Welcome, everyone.
It is the local Toyota dealers KSR postgame show.
The Kentucky Wildcats win at home against Murray State tonight, 48 to 6 covering the spread by half a point in a very long, somewhat cold game.
but one that gets Kentucky a victory moves them to four and six on the year.
859-28027.
We will take your calls.
This is one of those, I will freely acknowledge,
kind of boring games with not a lot of storyline.
So this is one where I really want to hear from you all.
If you're not, you have a hard time getting into a postgame show.
This feels like the one to do it.
859-280-2287.
Also, while this show is going to be going on,
the Kentucky women are playing against the Louisville women at,
Memorial Coliseum, a packed house. It looks like an awesome, awesome environment down on campus.
Right now, Louisville leads Kentucky 15 to 14 in the first quarter, but it's been a good game
to start so far, and we will keep you up to date. So let's get going with the game today.
I don't know that there's a whole lot that you can take from today's game. I'll give you the
things that stood out to me. It was a sluggish game kind of all the way around.
I can't say Kentucky played badly, but I also can't say that they played necessarily well.
They scored 48.
Murray State's defense is pretty bad.
Most of the six points they gave up were actually kind of on turnover,
so I don't know that you can really fault the UK defense for that.
But it was nice.
You got to see some people play that we haven't seen play a lot.
I thought you saw a lot from the young receivers,
Hardly Gilmore, Anthony Brown Stevens.
I think that's a good sign for the game.
the future because there's a, I mean, you're almost certainly going to lose Dane Key. You might lose
Barry on Brown as well. So to see those guys contribute was nice. You know, I think a lot of the
conversation after is going to be about Brock, Vandagriff and Cutter Bowley. Brock was not great
in the first half. You know, we did, Kentucky did have 24 points at halftime, but I thought
he made some, obviously his first two throws were terrible, but even after that made some
poor throws. He also made some plays. Cutter in the second half thought looked good.
You know, nice to see him. We hadn't really got, we only saw him in that spot situation at
Florida. Thought he looked good. Now you do have to remember he's playing the second team defense
on the second to worst defense in all of division. What's the equivalent of division two? So I mean,
that's, you know, that's not the highest competition in the world. But I thought he looked good,
thought he made good decisions. He actually looked in some ways more comfortable in the pocket
than Brock looks. So I thought it was a really kind of a good debut. I'll call it a debut for him,
even though it wasn't technically his first game. Jamarian Wilcox, it was excellent. I think,
going forward, keeping him has to be a priority because I think he has all the makings of being
a really, really great running back. Offensive line still had issues. Gave up three sacks in the first
I think 17 minutes of the game against the team that was last in all of them,
in all of Division 1-A or whatever.
I guess we call it FBS now.
They were last in pressures on the quarterback,
and we gave up three sacks early.
That's not a good sign at all.
But got better as it went on.
I thought the quarterback had a lot more time as the game went on.
On defense, I mean, you know,
generally we're able to keep Murray State outside of the one drive in the third quarter,
which, Billy, I have to say, I've watched a lot of Kentucky football.
I'm not going to say it was the worst football game I've ever seen
because I was at the Kentucky, Indiana, three to zero game many years ago.
But that drive in the third quarter that Murray State had,
which I think was 18 plays, but there were nine flags on the drive.
That might have been my least favorite football drive in the history of the sport.
Was it five consecutive plays with a penalty?
Seven.
seven consecutive
penalties seven consecutive plays where they threw a flag
I think they picked one up on the on the sixth play
but seven consecutive plays where they threw a flag
I'm not sure that I've ever disliked anyone
more than I dislike the officials during that play
not because they were cheating just because it was like
can we just stop like you all realize this is over right
it was it was awful I mean it was awful
even the one they picked up they called
potentially grounding
and it wasn't even close to ground
The guy was not in the pocket.
He threw it 30 yards downfield.
And there was a guy there.
Like the three elements, Billy, he didn't complete any of them.
I'd say we didn't have the A crew, the officiating team.
I do not think.
We didn't have the A crew of the announcing either.
You know how many people they said on the court or on the field that the staff really likes him?
I think they said that about 17 people on the TV broadcast.
Oh, I missed that.
But with all that said, you know,
look, Kentucky just need to win this game, not get any more injuries.
I thought it was fine.
I mean, I thought it was a fine game.
Nothing to, I don't think for me, it's not anything that makes me any more worried,
but it's also not anything that makes me any happier.
Next week, they're going to go to Texas.
And, you know, my initial inclination is to completely write them off.
But that's what I did at Ole Miss, and they won.
That's what I did at Tennessee, and they were really competitive in that game.
so who knows.
And then, you know, you get Louisville in the final game,
which I think is, is, while it doesn't have an effect on making a bowl game,
I think it is kind of important for this fan base going into the offseason
what happens against the Cardinals.
You know, we've owned them.
And this year, I don't think beating Louisville will cure what hails the team this year.
I think a lot of fans kind of were over that after the win last.
last year, but I do think you lose that game, especially if you lose in a way that is
embarrassing. It could be, it could be pretty bad. 859-280-2287. Louisville leads by one point
right now on the Kentucky women's team. These officials are taking the view of, I think,
letting these teams physically assault each other. Do you have this game on? I do. I do. They are just
let there's going to be all-out trench warfare here in a minute. They don't call any foul. I mean, look at
that play, she's got thrown to the ground, no call.
But we will keep you up to date, take your calls.
I'd like to hear what you think.
