It is the local toy dealers, KSR postgame show. The Cats in the first exhibition game that we have gotten to do a postgame show for. Beat Texas Tech 7665. You can give us a shout. It's a good kind of intro to the season.
Starting point is 00:02:59 859-280-2287. What did you think about the game and the team? Good crowd at Rupp Arena, not packed, but a pretty good crowd, especially considering its exhibition game. And I thought a very solid performance for Kentucky. They came out offensively first half, tough to watch, but were sort of led by their defense, I thought, for a great part of the first half. you got to see really two different sides of what the kind of possibility of this basketball team is. And this first half, I think you saw what is probably going to be the most consistent strength for Kentucky this year, which is their length. I thought it gave Texas Tech a lot of problems. They're without JT. Topping.
Starting point is 00:03:45 They don't have a ton of size in that group of Malachi and Injai and then even in Milan. at that 3, 4, 5 position really gave them fits. I thought early on Texas Tech could not get offense going. They hit a little spurt to take a lead, but then a 15-0 run from Kentucky really was the difference in the game. I think it's important to talk a little bit about why that happened. But I think the length for Kentucky all year is really going to be a story. And while I don't know that this team is that good at guarding one-on-one, I think
Starting point is 00:04:23 that length makes them very, very difficult to score on inside. And thus, if a team's not shooting well from outside, which Texas Tech really didn't, and they're a pretty good shooting team, they only shot 26% from three, then we only shot 29%. But by limiting their ability to score in the interior, especially in the first half, it gave Kentucky a chance to build up the lead. And then on that 15-0 run, and for a good part of when the starters were playing in the second half, I thought you got to see a lot of when Kentucky's offense can be in a flow. It is clear to me this team will run based on three guys. Number one to me is actually Milan, no matter how many points he scores.
Starting point is 00:05:15 He had 15 tonight, but his impact is far greater than three of five field goals. He's two of four from three, but what he does, even when he doesn't score, is they attach one and at times two, but they have a defender that just will not leave him no matter what, and you can't because if he gets an inch, it's in. And then that allows guys like Alex Wilkins, Mason Williams, to have lanes to the basket. One of the problems for Kentucky, I thought last year, a lot of the year, is because they didn't have anybody really except Chandler who could consistently make threes until the end of the year when Aberdeen did some. It was hard for them to get paths to go to the basket. Milan almost does that, in my opinion, by himself. Because if you set pick and roll with him or go to his side, his man's not going to leave him, or at least didn't tonight.
Starting point is 00:06:11 And you got a chance to beat your guy to the basket. And Kentucky, I thought, could have done even better at finishing on those. But you saw a lot of penetration, draw the defender, throw the lob to Milan, throw to the offside to Injai. I felt like there were shots there for Zoom, except he just didn't seem to want to shoot for whatever reason. But overall, I think once they got into that rhythm, I thought their offense, it was bad at first, but I thought they really went through runs that were good. And in some ways it was almost at the best when Alex Wilkins, who's not a point guard,
Starting point is 00:06:48 at least I wouldn't think he would be, but he played it in their best scoring positions. They almost had him at the point Mason at the two at times. And I actually thought they looked really good. The second is Malachi, who was excellent offensively. Defensively, I thought he played pretty good defense. Got a rebound. That was the only thing. I don't know if he got tired or,
Starting point is 00:07:12 maybe just slightly didn't give the effort, but he was out rebounded. The offensive rebounds what kept Texas Tech in the game. But Malachi, he's bigger. I noticed that when he was on the show today. He is just stronger. Upper body is more developed, and you could see that today. I thought he kind of could get any shot he wanted down low. And then I like Injai a lot.
Starting point is 00:07:34 He's not scared to shoot, Billy. I'll tell you that about the game. Let it fly. He is not he is not in shy I can tell you that he's going to well done well it was good wasn't it you like that I did I did yeah good I don't know if I came up with that or if I saw it on Twitter let's just say somebody else did I won't but in shy is good because he he shot it especially early out as soon as he did could get it but his length is really really helpful he rebounds well so I like that kid a lot overall you won a game
Starting point is 00:08:07 against the top 25 team. I think when they get topping back, they will be really, really good. I don't think they're really good right now. But when they get topping back, I mean, Williams only had nine points, and I think he's a lot better than that. But you won.
Starting point is 00:08:23 And, you know, we learned last year in the Purdue game. You can't take too much from these games, but I think there was a collective feeling left in Kentucky fans, Miles, after last week, where they were bummed about it. And it was kind of a, you know, we talked about. There was a sort of prevailing sense of negativity
Starting point is 00:08:46 around the fan base. And this is obvious, this is an injection back the other way. I mean, to win the game, but also to see how this team could be good. This team, I think I thought this team would be one thing.
Starting point is 00:09:02 But I actually think it's going to be different. they're a weird mix. They have a lot of length, which not Pope's teams haven't, at least here, haven't really had. So you got all this length at all these positions. You've got a great shooter. Milan, I mean, we've got to see how he performs. But on paper, he could be one of the three best three-point shooters
Starting point is 00:09:29 in the history of the school. He's got to do it, but he did it last year at Iowa State. so it's not like it's theoretical. He can do it. And we really haven't had a guy like that, except Kobe Brea in the last five years. Reed was like that a little bit. But what he does for you on offense is so spectacular.
Starting point is 00:09:49 So you got that. You have guards that to me, this team is going to rise or fall based on these three guards. The reality is we have three guards. And I don't know what if Morton, I don't know when or if he's going to play. So you got three guards. Alex Wilkins, I think I know what I'm going to get.
Starting point is 00:10:11 It's going to be a roller coaster building. The highs are going to be really high. It really is. The lows are going to be low. That's just him. That's what you got. You got a dude who he put the game away. Six points.
Starting point is 00:10:23 And then I think he drew a foul. He put the game away. Because of him, a four point game became a win. He also is, is, is, well, sometimes. But that's him. And I'm good with that. Mason Williams is better than I thought he was. Much better, as a matter of fact. I mean, that kid was ranked, what, 120th? He's a lot better than that. He is, he's really good. He reminds me a little bit of his dad in the way that he plays. Five of eight, and he's got that ability when he gets the little six or eight foot jumper, that seems to be his thing.
