Welcome, everyone.
It is the local Toyota Dealer's KSR post-game show.
The Cats win a big one here that is important for the season.
Their morale and the NCAA tournament winning against Missouri in a thriller,
7872.
I'm sitting here with Ryan Lemon.
We are hanging out at the Draft Kings Sports.
Bar and Grill here in
Nashville and Kentucky
that was a tough victory.
Got up 16 in the second half,
looked to be all in hand,
and then Missouri said, I'm going to give this dude
Mark Mitchell the ball, and he is going to
dominate for about 10 straight minutes,
and there's not going to be anything you can do about it.
And a 16-point lead went down to a one-point
deficit, but with three minutes to go,
the big guys for Kentucky.
Away Aberdeen.
Make play.
Four big ones.
Aberdeen gets a rebound on a free throw, gets foul, makes two threes, which gives them the lead.
O-A takes it to the basket, gets a huge shot to put Kentucky up three.
Defensively, Garrison and O-Way back-to-back stops.
Garrison makes Mitchell take a bad shot, and then O'A strips it the next time down,
and then it finishes with an Aberdeen take to the basket right as the shot clock buzzer goes off.
and Kentucky, unlike the game in Ruff, where they had a big lead that they lost and then wilted in the last two or three minutes.
In this game, big lead, lost it, but then actually was able to fight back and get the victory tonight.
And now they moved to play Florida tomorrow.
I think it probably ensures that Kentucky, I think it ensures they're not an eight or a nine.
and it probably puts them right on the six,
but probably more likely a seven,
but if you win tomorrow,
could get up to a six.
So I do think it keeps them out of the eight,
nine game,
which is what I really wanted to see this weekend
do for the cats.
Ryan is with me.
Ryan, to me, the story of the game,
well, really, you got a lot from a bunch of guys.
Nobody was perfect, right?
O.A.
I thought played really well in the second half,
So-so in the first half.
Aberdeen made a couple big shots in the free throws,
took some bad shots down the stretch.
Chandler hit a couple big threes, but also had some mistakes.
Garrison had no points but five blocks.
Diabate made some important play.
I mean, there was a lot of guys that gave you stuff,
and it ends up you getting a victory.
You said the key word to me, fight.
They did, yes.
Something they didn't have, and they had Missouri at Rupp Arena.
they fought, even fought them off of that that huge rally.
But you said that the two biggest plays of the game, to me,
with those two defensive stops on Mitchell.
Because we had no answer for them.
The dude could have scored 60 points if the Missouri gave him the ball every time
because we could not stop him.
We could not stop him.
And they tried, in the second half they tried Moreno, nothing.
Tried Diabate, nothing.
It didn't put Yelvic on him a lot.
Tried Garrison early, nothing.
But then Pope said in the post-game press conference, I thought this was interesting.
When they called timeout, when you had the under four timeout, he, for the first time, told, oh, wait, he could double.
Double Mitchell?
And he threatened a double, which caused Mitchell to take that shot.
And then he did double the next time knocked him off his leg.
You could argue, well, why didn't we do it before that?
but that was a key adjustment that I think Pope made
and it made a big difference.
Big in-game adjustment right there that really won the game.
Those two plays were the biggest plays of the game.
And you mentioned a couple things that ended up frustrated to me.
We started when we lost that lead, we were playing like we were behind.
When we had the lead, we were playing like we were playing like we went away.
You know, when they played zone, I think this is a really good win for Kentucky
because I actually think when Missouri was able to get in their zone,
I think we struggled the whole game.
We did.
In the first half, when they played zone, we struggled.
But what would happen is we would get an offensive rebound or O'A or Aberdeen or a channel would make a play.
But in general, our offense struggled against that zone.
It did.
And in the second half, it really struggled to get you out of here?
Carrie Bruce.
See you later.
Be careful for going home.
We really did struggle in that second half, but they made the plays.
when they needed to down the stretch.
You're right.
We struggled.
And they actually went out of the zone
in the last three minutes,
which I don't really understand.
Aberdeen took two horrible shots
early in the shot clock against that zone.
We just had trouble trying to figure it out.
But then he's money at the free throw line
at the end of the game.
If we got one guy I want it to free throw line
that game, it is him.
He is, what is it?
Has it missed a free throw in the last two minutes all year?
I think it's what somebody said something like that.
You got to give him a lot of credit for that.
That's, I mean, when he got fat,
we're down one.
We got two straight.
offensive rebounds. That's the biggest play of the game. Diabate gets one, kicks it out.
Yeah. Then we miss, I think Oway misses an open three, and then Aberdeen gets a second one,
and he gets fouled. And I knew when he got, I was like, well, he's baking those. And that got us
to 71, by the way, Rule 71. Yes. One again. We mentioned Colin Chandler. You know, he's back,
made some three, made some good run-out dunks, but he made a couple really bad turnovers.
Well, he slipped. He slipped on that when they got the stick.
I don't think. Actually, I think he might also
gotten fouled. You know what I'm talking about
when he had the runaway? I thought he just got in a hurry
man. Well, he slipped there, I'm sorry. He got
fouled on the play where
it was like a one-point game and he turned it over.
Yes. I think he got fouled right now. You got foul on that one?
I was standing where I could see, I think he got
fouled and they just didn't call it. But all
those guys did their job, man. They showed
a lot of fight. But Garrison, that was
a, that was a goaltending.
100% was a goal thing. That
ball was on the way down.
I don't even know if he was going to get to the rim.
I think the rule is that they can't review it unless they call it a goal to it.
That seems like a bad rule.
But I'll take it.
I'm not going to complain.
You know, Brandon Garrison did not score a point, but he was still made a difference on the
defensive end with five blocks and trying to guard Mitchell and taking some space.
