And Sean Clements.
Starting point is 00:00:25 We host the podcast, Hollywood Handbook. Each week, we talk to someone in show business and try to help them with their careers and see what they have to offer us. Everyone has a good time and no one gets mad at their publicists for letting them do our show. We've had a lot of great guests like Sarah Sherman, Adam Scott, Danny McBride, Ben Stillard, and a lot of other big shots that wouldn't be where they are without us.
Starting point is 00:00:45 Listen to Hollywood Handbook on the IHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. On the new podcast Solita, we share the messy reality of traveling alone as a woman. I can wait four hours for the next bus or this random dude is offering me. a ride on his motorcycle. I chose option B. I'm Julie Pinero, and I travel by myself because it's a rare space where I can say yes without asking anyone else first. I'm on a mission to reclaim the word Solita, trading the pity for possibility. Listen to Solita on the Iheart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Our hometown is not a test tube. 90 miles northeast of Nashville, a battle for the
Starting point is 00:01:32 future of America plays out in one small town. Developers with right-wing ties have purchased hundreds of acres of land. We need cities on a shining hill. This is Our Town, a podcast about what happens when a small town becomes the site of a social experiment and fights back. Guess you didn't move in on a bunch of dumb hillbillies now, did you? Listen to Our Town on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey, it's Ryan Lemon from Kentucky Sports Radio. I'm not just a radio guy. I'm also a realtor.
Starting point is 00:02:05 I talk to homeowners all the time. and what's the one thing many homeowners have but rarely think about. It's equity. It's something that can quietly grow over time while you're busy living your life. And for many homeowners, it can be an opportunity they haven't explored. Whether you're planning home improvements or preparing for whatever it comes next, your home's equity may be able to help you. It's important to understand what's available and to find out the right option that fits your goals.
Starting point is 00:02:26 For me, I wanted to put a pool in my backyard and finish my basement. I didn't have the money available, so I went to stock the mortgage. They found the equity that already built up in my house was able to use to install my pool and finish the basement. I would have been able to do it without them. As Stockton Mortgage, they'll walk you through the possibilities. Answer your questions and help you understand your next step. If it's been a while since you've looked into your homes by you, now might be a great time to start the conversation.

Hour number two, Kentucky Sports Radio 859-2-80-2287.
Starting point is 00:03:16 Text machine is 772-7-4-574-5-25-4. One person writes, Matt, what if Eli Capoludo just believes in the principle behind his vote? It doesn't always have to be self-interest. Okay, but what's the principle? What's the principle behind his vote? Is the principle that you should... I mean, remember, the issue for Mark Mitchell is just transferring in the conference. So are you saying to me that there's a principle against inter-conference transfers?
Starting point is 00:03:51 Okay, but we took like three in the last two years. Yeah, didn't seem to speak up. Right. So is that really a principle we believe in? And not even for this season. There are already a bunch of them this season. Travis Perry went to Ole Miss. We took Diabate.
Starting point is 00:04:11 We took Aberdeen. We took O'way. So what's the principal? The only principle this would be is I do not believe players who didn't think they had a fifth year should be able to go to an intra-conference school if they didn't put their name in the portal after the football arbitrary deadline. Drew, that's a pretty random principle, isn't it? It is.
Starting point is 00:04:40 You know, I could see why someone trying to help Capitol and the UK make that case, but I don't feel like that was what actually happened here. Yeah. All right, let's go over a couple things here that folks, I'm happy, Ryan, well, I'm happy slash melancholy. The Reds wave, T.J. Friedel. Finally, he's not in my life anymore. I knew that would make you happy.
Starting point is 00:05:02 So that's good. He literally has not, he's been on the team since the All-Star game, Ryan, and hasn't gotten one hit. He's hitting like, what, $150. Think about that. But think about it. How could you not even get a hit? Just one. Just you would think one time it would just wiggle through.
Starting point is 00:05:22 Yeah. He has hit the ball the softest of any player, Shannon, in the 17 years since they've started measuring how hard you hit it. Guys out there playing with a wiffle ball bad, it sounds like. He is. He's playing with a spaghetti noodle. That's what he plays with. They also got rid of Ahuohaneo Suarez, who also has been bad.
Starting point is 00:05:44 But Ryan, I've always kind of liked him. And he hit a grand slam yesterday to help us make. We were down 9 to 3 in the 9th inning and came back on 1 yesterday for no good reason. So I guess if you're going to go out, go out with a grand slam in the night, right? Yeah, no kidding. He seems like he, obviously I don't know him, but he seems like a locker room guy, like everybody seems to like him. But he still hit like 20 home runs this year, didn't he?
Starting point is 00:06:07 I think he hit 19. But he's just been bad. He's hitting like 208. So I understand, you know, I understand why they decided to let him go. But it was a little bit of a bummer. Tom Brady is doing a campaign, Shannon, for leather pants. Yeah. At the age of 49, he's going to be a spokes.
Starting point is 00:06:28 for a leather pants brand, which begs the question is 49 years old, too old to wear leather pants. Unless you're a rock star, yeah. I mean, I guess if you're Vince Nill, you can wear them until you're in your 70s or if you're Mick Jagger. Don't you wear leather pants? No, don't have leather pants. Those are jeans. You don't? No. No.
Starting point is 00:06:51 I feel like you should. I've got spandex for wrestling, but I don't have leather pants. So you wouldn't go on stage in leather pants? Probably not. No. It's not a no. Probably not. It's not a no. If someone brought you a nice pair of leather pants, would you wear them?
Starting point is 00:07:08 If I'm opening for the Rolling Stones in front of 50,000 people, maybe. Yes. Also, it's like how many people before you pull out the leather pants? Oh, yeah. It's a special occasion. I'm not going grocery shopping. So three doors down, three doors down over there. What's the place that you always like to play?
