Starting point is 00:02:45 on the Iheart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Welcome, everyone. It is the local Toyota dealers KSR post-game show. The official latest start for a football post-game show of all time. Billy and I were talking right before we started if this was the latest show ever. I don't, there might have been a basketball game at some point, but this is definitely the latest football one. And look, I'm just going to say, if after tonight you've been up this whole time, then you are a true fan.
Starting point is 00:03:19 859-28027. So I want to hear what you got to say. We might be the latest staying up fan base in the country tonight. 859-280-2287. The cats get a 31-0 win in what this might be the weirdest Kentucky football home game I ever remember. I mean, there was that Arkansas game in the Joker era where it was similar to this, and there was lightning, and they canceled it. But this one might have been weirder, a two-hour-plus delay before it starts, then you get going,
Starting point is 00:03:56 10 minute. Half time. The cameras, you know, it looked like it was being filmed shown on a Nintendo 64 for a little while. Just, Billy, did you watch the game at all on television? I know you're doing the radio broadcast. Did you watch the TV broadcast? I tried, but it was giving me vertigo. It was so strange. It was just so strange. It wasn't even just the video being so far away, but it looked like it was being edited like on someone's phone. Like they would zoom in after the play was over, and it was just so weird. The whole night was weird.
Starting point is 00:04:36 And it'll be one of those games that like in 20 years ago, do you remember how weird that game was? With that said, I actually think Kentucky played really well. I mean, we only get 35 minutes of game action, so we don't get a full game, but they win 31-0, which is a score if I told you before the game, the final score would be 31-0. You almost certainly would have taken it.
Starting point is 00:05:02 For my purposes, the things that stick out are this. First of all, I thought Vandigriff looked very good. I mean, he made good decisions. It was cool to see him running the ball. You know, we had that with Levis. Didn't have it at all with Leary. Now it's nice to have that back. It gives you a threat every time he gets out of the pocket.
Starting point is 00:05:22 And as Mark Stoop said on his postgame comments, I think the thing that makes it him interesting is not only can he run it, he can use his legs to keep himself open to then throw down field, which happened a number of times. The running game was pretty good. You know, the defense, our linebackers are just, they're special, made big plays. You know, Southern Miss's only offense really were three third and longs
Starting point is 00:05:50 where they basically just dumped it off and were able to, to scramble for first downs. Kentucky had two interceptions. The only real mistake, I thought terrible mistake was probably should have been a pick six, but it didn't happen. But otherwise, I mean, I feel
Starting point is 00:06:11 when you consider all that happened tonight, I don't know how you can't be happy. I mean, we set for over two hours. The guys have to sit in the locker room. They come out. The crowd, interested if you were at the game. I want to hear from people who were at the game. 859-2-80-2-807, because I was not.
Starting point is 00:06:30 And we'll talk a little bit about this. The text messages I were getting, that's got to have been one of the strangest situations before the game. But put that aside, the guys sit through all that, then they come out on the field and to play that well, considering all that that's taking place, I think is really impressive. I don't know how you can't be anything but happy. Game was sold out. We, at KS. Barr, that was one of the better atmospheres I can remember for a game outside of, you know, playing LSU or something like it was, people were into it.
Starting point is 00:07:08 I don't know. I generally am very pleased with this first game. As we talked about on the pregame show, there's kind of this narrative that Stoop's teams don't play well in the first game, which was kind of true in the first half of his career. but it's really not been true recently, and I think this is overall a good game. Now, what does it mean for the next week, which is the biggest game of the year against South Carolina?
Starting point is 00:07:29 I don't know. I mean, only having played 35 minutes, it doesn't feel like we got a full review of the team. South Carolina almost lost today to Old Dominion. I'm kind of glad they won, because I think if they had lost, I don't really like how that game sets up for us. Now I think it's a,
Starting point is 00:07:49 they come in here and we got a win and I feel good. I think we'll be the favorite by a decent amount and I feel positive. So 1 and 0, I'm glad they counted the game. Billy, I was worried because I didn't know exactly what the rules were for ending the game, but because both teams agreed that it was the game when it's ended and suspended, the game counts as a win. What do you think happens, Billy, if Southern Miss doesn't agree to that, by the way? You think they just stay out there all night?
Starting point is 00:08:20 Because it's pouring rain. They still wouldn't have started yet if we had waited. Yeah, man, I don't know. I mean, they may come back out here tomorrow, or I guess today. Well, I thought they might do that to begin with. And then I was told that there was no hotel for Southern Miss to stay at. Really? That was the problem?
Starting point is 00:08:37 Well, I mean, they were looking at that as an option, but Southern Miss was going to charter a plane home. Now, they have to, I don't know what, right, like, I'm not sure. if in the last couple of hours you could have flown out of here. So I don't know what, but Southern Miss did not have a place to stay tonight, which was why they couldn't play the game tomorrow. So, I mean, I was getting text from people who were saying, you know, they're even looking at like, could Kentucky move the Murray State game to one of our bye weeks because Southern Miss had a by week the week of our Murray State game?
Starting point is 00:09:13 Like, I mean, there was a lot, I think, on the, you know, being considered during that two-hour delay. because I don't think they thought for a while they were going to be able to get the game off at all. Well, it was just a weird start. I mean, the fans were stuck at the gate and they were sitting there on the metal benches while nobody was on the field. It was just bizarre. You know, I try to have sympathy for people in these situations because until you run something, especially something as massive as that, you know, you don't realize all the logistics involved. So I do have sympathy for the situation. With that said, it really was not handled particularly well.
Starting point is 00:09:58 And UK should probably study what happened tonight as an example of what not to do, especially before the game. I mean, there's not much they can do once the lightning strikes are going. But before the game, you know, first they don't open it because of lightning. But, you know, Billy, it seems like it's a lot worse to be standing out in the parking lot. Yeah. Then it would be to be on the concourse. So then they say they're not going to open it.
