Starting point is 00:00:00 Another podcast from some SNL late-night comedy guy, not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and Friends. Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier. This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidel, help an a cappella band with their between songs banter. Where does your group perform? We do some retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter.
Starting point is 00:00:23 Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel and Friends on the I-Heart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Last night, a blown call changed a game. This morning, the internet lost its mind, and nobody's telling you exactly what happened. That's where SportsSlice comes in. I'm Timbo, and every episode, we're cutting through the noise, breaking down the biggest moments in sports and giving you the real story behind the headline. And we're going straight to the source, the athletes themselves, their locker room stories, their reactions in the moment, and the stuff nobody gets to hear. Listen to Sports Slice on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast.
Starting point is 00:01:00 And for more, follow Timbo Slica Life 12 in the TikTok podcast network on TikTok. Hey, what's good, y'all? You're listening to Learn the Hardway with your favorite therapist and host Kear Games. This space is about black men's experiences, having honest conversations that it's really not safe to have anywhere, but you're having them with a licensed professional who knows what he's doing. How many men carry a suit or armor? It signals to the world that you not to be played with. And just because you have the capability that does not mean that you need to.
Starting point is 00:01:30 Listen to learn the hard way on the AHA radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal but encouraged. It's the enhanced games. Some call it grotesque. Others say it's unleashing human potential. Either way, the podcast's superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year. Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds. I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth.
Starting point is 00:02:00 Listen to Superhuman on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Welcome, everyone. It is the local Toyota Dealers, KSR postgame show. The Cats get their first NCAA tournament first round win. Only their second NCAA tournament win since 2019 with a big victory this evening against Troy to move to the second round of the tournament, 7,59. 59. We are here in Milwaukee, myself and Ryan Lemon, getting ready for the next hour to be with you to celebrate a number of important moments for Kentucky. First of all, they win, go to the second round. Two, it is Mark Pope's first ever win in the NCAA tournament. And he celebrated exactly like he should have, which was with joy and happiness, Ryan Lemon, and it was good to see.
Starting point is 00:02:51 Well, you said he thought he kind of choked up even a little bit when he was talking about it. Big night for him to get his first coaching win in the NCAA tournament at his alma mater, where it means so much to this fan base. I can see why he got a little choked up tonight. Yes, he should have. It was a really neat victory, and the cats get a win. I have to tell you, we're sitting here. Ryan set us up right next to the cornhole table.
Starting point is 00:03:11 Yep. And there's a man who's walked over here. He is playing a game of cornhole by himself. There's no one else here. Okay, now he's walking away. And he was doing play-by-play. He was doing play-by-play of his own cornhole throws. He is now, that's great.
Starting point is 00:03:25 He came. He threw both sets of bags, narrated it, and then just walked away. You got to love that confidence. All right. So let's talk about the game, but then where we are after that. Cats started out. It actually went, if I do say so myself, exactly like I said it would on the show. Stayed close at the beginning.
Starting point is 00:03:44 Yep. Got it to eight at halftime. We kept the lead kind of extend it back, extend it back, ended up winning by 20. Really, it was a game, Ryan, that I think were two. big runs. I mean, ultimately, there were two big runs. We made a huge run at the end of the first half, went from 25, 24 to an eight-point lead, and then in the second half, it was basically eight to ten-point lead, and we extended it to 20 in about a minute and a half run. Those were really the two, that's two keys of the game. And I don't know if draft kings had it, that that
Starting point is 00:04:13 room is going to be sparked by Colin Chandler and Brandon Garrison. They had like every point in that one run midway through the second half, Chandler comes off just bombing, bombing. You can tell he hit that first one, he couldn't wait to shoot the second one. Yes, and Otago Owe, all three guys, by the way, who will be back next year? We'll be back. Yeah, I mean, I noticed when they were on the podium, the three guys that were up there are all guys that hopefully, and I don't see any reason why they wouldn't, would be back next year,
Starting point is 00:04:42 which would be very, very exciting. So, you know, I thought Troy played really great defense, and I actually thought Kentucky played really good defense back, offensively missed a lot of layups. At one point, it was nine for 17 for the line. I think they finished maybe eight for 19. A lot of layups they missed. I don't know how many two-footers that poor Amari just could not get to go down.
Starting point is 00:05:07 Why don't he just dunk it? You're close, you're bigger and strong in those guys. Just throw it down, son, because he missed a bunch of two-footers. He missed a bunch. Now, we found out after the game that he had a back injury. Didn't know that until I heard Pope say that. Apparently, he heard his back in practice yesterday. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:05:22 So by hurting his back in practice yesterday, it clearly had an impact that might explain why he didn't dunk it as much. I think so. You know, he had the one where he went coast to coast and threw it down. That was a great play. That was a great play. But he just didn't seem himself, and maybe that's why. Maybe the back was bothering him a little bit. But I heard Coach Pope say in the post game, he came out of the game okay.
Starting point is 00:05:42 I guess that means they felt like it didn't get any worse. By the way, if you hear the back, he came back to narrate his own game. Play-by-play. And he's brought other people. So he may be here a while, I think. So you may just get that sound in the background. That's the way it's going to be. He's clearly an animated fellow, wouldn't you say?
Starting point is 00:05:58 And I have yet to see him actually throw the cornhole. He does a lot of talking. Now, Colin Chandler. Well, first of all, Oway's the key to the game. I mean, O'A played awesome. I think he was 8 for 13 from the field, scored when we needed it. Whenever there was a time that we weren't getting a bucket,
Starting point is 00:06:16 he was the one that would get it. You're right. When they needed a bucket, O'A went and got the bucket. He carried him a lot in the first half. Him and Andrew Carr kind of carried him in the first half. Second half, like I said, the run was Chandler and Althe, Brandon Garrison, who he had another three. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:06:31 Although when he took the two in the first half, I was like, all right, man, it's all right. He settled down. He's confident. He kept firing him, Matt. And then Colin Chandler. I mean, look, I sort of wondered why he didn't get the Travis Perry minutes in the first half, right? I was like, why aren't they going with him? And then the second half, he just completely, kids get
Starting point is 00:06:47 more and more confident by the day. And I love the way he can play offense. You know, when he brings that to the table, we thought he was just going to be a defensive specialist, but now he's found the offensive game where he's earned more minutes. I do want to point out, too, Trent Noah's three kind of sparked us in the first half. That kind of led us on the run the first half. I actually think that was the biggest shot of the game. Do you?
Starting point is 00:07:08 Yeah. Yeah, it was 25, 24. We were stuck in a rut. It was like we're up two, we're up four, we're up two, we're up one. And then that was the three that got it to four, and then they came down, and then the next we got a block. I think Amari got a block, and then we came down and Carr hit a three. That little sequence.
Starting point is 00:07:26 Noah 3, Block, Car 3 gave us a lead that we didn't give up for the rest of the game. You're right. So I actually do think that little sequence was probably the most important thing. Yeah, that's a good argument because I knew it was a big shot when Trent hit it because we were kind of just going in slow motion. I mean, I told you this way after the game said it kind of got boring there a little time. But you said that's a good thing. Why don't you have wanted this game to be exciting? We want this game to be boring.
Starting point is 00:07:49 We wanted to win without. I mean, Troy plays a style that it's going to be very hard to get explosive runs against. Yeah. I mean, they basically were saying we're, they took the opposite approach I thought they would. I thought they'd be like, we're not letting you score in the paint, beat us from three. They took the opposite. We're not going to let you beat us from three. Try to score in the paint.
