Hey, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her. What?
Time out.
Quarterback on office blue 42.
A rep, my mama want you to wave at her.

You just understood.
That's how personal it got.
Wow.
Then after that game seven, Mark keep coming until he's like, you know, I love you, dog.
You know, it's all love.
This was just playoffs.
This was just basketball.
So listen to Point Game on the Iheart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Welcome, everyone.
It is the local Toyota Dealer's KSR postgame show.
The Cats get a big victory down on the planes in Auburn.
And not the most exciting game in the world, but in one that we won, 10 to 3, a huge win for Mark.
and a huge win for the Stoops era as the cats get their first SEC win in over a year and do it on
the road.
Only the fourth time in the history of the program that they have won an SEC game in the state of
Alabama, which is in and of itself an unbelievable statistic, but it happens tonight.
859-28027.
We're going to take your calls.
We talked about this post-game show could be historic.
one, and I think that got sort of staved off a little bit by what happened in the win tonight.
So we will talk all about it.
Right now also, I'm sure many of you have the World Series on because we probably are
watching the, if not the most exciting game seven, one of, maybe probably the most exciting
in my lifetime.
The only one that would be close to be 2001, but I don't think that one went into extra inning.
So I think you're talking about the most exciting, crazy plays.
and the Dodgers have the bases loaded.
We'll talk about it throughout the game.
But let's focus a little bit on the football game.
This was like a definitive kind of Mark Stoops win.
If you were to sort of drawups,
how does Mark Stoops want to win SEC games?
I think you could make an argument that like this is his dream game.
Win 10 to 3, right?
When where your defense completely envelopes the other team,
where they cannot move the ball,
where they barely get across midfield, and you just completely dominate them defensively,
and then you have one really good drive as you milk the clock and sort of play ball control,
and then you have one really good drive where you make some big plays and you score a touchdown,
that's what win in the game.
Because they did have one really good drive.
First drive in the second half was excellent on all cylinders for UK.
I mean, they threw, had a number of great plays by receivers, Kendrick Law.
Fred Ferrier gets his fifth and sixth catch of the year, and Kentucky gets the touchdown.
It ends up being enough to win.
Got to give a huge shout out to the Kentucky defense to Brad White for the game plan.
He drew it up perfectly, and the cats were excellent throughout the game.
I, you know, we can break down the various specific parts.
Cutter Bowley was not good, but I had a drive to be able to give us the win.
The defensive line was excellent.
They absolutely overwhelmed both of Auburn's quarterbacks.
It was clear Hugh Fries had no idea what to do.
I mean, he played, he started one guy, he brought in a backup,
and then Billy, he brought the starter back in.
You know, that's clearly a guy who has no idea.
He has no idea what to do with this, because he essentially played three quarterbacks,
and he had absolutely no idea where to go.
Brad White's blitzes and where they were coming from, they could not pick them up.
The quarterbacks were lost.
And then when big plays need to be made, they need to be made.
And I think it's worth noting that the most important play of the game is in some ways also a signature stoop's play.
They throw an interception.
They're running it back.
And Cameron Miller, a freshman wide receiver, causes and Kentucky recovers its first fumble of the year.
Come on, that's ridiculous.
But it's a hustle play where he does not quit, he gives effort, and he saves the play.
That's kind of a Mark Stoops signature.
So here's where I am on it.
I'm thrilled about the win.
Anybody that's not thrilled about the win, I don't like to tell people how to fan,
but if you cheer against Kentucky, then I think you're, if not a, maybe you're a fan,
but you're a selfish fan.
Everyone should be happy we want.
On a personal level, I'm very happy for Mark Stoops.
You saw that emotion after the game.
The fan base turning on him, which has happened.
You know it affects him.
You can tell, you can see it.
Like, he feels this emotion.
He is not somebody who sees criticism and goes middle fingers,
up. He's somebody who it goes internally and he feels it. And I sympathize for that, even though,
I mean, I don't feel sorry for him in the abstract because he has a ton of money and it's going to be
owed a lot of money no matter what. But still, on a personal level, I thought the emotion was great.
And that's why I like him. He wants this so bad. And I think a lot of the fan base feels that,
and that's why they want him to succeed so much. And I'm glad he got this moment. And as a practical matter,
I thought if they lost tonight, kind of his fate was sealed.
But now he lives to fight another day.
They get Florida next week at home.
I think it's crucial.
I think if he loses that game,
probably you end up with the same result as if he loses tonight,
which is it would be hard to bring him back.
But if you win, and then you beat Tennessee Tech,
and you're five and five with Vandy and Louisville,
I mean, you got a shot to make a bowl.
And there is no argument.
He will be brought back if they make a bowl.
They are not firing a coach at Kentucky and paying a $37 million buyout if he makes a bowl.
Now, we've talked about, Billy, maybe the worst result for the program is five and seven.
Then you don't know what to do.
Then you don't know what to do.
I mean, I know a lot of fans, most fans will probably want to change.
I think a lot of people around the administration will not want to change,
and you're going to have this like sort of, I don't know.
I don't know what happens in that scenario.
But I do know what happened, what would have happened if they lost tonight,
which was it would have been over.
And so it was a huge win.
And then when it's over, you saw Mitch Barnhart on the field.
You know, there's another person on that field,
which was one of our biggest donors was standing right behind them too.
I mean, they're the ones like this is all going to kind of come down to their decision making.
and it's a big game for Mark's future.
So there's another big one coming Saturday.
I don't think they can lose that game.
I think they're going to have to win.
And Florida's pretty good.
They played Georgia.
You know, they had a shot to win that game at the end of the game.
So, well, I say Florida's pretty good.
I don't know that they're good.
But Florida can beat you if you don't play well.
Florida will probably be favored.
So I am thrilled about the victory.
But it also causes a game Saturday that's like you're playing for your career,
at home.
We can't lose another home game, you know?
We can't.
We can't lose another SEC home game.
But it wouldn't have mattered at all if it wasn't for not to tonight.
And I think people really need to celebrate tonight.
It was an ugly game.
