Starting point is 00:00:00 This is an I-Heart podcast. Guaranteed Human. NFL Cover Zero with Matt Jones and Drew Franklin is a production of the NFL and IHeart podcast. It is NFL Covers Zero Week 10 recap. Matt Jones and Drew Franklin here on a Sunday night. The Chargers and Steelers are winding down on a Sunday night football game that hasn't been the most exciting game in the world. But nevertheless, you know what?
Starting point is 00:00:34 You can't have every day. It can't be a blast. some great ones today and Drew and I are to care of it here. Drew, we had a big weekend. This is the seventh radio show I've done this weekend, if you count podcasts and radio. And a lot of sports and, you know, some big wins for our teams. We like Kentucky and they got a big win over Florida. Biggest win since 1950.
Starting point is 00:00:57 So you and I come into this with a good mood. Yeah, I'm very excited about that. We had our basketball team win. I even thought earlier today, you know what, I haven't seen enough sports. I'm going to go watch UK volleyball. So I haven't even really seen my house in three days, but it's been a lot of fun watching our college team and then the good NFL slate today.
Starting point is 00:01:13 I watched some of that volleyball. I was with my friend, Jason. We had a long conversation. I like to do this. This is what I think older people sometimes do. We have arguments about things that you could look up and just get the answer. So we were having a long argument about what was different about the libero.
Starting point is 00:01:30 You know, the person that wears the different shirt? What were the rules that differed? and we were very like adamant about each other's position. And I said, well, if only there was a machine that you could put in the question and you could get the answer. And then when we did, I think the only thing, it seems like the Libero can, they can't spike it. That's it. Right. They're considered the defender.
Starting point is 00:01:53 So they're basically, though, wearing a shirt saying they're a second class citizen, this scarlet letter thing they have going on in volleyball. I'm officially, I'm against it. I have to tell you. Yeah, they call them out. But they don't get any special privileges. They have a special hindrance, but they don't have any special privilege. They have to wear a different shirt that just says they can't be like everybody else. And a lot of times, you know, volleyball, you got to be very tall.
Starting point is 00:02:18 A lot of times it's the shortest person on the team. So it's almost like, how can we exclude you as much as possible? Well, why do they have to, explain to me. Why do they have to wear a different shirt? You got to acknowledge who they are on the court. I think they are able to go to different areas. There's something with the rotation. Where are they able to go?
Starting point is 00:02:32 Well, there's something they can do in the rotation that others can't. we looked up that they couldn't they didn't have to serve but now they have to serve too so i think we're just i want to say that unless someone can prove to me otherwise we are scarlet lettering the liberos and i am leading off the NFL cover zero podcast drew asking for that to end well uh i went to the match today and i haven't been in a long time and i have to admit within two minutes of being there i turned to my neighbor i don't know and was like now remind me what this So I What did they tell you?
Starting point is 00:03:06 They said that there was There was general confusion for my entire section. Because it used to be they didn't have to serve, which I get. But now that they have to serve, it just seems like to me
Starting point is 00:03:15 you're looking at a player and going, you are not as equal as the rest of us. And I am against that. They can set everybody else up. They're the pastor. I understand if they could do that
Starting point is 00:03:25 without that shirt on. But it makes them feel better about themselves. I think it should make them feel worse. They have less ability. All right. Let's go to the games, a lot of weather, a lot of rain out there today. There was a lot of conditions that to me
Starting point is 00:03:40 looked miserable. My view about when it's raining during a game is there's not a lot of joy in sitting in a penetrating cold rain, but a lot of fans did that today, especially in the north. Now, we're going to do a couple games in Florida where I guess it wasn't as cold, but how do you feel about sitting in the rain and watching games? Well, I recently, fixed my own fireplace. I saved myself a few hundred bucks. So I enjoyed being in the comfort of my home this morning, watching people be miserable, starting at 9.30 a.m. through that game and then on to the ones that got sloppy in the afternoon.
Starting point is 00:04:17 I enjoy my usual couch time and watching everyone else sit through it. Where did you learn to fix a fireplace? I've known you a long time. The internet. So you can find anything on the internet. I saw what it was the cost for this man to come to my house. And I said, you know what? I got YouTube.
Starting point is 00:04:32 I learned how to fix the thermocool. I didn't even know what a thermo-no-counter, thermo-something. Doesn't matter. It doesn't matter because the internet knows. That's what you're saying about. You can just, we have this thing, we can type in what we need to know. And I repaired my own fireplace. What tools did that require?