Starting point is 00:08:10 We just missed a ton of layups. We just missed. They did not double when they went to the bigs. Didn't double, and then our guys just couldn't finish. That's what I thought Amari is just going to eat all day. I just thought he's going to end up with like 30 points and 20 rebound where they started out. I actually respect the decision. And honestly, if we had not left their bigs open, they might not have scored.
Starting point is 00:08:29 Like their threes were their bigs and hitting shots, which we knew coming in the game. That's what they were the best at. Yeah, their best three-point shooter was their big guy. Their 6-8 guy that they had out there. So, I don't know, just to me, kind of a relief. You get that first win. Oh, I would definitely say it's a relief. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:08:45 I mean, this fan base was very nervous. Amen. I mean, I was very nervous. Yes, you were. I walked out of the arena as soon as it started. What are you laughing? I mean, it was the first game for Pope's career in the insane term. You could have stuck around for maybe the first TV timeout.
Starting point is 00:09:00 I watched it. Okay. You want to know where I watched it? Where'd you go? St. Kate's Art Hotel. Oh, you did. The Team Hotel. Walked to the Team Hotel.
Starting point is 00:09:08 Very nice hotel. And stood in the bar and watched it. There was like a main television that they had the Marquette was playing. Yes. So they had the Marquette game on and the people were into the Marquette game. There's a little side television. I could just go back there and stand and watch Kentucky and was left alone and watch the whole game there.
Starting point is 00:09:26 So even though you had a pass and the arena was right around the corner, you chose to watch it in a corner in this eclectic bar. It wasn't eclectic. It was the team hotel. I went to the official team hotel. They were not there. Yeah. Can I also point something out about the way these guys are playing cornhole?
Starting point is 00:09:42 They're not playing it the correct way. I don't think they know they're supposed to stand on the same side. You see what they're doing? He's throwing it that way, and he's throwing it that way, but they're supposed to be on the same side throwing against each other. Do you think they know that? Well, maybe these are Milwaukee rules that we're not pretty to. Do you think I should tell them? No.
Starting point is 00:10:01 No, I'd let him go. Yes. Yes, you should. Uh-oh, here we go. Sir, sir, can I borrow you just a second? I'm on the radio. I need you on here for just a second. No cussing, okay?
Starting point is 00:10:14 I don't know if you cuss, but you cannot cuss. All right, what is your name, sir? My name is Kevin. Kevin, where do you, are you from Milwaukee? Kevin is from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Okay, Kevin, you're playing cornhole here. I don't think you know the rules. I don't.
Starting point is 00:10:28 Okay, I'm going to explain to you. You and your friend going against each other, you're both supposed to be on the same side. Because then the point of cornhole is, he throws the orange bag, then you throw next, you try to knock his bag off. You see what I'm saying? You're not supposed to be on opposite sides.
Starting point is 00:10:42 You're supposed to both be on this side. Then you come here and you both go to this side. Then you come here and you both go to this side. then you come here and you both go to that side. So they've been cheating. No, they haven't been cheating. It's just you're not playing the, like, look how they're playing. See how they're all on the same side?
Starting point is 00:10:55 Yeah. You guys both want to be on the same side because you're playing against each other, right? Yeah. So you have to be on the same side and throw it to that side. Kevin, wait a minute, do you want to, this is a huge audience. Listen, do you want to tell them anything about you? Yeah. My name is Kevin Wedgworth.
Starting point is 00:11:11 I am a hard, motivated, independent. driven black man that is trying to put this ball inside of this hole it's a bag it's a bag it's a bag and all okay yeah this is my first time and I've never been to this third street market since it's been the grand and I'm gonna tell you firsthand this is amazing it is experience the the the the food the culture yeah is just too much we're from kentucky what do you know we're for we're from kentucky we're here kentucky blast back basketball's playing in town. Cool.
Starting point is 00:11:48 And they won tonight. So do you have a message for the people of Kentucky? Yes, I do. Okay. Marquette loss. I know. But Kentucky won? I can be damned of what's Kentucky.
Starting point is 00:11:58 All right. Do you know the rules now? You're ready to play? I definitely got the rules now, and I'm definitely going to get in there. Good luck. All right. All right. Thank you very much.
Starting point is 00:12:05 There you go. There it is. I feel like I did a good deed. I taught him the rules. I taught him the rules of Cornhole. You know, we've seen and heard and done some crazy things on these post-game basketball shows. But you teaching rules to the guys about how to play cornhole.
Starting point is 00:12:22 Well, it was bothering me that I didn't feel like they knew how to play. You know, I think they're just in it from the fun. But now they can play better because they can play. Now, he's going to explain the rules to his friends. See, Billy, I think I did something positive, didn't know. I think you changed his life. I think I made his life better by explaining to him the rules of cornhole. He is now telling his buddies.
Starting point is 00:12:43 See, now look, this whole group of people now know that. how to play one of America's past times and before they didn't know how to play. Okay, as you can see, it's a very energetic place. There's a lot of argument going on right now. Thank you very much, Ryan, for putting us right here for the show. 859-28027. Kentucky will play the winner of Illinois and Xavier. Right now, Illinois leads 3530.
Starting point is 00:13:06 I'm going to tell you folks watching at home, not because of who's good and who's bad. I'm pulling for Xavier because Illinois's got a lot of people here. And if we play Illinois Sunday, we're playing a road get. That arena when we left was probably, I'm not kidding, 70, 75% orange. Very rare. Illinois orange. Very rare for BBN to have a road game in the postseason. We'll have one Sunday if we play Illinois.
Starting point is 00:13:29 Troy hardly had anybody. Xavier hardly had anybody. It was all Troy and Kentucky. It was all Illinois and Kentucky. I'm sorry. But I think Illinois had more people. Oh, about three times as many people. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:13:39 We'll take a break. Be right back. This is the local toy dealers, KSR post-game show. Welcome back. It is the local toy dealers KSR post game show. One person writes on the text machine, 7772, 7754. This is exactly how Kentucky's first win in the last couple years in the tournament should be.
Starting point is 00:14:01 You may need to have another conversation with them. Why? They don't know how to keep scored. Okay, come here. So Kevin, Kevin, Kevin, Kevin, come here. I want to teach... Kevin, Kevin, Kevin, you don't... I got to teach you.
Starting point is 00:14:13 teach you how to keep score real quick okay all right so put that put that back on Kevin here's how you do both all right so the way you go if you're going against him you have the orange bag you throw the first one okay cool and then he throws one cool then you throw one then you throw one then he throws one oh and at the end if the ball went in the hole two points or the bag if it's left on the board it's one so he throws one then you throw it you try to knock him off sure yes does that make so so do i knock my You don't want to keep yours off. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:14:46 You're going against him. You're trying to knock his bags off. Yeah. Beat it. So he's not my teammate. Well, not if he's on the same side as you. You're going against each other. Like your teammate needs to be over there.
Starting point is 00:15:00 You see? My God. We sitting here playing Love Boat, and it's totally not that. It's not Love Boat. Oh, my God. It's like BattleBots. You're going to. That's your inner.
