Starting point is 00:00:00 Another podcast from some SNL late-night comedy guy, not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and Friends. Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier. This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidel, help an a cappella band with their between songs banter. Where does your group perform? We do some retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter.

This morning, the internet lost its mind, and nobody's telling you exactly what happened. That's where SportsSlice comes in. I'm Timbo, and every episode, we're cutting through the noise, breaking down the biggest moments in sports and giving you the real story behind the headline. And we're going straight to the source, the athletes themselves, their locker room stories, their reactions in the moment, and the stuff nobody gets to hear. Listen to Sports Slice on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast.
Starting point is 00:01:00 And for more, follow Timbo Slica Life 12 in the TikTok podcast network on TikTok. I'm Michelle McPhee, and I've been unraveling the strangest criminal alliance I've ever reported on. A Mormon polygamist and an Armenian businessman. Multi-million dollar house, Ferraris and Lamborghinis, private jets, a billion dollar fraud. But how long can this alliance last? Tell me what you know. Is somebody coming after me? Starting point is 00:01:35 Hey, what's good, y'all? You're listening to Learn the Hardway with your favorite therapist and host Kear Games. This space is about black men's experiences, having honest conversations that it's really not safe to have anywhere, but you're having them with a licensed professional who knows what he's doing. How many men carry a suit or armor? It signals to the world that you're not to be played with. And just because you have the capability that does not mean that you need to. Listen and learn the hard way on the AHA radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast. All right, good evening, Big Blue Nation. Ryan Lemon in for Matt Jones tonight on the local Toyota dealers KSR postgame show. Man, what a difference of three days make, right?
Starting point is 00:02:16 You know, this time on Tuesday night, Big Blue Nation was at a panic, full-blown hysteria after they just got whooped. and flat out spanked by Michigan State. Can't forget that game, but it was kind of nice to watch the game tonight and kind of enjoy, not be stressed out, not be anxious, as they whipped up on Loyola 88 to 46, and it was never close. The game in the score is actually not what's important, I think, about what happened tonight. To me, when it was important to what happened to a couple guys,
Starting point is 00:02:50 Pope changed the starting lineup. Diabate out with his brain to ankle, so he puts Cam Williams at the four, and he makes the move that a lot of Big Blue Nation have been talking about. He put in Malachi Marino instead of Brandon Garrison. And man, from the opening tip, there was just more energy. Just that little breath of fresh air of mixing up the starting lineup, I think, worked. The guys just came out seen – because, you know,
Starting point is 00:03:17 the worst thing you can do when you have a bad loss like you did on Tuesday is you come out and you get – let one loss turn into two. Well, I didn't think they would lose tonight, but there was that outside possibility that could come out a little flat, maybe not into the game, maybe slacking off a little bit and just going through the motions because it was Loyola, Maryland. But they didn't, and I think that's because the starting lineup change. It came out, and the energy was there, the effort was there, and from the very beginning, it looked like a different basketball team. Otega Owee, scores six straight points to start the game, going hard to the basket. I mean, it was obvious from the outset They had talked to him and told him,
Starting point is 00:03:57 look, you just need to get back to what Otega O.A. is good at. And that's driving to the basket, get into the rim, and he did it, man. And just that jump started this team. When he came out that way with that effort and got those six straight points, because right after that, it was shortly after that, Colin Chandler hit like, what, three threes in the first half.
Starting point is 00:04:17 Hit two of them back to back. Jasper Johnson hit a three. Yelovich hit a three. I mean, they were just bombing them in from everywhere. Cam Williams hit a three. That's what I was most pleased with, how they responded to that awful loss on Tuesday, how they came out and played tonight. Like, I don't care it was Loyola.
Starting point is 00:04:36 I don't care they beat them by 42 points. It was just the execution was there, the effort was there, the energy was there, and I was pleased with what I saw. You know, Brandon Garrison, the guy loses his starting spot, maybe plays his best game of the year. He got had 11 rebound. He only scored six points, but he had 11 rebounds. But he was more like the Brandon Garrison, I think we thought we'd get this year. He was all over the place on the defensive end.
Starting point is 00:05:03 He was going after the rebounds. He was vocal, showed a lot of energy. I think maybe, well, you know, he came off the bench all the last year to Amari. So maybe that's just where he's more comfortable, just coming off the bench. Because Malachi deserves to start. The guy is just getting better and better. better each time out, each game out. For those of us,
Starting point is 00:05:25 well, for those of you who thought maybe he was going to just be a project and the 13th man on the bench was sadly mistaken. The dude deserved to start, earned this right to start. He's a guy that could get a lot of double doubles for you, and I hope
Starting point is 00:05:40 they keep that lineup the way it is right now with Garrison coming off the bench letting Malachi start. But the start of the game was Cam Williams. I mean, we've already mentioned his name a couple times. got the start tonight I love his hair I think it's all because of the hair
Starting point is 00:05:55 the change in the hairstyle he came out and had a great game 13 points team high nine rebounds four assists and he interviewed with Maggie Davis after the game
Starting point is 00:06:04 on the floor then he interviewed with Jack Givens on the sideline after the game and both times he said he was kind of mad at himself because he didn't get that 10th rebound you know so he knew he
Starting point is 00:06:14 he needed one more for 10 rebounds that tells me about all I need to know about that kid he didn't care he didn't want to score 20 points he wanted 10 rebounds. So he's earned the right to play and to start. So Denzel Washington, Denzel Aberdeen, almost floated around with a triple double.
Starting point is 00:06:32 11 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists. If he'd have played more minutes, he may have gotten a triple double. And he's a guy that just plays better off the ball. You know, when Jasper was running the point and Denzel was running the two, I like that. It seemed to work a little bit. You see, there was one rotation, Billy, where actually Pope played Garrison and Malachi together late in the game.