Starting point is 00:07:24 Yes. But yeah, pick another band. Three doors now is not a band anymore. Another singer died. Oh. Well, rest in peace. They're a band in our hearts. Brad Arnold.
Starting point is 00:07:36 Rest in peace. But regardless, no, there's the thing. Not many 49-year-old should be wearing leather pants. I get where you're going with this. So is Tom Brady one that should be, like, is it, because he doesn't feel 49. Mm-mm. He looks. But do you think at 49 he should wear leather pants?
Starting point is 00:07:55 To each their own, I will say that he is probably one of the few 49-year-old men on planet Earth that could pull it off. Okay. You know, because he's in good shape. But not many 49-year-old men should be wearing leather pants or men in general, really. Do you think 49-year-old men should wear leather pants? Should, like, I think all 49-year-old men should just walk around on leather pants? No. But if you are 49 and you have the urge to wear leather pants, I say go for it.
Starting point is 00:08:25 Rock those leather pants. You're good with it. Wear whatever you want to wear. But all 49-year-olds, I lean, know that we should not just be walking around in leather pants. I turn 48 tomorrow. Should I wear? Should I be wearing leather pants?
Starting point is 00:08:40 Yes. Saturday to the party. I think without a doubt. No, the remote. I know what I'm getting you now for your birthday. There you go. Oh, you want me to wear them to a firm roofing tomorrow? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:08:50 We get you leather pants for your birthday tomorrow. No, I don't. I would just feel stupid. I would just feel stupid. Well, Ryan does it all the time for the sake of the show. It's your turn. How about you put him on? That's true, but I think that's Ryan's like, I think that's what he does.
Starting point is 00:09:06 I think that's his role in some ways. I just would feel, I think I would feel like, it's not that I feel like I would look bad, although I probably would. It was just that I would feel like I was trying to be, I was trying too hard. You know what I mean? It's okay. You can put them on. If you're Tom Brady, I think you can pull it off. Most like Drew said, most of you're good with Tom Brady wearing leather pants.
Starting point is 00:09:30 You're good with Tom Brady wearing leather pants. I think he's one of the few 49-year-olds, I would say. You say Matt can't pull it off. You're saying Matt cannot pull off the leather pants. It sounds like you don't think I can pull it off. You don't believe in Matt. I think you can pull it off only at a firm roofing tomorrow. I think we need to try it out.
Starting point is 00:09:47 I feel like affirmed roofing is not the place to bring out leather pants. Rupers do not wear leather. Yeah, you snag it on a nail. You can't be wearing it. leather pants on a roof. Well, let me ask you this. Of the six of us on the show, let's rank likelihood to wear leather pants. Mario is a clear number one. Absolutely. Mario is probably wearing them right now. Probably so. I've seen Mario, I've seen wear leather pants, I believe. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes,
Starting point is 00:10:13 he's worn them. I know I've seen him. He admitted it. Yeah, I thought I'd seen him. All right. Shannon is second. I'd say Billy is second. See, I have you, just because just because you're a rock star. I can see you on stage. Yeah. Billy is definitely third. Billy is the most likely to wear them, think they look good, and then have everybody go, what are you doing?
Starting point is 00:10:39 Agreed, though. Could you see us like having a night out and Billy just shows up in leather pants and we're like, what are you doing? Yeah. Bachelor party the other day. Billy's got the chaps on, the leather chaps. Yeah. I can see it.
Starting point is 00:10:53 like a cowboy. I agree. Then I would say, for joking purposes, Ryan would do it. I'd put him forth. And then Drew and I are both unlikely to do it. I might be slightly more likely because Drew's married.
Starting point is 00:11:11 I think I'd be slightly more likely. You do? Why? I'm open to it. I'm not against it. I don't have an occasion yet, but you know, if I find myself a nice pair, fit well.
Starting point is 00:11:23 I don't even get them. Taylored. I'll rock some leather. Taylor leather pants. Okay. Well, I guess I'm least likely, so maybe I should show up to a firm roofing tomorrow and do it. By the way, if you come to a firm roofing, it is a different address than what will be on your Google Maps. Yes.
Starting point is 00:11:38 So you might want to write this down. It's 741 Price Avenue. It's in downtown. So it's in a different place. So I guess it's a new building, which is why we're coming. So 741 Price Avenue. We're going to put that out on all our socials, but we'd love to have you come tomorrow,
Starting point is 00:11:56 but just so you know, it's not on your Google Maps where you're going. Did you all see the Drew Jason Tatum's dad? First of all, there's a new podcast that's all for dads of NBA players. So it's just dads of NBA players interviewing other dads of NBA players. What could possibly Drew go wrong with this? I like it. This is where we get the stuff they're not supposed to say.
Starting point is 00:12:24 That's exactly right. Jason Tatum's dad was on it. He was the first guest and said that the Celtics roster isn't very good, and he doesn't think they can win it this year. See? Of course, his son still plays on the Celtics roster. Do you think the dad should not have said that? Dad's just telling it like it is.
Starting point is 00:12:45 Yeah. I'm sure there's a lot of dads out there of little league teams. They go, you know what, our team sucks. you know, and they know they don't have a good roster. But do you say it on a podcast when your son still has to play? Yeah, it's his dad. It's not him saying. Like should Ryan, when his son played for Frederick Douglas, go, yeah, we're not very good this year.
Starting point is 00:13:05 We're going to lose our next few games. Do you think he should do that? If he wants to. I think a dad can say that. But yeah, he was a when your best, when your son is the best player. on the team. I guess you've got to be a little bit careful, but a dad can say it for sure. Well, let's put it a different way. Drew, let's say that Ryan were to be replaced on KSR one day when he retires with Jack Pilgrim. Would you want your dad going on a podcast to go, yeah, KSR's not as good now?
