Starting point is 00:00:00 This is an I-Heart podcast. Guaranteed Human. NFL Cover Zero with Matt Jones and Drew Franklin is a production of the NFL and IHeart podcast. It is day two of NFL cover zero here at the Super Bowl in San Francisco live on Radio Row. Once again, not live. I always say that, but we are live to tape on Radio Row here in an absolutely packed environment. It's Thursday. And Drew Franklin, I'm made.
Starting point is 00:00:40 Matt Jones. Billy R. Sports is joining us. We just got onto this new set they have here where the workaholics were just a few minutes ago. It's kind of exciting, isn't it? Have workaholics followed by us? I feel very unworthy here, but they told us in the email the chairs would be comfy and they did not disappoint. Yeah, it's been very exciting. We just a few minutes ago ran into Billy's nemesis, which is Kirk Herb Street's dog. Billy is like the only person in the United States that does not like Kirk Herb Street's dog. He was at the NFL network set right next to us and he got his own chair,
Starting point is 00:01:19 which for a lot of this trip, Billy has not even gotten his own chair. What did you think about getting to see Kirk Herb Street's dog right up closer? About as I expected, just running around without a leash. Not a care in the world. But that's good, though. A dog is free and out in the public.
Starting point is 00:01:35 I want a little bit more control of that. dog but um he got into the chair and i had to roll my eyes a little bit well i saw kirk is actually pushing him in around around in a wagon now so he's not on foot kurt has like a wagon well he ran away yeah did you see that there was it just went wild kirk harb street's dog it was a runaway and i think people were getting very nervous because you do not want to be the person who injures kirk herb street's dog because i think billy would have been the number one suspect oh i definitely probably would have I love dogs, though, but that thing gets pampered more than I do. Nice cut, nice quarter zip here.
Starting point is 00:02:07 You're going with the brown today. The brown. Reversible blue. Under. Yeah. So we're ready to go. I look at, where did you get that, by the way. Johnson and Murphy is where I get the reserve.
Starting point is 00:02:16 Oh, that's a good, that is a good brand. So you brought out the good stuff here. Steve Madden shoes, too. I mean, we're lounging today, baby. Is this? Wait a minute. So what are you wearing? Hang on just a sec.
Starting point is 00:02:25 Steve Madden shoes. What do you know about that? I don't know a lot. Very impressive. So we are just. Just three days away from the Super Bowl, the energy really amps up on Thursday. There are a lot of, there's a lot of parties tonight. I heard the tight ends party is tonight.
Starting point is 00:02:45 We are not invited to the tight ends party. I saw one of our friends at Draft Kings, and I was like, she was like, oh, going to the tight ends party. And I was like, man, sounds like that'd be fun. Who wouldn't love to go to the tight ends party kind of hoping? Well, let's not give up. In fifth grade, I was tied in for the West Broadway Bobcats. I have photo proof.
Starting point is 00:03:06 I'm mostly blocked. Zero touchdowns. Don't remember a catch. But I do have tied in on my resume if I need to bring that to the event tonight to get in. Yes. And actually, Tony Gonzalez, I think, was just here a couple minutes ago, one of the best tight ends of all time. For those of you that listened yesterday, we put on the podcast that we would have, Sean Alexander. That interview ended up not being able to be on there.
Starting point is 00:03:30 He will be, we're going to play that here to start our day two show. Plus, we also are going to have bussing with the boys. Are you excited to go bus it? Big Titans guy. I'm going to try not to fan out, but I remember when they started that podcast. I'm one of their first followers. So, yes, very excited. You were one of the first followers?
Starting point is 00:03:46 Yeah, I remember when they first even came up with the concept of the bus. So I've been keeping up with them that long. Oh, well, don't embarrass me. I won't. But I am very excited. They seem like great guys. Hope that holds up in person. It's a former Titan, too.
Starting point is 00:03:58 So I know he's going to love that. A couple of Titans up. You should tell him about Tony Dungy and how excited he was to meet you. We've talked about most people in this building think you're Jeff Saturday. That has happened quite a bit. So I was thinking maybe tomorrow you should wear Colts gear and essentially make people think you're Jeff Saturday. How many radio shows do you think Drew could get on from across the country acting like he's Jeff Saturday?
Starting point is 00:04:26 At first I thought it was just ha ha, funny bit. But then some of the people working with NFL over here, one of them, he called me Jeff Saturday. And we thought he was talking about a reference from earlier. He just came up with that on his own. Like, I'm getting it from people that are part of the league thinking I'm Jeff Saturday. I'll just tell you how well you're known in the NFL world if they're calling you Jeff Saturday, too. What do you think it is? I mean, is it the salt and pepper and the beard?
Starting point is 00:04:51 It's the beard. It's the beard. It's the beard. It's not the muscles. I promise you it's not the muscles. eyes. Jeff Saturday lost a bunch of weight when he stopped playing football. I gained weight. We met the middle.
Starting point is 00:05:02 I was like I'll meet you around 240, 250. I think all of those things. And even though he's not, he wears a hat most of time now, similar hair as well, Billy. So I can see it. A little curly on Jeff. So maybe Drew get some curls. I think you can get on at least one show as Jeff Saturday.
Starting point is 00:05:18 I'm in for the bid. I don't love the idea of wearing cold skier, but anything for our cover zero fun here. The Seahawks and Patriots, three days away. I've started to see the fans descend here for, for Seahawks and Patriots. I feel like kind of an even split so far, but if you're a Seattle fan, you're a lot closer. So I wonder if as we get closer, you'll see even more Seattle fans. Because right now, I think in the city walking around, it's about 50-50.
Starting point is 00:05:46 Yeah, they'll get here at the 12s, as we know, to be called. We learned about the 12s. Yeah, I expect good crowds from both. I think Seattle have the edge just because of geography, but both paths. at fan bases that have been here before and kind of wanting to restart some dynasties this this weekend. And a former patriot, Joe Milton, is also going to be joining the show today. Joe Milton played at Tennessee. I am going to try to throw him off because I am of the opinion that Rocky Top, which
Starting point is 00:06:17 Tennessee fans, they hold deer. They're like, Rocky Top, we love it. I'm going to say that the players all hate it. So I'm going to go ahead and give you a little hint of what I'm going to do with Joe Millen gets here. I'm going to ask him to sing Rocky Top, and we will see if he'll be able to do it. Okay. He was only, you know, he started at Michigan. He wasn't there very long.
Starting point is 00:06:36 He's kind of like one of the portal guys that bounced around. But he was there for, what, a year? He had a heck of an arm. I would say Joe Milton's got one of the strongest arms, maybe in all the football. I think he can throw it like over the mountain. Oh, he's got a cannon. But I'd say most athletes know their fight song before the Transfer Portal era. Nowadays, I mean, you're going from school to school.
Starting point is 00:06:55 You probably don't learn it as much? I don't think so. Oh, I think so. Okay, do you know, I mean, we're Kentucky fans. Do you know, well, you went to Western. Yeah. Kentucky. Do you know the Western Kentucky?
Starting point is 00:07:07 Stand up and cheer for dear old Western. For today we raise the red and white above the rest. Ra, rah, rah, rah. That's pretty good. All right. I didn't even go there and I knew it. Oh, well, I did not. And then we're also going to finish with Bryce Young.