Starting point is 00:06:53 I think he did that just to see could they possibly play together at the four and the five. I don't think really anything happened, but I think that was just a little experiment that Pope threw out there. Do you catch that? I did. It was good to see BG not check out and get those 11 boards. I mean, despite him playing poorly, he's still going to be important until JQ comes back. How about how quick this game went, Ryan?
Starting point is 00:07:13 Dude, this may be the fastest basketball game since I've been in Lexington. It took out over in like an hour and 45 minutes, maybe less than an hour and 40 minutes, something like that. The first foul was until 2.35 left in the first half. They didn't, they only shot what, three free throws in the first half, something like that? They only shot 17 free throws for the game. Fastest job ever.
Starting point is 00:07:36 I commend Doug Shows. We give him a hard time. Doug wasn't having it, except he did call a couple guys stepping on the sideline. They're eating it. Come on, Doug, let that go. But it was. Corey Price needs to look it up. This may be the fastest game.
Starting point is 00:07:48 game since when Delk and McCarty and Pope and those guys used to blow teams out by 30, maybe one had one of those games that went fast, but this one just blew by. So congratulations to Mark Pope. He came out, was very gracious in his postgame comments to Tom Leach and to the crowd. He thanked everybody for coming out here. And Billy, the last thing he said before he took the headsets off and walked away, the last thing he said, we really appreciate. you guys being here. Stay tuned. It's going to be a great journey. I loved it. That's what I want
Starting point is 00:08:25 my coach to say. I don't want him to have his head down staring at the ground and acting like he just got beat up on the playground. I want to be, you know, optimism and be positive looking forward. Did you hear him say that right at the end? I did. Yeah, it was good to hear him in a good mood after the last couple weeks that we've had. But he talked about decisiveness of the team. You know, you mentioned Oway, him scoring all those points at the beginning of the game. I think we We were definitely looking for something like that. And I mean, Colin Chandler, he missed a few shots tonight, but man, that guy can shoot.
Starting point is 00:08:53 And he has improved a ton since last year. He's your best outside three-point shooter. Cam Williams may be number two, but how about the Mountain Mamba, Trent Noah, knocking down a couple shots. He's got to get on track. As long as he can come off the bench, knock down a couple shots like that, he's going to be so valuable.
Starting point is 00:09:10 So, you know, it was a feel-good win. The fan base needed it, the locker room needed it, and that 6'11 head coach needed it. They needed a feel-good win, and tonight they got it 88-46 over Loyola. Next up, John Pelfrey brings his Tennessee Tech team in here on Wednesday, but tonight we want to hear from you. Hopefully there won't be any belly aching that we had last Tuesday after the Michigan State game, but it was warranted.
Starting point is 00:09:34 I'm not saying it wasn't warranted, it definitely was. 859-2-80-27. That's 8-9-280-cats. Ryan Lemon in here on the post-game show tonight with our buddy Belli-R Sports. We'll be right back. This is the KSR Postgame Show. All right, welcome back. the local Toyota Dealer's KSR postgame show
Starting point is 00:09:50 Ryan limited in for Matthew Harper Jones tonight Billy R Sports and running the show. You know, Billy, back in the day, used to run a show we had on 630 DLP called the scoreboard show for high school football. Well, tonight's big region finals night. So I've been following all these high school football scores and there's a big one going on over at Frederick Douglass.
Starting point is 00:10:08 They're going to overtime against Ryle right now. Winner moves on to the final four. Loser goes home. It's 2020 going into overtime. Trinity advanced the 9 and 6A playoffs St. X beat male and South Warren is beating Henderson County so those are the 6A scores
Starting point is 00:10:23 so throughout the show I'll try to give you some high school football scores as well is that all right with you kind of I feel like I'm kind of like Rick Shaw on the high school scoreboard show exactly like Rick Shaw do you miss working Friday nights Ryan I miss it I love it as the best thing we did when I worked at Channel 18 even the TV stations in Evansville I worked at high school football on Friday night to me is the best I love it
Starting point is 00:10:42 and I miss it and that's why I'm kind of into it by the way you know we all know that Matthew is a big Middlesboro yellow jacket. That's right. How they do? They're getting beat 42 to 6 by Pikeville.
Starting point is 00:10:52 Ooh. Yeah. Matthew will not be making the trip next week to watch his jackets play because they're getting whooped by Pikeville. The Pikeville Panthers 42 to 6. All right. 859-2802-287.
Starting point is 00:11:04 Who we got first, Billy? J-dub. J-dub. Go ahead, J-dub. How you doing, Brian? Where's Matt at? He's got some stuff he had to take care of tonight
Starting point is 00:11:14 because he's got a busy weekend. so we figured this would be a good night for him to take a night off okay that sounds good hey man all i was going to say was um oh man brandon garrison my goodness like you couldn't you couldn't be you couldn't be worse of what he's doing right now it's just terrible you didn't think he played good tonight i did not you didn't watch the game tonight i did you did the dude the dude had 11 rebounds and was one of the best defenders on the floor tonight. I know. Well, I don't think so.
Starting point is 00:11:53 I think Cam Williams was the star tonight. He was the best player, but as far on the defensive end, Brandon Garrison did his job. Against the division. What was that? Division two? No, they were Division I. They're just not very good. So, J. Dub, we appreciate it.