Starting point is 00:10:57 Get into the bass, get in the lane, hit the six or eight footer. That's a great quality to have. And he's good. at it. He does not look like a freshman and he certainly doesn't look like the 120th ranked player. Zoom is a little worrisome. And, you know, we've been hearing in practice that they weren't getting from Zoom what they hoped. So he and Alex had six turnovers combined. That's not great. But a little concern with Zoom. Doesn't have the greatest ball control. But you know what? If Mason Williams is as good as he's been. then maybe they just flip in how we in how things go we'll see but they only have three guys and that worries me i wish they had one more player even if it was the fourth best guard i wish
Starting point is 00:11:45 they had another player so i think the success of this team is in large part going to be how how good are those guys can mason william stay consistent can Alex wilkins can his highs be really high and then what happens with zoom that to me is going to be what i watch because i still think college basketball at its core is a guards game and we we're going to need more consistency from them but overall I'm pretty happy this is a team with 14 players where depth we thought was going to be a strength and it still might be when cam comes back but it actually kind of looks like I mean this was an exhibition game where in theory you would play a lot of guys and Billy, they basically played six guys because when they went to the backups, it didn't go well in the
Starting point is 00:12:37 first half or the second half. So I kind of wonder, like, is this going to be a team where we have six guys and we see what happens? And that's okay. You can win like that. But I did think it was interesting that even though the minutes look a little spread out, you had six guys play at least 24 minutes. and then the others were 12, 8, and 5.
Starting point is 00:13:03 So, Billy, this is going to be a team where they've just got this top group, and we'll see what happens. That's a little odd. Usually an exhibition game, you'd think they'd play more, right? Like you said. You would, but I don't, I think there's a big drop off. Again, two games, not overreacting. I think Frank plays a role that's maybe like a little more skilled Lance Ware.
Starting point is 00:13:28 You know, we'll see what happens with Justin McGrath. bride. I can't get really a read on what he is yet. Braden Hawthorne, I don't know. He played eight minutes has a score line of, he played eight minutes and he has one rebound is the only thing on the statute. Minus seven with one rebound in eight minutes. So I don't know how much you're going to get from him. I do think when Cam comes back, he'll play. But maybe this is just a team that plays seven guys. Occasionally you might see Trent. Occasionally you might, you You get eight minutes from Frank or whatever. But I guess I maybe thought it was going to be deeper than it is.
Starting point is 00:14:06 So these top six guys, top seven, are going to be really important. And I think besides Zoom, I felt really good about all of them. And we'll see what happens as the year goes on with Zoom. But overall, I'm positive. Good win. I didn't think we were going to win. So you got to take it as a nice knot. 859-280-2287.
Starting point is 00:14:25 What did you notice about the game? I heard from people there, by the way, that texting me, it said, when it was when they got runs, a surprisingly loud crowd for an exhibition game, which is nice. It's hard to tell because ESPN, I don't know what it is about the sound at Rupp Games. It sounds, even when it's loud, it doesn't really come through, and I don't know why that is. But overall, nice win, and we'll talk about it. 859-280-2287. It is a Friday night, late-night post-game.
Starting point is 00:14:56 Billy has been dealing with technical issues all night. I heard that it was just a constant cluster. It was one after another. Yeah, you would have been really enjoying yourself if you were on the broadcast tonight. Did they go? They went off the air for a little bit. Yeah, yeah, we went off the air a couple times.
Starting point is 00:15:12 Was it your fault? No, no, not this time. All right, well, good. I'm glad to hear that. We'll take a break. Be right back. It's the local toy dealers, KSR post game show. Welcome back is the local toy dealers, KSR post game show.
Starting point is 00:15:25 text machine is 772-745254. One person writes, Matt, I've been listening for 12 plus years. I always thought the whole nose whistle thing was overblown, but I can hear it tonight, and now I can't unhear it. You absolutely have a nose whistle. Don't be saying that stuff. That's not true. Tell them it's not true.
Starting point is 00:15:47 I'm going to plead the fifth on this one. I mean, I do have this powerful ESPN mic here, and this thing picks up a lot of stuff. maybe piss picking up like rustling of papers or something billy because it is big like i said this time i'm pleading the fifth i got nothing to say here all right you you watch it one person says matt alex wilkins starred at point guard last year for firman he's played point guard his whole life he can be our point guard i mean he maybe that was not what he was recruited here for I mean, if he was recruited to be a point guard, they wouldn't have recruited two other point guards and had their two highest paid players both be point guards.
Starting point is 00:16:29 He was supposed to be the off guard. But you know what? If he asked to be the point guard, that's fine. He had seven assists. So tonight it worked. I don't think he's a point guard for a Pope's system because he dribbles so much. And there's a lot of dribbling tonight at the guard spot. I don't think you'll see that most of the year.
Starting point is 00:16:50 but maybe this is an interesting Pope team because I don't think it is built like his teams are usually built. I think last year that team was not built how his teams usually are built and I think he tried to play it that way and I just don't think it worked. He's playing, I mean, they played an offensive style to utilize their link tonight and it worked. It's just going to be interesting to watch. This is, I don't know how many great.
Starting point is 00:17:15 I don't know how this team's going to shoot the ball. He didn't shoot great in the first game. I didn't shoot great in the second game. I think Milan's a great shooter. I'm not sure if everybody else is, but they have such length. And if they use it to their advantage, especially when they're not playing
Starting point is 00:17:28 SEC teams, when they're playing these teams from other conferences that don't have as much, I think they can be really, really helpful. All right, who's up first? Bobby. Bobby, go ahead, Bobby. Hey, Matt.
Starting point is 00:17:39 Man, I love a show, but you could see it tonight. You found your back court. Wilkins has to be your point guard, and Mason Williams has to be your two guard. When Zoom's out there, he stands and dribbles, and we don't start running sets until there's nine, eight tickets left in the strike clock. Wilkins is a totally different player with the ball in his hands.
Starting point is 00:18:01 He started moving. He started getting confidence. The best thing about tonight was, I think, the time's your backboard. Wilkins and Williams. Well, it's one game, okay? It's one game. Yeah, you're right. I'm not going to ride off a kid on one game.
Starting point is 00:18:15 I'm not going to be like, well, Zoom can't, this kid we brought in, probably the third highest paid player on the team. We brought him in to start as our point guard. Now we're just going to say he can't play. I'm not going to do that after one game. No, I don't think he should. And also, listen, I don't care if he starts or not. We only have three guards.
Starting point is 00:18:36 He's going to have to play. I mean, there's no scenario where he's not going to play. Those three dudes are all going to play, and they're probably all going to play 20 plus minutes. So we need them all to be good, no matter who's doing what. Well, he needs to quit dribble. and to move the ball. I mean, that's just,
Starting point is 00:18:52 when he went out of the game is when we went on a 15-0 run. He did. He did, but they also played him, and I appreciate the call. They also played him a couple times with, Pope loves to do the thing, Billy, where you put all the reserves in at once. I hate that.
