Your 20s can be so exciting, but they can also be really overwhelming, confusing, and honestly, just kind of lonely.
May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and the psychology of your 20s is breaking down the science behind the biggest roadblocks we face.
I was six years into my career, the 80-hour weeks, and just the first one in, the last one out, and I ended up burning out.
There was a large chunk of my 20s that I like was just so wanting to like be out of that phase out of my skin.
And I just like really regret not living in the present more.
You don't need to have everything figured out right now.
You just need to understand yourself a little bit better.

We're in the middle of a game.
This linebacker walks up to me, he goes,
Hey, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her.
What?
Quarterback on office blue 42.
Hey, rec, my mama wants you to wave at her.
What?
Where's she at?
Hey, Miss Parker.

Everybody to the local Toyota dealers,
PSR post-game show.
I'm Matt Jones here at the KS Bar and Grill, where it is a happy crowd after a 41-6 victory over Ohio at a hot at times, Kroger Field.
Max Duffy is joining me.
Max, I want to each of us, 859-280, 2287, I want to each of us kind of give our takes on the game.
But give me the short version before I let you give it along.
Overall, a good day?
Absolutely.
Don't take for granted when we beat.
like this and take care of business.
You know, we've seen plenty of times in the past where we haven't take care of business,
took care of business today, did everything I thought we needed to do is always going to be
want for more, but took care of business and very happy.
Yeah, that's that.
So my take is overall a very, very positive day.
41 to 6.
Ohio's not great, but they are a contender in the Mac.
I mean, that's a team that is probably projected top three in the Mac.
I thought Kentucky came out, you know, a couple, struggle a little bit off.
defensively to start, but the defense was great from moment one.
I mean, really, defense played well.
You know, they allowed one big play on the drive that led to a touchdown,
but for the most part, defense was dominant.
Did not allow Ohio to run on them.
That was Ohio's strength.
Kentucky shut that down.
Ohio ended up playing a backup quarterback, and it showed,
but don't take away from Kentucky's defense playing excellent.
Offensively, they ran the ball from moment one,
so the running game was again strong.
passing game took a little while to get going, but then Brock ends up throwing for over 200 yards.
Dan Key with his career best game played excellent.
There was only one drop that I thought was a blatant drop.
Berion dropped one, but otherwise, generally speaking, pretty good in the passing game.
Pass protection, better, still not perfect.
You can see changing this game, though.
Rolling him out.
Talk me about that.
They're rolling him out a lot more.
For sure.
I mean, if you're giving up pressures, you've got to move the pocket, right?
You can't just let him tee off on him.
So obviously they've decided, hey, this is going to be the go from now.
And let's roll him out.
Let's get some boots.
Get some play action passes on the script.
And to me, it looked good.
I mean, Dana would be a happy man right now.
He should be.
And, you know, they're going to have to sometimes roll left.
It was always right.
But I will say, he throws pretty well on the move.
Like, you know, I mean, he tends to get the.
the speed on the pass, even with, which I think is impressive.
I was not thrilled with the end of the first half, which we'll maybe go into some more detail later.
I don't think it should overshadow the game, though, because I think the game was a really
positive contribution, and now you get Ole Miss next week.
I don't know what to expect in that game, to be honest with you.
There's about any result.
Wouldn't surprise me, but I think you've got to say, if you think about where we were two weeks
go max and now to now you got to feel a lot better. I mean you got to feel so much better than what
we felt two weeks ago we taught you know it was it was doomsday it was the end of the world we
were all saying you know this could be a three and nine season and et cetera et cetera weeks a long time
in football two weeks is even longer and you know to keep it on the last drive they had 40 yards
matt 40 yards of rushing so we kept them to 70 basically for the game before we just said you know
that's the game that's the end and to keep them to 70 I think we kept southern miss to five
Georgia to whatever...
rushing yards.
Rushing yards.
Kept Georgia to whatever it was last week.
It was very low.
Our defense is going to keep us in a lot of games this year.
We just got to be able to not turn the ball over
and not give up the sacks like we did in South Carolina.
Basically, I feel like if we could have that South Carolina game all over again,
the game plan would be completely different.
Everything we did played into what we shouldn't really do as a football team now.
We tried to drop back pass.
We tried to throw the ball a lot.
Now I think if we had our time,
again. We run the ball against South Carolina, you know, 40, 50 times, whatever it is,
and we play that game so much different.
It would be interesting to see if you could flip it, and we played Georgia in week two
in South Carolina in week three. But, you know, we did, and it is what it is.
But I was happy a couple of bright spots to me. One, the Wilcox kids could be really good here.
I mean, like, he's got, you got to give Demi a ton of credit for how he runs the ball.
but Wilcox's got a burst.
You know what I mean?
And we, Ray Davis had burst, right?
Even Benny, especially early, had burst.
Then we kind of used to the more physical running back with Snell and Rodriguez.
And Demi is like that.
Jay Rose used to be that one that used to break for him.
He reminded me of Ray Davis and before him, boom, the way they could just, if they got in gear gone.
And it's nice to have a guy like that.
Eight carries 80 yards, so you average 10 to carry.
I thought he was really, really impressive.
And Drew said it on the pregame.
show like the biggest bright spot for us honestly so far we kind of knew what we were getting with the defense but it's coming in and we were like how's that running backs room going to be they've been great they've been really really good and and the the even brightest spot is we think we've got the best one coming back next week I went that's what yeah chip I think we'll play next week uh Brock van degriff I thought played well you know I what I like about Brock van degriff is I think this is not a situation where there was some worries after the South Carolina game
could this guy just be like a bust?
I don't feel like that's the case.
I think he is, whether he's going to be more levis, more leery,
I don't know that I can say yet, to be honest with you.
But I do, I thought he did play well.
He made the plays when he had time.
He's tough, right?
He'll take hits.
And I like that.
Sometimes he didn't need to lower his head on that one.
No, he did slide a couple times today, though, which was nice to say.
But I mean, we were at 31.
and he's out there lower in his head.
I don't know that that's necessary.
Gavin Wimson came in, liked what he did.
Sometimes he's going to have to, when he comes in during the real game,
hand it off because he runs it every time.
But I thought the last drive at the end, I know all games over,
but I thought that was a really good drive too.
Very, very positive.
I don't, I'm not sure if we can just sub him in and every time run a jet sweep.
