This is an I-Heart podcast.
Guaranteed Human.
NFL Cover Zero with Matt Jones and Drew Franklin
is a production of the NFL and I-Heart podcast.
Another week here, NFL Cover Zero, Matt Jones and Drew Franklin, ready to go.
It is week eight of the NFL season.
It is a beautiful day where we are in Kentucky.
Drew is wearing his green.
I've got on blue.
And, you know, sitting here looking at the sloth.
later games coming this week.
Huge spreads, but that doesn't mean there's not a lot to talk about.
Yeah, any day we get to watch the NFL is a great Sunday, but you're right.
This week, good for you all that are still in the Survivor League pool because most of
these spreads are about as big as you'll see in the NFL.
It's a week you should be able to survive in the Survivor leagues.
We're about to hit the Sports Equinox this weekend.
Sports Equinox, I believe, is Sunday.
It will be the only day of the day.
year, or excuse me, Monday.
It's going to be Monday.
The only day of the year where all four major sports will be playing at the same time.
Are you excited about that?
Very excited.
Great day for gambling.
I like to do a parlay with one random thing from all of the sports involved.
So it's a good day to get chaotic and consume as much as you can.
You like a good sports equinox parley.
So what are you going to pick?
I mean, let's, well, here, I'll tell you what.
I'm going to pull up the Monday schedules.
Okay.
This was not, this isn't on the plan.
Billy, our producer is going crazy because he doesn't have the kairons for this.
So let's just go through.
We're going to pick up.
This is going to be the NFL cover zero parley.
Commanders, Chiefs.
Chiefs are a 12.5 point favorite.
That'll be your NFL one, which one you like?
Oh, so we're just doing spray.
I get crazy like Vlad Jr.
We're not doing Vlad Jr.
That's too much.
Over 20 and a half rushes.
Command.
God, that's an example of the schedule head.
These spreads are so big.
12 and a half's a lot.
I'm going to say the commanders cover the 12.5.
All right, now we've got to do an NBA one.
I'm just going to pick the game.
You pick the result.
Okay.
76ers at Celtics.
Celtics are a four and a half point favorite at home.
No Jason Tatum.
Also, no Paul George.
Who knows about Joel and beat?
76ers cover the four and a half.
See, I didn't like that one.
All right, so we're taking two road teams.
So far, I'm just doing dogs.
All right, so we're taking road teams.
then we're going to have Dodgers, Blue Jays.
This game will be in L.A.
God, betting against the Dodgers seems crazy.
I'm done taking underdogs.
Dodgers.
Dodgers, okay.
So you're going to take the Dodgers?
So right now we have Dodgers, Celtics, commanders, and then NHL.
If there's one thing not to bet on, it's the NHL, only two games.
So I'm going to give you the Blues and the Penguins.
I don't have enough time in the day to break down this game as much as I'd like to.
but I will say
the St. Louis Blues.
Bred Hole.
Big Brett hole guy.
I got to go with the St. Louis Blues.
St. Louis Blues.
All right.
So there you go.
Your Blues Commanders,
76ers, Dodgers Parley.
If we win that on NFL Cover Zero,
I will all of our listeners,
I will give you a free coupon for wings to KS Bar and Lexi.
But see, the conversation we just had is why the equinox is so fun.
You get everything on.
You're skipping over what is a great offer.
The wings?
Yes, I'm saying to you if we get all of those, if you get the 76ers, commanders, blues, Dodgers parley, all of you in America can have five free wings for Matt Jones at KS Bar.
Now, some of you may be like, is it worth me flying from Seattle to do that?
The answer is yes.
Absolutely.
I mean, have a drive if you don't want to fly.
So five free wings, if we get it.
But you have to, well, actually, you don't even have to show you bet it.
If we just win, it's a celebration.
Yeah, if you come in and name drop this, we know you were listening.
I know you were listening.
I don't know. You're listening.
Perfect.
So we will root that on on the Equinox.
Drew, Monday night football last week, I guess Monday,
Lions and Bucks.
I watched this game with my parents.
It is always exciting to watch a game.
My parents were in town, stayed at my house.
I like watching games with my parents.
First of all, we have long conversations.
about who's playing.
And at least with Larry, I have to remind him throughout the game who's playing.
So I said, lions are playing the Bucks.
And both of my parents said, where are those places?
And I had to say, well, it's Detroit and Tampa Bay.
And then Larry said, I went to Detroit in 1966.
And I said, so does that mean you're for Detroit?
and he said, not necessary.
Still weighing it out.
We'll see the defenses.
We never got to pick, though, throughout the game.
So he went to Detroit in 1966, but that didn't mean he was going to commit to him.
But what you did Monday Night's example of how family fun, you don't have to know the
rosters, you can sit down and enjoy Monday Night Football, maybe two Monday Night Football
if you're interested.
Yes.
And my mom also, there was a play where I don't remember what happened, but she just looked at me and
goes, well, that doesn't seem fair.
I think one person pulled down the other one and there was no flag.
My mom said that doesn't seem fair.
So I like watching sports with my parents.
They're not the biggest sports fans.
And you get like a different perspective on the games.
Yeah, well, they picked a good matchup to watch.
I was really excited to watch that game.
The outcome wanted it to be a little closer.
But for a Monday night game, getting the two NFC contenders, it's still a lot of fun.
Detroit, though, dominated the game.
I mean, that was one of those, you know, I think people,
slept on Detroit because they got crushed in the first week.
We always tend to give too much emphasis to what happens in week one.
But Detroit looked like Detroit in that game.
And do you now have them as your favorites in the NFC?
Yeah, I mean, it's the one game you mentioned to start the season where they had question
marks, but they've answered the bell in every game but one since.
Looking very good.
The Bucks, I've been waiting for them to take a drop.
I'm not going to call this a big decline because you're at Detroit, one of the best teams in
the league.
But it was the Bucks did need a cooling off.
because they had been out of their mind for several weeks.
Probably playing above what they really are,
even though I still think they're good.
Do you agree with me that Detroit Games,
there's always at least one person that has painted his bald head,
half silver, half blue?
They lead the amount of people in the league in bald heads painted in half colors.
Yeah, costumes, cosplay, Detroit's your place.
Coss play.
Yeah, it's usually they have like the...
You think it's coffee?
Play?
Yeah, if you not see the costumes they wear, they got like the cowardly lion out there and a full lion garb.
I mean, they really get into it.
And the best part is it's not like the young people.
It's the dudes that just, it's always the old people.
It's the dudes that just left the steel mill to get into their, to their lion's costume for the game.
I often wonder like when those people are coming to the game, let's say where they stop and get gas.
You know, and they're just wearing a lion's head or their face is painted.
Do they have any sort of, uh, any ambivalence about their decision or,
Just like, this is what we do.
I think if you're committing to the bit that much going to a game in public like that,
you're fine walking in to McDonald's and picking up your cheeseburger on the way,
just being a part of society even though you're dressed like a lion
or the big Legion to Doom shoulder pads or whatever you have on,
I just think that's part of their personality.
Yeah.
Well, they went a point in the game.
Mike Evans broke his clavicle.
That's right.
Now, what is a clavicle?
I think it's your collarbone.
so some why don't they say collarbone well that's i guess the medical term maybe or
are you sure that's true that they're not different things i'm not sure they are the same
so you say it's a nerd term for collarbone okay so it's like contusion instead of bruise
right when you want to be nerdy you call it a clever well you said he's not out for the year though
no he said he could come back at the very end of the year but for bucks fans it's not really good enough
if we need him to get 1,000 yards to break Jerry Rice's record.