Yeah, I mean, it was, I don't think anybody was perfect.
But a lot of people contributed.
Yovitch, I thought played pretty well.
Yes.
Yovitch, it doesn't seem like Pope trusts him after the beginnings of games.
He does not play at the end of the game.
He is not out there?
Is it because he's a defensive liability?
Probably, and we were just getting crushed defensively anyway.
I guess that was the thought process.
You got to give a big shout out to Mitchell.
I mean, the dude was, you know, a couple times our defense was poor.
But in general, man, he just took us.
We were trying everything to stop that guy.
And like I said, he could have scored every time down.
if you wanted to, if they would have gotten the ball, I feel like.
He was, and the other guy had the guy that was crying at the end.
Yeah.
He had, I think, seven points in the second half.
I mean, I think people thought it was the same guy because it felt like they were scored every.
I mean, from the 11-minute mark on, I think they scored almost every position.
Well, they did.
That's why we lost that 16-point leave.
All of a sudden it disappeared, and they're up one point.
So, but a big win.
I got to ask you, when did you get up and start pacing?
Five minutes to go.
we were sitting up in Section 333 next to some really nice British ladies who were just in Nashville visiting and decided to come to a basketball game.
Really?
They were like, I can't do the voice.
But they were like, we were here a couple years ago and went to hockey, so we thought this would be fun.
And we got them to cheer for Kentucky the whole game.
Nice.
But then at the timeout where they had cut it to five, and it went to time out, I got up.
And I was like, I was pacing.
And so I walked outside, watched the next segment out on the big screen outside the arena.
Did you really?
And then watched the last three or four minutes in the arena.
I do have floor access, which I didn't know I had.
Well, I can't, I don't blame you.
That was a cut punch to all of us.
I think we were all on pins and needles there for a while.
Well, I mean, when you got down one, I thought, I didn't think we were going to win.
It crossed everybody's mind.
This is a major collapse once again for this team.
Second time against Missouri, but we pulled it off.
But they get it, and now you get Florida.
You get a great opportunity tomorrow, right?
You got a chance.
I think it is kind of a no-lose game, right?
You know, last year we were in a similar game against Alabama.
We had lost twice during the year, really not been competitive in the games,
and then really weren't competitive a third time.
Be interesting to see if that happens again.
But I think this would be a big one if we're able to do it.
Yeah, all the pressures on Florida.
Kentucky can go out and just play carefree.
You know, they've done what they came to do, at least try to get to Friday.
They did that.
Just play Lucy Goosey.
Why is Mario wearing red Dickie's pants?
He's had those on all day.
Why'd you wear red?
I mean, red is our rival's color.
I understand, but you can wear blue.
Kentucky's playing today.
All right, all right.
Well, you got the victory.
Your man, Brandon Garrison, got a big defensive stop.
BG with the play.
859-280-2287.
we will take your calls.
Interesting about the crowd,
actually seemed like less people from Kentucky at the game today than yesterday.
Was it?
Because it sounded like it got loud in there a couple of times.
It did.
Well, maybe not.
Maybe there were more just,
the arena wasn't as full yesterday or as yesterday,
but it was spread out over the whole thing.
I think there were,
right game,
there were empty sections last time.
There weren't empty sections today.
But there's a lot of Tennessee fans.
that had tickets, and I think they were just coming in.
This game was ending.
But I'll tell you, tomorrow, Tennessee's losing right now by seven.
But if Tennessee wins and you get Kentucky, Florida, Vandy, Tennessee tomorrow,
that actually will probably be a packed out.
That's a college basketball junkie dream right there.
That's a great day.
Even if it's Auburn, Vandy, maybe not as big a crowd,
but that'll be a great, great two games.
Well, is the crowd for Auburn, Tennessee?
I haven't seen it.
Uh, me emptier. Kentucky fans left.
I thought maybe Kentucky fans might stay in route for Auburn against Tennessee.
Well, by the way, Miami of Ohio lost.
They did.
So can I just suggest what needs to happen?
Yeah, let's hear it.
First four, Billy, first four Auburn Miami in the playing game.
Who's not watching that?
That's a great way to get people to watch.
They got to do that.
Auburn, Miami in the playing game, come on.
Do you know who beat Miami of Ohio today?
UMass, right?
You know who their coach is?
Bruiser?
Frank Martin.
Oh, that's right.
Frank Martin is the coach.
Frank Martin has surfaced.
He's in Arkansas.
Yeah.
Yeah, Frank Martin.
Has surfaced, and he beat Miami of Ohio today.
And then after the game said, Miami of Ohio better make it.
You lost in the first round of the tournament to a very much underline.
You got let them in, though.
Who wants to see another terrible team instead of Miami?
Well, that's been my argument the whole time.
Yeah, I think I've come to your side.
Thank you.
But Jimmy Dykes can't use his line, though.
Can't say they haven't beat anybody because they've beat everybody.
He can't say that now.
By the way, Jimmy Dykes told the KSR story, but he got it wrong.
You got the pronunciation back.
He got the pronunciations flipped.
All right.
We're going to take a break.
Be right back.
Take your calls.
859-28027.
It's a local toy dealer's KSR post-game show.
Welcome back.
Local Toyota dealers, KSR post-game show, 859-280-2-287.
Dub.
We are here at Draft Kings doing great.