Starting point is 00:12:09 I totally disagree with J. Dubb's analysis of Brandon Garrison. Yes, he played poorly the other night against Michigan State. But tonight, like I said earlier, I think it was his best game of the season, Billy. Yeah, part of it is him doing it against the better competition. It's easy to do it when you're taller than everybody on the roster. But look, I mean, there's going to be a role on this team for BG. I'm just glad he hasn't checked out, right? I think that's why Pope was trying to prop him up in his news conferences this week,
Starting point is 00:12:36 try to really praise him because they'd already made the decision to sit him, but you can't lose him. You've got to keep him engaged because you're going to need him. You know, maybe Malachi gets in foul trouble, and he likes to play two big guys. We saw it last year. He played Cam and Brandon a lot, and I'm sure they'll play Malachi and Brandon as much
Starting point is 00:12:50 until JQ comes in and then they'll rotate those minutes. So, all right, try to get another one. Who we got next? Chad. Chad, go ahead, Chad. Hey, what's going on, guys? What up, Chad? Can you hear me?
Starting point is 00:13:05 Yeah, go ahead, Chad. Hey, Ryan, I appreciate you doing this show, man. You're doing a lot better than Mr. Jones. No, no. No, no. Billy, you're getting too much slack and they take up for yourself. Don't want them boys push you around. And go cast.
Starting point is 00:13:26 There we go, Chad. What a great call. Thank you, Chad. Yeah, I didn't like the Billy Slander that was going on about the veggie tray and the suitcase, Billy. I tried to take it in the shoes. I tried to take up for you this week. It was a business trip, Ryan. You know, I had to dress up for it.
Starting point is 00:13:40 And then I had somebody tweet me a veggie tray, their snack before tonight's game tonight. it's catching on a little bit. Well, something needs to be said for you're trying to eat healthy when we're all in there eating Twizzlers and Little Debbie cakes and chocolate chip cookies the whole trip. You're trying to at least eat something a little healthy. So good for you, Billy. Who we got next? Drew.
Starting point is 00:14:01 Drew, go ahead, Drew. Hey, guys. Just want to say you guys don't get enough credit, Ryan and Billy. So I'm glad you guys are on tonight. Well, that is our call on the day, Billy. Thank you, Drew. No matter what he says from here on out, that's our call. the day. Go ahead, Drew, take as long as you want.
Starting point is 00:14:21 I just want to say all those guys on Twitter, cut it out with the negativity because you're embarrassing us. And give our guys some more time. They're not used to playing with Pope like the guys last year, you know, Jackson Robinson, you know, give them some time. We got Malachi and freshmen coming in, so I'm excited. Drew, we appreciate it. Yeah, you know, I try to remind my myself, Billy, that the calendar does say November. I mean, we're a long way away from March. There's a lot of basketball to be played,
Starting point is 00:14:56 but still it stinks when you play so bad and get embarrassed on national television in the most historic basketball arena of all time, and you're getting beat so bad the other team puts their walk-ons in at the end of the game. That was just an embarrassing moment that does not, does not happen to Kentucky basketball, and we all had to sit there and take it. Yeah, and we heard from Dan Issel, Frank Franklin today about it a little bit, you know, but when you say it's November, that makes it even more impressive what Malachi Moreno is doing right now. Is that doesn't, does it
Starting point is 00:15:27 not? Yeah. I mean, like Drew said, you know, these guys are getting used to how to play with Coach Pope. Malachi seems to have picked it up pretty quickly. I mean, they just play better when he's on the floor right now. Now, like I said, I do think Brandon Garrison played his best game in the year so far tonight, but Malachi deserves and has earned that right to start, and he played well again the night. So, all right, let's get another one. Who we got, Bill? Mike. Mike, go ahead, Mike. Hey guys, how's it going?
Starting point is 00:15:54 How are you, Mike? Good, good, good. I'm calling from Knoxville, Tennessee. I live here. I'm U.K. fan, been U.K. fan all my life. But anyway, so the reason I'm calling. So to me, and I'm just saying this, because adversity defines true leadership. And Mark Pope this past week,
Starting point is 00:16:20 And I love Mark Pope. I drove from Knoxville whenever he was brought in for the press conference, hashtag, you know, 23, 24,000 at Ruff. Oh, yeah. I stood in line for four hours, you know what I mean, to get into that building to be there. And so I love Mark Pope. I think Mark Pope is a genuine great guy, and I think he's got a lot. And he's a very intelligent. I'll never forget the Duke game last year where he called that play.
Starting point is 00:16:50 and told him to what's that kid's name, you know, the one did that he did the spin movie. He told me it's when he spin, come over and do the weak side and help. I mean, that's Mark Pope. Yeah. And what he did tonight, and I'm glad to see him, you know,
Starting point is 00:17:08 engaging and coming out of, you know, that, you know, I love the fact he cares, and he wants to win. He hates to lose. I hate to lose. But we can't let those. kids, man, see us like that. And I'm just thankful, man, that hopefully, that, you know, hopefully he has time to come out
Starting point is 00:17:30 of that and move forward and really be that leader that he is, that we know that he is and the coach that he can be and do some great things this year. Because I believe, I truly believe the potential is there. I believe we've got some great players. I think they just need true leadership. And we need an alpha male on that team. Yeah, there's true to that. All right, Mike, appreciate it.
Starting point is 00:17:54 He said a couple things, Billy, I agree with. One, in a time, like he said, adversity brings out, is when you look to your leaders. And I said that on the show this week. When in a time of crisis, you look to your leaders for leadership, for guidance. And we didn't get that from Coach Pope this week. We got kind of doubled down and kept it secret and made excuses.
