin. I mean, he makes Dick Gabriel sound excited during these calls. I haven't heard them.