Starting point is 00:07:23 I'm excited to see Bryce Young's height vis-a-vis us because everybody always talks about him being a short quarterback, but I wonder if that's actually true in person. I want to see that. And we kind of unintentionally became Panther supporters throughout the year. Honestly, if there were a team we talked about the most, you know, I'd say there's an argument. I think there's an, if you had bet in the preseason, NFL cover zero season one, what is going to be the team they talk about the most? I think you would have gotten pretty good money on the Panthers
Starting point is 00:07:54 because I think we did talk more Panthers than almost anything else. The podcast, Mike, them turning it around. They came up so much. It would be good to have Bryce's to put a little cherry on top of the season here at Super Bowl. And then so we're going to have all of those folks and then we will check in after that. Some of these interviews, there's been spaced out over a period of time. So there'll be little gaps. Do you have a lien right now on the actual?
Starting point is 00:08:21 Super Bowl. I think the Seahawks are going to get it done, but if you want to talk about the four and a half points, I worry. Has it moved? Has it moved? I wondered if maybe it was going to go up to five and a half or even six, has not moved. Patriots need to get the run going a little bit. I think we're going to have a close game, but I just think Seattle's too balanced. I mean, that defense is great. Then, of course, the offense, we know all about them with Jackson Smith and Jigba. I think they get it done, but I don't think we're going to have any kind of blowout. I think Patriots are going to be in it. What do you make, of course, Tom Brady, the owner of the Raiders saying he has no preference in the Super Bowl,
Starting point is 00:08:58 even though he played for the Patriots and played an eight and one six. First of all, do you believe him? And secondly, if we take him at face value, is that okay to have no preference in the Super Bowl? This would crush me as a Boston fan. Like my goat, my idol is sitting there basically saying he doesn't care about me. It is a little bit like, okay, yes, we had good memories, but I've now, I've met a new person in Vegas, and she has caught my eye, and I'm going to act like I don't care.
Starting point is 00:09:30 I mean, there was a little. So first of all, let's start with that. Do you, do you believe? Yes, I do believe him. I mean, you do believe that he doesn't care. It's all out there about a little falling out with Bill. Doesn't have much relationship with craft. I mean, sure he's friends with Gronk and those guys, but I kind of believe him.
Starting point is 00:09:45 I kind of take him on what he's saying here. Which would I think I don't. I'd like my heart if I was a Pat's fan. No, that's the political answer he's giving as a broadcast. and a part owner now. He won six Super Bowls there. Of course he wants the Patriot to win. So you think he's doing it because he believes that broadcasters shouldn't have buys.
Starting point is 00:10:03 Correct. You can't be rooting for teams, especially as a broadcaster or a part owner. No, NBC's calling this one. So he doesn't have to call this one. Correct. So I just, I think that's crazy. It's like politicians talking. Okay, so let's, though, give him the benefit of the doubt.
Starting point is 00:10:18 And let's say that he does, doesn't care who wins. you're a Patriots fan. How much does that stab you in the soul? Let's use an example of your own life. Think of your favorite team. Think of your favorite player that you grew up watching. They probably had a lot of success. And then imagine one day, they're like, yeah, I don't really care either way if they're any good.
Starting point is 00:10:37 I mean, that would suck. It would. Because fans invest so much in it. And you can't even be like, yeah, I hope they win a Super Bowl over Seattle. I was just over there a minute ago, and I saw Donovan Nab, and he said Fly Eagle Fly. to just some random person. And I think that's what people want. They want to think that Donovan McNabb is walking around telling strangers fly eagle fly.
Starting point is 00:11:02 They don't want to think that they say, who's playing Philadelphia? We talked about it yesterday with Stevie Johnson just coming here rocking Bill's gear. And he talks bills all the time. Yeah, people love that camaraderie with their former players. And Tom had a moment there. I know he's a broadcast or whatever. If he had said he's leaning New England because his memory's there, no one would have had a problem with that.
Starting point is 00:11:21 He didn't do it. He did not do it. Now, let's talk about the most famous person I've seen here on Press Row. Who ended up having the biggest crowd? I'm going to rank for you from five to one, the people that people have seen the most excited to see. Okay, who has drawn the biggest crowd? Are we ready for the Matt Jones top five people to draw crowds at Meteorov? Big names coming up.
Starting point is 00:11:48 Okay, here we go. Number five, Shannon Sharve. Shannon Sharp is actually towards the front. He is Shee Shea, as they say. And he has been up there. He's actually positioned kind of in a tough spot for them because it's like when you walk in. And so it feels like Shannon Sharp, he has a lot of people. They tend to watch and then leave, not obsessive, but Shannon Sharp does draw quite a couple.
Starting point is 00:12:14 And they got a bump, the Mario bump, because when we walked in, Mario just mowed over everyone in TV sets to get to the club, Shee She sets. He was very excited about that. Are we ready for number four? Number four, I'm going to say Kay Adams. Kay Adams had quite a crowd as she was taping her show. A lot of people, I think if you're not in this, you know, it's easy because I think there's on the Fandual Network to not see her, but she has a massive following. And as she walked like little puppy dogs, people were walking with.
Starting point is 00:12:47 And funny enough, Mario was knocking down people yesterday trying to see Kay. and get a closer look. Yes, so that one's on there now. Number three, I'm going to say Pat McAfee. A ton of people crowding around his set during the break. Everyone trying to wave at him because he actually will wave back. I've learned maybe it's good in life just to occasionally wave back because it makes people excited.
Starting point is 00:13:10 So Pat McAfee is at number three. They've done a good job of being taller than the others. So like I know exactly where the Pat McAfee set is when I walk in. It's good PR on their part. I mean, you can see it from across the building here. All the others kind of level, a little hidden. They've kind of commanded a big stage over there. I'm going to do two, a tie.
Starting point is 00:13:27 Okay. A tie between Martha Stewart and Stephen A. Smith. Two people that would have a good show together if they ever put a. Martha Stewart, every woman in here is just like Martha Stewart, you're slaying. Slaying. Okay. Yes. She looks, first of all, how old is Martha Stewart?
Starting point is 00:13:49 I'm going to say. Honestly, you could tell me any age because first of all, she looks no older than like 55. I'm going to say 75, Bob. But she looks amazing. So everywhere, I've seen her in two or three different places, and people all say the same thing. Oh, my goodness, she looks amazing. How old is she? And people guess, like 88.
Starting point is 00:14:11 And I don't know if she is or not. And to still be able to look like that, you've got to give her credit. She's 44, 84. 84. She was 44. She's younger than me. She's, uh, she's 84 years old. Oh, Martha.
Starting point is 00:14:25 Let me just say, Slay girl. I guess. I would hit the flame emoji right now if I could. Did you see that picture I said? I mean, she looks better now than she did when she had the, what was the TV show,
Starting point is 00:14:38 the Martha, Martha's cooking stuff for people. Home goods or something. Yeah, Martha's Home goods. I also have to compliment her. You know, sports media, a lot of quarter zips. Former athletes. She's a lot of athletic work.
