All right, good morning. It's morning, ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, grandpas and grandmas, aunts and uncles. This is the local Toyota's KSR postgame show. Ryan Lemon in for Matthew Harper Jones,
Starting point is 00:02:25 who is somewhere in South Africa. He has made it safely for those didn't hear on the pregame show. He did arrive. He texted Drew, so he's there, and he's doing well, and he'll be gone for a couple weeks, so we're going to fill in for him on KSR on the pregame show, and tonight on the postgame show, and tonight, you know, you call this game whatever you want, the feel-good game, the get-right game, whatever you want to call it, but basically it's the cutter-bowley coming-out party. The cutter-bole era is underway, and he is the quarterback.
Starting point is 00:02:58 He is the quarterback of the future, in my opinion, in my opinion, in my heart. Now, you may have heard Coach Stubb say something different after the game or his post-game comments with Tom Leach. We'll get to that in a little bit, but it couldn't have worked out any better for Cutter. You know, he gets his first start of the season against the lesser opponent at Kroger Field. You know, last year his first game was on the road at Florida and then on the road at Texas. And then he got to start against Louisville. This one, you get to start at Kroger Field in front of your home field against the lesser opponent. Kind of ease into the job that what I think is now his.
Starting point is 00:03:34 It is his job. And it couldn't have played out any better. First play of the game, tip pass, Rainer gets the interception. And so the cutter comes out on an extremely short field. Two plays, McGowan punches it in. Nerves are wiped away. He's out there, he already got the touchdown. Second possession, McGowan scores another touchdown.
Starting point is 00:03:54 So he's up 14 to nothing. So now Cutter can just relax and play football. And he did. made some really nice passes. The offense just seemed to move better. They see the offense seem to be in more rhythm. There was no confusion on play calling. There was no confusion on execution.
Starting point is 00:04:12 You know, I think they missed a couple, even missed a couple opportunities to put more points on the board. Took a touchdown off the board when they threw the touchdown pass to Boyer or the other tight end. Do you realize Cutter threw two touchdown passes to two tight ends? When in the hell has that ever happened at the University of Kentucky? We've been clamoring for my entire lifetime. Why don't they throw them more to the tight end? Why don't they get the tight end involved?
Starting point is 00:04:34 Well, Cutter's two favorite targets are tight ends. Willie Rodriguez and Josh Caddiss. Each of them caught a touchdown pass. Each of them made great catches throughout the game. And the Boyer kid, he had a tight end caught a touchdown pass that got called off the board on a holding or a legal procedure or something. They brought it back. So all those tight ends that have played here in years past, all those great tight ends,
Starting point is 00:04:57 the Jacob Tammies, the C.J. Conrad's. Last couple of you had, what, Ben Bates, Isaiah Cummings, Jordan Dingell, who's now playing at South Carolina. I saw him on South Carolina tonight. All these tight ends. Now you wish you were here, because Cutter's going to throw to you.
Starting point is 00:05:14 So Cutter's two main targets tonight, tight ends. Those are touchdown pass to both of them. But he kind of relaxed, settled in, got into a little rhythm. McCallon has proven to be an all-type SEC running back. dude, I do love what Zach Kalsata said about him. He runs that McGowan runs like he's mad at the ground. And he does.
Starting point is 00:05:34 He kind of runs like that. So he's going to provide a lot of highlights for us. Dowdell looks like he maybe got banged up a little bit, so he didn't play as much tonight. But we've got to see the Patterson kid. He came in and ran well there in the second half, got some touches finally, scored a touchdown as well. So like I said, you call it what you want, a feel good game,
Starting point is 00:05:53 a get-right game. But it's the cutter-bole era. it's underway, it's begun, and you've got to hand him over the keys now, I feel like. You know, Tom asked Mark Stoops on the postgame show about the quarterback situation, and Mark did not want to name Cutter the starter. He did not want to rule out Zach Kowzata coming back, but I think the writing's on the wall. I mean, you talk about a perfect scenario.
Starting point is 00:06:23 You come in for your first start against Eastern Michigan. Now you've got two weeks practicing, taking every snap with the ones, with the first string guys to get ready for South Carolina, a team that just got embarrassed tonight by Vanderbilt, 31 to 7, if you didn't see that score. Vanderbilt won at South Carolina, 31 to 7. And now you got two weeks to practice, prepare,
Starting point is 00:06:45 get all the reps with the ones, as the starting quarterback. Don't make it a quarterback controversy. I know they don't want to lose Kalsai. They want to keep him engaged. They want to keep him practicing hard by thinking that the competition is still up for grabs. But is that really fair than to Cutter? Why don't you name Cutter the starter so he can prepare knowing he's the guy?
Starting point is 00:07:09 Not looking over his shoulder thinking, well, if I mess up, Calzada is going to get the start. You've got to win games. You've got to play your best player. And if Calzada is not 100% healthy, he can be your backup. Tonight he was your third-string guy. That tells you how bad that shoulder was. Bow Allen was your backup quarterback.