Starting point is 00:10:27 Then they tell everybody we're going to open it in five minutes, and then they don't open it for 45 minutes. So all these people are standing outside. Then you let them in and you let them on the concourse, but then they send out a message that says if you're not already in, stay in your car. So I think they got The lesson for UK is they got to do better communicating Because it was clear to me
Starting point is 00:10:52 For messages from people at the game That they didn't know what was going on And if you were online You got messages But the people at the game Don't have cell service a lot of them So I was just getting I mean there's people Billy I haven't talked to in years
Starting point is 00:11:10 Calling me going hey man Is this game happening? Like they're just sitting standing there there in the stadium. So UK's got to, that's got to be better because luckily, you know, there wasn't any lightning or anything at the stadium. But I just think the pregame scenario was not handled well. But then once the game started or once we got to the 745 time, there really wasn't much that could happen. Lightning kept hitting every time I would see lightning outside my door. I'd go, well, there's 30 more minutes. So they got it in, though. That's the
Starting point is 00:11:42 most important thing. Kentucky gets the win and I think looks pretty good in the process and now we set up for next week, which will be maybe the most important game of the season. 859-2802-2-287. What stuck out for you from the game? If you were there, what was it like, especially as you were sitting there trying to figure out what was happening before? And then the text machine is 772-74525 for it. Listen, if you're up this late at night, this will be the first of what, 50 plus postgame shows coming up this school year with football and basketball. But if you're up right now, if you're listening on podcasts, I thank you very much. But if you're up right now listening, now that is a true fan.
Starting point is 00:12:29 859-28027. We will take your calls. Cats win 31-0. A shutout. And it goes in the record books as a shutout. Cats over Southern Miss. We'll take your calls right after this on the local toy dealers, KSR post-game show. Welcome back. It is the local toy dealers KSR postgame show.
Starting point is 00:12:47 85928027. Text machine people writing in. One person says, Matt, I was at the game when the LED lighting came as we were waiting with the music that was special. You know, the thing is, I wasn't surprised at how many people stayed because when you're in a situation like that where it's kind of miserable, but everybody is suffering it together. there can be something kind of fun about that actually. And I think the fact that it wasn't raining yet, you know, nothing was, yet nothing was going on. I actually think made some people just be like, this is just ridiculous, let's just have fun with it. I mean, everybody I know that went to the game stayed. So, but I do think there was a situation. like the time period from about 630 to 8 o'clock
Starting point is 00:13:43 where it seemed like things were not good there. But then once they let people in, I think that did make it a little better. But yeah, I'm not going to be outraged, but I do think that's one UK is going to have to study to maybe handle better in the future. 859-28027. We got people on.
Starting point is 00:14:03 I know apparently WLAP took a minute to switch over. I'm going to give everybody great. Grace. Billy, you said it wasn't your fault, so that's good. But it's really late at night, so we got it fixed. And, uh, yeah. So we're now, I think, on all of our stations. So let's get started. Who's up first? That was the alien show messing with us this late at night. That alien show, the fact that that alien show is still on the air is one of the most amazing things. I will say to people when this goes off with the alien show still be on? Probably. Yeah. Okay. You got to listen to a few minutes of it. It's on LAP and H. It's crazy. All right. First up.
Starting point is 00:14:37 Chris. Chris, go ahead, Chris. We were there tonight, and, you know, like you said, it was kind of ridiculous. We weren't getting any updates while at the game, but, you know, we were just kind of going with the flow of things, but I just, in my eyes, I thought it was just kind of weird how stoops would, you know, maybe it wasn't stoops, but the game playing was kind of get Brock running, you know, to kind of start out. it just kind of makes you think two years ago when we thought we had a really good team with Levis and whatnot,
Starting point is 00:15:17 but that he didn't let him run around. And I think. Well, remember he got hurt, though. He got hurt, though. I mean, they were, he was running around. He was running around those first few games. Then he got hurt at Ole Miss, and then they took away him running. But part of the reason he got hurt at Ole Miss was because he ran so much.
Starting point is 00:15:34 It felt like he didn't run as much, and he was kind of a sitting duck in the pocket, because our O line wasn't all that great. I'm sorry, we lost you there. You're breaking up. Yeah, I mean, look, Brock took four huge hits on the first two drives of the game. And I think they probably said to him, hey, dude, got to watch it. Because the next few times he tended to act like he was going to run and then throw a pass. You know, a couple years ago, I think that was a weird situation, though, with Will.
Starting point is 00:16:09 because they wanted to keep him healthy because they knew if they didn't, we would stink. And that's exactly what happened. He got hurt, and then we couldn't move the ball at all. So, you know, I thought Brock looked really good. He can't take hits like that all year, so hopefully that won't continue. But I was generally pretty happy with it. I also think we can't overly judge the offensive game playing, because we only really got to see, you know, a half and five minutes of it.
Starting point is 00:16:44 And they probably also were holding things back until the South Carolina game. So I don't know how much we can judge. Like, what is the Bush-Hamden offense going to be? I don't know how much we can know that yet at this point. We'll know a lot more at this time next week after we play South Carolina. Who's next? Matt. Matt, go ahead, Matt.
Starting point is 00:17:05 Yes, a non-game question, but how does Draft Kings handle the bets? You know, it's up to them. I have seen some people say that they have already like voided it, but here's the thing about that. That's generally how it works, and then they like, because they, once they pay it out, they can't get it back. So generally what they do is they void it until they make a decision. So my guess is they'll make a decision tomorrow.
Starting point is 00:17:33 So if it's voided right now, which some people say it is, that doesn't mean it'll stay like that. They'll make a decision. Generally speaking, sportsbooks have the rule that a game has to go 55 minutes to count. That's generally what they do. I have cats at 33.5. Yeah. So see, it's people like you, why I'm not sure what they're going to do. Because you have to think of alt spreads.
Starting point is 00:18:01 So I don't know. Generally speaking, the rule is it's got to go 55 minutes, but they will make exceptions for that. And so I don't know what they're going to do. And it's not just, I mean, all the sports books make their own decisions, but it'll, but you'll either win, I know you know this, but some people may not. You'll either win if you bet Kentucky or it'll just be voided and it'll be like you didn't bet it. But go ahead.
Starting point is 00:18:22 Well, I appreciate the call. Thank you. Appreciate it. So, yeah, that's the question. I knew you could tell Billy how much people play draft kings, but how many times I've been asked that question online so far. That's what we care about. But generally speaking, the rule is it's got a game's got to go 55 minutes.
Starting point is 00:18:39 But like I said, that doesn't mean sometimes they vary from that. So, I don't know. On draft games, yours did? Okay, well, other people told me theirs was voided. I don't know. I don't know. The short answer is I don't know, but I would say whatever they've done right now, if yours is cash, they're not going to go back and take your money from you.
