Another podcast from some SNL late-night comedy guy, not quite.
Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and Friends.
Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier.
This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidel
help an a cappella band with their between songs banter.
Where does your group perform?
We do some retirement homes.
Those people are starving for banter.

Last night, a blown call changed a game.

Presented by Capital One, founding partner of I Heart Women's Sports.
Well, that's more like it.
That's the way it's supposed to be.
It's supposed to have a good, feel-good win and a fun post-game show to do.
Ryan Lemon filling in on the big chair for Mr. Matthew Harper-Jones,
and this is the local select Chevy dealers KSR post-game show.
No, it's the local tri-state Toyota dealers,
post-game show.
Yeah. It's late.
There's going to be a lot of slip-ups tonight.
I mean, it's 12.30 in the morning.
For those of you that stuck it out to the end of the game, God bless you.
That's what makes the UK fandom what it is.
When Kentucky plays a game at 9 o'clock and the stands are still packed by the final minutes.
Kentucky, you've got a feel-good, much-needed, bounce-back win.
Throw all the cliches in there you want.
But that's the way.
way it's supposed to be.
That's the defense they're supposed to play.
That's the balance scoring attack we thought they were going to have.
So, you know, I think the two big takeaways, Billy, obviously, are going to be Ugo's 10 blocks
that tied the Rupp Arena record set by David Robinson.
Wow.
Didn't know that.
Now, all you young pups, Billy, I don't know if you're included in this or not,
Don't realize what a massive man David Robinson was.
And they came in here, Navy, when he played for Navy.
And I believe he may still hold the scoring record by an opponent at Rupbring.
I don't know that.
One dude from Texas A&M may have broken that a couple years ago.
But David Robinson had something like, I don't know what it was.
I should have looked it up, 45 points, 20-something rebounds, and 10 block shots in one game.
David Robinson one of the best NBA players ever.
David Robinson, you know, on the dream team.
And Hugo just tied that record.
All the great shot blockers, everybody's played.
Hugo Onyeno has now tied David Robinson for most blocks ever at Rupp Arena.
And I thought he was going to break Norland's Noelle's school record there for a while.
He had seven blocks in the first half.
Seven!
He ended up with ten.
I loved it when I heard the clip you guys played Billy where he was.
talking after the game.
He said, I told the coaches before the game I was going to get 10.
He predicted it.
He called his shot.
Yeah, not only that, he came on the radio and told that to Jack early on in the year.
So to see him reach his goal was fulfilling.
There's no doubt.
Now, I think it was Jack and said it.
You know, he's not a guy you're going to call plays for.
He's not a guy you're going to expect to go out there and light up the scorebook on the offensive end.
But he's such a valuable weapon on the defensive end, just been able to clean up a lot of the messes that we were.
having on defense because it's no coincidence it's one of the best defensive games of the year
first half no doubt what they hold them to 29 points in the first half correct
63 for the game oh miss a really good three-point shooting team shot five of 22 that's not my
accident that's the defense with ugo back there and
I also think the return of DJ Wagner, just his energy and his moxie and just his swagger that he brings out to the floor on the defensive end especially.
You know, he brings it, man, and I think the other guy just kind of feed off that.
So first time Kentucky has their full roster all season and then Trey Mitchell leaves the game with the shoulder injury.
So, I mean, if this season just hasn't been weird.
enough we've got to add that to it so so billy what was your big takeaway then for the game
the night um i'll go about i'll go back to jack given's again he said that was the best half
of defense he's seen all year from kentucky in the first half yeah i agree with him i agree with
they they were flat out getting it i think like i said it all starts with dj out front and ugo
in the back i mean the first half offense was one of their sloppiest they've had all year just
lot of turnovers.
You know, they only average nine
turnovers a game. I think they had 15
the night. It's the most they've had all season in a game.
Yeah, Dillian three and four minutes.
Yeah. I was glad
Cal kind of let him try to play through
that a little bit. I didn't want to yank him after that first
mistake. But
I agree with what Jack said also.
And if they play that kind of defense,
man, the way they can score,
I mean, just think if they played like that
against Gonzaga, against Tennessee.
I mean, UNC Wilton.
I mean, things could look a lot, lot different with a better defensive effort.
So I don't know.
I feel good about it.
I mean, they've got seven games left.
Four of them are on the road at Auburn, at LSU, at Mississippi State, at Tennessee.
That was tough.
And the home games are Arkansas, Vanderbilt, and Alabama.
So that's the remainder.
to the schedule.
Seven and four now in the SEC.
A lot better than if they dropped it and fell to six and five with four straight
losses and so on.
But just a much needed, feel good.
Thank you, Dwin, for the Kentucky Wilde Cat tonight over Ole Miss.
We want to hear from you.
859-280-2-287.
859-2-8-8-8-8-8-8-8-8-8.
So, Billy, we got some folks.
We can go ahead take a call right now, Billy, if we got one.
In the first segment?
Hey, it's 12-13.
in the morning.
These people want to get on and go to bed.
Okay.
Let's get one.
All right.
Why don't we start with Ryan Lemons chauffeur?
Well, this could be one of many, many, many people.
Who is this?
I think you know who it is.
It's your show for tomorrow.
It is a yoga boy.
Yoga boy is my chauffeur tomorrow, Billy.
