Starting point is 00:00:00 Another podcast from some SNL late-night comedy guy, not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and Friends. Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier. This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidel help an a cappella band with their between songs banter. Where does your group perform? We do some retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter.
Starting point is 00:00:23 Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel and Friends on the I-Heart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Last night, a blown call changed a game. This morning, the internet lost its mind, and nobody's telling you exactly what happened. That's where SportsSlice comes in. I'm Timbo, and every episode, we're cutting through the noise, breaking down the biggest moments in sports and giving you the real story behind the headlines. And we're going straight to the source, the athletes themselves, their locker room stories,
Starting point is 00:00:52 their reactions in the moment, and the stuff nobody gets to hear. Listen to Sports Slice on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your And for more, follow Timbo Slica Life 12 in the TikTok podcast network on TikTok. What's up, guys? This is Clivert Taylor the 4th. And on my podcast, The Cliverts show, I'm bringing you conversations about all kinds of stuff. Like being an internet famous referee.
Starting point is 00:01:14 We're in the middle of a game. This linebacker, this linebacker walks up to me. He goes, hey, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her. What? Time out. Quarterback on office blue 42. A rep. My mama want you to wave at her.
Starting point is 00:01:30 What? Where's he at? Hey, Miss Parker. Listen to the Clifford Show on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. This is Saigon, the story of my family and of the country that shaped us. From IHeart Podcast, Saigon. You don't think I'm serious about a free Vietnam? One city, a divided country, and the war that tore America apart.
Starting point is 00:01:59 This is for Vietnam. They're pouring Patrick all over here. Freedom for Vietnam! There's a fire coming to this country, and it's going to burn out everything. Listen to Saigon on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Welcome, everyone. It is the local Toyota Dealer's KSR Postgame Show. For the second time, we are here live in San Francisco, ready to bring you some good Kentucky, Oklahoma post-game reactions.
Starting point is 00:02:29 It's cats win 94 to 78. I'm Matt Jones, Drew Franklin, Billy R Sports, and Mario Maitland. All we are in Billy's Room here on the, well, I'm not going to say what, floor of the hotel. We don't need people, we don't need the paparazzi coming to see Billy, but we are here ready to go. Just had some Korean food. It feels like we've been up for 43 straight hours, but we're rocking and rolling, and we got to watch Kentucky win 9478. in an SEC game that they actually handled with relative control for most of the game,
Starting point is 00:03:02 one that we definitely needed. Drew, this has been a top five KSR day of all time. Been one of my favorite working days of all time. We'll save a lot of that for the show tomorrow. But it's been an excellent day and glad to finish it here tonight. Yes, it has been an all-timer, but an absolute dream, and we got to end it watching Kentucky. Couldn't be there, but followed it from out here.
Starting point is 00:03:27 There's a game, you know, just get past this one. Hand of your business at home, however it looks. Just get out of there with a win. It's now, what, seven out of eight, you got some momentum, looking good. They end up pulling away at the end, even to build on that confidence. So I'm just, I'm glad we could exhale. Never was too worried about it, but it's one that you couldn't slip up and lose all your great momentum before.
Starting point is 00:03:46 It's the Brandon Garrison game, right? And I want to go into some detail because I think this is maybe the best game of his career. But, you know, since we're out on the road, we decided we were going to have everybody. This has been a top, this has got to be Billy's best day. He's on fire. Maybe the last five or six minutes a little stressful. But besides that, this has got to be like your best day of your life. Tom Hart with multiple references during the game to you.
Starting point is 00:04:14 Mentioned quarter zips. Mentioned digital business cards. Mention finding a new job. Billy, are you serious? Billy are you serious? This had to be awesome. Even mention one for Ryan, working him up into a lather. All of that happening during the game, this has to be a great.
Starting point is 00:04:32 And then you were at your dream. You've wanted to be on Media Row your entire life, and you got to do that today. Yeah, it's hard to put into words what this day is meant to me, guys. I mean, I've still got my quarter zip on, and I don't want to take it off. It's been such a great day. You turned it inside out. And I flipped it and reversed it here a little bit. So I was all business with the blue and now with the gray.
Starting point is 00:04:52 But thanks, Tom, for those mentions. and him tweeting during the game was like a, wow. That's a funny moment. You deserve it. Before you go leave us for a new job. Tomorrow. Oh, that's it. What a great way to go out.
Starting point is 00:05:09 Before you go find a new job, Mario. It's been an awesome day, hasn't it? It has, man. Really cool setup that Super Bowl's having San Francisco, like, as a whole. It's a really cool setup. It's really cool what they do with that Super Bowl. It's very cool, man. I'm just having fun, man.
Starting point is 00:05:26 You guys are a lot. Listen, this is not, this is going to be a different kind of post game show. I'm just going to go ahead and warn you. It's late at night. Here's the thing. We missed the first half of the game. So I'm just going to acknowledge that up front. We had to go to an ESPN thing,
Starting point is 00:05:41 which was for the Rich Eisen. Rich Eisen's doing a podcast series called This Was Sports Center, about the history of Sports Center. And he had Chris Berman as his guest. And we had to go to the podcast. party before because I had to meet all of the various ESPN bosses. I took these fools with me. And so we missed the first half. So like honestly, you all know more about what happened in the first half than us. So feel free to call and tell us about it. It would be like we're learning
Starting point is 00:06:11 to Drew. We did watch the second half, but we were going to have to learn about the first half. Billy was trying to be sly with the game on his phone and party, but it was very obvious that we were trying to watch. The president of the ESPN was right. at the table next to us, and Billy in this social gathering, pulls out his phone and is watching, and I was like, Bill, you have to put that away. Well, I did my networking at Radio Row. You were doing
Starting point is 00:06:34 your networking in that moment. But we are at a VIP event, and you can't watch television. Well, I am the co-host of a post-game show. I mean, at least he wasn't watching a different network. That is a good point. You were watching. Hey, the app was. That's right. You were watching that.