Not even so much about this game.
You can call about the game if you want, but just the program, where we go from here.
And also, a little shout out to Kentucky fans.
By the end of the game, it was empty, but there were Billy more fans there than I thought
there'd be, to be quite honest with you.
I thought it was going to be dead empty.
When we first started the pregame show at the bar, it had all the makings of no one
was going to be there.
But then by the end of the show, the bar was full, and I think people ended up going to the stadium,
although they did, I think, go home before it was over for a lot of them.
859-280-2287.
We will take your calls.
Cats get a 48 to 6 win.
We'll talk about it next.
This is the local toy dealers, KSR post-game show.
Welcome back.
It is the local toy dealers, KSR post-game show.
Kentucky women struggling with turnovers.
Eight early to start the game.
They are still up.
or down three to Louisville. Florida takes the lead on LSU after LSU fumbles a kickoff return.
Florida leads LSU 20 to 13. No big upsets really, as of yet in college football today.
The big game, of course, tonight is Georgia and Tennessee. I will say to you, you know, a good sort of look at, hey,
how is this fan-based feeling right now would be the phone lines. We still have, we have a couple open and we're
just starting. That's not, first of all, it's not a great sign for Billy and I having to do
this show. This could be one of the shorter postgame shows of all time. But it's also, I think,
a statement of, I don't want to say apathy, but there may be a little apathy right now on
UK football. I think part of people being so excited about the basketball team, you know,
I think that may be part of it. So hopefully you'll, you'll join us. 859-280-2287. We do have some on,
so let's get started.
Who's up first, Billy?
Yeah, Jimmy's on first.
Jimmy, go ahead, Jimmy.
Hey, hey, guys.
Jimmy loves you guys.
Even Billy.
Even Billy.
Hey, that's that driving the third period there, Matt.
That was unbelievable.
You know, I've never seen that many flags since I drove by a Trump rally right before the election.
All right.
Jimmy, less comic relief, right?
Like, just like a regular conversation, you know?
Like, we don't need to be stand-up.
Is he gone?
He's still on.
You may have scared him.
Oh, he hung up.
Okay.
He got to him.
Yeah.
I mean, I felt, I was a little bit like, what is it, the guy on Seinfeld who would do, who did the stand-up that Jerry, what was his name, Botte.
All right, come on, what is the name?
Baca.
You know, he wanted to do, he wanted a suit.
What was, Billy, did you watch Seinfeld?
I've watched some, not all of them.
And I can't think of that guy.
He kept wanting to go to, he wanted a suit or was it dinner?
I don't remember.
He was on a few times.
Anyway, that guy was trying to be him.
Somebody's going to remind me of what his name, Bala or Banta, anyway.
My tip to remembering is as good as his joke.
Who's next?
Jason is next.
Jason, go ahead, Jason.
Hey, Matt, first time, long time.
Who are?
What's up?
Huge Kentucky fan.
Yeah, man, he was Kentucky fan.
My boys went there.
I was there in the 90s.
So I've seen the good, better best of Kentucky football.
I love the team.
I just am a little disappointed today because I wanted to see a lot more of the younger talent.
Like I thought they could have put Cutter in a heck of a lot earlier.
And also, like you look at the young talent like Rodriguez,
every time he's touched the ball this year, he's got positive yards.
He has, but he also makes, but he's just, he's really struggled blocking.
And you saw that, I don't know if you saw the one play where.
basically there were two guys he didn't block either one of them and they both sacked
they back sack cutter i think willie is without question the tight end they have that can make
the most plays but as i understand it blocking is a huge issue there and some of that was
showcased today in the second half when he was when he was playing quite a bit well see i thought he
rated out pretty well in tennessee maybe i've got misinformation no he may have he may have
I'm just telling you, if you want to know why we haven't seen him in huge amounts,
the block, almost always when it comes to tight ends or receivers,
if the question is, why didn't they play, you kind of have to look at their blocking.
Well, I appreciate you guys and go cats.
Yeah, appreciate the call.
I mean, Willie's going to be super 10.
You got to remember, too.
I mean, that's a true freshman.
So I'm not, I think he's going to be great.
But there was a play at sometime in the second half.
where they ran, it was almost like a little bootleg, and Cutter got sacked by two guys.
And when they showed the replay, Roderite, somebody missed their block.
Like somebody wasn't even there.
So Willie wasn't supposed to block them both.
But he ended up blocking either one of them.
And I think when you see that, that's the kind of thing that has kept him from getting minutes.
Although I did think he looked good today.
I wanted to see a little bit more of the younger guys.
But in the second half, Billy, there were people out there playing I had never seen before.
Right.
There were names.
Did you know, there were names that they were called.
that I didn't even know we're on the team,
including the guy who got the interception at the end.
Yeah, we didn't have him on the death chart on the broadcast.
You didn't have Schultz on the depth chart?
No, I think they had him.
There was a couple of guys that they did not have.
Yeah, Jackson Schultz, who I learned,
I learned his mother is a partner at the law firm that I used to work at.
Oh, really?
I didn't know he was on the team.
I do remember that his mother was at the law firm,
I did not know.
She had a son that was, I think when I was at the law firm,
he may have been like a little child.
And now he's getting the game-ending interception.
Kind of like the kid that works for you at KS. Bar now.
Yeah.
I think that's right.
I also saw one more thing about Jackson Schultz since he got it.
I saw it said that his, well, I want to find it because his bio on UK athletics kind of entertain me.
