Starting point is 00:03:56 Welcome back. Hour number two, Kentucky Sports Radio Friday, October 25th, 859-280, 2287, here 46 solutions. 46 solutions got all your audio, video, showroom needs if you're trying to create a great wall to mount your TV, your stereo, et cetera. Let me tell you some of the things they do here, Shannon. They'll have, they can create it where you have a bar hidden in a motorized bourbon barrel. I want one of those. Or a coffee bar hidden in a cabinet.
Starting point is 00:04:23 Wow. Or a TV that moves up and down over a fireplace. How do I, like, if I want one of these in my basement, what do I do? You go to 46 solutions. And they'll have at least 46 different ways you can do it right here. You come see their showroom. It's out here next Lexington Green next to Joseph Beth. I'm out here once a week at that bookstore.
Starting point is 00:04:44 And there are always people coming in and out here so you can come. And you even have a pool table. I don't think you can take it with you, but you could go play some pool while you're here. They're going to be pretty hard to move. But yeah, that's a cool spot out here. I always like coming out here. Always associated with the – they sent us off on a road trip. Maybe our last road trip.
Starting point is 00:05:00 Is it last year? I think it was just you. They wanted you to be gone. No, they gave us the 46 bourbons. They did. Shannon stole that guy's jacket. The jacket, remember that? Oh, that's right.
Starting point is 00:05:08 Yeah, we left to our wet-stop. Yeah, we left right for road trip, and you never gave that guy's jacket back. I thought he was giving it to me to keep. He came back, apparently, wanting it. No, remember, you didn't want to carry it on the plane. You left it wherever we were. I don't think I could hear it. I don't think we told him that.
Starting point is 00:05:22 Yeah. It wasn't a want to, is I couldn't. So that jacket's not allowed on the plane. I don't think that's what happened. 859-9-280-22-87, but yes, by the way, we, We leave on our road trip December 1st. I hope you all realize we're driving to Seattle. That's just a little over a month away, Ryan, all the way to Seattle.
Starting point is 00:05:42 You know, it's going to be an awesome experience for Kentucky to play in that environment. Kind of Pope going back to where he has some roots back there, so I think it'll be a really fun trip. Are you excited to drive across the country? I am absolutely not. No. See, I ride shotgun with Matt, so I have to stay awake and engage with him to make sure he stays engaged. Well, we're taking, the four of us, Mario's going, and then if Lexington Christian has lost, then we will take Max as well.
Starting point is 00:06:10 What's that vehicle look like? Yeah, is this a bus? No, you're just going to have to get close in the back. But, no, it should be a lot of fun. If we have that many people in the car, I may opt out. You cannot opt out. This is not an NIL situation. We barely fit with four.
Starting point is 00:06:26 No, we're going to get it. We'll get a car that's worthy of the trip. It's going to be a good time. So just a couple updates. The kitten county, the principal, one of the kids that the thing was their kid. Okay. So it was their kid and friends. Still not, you still shouldn't do it.
Starting point is 00:06:43 Yeah. But I don't know if that makes a difference to people, but it is worth nothing. It's not as creepy if your child's there and it's their friends as if you're just a principal. And you're like, hey, kids, before graduation, come on over. I'll throw you a party. That's a little different. You think that's a little different. Okay.
Starting point is 00:06:57 Let's talk about a couple things. 859-280-2027. I'll go to the phone right after this. Yankees Dodgers starts tonight. East Coast versus West Coast. Aaron Judge, Shohei Otani, Lexington's own, Walker Bueller, got Garrett Cole, Soto, Mookie Betts. That's the most baseball players I've been able to name for any World Series in years.
Starting point is 00:07:18 Are you excited, Ryan to watch Yankees Dodge? I am. Like I said, I like playoff baseball, and I love the World Series. I'll probably watch them as I can. Here's a crazy thing. I have a ticket to go to the game. tonight if I could make it out there what yeah to where L.A to L.A. to watch game one I have a ticket what does that mean you have a ticket guy called me to say I got an extra ticket if you want to
Starting point is 00:07:41 meet me out here I'm not kidding I got Frederick Douglass football tonight you're gonna skip the world seriously you're gonna skip game one Yankees Dodgers for Frederick Douglas versus George Rogers Clark that's right it's where your priorities are Kentucky Auburn tomorrow got my My brother and his family are coming in. Do you actually know the guy, or is this somebody on the line that says fly out here and then they don't even show up? Just out of curiosity, why did, I mean, it's not like L.A.'s down the street. Why did he think you?
Starting point is 00:08:12 He knows I'm a big baseball guy. And I. So why don't you say, how about game two and then go out there tomorrow? I think he's just out there just for a couple days and he had some tickets. And I could go. He's bad World Series tickets. Yep. I'll go.
Starting point is 00:08:25 I don't know if you've seen. So the Dodgers, you know, the Dodgers have game one and two. out there. They are saying that the tickets, have you seen this? The tickets are insane, but the parking, you know, it's hard to park out there. The official parking is all season ticket
Starting point is 00:08:41 holders. You have to have it. But let's say you don't get the official parking. The surrounding lots are charging Shannon. They're saying they're going to charge $300 to $1,000 just to park. And the thing is, if you go,
Starting point is 00:08:57 you have to do it. Because there's no it's not like you can just park farther away. It's all interstate. So it's either you park there or forget it. That's next level greed charging that amount for parking. I guess, you know, if you're halfway close, maybe you Uber to the game. But I don't think Ubers are going to be allowed to drop off because they, apparently the traffic in and out of there is as bad as it is anywhere in America.
