Are you ready to get some probes put in your flesh? That's right.
Starting point is 00:01:14 Tune in. Resistance is futile. We're going to talk science, the culture of the Borg, various interpretations, and we're going to talk about Star Trek First Contact on Weird House Cinema on Friday. Listen to Stuff to Blow Your Mind on the iHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. On Big Lives, we take a single cultural icon. Listen to Big Lives on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey, it's Ryan Lemon from Kentucky Sports Radio. I'm not just a radio guy. I'm also a realtor.
Starting point is 00:02:03 I talk to homeowners all the time. And what's the one thing many homeowners have but rarely think about? It's equity. It's something that can quietly grow over time while you're busy living your life. And for many homeowners, it can be an opportunity they haven't explored. Whether you're planning home improvements or preparing for whatever it comes next, your home's equity may be able to help you. It's important to understand what's available and to find out the right option that fits your goals.
Starting point is 00:02:24 For me, I wanted to put a pool in my backyard. and finish my basement. I didn't have the money available, so I went to Stockton Mortgage. They found the equity that already built up in my house was able to use to install my pool and finish the basement. I would have been able to do it without them.
Starting point is 00:02:37 At Stockton Mortgage, they'll walk you through the possibilities. Answer your questions and help you understand your next step. If it's been a while since you've looked into your home's value, now might be a great time to start the conversation. Visit stockton.com to learn more. This is Kentucky Sports Radio, presented by Stockton Mortgage and the Kentucky Office of Highway Safety Safe Summer Driving Tour. Now, here's Matt Jones. Welcome back. I remember two, Kentucky Sports Radio, 859-280, 2287. Ask Anything Wednesday. Text machine is 772-774-5-25-4.
Starting point is 00:03:22 Let's go over a couple things before we go back to the phones. What do you think about the Arch Manning comment? Not a guy probably needs a little media training. His uncles wouldn't have done that. Dumb college kid move. It's almost worst look of the room laughing with him of the adults than the dumb college kid. I actually think the reporters look much worse in that than even for him. So people who don't know, somebody asked me if he had seen any of the online discourse about his coach, Steve Sarkeesian, kind of blowing all.
Starting point is 00:03:55 off Holly Row and he said, yeah, I did see an AI video and everybody starts laughing. He was like, yeah, it was an A. And I think he's encouraged by the laughter. He's like, yeah, it was an AI video of him smacking Holly Row. And then I went and watched the video and, hmm. It's pretty aggressive AI video. I think he, sorry, even says, like, it was awesome. Yeah, he said it was awesome.
Starting point is 00:04:19 I mean, look, it's not the end of the world. I don't think you should, you know, I don't think you should go crazy about the kid. But like, it's not funny to laugh at a man smacking a woman. Can't do it. It's just not. And that room full of reporters laugh. Even the guy that tweeted it was like gold. Like, they got to be, you got to be better than that.
Starting point is 00:04:43 I'm all for like people get into and are too sensitive and like they're joking. But it's, you don't. I know AI is not real. But at the same time, like, there's nothing funny about that. Go watch that video and tell me that that's funny. It's not. And since he was the one that brought it,
Starting point is 00:05:03 he could have not mentioned it. I'm sure it's not the end of the world, but I bet Uncle Peyton or someone. He looked at the SID and you can see that the SID is giving him a look like because then he turns back around and the smile goes off. His expression changes quickly. But it's also embarrassing for that room full of reporters to be laughing about it. Because there's probably some female reporters in that room.
Starting point is 00:05:23 That's what I thought. Some, you know. Yeah. I mean, and Holly Roe, you can argue whether or not she should have rolled her eyes. There's probably some backstory with all of that. But people online, like, people are like, acting like, it's her fault. You know, he blew her off. You can say that's good.
Starting point is 00:05:46 You can say it's not, but, like, it's not her fault. No. And at the end of the day, I mean, should he have done the interview? Yes. but as he runs off, okay, she missed an interview, he should have done it, wrong on his part. The world will keep turning. We're all going to be okay. Holly's going to be okay.
Starting point is 00:06:03 The Arch has got to be smarter than that. Like Peyton and Eli would not have done that. Well, I bet Uncle Peyton gave him a call, having been on the podium a thousand times, like, hey, remember. Remember, you know. We're mannings. And we just bragged on Arch yesterday about how he handled his post-game interview. Yeah, we're manning's. He went a little too far into the laughing at it that just made it.
Starting point is 00:06:26 Well, just don't bring it up. You don't have to bring up the video of a guy smacking a woman. Just let that one go. The SID is probably over there like trying to get his attention. Stop, stop, stop, stop. Yeah. So I thought that was not. Not his finest that one.
Starting point is 00:06:40 No, it's not. Mitch McConnell's back. He's back. He's alive. So I'm glad he's alive. It's embarrassing. It's embarrassing. Let me roll him out there.
Starting point is 00:06:56 They don't let the reporters take video. I don't know if people realize that part of it. No. They came and he came out to the press thing, but they told everyone no video only pictures. And they let the reporters ask him questions. And apparently he spoke, but they wouldn't let there be video.
Starting point is 00:07:17 Shannon, come on now. Well, we have proof of life. We do have proof of life. But isn't that shameful that they won't let him take video? That means we don't want anybody to see what he sounds like. Yeah. Well, I mean, I heard the audio, but I didn't see the video. There is audio out there if I'm speaking.