I'll do it after this next call.
Who's next?
Ed.
Ed, go ahead, Ed.
Hey, man, I got a comment and a question for you.
Comment is, I think Kentucky did what they were supposed to do today,
and they didn't struggle, and they won, which is, I just take it as a positive.
And then I was just wondering, do you know that back in the 1800s, like 1892,
that Kentucky went undefeated.
it and not only undefeated, but it wasn't a team that scored a single point on them,
and they went seven and old, and their nickname was the Immortals.
I did not know that.
In 1892, do you have who they played in 1892?
Because back then they would literally play like railroads and stuff like that in games.
Well, it was, I just looked it up, and I didn't write it.
the information now. But it was, I think one was like the Louisville Athletic Club and then there
was a couple of colleges mixed in. Okay. It was just, it was a seven, I like looking. I love looking
at the old, at the old, you know, football records back then because who they played was always
kind of funny. Like they would play a completely different type of team. Now, I'm looking this up,
and you said 1892.
This says we went two and four.
Okay, well, then I'm off on the ear.
I'm off on the year.
But the way I looked it up was did Kentucky ever go undefeated?
And it just popped right up.
Gotcha.
Did Kentucky ever go undefeated?
All right.
Well, I appreciate that.
Appreciate the call.
I would like to see if Kentucky ever went undefeated.
I'm sitting here looking.
Did you know the eastern Kentucky, Billy, in 1893, played football.
as central Kentucky University.
And they changed their name since then, I guess.
To be honest with you, though, it should be central.
Like, Richmond is a lot more central than it is Eastern.
Yeah, and Bulling Green's not in the western part of the state.
And Bowling Green's not in the western part.
It's like the, it only is like that if you think the state only goes from like London to Madisonville.
Kentucky State College went undefeated in 1898, according to Wikipedia.
They were 7 and 0.
Do you have who they played in 1890?
No, I do not have that.
I would like to know who we can see if we can find it.
Okay, so let me get the Jackson Schultz here thing because I would just, I do, I really enjoyed his bio.
Here's his bio.
This is the guy who made the ending interception.
He's played at Kentucky for four years, Billy.
But you didn't know that, did you?
No, was he a walk-on?
He was a walk-on.
He's a preferred walk-off.
Yeah.
His dream job is to own a business, so good luck with that.
And the person he most admires is his mom.
That's very nice.
I'm like that as well.
But the three words he uses to describe himself are funny, chill, and hyper.
I think that's funny because I don't know how, Billy, you can be both chill and hyper.
Those are opposites.
But maybe he was being funny in saying that he was chill and hyper.
Like he was being ironic.
Could that be what Jackson Schultz was doing?
He's trying to be ironic in the three words to describe me too?
In a three words, which would be really impressive if he was able to be honest.
Yeah.
So I just don't know how you can be chill and hyper, but he got a great.
That was a great interception he had at the end.
Who's up next?
Jake is next.
Jake, go ahead, Jake.
Jake.
Jake.
Okay.
It's all right.
Jake takes his time.
Adam.
Who's up next?
Adam.
Go ahead, Adam.
Hey, Matt.
You know, normally, Billy, I'd be.
But you know what?
We don't, we haven't had a ton of calls.
The beggars can't be choosers.
I'm going to give them time.
That's right.
Go ahead, Billy.
Adam.
Adam.
I wanted to call in.
Glad to know that we were still beating, you know, the Louisville Athletic Club back in 1892.
Yes, we were.
And Billy, sorry about our tops.
That was an embarrassing homecoming performance.
No kidding.
And you lost me money.
I had a five-team noon game parlay that all of it hit.
and then Western law.
So, yeah, I'm glad you brought that up.
I was pretty mad at Billy about that.
But go ahead.
Matt, I'm right there with you.
I had a 16 parlay.
Topps were the only one to lose.
Yeah, the tops.
That should have been a slam dunk right there.
Yeah.
Hey, I don't know if it's, I don't,
I really appreciate what Stoops has done.
Obviously, the winningest coach and the hockey football history.
But it's almost, it's just like it's stale with,
like the end of the tubby years.
You know, Tubby wasn't doing terrible,
but it's kind of like we expect more.
And really, he's the byproduct of his own success.
Like, he stoop set the bar high with his success.
So now he's not living up to his own success.
And it's just like, well, you know, where do we go from here?
I kind of agree with you on that.
I mean, there is, the staleness of the end of the tubby era is actually not a bad analogy.
Because I don't feel like Stoops is in the place that Cal was at the end of last year, where I think the majority of the fan base was ready for him to go.
I do think it's kind of like the tubby era where everyone liked tubby.
There was a loud vocal people, a group of people ready to make a change.
But most people didn't necessarily want that.
But they did feel like, you know, it's just we keep losing in the second.
round of the NCAA tournament as an eighth seed, and I just don't know if we can keep doing this.
I do wonder to some extent if this is a little bit like that, like you say with Tubby Smith.
Right, right.
It's not like we're trying to run stoops off, but it's more of, I think, the fan-based
questioning, like, what is the next step?
Where do we go next year?
Does it look more of the same, or, you know, is improvement on the horizon?
That's my worry.
My worry is only about, and I appreciate the call.
My worry is not like Stoops deserves.
If you're just looking at the word deserves,
Stoops deserves another year,
and Stoops deserves a chance to kind of write the ship.
I do believe that.
But there's a difference between deserves and is this going to get better?
And that's my concern with the Stoops thing.