Starting point is 00:09:22 So they don't allow Ubers to go in and out except in like three hours before the game or something. So what are you doing? Are you going to pay that amount? Are you going to sell your tickets? I mean, I think you just have to eat it if you want to go. I mean, or else walk down the interstate. I mean, I don't know what else. Get them out. Ride a bicycle. I don't know what you do. But it's like crazy. That's one of those things where it really is a monopoly that it feels like the government should say, look, there's – because it's not like you have another choice. You'd have to do it, Ryan, so I just – I think it's crazy.
Starting point is 00:09:57 I think for regular season, Dodger games, they're kind of famous where everybody shows up by the third inning, and then they leave about the six or seven. Well, that's another thing. So, like, tonight, the game starts at 8 o'clock Eastern, but that's 5 o'clock in L.A. So you're like in the midst of drive-time traffic when you're trying to get to the game. Like, you might as well just sleep there, Drew. I don't know what else you would do. I'd still go, Ryan.
Starting point is 00:10:22 You'll figure it out. I would like to go. No, that does sound like madness. Have you seen what a ticket costs? Because you already so invested. Do you just have one or do you have two? Just one. One ticket.
Starting point is 00:10:32 I was going to say if you had two, there might be somebody with a private jet who would say, get on and let's go. What hurts me the most, too. Last time the Cardinals were in the World Series, I had a ticket for game six. They won it in five games. So I still have never been to a World Series. Oh, I mean, most people haven't. I haven't either.
Starting point is 00:10:49 He is saying that, like, poor me. I've never been to a World Series. I want to go to a World Series. You've been to a Little League World Series, Bill. You've got kicked out. You can't go back there anymore. I will say I think it would be very as somebody who's been to a lot of Yankees games I think it would be awesome to go to a World Series game with the Yankees.
Starting point is 00:11:06 There's something about the World Series and the Yankees and the videos of the people in the stands cold and sitting there watching it and being in the Bronx I would love that is something I would next to the Reds going to a Yankees World Series game I think would be awesome. We might see Rick Petino out there. He was there at the last. He was on the front row. like right there. How did he get on the front row?
Starting point is 00:11:29 It was like a day after he left here, and there he was. Front row for the Yankees' playoff game against the Guardians. All right. Second thing, I promise people that we would quickly talk about the amendments because some people, I think, can actually vote this weekend, start tomorrow with your absentee or something in a few counties. So I researched Amendment 1 and 2 just to give people the information, right? All right.
Starting point is 00:11:54 Okay, so Amendment 1 basically says, that we would change the Kentucky Constitution. We would make an amendment to say that non-citizens cannot vote in Kentucky. Now, I mean, and then there's other parts of it, but people who've seen the amendment see that we use some language in the amendment that's ancient and that is kind of sad and that shouldn't be in there. I don't know why they don't just change that, too, to maybe take some of that out, but they're not.
Starting point is 00:12:25 That's old language. Really, the only part that would change is it would add a sentence that says non-citizens can't vote. To me, I mean, it doesn't really matter because I'm going to vote no just because I think what they're doing is kind of just trying to get you on the process of voting yes. But you already can't vote if you're a citizen. Like it's already, that's already the rule. That's the rule federally. Apparently, in some states, you can, if you're not a citizen vote on like school board, but can, Kentucky is not one of those states, so I guess this is confirming that that wouldn't happen in Kentucky, but whatever you decide to do there, I don't think matters a lot, right?
Starting point is 00:13:05 Whatever you want to do. So if it's already illegal that you can't vote if you're a citizen, why are we going through all this? The cynic would say they want you to get in the habit of voting yes so that you will vote yes on Amendment 2. The non-cynic would say, well, we want to make sure the legislature never allows non-citizens to vote in school board races. I don't know that that was going to happen. but that would be the cynic and the non-cynic view. So that's number one. Number two is, of course, the controversial one,
Starting point is 00:13:32 and it would allow, so right now, the Constitution of Kentucky does not allow the government to give money for students to go to private schools. This would allow the legislature to do that. It wouldn't immediately make it happen, but it would allow it. And then the legislature would draw up a bill, presumably, to decide,
Starting point is 00:13:56 how to do it. The people for it, I'm going to give the case for both of them. The people for it would say there are a lot of failing schools. This would allow competition, allow private schools to come in, and people's the money from the kid would follow to the school, and the theory would be if public schools have competition from private schools, everybody gets better. That's the theory. The people against it would say, you're just going to end up defunding schools, and the school, that struggle will struggle even more because they will now lose funding from the students that go. And they would say most of the people who want this are people who already have kids in private school anyway and just want to get some of their money back from their taxes.
