Hey, it's Ryan Lemon from Kentucky Sports Radio.
I'm not just a radio guy.
I'm also a realtor.
I talk to homeowners all the time.
And what's the one thing many homeowners have but rarely think about?
It's equity.
It's something that can quietly grow over time while you're busy living your life.
And for many homeowners, it can be an opportunity they haven't explored.
Whether you're planning home improvements or preparing for whatever it comes next,
your home's equity may be able to help you.
It's important to understand what's available and to find out the right option that fits your goals.
For me, I wanted to put a pool in my backyard and finish my basement.
I didn't have the money available, so I went to Stockton Mortgage.
They found the equity that already built up in my house was able to use to install my pool and finish the basement.
I would have been able to do it without them.
At Stockton Mortgage, they'll walk you through the possibilities.
Answer your questions and help you understand your next step.
If it's been a while since you've looked into your homes by you, now might be a great time to start the conversation.

Welcome to Hour 2 of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage.
Now here's Matt Jones.
Welcome back, Kentucky Sports Radio.

I want to do a couple things.
It's asked anything Wednesday.
We'll go to the phones and do our thing.
Real quick, let's go through a couple stories I like.
First of all, did you see, Ryan, what Buzz Williams said about DJ Wagner?
I did.
You told me in the car on the ride.
home. Shannon, do you know what Buzz Williams
said about DJ Wagner? No, tell me.
What do you say? Did you know that Buzz Williams
that DJ Wagner is playing for Buzz Williams?
No, I didn't. So DJ Wagner, who was at Kentucky
and then Arkansas, he is playing, do you know where Buzz Williams
coaches? These guys move around so much. I don't even remember.
No, I don't. He's at Maryland.
Yeah. Maryland. Okay, he's at Maryland. So DJ Wagner,
is that Maryland with Buzz Williams? You would have gotten none of that
sentence. You would not have known any of that.
I don't keep it with Buzz or DJ Wagner.
All right.
So here's what Buzz Williams said about DJ Wagner.
I'm going to read the quote.
He's the most beautiful human being I've ever seen that's as fast as he is.
I have a hard time coaching him because I wish my heart was more like his.
So I'm a little intimidated when I'm in his presence because I feel polluted in my soul.
If he wanted to move into my house, I'd let him move into my house.
You sure that wasn't Mark Pope?
It does kind of sound like Mark.
I agree.
Man crush much?
I can't believe the line.
When I'm in his presence, I feel polluted in my soul.
That's poetry.
I'm going to try that on Yoga Girl tonight.
That's a guy with a man crush on somebody.
Yeah, but it's also like.
Belittle yourself.
Yeah, it's kind of self-hating.
And this is a grown man talking about a 22-year-old.
Like when I see you, I feel polluted in my soul.
I mean, it's nice, but it is weird, isn't it?
It's very weird.
And I, you know, I think DJ is just a fine guy.
You know, I don't have anything bad to say about him.
But like when he walked in the room, I didn't, I didn't feel feelings.
Did you feel like your soul was polluted?
No, I just thought I was a good kid.
It's got a bright future head of him.
It didn't really, you know, when it's talking on my heart.
It is odd.
Now, I also want to play you, Shannon.
we don't play a lot of hockey clips.
This is the goalie for the Calgary Flames.
His name is, I believe, Jordan Cooley.
Just to give you some backstory,
Calgary Flames are like the worst team in the NHL,
but they have a really good goalie.
Okay, and this is him?
And this is him.
And the Carolina Hurricanes are like the best team in the NHL,
and Calgary upset them.
So for them, huge win.
Worst team beats the best team.
They interview the goalie afterwards.
And as I heard it, here's what I was thinking.
thinking. This is how Ryan Lemon should approach KSR.
Okay? The way he's talking is how I want Ryan to be when he comes on KSR.
Okay. We'll play like about the first 35, 40 seconds, Shannon. Go ahead.
But 34 saves in your night, just how you felt and what you saw as you looked out from your crease.
Yes. I felt nothing. The problem with me is that I have a lot of fun playing.
but when I start having too much fun,
it makes me into,
from an unconscious goalie to a conscious goalie,
and my conscious brain is really bad at playing goalie.
So I have to let my unconscious brain do the work
because it reacts a lot quicker.
When I'm having too much fun and I'm smiling
and I'm talking to everybody and I'm hanging out,
what happens is that shifts me into more conscious brain goalie.
And then I can't react in time,
and then I'm slow, I'm behind the play,
and then I give up seven goals, you know?
But today it was just unconscious.
Like don't think about anything.
You know, if you ask me how I made a save my back, I have no idea.
Just my unconscious brain does it.