It was a boring game.
But it was a definitively Mark Stoop's kind of game.
It's the kind of game that he thought he could.
build a program to win games like this, and he got to give him credit for doing it.
And one thing I will say, I know it's easy to dismiss some of our fan base, and I've never
understood this, wants to dismiss our own wins, as if we're somehow Alabama.
We have only won a game in the state of Alabama four times in the history of our program
on the road.
Start with that.
Secondly, Auburn played Oklahoma, Missouri, and Texas A&M down to the final play.
or excuse me, there were one possession games, not final play, but one possession games.
So, I mean, they were not good tonight.
But you know what?
We had something to do with that.
So I think the program deserves credit.
If you're going to criticize, you have to praise.
And tonight is a night of praise.
859-280-2287.
The Blue Jays are now up.
Bottom of the 10th.
I mean, this is, who's going to win?
You got Yamamoto pitching,
who's, I mean, he'll be the MVP if he does not,
if he does not give up the winning run here.
Who you got, Billy?
I got a route for the Blue Jace,
even though that Dodgers catch where the guys collided into each other
was insane.
Insane.
And even the play before where they threw him out at home, barely.
I mean, the defensive plays in this series have been,
have been awesome.
And by the way, by the time people listen on podcast tomorrow,
they already know.
and we'll say if that sounds stupid as the Dodgers get the second out.
859-2-8-0-22-87.
We will take your calls and be right back.
Cats with a big road SEC win.
This is the local toy dealers, KSR, post-game show.
Welcome back.
It is the local toy dealers' KSR post-game show.
The baseball game goes to the 11th.
I didn't realize that the Yamamoto pitched last night.
So the dude that started last night is now in-in-relief.
That's great.
That never happens in baseball, does it?
When it's game seven, you just throw everything you got at it, right?
I know, but how many time?
I mean, he started last night, and now they bring you back.
That's crazy.
I don't, I feel like that never happens.
But then again, I guess it is game seven.
859-280-2287.
If you haven't seen the videos, you need to see of the two hockey games going on right now.
There's an Edmonton game in Edmonton, and then there's an L.A.
King's game in L.A.
and they have the video of in both games when it looked like Toronto 1 in the 9th,
the Edmonton crowd goes crazy and then realizes he's out at home, right?
And then in the Dodgers game, when he makes the catch to send it into extra innings, they go crazy.
You need to see those videos because the people on the ice don't know what's going on,
and they're like, why is everyone yelling?
Because they're watching their other games on their phones.
859-280-2287.
I guess let's just get started.
Who's up first?
Wild Bill.
Wild Bill.
How are you?
Hey, I'm good, Matt, Billy.
How are y'all doing?
Doing well.
Good.
I just wanted to say I finished off a vacation earlier this weekend, Destin, and drove up to
Red Roo-Fin in Opelaca, Alabama, and made my way into Auburn tonight.
And, man, as much crap of I've been talking about Stoops for a while now,
my friends and family.
I'll be honest, I wanted him gone, but like, man, this reel me back in.
This is like a quintessence.
Oh, you flipped.
Wait a minute.
You flipped.
I did.
I did.
Matt, I've had season tickets since I was a freshman in, and at UK in 2010.
My first game was like 02 and Lorenzen and they got in the fight with Middle Tennessee State
back in the day.
Like, it runs in my veins, man.
I want Stoops to win, but like he gave us every reason to want him to leave.
And tonight, tonight's a great example of why Stoops has done so well for us.
I agree with that.
I do agree with that.
Well, let me ask you a question.
You were at the game, so you're probably in part caught up in the emotion,
which, by the way, good on you for going to that game because I don't think we had,
we didn't have a ton of people there.
Am I right about that?
Yes, but I bought these tickets along with Louisville tickets back in the summer.
Well, still, so good on you for going.
But let's say they were.
were, let's say they were lose to Florida, Vandy and Louisville.
Would you still feel that way?
I mean, yeah, but it's like, you've talked about it off and on over the past few weeks
here.
It's like, we've got.
Home run, Will Smith.
Louisville guy.
Louisville guy.
Sorry.
Louisville's Will Smith just hit a home run, but go ahead.
We've got a pipe dream at six and six.
I'll admit that.
It's a pipe dream.
Yeah, we do.
But it's true.
It is there.
If that happens, it's like, what do all the students?
naysayers, and I'll be the first to bite the bullet.
Like, I have dogged him for weeks.
I've dogged him going back to 2018 when he had that moment in that little documentary of
give it to Benny, give it to Benny, give it to Benny.
Like, everybody wants to micro-analyze the offense, and I'm right there with him.
But at the same time, defense, running the football, turnovers, field position, wins football
games.
And we won an SEC game on the planes when the craziest stuff that could ever happen
kind of sort of happened there in the second half,
a little bliff of it.
But like, I just wanted to say like,
I understand, you're right.
Listen, first of all, I might to cut you off.
I appreciate the call.
Enjoy, I'm glad you went to the game.
Enjoy the drive back.
There are people already crying in the crowd, Billy.
That's not a good look.
Anyway, I get it.
I would be,
we all will have to salute him if he goes six and six.
You have to, because everybody,
including myself,
will have said there's no way, but we're still a ways away from that.
You've got to beat Florida, and then you're going to have to pull off a big upset.
I mean, Vanity and Louisville are top 15 teams, and you're going to have to go beat them on the road.
So let's, but if he does, they'll deserve, he'll deserve a huge level of, you know, praise.
But it's far from happening.
But they had to get this one, and they did.
So that is a, that's a huge, huge thing.
By the way, it would be Billy torture to be fans of one of these teams during a game like this.
I think that's why they're crying already.
Yeah, like especially Toronto.
I mean, the Dodgers won last year.
So while it's, you know, if they lost, they won last year.
For Toronto, if they lose this, this will be torture.
Having the ball gets stuck under the thing last night.
Yep.
The double play.
The fact that they ran into each other.
It was a half.
You know, they had a lead three nothing in this game.
It will be torture if you're a Toronto fan if you lose tonight.