My concern is not whether he deserves to be here.
It's does he have the motivation, the desire, and the plan
to take us into college football's new era.
College, you know, if you listen to the morning show, I say this all the time.
College football is entering a new era.
There's about one more year of sort of fluctuation,
and then the next year it enters the 2025-20206 school year.
College sports is going to enter the phase it will be in from now on.
And is Mark Stoops ready for that?
I think Mark Pope is ready for that.
is Mark Stoop's ready for that?
That's my question.
And it's really a question he has to ask himself
because I think he's certainly capable of doing it,
but is he ready to do it?
Because we're going to go from $0 of revenue sharing
to $18 million.
And we're going to go from, you know,
an era where people recruited and developed
to an era where you could end up with different players every year
and his stoop's ready for that, and that's only he knows the answer to that question.
Who's up next? Taylor.
Taylor, go ahead, Taylor.
Hey, what's up?
Hey, I just want to give a big shout out to LaRue County, the Bowley and the Hornback and Kessinger family.
I grew up with them and Cutter's cousins, so it's super fun just hanging out with them during the game
and all the LaRue County crowd that was out there supporting Cutter.
So I thought he did an awesome job and had a heck of an arm and some throws out there.
But yeah, just big shout out to them.
Quick question to you, Matt.
How do you feel if Brock has a four start to Texas?
Is Cutter going to fill in?
Is he on deck?
Or what do you think?
Yeah, although I wouldn't put it past him playing Gavin, too.
I mean, they set him out more as a precaution this week.
But I think there are three quarterbacks that, you know, depending on the situation, could see time next week.
So I appreciate the call.
I wouldn't say Brock is on lock to rhyme next week.
But I still think you go with Brock.
Here's the reason for me you play Brock.
If we were playing Texas and then say, you know, Texas A&M, I think you could make an argument to try Cutter.
We play Louisville in two weeks, and we have a shot at beating them,
and I think you've got to put the guy in that gives you the best chance to win it,
and I think that's still Brock today.
That's why I would do it.
If it were both games like Texas where you were huge underdogs,
then I could get the argument.
But we can beat Louisville, and we got to put the guy in with the best chance to do it,
which I do think at this point is Brock.
It's Bonja.
That's who it was.
Billy.
Oh, from Seinfeld?
Kenny Bonnier, yeah.
You need to watch those episodes.
He's in like three or four different episodes.
He would say, it's gold, Jerry, gold.
Oh, I don't remember that guy, yeah.
Yeah.
Was he a dentist?
No.
Oh, okay.
He was a comedian.
Okay.
As what I was saying, he was a stand-up comedian.
And he wanted to go to dinner.
And I don't remember why he needed dinner.
And then, like, he only ordered soup, and he said it didn't count his dinner.
Anyway.
No soup for you.
That's a different episode.
I know, I know.
That's now two references you've done.
that we're not the thing I was saying.
I'll give a third one.
There's obviously clearly a lot of people listening
because a lot of people sent me the Bonnie answer.
So that's good.
859-2-80-22-87.
We will take a break.
It is halftime for the UK women.
Did you get an updated score there, Billy?
Yeah, they're down by three, I believe.
Down by three.
30 to 27 at halftime.
UK women in Louisville should be a big second half.
That game is on the computer.
It's on SEC Plus if you want to watch it.
We will take a break.
Be right back. It's the local toy dealers, KSR postgame show.
It is the local toy dealers KSR post game show.
A couple updates.
Louisville was a 20-point favorite today on the road at Stanford in an ACCC battle.
Yes, those teams are in the same conference now.
And Stanford, Louisville's led big the whole game, but Stanford has come back.
They now have the ball down seven with two and a half minutes to go driving down the field.
The Stanford, the Cardinal.
Billy trying to put some shockways on the Louisville Cardinals.
It is a singular Cardinal versus a plural Cardinal.
I was kind of hoping Louisville would have a chance to make the ACC Championship game when they played Kentucky,
but I wouldn't mind seeing them lose either.
We wouldn't affect that, though.
Oh, we wouldn't?
Yeah, I mean, they would either be in or out regardless of what happened.
Oh, it'd still be nice to beat them.
I did get the win result record of Kentucky State in 1898 when we went 7 and 0.
When we went 7 and 0.
Week 1.
Kentucky beat Kentucky State 18 to 0.
So they got the win there.
So we were both called Kentucky State?
It was Kentucky University versus Kentucky State.
And it was 18 to 0.
All right good.
Then Kentucky State beat Georgetown week 2, 28 to 0.
Got the win there.
The school I teach at.
That's not very nice.
Kentucky State in week three beat Company H8, Massachusetts, 59 to 0 in Lexington.
Company H8 Massachusetts.
That's right.
They had a good squad that year.
Did they?
Yeah.
They did.
Who would we play next?
Week four was a buy, but they got back at it, week five when they played the Louisville, YMCA at League Park in Louisville.
They won that game 16 to zero.
Okay.
Week six, Kentucky State beat Center six to zero.
That was a close one.
The center was really good back then.
Center famously, Billy beat Harvard.
When Harvard was number one in the country, it was called the upset of the sent shing when it happened.
Did you know that?
I did not know that.
All right.
What are the other two?
All right.
Week 7, Kentucky State got the best of 160th Indiana, 17 to 0.
That's not the name of it.
It is 160th Indiana on November 8th.
The name is 160th Indiana.
Yep, back in 1898.
I got to know what that means.