And that's what you work and practice for, you know.
All right, so there you go.
I think Ryan Shannon is better as unconscious goalie.
When he just walks in and lets his brain be its natural stealth.
Don't try too hard.
Don't try too hard.
When he's conscious goalie and he's trying to say, you know, sexy this and burr-ber-ber-ber-this.
that's where he gets himself in trouble.
But I think unconscious goalie Ryan, Drew, I think that's the best Ryan.
So we want Ryan to walk in and not think.
Just be Ryan.
Don't think too hard.
Don't think.
We need them to prepare, but then prepare, but don't think.
Because I think this goalie practices.
Don't force it.
He practices.
Yeah.
So he needs to prepare Shannon, but don't think.
That's right.
Yeah.
Do you agree with that?
Just go do.
Don't get inside your.
own head. Just go out, you know, just come in here and have some fun.
Be unconscious goalie.
That's right.
So when you start making really bad jokes, I'm going to start saying, no, be your unconscious
goalie.
I think, don't be your conscious goalie.
Be your unconscious goalie.
I think I not only need to do this for KSR, I need to do this in life.
I think I'd be a lot happier in life.
You just walk around and be happy.
Be free.
But prepare.
But prepare.
That doesn't mean you can just walk in,
stains and just look at everybody and go,
here I am.
You prepare,
but then you just go unconscious.
So no more staying in a Holiday Inn Express.
That makes me too smart.
That's a conscious goalie.
Yeah.
That's you trying to get a line in.
Unconscious goalie is you just going,
is you just whatever's on your mind.
Right.
We'll try it.
Although it could be dangerous with Ryan,
whatever's on your mind.
No, but I'll accept that.
More than I will accept Tennessee girls dip and all that stuff.
That's facts, though.
I like this.
You like it?
Well, I have to stay on them.
We're going to stay on.
Some reminders of what goal is being.
But I want you to listen to Jordan Cooley's clip, the rest of it, and just think, Ryan, this is who I am.
I can tell you listening to his clip right there kind of made my head hurt.
He was talking about unconscious.
It's because you weren't letting your unconscious go.
Yeah, you were trying to think about it.
You were trying to think about it.
Instead of just feeling the flow.
Go with the flow.
He says when he's having fun, that's when he's at his best.
Having fun.
Not thinking.
Not thinking.
Right now I'm out of the flow.
I need to get in the flow.
Get back in the flow.
And that's our phrase.
Unconscious goalie.
All right.
We're all going to stay on him.
Of course.
Adam. Go ahead, Adam.
Hey, what's up guys?
Matt, was it Mike Pratt that said to you that
during Billy Gillespie's
early tenure, like,
this just isn't going to work.
Yes, it was Mike Preb.
Walked in my office after I think he'd gone to like two or three
Billy Gillespie practices,
and he just laughed and said,
yeah, Matt, this isn't going to work.
Okay, this is us talking,
and nobody's listening.
We're just having that conversation.
You know,
Toby Smith was a great guy.
We all loved him.
But at the end, it just wasn't going to work.
At the end, though,
But it did work for a long time with him, and I do think that's important saying.
I think at the end, that may have slipped off, but I don't think that was true during most of his tenure.
No, no, absolutely.
But we don't have that at the beginning of Mark Pope.
And that quote seems to be like out of touch with reality.
It's like why would you put that quote out there that we're telling recruits we're not paying top dollar?
It's like, dude, there's a reason you're not getting high school recruits.
It's just not going to work.
Well, I won't give you the second one yet.
I appreciate the call.
But I do agree with the first one.
I don't know.
When I read it, I thought to myself, I don't know why he said this.
And I don't, at the same time, though, I don't want to, like, make it to where he can't talk.
He needs to, I think Mark Pope needs to be an unconscious goal.
I could use a little PR help here.
There is something to...
Do you think, though, that he kind of just needs to be like...
In the flow?
But I think he is a very conscious goalie.
I think when he puts on his goalie pads, it's all...
Remember, he's big on cerebral stuff and...
He doesn't have that in the...
I just think that's how he's built.
Yeah.
And I'm like that, too.
I don't know that I have an unconscious goalie.
One point to defend him, when Cal was at the spot, he just got in a cave and didn't talk to anyone.
I mean, Pope is doing interviews.
I wish he were better at them.
But it is weird.
We complain.
Wish they'd do more than they do it.
Fair enough.
But at the same time, like, I think about Chris Rocks.
I take care of my kids.
What you want a cookie.
Like you're supposed to do.
Okay.
Good way to put it.
You know.
But that doesn't mean you're supposed to do interviews and then we are all baffled.
Right.
Yeah.
So I don't know.
But you're right.