Who's next?
Thomas.
Thomas.
Thomas.
Matt,
you've made the case for years that the Alabama and Georgia kind of place.
We would be an upper tier close to that but never get there.
But now seeing what Louisville and Vanderbilt has done,
are you changing or where we might be somewhere if we had a new thing?
Yeah, yeah.
Yeah.
But remember now, look what happened about.
I mean, Vandy lost.
today, right? They lost at home, or they lost to Texas today. I mean, I still think it's really,
really hard. But I think, yeah, Louisville does not, Louisville's not part of it to me because
they're in the ACC. I think teams in the ACC in Big 12, every single one of them have a chance
to do something special because the conference isn't great. But in the SEC, and to a lesser extent,
the Big Ten, because there are bad teams in the Big Ten, although there are great teams. There are
bad teams.
I did not think a team like Vandy or a team like Missouri could do what they can do.
So, yes, I do think Kentucky could win 10 games, nine games, whatever, and go to a
playoff.
Do I think they can do it regularly?
No.
But could they do it one time?
Sure.
Yes, I do believe it.
It's going to make a change of personnel to do that, though, right?
Because we've had the same thing for a long time.
Well, right.
I mean, maybe.
But I would, again, acknowledge.
knowledge, though, like, okay, I saw a stat from, let's go back to the year we
beat Penn State in the Citrus Bowl.
We might have been in the playoff that year if there had been a 12-team playoff, right?
So do I think it's likely that if you kept Mark Stoops, et cetera, you would go to the
playoff?
No, I don't.
But do I think it's impossible?
I mean, it's not impossible, but it's unlikely.
I think that's fair to say.
But Vanderbilt did pass us up.
They have.
But let me ask you what you say.
What if we beat Florida and we go down there and upset them in Nashville?
Then what do you say?
What if that scenario right there happens?
No, but you crack up, but I don't think that's, but I don't think that's, but yeah, exactly.
But that's what I'm saying.
Like, I don't think that's, I don't think it's likely.
I think it's unlikely.
But I don't think it's crazy.
that we could go down there and win.
It's not crazy.
No.
No.
And then what do you say?
I mean, what do we all say?
I'm going to hang in there and see.
Yeah, exactly.
That's what we have to do.
I appreciate the call.
What do we do in that scenario?
I mean, we would have to salute him, right?
But first, you got to be floor.
We got to enjoy this one and then be floored.
And then see if Yamamoto can become MVP and finish this inning.
What's next?
Tim.
Tim.
head, Tim. Hey, Matt, how's it going, bud? Doing good. Yeah, big win for the cats tonight.
Listen, I'm a Stoop fan. I won't deny that and always will be. Listen, you know, I've watched,
you know, the cat since 76, you know, Peach Bow on. And, you know, I'm just supporting Stoops.
There's a big win today. You know, I don't think it's out of the realm.
that we beat Florida Saturday coming up.
No.
You know, we do a good job with Vandy down there in Vandy,
so we'll see what happens and go from there.
What do you think?
I agree completely.
I was trying to think, and I appreciate the call,
what the spread would be.
You know, I have thought the last two spreads on the Kentucky games were just awful.
I mean, I thought Tennessee at seven-and-a-half was free money for Tennessee.
I couldn't believe it was that close.
And then I thought Auburn, it was 11 and a half at kick.
I don't understand that at all either.
I didn't think we were going to win, but I thought we'd be close.
So I don't know what they're going to do.
My guess is Florida will be like a three and a half point favorite.
That's just my guess.
But I don't know.
Vlad gets a double, Billy.
Maybe it's not over for your Blue Jays yet.
I don't want it to end.
This has been awesome.
Yeah, it has.
Who's next?
Squirrel.
Squirrel.
How are you, Squirrel?
I'm doing pretty good.
Hey, Matt, I'm sorry, but you're going to throw me in that selfish category, man.
I'm sad.
I'm mad.
I'm everything in between.
You're sad and mad that we won?
I'm sad that I feel this way, but I'm mad that we won, yes.
Yes, I am.
Okay.
Now, Squirrel, you've always been a good.
Kentucky fan. I mean, I've met you over the years. You get into the games. I mean, you are,
you're a very good fan. Yes, and that's why I'm sad. That's why I'm genuinely sad.
Why would you be, I can understand why you'd be disappointed yourself, but why would you be mad
that we won a game at Auburn for only the fourth time in the, in the history of the school?
Because it's like we're just kicking the 10 down the road. It's like, you know, are we?
But what if we beat Florida and then we beat Vandy?
That's why.
If I told you Squirrel before the season started, Kentucky goes six and six,
makes a bowl.
You would have probably said, I'll take it.
Correct.
I would.
Okay, so what if that happens?
Then I guess we keep him, but, I mean, I don't think there's any way that this is repaired.
I just don't.
I mean, yes.
Well, but isn't it repaired if it's repaired if they go six and six?
I mean, look, do I think it's likely?
Do I think it's likely?
No, but do I think there's a good, a decent chance?
We beat Florida next week.
And we go into the Vandy and Louisville game having to win one to go to a bowl.
Yes, I think that legitimately can happen.
I agree.
I just, you know, I just, I don't know.
I just, to be honest, I just kind of wish we just hurt the Band-Aid off
and you wish we lost.
I don't want to say I wish I do, yes.
All right, well, I appreciate the call.
That's harder for me to understand.
I mean, I'm not, yeah, I just, I could never root against my team.
I couldn't.
You know, if you were in the pros and it was like the end of the year
and you're going for the first pick or something, you know, I understand that.
But in, for college sports, especially football, we only play 12 games.
Like, I don't know, I can't root against the team.
I follow. I just can't. Who's next? Well, I was going to say stoop's being emotional after the
win was probably my favorite part of the whole season. I mean, it still means a lot for him to have
success because of all that he's accomplished here. I think you're exactly right. For me,
that that is the best part of the season. I think that, I think that's completely fair. Who's next? Tucker.
Tucker. What's up, Tucker? Hey, Matt, can hear me? Yes.