Starting point is 00:07:36 Oh, there is audio? Yeah, I heard it this morning. What does he sound like? Does he sound normal? He sounds pretty normal, yeah. Which makes me wonder why they don't want the video. I mean, if he sounds fine, what are you trying to hide? So it was his voice?
Starting point is 00:07:49 It was, yeah. Okay, I didn't hear that. Yeah, yeah. it's out there. I just saw the clip of him smiling, staring forward. But why did these, like, same thing with Joe Biden, like, why do these people feel like someone else can do it? These people are running our country.
Starting point is 00:08:06 Like someone else can do it. It doesn't have to be you. You know what I mean? Somebody else can do it. You're not the only person that can be a senator. Right? Yeah. Too prideful to step down.
Starting point is 00:08:19 You know, he's done after this year, right? It is. So why not just be done now? There's still business to be done now. He's still got things to do, apparently. He's got a vote. What does he have to do? Vote. He was there the vote yesterday. We'll get somebody else to vote. But he's the senator. Are you taking up for this, Shannon? You are always Mr. Old folks should not be doing this. You think you're Mr. Term Limit. Like, what are you doing? I'm not really taken up for him, but you said, what is he doing? He's voting.
Starting point is 00:08:50 I mean, that's what he was literally there to do. too. I'm not saying I agree with what he stands for necessarily. No, no, no, I'm not saying that either. It's not about what he stands for. But I mean, the question is just, should you have someone in that condition in office?
Starting point is 00:09:07 I don't know. It's tough. Probably not. But, I mean, what are you going to do? Just impeach him because he's in a wheelchair? Well, no. At some point, you have to be fit to make our best decisions. He should resign and then they should have replaced him, right?
Starting point is 00:09:21 Can they just kick him out? though if he doesn't want to well i mean there's a process but that's they're not going to do that yeah yeah he's back back again shady's back tell a love friend look who's back is who's back that would be a funny video if someone did that video with miss mcconnell i mean i in some ways i feel i feel bad. Like, he should get to spend his last years not having people have this conversation about him. See, that's, I know we don't see the same side politically with him, but it's sad. To me, I see them and I see those pictures and it makes me sad. Well, that's going to be how everyone remembers him. Yeah. You know? Yep. But all of these people, they stay too long. I mean,
Starting point is 00:10:10 there was that woman from California, Diane Feinstein, who by the end apparently, like, didn't recognize her staff, but was still in office, making decisions and voting? Yeah. Well, someone was making decisions. That's not how it should be. These people aren't going to work at like their local mom and shop business. These people are running the country. They're not working at Dunkin' Donuts.
Starting point is 00:10:32 Like, this is an important thing. Yeah. In some way, our livelihood is in their hands in some ways. Yes. And there are decisions that are going to be made in the next two to five, maybe in the next few months about AI that'll probably decide the future of humanity. And you wonder how many of these people even know what is happening. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:10:53 Anything Mitch McConnell actually understands? I don't understand AI. You're telling me he does? Come on. He's going to vote on it. But such is life. He waved. He did wave.
Starting point is 00:11:07 That was nice. I'm glad he waved. Clay, go ahead, Clay. Hey, Matt. Guys, long time. here, enjoy the show. Thank you. The last three conversations that you've had on the radio this morning are about situations where there were TV cameras around. Some aren't allowed to be recording. The thing of it is you put people around TV cameras and they do some odd things. Did any of you see
Starting point is 00:11:32 the Coach Stein's mother and aunt present the cakes to the guys on SEC Nation on Saturday morning? Yeah, why did Tebow just throw them at people? Yes, and let me tell you what, let me tell you a little bit of backstory on this. I went and bought a sissy cake and picked it up on Friday. I ordered it in advance. Yeah. The coach's mom and aunt were in there. Such nice ladies.
Starting point is 00:11:58 The best. This cake's going to Commonwealth Stadium. They said, we'll be there. Now watch SEC Nation at 930 about because we're going to get on there and present cakes. Yeah. And then she had to look on her face after Tebow grabbed that. that handful of cake, and then threw it on the students. The cake was hitting the kids.
Starting point is 00:12:16 There was cake on the floor of the set. I mean, it was so disrespectful on Tebow's part. Maybe I'm wrong. Is that the take that you all have? I thought it was, Tebow seems like a good guy. I appreciate the call. I don't know that he meant anything. I just thought it was weird.
Starting point is 00:12:31 They bring them this cake and they say, here, we've made this cake for you all. And he just takes a handful of it and just starts throwing it at the students. the caller's right her face is like yeah she was like I wanted you to eat this team try this cake and brag on it I mean just imagine like people bring us food sometimes like someone will make us cookies yes and if someone was like here I would like you to have these cookies and I just wotted them up and threw them at Mario it would be a little disrespectful don't you think also will was there to take a bite so he then goes and takes a bite of it after Tebow is just taking his big claw and dug it all up into
Starting point is 00:13:14 pieces. So they're all eating after Tebow just destroyed it. I think if Tebow had eaten it and said this is good, that would be nice. He's trying to be McAfee. He sees McAfee. He's like, I got to amp this up a little bit. Yeah. Yeah. I don't know. I did think that was really strange. I didn't see it live, but I saw. It seems out of character for him. It does. It does because he seems like the nicest guy in the world. And it just seems like launching the cake. I think he probably thought that was cute. But, you know, they're like, here, have a cake. It just takes it and wads it up. He's having flashbacks to when game day was there. Did he want the students to catch it with their mouth and eat it? Well, they're not seals. And he also launched it. It wasn't like a here would you like a taste. I mean, it was a 96 mile an hour heater right at their faces. J.T. Go ahead, J.T.