Starting point is 00:07:27 Calzada was your emergency third-string quarterback. So, like I said, use these next two weeks to just shape cutter for what's a gotlet coming up at South Carolina, at Georgia. Then you've got what, Texas, Auburn, Florida. These five games in a row, they're going to be really tough on whoever the quarterback is. So that's my thoughts and opinion. Gus, do you have a similar opinion on whether they should just hand the keys over to cutter? I think you need to go with it. He certainly seemed like he had some moves out there.
Starting point is 00:07:59 He looked good. He looked the part. I know it's lesser competition, but my gosh, I think you got to go with what's hot, right? And somebody said one time, go with what's hot. Go with what's hot. And what's the worst? I don't want to say that. I guess I'm committed.
Starting point is 00:08:14 Now, what's the worst thing that could happen? But I guess you could get injured, but we certainly aren't going to hope that. But I just think he looked the part. He did. He just felt it. When you look there, he goes, you know, he knows what he's doing. out there. I think he sees things pretty well. He made right decisions and everything. I think he's, I think you've got to go with that. I agree, Gus.
Starting point is 00:08:33 He looked apart. The offense looked better. The offense looked like they had a little bit of an identity. Like I said, they were in rhythm. He's obviously got these receivers, Harley Gilmore, Josh Caddus, Willie Rodriguez. They're going to get the majority of the looks. I was wanting to put an all-point bulletin out for Jamari-McClin. I didn't even know if he was still on the team. He's supposed to be our number one receiver. He has been non-existent for the first three games. But he did catch a big pass for like 36 yards in the second half. That was his only target.
Starting point is 00:09:00 He's only catch. He's supposed to be our number one guy. Fred Ferrier did have a good catch. But the Hester kid, he didn't have a catch tonight. So I think Cutter's got his guys. He came in the same recruiting class with Harley Gilmore and Willie Rodriguez. And those three guys, they could be our future when he comes to the Kentucky passing game. All right.
Starting point is 00:09:20 We'll take our break. Come back. Load up the phone lines. If you're at the game, I need to know about the crowd. I need to know about the rain, and it would chase the fans away, especially the students that they got chased away. How long do they hang in when it started raining? So give us a call.
Starting point is 00:09:34 859-280-287. It's 859-280-cats. Gus Allen, man in the phones tonight, he'll get you on board. Give us a call. Kentucky, a winner. They're two-in-one. They've got a winning record. Think what you want about this program.
Starting point is 00:09:48 Think what you want about this coach. But they've got a winning record right now, and they're two and one, and there are a lot of teams in this country, are really good teams that have worse records than that. We'll be right back. This is the local total leaders' KSR Postgame Show. Welcome back. This is the local total leaders' KSR postgame show.
Starting point is 00:10:05 Ryan Lemon in for Matthew Harper Jones tonight. It's Kentucky a big winner. You know, the draft king spread, Gus, and I think kickoff was 26, maybe 26 and a half. So that last touchdown by Eastern Michigan could have made some fans, fans. very unhappy on their drive home. Yep, yep. If you got an order in the week, it was like 24, 24.5. But I think when we did our pregame show was like 26, 26 and a half,
Starting point is 00:10:31 and of course they win by 25. So maybe some disgruntled fans for that reason, Gus on the way home. Yeah, those that didn't win the Powerball, probably a little upset. Phone lines are packed, and I'm not going to get to them, but I've got to read a couple text messages I got. One of them says some T-shirt company in Lexington needs to come out with Cutter loose, baby.
Starting point is 00:10:54 Yeah, that's a big NIL opportunity right there for Cutter with that name. Somebody's got to come up with a Cutter Loose T-shirt or something. Diane, a friend of ours from the show, said the rain didn't amount to much. It was quick. Students mostly left after halftime, but the students were lively before they left. Music was also louder. Go cat. So that's good.
Starting point is 00:11:14 Students kind of hung at least until halftime, and the music was louder. But this is going to be my, so far, this is my best text that I've got so far. Ryan, it's official. The big dog was holding that tight-in room back. He's a little pup now, catch-by-90. Yeah, I mean, he was... The big dog was our tight-ins coach, and now when he leaves,
Starting point is 00:11:32 we're throwing to the tight-ins more than we throw into the receivers. Used to be, you know, everybody clamoring, why don't we throw to the tight-ins more? Well, now it's going to be like, why don't we throw to the wide receivers more? The tight-ins get all the looks, all the catches. All right, we've got a full bank of calls. Let's get to him, Gus.
Starting point is 00:11:48 Who's our first one? Steve. Steve, go ahead, Steve. Steve, are you there? Ryan, can you hear me? Yes, go ahead, Steve. Sorry, Ryan. I just wanted to say tonight, I'm out in Colorado.
