Another podcast from some SNL late-night comedy guy, not quite.
Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and Friends.
Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier.
This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidel
help an a cappella band with their between songs banter.
Where does your group perform?
We do some retirement homes.
Those people are starving for banter.

Last night, a blown call changed a game.

That's where SportsSlice comes in.
I'm Timbo, and every episode, we're cutting through the noise, breaking down the biggest moments in sports and giving you the real story behind the headline.
And we're going straight to the source, the athletes themselves, their locker room stories, their reactions in the moment, and the stuff nobody gets to hear.

stuff.
Like being an internet famous referee.
We're in the middle of a game.
This linebacker, this linebacker walks up to me.
He goes, hey, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her.
What?
Time out.
Quarterback on office blue 42.
A rep.
My mama want you to wave at her.
What?
Where's he at?
Hey, Miss Parker.

All right.
Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, grandpals and grandmals, aunts and uncles, good morning.
It is 12.20 a.m.
And this is the local total leader's KSR postgame show.
The Cats win their home finale.
Over Vanderbilt's by 16 points, 9377.
The guys out in the desert said the spread, I think, was 17 or 17 and a half, Billy.
And once again, Vandy covers the spread.
Jerry Stackhouse, he doesn't win when he comes to Rupp Arena,
but he covers the spread, dating in the night as Kentucky wins it by 16 points
heading off to their regular season finale at Tennessee on Saturday.
This is a game, Bill, I want your thoughts on this too.
This is a game where I thought, man, Kentucky is struggling offensively.
They're not shooting the ball very well.
They're having trouble scoring.
And I look up and they finish with 93 points.
Billy, you talk about a team that can score a bunch of points in a hurry.
I mean, they only shot what, like nine free throws.
Nine free throws and they scored 93 points after they started the game, I think,
one of nine from three-point land.
And it tells you what kind of offensive firepower this team really has.
Yeah, I think that's a good way to describe it.
You can look down and look back up, and it can be a completely different game,
because Dillingham could hit back-to-back threes.
Justin Edwards could come in and hit two threes and also have a one-handed slam.
DJ Wagner can do what he's been doing.
They do have that firepower.
There's no doubt about it.
The way the game started, both teams were having trouble scoring.
And near the last TV timeout of the first half, it was like 28, 25.
I'm like, oh my goodness, they're going to be struggling to get 60 in this game.
And then just like that, Reed hits a three, Dillingham hit two threes.
I think DJ hit the first three, I think, and then Reed, and then Dillianham hit two in a row,
and then Reeves hit the one before the buzzer, the end of the half.
And all of a sudden they've got 45 points going into halftime, 93 for the game.
So not the prettiest or the greatest game.
I think Kentucky's played in a while.
But still, when you outscore teams like that, when you put up 93 and make it look easy, you're tough to beat, aren't you?
Yeah, no doubt.
And I cannot believe Reeves got to 20 points again.
I think that's the sixth straight game of 20 plus points by him.
Six straight games, the most in the Cal era, I believe, if I'm not mistaken.
Six straight game of 20.
Think of all the great players who have played here.
great scores and you know his his average per game of 20 a game is now up there with
Jamal Murray's highest average per game Antonio Reeves a guy they had to call and
beg to come back to UK for this season he was going to leave he was going to go to
Illinois State they had to beg him to come back and look at the season he's done
he probably won't win SEC player of the year because Dalton connect will win it
but he should get votes and is in the conversation
because of what he's done this season.
Yeah, I would agree.
And just think about where he was, where we were this offseason, right?
Taking summer classes.
Is he going to come back to Kentucky?
And, you know, poetic that on senior night, he's able to score 20 points once again.
There was a week this summer where I think we all thought he's gone,
where he was looking to re-enroll at Illinois State.
And at the time, Trey Mitchell had not committed yet.
And we were trying to go through the roster like,
my goodness
I mean we got
Remember we're talking about
Maybe big Ray Serat
The student manager
Having to fill in
Maybe just to fill a roster spot
On this team at one point
So yeah
Well it's hard to imagine
Where this team would be
Without those two guys
Trey Mitchell to start the season
They'd absolutely desperately needed
His body and his ability out there
And then Antonio Reeves
I mean he's
You know we're coming off two seasons
Where Oscar Shebuwe was one of the most
Popular players of the Cal era
Now this year
year we've got all these unbelievably likable and popular players on the team and Reeves just
quietly goes about his business and gets 20 a game it's unbelievable billy it really is yeah it's
also unbelievable how fast rob dillingham can score i mean that guy is a fan favorite for a reason i'm
finally picking up with just saia's putting down right i understand remember we kept saying that he is
the favorite player for all the young guys the young guys knew about rob long before we did
because he's YouTube highlight reels and everything
and the things he was doing at overtime elite
and now we're seeing it.
The guy is special, man.
He is just special.
And it's a, you know, he could play at a place like Vanderbilt
and maybe average 30 a game if you wanted to.
He is that talented.
But he's, look, he's, and you know,
there was all the rumblings about him coming in
that maybe he wouldn't be a good teammate.
Maybe he'd be tough and, you know,
maybe a little selfish.
There hasn't been none of that.
I mean, none of that this whole season, to his credit.
He's just fun to watch.
You're right.
You talk about a guy that can score in a hurry.
You know what his best bucket was he hit tonight?
Was that one he went to the right side, kind of was floated to the right side a little bit,
took it out his right hand, and flipped it way high up off the glass, like a bank shot.
I'm like, how did he get that shot off?
I mean, that's like something you do when you're playing a horse with your dad in the backyard and trying to trick-shot him.
That was a good one.
So he's got the chemistry with Big Z down,
a little pick and roll action we saw again late,
so I love to see that.
Oh, there's no doubt.
I'm glad you brought that up because those guys, yeah,
have definitely got a little thing going on now.