We do want him to talk.
I don't know.
Pete.
Go ahead, Pete.
Hey guys, the whole thing about we're not going to be the highest and all that.
I think that's BS.
I just think he's trying to build a narrative for why we can't land so many targets we go after.
We hear so many stories of guys that are on the verge of committing, and they spend a long week in here.
But why do you think Pete?
Pete, I agree with you that that's a narrative and not reality, but why do you think he wants to have that narrative out there?
Do you think that helps?
I think it's just to be honest I think it's just an excuse to why I mean Stokes made a fool out of us everybody knew he was going to Kansas everybody that seemed to be in the know knew he was going yeah we didn't accept it and and I don't know if it's blinders I don't know if it's naive to tell you I don't I don't understand it myself yeah but I think he's just making I think he's building a resume for why we keep missing on so many people and
And it comes out well.
I'll tell you that.
That's not going to be.
First of all, Pete,
I think, and I appreciate the call.
I think your explanation is not necessarily wrong.
I would say that won't be an explanation that the people in charge at Kentucky are going to like.
And I'll just leave it at that.
I think if that is the strategy of deflection, which I'm not saying that's what he's doing.
But if that is what he's doing, the folks in.
charge of the UK are not going to like that. Because I know the folks in charge at UK and the folks
at JMI believe that they are giving him everything he wants to create a roster.
So I'm not saying that's what he meant because I don't really know what he meant, but I hope
that's not what he meant because that's not going to be a good explanation for the folks that
are going to decide the future. Shane, go ahead, Shane.
Hey, what's up guys? Yeah, I got a few points I want to make.
And so I just watched his interview, Pope's interview with Andy Kast and Seth Davis.
And I get like, I got nothing from it.
It's so boring.
And you said something, Matt, last year that I think it's just so spot on.
I remember you saying there's no place for niceness in college sports.
And I love Mark Pope.
I mean, I'm 41 years old, so I was 11, 12, and 13 years old.
when we played the three-strength title games.
Mark Pope is literally, he's a hero of mine.
I love that guy.
But he's really nice.
And people who are nice in that way, you know,
it's like indirectly hostile in that you can't ever hold really nice guys accountable.
And I will, it's, I feel so much different now than when we had Mark Mitchell committed,
I felt completely different for some reason about this roster.
I'm really afraid.
Yeah, I did too.
I did too.
I did too.
I think he would be great with what we have.
I appreciate the call.
You know, there is a niceness, I think, helps, but it only gets you so far.
It reminds me of my friend, one of my friends in college who, I was in like the dorkiest
for a turkey.
No.
Now, come on.
That's a shocker.
No, we met your friends.
aren't dorks. Okay, first of all, watch yourself. He was being an unconscious goalie there.
Watch, that's true. He was being an unconscious goal. Actually, we knew encourage the unconscious
goal. But, like, we let in everybody. And I remember one of my friends in the fraternity
was kind of frustrated that we continued to let in everybody. And people would get up when it was
time to decide whether to take somebody and they would go, you know, he's a nice guy. I remember
he stood up at one point and goes
nice, nice, everybody's
freaking nice.
And it always stuck with me
because you're like, you got to have something
besides being nice.
My view was
we are the biggest collection of dorks
on the planet.
If we had another dork,
we're going to be fine.
I was very much like,
what difference does it?
Have you all looked?
Have we looked at each other?
Stop beating yourself up like that.
I'm not beating myself up.
You need to touch.
No, unconscious goalie.
I got to let him cook.
You know, but I thought Mark Pope was trying to be dark Pope now and not be the nice guy.
But see, that's not, that's conscious goalie.
That's not him.
It's trying too hard.
I think that's trying to hard because I don't think that's him.
That would be like me trying to act like I was a tough guy.
Yes.
Like me walking around going, you want some of this.
But if you complain about him being nice and then he tries to change him he is.
You know what?
That's a good point.
I don't know what he's supposed to do.
Just be a little cooler.
He tries to be cool.
You can say he's trying too hard.
Good point.
Stop trying to be cool.
What are you wanting to do, Shannon?
I want him to win games.
That's ultimately all that matters.
Just win.
Just win.
New Mexico State Sam Houston play tonight.
It's like the only game in sports.
No, Louisville, Kansas.
In what?
Basketball.
I'd rather watch New Mexico, Sam Houston, if we're being honest.
Louisville and Kansas.
Okay.
So Louisville and Kansas.
Who you got?
Is that on television?
ESPNU.
All right, I do want to watch that.
I do want to watch that.
Who you got?
I'm going to go with Kansas.
I think they're the team to beat this year, and I'm going to go with them.
They got like five new players in the last week.