All right, somebody, this is what the tax machine is for.
772-745254.
Why was there a team called 160th of Indiana?
Are there 60 counties in Indiana?
Could it be like one county of Indiana?
That would be a weird way to pose it as one-60th, even if there were 60 counties.
That's a great name.
What's the last?
Well, and there was one more game, and that was week eight when Kentucky State put a 36-0 beatdown on Newcastle Athletic Club.
Newcastle, is that like from, that could be from England, right?
No, no, I don't know.
But 160th, Indiana.
I love the schedules back then.
160th of Indiana.
Louisville YMCA.
What was the name of the one in Massachusetts?
Company H. 8th, Massachusetts.
Wow, that's great.
I love it.
Apparently, Eastern Kentucky University, I didn't know this, Billy, was originally supposed to be in Preston'sburg,
which is why it was named Eastern Kentucky University, but for some reason they changed the location, but then not the name.
How about that?
Seems like you should have just changed the name.
And I said Bonya, it's Banya.
That's right.
Thank you for pointing that out.
I pronounced it wrong.
The dentist on Seinfeld, by the way, Billy, was played by Brian Cranston of Breaking Bad.
Ah, see, I was in the, that's what I was thinking of.
See, we learned so much during the course of a show.
Who's up next?
Ryan.
Ryan, go ahead, Ryan.
You have a cigarette?
Yeah, Ryan, do you have the cigarettes?
Yeah, Ryan, you got the cigarettes.
Yeah, I just wanted to say that that 160th, it's, uh, that 160th, uh,
Indiana team was really good.
However,
I know.
Yeah.
The Louisville YMCA team that year was really hard to guard.
They had a really quick secondary.
There was a lot going on there.
And anyway, my point was to get back to serious here.
I thought that Cal Sucking had a whole lot to do with Stoops being so popular.
We were so done.
with basketball and watching them lose the teams in the first round when they're out
talenting everybody.
That football was like it was, you know, it was fun.
And now I think the shoes on the other foot.
I think I think Pope's got it going on and Stoops don't and I hate it for the football team.
And you didn't answer the guy earlier like where do we go from here, Matt?
What happens, man?
Well, I mean, first of all, I appreciate the call.
I think the Calipari point is not a bad one.
I actually think that's a pretty good point.
I think there was a lot of frustration with Calipari,
and then that led to people sort of finding joy in football,
and that probably helped a lot of Mark's popularity.
I think that is a very, very valid point.
Where do we go from here?
I think, I mean, it's up to Mark.
It's whatever Mark wants to do, ultimately.
I mean, they're not going to fire him.
I don't think they should, but they're definitely not going to.
So it just depends on what he wants to do, and we'll see.
Florida just scored, so they're going to beat LSU.
And LSU had they won tonight, was probably going to,
they had a good chance to kind of back into the SEC championship game.
Not now.
Florida going to get the win.
Who's up next?
Scott.
Scott, go ahead, Scott.
Hey, Matt.
I did not expect fourth and one against all the Jackson.
Can you hear me,
Matt. Yes, go ahead. Sorry.
Hey, sorry. I did not expect all the Jackson Schultz talk to start the postgame show,
but there was one thing about him that I thought you might find interesting.
If you remember several years ago, there was on the Seneca Park golf course,
there was the accident where a drunk driver hit the golf cart and killed a man.
Do you remember that?
Okay. I vaguely remember that, yes.
So I'm almost 100% sure that the man that was killed was Jackson Schultz's father.
Is that right?
Okay.
And I just, yeah, so I'm just really, really happy for the kid.
I did know.
I did know his father had passed away.
I did not know it was that.
So exactly right.
Even more reason to celebrate that that's a cool moment.
At the end of games like this for a kid like that to not only get in, but to have a play like that.
And to get to get celebrated on this show.
that's very cool right that's all I have thanks a lot appreciate it that's uh yeah I do
vaguely remember that happening now and uh that's a that's a really really sad story so 859
280 22 87 what I was saying there is Stanford has the ball it's fourth and one uh they need
they're at the 20 yard line trying to get a first down to keep this game going against Louisville
Louisville's been so weird this year they win at Clemson definitively but you know they
They've barely beaten a couple bad teams, and now they have this performance against Stanford.
Oh, the guys open!
Touchdown Stanford!
Touchdown Stanford, Billy.
Do you go for two?
Down one on the road.
You got to go for two, right?
Well, they're at home, right?
So, no, I kick the extra point.
But you're playing like a much better team.
Oh, you are two and seven.
Yeah, you're two and seven.
You're playing a much better team.
You go for this, right?
Normally the formula is your home.
They're going to kick.
They're going to kick.
See, I wouldn't do that.
I would, boy, that's a heck of a throw by that quarterback.
He got nailed and he let it go for a 25-yard touchdown pass.
Gutsy call, too.
Fourth and one, they throw it 25 yards down the field.
Who's up next?
Butler.
Butler.
Go ahead, Butler.
Hey, Matt, long time, no talk.
Boy, but thank you for call.
By the way, he bout missed that extra point.
But go ahead.
I didn't get to watch the game.
I've been to hospital all evening in the,
because of my mother-in-law, but it didn't really bother me that I missed the game,
I guess, because it was against Murray, you know, it wasn't, I guess, that big of a deal.
Now, Texas, I'll be tuned into, you know, in Louisville, of course.
But I wonder how many people out there's liking you on that.
I think there was a bunch.
I think there was a bunch.