So, unfortunately.
Sounds like he's not going to.
Yeah, it doesn't sound like it.
Yeah, he was on the field for a while.
It looked kind of bad.
It looked kind of bad.
I'm glad, honestly, it's only a collarbone or as we medical professionals call it a clavicle.
But if anybody can handle it, it's Tampa.
It feels like they have a million of these guys, right?
Yeah, I'd say if you go back to draft night, they're real happy with their pick right now,
knowing that Mike Evans is out.
They've got a young rookie that's been playing well in his place, but still losing
Mike Evans, it's been a big part of that offense for so long.
It's not a good thing.
Todd Bowles said they're hopeful he'll be back by the end of the year,
but it's a long-term deal.
Are you still Baker-Mayfield is the MVP,
or now are you flirting in another direction?
There's a lot of possibilities.
Mahomes, Daniel Jones is out there making some noise.
I mean, what do you have?
I think Daniel Jones is my guy.
I said this last week before the Baker lost.
Look up the odds.
I'd like to see what the odds are.
I'm going to guess Mahomes is still the favorite,
but I would think Daniel Jones is like third now behind Mahomes and Baker?
Yeah, I bet Josh Allen's high just because people expect the bills to turn it on and he's Josh Allen.
But Daniel Jones needs to be in the conversation.
This is not a fluky 6 and 1.
It's Mahomes at plus 125, Josh Allen at plus 360, Baker at plus 700,
Drake May at plus 800, Stafford at plus 1,000.
Where's Daniel Jones?
I put Daniel Jones a buck,
$2,500 behind Stafford,
golf, and Prescott.
They have the best record in football.
How is he behind Jared golf?
Like, he's six and one.
They have the best record, and they were awful.
I guess people, well, where's Jonathan Taylor?
Is he on the list?
He is at plus 6,000 behind Sam Donald, Justin Herbert, Jalen Huron.
So you're telling me between Daniel Jones and Jonathan Taylor,
I can't get anybody better than 25 to 1?
You can get Lamar Jack.
at plus 3,500.
Stop it.
Come on.
And Jonathan Taylor,
plus 6,000.
I can't believe you.
Okay.
Let's go through those.
Josh Allen, I guess if they went out,
people want to give it to Josh Allen, fair enough.
Who'd you say was third?
Baker, plus 700.
I'm okay with that.
Drake May.
Still feel like I said plus 700 is pretty good odds for Baker.
Drake May.
No.
Drake May does not get to win.
No.
He's been awesome.
He's not above Daniel Jones.
Then you have Stafford at plus 1,000.
And they go golf at plus 1800.
No, no.
DAC at plus 2,000.
Well, now, I actually think DAC has a better case than some of these other guys.
The problem is they're going to lose too many games for DAC.
But if you're just talking about how he's played, I mean, Dak has a –
Jerry Golf at Plus 1800 is criminal.
Daniel Jones has the second highest quarterback rating in the NFL.
It's not like he's just out there.
Who's first?
He's been insane. He's on a six-win team and he's doing that.
He's not turning it over.
You can add in the whole comeback story from leaving New York.
I hate the Colts, but you have to tip your cap to what they've done and what Daniel Jones has done this year.
If they did the voting this week, Mahomes would win.
But I think Baker or Daniel Jones would come in second, wouldn't they?
Yeah, I would say that.
Yeah.
Because Josh Allen, you're just assuming the bills are going to turn it on and probably went out, lose one or two, and being the AFC championship.
But in this moment, Daniel Jones has answered every test.
And then they would have beaten the Rams if not for the guy, not holding on to the ball at the end zone.
They could be undefeated right now.
That is amazing to me.
I did not watch the late game.
I'm going to go ahead and tell you, even though we are an official NFL podcast endorsed, well, can I say that we're endorsed by the NFL?
I'm looking at the logo right behind you.
I mean, I'll say Roger Goodell, we talk a lot.
And like he's a huge fan of what we do.
And we work for the NFL.
Yes.
I mean, this is basically an NFL extension.
We'll see him at the Christmas party coming up for me.
You think we'll get back at the Christmas party?
Maybe we'll just.
draw, Raj and the gift
change.
Oh, you think they do a Santa
exchange?
We're probably in that.
Yeah.
I want to get Jerry Jones.
I have a lot of things I could get him.
But I didn't watch the Seahawks, Texas.
Matter of fact, I didn't watch one play.
When I went to bed, I think it was 14 to nothing.
I woke up and saw it was like, what, 2619.
I'm going to assume it was awesome,
but I can't even tell you what happened.
Was there anything I miss?
that mattered. Well, I made the commitment
to stay up and watch it. Because
you're an NFL A&A. Exactly. If football's
on my TV, it takes priority.
Once it got to 14-0
in the first quarter, and those eyelids
starting getting heavy, you know, if it's a close game, I'd fight
him. I might even stand up, walk around the house,
but I surrendered to those eyelids as the game went on. And there was also, to be
fair, a great baseball. I mean, it was game seven,
Mariners, Blue Jays. I mean, that's pretty big.
And, you know, Gilded Age. I mean, there's a lot
of things happening that take,
that take precedent.
There was a viral moment.
Did you see Jackson Smith and Jigba when he was on the bench, like, getting beat up by the other team?
And the ref kind of hugs him and just becomes like a shield for him.
I saw that.
So why was he getting beat up?
I saw the video and it looked like they're, we all need a friend as good as that ref was for Jackson Smith and Jigba.
Why was he getting beat up?
Typical scrum.
I don't know what actually started.
Did you have the moment that set them?
He was on the other side line.
Won't you get trapped in there?
He was on the Texas sideline and you need to get out.
is he sitting on the bench?
He just got pushed over that guy.
Kind of the play took him that way.
And then when you're on the other side line with no help, all bets are off.
However, that's when that ref came in, above and beyond the call of duty.
I agree.
I feel like he didn't have to do that.
He's a neutral party.
He could have said, Jackson, what happens to you?
I'm over here observing.
But like secret service through it, just covered him.
So let's give the award for best and worse security.
Best security of the week, this referee, for giving the.
the security to Jackson Smith in Jigba.
Worst security of the week, the Louvre, where the security guards, when they broke in,
left, which apparently that is the policy.
If you ever heard, the Louvre had about $108 million worth of jewels.
Did you see that?
That's what it is.
That is an unbelievable amount.
But apparently, when they broke in, the security guards ran out the door, not because
they were afraid because that is the policy at the loop.
No confrontation, which as I said earlier, makes me think, why do you have a security
guard?
If it's no confrontation, then what's the point of them even being in there?
This is the exact same situation as the grocery chain I worked in high school.
I won't say its name, but they said if someone's shoplifting, it's not your job to stop
them, let them go.
And I thought, well, as an employee, I kind of feel like I should do something.
Nope, let them go.
So maybe at the Louvre, they're like, get out of the way.
They say that to people at banks, too.
Yeah.
They say when you ride with them, just give them the money and go away.
I actually got in trouble.
I saw a shoplifter and pushed a whole cart full of meat out.
It wasn't like a little pickpocket thing.
And I followed them out and got their license plate number.
And I got in trouble.
Oh, you got in trouble for following them outside.
Because we're not supposed to get involved.
I'm like, well, sorry for trying to help with the crime here.