Starting point is 00:06:50 Brandon Garrison, big time game. 20 points. first double double of his Kentucky career, which I didn't realize, played with aggression. There's something he must like about Oklahoma. Yeah, he's from there. He grew up in that rivalry and around it. We know the games last year how passionate it was. I remember it was a big deal that he had his son at the games in Oklahoma last year.
Starting point is 00:07:11 He played well in front of him. Then he had him out on the court after doing it against a night. But that logo, man, it triggers him. I mean, he starts seeing red when the Sooners are out there. And now Kentucky's what, three and O because of it. He and O way both. They step it up when. Oklahoma's on the other side. What I love is 20 points, 11 rebounds, only misses one shot.
Starting point is 00:07:29 Good shot selection, didn't play out of control. Billy, this is, I mean, this is, obviously, you'd love to have it all the time, but I'll take any, I'll take half of this from Brandon Gers. Sometimes you get really good BG, most of the time you get really bad BG, but. Annie almost got in a fight again, which was nice. Dunked at the end. It's a pound of a guy with 1.3 seconds left. Well, I mean, you're going to need a good BG. if you're going to want to do anything in the postseason this year. Yeah, what's this initial thing?
Starting point is 00:07:59 Why are you calling it? When did that stuff? Well, once you say somebody's name once, I mean, you can kind of just shorten it after that, right? Are people calling BG? Is that like? Oh, I do. It was BG time. It was BG time.
Starting point is 00:08:13 You were cheering for him. You gave a, his and one at the end kind of put the game away. Legacy game for BG. The legacy game. Wow. I don't know about the legacy. You guys don't think of the legacy game? I don't know.
Starting point is 00:08:26 Well, I mean, I guess it depends on what his legacy is. But it is, it was his best game. I liked everybody was expecting, what I'm a cord there? Everybody was expecting him to have a technical, and with one second on the clock he delivered. It's like he knew everybody out there wanted it. Well, it continues the stat of all we're undefeated. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:08:45 When we do it. Oh, way, 24 points again, 7 of 11 shooting. We take for granted, Drew. how good he's been in SEC play. I mean, there was some disappointment in the early year for O.A. But since SEC play has started, he has been unbelievable. And here lately, it's not just that he's scoring a lot of points. He's been incredibly efficient.
Starting point is 00:09:06 What was tonight? Did you say it? Something like 7-Eleven. Yeah, 7-Eleven. I think he was similar to that in the last game. So he's really, really, really get it done. And, I mean, we all had our concerns early. Since they've turned to SEC, he's been the guy we expected we thought we'd see all season.
Starting point is 00:09:21 Did you guys see his new braids? He came out with the new braids. Did you all think about that? I didn't focus on that. It's a new look. Yeah, it's a new look for him. J-Low Lowe has a new haircut. J-Loh does have a new haircut.
Starting point is 00:09:34 He doesn't see that. Yeah, he's, thank you, though, for the braid update. Well, he had to step up. You don't get that on this show when Mario's not here. I don't usually do a braid breakdown, but when Mario's here, when Mario's here, we get a braid breakdown. Well, here's here. Well, here's the basketball breakdown. He had to step up.
Starting point is 00:09:51 I mean, everybody's injured. I mean, if you're going to be the SEC preseason player of the year, you've got to start acting like it and playing like it. Why are you angry? We won't. No, I'm not angry at all. He's passionate. I'm passionate.
Starting point is 00:10:04 But, I mean, he's playing great. I'm happy that he finally stepped up. He showed some fight on the court in a couple of games past, and now he's continuing that momentum. Well, I think he's been great. Averdine scared everybody. Yeah, Billy mentioned injuries. for a moment.
Starting point is 00:10:22 You know, something else in Aberdeen, a quick trip to the locker room. Luckily, that's just a scare. But there for a moment, just like, oh, God, one thing after another with this team. Yeah, one person writes, you all sounds stoned on this first game show. I promise you were not.
Starting point is 00:10:35 We're not. Look, can we just be honest? It's after midnight on these goes. We've had a giddy day. I mean, literally, we met and interviewed Christian McCaffrey, Terrell Davis, Terrell Davis, busing with the boys. Sean Alexander.
Starting point is 00:10:53 Sean Alexander, who may be the nicest person in the world. And tells a fun story about Kentucky football. Yes, tells a great, saw Stevie Johnson. He wrapped his famous 2007 pregame against Louisville rap to us,
Starting point is 00:11:10 and Drew finished it for it. Drew did it with him. That was amazing. Pension myself. And Media Row was the coolest thing I've ever seen. And like people knew. who we were. I don't know how. We met Kelvin Jimstone. Yeah. And Dan Dockage, both. Actually,
Starting point is 00:11:30 Dan Dockich was nice. Dan Dockich had a nice thing to say to me about Larry. I'm going to have to lay off on him. He did say to me, even though we don't always like each other, and I was like, you know what, though, you were very nice. And that's all. And then we saw, I mean, we saw everybody. Yeah. And we did that. And we went to the ESPN thing, which was celebrating Rich Eisen and Chris Berman, and Mario had one of the great moments where he goes, they gave out free
Starting point is 00:11:58 Rich Eisen thermases. And Mario goes, I'm going to put this on my desk. And I go, oh, you like Rich Eisen? And he goes, I don't know who he is. But you're excited. Why would you put it on your desk? It would be a good. But you were at,
Starting point is 00:12:14 Mario was at the Rich Eisen and Chris Bourbon VIP party and didn't know who either one of them was. I'm just enjoying the moment. He respects him. He doesn't know who they are. Still respects the name, though. That's Mario.