Z's proven he's earned the minutes now to play,
and Rob knows that to look for him,
that the pick and roll that they can run the last two games
with those two guys have been very effective.
So like I said, it wasn't the prettiest, greatest,
cleanest game Kentucky's going to play.
And having played, you know,
struggling offensively, and then they still scored 93 points.
I mean, they didn't get 109.
They didn't break 100.
They still scored 93 points.
So now, now, you know, really, Tennessee has won the SEC
by beating South Carolina tonight.
They are the SEC champions.
But Kentucky has put themselves in position where they can still get that
double by going into the SEC tournament.
You beat Tennessee on Saturday.
You know, what do they got to play for?
They've already won the SEC tournament.
They ain't got nothing to play for.
You go down, you beat Tennessee,
In Knoxville, I think you can, if all the stars have lined up,
you can end up being the two-seed in the SEC tournament next week in Nashville.
Wow, is that right?
Number two-seed, if they win?
If they win.
They don't need any other results?
Well, you know, this is pretty confusing for me.
I'm just going to what everybody else is saying.
Everybody else is saying, now that South Carolina lost, if Kentucky wins, they're the two-sie.
Okay, I'll take that as the gospel.
By this time we go on KSR tomorrow, it'll have changed again.
But South Carolina losing helped Kentucky,
even though Tennessee won the outright title, SEC Championship.
All right, we hope a lot of you are up.
We hope a lot of you are listening,
and we hope a lot of you really want to call in the night
because we're going to need it.
859-280-2-287.
Those 9 o'clock Wednesday games,
and you're playing Vanderbilt and you win by double digits,
maybe not a lot of people staying up to call the post-game show, Billy.
What do you think?
No, I've got faith.
in Big Blue Nation.
Where's Matt at tonight?
What's load management night?
What's going on?
Well, yeah, load management's a good way to put it.
You know, he had a busy weekend.
He had to do a lot of ESPN shows and the UK shows.
And I was off this weekend.
I didn't do the pregame show with him.
So this was kind of a trade-off.
Oh, yeah.
He needs to eat some soup and get in bed.
I understand.
He eats some soup, get in bed.
I heard that.
I heard Cal say that's why he called in.
Hey, listen, to his credit, at least he called in.
I was afraid he wasn't even going to call in and just have Chin Coleman
and do the whole postgame show.
Cal calls in, and he's going to try to be in bed by midnight, he said,
because Ellen's going to have him some soup, he's going to get home, eat some soup,
and go to bed before midnight.
I mean, it's 12.30.
I mean, it would have been an extra 15 minutes to go out and do the show with Tom Leach out
with the fans out there.
Because it sounded like there were a lot of fans that stuck around to hear,
at least Chin Coleman speak after the game, didn't it?
I'm not sure, but we did have all the seniors come out and interview with Goose.
That was good.
But he did have a cough, so hopefully he's a,
He's healed up and ready to go.
SEC tournament.
Go get some soup.
Yeah.
Kareem Watkins, Trey Mitchell, and Tonyo Reeves all did senior day activities.
Brendan Canada opted not to because he did the senior day activities last year, started the game.
He opted to pass, so Kareem Watkins stepped in today.
So that was kind of another good, just, teammate thing to do, you know, for your buddy.
And I think that's why these people, this team gets along so well.
They like each other so much.
They all have done things like this throughout the season.
and even this summer up in Canada.
So here we go.
We got one game left.
We got those ugly stinking, good for nothing.
Tobacco Chewing Tennessee volunteers coming in going on up against them on Saturday.
We'll get ready for that.
We'll take your calls.
859-280-2287.
Please call.
859-280-287.
Ryan and Billy, we're up late on the local Twitter Dealer's KSR Post-Game Show.
All right, welcome back.
Local Twitter Deer's KSR post-game show.
I'm in my kitchen with my dogs.
Billy is in the studio in downtown Lexington.
I want to take your calls.
Phone lines are open.
859-280-2287.
Billy, I do want to get to me the stat of the night.
27 assists on 37 made baskets.
Wow, that's pretty good.
That's awesome, isn't it?
27 assists on 37 made baskets.
Pretty impressive.
That's another reason it makes this team fun to watch.
They share the basketball, and they've done that all year long.
All right, we've got them lined up.
up Billy who's our first caller let's start with Farmer Farmer go ahead Farmer go cats go
Yes sir oh that was it yeah hung up well
Farmer bringing it strong for our lead off hitter Farmer laid down a drag butt
To lead off the post game show the little go cats but why not you know it's 12 o
almost 1230 in the morning who's next bill
Thank you farmer Stephen Stephen Stephen go ahead Stephen
Hey Ryan this is Stephen from northern kentucky
I got two things for you.
One's a stat.
This is the four straight game Kentucky has scored over 90 points this year, which is awesome.
And two, I'll ask you because you'll know, Rick Shepard,
will he be the first Kentucky born and bred player to go in the top five of the draft?
Thank you and I'll hang up in this.
Well, that's a good question.
Because even I think Rex was number seven or eight pick?
seems to me like.
Rondo was in like 12, 13th.
No, he was like 16th.
Rondo was 16th.
Who else would we have think?
DeAngelo Russell, he was drafted pretty high.
Yeah, if Reed goes top five,
we're going to be hard to find somebody in the modern era,
born and bred in Kentucky.
Rex was eight.
Okay, Rex was eight.
Look up Allen Houston and see what he was drafted.
I'm trying to think maybe in them and DeAngelo Russell,
because I don't remember Rhondo for sure was like 16th or 17th pick overall.
11th.
Alan Houston was 11, all right.
DeAngelo Russell, then look him up real quick.
I'm pretty sure Matt Heisenbuddled didn't get drafted.
Preston LeMaster, Ravi Moss, Brandon Stockton, Josh Carrier, J.P. Blevens.