Starting point is 00:18:15 You don't need that. And I think the caller Mike's also right about need an alpha male, need a leader. that's why Jalen Lowe was so important to this team. That's why Matt named him the MVP of the team before the season even started because of his leadership. He is an alpha dog. He's the one's going to get in your face and tell you when you do something wrong. He's a great leader, great floor leader, great floor general, coach on the floor,
Starting point is 00:18:36 and they're missing that right now. So Aberdeen or Jasper, those two guys have got to learn how to take care of that. And I think they will. What do you think, Billy? Yeah, I mean, I hope so. I mean, Aberdeen has had to pick up a lot of the slack with Jalen Lowe out. Mark Pope in the postgame talked about being a sore loser after the game, and if that disqualifies him from the job or not,
Starting point is 00:18:56 I don't think it does, but I do think that he needed to show some leadership and not just in wins against stinky teams like this, Ryan. I agree. I totally agree. Oh, I can get another phone call, then who we got? Hayden. Hayden. Go ahead, Hayden. Hey, how you doing?
Starting point is 00:19:12 How are you, Hayden? I'm doing good. I was going to ask Matt earlier, but he hung up on me too quick. I'm a coach at Somerset Christian High School baseball, and we're needing somebody to come out and throw the first pitch. So I thought maybe Ryan would do it since Matt hung up on me too early. I will 100% come down and do it. I'll throw a fastball right across the middle of the play.
Starting point is 00:19:35 First game of the year. Well, if it may be cold and snowy first game of the year, let's wait maybe to it's a little warmer. We ain't worried about that. We'll get you a sweatshirt and everything. But no, besides that, I think Dan Hesel needs to keep his mouth shut. In the 70s, he might have played ball like that.
Starting point is 00:19:55 Dan Issel, Dan Isle, back in the 70s, you might have been able to talk like that, play ball like that, however he's talking. But it's the first five games of the year, and he's already talking like it. I think he needs to shut it up for a while and just keep his mouth shut up until we get to March. Okay, Hayden, appreciate it. Get back with me about throwing out the first pitch. I'll be glad to do it. Yeah, for those who don't know what Hayden's talking about,
Starting point is 00:20:18 Dan Issel was on a radio show, I believe, was it earlier this morning or last night or something, and said he did not see one thing, not one thing that was going to make him optimistic about this team this year. Well, if the only game you watch was Louisville and Michigan State, maybe you feel that way. Although I thought they played pretty well at Louisville game. Louisville just played better. But maybe the only game you saw a year was Michigan State because the other games were on the computer, as Matt likes to say. Maybe you didn't go to see them. Well, then you might want to say something like that. But again, it is just November.
Starting point is 00:20:50 I'm going to keep saying that. I'm trying to remind myself, I think, Billy, that we still have a long way to go. Long way to go, Ryan. So, I mean, Daniel still knows more than us, but are you panicking yet? No, I'm not. I needed a feel-good win tonight. I got it. I need another feel-good win.
Starting point is 00:21:10 Wednesday against Tennessee Tech. We'll get that. I need him to go out and play well at home against North Carolina. That's what's going to be. to win a lot of people back over. You play well against North Carolina because you may not beat Gonzaga in Nashville. Canzaga is really good. That could be a tough
Starting point is 00:21:25 game for you. But you got to play well against North Carolina. You can't throw in another stinker after you just got embarrassed by Michigan State. You want to take one more if we go to the break or go to the break? Yeah, one more. Wilson. Let's go one more. Who we got? Wilson. Go ahead, Wilson. Hey, Ryan. Thanks for taking my call.
Starting point is 00:21:45 Thanks for calling in, Wilson. I was at the game tonight. The crowd was pretty good. Actually, I was kind of surprised considering Tuesday, but it was really refreshing, and I think Cam Williams emerging could be big for this team. But on a bigger level, this week's been kind of exhausting for me to read social media,
Starting point is 00:22:04 all the gloom and comments about what folks saying in a press conference will happen before the Louisville game. So it was just really nice to go watch the team play, have a great game, and see a young player emerge. I just think we should go into this as fans. We should be optimistic about the team, instead of settling on gloomy things. I get it.
Starting point is 00:22:24 We haven't looked good in these big games. But let's cheer for the team. Let's be optimistic. I think we got a good squad. Appreciate it, Wilson. You know, we said the last thing Pope said, for he took his headphones off tonight was it's going to be a great journey. If Cam Williams started playing like that,
Starting point is 00:22:40 he had a good report about Jaden Quaitens. Did you hear that, Billy? He said Jaden Quatens was playing in two-on-two drills in practice. practice, scared Pope to death, went to the team doctor, and the team doctor said, no, no, he's good. He can do it. So Quatantz is now playing in two-on-two drills. So it's the first time he's been in non-contact drills since practice started. So, you know, you get him back.
Starting point is 00:23:01 You get Malachi getting better every game. You get Ken Williams, you know, trying to start to improve. Maybe Garrison gets into that role. If he comes off the bench and gets you 11 rebounds every time, well, that's how valuable is that? Have a big guy come off the bench that can do something like that for you. Yeah, you're just, somebody's going to. have to sit. I mean, Ken's not going to play the four with Moe when he comes back, right?
Starting point is 00:23:21 You wouldn't think so. And you know, Yellowvitch is still trying to fight for get on the floor and get some minutes here, there. So it could be a good problem to have. I do have an update on the Frederick Douglas football score. Yeah. In triple overtime, Ryle, 28, Frederick Douglas, 27. Douglas goes down in triple overtime to Ryle.
Starting point is 00:23:43 How about that? Wow. A couple of other. I'll give you a couple other scores. Corbyn one at Highlands tonight. Knocked out Taden Lorenzen in Highland, 3521, and Boyle County just destroyed Cub Calfe 41-14. So those scores from 4A.