Starting point is 00:12:27 It's that innocence and how, like, that's what I love about it. You're the most innocent person when it comes to this stuff. This is a trait that everyone listening should have. Mario treats every single person the same. Would you agree with that? He is equally as nice to everybody. You can just be a stranger or, and the good thing is,
Starting point is 00:12:49 because Mario doesn't know anyone. he's the same nice to everyone so burke magnus who is the president of ESPN not just ESPN the whole daggone company all right he comes up and goes Matt Jones I'm a fan I got a heart flutter I was like the president of ESPN knows who I am Mario shakes his hand and literally it would be the same way he shakes a hand that somebody at KS bar he's like yo guy yo man what's up. He looks at the president of ESVN. He's like, yo,
Starting point is 00:13:25 do you see always brain? Brody had six tonight. Brody? Brody had six. But that's why you're so nice. Like, you just, you talk to the president of ESPN just like he's anybody.
Starting point is 00:13:40 And I think that that's very charming. Well, I didn't know he was the president until after he left, so now I know. That's what we mean. It's like when he asked Larry Fitzgerald, to take a picture. Yeah, you asked Larry Fitzgerald to take our picture. Like, him be the cameraman.
Starting point is 00:13:56 You didn't ask him for a picture. You asked him if he would take our picture. That's hilarious. So anyway, this is just going to be how the show is. We've also been up since five, and I feel like we've been doing radio all day. We've done a lot of radio. So 859-280-2287. Call us, talk about the game.
Starting point is 00:14:14 Expect more of this. This is going to be what it is. and I was just on another show just a few minutes right before this one so it's been very exciting we'll take a break and we'll be right back
Starting point is 00:14:28 take your calls it's a local Toyota dealers KSR post game show welcome back it is the local Toyota dealers KSR post game show 859-280 2287 text machine is 772-7474 there's nobody believing it's true
Starting point is 00:14:47 that we have not been in the gun I promise you we've not been in the gummies. We've just you have any. I would like one, but I've not have any. I promise you. I have not. We had Korean chicken. Yeah, haven't even had a beer. That was nice. But I think it's just the excitement of the day. The lack of sleep
Starting point is 00:15:02 and the long day, but a day that's been full of fun has turned into a little bit of slap happy here. Yes, that's right. Billy is a little stressed. I can't wait for the stories that we're going to tell tomorrow, like on KSR and the pre-show. I mean, somebody just random stuff happened. Beyond just the celebrities, we had
Starting point is 00:15:18 We had a run in with ice, but it's not what you think. Whatever you think when I say that, that's not the kind of run in we had with ice. No one could even guess the kind of we had with ice. I'd like for people to guess and see if there's any way they could come to what are, and it was positive interaction. Yeah. But that's like we'll wait for tomorrow. Yeah. They did things I didn't even know they did.
Starting point is 00:15:45 They wanted us to be part of marketing? Yeah, it was, it was an unbelievable thing. One person says, how does Mario not know Chris Berman? He's been a legend on ESPN for years. He's the author of many books, maybe the most famous, I don't think he's an author, and maybe the most famous sports broadcaster of all time. How do you not know?
Starting point is 00:16:08 I know a few ESPN personalities, but not him. Like who? Stephen A. Smith. You got excited when you saw him today. I did. I did. You said his name in the car. No, no, no, no, no help.
Starting point is 00:16:19 Scott Van Pelt. Good. Okay. There you go. Come on now. Come on now. Can you get one more? I can't get five.
Starting point is 00:16:29 No, no, but you can't pick, like, former athletes. I need ESPN personnel. Trying to see if the TV can help me out right now. You really can't. ESPN personalities. Former UK guy. Michael Eves. There you go.
Starting point is 00:16:42 Well, well done. There you go. Yeah. It's where it gets hard. Let's see. You can go throughout history. So you got Stephen? Oh, yeah, Stuart, Stuart Scott.
Starting point is 00:16:52 Yes, me got right? Okay. Any white people? Yeah, I got some. Craig, no. I don't know if you used to me in. Craig who? I was going to say Craig Skitt.
Starting point is 00:17:02 No. Craig Skinner is. No, no, no, no. No, I'm thinking Craig Sager. Is that his name? No, it's T&T. It's T&T. Okay.
Starting point is 00:17:10 All right. Okay. And it mixed up. Can I do announcers, too? Like ESPN announcers, or is just? No. Gotta be a personality. Okay.
Starting point is 00:17:16 Oh, I got one. He used to work for, he doesn't work there anymore. Max. Next what? I don't know. Don't say Duffy. Not Duffy. Max, you know, he's with Stephen A.
Starting point is 00:17:29 He was Smith. He was his co-host. I know, I know his name. Do you? Is it? Oh, well, I've seen another one today. Screw Max. Let's say, uh, Mad Dog.
Starting point is 00:17:38 Mad Dog. There you go. What's his name, though? I don't know what was the real name. I saw him today. You're excited to see a mad dog. 859, 280, 27. There it is.
Starting point is 00:17:50 I'll give you a pet, although he's a former athlete. I'll still, I'll still give you his. You were on the Pat McAfee show today, by the way, Mario. I was. You and Drew. Pat and I waved to each other. When he was interviewing CM Punk, you two walk behind me. Oh, wow.
Starting point is 00:18:03 All right, who's next? Zane. All right, go ahead, Zane. Hey, sounds like y'all, I have a good time in San Francisco. We're on the way back home from the game. going to Bardstown, and y'all had said y'all hadn't heard the saw the first half, sorry. I just want to say Colin Chandler had a really good first half. And I need y'all.
Starting point is 00:18:28 Did he get two or three threes in a row there at the end of the half? Because we were following the score, and it was like down to three, and then all of a sudden it was nine. So he had at least two, right? I'm pretty sure, yes. And can I have y'all's help on something real quick? All right, so I'm in the car with my dad right now, since it was a late game, I'm trying to convince them to let me sleep in a little bit and skip school.
Starting point is 00:18:51 Can you help me out with that real quick? Have you, right, here's my question, though. Have you been in school, like, the last 10 days? Well, we've had a lot of NTI and snow days, really, so, I don't know. So the answer is you haven't been in school, right? Well, we were there, too, for the past two days. All right, past two days. I would say, Dad, since he's staying up and he's having fun and we won the game and it's Super Bowl week, let him go in half day, right?