And yeah, like you said, he just keeps the ball and runs.
I think that'll get old pretty quick.
But they both looked great.
I mean, when I say great, they're both very much improved.
I think, you know, going forward, we can't rate Brock as a drop-back passer.
It's going to be hard this year, right?
So his ability to scramble, get out of the pocket and create stuff, today he looked like he can do that.
He can do it.
Yes, we want him to slide when we play Ohio or Southern Miss.
But the fact that he's willing to take those hits, it's really going to be massive for us.
You know, next week when we take on Ole Miss, he's just going to have to run through everything.
He's going to have to play.
he's going to have to play better than he's played in all these games,
but I also think he can.
I mean, I think I'm generally positive about Brock at this point,
very positive about the running game,
very positive about the defense.
We switch punters, much to Max's happiness,
and the first punt was 58 yards.
So generally speaking, I'm pretty happy with where things are,
and now the Ole Miss game is quite a test.
I kind of wish we were playing Old Miss on the schedule
where we're playing Texas on the schedule or Tennessee.
But we go down there with a shot.
You know, they're not, they've not played anybody yet.
I think when that spread comes out tomorrow,
it's going to be a lot closer than the average fan in college football would think it is.
Don't you agree?
I think it'll be what?
10 to 12 maybe?
Yeah, you think with Vegas analytics,
like how we've been able to control the run,
it's going to be a lot closer than what people think.
Yeah.
Now, speaking of analytics, I do before I go,
I got to talk about you in the first half.
Not because it mattered, but because it drove me insane.
They have to find a way to get some nerd on the staff,
some nerd on the staff that knows math for the end of these halves.
Because the time management, I'm sitting there at home,
and as they're making mistakes, I'm like, what are we doing?
How are we running design quarterback draw with 45 seconds left at midfield?
Right?
How is it the case that we let the play clock run out?
I mean, whoever, I assume it was Bush Hamden called the plays,
they're running multiple motions and there's 20 seconds left on the clock.
Like you just got to get up to the line of scrimmage.
Then they decide to go for it, not kick a field goal.
What bothers me is there's no consistency in the decisions that they make,
which tells me that they just kind of go.
with it. If we were going to go for it, last week we didn't go for it. Yes, correct. We almost did
everything today like it was last week. And we did last week like this week. Yes. Like they took the
opposite decision, which tells me they don't have a philosophy. Yep. And then Mark Stoops in the
radio interview after it was over said, you know, a lot, everybody was telling me to go for it,
I should have stayed with my gut and kicked. Well, first of all,
it's your decision.
And he did say it's on me.
So he wasn't passing the buck exactly.
But everyone on the team should know what you're doing.
You should have a philosophy in those situations.
When he said I went with my gut, no, that's the opposite of what I should never hear the phrase when it comes to time management.
I went with my gut.
There is a science to this.
There is a math to this.
do the math, right?
Going with the gut, I mean, it's been a large urge of his recently, I think.
Stop.
You just...
100%.
You just can't...
You've got...
I don't...
I actually think kicking was the smart thing to do right there.
Because it's third and eight or nine.
If you don't get a first down, half ends.
Well, what worried me, though, is the mentality.
Like, we're coming out.
We got no timeouts left.
The team must know that.
And we love him on the...
show he's Ryan's favorite obviously but Dane's jogging out I don't know if you
notice this Matt Dane's jogging out to his position and we get the delay a game
like what do we we got to get you got to know the play clock you got to know how
long's left you got to know all the things that go with that you're getting out
of field goal range you said and he's just jogging out there and you know he played
great it was his best game in a long long time we're obviously able to
target him but just the mentality of like are we we got to be practicing this
situation so how are they not switched on to like we cannot afford a delay a game
right there and he's
He's just jogging out there.
And some of that is on Brock, right?
Like you can't take a sack there.
But it's more, I don't understand the philosophy.
Like even when we got the first down at the beginning, I'm just thinking about the decisions.
We get the first down, clock it.
Don't waste the time out.
Don't run a quarterback draw under a minute up the middle, right?
Don't allow the play clock to go out.
All those are their math decisions, and I just hate how we don't make them.
I do like that hat.
You're wearing 859-280-22-87.
Text machine is 772-7-4-7-4-1.
Hear your thoughts of the game.
Are you happy?
I was walking around the bar, talking to people.
People seem generally pretty happy about everything.
So go ahead and make it happen.
We'll take a break and be right back.
It's the local toilet dealers KSR post-game show.
Welcome back.
It is the local toy dealers KSR post-game show here at the KS Bar and Grill.
had a great crowd here after the game.
Come on up.
You can watch games tonight.
Tennessee, Oklahoma tonight will be on at this place.
Have a lot of big games.
A lot of great games going on right now.
You got LSU, UCLA, tied at the half.
Louisville leads Georgia Tech by three at the half.
Michigan, up 14 to 3 against USC.
Miami of Ohio was leading Notre Dame.
3.14.
Now Notre Dame has taken the lead.
So a lot of games going on.
Vandy has Missouri on the ropes.
Yeah, they do.
10-7.
No, it's 10-7 Vandy.
So a lot of good games going on, and they're on all the TVs here.
When I got here, Max, sometimes you say I try to take control too much.
I came here.
All the TVs were on the UK game, but the sound was on a different game.
It was not on any of the televisions.
What game?
UCLA-LSU.
So the only game on TV was Michigan, USC, because it had been set for Kentucky.
And then no other thing was on.
Did you notice when they went to the ESPN broadcast for the start of our game?
It was just on mute.
It was on mute for all that.
So we got it fixed now,
and now we got all the games on.
859-2-80-2287.
Who's up next?
Ryan.
Ryan, go ahead, Ryan.
Hey, how are y'all doing tonight?
Doing good.
Today, this evening.
Y'all staying cool, I'm sure.
I just got a few heads for hotter and heck outside.
But I just got a couple things.
So do you think, I mean,
I'm not trying to dog on Miami, Ohio,
but granted, their team's not really,
I'm not going to say they were a cupcake team.
but do you think that this win, do you think it maybe changes the morale of how the team is?
Or does, do we all think that Kentucky's only going to win maybe three games this year?
No, no, no, no.
I think they're going to win least six.
And this.
At least six.
I think they're going to beat Vandy.
That's four.
I think they win Auburn, Florida.
That gets you to six.