For my Valentine's Day date.
Yes.
This is Yoga Girl's brother, yoga boy.
Oh, okay.
All right.
I know you've got top secret plans, but at some point you might not want to let your chauffeur in on what the plans are so he can get you there.
That's true.
I did present it to her tonight as we were watching the game, so she is aware now of the plans.
Oh, okay.
So no longer top secret.
No top secret.
So we'll we'll get with, we'll plan it out with our Uber driver chauffeur tomorrow.
Excellent, excellent.
But about the game, that was fun.
I like that.
It was nice to have a relaxing, fun, entertaining game.
Dude, it was.
I wasn't tense.
I didn't get nervous.
It just felt good to sit back and just watch my team roll.
So I agree with you.
And they were having fun, too, which was nice.
Yeah, the one shot they took of Justin Edwards when he was smiling,
like he had just stole candy out of the candy jar.
I mean, that's great to see the smiles, but especially from that kid, right?
Yeah.
Uh, that and I love the look on Hugo's face on that one block where he never jumped.
He just reached up and grabbed the ball from that guy.
And he just was, it was a great luck.
Well, yoga boy, uh, you need to get to bed.
You got a late night tomorrow night.
So we'll, uh, we'll, uh, we expect you at your top, at your top of your game.
Thanks for taking my call.
All right.
That is, uh, Billy, that's yoga boy.
Oh, yeah.
Well, I'm glad you're just, you're, uh,
You got a driver for tomorrow night.
You're being responsible.
Absolutely, yes.
Kind of make it more of a special evening for yoga girl.
So, all right, who's next?
Let's take another one.
All right.
One more, then we'll take this break.
Take a break, okay.
We'll let Lenny Bluebeard in.
How about that?
Lenny Bluebeard.
Did you go to KS Bar and Grill tonight, Lenny?
No, I didn't make it, man.
I was on, you know, I had to stay in town for this game.
But I'm going to make a next, next game with a Saturday for sure, man.
And how about those undefeated cats with the full roster, man?
Undefeated with the full roster and then Trey Mitchell goes off and doesn't come back.
I know, right?
It was bound to happen, right?
Come on, give us a break.
But I like it, man, and I just want to comment on what?
Then Cal said this team's built for March.
You know what wins in March, man, guard play every year.
And what do we have, four or five of us go for a double digit tonight?
Yep.
was it, I think it was, Edward, Reeves, Reed, and Dilley.
Yep.
I'm telling you, man, you know, rapper Lil Wayne said,
blooming don't come without rain.
We've been getting some rain here early February, but I'm telling you that these guys bloom
and see what they turn into by March.
At a boy, Lenny.
I gave up.
I'm not going to give up.
And I want everybody to just.
let what's going to happen happen.
And I like our chances, man.
You see what happened tonight.
You tell me, anybody wants to match up with that squad tonight in the tournament.
You got to be good at me, right?
Amen.
All right.
Lenny, we appreciate it, man.
I hope to see it to get tomorrow then this weekend.
Yes, sir.
Always, man.
Go blue.
All right, Lenny.
Quoting, Blooming comes with after the rain.
Something like that.
You got to have some rain to be able to bloom.
Yeah, blooming before the rain.
I liked when Cal tried to quote a little rain earlier this year.
Was it this year he did that?
Well, there we go.
We have found our motto now for the rest of the season.
I'm quoting little Wayne.
Blumen after the rain.
Real G's moving silence like lasagna.
All right.
Well, take our first break.
We'll have some fun tonight.
Everybody wants to call in, talk, be happy.
Keep Billy awake.
He's had a long day.
And Billy, Billy informs me there's two more nine o'clock games.
Now, these last seven, two of them are nine o'clock starts.
Oh, yeah, the midweeks at LSU and then versus Vanderbilt.
Well, what a fun night that'll be after the Vanderbilt game.
So we'll take our break.
Come back.
859-280-2287.
This is the local Toyota dealers, KSR post-game show.
Welcome back to local Toyota dealers, KSR post-game show.
The cats win at 7563 over the Ole Miss Rebels to go to 7 and 4.
in the SEC now.
We talked before we go back to the phone lines,
859, 280, 2, 287.
We talked about that David Robinson game,
Billy, when he played for Navy,
and they came into Rupp Arena.
UK beat Navy.
But here's what David Robinson stats that game.
45 points, 14 rebounds,
10 block shots.
Wow.
Ain't a bad night's work.
Now, dude had a game.
1987.
How old were you, Billy?
Negative 8.
eight. Now, the most, they may have probably said this during the radio broadcast, but the record
in Rupp Arena for block shots, David Robson has it with 10, but the Kentucky record was nine before
tonight. Sam Bowie, Andre Riddick, and Willie Colley Stein, all with nine block shots in a game,
and now Ugo is the record holder. How about that? It's just amazing that these bigs can go
out there and look like, you know, deer on ice and just look completely lost.
And then other nights, you know, Big Z scores 11 or Uganda breaks the, or ties the Rupp Arena
block record.
It's, they have their nights and the good nights and bad.
Now, you know, before the Gonzaga game, Cal said he was going to play everybody.
And then before this game, like last night, he said something like, hey, I'm going to trim
the roster down.
So Big Z didn't play.