Starting point is 00:04:48 It actually didn't take a whole lot. I used a, like a metal pad and brushed off my thermal counter cooler. That signals when the gas is coming out. So I cleaned that. And then I got a little and put in there and got some cobwebs out to make sure my gas was coming up. It sounds like you didn't fix anything. You just cleaned it.
Starting point is 00:05:06 Well, no, no. This therm-counter cooler thing, that I'm not even sure if that's the right name. It needed a lot of tinkering. They needed cleaning. Somewhat. It needed to move a little bit. Made a little TLC.
Starting point is 00:05:17 I mean, you're messing with gas. If you mess up, I have a house full of gas. So this was a big project I took on by myself. All right. And so far, I think my house is still there. You seem proud of it. So you sort of agree with the,
Starting point is 00:05:29 I mean, not to call you a Marxist, but you agree with the Karl Marxist, that human beings need to produce things with their hands to feel good about themselves. You feel like you've fixed your thermocooler and now you feel better about yourself. Right. Save myself three or 400 bucks. And the whole point of this was because even in Lexington, we got a little weather today. It felt good to just be on the couch and watch football and be lazy and watch everyone else suffer.
Starting point is 00:05:54 I've never fixed anything of any sort. Not even a meal. Not a lot. I've fixed some. So I don't ever feel that joy of like making something with my hands. So this one in particular, because I literally made fire, I felt kind of cavemanish. Like I cheered when the flame came on. It was pretty neat.
Starting point is 00:06:15 I'm glad. That's kind of how the Patriots fell today. They had some fire. When they beat Tampa Bay in Tampa, it was a cold November rain to quote guns and roses. And Drake May was, I think for Drake May scale. or Drake May haters or people like me who just generally were hoping for his downfall, today was a rough day because you could say, well, up until this point, the schedule hadn't been great, you know, you got kind of lucky against the bill, whatever.
Starting point is 00:06:49 There's no, you can't say anything today. He went, he was excellent. He had a little rough start, but after that, some passes that were just as good as you see in the league and they get the win and then Mike Vrable, he, you know, a huge victory. I mean, they've completely turned his team around. I still don't buy them for the Super Bowl, but just terms of being impressed,
Starting point is 00:07:10 this was the one that kind of, I'm now a May believer thanks to today. Yeah, adding to it, it was another road win. They're 5 and 0 on the road. I think it's seven straight wins overall, and they keep winning their road games. May had a couple throws today that, you know, I'm not going to say Pat's fan started seeing Tom,
Starting point is 00:07:27 but they weren't not seeing Tom, but they weren't not seeing Tom either. They're telling you. Let me tell you something. This is why I don't want to like him because they're acting like they have Tom Brady again. And I think they need to slow down for the Patriots fans watching this. He's nice. Stop with the Tom Brady stuff. But with that said, he's still excellent. I mean, he has been excellent. He has clearly jumped to the top of the class. And right now he's tied with another quarterback. We're going to talk about a little bit, Matthew Stafford for the MVP in the odds, or the, excuse me, the favorite in the odds for the odds for the. MVP. And one of his throws came right before the half. It was actually the catch digs made to save him was even better. But that fourth down, you know, my boy, Mike Rable, he likes to be a little bit of a riverboat gambler. Why do people say that, by the way, is the fray? I don't know. That has always been the phrase. You're a riverboat gambler. First of all, now gambling's just legal. Yeah, I do it right here. I actually am losing on right now on Sunday night. Why is it riverboat? Why was it ever riverboat? Like, you could always go to. You could always go
Starting point is 00:08:28 to Vegas. Why did that become a thing? He's a riverboat gambler. We've got a friend who gambles. I don't know that he's ever been on a riverboat, but we call him Riverboat Rob, just because he's a big gambler. Probably never even been on any boat, not even a pontoon. I love that people just use sayings. Okay, so Brable's a riverboat gambler. But yeah, end of the half.