Starting point is 00:23:58 So there you go. And here's one more from the Tech Machine. Did Matt pass on the post-game show after Middlesbrough went down to defeat at Pikeville, 42, 14? Yeah, maybe that's what it was, Billy. Maybe he knew the jackets weren't going to pull this one out, and he tried to bail on us. I understand.
Starting point is 00:24:13 I understand. All right, we'll take a break. Come back. 859-2802-287 local total leaders ksr postgame show ryan's in for matt we'll be right back all right welcome back local total leaders ksr post game show ryan limin for matt jones tonight as kentucky wins it over loyal uh maryland 88 46 in the game that was never close five guys in double figures cam williams led the way with 13 denzo aberdeen 11 otega o way 11 uh... colin chanellar also 13 i'm sorry so we had two guys with 13 cam williams colin chanler two at the 11 otega and
Starting point is 00:24:47 Denzel Aberdeen. Malachi had 10 points, eight rebounds. Brandon Garrison, 11 rebounds. Jasper Johnson, almost in double figures, with nine points and five assists. He had five assists. Aberdeen had six assists. They show me, again, I know it was a lesser opponent, but those two guys running the point made me feel a lot better about going forward than I did against Michigan State.
Starting point is 00:25:11 Denzel did not look comfortable at all, and against the pressure Michigan State was bringing Tuesday night. Jasper seemed to handle it a little better. Jasper's just an assist machine, man. He comes in and he's got the lob down with Malachi. He's kind of always looking up that way to give it up to the big guy. So I feel comfortable if he's got to step in and run some of that point. Because you've got to think Lowe is going to get hurt off and on all season.
Starting point is 00:25:34 That shoulder is going to get sore, he's going to get bumped. He's going to miss time here or there. If he's going to try to fight through it, we had to live with this last year with Lamont Butler. Remember he'd get bumped and maybe he had to sit out a game and then come back, missed the last game of the year against Tennessee. So just get ready for that, but I feel a lot better about Denzel and Jasper for sure at the point. All right, who we got next, Billy?
Starting point is 00:25:55 Seth. Seth. Go ahead, Seth. What's going on around here? You tonight, buddy. Well, what's up, Seth? So we went, me and my wife, we got blessed with tickets to the game tonight, and just a few, we were sitting six rows up from the opposing team from behind their bench.
Starting point is 00:26:13 And so there was just a few little things that I noticed. tonight. One, this team don't talk a whole lot on the floor. They talk some, but it's like really kind of like when somebody messes up and they're just kind of explaining what they were trying to do. Two, our bigs, Brandon Garrison kind of does a little bit better when he's actually playing good, but our bigs, and my wife even pointed it out, they don't realize how big they are. They almost play like they're smaller than they are. And I think that especially if Yolovich and Moreno would definitely just like,
Starting point is 00:26:45 be of those big but post guys and just get in there and get boards. I think it would contribute a lot. Cam Williams is a demon. I need that every game from him. He absolutely is a blast to watch him in Aberdeen. And Billy, real quick, let me put you on something. And I'm being 100% sincere when I say this because I love a good veggie tray and charcutory board. You need to try the pickled halve-or-candid jalapinos.
Starting point is 00:27:12 You can get them at Buckees and the pepper jelly to. Dude, you put that like the, you got like a ritz cracker with some cream cheese and some pepper jelly and like a little piece of like provolone or like a little bit of meat on there. Dude, it is absolutely fire. There we go. Okay, that's what I'm talking about. Martha Stewart Radio tonight, so I appreciate it, Seth. Thank you, Seth. You know, the veggie trays are good except for celery.
Starting point is 00:27:34 Did you have celery on your veggie tray? There was none. Good. Broccoli and carrots and then even a little like beef jerky and cheese that nobody wants to talk about. But was delightful. I would go with that. I'm okay if you even have cauliflower. Just no celery at all.
Starting point is 00:27:50 The only thing celery is good for is to hold the peanut butter, and then you lick the peanut butter out of the celery and then throw the celery strick away. Well, let me tell you, it's hard to eat healthy at Buckees. Oh, yeah, yeah. Seth is on to something. But Seth did have a pretty good. It made my mouth water a little bit. I'm not going to lie.
Starting point is 00:28:03 859-2-802-87. Who's next? Angus. Angus. Angus. Hey, guys. How y'all doing today? How are you, Angus?
Starting point is 00:28:12 Hello. Yeah, go ahead, Angus. Oh, hey, sorry, sorry, sorry. I actually like this lineup to start the game. It gives us a chance to spread the floor a little bit to get some threes up before the game with Moe sitting on the bench. I do think they'll be good at coming off the bench. So, Cam Williams, it's great to see him finding his role and getting some confidence going. If you guys don't mind, I'd like to give a little bit of a shout out too, if that's okay.
Starting point is 00:28:34 On a night like tonight, why not? Yeah, dude. Shout out Cam Taylor. Shout out my brother, Zach, and the rest of the boys, go cats, man. Thank you, guys. You know, Angus did bring up a point that I think a lot of people are going to agree with. When you start a guy like Cam Williams, now you've got four shooters on the floor. Diabate, the reason Mark Pope went out and got Diabate was for he needed somebody to get tougher inside.
Starting point is 00:28:58 We got pushed around last year. We had trouble with teams that played physical. He needed a good defender that could push people around. He went out and got Diabate. He's perfect to that. But he's not your outside shooter that Pope likes to have that four guy knocked down shots. That's why he brought in Yelovich. That's why he brought in Cam Williams. So, Billy, what do you think if they go with that lineup of bringing Diabate and Garrison off
Starting point is 00:29:20 the bench? Off the bench? I mean, yeah, I think that would be good. You know, we talked a lot about Mark Pope's offense and him not really recruiting to his scheme this year, right? Going to get Mo to get more physical and get these guys with experience. So it's not exactly the team he's coached in the past. I would love to see Diabate at the five or Moreno at the five with Diabate on the bench because that allows a guy like Cam to start so you can space the floor. One guy I was really disappointed in shooting tonight was Walker Horn. Oh, I mean, he had two looks.