So I feel like the Louvre has the, yes.
I've got trouble just for going to getting the last.
They're very adamant about do not get involved at this particular chain I won't name.
So the Louvre has the same policy.
So what level of getting involved would you do?
So for instance, let's say somebody came in here and wanted to steal Drew.
Please, guys.
Billy, would you try to stop them?
Yes, because it's Drew.
But what would you do?
I'd get in between them and Drew.
You would be the man in the middle.
So the armed robber comes in here to take Drew.
and you would get up and get in between.
Yes.
So you're doing the official.
His name's Nate Jones, by the way.
You would Nate Jones me if they were trying to steal me.
Yes.
I would go over, Drew, just like the ref.
I would run out of the door, like the woof guy.
I would leave.
I would go ahead and leave.
And they would go, no, would you like to?
And I'd be like, my policy.
It's company policy.
It's non-confrontation.
You win.
You can take Drew.
Please leave Mario.
But you can take Drew.
and then, yeah, that's probably what I would do.
So when it's fight or flight, your fight and your flight.
Definitely flight.
Fighting has never worked for anyone.
Well, Billy, I appreciate that you would just lay your body on me like, hey, Jones.
Aaron Tippen said, you've got to stand for something or you'll fall for anything.
I'm falling for anything.
Same policy at Dick's sporting goods, too.
Must be a big chain thing.
Don't stop the shoplifter.
Just let them leave.
I did one time see many years ago a person at Chipotle smack a customer for trying to reach into the...
So, Chipotle apparently is much more...
Nobody's still in their jewels.
Yeah, and you would think, like, a guy was just trying to reach into the cash register just to take, like, what dollars he could get.
And this woman just smacked him across the face.
The Louvre could use her.
Yeah.
Nate Jones and that woman, if they were going to the Louvre, there would still be jewels.
So, Chipotle has a confrontation policy.
So Nate Jones would be a good Chipotle employee.
Jackson Smith and Jigbo, by the way, 819 yards leads the league in receiving.
Yeah, he's killing it.
Puka had that lead for a while, but him being out a little bit,
JSN is taking over.
All right, there's some news tidbits.
Let's start with Roger Goodell today.
He announced that they would not be changing bad bunny at the Super Bowl.
The NFL will not reconsider bad bunny.
Roger Cadell said Picking Bad Bunny was carefully thought through.
I'm not sure we've ever selected artists where we didn't have some blowback or criticism.
It's pretty hard to do when you have literally millions of people.
We're confident it's going to be a great show.
It's going to be exciting and a united moment.
Are you glad that they said the bunny will still be there?
Yes.
And I think he said something that I completely agree with about how you can't please everyone.
because I can't remember a Super Bowl party
where someone's not complaining about the musical.
That's true.
It doesn't matter who it is.
Who would be the most universally liked person to play the Super Bowl?
Like if they said, okay, this person's it,
you would hear the fewest complaint.
We often bring up Dolly as like someone that's very popular.
But in this setting, I don't know if it's a Super Bowl show.
Yeah, so I'm actually throwing her out,
even though I think she's one of the most likable people.
I think Dolly is the most unified.
Dolly Parton is the most unifyingly likable person, but I don't think if she comes out and going,
Jolene, Jolene, I don't know that people are going to be rocking.
So who are the hot, I mean.
Well, okay, so who has been the most universally liked was probably Prince.
Yeah, right?
Also a great.
But I bet you when they announced Prince, there were people like, oh, like purple.
You're wearing that outfit
Game blouses
He's got that little curl
He don't like that one bit
But then in hindsight
Everybody loves it
But I bet you in the moment
That people didn't necessarily like it
Right?
Yeah
Michael Jackson
Yeah but that
In hindsight
I don't know if it would have been universal
In the moment though
I mean that was the 91 Super Bowl
where you had Whitney Houston sing the national anthem and then Michael Jackson.
I mean, that's probably the highlight of people going, this is wonderful, right?
But we're also in a war and people tend to unify more in a war.
So that might have been part of it too.
Any name I come up with, I can already think of a group that's going to complain.
Well, I'm running down the list of the most popular people and someone out there would complain about it.
Jennifer Lopez and Shakira was pretty unifying.
Not for my ex-girlfriend.
she did not like that one bit.
Yeah, there's nobody.
People say, well, you could have a country artist,
but like you got to remember, you know,
60% of America doesn't listen to country music at all.
So like they wouldn't have any idea who these people were, right?
Now the year that, and it messed up a little bit,
but they had like Aerosmith, wasn't that the same as Janet Jackson?
They had like seven different timber like seven different.
Like seven different kinds of music be a part of it.
But they also tried to do a lot and they ended up with a wardrobe malfunction.
That's true.
I mean, you do have to be careful.
I'm for Bad Bunny.
Look, the, you know, there's a lot of, sometimes people in America think there's only one country, right?
There are other countries.
And even within this country, like Bad Bunny is the biggest artist in the world.
How do you look and say this is the biggest artist in the world?
We don't want it.
So I think it's good.
Now, I don't know one of his songs.
at all, never heard one, except the one whose name I've forgotten, the one that goes,
is wrestling entrance music.
I hope he plays that one.
It was a great intro in wrestling when he did that.
That's one of the better ones.
Yeah, so if he plays that one, I'll know it.
But I'm looking forward to it.
And I think it would be good if he had little bunnies jumping around.
Oh, bad ones too.
You know, also, I can't name a bad bunny song, but instead of being closed-minded,
you could use this as an opportunity to be like, oh, maybe I'll hear what's so.
I'll learn.
Maybe I'll see why millions and millions and millions and millions of people like this.
Do we know who's doing the national anthem?
I have not heard that.
You really want to just make it Lee Greenwood.
They have not announced the national team.
The last time I turned the channel during halftime was to watch the rock wrestle mankind on Raw in like 1999.
Did you know they did that?
I didn't know.
They had a wrestling match at halftime on, they wrestled in an empty around.
arena. And it was a big deal. It was like a halftime slam or something like that.
Oh. But they haven't done that in a while. Got the puppy bowl too. It's just a lot of options.
In Living Color one time had a halftime show too. No, they did. They did live skits during
halftime one time. I've watched that. Yeah. But nowadays everybody just can sense. The Super Bowl is the one
thing that brings us together. I'm looking forward to bad buddy.
The NFL also announced today that the Pro Bowl activities are now moved to Super Bowl week and will be part of the Super Bowl week.
You think that's good?
Yeah, the Pro Bowl, they've tried the different format.
They're mixing it up.
For whatever reason, it just doesn't get the eyeballs.
It should.
The NFL wins and everything it touches.
But the Pro Bowl, I think, is better off being paired with the Super Bowl.
That week, it's almost like people take a deep breath before the Super Bowl.
comes around a week later.
I like that they're making it a part of the bigger thing now.
Yeah, I do too, and I think that, you know, I don't know what they do now.
Do they still, what is the event?
Is it like beach volleyball?
Well, not volleyball.
That wouldn't make sense.
They're playing horseshoes.
They went flag football recently.
So that's been the new format.
Many games, like they try to hit a target.
Yeah, skills challenges.
I do like having it the week of.
I mean, I think, you know,
I think that will make it to where you're more likely to watch the events than the week after when people have kind of moved on, right?
Yeah, and those guys probably love to go into Hawaii and Florida or wherever it's been.
But, you know, being a part of the bigger festivities, I know they'd rather be in the game.