Starting point is 00:08:45 He kind of rolled the dice a little bit, and almost backfired. And I love Vrabel gambling, but this one could have been real sloppy. He kind of just milked the clock on the go line so the bucks couldn't get the ball back. But then it came down to a fourth and goal, a few yards to go. Let's talk about what he did right there, because that was a, that was a gutsy thing
Starting point is 00:09:03 at the end of the game, right? They were, they were losing, weren't they? It was the end of the half. Into the half. And they were, they waited and essentially just gave up a down, just downed it on first down, then didn't get in on second and third, and then went for it. So, I mean, they essentially threw away a down. If they had kicked it on fourth down, you'd have gone, well, they knew they were going to get some points.
Starting point is 00:09:28 But that was one of the more gutsy calls I've seen a coach do to just give up a down to waste 30 seconds of clock. And they're down three. I mean, everyone in the world would have kicked a field goal and got to the locker room tied on the road and been happy. But he didn't want them to get the ball back. That's true. I just mean, even not getting the ball back, just going for it on fourth down, down three in the red zone. I mean, just take your points. You're playing on the road.
Starting point is 00:09:51 Just go tied at halftime. but no, he went for it and that's the May throw, kind of split the coverage and then Diggs with a toe-tapping catch. That was a great throw. That was a great catch. That was just excellent. But that is one of the more gutsy sequences. And if you kind of wonder why Mike Vrable is Riverboat Mike,
Starting point is 00:10:11 that would be the reason. He went forward on a fourth of 15 with his back against his own goal line earlier this season. He would do this stuff for the takes. What are we doing? And then when it works, you're like, oh, Riverboat Mike over here. Yeah, Trayvion Henderson, who, if you play fantasy, which I sort of stopped doing, but I contemplated doing. Well, actually, I got kicked out of my league. And so.
Starting point is 00:10:34 For bad behavior? Well, you didn't set your lineup? I think I just kicked out because people wanted someone new. It was a great. It was just over-use personality. Well, it was just a group of people I didn't really know very well. I had one friend in the league. Okay.
Starting point is 00:10:49 You do need it to be like a group of your boys. These are not my boy. I only knew one person. So they were probably meeting without you going good beers. I think there was a league group chat that I wasn't in. But this year I just didn't get the invite. But I was preparing for the draft and everybody was like, you got to get Trayvion on Henderson, get Trayvion on Henderson.
Starting point is 00:11:08 And he's been sort of non-existent. But then today, 150 yards, two touchdowns, you kind of saw what the hype was about earlier this year. And the two touchdowns were long runs, one of them 70-yarders. So, you know, Pat's fans are already excited to have a young top. Brady at quarterback. And then with those two big runs that he had today, seeing a rookie, getting a little excited to put that with him too.
Starting point is 00:11:28 Mike Braybill after the game stood outside the locker room. And as the Pats ran in, he went, NFC South, NFC Champs, NFC, South, which I sort of listened to and thought, is he saying they just won the NFC South? Mike, you don't get to take the trophy from him. I think that's what he thought. I think he thought it was like imperialism. You get to take what is theirs. But apparently he said later, he meant you just beat the NFL.
Starting point is 00:11:51 NFC South champs, which I guess on the one hand is impressive, but the NFC South has been kind of universally considered the worst division for a decade. That would be like going, and you know, you're New England Patriots. So it would be like Alabama coming and going, Conference USA, Conference USA, like I didn't think that was, I thought that was weird trash talk. I saw some Bucks fans took offense to it. Were you mad, Billy, that he was yelling AFC South, or NFC, South champs? No, not at all.
Starting point is 00:12:19 Actually, a tip of a cap to like very. I mean, he's showed why he's a great coach today and all the stuff that he did. I was more interested in what... I'm glad you got that. It feels like you felt like you wanted to make sure you said something nice. I know, he's a great coach. I don't know how Drew does it and watches that. You should name your Peloton after him.
Starting point is 00:12:34 I needed to talk about what Baker said post game. He said he was fired about his teammates. He said that they needed to have the fear of failure in them and they needed to be worried about letting down their teammates. Baker said that? Baker said that today. That's odd. He doesn't really strike me as a throw his team.
Starting point is 00:12:51 teammates under the bus guy. He's fired up. I guess they were doing the little things wrong today. Well, did he play well? It was okay. I mean, there's a lot of injuries right now for Tampa. Okay, so he's saying people should get injured less? No, no. I think it's just attention to detail. Okay. Messing things up that they're working on.