Trey Berks didn't play.
do you and Bradshaw played some not a lot but he got some minutes do you anticipate Billy that's that's the way it's going to stay well we'll have to see how Trey mitchell feels right i mean that's a guy who played 21 minutes and was getting to a lot of 50-50 balls cal praised him about that so i don't know i could see it changing when it comes to injuries but i guess in the one game where cal had everybody healthy maybe that's what you can expect 859 2802 2287
That's our phone number.
So, Billy, who we got?
Start with Emily.
Emily.
Go ahead, Emily.
Hi, Ryan.
How are you?
Is this Emily that won the tickets?
No.
No, but that is a long story, but no, I'm not.
I was not the Emily that won the tickets.
Well, that was a great story.
Hang on just one second.
If you missed it in the pregame show, we had a little contest,
and a guy named Nate won some tickets,
Emily just missed out on winning the tickets,
and Nate gave him.
the tickets to Emily.
So Emily could go to her first ever game.
Yeah, it was a good moment.
So go ahead, Emily.
What you got for us?
Okay, so was there last week when we lost and was really upset.
So I was really nervous going in tonight, but really excited that we won.
But I do have to say, so we poached some tickets, seats down at lower level, right?
Yeah.
Because we were upper level, we pote lower level.
Those seats are so nice and comfortable.
I can see why people do not get up and are crazy when we are well doing well because those seats are so comfortable.
Yeah.
Just that I'd let you know.
Okay, Emily.
Thank you.
Appreciate phone call.
Yeah.
Billy, I did the same thing Saturday at the Gonzag.
Well, you found some seats that were open.
You just nosied on down.
I was up in the arena in Section.
227 as we made a big deal about and then at a half time Bobby English our KSR friend said hey man
there's two open seats by me so Yogi Viro and I snuck down to to lower arena and Emily's right
the seats are much better they have cushioned seats and they have chairbacks and coke holders
and everything else in the lower area so yeah it is much better I think that's fair if there's nobody
sitting in those seats for at least a half and then it's a fair game but there's nothing like
the walk of shame when somebody does call you out on that oh i know i've done that too you sitting in the
chair and they're like uh dude those are my seats like uh my bad i'm just keeping it warm all right who's
next uh connor is next connor go ahead connor you know what's up guys i just wanted to uh if it's okay
shout up my friend that are getting engaged soon cardie and amelia also big kentucky fans
okay wait a minute what's her name cardi like uh e a r t i or t i
And then Amelia.
Cardi and Amelia.
All right.
Congratulations on getting engaged.
859-2802-287.
That's our phone number.
So who we got next, Billy?
Let's see.
Let's reset here.
Let's go to Brandon.
Brandon.
Brandon in Vegas.
Go ahead, Brandon in Vegas.
Ryan, I don't know if I can follow that one,
but it's been a long time.
I've seen he since Boise, but maybe once.
Well, did you go to the Super Bowl out there in Vegas?
That's the big question.
No, we stay far, far away from that crazy.
So a couple things I wanted to get in last week.
I'll start positive.
We won a good game tonight, and we love this team, and we love these players.
But we're two and five in the last, what, five games, seven games, whatever it is.
We beat Vanderbilt, bottom of the league, and we beat.
Ole Miss at home. We're supposed to win at home. And, you know, Tennessee's a good team. They came
in and they whooped us. That's okay. Florida, I'm not so sure about in Gonzaga, no way.
Living out here in the West, I live next to two Carolina fans, and I have to listen to this stuff
all season. Thank God they lost tonight. But with that said, I'm listening to the post game
tonight. And, you know, we love cow. We love the cow from 2009 to 2017. But it has a
hasn't been the same. You own the
Rupp Arena record for the worst loss.
The Ruperina record for the most losses in a row,
the worst tournament loss,
and it's just not been Kentucky basketball.
And I don't need to listen to Cal get on the damn radio
show at the end of the game and say, well, it's on me. You don't take it out
on the players. We're not taking it out on the players. We love these players.
We're taking it out on you because you're not the same.
So get it together.
let's win, let's go to March, and let's make a run,
because anything outside of the Final Four is unacceptable.
And I'm tired of having to deal with Carolina fans and Gonzaga fans and Duke fans out here.
So help us out.
All right, Brandon, appreciate it.
I mean, you know, there's a lot of people in Brandon's boat, and they feel that way.
And I heard Cal's postgame comments, and he did a lot of acting like he didn't listen to the clutter,
but yet then he went and talked a lot about the clutter.
So, Billy, what do you do?
I don't know, Brian, you just let them talk, I guess.
He also said that he didn't know who they were playing.
I heard that.
Did you hear that?
I don't believe that even for a second.
Well, I get, like, focusing on your own team, but not knowing who your opponent is the day before.
Yeah.
I think maybe, I think you maybe either, if that's true, maybe you need to be a little more attentive or not tell us that because we want you completely focused.
We want you, like, not knowing the day before who you're supposed to play.
Yeah, we know that we got the rest of the schedule memorized.
You should too.
Who's next, Billy?
Maybe the game plan changes.
Yeah.
Po.
Po.
Go ahead, Po.
Yeah, Billy, he sounds like somebody's in the White House right now.
I'm not going to name names, but Coach Cal, his accolades are amazing.
I mean, really, we'll never forget him what he's done for us,
one national championship.