I mean, I, you know, I have a lot of, I mean, obviously, I care the people around the thing,
but I have most of my close friends in the world are kind of casual UK fans, right?
They don't sort of live it and breathe it like you and I would.
And I talked to a lot of them to see what they were doing tonight, and none of them had watched the game.
So I do think that you're right.
I think this was not, I think a lot of people were fine missing it.
I'm the same way.
I just, I don't.
A lot of it, I think, is Pope just has all of us so infused with that now that it's just, and it's been a horrible season.
Of course, football wise.
But second thing, you know, I mean, I call in this Butler.
That's actually my last name, not my first name.
But now that we have a Butler on the basketball team and his jersey is number one,
I got to get me one of those.
You got to get it.
You got to get it.
You got to get it because that's not going to be right.
That's not going to happen very much.
Exactly.
And last of all, I wanted to ask.
Well, you can do it next time, Butler.
I appreciate the call.
You got to get the jersey.
Yes, you do.
Like there was a guy on the Bears that was a Jones.
And I got a jersey many, many years ago.
So you got to do it.
If there's a Butler on the UK team, you got to do it.
Who's up next?
Kyle.
Kyle, go ahead, Kyle.
Turn your radio down, Kyle.
Go ahead.
Who are?
What's up?
Yeah, I'm back.
Well, first, before I get the stoops, I want to apologize for a caller that made a nasty phone call to you a week and a half ago,
Chad from Chicago.
Well, you don't have to apologize.
I mean, wasn't you that did it?
Like, so it's okay.
I mean, I don't know.
Matt, Matt, Matt, I got to apologize.
That's my brother.
That's your brother.
That's my big brother.
I'm Kyle from Chicago.
That was Chad from Chicago that called in there and disrespected you like that.
Did you yell at him then?
I did.
I was right next to him.
I told him to stop doing it.
He wouldn't listen to me.
So I apologize.
Well, that's very nice of you.
But, you know, we can't all be, it's not our fault how our brothers turn out all the time.
So.
Yeah, he's turning out the wrong way.
So, again, I'm sorry.
But I do want to give you a little background of what we're about.
So our dad is from Harlan County.
He went to Everts.
Oh, really?
And our nephew, yes, and our nephew, Jonah played with Trent Noah on the Harlan County basketball team.
Oh, okay.
Gotcha.
you went you went to high school with my oldest brother Kevin's wife Jessica what's her
what was her maiden name I the only last thing I knew of her was co-C-C-O-E but I
said that she went to high school with you I that may be true I don't know that last name
but if she said she did I'm sure she did Middlesboro wasn't that big right and I just I'm just
letting you know all this because it's more of a smaller world than you think it is all the way up
here in Chicago. Well, there you go. From Harlan County to a wife from Middlesbril to two brothers
living in Chicago, one of whom was not very nice and the other one was nice. The world is a small,
it's a small world. Thank you very much, sir. I appreciate it. Can I get on Stubbs real quick?
Yeah, for sure. Okay, I know you said bring him back for a year. I get it. He's done a lot in 14 years.
I don't want to start over.
I know you don't, but are we going to keep giving him a pass for the,
no, no, no, let me be clear.
Let me be clear.
I'm not saying, yeah, I'm not, well, but, okay, those are two different questions.
So I'm not just saying just bringing back for a year.
I don't want him to come back unless he's committed to getting Kentucky football into this new era,
which I think is a three or four-year proposition.
I do not think it's a one-year proposition because of the changes that are coming to the sport.
The question of, are we just going to be accepting of a Music City Bowl, that's a different question, okay?
Because we're not going.
I think what's unacceptable is what we've done this year.
Now, more broadly, is like going to the Music City Bowl an acceptable standard for UK football.
You know, we may have disagreements about that.
I think this new SEC going 7 and 5 or 8 and 4 is going to be a hell of a hard thing.
to do. And if you do it at Kentucky, I'm generally going to be satisfied. If you are consistently
six and six, seven and five, eight and four, you about once every three or four years are going
for nine and three, ten and two, that's what I want. If you, if your expectation is we need to be
better than seven and five every year, I just don't know how you think that's going to happen here
on a regular basis, but I do understand, sir, there are people that believe that. I hung up.
Okay. Appreciate the call. Small world, right?
Fourth and ten now for Louisville.
They're in a unique spot. They're at midfield, Billy, with 11 seconds to go, but it's fourth and ten.
They go for it and don't get it. You give Stanford a chance, like to make a play and maybe kick a long field goal.
So I don't know what they're going to do here. Fourth and ten, so they're going to punt.
So this game's going to go to overtime, Billy, 35, 35.
Yeah, I hate that from Brom. Just throwing out. Get out of bounds. Get the first down.
kick the field goal. But they didn't do that.
No. And now they're going to head to overtime on the UK Louisville women right now.
It is 3430 Louisville, six minutes to go in the third quarter. We will keep you up to date.
We're going to take a break and come back for our final segment. 859-28027.
This is the local toy dealers, KSR post-game show.
Welcome back. It is the local toy dealers KSR post-game show.
All right. So, Billy, those two teams that Kentucky played. What were they?
again.
160th, Indiana.
Yeah.
And then...
Company H8, Massachusetts, something like that.
Yeah, that's right.
They were military units.
Oh, okay.
160th Indiana was a military unit in the Spanish-American War.
Wow.
Wow, is right.
And we beat them.
And then the H, whatever it was, Company H-8, Massachusetts.
That's it.
also a Massachusetts militia regiment.