Starting point is 00:14:50 There's like an elegance where she's walking around. Yes. She's bringing a presence that we don't have from anyone else here. But the number one, by far, most popular person here at Super Bowl Media Row, Radio Row. And it is not close. Is the crocodile hunter's kid? What's his name? Is it Robert?
Starting point is 00:15:11 Robert. Robert Irwin. Robert Irwin. He is, first of all, I think he's like 22 years old. Now, he's also helped that he's walking around with a son. snake around his neck okay so that's so it's a combination maybe a tie with Steve Irwin Steve Irwin Robert Steve was his dad Steve was his dad and the snake but again women who knew did so does he duck when did he get famous and how well he's a heart throb and I think he's at like the
Starting point is 00:15:39 Australia zoo doing shows you know following in his dad's legacy but why is he famous how do everyone dancing with the star yeah that too oh he was on did he win he was in the running I didn't keep it. No spoilers if you know. He won. Look at that. Oh, first of all, how do you know, Vince? I just said Vince did not touch his computer. Vince, did you just see?
Starting point is 00:16:00 Vince, I've never seen you when you weren't talking to me about technology. You also do Vintzy with the Stars. I didn't realize that. But he has been without question the person that people seem to be the most excited about. I could even tell you, even my wife, she like sends me Robert Irwin Clips. He has this brand. I'm not, I guess not in that algorithm, but he is so popular. It's not just from the dancing with cars.
Starting point is 00:16:24 I had no clue. Billy, I had no clue that Steve Irwin was as big as Robert. Robert Irwin was as big as he is. I think we all loved Steve, and the way that he passed away was so tragic. So for Robert to follow in his footsteps, it seems right, and we need somebody jumping around and knocking crocodiles on their nose. So that is your official Super Bowl Media Row. entertainment celebrity factor i saw robert he's you know doing the tour like many people are but
Starting point is 00:16:53 when he's at every station the uh hosts are putting on the snake they're wearing the snake or holding i guess you would say not wearing well is he coming on here well if he were in billy's chair right now and offered matt would you like to wrap the snake around your arm are you doing it um if if people make me but i'm not going to like it and i i hear they can smell fear that's true is that right you think think you can latch on to you pretty quickly yeah Yeah, I think, I feel like, though, someone would save me. Maybe the Bella twins who just walked by a few minutes ago. Maybe, is that Joey Wagner?
Starting point is 00:17:27 Yes, it is. Anyway, the point being, yeah, I would do it. My college roommate had a snake. Its name was the Spanish word for death, which is already intimidating himself. Merdey-day. Yeah, there you go. That was the name, Merdey day. And about once a month.
Starting point is 00:17:42 How did I remember that? I haven't thought about Spanish since high school. How in the world did I get that? Go ahead. A couple weeks there'd just be a group text like, hey, guys, can't find the snake. Just be careful around the house. And that's a little unsettling. That is when Mirday is just on the loose.
Starting point is 00:17:56 Well, we've really enjoyed it here. We still got one more day tomorrow. But today, lots of interviews. We're going to get started here in just a minute. We will bring on. We'll play the interview from yesterday with Sean Alexander. And then we're going to go busing with the boys here on Media Row. All right, I got to tell you of all the interviews we're going to do, this is the one I'm most excited about.
Starting point is 00:18:36 We got four Kentucky boys sitting at the same table in the house as Sean Alexander is here. Bluegrass State here. Sean, what's going on? Man, it's good to see the Kentucky family representing the NFL up in this thing. That's exactly right. Now, Sean, I'm going to say, we're going to start. I'm going to say a name that you haven't heard in years. Okay. This is how I first learned Sean Alexander.
Starting point is 00:18:59 I went to Middlesboro High School. I was a junior in high school. We had a great football team. Our running back was a guy named Eric Erkie Witherspoon from Middlesborough High School who was fighting with you for the lead in rushing in the state. You passed him at the end. He came in second rushing to you in high school. Eric, I saw him recently still says, oh, Sean Alexander just got me.
Starting point is 00:19:25 That was big time when you played at Boone County. Man, Boone County was a lot of fun. Actually, I was just talking to some of my linemen before I got on a plane to fly. out here and they were like, oh, man, you know, it's so cool. Every time you do that, you're representing all of us, and then I'm here at the stage with you guys. This is great. Yes.
Starting point is 00:19:42 Now, you went to Alabama. Now, I don't want, I mean, do you see this that right here? Like, well, I mean, I know it was Alabama, but did you even consider him become part of the big blue? Honestly, Kentucky, they just didn't recruit me hard. Oh, stop it. I'm telling you. Was that Bill Curry?
Starting point is 00:20:02 Yeah, Bill Curry. And I went to the Kentucky Louisville game. I'm excited my mom with the Kentucky I'm like oh this is going to be easy they're like hey there's a quarterback that's sitting a Tim Couchy's going to come here I knew Craig Yeast I was like oh I was like you I knew
Starting point is 00:20:17 couch and yeast I knew all of this and then all of a sudden I'm like Bama's showing up there at the school Notre Dame's at the school Michigan's at the school and I'm like looking around and I was like hey mom have you heard anything from Kentucky that's kind of weird they don't call anymore it's inexcusable
Starting point is 00:20:33 I mean Bill Curry I was I thought they had another running back. They probably had another running back. Yeah, we could have found room for you. I don't think you would have found room. But you went to Alabama, then to the Seahawks. How exciting is this to have your guys in the Super Bowl? It's super exciting.
Starting point is 00:20:51 You know, watching how Seattle is, this team reminds me a lot of my team in 05 where, you know, Sam Donald does some things that I really were. Like, just like we had Hasselback, you know, like, you know, Hasselback wasn't like Peyton Manning or Tom Brady, but he was like a solid good quarterback. And Sam had to go through all the ups and downs. Matt's wasn't up and downs wasn't as bad because he went from Green Bay to us.
Starting point is 00:21:15 But just solid quarterback, but the defense is so similar, just relentless. They go after it. You don't even know who anybody really is, but at the same time, you know, they're going to knock you around. And so this is a great, you know.
Starting point is 00:21:30 I love K9. He does stuff that I do really, really well, you know. getting in and holes, breaking tackles, very big in the red zone. So this team looks really, really good. So as we mentioned, we're Kentucky guys. You know, we're pretty proud of our fan base, Big Blue Nation. But we hear about the 12th man out in Seattle. We've never experienced it firsthand, but it's 12th man, 12th man,
Starting point is 00:21:50 anytime we're watching the broadcast. Are they as crazy? Is that real? Is it made out to be? I think it's overrated. Is it good marketing or they actually agree? I think you'll see Sunday. Okay.
Starting point is 00:21:59 I think that there is one Super Bowl where we just didn't know how to do it. it was mine. And after that, they were just like, no, we'll never have another Super Bowl where you won't see the 12th man show up. And the thing was is tickets and this and that. We just didn't know. It was new for all of us. So we got in there.
Starting point is 00:22:16 We played in Detroit, which was Jerome Bettis' backyard, you know what I mean, against the Steelers who always carries a crowd. And it felt like a road game in our Super Bowl. Now you saw the New York. You saw the one we played against the Patriots last time. We've brought our 12s with us. And they're here. Everybody always focuses on the guys that played,
Starting point is 00:22:35 but you had to be a part of like, just run the damn ball to Mars. Like that happened. Were you going crazy? It was wild. It was wild. I think like sometimes coaches try to get situational. There's a timeout.