Starting point is 00:15:13 me right there. I don't want him. You don't want him to be your enemy? No. You wouldn't be your friend. Well yeah, because I got to go against them. No, no. You, he needs to be over there and one of them needs to be over here. Showtime. Showtime. All right, good luck, Kevin. Yeah, showtime. There we go. So him and his teammate are on the same end. Yeah, they don't know. I don't know if they know how to play. But that's okay. It looks like they're having fun. They're having tons of fun, and so is everybody who's right here watching. And who else is having fun. Me. Most of these last few post-game, shows have me being depressed trying to figure out whether or not to say John Calgary needs to go and now I'm with Kevin and I'm talking cornhole and it's a
Starting point is 00:15:54 much more positive time. A last year at this time that post game show you did say it was time for John Caliperie to go remember I know and it was a very difficult decision the Illinois is up 37 35 on Xavier just real quick before we go the phones when it comes to time of the game okay we do not know what time Kentucky's gonna play we will know when all the games are over tonight. Looks like Illinois is going to lead by five at halftime. Here's my prediction, right? If Yukon wins, then that means in Raleigh, they'll have Florida, Yukon, and Duke Baylor. On CBS, the early games, the two early games are standalone. Right, right. I think that
Starting point is 00:16:33 duo of games will, they'll probably put those at 12 and 230, which I think means Kentucky will play at five. Yeah. If, however, Yukon were to lose to Oklahoma, then I'd I think what they would do is put us at 230, Duke at 5. Just my prediction. But if Yukon wins, then I would guess we play at 5. If Yukon loses, I would guess we play at 230. Because I think no matter what, the Duke and Kentucky game are going to be either at 2.30 or 5, because CBS is going to want those games in its prime position.
Starting point is 00:17:06 So from the Milwaukee session, you think our game would be before the Iowa State game. Either scenario? I think no. I think if Yukon wins, it'll be before Iowa. Iowa State. If Yukon loses, I think we'd be the second. Be the second game. But again, I'm guessing, I'm just trying to act like I'm a TV programmer. Right now, I should have never taught. These people are going absolutely crazy. Look at them.
Starting point is 00:17:29 We have- Kevin! We have created an absolute circus here, Ryan Lemon. They've got, they used to get those of the teams split up correctly. Shannon is just laughing over there. Can you believe this? These UK fans over here clapping after them. brother no we're out of control what else could you want on a Friday night when you beat Troy in the tournament who's up first nick is up first Nick go ahead Nick hey guys how we got a night doing great hey uh is there any chance i can speak to Kevin no no Kevin's he's he's up in the game
Starting point is 00:18:06 now that's pretty good hey uh two things one they're not calling foul so i hope Kentucky's ready to come out solid on Sunday and also And Matt, do you know what time they've found Sunday? I'm just curious. I do not. I appreciate the call. I think that's an important point about the fouls. We've been watching games for a day and a half.
Starting point is 00:18:26 They're not calling as near. They are not calling fouls. And they're not calling fouls and the game is not as physical as in the SEC. I think the SEC's got to look at itself in the mirror. Somehow the SEC has found itself in very physical games with a ton of foul calls. These are not, these games are, they're not as physical. They're not calling foul. Kentucky, I think, actually plays all right in that scenario, but they have to kind of be ready for it.
Starting point is 00:18:52 It's been interesting to hear the last month. Coach Pope talk about how they had to learn how to play in this more physical league, the SEC. Well, now it's away because they're letting everything go, especially like the end of the half, end of the game. Man, they're not swallowing their whistle. They're not calling anything. I mean, the SEC's going to finish eight and six, probably if Oklahoma loses on the, on the first two days of games. In my opinion, the SEC had seven really good teams, and then Arkansas became the eighth at the end of the year. I genuinely believe Florida, Alabama, Auburn, Tennessee, Kentucky,
Starting point is 00:19:28 Old Miss, and who am I missing? Texas A&M, we're all very good. I thought Mississippi State was good but got worse, and I think Arkansas wasn't good but got better. And I think, honestly, our eight good teams advanced, and it's looking like the other six are not going to. I got to look at my brackets when I get home, but how many are going to make it to the sweet 16?
Starting point is 00:19:48 How are we setting up? I think we will get, I think we'll get four, and then we would be the fifth. So are we going to win? I mean, I think Florida, Auburn, Alabama, and Tennessee are all going to win. So we'll either get, it'll be up to us to get the fifth. Because I think Old Miss will lose to Iowa State. I think Arkansas loses St. John.
Starting point is 00:20:12 Arkansas, I mean, they could win. that game. Yeah, I'll say six, actually. I think either Arkansas beat St. John's or Ole Miss beats Iowa State. I do not think Texas. Who does Texas A&M play? Well, they could win, too.
Starting point is 00:20:26 Honestly, yeah, any of those teams could win, to be quite frank with you. We're not going to get eight, but it's not crazy. That's crazy just to get six out of 16. They play Michigan. So, 8 in Michigan, I think that's a toss-up. A-N-M-M-in-Michigan-M-M-Michigan. I think us in Illinois, to be quite frank with you,
Starting point is 00:20:44 probably a toss up yeah I think St. John's is favored against Arkansas but I could see him winning and Ohio State or excuse me Iowa State's gonna be favor against Ole Miss but I could see them win if they play if they play with it's gonna be fun a couple days here I feel sorry for Shannon and Vandy over here because that that was they were up 12 Shannon called that game perfectly he knew he said band he's gonna jump out ahead about 10 or 12 points and then they'll blow the lead in the second half that's exactly what happened everybody in this world should be as happy as these as
Starting point is 00:21:14 Kevin and his friends are now playing. Play a cornhole. I'm going to tweet a picture now of me and Kevin so that people can see what he looks like. Mario took a picture. All right, who's up next? Skyler. Skyler. Go ahead, Skyler.
Starting point is 00:21:27 Hey, Skyler, Dean. Want to shout out. Dr. Greg Robson. Hey, Matt, I'm curious. Did you think we were operating at like 60% pace throughout that entire game? I mean, not just the pace of the game, but like energy level. I just felt like we were a little bit drag. And I'm not complaining.
Starting point is 00:21:45 I'm happy that we got Caliperi off our back. I mean, that monkey of winless couple years ago. But what did you think? I mean, I think we were at the beginning a little bit like that, but I think honestly, Troy does that to you. I appreciate the call. I think at the beginning of the game, Ryan, we were trying to push tempo, and it was leading us to take bad shots that we were missing.
Starting point is 00:22:07 I think we started one for eight from three. I think then we started playing the tempo. started playing the tempo they wanted and oddly we played better in that tempo but it may have looked like we were dragging because they kind of dictated the tempo a lot in this game they did they to their credit they did a good job of slowing it down trying to make it a half court game as much as possible but then once when once start like you said when noah hit the three once we finally got some threes going down it was hard to get the that momentum to stop for them yeah I but I don't think it was like I mean look this team is very wounded Butler is clearly playing hurt. He's still struggling. Amari was playing hurt tonight apparently.
Starting point is 00:22:49 Travis Perry is playing hurt. You know, this is a, I mean, this is a mass unit of a team that you just have to hope gets through game by game. Yeah, I don't think Butler scored a point tonight. You can tell you he shot a couple shots, had open looks and missed them bad, so... Missed a couple layups. Missed a couple layups, yeah. Yeah, but we still need him out there.
Starting point is 00:23:10 We're just so much better when he's on the floor. Yeah. Bryant by two. Bryant trying to be the only, right now none of the top four seeds have lost. It's got to be chalky. It's been very chalky. I mean, your only two upsets are McNeese and Colorado State, which were games a lot of people picked. Yeah. So who's up next? Butler's next. Butler, go ahead, Butler.
Starting point is 00:23:31 Hey guys, go cats. Go cats. Yeah, absolutely. My thing is, and I hate saying this, it breaks my heart because Butler is my favorite player. obviously. Does it not seem like we're playing better when he's not on the floor now since he's injured? Because he, you can watch him. His left shoulder and his left arm, he don't move it much until he goes to shoot. And when he shoots, he misses.