Starting point is 00:12:07 It's not too late. I don't drink alcohol, so I'm not drunk. I watched that whole game, and cutter-bole put that ball exactly where it needed to be on pretty much every throw. For the next two weeks, I know we're going to have fans saying it was only Eastern Michigan. But no matter who the opponent is,
Starting point is 00:12:24 is there's only certain windows to put that ball and I didn't see receivers having to slow down and reach behind them to make catches cutter bowley put the ball where it need to be he looked great and I want to see him start even though Bart Stoops didn't commit to that tonight great point you have a good night great point appreciate the phone call you're right he made the right throws and put it in the right spot there was even one time he threw a deep ball to Harley Gilmore and to me it looked like Harley kind of gave up on it like kind of slowed down if he just kept running full speed. I think Cutter laid it right in there, which could have been a long touchdown pass.
Starting point is 00:12:59 So I think Steve's right. I mean, if you heard my opening monologue that regardless of what Coach Stu said on the postgame show, this is Cutter Bowie's team now. And you've got to give him the keys to the Cadillac. Maybe you go through some growing pains with the schedule they got this year. But at the same time, he could be your quarterback for the future and be a really, really good one as well. Who's next, Gus? How about Duane from Critton in Kentucky?
Starting point is 00:13:23 Dwayne from Critton in Kentucky. How are you, Dwayne? I'm doing great, watching the Reds blow another game away. Well, that's nothing surprising there, Dwayne. The Red stink. Ryan, I don't even want to hear of you about the Cardinals because they're worse than we are. The Cardinals are about to sweep the series with the Reds coming up, though, I think next week, this coming week. That's not going to happen.
Starting point is 00:13:52 That's fake news. What do you think about the game tonight? I mean, it's a W. That's all we want. Wins are wins. I would like the defense to play a little bit better. I would have liked for us to not give up as many points as we did, but we survived and we go on for another day.
Starting point is 00:14:18 Cutter Bowley, like you said, is our quarterback for the future. He got a whole game under his belt a day. He's going to have a week off next week to play with the ones. Yep. Two weeks. We'll go to South Carolina. Yep. And the South Carolina game's here, isn't it?
Starting point is 00:14:40 No, it's at South Carolina. I thought it was there the last time because that's when you got, that's when you got, that's when you got assaulted. Yeah. Yeah, that does South Carolina will? Maybe it is here. I mean, I thought it was at South Carolina at, Georgia the next two games. I appreciate DeWay.
Starting point is 00:15:03 Thanks with the phone call. Look it up here real quick and see what we got. We can find out. South Carolina. It's at South Carolina. I thought it was. I guess it's just a fluke in the schedule. Maybe they've got to go back down there again for it.
Starting point is 00:15:14 Dwayne did bring up a point, though, about the defense. Not their best effort. They definitely let Eastern Michigan kind of do some things that I surprised. I even predicted a potential shutout tonight. I thought the defense was so good. SEC caliber defense. They might shut Eastern Michigan out. But that's a good point by DeWain.
Starting point is 00:15:33 The defense definitely needs to play a little better than it did tonight. And I'm kind of surprised they gave up as much as they did to Eastern Michigan. Who's next, Gus? How about Matthew and Seabree? Matthew and Seabree. Go ahead, Matthew. How are y'all doing? Good. How are you, Matthew?
Starting point is 00:15:53 Good. I think the defense tonight, the defense, yeah, they didn't. looked too good, but I was watching the whole game, and, you know, Cutter Broly, he looked like he played good tonight. Appreciate the call, Matthew. Again, yeah, the defense didn't play very well. Cutter did. Cutter showed a lot of poise for a guy that was really just making his second career
Starting point is 00:16:18 start, first start of the season, throwing him out there. And like I said, I think the next two weeks you're working with the twos, let him go down regardless of what happens at South Carolina. You still, I think, want him to do. You can't keep going back and forth. That's why I wish they would just name him the starter and let the team know what's going on. Of course, they're going to know this week
Starting point is 00:16:41 when he gets all the number one reps. But I think it would be a little vote of confidence for Cutter maybe help him elevate his game. You just go ahead and name him, name him the starter. Don't have this. Well, we've got to check and see. We'll watch the tape and see that kind of stuff. Come on, man.
Starting point is 00:16:55 Just naming the starter. All right, Gus. Who's next? How about Carson from Belfrey? Carson from Belfrey. Go ahead, Carson. So I'm on my way back from the game now, and to be honest, it was a little refreshing to finally see some offense.
Starting point is 00:17:11 I thought Cutter looked pretty comfortable. To be honest, he looked more comfortable than our seventh-year starter to, you know, to start out the season. But you could tell the crowd really got behind Cutter instantly. I think he was able to settle in pretty easily because the defense set him up. But to be honest, overall, I'm pretty optimistic going into the South Carolina game. I think the bi-week will serve him pretty well. But I do think we might have the quarterback for the future.