So I'm going to go Kansas.
Never Louisville, Kansas.
Go to Draft Kings bet $5.
You can win up to $200 in bonus bets.
It's Draft Kings, draft Kings.com.
We got a lot accomplished in that segment.
We got you in the right frame of mind.
Shannon was oddly the reasonable one for once.
We'll take a break.
Be right back.

Bloomberg's Big Take podcast has everything you need to know about the most expensive midterms in U.S. history, like the money being spent to control the Senate.
Everyone has been waiting to see how Trump will spend his big war chest. He was sitting on nearly half a billion dollars.
How candidates are rewriting their party's playbooks.
You have El Zaid, who is a former health official, giving rise to a lot of the economic populism.
I'm wondering where you see this sort of definition of the working class going from here.
Well, it's essentially now everyone, right?
50% of college educated workers consider themselves working class.
50% of high earners do.
And how big business is throwing its money into the ring.
Gambling super PACs, sports betting companies, there's obviously the AI super PACs.
Don't just witness history unfold.

And we'll discuss the game that brought us together because nothing is off limits.
Do you remember your initial reaction when Fox called you to be a part of the World Cup?
I was like, no, I don't want to do it.
You said no?
I played with players that didn't, I don't think that they really truly love the game.
I found the love with the ball at my foot.
But in my head, it was the long game.
It was like, I don't care what I'm being asked to do at Fox.
I'm going to go get some reps, and I'm going to learn it and love it and embrace it.
He said, this group of people will never be in the same room as part of the same team ever again in your life.

One person writes, Matt, was Drew being an unconscious goalie during the postgame show.
That is true.
That was your unconscious goal.
It's a very fair assessment.
Unconscious being the keyword there.
You're great.
That's a top 10 Drew Franklin moment.
It reminded me of the fact that the very first podcast Drew ever did.
You know, you would think Shannon, first time you're going to be on a podcast,
knew you want to make a good impression.
Yep.
Right.
You come prepared.
The very first podcast Drew did.
He asked me to pick him up at Ten Roof and he was wearing an American flag.
I think it was too key.
He was wearing an American flag one thing.
an American flag onesie.
And he brought a person who neither of us knew to get in the car with us to go do it.
In my defense.
So that's how you make a good impression.
We played in the World Cup at 7 a.m.
Big World Cup guy.
I didn't ask for it to be at 7 a.m.
And it was my birthday.
So by the time you wanted to podcast at 6, I was an unconscious goalie.
I understand.
I love that neither of you knew the guy.
You thought that each other knew that guy, but neither one of you knew the guy.
And somewhere out there, that guy's there.
He said it on the first ever KSR podcast.
And he maybe doesn't even know because he didn't know us either.
Just ends up there in the room with you.
He was there for a unconscious goalie moment.
859-280-2287.
One person says, you all give Ryan a hard time.
If he's so bad, how does he end up with every endorsement in the city of Lexington
for every single company on every station?
How would you answer that?
Eat it. I'm going to do all of them. I need the money.
How do you think you get all of them? I mean, that's a lot of endorsements.
Yeah.
Throw me a few bones over here. I mean, it might not be that it might be that you say yes to most things.
Yes. And I'm incredibly handsome. It's radio.
It is radio. It is radio. I have a soothing, sexy voice.
And maybe also like you, like, you're right.
Yes.
You make a very reasonable rate for people.
You'll sing.
You'll do whatever they ask.
And then you'll do whatever they ask.
So I think all of that plays to it.
You are, Shannon, you're not in late.
He is on every commercial.
Is he?
On every state.
Even the hip-hop commercial, he'll be like, yo, yo, yo, listen to a 94 point.
It's like he's on everything.
Do you know the story about the Brewers' Timeless Ticket?
The timeless ticket.
This is a great story.
It is.
So in 2015, for reasons that I'm not, are not clear, Shannon, the brewers for $1,000 sold something called a timeless ticket.
They said you could keep it for your entire life.
And at any point in your life, you could turn it in and buy the best available seat to whatever game you wanted.
Buy it or they're going to give it to you.
You had to buy it.
Had to buy it?
But at like face value rate.
Okay.
for $1,000.
But again, you can hold it forever if you want it.
True.
So I don't know why people would have bought that.
I think the ticket's free.
The tickets free.
You can buy more like maybe up to three with it.
Okay, so the ticket's free.
So you're basically paying $1,000 and saying you can go to any game you want in the future one time.
Oh, yeah, that changes things.
It's not for every game.
Yeah.
Any game you want for one time.
A golden ticket to get into any game.
It's a golden ticket to any getting any game.
All right.
Fast forward.
This was 2015.