Starting point is 00:13:08 I thought you would be upset that there were a lot of Patriot fans in the crack. That hurt. Dave Portnoy being on my TV at five, six times. So how did Dave Portnoy and Kraft become? First of all, I wonder what Dave Portnoy and Kraft talk about. But what I really wonder is what Dave Portnoy's girlfriend and Kraft's wife's talking about. I just would like to see their conversation because just looking at it didn't seem like they had a lot in common. No, maybe they found some middle ground.
Starting point is 00:13:35 I guess Bob Kraft and Dave Portnoyneur are just slobbering over Drake May like everyone else. And they should. They should be very happy. But it was now do you have, where do you put them in the AFC? Liam, they have a good shot at getting home field advantage. Do you think they could, you think they could win the AFC? I think, I mean, they're 8 and 2, and it's not, their wins are the power, power of the NFL. This is the last hard game they have, really.
Starting point is 00:14:01 They play the bills at home and that's really it. I mentioned they're going on the road in these games. It's what's so impressive to me. Sure, some of the opponents haven't been the toughest in the league. But to be 5 and 0 on the road, I believe they started 1 and 2 to the season and turn it on to win the last seven games. I think you have to respect them. And that's why Vrable was yelling NFC South to even get his team to competition. confidence. We even said they don't feel like a Super Bowl contender, but he's trying to let
Starting point is 00:14:22 him know, you just beat a legit playoff team on their own field, and he's trying to get that through their head, too. This is the rest of their schedule. Jets, bingles, Giants, Bills, Ravens, Jets, dolphins. That is really bad. Does the road go through New England? Without question. I mean, they play the Jets twice. Well, the Jets are coming in on two-game win streak. So, congrats to Patriots. That was kind of, that was the game of the day. It's not sponsored. So I'm just going to give a sponsor an indication of what they could get if they did this. Okay. Let's hear it. It is the Cherry, Dr. Pepper Zero game of the day. Ooh, that's big. I just got that. You know, I'm a Pib Zero guy. Right.
Starting point is 00:15:06 I just had the Dr. Pepper Cherry Zero. I'm a fan, just for the record. Sounds better than this 12-hour old Coke I have that doesn't even have ice anymore. I'm really struggling to this. They don't recommend you let Coke sit for 12 hours in the open. But you know what? I hope it works. This is from lunch, and we're recording at midnight. Wow.
Starting point is 00:15:27 All right, let's go through some other ones. Colts and the Falcons. That started early this morning in Berlin. You know, Berlin's the nightclub capital, as we talked about. So a lot of people came straight from the nightclubs. and they saw Jonathan Taylor had one of the best runs I've seen in a long time. That run where it looked like he got stopped at the line of scrimmage and then he went outside and went all the way down the field.
Starting point is 00:16:02 To me, that's the run of the year. I don't think Jonathan Taylor is going to win the MVP, but if they were going to have a Hizman celebration and they show the highlight reel, to me that would be his highlight of the year. He was excellent. And the Colts went on the road. It looked a lot of games to steal it. But for the Colts who continue to be, are they the story here?
Starting point is 00:16:20 As most of I hate the Colts, I enjoy watching this game. That run was impressive. I actually thought Germany is their first game. And Jonathan does that. They're going to think that's normal. What he did absolutely was not. He bounced out of the pile. He stayed inbound.
Starting point is 00:16:32 Most people could have for that long. Another three touchdown day for him. Have you ever watched a football game with a European, by the way? No, I don't think so. I mean, they have great questions. It's like when I watched with my mom, they can't. They have the exact question. That's the big thing is, why do they stop?
Starting point is 00:16:47 And with Jonathan Taylor, they didn't stop. He just kept going on that play. They got to love him. Yeah, they do. Daniel Jones bled from the mouth. It kind of became an iconic look. Nobody seemed to tell him. No, and it looked like lipstick.
Starting point is 00:17:03 Like, if you just turned on the game, it was like perfectly on his lips, wasn't on the rest of his face, just right on his lips. So it looked like he was wearing lipstick. My wife was turned on, she was walking around. She's like, wait a minute,
Starting point is 00:17:14 why is he allowed to be in the game just bleeding from the mouth like that? I was going to ask you this question. Because in basketball, got to spray it, get him out of here. don't let him touch anyone, but it looked like he was coughing it up there for a moment. Like, now I don't throw the football. It seems like it's almost encouraged.