Starting point is 00:19:09 And both times they went all reserves. It was Zoom and the reserves, and that didn't go well. I mean, I, when Justin McRide and, And Frank and, and, um, Braden came in. They bring them in together. I don't understand that.
Starting point is 00:19:26 Like put them in with the four guys that are good. And then like they, maybe you can hide them a little bit. I mean, Frank has to replace Malachi. But maybe you leave the other four good guys in with Frank. But they put them all in together. And I think in all, in both of those situations, Zoom was the one out there with them. So I don't totally blame him for that. But I do agree with you.
Starting point is 00:19:45 He dribbles too much, at least in this game. and it is a little concerning. Who's next? Mark. Mark, go ahead, Mark. Hey, Matt, thanks for taking the call. I will agree with the fire caller. I think in the first two games,
Starting point is 00:20:02 Mason Williams has been our best guard. I agree. He's demanded that he's going to have to be on the court a good amount of time. The thing I liked tonight, I was at the game tonight, the crowd did get loud when we made the 15-0 run. I liked what we learned tonight. We learned about lineups and maybe the lineup that works at least the best so far. And I think we had enough good, you know, to show game film and to teach guys,
Starting point is 00:20:29 here's why this was good. And we had enough bad to show them, here's what you don't do. So I think it's part of the learning process. And I was excited after seeing this game much more than the first game. Yeah, me too. I appreciate the call. I was much more optimistic after this one. Now, granted, I saw the, I wonder how much watching the first game was colored by what I heard about it before I saw it.
Starting point is 00:20:54 But this one, I think Kentucky's going to be a lot more like what you saw tonight for good and bad. And I'm still developing my idea of this team because I'll be honest with you, the couple times I went to watch practice, different dudes were on the court. felt like it was hard for me just to get a sense of what this team was. And then there's a part of me that's just got to accept that Mason Williams is good. I think I in my mind just didn't have him as a guy that was going to be a key part of this team. And that's probably my fault because he's good. And I don't know how he ended up with his dad who he is. How did Billy he end up ranked 120th in the country?
Starting point is 00:21:36 Yeah, I don't know. I kind of thought that he was on the roster just so they could get his dad. I think we all did, and that was maybe we got his dad to get him. I mean, but he was going to go to Jackson State. Wow. It's a big difference. I don't see how that kid is 120. I don't know what he is.
Starting point is 00:21:58 We'll have to see how he plays this year, but he ain't 120th. So heck of a scouting move. And also you would think, I mean, usually when they're famous players' kids, they get the advantage part of me before i ever saw him play was like well if he's 120 and he's moe williams kid and he's probably like 250 it but it doesn't look it looks like to me for some reason maybe being moe williams kid punished him or maybe because he knew he was going to his dad's school teams didn't look at me i don't know but he can play who's next aaron erin go ahead go ahead Aaron hey matt um me and my dad went to your show today we had such a good time it was the
Starting point is 00:22:37 first time. I'm first time, long time calling in. And it was my dad's first time seeing you're all show. And he just, he's 82 and he had such a good time. It was so funny. He's not really even into football, but you all are putting in, you know, game scores at the end. And at the end of the show, he's throwing up numbers towards you. Like, he knows how much win by, you know. He knows. Listen, he knows as much as we do about it. So like, it's fine with me. It's not like any of us. are experts. I got such a kick out of that, though, just seeing how much he got into the show. But I loved watching, you know, the game tonight. And I think Mason Williams, man, like, we, like, he's going to be a starter by the end of the, I mean, he put up such a good show tonight.
Starting point is 00:23:28 And Alex, I think that, like, if you look at the second 10 minutes, I think of the first half, whenever he stopped, like, maybe trying to seek his own shot and just kind of get the offense involved, you really saw him shine? Like, I think that we're going to have a good team. We just got to settle in a little bit. Yeah, I mean, I appreciate the call. I think the Alex Wilkins experience is going to be fun. It's going to be fun if we don't drive ourselves crazy because, like, those back-to-back threes he hit were awesome. and I saw, I think Brett Dawson wrote, this team is going to lead the country in, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no shots, followed by,
Starting point is 00:24:10 no, no, no, no, no, yes, shots. I think that's true. In Jai and Wilkins will probably be the two leaders of that. But that three hit, that was a huge shot he hit, and he was, I mean, he was waves deep when he made it too. I like him. I like him a lot. I saw him, you know, you see a player like one time,
Starting point is 00:24:30 and you decide you know him. I saw him play one game with Furman. I was like, hey, man, that kid's really good. And then he ended up coming here. But he's going to be a wild ride. You have any player comps for him, former UK guys? No, I mean, everybody's going to compare him to Archie because of the way he plays. They're not really built the same.
Starting point is 00:24:50 I don't know. I need to see him more because, I mean, that is one of the practices I went to, he didn't play. And I saw I watched that one Furman game. So I need to see him play a little bit more. I'm trying to think, you know, I don't know. Most of the guys that play like him end up on teams where they have to shoot all the time like Archie did. And I don't think that's how this team is. So it's going to be unique to figure out how he is.
Starting point is 00:25:19 Who's up next? Wilson. Wilson. Go ahead, Wilson. He almost plays a little bit like Malik Monk. He can't shoot like him. Malik Monk was a great shooter and a better player. Well, Dillingham had that handle, though.
Starting point is 00:25:32 I mean, Dillingham could just eat you alive. We haven't seen that yet from Alex. But go ahead. Wilson. Wilson. Wilson. Wilson. No, Wilson.
Starting point is 00:25:46 859-280, 2287. By the way, we had Milan and Malacow on the show today. I love those two guys. You know, I was thinking after it was over, those two guys and the way they connect with Drew and Ryan. and I, reminds me of what it used to be like with the players when we kind of knew them. Those are, I really like those two guys from a personality standpoint, not just as a player. I think fans, they already love Malachi.
Starting point is 00:26:13 I think fans are going to be like that with Milan too. But go ahead. Todd is next. Todd, go ahead, Todd. Yeah, man, I realize it's just the second game of the year. But I thought their defense against them, when they would like drive to the basket. it seemed like Abe was getting easy shots off. Our big guys, you know, you would think we would block them,
Starting point is 00:26:38 but it wasn't happening. And one more thing I want to make mention of is Milan, and if he wants to set the record for three-point shots, he's going to have to shoot more. He will have to shoot more. I don't think he shot but one time the second half. Yeah, he only took four threes and he made two. So yes, I think he will have to shoot more, but you know what?