Starting point is 00:14:41 That's what the people against it would say. My position for whatever people care. And you should still make your own decision. My position is there are some situations in America where I actually think there are situations where having some public money to private schools in the worst thing in the world, especially for minority students in areas that I've really struggled. The problem, though, is that's not what's going to happen. What will be happening is they'd apply it to the whole state, and if you live in a rural area
Starting point is 00:15:14 and you lost money from your students to go to private schools, you will kill, kill the public schools in rural areas. In cities, sometimes I actually think there are examples of where it's worked, like in New York, sometimes, Chicago a little bit, but in rural areas, it would kill you. And the legislature has put up bills that I think would decimate schools that already struggle to have resources. So for me, it's an easy no. And if you look, the money behind it, it's all money from groups that already have their kids in private school now.
Starting point is 00:15:50 So if you told me this is targeted just for the city of Louisville and just for the city of Lexington to a few areas that are underserved, I could be convinced. But statewide, for me, it's a definite no. So that's where I am on it. Yeah. You know, I close there. I grew up in the public school system. My dad was a public school administrator and both in a rural area. And I'm like you.
Starting point is 00:16:15 I've seen how a lot of rural schools are struggling financially. anyway, then you're going to take some money away from them even more. It's not a good idea. So that's just my view, but I didn't want people to know what they're voting on because you can start doing that. So that's Amendment 1 and 2. Those are the only two that I think are on this ballot. Who's up next?
Starting point is 00:16:34 Jordan. Jordan. Hey, Matt. Just a quick thing about football. I think one thing that's really, like, on my mind, is this week, especially, is just kind of like riding the ship in the next season. I think we're kind of locked in with Brock, so I'd really like to see him take off kind of like Levis did at the end of year one. Yeah, that's an interesting question.
Starting point is 00:17:02 Drew, do you think Brock is the quarterback here no matter what next year? Appreciate the call, sir. I mean, I think so. Barring some wild scenario where somebody good really wants to get here, he sees another opportunity. But I think the plan is – I think the plan was always he'd be a two-year-old. guy. What do you think, Ryan? Yeah, I think that's been the plan. If you come here to be a two-year guy. Are you comfortable with that? Do you think he's been good enough that that makes complete sense? I'm comfortable with it, but I really thought by this time
Starting point is 00:17:35 he would be a little farther along than he is. I think he's still struggling a little bit. The quarterback play hasn't been the greatest this year, so I'm a little disappointed. He's not to where I thought it would be going into the Auburn game here. The optimist thing for Brock would be to say this. Now that Brock's here and he's kind of locked in, you can use your NIL money and go get some offensive linemen during the offseason because you don't have to go worry about getting a quarterback, you got cutter after that. The negative would be, I don't know how many of these wide receivers going to be here next year, and so that's a whole other situation.
Starting point is 00:18:05 And then you have the running back position. You wonder what the skill positions are going to look like, Drew, next year for Brock, even if he returns, and even if the offensive line is better. Yeah, but even though Brock's been disappointing, I wanted to be farther along too. At some point, you just have to have some continuity and return some guys. That's true. So Hamden and Vandergriff coming back next year, that could be the first time in forever. We've had a quarterback and coordinator come back from the year before, and I think that really matters.
Starting point is 00:18:30 And a lot of quarterbacks who are great now started slow. You can make a big jump from year one to year two. Now, Brock's a little older because he was on the bench. Beginning a full season under his belt and the full summer with the same people around him as far as coaching. I think he can make a leap next year, but there's no doubt it's been disappointing so far. You can experience your healthy happy hour with cornbread's new blueberry breeze product. Shannon's been on vacation. He came back smelling like blueberries.

Welcome to my new podcast, Learn the Hardway with me, your host, and your favorite therapist, Kear Games. And in recognition of mental health awareness month, I'm bringing over a decade of my own experience in the mental health field and conversations with so many incredible guests. I'm talking. Trip Fontaine, Ryan Clark.
Starting point is 00:20:17 Sometimes when we're in the pursuit of the thing, we get so wrapped up in the chase that we don't realize that we are in possession of the thing. And we're still chasing it. And we don't know when we've done enough. Because people scoreboard watch. Life becomes about wins and losses. Steve Burns, Dustin Ross, because you find it important to be a good person while you here on earth?
Starting point is 00:20:38 Are you a good person because you're afraid? Because that's two different intentions, bro. Absolutely. And that's two different levels of trust. I want you to just really be a good person. Join me, Kear Gaines, as we have real conversations about healing, growth, fatherhood, pressure, and purpose
Starting point is 00:20:54 on my new podcast, Learn the Hardway. Open your free iHeartRadio app. Search Learn the Hardway and listen now. What's up, fam? It's Isaiah Thomas. And I'm C.J. Toledano, and our podcast Point Game is about defying the odds. Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed.
Starting point is 00:21:11 And finding ways to win no matter what. He's the smartest player to ever play the game. His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before. And he knows. Without Luca and Austin Reeves, I got to manipulate the game. We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs. I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series because when they don't have Rudy in the lineup,
Starting point is 00:21:32 he has to really guard guys like Nas Reid. He has to guard Julius Randall. And then he has to give us everything he gives us on the night-to-night basis on offense. And when IT's friends stop by like Quentin Richardson, we dive into some playoff history too. Steve Nash will get that thing. That man, hell get to fly. He running up the court, licking his fingers
Starting point is 00:21:50 why he got the ball. Like, you go through a training camp with that Isaiah, you figure it out real quick. Get your ass up and down the court, and you're going to get the ball. So listen to Point Game on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey, everyone.