If you're in Nashville, Draft King is a great place.
to come watch the game they got all of them right here is
well this is a great area too
we're in the VIP area yeah I don't think everybody
is allowed back here so you don't need to gloat
it's very very where did you watch the game by the way
tin roof okay yeah Shannon I watched it at tin roof
were there were there were there packed upstairs
where we did the show I think a lot of those people
that didn't go to the game was everybody nervous
filled in it got it got kind of really
uneasy there when they took the lost the lead by one point
yeah a lot of a lot of words that might get me in trouble if I
said them on the air oh really yeah well don't say
them then. I would never do that. Okay. 859-280-2287. Who's up next? Brad. Brad. Go ahead. By the way, if you are
in Nashville, go to Tenroof. Shannon's playing. As soon as we finish this show, we're going to go there,
and you can say hello. But Shannon's playing right now at Tenroof if you are in Nashville,
want to go. Go ahead, Brad.
Hey, Matt, Brian. How are y'all doing? Doing good. Great win today. I don't know if y'all been
watching a little bit of this, but old dad
Dockech is back on his
lovely role. Who cares? Don't
Let me, here's what Dan
Docchich wants. Dan Dockich wants
your attention because if he
doesn't say crazy stuff,
he doesn't get any attention. So we
the thing you own
over Dan Dockich is your attention
so don't give it to it.
Perfect, perfect. Well,
it'd be great to see. You get a video
riding on the horse.
It hasn't happened yet.
I'm going to probably do it tomorrow or maybe Saturday, but it has not happened yet.
Well, be careful.
No, I don't want to do it.
I think it was a terrible decision by me.
I think I should get to average the two nights of points, at which point he only has nine.
That's a big fat no.
Now, I'm going to make you a deal.
What's that?
You scrape me eating by myself for a week.
You can scrape eating.
No, because there's other people that will be upset.
You don't get to speak for the whole Kentucky fan base.
Anything else, sir?
That's it, sir.
Appreciate you.
Have a good time down there.
Thank you.
We are having a good time.
It's good.
I think you're, you could start to feel the big blue mist a little bit more.
And you felt it this morning at the show, too.
You know, I think most fans would have been happy just to get to this point, win the first two games and then play Florida.
But now that we're here, I'm like, let's just beat Florida.
But what if you win?
Let's just go out and get it, man.
Let's just go win a title.
Let's just go win a title.
Mario, it's not that hard.
It's not that hard.
It's just three and three.
We won one in 2018.
Like, why don't we just go ahead and do it?
By the way, first time we've won two games at the SEC tournament since 2018.
Which is very sad.
Very, very sad.
How about that?
First time we won two games since 2018.
That was the Shay team the last time we won the tournament.
Yeah.
Who's next?
Moffat.
Moffitt. Go ahead, Moffat.
Hi, guys.
What a fun game.
I got so nervous at work.
I had to pull over.
listen, turn the phone on, or the game on my phone, actually watch it.
I've been there.
Nothing makes a work day better than a good Kentucky win.
I hope we beat Florida tomorrow.
I'm feeling good.
I'm going to give a shout out to my son, Marcus.
Go big blue, let's go beat Florida.
Let's do it.
I will say, though, these games during the day that we win, that's kind of fun.
It is fun.
Now we've got the rest of the day to kind of soak it in and enjoy it.
That's right.
You know, we're in a suite tonight.
Those games tonight are going to be awful.
It's like Georgia versus Old Miss, Texas A&M, Oklahoma.
I wouldn't watch those games if they were playing them in my house.
But we are going tonight to enjoy it.
Well, you guys will have fun and not watch one second in the game.
What's you guys?
You're not going to go?
I didn't know I was invited.
You're always invited.
Or at least sometimes.
I thought that was the trancy boys.
No, I think we got enough tickets.
I'll figure.
I think we did.
All right, who's next?
Autumn.
Autumn.
Go ahead, Autumn.
Hey, Matt.
I just wanted to say, you kind of stole my thunder a little bit earlier today with not calling out the trolls.
But you know what?
I have set back all season and just let people's idiotic takes on Coach Mark Pope go.
But you know what?
We are in tournament season time and enough is enough.
Jay Wallace and Big Blue Nation hashtag BBN,
you all need to turn in your fan card and delete your ex-Twitter account
because I am so sick and tired of you all constantly ragging on Pope.
And you know what?
Who are you talking about?
Autumn, who are you talking about?
Jay Wallace and Big Blue Nation hashtag BBN.
They're on X.
I don't know who those people are, but okay.
We can turn in their big blue fan cards because it's tournament time,
and we only want people who are ready to support not only the players, but Coach Pope.
Thank you, Go Kat.
There you go.
Love it.
Who's Jay Wallace?
I don't know, but.
He just got called out on non-statewide radio, whoever that is, and hashtag BBN.
I'll make her life a lot easier.
Just learn how to do the block button.
Block them and you don't have to ever have to see.
Oh, I've learned that from you.
I bought people.
You make one.
It doesn't take much for me.
me now. They say something bad about you, Pope, me, whoever my friends, you get blocked.
Automatic.
There's like, if you say anything personal, or if you go, you stupid, lib.
Yeah. Block. Just block them.
Yeah. No, you know, part of why I said that about Dockich is, I think Kentucky fans have a right
to express frustration, as long as they do it in a respectful way, about the team, the coach, whatever.
But people who have no skin in the game, so people who are not Kentucky fans, like, what do you care what they say?
Especially people that don't, I mean, Docch doesn't have a plat, like, who cares?
It's one thing if they're on ESPN and like you have to listen to them.
Yeah.
But this is different.
You don't have to listen to him.
No, he wants to poke the bear.
He wants attention.
Yeah, that's right.
I mean, that's what he wants.
And it's, you know, it is what it is.
When I was pacing outside.
So I watched five minutes to go to like two and a half minutes outside the.
arena. But there's a big screen, like where the fan fest is. I was watching it there. And, you know,
most Kentucky fans are in the game, so nobody's talking to me. This Auburn fan comes up to me.
He's a very nice guy, but talking about how he likes me from far, and he won't stop talking.