And then hopefully they also beat Louisville, which gets you to seven.
So, well, I was, I was saying that we're, I was saying, you know, after that Georgia game, you know, because of how we played and how our offense was and then watching our offense today, I'm like, you know, this is like typical scoops, though, you know, it's like, they scored 41 points today.
Yeah, I know.
I mean, but you think about you, okay, so you think about that.
We scored 41 points on a Miami of Ohio.
That's, first of all, we didn't play Miami, Ohio.
We played Ohio.
But we scored 41.
Let me, I mean, listen, we scored 41.
I know that like Tennessee will put up 60 sometimes.
41 against anybody is good.
It is.
It's good.
What about like the old miss?
So like do we need to score 41?
No, we're going to.
Maybe.
And I don't know if we can.
But you can't be upset about the offense in this game.
I'm not.
No, no, no.
I was actually proud of how our offense played.
I'm just curious of like, you know, this is like, like I said,
this is like a Mark Stoops though.
Like we play, you know, we should have beat South Carolina.
and, you know, we had Georgia, but like, if our offense would have showed up in that Georgia game,
then we would be having a totally different confidence in the country. And they,
and while I wish the offense had been better, I don't think you can say,
hey, you lost to Georgia by one so your offense stinks. I mean, we played Georgia closer in that
game than anyone's played them in four years in the regular season. Yeah, and that's probably,
and we're probably, and then Georgia's probably probably, honestly, God, like,
that's probably the closest that Georgia's probably going to beat the heck out of most of their teams that they play.
You know, because every time they face Kentucky, it's always a heck of a game.
That's always one of the best games to watch because it's always a good game.
Well, I appreciate the call.
I don't really, I mean, I totally understand being upset about the South Carolina.
But I don't think the last two weeks, Max, have been anything but progress for the offense.
It's like you said, if you want to be negative and positive, you're always going to find a way.
Like, if you want to be negative, you say last week, well, they didn't play their offense, which no one.
knows if they played their offense or not.
And then this week you're like, well, we only beat Ohio.
Well, yeah, it could have been close as well.
Like, what did you want us to do?
What could have possibly made you happy?
Like 41 to 6 is a good victory.
I said, don't take it for granted.
Like, today could have been one of the, we've had letdowns after the Georgia games
for a long, long time.
We've gone in, got beaten by Georgia, and the next week we've been miserable.
Yeah.
Dating back four or five years.
And now, like, what are they putting in front of me?
Now you go into this game, you get the,
job done. I think that's a massive positive. Yeah, I mean it's a 41 points is good for the
offense. Now, are we going to be able to score 41 against Ole Miss? That's going to be much
harder. Would 41 even certainly win against them? I think it would. I don't think we're going to
I don't think we're going to allow Miss to score more than 41. But, you know, this was Ohio,
and they scored six. Last time in Oxford, if I remember correctly, it wasn't a high scoring.
It wasn't a high score. But I think their offense is really, really good year. I mean, I think it's really
Who's up next?
Dalton.
Dalton, go ahead, Dalton.
It is absolutely pouring outside.
It's so weird the rain today.
Go ahead, Dalton.
Okay, I had a couple points until this dude Ryan called in.
I want to address this thing first.
Like, go back two weeks ago after we lost South Carolina, and if we said, I just can't
imagine what we're going to do in Georgia, what is soup's going to say, or what are we
going to see in Georgia is going to make us feel better?
And then fast forward to the Georgia and this game, I mean, what more could you have
asked for?
We couldn't even have imagined this.
That's true.
If you take to the post-game show after South Carolina,
the idea that we would be sitting here, Dalton, would seem impossible.
Yeah.
And my other thing, I want to shout out a couple of broadcasters.
There's a tiny segment between the SEC scoreboard and all this with Jeff Bacchoro and Dick Gabriel.
And they really click.
I don't know if they have a show together.
They should.
It's kind of like when you're away and Drew and Ryan run the show.
It's more of the boys' club.
And then...
I mean, hang on just a second.
like don't that doesn't see i i'm good with the pecorro
gabriel compliment but that feels like a little bit of a shot to me
no it's not a shot it's a different show just like when you when you do
fade this it's not the same thing it's not the same show that's true all right well yeah
i mean i i hope you said man you were like pecorro and and uh gabriel are great
they're like drew and and rind without you yeah yeah okay
good being sensitive i need max to bring back pin it deep and then i think i
I've got our timing situation figured out.
You know, Mark Stubbs and Vince, their Youngstown, their blue collar, their hard-nosed dudes, no nonsense.
I think they just look at all these.
Surely, you're not the only one of the saying.
We're not doing math.
Stuff's for nerd.
I don't know that they're playing football here.
Vince, I don't think, has anything to do with that decision.
I appreciate the call, but I don't know.
I just don't know if Mark's, I don't know if his mindset is like that.
I mean, his mindset is.
he looks back
this is just my read of him
he looks back at the Georgia game
at the end of the first half and says
we did that right
and he looks at today and goes we should have kicked
a field goal in his mind
the play is always field goal
and I think not kicking it here
will make it even more likely he'll
always kick it in the future
I think you've got to
and I agree with you
he seems a little confused I think you've got to buy into
one philosophy 100%
either way it's going to be
So for example, when I was at Murray State last year, Coach Hood, he has a sheet and he just, it is all the scenarios that you could possibly have.
Obviously, there's going to be some outliers sometimes, but there's as many scenarios as you can think of.
It tells you what to do.
He will just follow that 100% because in the moment when you try to make rash decisions, you're like, well, why didn't I just think back to when I was thinking logically and do that?
And so for me, it's like, we just seem very confused with what we're going to do.
It's like, oh, well, we should follow analytics sometimes to keep people happy.
and then sometimes he's like, well, no, this is the way I play.
I think you just got to go all in on one and then just be happy.
In my opinion, there should be a sheet.
You should say 95% of the time I'm doing what this is.
Okay, there might be a minute or two that for whatever reason,
the sort of intricacies of the moment of that game make you do something different.
But in general, I think you would say, I'm doing this 95% of the time.
I mean, even going into the game,
you could be like, all right, who are we playing?
Let's look at the sheet and let's decide, hey, if we are in this position.
So, for example, they have a sheet for kicking, whether to kick or go for two.
And I bet you coaches do it 99% of the time.