Starting point is 00:23:59 His defense presence obviously helps us. I mean, but if his offensive presence isn't there now, are we not doing better with him on the bench? I hate saying that. It kills him. I don't think so, no. I don't think so. And especially when we play, let's say we play Illinois.
Starting point is 00:24:18 I mean, I appreciate the call. You know, they got a top ten pick on their team. Butler and O'way are going to probably take terms guarding him. I love Travis Perry. He can't guard that guy, right? No, he can't. No, he can't guard that guy. He's a big team, too.
Starting point is 00:24:30 Can we guard that guy. I mean, so no. Now, does he maybe hurt us a little bit offensively? Maybe, but the pickup on defense, what I think is underrated is how well he played against the conference player of the year for Troy, their point guard. When he guarded him, the only little run that guy had was when we substituted in, took Butler out.
Starting point is 00:24:52 Even tonight, Troy's best player really was their point guard. Do you remember your point guard hurting it all tonight? Didn't. That's because of Lamont Butler. I think he ended up maybe 10 or 12 points, but he did nothing to really hurt us tonight. That's why you got to have Butler on the court. By the way, I gave you the wrong rules. It's supposed to be three points in the hole.
Starting point is 00:25:08 What you tell him? I think I said two, but you know what? I think they're enjoyed it. Yeah. There's no reason to do. No sense to mess with them now. They're in a groove right now. They are in a group.
Starting point is 00:25:16 And I'm not sure they're playing by the rules anyway. Well, I think Cornhole, you can come up with your own rules as you go along. You know, you have a like, do you call it a hangar? Why did you pick this spot? I mean, like, literally, I think you picked the loudest spot. We had two private rooms that are really nice, but nobody was going to be around. Yeah. But I wanted a little ambiance, but you ended up putting us in the Thunderdome.
Starting point is 00:25:41 You've got ambiance. You want an ambiance? We got you some ambiance right here. We do have some ambiance. That's for sure. I think Shannon's going to get hit by one of these bags, these wayward bags. Who's next? Nobody has screamed this much playing the sport of cornhole in its history.
Starting point is 00:25:56 It's a lot of screaming. Go ahead. Soul train. Soul train. How are you? What's going on, Matt Jones and company? And go be blue. That's right.
Starting point is 00:26:07 You know it. Hey, man. Let me tell you. Um, me and my girlfriend said that we was watching the game, and he was saying to me, uh, as long as Kentucky plays, you know, you know, don't play at a high tempo and play at, you know, just, uh, be patient. They get good shots. And they, they made a lot of good shots when they were like, patient and everything.
Starting point is 00:26:31 I am very proud of them. You know, this is a great win for them. Take it one game at a time. But what do you think? Do you think Kentucky is real good at, being, you know, playing at a high tempo or should they like, you know, be taking. I think it depends on who they're playing against. I mean, I appreciate the call.
Starting point is 00:26:47 You know, earlier this year, I thought teams had slowed us down really hurt us. And then it's like we found something in the Tennessee game to where we did better against teams like that. When we played fast-dipo teams like Alabama, we got to run off the court. So I don't really know, to be honest with you. They are kind of hard to figure out because they did it. I guess I know who won. I guess I know who just won that game. I'm sorry, go ahead.
Starting point is 00:27:14 I don't even remember what I was saying. What are we talking about tempo? This scene here is absolute insanity. I mean, Billy, have you ever heard a corndole game with this much inside? No, it's unbelievable. It's unbelievable. I wish you could see Kevin. He dances before every throw.
Starting point is 00:27:31 Mario, I'm sure, we'll film some of it here. The Kevin, what he said? I'm an independent, motivated black man. Is that what he said? I think that's what he said. Oh, my goodness. Mark Pope's, Mark Pope's, Mark Pope, I saw his wife, and his wife just gave me a hug and said,
Starting point is 00:27:51 we are so happy for what you all do. I have this dream that they are, like, driving down the road right now, turning to show on to go, what is everybody saying when they're hearing this? Yeah, let's listen to our fans after the big win we just got against Troy. By the way, did you see the picture that I took of the two of them? Oh, Mark and Leanne? Yeah, I saw that. I mean, I think this is like an award-winning picture.
Starting point is 00:28:12 That is a really good picture. That's a really, really good picture. Maybe I want to print that one and put it on their wall. I showed it to her. And she was like, oh, and I thought, yeah. Yeah. Let's get Drew a headset here. 859, 280, 2287.
Starting point is 00:28:26 Here you go, Drew. Who's next? Stub. Stub. Go ahead, stub. Matt, a long time ago, I had a coach tell me he said Michael. If you're going to be successful, you need to have a, at least if you believe, and I can't say it, but it starts with another.
Starting point is 00:28:44 He said, you need to have one on your team. Well, tonight, Amari Williams and Brandon Garrison were those. They had 18 points, 19 rebounds, 6 for 5th. Yeah, the 19 rebounds were huge. I mean, remember, this is one of the best offensive rebounding teams in the country. And, you know, we didn't, we gave up a couple, but they didn't really crush us. And so you're right.
Starting point is 00:29:09 I do think those guys were big. That's all I got. Have a good one, buddy. Appreciate it. Drew has just come in. First of all, Drew, you've missed quite a scene. I was listening on my 15-minute walk, and I'm like, do I really want to keep walking towards this?
Starting point is 00:29:22 Yes, I do. Yeah, it's pretty awesome. That had to explain the rules. What do you say? We're trying to play love boat over here? I don't even know what that means. I don't know what it means to play love boat, but he did say that.
Starting point is 00:29:32 Real quick, what did you think of the game? Actually, Troy had 11 offensive rebate. That's more than I realized, but go ahead. I don't know what's already been addressed, but for 15 minutes of the game, I don't think I took a breath. It was very uncomfortable in there. And then Sweet Mountain Angel baby hit the corner three. And that 10-0 run, even though there was a second half run, a lot of basketball left. That was the cushion.
Starting point is 00:29:50 We all needed to exhale. Completely changed the game. And just now in the post-game comments, of course, playing to the Kentucky crowd, he told Jack Pilgrim, I pretended to be Malink Monk on my mini-hoop hitting that shot in between, at halftime of March Madness games on TV. So that just aided everyone's hearts. That's what Trit Noah said. I took that shot many times as Malik Monk on my mini-hoop.
Starting point is 00:30:11 So I know there was a lot more to the game, but that run changed everything, ending with Mari's coast-to-coast dunk that I think was the real play of the game. Yeah, two runs. They run at the end of the first half and then the Colin Chandler run. I mean, I think those are the two runs that ultimately got us a victory. Were you glad they got to play the walk-ons? Yes.
Starting point is 00:30:29 I wish they would play the walk-ons more. They practice. They go to every practice. Why can't you put them at the end of the game? They've even won. over like angry like even angry cynical shannon is clapping that's his first smile this weekend i think smiled since we got here wednesday and look at him smiling now he's loved it well how can you not love what kevin there goes the throw yes these guys are awesome an independent motivated
Starting point is 00:30:53 black man kevin it's what he said and now i just tweeted out the picture you Mario do you have a video of Mario do you have a video of his pre-shot routine his pre-shot routine his pre- You've got to get a video of that. That's not like, what are you doing? Go live on Instagram. Yeah, go live on Instagram. Show everybody, Kevin. Yes, go live on Instagram.