But just the Super Bowl, the whole week, everyone just all media descends upon it.
I just think putting these skills games and non-contact stuff with that is a good idea.
Now, there's some chatter that we might get to go to the Super Bowl.
Oh, that you're going to say being the Pro Bowl.
I'll do some skills challenges.
I'm in. I have never been to the Super Bowl.
It's in Santa Clara, California, which I guess is close to San Francisco.
People put all those cities and act like they're right next to you.
San Jose, San Francisco, Oakland, Santa Clara, Palo Alto.
I don't know where any of them are.
But I think it's out there.
If we go to the Super Bowl, I am volunteering to the NFL.
I'll be the official Pro Bowl reporter.
I'll go to all the activities.
We'll do recap so on here.
I'll do the beach volleyball game.
This sounds perfect.
And if there's not one, we'll just play.
Yeah.
I feel like I've seen they, I think they once had a reporter game.
Did you know that?
No.
I want to say one one time at the Pro Bowl, they had a reporter game because Ryan Rusillo tore his ACL in it, I think.
Okay.
That might be completely made up.
I can go at Kyle Brandt on the field.
Yeah, but I'm excited about it.
I think it's a smart decision.
And, you know, the two teams in the Pro Bowl don't or in the Super Bowl don't get to play,
but chances are those guys weren't going to play anyway.
Some news, the Jets, quarterback.
I know a lot of people are excited about the 0-N-7 Jets and who's going to be their quarterback.
Aaron Glenn says no decision has been made whether it will be, whether it will be Justin Fields,
Tyrod Taylor, or someone else.
I like the or someone else.
Yeah, and their owner kind of came out and defended Aaron Glenn and basically just back the bus over Justin Fields.
Can he say about Aaron Glenn, we hug each other every day or something?
Something along those lines.
That's a lot of hugging.
Yeah.
And it was a big vote of confidence for a winless coach.
Yeah, which is good.
But the situation, it seems they're putting it on fields of what's been the problem
up to this point.
And Tyrod Taylor's now day to day with a knee injury as of today.
Oh, he is.
Well, then the or someone else might be.
But who would the other person be?
I don't know who there's third quarterback is.
Is there someone sitting at home going?
could be me.
There's some phones that do you know what I think it should be Joe Flacco.
The moment Burrow gets healthy, just get him over there.
Joe Flacco should be allowed to go from team to team.
He's like all-time quarterback for everybody.
I would like that.
They currently don't have a backup on the roster, so they'll have to.
Oh, it is Joe Flacko.
Give someone a phone call.
Shador Sanders.
Who is their third string?
They don't have one.
They don't have a third string.
They might have one on the practice roster.
So they really have to go find somebody.
Brady Cook, practice squad.
Who's Brady Cook?
Is that the Missouri quarterback?
He was about second year ago?
Yeah.
Oh.
Well, he'd be good.
He's an option.
I'd like to see him.
He can't be worse.
Well, I'm going to bet on the Jets this week since they may be,
since there are people roaming the streets who might end up being the quarterback.
Jaden Daniels is out this week.
That's part of the reason that game against the Chiefs is a 12-and-a-half point spread.
When I saw his injury, I thought.
like he was it was bad bad you know the way he went collapsed they're saying it's a hamstring
might just be out this might be the only game he's out but it looked a lot worse in the moment
yeah prom-time game it is at kansas city i mean i know they're not going to surrender that one
but you're probably going to lose it regardless but important to get him back because they had
high aspirations after a year ago and it's going the wrong direction right now this is a peyton and
Eli game, they're going to have to step up.
They got a big spread.
They got Marcus Marriota who cut his hair after you made fun of how wild it was.
Which proves he's listening.
Still a little gray, but like just for men kind of, what do they call it, blend.
Yeah, he got the blend done.
He got the blend.
The blend is good.
Do you think he knew there's a chance of money night football is coming up?
He probably saw Jaden's handstring, still not perfect.
He thought, I got to get ready for this.
just 4K TV game coming up.
The woman that cuts my hair likes to do the blend.
And she sometimes, I think she messes around with the blend.
I think she sometimes blends me a little more, a little less.
And I've thought it's by how much I give her a hard time during the thing.
Well, when I'm nice to her, I get darker hair.
If I make fun of her because she went on a date with someone,
then I end up a little more gray over the course of the time.
And it's sneaky because it doesn't start showing itself for like a week or two.
And I'll go, she got me again.
That's a slippery slope because if you go too far, we all know the people that we, it's like we know you had gray hair.
And now it's jet black.
Like you can't go too far.
No, you can't.
I don't want to look like George Clooney in that play.
Oh, that's right.
Or Giuliani was dripping down his face.
Giuliani, yeah, when he was dripping down his face.
A good blend is what you got to stick with.
Trying to think, who are the best dyed hair jobs?
Oh, Vince McMahon.
Vince McMahon.
And Carlos Boozer, but his was just Sharpie, I think.
Which I think Marcus Freeman did that last week for Notre Dame.
Oh, you do?
Are you accusing Marcus Freeman of a Sharpie job?
He went and got a hat at halftime, and he's never worn a hat before the internet spotted him.
Oh, you think somebody told him and said they're making fun of you.
It's not me.
The internet was being mean on Saturday.
I was just a participant on the internet reading.
Yeah, I'm citing other sources, but there is a belief that he might have overbelief.
blended on Saturday.
Well, I do think Karen that guts my hair.
I think she's, because it's never quite to say.
And sometimes she'll have a sly look on her face.
It's like, you're going to pay for this in three weeks.
I've worried every time I get a haircut, mine is coming in strong.
So I've got to be careful in the Marriota jokes.
I prepare to be gray in like two years.
I'm at that age.
It's coming on fast.
Are you going to just let it go?
Yeah, it is what it is.
But you're married.
You can do that.
Yeah, but I think I could rock a silver fox if I had to.
You know, if I need to.
Can you call yourself a Silver Fox?
I guess that is complimenting yourself a little bit.
But I mean, some people run from it.
They think their life's over.
If my hair turns gray, it's gray.
Let's live with it.
You life's not over.
But some people freak out over a gray hair.
Whatever, I'm getting old.
Bring it on.
Okay.
I already get out of breath and my knees hurt walking up steps.
What's a gray hair?
I'll tell you what's a humbly moment.
This happened to me.
When you start getting gray chest hairs.
Because like the gray chest hair, first of all,
Nobody's die in their chest.
Will you blend this, Karen?
Yeah, I've never asked her to do that.
That's a little more intimate than I usually feel with my hairdresser.
But that's a humbly moment when you go, oh, okay, you're that guy.
The clock just keeps turning.
That's right.
You're not going to be able to stop it.
All right.
Let's move.
We're going to get some news headlines from our guy, Billy.
You're up to bat.
What's your first one?
Yeah, we got to start with the drama between Russell Wilson and Sean Payton.
Explain this to me.
because I didn't totally understand.
Yeah, so after the Broncos came back to beat the Giants last week,
Sean Payton was speaking in the post-game press conference
and had a subtle shot at Russell Wilson.
He said they found a little spark with Jackson Dart.
We were hoping that change would have happened,
or would have happened long after our game.
So Russell Wilson, who previously played in Denver with Sean Peyton,
I guess Sean Peyton doesn't have a very high opinion.
He is saying that he wishes Russell Wilson was still the quarterback
for when they played last week.
Correct, yes.
That's a brutal thing to say.