Starting point is 00:13:40 I don't have a problem with him saying it, but into a NBA podcast probably shouldn't make it so official you're saying in an interview and recording it. It's entertaining. It's why I'm I like that the dads are having the podcast. No. What you want your dad on a media podcast to say, yeah, it's just not as good since we got rid of Ryan and replaced him with whoever. Yeah, no. If he's saying that at the golf course, just in the clubhouse, that's fine. I think the podcast takes it to another level.
Starting point is 00:14:08 Shannon, what do you think? By the way, I'm for this podcast because NBA dads are off their rocker. They all wish they play. Like, you know who the host is? Lovar Ball is one of the hosts. Oh, my. He threatened to slap Tatum's dad when he says. said this yesterday. He said, I should slap you for not picking your son's team.
Starting point is 00:14:25 LeVar Ball's dad is one of the hosts, which I can't think of Shannon a better person to get to host this than Lovar Ball's dad. Never lost. Wait a minute, which ball? Who's what? He's the dad of all the balls. Lamello, DeAngelo, whatever. He's the big ball. But Lavaar Ball's the one I remember. Go ahead, Shannon. Would you want to, would you want to, would you want your dad to be on one of these? I don't think I wanted to encourage him to say things about my teammates, but at the same time, I mean, he has his own opinion, he's his own person. I don't necessarily have the same views as everything that my dad thinks about everything in life.
Starting point is 00:14:59 And maybe, you know, we could have differing opinions. And I'd be all right with it, I guess. I could tell you who wouldn't do this, Ryan, is Larry. Not a chance. Well, he says good things about everybody, though. He doesn't have a bad thing to say about anybody. First of all, Larry would only remember Ryan's name. That's the only person on the show.
Starting point is 00:15:21 And then he would say, he would think we are all amazing. Like he would be, he would love everyone on every show because that's what a good person. He's an amazing person. That's exactly right. Jason Tatum's dad has got a little more. I could see Ryan, though, being on a dad podcast. Couldn't you, Drew? Like, I could totally see him being on a dad podcast and just ripping on Lexington Middle Schoolers.
Starting point is 00:15:48 left and right. Yeah, like calling out other dads because their kids are getting more playing time. So-so's not even good. He's playing in front of my kids. That's exactly right. If there was a Lexington High School Sports podcast, Ryan would be the Lavar Ball of that podcast without question. Who's next? Joey.
Starting point is 00:16:10 Joey, go ahead, Joey. Hi, guys. We're such sticklers in the SEC. We let Lane Kippen up and just quit. LSU and or, oh, miss in the play,
Starting point is 00:16:22 you know what I mean. So come on. I agree. Give me a break. But anyways, you know, much money, Kentucky probably makes the SEC
Starting point is 00:16:31 and how long as far as basketball goes, we packed the SEC, I'm sure, throughout years. Yeah, I agree. I agree with you. And it's like,
Starting point is 00:16:40 Greg, Sanky, if you want to do it, push that button if I'm Pope. But I, I'm saying, you know, I don't know,
Starting point is 00:16:47 man. It's just, I agree with that. Yeah, I agree with that. Go ahead. Sheda Mitchell, man. Just hang in there, dude. You'll have a family for life.
Starting point is 00:16:57 It may be one season, but it's a, you know, you'll be here for life, dude. You'll always be able to come back. Please hang in there for us. I agree with that. Totally. And you're right. That would be, if it wasn't for us, I mean, SEC basketball has gotten a lot better, but the one consistent thing has always been Kentucky,
Starting point is 00:17:19 and I don't think you punish that program. If you're looking for a great family night out, mark your calendar. It's Madisonville's Illuminated the Mar Park event. It is tomorrow, 4 to 10, tethered balloon rides, hot air balloon glow, delicious food vendors, unique retail vendors, activities for all ages, bring your lawn chairs, Friday, August 28, 4 to 10 at Mar Park in Madisonville for Matt. Madisonville illuminated.
Starting point is 00:17:47 Go check it out at Madisonvilleliving.com. We will see you under the glow in Madisonville. We'll take a break. Take your calls. KSR. The new Red Bull Dragonberry and Tropic Berry Energizers now at McDonald's. Made with freeze-dried fruit and an electric burst of flavor. The all-new Red Bull Energizers.
Starting point is 00:18:08 Now at McDonald's. This product may not be right for you. High in caffeine, details of McDonald's. com.ca. at participating Canadian restaurants excluding Quebec. Hey, this is Hayes Davenport. And Sean Clements. We host the podcast, Hollywood Handbook on the Big Money Players Network.
Starting point is 00:18:22 Our show is extremely accessible to first-time listeners. Each week, we talk to someone in show business, aka the biz, and try to help them with their careers and see what they have to offer us. Everyone has a good time, and no one gets mad at their publicists for letting them do our show. We've had a lot of great guests like Sarah Sherman. Not that great. Actually, can you help me shape this? How about we flip it on his head?
Starting point is 00:18:45 How about we flip this script? What is the surprise woman? Actually, you think is the straight man is actually the one who's acting weird. Adam Scott, this entire time you've been expecting Adam Sandler to come to visit the show. I would never expect. I would never set expectations for something like that to happen. If the universe allows for something like that to happen. I'm open to it.
Starting point is 00:19:14 I'm always going to accept. You know, Danny McBride, fine. Yeah, it's all this fragile masculinity. Exuding. I could smell it walking down the hallway, to be honest with you. I was like, is that weed? Nope, it's fragile masculinity. Ben Stiller, no.