I'm sure all those guys, they did not get drafted.
to the top five rounds.
Second overall pick, DeAngelo Russell, in 2015.
There's your answer, Stephen.
DeAngelo Russell, born and bred in Kentucky in Louisville, was the number two pick.
So Rie could be the second Kentucky and bred to be in the top five.
That's pretty impressive.
I mean, you're up there with some pretty high cotton if you're up there with DeAngelo Russell, Rex Chapman, and Alan Houston,
even drafted ahead of Rondo, don't you think?
Yes, of course, Russell went to Ohio State.
So, but this was, the question was born and bred, right?
Yeah, yeah, yeah, for sure.
Okay, who's next?
Randy is next.
Randy, go ahead, Randy.
Good morning, Ryan.
Good morning, Randy.
We're driving back to Ohio, so it's, but it's a great night to drive all the way back up here with a great win.
You kind of talked about it there, the offensive explosion in the first half.
I think after the maybe the end or four timeout, there was two minutes left.
I think I looked up, they came out and hit two free throws.
It was 34 to 33.
And then they go on that spurt where all of a sudden they just go like on a 12-6 run.
It's like, holy cow.
Their offense is so explosive.
I mean, you know, you can be down and all of a sudden it's just like boom.
But the one question, too, I did have, how do we own the tiebreaker in the SEC if we lost the South Carolina?
I'll hang up and listen.
Thanks, guys.
Go catch.
Randy, you're going to give me a headache because I don't, you know,
we're going to try to figure out these tiebreakers and things.
I'm not sure.
I think.
I think it's overall win percentage is the tiebreaker, I think.
But I thought that was after head to head, so I'm not sure.
I don't know.
I mean, they've got a list of tiebreakers that are like 10 categories long.
If they're still tied, they go to this.
They're still tied to go to this.
They're still tied to go to this.
So I don't know.
Matt loves this stuff, and he'll have it all figured out for us tomorrow.
on KSR because he really likes figuring out the scenarios and what can happen and what we're
likely is to happen that sort of thing so but yeah Randy mentioned that offensive explosion
I mean it was just like he said it with two minutes to go in the half we were we were
sitting at 34 points we ended at 45 for at halftime because it was just bam bam bam bam
bam just three pointer after three point after three pointer possession after possession
after no there were so many empty possessions early then to start the half to end the half
possession they scored on it seemed like i just need you get this SEC situation
straightened out ryan you're gonna have the answers for us on ksr no no i'm gonna listen to
matt i mean it's gonna give me a headache if i try to figure this out i mean look i know i got
we're gonna be down there on wednesday we're doing our show on thursday
we're if there was a game we'll do a pregame show and then we're doing our show friday at tin roof
that's all i know i know those shows and i know when i got our be the out there that's about it
so far you just show up and perform have a show up then go
We can go to Shannon the Dude's concert on Thursday night,
and Shannon the dude's concert on Friday night.
See, Alice Blue Gown, and that's all we need to do.
Who's next, right, Billy?
Syndicate.
Syndicate.
Syndicate done.
How are you, my friend?
Hey, what's up, Ron?
How you doing, brother?
You doing, all right?
Dude, thanks for helping us out that show out there that Lockridge Park the day.
You really helped us out.
Yeah, I mean, I really appreciate that.
Hey, no problem, man.
Just a blessing to being you guys company and all you guys are doing for UK
and for all the fans.
And but you know, Ron, the game was awesome the night we won.
It's like we're coming back.
But this is something, you know, all right?
So I'm in biscuits.
You know, we have the barbecue place, right?
Oh, yeah.
So we're running out of food.
So I'm cooking brisket for tonight.
And cooked brisket is a long process.
So I'm listening to the game.
I got to thank it.
And I'm like, man, we are like normally, like last year this time, we have probably doubled our wing sales.
but what it is is
it's these, no, seriously, it's like
why do we have all these
late night nine o'clock games
like because normally if there's
six o'clock, five o'clock, we're blowing
up selling wings and I know
if our business, our little business
was doing really good during UK season,
I wonder how much it affected
a lot of other businesses in the city
with these late night games.
You know, because it's a huge
economic
impact on small businesses
on bars and everything
just coming together that fun that
excitement the whole cats
you know four or five o'clock the game's over
about eight nine o'clock you go home
but the businesses has done good
and with these nine o'clock games
it's a bunch of them
I know it's had to have it affected us
it had to affect others
syndicate man I hear you
and I feel you brother because
we feel it at KS Bar and
And fortunately, that's just the nature of the beast.
These 9 o'clock games, they try to spread them out.
And luckily this year, I think Kentucky's only had like two, 9 o'clock SEC game, maybe three.
Three.
But there was three 9 o'clock games.
But there's been some years, there have been like five, and it's been worse.
And the thing, to piggyback what you were saying, fans are so excited about this team.
I mean, Rup Arena has been packed for every SEC game.
KS. Barr has been packed for every SEC game.
And it is kind of rough on the fan base when the guy that just called Rainy,
he's got to drive back to Ohio tonight at 1230 in the morning because the game started at 9 o'clock.
Right, right.
So can I just put a charge out hopefully for March Madness, we get these early games.
Amen.
You know, I charge all the fans, go to your local restaurant, your local pub, your local business,
because they need that revenue.
And as long as Kentucky is winning, you have no clue.
the economic impact that that has on small businesses.
Yep, yep.
Preaching, syndicate.
Appreciate it, brother.
Good to see you again.
And thanks again for helping us out out there at Lockridge Park.
859-280-2287.
That's our phone number.
So, Billy, who's next?
Dave.
Dave.
Dave.
Dave.
Thanks for taking my call.
I appreciate it.
Thanks for calling in, Dave.
Yes, sir.
I just got on from the game.