Starting point is 00:14:04 I had a thing about the football game. I think that if it would have been a a night game, it would have been a whole different situation. Because I've been to the Georgia game, the Texas game, over the past couple years, and they were both, like, insane environments and they were able to keep it a lot closer. Maybe, but I do think it was... While I agree with you that in general
Starting point is 00:14:27 night games are louder than day games, I don't know, Drew. I mean, maybe it could have gotten louder, but it was pretty damn loud. Yeah, I don't know if you could ask for much more than what the crowd did. It's natural when you have the back-breaking plays that gave Alabama back-to-back short fills to just kind of suck the
Starting point is 00:14:45 life out of the stadium and that's what happened. If the sun had been down and been nighttime, I think the same thing probably would have played out. But you couldn't ask for much more for how they showed up or in that first half. Yeah. So, I mean, I agree with you. In general, night is better. I'm not sure that it would have made a big difference in this game. The good thing about night, though, that does help to the atmosphere is they get those lights going. There's some stuff that they just can't do in the daylight. That adds to the experience. Well, I mean, I think after the South Alabama game, aren't like our next five games at night? At night.
Starting point is 00:15:15 Did they ever do the red laser light show? I didn't see that. I didn't see it on TV. I tell you what I did see Shannon is on SEC Nation about the time we're talking about. As Will Stein walks up, someone behind him holds up a sign that says Margarita Mario puking. I saw that. It ended up on SEC Nation. That was a high-quality sign, too.
Starting point is 00:15:36 If we could get that from whoever that is, maybe they're listening right now. we could because they brought it to walk-ons. Oh, they did. And Mario stole it. Oh, he caught scared it so that it would no longer be in public. Come on, Mario. We need to hang it up in the studio. Billy's got it, didn't he?
Starting point is 00:15:54 He's going to try to get it. He's going to try to get it. I'll go get it. I think it's at the restaurant right now. I'll go get it right now. Well, I thought it was interesting that it ended up on. Yeah. And even in the catwalk.
Starting point is 00:16:06 What was the sign the guy had about? Kaelin DeBoer, it said something like Kaelin DeBore fills his flask with what was it, I can't remember exactly what it said. It was leaning into the flask content before the game. Yeah. I'll get the Mario sign if it's there. One person writes, Matt,
Starting point is 00:16:23 what is your all's scale of optimism about the offense after the game 1 to 10? Hmm. I will say a 7. I was going to go 6. Like I said yesterday, I'm really worried about that wide receiver room. I think 6 to 7 is a good call. I'm kind of, that's kind of where I am too.
Starting point is 00:16:43 Because I am a little worried about it, I will admit. Because I, I thought it just kind of fell apart in that second half. And it wasn't great in the first half, but it really kind of fell apart. When you're 1 of 14 on third down, something's not right. Yeah. Let's see. What do we want to do? When I was 14 years old, I was kidnapped and held captive for nine months. I survived, and I've spent my life exploring how other people survive what should have destroyed them. I'm Elizabeth Smart, and these are the Survivor Files. I just remember this low, taunting voice next to my ear saying, shut up, don't say anything. Every week, I'm with survivors who live through the unthinkable.
Starting point is 00:18:25 I knew if he woke up, without a doubt, he was going to hurt me. I started feeling that there was someone at the end of my bed, and I just started screaming. They are abducted, stalked, controlled, and nearly silenced. But these aren't stories about what's taken from them. There's stories about what it takes to make it out alive. Listen to the Survivor Files with Elizabeth Smart on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. If your bookshelf and your for-you page are equally important to your personality,
Starting point is 00:19:01 welcome home. This is Prose Society, the weekly podcast that's part bookbookbooking. Club, part group chat for thought daughters, pop culture obsessives, and anyone who thinks pride and prejudice and love island deserve the same level of discourse. I'm Eli Rallo and every week we're connecting the dots between books, the internet, and the conversations everyone can't stop having. I'm going to have to look up this story. I'm obsessed. I'm obsessed. From bestselling authors and your favorite book talk creators to the latest pop culture moments, nothing is off the table. It's like if you can hide some real messages inside compelling.
Starting point is 00:19:37 characters and that is a Trojan horse. Whether you're looking for literary deep dives, smart pop culture conversations, or a community of readers who love to think a little too much, you're in the right place. Listen to Pro Society on the IHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. See you between the pages. Hi, this is Kylie Breakman. Angel Geratana.
Starting point is 00:20:00 Jeremy Colhane. Patrick McDonald. And we're the hosts of the Artists on Artists on Artists on Artists Podcast. The Improvised Character Comedy Podcast. where each week a new panel of artists discuss their craft. Join us for a panel of wellness influencers. What I try to do is faux journal. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:20:17 Have you guys heard of faux journaling? Yeah, it's reading. It's called reading. So we don't like to use that word anymore. Okay. A panel of New Yorker cartoonists. Have you guys done Terry Gross's Peloton class? No!
Starting point is 00:20:29 I've been dying too. I'm so sorry. I'm seeing a reading of Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes by Audra McDonald's at the Wonderland Bookstore on 14. That's crazy. I went to the Wonderland Bookstore yesterday, and I heard Nora Jones do a reading of Zero Dark 30. No way.