People have held on to that thing for 11 years.
Now they make the World Series.
Yeah.
So not surprisingly, a lot of people are like, here's the ticket.
Time to cash it in.
Cash it in.
It's like money in the bank.
I'm going to cash in the money in the bank suitcase.
Apparently, the brewers say they kind of forgot about this whole thing.
Oops.
at the time they even said including the World Series not knowing they'd be at one
yeah exactly because they were like well we'll never make the World Series
so they kind of forgot about this thing well all of a sudden here comes all the people with
their monies in the bank 700 people tried to cash in their timeless ticket
goodness and they didn't have the tickets
they don't have enough to give them for the World Series so people start going online
being like I bought this damn thing in 2015 it's been in my drawer
forever and now they won't take it.
Well, the brewers have since scrambled.
They're getting all the people in.
All 700?
All 700.
But potentially with like folding chairs.
Some of them are standing room only.
Some of them are not.
And they've gotten so much pushback that they've now said,
all right, you can get in and we'll give you back the ticket.
To use again?
To use again in the future.
Oh, wow.
We'll be more ready in the future.
So they're basically getting the ticket plus getting it back.
Can they use it like in game two?
They cannot use in game two.
They did say it can't be for this World Series.
Shannon, do you think that's a fair resolution to their mess up?
Yes, because they're giving you another chance to go back.
I mean, what if the Brewers go back to the World Series next year?
Now you got another World Series ticket.
But they should have known that they did this.
I mean, yeah, it was 11 years ago, but it wasn't 100 years ago.
It wasn't a hundred years ago.
years ago. Exactly. I mean, how did they not think that maybe, I mean, clearly they sold at least
700. They had to think one day someone's going to try to, I guess they thought people would get
antsy and do it before then. People would forget about it. Or they'd forget about it or something
like that. But it seems like they should have, plus, did they just really need money in 2015?
It was like a quick cash grab. They sold a thousand of them for a thousand. So they sold a million
and now they're telling people
So they just really need a million dollars?
I guess.
I mean, think if you, you know,
if you invested that thousand 10 years,
you could have more than doubled it
and now you're being told
you can have a standing room only.
Right.
But you get to get it back.
It just, they should honor it the way it was pitched 10 years ago.
I agree with Drew.
Even though it was a dumb idea.
I agree with Drew.
They told them.
I really want to know why they did this.
Because it seems like this had to be.
Shannon foreseeable that this could be a problem.
Yeah. Yeah. I think, like you said, I think it's just a quick cash grab.
Like, we got to have a million dollars right. Yeah, we need a million dollars right now.
But you're right. You didn't think 700 of them would hold onto that ticket to use it at one game.
And they all wanted to use it in one game. Yep. Game one. That was never on across their mind,
I'm sure. I would have held out for like game six or seven, right? Right. I definitely would have
held out for a World Series. Yeah. Like everyone has done. All right. We'll take, go back to calls right after this.

Let's go to Greg.
Go ahead, Greg.
Hey, guys.
First time, a long time.
Who are?
What's up?
Hey, I've been listening in, and I've got to tell you, Saturday night, you guys went from me listening in on occasional post-game follow-up shows to Mush Listen Radio.
So I appreciate that.
Well, thank you very much.
I just wanted to set a little historical context here.
I've heard some references to the last time it was just good in football.
Yes.
And dating myself a little bit here.
but I came down from Pennsylvania in the mid-70s to go to the U.K.
for a specialized major and arrived just at the time when a four-game series with Penn State was starting.
And I'll try to cut to the quick here.
But other than a reference to 1977, I don't think you guys have really gotten into that in too much detail.
Well, because we cheated.
That year.
I mean, we cheated.
We cheated that year.
Well, we were my sophomore year.
We were 10 at 1, 6 and 0 in the SEC featuring road wins at number four ranked in state, 24 to 20.
LSU on the road, 33 to 13, Georgia is 33 to nothing at Athens.
So to me, and this is my 50th year of UK football, this is right now approaching 1977.
I agree with you.
And I actually think, and I appreciate the call, it would be more impressive now.
Because the conference is bigger.
There are more powerful programs.
But yes.
I mean, that year is the most, is the last year since we have been like this.
We did cheat.
But now there's no cheating.
I still think we sleep on 2018 a little bit.
They went seven and one and their only loss was at A&M in overtime.
But didn't they lose like four of the last five?
No, they lost at Georgia.
Is that the one that finished nine and three?
Yeah.
Okay.
They won at Florida, at Florida was kind of the LSU moment we have with this season.
So we went two and two in the last four.
Yeah.
Okay.
I think Georgia and Tennessee.
They only played 11 games that year.