Starting point is 00:19:31 Because a lot of times, out of context, people don't get it or even know what a circle is. You know what I mean? They're like, oh, what's a state. Everyone's so dumb. And fake. Right. fake and also not interested
Starting point is 00:19:44 or just like, oh, I've got my life, I don't care about your life. And a lot of other big shots that wouldn't be where they are without us. Oh, and by the way, Will Ferrell told us personally he loves the show and he wants to be a guest on every episode, but he's just so busy. Listen to Hollywood Handbook on the Iheart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:20:03 On the new podcast Solita, we share the messy reality of traveling alone as a woman. I can wait four hours for the next bus or this random dude is offering me a ride on his motorcycle. I chose option B. I'm Julie Pinero, and I travel by myself because it's a rare space where I can say yes without asking anyone else first. I'm on a mission to reclaim the word solita, trading the pity for possibility. Every time I tried to be alone, I kept meeting people and they were like, you smiled at us. Not a lot of people smile around here. It's when you're alone that you're most receptive to the world as it is,
Starting point is 00:20:41 and not the lies you're sold about it. It can be a time where you push your limits, change your mind, or wake up to a new version of yourself. So whether you're a solo travel veteran or you're too nervous to book your first trip, I hope you listen to Solita on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:21:03 I'm Munga shit together, and I'm back with a new season of the podcast, Skyline Drive. This time I'm diving into a rabbit hole of peptides, organoids, blood boys, blue zones. and brain replacement to try to understand what this longevity obsession is all about and what it really means to live forever, for all of us. I learned about some rad science.
Starting point is 00:21:25 I can make a brain for you, and then we can test what draw is the best for your brain, as opposed to his brain. Here are some hard truths. I would expect Indians to age faster, but I did not expect it to be almost a four-trial. five-year acceleration. And get myself into a world of trouble.
Starting point is 00:21:48 I'd say probably start bone smashing. That doesn't work. To make it look more defined. They say it works. I don't know. Listen to Skyline Drive, How to Live Forever on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast.
Starting point is 00:22:04 All right, so somebody AIed me in leather pants. And now, Shannon and I wouldn't wear them. I feel like that looks good. Oh, you're missing as a cigarette in your hand, you'd be, pull off the look. perfectly. If I had a cigarette, what role would I be playing? I don't think it looks bad, at least on the AI. See, we're talking to leather pants next thing. I'm not sure if they look that way in real life. One guy, one person writes in and goes, Matt, I'm six foot, 180, and
Starting point is 00:22:32 78 years old, and I still will wear leather pants from time to time. I bet he's got a Harley too. I bet he's a biker. Oh, that's true. That's a whole other kind of leather pants person, right? The Harley people. sure yeah 78 though I think there's a pass like at 49 it can be kind of weird but when you're 78 Drew I think you should be able to do whatever you want
Starting point is 00:22:57 if you want to wear leather pants at 78 you do your thing if you want to wear no pants at 78 as long as you're not in public there's not certain places when you get to that age whatever man you've made it that far congratulations live your best life
Starting point is 00:23:12 looking forward to it on my end When person writes, Matt, I'm looking forward to Sunday, the fantasy draft. I'm very surprised you have decided to do this, though, going public with people and spend the Sunday afternoon. I'm a little surprised I am too. But Sunday, Drew, we are meeting 10 fans and Billy, and we are at the cover zero fantasy league. We're doing it, I believe, in Midway. Is that right? Is that where we're doing this?
Starting point is 00:23:42 We are. Did I see it's a potluck? Or did I dream that? We're supposed to each bring our own dish. Did Billy make it a potluck? This feels like a Billy decision. You know, it's a good question. Because I didn't make it a potluck, did you?
Starting point is 00:23:57 We're going to a restaurant and Billy decided to make it a potluck. How does that work? You should be buying the food of a restaurant you're going to. You're going to be sitting there using the space. He just said, I think we're going to do a potluck. And I went, oh, well, okay. They were probably going to kick you guys out of there. We're going to be there all day.
Starting point is 00:24:17 This is a two, three-hour thing, and he wants us to bring a potluck to a restaurant. I would not allow that at my restaurant. I can't believe the restaurant agreed to this. I'm sure part of the deal they thought they're going to make a lot of money. Why did Billy want it to be a potluck? Who said they agreed to it? What kind of fantasy draft do people bring their own food? I wouldn't even plan to eat.
Starting point is 00:24:39 Not at a restaurant. it's in somebody's basement, I guess you would, but not in a restaurant. So now I'm nervous about a dish. Yeah. It's been weighing on me all week. Like a casserole. Can of green beans. I'm doing more research on my dish than my actual team.
Starting point is 00:24:54 This is like an extra layer of pressure here. I don't understand how we let Billy decide that it was a potluck. Your potluck is order something from the restaurant and bring it over to the table. Oh, that's a good idea. Just make the restaurant the potluck. Yeah. Oh, order something? Yeah, order a couple appetizers from the restaurant.
Starting point is 00:25:13 Here's my, here's what I brought. It's actually not a terrible idea. Who's up next? Syndicate done. Done. How are you, syndicate? I'm doing great, guys. You guys were talking about country hams earlier.
Starting point is 00:25:27 I cook peppers and hams every year. And I always would be afraid that you would burn it. Like, what if you had a pressure that's on the cook that has to cook that ham? Because the process is a stringent. You have to soak them for, like, two days. and as a trick to it to get the salt out of it, you peel a potato and put it in the water, then it pulls a salt out of it.