I think we're going to get to a point that we do that for these end of games,
and we're going to look back and go, you know, they used to go with their gut on whether to go for one or two.
And then at once some point they said that's not the way to do this.
And I think that's going to happen with this, too.
at some point. Who's next? Legolette. Legolette. What's up?
Hey, Matt. Wimset looked really good, and I was wondering if we could get him more touches,
and here's the reason why. He brought getting rushed by the defense,
and I think it would be beneficial because he's a dual threat and quicker to get out of the pocket.
Also, we could use him in certain offensive situations maybe on like a third and one
or third and two for dual-trick purposes. Maybe on the fourth and one spot,
he could have gotten first down? I mean, could we use him in those type of situations?
more?
I think all of those are applause.
I mean, there is a case to be made after today.
And I appreciate the call that whims it play more.
I don't know that you want to put him a lot more because I do think you have to keep a
quarterback in a rhythm.
But, yeah, I mean, there's a case to be made that there should be, he should get some
more playing.
There's situations where he can be used for sure.
Again, you don't want to get into the position where he comes.
comes out and it's predictable what we're trying to do.
Exactly.
And I think that's the thing you have to make sure doesn't happen.
Because Brock can run just as, I mean, brock is not as if Brock has come out and being the guy that's like, oh, well, we can only have him in the pocket.
He's going to run just as much.
Brock is not fast, but Brock is tough.
Yeah.
And from what I've seen in general makes the right decision as to when to run and win not.
And so I think that's possible.
Who's next?
Jared and Nicholasville.
Jared.
Go ahead, Jared.
Hey, man.
You know, I'm happy about the win today.
We played great.
You know, one kid that I want to point out,
you can talk about Barry Allen Brown, Dayke, and Sumo,
like all you want, and Brock, all you want.
I think our tight ends need to be involved more.
And Georgia had a good game today because especially when I fake the run.
You know what I mean?
You know, I've been, we've talked about tight ends for 10 years,
and I made the decision last year that I'm kind of,
done saying throw to the tight in because I just don't know how much it's ever going to happen.
I wonder and I appreciate the call, why do you think that is?
Like, why don't, I mean, we've never really spent a whole lot of time throwing to the time.
I mean, I think it kind of buys into the whole Kentucky mentality of like, you know, what,
what don't we have? And whenever we have an issue, we just go, well, why don't we do that?
So it's, I think it's a little bit of that.
It's like, well, when we throw the ball a lot and that doesn't work, we say, why don't we run it?
Then when we run the ball a lot and we don't throw it, we say, well, why don't we throw it?
And then if it's neither of awe, we just go, well, why don't we throw the tight ends?
We never throw it to the tight ends.
It's just something to give us a bit of hope when we don't go well.
I mean, we've got some good tight ends.
We threw past the Dingle today.
We did.
That was a good catch by Dingle too.
I mean, that was a big pizzazz.
I think it was a third and long, and he got it.
And so, yeah, that was a big, that was nice.
And that's the thing.
There's three or four guys.
And sometimes as well, like, understand that it doesn't always have to be tight ends that are connected.
to, you know, inside the core, as I would say.
So, you know, connected to the line.
So we put Catas outside today a little bit.
We put Dingle outside.
Like, we are throwing to some tight ends sometimes.
Maxis right here is one of my ESPN people.
How you doing?
He was at the party with us last week.
His son goes to UK.
Nice to see you all for parents' weekend.
Thank you guys very much.
Who's up next?
Miles.
Miles.
What's going on, guys?
What's going on?
Hey, I'm calling from the sunny town of Kenai, Alaska today.
Oh, yes.
Have you called before, right, from Alaska?
Yeah, I've called a few times before.
Yes, well, how are things in Alaska?
Ah, cool, and sunny?
Not too bad.
Well, good.
Yeah.
It was calling to say, you know, it's obviously there are things we can all complain about.
And I think kind of some of the things I've seen are just schematic and coaching.
sort of issues. But I think
truly one of the most positive things
is, especially after deflating
loss, like South Carolina, I've seen these kids
still continue, especially with Georgia.
And then today, you know,
buy and sell out.
And it's great to see a team, you know,
after getting beat like
that, still putting in the effort
and really being competitive.
Totally agree with that. There was, I mean,
I was worried. I think Max was a little
concerned, like, after that South Carolina game,
I mean, is there. There,
not going to quit are they and they certainly have not i mean they came out in that georgia i think
think it was good we played georgia the next week because you that'll get you focused and uh and then
you know they played i thought they played very well today i the defense and i appreciate the call
even the south carolina game i mean we gave up 31 10 of those the offense handed the points to them
yep through whatever thing and then i think the i think the defense has been awesome it is
go back and watch Dionne Walker in the first two possessions.
Ohio cannot run at all.
He kind of gets hurt on a play, and he sits out the next two possessions,
and Ohio drives down the field, they fumble, and they're able to run through them.
It is amazing the difference that dude makes.
I mean, he's going to be a tough 10 peak.
I mean, it's amazing.
Ohio was able to run it once he went out, but when he came back in,
they were done again.
I think, you know, you don't want to have this.
Obviously, this is why Alabama, Georgia are such good programs.
You're allowed one mulligan to me.
You're allowed one mulligan.
We were obviously very, very annoyed it happened early in the season,
but you're allowed one mulligan.
It's the response after that.
And the response has been amazing.
I mean, the effort against Georgia was incredible.
Today was great again.
I think that shows, obviously, not only do they, you know,
have some pride in their own performance,
but they have a lot of pride and a lot of respect for the coaches,
because they would know at that point, they would hear the talk.
Of course.
Stoops in trouble.
Is my position coach in trouble?
Especially for the O-line.
And them to come out and produce the effort
and the performance that they have means that they have some respect for those guys.
Did you like the decision to change punters?
I wasn't against it.
I mean, you have to, right?
Like, it's 56 yards in the air.
When was the last time we saw that?
That is...
There was a guy from Australia that was pretty good at.
But he didn't get 56 or 58 in the air.
He sometimes, he was able to roll it a little bit.
Come on now.
You weren't watching closely enough.
Sometimes it was 60 plus in the air.
Oh, that's right.
Fair enough.
No, but that's what you, it is SEC football.
And especially with the type of game we're going to play,
you have to be able to flip the field.
You have to be able to punt like that.
And teach him how to go cover and make some tackles.
I loved it.
I think it was awesome.