And I have to say, you know, tonight, the crowd was there early,
and you could feel the energy in the room.
It was just, it was exciting.
and you just tell people really wanted these kids to send off well,
Trey Mitchell and Antonio.
It was really neat.
And also, this team is trending up in a high trajectory.
You know, I don't think anybody wants to look up in March
and see us in the bracket in the NCAA tournament.
I don't think anybody wants to see us.
I think we're really starting to gel together.
So that's what I got saying.
I'll hang up and listen.
I appreciate it, Dave.
Yeah, let's just, you know, if Kentucky plays,
ends up as a four seed.
How'd you like to be the number one seed in their bracket?
You think you've got to play that number four seed in the sweet.
16, they're staring at you right in the face.
That could be a tough matchup for you.
So, yeah, I agree.
I don't know if you heard this not a Billy, but this team is made for March.
Is that right?
Yeah, and it is, if you look at the calendar, it's March.
What's a defining characteristic of a team made for March, right?
They're made for March.
Now, I don't know what those defining characteristics are.
Okay.
But this team, Billy, is made for March.
So you just better be ready
Well, let me ask you a question.
Let me play the role of a caller here for a second.
Wait a minute.
Who's up next, Billy?
Billy and Lexington.
Billy and Lexington.
Go ahead, Billy.
Hey, Ryan.
Appreciate you staying up.
You're doing a great job tonight.
Thank you, man.
I appreciate that.
One question.
What do you think Trey Mitchell's role is on this team moving forward?
He's been slow to get to return to form.
Do you feel like he's going to be a big part of this?
Or do you feel like Kentucky's played better without him?
Billy, that's a great question.
I mean, you've got a great mind.
I'll hang up and listen.
Thank you very much.
You're a great question.
Trey Mitchell obviously is not, you know, it's going to take you a while.
That's just his second game back after he was out with the back injury and then the shoulder injury.
I mean, it's a shame these injuries happened to him at this time of the season.
He was killing it early in the year.
He was our MVP there for a while.
And then it just came in a bad time for him.
And I hate it for him.
But going forward, there's going to be a game.
Drew said this on the pregame show.
There's going to be a game in the NCAA tournament where we play a team that's rough and physical like a Tennessee,
tries to bully us around and push us around like Gonzaga did.
They're going to need Trey Mitchell.
Remember, Trey Mitchell didn't play in that loss to Tennessee at Rupp.
Trey Mitchell didn't play in the loss to Gonzaga at Rupp.
He would have made a difference in both of those games just being out there not letting them bully us around and push us around like those two teams did.
But there'll be a game, Billy.
Your great question is answered.
They're going to need that Trey Misholmigris.
His role may not be as big as it was before he got hurt,
but he's going to have a big role coming up, I believe, in March Madness.
How was that?
That was a good answer.
That was a good answer?
Yeah.
All right.
All right. We've got to take a break.
We'll take a break.
We'll come back.
Go back to the phone lines.
859-2-287.
Callers, you've been great so far.
We've got two more segments.
We need you to call in.
859-2-80-287.
If you're like Randy, driving back to Ohio or driving where to Indiana
or driving western Kentucky after the game, give us a call.
We want to hear from you.
859-9-2-8-8-8-9-2.
280, 2,287.
This is the local Toyota Dealer's KSR postgame show.
All right, welcome back.
The local Toyota dealers KSR postgame show
as the cats close out their home season
with a big win over those Vanderbilt Commodores,
9377, as once again, Jerry Stackhouse
loses the Kentucky but covers the spread in Rupp.
I don't know what it is about in Rupp,
but Vanderbill and Jerry Stackhouse
has always played Kentucky better than expected.
down the games down on Vanderbilt are different.
But you remember last year at this time, it was Senior Day,
and Kentucky was a 10-point favorite,
and Vanderbilt came in here and not only covered, they won.
And then a short week later, Kentucky played Vanderbilt again in the SEC tournament,
and Vanderbilt won.
Tonight, not the case.
Kentucky took control.
They got up by 19 there late, and then Vandy cut it to 11,
and then Kentucky finally wins it by 16 points.
So all those who bet the spread,
like me.
Not going to get KSR Parlay, Billy.
Because we had 17,
and it was a 16-point game.
We missed it by one point.
One point.
Everything else hit.
Reed 2-3-pointers.
DJ Wagner over 8.
Antonio Reeves 20 are over.
Over for the Kentucky score.
We missed the spread by one point.
The House always wins, Ryan.
The draft kings loves the KSR Parvary.
I'm going to say.
859-280-2287.
Who's up next, Billy?
Justin.
Justin.
Go ahead, Justin.
Hey, guys.
Appreciate you taking my call.
Two things.
I remember really being off the Justin Edwards train in late January,
but I just, I absolutely love the growth that he's had over the month of February up until now.
So I just think it's really cool to see, like, the progression that he's made.
He had a huge spark there in the second half, which I thought.
was just amazing.
And I don't want to try and be like too negative after a win,
but just trying to get your all thoughts on, you know,
those last four minutes in the first half when we had Reed, Reeves,
and Rob with the do and Hugo,
they go for that huge spurt and, you know, go up 45 to 40.
And then Cal doesn't start that lineup in the second half,
and they go stagnant for the first two minutes.
So I don't know if, I don't know if there's like a better way to do it
or, you know, I just feel like that lineup
that end in the first half was really strong
and I don't know why, like, he refuses
not to, you know, start that in the second
after keep that momentum going, you know?
Appreciate Justin, yeah, thanks for the phone call.
Listen, we would all give ourselves migraines.
We tried to figure out Cal's substitution patterns
and why he plays people sometimes the way he plays them.
But that's just his MO, the starting five,
his guy's starting five, he's going to stay with the starting five,
and those same starters start the second half.
He goes right back to him.