Starting point is 00:19:25 Still counts as a full attendance, sleep late, but then I'm going to have to balance it by saying, Zane, you have to go to the second half of the day. Okay, thank you. I appreciate that. Appreciate it. There we go. I feel like that's a fair. Yeah, me in the middle. Can't complain about getting to sleep in.
Starting point is 00:19:41 Did Gonzaga lose to Portland? one? It looks like Gonzaga lost to Portland. That's a huge upset. Portland plays in a high school gym. I didn't know that was. No, Mario, that was a high school game. That was not Gonzaga.
Starting point is 00:19:57 You thought that was Gonzaga what they just showed on Sports Center? It was like grainy footage. That was grainy footage from like a high school in Wyoming. That was not Gonzaga. It was close. Gonzaga did. It ended up losing the Portland. Let's not play Portland.
Starting point is 00:20:12 My goodness. Remember you were supposed to take a Greyhound bus to see Kentucky play port. I was excited, but the amount of time it would take to get to Portland, it was like 18 days one way. It's way too many stops. One person says, Matt, they sang your O-A song in the arena for at least a couple minutes. That is, that makes me they did the O-A, away, away, away. I appreciate that. I wish they had caught on more during his career, Billy.
Starting point is 00:20:34 Yeah, well, it's not over, so maybe there's still time for the fan base to fully embrace it. I liked it. He continues to play well against Elk, O'Col. Oklahoma. That's three games against Oklahoma where he's been excellent. One game of the former school? Yeah. Oh, there's no doubt he and Garrison, there's an extra level of motivation that they hit. And, you know, I don't know they're on schedule on the regular season. Maybe we'll get them in Nashville. Get another ride with that group. Tennessee, Saturday night, feeling good about it? I do. You know, already having one in the bank makes you feel a little
Starting point is 00:21:08 better but I really the vandy thing's just so weird to me I guess I'm just going to say you know the weather was bad and got bad early and what's seven of eight that's what I'm saying if you can just ignore the 25 point loss in Nashville they have really found something and playing really well and making winning plays in the end to finish the job so yeah I am feeling good going into saturday people are extending names wondering if Mario knows who these folks are he's not going to know any of these but do you know who Mike greenberg is yes yes he's a basketball announcer That's Seth Greenberg. Is he Seth Greenie?
Starting point is 00:21:44 You don't know Greenie? I know Greenie. We interviewed his former radio co-host today on the podcast. You took pictures of him. You took pictures of him, and we talked about. They hosted the show Mike and Mike. Oh. Is this a...
Starting point is 00:21:59 Do you remember the name of the person that we interviewed today? Y'all interviewed a lot of people today. But you did? You got his first name. Mike Mike no it's not ringing Golick Mike Golick okay yeah I didn't know him before y'all interviewed that's I don't yeah there you go who's next Dave in Louisville go ahead Dave all right no debt go ahead
Starting point is 00:22:32 Dave oh how y'all doing anytime Dave go ahead I'm I think I'm here you are here yes all right can you hear me call. I can't. I feel like Dave doesn't know how to work. And I'm not going to be able to do that. I'm not going to be able to fix that. It's a great day. We can't end with stuff like that. Yeah. All right. Go ahead. Who's next? Chase, go ahead, Chase. Hey, guys. Hey, Chase. How are you?
Starting point is 00:23:08 I'm just good. It's been such a great week and a half of basketball here. Also, last night, my sister hit a gate. winning shot in the district game as well in overtime. Why do we have to do the rest of the year? Why can't we just put Oklahoma on the jersey of the other team to get tired of the way? It's not a bad idea. Congrats to your sister on hitting the game winning shot, by the way, Chase.
Starting point is 00:23:40 Why do you think, why do you think, I mean, I appreciate the call. First of it, part of the reason they play so much better is Oklahoma's not good. so that helps. But why else do you think they've been, it can't be a coincidence at O.A and Garrison, two guys with ties to the state. Always been good all year, but Garrison especially, it has to be something about that uniform.
Starting point is 00:24:00 Yeah, O'A last year he had his old teammates and his old roommate over there. I think most of those guys have gone on, so I don't know if it's still the same for him. But Garrison, he grew up in Oklahoma, and I don't know if maybe turning that school down. Maybe he gets hatred from their fans. I don't know, but it is personal with him.
Starting point is 00:24:17 him in that school. We even knew going into that game because he also, when he was Oklahoma State before transferring here, he lost on, I think, at least one, maybe two buzzer beaters, two Oklahoma. So we even had this animosity with them before he even got to Lexington. And we're just seeing it play out every time he plays him in a Kentucky uniform. One person writes, Matt, why do you think we're shooting the ball so much better from three, 46 percent tonight, and they've been better in most of these games? I think a big part of it, Billy is shot selection. And then the biggest part is Colin Chandler Because you went from a guy who wouldn't shoot them
Starting point is 00:24:52 Well, he wasn't making them earlier in the year Then he wouldn't shoot them And now you're adding a guy who's pretty much buckets When he's open and he's taking more He hit four tonight I think that's really it And then I think better shot selection from Oway in Aberdeen Who are taking threes
Starting point is 00:25:09 But they're taking better ones so they're making Yeah quality over quantity here I mean they only made like six in the game versus our Arkansas, right? So, you know, that 35-30 mark that Pope has talked about so much, it's just not going to happen with this team. But if they can get good shots like that, then they can be effective. And Yelovich. I mean, Yelovich is, he hit a couple tonight as well. I mean, he's a really good shooter. So when he takes them, you know, I think that helps a lot, too. Who's next? J-Dub. Go ahead, J-Dubb.