Russell Wilson responded on Twitter.
He was not subtle.
He said, classless.
He went on to say,
didn't realize you're still bounty hunting
15 plus years later through the media.
Let's ride.
Okay, so my general reaction is,
I generally think Russell Wilson
is one of the lamer sports figures of all time.
With that said, I'm kind of with him on this one.
This is your former coach taking a shot directly at you.
I think Russell was fine to clap back.
How about you?
I agree.
And I first saw this on like an Instagram screenshot.
And I thought it was fake.
I did too.
Because I couldn't imagine Russell Wilson doing this.
I closed Instagram, went to Russell Wilson's Twitter account.
It had to make sure it was really him because I couldn't believe.
You act like you don't have saved Russell Wilson's Twitter account.
I mean, you have to understand.
Danger Russ.
Drew gets motivation.
advice from Mr. Unlimited.
Well, I'm looking for the subway coupons.
He has his quotes up on the mirror.
Mr. Unlimited.
Tell me what I should do today.
Unlimited.
But of all the people in the NFL, I would expect this last from Russell Wilson.
That tells me how much he and Sean Payton doesn't get along because he seems to have snapped.
Like, Sean Payton got under his skin enough that he made Russell Wilson go after someone.
He's not wrong at all, but he's kind of a nice guy, kind of corny.
We've never seen anything really like this.
from him, but Sean Payton must get under his skin that much.
Who do you think is objectively more unlikable?
John Payton.
Oh, really?
I said this Wednesday when Sean Payton got that penalty against the Giants.
I wanted them to lose just so Sean Payton would have to live with that.
So what is it about Sean Payton you don't like?
I'll admit it's more secondhand.
It's like right now, if you search his name, there are other athletes.
Like finally someone said it.
And then, of course, the Bountygate thing.
pre-frowned upon back in the day.
It was a long time ago.
Teams had changed.
That was where they like, he was giving bounties to hurt people.
A literal price on people.
But I guess it's more of just observing what people are saying.
But there are a lot of people defending Russell Wilson right now.
And I just think that says a lot about Peyton.
He kind of looks like an 80s movie bully.
Like, because he's got that little snarl on his face.
And he kind of looks like he would talk about you behind your back.
So I get what you're saying.
I just can't believe I'm taking up for Russell Wilson.
Now, with that said, Sean Payton was right.
It would have been better for them had Russell Wilson been the quarterback.
So Sean Payton was telling truth.
Aren't we just mad that he was telling the truth?
Well, that's another angle of this.
Like, Sean Payton, it's not as bad as Russell Wilson probably took it.
He's just saying they should go to Dart.
Okay, they went to Dart and it's been pretty good since.
So, I mean, it's not like he was wrong.
I think Russell just didn't like hearing it.
And it's kind of revealing more of those two's relationships.
than what was actually said.
It is amazing also, though, to see, like, you know, Russell Wilson, when he leaves a place,
people say mean things.
You know, a lot of his Seattle teammates have kind of hinted stuff.
Richard Sherman did famously on that Amazon game a few years ago.
Well, they say he has a persona.
So we are on this one, we are on Sean Payton side.
Or no, excuse me, Russell Wilson.
Yes, because I can't believe someone got Russell Wilson to snap.
Hey.
Mr. going out in leather.
Maybe he snaps more often than Arillo.
Mr. Unlimited.
Let's score one for the leather jacket side and Russell Wilson.
What's next?
The Baltimore Sun is reporting that after the Ravens fell to one in five on the season,
they have now removed the player's ping pong table, video game consoles,
basketball hoop, and cornhole boards from their locker room.
Wow, that's a punishment.
No ping pong tape.
Or video games.
So it's supposed to be like you all need to focus on the game.
It's time to think about football.
I mean, I get the idea of it, but I also.
think it sort of sends a message to your fans that these guys were too focused on ping pong
and that's why they lost, which I think is probably a little unfair to them.
I need to know how much ping pong they're playing.
This seems like they have a severe ping pong problem.
Like how many hours a day is the ping pong distracting them that you have to pull it out
of the building?
What are they hoping they'll do instead of the ping pong?
Hit each other?
Study their playbook, maybe.
Build some camaraderie.
Yeah, I think that's a little bit like, you know,
we follow Kentucky basketball.
And somebody will take a picture of the players like at the movies.
And somebody will go, I should stop watching movies and go be shooting in the gym.
And I'd go, well, don't they get a movie?
Occasionally.
That's kind of how I feel.
I mean, how much you got to give them the body a break, right?
Yeah, I remember one of the basketball players that missed a free throw in a big tournament game, PJ Washington.
But then like six months later, he put a video or a picture up where he went and had dinner.
with his family.
They're like, why aren't you shooting fruit throws?
It's like, can't the man go eat?
Stop eating new chicken fingers.
Shoot you fritos.
So is that what Ravens fans are doing now?
Yeah, I think that's right.
Why?
I'm sorry, I can't do the impersonation anymore.
And you said cornhole boards?
I also will note, it feels like they're not really spending all that much on entertainment.
I mean, cornhole boards, basketball, who.
and a ping pong table.
I mean, I've seen high school workouts that have better facilities than that.
We're talking about multimillionaires who can do whatever they want at any given moment,
and you're worried they're being distracted by the cornhole boards.
I don't know.
I'm not in for it.
I'm with you.
I think it sends a message to everyone else that they're just around the facility doing nothing but playing these games.
Yeah.
I'm with you.
I'm with you on that.
What's next?
We have an interesting Sunday night game this week.
Green Bay is at the Steelers in Pittsburgh,
and there's been some issues with the playing surface in Pittsburgh
with their grass field.
So Mike Tomlin was asked about it today,
and he had a funny response.
When asked about the field conditions,
he said, I am not a grass expert.
I ain't cut my grass in a long, long time.
I coach football.
I'm a stay in my lane.
I don't even know who cuts my grass.
That's a little out of touch.
I mean, I understand he hasn't cut his grass.
When he said, don't even know who cut my grass.
I mean, if I was the guy cutting his grass,
I'll be like, you can at least know my name.
I'm cutting your grass.
You don't have to act like I'm not a human being, Mike.
My name's Bob.
Okay, I'm a Steelers fan.
Lifelong.
I tell all my friends I cut your grass.
You probably does.
And you cannot just know my name.
Somebody check on Bob.
Bob's got to be taking this hard.
He's been at the bar calling himself Mike Tomlin's Gardner for 10 years and no one's
believed him and then Mike just completely
sabotages him. And you know he's like, Mike gives me
a big bonus. Sometimes he invites me in.
We play ping pong. And then Mike's
like, I know the hell you are.
Who else does he throw under the bus?
Is his chef? Do they have a name? Oh, you should
see what he says about his driver.
Well, he doesn't throw the Fields Stadium crew under the bus.
I think that's the ones that actually deserve it?
Probably. Haven't we been having this problem with
Pittsburgh's field for years?
Yes.
Why is it so much harder than everywhere else?
Like, Pittsburgh's not known for having terrible weather.
Like, what's the issue?
I think a lot of it is, like, the concerts that they have there around the same time.
These venues are constantly used.
And so what, it's a grass field?
Just out of curiosity.
This is based on any information.
Do you have any idea how many concerts have been at Hinesfield?
No, no.
They filmed a Batman movie there.
Oh, helicopter landings.
I mean, I do think it's fair to say that if you say with confidence,
I think it's because of the concerts,
you should know whether they have any concerts.