Starting point is 00:22:10 It's Ryder Strong and Will Ferdell from PodMeets World. And now the Pod Meets Twirled podcast. We're two men who were completely clueless to reality TV, who now have covered Dancing with the Stars, traitors, and we're gearing up for the season finale of Survivor. So yeah, now we're experts. I know we annoyed a lot of our listeners by our severe lack of survivor knowledge.
Starting point is 00:22:32 That is the point of the show. I'm just going to remind you. I have watched some Survivor. I obviously haven't watched enough. Did people not like it? Like, what was just because we? Yeah. We'll be recapping the big conclusion
Starting point is 00:22:45 in the 50th season, from the final attempts at gameplay, to the desperate pleas of finalists, to a bunch of ha, hoo, ha, hoo. Again, we are experts. So make sure to tune into PodMeets Twirled for all our Survivor 50 takes. Listen to PodMeets Twirled on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:23:05 What's up, guys? This is Clivert Taylor the 4th. And on my podcast, The Cliverts Show, I'm bringing you conversations about all kinds of stuff, like being an internet famous referee. We're in the middle of a game. This linebacker, this linebacker walks up to me, he goes, hey, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her. What? Time out.
Starting point is 00:23:25 Quarterback on office blue of 42. Hey, rep, my mama want you to wave at her. What? Where's she at? Hey, Miss Parker. Listen to the Clifford show on the Iheart radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast. Welcome back. It is Kentucky.
Starting point is 00:23:45 sports radio here live on KSR, 859-280-2287 here at 46 solutions. By the way, Draft Kings, when I gave the thing, took it off at plus 3,000. It's now back on, but it's plus 2,000, which means the people here listening to this show move the line 10 points. I don't know if that's good, but we still wanted it at plus 3,000. But that's a pretty sharp move for one statement on radio. For the people who say, oh, Matt, nobody listens to you all anymore. I guess they do because they just moved the line on Draft Kings quite a way.
Starting point is 00:24:22 Kentucky Sharp Radio, that's what we are now. We are the smart betters that move lines. I hope you got it. That's one thing to listen live instead of on podcast, Shannon. You can make sure you get it before the line moves. That's right. We don't move the needle. We are the needle.
Starting point is 00:24:33 We've heard that before, right? Who said that? Oh, you know. Somebody a long time ago. We don't talk about him anymore. By the way, you're going to watch the, do you have Hogs Plus to watch the... No, that's not a thing, is it? They can't call it that.
Starting point is 00:24:46 What are you talking about? This is not what Shannon watched on vacation. This was, this was an, this is the Arkansas insider, the Arkansas insider site is called Hogs Plus. I saw a great tweet. It said, so only fans is porn and Hogs Plus is for sports. That's exactly right. But on Hogs Plus tonight, Arkansas and Kansas, with Arkansas only having five healthy players. I got Frederick Dougas football night.
Starting point is 00:25:18 I'm not paying attention to that, but seriously, if it was going to be a real game, it would interest me a lot more if they were going to have a real scrimmage, you know? I would watch it if there was nothing else going on and it was on. Kenny Payne did a great preview. You know, you know what time it is? I might turn it on. I don't know what time it is. But it's only on Hogs Plus, so unless you have that, you can.
Starting point is 00:25:40 I'll check out Hogs Plus. Who's up next? Little John. Little John. How are you? I'm good. How you guys doing? Doing good. What's up? I was going to jump. I was going to jump on that bed until I saw all the odds going down.
Starting point is 00:25:53 I've seen some of the draft, some of the betting boards has Kentucky as low as 1,000 now to win the SEC. Yeah, not only did we move the line on draft case. I think we did it on all the sides, unfortunately. But you know what? Those have you got it in. With the end of the year, you'll thank me. But go ahead. Okay. My question was, what kind of game do you think Brock needs tomorrow to be, successful against Auburn to have Kentucky possibly winning. Do you think a certain amount of yards? I know a lot of the odds are around 174-175 over under.
Starting point is 00:26:26 I think he's going to have to be over for us to win just because we lost our two top running backs. I think maybe, Ryan, he may have to run the ball quite a bit, too. I mean, I think we're probably going to see both quarterbacks run. I mean, but if the number's 174, I kind of think if we're going to win, Ryan, it might have to be over. He's run the ball. he's a better runner than I thought he was going into the season, to be honest.
Starting point is 00:26:48 But like I said, as much as I want every pass go to Dane, he's had eight. I know you do. You talk about it. He had eight receptions. The whole team, the rest of the team had seven. I mean, he's got to find Barryall Brown. He's got Maclin has kind of been. Maclin's been the one that they just, Drew, they just haven't been able to get him involved.
Starting point is 00:27:06 And when you look at the numbers he put up at North Texas, you got to say, like, I'm sure he didn't come here thinking he was going to catch four balls on the year. It's got to be surprising that that hasn't worked. I even said before the season started, look out. He might leap Dane and Barron and be the team's leading receiver. Just that happened? Very wrong on that one. Add that to the list. The offense has been so disappointing this year.