It was a touchback, but, uh, which people made the joke.
It was still 38 yards net.
Yeah.
So it's actually, we should have had Wilson just put it.
anyway but who's up next will will will how are you will oh i'm doing great how you guys doing
good just a couple things i think uh vandergriff as you know i'm sitting here screaming
throw the ball he seems like he wants to hold the ball for quite a bit too long or he's not
seeing the field maybe your thoughts on that but also another do you think he holds it go ahead with
your other question by other questions you can answer them both and i'll hang up but anyway um do you think
You know, when the offensive play is called, does he kind of like call on Audible and say,
hey, we're not going to go with that.
Let's run the ball because it seems like that's a $64,000 question.
Bush Hamden said this week that he does not overrule it.
And, you know, Max asked if that was like a hostage being told that, but I don't, you know, I don't know.
I mean, it appears that way, but.
Yeah, well, I mean, we don't know.
And I appreciate the call.
He might.
Do you think Brock holds the ball too long?
I do. Not all the time, but sometimes I, but again, it's hard on television because we don't see the whole receivers to see where people are.
But it does feel like he holds maybe a half second too long.
Maybe, but I think that's just the competitiveness in him.
Like that's just wanting to create a play for the team.
And especially, you know, if I was Brock and I finally get the chance to pass, you know, instead of handing it off.
I think I'd be like, I'm going to take advantage of this one.
I got to make this one.
He did have a, he did have a player to one of his.
throws to Dane was because he held up.
Yes, down the sideline.
Down the sideline.
If he doesn't hold on to that, then that play doesn't develop.
So he did get about a 40-yard game because of that on the play.
Yeah, and I mean, again, it's scramble, scramble mode.
He's trying to create something.
With the other question, there's obviously that famous clip of Stoops saying,
just run it, run it, run it, run it.
I think he decided, and I genuinely believe this, and who knows,
I obviously joked about it in the pregame show,
but I think when he made that switch to Cohen,
I think he has given, and people can say whatever,
and he will come with a philosophy, there's no doubt,
but I think he allows him to call what they're on.
Well, I will tell you, and I think he would be fine with me saying this.
When Cohen decided to go to Tampa Bay,
there were some fans who sort of said,
you know, he leaves because he doesn't get to do it.
And Mark said to me, you can ask Liam.
I let him do whatever he wants.
And I asked Liam.
And Liam said, and at this point, he's left, right?
He said, Mark lets me do what I want.
And the bottom...
And I don't know if that was true the first time Liam was here,
but I do think he was true the second.
And the bottom line right now is,
is even people that are saying that he's handcuffin,
we cannot drop back pass 30 times a game.
So that's not him saying, hey, I don't want to do that.
It's we should not do that.
It's true.
We should not do that.
Yeah, 859-280-2287.
Who's up next?
Let's go to Jimmy.
Jimmy.
We'll take this one and take a break.
Jimmy, go ahead.
Hey, Matt.
Jimmy's getting excited again.
Well, good.
I want you to be excited, Jimmy.
That's what we need.
Yeah.
Jimmy was really down after South Carolina, Matt.
But now Jimmy's getting it.
Well, I'm getting excited, too.
Listen, I think they've got a shot next week.
I don't know that I'm going to pick them, but I think they've got a shot,
and then they get a buy, and then they hit a part of the season where I think they can make some noise.
Hey, guess who I saw at the game today, Matt?
Who's that?
Shagari.
Oh, Shigari.
Well, he'd have been hard to miss.
Shigari was there?
Was he salsa dancing?
Yeah, I asked him about it.
Also, ask him about the upper decker.
Don't ask him that.
Did he say?
I hope you didn't ask him.
He gave me a big no comment.
I appreciate the call.
Do you know who Shigari Elene?
I did not.
Shigari Aline was a, I think he's a tallest player in UK history.
He was 7 foot 4.
You need to look him up.
Look up Shigari Aline.
Okay.
He played, I want to say, early.
It's going to be interesting spelling.
Mid, S-H-A-G-A-R-I-A-L-L.
Not him.
That is not him.
His name is not, his name is not, no, not Shigari-A-L-L-E-L-L.
Shigari Alim.
Alleyn.
I want you to see this guy his full height.
And then I want you to tell you, he is a salsa dancer now.
Did he even have to jump to dunk?
At 7 foot four, he is now a salsa dancer.
What, does he have to dance with two ladies on top of each other's shoulders?
While we're on the break here, all of you at home should do this too.
Google Shigari Aline salsa.
And there's a video, I believe, on the internet of him doing it.
And the girl is half his height.
It is one of the most amazing things you'll ever see.
859-2-80-2-2-80.
He was on the Today Show.
He's also dancing.
He's friends with Mark Pope.
We will take a break.
859-2-80-2-80-27.
This is the local Toyota dealers, KSR, post-game show.
Welcome back.
It is the local Toyota dealers, KSR post-game show.
Happy birthday to Walker over there.
It's his birthday.
Max really likes Walker because he's wearing the long snappers jersey.
You don't see that line, do you?
You don't see that at all besides family members.
When is the last time you would have seen someone walk around?
Firstly, who even knows who the long snapper is?
Secondly, who bothers to buy their jersey?
I like it, though.
I like a kid who's like, yeah, I don't need Dion Walker, Brock Vandergriff, Barry, and Brown, Danky.
I am for the long snapper, and I don't even know who the long snapper.
And he's the backup long snapper at the moment, too.
Oh, that is actually the backup longstaffir?
Yes, yes.
Which I love.
I love that.
And you said, no.
Yeah, he's just like, no, I like this guy.
What are we talking about?
That means UK is selling.
actively the backup long snap.
Do you think that's the only person who's bought it?
I think there'd be a lot left.
I think there'd be, especially in that size, too.
I love it.
Surely.
All right, we got a couple up in lines.
859-280-2287.
It's the post-game show.
I want to hear from you.
Come out to KS. Bar.
By the way, NFL all day tomorrow,
the Bengals don't play,
so we'll have all 10 games in the early games.
We'll have them all on all across the televisions here.
Who's up next?
Let's go to Austin and Pikeville.
Austin and Pikeville.
What's up, Boston?
Hey, Matt.
I love the show.
Just one call in.
It's a great game today.
Pretty favorable for my draft king, too.
And I wanted to clear something up.
You were talking about Cody earlier this week and not paying his dues.