Starting point is 00:25:41 Hey, Matt. How are you doing, man? We're obviously doing well. We're having a good time. Yes, sir. I was agreeing with. you about Yellovich. Yellovich is a great stretch for it. He works right into Mark Pope's offense and when he spread the floor the way that they do, you've got to have a stretch forward just like him. If there's one thing that is 100% clear to me after this season, Mark Pope should never again recruit a four that can't shoot threes. I mean, I think you're exactly right, even if Yellowidge doesn't shoot, the threat of that is massive for this team.
Starting point is 00:26:23 Right. And Brandon Garrison, oh, my, that's a huge game he had. I did not see that coming. I thought O-Wa was going to be the MVP. There's no doubt that it's Brandon Garrison and the double-double. Yeah. No, I agree. I appreciate the call. They may just not want to put Garrison on live radio. That may be the worry. But, you know, you never know which big is going to play well. I mean, the fewest minutes for any of the bigs tonight was Moreno. Only had 11 minutes. All the other bigs played more. That's every game.
Starting point is 00:26:54 It's somebody different. Yeah, I believe it was Yellowfinch's most minutes of SEC play. They didn't get quite to double figures, but hit a couple threes. Here lately has been starting, but then starting been getting many minutes as the game's gone on. But I'm glad he got a full run tonight. Also note, only six turnovers. That's a big deal as well. One person writes, Matt, if you guys seen Waymo's since you've been out there?
Starting point is 00:27:14 A lot. Everywhere. Everywhere. The future is here, at least in San Francisco. We saw a couple when we were in Phoenix last year, but it was like a couple. They are everywhere here, and it freaks me out, and I don't like it. And I saw them racing each other. It's weird.
Starting point is 00:27:35 It's freaky, man. But they really are everywhere. They scare you, don't it? Yeah, they scare me. There's no one in the car. There's no one in the car. There are people in the backseat. Oh, yeah, handle in the car.
Starting point is 00:27:44 Sometimes they are just driving by with, No one in there. You pick somebody up. Yeah. It's freaky. It is, it is for. What is Kentucky? They were kind of.
Starting point is 00:27:53 Yeah, not only that, but then we walked past a long line of people trying to get into some AI conference. I mean, it's just, you know. I didn't even think about that. That billy and now there's a vending machine here that's basically like a Walgreens, but into a green machine. That's the thing about San Francisco. There's stuff here that we'll see it like five years at a normal parts of life. There was people like waiting a block down the street to get into a building. and I went and asked two groups of people what they were going to
Starting point is 00:28:18 and they were just like, the future, man. The future. It's AI, but on steriles. And I was like, I don't want to go in there. They were like, but it's the future. But I do wonder if it is kind of the future here. Like with the cars and the AI, it does feel like you've almost walked five years into the future here.
Starting point is 00:28:39 So are we going to get in one of these Waymos before? I feel like we should. I think we need to. I'm definitely Waymoing at some point. We might as well. I don't know. I may let you all do that. I don't like it.
Starting point is 00:28:48 We got to at least try it. These hills are kicking my ass right now, so if we could get in a Waymo. Yeah. All right, we'll take one Waymo. Who's next? Cadence. Go ahead, Cadence. Hey, guys.
Starting point is 00:29:03 I got three things for you tonight. Number one, the Brandon Garrison performance was incredible. It was almost like when Bamatabio in 2017 went to Missouri and had 22 points in 50. and had 22 points and 15 rebounds. Wow, good memory. All right. What's your second one? Second point.
Starting point is 00:29:24 Colin Chandler, he is not getting enough props for that performance tonight. He came in the game tonight. He had a step back three that was probably 32 feet from the rim. I was an absolute beautiful shot. Beautiful. He had 18. Yeah, well, his threes at the end of the first half were huge. I mean, that was a three-point game.
Starting point is 00:29:45 and we went into halftime with an 11-point lead, and he's the big reason why. And then what's your last point? That's when I was yelling bang. Yeah, you were yelling bang in front of the president of UAS. Bang! Screaming bang in front of Bagnus. All right, who's the third one?
Starting point is 00:30:03 The last one, Denzel Aberdeen, he came out in the first half, first couple minutes of the game, and he had two huge threes, and also Yelty. Yelty had two humongous three. also in the beginning of the game. They both had six of our first 13, or they had 12 of our first 13 points and then it had a humongous impact on our first half.
Starting point is 00:30:24 Great, kept him from getting that early deficit that we've had in a lot of games. I appreciate the call. Aberdeen has been an unsung, significantly better player. I mean, he was hard to watch a lot of the first half of the year, and then he, you know, without Jalen Lowe, he's had to play point guard.
Starting point is 00:30:42 I think that's actually oddly helped him take fewer bad shots because he's having to actually run the team and I think he's done really well. Yeah, he would, I mean, it was a lot of the offense when they would get stagnant and the ball would stick. They'd just play one-on-one and it wasn't working with him. But now that the offense is flown a little better, he's getting there and he's finishing at the rim. He's also shooting a lot better from three. I think you might have had one air ball a week or two ago, but the three-point shooting that was bouncing off the side of the backboard, landing in the crowd and all that from the beginning of the year. That's in the past, and he's shooting at a good clip in SEC play.
Starting point is 00:31:18 By the way, Mark Pope did his post-game press conference in a toboggan. Yeah, I was just zoomed in on that. Is it a Brown Kentucky win? It sort of looks like, I have to tell you, this picture of Mark Pope and is that Jason Hart? It looks like Mark Pope. First of all, it looks like Eminem and Shigar Yalene. Why did he wear it, though? It's like cocked to the side. Doesn't it look a little bit like Eminem and Shigari. It looks. I see it. You see it, Billy? Yeah, I see it.
Starting point is 00:31:52 I'm going to twit that out. He can't leave. I think he left early, right? He'll pick up his daughter, her, I guess, her 15-month mission and she was landing. Oh, that's awesome. That's an excuse that.
Starting point is 00:32:02 I totally get why he lived, but why did he need to wear the toboggan here in the press conference. That's a very cool that he wanted to be there to pick it up at the airport. All right. We'll take a break. 859-2-80-22-87.