Hey, first time caller here. You know, I just kind of reflect.
on what one of my friends said, you know,
Stoops kind of makes you just,
for lack of better terms, just hate life,
but he kind of just brings you right back in.
You're like, I love this guy, I love this guy.
And it's funny how that works with this program.
Like, you know, you feel like, wow, like,
how are we going to lose this game?
And whenever Hugh Freeze had no idea what he was doing at halftime,
he talked about bringing in Jackson Arnold,
I thought, oh, my God, here comes Jackson Arnold's,
Heisman moment.
But what was weird is he didn't bring it.
If you were going to make the change, I feel like you would do it at halftime.
It was weird to me that he makes the change.
The guy brings in actually has a good drive.
They ended up not getting points out of it, but he has a good drive.
Then he takes him out and then brings the other guy, and then he brings him back.
It was clear he had no game plan at all.
That's what, I mean, he's going to be fired.
He was going to be fired no matter what if we lost.
But he should be fired just for how.
how he handled the quarterback situation the night that's how bad it was he brought you know he started
this guy and then he said oh we'll give him one drive he gave him he gave jackson on the what
two drives but he had a good drive but the guy the guy had a good drive that was like they're probably
the best drive of the game and then they took him out i didn't understand that yeah and it just goes to
show that few frees was scared out of his mind about what happens if i lose to contention
yes i think you're right i hate to say it
kind of shows where our program is at, but either way, I love that he won the game,
and I love how Brad White played and responded.
His whole defense responded to what happened last week.
Also, that Ty Bryant targeting review was so BS.
I hate that that was.
But at least they got the right decision.
If you would have got kicked out, I think I would have thrown my TV off on the
me.
Me too.
I totally agree with you.
Appreciate the call.
And the Dodgers get a double play, and they win the World Series.
Wow.
Or a Blue J fan.
I do feel bad for the ball.
Blue Jays fans, man.
That is, I mean...
Three one series lead, or three two.
Give up a home run to a dude,
Miguel Rojas.
I mean, look at, that's brutal.
And, you know,
wow, that's tough.
All right, we'll take a break.
859-280-2287.
We'll be right back.
This is the local toy dealers,
KSR post-game show.
Welcome back.
It is the local toy dealers,
KSR post-game show.
I put out a social media
like quick reaction to the game i think i'm going to start doing those billy from wherever i am
just like two minutes before that what is it it's a video of you recapping it yeah well just like a two
minute like for people who maybe don't get to turn on the show right hmm i don't i don't kind of like
i don't like that now oh you want me to save all thoughts for here yeah you want to like hoard
all thoughts yeah hard all right for the local to i'm not listening to you but i'm glad to get you
to get your opinion uh the guy who called the game is on the phone tom hard
with a special post-game show call-in from Auburn.
Tom, a nice surprise.
What did you think?
Well, to be fair, I'm calling it from Interstate 85 on my drive home.
But, yeah, man, I thought that was a vintage Mark Stub's performance.
I thought Brad White took advantage of a 17-year-old center,
and they just kept hammering them and made plays up the middle
and made plays with the defense,
with what was it, seven sacks.
And I thought it was really neat
the way Alyssa handled Mark Stoop's post-game.
He was obviously emotional.
Yes.
He knows what's at stake.
And I said this at the end of the game.
He's a fiercely proud man.
Yes.
And the last season and a half
has been incredibly disappointing.
I know for the fan base,
but it's been disappointing for him,
given what he's built.
And so, you know, you know me, Matt, like, I'm not a fan of programs.
I get to be fans of people and individuals.
And I was just, it worn my cockles to see him pulling.
I was the same way.
I think I think any person who's gotten to know Mark Stoops at all would feel exactly like you did.
I didn't rise the center with 17.
By the way, I could hear the disdain in Cole's voice for all.
all things Auburn offensive line all night.
As a former Auburn player and offensive lineman,
I could just hear him like trying to hold in how frustrated he was at them all night.
Well, I think the frustration specifically from Cole,
and if you look at it big picture,
like what Hugh Freeze was trying to do with his quarterback was the story of the game,
because it will probably cause Hugh Freeze's job.
Yes.
It doesn't matter who's back there if you can't protect them.
and they don't have time.
And, you know, credit Kentucky for attacking the weak point.
But golly, like, you're going to change quarterbacks three times in one game?
Yeah, that was ridiculous.
I didn't understand that at all.
Well, let me ask you this.
Mark Stoops, you know him a little bit.
You were around them.
Where do you, I mean, I assume they thought they could come in and win.
How do you think they feel like they can finish this year?
I mean, there is a path to him going to a bowl.
Of course there is.
Yeah.
My biggest concern overall is it Cudder Bowley's accuracy took a step back.
You probably saw the look on Bush-Handon's face with like 220 to go.
Instead of running it, they took a shot.
And it was a very poorly thrown ball.
It was.
I didn't mind the call.
I didn't mind the call.
It was a bad ball.
not sure that they should have thrown the play they did,
but I didn't mind throwing it right there.
Trying to finish the game.
It would have sealed the game,
stoops on the headset right after that.
There's a shot of him going,
what are we doing?
He wanted to run it up the middle.
He wanted to run it up the middle.
That's what he wanted to do, I'm sure.
Well, and if you run up the middle,
you force them to take another time out.
You do.
But my view is you can't have it both ways,
because we've all been complaining about the fact they ran it up the middle four straight times against Texas.
You know, at some point, I don't know.
I mean, like, I guess Stoop just wants to run up the middle all the time,
but I actually didn't mind.
I just wish it had been a better play.
Yeah, and it goes back.
Like, Cudder had some throws tonight where, granted, they lit him up a few times,
and he was rushed a lot.
But there were a few throws that just came out of his hand weird.
Like even some of the completions were floated and came out of his hand weird.
So anyway, to answer your question,
Cutter had made incredible progress,
and the game plan had allowed him to over the last since the off week, right?
Yes.
Especially.
He's got to be more efficient for this season to end on a high note.
However you define that.
And, you know, you're going to have to do it against Florida to start.