Starting point is 00:31:15 KSR the show. Wait till it's his turn again, Mario. Wait, and then go live on Instagram. We're gonna take a break and be right back. It's the local toy dealer's KSR post game show. Welcome back. It is the local toy dealers KSR post game show. In an update, Shannon has teamed up with Kevin
Starting point is 00:31:32 to take on two strangers in Cornhole. Mario was filming it on the KSR on the show page. Exactly what you thought would happen. Randy tweeted in, Drew, and said, I turned on the postgame show to hear about the game, not stupid cornhole. I turned it off. And I responded, shut up, Randy.
Starting point is 00:31:51 I got to admit, I think this is awesome. Like I said, I was listening on my walk over here. I started to run because I didn't want to miss out on the scene. One serious thing that I'm going to try to do amongst this chaos, UK legend Vernon Hatton passed away. Yes. The team actually apparently went and saw him. Was it this week?
Starting point is 00:32:10 I think Mark said before they came to Milwaukee. So this week, and he passed away, Mark mentioned it during the postgame show. A legend of UK basketball. Jersey and the Rafters, one of the greats to ever play. Especially, you know, he's from Lexington. He played at Lafayette High School, was Kentucky Mr. Basketball, then was a businessman in Lexington, just kind of a titan of a man in the Lexington. when it comes to basketball, and he will be sadly, sadly missed.
Starting point is 00:32:36 Yeah, that's right. NCAA champion. And I have his autograph on a free in his shirt. I got to meet him years ago. I had a free in his shirt in my car. And I was like, do you mind if I run out and get this? And he signed it. And a big shout out to Mark Pope for taking his team to say.
Starting point is 00:32:49 Amen. I mean, think about that. That's generations of UK players. That's one of the people that built the program. That's a member of maybe the greatest team to ever play here in 1996. And now this generation, Mark, three different generations of UK players together. I think that's awesome.
Starting point is 00:33:07 And I think that's what make Pope's special. He gets it. He understands the lineage of the people that played here to kind of blaze that path and everybody else to play now. Yes, he does. Can I tell you two quick things. One, an embarrassing thing.
Starting point is 00:33:21 Shannon and Kevin won. We've lost Shannon to Kevin. Shannon's going to be moving in with Kevin, I think. They have this thing that you have to do when you ask questions. You know this. You have to say the question, you have to say your name and where you're from. Right.
Starting point is 00:33:37 Right. So you have to go Matt Jones, Kentucky Sports Radio. The first question was Darrell Berg. But he had already asked a question to the players before Mark got in there. So you only have to say it once. So he had already said his name. So he didn't say his name and did it. The guy hands me the microphone.
Starting point is 00:33:54 And then the next guy that asked had already asked one too. So two people had gone before me and had already asked a question. Identified themselves already? Yes. So I had not. So when I got to Mark, the guy, before he handed me the mic, said, make sure to say your name and where you're from. And I said, Matt Jones, Kentucky Sports Radio.
Starting point is 00:34:11 And Mark goes, I think we all know who you are. And I was like, Mark's going to think that I, even though nobody else did. You're just following protocol. He told me to say my name. I wanted to go, well, wait a minute. He's the one that told me to say my name. Second thing, we're not going to say Billy who the media member was. Okay.
Starting point is 00:34:30 Billy, not going to say who the media. member was. We'll say it. But a media member lost it tonight. I mean lost it backstage. They didn't. So they only give what seven seats on? Not many. They give like seven seats on the floor. Okay. And by the way, I don't know how they decide who they give them. I know I never get one. I know Drew never gets one. I couldn't even see half the court in my seat. But like seven people get it. Jack got one. Yeah. You know. He used the Courier Journal. The Courier, I didn't pick it one. No, Currier was up top.
Starting point is 00:35:04 I don't know how they decided. It doesn't matter. Somebody got it. But one person didn't get it. And that person lost it. Uh-oh. I mean, lost it. Put on a scene for the ages.
Starting point is 00:35:18 Oh, my. Backstage. For the ages. And I will say, it's not who you think properly. But, like, for the ages scene, Drew, that still is the tall. of the game in the media world. And it worked because they pulled up a chair and found a seat for that person. But it was such a talk around the arena.
Starting point is 00:35:38 In the second half, you know, Illinois plays next. Some Illinois, like, young college age kids sit down next to me. I have to scoot over and let them in. And they are talking about the Kentucky media member. It got to, like, the Illinois people. It was such a big deal. It was for, I mean, literally, I think Otega Owe was more interested in that than the game. I had heard that this media member went after a member of the UK brass.
Starting point is 00:36:00 Yes. But it was really yelling at anyone near. But you can't. You can't have nothing to do with it here. Yielding at people working the concessions. Just in. Yielded Kevin? And by the way, from a stature standpoint, nowhere close to other people in terms of followers and readers and listeners, didn't matter.
Starting point is 00:36:19 Didn't matter. It was, it was one. When I was in the back row of the top level, I thought I got to get on a more popular radio show and a more popular website. I'm the last seat in the building. Kevin just hold one. Kevin is giving me DX chop. to his opponents with Shannon. All right, who's up next?
Starting point is 00:36:34 Kentucky Dale. Kentucky Gale. What's up? Hey, Matt. Hey, I just had a question. I know I'm talking to two people, especially you that make promises their ass can't cash like,
Starting point is 00:36:49 fade this podcast on March Madness week. But I just had a question. I love it, by the way. It's my favorite podcast, literally. But also, I made a, made a promise to all my friends. If Kentucky makes the final four, I have to convert to Mormonism. So how does soaking work? Like, do I have to have two people on the side of the man? It has to be after midnight before we could talk about that. But I appreciate the call. We can't
Starting point is 00:37:15 do that. But I will say there will be some excitement if we were to do that. I just want to win the next game. Well, first of all, I wanted to win this game. I'm not going to say I'll be happy if we lose round two. But when you consider the injuries and everything, for me, this was the game we just had to win. Definitely a big sigh of relief. I mean, nobody wants to lose in round two, but just getting past this one was huge where we could all exhale. Illinois's up six.
Starting point is 00:37:41 I'm telling you right now, I've never been a bigger fan of any team than I'm of Xavier right now because there were more Illinois fans at our game tonight than Kentucky fans. I'm going to go ahead and tell you, the ticket on Sunday, if Illinois wins, is going to be one of the hardest tickets for one of these first and second round games ever. because the whole first session was all Iowa State fans. They're going to buy up a bunch of tickets.
Starting point is 00:38:04 There are a ton of Iowa State fans here. There are a ton of Illinois fans here. If it is Illinois, Kentucky, and Iowa State, Ole Miss does not have many people here. There are probably some people who were thinking, I'm just going to drive up on Saturday and go to the Sunday game against Illinois. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:38:19 It's going to be tough. It's going to be tough. I'm going to say this. I'm glad Iowa State's in it, so it's not all Illinois. That's true. Because Illinois had a ton of people there, tonight and I think they're going to have they're up 10 now I think they're going to have a ton of people if they play us on oh yeah from my vantage point I could see every seat in the building beneath me and there was a lot more orange than blue
Starting point is 00:38:39 I mean the people that were there were given it their best but that was one of the lowest turnouts from kentucky fans for a game like this that i can remember it is definitely one i mean the only one i could think lower was boise which was on the other side of the country you can expect it there but this was this was a low one and i think it'll be interesting to see what maybe we need to get kevin and his friends a ticket and you can shirts they'll bring the noise i'm going to tell you something you have just developed a professional cornhole player he's hitting everything he's hit he's got a strut he already has a cellie you are just you have created a monster here changed this man's life yes you have he's up next darrell darrell go ahead darrell what's up guys what's going on darrell from bowling green what's going on darrell from darrell from bowling green uh i i just won't say i i i don't say i I'm a blessed man. I got my kids and grandkids from Florida and Mayfield here,
Starting point is 00:39:35 and we are enjoying the games. And they all want to say something. Y'all ready, guys? One, two, three. C-H-C-S-T-S-T-S-T-S. There you go. Thank you very much. I appreciate it.