You're right.
The guys that ended the first half were playing lights out.
We just talked about how they lit up the scoreboard
and scored like 15 points in two and a half minutes or something like that.
It was close to that.
They should have probably just carried over.
But no, he went back to the starters because he's trying to keep them involved
and keep them going in case they need him.
But to back up your point, the fact he did that
did allow Justin Edwards to go off.
He had the first eight points at the second half.
Justin Edwards, Billy, has become yoga girls' favorite player.
Oh, is that right?
Because her heart hurt for him when he was down, and, you know, they show him on the bench,
and he looked like he was about to cry, and he was just struggling.
You could tell it was mentally.
It's nothing.
Physically, the guy can play, and then he talked openly about trying to see a sports psychologist
and things like that.
So he has become yoga girl's favorite player, and so when he started the second half,
she literally yelled and clapped out loud.
Like we were sitting in the living room watching the game.
She clapped out loud when he hit those three.
She was so excited to see him, you know, succeed now.
I love to hear that.
Do you think that he played his last game in Ruff Arena?
Oh, that's a great question.
Okay, take the seniors aside.
Who else played their last game at Ruff?
Rob Dillingham, you say yes or no?
Yes.
Reed Shepard.
Yes.
D.J. Wagner.
Yes.
Aaron Bradshaw.
Yes.
Justin Edwards.
Yes.
Wow, so you think all five of them are gone?
I do.
I do, honestly.
I mean, do you disagree with any of those?
I don't.
The only one, the only one I could see maybe coming back, I think, would be Bradshaw.
Because I think he went from a lottery pick to where he may not even get drafted or late in the second round.
And I think if he comes back, he could be the guy.
You know who we forgot?
About Big Z.
Yeah, yeah, I think he's gone, too.
So there's six.
You picked all six freshmen or out of here.
And that's, I don't know.
I mean, the coach is going to tell them to go if they can make money, right?
I mean, that's part of his M.O.
But I don't know.
Maybe there are some guys that should stay.
And you've heard Matt say this for years.
Just assume they're all going.
Just get it in your mind and your heart.
They're all leaving.
So when one comes back, it's a pleasant surprise.
You're happy.
But don't be surprised if they all go.
I kind of agree with you.
They may all be out of here.
Who's next, Billy?
We've got some ladies on the line.
Let's go through.
with the ladies.
Rachel's next.
Rachel, go ahead, Rachel.
Hello, Rachel.
Sorry.
There we go.
Great game tonight.
It was a good game.
Yeah.
So, Gillingham definitely carried us through the second half, of course.
And I saw that Reeves had a 20-point game, good game for his last game.
I was definitely sad to see him go or be going.
My question was, do you know why?
Canada didn't play Brennan?
Well, he
opted not to do the senior day
activities and be in the starting lineup
because he did that last year. He went through the
Senior Day festivities last year and started
and then throughout the course
of the game, you know, there wasn't a position to put him in
but that's why he didn't go through because
he did it last year. He just came back for another
season. Okay, thank you. I just, can I say
one more thing? Well, sure, Rachel, whatever you want.
All right, the first caller was my husband, who is
in the other room, and all he said was go cats.
So this is kind of a shout-out to him to actually use the knowledge that I know he has
to call in and say some of that.
So, unironically, go-cats, and thank you all.
Wait a minute, whoa, ho, hold.
Don't you hang up, Rachel.
So Farmer is your husband, the guy that called them, just said, go-cats and hung up?
Yes, he is.
Well, Billy made him the call of the day.
It was such an inspirational call.
We all got so excited about it.
He loves it.
That's the thing.
Like, we listen to your show religiously, which wasn't a thing for me until
quarantine started.
And so it's been our way to connect and get, like, really into sports.
And so he's like, I got a call.
I got a call.
And then I can hear him from the other room.
And he's just like, go cats.
And I'm like, you've got to be kidding me.
Like, this can not be real life.
Yeah, he nailed it.
He did such a great.
He's a man that has told me all the rules in basketball.
So, anyways, I'm like, you know what?
I'm going to one-up you on this.
Yes.
And I'm going to rub it in your face.
Absolutely.
Rub it in his face.
Matter of fact, make him sleep on the couch tonight and eat bologna sandwiches tomorrow
for dinner after that, after he did that to you.
All right.
Well, thank you all so much.
Thank you.
I really appreciate it.
I appreciate you.
All right.
Thanks.
Well, Billy, that explains what the farmer phone call.
was just go cats and hang up.
That's all, you know, it's all he needed to say.
Yeah, and you relegated him to the couch and to the bologna sandwich.
Yeah, well, after Rachel, obviously, she was embarrassed by it.
I think, you know, she has the power, so she's like, hey, man, go sleep on the couch tonight.
I'm going to sleep in the bed by myself.
She has that.
Who's next?
Heather.
Heather.
Heather. Go ahead, Heather.
Well, I think that the bologna sandwich is round.
I mean, that wouldn't be a punishment for me.
I mean, I love fried blown.
sandwiches here in Pike County.
I grew up eating bologna and cheese sandwiches.
Absolutely.
I love a bologna sandwich.
Definitely.
She just coming through her husband right under the bus.
So you're Pike County, Kentucky.
I'm Pike County, Indiana.
Right.
Yeah.
Uh-huh.
I think my Pike County wins.
Well, you're a lot bigger, that's for sure, my little county.
I ain't never talked to you without Matt being on here.
So that's why I wanted to point out that I was in Pike County.
Yeah.
We've met before.
You came to one of our shows in the parking lot of some store there where Matt bought everybody's water that one day.
It was so hot.
Yeah, that was just one of them.
I've come to all of them in Pikeville because I've been leasing them for about 11, 12 years now.
But that one was at the Kmart parking lot.
Yes, that's right.
And I got pictures with you, though, at the B-dubs.