And you are here next week.
Right. Aren't you here next week again?
It's our time slot. I would guess we are there. I don't have the assignment yet, but yeah, I would expect it for there.
And I think you made the point on the show yesterday.
You made a great point when one of the callers like, well, Auburn stinks and Florida stinks.
You can't pick and choose when you value those wins.
I agree.
Completely.
Yeah, they all count the same in the conference standings.
And so I just think everything, I shouldn't say everything's still in front of them because
obviously they struggle.
But wow, you know, you do have opportunities and this has to make you feel good that you
go on the road.
Auburn is never an easy place to play at.
So I give them a lot of credit for getting it done.
Yeah, I do too.
Tom, it's always great.
And whenever your next UK basketball game is, I'm looking forward.
to what you work in.
I catch them.
They're harder.
You're more subtle about it now.
It makes it much harder, but when we get it, I appreciate it.
I did my best tonight.
It's harder in the closer games.
Yeah, I couldn't tell which one.
What did you do tonight?
I was listening.
I didn't get one.
It was, now you put me on the spot.
It was early and it was very vague.
Okay.
But I snuck one in like the late first quarter.
I'd have to have to give a support.
Somebody sent me one.
I'll have to look and see what it was, but I didn't.
I actually had it on mute at the start of the first quarter, so maybe I missed it.
Well, it wasn't because of you.
Thank you for not listening.
I was watching the Breeders Cup.
I was trying to make money.
Tom, appreciate it.
Be safe getting home, all right?
All right, buddy.
Thanks.
All right.
See you.
859-280-2287.
Who's next, Billy?
Corey.
Corey.
Go ahead, Corey.
Hey, Matt.
I'm just, I'm more or less just curious,
is how you, more or less like what you thought about Steve's comments at the end
when he had his interview there on the field.
It was like, it was kind of, you know, I was, it made me really happy for him.
I'm glad he got that moment.
I don't know what the next few weeks are going to be like.
I don't know what it's going to feel like.
But he deserved to have that moment.
He's given a lot to this place.
It has to be harder.
Is he still there, the caller?
Yeah.
Yeah.
It has to be hard.
It has to be hard when you, and I'm not saying fan reaction.
I mean, some fan reaction is over the top.
But, you know, we did that little poll in, what, 97% of the fans and they wanted to change?
And I don't think those people are unreasonable.
But it does have to be hard if you're the coach.
And you so want this to work.
And you want this fan base to love you because Mark Stoops genuinely wants to be loved.
He is not someone who is confrontation.
like he wants to be embraced and it has to be hard if this group of people you want to embrace you
are saying they want you to go that just has to be hard so just on a human level watching him be happy
makes me happy you know this is serious business on the one hand and like if he's not the guy
you might have to make a change but if you're a human being you want other human beings to have
happy moments and so it really did like I it it it
made me happy to see a guy have that kind of emotion because I'm sure it was a great feeling.
Caller's gone.
I hope that's articulated that correctly.
But there's just a human being part of it that, you know, I like to see people.
Like Hugh Freeze seems like a jerk.
Okay.
No, he does.
I don't know if he is.
Maybe he's not.
But you look at his history, he just seems like a jerk.
So when he gets booed off the field at the end, I don't feel bad for him.
Mark has faults, but he's not a jerk.
He's like a just, he's a human being that has a lot of strengths.
He's got some weaknesses.
And just overall, though, he wants to be loved.
And like, it's nice to see him get that for a night.
We'll see what happens next one.
Who's next?
Jerry.
Jerry, go ahead, Jerry.
Hey, Matt.
First off, I'll say congratulations to Stoops and the teams of the win.
I mean, I'm glad they finally had something.
to celebrate. But, you know, all along I felt like until nature got fired, I felt like the Auburn
game was the best chance for them to get a win. Because like you said, that Hugh Freeze is a jerk.
And I think he's alienated his team. And his team, it was dysfunctional. I mean, he'll be,
he'll be fired tomorrow. Yeah, he is. He's going to be fired. And he needs to be fired because it
wasn't just that they lost, although that would be bad enough. It was like, just the way they handled
the quarterbacks.
And they just, they were like, I don't know what happened there,
but it's clear they need a change.
Yeah, well, I suspect something like Brian Kelly,
once he gets fired, you're going to start hearing a lot of stories coming out
there about the way he's street, a lot of players.
And I could just tell some of those guys weren't playing hard.
But now Florida, I thought we were going to have a good chance.
Because I thought Florida would be a little dysfunctional because of the whole nature thing.
And man, they look good today.
And Florida's got a lot of talent.
They do, and we might lose, and we might lose.
But I would note that, like, a lot of these, I think one of the consistent themes of teams of
teams in the SEC that aren't really good is that one week you get one performance
and the next week you get a different one.
Right.
And so it's hard to know.
I mean, you know, you get Texas looks awful against us, and then they go beat Vandy, right?
Florida has looked horrendous, and then they play Georgia really well.
Tennessee has looked great, but then they lose it home to Oklahoma.
Like, you just, I don't, when you, these, when you're not very good, like, I think that the, the variety of how you play can change a lot.
And it was nice to see those fat, orangeless, orange toothless goobers lose Oklahoma tonight.
That was outstanding.
At home, at home, I appreciate the call.
That's a bad loss.
And they're eliminated now, I think, from the playoffs.
So, you know, you probably saw, and I appreciate the call, two of, you know, I don't consider Vandy a rival, but if you were to say,
Okay, in football, who are the teams that we have the biggest whatever with?
It's probably Tennessee, Vandy, and Louisville, and it's a good chance of two of them got
eliminated from the playoff today.
Vandy may still have an outside shot, but probably not.
I mean, Tennessee's out.
Vandy's probably out.
You know, Louisville's still in.
Indiana is in.
I can't believe how good Indiana is.
Not just that they win, but that they beat everybody by 40.
Blowing them out.
Yeah.
Like that, that's amazing to me.
I mean, I don't know.
That dude might be the best coach that's ever existed.