I'm going to assume they've had a couple.
Yeah.
I think the bigger problem is how all of the groundskeepers feel underappreciated
that no one knows their name.
That may be part of it.
Pitt plays there as well.
Could it be that Pitt plays like on Saturday and then there's a game Sunday?
Have a concert in between?
Don't forget the Saturday night concert.
I don't know that they have a concert then on Saturday night.
Pit at noon, jelly roll at nine, Steelers at one.
No wonder their grass is.
But they do.
I feel like this has been an issue.
Now, I think there was a game a few weeks ago where I saw where the grass literally was coming up out of the field.
So it feels like something they ought to fix.
It is.
But then you have the turf people begging for grass.
It's like, what is the perfect field that we can get everyone?
Like no one likes their field no matter who they are or where they are.
I prefer grass.
Me too.
Okay, because for me, I want to see after a tackle.
I want to see guys be dirty.
I don't like seeing the little rubber pellets come up after a play.
I want to see mud and I want to see when it rains.
It's slippery.
Like, that's part of it, right?
Definitely.
Which NFL coach, we're going to assume most of them don't cut their grass.
That wasn't breaking news from Mike Tom.
Do you think any of them cut their own grass?
Dan Campbell with his shirt off.
I can definitely see Dan waving at the neighbors.
In a beer.
Yeah, I could see that.
Like an hour after the game, too.
He goes straight home and cuts the grass.
I can tell you who has never even seen a lawnmower is Mike McDade.
Mike McDaniel would run from any sort of technical.
First of all, Mike McDaniel probably lives in a 15-story, a condo building.
Yeah.
Right, right down from a restaurant that he goes.
too every night. And with those exposed ankles,
he could cut himself, trimming the sidewalk.
That was one of the things
Larry used to always say to me,
don't wear shorts when you
mow. Get a stick through you.
I don't even know if that's true, but I was always very careful.
99 degrees, I'd still be wearing jeans
out there because I didn't want to get a stick
through me. Not the Caprize.
All right, so that game, Packer Steelers, by the way,
one of only two games this week
where both teams have a winning record.
Without looking at your schedule,
do you know the other game besides Packer Steelers
where both teams have a winning record?
I'm trying to run through.
There's so many lopsided spreads this week.
I'll be impressed if you get this.
Yeah, I don't have it.
You may guess?
I don't have it off the top of my head.
Bill's Panthers.
Yeah.
Panthers are four and three right now.
Bill's Panthers.
So if I told you there'd be two games
where both teams have a winning record
with Chiefs commanders on the schedule
and one of them was Bill's Panthers.
Would you have ever believed that?
No.
I mean,
I knew the Panthers had a winning record.
I did slip my mind right on the schedule
because it's their first time being above 500 in several years.
And it's the, you know,
Josh Allen, Bryce Young showdown that we've all been,
actually maybe not, yeah,
maybe Josh Allen.
Are we getting Andy Dalton again?
Unless there's been new news on Bryce Young,
it's still up in the air.
I do love me.
But what a matchup for your.
other game of winning teams. The Red Rocket
is coming back. All right, what's next?
Two more. Denver Broncos linebacker
Dre Greenlaw has been suspended
one game after he chased down
and verbally threatened a ref
after the game versus the Giants on Sunday.
Greenlaw's one game suspension was
upheld so he will not be available to play
the Dallas Cowboys. What was his beef?
I think it goes back to the past interference
in the end zone that
several plays before.
Yes, Sean Payton was livid throughout the game
on a lot of things. So I'm not sure
if there was one play or if it was the whole game.
But he chased down the ref after.
But they won.
It was as the Philgo goes to the uprights, he runs to the ref and is just in his face.
But they won.
Exactly.
Like, I mean, I understand I would have a little more sympathy if they lost, but they won the game.
Like, dude, chill.
And his teammates are celebrating, like they're running on to the field because it just
went through the uprights.
Instead of celebrating with them, he's chasing down the referee to yell at him.
That's somebody who wants to win an argument too much.
Like, you won the game, man.
Come on.
Like, what do you, if I'm the ref, like, what do you, look at the scoreboard, man.
What do you want for me?
Congratulations.
I, I had an argument with an ex a long time.
It was a long time ago.
It was like 10 or 12 years ago.
And I, uh, the person apologized to me was like, you're right.
I'm wrong.
And I just kept arguing the point.
And they said they were sorry again.
And I just kept arguing.
And then finally she said, what would you like me to do?
write a note to your mother?
And I was like,
yes.
Write a note to my mom and say,
but there comes a point where you're like,
okay, that's too much.
What else do you want to do?
You won the game.
Yeah,
there's a lot of Broncos fans I saw
that think there's some big conspiracy against them.
I always love that.
Why would there be a conspiracy against the Broncos?
The Giants.
Who would hate the Broncos?
Like in the league office,
it's like, well, we got to make sure the Giants,
win in Denver. I don't even know what storyline
they would be going for, but Broncos fans
thought the fix was in. Drey Greenlaw
included. My favorite one of those
is many years ago, VCU
was in the Final Four, and
I was assigned by CBS to cover
VCU for their game.
And I heard a VCU fan
say, those colonial
riffs always hate us.
I was like, you really think
there's a conspiracy in the colonial
conference against
VCU. Everybody comes together
and goes, we cannot let these VCU guys win.
Sounds about like Giants fans right now.
In what scenario are they creating that?
I don't know.
What's next?
Brown's head coach, Kevin Stefanski, has said that Sanders is not getting starter reps behind Gabriel.
Yeah, Shadur Sanders.
He is not getting starter reps behind Gabriel.
This is news.
D.
D.J.
You're saying all these people like you're one-name people.
Well, we're an NFL show.
but yeah, I should probably say both.
So this is news because when Flacco was there,
DG was constantly getting the starter's reps in practice,
but now DG's the starter,
and Sanders is not getting any of the starter reps.
Stefansky has said, well, it's different
when Joe Flacco's a veteran and there's a lot to learn.
I mean, what can DG really teach?
It's different for SS than it is for DG.
Yeah, right.
Understand.
I don't know this is a big story.
Dylan Gabriel, I mean, he won last week, right?
He's been looking pretty good.
He's got a little better each week.
I mean, Shador's not going to play.
I don't know.
During the season, I'm not sure how much backups get reps anyway.
So I don't think this is a big deal.
Do you have any interest in watching Shadoor play?
Like, if I told you, you know, I'd love to see Shadur in a game, do you care or is it like, it doesn't matter?
Week one, maybe.
But the more we hear that he doesn't even.
get reps and that when Flacco left, they're like, we have to find someone out there to be behind
Gabriel. It just tells me there's nothing to see. I mean, they see him every day. And if they're
not seeing anything, I'm not going to get excited to watch it. I'm just going to assume he's not cut out for it.
But if Dylan Gabriel were to get hurt or get binged, and then there was a week leading up to a
Brown's game. I mean, it would have a lot of hype, right? Everybody would want to see
Chidor play in that moment. Yeah, just, I guess at this point, it's more about not the excitement of
the name, just the expectations.
It just sounds like he doesn't have it at this point because the Browns, at any moment,
if you ask about Shador, they're quick to talk about how he's not really an option.
Yeah.
All right.
Well, now it's time to make some picks.
And what we do here on this show is it's time for the victory bundle presented by Liberty Mutual.
Each week we give you three games that we say are we're going to pick against the spread and that will be your victory bundle.