Starting point is 00:19:00 But if yours is voided, I would say wait until. tomorrow and they'll give you like a final final answer what's next steve steve go ahead steve hey man how you doing doing good i don't know if it's kentucky's rule the cc's rule i don't know but it was so stupid i went to the game tonight that for two hours before the game started we could sit in aluminum bleachers but it could not hold an aluminum can worth of beer the beer rule is stupid The beer rule is stupid. So the lightning rule is an SEC rule. Nothing Kentucky can do about that.
Starting point is 00:19:40 If there's lightning seen within eight miles of the stadium, they can't play for 30 minutes. So there was nothing they could do about that. I will say to you, I do not understand the idea that during a lightning delay, you can't have beer. I mean, I don't even know what the logic of that is. It really doesn't make any sense. So I can understand why people were frustrated with that. Yeah, it did make a lot of sense. I think we probably got our money's worth once the players got on the field.
Starting point is 00:20:10 You could tell as soon as Varyon came out out of the tunnel, once they were allowed to start warm-ups, he was the most hype person coming out on the field. I told my buddies right away he's going to score a touchdown. Obviously, he went on to score two. But, yeah, overall, pretty excited about the team. again, similar to the last person. I've got a five-leg parlay that's going to cash for $1,000, but Kentucky needs to get 35 points.
Starting point is 00:20:41 So I'm kind of pissed about the result right now. Yeah. That would be tough. But see, that's the thing. Okay, so you're a perfect example of why it's tough for them. Because if they count yours as a loss, you're going to lose. If they count, if they don't have the game, then you'll hit a four leg. You see what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:21:01 like, that's why it's a tough decision for them, because there's going to be people like you that if they count the game, you'll be angry. Well, four of the five legs were on the Kentucky game. Oh, you'll lose them all. Okay, well, never mind. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. But, yeah, I mean, I'll take a void, I guess. But still, it's kind of like, you know, and no bets, not $1,000.
Starting point is 00:21:25 But whatever, either way, I'm ready to rock out with my Brockout this season. I like it. I like that phrase. I'll be honest with you. I appreciate the call. Yeah, I don't understand. Billy, what do you think about that rule of the beer?
Starting point is 00:21:37 That doesn't make any sense to me at all. I don't get the, like if you can go sit on the bleachers, why can't you have a beer? Yeah, I'm not sure. I mean, maybe you're preventing people from getting too rowdy before the game even starts,
Starting point is 00:21:48 but you're already selling the beer. So you got to expect that. You know what? That's probably the reason. That's probably the reason because they think if there's a delight and people will just get hammered there. And I would.
Starting point is 00:21:59 Yeah. Well, what, that's probably what the reason is. But I can tell you this. There was a moment where I was thinking, Billy, we were headed towards Conca Calf final situation there. I mean, if you could have seen the messages people were sending me, I was like, oh man, I hope this doesn't end up bad.
Starting point is 00:22:20 I think they ended up letting the teams come out probably about the right time before tensions were. That's just from what I'm seeing. If you were at the game, people may have seen something different. But just the messages I was getting, I was starting to think, like, I went down to the bar, and I was kind of telling people at the bar, look, if they cancel this game, people may be coming in here wild. And then, of course, they ended up playing. Who's next?
Starting point is 00:22:46 Well, the equipment managers would come out, and everybody would start cheering like a touchdown. It just happened. And then it would, well, then they go back in the time. They would get lightning and they have to go right back in. Yeah. What's next? Jordan. Jordan.
Starting point is 00:22:56 Jordan. Go ahead, Jordan. Hey Matt, I think the cameraman had all those blue lights with the way the camera was shaking. I don't know. The camera situation. I mean, for those of you at the game, like halfway through the first quarter, Tom Hart comes on there and says, all of our cameramen have had to leave because of light. Now, Billy, I don't understand that either.
Starting point is 00:23:17 Like, if the cameraman had to leave because of lightning, well, how are they playing? I don't know how that had. The fans were still there. Yeah, and the players were playing. And then they had this angle. Apparently what they did is the SEC network cameras were off, and they were using the UK All-22 feed, which is what they used for scouting. It's what I was told.
Starting point is 00:23:39 I don't know this for sure. And that's why it looked like you were watching from the moon. It was so weird. But go ahead, sir. Two quick things. One, I like how the offense was split between rushing and passing. and I do think Vandergriff looked well. Can I ask a relationship advice question?
Starting point is 00:24:01 What do you think, Billy? I mean, it's late enough. It's late enough. It's 1.48 in the morning. Okay, so go ahead. Well, it's long distance. Met this girl, long story short, she came in town because of a friend. She came in town.
Starting point is 00:24:15 We really hit it off, and I actually talked to her the entire time we watched the game. I wasn't able to hide it. Um, because the timing, how do you, hang on, she came into town. Did she come in town to see you? Is that why she was in town? No, she came in town to see her friend and a friend group. And she and I haven't had that much fun talking to somebody since I can remember. And if you don't mind me asking, how old are you?
Starting point is 00:24:44 I'm 26. Okay, so you're hanging out with the friend group. You, you came in town for something else. You all watched the game. So go ahead. What's your question? Well, I live in, she came to Georgia. I live in Georgia, but we talked to the entire time in the game.
Starting point is 00:25:00 And I don't know, it's not easy because she lives in Iowa. Oh, you can do it. You can do it. I mean, long-distance relationships. Long-distance relationships will work as much as you want them to work. That's what I always say. So I appreciate the call. If you like her, it will work.
Starting point is 00:25:23 I was in a long distance relationship for a long time. And you can make it work. Now, Georgia and Iowa, I don't know how many direct flights there are. Although if you're in Atlanta, Billy, there'll be a direct flight to Iowa, right? Yeah. Yeah. You know it Delta? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:25:35 It's about the effort you put in, right? It's all, that's exactly right. Everything is doable if you have the desire. Sounds like a T-shirt. By the way, how about Vanderbilt's win today? Yeah, big way. Vanderbilt. The ACC sticks.
Starting point is 00:25:52 I mean, Florida State loses. Virginia Tech loses. Clemson gets destroyed. Miami, I picked Miami to win the conference. That looks pretty good today. What's next? Another Jordan. Jordan.