Starting point is 00:32:14 This is the local Toyota dealers, KSR post-game show. Local tour de dealers, KSR postgame show, 859, 280, 2287. Text Machine, 772, 774-5254. One person's right, Matt, no offense, I enjoy your post-game shows when you're by yourself, but I do think it's fun hearing you guys have fun as a group. Yeah, that's why we decided to do it. Hopefully we'll do it Saturday night, although part of it's going to be about timing
Starting point is 00:32:46 because we've got something that evening light. but hopefully we will and hopefully be celebrating a win against Tennessee. Definitely. It's fun celebrating this one. And I like the road shows like this, especially, you know, it's random stuff like just being in Billy's hotel room here talking about a game. And one person writes, Matt, Waymo and AI may seem innovative, but it's nothing compared to Billy's reversible quarter zips and digital business cards.
Starting point is 00:33:09 Well, it's time for the Johnny Rocker, personal injury attorney, moneymaker of the game. Injured, get small-town compassion with big city results when you call the rocker at 270, 321, 4-429. While it was a BG legacy game tonight, according to Mario, our moneymaker of the game is Tom Hart. He was phenomenal tonight. I want to thank him for the references. But not only that, I mean, he worked in,
Starting point is 00:33:33 like you don't believe everything you see on Facebook. He was hitting a lot of the references. So Tom Hart is our Johnny Rocker, Moneymaker of the game. They haven't put our cover zero up yet. Should email. But check on that, too. Yeah. All right.
Starting point is 00:33:48 Because we have, we have, that needs to come. We're plugged into there, right? They're recording, right? I hope so. Yeah, it doesn't look like it's up yet. 859-280-2287. Who's up next? Eddie, go ahead, Eddie.
Starting point is 00:34:04 Hey, gentlemen, Eddie in California. Welcome to the Hotel, California. When I listen to you guys on the post-game shows, you always talk about being one in the morning. I'm thinking, it's only 10. It's only 10. So now you know how I feel. It feels good.
Starting point is 00:34:19 Well, thank you. I do have a question. I've been hearing a lot about seven seeds, eight seeds in the bracket. I got a chance to go to the Western Tennessee game at Rupp. Any chance based on what you're hearing about seven, eight seats that Kentucky could be out in a Western regional during March Madness? I think when you get to that level of seed, it's actually very random where you end up. It depends on the process of just, you know, what other teams are your seed line. So it would be a complete guess.
Starting point is 00:34:57 You know, you can kind of sometimes predict where they're going to end up when there are one, a two, or even a three. But when you get down to a six, seven, eight, nine, it's just a complete guess. So like there are eight different locations for the NCAA tournament first round. And honestly, Kentucky could be at any of the eight. and it'll probably be just sort of luck of the committee as to which one we get. Did Billy, did the Strutton with Sutton? Yeah, I appreciate the call. Because you're not, yeah.
Starting point is 00:35:31 I got the hat. I did not bring it with me, but you better believe the next remote that we go to. I'll have that. You should. You got a with Sutton hat. You did get it? I did get it. And I also went and got that jacket from me.
Starting point is 00:35:43 So I'm vintage now. Yeah, I saw you in that picture. Yeah, when you're, like I said, when you're a war, one, two, or three, you do kind of control where you play. But after that, so it could be anywhere, and we don't know where it'll be. I saw before this game tonight, Lenardi said, if Kentucky wins in a blowout, they'll move up another spot. Do we consider that a blowout?
Starting point is 00:36:06 Well, he had us as a seven. Most of the other bracketologies have had us as a six, which is kind of what I think we are right now. But I will say, I mean, we've got a lot of hard games ahead. So I think if you made me predict now the seed we're going to end up with, I would say seven. But I think if the tournament started today, Billy, we'd probably be a six. That sounds about right. Do you think they can go on a run?
Starting point is 00:36:29 I mean, do you think they're capable? I mean in the tournament? Yeah. I got to see the draw. This is a team that I think is very matchup dependent. I mean, I think there are teams out there that are better than us that in a certain scenario we can beat. And there are teams that we will just struggle. I mean, we will struggle against a team like Alabama, even though Alabama is not great this year.
Starting point is 00:36:49 I don't know, Drew, if we could beat in Alabama this year. Yeah, some of these high-scoring teams we've already seen, it's hard to keep up. But as we said, when in- We scored 94? I know, and win in 7-out-8, that's no small task. I mean, if we can forget the Gonzaga's and some of those games that were just so frustrating, you just pay attention to the last eight. I know one of them was a 25-point loss, but those wins, those are big-time wins, and a lot of guys, I think, just turned a corner personally,
Starting point is 00:37:13 and it's made the overall team better. Seven and three in conference. You got Tennessee on Saturday. Then you get a week off. Then you go to Florida, which is probably the hardest remaining game left on the schedule. Who's up next? Gavin?
Starting point is 00:37:35 Doug, go ahead, Doug. Hey, guys. Doug. I'll be the first contest. Yeah, I'm here. I'll be the first contest. Was it a ice-sized baby? Did you run into a vanilla out there?
Starting point is 00:37:50 Yeah, go ahead. I can't, go ahead. I'm sorry, can you not hear me? I can hear you. Go ahead. Yeah, yeah. So do you guys run into a little vanilla ice out there? Was there a little ice-ice baby?
Starting point is 00:38:04 I'll be the first one in the contest. It was not vanilla ice. This was actual ice. Like, not the frozen liquid, the agency. Oh. Quick two other things. Chandler has started to remind me of Reeves' first year where Califying that Reeves play
Starting point is 00:38:28 where everything is just going in and it looks so consistent and then the best the best mention Well let me just say on that one Let me just say on that one slow down Slow down just a little bit No, no, Reeves
Starting point is 00:38:41 His first year Reeves His high scoring scores in the name. Collins been very good but even even Reeves his first year had some games where he went off so I wouldn't put him quite in that in that yet but I'll tell you what if he comes back next year I think you could have him be
Starting point is 00:39:05 something like that yeah the ramp up is what I'm talking about and my final point real quick is the best Tom Hart cameo tonight was the Rosebud's mission about when I opened where I have done multiple shots with one Drew Franklin back in our college days.