Starting point is 00:20:45 You have to come to the last bookstore, though. Kim Cottrell is reading the guitar tabs of yesterday. A panel of Eurovision participants. And we do a little Halloween sometimes. Does the Pope dress up? He winks on Halloween. He gets right up next to the microphone. I hear you can almost hear the eyelashes hit each other.
Starting point is 00:21:04 You never seen Italy so quiet. it as when the Pope gets up to wink on Halloween. Listen to artists on artists on artists on artists on artists on the IHeard Radio app, Apple podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts. Welcome back. It is Kentucky Sports Radio. 859-280-2287. Text machine is 772-774-5524.
Starting point is 00:21:28 It is the amount of people who can't hear a conversation without going, but what about? talking about the Mitch McConnell conversation. Yeah, I mean, but a little about Joe Biden. First of all, I mentioned him. But secondly, like, the standard, I could do the exact same thing to you. I mean, you people understandably thought that Joe Biden shouldn't run. Okay, well, what about him? I mean, we could do that forever.
Starting point is 00:21:53 And then you could do that forever and then you never accomplish anything. I'm just saying, like, just in general, people think that they, like, they're the only ones that can do the job. If it were up to me, I would have term limits. Nobody could serve more than like two terms. Right? Like if Andy Bershure were to run for governor again next year, he'd probably win. But I don't think he should. He shouldn't beat governor for life.
Starting point is 00:22:17 He's some new blood in there sometimes. I mean, the last person we had who stayed in office forever was Jerry Abramsman, Louisville, and he's the one that did the U of L deal that is still bankrupting the city. Like, you stay in office long enough, you're going to be corrupt. Yeah, and we should also agree that people should be pretty coherent in making decisions that affect all of us? I mean, I think that should be a basic requirement. How are we doing Big Blue Madness tickets this year?
Starting point is 00:22:42 Feels like the system changes a lot. Let me get these details exactly right. These are online, right? Yes. And you don't have to pay for them, but you do have to pay the ticket master fee. There's usually a household limit. I want to make sure I say the right thing.
Starting point is 00:22:59 Do we like that they do it this way? Because I feel like it encourages people not to come. I know I was going to sound like an old school, man. I loved it when they gave him away at Memorial Coliseum, and then students would go and sit in there for hours and had like the lottery. I just feel like if you're not paying any money, Shannon, you don't have an incentive to come. Because you're like, why I didn't pay for it? Right.
Starting point is 00:23:23 So it's easy to skip. Exactly. Yeah. If you have no money in the game, what's it matter? Like you claim them with the intentions to go. And when the day gets there, you're just like, well, whatever. They get burned through. And then the seats, you end up with empty seats everywhere.
Starting point is 00:23:38 Also think, I mean, this is just me. I think it should be a memorial now. I do too. We're not coming. I mean, let's be, if we all, we all need to be honest. We're not coming close to filling up for this anymore. At the last couple of years. Last couple of years, last, the first Pope one had a pretty good crowd, but probably post-COVID,
Starting point is 00:23:58 except for the first Pope one, the crowds have not been. They're still amazing, but they're not. they've been historically. Yeah, if you're not a Kentucky person, you tuned in, you'd be like, wow, but compared to what we've had in the past, it's on a decline. But if it was in Memorial, it would feel like it was rocking. And we made everybody line up, you would have one of the great atmospheres of the year. No doubt.
Starting point is 00:24:22 We've had a great atmosphere just for the TBT tournament in Memorial. Can you imagine now we're going to have madness there? Memorial would be great. They have that VIP area where you could host and have that part, but also do the line where it's general admission. Make it the line. First of all, more students would come just because it was right there.
Starting point is 00:24:37 Oh, yeah. Yeah. The players are coming right out of their practice facility right there. You could do. I mean, to me, that needs to be a change that they institute next year. Bigger is not always better.
Starting point is 00:24:48 And you're not even really making money on Big Blue Madness because the tickets are free. That's true. Down to two per household. I feel like it was four maybe in the past. Two per household. Are you supposed to leave your kids at home? That's what I wondered. That's what I was looking to be sure.
Starting point is 00:25:02 Is that right? Only two for a household? There will be a limit of two tickets per household. Duplicate orders will be canceled. So just throw your kids in the ocean. Friday, 5 o'clock. They should do three. If you had two kids, you've got to take your favorite kid and leave one by the time. That's really, like, do they not want people to bring children? Did Billy start this? Is this like, is Billy organizing this? First of all, far be it for me to be the advocate for me to be the advocate for? for children, but are you, are they two per household? I think what you do is you get all your kids in a room. Do they mean two per household like two orders so that could be four?
Starting point is 00:25:44 I mean, I'm reading this off of UK Athletics.com. Two tickets per household or two orders? There will be a limit of two tickets per household. So, all line orders are free, but we'll be. Just keep your kids away, people. I think you just lock them in a room and throw one ticket in there and never comes out with the ticket. Can it? I mean, the whole whole thing. point of having Big Blue Madness to some extent is for children. It's a fan event. You want your fans to be there. Children of any age need a ticket. Kids are going to be working. So there you go. Friday at 5, get in there. Kids of any age. They don't mean that, though. Do babies have to have tickets? I don't know about that. I don't think babies do. Well, it says children of any age.
Starting point is 00:26:26 They're going to have their own seat. Then, yeah, you would have to probably have a ticket. Two seems low. I got a ass. That can't be right. Time to correct that. That can't be right. I'm going to, I got to ask somebody about that. All right. Let's go to Joe. Go ahead, Joe.