And, like, we're in the big possession. Like Aberdeen shooting those free throws, and he's just like,
I wanted to go, man, it's two minutes to go. And he looks at him, he goes, this game's close,
isn't it? And I was like, yes.
Don't you wish you could appreciate the call
You promise you can't appreciate the person
You're not allowed
Appreciate the call sir
I got to watch this free to do that
Who's next?
Eric is next Eric
Go ahead Eric
Hey Matt
This is Eric from Cincinnati
I have two things
One's like I want to talk about the game
And it's a positive note
And I have one thing I've been dying
To talk to you about from UK athletics
On a more negative note
Is that okay
Sure go ahead
Okay
Well the first thing
was, me, like everyone has had my issues with Pope, but I think that, like, overall,
these past two games, like, the effort is outstanding.
Like, people are playing hard.
Brandon Garrison's had his two best games probably of the year.
If we could just have hit open threes this game, I don't think it would have been close,
honestly.
How many open threes did we kind of?
Yeah, we did miss.
We missed, like, well, at one point, I tweeted about this.
we were up like 13 or 14
and both Chandler and Cam
had wide open threes that I think if they hit
they bust the game open and they missed them both
so that you're right if you hit open threes
now they might say you know they missed
they missed I think quite a few open ones too
but nevertheless go ahead
yeah I just think like they just played tough
and everything and
not a great memory but it's what we always think
like I thought we were so much better than Auburn back in like 2019, but it's hard to beat
a team three times in a row, so that's just how it is.
Yeah, what's your other thing?
This is on a negative note. This isn't about any players, but this is just something
I still think it's unacceptable. I think the money going around with like Eli and Mitch
is just unacceptable. I remember when I was a student in 2019 and they're raising everyone's
tuition, and yet somehow Eli is getting a couple hundred thousand.
dollar raise. I just think it's disgusting, honestly, how they're throwing money around to each other like it's nothing.
Well, I mean, you know, and I appreciate the call. There's going to be plenty of time for them to
sort of answer that. I asked on, I guess, what is today? Today's Thursday. So I guess I asked on Tuesday
to have either Eli on or have a statement about the decision to add $1.8 million, and they said they
get back with me and I still haven't heard anything. So that's where he goes.
They'll contact you at midnight on, right before you go on vacation. Right now. Yeah,
right for you on vacation. Yeah. Who's next? Darren.
Darren, go ahead, Darren. By the way, Louisville's down 5749 to Jay Lucas,
who looks exactly like he did when he was the Cdine high school. Go ahead.
Darren, yes.
Got a question on referee. I can't stand Pat Adams almost as bad as I can't stand Doug
shouts and the question is is there some sort of accountability by the SEC or the NCAA like how
they grade them on their performance to kind of keep them accountable well the NCAA from what
I understand the NCAA actually does grades for the tournament and you know they they pick
the best guys to be in the tournament and they grade them as they go um the SEC says they do
do the same, but I also think, like, once you're kind of an SEC guy, you kind of are.
But remember, like, Pat Adams doesn't just do SEC.
He does a number of conferences.
But, yeah, I mean, my thing, I actually don't think Pat Adams is a bad referee.
My problem with Pat Adams is he likes to be on television, and I don't like referees that
like to hear that, to be on television.
Correct.
He and Doug Shows both.
I don't think they can blow their nose or wipe their backside
without reviewing that monitor, you know what I mean?
Yeah, I appreciate the call.
Doesn't it feel like I don't know if we've just had more hits to the face
or people just care?
Like it feels like we've got more flagrants to the face
in these two games than I've seen all year.
Yeah, Malachi's got a black eye from taking an elbow to the face last night.
And the one, I mean, we only make.
one free throw from it, but the one for Diabate was a little bit of a godsend there.
Yes, it was.
I didn't even see it coming.
It was an, whatever it was, unobserved, unobserved, unobserved,
unobserved flagrant.
You know, the way the rules are, any hand to the face or whatever to the face,
they're calling it regardless.
It feels like that's a little, though.
I mean, it's one thing if you hit the guy in the face.
It's another thing if you just, like, I honestly felt.
like with the one there with with with the abate i don't know sometimes i mean they're not trying to
hit them if you're just making a basketball move or a basketball play you but i mean that's what
they do in the NFL with with with hits to the helmet with quarterbacks whether you mean to or not
it doesn't really matter so right uh we'll do one more and we'll take a break who's next
dave dave go ahead dave hey um glad we won today relieved looking forward to play in florida again
for the third time.
But can we get
someone other than Jimmy Docs to call a game?
He shouted out, you guys,
and the Malachi Marino's mom call in,
and he got the pronunciation of the Moreno.
I know.
So I went up to him after the game.
He had everybody on the set.
I went up to him after the game,
and I told him that he had flipped it,
and he said, oh,
I bet Big Blue Nation won't say anything to me
about that online,
and I said,
don't check your Twitter
because everybody had
everybody had written him
I mean he was trying to
it's nice
he was trying to tell the story
but it didn't really
didn't really work out
and in the
talking about the flagrant
fouls to the face
the one on Jasper Johnson
was definitely should have been
a flagrant that's one they missed
they took his head off
I didn't understand why that one was not
you're right after I just said they call it all the time
I don't I don't think
he did it on purpose there but if
he
Get him in the face.
I mean, I don't understand why that one wasn't.
That's what Jimmy was saying, too.
He's like, that's clearly a hand to the face.
That should be a flagrant one, and they didn't even waved that one off.
Yeah, I'm with you, sir.
I don't know why they did that.
But appreciate the call.
Looking forward to tomorrow.
Go catch.
Me too.
859-2-80-22.
Remember, tomorrow's game is at one Easter.