I think if the shot clock violation had been called against Wisconsin,
with our undefeated team, we would have won that game and won the national championship then.
And the COVID year, we had a shot.
But he's a great recruiter.
I think, but at the end of games,
and the SEC has gotten so much better
and gotten so much better coaches now,
X's and O's at the end of games
and starting people.
Good starts, I think,
create good tempo for the whole game
and momentum for the whole game.
And we've not gotten great starts
because even, I mean,
Booker and Ulyss were better than the twins, let's face it.
He didn't start them.
He didn't start Shep and Dillingham earlier this year
when they were definitely doing better statistically.
All right, Paul.
All right, man, appreciate it.
Billy, I was going to ask you, were you surprised by the starting lineup tonight
with, you know, Trey has been out, boom, he starts.
DJ got a couple minutes last game against Gonzaga, and he started.
kept Edwards in there with Ugo and Rees.
What did you think about that starting lineup?
You know, I thought that maybe he would have gone completely small
with Mitchell at the five and I do at the four,
but he did start Ugo and that looked like the right decision.
But the fact that he's not starting Reed and Rob is comical at this point.
And I, you know, I get his argument, but at the same time,
like if you were to go into like analytics and numbers
on how much better Kentucky plays with those guys on the court,
it does not make one single sense to have those guys coming off the bench.
But, you know, he's a Hall of Fame coach.
I'm not, so.
Now, the argument is, well, you get that pop when Reed and Dilley come off the bench.
And if you had Edwards and Adieu coming off the bench, you're not going to get that pop.
What do you think about that?
I mean, how about the inverse where you have a lead at the first media timeout instead of having to need a pop?
I don't know.
It's clearly Reed Shepard is the most impactful player on this time.
team. Would you agree with that?
Oh, no, there's no doubt.
The dude's unbelievable.
But, like, you kind of alluded to, and Poe just said that, too, they get off to a bad start.
That's why that Draft Kings race to 10.
Not a good bet this year for Kentucky isn't it?
No, you bet the other team.
You just constantly block it tonight.
I bet Ole Miss race to 10, and they got it.
Although Kentucky scored nine in a row to make it nine to five.
Nope, Ole still got to 10 first because they do not get off to very good starts.
And, you know, I don't know if, did they set off fireworks before the game started?
Because there was like haze over the court until like the first media time out.
Yeah, they did it at the Gonzaga game.
But for whatever reason, there was kind of a smoky haze that hung around there for a while.
Jack mentioned it during the broadcast.
I think I heard him say even one time.
What are we doing?
I don't know.
But if that's what helped them win, shoot all the fireworks you want.
Whatever you need to do, do it again.
If Jay Billis wants ice cream,
Get him ice cream if they're going to help them win the basketball game.
So that's what we'll do.
All right, we'll take our break.
Come back.
We'll load up the phone lines again.
859-2-8-8-8-8-0-cats.
Ryan and Billy, Kentucky, a winner.
Winner, winter, chicken dinner.
We'll be right back.
This is the Kentucky Toyota Dealers KSR Postgame Show.
Welcome back to local Toyota Dealer's KSR post-game show.
Ryan and Billy up late tonight is where we go past the 1 o'clock hour.
Kentucky, a winner, 75, 63.
Holding Ole Miss to 63 points is awesome.
29 points in the first half is all they had.
Because the defense, great defensive effort by the catch tonight.
A good three-point shooting team,
Ole Miss was only 5 of 22 from threes.
You credit that all to the defensive pro,
just the energy, you know, CalPretz.
You know, we've got to get 10% better on defense.
I don't really know what that's supposed to mean,
but they were.
They were definitely better on defense tonight.
And they do that.
a team that we've been waiting for, especially on the defensive end.
Now, Billy, you've probably have already seen the box score, right?
Yeah, I got it here.
Don't look at it.
I was going to ask you a question.
Oh, okay.
Did you look at it?
I'm not looking at it now.
You know who had the highest plus minus tonight?
Oh, I can guess.
Is it Reed?
Reed Shepard, 19.
Highest by far.
Here's my question for you.
Who do you think had the second highest plus minus?
Hmm.
Was it Hugo?
No.
Rob Dillingham.
Aaron Bradshaw.
Really?
Was a plus 16 tonight.
And I say that because I got this text on my phone.
I guess that's the text machine tonight.
I love the energy AB brought off the bench tonight in his limited minutes.
A.B. Billy is Aaron Bradshaw.
Okay.
All right.
He didn't pout or feel sorry for himself.
He gave 110% every single time he got in and played great minutes tonight.
I respect him for that.
that's true he's a guy whose minutes were going to go down and the short and limited rotation he came in
you know did what he was supposed to do i thought it was a good effort by him night and that's why he
had a plus 16 yeah i mean i'm sure it's a little humbling as a consensus five-star lottery pick in
the next NBA draft to come in and you know only played 10 minutes a game and sparingly so it's good
to see his energy levels up like that and also justin edwards who i think scored the first seven
points of the game for kentucky so it was awesome
he is yoga girl's favorite player
because he's kind of struggled
he was getting down you could tell you know
lowering his head and shoulders slumping
but man that's that's three games in a row
the dude has brought it
and way he came out of the gate tonight
that was fantastic you know the over under on him
and points on draft king tonight
was only seven and a half
and he had that in the first three minutes of the game
yep yeah good on him
I think we're over I got I got one more box score question
for you that I thought was surprising
Do you know who the leading rebounder was tonight?