Starting point is 00:39:27 Appreciate it. Did you do a lot of Rosebud shots? Oh, yeah. Big Rosebuds fan. I didn't know Tom Hart had worked that in either. Tom had a night. Tom was on one tonight. The legacy night.
Starting point is 00:39:37 He was on one. He told me. He did, and he also called his shot. He texted me. He texted me like yesterday and said it's going to be an epic. It's going to be an epic game. And part of what I love is that he listened to this morning show. Like, I mean, a lot of those references that were from this morning.
Starting point is 00:39:55 Yeah, he's all. awesome. Billy R. You serious. What made you decide, by the way, Billy, to reverse the reporters, because you wore the blue all day. And then when we went to the ESPN VIP function, you flipped and went to the gray. Well, it was really like, you know, business was over at that point. The blue was for Radio Row, and then it was feedback. So gray is a relaxing color. Well, regardless, we just had to flip, you know, it was just kind of a different mood for the the rest of the afternoon. I thought it was going to be like a day thing.
Starting point is 00:40:28 Like tomorrow would be gray. So you're flipping. You only have three. Well, I only got. We still have four more days. Well, I got more than quarter zips. Oh, what else do you have? I got a vest.
Starting point is 00:40:40 You're not ready for that. Don't wear that, please. You're not ready for the vest. You have a vest? I got a vest. What kind of a vest? Is it only a vest? Yeah,
Starting point is 00:40:51 correct. No, I was kidding. Well, yeah, but I have like other, like, I have like a button down I'd wear with it. Where do you plan on wearing that? I'm not sure. On the flight back. It's to chilies.
Starting point is 00:41:08 It acts like you've never seen a vest before. Are you nervous? Is that for the Shack party? It could be. I mean, Friday night, we're going to have to wear something. We're going to be out of quarter zips by then. I hope you're not planning on the corner of the gym. To wear.
Starting point is 00:41:22 To Shack's party. No, we got the all-black look on that. Saturday. And Mario said he's going to wear sunglasses to the party. I'm bringing out the Shades. It's a level of cool.
Starting point is 00:41:32 I can't hang with. Yeah. We're going to look funny when we all walk in. We're going to look like we work there. I'm ordering a dresser. We're going to look like we're all.
Starting point is 00:41:45 You're wearing a few. You want to see the best? Yes. Please. We'll take a break. When we come back, Billy will break out his best. No photos.
Starting point is 00:41:55 Mario. This is the local Torridor dealers. KSR post game. Welcome back. It is the local tour of dealers KSR game show. Anthony Davis got traded
Starting point is 00:42:12 day, Drew. He will be on the Washington Wizards now. I guess we've had a lot of Kentucky connections through Washington. Just add him to the list. Maybe get a little Georgia, A more Anthony Davis marketing going. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:42:26 But it does stink because like the wizards are not a real deal. No, and it just feels like we've seen the peak of Anthony Davis. I can't even remember the last time I've seen a wizard's game. Certainly hasn't been since John Wall. It has to be John Wall. I don't think I've seen a Wizards game in years.
Starting point is 00:42:42 Yeah, Michael Jordan back in the day. Michael Jordan. Did you skip the John Wall era? You weren't interested? No, I mean, I moved past it. You brought up John. I brought up Michael. He was before that.
Starting point is 00:42:53 859-280-2287. One person writes, Matt, if the tournament, how big a success would this be if Kentucky made the Sweet 16? It'd be a pretty successful year, I think. I mean, it depends on what your starting point is. You start to what we thought at the beginning of the year, Drew, then it's not successful. If you go with what it looked like after we lost by 40 to Gonzaga, then it might be successful. Yeah, I'm very careful to not lower the bar, but if you do make the Sweet 16 after where they were in December and the injuries,
Starting point is 00:43:27 I can't say that's a good coaching job. I'm still disappointed overall at how it, from the expectations you have and the Ferrari comments, and we truly thought this could be a final four run. So I'm not changing the expectations of what Kentucky should be, but I could also say, given the circumstances, you finish strong. Well, person writes, my husband always falls asleep during the late postgame shows, and it's normally so annoying. But listening to y'all have a good time together has been really enjoyable tonight. Yeah, I know it's different than the other ones, and I appreciate you liking it. Sometimes it's good to be happy.
Starting point is 00:43:56 Oh, 100%. I was wondering how we were going to do the post game when we weren't watching the game. But we watched the second half. We did. And you watched a lot of the first half when you weren't supposed to. You watched a lot of the first half while multiple radio hosts were trying to speak to you. It's like the one time I should have been getting the digital. Yeah, I mean, for somebody who's been so worried, I want you to think about that for a minute.
Starting point is 00:44:19 You were so interested in networking that you were willing to look at your bosses and say you were looking for other jobs earlier. And you spit all of today talking to people, including random people throughout the country that are at radio stations. And then you were in a room full of ESPN executives, and you decided to watch your phone instead of talk to. You're real smart. Well, I was doing my job. I had a post-camp show to host later. But I had already flipped the quarter zip. It's true.
Starting point is 00:44:52 You couldn't just, like, go back to network. You couldn't network because the gray side was. I was a new man at that point. I'm just saying literally. I'm just looking. That room had the four biggest people at ESPN, all of whom were surrounding our table. And you didn't even look up.
Starting point is 00:45:17 I was shouting bang, because Colin Chaler was banging threes before the end of the first half. You know the listeners that, you know, don't miss him in Kentucky. They're very proud of Billy for doing that. There's a lot of people that are pro-billy ignoring the ESPN boss. That's true. Listen, my man was focused after earlier today saying he was looking for a new job, essentially.