Starting point is 00:17:27 Bleed more, son. It's going to be all right. Was it Matt Jones last week? Just bloody face? I think that's, I think it's just assumed. You know what? We want our quarterback's bloody. And that's going to be part of how it went.
Starting point is 00:17:40 Because you're right. He was bleeding. Even the announcers were like, are one of his teammates going to tell him, hey, man, you got a little blood. No, just let it rock. If I were him, I'd rock a mouth guard, though, because I, you know, I'm not a doctor, but he got pushed into the sideline and hit his head. It looked like he might have bit his tongue or his lip, but that thing was not stopping, and they zoom in on him right there in the huddle and kind of just wonder, like, can we just take him out for a few minutes, let him get that figured out, or is he going to bleed everywhere? I loved a game went to overtime, which means if the Europeans were not confused enough by the game, they had to learn the new overtime rules. Now listen, both teams will get the ball.
Starting point is 00:18:17 If this one gets a field goal But then they'll get a field goal But then they'll get to go back But then remember the time still matters And they go back and forth Everyone gets a chance Like they had to learn all that They're probably excited
Starting point is 00:18:28 There could be a tie though And they like ties They love ties It didn't happen but there was an option They do love ties The referee Had some problems with the coin flip I guess the
Starting point is 00:18:41 I guess what I understand The away team calls the The coin flip But because they were both in Berlin I think he knew neither team was German. And so he couldn't immediately figure out which team was away. He got the wrong one. So they flipped.
Starting point is 00:18:55 And then they had to reflip. Do you think they should have reflipped? Do you think calling it is so important that you reflipped? I don't think you reflipped. Also, I wondered, was it, did they use a German coin? What do they have? Is that a euro? Yeah, well, they use Euro.
Starting point is 00:19:11 Maybe we were just thrown off by a... What did it used to be? Deutsche Mark. But now it's a Euro. So they didn't flip the German. the Deutsche Mark. No. Another tough look as we're debuting for Germany,
Starting point is 00:19:20 but I don't think they should reflip. It happened. Move on. Well, it did. You did get a different result, but it didn't change the game. I did like, though, he was trying to explain what was happening,
Starting point is 00:19:31 and he seemed a little confused. If you go watch the video, he's like, I flipped, but it was in, I thought we were in Vietnam, but we are in Germany and the home, like he did all this. And it reminded me,
Starting point is 00:19:42 did you see the end of the Cal Louisville game Saturday? No, I did not. I was watching our beloved cats. If Billy was a good editor, I would have him insert the sound here. But they go to overtime and Cal or Louisville goes first, they kick a field goal. Then it's Cal's turn and they score a touchdown. So the game's over. But for some reason, the official just gets on the microphone and Cal is celebrating,
Starting point is 00:20:08 running around the field and goes, the game is not over. Excuse me. Game is not over. Stop celebrating. The game is not over. And then there's a pause and he goes, the game is over. He needed him on it. He wasn't ready.
Starting point is 00:20:25 Give him time, Matt. He wasn't ready to call it. Do you think he was so happy with the experience of this Cal Louisville game? He just didn't want it to end yet. Or maybe he just wanted to really make sure that they had scored. Kind of like in horse racing, there's an awkward few before it goes final. You can't cash your ticket. He was waiting for the final results.
Starting point is 00:20:43 If he wants the final play, it was fairly clearly. It was not close. Maybe he's just not processing as quickly as everyone else. He needed a minute to get that through and call the game. I just thought he was having a great time. He was like, I don't want this party to end yet. We're never going to be in this
Starting point is 00:21:00 moment together ever again. Let's walk down here. Louisville, you get to go again. So the Bears, my Bears, came back. They were down in the fourth quarter, down two scores with just eight minutes to go. And Caleb Williams let a comeback. That's a game. I've watched the Bears movies for about 10 straight years,
Starting point is 00:21:18 and instead they won it, scored twice down the stretch, great try by Caleb to finish the game. They get the comeback and they win 20 for 20. The Giants, unfortunately, Jackson Darkburn games comes out. Russell Wilson. Well, he was good at one time.
Starting point is 00:21:32 He is now graduating. Can you ever think of a quarterback in the history of the NFL who has fallen marks? Because that's not the Super Bowl. So try to think of anyone. Those fall has been more precipitate. from being an MVP candidate for a Super Bowl winning team to on one of the worst teams in the league benched.