Starting point is 00:27:06 I mean, I want him to shoot more because when he takes it, I feel like it's going in. But I think he also, like I said, plays an important role even when he doesn't shoot, which is his defender does not leave him. Now, if we can, if we're stagnant on offense, Pope's probably going to have to figure out a way to get him shots, which if you go back and if you watch out, Iowa State, that's what they did. They kind of would run their offense to get him a shot. We're probably going to have to do that some, but I appreciate the call.
Starting point is 00:27:36 Defensively, we are not good defensively on the perimeter. Mason Williams is actually our best defender. Alex Wilkins can't guard Billy. But that length, that's where the length comes into play. And I know they made a couple running bank shots, but I got to be honest with you, if teams want to try to make a 10-foot or 8-foot, foot running bank shot over Malachi, you know, if they hit those, you shake their hand. They hit a few of them tonight, but they missed a bunch of them.
Starting point is 00:28:07 And if we had just gotten on the offensive glass, I think it would even have been a different result. So I'm okay with the running floater off the glass over a seven-footer shot. I don't know how many times you can expect teams to consistently make that. Who's next? Mitch. Mitch, go ahead, Mitch. you know
Starting point is 00:28:25 I must have bad hearing because I never hear that whistle so don't listen to them Matt I don't think it's fair Billy Billy pays off these people to say that stuff I don't have to know you know
Starting point is 00:28:35 I bet you his camel had a nose whistle but I work in software industry and usually the third run is good and this is Mark's third team and I
Starting point is 00:28:48 other than them not dunk in the ball with the seven footers not dunk in the ball which is just my thing I think they're going to be okay. They just look okay. And that's all I got. I just am not worried about it.
Starting point is 00:29:00 I think we're going to play well and they're just going to have some ups and downs all year. Yeah. Well, I want them to be better than okay. I mean, we've been okay the last two years. Okay.
Starting point is 00:29:09 How about okay is I got a hole in one and I thought it was okay because I didn't realize it until I got up there. But then I was really happy. You're not like you're not easily excitable is what you're saying. Oh, you got to do a lot to get me, Matt. Okay. All right.
Starting point is 00:29:23 Well, hopefully this team, we'll do it. I appreciate the call. They, we don't, our bigs don't like to dunk. Brandon Garrison's like the only big we've had that really like to dunk.
Starting point is 00:29:32 But, um, I think Malachi, the good, one thing I'm excited about. Cal one time said, and I heard him say in a practice, to be good,
Starting point is 00:29:46 you got to have two studs. To be great, you got to have three. Um, and over the years, if you, look at his teams that his teams that were the best you had like wall cousins and then patterson and bledso you almost had like four that year and then you had davis terence jones
Starting point is 00:30:06 and then in college i think to ron lamb michael kid gilchrist right fox monk bam you know etc i think they got three i mean i think malachi milan and wilkins can be three uh I think Wilkins getting to be the third will be a key part of this year. You know what I mean, Billy? Like, I think I know what I'm going to get from Malachi and Milan. Mm-hmm. I think if Wilkins can be a star, that's how you get to three. And we'll see if he does.
Starting point is 00:30:41 I hope he does. And if he does, I think that'll be the difference. Is Cam have a role on this team, you think? Cam's not going to be star, though. I mean, he can be good. Mason Williams is going to be really good. I mean, there's a lot of guys who can be good. But, like, think of last year's team.
Starting point is 00:30:53 All right, so who were our stars? O'Rey was a star. Aberdeen at the second half of the year kind of was a star. But we really never had a third. Right. And at times we didn't even have a second. And so we just were okay. I think the question will be,
Starting point is 00:31:16 because I think Malachi and Milan will be like that all you, at least I hope. Who's next? Hank. Hank. Go ahead, Hank. Hey, this is Hank from Cresswood. I'm coming up in the game tonight,
Starting point is 00:31:29 and I'm just in here wondering, looking at Zimdalo's dark way, I'm just wondering how long it's going to take Mason Williams to get into the starting lineup. Well, first of all, nice to hear from you, Hank. I don't think you change the starting lineup, at least until after the Kansas game. You got to give.
Starting point is 00:31:47 You don't want to lose, I mean, again, Zoom's going to have to play. Even if he doesn't start, he's going to have to play. And so you cannot have him, like, lose his confidence. So you got another exhibition game, and then we play like Manhattan. And who's next after that, Billy? Is it like James Madison maybe? I'd have to check.
Starting point is 00:32:08 Well, you've got two games before Kansas. Yes, Manhattan and James Madison. James Madison sometimes is okay. I don't know what they're like this year. But you got those three games. And then if it ain't happening at that point, then maybe you may be. a move but I don't think you make a move yet because you're going to have to get that kid good and listening to Hank I meant to talk about this this morning on the show did you see on
Starting point is 00:32:34 Facebook the two kids who have a post game show have you seen those no no I haven't they have their own post kids there's like two kids I saw them on Facebook and I meant to write down their name because I wanted to give them a shout out and they did a post game show for the back for for for football. And I loved it. I wrote them a comment and they didn't respond, but that's okay. It might be past their bedtime.
Starting point is 00:33:01 But they set down. They have a nicer, I'll be honest with you, their set is better lit than my ESPN. No. It is. I'm not kidding you. At least, I mean,
Starting point is 00:33:14 I only had Mario. They look like they had professionals helping. Well, I need to call into their postgame show. That's true. And they should hang up on you because it's a no adults post-game show. Yeah. Maybe somebody text me the name, if you find it, on the text machine,
Starting point is 00:33:29 because I'd like to give those kids a shout-out. It was very cute. And maybe sometime I'll let them come in and host a segment. They can't be worse than Billy. All right, who's next? Dave is next. Dave, go ahead, Dave. Hey, I was a lot more encouraged tonight than after the game than I was after the first
Starting point is 00:33:51 exhibition. One of the stats I like the track is plus minus and everything they're saying about Well, what were the plus minuses? I don't think I've seen it. What were the plus minuses for it? We had five players that had a positive plus minus. Can I guess? Can I guess?
Starting point is 00:34:14 I had that. Okay, yeah, read them to me real quick, Billy. Yeah, so Zoom was minus seven. Alex was 16. NJI was 16 Milan was 20 leading the team Moreno was 15
Starting point is 00:34:27 Hawthorne was minus 7 Mason was 11 and Kepenang was minus 4 and McBride was minus 5 Well I mean it makes perfect sense But again I want to I will say I don't think Pope does those guys
Starting point is 00:34:41 favors by playing them all together I wish you know Like I've kind of gotten really into hockey And they don't owe They don't put your three best players on the first line together. You like maybe have two on one and two on the other because you can't just, you can't leave
Starting point is 00:34:58 people just out to dry. When you play all those guys together, I feel like they do. But go ahead, man, my friend. Yeah, I think what everybody's saying about Williams is good, but I was really encouraged by the play of injoy tonight. I agree. I agree. I thought he played really well, especially in the first half.