Starting point is 00:26:46 Thanks a lot, gentlemen. Quickly, a comment on the reporter down in Birmingham, you know, we haven't won the national championship. The SEC has it in three years. That would be my response to that young man down there. I mean, let's get real. I'm an SEC fan. I mean, I know we're not very good in football.
Starting point is 00:27:05 I'm still an SEC fan. Go on, Matt. No, what were you asking? I don't know the comment. You said the comment. What comment are you talking about? He made a comment about her street. He needs to apologize.
Starting point is 00:27:16 Okay, got you talking about. That's why I meant. Okay, I should have been more clearer than that. And then my question to you all come against Texas A&M, Matt, yes, we have a death problem. I think everybody knew that going into the year. And what do you do at A&M? Do you play some of your backups and pray that you keep some of your stars fresh for the second half? or what you've got you got you got south Alabama next week so I think you still play your whole team
Starting point is 00:27:43 this week plus you need to have a good performance after what happened with Alabama you need to go out you need to play well you need to showcase that you know the team is competitive you can play the backups backups against south Alabama hopefully but uh you know we got a lot of guys who didn't play much in the first game. And so, no, I think you play, you play your team. I think it's also a bad message for a new coach just to say
Starting point is 00:28:09 like we can't beat this team. So I know what you're saying, Joe, but I think in this case you play them. One more quick comment, Matt, the play that upset me the most in this game is when we jumped offside at the start of the second quarter.
Starting point is 00:28:25 We had a third and 12 for Alabama. And I think the I think the boy already had his mind who he was going to throw it to. Of course, we jumped offside and gave him basically a free play. But if we don't jump offside, I thought this game, man, if we could ever got up by 14 points, we had a great chance to really make the quarterback uncomfortable. But that was a scenario. We could have got the ball back.
Starting point is 00:28:45 I totally agree with you. You're exactly right. That first drive, I appreciate the call. If you could have stopped them, Ryan, on that first drive and gotten a ball and then done something with it, then it's a different game. And we had two different chances, both with it. not accepting that penalty and the penalty he just talked about, where we could have gotten them off the field, and we didn't.
Starting point is 00:29:07 And then when they scored, it was on. You know? Yep. So we'll take a break. Be right back. KSR. T.J. Smith, personal injury attorney. Call T.J.
Starting point is 00:29:17 He'll make them pay. Now, more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. Here's Matt Jones. Welcome back. Conway and Loretta. Yeah. they would have some ugly kids. It's great to see the world kind of finally getting where I did on Conway Twitty.
Starting point is 00:29:37 Like I start to see people will play his songs and be like, I can't believe they let this happen. It's really just stop and listen. I mean, you've got to listen to the words. The ladies in the 70s loved Conway Twitty. And that's fine. But I don't think they were paying attention either. Probably not.
Starting point is 00:29:55 Yeah, but you look at him. He's not that much to look at. It was a completely different time. You don't think Conway was hot? No. Okay. Well, everybody's got their own. Which country singers did you think was hot?
Starting point is 00:30:09 Back in the 70s? Yeah. Whalen? Kenny Rogers. You thought he was hot? You got a crush on. You're really into Kenny Rogers? Yeah, Dolly Parton.
Starting point is 00:30:16 What made Kenny Rogers hot? Great hair. I mean, he had awesome hair. You've thought about this clearly. No, I'm not. So when they sang together, that was probably big for you. Oh. Kept me up at night.
Starting point is 00:30:26 islands in the stream. That's right. That is what we are. Ryan would lay in bed and have his own islands in the stream. We talked about the golf scramble. We did mention John Pelfry played yesterday. Okay, so hang on just a second. John Pelfry played in that golf scramble.
Starting point is 00:30:46 He walked by at one point. Yes. One of you said that looks like John Pelfrey. Ryan turned to me. Ryan, you said to us, man, that guy really looks like John Pelfrey. Did you not think there was any chance it was John Pelfry? I didn't think he would be. I thought he's probably coaching somewhere.
Starting point is 00:31:02 So when he made the turn and I got to talk to him, his son works at a bank in Somerset. But I assume it was not John Pelfry. It was. Because you said it looked like John Pelfry, but the implication was it wasn't John Pelfry. It sure was. He was out there playing in our golf scramble yesterday.
Starting point is 00:31:19 Does that it look like if it was John Pelfry? Because it was John Pelfry. Why didn't you say something? Like, we could have had him on or something. Well, it wasn't for sure when he walked by there during the show. Did he not know who we are either? Because he didn't say anything to us either. He didn't say hello.
Starting point is 00:31:34 Yeah. When I introduced myself, hey, I'm Ryan Lim with KSR, he didn't like acknowledge. Like, oh, yeah, you know. Wait, man, you introduced yourself to him? Uh-huh. And he didn't say, don't you know him? He was, you know, probably, you know, he'd moved on by the time I got here. So you did say, I'm Ryan Lemon of KSR.
Starting point is 00:31:53 Uh-huh. And he, what did he say back to you? Like, okay, thanks. you know, hey, nothing in knowledge. And he didn't say my name's John? Well, I told him. I said, I'm Ryan. I'm John Pelfran.