Correct.
So it's actually 30 minutes later than the game today.
It moves back to the normal time of 1 o'clock.
Right, 1 o'clock.
So our KSR is at normal time tomorrow?
It will be.
We will have a pre-show tomorrow from 9 to 10.
It'll be Shannon and Billy, and then we will do 10 to 1130.
So it'll only be an hour and a half tomorrow.
Still TBA on location and all that, we hopefully will know before the end of this show.
So we're going to take a break and be right back.
It's the local toy dealers, KSR Post-Game Show.
All right, welcome back.
It is the local toy dealers KSR post-game show.
All right, we just got it worked out.
So tomorrow we will do KSR live at 10 roof in the morning.
It'll be the regular time for the show.
So it will be 9 central 10 Eastern.
We will be at 10 roof.
Hopefully I'll know before this show ends what time they will open the doors.
But we are going to be at 10 roof for an hour and a half, 9 to 10.30.
May have a couple special guests as well.
So we weren't going to do it Friday.
But you know what?
The excitement has overcome us.
And now we're going to do it.
Might as well.
I mean, we're playing Florida tomorrow, the chance for a huge best win of the season.
So why not get everybody fired up as they go into the arena?
That means you can't let me yell tonight because I've got to keep my voice.
Keep your voice.
And we can't let you get injured on the electrical bull tonight either.
Yeah, well, I'm not doing it tonight.
If I do it like, I think my thought is if we lose tomorrow, maybe do it tomorrow night.
If we win tomorrow, hold off for maybe Saturday night.
I have to be able to get on that plane to go to ESPN Sunday morning, though.
So you can't get on that plane.
and I missed the bracket show.
It is on you.
Not me.
No, I'm trying to give you a pass here and not do it tonight.
I'm not doing it tonight because we're playing tomorrow.
I want to hurt my back and then not be able to stand tomorrow.
I see you walking into the ESPN studios on crutches.
Also, well, I cannot get hurt.
That's a big deal for you.
I could not get hurt this weekend.
I'm just saying.
Who's next?
Let's give our Johnny Rocker, personal injury attorney moneymaker of the game, Matt.
Injured to small town compassion with big city results when you call the Rocker at 270 321-429.
And I think because of his offensive and defensive performance at the end of the game, we go with Otega Owe.
21 points, 9 of 18 from the field.
He's the first Kentucky player to score 20 plus points in two games in the SEC tournament since Deerran Fox.
Oh, really?
In 35 minutes, he was plus seven on the plus minus.
Otega O'A is our player.
he was great tonight.
You know, it's easy to focus on the defense, great defense.
We did not play on the bigs.
I actually thought our defense on the perimeter players for Missouri was pretty good.
It really was.
They didn't hurt us there.
It was the big guys.
But him doubling down at the end was the difference.
He was a superstar today.
He proved today that he should have been first team all SEC, not second team.
One person writes, Matt, would you call today a AOC game?
It was.
Definitely AOC.
Aberdeen O.A.
Chandler.
combined for, let's see, 52 of our 78 points.
52 of our 78 points for O.A, ABRidee and Chandler.
AOC.
AOC.
And like we talked about earlier, they each made plays when we needed it the most.
You know, they made some mistakes, but when we needed them, they were there for us.
By the way, Aberdeen had seven assists.
How many turnovers?
I don't think we had one bad turnover.
Yeah, Aberdeen had seven assists, one turnover.
So he took a couple bad shots.
But, you know, you give me 16 and 7 if you're, if you're Aberdeen, I'll take that.
And, you know, the Florida guards match up pretty well with AOC.
So if our big guys can kind of hold their own with their front court.
I don't think people like that nickname.
I kind of like it.
AOC.
I mean, I would do the same thing if we had a player whose name was like M-A-G-A.
You know I would.
Would you?
I don't know.
Who's next?
Kentucky Chucky.
Ducky Chucky, go ahead, sir.
What's going on, Matt, and Ryan?
What's up?
How you got to do?
A long time, no talk.
Not much, man.
Hey, listen, likewise, fellas, y'all stay safe down there.
Listen, this may sound stupid, and I know you talk to Jimmy Dyke.
You know, you got that personal celebrity relationship.
It's not a celebrity relationship, no.
Oh, come on, Matt.
You know you the man, but I'm going to move on from that.
But my question is, is it part of his stick to talk in basketball terminology
that nobody understands.
Maybe a little bit.
I mean, he's, you know,
not just because he's always nice.
I actually think he's a good announcer.
I think it's tough because we have him so much
and he's not actively rooting for UK like Tom and Jack
that, Chucky, I think we tend to, you know,
he frustrates this because we have him so much.
I mean, the same thing used to happen with Vital,
and I think that's probably,
I mean, we've had him like 10 times a year for the last 20 years.
So I think, don't you think that's part of it?
It could be, but could you do me a favor when you talk to him?
Could you ask him, you know, when he uses these, you know,
the guy on the pin down, got to do the floppy dog ear thing?
Could he explain me what that means?
I actually think that's a fair question.
I think that's a completely fair question.
I think that's fair.
I appreciate it.
Good to hear from you, Chucky.
Because they do say floppy action a lot.
They do.
And I don't know how many people in our fan base.
Can you explain to people with floppy action?
No, and I grew up in a basketball household.
I didn't start using, I've never heard the word floppy basketball until, like, I think, last year.
He does say floppy action a lot without explaining what it is.
I agreed, and I really don't know what it is.
Yeah.
No, I think that's a completely, completely fair.
I got a point for you.
What did Colin Chandler not wear today?
No T-Shallie.
He was asked about that.
Tyler Thompson asked him about it.
And Tyler, and he said that, uh,
he didn't think about that.