Starting point is 00:22:49 You're trying to get three plays out of, out of the remaining seconds. And you're like, okay, do I run it, call timeout pass, pass. Or do I, or pass and then run? Or do I throw it? And then the clock stops and then it's run, timeout, run. You know, so like sometimes you say, but when you're on the one yard line,
Starting point is 00:23:08 run the damn ball. Yeah, just you run, you call time out. You know what I didn't work. And so, like, I feel like that was just, you know, every day caught up in the moment. You know, what I loved was, you know, I was in the locker room with him, and Pete just came here full ownership. Hey, y'all, I made the call. This is on me.
Starting point is 00:23:24 I hate that I put you all in this situation, you know, and I love coaches like that. When you're having, like, a record setting year, your MVP year, Do running back is getting a zone where it's like you're in the back field? You're thinking it doesn't matter. It's over there what we're doing. I'm getting my yards today. Yep. Whatever you want piano.
Starting point is 00:23:41 It's all going to work. You know, I remember that year was so cool because every play felt right. You know, we had just a great rhythm with our line. I had the best fullback in the game. Max Strong, great fullback name. And it's a great fullback name. Actually, we know somebody named Matt. He was just doing this thing.
Starting point is 00:24:01 Yeah. Man, he was a punter, though, not quite the same thing. Yeah, yeah, and Richard Sherbert. Yeah, he didn't say how to me. Hello, Richard Sherman. Yeah, he just, he didn't, I guess he doesn't want to talk to us. Yeah. Do you, I was asking Terrell Davis this earlier,
Starting point is 00:24:16 football's changed even since you play. Yeah. Do you think there's still a place for dudes that ran like you, that sort of hard running back in today's game? I think there is, and I think that instead of being like a whole season, I think it's more like situational. And so, like, unfortunately, you know, Seattle had two running backs. You got K9, you got Chabinay, you know.
Starting point is 00:24:37 And so they always did the one-two thing and now Shob's hurt. So now you're going to have Kenneth being really the guy. And I think like you're going to watch this camera. You're going to be like, ooh, this 100 yards and two touchdowns. Is this what it have been like if you'd have carried the bar every play, but they just don't do it no more. But I feel like this situation is going to fold for itself to be like that because there's no way they're going to let Jackson Smith go run in.
Starting point is 00:25:01 running every route that he wants all over the field because he can play outside and inside. So you've got to put a safety over top of him and which now leaves him for a running back to go do what he does. While their fan base, Alabama, Seattle, Boone Camp. I tell you what, I was loved at all three of those places because they believe, you know, at Boone County, there was 10,000 people in that little town of Florence.
Starting point is 00:25:26 We'd have 11,000 every game. Yeah. So people would be like, yeah, look, if you're going to rob the bank, They didn't even know. If you're going to rob all the money out of the bank, leave us a message. If you're going to just borrow it, just bring it back later on. So hometown was great.
Starting point is 00:25:39 I don't think that there's anything more special than Alabama. I remember my sophomore year, a lady came up to me. Sean Alexander, I'm 81 years old. And if y'all beat Auburn, I'll die a happy woman. I was like, ma'am, I'm 19. Don't put that on me. That's the only one I lost. Oh, you lost that one.
Starting point is 00:25:56 Oh, no. I was three and one against Auburn. I was like, oh, gosh. Did she die? I never saw her again. Feels terrible about that Wednesday. Sean! Man, I-
Starting point is 00:26:07 That's wild, ain't it? It's a lot of pressure. It is a lot of pressure. That's wild. That's wild for a 19-year-old. Come on. But, like, I mean, we see those Alabama fans. Paul, Fimbabombe, you let him,
Starting point is 00:26:16 did you ever have any of those moments in Tuscaloosa? You know what? And you get the goods and the bads, you know what I mean? So, you know, I had a great start as a freshman, and it just kind of kept rolling. And so I would get all the love. There's no one greater than, Sean, I was there. I'll tell you how a funny story. A lady and a couple came up to us and they were like, oh my God, to the picture with Sean Alexander and one of my friends knew the couple. I didn't know them at all. Sins in Texas says, man, you're still loved at Alabama. Do you see the lady said, man, if you think I should shoot my shot at Sean Alexander? And the husband said to her, well, if he says to go, you should go. There's not a greater man that ever played Alabama than Sean Alexander. I'm like, what's wrong with this place?
Starting point is 00:26:57 Wait a minute, so this man was offering you his wife? Oh, yeah. As a reward? You know what he says? What? Roll Tide. Oh, no. Wow.
Starting point is 00:27:07 Goodness. Sean will roll Tide. That's a different phrase of roll Tide than I'm used to. I was rolling. Sean, we actually know of somebody that did that with Kentucky, too, but I'm not going to say who it is. Allegedly. Allegedly. Allegedly.
Starting point is 00:27:23 Allegedly. Sean, let me ask you one thing. How cool was it to be a cover athlete on Madden? And were you hesitant at all. to accept that honor. Oh, no, not at all. Not at all. I think that everybody would want to be on the cover of it.
Starting point is 00:27:34 I mean, still today I get to go do all the greatest things. And I'm part of the, what EAS Sports calls the Trinity. You know, it's only three of us that were on the cover of both college and pro. Who are the other two? What I would say is the second one was Larry Fitzgerald. Okay. The third one was because they did a throwback. He doesn't count.
Starting point is 00:27:53 It's just you and Larry. It was Barry Sanders. Well, he's pretty good. going to add him, man. He's pretty good. So they love it. there. So it was really, really cool.
Starting point is 00:28:02 And also, I just think that the Madden cover is kind of like, it just kind of doesn't make sense for football. There's, what, 32 running backs, 32 quarterbacks, 64 guys, 50 are going to miss at least one game every year. So it really occurs or it was just football. Listen, that's as big as the Hall of Fame. Now, Billy was saying earlier today, he was like, you know what? I think, I think people should stay.
Starting point is 00:28:27 apart. And I was like, Sean Alexander doesn't agree with that. He thinks people should stand together. That's right. I like that. I like that. Stand together. I've been an ambassador for them for the last six years. It's about 900 of some of the most successful business men, women, philanthropic leaders in the country. They put their time, talents, treasures together to tackle some of the country's biggest issues. As the ambassador, I get to play the role of building the perfect tri-pies. So there's people that do great work, foundations, community leaders. There's people that can fund it. You're right, there's some of those people in the stand-together family that do
Starting point is 00:29:01 really, really well with their businesses. And then there's the people that get to influence it. So I get to bring some of my NFL buddies, some of the, you know, it used to be like brother Sean. Now it's like, Uncle Sean, I don't even know how I feel about that right now. Oh, you're on. Oh, man. It's happening.
Starting point is 00:29:14 He's an uncle. Oh, man. And so now I'm getting to bring some of these guys in today, some of the legends from the old and saying, hey, what do you believe in? We believe in people. We believe in people in this country. How can we go help benefit them? And we go from juvenile justice kids in the Juvie system and putting them in different programs to families that just can't make it that are impoverished situations to education, to business for good.