Starting point is 00:29:53 He was 0 for two from three. I mean, you're in the game for one reason, Walker, and that's to knock down that shot. When in the final seconds of the game, you've got to hit that shot. So he really brought down our three-point percentage tonight, 0-4-2. You know who was the worst three-point shooter of the game? Who? Well, besides the guy that missed three-point. Cam Williams.
Starting point is 00:30:14 He was only one of four. He had this great game, and he's known to be a shooter, but he was doing everything else. That's why he's the MVP of the game. He was a vital member of the team to help them win and didn't do the one thing he's known to do, and that was knock down threes. All right, who's next?
Starting point is 00:30:31 Let's go to Sam. Sam, go ahead, Sam. Hi, Ryan, thanks for taking my call. I had two games on tonight. I was watching my father-in-law, Coach Ryle, like a big one there. happy about that but I wanted to ask you a question if if Colin Chandler didn't go on that mission trip can you imagine how scary he would be right now without taking that break off of basketball have a good night man well you know it's a good point he goes two-year mission came back last year kind of took him half the year to seem to kind of knock off the rust but then by the end of the year he was you could tell he got his confidence back he's playing with a lot of confidence right now I like him as anybody if you got the you need a shot you need a shot and I'm putting the ball in his hands and say, go knock it down for me, son.
Starting point is 00:31:15 So he had three threes in the first half, was on fire again. Billy, he's a guy that is, it's going to be hard to get him off the floor. Who are we talking about? I'm sorry. That's all right. Colin Chandler. Oh, yeah. Drew as the president of the fan club, I'm a little jealous because that guy has been phenomenal this year, hasn't he?
Starting point is 00:31:33 I mean, he's been their best shooter, no doubt. That's what I said. It's going to be hard to take him off the floor. Pope's going to have a heck of a problem. if Lowell comes back, Otega starts playing better. You got Aberdeen and you got Chandler. Well, those are big gifts right now. Somebody's going to have to sit out of those four guys
Starting point is 00:31:50 because if you like Cam at the four and Malachi at the five. So like I said, it's a good problem to have, and it's just November. They got time to figure it out. So are they going to shorten their rotation, or are we going to play 11 guys? I think that's just how Pope does it. I just think he plays guys.
Starting point is 00:32:04 He doesn't like to play a lot of minutes. I've heard him say before. You like, you know, analytics show you, you play your best one fresh legs. So he tries to save, get your fresh legs, save them for late in the game. And also it gives the bench some minutes in case you have to play them late in the game. They're not coming in cold. They've already been on the floor and run up down the court a little bit.
Starting point is 00:32:22 So those are his reasons why he likes to play 10, 11 guys, and he's not going to change. I just think that's the way he coaches. Who's next, Billy? Let's go to Kendall. Kendall. Go ahead, Kendall. What's going on, Ryan? First time to call him.
Starting point is 00:32:38 I appreciate you calling. No, I was going to see you got Jane Quaintiff's on the bench. I was the top five round draft pick. I mean, when he comes back, how do you think he comes to? Because he comes off the bench or does he start? What do you think he has? I think he'll do exactly what we did with Jalen Lowe
Starting point is 00:33:01 when Jalen Lowe was coming back the first time. You know, bring him in about the first TV timeout, maybe somewhere in the middle of the first half. you know jalen Jaylon has yet to start a game here because he got hurt in big blue-white game and then played partial against Louisville
Starting point is 00:33:16 played partial against who was the other game he played partial against Valparaiso maybe so I think he'll do the same thing with Quaitons I think he'll just kind of baby him in bring him off the bench by the end of the season he's starting and he's your man he's the guy he's going to be the best player
Starting point is 00:33:32 on the team I agree I agree thanks for the co all right 859-2-802 287 let's get another call billy who we got we got dustin dustin go ahead dustin hey ryan uh first time a long time appreciate you calling uh yeah what did you think about that brandon garrison pass at the four minute market at the stands what was up with that i don't i don't know if i remember what you're talking about i do that was bad he threw one up in the
Starting point is 00:34:02 stands yeah oh yeah i did rebound underneath the basket that's right he threw it it went up into the stands I don't know what happened with that. Yeah. Well, I'm not going to fault him. Like I said, I think this is the best game he's played. Oh, I agree. Reband just seemed to be more active on the defensive end, more active going rebounds.
Starting point is 00:34:19 They obviously got to him this week, and he actually came and played, instead of pouting on the bench, losing your spot, he came and played his best game. For sure. For sure. Okay. Thank you. I get in my call. Appreciate the phone call.
Starting point is 00:34:32 Is that your dog in the background? Did you hear my dog? Yeah, I sure did. There's all kinds of people here at my house. Well, I got one son here, downstairs making cookie with his female companion. Oh. I got another son here with two other guys, and they're downstairs making music, writing music and songs.
Starting point is 00:34:47 So there are people all over my house right now. Okay. Well, eventful night at the Lemon household. You're lucky the game ended so quick. I know. I do have breaking news, Billy, though. A guy just texted me the Somerset, Owensboro Catholic score, and Owensboro Catholic won 27 to 19.