Starting point is 00:21:52 And then when he comes in, the other team thinks, no, now we have a shot. Yeah, bench for a rookie that people weren't even sure about when the pick was in. Yes. Fan base was divided. No, especially not without other circumstances. It's not like there was an injury or something else. No, he just went to a different team, wasn't good, went to another team, seemed to be worse. To a different team was bad and then got significantly worse.
Starting point is 00:22:14 And also, I saw, who was it, Scott Van Pelt tweeted out, Mr. Limited. Oh, geez, Scott. Ouch. I thought that was one of the meaner things I've seen Scott Van Pelt. Hey, Scott Van Pelt's a really nice guy. He just, I mean, people's, it's like people feel okay being so mean to Russell Wilson. Everybody gets their jokes off about how he's corny, but he doesn't like seem like a bad person. Like, he almost seems like too nice.
Starting point is 00:22:42 Well, but I guess people feel. think it's bad that he had his own office. Yeah, well, there's a little bit of maybe you think you're above people that you hear a little about. People seem to genuinely really dislike him. And on the, you know, getting the jokes off, it kind of seems like anyone that watches the NFL even casually knows what Russell Wilson's going through. We know that's a former Super Bowl champion that is now not doing well.
Starting point is 00:23:04 And they're piling on a little bit, it seems. I wouldn't expect that of SVP, but a nice joke. Mr. Limited. The Giants, Billy gave me the stat earlier, were O and 4, this year when they've led by 10 points or more on the road. They've given up a double-digit lead on the road four times so far this year in nine games. Well, you know, the one today, then the one comes to mind in Denver earlier last month with the huge collapse. They've got to learn how to finish games.
Starting point is 00:23:33 I don't think it's going to matter, though, because they – Dayball could be fired tomorrow. Yeah, I was going to say, I don't think it'll matter because they'll be making changes. You think they will? You think they go. I think so. It's a shame. Scataboo and Dard gave them a little swag for a few weeks.
Starting point is 00:23:43 They had some fun. but I think they need to move on. If you're a Giants fan and you were looking forward to, hey, next week, I get Russell Wilson in a game. Would you want to buy those tickets? No, and I think there's, it's real tough from here. Let me read you. They're two and eight.
Starting point is 00:23:59 They actually haven't had their buy week yet. So let's see. They have left. All right. They next week, or no, they have a buy next day. But it gets nasty after that. Then they go Packers, Lions, Patriots, commanders, Vikings, Raiders, Cowboys. Wouldn't belong the back end.
Starting point is 00:24:14 But that stretch of Packers, Lions, Patriots, enjoy your O and 3. Yeah, but good luck with that. It was snowed a little bit in this game, which, though, was not the best performance in a supporting role by snow today. Did you see the Canadian soccer game? No, tell me, but I love a obscure sports story. I put on the YouTube TV. I have like seven channels now because they took all the ESPNs off. And FS2 popped up.
Starting point is 00:24:41 And it said Canadian Premier League Championship live. I was like, oh, it's live. Just take a second real quick to on your little Twitter machine. Google the scene at the Canadian. They were having a blizzard during the game. Oh, yeah. Can't even see field. Actually, a picture of the goalie is holding a snow shovel.
Starting point is 00:25:07 I'm like, that's the header on this website. On the field with his gloves on. Well, one of the goalies shoveled the area in front of me. And the other one didn't, which I thought was an interesting strategy. I think one of them thought, I need a clear area. The other one thought, let's muck it up with snow. I don't know which strategy was best. It was lot, and it was riveting.
Starting point is 00:25:27 I think it was auto versus Calgary. But it was riveting because it was so snowy. And there's a play that I think went viral. A guy did a bicycle kick in the snow, which may be the most transformational. athletic achievement I've ever seen. I'm watching a clip right now. The snow coming down to broadcast, you kind of have to squint just to see them on the field. It was great.
Starting point is 00:25:52 And you would think, okay, that looks miserable. First of all, all of them still wearing shorts. Nobody thought, why don't I go with pants? They all still went with shorts. They got tough it out. Ice was growing on people's hair. Uh-huh. See that's right now.
Starting point is 00:26:05 It was awesome. And I don't know. Sometimes FS2, I think they only show horse racing from, New York and like French soccer games. But they have to replay this game and you just need to watch it. It's no offense to the NFL. It was the most entertaining event on television today. I'm enjoying the clips I'm seeing.