Starting point is 00:32:03 I'm like, yeah, I know who you are. But clearly you didn't. Not when he walked by during the radio show. More than you guys did. Trying to knock me down. You guys didn't know who he was. I like that you said, well, I know who you are. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:32:19 I know who you are. I know who you look like. I know who you look like. He did walk. He was like three feet from us when he walked. The only way I knew that for sure that John Pelfrey was there was when Mario posted UK legend John Pelfry was there. Because I told him. He didn't even know who John Pelfry was.
Starting point is 00:32:35 Oh, that's right, man. Mario was some of our UK grades. We're still teaching him. So Pelfry bought a house in Nicholasville and he's not coaching this year. So he lives in Nicholasville? We got an open seat on the staff. Are we ever going to get a coach? I guess I'm taking crazy.
Starting point is 00:32:51 I'm the only one that ever brings it up anymore. People are like, yeah, whatever. I guess you don't need a coach. So no gym. Too many cooks in the kitchen. No coach. Yeah, when I watch practice, there are 43 people out on the floor. That's true.
Starting point is 00:33:03 Remember Ryan's original scoop back in June is still. Still hanging out there. What's the scoop again? He was going to just move Robinson into that spot. Coach Robinson. So are they going to announce it? I don't know. What do you should have asked John Pelfrey?
Starting point is 00:33:20 Media Madness is Thursday. Heck yeah. Mario's ready to rock. So who all's playing? Are you playing, you're playing, Mario, right? Are you playing Shannon? I'm a bit louder than life. Okay.
Starting point is 00:33:31 Are you playing? I'm not playing. I'm going, but I'm not playing. I've already signed my waiver and did my survey. There's a survey you got to fill out. Okay, I'm not playing because I got to do Bat and Myron and it's during it. Can you do it from media madness? Well, I thought I could.
Starting point is 00:33:45 They invited me, but now they're saying that no media can film anything, which I don't, I have to tell you, I don't really understand why we're doing this if the media can't film it. Media can't film media? The media, they said yesterday the media is not allowed to film media madden. And then why are we doing that? We are really are media. That's what we do. That's what I was confused.
Starting point is 00:34:07 I was talking to someone this morning, they're like, you're going to go out and buy basketball shoes? I don't even know what the point of this is. So no, I'm not going to go by then. Well, if no one can see it, why are we doing it? Well, Mario hit the nail on the head. It's probably their media people are going to do some sort of piece on it. Well, okay. So the neighbor can buy my basketball shoes.
Starting point is 00:34:24 So Billy has no bat. Billy wanted to wear his hokas. And I was like, you cannot wear hokas. I'm wearing my monarchs. You're not wearing that, are you? I don't have basketball shoes, and I'm not going to buy any. So you're going to wear air monarchs? I guess.
Starting point is 00:34:39 And Billy's going to wear hokas. And this is what we're going on the court with. I got the cons dinnums, but they kind of hurt. They're uncomfortable. Yeah, you wouldn't want to play basketball. What's Ryan wearing crocs? What are you guys doing? Are you going?
Starting point is 00:34:49 I'm going to go and just yell at the other players, like be a coach. I thought I thought I was going to get to do Matt Meyer. there and I was going to like give it national pub but I don't think I'm allowed to do it. They seem like they would want you to do your radio show there. I don't understand why they don't want people to film this. I mean, I would think that would be the thing that would be like the great thing out of this. Especially all the TV guys from Lexington and Louisville. They're going to want to show it on the sports tonight. Like, who wouldn't pay to watch Billy play basketball with Keith Taylor? Exactly. And we do our, that live stream. Is that in color playing? Someone told
Starting point is 00:35:19 me he said he was going to play. He's not playing. He and I were going to sit together and yell at everybody. I don't know that was an option. Yeah, I really wanted to see Mario back down. Mark's story. I've heard that other outlets have matching uniforms and we don't because they're like, did KSR get uniforms? People have gotten uniforms?
Starting point is 00:35:35 And this goes back to the, if we're not filming it, what are we doing and why do we need uniforms if no one's going to see it? Yeah, because our group chat this morning is like, apparently we're the ones that don't have our own team uniform. Should be like when I was in my youth basketball and we were the Lakers, but they wouldn't pay for the jersey so we just each had different yellow t-shirts. So Billy's going to have Hocus. I'm going to have on Monarchs and we're not going to match and everyone else is going to come out. Mario's going to be so embarrassed at our team.
Starting point is 00:36:02 Well, I can't go and I really want to go. Yeah, they should want you to go. I thought I was going to get to do the show from watching it and now I can't, so I can't go. I heard 75 media members are going to be there. And how's that going to work? in an hour, an hour on the court and one in like an hour. 32 on 33. Sounds like a big layup line. Well, I think it's cool they're doing it, but I wish they would let people film it. Now, apparently they're only allowing two tickets to be to big blue man.
Starting point is 00:36:33 That is hard for me. I had one other, what are we doing? There's a fan fest, but it's the next day. So if you go to madness, you have to go home and come back to go to fan fest. Okay. Well, I don't know. I like the idea of, I love that, hey, can you not take your kids? I can't believe I'm the person out here advocating for children, but like, what family is going to want to go and not take their child?
Starting point is 00:37:07 Or take one child. Or pick a child. Like my friend hubby. He's going to be like, all right, Katie Clay, Max, we love you more than you. Paper Rock scissors. When he gets to go to badness. Or if you have two kids, you just drop them off and pick them up. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:37:22 So this is a room full of kids. All the parents are waiting outside. It's like the movie theater. They got to get creative and have like grandma sign up for a couple tickets. But I just got confirmed. That's the way they're doing it. Wow. Per household.