Oh, yeah.
Impactful.
Yes, you had a big crowd there a couple times.
The first one I came to was at that bank, 253.
Cool.
Yeah, I've had some rough nights there, too, late nights.
I've heard.
Yeah.
I miss you guys coming to Pikesville, though.
Well, we back again.
What do you got for us tonight?
Well, one of my favorite things,
to watch during the game is when Reed does those chest passes.
Did you see the one like he done pretty much from out of bounds and like
chest pass all the way down to the other end of the court tonight?
Dude, it's like he's a freak.
That kind of pass from a chess pass on a dime, on a dime.
He can just zip it down the court.
It's freaking crazy.
Yep, yep, it really is.
And then the other little thing I like is they kind of have got Dealey
passing the little just in the lane to Z for a dunk they've got that down pat now yep yeah it's fun
to watch their little two-man game that they've developed when they're two both over in there so
well thank you Heather I'm glad you called I appreciate you calling in tonight have a good and go
okay all right 859-2802287 we should we get one more before we go to break Billy or go to a break
let's get two more oh okay we get two more who we got Tracy Tracy go ahead Tracy
Ryan. How are you doing? Hello, Tracy. How are you? I just can't get that Pockville accent out of my head right now, but I'm going to try.
There's something awesome about it. I got to admit, you know, I didn't grow up in East Kentucky, but I've been around East Kentucky people for a long time.
There's something special about that accent. There is. I'm Southern Indiana, so we're all good.
Where at? I'm in Sellersburg.
All right. See, I grew up around Jasper and Washington over there in Pike County.
Yes. Not too far. Not too far. We're like right across from Louisville, so it's okay.
I have nothing negative to say. Like this team this year, all year, I have told my husband there is no one on this team that I don't love.
I'm in love with every single player.
Typically, that's not the case.
But I don't know what this year is,
but this year is the only year
and I've been a Kentucky fan all my life.
I have never loved every single player.
And they're jelling at the right time.
They're all just amazing.
Yeah.
And I just wanted to say that.
Tracy, thank you.
Appreciate you calling.
Good night.
I think she says something that most fans feel they love this team,
and I think it's because they love each other.
You can tell they like each other.
They enjoy playing with each other.
They're good teammates with each other.
And I think that's been reflective in the fan base.
Every home game in the SEC tournament and then the SEC season at Rupp has been packed.
I mean, packed.
Last couple years, you know, the end zone, upper-level end zones have been empty.
and a lot of our KSR shows talk about
about how the crowd's just not going anymore
and the crowds are down.
Not this year, buddy.
It's awesome.
And I think it's because they love this team.
They love these guys.
And like Tracy said, every one of them.
You're kind of like, even Corrine Watkins
had a huge ovation tonight when he got announced
and even came out today.
Talk to Jack Givens on the post game show.
So I read what you said.
Got a rebound.
You know, I think, I may be wrong about this,
but I think he went his entire career
without scoring a single point.
I don't think he scored.
I mean, he got at the end of some games,
but I don't think he scored,
and that kind of upsets me.
I wish he at least got a free throw or something,
but I'm pretty sure he didn't.
All right, we're going to squeeze another one in for the break?
Yeah, we'll get one more in.
All right, who is it?
O-Dog.
O-Dog.
Oh, dog.
Go ahead, O-Dog.
Hey, how's it going tonight, Ryan?
I'm on I-64 eastbound,
just about to Mount Sterling,
and I'm headed towards Flemingburg.
Ah, going back from the game tonight, I guess?
Yes, sir.
Yeah.
got two things.
My first thing, it's about the tiebreaker.
I don't know if y'all've got that cleared up.
Please help us because it's a hard town.
I need a protractor.
Okay.
So I believe the situation we're going to be in after we beat Tennessee on Saturday is it's going
to be, I believe three teams tied at, what is it, 13 and 5 or whatever the records
are going to be.
So it takes the combined winning percentages against that one seed, and I believe we would
hold that tiebreaker and they'd put us into the 5'4 seed.
So the 1C would beat Tennessee.
Yeah, oh, I see.
Okay.
So if Kentucky beats Tennessee on Saturday,
that would give them the percentage tiebreaker against the other teams?
I believe so.
And then after that, it moves down to the two-seat and so on.
So my second thing, I had a big, big bet on draft Kings now about Kentucky over 43 and a half
in the first half, and I was sweating it there, you know.
At the under four timeout, I texted in my buddies group chat,
And I was like this four three and a half is cooked.
Like I needed, I don't know, 15 points or whatever.
Yeah.
All of a sudden, all the time out, there goes Rob on that run.
He scores 12 straight, and we end up making four threes on our last four possessions.
So that was great.
There you go.
Cashing in, stop on the Mount Sterling exit, the Jerry's.
Is Jerry still open there and get you a Jay Boy and celebrate tonight?
So.
Not all right.
I don't know.
Oh, they closed the Jerry's in Mount Sterling?
I think so.
Bummer.
So why don't want it the only Jerry's around here?
There's one in Paris.
I think it might still be open.
That might be the last one.
Yeah.
All right.
O'Daw, we appreciate it.
Be careful going on the rest of the way home.
We'll take our final break.
Come back our final segment.
859-280-2287.
The local total leader's KSR post-game show, Ryan and Billy.
We'll be right back.
All right, welcome back.
Final segment, local toilet dealers KSR post-game show.
Ryan and Billy here with you.
859-280-2287.
Got a text I want to read you, though, Billy.
I'm going to read it exactly the way it came in.
All right.
Hey, Ryan.
I can't call.
but I can say this,
raw freaking Dillingham.
And if this team can ever put together a full 40 minutes consistently,
watch the freak out.
They play to the level of their competition,
which worries me sometimes,
but they can beat anybody.