Yes.
You know what I'm talking about?
Yes, I do.
Cody that, so people know, Cody and I had a bet who was going to win the presidential race,
Trump or Biden.
I bet Biden.
He bet Trump.
Biden, of course, has dropped out, and Cody now says he wins.
And there hasn't even been an election yet, and Biden is not in it.
And I said, no, you canceled the bet when a team doesn't play.
And then I was told that Cody shouldn't get the bet.
He doesn't even pay his dues for fantasy football as it is.
So do you have a comment on if Cody pays his dues?
Yes, I'm actually commissioner of that league, and he didn't pay his dues.
Oh, you're the commissioner.
Oh, he did pay his dues.
Okay, well, as the commissioner, you would agree,
I did not lose the bet.
It got canceled.
By the way, I offered to remake the bet with Harris,
and he won't do it,
so it shows you that maybe Cody's a little chicken.
Well, I mean, I believe the sports books would call that a void of bet.
That is avoided bet.
Thank you very much, Commissioner.
You got anything else?
That's it.
All right, I appreciate it.
It shows you why he's voting for Trump, though,
you know, fake news of him not.
And the Jews.
Oh, no, stop it.
We don't make such comments.
It is just a bet.
And I'm willing to make it again, Cody.
The bet was that I would buy him dinner and if not,
and he would cook me dinner if the Democrat.
Would have you had that cook dinner?
I'm not cooking it.
I know.
I will take him out.
I'm not cooking.
No, if he loses, he cooks you dinner, right?
He cooks me dinner.
Would you want to eat that?
Because what's he making you?
That's a fair point.
need to see the menu first. Or is he just going to send you a pager or something?
Who's up next? Dale from Springfield.
Dale from Springfield. How are you, Dale?
What's up, Matt?
When's the Sorghum Festival, Dale?
I think it's like a week after next.
Okay, gotcha. I'm going to Ham Days this Friday in Marion County.
So, uh...
Well, hey, man, if Cody cooks you a meal, like does suit count as a meal?
Is he going to Daniel? Or what?
I don't get it.
Good Seinfeld restaurants.
It's Seinfeld.
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
I got you.
Okay, you're talking about, what was the name of the comedian?
Banya.
Banya.
That's right, Banyan.
Well done.
All right, go ahead, sir.
Tells the Oval Teen joke.
First of all, Max, don't know if I'm on the phone.
Hey, sir, you're going to need to talk in the phone.
We can barely hear you.
Oh, I'm sorry.
Hey, Max Duffy.
Yep.
My second favorite kicker besides Nathan Hazlitt that played from Moorhead.
Max Duffie is awesome.
Love Max Duffie.
There you go.
That's very nice, have you?
Yes, sir.
Yeah, I mean, but hey, everybody should be happy, right?
41 to 6.
I mean, good win.
Everybody's feeling good going into the Ole Miss game.
And I just, Matt, I want to tell you, I appreciate what you guys do because this week
has been such a weird week in Kentucky with all the news stories going on and just all the
craziness, you know, it was nice to be able to tune in to you guys and kind of bring it back
down to a calm level.
Well, thank you very much.
It has been a, this has been one of the crazier news weeks in the history of this state, as far as I can remember.
I appreciate the call.
Some of it was kind of fun, and some of it definitely wasn't fun.
And, yeah, it is crazy.
But one of the things I love about this show, probably the thing I love about the most about it,
is it is kind of like the sort of community roundtable of Kentucky.
and I do appreciate that
and thank you for saying that.
There was so many stories this week
which, you know.
It was wild.
From the Fred and Sheila
finding the body
to the awful thing in Ledger County
to the representative in Louisville.
It was just something crazy
every single day.
It kind of got us through,
I mean, whether good or bad,
it kind of got us through a week
where we were going against
not Miami of Ohio, but Ohio.
Ohio.
And, yeah, got us through that week
and kind of made that speed up a little bit
and gave us something to talk.
By the way, one person is that right to write to me
and asks me,
do we make reservations to watch the game against Old Miss at KS. Barr?
We will do that, but I'll tell you about how to do it later in the week.
I believe this.
Outside of the NCAA tournament, the best environment in this bar is a road football game.
The NCAA tournament's different, but the best environment is a road football game.
Even at noon, that's really when it is the best.
Who's next?
Let's go to Clint.
Clint. What's up, Clint?
Hey, Matt.
I know you sometimes listen to plain English.
They had a recent episode about why the offense was down in the NFL.
Yeah, what they said, the too high safety?
The two high safety, but they also talked about how the defensive linemen just across high school, college, and in the NFL, they're just way more athletic.
It's a lot harder to get good offensive linemen to combat all the great defensive linemen because they have to work together, whereas a defensive lineman, he comes.
can rotate them in and out.
They can be different sizes for different plays, big, small, fast.
You agree with that, Max?
Yeah, but it's always been the case.
It's like, well, the NFL has changed, though, in the sense that the defensive linemen now are not all big hosses.
They got a lot of athletic, you know, Josh Allen types on the edge, which hasn't always been the case.
And so I do think that makes it probably a little harder because the offensive linemen are not necessarily.
Also, no preseason.
No, yeah, that's another thing.
It takes a few weeks.
Now, sir, you used to play four preseason games.
Uh-oh, pick six for Michigan here.
Wow.
Pick six, touchdown Michigan.
But go ahead, sir.
Anything else?
Yeah, and I was just thinking for us,
if you're in the transfer portal era
and you're swapping in guys from other schools
and continuity is so important on the offensive line,
it's almost even harder because you can bring in a great defensive lineman
and they just have to do their part.
They don't necessarily have to be as good.
That's true.
That's a good point.
Well, I appreciate that.
Aaron Murray said that tonight.
Aaron Murray talked about that today.
Aaron Murray talked about, he was talking about Ohio specifically,
but he was talking about how the Mack schools,
they're losing so many players to the SEC,
and then they have to, in Big Ten,
and then they have to get guys from lower divisions,
and where he said it hurts them the most
is the offensive line for the exact reason that guy just said.
Absolutely.
And unfortunately, for those kind of schools,
it's just going to be what they have to deal with,
then the coaches that can deal with that the best
and be able to, you know,
reinvigorate themselves each year and bring guys in
and going to be the best teams.
Yeah, I mean, it's just the way it is.
It's going to be the same for us, too.