Starting point is 00:25:48 Then you have to bake it and bone it. That's the key is getting the bone out of it without turning the ham up, then wrapping it up and chilling it, then put it on a slice and slice it. But the process is stringent. You have to do all that. You have to do all those things you just said to cook a ham.
Starting point is 00:26:03 Say that again. Give me the steps. What are the steps? Okay, so I'm going to give it off the whole run down. So as soon as you get the ham, you have to wash it because it's been hanging for about a year or two. Curate. So most of the times when they do, it's a good.
Starting point is 00:26:17 You got to wash it down. You get a cooler. You want to soak it. It's submers it in water. Add about two cups of apple cider vinegar and then peel a potato and stick it in the water and let it sit in there for about a day or two. So I get a potato. I put it just in water with a potato.
Starting point is 00:26:34 And what does that do? Applesider vinegar. Apples cider vinegar is just as the people. H balance inside the ham. So it kills all the bacteria. But what is the potato? The potato pulls the salt, it pulls the sodium out of the ham because country ham is very salty.
Starting point is 00:26:51 And if you don't cook it right, sometimes the salt can be very overburdened. So if you, an old lady taught me the trick. So if you put a potato in there, it'll pull the salt out of the ham. Then you use all-spiced cinnamon's clothes, brown sugar, water, put it in a pan, and bake it at $3.50 for five hours. Then you pull it out and you have to let it, you have to carefully trim the fat off of it and then pull the bone out of the middle. It's like four bones in it.
Starting point is 00:27:18 You got to get all those bones out of it without turning the ham up. Then you wrap it up in foil and let it chill in the refrigerator for about a day or so. Then you can slice it and eat it. Get all that, Matt. Too much. Wow. Well, I wrote it down.
Starting point is 00:27:33 I took hundreds of them every year. But, Syndicate, that feels like so much work. to do. Is that what everyone does? They all put a potato down and, okay. Some people use cherry coke. Some people wrap them up in blankets, like a whole blanket. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:27:51 What do you mean? There's a hundred different ways to cook them. What do they use cherry Coke for? So when they cook them, like, they'll pour a cherry Coke inside of the pot when they cook it with it for flavor. There's a hundred different old time recipe. And it's an old recipe. like this is something like grandmamas do.
Starting point is 00:28:09 There's not too many people still that knows how to cook the country ham. It's almost a lost heart. All right. Well, I appreciate it, Syndicate. Cherry Coke, Drew. Did you see that coming? I did not. I know it's a complicated process,
Starting point is 00:28:24 and there's lots of methods. I didn't know throwing a potato in the salt water or cherry Coke could help out. I did Shannon write all that down. I wrote all those steps. Well, good. I know what we're having Saturday when we come over. You'll be cooking us a kitchen ham. Well, I don't have enough time.
Starting point is 00:28:37 It's a six-day process, apparently. It's two days, he said. You get a couple days here. Start today. We'll have it Saturday. I don't buy a potato. I do none of that. A cherry Coke.
Starting point is 00:28:48 Who's next? Let's go to Will. Will, you got about a minute. Go. Yeah, just a couple points regarding this Mitchell situation. I haven't heard you talk about the other side of it. So Mitchell had three teammates, Jacob Cruz, Sean Phillips, Javon Porter, that were all seniors that did enter the portal.
Starting point is 00:29:06 So is it not hard to argue that he like to say he didn't know he was supposed to enter the portal? Well, I didn't know that fact that that would hurt you. That would hurt you in court. But, I mean, that was true. That fact would have still been true when he was granted his eligibility by the Kentucky courts. So that fact probably works against him, but he's already won once with that fact out there. So hopefully that wouldn't crush it. No, I didn't know that, though.
Starting point is 00:29:37 Appreciate the info. We'll take a break. Be right back. KSR. T.J. Smith, personal injury attorney. Call T.J. He'll make them pay. Now, more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage.
Starting point is 00:29:50 Here's Matt Jones. I love this song. Not this version you're playing, but the live version. Right. Is this the kinks? It is, yeah. This is the cherry cola version. Yes.
Starting point is 00:30:01 Is there another version? Well, he just says Coca-Cola. This is the cherry cola version. Gotcha. One I've heard, I think it says cherry cola. One person writes, Shannon playing the cherry cola song on the way out is why he's the best at his job. Well, that's very nice. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:30:16 Savage Garden. It was the other one. Not a whole lot of cherry cola songs out there. But the fact that there's two of them is pretty amazing. There are very few Mr. Pib or Dr. Pepper songs, are there? No, there's ski, the Kentucky headhunters. There's a ski song. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:30:32 Is there any song? Oh, yeah, that's right. Yeah, they do. They do. So there's three. Is there any Dr. Pepper song? Sergeant Pepper, but not Dr. Pepper. Sprite.
Starting point is 00:30:44 Do they have a song? I feel like Coke is in a lot of songs. Pepsi, I don't think, is in very many songs. Not that I, I mean, I'm sure there's one out there if we've looked it up, none that come to mind. Can you think of a Pepsi song, Drew, a song that says Pepsi? First of all, it doesn't really rhyme well. Pepsi with, like, Cripsy. I mean, there's not.
Starting point is 00:31:06 orange crush is in, you know, some. It's a drink. Yeah. Yeah. One person writes, I think Drew should make a country ham for the potluck. I thought about it. A little short on time, like you said, need a little more. Maybe I'll pick one up at Cracker Barrel and claim it as my own.
Starting point is 00:31:25 I think that's probably what you ought to do. I love country ham. I think country ham is great. It's just you don't get to eat it very much. Clark's Pump and Shop, if you need to return and refresh and refuel, Clark's Pumple Shop is it. Football season is back. You got tailgating, you got work, you got school.