Different SEC slate, but they were seven and one too.
The thing about this year compared to that, the 2018,
I believe now they can win out in these games now.
Back then, I remember looking at the schedule, like, oh, I don't know if we got to be strong.
Well, I think we still had to play Tennessee and somebody.
That was on with Chris.
Louisville at Louisville, too.
That was a big year.
I was on with Chris Dorian and Peter Burns this morning.
And he was asking me about the difference.
And I said, the real difference is you always had Georgia on the back end.
Like whatever our record was, we kind of were waiting to play Georgia.
And it was like we knew that wasn't going to go well.
I said, that's not the case.
There's nobody that we look at and we say, well, we cannot beat them.
Right.
That's why I'm different now than I was in 2018.
They have, Doreen said the number.
have us as a 30% chance, or excuse me, 25% chance to finish 3 and 2 in our last, or 4 and 1, or something
like that in our last games. So basically 25% chance to go 3 out of 4 in the last ones.
We're going to be a favorite. We are a favorite, by the way, now, if the numbers hold against
Louisville at home and against Florida at home, underdog at Tennessee, underdog at Missouri.
and like I said, I think the whole fan base believes that,
that they deserve to be a favorite in these games.
Yeah, 859-280-2287. Doc, go ahead, Doc.
Hey, guys.
So a couple points here.
And this may be more in Ryan's wheelhouse.
But will the K-H-S-A-E ever classify baseball in the state of Kentucky?
The reason I'm asking that is,
last year, if you followed,
a little team out of Eastern Kentucky,
Boyd County, made it to the final four,
got beat out by Trinity,
made it back to the state tournament this year,
made it to the championship game,
got beat out by Trinity.
So Trinity has won the state championship
three years in a row.
But isn't that more,
isn't that more of a Trinity thing than it is a class thing?
I mean, you could tell me if I'm wrong,
but I feel like baseball more than any other sport,
small teams do make it.
It's just the Trinity problem,
which is really a private school problem,
and just in terms of the way they're able to have the amount of players,
isn't that a bigger deal than classification?
I mean, wouldn't you rather Boyd County play big teams than play, you know,
just little tiny teams around the state?
Sure, absolutely.
100%.
But, you know,
there's a lot of profits.
Sorry, we're losing you right there.
Your phone's breaking up.
I appreciate the call.
Do you think they would ever classify?
I don't think so.
I don't think Kentucky's going to do it.
You know, there's always that talk out there trying to have a private school tournament
and a public school tournament.
I had a lot of backers not long ago,
but I don't think we'll ever go to a class.
The biggest issue to me is football.
Yeah.
And specifically the way they classify it.
Like Louisville Christian should be playing.
There should just be like,
they should just have all the private schools play each other in football.
There's an argument for that.
They,
they were pushing for that in their own private school tournaments.
I mean, it would be good.
I don't think the rest of the state would care as much.
It really got a lot of traction at one year.
They were like, what, four private schools that won state football tournaments out of six?
But like Christian Academy, Louisville's crazy good.
They may be the best team in the state and they're like, what, 3A?
But wouldn't you like to see, even if it, wouldn't you like to see Christian Academy play Trinity or play, I think what, Frederick Douglass is number two or whatever?
But they're going to just beat up on these teams that are three A.
Yeah, that are their size.
Yeah.
But that's why they usually, it's a Katewalk for them to get to the state championship.
By the way, Middlesbrough is second in the state just for the record.
I mean, we could be heading for a Middlesboro Pikeville State Championship, which also, by the way, are the,
the two teams playing next year in the KSR
Bowl. So you could have a world
where Middlesbrough and Pike will play for the state
championship with a rematch next year in the
KSR Bowl.
I don't know if that should have been announced, Shannon.
I don't know if that's a fidget. It's out there now.
I didn't know it was. I guess I found out too.
Just act like I didn't say that.
If I wasn't supposed to say that.
Were you been an unconscious goalie there?
I think I was being an unconscious goalie.
I was just thinking about how nice it
would be at the inaugural KSR ball.
It's like when the NFL books the Super Bowl rematch to lead off the season.
You're saying Pikeville-Mittlesboro will be a rematch.
I said, I'm not doing a KSR bowl unless it's two powers.
The northeast corner of the state versus the southeast corner of the state.
Sounds to me like you're duck in the west where Madisonville is the highest-scorn team in the state.
I advocated for East versus West.
But you don't want this smoke.
We're getting like 55 points.
I was told we want the powers in the inaugural KSR bowl.
Maybe in year two you have Matt versus Drew.
It starts sort of like the great expansion of America.
We slowly move to like Somerset.
And then we'll go kind of across.
We'll head west, young man.