Starting point is 00:17:47 Yeah. Listen, be careful, drive him back to Belfrey. Appreciate you calling in. I think these next two weeks are crucial for him. This past week, he had all the reps with the ones. Now he's got two whole weeks. Get ready for South Carolina. And I had the South Carolina game on and split screen with Kentucky game on the night.
Starting point is 00:18:04 South Carolina looked awful. Vanderbilt ran all over them. Vanderbilt did whatever they wanted to do. Now, of course, South Carolina's quarterback got hurt. If you haven't heard Lenora Sellers took a hit to the head. They called targeting on the Vanderbilt guy, and Sellers had to leave the game and did not come back. And that just kind of threw South Carolina into a tailspin.
Starting point is 00:18:27 not recover offensive they looked horrible so sellers is still out next week on two weeks absolutely that gives Kentucky a better advantage going down there it's a tough place to play and like the caller said only the last time i went down i got punched in the face and fractured my draw so jaw so i'm not going let's get another call gus who we got how about dj out in georgtown we'll take dj in georgtown then we'll take a break go ahead dj what's up guys y'all doing all right doing well how are you dj doing well can't complain i really enjoyed watching the game today. A lot of the colors kind of stole my thunder there, but I really thought Cutter looked really comfortable in the pocket. I mean, he wasn't, unlike Zach, you know, Zach would really
Starting point is 00:19:12 back up into that pocket, you know, kind of like Matt said a few weeks, about a week ago, you know, he kind of looked like Michael Vic or Lamar Jackson, you know, just running back in the pocket, you know, running back backwards in the back field. Cutter looked really comfortable, looked very confident in his stance in the pocket. And I just, you know, that's, I think that's where you, I think that's your deciding factor because, you know, he's, his, his potential, I mean, is your, is your, is your thing that you want to, is what you want to see. You're right. He's got a higher ceiling, I think, than Calzada at this point. So why not go with the guy who's got a higher ceiling that can get you there for the next couple years, your quarterback of the future?
Starting point is 00:19:54 Why not? Right. I agree with the 100%. All right, DJ. and thank you. Appreciate phone call, man. I want to read this text before we go to a break then, Gus.
Starting point is 00:20:05 Somebody texted in, and this is exactly what Yoga Girl said tonight to the game also. This is Cutter's team. Listen to him during post game. Natural leader. He exudes confidence. I think that goes a long way when you're a quarterback, a college football team. You've got to
Starting point is 00:20:21 have confidence. You've got to be a leader, and I think the Cutter kid, he's got it going on, so let's give him the keys. All right, we'll take our break, come back. Load up the phone lines again. 859-280-2-8-8-7. That's 859-2-80-Kats. This is the local total leader's KSR post-game show.
Starting point is 00:20:37 All right, welcome back. The local total leader's KSR post-game show. Ryan Lemon in for Mr. Matthew Harper-Jones tonight. Kentucky, a winner, 48 to 23 over eastern Michigan to improve the two-and-one on the season. The caller was talking about the South Carolina game in two weeks, being at South Carolina. Yeah, South Carolina was here last year.
Starting point is 00:20:59 game of the season and they embarrassed us. I had to look up the score was 31 to 6. They totally embarrassed us that game. It was awful. So it was two years ago when the game was in Columbia when I got punched in the face down there. And I don't want to go back. I forgot about that. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:21:15 Well, I haven't guessed. You haven't. You know, thank goodness. I didn't have to have any kind of wires put in my jaw or anything because that would have been awful. But, yeah, that was two years ago. So that's why the game is back down at South Carolina here in two weeks. 859-280-2287. We got another full bank of call, so let's get right to him, Gus.
Starting point is 00:21:36 Who we got? Zane and Lexington. Zane and Lexington. Go ahead, Zane. Hey, Ryan, how are you tonight? Good. How are you, Zane? Good.
Starting point is 00:21:46 Can't complain, man. We won. So I want to talk about the environment. The environment tonight for Eastern Michigan was great. like we we talk about environment all the time the environment tonight was great like you can't complain they everybody was loud on third downs like when we needed them on defense the crowd got up and they did their thing i just want i want you to expand on that i'll hang up and listen to you well i appreciate you saying that because it's hard to tell watching it through tv exactly how it was and we kind of thought
Starting point is 00:22:23 that going in that there's just a little more of an excitement and more of a buzz knowing that Cutter was going to start it was a night game and then it should be a big feel good get right type of win so it is good to hear from Zane
Starting point is 00:22:39 that the crowd was kind of into it Diane texted that the crowd and the students were into it and they may have left at halftime but it was a blowout game by then it was raining a little bit so I can't blame them but yeah this is also from the on the A vision glass tech machine the music was only coming from the speakers on one side of the stadium, one end zone.