Starting point is 00:26:07 Go ahead, Jordan. Hey, Matt. So I would like to say, you know, Game Cup, it went short today. But Brock Vandergriff, man, he's got a cannon. on him and he loves the run. He loves the run. And he throws it pretty well on the move too. I thought what was interesting is, like he had it, he threw it pretty well on the move.
Starting point is 00:26:29 He had one bad throw that could have been a pick six, but I thought otherwise he actually threw the ball pretty well. Other than that, he's got, he's got, he's got the move on a man. He can dock and, you know, duck and dodge people and he can do what he wants to do. So. Yeah. No, listen, I like him right. that when he took his helmet off, he looks like he looks like he could be working in Clay County
Starting point is 00:26:54 with that long hair and the mustache and all that. But he plays like, I thought he played really well. A couple bad decisions, but otherwise I thought he played pretty well. But not really, man. It's a Richie Farmer effect. He does. You know, just get out there and do your thing. That's right.
Starting point is 00:27:12 I appreciate the call. That's what Richie did. He just went out there and did his thing. 859-280-22. All right, we're going to do, Billy, you told me that 2 a.m. The computer shuts down. Is that what happens? The aliens get even more involved, Matt, with our equipment specifically.
Starting point is 00:27:28 No, but tell people, I mean, people are up. They like to know these things. What happens at 2 a.m.? So our logs, I guess, turn over for the next day at 2 a.m. And so if we have a show that started the day before and goes through that 2.m. part, it just deletes all of our commercials. So we have some people standing by that are going to reload the log. at 2 a.m. right when it happens. So hopefully we don't. So here's what, why don't we do this?
Starting point is 00:27:52 Because you told me this would be easier and I want to make this easier for you. We will take a break now so that we can do the show through the 2 a.m. changeover. Is that right? Yes, that should be best. All right. So we're going to take a break right now. And then we'll come back. We'll have a long third segment so that Billy's logs can be turned, which is what he likes to do at this time and not usually. This is the local Toyota dealers, KSR post game show. It is the local Toronto New York. KSR postgame show heading towards 2 a.m. in Kentucky.
Starting point is 00:28:28 Billy, we're talking about the five hours of pregame that had to be killed earlier tonight. Billy, you played the UK U of L game from last year? Oh, my gosh. I mean, we just, they had no idea what they wanted to do because we had so much time we had to fill. You had a lot of time to fill. So we played the whole Mark Stoop show. We played half a BDN radio. You filled from 530 to 10 at night, right?
Starting point is 00:28:53 Yeah, yeah, 530 to 10.05 kickoff. My goodness. And then at one point, when it delayed during the game, we just put on the UK U of L game from last year. I love it. All right, well, this is going to allow your logs to clear. 859-28027. One person writes,
Starting point is 00:29:13 Matt, we already have you giving relationship advice about a couple from Georgia and Iowa. These are the post-game shows I love. Me too. I agree. One person says, Matt, he needs to get the woman to move to Georgia from Iowa. If she lives in Iowa, she'll certainly move somewhere else. I would agree with that.
Starting point is 00:29:33 You don't want to live in Iowa. So what I would say to the lady is I think you need to go on more than one date with her before you say this to her. But Georgia's got to be more fun than Iowa, I would think. I can't imagine Iowa's a fun place to live. Who's next? Corey. Corey, how are you, Corey? Matt, this has got to be one of the weirdest weekends of football I've ever experienced.
Starting point is 00:29:58 Okay. Last night, last night I met the Bullitt East game. Here comes Shannon the dude. Walks right past. Yeah. Drunk guy gets arrested in the parking lot. I have a high school football game. Then we go down to Lexington today.
Starting point is 00:30:15 And I'm a club blue member. so we go up, we meet Jackson Robinson, and I guess we weren't in the top tiers to be able to get autographs or whatever. But Jackson asked, because I had my nephew and my son and one of his friends, Jackson asked if he wanted to go ahead and get them signed, and we were like, sure, well, Club Blue Lady says,
Starting point is 00:30:41 no, no, no, no, like she was the police, so she had to stop that, and Jackson was like it was my idea. So then go inside the game, chaos before the gates, and no information going into the game. Yeah. Yeah, that's really an unfortunate. Yeah. You know, some things can't be helped, but they got to do a better job of getting people information because, you know, all those people stand. First of all, you guys, especially with no cell service, don't even know what the weather is.
Starting point is 00:31:14 So, like, you know, there had to be a sense of a period of time where you weren't even sure why you weren't being let in, right? Oh, it was, it was odd. And then once we got in there, it was like nobody knew anything. So, like, some people was getting, like, self-service. Some people wasn't. My brother went missing, and I come to find out, he was the third person in the beer line, just waiting to get beer this whole time. And I'm like, dude, how long are you going to stand there?
Starting point is 00:31:40 And then we have it. It's not safe for the players to be on the field, but we can put 60,000 people inside metal bleachers. Then, once the game was even called at the end of it all, all of a sudden inclement weather was there, so we all had to clear the bleachers. Not that anybody was going to wait that final delay out anyway. Yeah, boy, that would have been interesting. I'm like, man, this is odd. Can you believe I appreciate the call what it would have been like after if they had played? Like, there would have been nobody there.
Starting point is 00:32:11 like nobody. There would have been like, you know, a hundred people there. It would have been like the White Sox game today. Yeah, I don't know. I mean, at the bar, we were on pace for maybe our biggest day ever if the game does it. But then, like, people, it was the bar was a lot like the game. People didn't want to stay and wait. And when I went at like 930, you know, most people had left because they just didn't want to wait for the game.
Starting point is 00:32:38 So just it was weird. That's the best way to put it. It was weird. I'm also told, I just got a text on the text machine that said, when game is out was over, the police left. So there was no one to clear the traffic.
Starting point is 00:32:53 I just got out of the parking lot 20 minutes ago. What a disaster. Like the police are like, you know what? We're done. You would have gotten out and started directing traffic at that way. Listen, if I was in that, you know how much I hate traffic to begin with.
Starting point is 00:33:09 Yes, I would, well, first of all, I would have driven over the barriers. Yes, that's true. And secondly, I would have gone crazy. Who's next? Nancy. Nancy, go ahead, Nancy. Hey, Matt. So I went to the game.