Let's go to Morton.
Hello, Morton.
Hey, guys, this is actually Jordan from Burset.
I've got a couple of questions for you.
Which team,
Kentucky basketball or football,
do you think will be ranked the highest this year,
and which team's going to make the elite eight the quickest?
I'll hang up here, guys, and let you listen.
I'll give a big shout out to John Gordon Wilhoit and Brazil.
Are you saying, no, we don't do shouts?
Are you saying basketball or football,
their peak rating?
He's gone.
That's a good question, though.
Let's just assume he means who gets the highest ranked
in the season. Kentucky basketball or football? Football is number 12 right now.
And if they beat Vandy, then they have a buy week. I would presume they will get in the top 10.
Yes. If they beat Vandy. Does Kentucky basketball get in the top 10 this year?
Oh, man, that's tough. I agree with you. UK football is going to get in the top 10 if they finish
the business. If they beat Vandy, if they beat Vandy, I think they'll be in the top 10 when they play Tennessee.
That's why this week's so important.
We get guaranteed two weeks of more of this if you just beat Vandy.
But basketball getting into the top 10?
Top 10, Shannon.
Are we getting in the top 10?
Okay, so we're starting off at 23rd, right?
I'm just looking at the schedule here.
So, I mean, if you could beat Kansas.
Okay, hang on.
I'll tell you what.
Let's go through this after.
We've got to do the math.

Welcome back, Tucky Sports Radio.
We'll probably talk more about this tomorrow, as if on cue hearing Mark Pope's comment.
Matt Norlander has released a piece
with what every team he believes is spending this year
on their roster. Oh, wow, what does he say?
He believes Duke, Florida, Kentucky, Illinois, and Louisville are the top five.
That's kind of what's been out there.
That'd be more than modest, though, wouldn't it?
But then he said modest of the top tier.
I'm telling you, he's over correct.
He wants us to believe than what it really is.
Because last year he said Ferrari, and there was that reaction.
This year he wants to lower the bar in our brains.
Yeah, but I mean, like, Matt Norlander's not going to make
I agree. That's what made the comments even harder to listen to yesterday.
I'm telling you, like I said, that was a C-Y-A comment.
But I don't think it works.
I think he's playing a lot of victim and getting defensive.
All right.
Real quick, what do you think of the uniforms that we're wearing Saturday?
I like them. We've worn them in the past.
I did think with it being a blue out, we would wear like every possible shade of blue we could.
But I don't mind the gray.
I know some people want traditional.
this is kind of what Will come from Oregon.
They wore something different every week, and I think that's what he's going to be doing.
I'm fine with it. I mean, this aren't my favorites, but like I'm fine with it.
I'm definitely fine with it.
We, like Drew said, we've worn these before.
It's a different look, you know, something different that he's trying to instill every week.
All right, so are we going to be in the top 10?
Shannon, go through your thinking process there.
Yeah, so you're starting at number 23.
Your first 10 games you really have, I mean, I don't know if Indiana is going to, are they any good this year, Indiana basketball?
I think they're going to be decent.
You're going to be on the road there.
You got Kansas and Virginia.
If you could start that first 10 game stretch, 9 and 1, maybe you squeeze into the top 10.
But do I think that that's going to happen?
No, I think they probably drop Virginia and Kansas, so I don't think they'll be in the top 10.
And then you don't think we can make it during the SEC play.
Then the SEC starts and no, you're not going to make the top 10 at that point.
If you're going to make the top 10, it's got to be in the pre-conference schedule.
I agree with you.
I think you have to beat Kansas.
In order for Kentucky to make the top 10 this year, I think they got to beat Kansas.
Then other teams will play good teams kind of before you play a lot of good teams,
so maybe you rise after they lose.
I think it requires a Kansas win and maybe even an Indiana win.
Or at Virginia would be a big win.
So it pains me to say it.
Yeah, I don't think we're going to be in the top 10 this year.
I think we'll, I don't know that, I think we'll hover between 10 and 20 a bunch.
but I don't think we'll be in the top.
I mean, starting at 23 is hard, which I don't agree with.
I think this poll is stupid, but we're talking about getting in the top 10 and starting that far back is not easy.
You almost have to go, I think you even have to go 4 and O before Christmas in those big games to get there.
I don't think you have to do that because these other teams are going to lose.
I mean, like, the good thing about college basketball, good teams play each other.
So there's going to be a lot of losses.
I don't think you've got to be undefeated to be.
I think you could be in the top 10 with one.
one loss.
But I think it matters when you lose it, too.
Yeah.
And that's why I think the Kansas game.
I think we beat Kansas, though, we might be in the top.
We could be in the top 10, like week three if we beat Kansas.