Starting point is 00:35:17 I appreciate the call. I really, he's been, I think, I think. I think I thought McBride, you know, when they got him, was going to be the guy at that position. But Injai's been great. He may end up being a huge get. But, you know, in the French League, they don't tell you not to shoot, Billy. They say, they say shoot a lot.
Starting point is 00:35:41 And he did it. 859-280, 2287. We will take a break and be right back. This is Cats, by the way, Our pregame shows tomorrow at 3.30 for Vandy. Am I starting to get, I'm starting to get a little nervous about that. No, no, not this year. I am.
Starting point is 00:35:59 I just, I can't help it. I think it's just my, I think it's just my nature. Breakdown. It's called Bluegrass Breakdown are the kids. And their names are Zeke and Colt. So if you're out there, Zeke and Colt, you feel free to call. 859-28027. We'll take a break, be right back.
Starting point is 00:36:19 Local Toyota dealers. KSR post game. Welcome back. It is the local toy dealers KSR post game show. People trying to give comparisons for Wilkins. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:36:31 I'm going to go poor man's Monk, but I want to be clear. I'm not suggesting they're anywhere close to the same. Monk was an amazing shooter and I don't think Wilkins is an amazing shooter.
Starting point is 00:36:44 But I think they play the game somewhat similarly. Like I have a couple people writing Brandon Knight no Brandon and I was in control and he also was like really smart as a player Dillingham I mean I get why people say that
Starting point is 00:37:01 but I don't totally go with that one person writes Keaton Wagler's ranked 150th out of high school and became the ninth pick in the draft after one year at Illinois that's true no he was you know usually when you look at the top 10 picks of one and done guys they're almost always top 50 players Keaton Wagler was a difference. I'm not, I don't think Mason Williams is that good,
Starting point is 00:37:23 but listen, Mason Williams has been really good in these first two games. So Preston Sparland, by the way, is the coach at James Madison, former. Oh, shout out. UK manager slash part-time coach and then coach at Moorhead. You have a Johnny Rocker play. I do.
Starting point is 00:37:43 Yes, the Johnny Rocker moneymaker of the game is back. Injured, get small town compassion with big city results. when you call the rocker at 270321, 4429, or go to John A. Elderlaw.com. And we've been talking about them all night. Tonight, it's Mason Williams off the bench, 27 minutes, 14 points, 5 of 8 shooting, 2 for 4 from 3, two rebounds and zero turnovers. Here's a stat for you, Matt. Kentucky had four turnovers in the first five minutes of the game,
Starting point is 00:38:09 seven in the first nine, and then only two in the final 31 minutes of the game for 11 total. Yeah, that's two and 31 minutes is pretty great. I think they only had two live ball turnovers in like the last 35 minutes, which is pretty amazing for a team that turned it over 19 times the time before. Well, another person writes, Matt Zumdialo was a turnover machine at Washington. I really am worried about him this year. I'm not going to act like there haven't been signs of concern,
Starting point is 00:38:49 not just here, but in the preseason leading up to it. But I'm not giving up on the kid. Part of it because we have to play. You know, he has got to play. There is no one else for better or worse. And I think the roster makeup of this team can be criticized in terms of how things were distributed. But regardless, he's going to have to play.
Starting point is 00:39:15 There's not going to be a world where you can't play Zoom Diallo. I mean, unless Trent Noah and Cam Williams, when they get healthy, he can play the two. Somebody's going to have to play. So we've got to build up his confidence because just telling him he's bad is not going to do any good because he's got to play. And it's only been two games. So let's, I'm holding out judgment. Who's next? Fred.
Starting point is 00:39:41 Fred. Go ahead, Fred. Hey Matt, how are you doing? What's going on? We're going to go. Will Stone is 6 and 1. That's true. The football team, and he's going to be 7-1 this Saturday.
Starting point is 00:39:56 I understand. We have a rule. We have a rule. Football post-game shows, we only talk about football. Basketball post-game shows, we only talk about basketball. It's only fair because otherwise, when one sports is good and the other one's bad, you just don't want to have. So, I mean, we can say we're going to win tomorrow.
Starting point is 00:40:11 I'm looking forward to tomorrow. but we got two hours on the pregame show tomorrow to talk for them. Mark Pope is going to do it. I'm telling you guys, you better just look out. Everybody's doubting him. He's going to freaking do it. 31 games this year. 31 games this year.
Starting point is 00:40:29 What do you think the record is? 25 and 6. 25 and 6. 25 and 6. I'd be a really good record. I mean, that's probably a one or two seed. I hope you're right. Just he,
Starting point is 00:40:49 if anybody's listening out there right now, he's going to do it. Like, I know the last two years has not been, the first year was, and you're awesome. The second year was, eh, third year,
Starting point is 00:41:05 he's going to do it. I believe in Mark Pope, and I believe in all of, just I believe in all of it. All right. Appreciate the call. 25 and 6. Listen,
Starting point is 00:41:14 if he's 25 and 6, that'll be a heck of an accomplishment. I was looking during the game they put up the graphic of the preseason rankings in the SEC. And it occurred to me looking at it, the top eight in the SEC, and they got us seven. The top eight's pretty good. It's a really good top eight. And I think the top three might be really, really good. But I do think like nine through 16 is not as good as it's been the last few years.
Starting point is 00:41:46 I think 9 through 16 is probably a step below 9 through 16 the last three years. Because really, I think the strength of the conference the last few years has been how good the bad teams are. And I'm not sure there is good this year. So that's something to watch. You might be able to bank more wins this year than you could have been to pass because I think the middle of the league is maybe not quite as strong. as it's been in the past. Who's next?
Starting point is 00:42:17 We're going to try Wilson again. Wilson. Go ahead, Wilson. 859, 2807. Hey, Matt. I'm really glad of how tonight went just like a collective side relief for the fan base.
Starting point is 00:42:30 I didn't really like the way the vibes are going. Yeah, me either. The crowd, it was a little light, actually, but once we went on that run, it really started to pop. So I was glad for that. But I have one major, major complaint, which is they got rid of the Coke Zero
Starting point is 00:42:45 at the RupFound. What are we doing, Jay, Batch? Come on, man. There's no more Coke zero? Yeah, the upper, uh, in the 200 section, the stand there,
Starting point is 00:42:56 they only had Diet Coke as a, as a zero sugar option. Okay. All right. Well, I will pass on your concern because I do, I appreciate the call. I've,
Starting point is 00:43:06 I've become Billy. I've, I've kind of switched in the sense that unless I'm at McDonald's, I'm Coke zero over Diet Coke. Wow. Donald's Diet Coke, though, still trumps everything. But if I go to another restaurant and both are there, I'm generally ordering the zero.