Starting point is 00:29:40 How can we put a business into this community and now watch that community thrive because of it and with jobs or even just food or whatever? And so it's been a lot of fun watching them and we just kind of have the same philosophy. We believe in people. We believe everybody's got a genius in them. So we've got to figure out how they put you in the right seat on the bus. us and the fact that that no one's a throw away, right? No matter what mistake you've ever made, that there's something in you that could go benefit somebody else.
Starting point is 00:30:04 I like that. Well, now that you told that Rolls-Tide story, they're never going to put four Kentucky people on the set. This is the one. If I get a picture, this is the one. Never going to do it again. Thank you, Sean. I appreciate it.
Starting point is 00:30:15 Hey, go Big Blue. Go Big Blue. Ro-Tide. Yeah, yeah, row tide. Go see dogs. All right, you guys don't know us, but I feel like we know you. It's Bustin with the boys, Taylor-Wan,
Starting point is 00:30:44 and Will Compton. We'll start with, we're big part of my take. We've been friends with them for 15 years. The boys. The boys. Yes. Good group of fellas. We host Kentucky Sports Radio.
Starting point is 00:30:53 They host us every year. They host our show and they are awesome. And Big Titans fan right here. Oh, I told them. I've been busing with these guys. They don't know me, but I've been bused since day one. He said the right word. He said the right words.
Starting point is 00:31:07 He said the right words. Yes. Now, there's one other fit. Can I just say one thing? Yes. After everything Nebraska has been through. For you to wear that. what I was going to say.
Starting point is 00:31:15 For you to wear that hat for my boy. I sent out a tweet that Will Compton may have seen, which was I host Kentucky Sports Radio. And when we took a certain quarterback that Nebraska wanted, you tweeted about it. I might have tweeted coping with the boys. Oof. When you sit that tweeted, so I have to apologize, kind of, but I also kind of liked it, because we never take anything from Nebraska.
Starting point is 00:31:39 I'll say this. I saw his Kentucky head, but it's not like anger doesn't. like anger doesn't come to my head. Yes. So I, opportunities. It's the optics going on with these agents and these kids that really just pissed me off. Buddy,
Starting point is 00:31:53 but they, that UNLV kid, Costalanos. Yeah, Calandria. Calandria? Costalanos, dude. I love that kid.
Starting point is 00:32:02 So I've been like feuding publicly with Nebraska fans for 20 years. But when I was a kid, Nebraska was Nebraska. How do we get it? How do you get? You. Took our guy Dane Key, though. That's our buddy.
Starting point is 00:32:16 Good player. Our goal host is his godfather. We've known him since he was a child. We've known him since he was a little kid, Dane Key. So, like, we've been watching you guys for a while. How do you get it back? You got to win. Bo Polini.
Starting point is 00:32:28 Yeah. Bo Polini is D.C. We're a big Mark Stoops fan. Yeah. You got to win, dude. If I had the formula, I'd be wearing a whistle around my neck instead of being behind a microphone. But you got to win. You got to get better every year.
Starting point is 00:32:42 We kind of, we went, what, seven, five this year what one game better yeah it you know it's an uphill battle but we will be national champs again i love it i love it you bet you i know i'm not a nebraska guy i just think that there's been some harsh criticisms on mat rule and if you remember where you guys were before mat rule came in like there was not a bowl game until 2015 and this schedule nebraska's got a mission got it is an absolute juggernaut this year so patience patience he's getting the shipping is being written right now. The problem is it's over a decade of patience. However, there's been some bad decision making up until Coach Rule got there. But yeah, I mean, we what? What we have
Starting point is 00:33:25 to celebrate is we went to two bowl games back to back. But that again, when you're saying Nebraska back when we were younger, yeah, we got a road. We got a road ahead of us. The obstacle is the way. Well, we'll talk a little Super Bowl here. But first, I just want to make sure we get at home, power, power, ice. What's the situation? Still, what, day 11 now? No power? You basically put the city on your back. Trying to.
Starting point is 00:33:48 Trying to. There's definitely a credit that needs to be given to NES workers' boots on the ground that are working tirelessly 24-7, 365 to give power back. Now that we've covered that basis, the people, the umbrella who are pulling the strings into the city of Nashville? No, it's not. Danny. Oh.
Starting point is 00:34:08 My former co-host right there. Yes. All right, Dan, what's up, man? Hey, those short shorts and the weight room? The legs do look good. They do. You're just way too long to be wearing shorts that short. Why?
Starting point is 00:34:22 What do you mean? Why? Don't let them take things away from you. You wear whatever you wear just mad you got these stumps. Oh, buddy, these legs. I've lost some mass over the last few months. I'm going to make you see. I still like these legs.
Starting point is 00:34:32 I was going to come over. You guys must be the most popular people. I saw you got the big Derek Henry hug over here. You all can't walk anywhere. Dude, Derek's a ma'am. By the way, Derek looks massive. Did you have to popping out of a sweater like crazy? Did you see the specimen of Derek Henry still?
Starting point is 00:34:47 Incredible. Boy, it's good. We're going to hang out? We're going to link up? I would love to hang out. Are we doing anything this week? I got a little hands. What are you in here?
Starting point is 00:34:52 I got a flex old time. You're going to do that. Are we doing anything this week? Or are we just as that? It was last week get. I haven't heard from you since our show. I like this, Drew. I haven't heard from him.
Starting point is 00:35:02 We got done. Hey, yeah, you had a phone? That's my, that was my first radio co-hosts right there. Dan. Danny Ho? Dan's first job at ESPN was co-hosting a show with me. Did you know it? in that first year, you're like, this dude's going to be a star.
Starting point is 00:35:16 Dad's not that good of a guy. The very first time, the very first show, he was in, you can tell him, I said this, first show I walk in, he's in a closet before our very first radio show, panicking and shaking. He's so nervous because it was his first day at ESPN. And I was like, dude, I don't know football, you don't know radio, we got this. And by about week five, I knew he was going to be a stock. We said, we were like, we'll never see him again. And after one year he was TV and that was that.
Starting point is 00:35:44 When he comes on the bus, that'll be a great starting point. You need to start with that. He was literally going over the notes, week one of the NFL season. He's shaking. And I'm shaking because I've never been on ESPN. He's never been on the radio. I've never been on ESPN. We start.
Starting point is 00:35:58 But by week five, I was like, that dude's going to be a star. You could just tell. Yeah, he is the man, bro. I love some Danio. So let's talk about the game. What do you think is going to happen on Sunday? I mean, there's multiple different avenues you can go down, right? I mean, the Seattle Seahawks are probably the most complete best team in the entire NFL,
Starting point is 00:36:13 and they have been for most of the year. Sam Donald gets that monkey off his back of he's gray in the regular season. Those last couple of games fizzled out at the Vikings. He's no longer a bus. He's a top 10 quarterback. But then he got the New England Patriots have overachieved all year long. We went to their camp and looked at their roster. We're like, yeah, they'll get some culture wins.