I mean, it's, you know, I thought last year was just a fluke.
They didn't really play anybody.
And they haven't played many people this year, but they won at Oregon.
So you can't, like, ignore that.
But the fact that they just town these teams, it's just really amazing.
I mean, they beat Illinois, what, like 63 to 15?
Then they won today, 55 to 10.
Like, it's crazy.
And he's in Indiana.
But he might be the best coach of all time.
Let's do one more, we'll take a final break.
Who's that?
Kelly.
Kelly, go ahead, Kelly.
I feel like I can be delusional again just for a moment.
Okay, go for it.
Because, like, look, the way that Stoop's wins games,
it may not be sustainable long term,
and he may still have to get fired.
But just for tonight, I can be a happy fan.
And to go back to something that you said just real quick,
you said something about you want Mark Stoops to have happy moments
or you prays it's something like that.
I want a human being who's given me as a fan so many happy moments
to have a happy moment in turn.
And tonight's another one of those happy moments.
We may not get a 17-year-old center that we can eviscerate every single game.
I didn't know he's 17, but that's a happy moment.
We may not be able to win a game only scoring 10 points, which, by the way, the last time we did that was when we were playing a wide receiver at quarterback.
But for tonight, I can have another happy moment, and I'm fine with that.
I'm fine with that.
We can address the future of soups later.
I was fully expecting for this to be a horrible game, and it wasn't.
So I'm fine.
and for tonight, I'm going to let myself be delusional.
I totally agree.
That's the way to be.
That would be my call of the night.
I agree with you.
I totally agree.
Why not?
I mean, at the end of the day, we're supposed to enjoy this.
And a lot of times with Kentucky football in all of our lives, it has not been enjoyable.
And in the last two years specifically, it's really not been enjoyable.
And you know what?
Like, this was enjoyable in the sense that we won.
We got a coach fired.
And we got a coach fired who, by all measures,
seems to be the worst.
So you know what?
He can go to his golf course.
Exactly.
You know, I mean, like, we know his history, and, like, he doesn't seem like he's a very
fun, like pleasant guy to begin with.
So he just got fired.
Kentucky got a coach fired and we won on the road and I'm with you.
Enjoy it.
I appreciate the call.
I enjoy it.
I was, you know, I wondered, I wondered would I have even a moment of like, well, if we
win, I wasn't.
I was pulling for him the whole game.
I was pumping my fist and, you know, I was pacing on my floor here just like anything else.
I'm going to be doing the same thing next week.
You know, you beat Auburn in Florida.
We can still have the discussion of what we need to do at the end of the year,
but I'm never not going to enjoy myself winning an SEC road game against the team in Alabama
because we haven't done it.
I mean, in my lifetime, I think we've done it once.
So, you know, I'm going to enjoy it.
Now it's twice.
859-2-80-20287.
By the way, tomorrow, if you're in Cincinnati,
I'm going to the Bengals Bears game,
and I'm doing, Billy, I'm going to bed as soon as this over,
getting up at 715 in the morning,
driving to Cincinnati.
Okay.
And doing Matt Myron from the Holy Grail tomorrow in Cincinnati.
So if you're going to the Bengals game tomorrow,
if you want to stop by the Holy Grail and say hello,
I'd love to say hi to you.
Sounds like a nice spot.
the holy grail yeah it's right across in the red stadium uh at least we get to fall back so i get
one more hour asleep that's true so uh six hours instead of well i hope six hours we'll take a break
be right back it's the local toy dealers ksr post game show welcome back it is the uh local toy dealers
ksr post game show 859 28028027 had a good day with the breeders cup today billy big hit for uh for uh for uh
Did the pick five come in after the pick five did not come in, but I had forever young was my
was my classic pick and I had everything built around it.
So that was a probably that was a huge score.
And then I did a pretty good on the rest of the day too.
It's probably my best Breeders Cup day ever.
Usually I love betting the Breeders Cup because you can get good horses at longer odds because there's so many good horses in the races.
Yeah, a lot of horses drop out.
So it wasn't quite the prices you normally get.
but I enjoy it.
I really like the Breeders Cup.
Derby's, I mean, Derby's my favorite,
but like Breed's Cup's really good.
I think it's an underrated sporting event.
And it's back here at Keenland again next year, isn't it?
I think.
It's coming back.
I don't know if it's next year.
Yeah, I'm going.
I've gone the last, I was the,
you remember the two years we had it.
We had American Farrow and we had flight line.
Arguably the two best horses of the last, what, 25 years
have been the two Breeders Cups here.
So maybe we'll have another good one next year.
859-280-2287.
Who's up next?
Richard.
Richard.
Go ahead, Richard.
Hey, hey, Billy.
I called in last week after the Tennessee loss and was really demoralized and said we should
have gotten rid of Stoops last year.
But I agree with Billy.
This was the highlight of my season.
I think that this should be about joy.
And when every other team departs from their, with their coach, like you always
saying it's going to be ugly, it's going to be messy, because a lot of those guys are not
really that nice. I mean, I would take Stoops over a lot of these people, just as human beings,
because Stoops is a very vulnerable person, he's a very open person, and not really a braggadocious
sort of kind of coach. And the world needs more of that, and the world needs to see that succeed,
and the world needs to see that be loved. And, I mean, my grandfather played on the 53 team
under Bear Bryant, and I have so...
much love in my heart for Kentucky football, even going back to the Joker years. I went to the
blue-white practice when we had Randall Cobb and he threw his glove up in the stands, and I still
have that in my room. But you ought to read Lord of the Rings, Matt. I know you're not a nerd.
No, I've read it. I've read it. I've read it. I haven't watched it. He is our Seedotid. He is our
King Seudon. He's our King Seudon. And I'm going to the game Saturday. That is our Helms Deep.
We are going there.
We're going to slaughter those gators, and then we're riding to the gates of Louisville door,
and we're going to slaughter those orcs, too.
I tell you.
First of all, I appreciate the call.
I like the emotion behind it.
I like the Lord of the Rings reference.
See, we don't get a lot.
This is why I like doing shows late at night.