Starting point is 00:31:41 You come into Clark's Pumping Shop, get your rewards card. Next thing you know, free coffee on Friday. If you're coming to remote tomorrow, stop and get free coffee on the way. September, it goes through September 11th through October 30th at Clark's Pumping Shop, making communities proud in Kentucky for a long time. It is Clark's Pumping Shop. Ryan, let's talk just a second because I know you know, we'll know. the details, this Henry Clay
Starting point is 00:32:08 football coach. He has been charged with distributing materials. What's the charge exactly? It's distributing obscene materials to minor. Distributing obscene
Starting point is 00:32:22 materials to minors, which sounds bad, like really bad. But the story it looks to me is like he showed his players on his team, or at least the allegation is, on his phone a picture of like a woman, basically, a woman with her top off.
Starting point is 00:32:45 So essentially he showed a woman with her top off to his players. Is that correct? Is that what the charge is? That's the charges, yeah. But I guess the thing is he did it at school. It was on the school property. That may play into a little more. Okay.
Starting point is 00:33:01 So that was really stupid by this guy. Yeah. His name is Philip Hawkins. So let's just assume for sake of argument he did it. Like he was like, hey, guys, look at this hot woman. Do you think he should be fired for that, probably? Man, the fact that he did it to his players on school campus, you could probably talk me into firing him, and I like him.
Starting point is 00:33:34 I've known him for years. He's been a coach here in Lexington forever. He's like his second year, Henry Clay was at Bryan Station before that. But, man, you got to be smart than that. Yeah, you shouldn't be doing that at all. I mean, some of these kids are, what, 14? And you're showing them a picture of a woman? It doesn't say, it doesn't say.
Starting point is 00:33:51 But, I mean, it's high school, right? So we're talking about freshmen. It is high school. Freshman or 14. So if you're showing it, let's say, to a 14-year-old, take the extreme version. Yeah, I mean, that's. Does it make it? But like, what if they were like seniors?
Starting point is 00:34:04 Does that make a difference to you? Still shouldn't be doing it. I agree. It shouldn't be doing it. It's a little different. but it's still bad. Why would you do that as a coach? Do you think this?
Starting point is 00:34:14 I bet this happens more than we would think, Drew. Do you? Probably. Coach is trying to be like friends and cool is the word. Look at this. You know, that kind of thing.
Starting point is 00:34:27 When that's not why you're there, you're there to be the adult. Like should you do it to another adult while you're out on the workplace? No. And, you know, it doesn't matter what the age is. Honestly,
Starting point is 00:34:36 that's a great way to put it. If you, if it was a, adult you shouldn't do it at the word point right so if he did that he's probably going to have to be fired now he i think he's claiming he didn't do it right so if he didn't do it then that's a completely different situation he sounds like he's saying ryan he didn't do it am i correct that's what he's saying so now it's it's it's his word the coach against their word the the coach his players i mean that can be kind of an awful situation to get in well we'll see what happens he claims he claims it is
Starting point is 00:35:08 false um but you know this is henry play high school and this the season has just started so he's just getting suspended right now right or has he been suspended all year may may have been suspended all year i think it did just happen but shannon's right you can't do that even if it was adults you were showing like if you do that at the workplace nowadays you're getting fired yeah if someone complains why you're getting fired if you do it on a school property with students for sure you're getting fired yeah that's worse
Starting point is 00:35:41 I mean it's not like people say you can do it at work you can't do it at work but when you go to school it's fine that's another level we've settled the argument he should be fired if he did it
Starting point is 00:35:54 it'd be a weird thing to make up if he didn't that's true it would be his own players by his own players and let's say he doesn't get fired I mean, what kind of situation is that going to be? That's awkward for everybody involved at that point, right? I think it's going to be very awkward for everybody involved.
Starting point is 00:36:13 He's benching those players. They're not playing out on this season. I think it's going to be. I think it's going to be very awkward. I just was surprised it was a criminal charge, but I guess because it's minors is why that that's been the case. What's next? Pilcher.
Starting point is 00:36:28 Pilcher, is that what you said? Yes. Pilcher. Go ahead, Pilcher. Hey, Matt, and guys, I worked for state government for over a couple of decades. I'm still working professional musician. But with the state government, there was a phrase. And Matt, I'm sure you know this.
Starting point is 00:36:49 It's called arbitrary and capricious. Yes. And I think there's the potential for some of that here in this situation. Well, I think those words were used by the judge in Louisville. I don't know if they used the word of capricious, but I think he'd, did say that the decisions to allow players to play five years the last few years and allow them next year, but not this class, was arbitrary. What the SEC is going to say, sir, though, is basically this is not about the five years.
Starting point is 00:37:21 It's about the intra-conference transfer, and they're going to say, we've had this rule for a long time. And they're going to be right about that. But the difference is, in years past, they had told people they could do it because they knew they had eligibility. Mark Mitchell didn't think he had eligibility. But yes, I think you're right. I think the arbitrary standard is one that will apply here.
Starting point is 00:37:43 Well, and because he didn't know, I think he can argue the capricious part of it, too, because they're singling him out. When you started this call, sir, and you said you worked in state government and then you were a musician, is that right? Is that what you said? Oh, yeah. You can listen to me singing on a couple albums out on YouTube. So, Shannon, when he started this call, I didn't think he was calling about Arbitrary and Capricious.
Starting point is 00:38:11 I thought he was calling about the leather pants. I did too. Because I genuinely thought I thought you were calling to tell us that you would wear leather pants at the concert, but not at your government office. No. I'm 73. And I still work professionally, but no. No leather pants when you play? music?