Starting point is 00:33:23 I'm really excited about the team, but UK didn't tell us what was going on when the game was going to start. They did let us watch the Texas A&M Notre Dame game. Then they cut it off and then they had that big sign. Okay, we're going to have another report at 935. But you got to give the fans credit. because they stayed. They stayed and they were active and they were excited. And yeah, so we're true blue.
Starting point is 00:33:49 Yeah, I think that's a very important point. And I'm glad you said it. I appreciate the call. You do have to give our fans a lot of credit. Because I would have thought a lot of them might have left and then they didn't. And, you know, I think very few people left before the game started. I think some left at halftime and then everybody left with five minutes left. But you got to give the fans a lot of credit for how many people stayed, persevered,
Starting point is 00:34:16 how many students stayed? Like when they showed the student section when the game started, I would have thought most of them would have said that's enough. It looked like it was mostly full. So, yes, you got to give all those people a lot of credit. And again, just an example of how nobody knew what was going on. I mean, our traffic on our website was like record traffic, and it's just people trying to figure out what was happening.
Starting point is 00:34:38 you know and you just you can't have a situation where the people most affected by what's going on which are the people at the stadium have no idea what's going on like you you just can't have that situation what's next peyton payton go ahead Peyton uh hey man I got two things uh first thing is I didn't like the light and delay because my hangover started by the time the game started I can see that. What time did you start today? About one. Okay.
Starting point is 00:35:12 Well, that's, yeah, and it's now 2 a.m. So you're still hanging on. We alive. Second, I thought Brock, he looked real good. You kind of mentioned earlier. He looked very good throwing on the run. Yeah. And the way he could extend plays, I'm highly impressed with that.
Starting point is 00:35:29 And I think it's going to, you know, kind of levacy. you know, how he could have rode it. Oh, I thought, listen, I agree with you. It kind of did remind me. I mean, he also has Levis's knack for not sliding, which I think he needs to learn to do. All right, go to bed. I appreciate it. He, you know, he impressed me throughout.
Starting point is 00:35:50 And they have so many weapons, man. I mean, you got to see Macklin make a couple big catches today. Barron had two touchdowns. Dane had a long pass. You know, he got to finally got a tight-in touchdown, which doesn't happen a lot at the school. And then I was impressed with Kumo, the running back. He had a couple big runs. And then Wilcox, one of the, what is with Mike Gundy's hair?
Starting point is 00:36:10 Wilcox had a great run as well. Look at Mike Gundy's hair, Billy. Are you looking at that? No, I'm watching Arizona, New Mexico, and whatever that coach has on his neck. Is that a wig? Mike Gundy wears? Well, he's a man. Look at that hair.
Starting point is 00:36:26 That doesn't look real. All right. Anyway, go ahead. Who's next? Jimmy. Jimmy, go ahead. Jimmy. Matt, Matt.
Starting point is 00:36:36 Jimmy was going to stay for the whole game and we got kicked out by Bar-Hardt. So you were going to stay the whole time? You were going to stay no matter what? There was probably 35 people left in the bowl when we got asked to leave. I would love.
Starting point is 00:36:52 I think it would have been awesome if they came back and played and there were 35 people in there. That would have been, that that would have been a special moment for those 35, though. Oh, oh, you would have heard me. I would have been loud. Well, good.
Starting point is 00:37:06 Let me tell you, let me tell you about the weirdest thing I saw tonight. And this is a lot considering what we went through. So I just left the Waffle House. And I'm pretty full, but I saw a purple wizard. There was somebody dressed as a Purple Wizard? No, I think they were a purple wizard. I don't know what was going on, Matt. Well, the Waffle House at 2A.
Starting point is 00:37:30 Were you at the one on Georgetown Road? Nicholasville Waffle House. Okay, well, that one's not as crazy. You tend to be more normal. Well, still, though, 2 a.m. at the Waffle House, you're going to get a lot. I know. Jimmy was confused. I appreciate it.
Starting point is 00:37:46 Appreciate the call. You know who I used to see, Billy at the Waffle House after midnight, like a couple days a week? Who's that? Nazi Muhammad when he played here. When I was in college, we would go either to the Waffle House or to Perkins. Do you remember Perkins? Are you too young for Perkins? No, never went to a Perkins.
Starting point is 00:38:04 There was a Perkins on Richmond Road right next to what used to be the mall there, which I believe was called Turflin Mall or Richmond? I don't know. And then now it's a church, but there was a Perkins. And Naze Mohamed, he was a late-night eater because you could see him at one of those places all the time. And then he stopped doing that and he lost a lot of weight and ended up in the NBA. So I don't know what the lesson is there, but I just thought you wouldn't know that. Who's next?
Starting point is 00:38:33 Jay Rock. Jay Rock. How are you, Jay Rock? Hey, what's up, y'all? I'm just so happy to be back on the local Toyota dealers, Billy R. Sport's host game show. Welcome, Jay Rock. Yeah, Billy, you've been great. A couple things. I'm glad Ryan's okay.
Starting point is 00:38:49 And your new guy, Mario, he is a gym, a diamond in the rough. He's going to be awesome. Yeah, he's great. I do have three things for you, Matthew. Okay. After all this time that you've been out. what's her name? Hala.
Starting point is 00:39:07 There's nobody's name, I promise. I went to Dork Camp and Europe, which is it. But we're back now. I don't have, I don't think I have anything else except games the rest of the year, so we're good.
Starting point is 00:39:20 Who's next? One of those games is in Austin. Yeah, I don't know if I'm going to go to that one because we're going to take our trip the next week to Gonzaga. Are you going to go to that, by the way? You're going to do your first road trip for KSRI this year? If you tell Gus to run the broadcast for me, I'll come with you, but I've got to be here.
Starting point is 00:39:36 That's true. Well, we'll miss you. But on the postgame show at. I already have a place for us that we're going to do the show at a ranch in San Diego in South Dakota one day. Really? Yeah, I have a friend who had one of the guys in Dorkamp. He has former lieutenant. He ran for lieutenant governor, I think, of South Dakota.
Starting point is 00:39:55 And he has a ranch, and we're going to do the show on his ranch. So how about that? Well, as long as you wear a cowboy hat when you do that show, I'd be. Yeah, I don't know if I do that. He's an interesting guy. He used to be a professional rodeo rider. So who's next? Josh.