I don't.
Antonio Reeves was seven was the leading rebounder tonight.
That guy just does it all and quietly too.
Yeah, very quiet.
I'll tell you one thing though, and Jack asked him about this,
I heard on the postgame show tonight.
They're not giving him a three.
Their defender guys are coming way out on him
and not leaving him, and he can't get the three.
So that's why he's been so effective beating his guy and hitting a little floater because he's not being able to get a three off.
Well, yeah, and they've got so many three-pointers this year, it doesn't matter, right?
That's and that's hard to believe.
But yeah, he's going to get his.
All right.
859-280-2287.
Who we got, Billy.
Bobby.
Bobby, go ahead, Bobby.
So I'm going to go ahead and start out with Reeves floater is automatic.
It almost reminds me of like Taita when he was pull up to that 15.
team footer or quickly remember quickly little floater was money when he was doing
he coming in the lane like that yeah also another one and my other thing is let rob
play through his slump because he had three turnovers early and he comes out and
drops 10 to the second half yeah yeah i i appreciate it bobby i mean dillingham is just a
scoring machine. And you're just going to, we said this back in December, you're just going to have to live and die with some mistakes he's going to make because he's going to make some mistakes. He's just going to do it. He's just that kind of player. That's his game. But then he'll make up for it and some on the offensive in, won't he?
Yeah, he bounced back after struggling early. So I think that was important too. So just keeping these guys motivated and together, I think it's going to be important for John.
Who's next, Billy? Dave is next. Dave. Go ahead, Dave.
Yeah, Brian, thanks for taking a call. I appreciate it.
Thanks for calling in, Dave.
Yeah, I have a couple of comments here.
First of all, let's say a little prayer for Trey Mitchell, hopefully, that he's all right,
because we're going to need down the stretch to really go far into March.
I do believe that.
Second of all, I was at the game tonight, and I thought the energy was really good in the room.
I thought Roperina was fairly packed.
I was worried about people not showing up and being negative,
but it was really exciting, and it was a fun game.
So we needed that as a Kentucky team.
I'm glad you said that, Dave, because, you know,
know, we have not had any tickets to give away the entire SEC season.
None.
And then tonight, all of a sudden, tickets, people were just giving us tickets to give away to fans.
And that kind of, I kind of concerned me about what the crowd was going to be
and what the energy was going to be at Rupp.
So it's good to hear you say it was good.
Yes, it was.
We really had a good meal of wife.
Went down to date night for Valentine's, early Valentine's.
Addo boy.
Really good time.
Yeah, take care of my girl.
Nothing says I love you like an ice cream from Rupp Arena, Dave.
Well, that's right.
And we also did a KSR bar.
We did a bacon cheeseburger thing.
It was really good, too.
Oh, Dave.
You've set the bar pretty high for Billy and me with our dates tomorrow night.
So, yeah, appreciate it.
All right, Dave, appreciate the phone call.
Billy, do you have your Valentine's Day plan for tomorrow?
I do, yes.
I always cook on Valentine's Day.
So I got some Noche-Linda Farms Falaes coming in tomorrow.
Coming in tomorrow, I got some shrimp and asparagus at the store.
Maybe a loaded baked potato, right?
I didn't know you were this Mr. Romantic here.
Well, you know, one of us in the KSR group just certainly doesn't cook.
Who knows what's in his fridge currently right now.
Zero.
There's zero in that man's fridge.
Unless it's Mr. Pib zero.
That's more ground beef for me to cook up.
So your Valentine tradition for you and your lovely lady is you cook the dinner.
Same meal every Valentine's Day, yep.
steak and what did you say spinach and asparagus asparagus baked potato and a little dessert well kind of proud of you and that way when you put in all that effort and if it's good you don't necessarily have to buy an expensive gift that's the key ryan actually instead of going and spending four hundred dollars at a local establishment that may or may not be affiliated with ksr but i will say we had a proposal at rup arena tonight did you see
see that. No, I didn't. I missed it.
I was on the hunk cam in the first half.
Yeah. The guy wore his best
camo pants for the occasion.
Had a boy? Got down on one knee
and she said yes. Well,
I missed it and I'm sorry, but if the guy
had on camel pants, what are the odds?
He's from the 13th region.
He's from Manchester.
He's from London.
He's from Barville. He's Corbyn. He's
13th region. If he had camel pants on
at Rupp Arena, knowing he was
going to propose to his girlfriend.
Yeah, I'm just, I'm hoping he hears this and calls in tomorrow.
Like the girl that was dropped all those years ago calling into KSR the other day.
That was unbelievable.
That's right.
Yeah, for sure.
Okay, so yeah, Billy, you put the call out.
If you're the guy, please call in the pre-show or KSR tomorrow because we want to talk to you and see how the, I guess, did she say yes?
Yeah, yeah, they did.
And then some Rupp Arena workers came over.
They had some flowers.
Oh, and ice cream cone probably.
Oh, I don't know about that, but Jay Billis got hit.
is.
I know.
They walk it over to him like he's some God.
And it's become more part of the show anymore.
Yeah, it's gross.
All right.