Starting point is 00:43:27 Is this a new thing or like it's just been over the years? It's a slight. I think Coke zero is a better option. I think it's not as bad for you. I mean, neither of them are great. But it's not as bad for you. But outside of McDonald's, I actually think it generally tastes better too.
Starting point is 00:43:44 Well, both options better than the large vanilla latte Ryan gets every morning. That's so, it's so gross. Like when you stand next to it. He tries to say it's 270 calories. That's just ridiculous. Who's next? Clark. By the way, Middlesboro beat Harrison County 37 to 8 tonight in the battle of Matt Jones's hometowns.
Starting point is 00:44:07 So go Jackets. I think they're number two or three in class A. All right, go ahead. Clark. Clark, go ahead, Clark. Hey Matt, first time, long time. Who are? What's up? A couple things, rapid fire.
Starting point is 00:44:20 I'm going to lose service here on the bluegrass from seen him in person. Number one, Mason, Williams, and Usman are going to prove to be the steals of the offseason. Mason reminds me a lot of a young Zekeye Ziegler. Number two, I've really been encouraged by how the guards pressure on the perimeter. We have not seen that in the first couple Mark Pope years, and we've seen it the last two games. That's a huge change. Yeah, but they do pressure, but then they get the, they get beat. I mean, they get bad.
Starting point is 00:44:51 We give up a lot of straight line drives, but we do, we did create steals that way. So, yeah. We did. We did. Last thing, one thing in favor of Zoom, it's really coaching malpractice to have him on the floor when Milan is not. That's just a change that's got to be made. Well, I appreciate the call. I mean, he did, to be fair, he played with the starters as well.
Starting point is 00:45:14 And that didn't go great either. But I think, I mean, you heard, you heard when Billy read the plus minuses. The minuses, when we went to the reserves, it was a huge drop off. And I do wonder if when Cam comes back, Billy, do you think this is going to be in big games, a seven-man rotation team?
Starting point is 00:45:34 Mm. With like Frank taking spot minutes when Malachi goes out. You know, I'm not, I think Justin McGride probably ends up playing, but I still don't know what he is. I have not seen him yet what his role is going to be. Because when he's out there,
Starting point is 00:45:52 it feels like he's just standing around. Well, Pope has gone to the bench early these first two years, right? So, I mean, if it's going to repeat itself, it would be it. He has, but then, like, if you think of his first year, by the end, he was only playing six or seven guys.
Starting point is 00:46:09 Yeah. Last year he kept playing 10 all the way through. I don't know. I mean, I did think one of the strengths of this year's team would be depth, but you've had injuries. I don't know. I think they expected Morton to play, and I don't know what's going to happen with that.
Starting point is 00:46:24 And Cam and Noah can be in the rotate. I just, I don't know what Justin McBride is yet. Hopefully that'll show itself over the next few games. Who's next? Tony. Tony. Go ahead, Tony. What's up, Matt?
Starting point is 00:46:37 First time, long time. Who I? I just wanted to, I never. got the guy's name. I was at the game tonight and there's a there's a guy that came up and asked if we wanted to upgrade our seats down to the lower level. Yeah, they're doing that some now. I just wanted to give him a shout out. Yeah. I wanted to give him a shout out and say thanks. And I don't know if you remember, but the last time I sat lower level for a, for a Kentucky game was the 2012 final four before Louisville. Now let me ask you a question. How would I have remembered that?
Starting point is 00:47:12 Because you posted a picture of me, you said, But I don't know who you are. Yeah, because you just randomly took a picture of the students before we walked in. You posted the picture. You said, a Kentucky fan leads Louisville into the final four. Well, that was me. All right, well, good.
Starting point is 00:47:32 So you were there when we beat Louisville in the final four and then there tonight? I was in the first person in line. I snuck in the night before and I slept in the parking garage. That's how I got first in line. You know what? Now I vaguely do remember that, actually. Yes.
Starting point is 00:47:48 Yep. Yeah. I wouldn't have recognized your voice, but I do remember that. Me and my buddies were at Bourbon Street, and I, I just decided I'm not going to the hotel. I'm here on a business trip. So I went, I went straight to this. I walked to the Superdome from Bourbon Street. There was an open gate, and I went and I slept where it looked like the lines would start.
Starting point is 00:48:12 I woke up a couple hours later and there were people behind me. All right. Well, I appreciate the call. There's a lot of good stories from that Final Four of people, including big UK people, sleeping in interesting places before the game. One person says, Matt, during the broadcast, Ravi made references to Noah and Williams' return, but never said anything about Morton. What do you have a thought on that?
Starting point is 00:48:41 Yeah. I think they're going to know next week whether or not he's going to play this year. I don't have any knowledge, but in my mind, I'm taking the view that he's not going to play, and I hope they get news next week that says he will. But I don't,
Starting point is 00:49:00 but I want to be very clear. I don't know. One person says Wilkins is Emmanuel quickly. No. Reed Shepherd, no. No. Somebody says B.J. Boston. No. Yeah. No of those guys remind me of him.
Starting point is 00:49:19 Maybe, I mean, there may not be a comparison. Let's do one more and we'll take a break. Who's next? Bluegrass. Bluegrass. Go ahead. What's going on, fellas? It's not very lonely on this Mason soapbox that I'm screaming. I know everybody loves him. He's a fan favorite. Hey, but I tell you what, you're right, though. We do need all three guards.
Starting point is 00:49:40 but I do think Mason does play better with Zoom and Zoom and vice versa. Like, he has, Mason has to be in there with both of them. And what I like about it, Matt, is Mason and Milan's got one turnover in two games. You can't speed, and I thought Milan, I thought we were just getting him for a shooting, but he plays at his own pace. Yes, he does. He does play at his own pace. You can't speed them up.
Starting point is 00:50:03 You can't speed them up. And they're both physical. So I think, and I do think we're going to have Zoom on the top of that, to stop the point guards from just driving straight lines. Like that's ridiculous, but we're going to have to have Zoom. You're absolutely correct. And we better not get down on him.