We're going to lose some guys.
At some stage we will lose them.
But I actually think coaching at the MAC level
would be the hardest because you're going to,
I mean, look, I don't know if you saw the staff.
Like Ohio lost like 35 guys.
Yeah.
And, you know, the lowest one was like 14.
So not only you're losing guys, you're going to have to go to, like, D2 and get those guys.
Especially with big guys up front.
Yeah, so like the GM, you talk about programs that need a GM.
Those Mac schools, that's probably the hardest gig of all.
Who's up next?
Elliot from Monticello.
Elliot, go ahead, Elliot.
Hey, Matt, how's it going?
Doing good.
Hey, just very balanced win today.
What a game from Dan.
Ron's probably doing a happy dance.
Yeah, so what game, Ron missed?
Ryan missed.
This is the first game he's missed.
He had to take his son on a college visit,
and he misses Dane Key's best game.
Wow.
Wow.
I did have a question.
What is our punting situation looking out after today?
Of course, Aymour Rose looks really good on his one punt.
Just curious to see if there's a change there in the coming week.
You got to think there is, Max,
wouldn't have made the change today, right?
Yeah, I'm interested because
as far as I know they hadn't said anything
in the lead up to the week, have they
made a change, and I don't think the depth chart would
have changed otherwise we would have heard about it
because I know a lot of people weirdly are
focusing on it, but you think maybe
they finally made that change. Maybe they've heard the noise,
maybe they've decided, hey, this is the way we're
playing, and therefore we need field position.
A couple updates.
LSU leads UCLA 2417.
Vandy leads Missouri on the road at halftime.
I'm on the ropes.
13-10, Louisville, Georgia Tech.
Tied at 17, late in the third quarter.
Georgia Tech, trying to pull the upset off against the Cardinals.
Who's next?
Let's go to Brandon at Louisville.
Brandon, go ahead, Brandon.
Are you all right with an off-the-wall question?
Okay.
So, the Rock recently said in the interview, his go-to party trick,
if he picks up a grape with his butt, do you all have a party trick?
I don't believe they said that.
Yes, in an interview.
If you watch, he in an interview, said at kids parties, he does the movie he's in, the voice, but at an adult party, he puts a towel in front of him and takes off his pants.
Oh, the rock.
I'm sorry.
I thought you said Brock, meaning the quarterback.
And I was like, I don't think that happens.
Yeah, I don't know.
I appreciate the call.
Do you have anything really weird you can do?
I can't do it with a headphone on, but I can, back when I had a lot of hair, I could take my hair and, and.
And with my, like this, you see how I'm moving it over in my forehead,
I can move it up and down and it made it look like I had a toupee.
That's really all I got.
I got nothing.
Nothing for the air anyway.
Let's do one more, and we'll take our final break.
Who's up next?
Josh.
Josh, 859, 2807.
Go ahead, Josh.
Okay, well, I tell you what, we were at the game, and we had a great, great time.
But I've got to give a lot of kudos to the fans that stayed.
all the way to the end of the game.
Because my wife and I were there,
and I mean, the sun was beating down,
and I looked over, and there was a woman had to have been,
you know, maybe 65, 70 years old.
All right, my wife tells me that's not old.
But all I'm telling you,
you know, she's knocking on that door.
But anyway, but the thing is,
is, I mean, there's some hardcore fans
that stayed through the game,
and, you know, I mean, we're cheering when, you know, when we had the second team and really they looked
just as impressive against Ohio.
I don't know if they were bringing out their second team as we did.
And it really, really did great.
But you saw some of these older folks.
I mean, they're in the sun and everything else.
And this woman just stood up, like shrugged it off.
Like, yeah, I've been in this all the time.
Absolutely.
Absolutely.
And you saw what you would have seen at North Carolina game playing JMU.
they were leaving at half time.
Now, I know JMU put up 53 points against them,
but they decided to leave a half time.
I think, you know, it was pouring down with rain this morning.
We're playing a max school.
You know, we're one and two on the schedule.
Haven't won an SEC game yet.
Absolutely.
Thank you to all the fans have turned out.
This bar is also very packed as well.
I think it's going to be a great week next week.
I think UK football players have been able to turn around in the last few weeks,
the whole fan base and the whole part.
I think it's going to be awesome.
I'm going to the game.
I wasn't necessarily going to go.
after the South Carolina game, but I'm going now, and I think I'm the only one of the crew going.
I can't even remember how many times that's happened.
859-280-2287.
We got some open lines.
Finish it up for us strong.
This is the local Toyota dealers, KSR Post-Game Show.
We'll take a break.
Be right back here on, I was about to say UK Sports Network, but that's not it.
Here on KSR.
Welcome back.
It is the local toy dealers KSR post-game show.
We are here at KS bar.
Crazy Play right there at me.
Michigan USC.
USC, it looks like fumbles.
Michigan's defensive lineman picks it up, starts running down the field,
and a USC player comes and takes the ball from him.
But it looks to me like the original USC quarterback.
That might have been a...
It might have been an incomplete pass.
What do they say here?
No, they're just confirming it.
They're giving USC the ball.
Wow, I thought that was incomplete.
But Louisville's taking the lead 2417.
tonight here at KSpar have all the games.
Oklahoma, Tennessee is a big one.
You think Tennessee, a lot of the guys on the game day said they think Oklahoma's got a shot to win.
Do you think so?
I told you by this time of the year, Vegas doesn't get many things wrong.
And they've given Oklahoma a weird chance of keeping it close.
So I'm on Oklahoma.
I'm not to win, but to cover that spread.
I think it's six and a half right now.
Interesting.
Well, it'd be interesting to see.
I don't know.
I think Tennessee blows them out, but maybe I'm wrong.
859-2-80-2287.
who's up next.
Let's go to Chris in Hopkinsville.
Chris in Hopkinsville.
Go ahead.
Hey, question for Matt.
Max, you're a special team guy.
I apologize if y'all already covered this.
I hadn't heard the whole show.
Why can't we get a guy back there that can catch a punt?
We've been four games.
We're four games into the season,
and I don't know if we fielded a punt in the air yet.
It is absolutely unbelievable.