But it is worth noting he played well and he did not have a T-shirt on.
Played well against Vandy.
Hore the shirt against A&M played bad.
Or the shirt against Florida played bad.
Did not wear the shirt last night.
Yeah.
Didn't wear the shirt today.
I think that's...
I got one more.
Guess who was in the stands?
Brandon Garrison's son.
Yes.
Two for two.
All right, who's next?
Nancy.
Nancy, go ahead.
Hey, Matt and Ryan.
nail biter for sure today another one but I have to give Mo Diabate some credit you know he's still
observing Ramadan and you really got to give him credit he's being really tough out there
and not being able to drink or eat is something you know to be credited for and that's all I got
yeah go cats let's hope we have a win tomorrow I love it they get him up before sunrise
so he can eat a hearty breakfast and that's got to last him all the way until sundown
But so since he's...
I asked him about that in the post game.
Yeah.
And he said, Pope goes, what time do you get to eat today?
And he said 6.51 p.m.
He knew the exact minute that he gets to start eating food.
But think about it.
He's playing two of these games, and he doesn't get to drink water during the game.
So these early games may be beneficial for him
because he's actually playing on some energy from his early morning breakfast.
Well, I mean, by...
He's played pretty well these two games.
I know, but the game starts.
at 11.30 local time, and he has to eat at 7.30.
You think he's still got the energy four hours later?
Oh, yeah.
Okay.
Yeah.
I was still full after my big breakfast I ate this morning, Continental Breakfast.
Okay.
Tenroof will open the doors in the morning at 8 a.m.
8 a.m. Okay.
So if you want to get your seat, we will go 9 to 10.30.
The pre-show will not be at 10-roof.
So we will only do KSR at 10 room.
But they'll open the doors at 8 so you can get a table and get yourself, get some brew.
before the game.
It's like old school KSR down here,
but we're doing back-to-back shows at 10 Roof, man.
That's true.
We've only done one for so many.
I didn't even schedule the Friday show
because I was like, I don't want to be disappointed again,
and now we're going to get to do it.
Well, I love it.
It's back to the old school ways.
Mario even has a graphic.
Let me see if this graphic looks good, Mario.
Mario's good at that stuff.
Yeah, to put something on there that's like special,
you know, I don't know, something that's suggesting like
we're just decided to do it.
What would the word be?
This is how Mario and I come up with us up.
What would we say?
Breaking news.
It's not breaking news exactly.
It's like...
Surprise.
Surprise.
Surprise show.
No, no, not you, ma'am.
She thought that was saying surprise to her.
I'm sorry.
I scared her.
I was like, surprise.
Scared her.
All right.
Yeah, surprise Friday morning show.
There you go.
All right, who's next?
Casey.
Casey.
Go ahead, Casey.
Hey, Matt.
My daddy used to make me listen to these shows grown up, and I hated it,
and I can't believe I'm calling in the one now, but I had to tell you.
You don't still hate it, do you?
You don't, I mean, you don't still hate it now.
Okay, good, okay.
All right.
But my son is nine years old, huge fan.
We were at the Florida game last week.
I was excited to pick him up from school yesterday, tell him that we won.
He said, I know.
He said, I had a tab open on my code book while we were doing work, and I kept
with the live score.
It's my kind of kid.
I know. I know. I'm raising it right. I just had to tell you that. Love your show back.
Appreciate the call. And Jackson should get to skip school tomorrow, too.
Well, you put out the school. That's three straight days. I have put out for people I haven't seen. If you go on X, Mario, put this on the Facebook page. The note. We have a note for kids so they don't have to go to school.
School excuse. It's a school excuse. And basically it says that your kid is working for KSR.
Yes.
Now, of course, none of your kids are working for KSR. But their teacher doesn't have to know that.
Right.
Right.
They're on a special, so it's a collective lie to the state.
So every parent should download that.
And give it to your school.
Edit it for your kid.
Give it to the school, and your kid can stay home and watch a catch-meet.
Somebody just noted, Moreno, Aberdeen, Garrison, and Andrea Yellovich would be MAGA.
It would be.
So that combination is on the floor.
We've got to call it the MAGA combination.
It's the MAGA team.
Yeah, we don't ever have three.
We don't ever have three bigs at once, though.
I'm going to ask Pope to do it.
You know, we'll keep AOC as much as much.
Oh, and then somebody was like, Matt, Denzel, Yelovich, Trent Noah is DJT.
That's Donald J. Trump.
Well, there we go.
We got all kind of new nicknames.
Yeah, we're not going to.
That one I'm not doing.
There's two games in a row.
Trent's not played.
I don't think he's going to play with Cam.
I think Cam's got his minutes, don't you?
Cam hit one from the logo today.
Jack that one up from the logo.
Yeah. I mean, I think Cam allows you, the only thing Noah gives you more than Cam is rebounding.
Cam's not a very good rebounder, but.
It seemed like a lot of the time, though, Cam was a non-factor today.
Well, I do, I mean, played 13 minutes. It doesn't feel like he played that long.
But I think those are 13 important minutes.
Stretches the defense.
And you also have, like, I'm sitting here looking at the minutes for O.A. Aberdeen and Chandler.
You know, 08 played 34, Aberdeen, 35, Chandler, 33.
So that's nine, that's 16 minutes they don't play.
Williams gets 13 of those.
And I think that's helpful.
I was going to say earlier, just having him out there,
the defenses have to honor him because they know he can jack one from anywhere.
Yeah, who's next?
Grayson.
Grayson.
Go ahead, Grayson.
Hey, Matt.
I'm Grayson from.
Austin, and I was wondering what you thought about in the SEC tournament.
Well, it's been fun so far.
Two for two, Grayson, and Austin.
Wish you were here.