Starting point is 00:50:20 Because two guards just don't make it very far. There's not going to work. You're exactly right. I had a coach tell me, or somebody, one of the coaches on the team tell me about Alex Wilkins. He goes, he might be the worst defender I've seen
Starting point is 00:50:32 that's as good an offensive player as he is. And I think we're going to see that. And that's partially why you're going to have to have Zoom as well, because there might be games where, like, we can't stop the guards and we can't have Alex. You know, there's going to be those situations. We just have to have him. So that's why I hope people stay positive. I appreciate the call.
Starting point is 00:50:50 859-280, 2287. We will do one more segment. Tomorrow, Kentucky and Vandy is going to be a big one. My guy, Noah, on the play-by-play, kept saying the Breeders Cup was this weekend. You might want to tell him if he goes out there tomorrow for the Breeders' Cup, Billy. The horses will not be there. Well, there'll be horses there, but they won't be the Breeders' Cup horses. That's right.
Starting point is 00:51:10 That's next week. A week early, yeah. Yeah. We'll take a break and be right back. It's the local toy dealers, KSR post-game. Welcome back. Local toy dealers, KSR post-game show, final segment. Tim tells me that Mason Williams played in the Puma AAU circuit, not Nike or Adidas,
Starting point is 00:51:28 and that's why he's rank lower. Is that AI? There's not a Puma AAU circuit, isn't it? It sounds fake, doesn't it? But there's a ton of those leagues, so maybe so. Let me see. I mean, maybe. No, there is.
Starting point is 00:51:43 There's a Puma AAU circuit. March through July. The Puma Pro 16 circuit. So I guess he played in that and maybe didn't, was it playing against the best players? So there you go. I just learned something new. Puma has an AAU circuit? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:52:04 I'm going to play in the Skechers AAU circuit. Sorry, son. I did not know. the Nike. Well, I mean, maybe his dad may have been a Puma athlete when he played. That might be what it was. I'm not sure. 859-280, 2287.
Starting point is 00:52:23 One person writes, Matt, I want Zoom to be good. He has the perfect bill to be a guard. And you can tell he's got skill. I feel like he's overthinking things sometimes. Yeah, I mean, you got to remember he was on a team last year where he basically got to have the ball, control everything. And it is very hard for a guy. guy like that to then come to a place where it's not like that. Alex Wilkins was the same way. Alex Wilkins seems to have adjusted a little bit better than that. And hopefully Zoom will too,
Starting point is 00:52:50 because he's not going to be like that here. I mean, you got too many good players. So I did like more reason I love Alex Wilkins. Did you see what he did with the guy from the Courier Journal tonight? Yeah, that's good. So C.L. Brown writes for the Louisville Courier Journal. And he, you know, when you ask questions you, they like at the beginning of the year for you to say your name where you're from so the players get to know you. And he said, C.L. Brown, Louisville Courier Journal, and Alex Wilkins looked at him and said, Louisville, like he was skeptical. It's my guy. Good job. If you've only been here a few games and you already hate Louisville, then you're my kind of guy. Who's next? Our guys Colton and Zeke have called him. Oh, is this Colton and Zeke from
Starting point is 00:53:36 the bluegrass breakdown? Yes, sir. It is. So tell me, first of all, where, how old are you two? I just turned 11 in August. And Colton, how are you? I'm Colt and I turn 12 in February. All right, so I call you, you're, I call you Colt.
Starting point is 00:54:03 Yes. Okay. Now, where are you guys located? Where does the bluegrass breakdown come from? uh no Georgetown Kentucky Georgetown now how often do you all go on I saw you after the LSU game like every every week and sometimes occasionally like every
Starting point is 00:54:24 midweek and after every game we're going to start doing basketball games well wait a minute you can't hang on just a second you can't compete against me you can't go on like when I go on I need to still have a show we're trying to get up there though well you it sounds like you're going to do I'll tell you what, you know, there's like an hour between when the game ends and when I come on. That can be your time, okay? Okay. Okay.
Starting point is 00:54:50 All right. Yeah, I will take that such a few time. Okay. So how can people find the bluegrass breakdown? They can come to Facebook. They're struck the bluegrass breakdown and look for the logo that has a blue stripe in the middle. It says Col and Z. Oh, you put your names in the logo.
Starting point is 00:55:10 That's good marketing. Yeah. we'll have a live on like 15 minutes after every game. 15 minutes after every game. Except right now because it's late and I had a basketball game. Yeah. Oh, I'm looking. You didn't have a.
Starting point is 00:55:27 Yeah. So that's pretty light. Are your parents going to be good with it? Yeah. Yeah, we're good. You know, I was just asleep in my bed and my mom came to me. And she's like, Oh, they came and woke you up.
Starting point is 00:55:42 I'm trying to get you all on the show. Okay. Well, I'm sorry. I'm sorry they woke you up. Well, listen, I like it. I'm looking at. This is awesome. This is awesome.
Starting point is 00:55:51 I'm looking at your set right now. It looks awesome. I may have to get whoever designed yours to come design mine for ESPA because it looks better than mine. And my only piece of advice is you sometimes can be a little hard to hear. So make sure you talk in the microphone, okay? Okay. Yes, sir.
Starting point is 00:56:09 Thank you. Okay. You're welcome. Zeke and Colt. Appreciate to call. They're going to take your job, Billy. Just wait till they, just wait till they get out of college. Yeah, first postgame show of the year for basketball. I like, they would have done the postgame show, but it was past their bedtime, Billy. What are you supposed to do? What are they going to do when we play Kansas at 930 in the champions class? One of their reels has 44,000 views. That's the one I saw. It was everywhere. I'll drop him a follow.
Starting point is 00:56:42 Look at that. Here, I'm going to do it too. Follow. There you go. They have 535 followers on Facebook. You folks, go and add them. Let's get them up there for Zeke and Colt. All right. Let's do five more and we'll call tonight. Who's next? Mack. Mack. Go ahead, Mac. Hey, Matt. First time, a long time. Who I? Hey, listen, I'm a long time Texas tech fan of all things and lived in Kentucky for 20 years. Okay. And, you know, I saw tonight as, you know, we play good defense. We don't score a lot of points. We're missing some people. So how good? I know you're missing Topping.
Starting point is 00:57:21 How good is the other guy you were missing? I know you're missing one more guy. Yeah, and he's good. And he's good. But, I mean, Toppin is the leader that we're missing. You know, and we missed our point guard from last year. I mean, I think he went to, what, Charlotte? Yes, he did.
Starting point is 00:57:36 And, you know, he was amazing. But, you know, for both teams, I think it's, you know, I think Elite 8. I mean, if you look at it, we play great defense. That's our name of our thing. We shoot threes. We play great defense. But look at the defense that Kentucky played. You know, I mean, they got out rebounded by a smaller team.