Yeah, I'll tell you from today with the Lundit,
He's the punting from the other team was near on disgraceful and so like good luck
Good luck catching those when they're going he's an Australian so I'm happy to say that
It was going 27 yards of the air and just getting fluky I mean it was it was terrible
I mean good luck catching those so to me when when we get into the SEC games and guys start having
You know good as we say consistency with our punts good consistency then we'll start catching some being able to bring something
Yeah, I do think I agree with
you to the caller about some of the games, but I do think the kicks today were going an absurdly short distance,
and I do think that makes it harder for the returner.
But I did think in the South Carolina game, now you said the South Carolina punters really good.
They were not fielding enough punts.
He won't fair catch it either.
I mean, I don't care if you're running back.
He doesn't mean.
Don't let it hit.
You're exactly right.
Don't let it hit and bounce 15 yards on it.
That's going to kill us against, you know, when you're actually playing a good team.
Yeah, I appreciate the call.
You can't get up 15 yards.
I wouldn't worry about today because I think part of the reason he let it bounce is those kicks were so bad.
Those days were bad, bad, bad.
They were really, really bad.
Who's up next?
Josh in Owenton.
Josh in Owenton County in the house.
What's up, Josh?
Hey, Matt.
I just enjoy the show.
Thank you.
I didn't get to watch the game today because I was running the Air Force Marathon in Dayton,
but I had a funny story to share with you about the crazy news stories this week.
when you guys were sharing the video of
Fred and Sheila finding the body there
my daughter was in the car and now all she can say is
oh my Lanta all the time
Oh my Lanta was the
You know that tell her that's that goes back to
That goes back to full house
So you know
That's old times
Yeah she's three years old
And she's been saying oh my Lanta
Ever since she heard that in the car
So there you go
Oh, my Atlanta.
Yes, 859, 28.
Well, I appreciate it.
Thank you.
How do you have the marathon go, by the way?
Did you finish?
We finished it.
It was super hot.
We finished an 88 degrees, so not the times we wanted, but we did finish.
Well, good.
Still alive.
I got to say hi to somebody back.
You take the next call.
I appreciate the call.
Who's up next?
Let's go to Keaton in Chattanooga.
Hey, good afternoon, Matt.
What's going on?
Yeah.
So also great to hear from you, Max.
I just had a question if Matt had any insight of what time the Vandy game would be in a couple weeks.
Well, Matt has gone walking around the restaurant yelling at people again.
Like always, he's checking on TVs and barking instructions,
trying to get a round of applause like he always does, about to tell people some good news or something.
So he is not on right now.
But we do not know, I believe, when the Vandy game is.
Logan, you don't know when the Vandy game is.
There's been no announcement of time.
No, no announcement of time.
So I have no idea.
I would guess it's at night because, obviously, it coincides with Keenland.
So normally when we have Keenland and we got the home game, we normally get the
nighttime because they don't like to run those things simultaneously.
So I'm going to guess it's at 7.30 at night.
I'll be attending both, Keenland and Vandy.
So that's the best information I've got for you.
Hey, that's the insight that I call in to get.
So I think you know it better than Matt.
could have. No problem at all. No problem at all. We got anyone else? We do. Let's go to John in
Versailles. John, how are you? Hey, Max, I'm doing good. Hey, I wanted to check with you on something.
I'm a former kicker myself, so I pay a lot of attention to the kicks in the game. And Jack Pilgrim wrote
in his postgame column that the last play of the first half when the clock expired, Alex Raynor
banked a 51-yard or off the goal post. But what I thought I saw was the young kicker from Montana
with a strong leg and I thought it was a 61-yard try that he banked off the goal post.
Did you happen to pay attention to that?
I saw it was Rainer. It was Rainer. It was Rainer. It was Rainer. He knocked, it was after.
He knocked a 60 yarder. It didn't count. But they said he might have 55. He's got more than that,
Max. And when you could see when he walked off, he was like, what are we doing? I just kicked the
biggest field goal in UK history again in two weeks straight and all the other specialists.
So, yeah, disappointing for him.
probably good for the team.
Yeah.
He hit it great.
Yes, he did.
He hit it great.
I appreciate to call.
Rainer.
He's going to get, all he needs is a game winner,
and he'll kind of join McGuinness and some of these guys as the kickers, you know,
of all time.
He broke the UK record today for the most consecutive.
So he now holds the record for the longest kick and the most made in a row.
That's pretty good.
That's fantastic.
If he needs a game winner, if he gets a game winner, he's going to go and, like, he'll be on a,
amongst the best of them.
There's one coming.
We haven't had an attempt at one.
There's normally one maybe every two, three years.
We haven't had one for a while, so there's one coming.
All right.
Last call.
Who's up next?
Aaron from Louisville.
Aaron, finish strong.
Who's saying that, John?
Doing good.
I was at the game today.
All right.
Talking to the phone, I can't hear you.
I was at the game today.
I thought Kentucky looks pretty good.
And I like our chance to get Zon-Met next week.
I hope you're right.
I like our chance to win.
be in it. We'll see if we're able to win it. We've lost two close games against them in a row.
I appreciate the call. Max, thank you very much for coming. Thanks for having me.
And thanks to all of you, have been around here today. We, a lot of fun. Cats get a victory.
Everything's going well for the program. And now we go to Oxford for what should be a big weekend
next week. Game will be at noon. Thanks to Gus in the studio. All the folks been going since
eight this morning. This has been the local Kentucky Toyota dealers, KS,
our post-game show.
Another podcast from some SNL, late-night comedy guy,
not quite.
Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and Friends.
Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman
help make you funnier.
This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer, Streeter Seidel,
help an a cappella band with their between songs banter.
Where does your group perform?
We do some retirement homes.
Those people are starving for banter.

We're digging into the biggest surprises of the season. And I'm looking back on some of my greatest

also be really overwhelming, confusing, and honestly, just kind of lonely. May is Mental Health
Awareness Month, and the psychology of your 20s is breaking down the science behind the biggest
roadblocks we face. I was six years into my career, the 80-hour weeks, and just the first one in, the last
went out and I ended up burning out.
There was a large chunk of my 20s that I like was just so wanting to like be out of that
phase out of my skin and I just like really regret not living in the present more.
You don't need to have everything figured out right now.
You just need to understand yourself a little bit better.

Like being an internet famous referee.
We're in the middle of a game.
This linebacker walks up to me, he goes,
hey, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her.
What?
Quarterback on office blue of 42.
Hey, rec, my mama want you to wave at her.
What?
Hey, Miss Parker.