Starting point is 00:39:52 Glad to see that energy. Need to have some of it here. Maybe not in this post-game show where I think there's plenty of energy. But for Kentucky here on Sunday. I wonder what we can do between now and Sunday to help our Kentucky fan base that are here because more Kevin we we maybe we can recruit Kevin to come and be a part of our fan base you know that Shannon can't miss Shannon's got the Kevin energy now he can't miss Marquette got beat maybe we can't recruit all the Marquette people to come be on our side now yes oh Shannon hit another one they're on fire Kevin and Shannon are like on fire they're there's the happiest I've seen Shannon in months.
Starting point is 00:40:31 Look at it. You got any OBW contracts on you? I think you need to extend some offers to these guys. Heather is next. Heather, go ahead to Heather. I think we need to maybe get Kevin to come in the locker room and do a free game speech to the guys. Because they seem to like a little energy in the first ice. Yes, he is, he's amazing.
Starting point is 00:40:54 I was wondering if y'all seen the post-game interview. with Pope and Butler. Was it on television? If it was, I did not see it. No, I didn't see it. Well, that's what I figured. Hope made a comment that the guys was hanging on by strings, then said that Butler's arms were actually taped together.
Starting point is 00:41:22 So it was funny, and then she asked him about to coach in there, and he gave a really, really touch and sadness, of course. And it was a good interview. Yeah, well, I didn't get to hear it. I heard, yeah, I mean, he said that. Annie then also added the stuff about Amari and the postgame header. I appreciate the call. So, I mean, this is a wounded group.
Starting point is 00:41:48 I mean, Butler barely hanging on, Williams hurt, Travis Perry hurt, Jackson out, Kerr out. I mean, like it's, but. That also makes it to where you got to say, listen, it's awesome. They keep getting to this point, and then we'll see what happens on Saturday. They don't miss now. Shannon and Kevin do not miss. They are on fire.
Starting point is 00:42:09 With one game down, you've got to be proud of the bench. When we knew Robinson was out, someone had to step up collectively with the bench, covered the scoring load. It had 25 points, four threes. I mean, when you get two threes from Colin Chandler, a three from Brandon Garrison, Trent Noah hitting the big three. I mean, that went a long way and carrying the scoring load. UCon leads Oklahoma 42-37, but Oklahoma's going to have three free throws after the break,
Starting point is 00:42:33 got fouled on the three. They're trying to make that game close. Oregon's crushing Liberty. Michigan State and Bryant are still close. Xavier is down nine. Looks like Illinois will be who we play. Well, you know, I don't know what's going to happen in that game if we play Illinois. It's going to be tough for us to guard.
Starting point is 00:42:48 They're the main guy, but they can also go ice cold. I want to hate him, but I saw our guy, Coach Obe, as they started to warm up, and he hit me with our line again. So if you don't know, Coach O, did he say it tonight? He hit me again. It's twice in three days. Drew, they say something that the, what's the character? Logan Roy on Succession.
Starting point is 00:43:06 Logan Roy on Succession says to his kids a lot. That's their greeting and they will scream it at each other across the floor. He shouted it from mid court. He called me Drewski. He said, Drusky. And then they say that. And we can't say that. It actually made me, I haven't seen him since the split.
Starting point is 00:43:22 You know, I was very critical of that staff. And I've wondered where KSR is with coach. because we've always liked him, and that went a long way hearing him say that to me. Those two words. I was on ESPN Milwaukee doing an interview. He saw me. He walked up and hugged me in the middle of the interview, and I just stopped the interview and said I'd missed him, and it was nice to see him.
Starting point is 00:43:38 You guys always had a good relationship with him. I love Coach up. Yes, big fan. Orlando and I, Orlando was, if next to, you know, next to like Vince Merrow and PV, probably the next person that I was the closest to at UK was probably a lot of it. And I think, you know, if it was strong enough, it could survive. the divorce that happened here just this time last year. I think, oh, loves Cal, but he knew.
Starting point is 00:44:02 Yeah. I told him, I hope, to see you Sunday, but on the inside, I don't want to see him Sunday. Yeah. Well, we may get him. We'll see. Who's up next? Dwayne. Dwayne.
Starting point is 00:44:11 Go ahead, Dwayne. Yeah, I'd like to speak to the commissioner of the Cornhole Association of Brent Wall. I guess it's me. Yes, go ahead. Yeah. Great win by the catch tonight. I was so stressed in the beginning when it was closed, and then we pulled it out when the Sweet Mountain.
Starting point is 00:44:33 Baby hit that three points. I thought that was the change of the game. As he hit that. We went on a run, and I'm in Kentucky right now, and I'm just looking at tickets, and I think if anybody here and wanting to go to the game, buy some tickets, and let's get up there. and let's get this team to the sweet 16. Yeah, I mean, listen, we need everybody here that we can get here.
Starting point is 00:45:03 And we'll know the time of the game probably in the next hour or so. I think the Oregon game is going to be the last game, and it's going to be a route. So we'll probably know, I would say we'll know as soon as the Yukon, Oklahoma game is over. Very soon after they will announce it right. Yeah, and like you said, they're going to stagger it because it's for TV. Well, the key is they want their two best games at two. 230 and 5 o'clock.
Starting point is 00:45:26 Yep. And they tend to, if history is any indication, want Kentucky and Duke playing at that time. So I just have to assume we get one of them, they get the other one. I just, you would think that's the most likely scenario. And a Kentucky Illinois game is a little more attractive than a Kentucky Xavier game. And a Yukon, Florida game is very attractive as well.
Starting point is 00:45:43 So, I mean, they have a chance to have three very attractive games on Sunday. And I would guess one of them will be at noon, one of them will be at 2.30, and one of them will be at 5. We'll be one of those three. I think we'll be one of those three, and we'll figure out which one it is. 59-2-80-2287 we're going to take a break come back this is one of the more entertaining and bizarre post-game shows of all time I said to Ryan of all the places he could have picked he chose this it ended up being nailed it they were
Starting point is 00:46:09 great hosts for the pregame show too Ryan Lemon my man we'll take a break of me right back it's a local tour de dealers KsR post game show welcome back it is the local tour de dealers KSR post game show 859280 27 text machine 172, 775, 754, one person writes, Matt, I would have thought the person that blew up about their seat was you. No, I'd ever complain about a seat because I don't stay. So I can't be mad. I saw your seat. It looked pretty empty. I can't be mad if nobody gave you a, they gave me a seat upstairs, but like I'm not going to.
Starting point is 00:46:43 The other thing is, like, we're pretty, I do believe this. I mean, if they're going to give seven seats down low, if you're going to give it to seven people who are going to be red or heard the most, it should be all seven us. but I understand that wouldn't be fair. Yeah. We had Jack Pilgrim was down there. That's fine. He's the basketball beat reporter, so I'm good with it. I don't care if they don't give me seat.
Starting point is 00:47:05 We're getting into the games for free. Come on. Like, with that said, it is funny because people get mad now. This is the first time I've ever. I've seen it before. I've seen it. I've seen a bunch of people over the years get mad. This was the worst one in terms of reaction.