Starting point is 00:57:58 That's my concern. And I've lived here, and I'm a, my wife is a big blue fan forever. And my whole family is that live here in E-town. Well, it was like, I think they had six more rebounds. I feel like, and I like Malachi a lot. I feel like he had a little stretch where he let like five offensive rebounds go. Yeah, we don't have the, we don't have the height that we put out. No, you do.
Starting point is 00:58:22 You know what I mean? Yeah. But you all were cold. You all were cold from three. I don't think you're going to shoot that badly most of the time. We were at a Halloween party. I came as a Texas tech fan. My wife was UK decked out hot as heck.
Starting point is 00:58:36 I'm so proud. I'm proud of both teams. but man, I'm telling you. I mean, I hear a lot of downplay. I watched the first game. And yeah, there's some disappointment. They won by 20. And I watched this game.
Starting point is 00:58:49 And our coach is about elite defense. And y'all frustrated them. Well, good. You know, and I'm a UK fan too. Don't give me wrong. I wear my big blue on game day. I'll switch uniforms between games. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:59:02 Well, I appreciate you calling. And he's all right. It's okay to switch uniforms. I do like that you said you threw in that your wife was hot. That's a smart thing to do at 11, 15 at night. I appreciate the call. Billy, I just told Billy, you and I are going to do an interrupted podcast this week about the election. I've decided.
Starting point is 00:59:25 I'm sitting here looking at, I've seen so many. The thing is, I'm watching NBA and NHL games from all over the country. So I get to see the political ads from all over the country. There are some terrible ads out there. And I feel like I've memorized all the people running. But I do think Ryan's Zach Dimbo impersonation. I was going to say, can he be a guest appearance just to give his impersonation? He does.
Starting point is 00:59:52 He does sound like you. Who's next? J.B. J.B. Go ahead, J.B. Hey, counselor. I went to the game tonight, really enjoyed it. But my biggest takeaway, and I think people on the text machine will agree,
Starting point is 01:00:04 the buttered pretzels at Rupp are 10 times better than what's, they serve at Kroger Field. UK athletics, you got to get the pretzel vendor at the basketball games over to the football games. That's all I got. Go Cats beat Vandy. Appreciate the call. The only complaint I've heard about football since that first week when it was so hot
Starting point is 01:00:21 and they ran out of water and sunscreen. The only complaint I've heard about atmosphere is people don't like, they feel like the food has taken a step back, Billy. And I don't know why that is. I think, I don't know if they change vendors or whatever, but I do hear people are sort of unhappy with the food. But the thing is if you win, nobody cares, right? They don't think they go, well, fine.
Starting point is 01:00:41 It's also cheaper too, right? It is cheaper, which is maybe why I went down. Maybe that's what happened. Three more. Who's next? Alex. Alex? Alex.
Starting point is 01:00:50 Alex. Yes, go ahead. Hey, game today. It was an awesome time. But one thing I noticed is it seemed like they got into the paint a lot and just hit like a floater over our big guys. And when we would close out on them, we would rush them. and like we couldn't like stay in front of him. And it seemed like they just got past us really easy.
Starting point is 01:01:22 Well, they did get past us. They did get past us very easy. Yeah, I feel like we should work on maybe containing them more. And by the UK tomorrow. So it should be a fun weekend. Appreciate the call. This is Billy's favorite segment. I'm going to start screening these calls.
Starting point is 01:01:43 I actually think the kid made a good point, though. I will say this. I think they hit four. five tough runners over over our bigs. I think I can think of one with Frank on the guy, one with Injai, one with Malachi, one over Milan. I'm picturing like four different plays. Those are tough shots and they hit them. And I think if you ask Mark Pope, he'd be fine with giving those shots, a contested running seven-footer floater over a big. I think if you may, you give them that shot, especially a team like Texas Tech.
Starting point is 01:02:18 that normally shoots a three well. I bet Mark was fine with those shots. Two more. Who's next? Chase. Chase, go ahead, Chase. Hey guys. How are you all doing tonight?
Starting point is 01:02:28 I'm all right. What's up, Chase? I was just wondering, I noticed during the game tonight what parts I did get the catch of it. Do you think our defensive lengths will cause problems versus Kansas and surprise a little bit? No. Well, let's not going to surprise them because we'll be on tape. But I do think it will, that will be a strong point for us. Kansas is good, though, too.
Starting point is 01:02:54 I mean, Kansas is good. I know they lost to Louisville, but I think Louisville's really good. And Kansas still doesn't have, you know, they're getting Trey Kaufman-Rinn. He wasn't even playing the other night. So when you add him, I think they're going to be really, really good. Let's do one more, Billy. Who is it? It is Eric.
Starting point is 01:03:10 Eric, go ahead, Eric. Hey, this is actually Jamie. Eric got through for me. Okay. I just want to say that I want to give a huge shout out to Alex Wilkins, and I want to tell you guys a little story about him. So we were at the fan jam, and he 1V1, my son, Darius. And he was actually like, oh, oh, shit, I got to guard this kid.
Starting point is 01:03:39 Okay, can't cuss. Can't cuss. Oh, I'm sorry. I'm sorry. But he was like, of all the people on this show, I didn't think you were going to be the one that dropped the cuss word at 11, 24. at night. I'm sorry.
Starting point is 01:03:54 Okay, we got it. Maybe it's because, you know, the Evan Williams and the cookie crisp, I don't know, but. Evan Williams and cookie crisp, okay. It's Friday night. Go for it.
Starting point is 01:04:05 It's Friday night. You got to go for it, right? But anyway, I just want you guys to know what a good guy, Alex Wilkins is. He won,
Starting point is 01:04:12 he won, my son, and there was another kid waiting to play. And there was a guy there and he was like, come on, Alex, we got to go, you got to go.
Starting point is 01:04:21 And Alex was like, I got time for one more. And he was like, you've got to go. And he was like, I'm here for the kids. Well, that's awesome. And I just thought that was great. And he really became one of my favorite players for that. But I thought he was a huge spark tonight. Great on defense.
Starting point is 01:04:39 Huge spark. And I love him. Number 10, he wears number 10. My son Darius wears number 10. Well, good. All right. Well, I appreciate the call. and I do think this team has got a lot of good guys,
Starting point is 01:04:53 and I'm looking forward to getting to watch them more. All right, so tomorrow, 3.30, we'll be at walk-ons. You can come by before the game. Remember that we have the bus that will go to the game. Whether it's supposed to be good, should be a big night, massive game for Kentucky, a chance to get in the top 10 and really have a shot to play for the playoff.