Starting point is 00:35:04 That game was played at Kentucky Wesleyan College's football field. So I want to broke Catholic Aces, move on again. You want to take another call or take our final break? Let's take our final break here. Final break will come back. Our final segment, 859-2802-287. Calls have been really good tonight. After big wins, sometimes it goes a little astray.
Starting point is 00:35:23 Tonight's calls have been fantastic. You guys have done a great job. So we've got one more segment, so line up with the phone calls. 859-280-2287. We'll be right back on the KSR Postgame Show. Welcome back. Final segment of the local Toyota Dealer's KSR Postgame Show is Kentucky, whoops up on Loyola, Maryland, 88, 46.
Starting point is 00:35:41 There's some high school football scores, though, I've got to get to you tonight. Pulaski beat West Jessman, Owensboro beat Fairdale, Woodford County, beat Scott County in a tough one, 4531, Campbellsville shutout, Newport Central Catholic, Christian Academy, Louisville won, LCA beat Mayfield, 35, 16. And I already told you that Corbyn won at Highlands, and Boyle County beat Covecath. But here's what I'm going to bring it up again, Billy.
Starting point is 00:36:03 next Friday night, Boyle County plays Corbyn. Boyle County's probably got the best senior in the state, one of the best seniors in the state, and Seneca Driver. Corbin's got the best junior in the state in Malachi Brown that's been getting recruited by Ohio State. I mean, the kid is legit for Corbyn. Kentucky and all the other schools have offered Seneca Driver at Boyle County.
Starting point is 00:36:26 So if you want to see two of the top kids in the state playing the final four, next weekend Boyle County plays Corbyn. that will be a slug fest for sure. So all right. Our final segment, we've got some callers lined up. Let's get through them. And then we'll get out of here tonight, Billy. Who we got?
Starting point is 00:36:39 Yeah, before we do that, Ryan, it's time for our Johnny Rocker, personal injury attorney, moneymaker of the game. I can't wait to hear who you picked. Injured, get small town compassion with big city results when you call the Rocker at 270, 3-2-1-4-29. We try to normally pick somebody that wasn't the player of the game in this segment, but tonight was all about Cam Williams, 13 points, 5 of 9 shooting, nine rebounds, four assists, three seals, and 26 minutes.
Starting point is 00:37:05 It was his breakout game. He is our moneymaker of the game. My question for you, Ryan, is how many minutes does he average the rest of the way? Well, he's earned it. I mean, he came in and provided a spark against Louisville. He's earned more minutes. So I'm going to say, if I put the over, under, if he gets 17 minutes a game, you go over or under.
Starting point is 00:37:28 I want to see over. I just don't know with the logger. jam at that position. Exactly. But I would say over after seeing the night like tonight. I think it's because like I said earlier. I think it's because of his hair. I think he rediddy's hair, ward out a little bit.
Starting point is 00:37:43 Boom, has this massive game when he was the star of the game. Like I said, you've picked him as a Johnny Rocker player of the game. Maggie Davis has a TV player of the game. Jack Givens named him as the radio player of the game. So he is a clean sweep tonight. It's Cam Williams. All right. Got callers lined up for our last segment.
Starting point is 00:37:58 Who we got, Billy? We got six calls. Let's start with Shelby. Shelby, go ahead, Shelby. Hey, good afternoon, gentlemen. Thank you for taking my call. Currently making the two-hour drive back home from the game to Mumfordville, Kentucky, and I got two takes for you.
Starting point is 00:38:14 One, I hate how much Mark Pope's subs. I think we got three and a half minutes into the game, and he was done changing up to start line up. I can't stand that. And number two, have y'all ever seen a game before where there was no foul called? I think it was two minutes left in the first half before a foul was called. That was pretty crazy.
Starting point is 00:38:35 And Doug Schaels was one of the officials, and he let him play. They just let him go tonight. That's surprising. I hate it. I'm sure every Kentucky fan hate him as much as I do. But thank you, gentlemen. Y'all have a good night. All right, shall we be safe driving home?
Starting point is 00:38:48 Yeah, the fastest game ever. I think they only shot two free throws in the first half, maybe three, and only shot 17 free throws for the game. That's my kind of game. We don't have to stay up in the middle of the night to do the post-game show, get Billy out there to a decent hour and move on to the next day. Who we got next? Josh.
Starting point is 00:39:05 Josh. Go ahead, Josh. Yeah, I was really excited about the game. I'm going to be a profit right now. I believe we'll beat North Carolina and Gonzaga and we'll just come out victorious. Well, Josh, I hope we're right. We appreciate that. They play. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:39:25 Okay, go ahead. I'm sorry. And then I want to I hated that my Mayfield Cardinals got beat tonight, you know, by Lexington Christian. Yeah, LCA beat him 3516. Yeah, but Mayfield's still the biggest winning school around here. So, all right, y'all have a good night. Appreciate it. Mayfield's one of the winning of schools in all the United States.
Starting point is 00:39:46 When it comes down to it like that, so. But LCA, I win her tonight, 35, 16 over Mayfield. All right. It's got another one, Billy. Who we got? Sherry. Sherry. Go ahead, Sherry.
Starting point is 00:39:56 Hey guys, this is Sherry from Carnes, Mississippi, and I just have to say this. I am dead at that first caller who said that VG had an awful game because he did so good. I am 100% on your side, and I got a bunch of messages people criticizing that first caller. Yes, Branding Garrison probably deserved to be criticized after the Michigan State game, but not tonight. Tonight was his best performance of the season. Not tonight. not tonight. And he was probably, I mean, he may have been looking at some social media and
Starting point is 00:40:29 seeing all that and came out and was like, hey, I'm going to prove y'all wrong because he did good. And I'm with y'all about the furrow. I think Cameron Williams' fro probably helped him out tonight. He changed his look and come out and showed out. Appreciate it, Sherry. You're exactly right, Billy. Go ahead. I think I'm going to wear my hair as a fro the rest of the week, just in honor of Cam Williams.