Starting point is 00:47:22 Oh, by far. Although I did see one time. national media member lose it even worse than that because they weren't put on the front row. The only thing they'll complain about more than seats is if they're not giving free food. Yeah. Media members can make it difficult to like them. I totally understand why people would feel that way. Well, you know, we were all sitting down on the first row where we weren't supposed to be sitting. They came and asked us to leave. They came and asked all of us to leave. We all left. Mario just stayed.
Starting point is 00:47:49 Mario just stayed there. I got to sit there the whole game. He didn't get up these days. there the whole game i went down there at half time to talk to him but i didn't want to blow his cover so i was just very quick i gave him a wink like don't move keep that seat he was sitting on the opposite side exactly like where lean pope was sitting exactly on the uk side we all got up literally billy was seats for like players for like coaches wives and families and mario was sitting there he said it was the troy principal i mean president the troy athletic director like detroit social studies teacher yeah so mario was sitting with the troy administration
Starting point is 00:48:24 And he did not move. He had to pee really bad, but who cares? Hold it. You're to can't if you get up. You're going to lose your seat. And I watch the game at the St. Kate Arts Hotel. And I will tell you, if you were like a little investigation as to where UK staying, they have a pizza. You make your own pizza place in the lobby.
Starting point is 00:48:42 That's nice. Yeah. It is an art. There's like art galleries, like all over the place. And there's an ice cream store inside. Wow. Well, let's just go crash it. That's why do you think I stay.
Starting point is 00:48:54 I got to keep my street going of Mexican food for every meal. I'm four in a row here. It's like they're about to close this down. So we're going to have to make this spot the final segment. Who's next? Casey. Casey, how are you, Casey? I'm pretty good, Matt McRue.
Starting point is 00:49:08 How are y'all doing tonight? Doing good. All right. I've got to ask before I make my shout out tonight and my comment. Have you all taught that dude how to play cornhole tonight? I think we did. I think we did. He became a superstar cornhole player.
Starting point is 00:49:23 I think he did. That's what's up. That's how you do it from Kentucky. That's what's up. But I want to give a shout out to Mark Polk and the crew not getting the first NCAA wins tonight. Getting that out of the way under the rug. That's all it meant for me tonight. We're going to make a run.
Starting point is 00:49:42 Go cap. That's all I have to say. Go catch. All right. Appreciate the call. Yeah. I hope we do make a run. But we had to have this one.
Starting point is 00:49:49 I was thinking to myself when it was 25, 24 or whatever. And I was like, all right, I sometimes. go through the oil. What if we lose? And I was like, this will be miserable. I mean, I don't want to lose Sunday. But like, you know, if it happens, I think I would blame it more on injuries than anything. But you can't lose to Troy. And thankfully, we did not. I think what hurt me even worse when it was 25, 24 is the little redhead I talked about and put on my Instagram story had a driving layup that cut it to one. And I'm like, this just has that feeling that we've seen too many times. Yeah, Jacob Polichick played point guard for Troy.
Starting point is 00:50:23 Well, you know, last year, Jack Golkies was just uncounted. He was hitting him from everywhere. If they had gotten beat tonight, it would have been, I think, even worse, because they weren't good. They weren't a good team. Well, that was the reason I still wasn't worried about us losing yet, is that I didn't really feel like they were good. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:50:41 And we were just, I mean, we missed shots, but they didn't, you know, I said this on the pregame. The recipe for an upset is to have a team who can make a ton of threes, and they were not that team. And that's the way it goes. Oklahoma has now taken the lead on Yukon. Telling y'all, they're into the dynasty. If Oklahoma wins this.
Starting point is 00:50:59 That win in Baylor beating Duke. That would be good. Oklahoma, if they won this, would be, that'd be nine SEC teams that would make it to the second weekend. They're dangerous. You know, we beat them within that last second shot, but Oklahoma's dangerous. Looks like Illinois is pulling away from Xavier. So we're going to play a rare road gate in the NCAA tournament. Yes, it will be.
Starting point is 00:51:18 I'm thinking you. I can't remember how many times that's happened. When do you think the last time that's? happen you may have to go back to Boise because we've always got fans even in green tomorrow we've been Boise we played Buffalo and David's it's kind of a neutral group I don't think we anybody had more trying to think we when we played up here when we played Marquette in Minneapolis we I think they had more fans than us when Bogan's got hurt don't you think that's a good one because that was Wisconsin
Starting point is 00:51:45 you think there's just something about Wisconsin we just not have any fans that live up here well also in addition to Illinois fans right in front of me and Ryan, there was a group of Wisconsin fans wearing 38 and 1 Eat at Kentucky. So there's a lot of Wisconsin fans just here to Ton, Kentucky. I did see a bunch of Wisconsin fans here, actually, which I thought was kind of weird. And there were a lot of Marquette people walking around town because they were playing at the same time. And then Marquette got beat, so why not they can't jump on board wagon? It would be interesting.
Starting point is 00:52:13 I would bet the tickets for that on, I bet there are going to be something. Sunday? I would think Sunday there's going to be. Let's go. let's see what they are right now. Right now, the get-in price is $220 right now. We have to thank Kentucky fans in Chicago. I feel like most people up here are from Chicago.
Starting point is 00:52:34 So they are carrying BBN. At least they did tonight. Thanks to the Chicago people. All right. We got five on there, Billy. Is that right? Five left, yep. All right, let's go through them.
Starting point is 00:52:42 Who's next? Alex. Alex. Alex, go ahead, Alex. Hey, first time long time. Who are? I was just calling. I find myself.
Starting point is 00:52:52 The Brock against team brought it up a lot, but about Amari dunk at the ball. And if he had a back injury, I can kind of give him a pass on it. But every time he's in a lap situation, coming from a guy who, one of his greatest athletic achievements is touching top of the loop of the net, I'm like screaming dunk it every time. In the second half, I came back in the arena with about six minutes to go, and I sat right behind, I took someone's seat and sat right behind Jack Givens. And Jack Gibbons was screaming for Amari to dunk.
Starting point is 00:53:20 Just dunk. I mean screaming for him to dunk. And then he did with like two and a half or three minutes to go. And I thought Jack was going to punch Tom Leach in the face. He gave a fist that I think he nearly in honor of rest in peace, George Foreman, got a left hook right there to, but yes, I appreciate the call. Amari missed a lot of layups. I heard him.
Starting point is 00:53:43 We missed nine layups tonight. I heard him scream more than once. You know, just dunk it, big fella. Just go up and dunk it. He had that layup down there in the paint. How did you hear him? You were up in the rafters. Well, I got here early.
Starting point is 00:53:56 Oh, okay. Yeah, I heard that. He was plugged in. I was worried early. Amari threw a great out of, like, bounce pass to Lamont and hit him in stride, and he missed a routine layup. Just the layups were not going in. Lamont, even before his injury, he just misses a lot of layups. I don't know why that is.
Starting point is 00:54:12 O for five tonight and a lot of turnovers. Although I saw he had the highest plus minus on the team. I know that stack can be a little misleading. I think that's because of defense. Yeah, of course, but he just, he wasn't finishing well. His defense against that kid. That point guard, I thought was huge. That is a huge underrated part of him because that's their best player and we really didn't hear a lot from him tonight.
Starting point is 00:54:31 He was a non-factor because of Lamont. Four more. Who's next? Kristen. Kristen, go ahead, Kristen. Oh, hey, I've been watching you all. I didn't know you had Instagram lives, but I noticed Shannon playing cornhole and he's actually pretty hot. I didn't know that.