Starting point is 00:40:09 Josh, go ahead, Josh. Hey, Matt, first time, long time. Who are? What's up? So I think my main takeaway from tonight is the offensive line. Yes. They seem to be kind of giving up a lot of pressure on the quarterback. They did at first.
Starting point is 00:40:27 I thought they did. I agree with you in the first two drives. But then I think that they're, they kind of, but remember, if you, if you, if you listen to pregame, Luckett said the Southern Miss defensive line was their strength, that that was, that he thought it was a low-level SEC defensive line. And he said that might be the weakness. He called that.
Starting point is 00:40:49 But then I thought after the first couple drives, he did a pretty good job. You know, there was one player that I think did not play well. And, you know, I'll give them some grace. We won't call them out. but I think he had a lot of mistakes. But I thought a lot of the other guys kind of settled down. But I agree with you in the first couple drives. That was a concern.
Starting point is 00:41:10 But I think that got better as the game went on. I think you're right. You know, being at the game, I think it kind of showed, you know, not to single anybody out or anything. But like you said, maybe one person in particular didn't play great. But, you know, first game of the season. Yeah, hopefully it'll be better. We'll know a lot more next week.
Starting point is 00:41:31 South Carolina has a pretty good defensive line. I appreciate the call. But I did feel like, you know, we were able to run the ball pretty consistently. So that's a good sign. But, yeah, there was, at the beginning of the game, I thought they were giving up way too much pressure, but I do think that got better. 859-280-2287.
Starting point is 00:41:54 I'm telling you, a group of fans, like, still folks on the phone. And Billy wants to go home, but I'm, you know, we can wait, Billy, you got nothing to do tomorrow. You don't have to even have to be on ESPN tomorrow like I do, so you can handle it. That's a quick turnaround for you. Yeah, I mean, I'm going to be on the radio in less than eight hours on ESPN. Who's next? Kelly.
Starting point is 00:42:12 Kelly, go ahead, Kelly. Hey, Matt, first time, long time. Who are? We're in New York City. We watched the U.S. Open tonight and then watch the game on our phone. I thought it was a good win for the cats, offense. By the way, speaking to the U.S. Open before you go on while I'm thinking of it. Taylor Diallo, who plays.
Starting point is 00:42:30 or is that, no, his name's not Taylor. What's his first name? The Diallo guy. Diollo's first name. I couldn't tell you. Diallo played. He played tennis at Kentucky. He lost today to Taylor Fritz, which is why I said Taylor,
Starting point is 00:42:46 in the third round of the U.S. Open. It's the farthest of Kentucky players made it since 2008, and it was his career best performance. So a big shout out. Gabriel Diallo, former UK tennis. Tommy Paul. Tommy Paul, not Taylor Fritz. Well, four Americans in the Final 16, the most in many years for the U.S. All right, so go ahead. Yeah, just a quick question, kind of focusing on South Carolina a little bit. They struggled with Old Dominion tonight, and we've talked about the importance of next week's game and how, you know, we've struggled with South Carolina in the past. Do you think this makes next week's game look a little bit easier for us? Or what are your thoughts on it?
Starting point is 00:43:24 I don't know. I mean, yes. Well, I appreciate the call. If you would listen to South Carolina fans, They were saying that they were great this year. And I think that is clearly not true. You don't almost lose to Old Dominion for great. I expect them to play much better against us next week. And, you know, I think we'll be favored. If I had to guess, I think we'll be favored by five and a half, six, something like that. We'll see.
Starting point is 00:43:57 And I like Kentucky in the game. But, you know, I don't know. Well, the South Carolina games have been weird the last few years. Three or four years ago, I thought they were going to beat us. We kind of handled them easily. Two years ago, we couldn't move the ball because Levis was hurt and we lost. And then last year, I felt like that's a game that was kind of a poor performance by Kentucky. The good thing is, Mark Stoops cannot stand Beamer and that team, so they will be ready to play.
Starting point is 00:44:25 And my guess is they've spent a lot of off-season prep time on South Carolina, knowing how important that game was. So I think Kentucky is going to be ready. Let's do one more, and we'll take our final break. Who's next? DW. DW, what's up? Hey, what's going on, you guys?
Starting point is 00:44:41 I can't believe I actually found the time to get on here. So what an absolute crazy night. I mean, I don't even know what to say. Like, from the beer not selling to the every time lightning strikes, they say 30 minutes until beer sells. But let me just say, number 8. his name starts with a D. I don't know exactly.
Starting point is 00:45:02 I can't remember, but his family was down there at the catwalk until like 10 p.m. waiting for that dude to come out. And I just thought that showed so much dedication. That was insane. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:45:14 Just so many emotions from, I was at the game. And it was just the weirdest experience I've ever had. I'm sure. Yeah. A game. I mean, I...
Starting point is 00:45:26 Go ahead. Yeah, go ahead. No, you're good. It's just, I mean, like, from standing there and then the blue coat's telling you you couldn't buy beer and then just everybody's lingering around and the lightning's going on, people are still able to sit in the stands, but they can't get drunk. Like, I don't understand. I don't know. Well, it sounds like you had had fun. I'm not sure.
Starting point is 00:45:47 Who's number 18, Billy? I appreciate the call. Who's he talking about? There's a Cam Dooley. That's a freshman on Kentucky's roster. Dooley. Dooley. So you're saying, well, so Dooley's parents love him, right?
Starting point is 00:45:59 Yeah, their entire family. I mean, they had to have at least 10 people out there standing until, I mean, until the place shut down or whatever. Well, good. Well, I appreciate it, man. Thank you for the call. Enjoy the rest of your night. Yeah, thank you. And, you know, we've got to Cam Dooley.
Starting point is 00:46:16 Now that's one thing we know about him, that his family loves it. Great family. 859-2-802-287. When we come back, we'll do our final segment. Billy's going to cue up the old Dillard song Dooley. I hope you have that ready, Billy. And we will take a break, be right back. This is the local toilet dealers, KSR post game show.
Starting point is 00:46:39 Do you know that song, Billy? I've heard it before, but I couldn't tell you what it's from. You probably heard it on our show. Yeah, I think so. Because he says the word swaller, which is, have you ever had a swallor of moonshine? That's what he's singing about. Oh, okay.