So we played a military unit from the Spanish-American War
and a Massachusetts militia regiment in football.
How about that?
Stanford has a 57-yard field goal attempt.
Louisville went for it, didn't get it.
Stanford ran a quick play,
and now they will kick from 57 yards to try to beat Louisville
instead of going to overtime, this would be an amazing lot.
Louisville is off sides.
So I'll go to 52 yards.
What a terrible off sides right there.
Oh, that's brutal.
Wow.
Oh, Jeff Brom is losing it.
He's absolutely losing it, Billy.
I feel like we have to stay here before we go to calls because I would let, if they lost this
game with the hubris of Jeff Brom to go for it with 11 seconds when he should have punted it.
And then Stanford doing the smart thing and just checking down.
and calling time out.
Now, a 52-yard field goal, I will take glee, Billy, if they make you.
Against two and seven Stanford, who had 12 people in the stands for this game?
There's no one at this game, no one.
But I hope that no one could storm the field if this kick goes in, Billy.
All right, the snap is up, kick is up, and Louisville goes down.
Oh, my.
Wow.
Louisville loses.
Unbelievable.
What a loss.
One of the all-time choke jobs.
Little was up like 20 in the fourth quarter.
And went for a Hail Mary-in-law.
Wow.
Should have punted.
That is amazing.
Unbelievable.
That is, if you, I'm sure you're not watching the ACC network,
but if you were, that is one of the all-time choky losses I've ever seen.
All right.
So you've got to have some joy after today, right?
Game wasn't that much fun.
That was a lot of fun.
Who's up next?
Ethan is next.
Ethan, what's up, Ethan?
Hey, Matt, I got a question for you.
Who would you rather have?
Brock Vandergriff or Devin Leary?
That's a good question.
Well, I think Brock has more upside,
but I think
Devin Leary
was better than Brock has been
so far. Does that make sense?
I totally agree with that.
And also, do you think Dan Key and Barry on Brown will stay?
Don't think
Dan Key will because I think he will get drafted.
So because of that,
I don't know about Berion.
I really don't.
I think Barryon
I think the Berion and the offensive staff, it's been kind of, I don't want to say love hate
because I think they get along fine, but I think it's been hot and cold.
So I think it will depend.
I don't know, to be honest.
If you made me make a bet, I'd say no, but I don't think that's certain.
Whereas I think Dane, I would be surprised if he doesn't go because I think he'll be drafted.
I appreciate it, Matt.
Appreciate the call.
859-2-8027.
Wow.
fear the tree.
I'm sorry, that was one of the all-time losses.
17 points in seven minutes.
17 points in seven minutes.
And then the fact that they tried to throw that Hail Mary
and it backfired, unbelievable.
Who's up next?
Jacob is next.
Oh, by the way, they commit back-to-back penalty.
I didn't see the first penalty, Billy.
They committed a personal foul on the penalty before
that put them in field goal range.
To put him at 57 and then the off-size.
By the way, he wouldn't have made it from 57.
It was fit.
Like he barely got it over.
Unbelievable.
I mean, that is one of the worst losses I can remember a team getting.
Who's up next?
Jacob.
Jacob.
What's up, Jacob?
What's up, man?
Louisville sucks.
Hey, man, I don't want to be too negative because I've been on such a high this week
after the basketball game.
like I got two things by the way but with the offensive line man they struggled with
Murray State at times and I'm just wondering like how did these guys even end up on an SEC roster
if they can't even block Murray State you know what I mean uh well I mean I I don't know the
answer that question I think I it was not a good performance at the beginning now let me be fair
it was a tough start they the offensive line played much better as the game went on yeah yeah you're
right it's just I couldn't help but wonder and also
So, man, I don't know if it's all Tulane blowout Navy, 35 to nothing.
I just wonder if you'll in the back of your mind, think, like, if we end up with the Stoops for another year or two,
summer all goes to, like, Arkansas, you know, after this year.
Well, that's exactly.
Turn them around.
Yeah, that's exactly why I say what I say about Stoops.
That's why I would say to Mark Stoops.
I only really want you back if you want to be here and want to put three or four years into this.
because you're exactly right.
There would be nothing worse than having him come back, stay a year, leave right before
this big transition in college football, and in the interim, Summerall goes somewhere else.
You know what I mean, sir?
Like, that would be the worst scenario.
So.
Yeah.
So we got, if I'm Mark, I would say to Mark Stoops, if I'm Mitch, man, are you feeling four years?
Because if you are, let's get behind you and do it.
but if you're not, just having a year really doesn't do us any good.
And I think that's where we are right now.
I totally agree, man.
I love Stub, so I appreciate everything he's done for us.
But like you said, if he's not really feeling it, I hope he makes the right decision, whatever it is.
I appreciate it.
Appreciate the call.
I can't believe.
I can't believe it.
Got to watch it live.
I'm telling you, that's like, that cheered me up way too much.
All right.
Let's do, how many you got on the home?
We got four on the line.
Let's just do those four.
Who's next?
Jake.
Jake, what's up, Jake?
Hey, Matt.
Can you hear me this time?
Yes.
Okay.
So I just got home from the game,
and I was happy to see some of the young guys
get some playing time.
I apologize if this has already been brought up.
I don't know if they showed this on the broadcast,
but did you see right before halftime?
There was a moment where I believe it was Dylan Ray,
and Coach W.