Starting point is 00:45:44 When jobs were staring him in the face, bang, college channel. Who's next? All right, Hunter, go ahead. My guess for the ice encounter is that Billy tried to give his digital. business card to them and they wouldn't take it. It's a good guess. That's a really good guess, but that wasn't it. I like that gas, though.
Starting point is 00:46:09 Go ahead. Yeah. So, hey, this is a fun game to watch. A little stressful towards the end, I thought, you know, we're going to find a way to mess it up and lose that game, but great win. My question is, is at what point do we look at this as, like, what happened with the Gonzaga, what happened with Louisville? Like, that's all just like, oh, that's, like, a different team, and this is a different team
Starting point is 00:46:31 now. I say that because last year when we lost Arkansas, it completely shifted how we thought of this season because after that we got blown out by Ole Miss. And then here we win and it kind of feels like that's a turning point. Maybe. I mean, you say skip over Louisville and Gonzaga, but Vandy was just a week ago, right? So, I mean, it wasn't that long ago. I mean, yes, I appreciate the call. Last year, the Arkansas, I don't think our season necessarily changed. a lot last year. Their season certainly changed after they beat us. But we remember, they came into the Rup game last year, one and six, and on like not making. We were, when we played Arkansas, we were five and three in conference. So it wasn't exactly the same desperation.
Starting point is 00:47:23 And pretty convinced we were going to blow them out. Like we had the confidence Arkansas had this year. Cal even said that. The desperation was the was the winner on each season. side. With the current team, I've even through some of these big wins, I still wasn't sold on this team being actually good. At this point, I really believe they've turned a corner. And a lot of it is guys like Chandler finding his confidence, O'way getting back to what he is, and Aberdeen's settling in and finding his. It's no longer, I feel like we're just getting lucky here and there. We pulled off another one. I, I think they're becoming a good team. Now, the resume might be too late to build a seed where you can make a good run, but I feel like
Starting point is 00:48:01 they've turned a corner. I'm a lot more optimistic than I was even a week or two ago. I think a lot of it's going to be, there are a handful of teams I just, I don't think this team can be. And we just need to not draw them in either the first or the second round. That's, to me, the key. A couple of those teams are in the SEC, so we're not going to draw them. But, like, I don't think we could beat Arizona.
Starting point is 00:48:23 I don't know that we could beat Michigan. So let's just not draw them. But you get a three or four seed, Nebraska. or Iowa State or something, then why not? I think we would have a shot. Yeah, I agree with Drew. I think they've definitely turned a corner. I just, for a while, I thought they could not be good without Jaden Quaitens.
Starting point is 00:48:43 I just banked on him, like, bringing this team to the Sweet 16 or Final Four. Well, me, it was Jalen Lowe. I mean, Jaden Quaintence was, but for me, I didn't think they could be good without Jail Lowe. And I will still say, we're going to know a lot more in four games, because we're going to be playing some good teams, and we'll see what, we'll see what it looks like here in in four games who's next todd go ahead todd hey man i i got to say brandon he really surprised me in night i mean he had he's not a marie but he had some bounce passes tonight that were pretty good and i got to give a shout
Starting point is 00:49:27 out to colin off he played a beautiful game I'm going to be real quick, but I love when y'all go out of town and go on trips. I mean, you all are so funny. You make me laugh. And it's, I think you all need to do like a little $10 raffle to have somebody go out of town with you all and put it to a charity or something. But to be honest, I mean, tonight it was very fun for me. I need it. I need laugh and y'all make me have it.
Starting point is 00:50:08 Well, thank you very much, sir. I appreciate it. And thank you for saying that. I appreciate it. You know, we, there are, I love going down the road, you know. And I've enjoyed being with you guys. No offense to Ryan. Well, Ryan enjoys being gone, sort of,
Starting point is 00:50:26 once you get him out of the house. Shannon does not like to go anywhere. You guys, Drew has always embraced it. And it's been nice. You too have embraced it. Mario, you've had fun. You've been with me everywhere. These trips are always funny.
Starting point is 00:50:39 Yeah. And Billy? They've been fun. Way to add. Thank you for, thank you for, thank you for you. That was both. We're too resounding. I can feel the excitement.
Starting point is 00:50:49 Yeah. I've enjoyed it. Yeah, don't get me wrong. I've had a great time. You too. We've only been gone 24 hours, but you still have like four more days. I got plenty of outfits. Who's next?
Starting point is 00:51:01 I'm excited to do some of the stuff. outside of the work also. We haven't done much. Yeah, we've been very busy today. Who's next? Justin, go ahead, Justin. What's up, guys? I got two things for you.
Starting point is 00:51:21 So the first thing I just want to say is I love the Cover Zero podcast. I'm a huge fan. And Drew absolutely did say Kyron Williams. Thank you. The second thing, I got to defend Billy a little bit. Tonight, the BG phenomenon has started. there were multiple occasions where the crowd was chanting BG, one, when he was about to get in a fight, and two, at the very end, because we wanted him to get 20 points.
Starting point is 00:51:53 And I think that's what influenced him to get that last second point. Oh, see, we had the sound down except for a handful of times when we heard Tom, so I did not know that. Well, I don't think Billy knew that either, but he can take credit for – so B.G, I appreciate the call. I guess that's, let's make it a thing. Well, it's BG time. Now, sometimes that can be negative when BG calls his own number, but tonight it was BG time against Oklahoma,
Starting point is 00:52:21 and that was the positive BG time. Yeah, all right. So it sounds like we're having some technical difficulties. That's okay. You know what? It happens sometimes we're on the road, but what we'll do is we'll probably cut it off here so that we can have fewer technical difficulties.
Starting point is 00:52:37 We're going to be back at this in eight hours anyway on the KSR morning show. We'll be right back in this room in just eight hours. Guys, it was fun. Cats get a big win against Oklahoma. At home, 9478. We will see you tomorrow morning. This has been the local Toyota dealers, KSR, postgame show.