It draws a different kind of person, Bill.
You get people comparing Mark Stoops to Lord, what's his name?
It's been so long since I've read.
I've never seen the movies, which is crazy.
I've got to be the only person in the world that's read the books and not.
seen the movies yeah you got to go watch the movies i read them books when i was like in high school
and i've never i've got to watch the movies i can't i sit down to watch it and i watch like the
first 30 minutes where they're having the party and then gandolph shows up and then i end up just
getting somewhere around when they walk off and they go into that thing and the horses come by
then i end up just like falling asleep and i never start again are you like shannon and hate like
star wars and harry no no i yeah well i mean i've never seen harry potter though either
I have seen Star Wars, although I don't think I've seen them all.
I saw Star Wars Return the Jedi Empire Strikes Back.
I saw one or two of the prequels.
I don't think I've seen any of the, what is it, postquels?
7, 8, 9.
You don't have to watch those.
I saw 4, 5, 6, and I guess I saw like 1, 2.
Haven't seen 3?
I don't think so.
Oh, no.
I remember I saw Jar Jar Jar.
I saw it.
I went to the theater with the Jar Jar Jar Jar Jar.
and all that and watched all that circus.
Yeah, I don't blame me.
Not watching the rest after that.
I went.
I wasn't there opening night, but I was there where people were dressed up and all that.
That was like, I was when I was in college.
So who's next?
Five more.
Christian.
Christian.
Christian.
Christian.
Hey, Matt.
First time, long time.
Who are?
What's up?
Just overall, just a really special night.
I, uh, sitting there watching the game.
I didn't have high expectations going in.
I don't really know how I, how I feel about Stub's
still being there, but I started
getting my hopes up. I started really getting into it.
And then we threw the interception.
And then we got the football.
It was beautiful thing.
That interception, I mean, like, that play
is such a huge play.
I mean,
oh, 1,000%.
Because if they, I'm not,
I'm not certain they would have scored because they really
weren't moving the ball either way.
But they would have at least probably gotten a
field goal. And then I do think it
changes kind of how the game gets
played and to do it on hustle, I think it's actually a fitting way for a Mark Stoves team to win,
honestly.
1,000 percent.
And then at that post-game interview like Billy was talking about, man, I didn't know
what to think, so I just started crying.
I mean, I just started crying.
I mean, yeah, I don't know what the future holds with him, but, I mean, he brought a majority
of my Kentucky football memories to me, and that was just another special one with, just with
where it's at. You know, sometimes I'm like, let's get rid of this guy. Other times I'm like,
let's, you know, let's ride it out. But yeah, just a really special moment. And, yeah, I mean,
my, I'm, I'm very optimistic now. So let's go seven and five. Well, let's go. I appreciate the call.
It's interesting to me, like, I'm glad we've done this postgame show because I kind of, it's
nice to hear some of this talk. I mean, obviously, it's helped by the fact we won. I don't
know if people would have been this positive otherwise, but it's nice to hear some of this. By the way,
one o'clock tomorrow Kentucky and Texas number two versus number three in women's volleyball.
We're going to be able to watch party at KS Bar.
I know the folks that are kind of maybe some of the people, family members are like,
there's going to be like a lot of people there, I hope, but there'll certainly be some people
there and should be fun.
So going out there.
But even if you don't, watch the game.
I mean, this is Kentucky's probably playing to lock in its ninth SEC title in a row
and a chance to host the tournament all the way to the Final Four.
I mean, so massive game tomorrow for Kentucky Volleyball.
Who's next?
Ken.
Ken.
Go ahead, Ken.
Hey, Matt.
Long time.
I was in first time caller.
Who are?
Love my cats.
Grew up.
Grew up with the cats, right?
Yep.
And am I happy with Stokes?
Is.
I understand.
I actually understand that answer, to be honest with you.
He's got the most bold victories.
He's got the most bold victories.
most wins.
And he's done more for this program than any other coach since Bear Bryant.
Yeah.
And we're wanting to run him out of rail because we're not winning.
Our fans are delusional.
We're not Alabama.
Yeah, I'm not.
Okay.
I went, now listen, I went with you up until right then.
Okay.
I think being happy-ish is good.
And I think your comments about since Bell Bear Bryant are good.
I don't think it's ridiculous for our fans not to want to go four and eight, four and eight.
Okay.
I don't think that's ridiculous.
No, I don't want to...
No.
But I think it's quick that we forget that, what, two, three years ago, we were seventh in the country.
We were, but that's a long time ago.
That's a long time ago.
Well, first of all, it wasn't two or three years ago.
It was four years ago.
But nevertheless, yeah, 22, which is four seasons ago, depending on how you count.
Three, four, what, but, you know, 22, 23, 24, 25.
regardless. It's not so much, though, about, like, you cannot build the future based on saying, well, he did it four years ago.
The question is, how does it look for the future? And I think it looks for the future a lot different if we finish six and six than if it does four and eight. But let's just say we finish four and out.
Then all of a sudden, you're back-to-back four and eight seasons, how do you at that point say it looks good for the future?
It's a tougher argument. I will continue that. So we still have a lot to see what happens.
because I can make either claim.
The harder claim is going to be if we finish five and seven.
I don't know what to say then, okay?
But if we finish six and six, then I'm going to be, you're going to hear me say,
if he wants to come back, we have to have him back.
If we finish four and eight, you're probably going to hear me say, we've got to make a change.
If you finish this five and seven, then I don't know what I'm going to say, to be honest with you.
And I don't think UK knows what it would do in that scenario, to be honest with you.
So go back in time.
When this schedule was released, what was your?
your overall expectations for this.
Well, no, I thought we were going to go four and eight.
I thought we were going to go four and eight because I thought we were going to be terrible.
And we're, you know, so we're on pace to go exactly what I thought.
I think I thought we would beat.
Who did I think we would beat?
Well, I can't remember who I picked.
Maybe it was Florida.
I think it was Florida.
But I picked us to go four and eight.
I said we would steal an SEC game.