Starting point is 00:46:56 No. Well, yeah, I guess I have. You have. Did you call it a swallor? No, I did not, but. So when he said Dooley trying to earn a dollar truly, Dooley give me a swallor, did you know what, did you even know what he was talking about? No, no, it's like a different language.
Starting point is 00:47:11 Well, listen, turn out. I have had some moonshap. Here you go. There you go. Now you learn something, right? I usually do learn something, whether it be UK trivia or. Okay, good. Reggie Hansen, not being the first African American player at Kentucky.
Starting point is 00:47:29 That's correct. You've learned a lot on this show. And now you've learned the, uh, definition of swaller 859 280 2287 what person writes matt the guy was right there was no police presence after the game it literally was like mad max trying to get out of the stadium i think i've gone from now thinking it was kind of a train wreck to thinking it was kind of awesome you know what it's like if society it's it's like a if you were at that game tonight you will always remember the experience, right?
Starting point is 00:48:03 Because there's so many weird things that happened, you will always remember the experience. And I want to thank everybody that came to the bar before the game, because the bar was awesome today. It really was. A lot of, very cool. And, you know, keep Ryan in your thoughts. He's still,
Starting point is 00:48:18 he's still struggling a little bit. He was a gamer today for the show, but he's not feeling the best. So everybody, keep Ryan in your thoughts. Hopefully he'll be, we'll be off Monday, but hopefully he'll be there on Tuesday. Who's next? RT.
Starting point is 00:48:33 RT. How are you RT? Hey, how we doing, buddy? Doing good. Good. I just wanted to give you a shout. I wish I could have been at the game tonight, unfortunately, or fortunately, I'm on my way to vacation in Florida, passing through something called Riverview, Alabama.
Starting point is 00:48:50 Okay, sounds beautiful. Yeah, absolutely. Just wanted to say from what I could tell, obviously, I could watch it, but listening to it, It sounds like we've played a program, if you consider that we lost to that same team less than a decade ago. And tonight seemed like we just used talent to just beat them. Yeah, no, I think you're right. And what was interesting is normally in games like this, you know, your offensive line just beats up their defensive line and you just kind of do whatever you want. I'm not sure that's what happened tonight.
Starting point is 00:49:23 I think we beat them because we actually played pretty well and we executed pretty well. We didn't, you know, when we play Murray State or whoever going to play at the year, we're just going to run right over. Like, we didn't do that, but we still were able to execute plays, and I think that's a good son. No, I'm excited for going into next week against South Carolina and moving forward. I think the ceiling on this team is pretty high, and the floor may be high as well. Yeah, I agree with you.
Starting point is 00:49:50 I mean, look, appreciate the call. Starting to enjoy Frugerville or whatever. starting next week if you win this game next week i think the season opens up for you in the sense of you can start dreaming some big dreams you got to win next week and then i think george is almost a free game because like they're they're awesome i mean they absolutely pounded clemson and billy i take no joy in the fact dabo lost oh yes you do uh and lost 34 to three he deserved it it though. Dude's been so stubborn about his stupid little won't take transfers.
Starting point is 00:50:30 Well, now this is what you get because, you know, they may have played themselves out of the playoff because if they lose one more game and they've played Georgia and lost by 30, like they're not going to get a bit over some other team. So he deserves it, though. Got to change with the times, Davo, and he has not done it. Who's next? Heather. Heather, go ahead, Heather.
Starting point is 00:50:54 Well, I've been sitting here singing Dooley. Ever since the guy brought his name up before you even said it, I was singing Dooley because I grew up on Andy Griffiths too. That's right. All those Andy Griffith songs, Ebo Walker, he was a good old man. So all kinds of good Andy Griffith songs of the Dillers. Yeah. My mom's favorite is the one where she sings the grassy dog. No, no, no.
Starting point is 00:51:25 It was the slower one that was more of a lot. Oh, yeah, when he's like, it said all, what makes him cry. Like the dad always. Yeah, the grass is greener on the other side. Billy has no idea what we're talking about. But go ahead. Well, it's been such a long night. I was going to also say that Brock reminded me a little bit of Will Leavis,
Starting point is 00:51:46 just the way he was running and not sliding and being so physical when he did. ground. It's fun to watch that and it's exciting and it's like, you know, I think fans really enjoy when a player does that, but it also is dangerous because we can't lose him. And so there's a big part of me that was going, hey man, I love the, love the thought, but go ahead and slide sometimes. Yeah, it scared me a lot after he had done it two, three times. But I just wanted to say, I'm excited that it started. I am glad Ryan was feeling. and beat her today to come on the show and I ain't gotten any other thing to say. All right.
Starting point is 00:52:28 Well, I ain't gotten any other. Thank you very much. Good night. I appreciate the call. Pull up Ebo Walker, Billy. It's 2.30 the morning. What do you care? How many people we got on the phone?
Starting point is 00:52:38 Four? Five. We got five. We'll do those five and that'll be it. Who's next? What am I looking up? Ebo Walker. Go ahead.
Starting point is 00:52:45 Ebo Walker? Yeah. We're going to sing it. That's the name of the song. And we're going to sing it like it's Dion Walker. Okay, Evo D. Who's next? All right.
Starting point is 00:52:55 Mike. Mike, go ahead, Mike. Hey, man, how you doing? Good. What's up? Well, you know, I was thinking about that the game tonight and, you know, and Brock, you know, if he's going to keep running the ball like he did early on, and I guess he kind of caught, caught wind that he doesn't need to do that.
Starting point is 00:53:13 But doing that against SEC competition, he's not. No, he'll get hurt. You can't do that. He'll get hurt. I mean, that's what happened to will, right? Like, you can't do that. And they must have said something to him because of the, you know, there were plays later in the game where he had the same situation he did early and he chose not to
Starting point is 00:53:28 run. Was he a five-star quarterback? He was. That's going to be the will he played wide receiver, I think. Yeah. Well, if he is, I mean, he can, he throws a nice ball. No, he was. Oh, I thought you were kidding because they say a lot.