I'm afraid to get my hopes up and be let down,
but fart it,
beat those low-down dirty inside the pumpkin puke-orange snitches.
Wow, that was verbatim.
That was verbatim.
That was what they texted.
Exactly the way it came in.
Jerry Stackhouse compared Rob Dillingham to Kyrie Irving.
today.
You know,
I'm not going to laugh because Jerry Stackhouse
played 18 years in the NBA.
He knows what he's talking about.
Now,
the Kyrie comparison would be when
Kyrie was probably at Duke,
not the Kyrie of today
that most people were going to compare him with,
but maybe the Kyrie at Duke, maybe that's
Stackhouse played at North Carolina.
Irving played at Duke, so he
knows, he knows, so I'm not
I'm going to just agree with him, said he knows what he's talking about.
What do you think?
I mean, I've got no reason to say he's in the wrong.
He knows more about it than I do.
That's right.
He sure does.
All right, we got five guys on the line and five gals, five gals and girls, girls and guys and gals,
combination of everybody.
So who's up next?
Ellis.
Ellis, go ahead, Ellis.
Top of the morning, fellas.
Top of the morning.
Do you, Ellis?
I have general comments about,
the game but also by like this season as a whole tonight was a solid win this team used to
ball watch and just do stupid things on defense and now they figured it out oh no and they can
they can fill it up they can fill it up in general can you all hear me yeah you dropped out
there for just a second but go ahead you dropped rime but we're oh it was me sorry oh okay i was just
this this team used to struggle so much in defense and it quickly improved over the last couple
weeks and they can still fill it up.
Tennessee has the one C, we all know that, but we have pride to play for.
So if we can beat them there, we can win it all, hands down.
You know, there's the fourth or fifth team is what, from that point down, everybody has
six losses or more and the top three teams have three.
Like, this thing's wide open.
Yeah.
So we go to Tennessee.
We win.
Rob Dilley, him is the man.
Shepard does his thing.
We ball out.
We got a shot at number nine.
Ellis, we appreciate it.
You know, he brought up a good point.
They don't do as much ball watching as they used to.
Now, they still get beat on defense quite a bit.
That Mannion dude was just beating our guys off the dribble all night long.
He's tough.
They still make a lot of defensive mistakes, but Ellis is right.
They don't do as much ball watching, I think, as they were doing even, you know, a couple weeks ago,
a month ago.
So maybe they're finally starting to catch on a little bit.
Basic defensive principles.
And, Billy, you hear this.
I love it when Jack, when we make a defensive mistake.
because Jack tries to hold it in, but he's like, just basic defensive principles.
That's all he'll say.
He won't say, you know, how bad they did.
They'll just say, man, you got to just have basic defensive principles.
He says that a lot.
He does.
You can feel the enthusiasm in his voice.
Yeah.
I've loved it all year.
All right.
Who's next?
Jamie.
Jamie.
Jamie.
Go ahead, Jamie.
Oh, Jamie.
It means it's my turn.
It's your turn, Jamie.
Well, this is Jamie from Northern Kentucky, Ryan.
And I'm also a wife calling to snitch on her husband, Stephen from Northern Kentucky, who was your second caller.
Yes.
But first, I want to snitch on Billy because he gets real unoriginal at this time of night.
I love you, Billy.
Listen to every show, just like I do with the main show.
But I mean, I guess you can't be much more than, well, I'm awake.
That's the same thing you said with Stephen.
Well, I at least asked you how you were doing.
So next time I'll just put you on home.
You did.
Hey, that's what Shannon does.
That's true.
But anyway, Stephen messed up the stat.
So I wanted to call in and correct that stat.
The fun thing about Reeb for us is he did say born and bred Kinseki player,
but the exciting part about it is that he's born and bred.
And he attends the University of Kentucky.
Yes.
And so, you know, look, I, there's, there are guys from all over the world that have made Kentucky
basketball what it is, and made it great.
And I, you know, I've been a fan since I came out of the womb.
I literally have pictures, you know, just like a lot of us, Kentucky fans, you know, as babies,
with UK binkies or, you know, a little UK cheerleading outfits or whatever, you know.
But very, very few of them, especially in modern basketball, have been Kentucky boys.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And so, yeah, for him to know what that means, and I mean, like, really no, because his mom and dad played here.
Sure.
And he grew up here.
And he, you know, they all kind of get it by the time they leave here, even in their short amount of time.
but like he really knows.
Yep.
And that's so special.
Jamie, appreciate it.
Thank you very much.
Appreciate the phone call.
Be careful if you guys are already home yet.
Just be careful.
So Billy, I guess then Reed would be the highest Kentucky born and bred player
that actually played at Kentucky since Rex Chapman.
Rex was like seven or eight, would you say?
Uh-huh.
Yep.
So if Reed goes, Reed could be the highest Kentucky born and bred.
player in the modern era to get drafted that played at Kentucky.
There's not another one.
Derek Anderson, he didn't get drafted in the top eight, I don't think.
I can't remember where he got drafted.
I'm just surprised I'm getting called out for asking people how they're doing later
night.
Yeah, Billy, be a little more personal against the phone call.
Be a little bit more original at 1 a.m.
Okay, so what do you, so who's next?
Who is this next?
I don't know.
Let's go to, uh,
How about Jake?
Jake, Jake, what did Billy say to you when he answered the phone?
Well, first I want to thank Billy for taking my call.
There you go, Jake.
And for you being a great co-host, right?
There we go.
Jake scored all kinds of points.
Anyways, I wanted to see, well, you're a confidence level of this
and you're usually the most confident one in another bunch
of how they will end up in the tournament
if they win the whole thing this year.
Jake, appreciate it.
All right, Billy.
You'll put it on, you know, here it is, it's 12, whatever.
At 1 o'clock, it's 1.10 and the 1.15 in the morning.
Yeah.