I thought, you know, I thought the overrun, I think the overrunner was four and a half,
or, you know, I thought that seemed right.
But if we win six, to me it's a success.
Now, it's weird because we're used to Kentucky seasons.
If you remember where we would win all the games at the beginning and then lose them at the end,
we might have a weird year where because we played Georgia and South Carolina and Old
Miss so early, where we lose all the games at the beginning and win at the end.
So it's kind of strange.
with the parody that is now college football where you have teams like Indiana being number two.
You have Vainty.
We don't know if that's going to continue.
Yeah, we don't know if that's going to continue, though.
I mean, I think there's a chance it can, but I don't think that's certain because I think this is a period of time where programs are trying to figure out what works.
And then once they figure out what works, you're going to see a dominant group of programs rise to the top.
But it hasn't happened yet, which is why you've.
got this period where teams can make big moves.
I have on the other hand of getting rid of suits, I find it very tough that, you know,
we can't come up with $36 million with our fan base and the money that we, we shell out for
everything else.
We'll see.
We'll see.
Let's see what happens here in a few weeks.
I appreciate the call.
The other thing to remember is, you know, I will note that one of the things people want
is they want Billy kind of a salary cap, right, for the NIL.
But here's the thing that will happen with the salary cap.
Then I think you'll go back to where the tradition programs and all that start to matter more, right?
Because everybody's paying the same amount of money.
Because in theory, before NIL, even though people were sliding money under the table, everybody was paying the same amount of money, zero.
And what happened?
The same teams were good every year.
So I don't know.
I agree with Mark Pope.
It's a unique thing.
We don't know what's going to happen.
Let's do two more, and we'll call it tonight.
Who's next?
Let's go to Ford.
Ford, go ahead.
Hey, I haven't heard anybody give this guy flowers tonight.
Bring on the Steve's burger jokes, but Aidan Lerawes had a hell of the game.
He did.
He did.
I should have said that.
He had an awesome game, and he flipped field position.
And they have a good punter, Auburn, too.
And we, like that, you're exactly right.
He deserves a lot of credit.
Pinned him inside the 10, three times.
Five of them were within the 10.
and the one that was not within the 10 was a 57-yard bomb from our side of the field
that puts them on the 16th for that.
Deserves a lot of credit.
Exactly.
I'm glad you brought him out.
I thought I probably Cam Miller for the punchout on the interception.
I think he's the MVP of the game.
Anyway, he made them go a long way against our defense, which is playing really well.
So anyway.
Appreciate the call.
That's a good point.
Oh, wait a minute.
Go ahead.
Sorry.
I want to remind everybody, people are going to say, well,
oh we only scored 10 points
A&M only scored 16
I mean Auburn's a top 10 defense in the country
season's not over until the fat lady thing
now she might be warming up the vocal cords
but I mean we can be we want a we won an SEC game
let's be let's have a good time tonight
I mean come on. I agree with you
appreciate it's because she was walking on stage
before this game and now she has to go back
into her dressing room and let's see what happens
you know you're right that's a good defense
You know, Kentucky's offensive struggle, but we have played in Georgia, Texas, and Auburn.
We have played three of the best defenses in the country.
We have.
And, you know, I'm not going to act like we scored a lot.
We dominated against those defenses.
We've played really good defenses.
When we've played bad defenses, Tennessee, Old Miss, we've actually scored a lot of points.
I don't know what you call South Carolina.
I was in South Africa.
I didn't see that game.
Billy.
I'm acting like that game didn't happen.
Who's next?
I think it's Harts.
Hearts, we'll finish with you.
What do you got?
Hey, buddy.
First time, long time from the Dirty Borough.
What's up?
Hey, go kitty cats, man.
That was an awesome game.
Defense played great.
Insane.
I loved it.
I loved it.
I don't care about the stoop's crap, just whatever.
We just beat Auburn.
All right.
There you go.
I mean, I love it.
This is what it is.
Clayford's looking at me right now.
Sorry.
This is an awesome game.
Bring on Tennessee Tech.
We want tech.
That's all I got to say.
I appreciate the call.
There you go.
I think we said Dirtyboro.
He meant Owensboro.
We would never do that in Middlesboro.
We're still celebrating our victory over Sayer,
That's not a big victory.
Pennington still a coach over there?
Yeah, I mean, that's probably Middlesbrough's biggest victory since we won the state title back in, I don't know, 99.
I think that, or no, 0-1.
No, it was not, well, whatever.
It was the year after our graduate, 97, back since 97.
I think that's the biggest one.
You don't seem excited about it.
I'm not.
We just beat all those little preppy kids.
kids from Sayer on their private jets and their caviar.
Nobody cheated this game.
Well, I mean, they may have.
We didn't.
Yeah.
We won.
I'm glad.
Yeah, that's what happens when nobody cheats.
Yeah, that's exactly right.
I mean, listen, they're, uh, they're, watch out.
Who knows?
They could be playing in Kroger Field.
Hey, thank you all very much.
Uh, I'm going to go to bed and get ready to take off and head towards, uh, Cincinnati in the
morning for Bears bingles. Cats in Texas are at 1 o'clock tomorrow. Cover zero tomorrow night.
Still a lot of weekend to go. And next Saturday, Kentucky and Florida under the lights with a chance
to keep the momentum rolling. Kentucky wins on the planes. 10 to 3 against Auburn. We will see you
later. This has been the local Toyota dealers, KSR, postgame show.
Another podcast from some SNL late night comedy guy, not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smygel
and friends. Me and hilarious guests from Bob O'S,
to David Letterman help make you funnier.
This week, my guest, S&L's Mikey Day and head writer, Streeter Seidel,
help an a cappella band with their between songs banter.
Where does your group perform?
We do some retirement homes.
Those people are starving for banter.

That's where SportsSlice comes in.
I'm Timbo.
In every episode, we're cutting through the noise,
breaking down the biggest moments in sports
and giving you the real story behind the headline.
And we're going straight to the source,
the athletes themselves,

and the stuff nobody gets to hear.

What?
Quarterback on office blue 42.