Starting point is 00:26:24 The goalie is now shoveling out his path. Also, I noticed earlier, I think right before the bicycle kick, you know, soccer players are so fast running around. They can barely run in this. They're like high stepping just to get through the snow. Well, you guys would kick the ball really hard and it would go 10 feet. and it would just stop on the ground. It was great.
Starting point is 00:26:42 Also, there was a good moment. I've never understood this. When they had a penalty kick. They fight with the other team about one ball posts. I got to place it one foot ahead of where it should be. And then the defender will come and move it back. And on this one, the player pulled one of the great all-time moves. The referee looked at him and gave him a, you keep the ball right there.
Starting point is 00:27:02 And he went and pointed in the crowd. The ref turned around and he moved it up and up. It's quite hard to tell him to snow. whited down. So anyway, it was good entertainment. Bears won. Jets beat the Browns 2720. The Jets had, for the first time in 37 years, a team got a kickoff touchdown.
Starting point is 00:27:37 Excuse me, a kickoff return touchdown. And the next time they got the ball, a punt return touchdown. First time that's happened in 37 years. Yeah, early in the game, I didn't think the Jets would win another one this season after they had their magical moment in Cincinnati. But when you start the game with two touchdowns, like that, I'd say you're in good hands and they were to finish the job. Got those 14 points in the first quarter. I'm an Aaron Glenn fan.
Starting point is 00:27:59 I'm not saying as a coach, because I'm not sure he's a very good coach. But he still looks like he could play. Oh, yeah. He wears clothes like people play. Like he's kind of got the mid-40s. I still work out and you need to know about it energy. It's a little bit of unk in there too with the gray beard. But it's like uncle that wants you to know, if you step out of line, I can still smack that
Starting point is 00:28:22 face. Like if you run towards their sideline, he might hit you with a shoulder that you're going to feel, unlike other coaches. I'm waiting for him to do a headbut on somebody with a helmet. I think it very well may come. So I'm going to say I'm an Aaron Glenn fan. And I was pretty happy for the Jets. They made those big trades. We talk about how they're preparing for the future
Starting point is 00:28:40 and just going to tank. I just got the win right after that happened. But then I know we already addressed the Colts game, but Sauce Gardner did not look good in that game. He got torched in the end zone. And then Quinn and Williams did nothing today for the Cowboys. They're on a pie. So the Jets so far... To be fair to Sous Gardner, he gets traded Wednesday and then has to go to Berlin.
Starting point is 00:29:00 I don't think he thought that. Literally on Wednesday, he's like, hey, I'm in New York, I'm chilling. And then all of a sudden they're like, we're going to need you to update. You got to get to Berlin. I would have given him a break, but his knees buckled on one play. He got folded, and then the Jets go and get their wins. So I'm happy the Jets got the
Starting point is 00:29:16 W after their fire sale at the deadline. The Browns had one of the more Cleveland Browns, like moments that you could have. I mean, it was fourth and nine. They stop them, but then there's a penalty for off sides. So they do it again. It's fourth and four,
Starting point is 00:29:34 and they get a neutral zone infraction. The Browns would have had a chance to tie the game. That may be one of the more Brown's way to lose. Beat themselves up. You know, we know how bad they are, but Dylan Gabriel actually gave you a decent game turnover free and you can't beat the jets.
Starting point is 00:29:50 Yeah, he's fine. You know, I don't know if anybody's going to be. buying his jersey this offseason getting excited, but this is a game they could have won and should have won. This was the game that I thought people looked the most miserable because it was pouring in New York. And they voluntarily went to a Brown's Jets game in the first place.
Starting point is 00:30:06 So they went out to, if anybody's ever been to the Meadowlands, you got to want to get there. Like there's no easy way. You don't just go. Uber. Yeah, you want to get, I mean, you can get an Uber, but you're going to still be taking a second mortgage to pay for it. It's far away.
Starting point is 00:30:21 The train is. crowded and then to go and just sit in the rain and watch the Browns and Jets. Those are pretty hearty fans, aren't they? Yeah, and I'm just wondering who would it be. Jets fans didn't really have a lot too excited about. Did Cleveland fans travel? They're trying to get into the metal lens for that one. So it's almost like what kind of...