I'm going to say it right now, and I want you, then you can break your prediction.
Kentucky's going to the Final Four.
I can just tell you.
I can just tell you they're going to the Final Four this year.
There's just too many things that have happened and are happening that are going to the final four.
And you don't know why?
I know they're going to the final four?
Why is that?
Because I'm supposed to be at Panama City Beach that weekend of the final four for spring break with my kid.
And I know it would get canceled because Kentucky's going to the final four in Phoenix.
Ah, the old hedge.
Yep.
Well, I just wrote it down.
11.m.
Ryan says UK to the final four.
Yeah.
Where are you predicting now?
Where is your confidence level?
I mean, I'm confident, man.
But there's the question of can they outscore six opponents in a row like that, you know?
I mean, you're going to have to play good defense in one of these games.
And they've shown that.
They scored 70 in a win over Auburn and 63 in a win over Arkansas.
So it's in them.
I'm going to be nervous about those first two games, though.
Oh, no, yeah, especially they're playing St. John's in the first round game.
Rick Bettino or Duke or something like that.
like the pathways we've seen.
I don't know if I'm ready to say Final Four,
but there's definitely a different feeling around this team
than we had with maybe Oscars 2 and
Saviur being around and, you know,
nothing wrong to those guys,
but they just can't score at the level that these guys can.
The 2020 team that didn't get to play in the tournament because of COVID,
about this time in March,
I'm thinking of myself, man, this team is as good as anybody in the country.
I know they were just playing their best basketball
right then.
And I felt like if that tournament would have been played,
that team could have gone to the Final Four.
I'm kind of feeling that way about this team right now.
I really am.
So we'll just see what happened.
All right.
Vinnie Hardy just told me DA got drafted 13th.
So Rex is still a highest Kentucky kid to play to Kentucky we know of so far.
Reed could beat that.
Who's next, Billy?
Genet.
Genet.
Genet is next.
Genet.
Gen May.
Gen May.
Not Genay.
Jen May.
Jenay.
How's it going, guys?
How are you doing, Jen May?
Oh, great.
I had the greatest night in my life, so Mike Muncie, my boyfriend,
like, he took me out to the game.
I've been a UK fan my whole life,
and we went to KSR Bar and watched the pregame show.
Nice.
Got to meet Bryce and shake his hand.
That was fantastic.
Bryce, Camden, the Louisville Firefighter,
the hero, was at KS Bar for the pregame show,
and then got to sit in the second role with the game tonight.
So you got to meet him when you were there?
Yeah, it was fantastic.
Very cool.
We drove from Louisville.
Yeah, me and Mike, we drove from Louisville and see the game.
I've never been to Ruff Arena before,
and I've been a UK fan my whole life,
so it's like the best night of my life to get to hang out with you guys
and go to the game.
Well, I feel like you were their difference.
I feel like you were the reason.
You were the good luck charm,
so you can't let this be your only time you're going to come to KS.
Bar and do a game.
Oh, no, for sure.
I will definitely be back.
Awesome, awesome.
Thank you, Jen May.
We appreciate it.
I was hoping her name was Gen A
so we could do our little Forrest Gump routine with her.
Ryan, I asked her three times what her name was,
and she said Jenae each time.
And I said, like Forrest Gump, she said yes.
Jen May.
Gen May, not Jinn A.
And Jeney.
I love you, Jenae.
All right.
Is this going to be our last caller?
Yes, it is.
Okay, who is it?
James.
James.
Go ahead, James.
Wow, this is a lot of pressure, but I think I can handle it.
Okay.
Finish strong.
Yeah, first, I just want to give a shout out to a longtime listener.
Michael May, he hooked me up with some tickets tonight, so I was able to go to the game.
Wait a minute.
Is that Jen May's boyfriend, Mike May?
No, no.
Because she just said her boyfriend, Mike, took her to the game, and then you just said that Mike gave you tickets to the game.
No, completely different Mike.
Okay.
Okay.
There's not more than one, Mike.
Yeah.
Okay, Mike May. Can't be born than too many Mike Mays.
No. But yeah, I was able to take my little brother, and it was the first time me and him have gone to a game together.
So that was a moment. It was a lot of fun. Great energy.
Got to give a shout out to the National Anthem and my old Kentucky home singer.
They were absolutely phenomenal. Brought the house down, gave me chills and was really emotional.
But overall, great game, great experience. Way to finish the season.
And I just want to give my appreciation to YouTube for being up this.
this late because oh my gosh this is nuts james we appreciate it it's good to hear that about you know
because senior night is a special night and it's good when it the crowd is into it you know the
national anthem the my old kentucky home giving you chills i mean you had to think the magic was
in the air and then they get the win to put a bow and a ribbon on this home season this year i mean
that's it dude billy we don't have another home event until september when the football team
takes the field. I'll talk about basketball or football. No more home games. That's it until September,
and they walked away with a win, unlike last year where Vanderbilt beat him on senior day.
Yeah, maybe they'll have that new court installed for next season in time. Let's don't get crazy now.
Let's don't get crazy. All right, we'll be back again in the morning. Billy's got the pre-show.
By the way, a little tip of the cat to Billy. He ran the board for the UK women's game,
the UK baseball game, and the UK men's game. He did our pre-game show. He did our post.
Post-game show, and he did the KSR pre-show at 9 o'clock this morning.
Billy, you don't get paid enough, Billy, for days like today.
So if I had some extra cash, I'd give it to you, but I don't.
Well, this is March.
You got to expect that.
And shout out to Gus, who helped with the baseball game.
So we'll see everybody in the morning.
Billy is on the pre-show.
I'll be on KSR, and this has been the local total leaders' KSR post-game show.
We'll see you next time.

What?
Come on out.
Quarterback on office blue 42.
Hey, rec, my mama want you to wave at her.