Tennessee and Auburn playing.
By the way, who are you for?
I think I'm for Auburn.
I'm absolutely for Auburn.
I appreciate the car.
Yeah, I think I like to see Auburn win.
You get Auburn and Vandy.
I feel like we could beat either one of those teams if we beat Florida.
Absolutely.
So beating Tennessee three times a year would be hard.
That'd be hard.
I want, you know, my brother's family are all Auburn people,
so I kind of root for them when I can.
So I'm definitely rooting for Auburn to win.
Yeah, I think Auburn is playing for the tournament.
If they win this game, I think they're probably in.
If they don't, they might still be in,
but I think this would get them in if they won today.
Yeah, they explained Miami of Ohio losing kind of bumped Auburn to the first four out.
Yeah, Louisville is down four to Miami with four minutes to go.
I know Terry Miners is sitting.
in that WHAS studio being nervous about it.
We'll see what ends up happening.
All right, who's up next?
Cody.
Cody, go ahead, Cody.
Hey, Matt.
What's up?
I've been seeing on X that there's rumors flying around about JQ playing tomorrow.
You guys know anything about that?
I think that's very unlikely, yeah.
I mean, you know, I, he didn't, I watched, he didn't, quite didn't he's did any warm up today.
Like he's done, from what I understand, he hasn't done anything with the team.
So I don't know where those rumors come from when he's not even practicing with the team.
Why would he go, how's he going to play?
I mean, the guy who knows all this is Mario, he's got the plug.
If you'll stop eating chicken fingers and answer the question, do you think he'll play tomorrow?
No, I think the answer is no.
I haven't seen the rumors, but I think it's no.
We talked about it earlier the last time he played was the Missouri loss at home.
That's the last time he played in a Kentucky uniform.
Yeah, 859-280-2287.
You're going to take a break.
Cats in Florida.
We'll get their third attempt at it tomorrow,
and we're going to do KSR live tomorrow in Tim Roof,
which we didn't think we were going to do.
We'll take a break and be right back.
It's the local Toyota Dealer's KSR Post-Game Show.
Welcome back.
It is the local Toyota dealers KSR post-game show.
Remember, we are on the road to the SEC tournament,
which of course is sponsored by Clayton and Kroom
and our favorite Burt Tavern.
Bourbon, which we've learned about this trip.
Clayton Kroom has a new store here in Nashville.
While you're in town, you should check it out.
It is, where is it in town here?
12 south.
Is that up road?
Why not?
South?
It's over there by north.
That's not a...
It's north one way and south the other way.
Does it?
Well, anyway, Clayton and Kroom has belts, leather bags.
They've been a great sponsor of ours, and I have...
I get a ton of stuff from there, so do you all do.
It was a new store on 12 South in Nashville.
I was right.
12 South.
That must be like a shopping center.
Oh, it's got to be, yeah.
Then Bert Tavern there in Garrett County.
Thank you to them for sponsoring us on the road at the SEC tournament,
which now goes another day.
Another day.
Like I said, most I think UK fans were hoping just to get to Friday.
Now that we're here, I think they're going to keep it going.
I mean, you take away that 11 to nothing,
run to Florida open the game with.
We outscored him the rest of the way.
I agree.
We'll just carry that on into this game.
Who's up next?
Kevin.
Kevin, go ahead.
Hey, guys, what's up?
I just wanted to tell you, I listened to the game on the radio with Tom and Goose,
and it was something funny that they did.
I guess there was a play where they were reviewing a foul for Be a Flagrant,
and Goose said that some friend of his was there who he knew from the Milwaukee Bucks
that was reviewing, he was reviewing the referee, like, judging him or whatever.
And then, like, and he said, I just asked my friend, and my friend said, it's common foul, you know.
So, like, a couple plays later, I guess Moreno gets held, and they, like, pull his jersey, you know,
and he's stretching it out.
They don't call nothing.
And a goose goes, how could they miss that call?
And Tom goes, I ask your buddy over there.
That's a good question.
I actually thought the officiating was pretty good today, to be honest with you.
All things can see.
I don't think the referees played a role, which is the best you can ask, right?
Although they miss that goal-tending.
I'm glad that didn't happen against us.
That's probably the most glaring mistake they made.
They called the double technical when it probably should have been called a double technical
and Brandon Garrison, their guy kind of shoved each other.
By the way, I love Brandon Garrison and the other guy started it, but my man, again,
The game is over.
The only way you'll lose it is getting involved in an altercation.
Don't get involved in an altercation, right?
Like you said, what's Kentucky's record when he gets a technical?
That's true.
He's undefeated when he gets a technical.
So keep it going?
I think he should get one of the first minute of the game tomorrow.
All right, stop, slow down.
Who's up next?
Rebecca.
Rebecca.
Go ahead, Rebecca.
Hi, guys.
I just wanted to share my favorite part of the game today.
I'm a teacher, and so I got to put on the game for my students this afternoon while they work.
And I just got to sit back and watch them cheering along and enjoying it
and realizing that 20-plus years ago I was sitting in a classroom just like them enjoying this.
And the tradition of UK basketball just keeps getting passed on.
And the bonus is since we won, we get to do it all again tomorrow.
Love it. That's very cool. And I agree with you. I mean, I understand that, you know, I understand there's learning to take place.
But your kids have a better chance of remembering that than anything else. And you get to connect it to when you were in school. I love it. Great stuff.
Thanks.
Appreciate the call. Auburn's up 10 on Tennessee. Miami is up one on Louisville with a minute and 12 seconds.
On WHAS, Terry Miners will follow us. His happiness or sadness could depend on the next minute,
in 12 seconds. We'll do four more.
Who's next? Thomas.
Thomas. Go ahead, Thomas.