So we do them each week.
I'm going to go first, Drew.
It's the Bears and the Ravens.
The Ravens are a six and a half point favorite because Lamar is back.
I think the Ravens might win the game,
but I think you give me six and a half with a Bears team that's played well anyway.
Ravens were one and two even when Lamar played.
So I'm going to go ahead and take the Bears as part of my victory bundle.
All right.
What's your pick?
Well, I want to say on that, when the schedule, or Monday, when I saw all the lines for every game,
the one that jumped out of me were your bears.
I thought that was too many points with the Ravens team that's been crap.
And this is before I even learned about the ping pong tables and the cornhole boards.
They're going to be sad.
So I didn't even know that was going to be your pick, but I really like that one.
All right.
So what's yours?
You know, I always like fading Tennessee, but that spread is 14 and a half points.
14.5 points.
So I'm looking, Dally,
at Denver.
Okay.
Dallas's defense has been a little improved.
There's still a problem.
They're a three and a half point under, dog.
Yeah, that offense has been spectacular,
especially last week with CDE back.
They are so fun to watch.
We're not even talking about the running back Williams enough
because Pickens has been so good.
So I like the Dallas offense to keep,
well, I can't talk,
keep lighting it up and maybe even win that game in Denver.
So you're taking Cowboys plus three and a half.
Yes.
You got Bears plus six and a half.
Cowboys was three and a half.
I'll do the third one for the bundle.
How about Sunday night football?
I'm going to take the Steelers.
Aaron Rogers, you tell me,
Aaron Rogers against his former team,
he's getting three and a half at home.
I don't know if they win,
but I feel like they cover the three and a half.
So I'm going to make this a road dog victory bundle.
A road dog noise.
You like that?
It is.
I really like Liberty Mutuals.
Let's try that again.
It's the Liberty Mutual Road Dog,
victory bundle.
I'm sure they'll stick with that one.
I'll work on my barking between now and next week.
We'll keep the record for this.
You guys were two and one last week.
We were.
That's called being in the green.
That's kind of a bundle.
And so this was the Victory Bundle presented by Liberty Mutual.
Start your quote and get your wins with the road dogs.
Liberty Mutual.
dot com.
Mr. Q there, but that's okay.
On that pick, we need one thing to happen, and I love it.
What's that?
The Micah Parsons, that was in the fourth quarter last week,
can't get near Aaron Rogers.
So the Steelers' offensive line, keep him on his feet.
It did look like he just turned it up there at the end.
All right.
So looking at the games, those are three of our picks.
Let's go quickly.
Thursday night, Vikings and Chargers.
Any interest in that game in L.A.?
I have a lot of interest because these are two teams that are a little below what they thought they'd be right now.
Chargers have to figure out that offensive line.
They're going to get Justin Herbert killed.
If you look at the QB pressure stats, hits, all of that, he's getting hit more than about anybody in the league for what was a contender a month ago.
So if they don't resolve that, they have big time problems.
But then Vikings also, their quarterback situation shaky.
Yeah, still probably going with Carson this week.
Jets and Bengals, we don't know who'll be quarterback.
quarterback, but we know Flacco is Baco. Are you excited? You're going to see old man?
I am. I didn't think Flacco in Cincinnati would work. I know it's only been one game,
but he does a good job of saying, where's Jemar Chase? I'll put it in his chest. And that was
a record 16 catches last week, so I think that continues. Speaking of somebody who does gray blending
well is Joe Flacco, Dolphins and Falcons, we keep thinking Mike Me Daniel won't make it.
He's going to Atlanta. They can't get rid of him.
I'm going to do a little parlor here.
Falcons destroy them and Mike McDaniel keeps his job another week.
I know those don't go together, but he keeps defying the odds.
I like it.
Bills and Panthers, two winning teams.
Bills are a seven-and-a-half-point favorite.
Any chance that Andy Dalton does a little Andy magic, a little red rocket?
If they do play well against the bills, it's going to be my guy, Rico, not Andy.
of all the big spreads, I think this one has the chance to get.
I do too.
I like the bills a lot.
Giants and Eagles, do the Eagles, Giants make another one competitive?
They've been playing well.
I know they lost last week, but can they Scataboo a close game?
I think they can.
I mean, they owned Denver until all hell broke loose with 33 points in the fourth quarter.
I think they found something with dark, Scataboo, got a little swagger on that team.
Maybe they don't beat the Eagles who found a new formula on offense last week, but I think they'll be in the game.
Bucks and Saints.
And this is one where the Saints, this is a, yeah, this is in New Orleans.
It's 405.
Spiro, Chris Myers, Adam Archiletta are going to be fighting over who gets to do the game.
You know, the Saints have been competitive week after week.
I'm going to go ahead and say it.
This is my Matt Jones, get ready.
Billy going to be sad pick of the week.
Saints win against the box.
You're doing a win.
Wow. They're winning
Sunday. I'm going to let you have that one on your own.
Okay. But I'm rooting for it
just for the conversations we can have on this show.
It's going to happen. And then the Titans are not going to beat the cults.
So we don't even...
14 and a half points. Come on.
That's a lot. All right. It's time for our
contest. Let's start with our Survivor League.
Drew has been out for quite some time.
Billy and I still in.
We are, you know, I saw they're only down to like 18% of the people in the Survivor League at the Circa,
and we would still be in it.
We'd still be in it, even though we took a couple weeks off.
You don't have to get specifics.
We were going to win those weeks.
Someone listening right now did not know that.
You don't have to get in all the specifics.
Oh, that's just who I am, I guess.
Yeah.
We're undefeated on picks until this week.
That's why I don't know your name.
just like Mike Tomlin's because you ruin the party like Mike Tomlin's groundskeeper.
You get to go first.
You cannot pick the Jaguars, the Cardinals, the bills, the Colts, or the Chiefs.
Who you got?
Yeah, team management getting a little tricky here.
But I'm going with a team that's red hot right now.
Give me Drake May and the Patriots to beat the Browns at home.
They're six and a half point favorites.
I think they win by double digits.
Patriots.
So you're going to take the Patriots at home.
I like that one.
Well, mine's easy.
you couldn't pick them because you had already picked them,
but I still can.
I'm going to take the Colts at home,
14.5 point favorite against the Titans.
I've done pretty well in this,
betting against your Titans.
I did it the last two weeks.
I get to do it again this week.
Yeah, and I've been betting against my Titans with real money.
That's been profitable too.
You know,
I'm not going to say it's a guarantee,
but that's about the closest thing as a guarantee on the schedule.
Yeah, I like that one quite a bit.
Okay, so now it is.
time for our touchdown league.
Last week, Billy got it with Scatibu.
He was able to get that one.
I got Devante Adams.
Did not get it.
You had Jalen Hertz.
Drew did not get it.
So the score now is Billy 3, Me 2, Drew won.
By the looks of it, I get to go first this week.
You know, I love picking the quarterbacks, but I'm running out.
Since I'm picking the Colts to win, then I'll go ahead.
and pick Jonathan Taylor to take a touchdown this week against the Titans,
14.5 point favorite.
I feel like he gets it in.
And as a running back, that'll be my pick.
Drew, you have to pick either a wide receiver or a quarterback.
Who are you going?
Last week was my first time doing a quarterback, and it didn't go well.
When Jalen Hertz didn't run, then I got problems.
So I'm going to go with a receiver.
I've already done Jamar Chase, if I'm not mistaken, right?