Starting point is 00:37:34 I don't know if that's a good idea. Do you look at orders will be deleted. Apparently, according to the stage layout, given the stage layout, there's less availability. How big is this stage? I don't know. I mean, they already do a big stage and there's plenty of room. What's going on? We've got two stages?
Starting point is 00:37:52 I don't know. Interesting. We're going to figure out soon. We're going to find out. Let's go to Wayne. Go ahead, Wayne. Hey, you all remember back in when old nature, our representative was in a hospital bed giving votes in the House of Representatives. I think it was around 97.
Starting point is 00:38:16 You're allowed to do that? You're allowed to give votes from the hospital, bed? They rode him into the House of Representatives in a hospital bed. You all don't remember that? William H. Nature. Mario, do you remember that? 97? I don't know.
Starting point is 00:38:35 You remember Mario wasn't born yet. So, no, we don't remember it. But hang, but what I'm just saying is that's just a mark on Kentucky's, you know, representatives and senators and everything. I'm like, yes. Here we got old Mitch McConnell. All right. Well, I don't want to just time.
Starting point is 00:38:54 I mean, I understand. Yeah, I appreciate the call. I don't like, listen, I don't like it. But it's not just about him. It's just in general. It's like, I don't like the idea of having an age limit because I don't think you should discriminate against older people. But I also think there needs to be like an understanding of, okay. You know, like, why can't it be like baseball, like sports?
Starting point is 00:39:16 There comes a point where. people go, you know what, I can't do it anymore. It's time I hang it up. But politicians don't think like that. Hang on, hang on, hang on. Hang on. They don't think there's ever a moment they can't do it anymore. This is my time. Well, the real answers are all getting too rich to leave. Yeah. Dennis and Richmond. Go ahead, Dennis. Hey, hey, you know, a couple things are first, Tim Tebow.
Starting point is 00:39:39 One of my, one of my top three all-time favorite college players, if not my all-time favorite cosplayer. But I tell you what, I was so, of all the people that were done, when he took a handful of cake to it out, and onto the students, I was like, man,
Starting point is 00:39:55 that's so disrespectful. I can't believe he did that. Yeah, I agree. He must not. I'm going to give him a benefit of the doubt, Dennis. Like,
Starting point is 00:40:04 I don't think he probably thought, because I agree with you, he doesn't seem like a guy who would do so. But I think these guys, I think Drew kind of hit it. There's like this sense now where all these guys are like,
Starting point is 00:40:15 really, let's do something crazy. And I think that, Yeah, we, baby, bra! And then, like, the next thing you know, they're throwing cake on people. Right. I think you're right. That's what he was thinking. But I couldn't believe he did that.
Starting point is 00:40:29 As far, I think this weekend, their offense is going, in my opinion, to keep optimism going to, their offense is going to have to move to football. Yeah, I agree. I agree. I think that's the key. The key is, I appreciate the call. We got to move the football. I mean, with Will Stein coming, the one thing you think is going to happen is we're going to move the football.
Starting point is 00:40:52 That was the – he came there. That was his M.O. You know, our offense is going to be not only impressive, it's going to be innovative. So we need to show our ability to do that. Plus, our defensive coordinators came from Texas. Union game. Yeah. Football season's here.

Starting point is 00:44:45 Okay. A panel of New Yorker. cartoonists. Have you guys done Terry Gross's Peloton class? No! I've been dying too. I'm so sorry. I'm seeing a reading of Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes by Audra McDonald's at the Wonderland Bookstore 14th. That's crazy. I went to the Wonderland Bookstore yesterday and I heard Nora Jones do a reading of Zero Dark 30. No way. You have to come to the last bookstore though. Kim Cottrell is reading the guitar tabs of yesterday. A panel of Eurovision participants. And we do it. little Halloween sometimes.
Starting point is 00:45:18 Does the Pope dress up? He winks on Halloween. He gets right up next to the microphone. I hear you can almost hear the eyelashes hit each other. Listen to artists on artists on artists on artists on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Welcome back, Tucky Sports Radio.
Starting point is 00:45:41 I can't keep putting this off. I mean, he has set for a while. I was wondering if you were going to just leave him on there. James Town. Go ahead, Bob. What's it going to take for people to wake up and push back against this? I don't call it artificial intelligence. It's artificial information. I mean, it's going to make Hitler and Nazis seem like a K-Quah.
Starting point is 00:46:02 What's it going to take for people to wake up? And there's a long fly ball to left field. See, that's what the Red would sound like. Yeah. Yeah. You think I can do a baseball game with this? I can't have you waited 50 minutes to hear that. I can't, Shannon, I can't be calling.
Starting point is 00:46:22 I would tune in to your Oz broadcast to hear it. Would you tune into 162 of them? Yes, absolutely I would. Yeah, I don't think so. Bob, I hope you're doing well. Hey, hey, Matt, Joseph Beth is just sold out to Barnes & Noble. I saw that. I don't love that, but I appreciate to call.
Starting point is 00:46:43 I'm actually on my list of topics. And that's the end of the inning. I love Joseph Beth. Joseph Beth is one of my favorite places in Kentucky. I go there once a week. Why, is he calling back? Yeah. He wasn't finished.
Starting point is 00:47:00 He wasn't finished. He didn't appreciate the call. You are a team now. Stop it. Don't disrespect your broadcast partner. Bob, why did you call back? Hey, butt-dow me. Okay.