Who's next?
Doing good.
Doing good.
Hey, doing good.
How are you doing?
I'm always doing good, Ryan?
I'm always doing good.
I'm doing good.
Are you doing good, Billy?
I'm doing good.
Billy's doing good.
How about doing good?
How are you doing?
I'll tell you what.
I think we should give some big hats off right now to Billy.
Man's been on the radio since the 9 o'clock pre-show that means you.
He was probably there, what, 815, 8.30 at the very latest with show prep.
And here it is, 115 at night almost.
I mean, that's just a soldier right there.
That's awesome.
I appreciate you doing good.
We'll be back at it tomorrow morning.
Billy, it's so nice for your dad to call in if we got back from the Super Bowl tonight.
Hey, Ryan, the fun game tonight.
It was good to see him kind of get clicking a little bit on the defensive end.
Obviously, that's been a concern.
the thing that really worried me, and this was like within the first, I think, like, two to three minutes,
when they had the Valentine called the shot clock violation a little bit too soon,
and then they inbound the ball with 0.4 seconds to go, and the dude shot the three from his hip,
as it was in the air in my head, I was going, if they make this, we're going to lose this game.
This is absolutely crazy.
Thank goodness they waved it off.
Did you have any feelings like that, or am I completely nuts?
No, no.
When that ball went in, I think all of us probably had that thought like, oh, this is not going to be our night.
You know, if they throw in something like that.
I'm with you.
I know exactly that feeling you're talking about.
Yeah, my heart just hit the floor.
So thank goodness I got kind of waved off.
Really, I cannot say, we were rooting for Edwards so much to break through.
So it was great to see him there in the first part of the game.
Yeah.
Kind of take over a little bit.
So real excited about that.
I mean, this team still got a lot of heart.
You know, we still, we're behind them all the way.
want them to really do well.
Obviously, you go with the 10 blocks.
Holy cow, the dude was like, from where he was a year ago, the improvement is just absolutely
amazing.
And Ryan, you'll appreciate this.
I coach a middle school baseball team.
I love Cal.
I think he's absolutely the perfect fit here.
I wish he would teach a couple of things on his press conferences, but I'm sorry, our season
doesn't start for three weeks.
I know exactly who is pitching every single game.
and whether they're middle relief, starter, closer, whatever it is for our first two weeks of our games,
how does Cal not know who we're playing?
Seriously?
Come on, man.
Be real with this.
That's all we ask.
But overall, just real excited about the potential for this team.
We can't go anywhere but up.
But, you know, just going to cheer on that words.
Hope Trey is obviously feeling better.
Yeah, for sure.
But you guys are doing a great job, Billy.
Keep at it.
I'm working hard.
Ryan, you always do a great show.
I appreciate you guys and we'll talk to you later.
All right.
You know, Billy, you know what I think he said about the UK basketball team?
What's that?
They were doing good.
I think he said they were doing good.
Yeah, he's, you know, it's hard to always be doing good, but, you know, more power to him.
But he also said that about Justin Edwards.
Do you know what he said about Justin Edwards?
What?
He's doing good.
He also said it couldn't get worse.
It could definitely get worse, right?
Oh, it could definitely get worse.
They could have lost tonight.
Four losses at home.
It's only up from here.
Only up from here.
And you got a road trip to Auburn on Saturday.
Mary one of the top teams in the country.
Did you see Vandy beat Texas A&M at the buzzer tonight?
No, was that a final?
Yeah.
I knew it was close.
I didn't know who won that game.
Yeah, it was an interesting game winner.
They kind of just heaved it up from the free throw line.
Not full court, but.
Shannon, the dude will be hard to deal with tomorrow on your pre-show then in the morning.
Oh, he's been hard to deal with lately.
Oh, pump of his chest, these Vanderbilt Commodore.
winning a last second shot over Texas A&M.
So, all right, we got one more break and one more segment, right?
That's correct.
All right, let's take our break, our final break.
Then we'll come back to our final segment, 859-280-2287.
Ryan and Billy, going to wrap it up here on the Local Toyota Diders KSR Postgame Show.
All right, welcome back.
Final segment, Local Toyota News KSR Post-Game show.
I went to the Twitter machine there, Billy, and found some good ones.
so I'd like to read them for you before we go to the phone line.
Would that be all right?
This is from our good friend J.D. Shelbert.
Well, I love J.D. Shelburne.
And J.D. you need to let us know where you're playing in Nashville with the SEC tournament.
Why are people calling the Post-Game show complaining about Kyle Perry and our team?
We won. Cut them off, Ryan.
This is silly. Be happy, Kentucky fans.
It says a lot, man.
You know, the people that have their, you know, narrative and people think KSR, we got a narrative that they want Cal to fail.
Absolutely not.
fans, man. We don't want to be critical. We don't want to talk negative.
But yeah, we did. We did. Billy, I think Kentucky did win tonight, if I'm not mistaken.
They did. And there are some positives to take away from it, considering the last four losses
Kentucky's played in. They let their opponent average over 90 points a game. I mean, come on. And
they held them to what in this game? 63 points. I mean, that's incredible compared to the trend
that we've seen lately. So, yeah, there's things to be critical about, but there's also some
positive.
And apparently I called Jordan Burks, Trey Berks, earlier in the show.