Starting point is 00:38:34 No. Okay. I was just, I played top 40 and rock and roll and all kinds of stuff, but no leather pants, no. All right, I appreciate the call. What if Andy, what if Andy Beshear, Drew, just shows up to work in leather pants one day in honor of Tom Brady? Does that make you more or less likely to get the presidential nomination? Oh, much more likely.
Starting point is 00:38:54 I feel like the crazier you are, the higher you climbing politics lately. Could you see Andy Besheer? just in like his normal apparel waist up. Yeah. But instead of suit pants, just leather pants. And be like, this is bad Andy. The women with more votes. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:39:15 He gets a female vote. Yeah. Remember how much they fell in love with them during COVID? Imagine that was the most embarrassing part of COVID was the government me daddy, Andy Bashir stuff. Yeah. That was worse than the lockdowns. That was worse than the lockdowns.
Starting point is 00:39:34 The government. That's one we need to forget. Who's up next? Well, Bob and Jamestown is next. Oh, no. Go ahead, Bob. Matt, my father was the plant manager of Pillsbury in Hamilton, Ohio. Well, Pillsbury Field is the home of
Starting point is 00:39:57 Westside Little League and historic. You know, 400,000 kids play Little League baseball, but 400 actually eventually get play for the major leagues. And up there in that Westside Little League, Pillsbury Field. What? Go ahead. Go ahead. Up there at that Pillsbury Field, right next to the former plant,
Starting point is 00:40:23 Joe Nuxall was a legend. but through all these kids growing up through the years to west side little league actually joe never played there he played on the north side on the east side of hampton ohio but uh he was always a legend because he signed a reds contract the youngest player ever at 17 more importantly bob would you wear leather pants that's well i would definitely wear lehens oh wait me you have them now you wear them now i got a tight i got a titan von zipper bobber motorcycle, a shovelhead, a hundred horse power motor.
Starting point is 00:40:59 You got to wear them when you're riding a motorcycle, the asphalt, road rash. Yeah. Okay, I can't think about Bob and James Town's road rash, okay? I need to, I got to let you go. I let you do your Joe Nuxhall. If you're going to start talking
Starting point is 00:41:15 about your rashes, I can't do that. Cornbread hemp sprits. It comes in four refreshing flavors, and it's a delicious, I cannot bob in leather pants. shovelhead. Why did you have to put that in my head? Only 30 calories and no hangover.
Starting point is 00:41:30 It's cornbread social spreads. Find them at liquor barn, total wine, fresh market, coxas, and evergreen liquors. It is cornbread hemp.com slash action. Make your voice heard. Cornbread hemp. This is the good life. Got that memory and burning our head.
Starting point is 00:41:46 I hope he shows up tomorrow. If you show up, Bob, in those leather pants, you're getting kicked out from a farm roof. I'll be right back. The new Red Bull Dragonberry and Tropicberry energizers now at McDonald's. Made with freeze-dried fruit and an electric burst of flavor. The all-new Red Bull Energizers, now at McDonald's. This product may not be right for you.
Starting point is 00:42:10 High in caffeine, details at McDonald's.ca. Atmns. Hey, this is Hayes-Davonport. And Sean Clements. We host the podcast, Hollywood Handbook, on the Big Money Players Network. Our show is extremely accessible to first-time listeners. Each week we talk to someone in show business, aka The Biz,
Starting point is 00:42:27 and try to help them with their careers and see what they have to offer us. Everyone has a good time, and no one gets mad at their publicists for letting them do our show. We've had a lot of great guests like Sarah Sherman, not that great. Actually, can you help me shape this?
Starting point is 00:42:42 How about we flip it on his head? How about we flip this script? What is the surprise woman? Actually, you think is the straight man is actually the one who's acting weird. Adam Scott This entire time You've been expecting
Starting point is 00:42:58 Adam Sandler to come to visit the show I would never expect I would never set expectations for something like that to happen If the universe allows for something like that to happen I'm open to it I'm always going to accept You know Danny McBride Fine
Starting point is 00:43:17 Yeah it's all this fragile masculinity Exuding I could smell it walking on the hallway To be honest with you I was like, is that weed? Nope. It's fragile masculinity. Ben Stiller, no. Because a lot of times out of context, people don't get it or even know what a circle is.
Starting point is 00:43:35 You know what I mean? They're like, oh, what's a state. Everyone's so dumb. And fake. Right, fake and also not interested or just like, oh, I've got my life. I don't care about your life. And a lot of other big shots that wouldn't be where they are without us. Oh, and by the way, Will Farrell told us personally,
Starting point is 00:43:53 He loves the show and he wants to be a guest on every episode, but he's just so busy. Listen to Hollywood Handbook on the I Heart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. On the new podcast Solita, we share the messy reality of traveling alone as a woman. Every time I tried to be alone, I kept meeting people, and they were like,
Starting point is 00:44:33 you smiled at us, not a lot of people smile around here. It's when you're alone that you're most receptive to the world as it is, and not the lies you're sold about it. It can be a time where you push your limits, change your mind, or wake up to a new version of yourself. So whether you're a solo travel veteran or you're too nervous to book your, first trip. I hope you listen to Solita on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. I'm Munges shit together and I'm back with a new season of the podcast Skyline Drive. This time I'm diving into a rabbit hole of peptides, organoids, blood boys, blue zones and brain replacement to try to understand what this longevity obsession is all about and what it
Starting point is 00:45:18 really means to live forever for all of us. I learned about some rad science. I can make a brain for you, and then we can test what draw is the best for your brain, as opposed to his brain. Here's some hard truths. I would expect Indians to age faster, but I did not expect it to be almost a four to five-year acceleration. And get myself into a world of trouble. I'd say probably start bones smashing. That doesn't work. To make it look more defined.