Starting point is 00:22:57 Music was almost exclusively from the 1980s. Still too much dead air between scores and kickoffs. Well, Gus, I like music from the 1980s. I mean, that's what I prefer. John Cougar Mellencamp and what Prince and Bruce Springsteen and Michael Jackson and that, you know, all the good music, Gus, came from the 80s. It did, doggone it. That's right.
Starting point is 00:23:22 Who's next? We can take another phone call. from Hickory, Kentucky. Jake from Hickory. Go ahead, Jake. Yeah, I love the 80s, Ryan. That's an unforgettable decade. Amen.
Starting point is 00:23:33 When I was born in the 80s. Amen. Oh, you were born in the 80s. Well, I was in high school and college in the 80s. What do you got for us tonight? Hey, I'm feeling pretty good because South Carolina's got to play next week, and we don't have to play next week. I think that'll be good for us, Ryan.
Starting point is 00:23:55 Well, it couldn't hurt. I think they got to play next week. They, you know, we talked about their quarterback being out, so I mean, we give him another week to get ready for it. But they do, they play at Missouri next week, a Missouri team that looks good and is ranked in the top 25 right now. They have a chance to lose that game, too, we're going to think. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:24:15 What do you think? Especially if the seller's kids, not a quarterback, they could lose easily at Missouri, I would think, because they looked really bad tonight against Vanderbilt after he left. Oh, and 3. O-N-3 is a bad way to come with us coming in there. And then we hang another loss on them. That would be really good.
Starting point is 00:24:35 It will be good. Jake, we appreciate. Always good to hear from it when you calling on the show and KSR during the week, so keep calling. 859-2-802-287. That's the phone number if you want to call and get on board. So let's just keep it rolling, Gus. Who we got?
Starting point is 00:24:47 A-B from Harlan. A-B from Harlan. They're calling from all over Kentucky tonight. Go ahead, AB. Hey, what's going on? on ryan hey do man what's up what's going on and not all lot hey i just wanted to comment there on the cutter calzada situation there um i did see there on x formerly known as twitter um since they started allowing tablets and headsets in 2024 on the sidelines i did notice calzata was
Starting point is 00:25:15 kind of reading the tape there um with cutter and uh you know calzata threw for over 6 000 yards down at uh incarnate ward are they although they are fccccccc you know, he still knows ball. Sure. I feel like he's kind of taking Cutter under his wing and kind of, you know, looking at the tape with him, you know, letting him know. And I feel like that will elevate Cutter's game, you know, in the near future. So that's all I want to see.
Starting point is 00:25:39 I feel like, you know, Calzada still knows ball, even though he did play a couple years at the FCS, and I feel like that will elevate Cutter in the future. Thank you, A.B. I appreciate it. I'm glad you brought that up because the cameras did catch Cutter and Calzata talking at the end of the game. And you could tell Calzada was congratulating him and kind of dabbed him up a little bit. And it kind of shared a smile. And even Chase McDaniels, the commentator tonight said, Chase Daniels, said, you know, what great sportsmanship right there.
Starting point is 00:26:10 You know, Calzada being a good teammate is what he said. So Calzada can still be very valuable to this team as a mentor, as a coach. And Cutter is going to get hit. and we've seen quarterbacks get hurt in this league every single game. We saw sellers go down the night for South Carolina. It happens. Kauzada, it's not out of the question, could get another shot, and he's got to be ready for it.
Starting point is 00:26:34 And maybe I think that's why Stoops wants to make it seem like it's still a competition. So Kauzada still stays sharp and engaged with what's going on on the practice field because they know they're probably going to need him again at some point during the season. Who's next, Gus? How about Edward from Lexington? Edward from Lexington. Go ahead, Edward. Hey, Ryan.
Starting point is 00:26:56 How are you tonight? Good are you, Edward. Pretty good. I met you once back when they had arena football, and you were going to cover those games. And there was a game in Myrtle Beach. Yes. And it was during spring break, and I took my son down there,
Starting point is 00:27:16 and we saw that there was a game there, so we went to it, and we talked to it. We talked. to you after we left. Edward, let me tell you. Indoor football in Lexington, the horsemen, the Lexington Horseman, was awesome. They were so much fun. It was fun to go to the games.
Starting point is 00:27:32 I hate it that they don't do it anymore because that was a fun time. That era was a fun time when the horsemen were playing down at Rupp Arena. So nice to meet you. I remember that game down at Myrtle Beach as well. Tony Franklin was the coach that year, and he made the team do the walkthrough, the pregame walkthrough on the beach. we went to the beach it's the only time I've ever seen it in my life
Starting point is 00:27:56 that a football team did a pregame walkthrough on the beach so go ahead Edward what are you got for us tonight okay I've been going to my dad took me my first football game in Stahl Field I'm 74 years old when I was 5 so next year will be my 70th season
Starting point is 00:28:15 back when they hired Frank Kersey and I actually taught school and I talked school and I taught friends, kids, and I also coached basketball at Southern Middle and got to coach Guy Morris's daughters. And Joby Hall's son, it's just kind of crazy. But this is the first three home games I live off Tate's Creek Road. And even though I'm less than two miles from the stadium,
Starting point is 00:28:48 it usually takes us 45 minutes to get in there. We've gotten in there 10 minutes these first three games. Even the Ole Miss game, I thought, well, it would be more crowded, we'll leave a little earlier. It would. And there were a lot. As I walked around, I'm in the green lot close to BCT, old BCTC. As I walked around, there were frames, and then people didn't put up their tents. And there's guys that I know tailgated.