Yeah, I love the guard play. They'll talk a lot
about that, but we have some peripheral
stats that are great, too.
I know Garrison drives us crazy, but he had four
blocked shots. He did, yeah. I thought
he actually had five, but he
only gave him credit for four, but go ahead.
Yeah, we had nine blocked shots.
That's kind of worth ten points.
You got Yelovich and
Diabate on offensive rebounding.
They were, I mean, seven to six.
Those are the largest numbers.
These peripheral players doing their row, that's substantial.
You're exactly right about that.
And I think Diabate and Yellovich specifically, you're right.
They do a couple things that you don't necessarily stick out, but they're big plays.
And usually it's Yellovich in the first half that does it, sir, and Diabate in the second half.
Yeah, it's a team effort.
I completely agree with you.
Appreciate the call.
Three more.
Who's next?
Danny.
Danny, go ahead, Danny.
Hey, guys, I know it's a fun trip,
but Pennsylvania Kentucky wins.
But Kentucky did it again.
They won on my birthday.
I'm 62 years old today.
And fortunately, I get to follow Kentucky.
And they always usually do very well on the SEC tournament.
So it's been a wonderful day.
Well, happy birthday.
How are you going to celebrate it?
You've got a treat for yourself.
if you're going to go have dinner somewhere nice?
No, we're going out tonight to one of our favorite Mexican restaurants in LaGrange, or Creswick, Kentucky.
We're going to Gustavo's Mexican restaurant.
Oh, he's a good guy.
Well, good.
We'll enjoy it.
Chavez is a great friend of ours.
We've known him for a long time.
That's my man, I told you.
You won't have fun and be careful on the bull there, Matt.
Appreciate the.
call. So tomorrow, by the way, if you are in Lexington, KS. Bar will be open to watch the game
tomorrow as well. So show up there and scream and get us a victory. You know, I think Mayor
Linda Gorton tomorrow and Lexington should just shut Lexington down at 1 o'clock tomorrow. Let
schools out, shut all the businesses, let everybody go home. Don't shut all the businesses. We need to be
open in order to have the game on at KS bar. I don't think we should shut all the businesses.
See, I'm thinking I'll shut the business. They would come to our restaurant. So all the business is. We
qualify we are a business just our place shut all down all the business but shut them all down except
ours that's why they come for lunch we have a good you know watch party for the game tomorrow
school needs to be let out so by go home and watch the game with their with their parents it's a good
holiday all right well i don't know if she'll go for that but uh two more who's next
Nate Nate go ahead Nate hey hey man how's it going thanks for taking my call
I thought it was a great game today one frustrating thing I had
with this team and it seems to happen a lot this year.
We just give up that one big game, that one guy on the team.
Mitchell had 32 points today.
McKinnon had 28 points yesterday for LSU.
That's 60 points we've given up just two players over the last two games.
I mean, what can we do?
McKinnon really frustrated me yesterday, but I have to tell you,
I don't know that Kentucky could have done a whole lot with Mitchell.
I mean, you know, you could make a decision to double him earlier
and tried to get somebody to beat you, which they did at the very end.
But he was kind of a hoss.
And some of those shots, you know, sometimes he hit it.
You know, he got open.
But a lot of times those were just contested shots, Ryan,
where he just overpowered our guy and said, I'm scoring.
Yeah, there were a couple times we played really good defense on him,
and he still scored in the basket.
There's nothing you can do about that.
Yeah.
Then there was that one play.
He took that wide over three there towards the end of the second half.
I could, nobody.
I could, well, Moreno, so Moreno was laying off of him, and he hit that three.
Yep.
And part of me was like, why didn't you get out there?
But then on the other hand, it's probably you'd rather him take that shot than try to drive to the basket.
So, you know, sometimes you just got to say a dude's playing well, and to some extent he was doing that.
Yeah, he had a phenomenal game today.
I just hate to see that happen to do it for a cat.
Yeah, well, I appreciate the call.
Charles Barkley always says, you know, you get a guy who's playing circuit.
There's really nothing you could do.
You know, you're not going to be able to stop.
And I'm not saying he's like that normally, but he was kind of like that today.
Cock the caller said he wasn't just doing it inside.
He was getting it done outside.
Yes, he was.
We'll do one more, and then we'll call it a day.
Cain's lead 7370, by the way, 35 seconds to go.
Go ahead.
Terry Miners.
Oh, Terry Miners is on the line.
Terry, it's a four-point game.
Ryan,
Come to my window.
Why did you do that?
That's just Terry and I are our little song we sing to each other.
Okay.
That's his song on here.
Matt, you talk more on this after show than a guy doing a filibuster for four days in Washington, D.C.
Good.
Golly Miss Molly.
The cats are going to beat Florida tomorrow.
I love it.
I don't know they're going to win the tournament, but I think they're going to beat Florida.
just as the way it is.
But can I have like three minutes of my own show because it's almost over?
We can feel time.
You know what?
I was going to take one more call, but you do.
You get to have a show.
I take up most of your show yesterday and today, so I will shut up so you can go on the air, okay?
You are the best, Matt Jones.
I love you, Terry.
Ryan, anytime he starts babbling like that, just hit him upside to head with the skill and let you other.
guys talk a little bit.
Come to my window.
That's why I don't want to talk.
Okay, see now, let's get you all off.
Thank you very much.
There you go.
Louisville is down three with 20 seconds to go.
The Terry Minor show is next on WHA.
For the rest of you, I will see you tomorrow morning.
10 Eastern 9 Central pre-show will be with Billy and Shannon at 9.
I'll be back at 10 with the guys live from 10 roof.
Cats win.
What was the final score?
78, 72?
I think that's right.
Close enough.
We'll see you later.