Starting point is 00:45:51 They say it works. I don't know. Listen to Skyline Drive How to Live Forever on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. I like this. Pepsi, this is Luna and the Mountain Jets. This is our friend Layback Country Pickers' wife.
Starting point is 00:46:12 Okay. Oh. So she's got her own band? She's got her own band and she can play. Like she's, she is very talented. And she, when she plays in this band, she doesn't dress like she does with Layback. Uh-huh.
Starting point is 00:46:25 Right? Like she rocks. Yeah. I've never seen her way back, though, too. She does, yeah. She was at the KS Bar Grand Opening a long time. And costume. That's great.
Starting point is 00:46:38 That's great. 859-280-2287. So just to make sure we get all the facts, the newspaper story about the Henry Clay coach says it was more than just a topless woman. It was also lower areas, too. That does actually change it. Well, not change it. I think he probably needs to get fired anyway, but that does make it worse. However, there are also people saying that this wasn't the students.
Starting point is 00:47:08 It was a parent and that he claims he did not do it. I have no idea. But we were just sort of talking theoretically about if it turns out he did do it. You know, seasons going on, Ryan, so he is not coaching. You know, the team, you got to think this has an effect on the kids, right? Wouldn't you think? Like you said, the season just started. Last Friday was opening week.
Starting point is 00:47:29 This is week two. I know they've named an interim coach while he's been placed on leave right now. Yeah. Well, there you go. It's interesting. What was odd to me about it was like the charge, like you said, Ryan, was a misdemeanor. Because I thought if it was something that was more blatant than that, that you would be charged with a felony. So the fact that it was a misdemeanor, the whole thing is just odd to me.
Starting point is 00:47:56 which makes me wonder exactly, Ryan, what happened? Because if it was actual, like, pornography, they would charge him with a felony. But when it was a misdemeanor, Ryan, that's why I asked, I don't really know what it was that they say that he showed them. Do you know what I mean? Yeah. And the fact that it's on school campus, I think, is going to get fired. The school campus thing is pretty egregious. But Shannon made a good point.
Starting point is 00:48:19 You can't do that in any place in work, in the workplace now. And you shouldn't be able to because that's not what work is for. Who's next? Jerry. Jerry, go ahead, Jerry. Hey, Matt. To me what's more interesting about this thing with this new SEC rule is Greg Sankey's ability to get schools to vote against their best interests a lot of times
Starting point is 00:48:41 to get what he wants. Like with this, the nine-game schedule and some other things. So Sankey always gets what he wants. But he may have gone too far this time because apparently the LSU people, they vote for the rule, and then they go back to Skip Burtman's funeral. in Baton Rouge, and Landry gets all over about what they did. The next day they're abstaining on the enforcement. Oh, is that right?
Starting point is 00:49:06 I didn't realize that. So the governor yelled at him. Okay, I didn't realize that. And they're saying Landry may get, he's real upset about it. He thinks these guys ought to be eligible, these NFL guys, and he may get the Attorney General of Louisiana involved in it. Again, none of this was necessary. I appreciate the call.
Starting point is 00:49:26 Drew, none of this was necessary. They could have just said these guys, can play for one year, the rules change next year. Like, I don't understand why they're doing all this, the NCAA. It was not necessary. This would have been a handful of players. They would have come ahead and played, and that would have been that, and yet they just keep doubling down on it.
Starting point is 00:49:44 That's what's weird for me. This isn't like changing the future of college sports. It's one year. It's very unique. It's a handful of people that even affects, and with the transfer in the conference, it might only affect one person while the fight, even if you really believe your argument. it's right. This season starts soon. Just get over this hump. We'll all forget about it,
Starting point is 00:50:04 and then you can work on the new rules moving forward. Yeah, and part of it is, too, like, I said this on ESPN yesterday. For people who think there's some kind of principled stand here, especially about like how you can't have entered the draft, in baseball, Ryan, you're allowed to enter the draft and come back. Right. So why is it we have a rule where players can enter the draft, to come back in baseball, but in basketball and football, it's somehow morally wrong? Like why? No idea.
Starting point is 00:50:33 No idea. There's no reason. There's no reason whatsoever. These rules the NCAA has had for generations make no sense. There's no logic to them. And I'm glad to some extent the courts have kind of called them on it because they are completely illogical and have been for a long time. Who's next?
Starting point is 00:50:52 Will. Will. Will, go ahead, Will. Matt, in the legal pecking order, which should Kentucky fans be more concerned about the state starting to overturn some of the injunctions or the SEC inter-conference rule? SEC. I think it's very unlikely. I mean, it's impossible, but I would be surprised if a Kentucky state appellate court overrules it. I am worried about the conference thing is a bigger deal because they're trying to punish the teams, not the player.
Starting point is 00:51:24 which makes it and adds another thing. So I think the Sanky thing, at least to me right now, is a bigger thing. Kentucky has some incredible young leaders, and now you can help choose this year's winner for best young leader. Go to Kentucky Chambers Young Professional of the Year. Nominate someone, and the winner will be announced at the Kentucky Chamber Young Professional Summit on September 21st. You can learn more about the finalist at KYchamber.com slash YPA award.

Starting point is 00:52:07 We open the season with Youngstown State. Are they going to be coming off a win? Yes, they are a top 10 FCS team. Watch them to score a lot of points tonight. Big offense. Are you going to turn it on?
Starting point is 00:52:18 Absolutely. Are you going to turn it on? See the team we're going to play here next week? Yes, plus tonight. Let's go. Ryan, Drew, tomorrow, Shannon. We will be at a firm roofing on Price Avenue. We'll see you then. It's Kentucky Sports Radio. Hey, this is Hayes Davenport. And Sean Clements. We host the podcast, Hollywood Handbook.