Starting point is 00:29:18 since the stadium was building 73, there weren't even there. And I'm thinking, what's going on? Yeah. We appreciate it, man. Thanks for the phone call. Appreciate the phone call. That is disappointing to hear because, you know, we hear that the crowd was better into the game,
Starting point is 00:29:35 but yet, you know, I don't doubt Edwards to what he's saying at all, that there was still traffic wasn't as bad. People had their spot and didn't tailgate. But I'm telling you what? They go down and beat South Carolina in two weeks. which if sellers doesn't play, I think it's got the chances just got a little greater with Cutter playing well and Sellers out. They go down in South Carolina and beat South Carolina, three and one. That'll just provide a little spark.
Starting point is 00:30:02 I don't care what happens to Georgia. The Texas game will be crazy packed because Texas is going to bring a lot of people and Keenland will be going on. The crowd, I'm hopeful, will rally, but they've got to beat South Carolina. They beat South Carolina. I think things can change a little bit. Let's get another call if we go to a break, Gus. who we got. Charlie.
Starting point is 00:30:20 Charlie, go ahead, Charlie. Oh, I'm sorry, Ford. Go to Ford. Go to Ford first. Ford. Ford. Ford's up first. Go ahead, Ford. Hey, good morning, Ryan.
Starting point is 00:30:30 Thanks for staying up with us. A couple nitpicky things. Eastern Michigan didn't get a very good pass rush on Cutter. He held the ball too long a couple times. He zeroed in on some guys. But those are fixable things. I don't understand how in the world Soops can look at this quarterback situation and not say Cutter's our guy.
Starting point is 00:30:52 I feel bad for Calzata because it's his last ride. I mean, he's a seventh year senior. He falls his way back to the SEC, and now he's going to get benched. But, I mean, goodness gracious, all you had to do was not think, frankly. This is Cutter's team now. We've got to ride with Cutter. I mean, the ceiling is just infinitely higher. And you're not getting any more football.
Starting point is 00:31:16 out of a seventh year senior and Cutter's a redshirt freshman and frankly the I think gutter is better than Calzada to begin with so Ford I agreed with everything you just said thank you for the phone call man I you're preaching to the choir I think he's he's proven that if we've seen what we're going to get from Calzada why not then just ride with Cutter to build for the future your guy your quarterback for the future and I think you saw tonight and even though it was just Eastern Michigan the offense looked better The decision making was better.
Starting point is 00:31:49 The execution was better. They just seemed to be, you know, I use the word rhythm a lot. They just seem to be more in rhythm, especially with the tight ends, Rodriguez, Caddus, and Harley Gilmore. They just seem to have got it going on. So I agree with what Ford said. He's got to just name him the quarterback and just ride with him and let us dream. Let us dream that he can lead us back to some quality wins and beat some big teams down the road because we've got a heck of a schedule coming up the rest of the season.
Starting point is 00:32:15 All right, we'll take our final break. Come back, take our final segment, load up the phone lines again. 859-2802-287. This is the local Twitter leader's KSR post-game show. All right, welcome back. Final segment here on the local total leader's KSR post-game shows. The Cats win at 4823 over eastern Michigan.
Starting point is 00:32:36 On the text machine, the Aviation Glass Tech Machine, somebody sent this in and I tried to look it up. What's the most points ever scored it by UK during the Stoops era? It looks like when they beat New York, Mexico State 62 to 42 in 2016 nine years ago I don't remember that game at all but my goodness that's a basketball score Gus 62 to 42 Kentucky went over New Mexico State which I bring it up because New Mexico State has now given us two players right yeah yeah that's right McCowan is from New Mexico State and Big Pete our big tackle I think they both came from New Mexico State so kind of I thought they scored 42 points, though. I know.
Starting point is 00:33:20 When I heard, I thought it's 62 to 14. 42? 62 to 42. That's a dagon football basketball score. I don't remember that one. Yeah, that is a basketball score. One more from the A Vision Glass Tech Machine says, doesn't Mark Stoops have a good record against South Carolina?