Starting point is 00:53:42 Yes, he is a five-star. Yes, he was a five-star recruit. And remember, he got beat out at Georgia by Stetson Bennett, who won two national titles, and Carson Beck, who could be the top five draft pick this year. So he got beat out by some pretty good dudes. The only other thing is talking about communication at the stadium. Out in the parking lots, cell service is awful. I would rather spend money on improving cell service in the parking lots
Starting point is 00:54:09 rather than the LED lights in the stadium because they're cool, but they really don't help you in it. Yeah, and you got to get, I like the lights. I think, you know, I've talked to Mitch before. about the Wi-Fi issue. It's apparently a huge expense. They have to try to figure out, is it worth it for eight days a year?
Starting point is 00:54:28 I get all that. But there's got to... Not like the night. But they just... Exactly. You've got to have a situation where... I mean, it can't be a situation where literally, like, at one point,
Starting point is 00:54:41 a buddy of mine was around 100 people and called me, got through so that he could ask me if the game was going to be played so that all the people around him could know. That can't be the situation. You know, it has to be... It's got to be something better than that.
Starting point is 00:54:54 We go to our entrance gate, and then people are backed up, you know, way back in the parking lot, and you don't know why. You finally get through and you get to your ramp, and they won't let you up, and you don't know why. And it was just a cluster. Yeah, I understand that. I appreciate the call. I mean, that makes sense. If I've been there, I'd have been frustrated. I mean, I'd have been very frustrated, so I can understand why the people there got to them.
Starting point is 00:55:19 Who's next? Ebo Walker. All right, go for it. It's the same group. So you like that, Billy? It's all right. See, he left Kentucky because his daddy said, Dern your hide.
Starting point is 00:55:42 What if your daddy had said, Dern your hide? Would you have left? I would have to leave, I think. Exactly. That's what happened to Evo Walker. Who's next? Anthony.
Starting point is 00:55:51 Anthony, go ahead, Anthony. I'll try to be very fast, Matt. I'm tired. It was a great night tonight. I was there at the game. A lot of people were like, are we going to leave? Are we going to leave?
Starting point is 00:56:00 I do think, I hope that a lot of people will be calling the universe. If they do what they said they were going to do the other night, they're going to make a lot of calls on Monday. You also might have the orange lot parking issue. I don't know what you know about that. What happened with that? Somebody told me there was something, but what was it? It's just essentially, to make long story short,
Starting point is 00:56:22 they've had to move some people to the purple lot and other lots. So there's with the construction going on on campus, which you're aware of they're going to have to do some stuff with that. I'm not 100% sure. But just one last thing I wanted to say, other weird games that I've been to as far as at Commonwealth Kroger, 2003 Louisville, we had to wait for a very long time because it kept raining and raining. And then, of course, you know this one very well as to Matt, Arkansas, and I'll agree that same
Starting point is 00:56:49 season. Yeah, that Arkansas one was ridiculous. Yeah, I appreciate to call that. That was the Lorenzen and Matt Jones game, which broke. my heart. I was in Washington, D.C. for during that game, and I'm screaming in a bar, rooting for Jared, and I lost my namesake. Who's next? Brandon. Brandon. Go ahead, Brandon.
Starting point is 00:57:12 Hey, Matt. I don't want to beat the dead horse, but the lineman that kind of let things abide was one that I thought was going to be a strength this year. Yeah, I did too. But, you know, look, it's one guy, it's one game. You know, one of the plays where he let a guy by, turned out the guy was offside. So, like, you know, I mean, I'm going to give him some grace, but you're right. He's, he was kind of considered to be one of our strengths, and he's going to have to play better. The other thing was at the end, the head butt, like, if you're going to let Southern
Starting point is 00:57:48 Miss get in your head, that's a problem. That was dumb. Now George will pick on that or whoever. And that's a special teams player. Like, you can't do that, man. Like, you cost them 15 yards. And Stoops clearly was not happy about it. He was clearly not happy about it.
Starting point is 00:58:06 And then this last thing, you know, toward the end of the third, whenever they had the delay, there was an older gentleman, and that road cleared out, and he had a blanket and a jacket and a jacket, and he laid down, he said, wake me up if they start again. And they didn't start again, so I didn't know whether to wake him up or not. I was left in my he might still be laying in Cropperfield. So I love it. I'm sorry.
Starting point is 00:58:34 I don't know who you are, buddy, but I hope you get some good rest. Have a good night, guys. Thank you. See, I love this. Two more, and then we will finally let Billy go home. Did you get your logs sorted out, Billy? Oh, the logs worked perfectly. Logs are work.
Starting point is 00:58:49 All right. Who's next? Juliana. Juliana. Next to last one. What do you got? Hey, Matt. First time in the long time.
Starting point is 00:58:57 Ooh, perfect time for first time. I know. So I am in the Wildcat Marching Band, and I have been going to games a long time because my dad actually used to be the director of the Wildcat Marching Band. Okay. And seeing the atmosphere tonight, I'm so excited about this season with the fan base. I haven't, I've never seen a non-conference game with this atmosphere and this excitement. I know part of it was the weather delay, but again, the dedication of the fans is, I haven't. amazing. And I just, I truly can't wait for SEC play to start. And I can tell y'all that the band
Starting point is 00:59:34 is ready to support the cats. Awesome. Well, thank you very much and thank you to the band. And that's good to hear. Appreciate the call. I do think the sort of the same things that frustrated us about tonight and frustrated the people at the game are also why I think there was so much excitement during it. Because you kind of go through an experience together. And everybody's like, all right, we're here. We might as well enjoy it. One more. We'll call tonight. Who's next? it's bargo bargo bargo what's going on bargo hey mad i appreciate you and billy staying up so like great listen it's there are much worse things we could be doing go ahead uh but just watching the game i was wondering uh who you think faster uh dabo sueney running down that hill or uh brock vandivic
Starting point is 01:00:18 well i like vandovic i thought you just mispronounce it but i got you little michael vick uh Brock's faster, Davos dork here. So, but I appreciate the call. Listen, I was happy with him. That's a good start to his career. And, you know, get a win. Next week's going to be huge. I mean, to me, it is hard to see how you have a great season if you don't win next week.
Starting point is 01:00:44 So it's a big one. I think it's a big one for the team. It's going to be a big one for the program. But you tell me before the game, it's 31-0. put aside all the secondary parts and I'd say I'm happy. Well, it was 31 nothing. So I'll say I'm happy and we get a big victory, start 1 and 0. So here's the schedule.