Of course, Trey Berks played for Michigan.
So if that slipped out.
Yeah, come on, right.
Come on, man.
I mean, it is 115 in the morning.
I should have caught it.
But, yeah, what's the matter with you?
You dumped the one caller, right, that was not talking nice.
You can see, you were on the ball for that.
Yeah, I got him.
I got him.
Yeah, you didn't help me.
So, all right, 859, 2802.2.
So we got five callers.
We'll get to all five of them, and then we'll wrap it up tonight.
Who we got, Billy?
All right, let's do it.
Let's go to Travis.
Travis, go ahead, Travis.
Ryan Lemon, how's it going, my man?
I'm good, Travis.
How are you, my man?
I'm doing great.
Doing great.
Are you doing good?
I'm doing good.
I would counter J.D.'s point towards the fan base to capture what Cal said in the post-game show.
He was very negative.
I mean, we just had this huge win.
Probably the biggest win.
Probably our best game of the year, our most complete performance.
And Cal goes out in the postgame show and takes shots at the media,
take shots at the fans, specifically saying, you know, this, it's not for everybody to coach here.
Or it's not for everybody to play here.
But then to take it a step further and say,
it's not for everybody to be a fan here.
That drives me crazy, man.
I don't know.
I came out of the womb wearing Kentucky blue.
And when Cal leads, I'm still going to be wearing Kentucky blue.
Yeah.
Just because he hasn't been very good the past few years
and deserves criticism, that doesn't make us bad fans.
That doesn't mean we can't be a fan of the program.
So instead of taking this opportunity to,
go out and say, hey, you know, how about that game?
This was awesome.
I'm glad we got to do that in front of the fans at Ruff Arena.
Instead, you say, it's not for everybody to be a fan here.
Travis, we appreciate it, man.
Thanks for the phone call.
Yeah, I mean, I know, and I know we'll get into it tomorrow.
I didn't want to get into a whole lot today, but my favorite part was
where he said like he didn't listen to the clutter, but then he talked about the clutter.
But they did win.
They had a great defensive effort.
He preached they were going to be better defensively.
They did get better defensively.
He said we're going to cut the rotation down.
He did cut the rotation down.
You finally get all your players back, and now you lose one.
Well, it looks like maybe a little shoulder injury.
So hopefully Trey is going to be okay and comes back because they're going to need him at Auburn on Saturday.
Who's next, Billy?
Drew.
Drew, go ahead, Drew.
Greetings from Corbyn.
Guys get to talk to you.
Two things.
One, I want to counter Travis because I agree with J.D.
We need to be positive.
And I listened to Cal's post game, and I didn't take it as negative at all.
And I think that we really hear sometimes what we want to hear.
And so, you know, I don't know, Travis, but he sounded like he probably went into it,
expecting Cal to say some things that I guess he kind of took.
Because I listen to it, and I'm pumped again about this.
And I think the thing that bothers me is we got all these things that worked out.
Like you just now said, Ron, you just ran down the thing that, you know,
getting the team healthy.
again and getting the rotations right and all those things happen and we still have people leaving
with two minutes to go and the crowd gets panned uh the camera does and people are just with their arms
crossed during our big run so that that really really bothers me even more so than calce anything
and i got one more thing real quick about valentine's day and then i'm going to jump um i was getting uh
i was getting flowers uh today and there was a guy in the aisle he had flowers too and he said
Hey, we were looking at cards.
He said, men, and it crazy.
We spend all this money on something.
It's just going to wilt and die.
And I said, yeah, and you've got to buy our flowers.
Good not go.
Okay.
You know, Drew Dunner and Corbyn,
nothing says love like a chili dog and a root beer at the root beer stand in Corbyn.
That's.
There's your date.
That sounds like a Valentine's Day date to me.
Of course, I don't think they open until March, though.
They only open in the spring in the summer and the fall.
Oh, yeah.
They closed down for the winter.
Maybe, I don't know.
I did hear the big dipper in Owensboro's now,
excepting credit cards.
And if that happens, I mean, who knows what's going to happen next in this world?
What's next?
Who's up next?
Madison.
Madison.
How are you, Madison?
I'm great, Ryan.
How are you?
Well, it's good to hear from you, Madison.
What do you got for us?
Well, I just wanted to call and personally thank you for my cameo that I got tonight for Valentine's Day.
You've already got it.
He gave it to you a day early.
Yes
I thought I gave you some good advice
I thought I gave you some good advice
Madison
He did I loved it
Well what now
I mean he set the bar pretty high
He ordered you a cameo from
For Valentine's Day
I mean I don't know what he can do
To top that now
I know now we need a ring
Oh now I see what this is going
Now I see what this is going
I might be able to play this over the air Billy
if I can figure out a way to do this.
Are you going to play your cameo to her over the air?
Yeah, yeah.
We'll just play it for Madison here if I can figure out how to do it.
Oh, wait a minute.
This is it right here.
Hang on.
Okay.
Hello, Madison.
Here you go, Billy.
That's a good one.
Wow.
That was a good one.
Here's number two.
See?
That was good.
I had a couple love poems for Madison on Valentine's Day.
I thought the first one was a little better than the second one.
But yeah, good job, right.
Yeah.
All right, Madison.
We got the win.
Got the win.
It was all because of your guy and your Valentine's Day, so I hope you enjoy it.