Starting point is 00:33:34 Well, from what I gather, it looks like he's eight and five overall against South Carolina, but he's won eight of the last 11. So, you know, they went on that roll where they won like six or seven in games. in a row so he does do very well against South Carolina I don't think there's a lot of love loss between him and Shane Beamer and if Lenora Sellers is out the South Carolina quarterback that changes my thoughts about that game going down to South Carolina and in now that you've got two weeks to get ready for him all right final set of calls we'll try to roll through these and get Gus out of there so he can
Starting point is 00:34:09 go home who we got Gus Charlie Charlie go ahead Charlie I'm on my way home from the game right now we had a good time but one day I saw was the replay officials, they didn't do their job right. I don't think. They played the replays when they didn't need to, and when we needed to see them, they didn't play the replays. Charlie, that's funny. Go ahead.
Starting point is 00:34:37 And maybe next time, soups can cover a spread. Amen, Charlie. Well, I bet you're one of those people that bet on Draft Kings when it was 26 points or 26 and a half points and they gave up that last touchdown. All right. And there's one more thing. All right. Check out Blitz the Bookie podcast.
Starting point is 00:34:56 It's my podcast. We post every Thursday. What's it called now? Blitz the Bookie. Blitz the Bookie, Charlie's podcast. All right. I'm going to look that up, and I'm going to give it a listen, all right, Charlie? Okay.
Starting point is 00:35:13 All right. We appreciate you calling. You had a great call tonight. Be careful going home. Yeah, I said that in the first segment Because I knew there'd be some people driving home tonight, Gus Not happy about that last late touchdown The Eastern Michigan guy
Starting point is 00:35:25 Because that did not mean Kentucky was going to cover the spread Yeah, yeah, I know some of the boy, they start young now Don't they on the old wagering side of things? How about that? He's got a Charlie who sounded like he was what, maybe 12 years old Yeah, got a podcast on gambling, Blitz the Bookie Laying down the Benjamin's there and everything How about that?
Starting point is 00:35:45 Charlie, goodness gracious. And he was not happy about the replay officials. Sometimes he said they played the replays when they weren't supposed to, and they didn't play the replays when they were supposed to. Charlie, that's the decision back in the truck. And that Kentucky has done that as long as I've been around. They don't want to show anything controversial or anything judgmental like that on the Jumbotron when it comes to replays.
Starting point is 00:36:06 They just won't do it. It's just their policy. They just won't do it. All right, who's next, Gus? How about Chuck in London? Chuck in London. Go ahead, Chuck. Hey, Ryan.
Starting point is 00:36:15 I'm going to talk about the atmosphere. Awesome. Okay, go ahead. Frankly, from week one, it hasn't proved, like, crazy. You know, they're back to playing grocery party. It's awesome. But I got to say the fans, you know, all the fans, the student section is almost completely empty after half-time. And I think that's just a huge part of the environment and the atmosphere,
Starting point is 00:36:40 and it's a huge part of Kentucky. And, you know, we need to quit leaving, before half time, after half time. We got to stay. In Ole Miss, they were leaving after half-time, and we were still in the game. We were only down seventh. Well, I appreciate Chuck.
Starting point is 00:36:59 Yeah, it's good to hear we've had a couple people, and you included, saying that the atmosphere was much better tonight. That makes me feel a lot better, because the big narrative after the first game against Toledo was the crowd was not good, the environment was not good, the music was not good, They didn't play Grove Street Well now you're like the third or fourth person
Starting point is 00:37:19 Said the atmosphere was good the music was good They did play Grove Street So it's good to hear all that As far as the students leading the halftime I mean Part of me is glad they stayed until halftime Because it was kind of starting to be a blowout It was starting to rain. It did rain a lot during the first half
Starting point is 00:37:36 And I figured they probably all go out of there And go to their parties But if it was a bigger game And Kentucky stays in it I believe the students would stick around I really do I think I've seen it before where if they're engaged because the game is close or is a good opponent,
Starting point is 00:37:51 like the Georgia game last year, when they had a chance to beat Georgia, they stayed. I'm trying to think. I think they stayed most of the game that game. I was there. It seems like they did. So let's hold out for some of these SEC games coming up. And if Kentucky stays in it, maybe the crowd will all stay there as well.
Starting point is 00:38:08 Who's next, Gus? Josh from Lexington. Josh, go ahead, Josh. Hey, Ryan. First of all, would I say that. atmosphere has gotten a lot better. Well, see, you're another one. You're like the fourth guy that has said that tonight,
Starting point is 00:38:22 so that makes me feel pretty good about it. Yeah, the Groh Street thing is what it is. It's fun. It is what it is. But we got to do something with the blue-white. The blue-white chair needs to be during timeouts, TV timeouts, why there's nothing going on. Get everybody into the game, you know, cheering before we get to start playing,
Starting point is 00:38:46 then everybody get loud. You know, it's just, it's kind of silly right at this point now. But I'm all for it. I love the chant. It's just, it's silly when we do it. Yeah. Josh, we appreciate it. Okay, well, let's talk about this blue-white chant a little bit.
Starting point is 00:39:02 Because one of my really, really good friends is the guy that came up with this idea to do it at the football game. Blue, white. They put the graphic up, blue, white. And Josh is right. It works. When they said it, when they were doing it during the first half tonight, it came through the TV broadcast loud and clear. You could tell the crowd was into it. They were doing blue, white, blue, white.