Starting point is 00:27:28 I thought this was going to be one of their best groups. We didn't know what would happen with the coordinator. But as far as the roster, it looks so good on paper. And to have five touchdowns or whatever it is, and SEC is ridiculous. Let's talk about what happens if we win or lose. All right. So if we win and we're four and four, play Tennessee. next week.
Starting point is 00:27:45 I feel like the fans will still be engaged in that game, hoping we can pull off and upset there. And then, of course, you got a buy after that. If we lose, are the fans just like, all right, basketball time? I mean, what do you think? We've seen it. We know exactly that's what's going to happen, especially after what the basketball team just showed is Tuesday night.
Starting point is 00:28:07 There is Wednesday night. There's absolutely no doubt in my mind. If they stink it up and they lose another home game, our fan base will check out and go straight to basketball. Coming off of a 71 point win, granted, it's an exhibition game, but the excitement of the basketball side of things versus where we are with football, I think football fans, football fans will check out and immediately turn their attention to basketball. I'll go so far, Drew, is to say, I think the loser of this game,
Starting point is 00:28:37 you are very unlikely to see that coach coaching the team the next year. I can see that. Also, Mississippi State hosts Arkansas, I think there's a six-pointed-a-dog. If they win that, the loser this game is dead last in the conference, and Kentucky is not going to win another SEC game. No, if you lose to Auburn, it's hard to think you're going to beat Tennessee and Texas. You're going to have one win in the SEC. You'll have lost all four at home, and in three of those you're an underdog.
Starting point is 00:29:03 I mean, three of those are our favorites. Yeah, I mean, that's a good way to put it, which is, if we were to lose this game, we're going to come in 15th in the SEC out of 16-day. 16th still on the table. This team is better than that. They beat Arkansas. They could be Arkansas. That's what's so frustrated.
Starting point is 00:29:21 This team, to me, is better than that. They're better than the 15th ranked team or the 16th team in the SEC. They have not played very well this year. Who's next? Aaron. Aaron. Go ahead, Aaron. You all just actually brought up something I was just actually about to talk about,
Starting point is 00:29:37 which was the fan base. And the deal with this football game, I don't want us to fall behind anymore. I don't think we fall behind talent-wise. Okay? I don't think we have. But we fell behind these teams because they beat us. And right now, I think our team needs our fan base.
Starting point is 00:29:56 I've been at those games and it's been brutal. And I really think we need to, our boys need us this game. Because this is a game, we cannot lose this game. We cannot fall behind anymore. This is on the way. We're on the way to disaster if we did not. I agree with you. I will say the fan base has come to every game.
Starting point is 00:30:15 I mean, the fan base has brought it all year. Fan base has brought it even through, you know, lightning strikes and poor performances. The fan base has brought it. I agree. We can do it one more time. But I will say, if we lose this one, I'll understand if the fans are like where I'm moving on to something else. I mean, I just will. And Kentucky also has the number 21 recruiting class for next year.
Starting point is 00:30:35 Like, they've got a good recruiting class. I'm not sure talent. Talent is not the issue. issue in years past. It is not the issue now. It's just performance. 859-2-80-2-87. We will take a break here at 46 Solutions. This is Kentucky Sports Radio. T.J. Smith, personal injury attorney. Call T.J. He'll make them pay. Welcome back to Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. Here's Matt Jones. Welcome back. It is Kentucky Sports Radio Friday. October 25th, 859-280 2287. A couple open lines. Arkansas, Kansas, tonight. By the way, not just on the Hogs Plus.
Starting point is 00:31:14 It is also on the SEC Network. So if you want to watch, that's actually a pretty good game me on the SEC Network. Arkansas, Kansas, 9 o'clock. Kentucky's game, Tuesday night against Minnesota State Mancato is on the computer at 7 o'clock. By the way, defending Division 2 national champion. I mean, this is like, honestly, it's the best team you could play in the country in an exhibition game unless you were to like do something like they're doing unless you're doing something because division well Arkansas cans is an example of like a you're playing a real game but if you were to play like most teams do a division two three NIA team Ryan is probably the best team you can play defending national champion with three or four of their
Starting point is 00:31:58 starters back yeah when myron was on with this summer and broke the story that his alma mater he told us he looked this is a better team you're going to play in maybe some of your non-conference games in November. This team can play. This is a really good division two basketball team. We're trying to do the whole segment. What? You're trying to do a whole foot. My wobbling a little. Yeah, I can't do that. I can't do that. I'm not, I'm not good at the state. I'm out. Yeah, so the thing is what? What do you say, Shannon, stand on your non-dominant foot? Yeah, see how long you can balance on your non-dominate foot, and that is supposed to reflect your age. Like your actual age or what your body feels like your age is? Biological age,
Starting point is 00:32:34 whatever that means. I guess how you. how your body responds. Yeah. Yeah, I don't like that. The Menendez brothers feels like something this is you would care about. The L.A. DA has announced that he is going, or he or she, not sure, whoever, is going to, they're going to re-sentence or potentially look at letting the Menendez brothers out after 30 years in jail. What do you think about that?