Thank you.
You're welcome, Madison.
All right, Billy.
Who's next?
Walker is next.
Walker.
Go ahead, Walker.
Hey, Ryan.
How's it going?
How are you, Walker?
Doing well, calling in from Murray, originally from Newburgh, Indiana.
Oh, shout out.
I know Newburgh.
Did you go to Castle High School?
I sure did.
I got a connection to Bruce Pearl, though, kind of.
Okay.
Let's hear it.
So I currently play golf at Murray State.
My high school coach played basketball at USA for Bruce Pearl.
What's his name?
Josh Kane.
Josh Kane played basketball at USA for Coach Pearl.
Yes, sir.
See, I was there.
I was working in Evansville when Bruce Pearl got the job at USA.
They were good.
They won the national championship one year with Bruce Pearl because coach at USA.
Yes, sir.
Yeah.
I think he was there in late 90s, but just watching the game, very excited.
kind of got me talking to my buddies like, man, we are thinking about this beating Auburn and, you know, catching the bait a little bit.
But I think if a good first half Saturday, we can hopefully get the wind down there in the planes.
Appreciate it, Walker, and tell Josh I said hello.
Bill, it's going to be tough.
I mean, at Auburn, Saturday, that's just a game that, you know, of course they can win it.
Of course, they can light up the scoreboard and score in the 90s any night.
do we have can we duplicate the defensive effort tonight and take it down to
albert on Saturday that'll be the question yep let's see how healthy tray mitchell is let's
see how much cal tightens the rotation maybe a tweak is in order we'll see but uh i mean if they
can keep it competitive i'd you know not going to count that as a win it is still kentucky
basketball you got to have some higher standards than that but albren's a pretty good team this
year all right this could be our last caller then who we got adam adam adam go ahead
Adam.
How's going
I'm Brian
Philly.
First time,
long time.
All right,
Adam.
What you got for us?
I just
going to talk about
the game.
Pretty good
game.
High intensity.
I loved it.
We finally
out rebound the
team for once.
So that was
a positive.
Hoping we can
keep it up.
Go to
Auburn,
Saturday,
and get the
win.
A great night.
Came by
K.S.
Bard.
My son's birthday.
Nice.
Took into the arena
for the
time.
Yeah.
We
We said hi to you, but you just walked by us.
Damn, Ryan.
Oh, man.
Cut me here on the last caller here.
Well, it kind of hurt our feelings.
He's a big fan of the show.
It was when you was walking outside on your break and just coming back in.
We said, hey, Ryan, a couple times.
You just looked at us and it was a little meme mug, so.
Wow.
We didn't know if it was the bad day or you was just angry about doing the postgame show or?
That had to be.
Adam. I had to be it. I was upset. I had to do the post-good.
So this was when I had to go out and give a high-five to the tickets.
I'm not sure what you were sitting in the, we was on the outside, indoor part, but the outside,
and you ran outside to do something, and you came back again.
I think that's what it was, Billy. I had to go outside and give somebody a high-five
to try to win some tickets, and I didn't hear Adam and his son hollering at me.
You were on a mission. You didn't have time for the fans.
That's right. So we'll come bring him back again, Adam,
and we'll hook him up.
Definitely sure will.
Appreciate you.
All right, brother.
We'll appreciate it.
Wow.
Kind of cut me right there on the last show.
Yeah.
Last caller.
Last caller.
So, all right, so that's going to do it.
We've got the pre-show tomorrow at 9 with Shannon and Billy, KSR,
course, from 10 to 12.
And the next Saturday, Kentucky travels to the plains.
Auburn, Alabama.
6 o'clock tip-off.
It's going to be a tough one.
No doubt about it.
Then they go to on the road trip for a 9 o'clock game.
at LSU.
LSU's not that strong,
but those 9 o'clock games in the conference
and the midweek games can get you sometimes.
You're going to be doing that post game too?
I don't know.
I'm not going to show up and do his posting show.
We'll have to wait to see what he's got going on.
Yeah, okay.
Then you come home and you host Alabama
a week from Saturday.
Alabama, one of the best teams in the conference.
Then you go to Mississippi State.
Then you come home and you got two games you should win.
Home against Arkansas, home against Vanderbilt.
before you end the regular season at Tennessee in Knoxville
on the Saturday before the SEC time.
That was good.
Do you have that in front of you?
Yes.
Oh, okay.
Yes, I had that pulled up because I didn't, I couldn't.
I got one more thing I wanted to read.
Yeah.
Before we get out of it, we're getting out of here.
We try to get here at 1.30.
Me and my wife,
go ahead.
Valentine's Day tradition, we order pizza and eat it by candlelight.
That's how you do it right there.
That's the way you need to celebrate your Valentine's Day every time.
Just turn on a ball.
ball game, get some pizza and eat it by candlelight.
Welcome to marriage.
That'll do it for the post game show. Billy did a great job.
You too, Ryan. Thanks for staying up with me. Good luck in the morning and good luck with Shannon.
Same to you, brother. All right. Folks, Kentucky wins it. Be happy. It's a win. Could have been a lot
worse. Catch now 7 and 4 in the SEC. That's pretty good. I'll take it. This has been Ryan.
This has been Billy and this has been the local total dealers. KSR postgame show.