Starting point is 00:36:33 But other than that, this is not going to be a team that is, you know, going to make the playoffs. They're fighting for second, as Will it likes to say. Yeah. It's a Seattle Seahawks. It's a different animal than they've seen all year. Seahawks are going to win. It's going to be... Is it going to be close?
Starting point is 00:36:50 They've got a fighting chance. They got a fighting chance, but I got it. What do we see here? 28? 2019. That's a lot. That's a lot of points. It's a lot of points.
Starting point is 00:37:04 I see this. This says 2001 Patriots, 2007 Giants. Bay Underdogs. defense. He's going to be some crazy stuff that takes place. But I'm going to believe I'm going to be biased towards Mike Vrable. I'm taking the Patriots and I like them 31-28. Mike Vrable.
Starting point is 00:37:22 How did your Titans like that happen? I am hurting. Buddy, that is the most fumbled bag of all time of times. Here's what I want to ask. Yeah, big Titans, you got Oilers right here, Steve Mingner. How has it been watching Vrable get to the school? It's killing me. It's killing me. Every step of the way, I'm under the impression that it's one of those situations
Starting point is 00:37:39 to where you want to save relationships good. You're happy to see him be successful, but to make it to the Super Bowl, it's like, all right, I didn't want him to be that good. No, and I drove to Kansas City by myself when you all had the run and got close. I mean, I was all in on Vrable, and then when he left, of course, that killed me.
Starting point is 00:37:54 And now I'm just so conflicted. I'm happy for him. It's like a divorce, but he upgraded a lot and just left me back at the house. New life, new life is so hot. He's still single. He's not getting any matches. I mean, I'm in a whole order and pizza getting fat,
Starting point is 00:38:06 and he went out. It's not happening. He's back in the gym. Jim because he wants Mike Rayble to choose him again. That's why it's a hard. It hurts. It worked out. So tell me, you guys with Fandul like the sweatshirts. Yeah, thank you very much. Very comfortable, by the way. This is a homie sweatshirt.
Starting point is 00:38:20 This is how much we wanted to have you. We're actually Draft Kings people. And I was like, we got to have them anyway. Okay. Because we love them. That's how much we want to have them all and let them do their fan dual thing. Yeah. Well, I mean, did you see the numbers coming out of Missouri?
Starting point is 00:38:31 Uh, I can't. We haven't checked the books. I'm just saying. For me, I'm a Missouri boy, you got to win your home states. Well, you come look at the numbers that. Kentucky where we're the draft kicks people and then we'll talk. That's right.
Starting point is 00:38:41 Hey, put it on the board if Andool. We're going out for Kentucky next year this year. It was great to see you guys. Good to see you too, man. Appreciate you too. I'm scrubbing to find the coping with the boys. I'm going to scrubbing now about,
Starting point is 00:38:50 oh, okay. Coping with the boys. It's there. It got a lot of commentary in Kentucky. Thank you. Appreciate y'all, man. Have a good one. Love you guys.
Starting point is 00:39:13 So you know it's Super Bowl time when I agree to talk to a Tennessee guy. Yes, sir. I did. Yes, sir. Because this is Joe Milton, was a quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys, but also unfortunately,
Starting point is 00:39:27 a former Tennessee volunteer. By the way, I like the bling there. You think I could use that, you think I could get a couple of those in there? Get your cuff in the back. It'll be all right. It'll be all right. Joe, nice to see you.
Starting point is 00:39:39 Thank you for coming. You can't eat the same? No, you can. You can. So you don't get anything stuck in it? I mean, you probably get something trapped in the midst of it, but floss, you'll be all right. It's still going to do it.
Starting point is 00:39:51 All right. So you play at Tennessee. once I had a girl on Rocky Top. Do you know the next line? No, I do not know the next one. Once I had a girl on Rocky Top, half bear. I do not know the next one. I do not know the next line.
Starting point is 00:40:05 Come on, Matt. I do not know that part. And those are the main part. You did say when I said you played for Tennessee, I was like, I'm a Kentucky guy. What was your answer? We ain't never losing Kentucky. Never.
Starting point is 00:40:16 We haven't won many in that series in general. Yeah, I know we still got the bucket. Yeah. Lig who lives there. Did you play against Will? Yes. Yes. Well, Hendon played against Will.
Starting point is 00:40:26 Okay. The game he thought, yeah. Against Will Levis, who we're talking about. You shoot up. You had, you had Hendon. So tell me about Cowboys faithful, wild, Tennessee faithful, wild, explain the difference. Or are they similar? I kind of look at my colleges, like my NFL teams.
Starting point is 00:40:47 Like Michigan, it was more like the Patriots. And the Cowboys more like Tennessee. Tennessee, in the essence of you're free, your will, the people that know you. Like, and the SEC, when people walk up to you, it's, oh, can I take a picture? No, not right now. Okay. And it's still a picture. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:41:09 And the Big Ten, like the Patriots were, and also at Michigan, it was like, okay, can I take a picture? No, not right now. Okay, thank you. So you're saying the SEC people are taking a picture no matter what? taking a picture no matter what. So you're saying does that mean they're rude or they're just crazy? Crazy. I ain't going to say they're rude.
Starting point is 00:41:27 They're just crazy for sure. Mention the Patriots. You probably got a lot of relationships over there still. Absolutely. For a little bit. Absolutely. Kind of wish you were still around good taste of it or are you happy for those boys? What's the dynamic like being a former Patriot?
Starting point is 00:41:39 How they are on the last step? I've never been a person that hates. So that's not me. But yeah, I got a lot of relationships over there. A lot of brothers that I built rubs with. I'm so excited for those guys, especially because they worked hard, and I know they did because I was still throwing
Starting point is 00:41:57 to some of those guys in the offseason when they was in Florida. So it was cool. Some of them guys still came to my house, like popping Terrell Jennings. Like, they came to my house in Texas just to hang out with me. If I were to come here, what's your house like?
Starting point is 00:42:11 We've got fun stuff in there? We got gadgets? I got a lot of fun stuff. I got every video game system, PlayStation-Wage. Okay. I got a PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:42:23 I play on a PC, though. I got a game in PC. You stream? Yes. Got one of those big fans of chairs, the headset, the whole thing. I got the whole thing, but when I'm moving to my... So you're going at people online? Do you talk trash to these?
Starting point is 00:42:36 I talk trash on the field. I'm definitely talking trash on the mic. Do they know it's an NFL quarterback on the other end doing the trash time? On 2K, they do. On 2K, they got the football over my head. So they are... Wait, man. So when you play 2K,
Starting point is 00:42:49 you acknowledge I'm Joe Milton. Nah, Ronnie 2K did it, so it has Joe Milton, and then it has a football over my head. Oh, wow. So they know. No hiding on that one. It ain't no hiding on that one. They ain't no hiding on that one.
Starting point is 00:43:02 My name on there is Mr. Rocket, so. Well, you're not hiding now. You just said your name. I mean, it is what it is. Come find me. Or millions and millions of listeners. I land that control every time. Come bring it.
Starting point is 00:43:10 That's exactly right. When you grow up, I would think putting on the star has to be like one of the dreams of any young kid. What was it like the first time you put the uniform on? It was so it was surreal. I mean, my mom's a big Cowboys fan. So it was one of those moments like, dang, I wish my mom could see this right now. Like, wish she was like right with me at the moment.