Starting point is 00:33:06 So, I mean, obviously people were going to say it's because of the Netflix series. Well, of course it is. But the attorney said it was going to happen anyway, just maybe it happened a couple of weeks earlier. What attorney? The DA? Yeah. The DA running for re-election in 10 days? It's going to happen anyway.
Starting point is 00:33:23 So wait a minute, that's even worse. So the DA running for reelection in 10 days says we were going to do it a couple weeks from now. Yeah, anyway. But now we're doing it 10 days before the election? Yeah. Oh, come on. You believe that? Come on.
Starting point is 00:33:37 No, of course it's because of the Netflix show. Like, when's the last time you thought of the Menendez brothers? Until, I mean, look, what's crazy to me is I was a little too young to follow it as it happened, but I do remember them. And I don't remember the sympathy for them that there is now. Like, in the moment, I don't think that existed. And the same stories were out then. I mean, it came out at the trial.
Starting point is 00:34:07 I don't remember. It's just interesting how people's views of things can change based on how things are presented to them. I mean, we see it in politics and the news all the time. But it's also true just in life that I just feel like the world's view of the Menendez brothers is now completely different than it was Shannon when the actual trial happened. I'm not saying they shouldn't be let out. I honestly don't know enough about it.
Starting point is 00:34:30 I've only finished two or three of the episodes. But it is interesting to me how that has. When you see it play out on your screen, it almost... But with actors. I don't know, like, if Glorify is the word, but it sort of paints the picture in a different life. But if you go on TikTok, like, all these people who weren't even alive during it, are celebrating the decision.
Starting point is 00:34:52 And, like, the only thing they know about it is the television show. So, like, I don't know. I just find it interesting, Ryan, that, like... And then for the person to get up there and go, well, it just coincidences. I mean, come on. Of course, it's because... the television show, right? You know, it was a big deal seeing it in real time in the 90s.
Starting point is 00:35:10 It was like, you know, the first trial we got to watch kind of live as it went along. But now the Netflix series, people, I mean, you forget, they did brutally murder their two parents. Yeah, I'm not making an argument about it because, you know, there's abuse out. There's a lot going into it. It's just interesting how it's just flipped so quickly. And then when they get out of jail, let's assume they do. Like, they're going to be celebrities. And like it's going to be really strange.
Starting point is 00:35:36 They're going to be on like a reality show or something, Drew. I mean, they will. Like that's going to happen. Yep, we're going to get keeping up with the Menendezes and they're going to be on our TV. That's just the society we live in. I've watched most of the Netflix show and I don't know enough to say side by side how it compares, but I've read a lot that says it took a lot of liberties with its storytelling. I did.
Starting point is 00:35:57 Yeah, I mean, it's a, you know, it's a television show. So I don't know. I mean, first of all, just my opinion, I think even for, we put people in jail for long periods of time and 30 years, long time to be in jail when you think about it. So, you know, I don't know whether they should be out or not, but I can tell you this. I bet the people, when you live through that, I don't think people thought they would see the day that these guys would be out and sort of celebrate it in some ways. I agree. Like it's happened. The other real winners in this series is Millie Vanilli.
Starting point is 00:36:31 because they're now popular again because of the Venetez brothers love of Millie Vanilli. What an amazing turn of events that everybody now loves that song in Millie Vanilli. That's crazy. All right, who's next? Brandon. Brandon. How are you Brandon? Hey, what's up, Matt?
Starting point is 00:36:49 What's going on? I live out in Michigan and I'm coming down to Lexington for tomorrow's game. And it's my birthday weekend. and I could be watching the Big Ten rivalry between Michigan and Michigan State, which is huge up here, but instead I'm coming down to Lexington following the Gators game last week. What do we have to do to step up? And I know DSK is out this weekend, so we're going to have to fill that. Well, I mean, we talked about Patterson Wilcox.
Starting point is 00:37:23 They'll play. What do you think, Ryan, are the keys to winning this game? Just as a practical matter, if you're Mark Stubson, you're in there, you're talking to him, what do we have to do? I heard Tom Leeds say this this morning. You can't turn the ball over. And that's why the reason Auburn has kind of been prone to turning the ball over. That's why they've lost a couple of their games.
Starting point is 00:37:40 They're turnover prone. Take care of the football. And when you get it down in close to the red zone inside the 30, you've got to punch it in. You've got to get a touchdown. We can't just walk away with field goals every time down there. They've got to find a way to get it in the end zone. It's interesting to think what if we had just been better in the red zone this year? If we had just been better in the red zone, we beat Georgia, we beat Vandy,
Starting point is 00:37:59 and then who knows how that plays into the Florida game if you had won those games. I mean, who knows? But we would have been, just that little simple thing, Drew and you're a much different team. Yeah. For tomorrow, they're going to have to get turnovers like Auburn does that bad. They're going to have, might even have to score. You know, just last week at Florida, Christian Story, gets an interception, six, three yards to five.
Starting point is 00:38:21 And we don't get in. But you're going to need a play like that against Auburn. And the offense, whether it be Wilcox, Patterson, Wimson, Van, They're going to have to run to set up the pass. Kentucky's not a team that can just drop back and pass all day. They're going to have to move the ball on the ground against a pretty stout defensive line, and then they're going to have to hit some shots down and field to score. I think it's going to be a low-scoring game regardless, but I think the defense is going to have to help out.