Starting point is 00:39:28 I totally agree. It's a great thing. They should continue to do it? The debate is should they do it during third down? I think that's the debate because you're saying half the crowd shouldn't scream during a big third down stop. When Kentucky's on defense during third down. so I don't know but I'm all for it I think my buddy's got a great idea
Starting point is 00:39:50 and it works at Krogerfield whether it works during third down or not I guess that's the debate people can have all right guess Gus who's next two more Seth Seth go ahead Seth this is his daughter Nevaia
Starting point is 00:40:06 me and my dad are on our way home from my first game that we actually won and this is my first time I'm calling him Can I get a hoo-ah? A hoo-ha! Yeah, absolutely. If the first game that you went to that they actually won,
Starting point is 00:40:21 that definitely deserves it. Yeah. Well, the question I had is, what do you think about Stoop's timeout on defense before that extra point was a 40-minute second before half? Yeah. Thanks, Nevaea. We appreciate to call that.
Starting point is 00:40:39 We've really not, I'm trying to keep it positive, so we've not talked about what happened again at the end of the first half. Again, I don't know why, and this will be something I'm sure we'll discuss on Monday on KSR. The middle eight for this Stoops coached era of UK football has to be so difficult. And especially the last couple minutes of the first half, this is not something new. And for it to happen, you know, it happened against Ole Miss, it was so bad. Most people were ready to fire the coach, which was a little ridiculous, but they were ready to fire the coach because what happened to
Starting point is 00:41:15 the end of the first half against the Ole Miss game. Tonight, they're up 28 to 6, and they gave up 10 points in the last two minutes, called that unnecessary timeout, and just seemed to once again be disorganized. You know, you're a stoop sale of time. We've got to clean that up. It wasn't clean. Again, I just don't understand why they're having so much problem there at the end of the first half. And then they come out with the ball to start the second half,
Starting point is 00:41:48 and they have to, they punt it away. I think they finally got a touchdown maybe on the second possession. But I don't know. I didn't know if anybody was going to bring that up, and we're going to save it until Monday. But once again, the end of the first half stunk. It's like Bobby Washington, when he's a head coach at Bryan Station Basketball one time,
Starting point is 00:42:12 I asked him about how the game went tonight. He said, stink, stank, stunk. That's what the first half was against tonight. All right, our final caller tonight, if it's a good one, Gus, who is it? Tyler. Tyler, go ahead, Tyler, make it a good one. I got to say it's an absolute privilege to be the last caller on the KSR post-game show tonight. Man, being the last caller, I got a lot of things I want to talk about, but I feel like I've got to end with a positive note.
Starting point is 00:42:37 Kill it. You've got to kill it. You're the last guy. You've got to kill it. I'm going to do my best. After watching Calzada at quarterback the last couple of games, I feel like Cutter Bowley, he's our guy. I really do.
Starting point is 00:42:51 I feel like he's our, I don't want to say he's our only shot at having a good season, but I feel like he is a key piece to having a good season. And I think if he doesn't start against South Carolina, we've got to really take a hard look in the mirror. But I think it's Cutter Bowley's job right now. And I think after tonight, we all know that. And I want him to, it's as simple as that. I want him to be the guy. And if he's not, I'm going to be mad.
Starting point is 00:43:26 But if he is, that's great. And I think we've Ryan died with him. Anyway, thanks, Ryan. Appreciate it, Tyler. Tyler, kind of say what I said to start to show. It's the cutter-bole era. The cutter-bole era began tonight. He is your quarterback.
Starting point is 00:43:41 He is the guy that you want to build around for the next couple years, including this season. We don't need no back and forth, start one guy, pull him, play another guy, make Cutter the guy. There's no disrespect to Calzada, but if he's hurt and apparently he's hurt, that the shoulder's not going to heal overnight. It could be a lingering thing all season. Name Cutter your quarterback. Let us get excited about Cutter being our quarterback. Let's build with Cutter as our quarterback.
Starting point is 00:44:13 That's what needs to be done. And hopefully they'll do that at some point in the next couple weeks. All right, that'll do it for the local total leaders KSR postgame show. Kentucky on winter tonight, 48 to 23. Sorry to all you guys on draft kings that had Kentucky at 26 or 26 and a half.
Starting point is 00:44:31 Don't blame. Don't blame me. And by the way, the KSR parlay, yeah, you can kind of blame me again on that, I think. I had Vanderbilt beating South Carolina. But Shannon the dude had SMU beating Virginia Tech, and that was a blowout. And that was the first loss. So that's what killed the KSR Parlay, not me picking South Carolina over Vanderbilt.
Starting point is 00:44:56 All right, everybody, have a good night. We'll see you on KSR Monday morning for Gus for Ryan. We'll see you.