Starting point is 00:43:34 But it was surreal. It was a great moment. I felt great. I still feel great to this day about putting it on. It's just a team that you like, man, that's a star. Like, oh, what a star? Oh, Dallas. Like, you know, so it's just a big difference.
Starting point is 00:43:49 difference and I love it. Who's got the bigger arm? You or Dak? Me. Yeah, me. You're going to throw it, but? I mean, Dad can't throw the ball far, but. But not you.
Starting point is 00:43:59 You have one of the biggest arms. Yeah, I remember. I mean, like, I can picture one particular play where I had to be 65 yards in the air. That's nothing, but I'm with you. What's the, oh, it's nothing? Yeah, 65. What's the top? Right now?
Starting point is 00:44:14 If I was to have a football in my hand right now. If I were football right now, like Uncle Rico, how far are you falling? 86. Very precise. So I tend to believe that because of the specificity. No, I'm serious. 86. 86, yeah.
Starting point is 00:44:28 Well, there you go. Now, you're here with us for Stand Together. Tell me about that. Well, Stand Together is a great organization of happiness NFL players because us NFL players, like we have the heart. We have, obviously, we have the funds to go help our communities, help our families, right? but staying together is like a roadmap for us.
Starting point is 00:44:49 Well, we don't have to go out and go create our own foundation. They go finding people for the foundation. They go get people together. So it's really good because it limits the stress we have to have on us. So we're allowed to just go to the communities, talk to the families, and get everything that we need for those families, right? So for me, it's about single mothers and single families. So being in a household and being a person that was in single households
Starting point is 00:45:14 and live with my siblings. I'm the oldest of seven. I lost one of my sisters when I was seven. So being in the household and seeing my mom have to try to prepare food, coming home from practice or school, and there's no food on the table when it's 6 o'clock. It's supposed to be dinner time, right? And there's no food.
Starting point is 00:45:32 We got to wait to about 9 o'clock to get some white rice and chicken. And everybody else is already than eight and ready for school for the next day. Like we're still waiting around and trying to figure things out. So being in that, you have the heart. The heart that I have is so pure to the point that it's like, I don't want nobody else to ever go through what I went through. Like obviously you're going to go through things in life. You're going to face adversity.
Starting point is 00:45:55 But if you have an opportunity not to face it and go about it the right way, or if you do face it and have somebody in your corner to help you out and not have to go through it how I went through it, Dan. That's what I'm here for. Well, Joe Milden, thank you very much for your time. I'm actually kind of glad you don't know the way. words to Rocky Top. I know the song when we score.
Starting point is 00:46:17 Well, I hear that a lot, but I don't know. You heard it a lot when you played us. Thank you very much for the time. No problem. Thank you all so much. Appreciate it. You know, it's not often that we get big time quarterback talents on NFL cover zero, but we got it now.
Starting point is 00:46:46 Bryce Young, Carolina Panthers. Bryce, nice to have you here. I see you just been doing the rounds here. What's it like getting shuttleed from one interview to the other? No, it's cool. I really appreciate the atmosphere of the environment. It's cool to be able to interact with people, with the media, with fans. So it's a lot of fun.
Starting point is 00:47:04 Everybody's going to have football questions, and that's fine. You're going to have plenty of chance to answer. One of the heroes of this show this season has been a young man named Carolina Mike. Do you know who Carolina Mike is? If I had $150,000, do you know this guy? The guy that sings about the Panthers? Oh, the... On TikTok.
Starting point is 00:47:28 Oh, that was a... They brought him to the game. He sang is your game, yes. They brought him to the game. I'm not... I didn't know he was, like, he's like a Panthers, like... He's a Panthers fan, but he's also a rapper. I use that term loosely.
Starting point is 00:47:42 He's an accountant. He's like 47 years old. Right, classic rapper accountant. Incredible. It's like, Tupac did the same thing back in the day. $150,000. They played at a TV timeout in Carolina, one of the games. We love it.
Starting point is 00:48:00 Yeah, yeah. He said if he had $150,000, he'd buy a football team, oh, but wait, that's not enough to buy a team. That's the lyric. See? With that kind of lyric lyric, that's why he's been so successful. Man, a lot of lyricism.
Starting point is 00:48:15 You got to give him a shout out. He listens. Oh, yeah, a big shout out. Yeah, like I said, he was on the, and I noticed, like, in the TV timeout, like I'm getting here in car. coach and the, I was like, it's just the, and we all sat as a huddle. We all looked at the Jumbotron, watched him, watched the crowd go crazy.
Starting point is 00:48:31 So big shout out. Did you like the cargo shorts? Yeah, yeah, that's classic. That's classic. Classic rapper wear. Exactly, exactly. Tech season's coming up too if you need him, his accounting service. He's probably busy.
Starting point is 00:48:41 So this has been for you, like this has been a breakout year. You know, you have elevated your game, but I also think kind of the national respect, the sort of appreciation has taken off. what's that felt like in year three to kind of take that next step? Yeah, you know, it's definitely a blessing. I always want to grow, always want to progress, I always want to make sure that I'm doing everything I can to help the team. As far as kind of the outside national stuff, again, I'm super grateful for the support.
Starting point is 00:49:10 I'm super grateful for it. For me, individually, you know, it's just, it's stuff that's out of my control. You know, every there's ebbs and flows, up and downs in life, you know, everyone's opinion is going to change. For me, I try to just focus on the opinions of the people in the building, the people that I'm close with. You know, I've been a sports fan. You know, I am a sports fan. So, again, I get in.
Starting point is 00:49:29 I appreciate everyone's opinion because that's how people get involved me. I bet you have opinions. Like on the NBA, I could sit there and say, what do you think about the James Hardin trade? Yeah, yeah, for sure. For sure. So, again, it's all love. I appreciate whatever it is, negative positive.
Starting point is 00:49:41 I appreciate. That's what fuels a sport. And so I appreciate that. But, you know, for me, I try to keep my, you know, be where my feet are. Just focus on on the team and, you know, try to accomplish the goals that we set out as the unit. You took a big step forward this year, not just you, but the Panthers.
Starting point is 00:49:55 And, you know, not a lot of tradition there, smaller market. What's it like doing it in Carolina and being a part of that? I'll admit watching on TV, the fan base looks awesome. Yeah, for sure. But, you know, it is a smaller market and a franchise that isn't as much tradition. Is there some extra pride in doing it there? Yeah, just like you said, you know, the fans of support there is amazing. You know, it means a lot for us just to be embraced as a team as a franchise.
Starting point is 00:50:18 So, you know, we rely on that a lot. We lean to that a lot. we make sure that, you know, for us, there's a ton of motivations, just for the Carolina to be able to do it in that, that area, that market, it's, you know, it's huge for us. And again, we, we're, the support is huge for us. We're grateful for us. So we're going to continue to push to be our best, you know, to try to honor all that. A great mascot, too.
Starting point is 00:50:38 Sir Per, maybe the best mascot league. My friend passed away last year. He had a custom under Sir Per jersey. That's how much he likes. I was like, you should get Bryce Young. No, custom Sir Per, but I'm the best mascot too. What is the name of the podcast, Billy? Meow Mix.