You have, yes.
Give me CD Lamb
CD Lamb
Denver
CD Lamb is going to be
your pick and you will have to
live with the consequences
Billy you have to pick a
quarterback it looks like you have
you have not picked a quarterback
before so you can kind of go
well no you've picked
well
I pick Jackson Dart
yeah Jackson Dart
otherwise you can
you kind of go where you want to go
where you want to go
yeah I am going to pick Caleb Williams
to score a rushing touchdown against the worst rushing defense in the league, the Baltimore Ravens.
Caleb Williams.
All right.
So if we do a parlay, you get Jonathan Taylor, C.D. Lamb, and Caleb Williams,
that would be your NFL cover zero touchdown parlay.
I actually, Drew, think I would kind of like that one.
I'm doing it right now.
I love a good touchdown parlay.
Do them every week.
This one seems like a good one.
Yeah, I like it.
Billy's been surprisingly good at this, even though,
He picks more and more obscure players.
Caleb Williams, though, not a bad one.
Oh, you should have heard my receiver pick this week.
Who was it?
Kishon Booty.
Ooh.
We can just throw that in.
You know, that's a fourth pick for you.
You want to throw a little...
Who does he play?
The Patriots.
He scored three touchdowns last two weeks.
Oh, yeah, I know him.
He was good.
Oh, yeah.
Big fan.
I hate the Patriots so much.
Why?
Bill Simmons.
Oh, okay.
I mean, and I like Bill Simmons.
But I don't want the Patriots to win because of him.
Because he's too happy?
Well, just because he comes in, like, Drake May is a superstar.
You know, everybody's always the best player that ever.
I mean, like, Luke Cornette's going to be the next Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
And you're like, come on, man.
Just give us a break with this Boston stuff for a minute.
And he's been doing this with Drake May forever.
So I've kind of wanted Drake May to be a bus.
You know, I like the guy that does a show with him, Cousin Sal,
I'll call him Drake Maybe.
I enjoy that and I kind of want them to lose for that reason.
Drake Maybe has been turning it on to more of a yes here lately, though.
He's every week looking better and better.
He helped that he played in Tennessee last week, but still looking good.
He is.
So I wanted to ask you one question.
I had a listener right in.
I'm going to read you the listener question.
Here it is.
Matt, I would like to know, rank all of you rank the three states.
that you would like to visit the most.
Okay, so three stadiums you'd like to visit the most.
Now, for me, I'll let you all think, because I've had a chance,
I've been to some stadiums.
So I'm not going to say I want to visit one that I've been to.
So I've been to Soldier Field.
I've been to the Bengals Stadium, been to the Meadowlands,
I've been to Pittsburgh, and I've been to Green Bay.
And I've been to Kansas City.
And I've been to Dallas.
So I've been to a lot of the ones that I think you would really want to go to.
So for me, it's going to be fan bases that I really want to go to.
So number one, I think it would be Buffalo.
I'd want to go to a game in Buffalo experience kind of that whole vibe, right?
Because you don't get to do that very much.
I think oddly, number two for me, is I'd like to go to a big game in Detroit now.
Because with Dan Campbell, it seems like the crowd gets so loud that it would actually be a surprising kind of amount of fun to go.
And then for my third, this is a weird pick.
But I think the misery and the sadness would be emanating in the air in a way that would be exciting.
So I'm going to say Cleveland for the third one.
I've been there.
Because I would like to kind of feel the pain in a group.
setting. What about you?
You're going to sit in the dog pound?
Oh, definitely.
There you go.
Liberty Mutual.
Bundle.
I've been to Arrowhead, Lambo,
the iconic ones.
I've been there, yeah.
As growing up a Cowboys fan,
I haven't seen Jerry World for football.
I've seen it for a basketball game.
Oh, you've never been.
Well, that has to be number.
So number one, I just never seen the Cowboys in person,
and that was my childhood team.
And my wife's team, she's been wanting to go.
That's like our bucket list.
We'll get to that soon.
In the next couple of years, I'll be there.
But still haven't done it.
So that's number one.
Number two, I'm joining you on Buffalo.
Okay.
Got to get to Buffalo.
Really, from as much fun as I had, Buffalo, I'd have more fun.
I just have the Cowboys fandom.
So Buffalo, easy, number two.
Number three, I could go a lot of directions.
You've been to Green Bay.
You have been to Green Bay.
I've been to Green Bay, Pittsburgh.
I've been lucky to go to a lot of them.
I think, and it has nothing to do with the stadium.
I'm going Vegas.
because I would like to combine the NFL Sunday with Vegas, the Vegas experience.
So it's not so much going to Raiders games.
It has nothing to do with the Allegiance Stadium.
Okay.
It's more of the Vegas atmosphere combined with the NFL.
Okay.
All right.
That's a fair enough answer.
Billy, what about you?
So I have not been to Lambo.
So that is number three for me, Green Bay.
Look at you counting up like you're running a...
I've got to make it dramatic.
Okay.
Number two, I think it'd be SOFi.
It just looks like the pinnacle of technology when it comes to these stadiums.
So you're there for kind of the...
the bells and whistles.
Yeah, exactly.
And then number one's got to be Santa Clara, San Francisco.
If anybody's listening.
You're doing that to try to get to go to the Super Bowl.
I would love.
Interesting.
I love that.
Yeah.
That's probably smart because what if they said to us,
all right, we're going to send you to a Browns game.
It's where you guys are.
Send it to you, number one.
If you guys really want to go to a Browns game, all right, fine.
We want to send you to a Browns game.
It's like the Super Bowl.
I've driven by the stadium in Santa Clara.
They're running a game going on, but I've at least laid eyeballs on it.
So if they need someone that's experienced to get us to go, I will help lead us to where it is.
Yeah.
Santa Clara is also where Steve Nash went to college, right?
Yep.
Didn't know that.
There you go.
That's a big reason to send us there.
We can go see Steve Nash.
Did you have any honorable mentions?
Like, I almost included Soldier Field.
That's one of the older ones I've never done.
So I went there last year.
You know, I sitting here, I've forgotten how many of them I've actually been to.
I've been to the commanders.
I've been to the Eagles.
So, I mean, I've kind of been to a lot.
So not really.
A lot of the ones, okay, I mean, what if the three ones you would want to go to least?
Nissan Stadium.
That's Nashville.
Oh, I've been to that one, too.
You don't wait me.
It's last, even though it's your team.
If you've been in that second level and seen that concrete crack underneath you,
then you know what's less.
Okay, all right, fair enough.
That's why they're building a new one.
It needs, and also it need, that's why Miami,
for me, would be number one.
I want to try that.
It just feels like it has no atmosphere whatsoever during those games, right?
Not a lot of passion.
Yeah, it just doesn't feel like it would be fun.
You guys didn't like it.
I want to try the hot tubs in the Jacksonville.
Those, like, bathsubs.
Get me in there with like 15 strangers watching the game.
Yeah, just die.
If you want to go, look at the pictures on the website.
Don't look in person, especially the shot they show every game, which is the bottom half.
Yeah.
A Carolina game feels like it just be me.
Yeah.
Nothing good Charlotte.
It's a good time, but...
It's fine.
But like all of Charlotte is a bank.
Yeah.
And I've already seen the NASCAR museums.
What else is there to do?
What else is there to do?
Well, all right.
Thank you all very much.
We will be back Sunday night to talk about whatever games have occurred.
And thank you very much for listening.