Starting point is 00:38:45 We'll see. I mean, the program needs this. I think Mark Stoops needs this. Fan base needs it. It is a massive game, and all I can say is we'll see. I hope it works out. I do. but I have a bad feeling about it tomorrow night.
Starting point is 00:39:02 I do. In the middle of August, when we're thinking what this team could be, I wouldn't have believed you if you said they'd lose to South Carolina, Vanderbilt, and potentially Auburn at home. All three of the home games you're supposed to win to do anything special. I couldn't wrap my brain around how that could happen. It could be right in front of us tomorrow. By the way, tomorrow, the games at 7.30.
Starting point is 00:39:21 Our pregame show will start at 3.30 at KS. Bar, open all day. kind of the last full day that we can have there at KS Bar until the Louisville game. So, I mean, we're talking over a month of without having home games with the last full game. So hopefully come out and see us tomorrow. We will be doing the show there 330 to 530. And then just for people on your scheduling, my trivia, I'm doing Wednesday the day before Thanksgiving. You're going to dress up for Thanksgiving, Shannon? Do you dress up for Thanksgiving?
Starting point is 00:39:52 I mean, I'm sorry. You're dressing like a turkey or a pilgrim. like a turkey for Thanksgiving. Halloween, I'm sorry. No, I don't think I'm going to dress up. Are you? Do you have a costume? I mean, I do. Of course you do. What is it, dude? We probably can't say. I hand out treats in my driveway dressed out. You do that every week. What are you doing for Halloween? Halloween. I've got like a really spooky mask that I wear and just scares the kids. It's awesome. I'm sure the parents love you.
Starting point is 00:40:20 You got your candy? You handed out candy now? You're going to sit on the porch and no, I turn the light off. You get a light off house. We used to boo that house. I turned the light off and say, hey, you all, I wish you the best as children and all that. Tell me about Stockton Mortgage. Steve Burns, Dustin Ross, because you find it important to be a good person while you hear on earth? Are you a good person because you're afraid? Because that's two different intentions, bro.

Without Luca and Austin Reeves, I got to manipulate the game. We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs.
Starting point is 00:43:23 I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series because when they don't have Rudy in the lineup, he has to really guard guys like Nas Reid. He has to guard Julius Randall. And then he has to give us everything he gives us on the night-to-night bases on offense. And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson,
Starting point is 00:43:39 we dive into some playoff history too. Steve Nass would get that thing. That man, hell get to flying. He running up the court, licking his fingers while he got the ball, like, you go through a training camp with that Isaiah, You figure it out real quick.
Starting point is 00:43:53 Oh, yeah. Get your ass up and down the court, and you're going to get the ball. You're still way ahead if you've bet us last week, not our best week.
Starting point is 00:46:27 It's okay. You still have to pick Moneyline team to win. That's seven points, favorite, or an underdog. I'm going to go first so you don't steal my pick. I'm taking Arkansas on the road. That was this big. Well, I already picked it yesterday on our draft team. I'm taking Arkansas on the road against Mississippi State.
Starting point is 00:46:46 All they got to do is win. Mississippi State's one and six. I think Arkansas is better than their record. They've played some close games and lost. I'm going to take Arkansas as the team to throw in there. What about you, Ryan? I'm going to take the undefeated Indiana Hoosiers, six-point favorite at home over Washington. You just cursed them.
Starting point is 00:47:04 There's the first loss of the year. Yeah, I like that one. So far, though, those are two big, heavy favorites. Our odds won't be great unless one of you kind of goes out on a limb. Drew, you're usually the lim-goard. I like an underdog if you all want to get crazy. I already hit one underdog this year. You want another plus?
Starting point is 00:47:18 I want you to pick what you want. I won't do it. I'm going to bet against Neil Brown. Arizona hosting West Virginia. Unless you want BYU at Central Florida as an underdog, but I'm going to go Arizona. You're going to Arizona. So we've got Arizona. They've been slumping, though.
Starting point is 00:47:31 We've got Indiana, and we've got Arkansas. No, I'm going BYU. I'm feeling it. There are two and a half point underdog on the road. Fade this loves BYU. We love Mormons. BYU wins to stay undefeated in Central Florida. That'll change the odds drastically.
Starting point is 00:47:46 We need to make some money. I have a whole different of you on Mormon wives after watching that show. So we'll go. BYU, Arkansas, and who did you, Indiana. And what about you? You're going to email this, right, Mario. I and Shannon, who are you? This won't help our odds a lot, but we are going to win with this one.
Starting point is 00:48:02 I'm going to take Penn State on the road. They're a six and a half point favorite over Wisconsin. Penn State. We needed a dog. Those are big spreads. I got us. So Penn State, Indiana, Arkansas, and BYU. Yes.