Wolford, they were up in each other's faces and Dylan Ray was absolutely screaming at Coach
Wolford and they had to be separated by one of the other coaches on the staff. I don't know if you
saw that or if anybody did not see it. I did not see it. Had someone text it to me. So was that
on the broadcast or no? I didn't know if it was on the broadcast. I was at the game.
I had somebody at the game text the text machine and say that it was it was,
Wolford and Dylan Ray had to be separated, but I did not see it.
That's why I didn't bring it up.
If anybody else, I'll say you brought it up, but you're not the only person that told me that happened.
Okay, I was just wondering if anybody knew why that happened, but I feel like that's just
kind of another, that's just another example of, I think, like the discipline issues that we've
had on this team because, I mean, as a former athlete myself, if I ever got enough up in one of
my coaches faces, I don't think that would have turned out too well for me.
So I don't know that I like that these players feel like they can just do that
and maybe not suffer any repercussions from it.
Yeah.
Well, I appreciate the call.
Thank you, Jake.
I have not seen anything in the media reports from the game about it.
I didn't see anything online.
But I did have at least one person write the text machine and say that happened.
So, and if you're the second, then I think, I mean, I don't think,
two people would have randomly said that.
So there's probably a good chance that that did happen.
I actually rewinded it.
I want to see this personal foul, Billy, to see what did they do?
I didn't realize Orlando Franklin and Jorge Sedano were on the call for this game, Billy.
Both guys, I've done ESPN radio shows before.
Small world.
It's been a thing.
It is a small world.
I had the Harlan Middlesbril thing.
And now Jorge Sedano and Orlando Franklin, both guys I've hosted with.
So let me see what the personal foul was.
I saw the offside.
Now, this is the personal foul.
They just throw a little out.
Oh, yeah.
Was it late hit?
No, he was out of bounds, and he kind of did an ankle lock on his ankle out of bounds.
Kind of a weak call, but that was really stupid, dude.
Like, why'd you do that?
You know?
Moville does dumb things, man.
That team has been dumb this year.
That was really stupid.
All right, three more.
Who's next?
Actually, two more now.
Somebody hung up.
Two more.
All right.
Chase is next.
Chase, go ahead, Chase.
Hey, man.
I'll be honest.
I only watched about the first half of the game.
I was at a Russell County, Pulaski County,
girls' scrimmage today.
But anyway, what should our,
anyways, the rest of the year,
what should our expectations be?
And in pursuit, what are some key dates with life recruiting
and some other things?
would be a sign that he might be leaving or he might be staying.
I think you'll find out his future immediately because the way this works,
December 5th is signing day.
Okay.
And I think if Stoops were to decide he didn't, and by the way, I'm more and more
expecting Stoops to stay.
Originally, I didn't.
I'm kind of leaning more and more than he will.
But if he were to not, I think you'd find out immediately because,
signing day is December 5th.
That's that Friday, I think, or maybe that Thursday.
See, that Thursday or that Friday.
And they will, he would owe it kind of to the team.
And I think we would, we'll know immediately.
But yes, signing day is December 5th.
And they have a really good class.
They lost one of their guys this week.
But they have a really good class, assuming that they're able to keep them all in.
Man.
I can't believe the, I keep doing this, can't believe the Louisville loss.
All right, let's do one more.
Who's next?
Tim.
Tim.
Go ahead, Tim.
Hey, Matt, first time caller.
Who are?
And, hey, I was wondering, you know, I've been a big, big supporter, and I still am.
And I do think he'll be back, kind of like what you, reiterate what you said.
The one person that, one thing I think he struggles with to me is,
his evaluation of talent of his staff.
And it's funny that I've been waiting here and two people brought up the
offensive line.
There's no way he can bring back that guy again.
Yeah.
You know, I think that's going to be hard.
You're exactly right.
And especially with what the guy said earlier.
I mean, you know, it's funny, the offensive line over the years,
there's basically there have been people, everyone loves Shlarman.
there were people that really liked Yenzer, there were people that really liked Wulford,
the, and then there were people who felt the exact opposite way.
So I never really know exactly what to do, but there's no doubt the performance has been bad this year.
Well, he's gone back to the well twice with him.
Yes, yeah.
If I was Soder Bowley or the quarterback looking, I'd be scared out of my wits.
Yeah.
Look, you know, what's coming at my blind side?
And, you know, it's not like they have this huge group of depth.
I mean, they're probably going to have to go into the portal and hope it works, you know.
I mean, that's, and that's dangerous.
They don't have to go into the portal and just hope it works.
Yeah, and, you know, a good thing, you know, with any leader, whether it's coaching or business or whatever,
we try to, you know, you take other people's strengths and try to hide other people's weaknesses.
Yeah.
You know, to kind of cover up.
And I just don't, you know, whether it's blocking schemes or play calling or whatever.
We're not doing that for those guys.
And, you know, they're just so exposed.
I agree with you.
I appreciate the call.
I totally agree with you.
It's been, you know, when you're trying to figure out how good's Barack, it's hard because it's hard to know because it's hard to know because he gets so little time so often.
You know, it's hard to know.
Thank you all very much.
We ended up with phone lines the whole time.
Good show.
We learned about what the 160th Indiana unit is in the Massachusetts 8th and had a good evening.
This day started early, Billy started at 9.30.
It's 7.30 at night.
But thank you all for sticking around.
The Louisville women have gone on a little run to lead Kentucky's women 4642 at the end of the third quarter.
Hopefully we can pull it out in the fourth and get a victory.
We'll see you all on Monday.