Starting point is 00:47:13 Hang up. So I'm so I'm bummed about that. Now, I mean, if Barnes & Noble leaves Joseph Beth like it is, they claim they're going to keep it independent. Okay, I didn't know that part. That's good. If they do. I hope they do.
Starting point is 00:47:28 I actually oddly went into Barnes & Noble last night, coincidentally, and it's better than it used to be in the way they do stuff. But still, Joseph Beth, I just, I understand why Joseph Beth sold. Like, it's hard, and Barnes and Noble's got, I mean, I get it. I get the financial. reasons. I'm not bummed. I mean, they've done a great service to the community for 35 years, probably. But I am bummed because I do love that place. So is Joseph Beth the one in Hamburg and Barnes and Noah's the one in Lexington Green? I don't know what you're living. Have you never? How long have you
Starting point is 00:48:02 lived here? 30 years. You don't know where Joseph Beth is? I get him confused which is which. Joseph Beth at Hamburg, Barnes & Noble at Lexington Green, or is the other way around. So the cell doesn't impact him whatsoever. Yeah, you have. no impact on the sale. Like for you, it's just like, those are books and I don't go there. 100%. This actually shocks me as long as you've lived in Lexington. I am a very surprised. Joseph Beth has been in Lexington Green since the 80s. So Joseph Beth is at Lexington Green. But you said the opposite. Right. I have fond memories of Joseph Beth too, Matt. So you, have you ever, have you ever been in Joseph?
Starting point is 00:48:40 Beth? Walk through it to get to the restaurant. The restaurant's good. It's up there in the Second floor. So you've gone through Josephette to go eat that sandwich pot. Yes, good sandwiches. I can guarantee. So yeah, this is not going to have a big impact on his life, is it? I'm not as into books as you are, but I have several fond Joseph Bennett. I was in there two weeks ago getting football preview magazines.
Starting point is 00:49:01 I'm probably in there once a month. Do you ever like contemplate going in there? 100% no. I've never bought a book at either one of those places and probably never will. I do remember a big moment in Lexington. Do you remember the day that both Hillary Clinton and Dick Vital were signing books at the same time at Joseph Beths? That was huge. I know who had the longer line.
Starting point is 00:49:30 There were thousands of people. Hillary was the first lady at the time. Yeah, I think she was. And Dick Vital was at his peak. I'm going Vitale. And they both, they accidentally, if I remember the story, they accidentally scheduled them at the wrong at the same time. Double booked them. And they didn't want to cancel either one of them.
Starting point is 00:49:46 So both of them were there. And I remember the picture, like thousands of people were in the parking lot. That was a huge story. And like they would come up and they'd go, are you in Hillary Clinton's line or Dick Vitale's line? They should have put them at the same table in one line. You get to meet them both. That would have been, I would have loved to have played the game. Are they here for Hillary or Dick?
Starting point is 00:50:07 But in the same day, same time. That's a big Lexington day. That's a good memory because I forgot about that day. I remember even before I lived in Lexington, it was like a treat to go to Joseph Beth when I was little, the big escalator. I will tell you a moment where a young Matt Jones grew up a little bit, Shannon. Yeah. I can't believe I'm telling this. Especially I got to see my parents tonight.
Starting point is 00:50:30 Of course, this happened in a bookstore. My mom loves Joseph. And we went one time. And I would, she let me roam around. And remember when Madonna had that book called Sex came out? Yeah. And someone had opened. it because it was like
Starting point is 00:50:46 sealed it was sealed someone had opened it and I found it and I may have sat in one of the aisles and I was like whoa did your mom bust you no that would have been way too embarrassing
Starting point is 00:51:02 I would like look to see if anybody was coming then turn one more page whoa you're hiding the self-help section where anybody to find you exactly right She hid the swimsuit edition of Sports Tustle. My mom would never let me see the swimsuit.
Starting point is 00:51:17 She always went to the mill before you did. Because I knew Sports Illustrated came on Thursdays. And there'd be one Thursday a year. I wouldn't have it. That was their company holiday to you. And to me, I go, what, Mom, where's the Sports Illustrate? And she said, it didn't come this week. Surprised you weren't camping out by the mailbox.
Starting point is 00:51:32 And I believe that for a long time. And then one time my friend Trevor said, did you see you, old McPherson? Yeah. I was like, oh, my mom caught me a deal. Kathy Ireland. Yeah. I love Sports Illustrated, but I never dig. And you know, they'd still put articles in the swimsuit issue. Yes.
Starting point is 00:51:49 They did? Yes. Yes. That's why we bought it. Oh, yeah. Draft Kings. I don't know what to say about draft kings. Reds Dodgers.
Starting point is 00:51:59 Who's picking the Reds? Nobody in this. $150 in bonus bets. No, no, no. I'll go Ellie. Ellie gets a home run. You're going to go Ellie home run? Yeah, Ellie home run prop.
Starting point is 00:52:09 Why does Ellie start playing? or at the end of the season when they're out of the pennant race. He's been really good since the All-Star break. He's been awesome. Yeah. So nobody's taking the rest. No. All right.
Starting point is 00:52:20 Fair enough. Thank you all very much. We will see you tomorrow. Go listen to the cover zero episode one of the new season. This has been Kentucky Sports Radio. Hey, I'm Mike Yam. And I'm Trevor Sycamma. And together we host the NFL fantasy football show.