Starting point is 00:48:14 It was spanning the globe there on that one, from one end of the country to the other. 859-280-2287. Who's up next? you are clear you gotta tell me Ian when we're clear you're not giving me a heads up all right 859
Starting point is 00:48:30 I do it when we came back no calls okay it's all right 859280 2027 I want to give you one quote Mark Pope said yesterday that I liked a lot he said quote we are deadly serious about winning
Starting point is 00:48:45 he basically said we are here to win every game and we are deadly serious about winning. I think about that as we head into November and December. Again, that wasn't always the philosophy about November and December games. Do you like the quote, we are deadly serious about winning every game? Yes, I want my coach to have that philosophy. I want them to win non-conference games at home and not lose in North Carolina, Wilmington or Evansville or something like that. I don't want to hear we're built for March. I want to win every single game. I want to be Kentucky
Starting point is 00:49:17 basketball. I think our fans feel that way too, Drew, so I do think if you're sitting there going, how do you appeal to the fan base? I'm not sure you can say something much better. I think it's pretty clear. Someone gave Pope some notes of what needs to be corrected from the past regime and making every game matter and the hunger to win every single game. That was very refreshing to hear. I can't wait for what he says when we get to Nashville for the SEC tournament because that's going to start mattering again. And you can just tell, by the way, they played against Wesleyan how serious they are in that first exhibition game. They played hard the entire game. It shows the culture he's built around how much they want to win.
Starting point is 00:49:49 And we're not being told, hey, be patient. You know, it's going to take time. I don't think we're going to, yeah, we have it. And I would understand that with a new coach and a completely new roster. I would understand that. But we're not hearing that from Pope. It is really amazing. We've talked about all the various massive changes in the culture of the program.
Starting point is 00:50:08 But even the culture of our lineup, this is the oldest lineup in the history of Kentucky basketball. We have never in the history of the school had an older starting lineup than the lineup we're putting out on the floor. This year, we're starting four grad students, not just four seniors, four grad students. I think because of that, Ryan, the sort of, well, you know, they're young, like they're coming out of the gate. They're going to get more cohesive as the year goes on.
Starting point is 00:50:36 But the guys kind of are who they are right now. I mean, Colin Chandler and the other freshmen are, well, they'll develop. But the rest of the guys, they kind of is who they is, right? I love some of the quotes to that came out even though it was an exhibition game. Kentucky Wesley, and these fifth-year seniors were talking about this was the funnest game I've ever been. This is the largest crowd I've ever played in front of. I can't believe how excited they were for us for play basketball in an exhibition game. It's like they're all young freshman again.
Starting point is 00:51:04 They're all kind of giving a rebirth again. For years, Kentucky was a step on their ladder to get somewhere else. I'm not saying they didn't appreciate it. It wasn't fun or they didn't win games. But for a lot of guys on UK's team, this is like the top of the ladder. This is their NBA. A lot of them won't play in the NBA, so this is. the big leagues for them and we're going to see how much it means so and how hard they go.
Starting point is 00:51:22 I think the appreciation that the players have for being here is a really cool thing. I'm with you. I always think that people in the past who sort of said, oh, those guys don't care. They cared. They cared. Just go look at that video of Fox and Bam crying after they lost to North Carolina. Speaking of that, the video of Fox and Monk, I don't know, I posted it last night. But Sacramento was doing this thing where Fox and Monk were all their players for
Starting point is 00:51:49 all the teams would be signed in jerseys, and then they would slip in a jersey that had their rival team like on the front of it. And so they went through all these guys, and there was like six or seven of them, but Fox and Monk were in it. They show Fox, and they slip in North Carolina. And he was like, I ain't signing this. And the other guy goes, well, you know, I bet on North Carolina in that game. And Fox goes, where are those dudes now?
Starting point is 00:52:15 I love that one. Love that one. Which I thought was a really good answer. But then Monk, if you had any worries about Monk because he went to that, said something nice about Arkansas and all that, Monk's going through there, and then they put Louisville in there, and Monk goes, Aintziding this, throws it, and then they look at him and go out of it, and he goes, blank Louisville. Now that's our guy right there, Drew. And he adds, I went to Kentucky.
Starting point is 00:52:42 I went to Kentucky, Blank Louisville. I love that. Both of those guys. I mean, I had no doubt that they're still blue, but just the way they did it. I love when Fox said, yeah, where are those guys now? Like, yeah, let's talk about that team. Shannon, the only thing we want of our players, or one thing we want, we want them to win. But we also want them to care about it as much as we do.
Starting point is 00:53:04 And I think almost all the Cal guys did, but it's still nice to see. Now Fox and Monks coach are gone, and they still feel that way. That's cool to see. is, and I think that it's going to be even more so with Mark Pope's teams, just because Pope is one of us. He knows what it means to put on that jersey, and I think he's going to instill that into his players that he brings him. We'll do this more specifically right before the season starts. But 31 games, where are you feeling after game one, where are you feeling the final amount of wins is going to be? I'm still on that 24 and 7, maybe 25 and 6.
Starting point is 00:53:44 Probably 24 and 7 is what I'll end up predicting. Yeah, I was like at 23 and 8, Drew. Now I'm more kind of like 24, 25. That game got me kind of amped up. I'm not going to lie to you. I'm trying not to over react. That was so fun. I've seen people put 40 and O all over Twitter.
Starting point is 00:53:59 They don't do that, yeah. That's crazy. But 38-2 is definitely a possibility. So I like that after seeing what I saw Tuesday. Thanks to you folks at 46 Solutions for having us. Great hosts. We appreciate it. Thanks to all them.