Starting point is 00:54:52 Whoa. I'm telling you, the KSR thirst level has just gone up. I mean, we've had two different people offer their wives, one to me, one to Drew. Now, Shannon's hot. Mario had a woman grab his butt today. I mean, like, I don't know what's going on. Ryan, this is going to hit you, too. Well, you know, the picture with me and my belly hanging out, it's really, I didn't get the same effect as you guys are getting.
Starting point is 00:55:19 What in the world? Yes. Got hit with a jingga board. There's a lot of hotages in there. Oh, well, that's very nice of you. Well, I will tell Shannon that you're a fan. Yeah, let them know. All right, I appreciate the call.
Starting point is 00:55:36 How about that? See, another thing you didn't expect to happen on the local tour of dealers. I'm probably she didn't leave her digits or something for Shannon. She was very thirsty. A woman just called you hot on here. Wow. Oh, he's. Oh, he's, that's first.
Starting point is 00:55:50 That's first time that's ever happened. Oh, Billy's really mad about it. Billy said don't feed his ego. All right, three more. Who's next? Matt. I do like the Billy Shannon rivalry. Matt, go ahead, Matt.
Starting point is 00:56:01 Yeah, hey Matt. Big win, go cat. Two things. First, I need to hear from Drew the best Mexican he's had in Milwaukee. Actually, this place right here in the 3rd Street Market. I can't see the sign right now, but if you're ever in Milwaukee, you come to 3rd Street Market and go. the tacos. Food in this third street market is pretty good. It is good. Lexington could use a place
Starting point is 00:56:25 like this. We were talking about this is probably what they envisioned with Gray Line, but this is like right downtown next to the arena. And this is probably what the place, what's it called Lex Live. This is probably what they wish that was in terms of. Gray Line is what they wanted this to do. This is like a really, this is the food here is really good. There's like 10 different things. So it's, I recommend it if you come to town. Also the casino in what Illinois, not not Maconda. Yeah, Wakanda Ho. Good casino, Mexican. But go ahead.
Starting point is 00:56:56 Wait a minute. You want me to dump that? Uh, yeah. I think I... I don't know. I'm not going to say. Scotty just... Scottie just tried to block it.
Starting point is 00:57:12 Wildcat, all the way to July. We're not going to say who it is, because I don't want to say it. But some of it's... Someone associated with the team, extended from the team. Yes. Not a player or a coach. Told Drew, Drew said hopefully the first. I was with him before the game.
Starting point is 00:57:31 Hang on, hang on. Told Drew before the game. Drew said something like, you know, this will be the first of many. And the guy goes, yeah, we're going all the way to July. Well, he said something like, I enjoy your coverage of the team. And I said, we got six more games in this season. He goes, yep, all the way to July and hug me. And I win.
Starting point is 00:57:48 I think you meant April. That's our slogan for the rest of the year. I've really tried to think why he would say that. Why would he say all the way to July? I thought there had to be a reason something he's brain. I think he just messed up. They messed up. But that's our saying.
Starting point is 00:58:00 But we've now adopted. All the way to July. Scotty, all the way to July. These kids drop this jingo board on me. I'm going to throw them into the ocean. Get that thing away from me. All right, who's next? We're a long way from the ocean.
Starting point is 00:58:13 Two more. Todd is next. We're next to Lake Canada. All right, fine. Lake America, I mean. It's like Michigan, isn't it? Well, I think Trump renamed it Lake America. Okay, all right.
Starting point is 00:58:24 Go ahead. Todd, go ahead, Todd. Maybe this isn't like me. Y'all's conversation kind of interesting there. No, I was surprised that Butler didn't have a real good game tonight, but I was glad to see him out there. He didn't, by no mean, stuff, the statute. and I was surprised it didn't have any points at all.
Starting point is 00:58:53 And I wanted to tell you, too, that my nephew and his wife is there should be right there listening live. It's Landon and Laura Van Meter. So if you call out their name, they may be there. No. Well, we don't have a speaker, so I don't think they can hear us. But someone said to me they were here for the people. pregame, so we appreciate that.
Starting point is 00:59:21 I appreciate the call. There were a lot. We don't have a speaker, so, like, you have to, people can't hear us in here. Illinois is now up 17, so it looks like we're going to play Illinois with that, Drew. I'm not worried about Illinois as a team as much as I am, the fact that it'll be a road game. But again, they lost by 40 to Duke.
Starting point is 00:59:39 They also, I think, beat Michigan State by 20. I'm telling you, kids, if you do not, will stop with the jinga. Matt's going to beat up a 14. year old as we end the post game show you know the matchup is what it is and we're banged up I mean I've been hit by these bricks ten times I really have not it's it's gonna be weird because we will be outnumbered and that's something that we proud ourselves on having a home crowd in neutral sites but there is gonna be more
Starting point is 01:00:05 orange on Sunday first one less kid good at one less kid playing Jingo that's the fastest you've moved in years I didn't hit me with those stupid things we at least try to keep it to work these are like not little bitty jingo they're like like big. Yeah, and they just keep falling on me. They're that close to you? Oh, yeah. Yeah, because Ryan put us in the drop zone of every sport.
Starting point is 01:00:28 Matt's not exaggerating. I got hit in the back with the whole stack just a second ago. All right. One more. Who's next? Syndicate. Syndicate. Go ahead, syndicate.
Starting point is 01:00:36 Hey, guys. You sound like you guys are having a blast dinner, and it is on fire here in Lexington. I haven't seen this type of much excitement in the bars in especially a few years. And it's just great to see all this excitement back. in the city. It's a blessing to have it. And I'm asking one question for tomorrow for this Caliperi-Patino game, right? Who's going to pull it off? Who do you guys think I'm going to pull it off tomorrow? Because I think this is a huge excitement as well before we play on Sunday. Grabing it up for tomorrow. Who you guys are rooting for tomorrow? I mean, well, I'm rooting for Rick.
Starting point is 01:01:11 I don't know. I mean, St. Johns is better, but like Arkansas's got great athletes. And that, I think that's a week. You know, Petino said they were. have not played a team nearly as athletic as Arkansas, and that is probably true, so I don't know, Drew. Yeah, Arkansas hit another level in the last month, and if they have a game from A-Doo, who's been kind of quiet all year, if he plays anything like he did last night,
Starting point is 01:01:32 I mean, I think they got a good shot to take down the number two seed. Yeah, we will see, but I'm definitely rooting for Rick. Well, what a post-game show. It was, of all the post-game shows we've done. I think it was good. I think people liked it. We've done some crazy things. we've heard some crazy things, we've seen some crazy things.
Starting point is 01:01:50 This may have topped them all. Yeah, this reminds me trying to think of what one was like this. It's been a while. But it also shows you can't do this if you lose. If you lose, this is a sad, somber, like what's happened to Kentucky basketball. Instead, we're playing cornhole. Ryan is threatening kids. It's something else.
Starting point is 01:02:10 The one we did in Cleveland where a barefoot Ashley Judd jumped on the table. You know what? That's true. Ashley Judd taking her shoes. off barefoot jumping on the table and leading a C-A-T-S in the middle of that hotel. That one was up there. That was awesome. That was 2015, right?
Starting point is 01:02:28 Is it? Right, right? That was a lot of fun. Well, thank you folks very much for listening. I guess the next time you'll hear from us is two hours and a half before whatever time we play on Sunday, which we will not know probably for another 45 minutes or so. So I guess I will see you then. Thank you all very much for listening.
Starting point is 01:02:48 Thanks to the folks here at Third Street Market for letting us in here. Thanks to Kevin, the cornhole player. And thank you for nothing to these kids who keep dropping these jingas on me. This has been the local Toyota dealers, KSR Post-Gay Show. All the way to July.