Starting point is 00:40:53 I know unless we can't just do a pro. We can't just do a pro. We got to put that bleach right there in the front. Yeah. Bleached it right there in the front. But anyway, I think y'all are doing a great job. I love listening to all of y'all in the morning. And Matt's wonderful, but I love y'all too.
Starting point is 00:41:12 And y'all have a great night tonight. Thank you, Sherry. Appreciate another great call, Billy. Just another great call tonight. Calling from Mississippi, anytime you're going to brag on us, we're going to say, oh, yeah, that is our call. the night for sure no doubt about it so we get a couple more like that it's going to be a good show who we got next billy only two left we've got rick rick go ahead rick yes sir uh rick from monicello
Starting point is 00:41:34 and i wanted to thank you ryan for coming on and and talking when way and Kenny football for the last few weeks really appreciate that yeah i saw they got beat last week though right right yes they didn't do good but but anyway i appreciate ryan coming on and talking about it and I think Chandler is going to be a player of the year to me he's the one that's doing everything right now
Starting point is 00:42:03 I just hope he continues it and good Gary BG tonight had a good game guys y'all do great I've been listening to KSR for probably 10 years now every day thank you Rick
Starting point is 00:42:19 appreciate you very much If you had to pick the MVP, I think right now, I think Rick's right. I think it is Colin Chandler. But we had to pick an MVP at the end of the season, Billy. Now we've got into it. Who do you think it's going to be? That's a great question. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:42:35 Can I say Jaden Quatens joins the team and it just looks completely different? Yes, because that is highly, highly, highly possible. That could exactly happen. I don't know what I'm banking on right now. I don't know if Jalen Lowe is as effective if he's going to be battling through that shoulder injury. See, that's the thing. He may be on and all. all season long.
Starting point is 00:42:52 Do you hear what Mark Pope said in the pregame, that he'd be day to day forever? Yeah, we've heard guys with shoulder injuries, and somebody told Matt that it just doesn't heal without surgery. It's just going to always, it's going to be a, we saw it last year with a Lamont Butler, LeBont tried to play through it. He'd miss time here or there because he gets bumped.
Starting point is 00:43:11 Teams are going to go after that shoulder, and they set a pick. You don't think they're going to go after and knock that shoulder out again? Of course they are. So who would you pick? If Lowe was healthy, I would pick him. him. Quaitons is a really good guess. So since you pick Quatans, I'm going to pick,
Starting point is 00:43:27 I'm still a believer in Otega O'Aulay, man. I picked him as my player of the game tonight before the game. I just think it's there. He's just got to find it. He's got to dig deep. Look in the mirror, look at the mirror, and just remember what made him the player he was last year. Now, he's not a three-point specialist.
Starting point is 00:43:45 You heard both not just bragging on Otega on the offensive end the night, bragging about Otega on the defensive end of the night. So he played his best defensive game. of the year. So that's the Otega we need to get. So I'm still holding out hope it's going to be him, Billy. Okay. I'll be optimistic with you. You know, if Lowe doesn't play a lot, maybe Aberdeen becomes that guy. But he just misses some shots really poorly sometimes.
Starting point is 00:44:05 Yeah, he's better off the ball. He's just got to play him off the ball as much they can. All right, is our last one? It is. Nate is up. Nate, go ahead, Nate. Hey, guys. How are you doing? Good. How are you doing, Nate? Doing well. Sitting here in Mount Sterling, made it back from the game. How about we shout out Andrea Yellovich?
Starting point is 00:44:25 12 minutes, 9 points, 4 for 7, 4 for 7, 4 for 7, Philgo. Like, what? Nobody's even mentioned this guy yet. You're right. Let's go, Yelovich. Let's go Colin Chandler. Shout out Drew. And shout out all you all.
Starting point is 00:44:43 You all do a really good thing. I think, Ryan, you're really killing this post-game stuff. I think I love this stuff. Secondly, Billy, you're the man. Keep being you. Keep doing what you're doing. BBN loves you. I'll let you all speak.
Starting point is 00:44:59 Have a great night, fellas. Thank you, Nate. Biaen loves you, Billy. You keep being you. It's a great way to end it. He's right about Yelovich. We had even mentioned him. He came off the bench.
Starting point is 00:45:08 Only played 12 minutes. Got nine points, four of seven from the field. Four rebounds, though. That's where he can earn himself some minutes too by crashing the board, get some rebounds when he's in there. Yeah, but the lowest plus minus on the team. Oh, he did? What was it?
Starting point is 00:45:21 Plus five. I mean, besides Walker Horn and Zach Tal. Well, Walker Horn, he's the guy he's got to improve what he's doing out there. I mean, he comes off the bench. He's got two, three-pointers, and he can't hit either one of them. Come on, Walker. Oh, for two from the field. Heard our shooting percentage tonight.
Starting point is 00:45:37 Yeah, we could have had 90. Zach Tal had a shot in the lane and turned it down, too. Those guys have got to come off the bench, ready to play. Don't be sitting over there just not paying attention. When you come in, you got to execute Zach Tao. Take that shot and you get it in the lane. That's my coaching for the day. All right.
Starting point is 00:45:55 Kentucky wins at 8846 for you math wizards. That's a 42-point win. That beat the spread. So congratulations to the Ohoo, those of you who bet that. Excuse me. We got KSR pregame show tomorrow starts at 1230. It's Kentucky plays Vanderbilt at 330. Go Katz.