Starting point is 00:50:52 Meow Mix. You've heard about that. Okay, so they quit doing it, and then you all took off and they wanted to come back, and the fans said, no. Are you aware of the Meow Mix controversy? I need to get up on the, I need to get up on the, you guys are educating me. You're actually playing the games. You're a little busy.
Starting point is 00:51:09 You may not care about the Meow Mix podcast. You also, you're in Carolina, NASCAR country. Yeah. You've been to a NASCAR race? I have not been to a NASCAR race as a team. They did take us to, um, they took us to like a, um, Um, they took us to the speedway. Yeah, yeah, they took us to the speedway, got us to like, to see where they, they built some of the cars and got us kind of behind the scenes.
Starting point is 00:51:30 Did you get behind the wheel? Not behind the wheel. There was a lot, a lot of, I, they, they took some guys on the, um, and the past passengers to do that. I want, I, something else said, I wasn't able to go, but it was, it was a really cool experience. You're probably a little too valuable to the franchise to let you go 180 in the Charlotte Motor Speedway. I was watching on the side. It looked like a ton of, fun. So it was cool. You're still pretty close to SEC country, though. Do you ever have like
Starting point is 00:51:55 random Alabama fans outside your house cheering or anything? Not outside the house yet, but everywhere else, which is really cool. I didn't, I'm from California originally, so I didn't know honestly how big the, you know, how big of a reach the Alabama, the alumni base was, how big the fandom is. So until I went there, of course, and then now even I, I, I hear that just as much everywhere I go in. And also it's not just yet, whether it's in the Carolina. I want to tell Paul Fine Mom just to turn it down a notch. Yeah, yeah, that's always an entertaining one. But again, like you said, the support, I hear Roll Tide.
Starting point is 00:52:32 I probably heard Roll Tide 10 times this morning, which is awesome. Well, we're Kentucky fans, so I can't say it. All right, we also want to have joining us, Adam Vassallo. He is with Big Brothers, Big Sisters of America, and I'd love to have you talk about. You got, you got Bryce, some of the work you guys do. Yeah, we're grateful to have Bryce. supporting our mission as a champion of our work. Big Brothers Big Sisters was founded in 1904, 120 years ago.
Starting point is 00:52:57 We match young people, Littles, with mentors, which we call Biggs across the country. This week, Bryce is helping us launch our annual campaign. It started six years ago in partnership with the NFL Inspire Change Initiative. It's called the Big Draft, and it's the 60 days between Super Bowl and the NFL draft while the NFL is drafting their next generation of players. Big Brothers Big Sisters is drafting the next generation of game-changing mentors. and communities across the country. That is great.
Starting point is 00:53:22 Well, let me ask you. I'll ask you both this. I've actually never been a big brother. I've considered it. Tell me why, if I've someone out there's like, that's something I think would be good. Why should one do that? Well, I can speak firsthand.
Starting point is 00:53:36 Just the importance of mentorship, you know, I don't think, and I think being on the other side as well, it's easy, I think, to dismiss it and be, oh, you know, maybe I could give back. But, you know, who wants to hear from me or what can I bring to the table? and there are so many, so many, so many kids, so much youth that just are, are looking for for something tangible to grass, looking for a relationship, looking for it, and I can, I can guarantee you whatever you have, whatever you bring the table is enough, you know, the,
Starting point is 00:54:04 just the time that it takes being able to show that you care about someone, you're investing someone. For someone young, you know, that, that can mean the world of difference in something small, something big, and their life trajectory. So I definitely encourage you, encourage anyone that can to be a mentor because you know there's you can make such a huge impact in people's lives and you don't have to be
Starting point is 00:54:28 have this crazy thing have this crazy story it's the investment in someone young that that means the world of difference. I might join the big draft over the next 60 days Bryce Adam thank you very much for your time and I enjoy the Super Bowl. Thank you so much thanks for having us
Starting point is 00:54:44 well that was a heck of a day you get I mean how many times Well, first of all, in all my years of doing podcasts and radio, I'm not sure you get a more illustrious line of guests than Sean Alexander Bryce Young, busing with the boys, and Joe Milton. I think that's going to be hard to top. Yeah, when the NFL told us they'd get us some guests, I didn't think we would get like a list NFL names. I thought I was going to get Kirk Harp Street's dog, although I think that might have been the bigger celebrity. I was practicing my interviews for backup kickers and special teamers, and then they roll out Bryce Young and all kinds of stars. I still can't get over, by the way, these guys that are the bounty people,
Starting point is 00:55:24 because they look like they're wearing, they're dressed like Archie and Reggie from the Archie Comics with Jughead. They've got those sweaters on it. It's Cooper DeGine, I believe. Yeah, he's good. Oh, is that? Okay. He can wear whatever he wants.
Starting point is 00:55:36 That's true. If you're Cooper DeGene, you can do whatever you like. By the way, we also, as I said at the beginning, I was trying to hint getting to go to the tight-ins party, had our second bite at the apple and once again struck out. I don't think I don't think I'm going to get to see George Kittle and Travis Kelsey tonight. I thought I might, but I don't think it's happening. That's okay. We still got some other parties lined up for, but, you know, being able to sing to Bryce Young, Carolina Mike's song, it really just for a certain moment.
Starting point is 00:56:02 That is a highlight to get to do that. How about how nice all these people? Also on the song, they were nice. But Bryce admitted that during a timeout, the team stopped. They did not talk football and they watched his performance. I wasn't going to bring that up. But if you wouldn't bring it up, you can. I mean, I don't know what game it was, Carolina Mike performed.
Starting point is 00:56:22 But if he did not, if they did win that game, now we might know why. If during the time out, they all just watch Carolina Mike perform. But to your original point about everybody, everybody being so nice, they all were. I mean, this is a pretty fast-paced environment. And they'd hang around and talk for as long as they could before they had to get to their next schedule. Why is that guy dressed as a Washington commander, including pants and past? That's USC. He was outside filming with a tripod like he would hit.
Starting point is 00:56:48 hit record and then he'd run around and talk. Why is he doing that? I don't know. He's fully padded. If I'm guessing, he's probably a TikTok thing. TikTok. TikTok. I've been amazed how many TikTok-y people are here.
Starting point is 00:57:00 TikToky. Yeah. And there's also a threads. I didn't realize threads has a very big presence here. Well, listen, it's been a great day too. We still have one more day tomorrow. Lots of other athletes will be joined us tomorrow. Not sure who they are, but we'll get to know them.
Starting point is 00:57:16 And also Christian McCaffrey tomorrow. Heck yeah. Again, another big name. Talk about another guy with dreamy eyes. Or maybe the first guy. He and Mike Golick. They're giving us all the good eyes here. That's right. If you want sex appeal,
Starting point is 00:57:31 Christian McCaffrey and Mike Golick have all been part of cover zero. Well, we thank you guys very much. We will have another episode tomorrow. Getting you ready for the Super Bowl here live in San Francisco, sort of live. This is NFL Cover Zero. NFL cover zero with Matt Jones and Drew Franklin is a production of the NFL and IHeart podcast.