You know, I've said, I think this team reminds me a lot of Pope's first team.
That team started the season ranked 23rd.
We start this season rank 23rd.
That first team got as high as 12th.
That first team never got in the top team.
Really?
They had an amazing start.
They beat Duke.
Yeah.
Well, according to Google.
Google said they only got as high as 12.
I don't know if that's true.
But it could be true.
I mean, that team, remember, they had the record for top 15 wins.
Well, if they never got in the top 10, then I don't know.
I don't think this team will.
I agree.
I think, now again, there's always a possibility you could lose to Van Die and not make the top 10 in football.
But I think we're going to be bandy.
Well, even then the question was who'd get the highest when we get to 12 because football is already at 12.
I also agree.
I'll say, if this team's not in the top 10.
all year though fans are not going to like that
I mean I
that's just true
let's go to Cooper
go ahead Cooper
I believe that Pope's first team was
ranked as high as fifth when they played
Louisville but I could be wrong but
I think you're probably right I think I don't know
Ryan what Google did you look at
they were fourth says the Kentucky Wildcatch
reaches high as number 12 in the final A people
What do you look at what are you? That's the final
A people week 11 fourth
week 12 fifth week 13th fourth
week 16th, 6, week 17th, 8th, week 18th night.
I'm just telling you what got on Google right here.
What does you mean on Google?
I googled how high was UK basketball ranked in the 24-25 season?
Google.
Yeah, the AI Google.
Looks like non-weeks in the top team.
I can't trust it.
You got to stop using that.
You got to go to an actual website.
All right, go ahead, Cooper.
And then the timeless ticket situation, it really reminds me of the office episode,
the Scott's Todd, when Michael Promises.
to pay the kid tuition and just completely forgets about it.
So that's a good call.
It is a little Scott's Tots.
Appreciate the call,
which is one of the most awkward episodes of television of all time.
It gives you like a cringe feeling.
Yeah, because of how sad the kids would be.
And Scott's Tots was such a great nickname for Scott Satterfield back when he was at a little bit.
He had Scott's Tots energy.
Bob and Jamestown, you have like 30 seconds or less.
What?
Are your thoughts, memories, and experience about Kentucky's premier show place, state exposition center?
Thank you very much.
I appreciate the call.
He didn't get his full 30 seconds in.
What a bizarre question.
The fact that it would smell like cows every time we did the state fair.
And it smelled like popcorn.
You know?
Yeah.
Then it would smell like popcorn when you would.
go into that main. I just remember going to some of those Kentucky games. They'd play there
one game every year and it always smelled because it was always after the rodeo or the circus
or something. I remember the Anthony Davis team played like Arkansas State. It was a close game
and it smelled horrible in there throughout the whole game. Best game in there in modern era
was when we beat Indiana. Mike Davis went running, hitting his head there. That was in that
Freedom Hall. Yes, it was. All right, draft kings, NBA season started. We didn't do this last
night. I always tell you, bet five, you can win up $200 in Draft Kings. This is my
draft king's NBA. Who's going to make the finals this year? Ryan Lemon, you're always good at this.
Who you got? I'm going to take the Knicks to repeat. In the West, I'll go with, I'm just going
to take a shot in the dark. I have no idea. Golden State Warriors. They're going to get hot.
Yeah, Steph's hurt. Okay, I need to change that then. No, you got to stick with him. What do you
got spurs get back i don't want to do sixers i want to do celtics i guess i'll do the nicks it's
kind of a lame lame rematch but i don't believe in lebron getting philly there i don't either
i'm gonna do i'm gonna do okay c sixers okay you think brawn gets it lebron gets in there i think he's
like the fourth best player on the team i don't think he's why they gets there i just think he's a really
good fourth player last night it was max he had the biggest game yeah and you got you know jelum brown
Embed will be if he's healthy in the playoffs.
What about you, Shenz?
Spurs, I agree with.
I think Drew said that.
And I'm going to go with my Boston Celtics.
Yeah.
They didn't look too good yesterday, though.
Our best player yesterday was Paul George.
They gave up like a 25-0 run.
Why did the NBA season start at 3 o'clock in the afternoon?
That was weird.
Place was packed.
It was.
Somebody, my co-host on Matt Meier in this week for a couple days is David Dennis.
He said he thought that was for Europe.
They're going to start scheduling games at 3 o'clock so that people in
Europe can watch them live, which makes some sense, actually.
Plus, I'm kind of a, I think having a game in the afternoon is not bad for people who work from home.
I watch most of it.
Yeah.
All right.
Thank you, folks, very much.
Remember Friday, we're at Paul Miller Ford.
This is Kentucky Sports Radio.