Starting point is 00:30:41 It looked to me like, though, it was a pretty big crowd. First game I've ever watched the Jets where they didn't show that guy in the helmet. You think he wasn't there? Hope he's all right. They show him usually coin toss straight to him. quarterback run on the field. Fireman head. Fireman head.
Starting point is 00:30:55 The first time I've never seen him at the gate. I hope he's okay. Yeah. Even he was like Chutz Brown's enough. I'm going to take this one off. I'm not going to do it. The Texans with one of the great comebacks in a long time against the Jaguars. Jaguars were up 29 to 10 to start the fourth quarter and they will lose 3629.
Starting point is 00:31:20 Davis Mills. I mean, go-go-gadget Davis Mills was excellent. If you had only seen the fourth quarter today, you would think Davis Mills is the best quarterback in football. He was unbelievable. C.J. Stroud, should you worry about his job when he gets back? Was it that good? I mean, no, but if you promised me fourth quarter Davis Mills, I'm taking him over Joe Montana. He was unbelievable.
Starting point is 00:31:46 26.4th quarter is wild for anyone. I have a confession with this game. I was pretty dialed in. And when the fourth quarter started, I kind of thought, you know, I had Red Zone on, but then I locked into other games. Did not even know anything about the comeback. I got a text from a friend that says, holy bleep Jaguars. And I'm thinking, there's no way they blew that game and flipped over and had seen it happen. I couldn't believe they lost that.
Starting point is 00:32:09 And then, I don't know if you saw Liam Cohen after the game. Wasn't a big fan of how they collapsed and lost that one. Liam Cohen looked as angry as a dorky guy that went to Maine could pus. possibly look. You know what I mean? He did go to, he did go. He will look like he'd spent some time on the mean streets of Duval.
Starting point is 00:32:30 He was, he was upset, but he should be. I mean, you're up 29 to 10 having a chance to steal that game. And I think I heard, saw like the Texans have won so many games in a row in that rivalry. And you were finally able to break that streak and then collapse.
Starting point is 00:32:45 That is, and that's a loss that could keep them out of the playoffs. Oh, yeah. That is a potential, I mean, now they're top. with the Chiefs for the final spot, but they had a one-game lead on them until that. I know it was a road game, but when you're the Jags and you've been playing well, I guess they lost a couple before that one, but you think Davis Mills, Texans,
Starting point is 00:33:03 if we're going to do anything this season, this is a game we have to win. This is one we got. Respectfully, Davis Mills, this is one, I'm sure the Jags are kicking themselves over because that's one you got to win, even though it wasn't used. Is that what you call him respectfully Davis-Mills? I'm saying, respectfully to you, you shouldn't be winning football games in the NFL. Yeah. I call him respectfully, Davis.
Starting point is 00:33:23 I feel like he's been around forever, too. I feel like he was a meme forever ago. Can you tell me where he went to college? No, I was thinking about this when you mentioned he was better than Joe Montana. Anybody know? I don't have it. Don't have it. I'm going to say somewhere in California.
Starting point is 00:33:39 Make sure I'm right about this. Good guess. I believe he went to Stanford. Did Davis Mills go to Stanford? Yep. Yeah. It felt like in California, yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:33:47 He was part of that Stanford. legacy from John Elway to Andrew Luck. Why'd you look at me like? I was going to see who you're going to say next. To Andrew Luck to Davis Mills. It's quite the lineage, yes. All right, how many schools have three better? What's the best?
Starting point is 00:34:08 What are you laughing at? Better than Davis Mills. Well, those first two are really good. Davis Mills is really benefiting from that stat. Just being in their company. I will grant you that Davis Mills, his face is, he's drafting. What college, this is a good question. What college has produced the best quarterbacks, the lineage?
Starting point is 00:34:31 What do you got? It's not Alabama. They actually have a surprise to a poor lineage. There's a disappointing. What's, what's Notre Dame? I was going to say, Notre Dame. Joe Montana and who else? Brady Quinn.
Starting point is 00:34:44 Brady Quinn. Stop, Brady Quinn. Who's the handsome guy with the beer? On Palace. Oh. He's not doing anything, though. Wait a minute. Where did Ken Stabler went to Alabama?
Starting point is 00:34:57 Sounds right. There's got to be one. Until somebody tells me another one, I'm going with Stanford with John Elway, Andrew Luck, and Davis Mills. Is that better than Jimmy Cawson, Brady Quidditch, in Montana? Let's see.
Starting point is 00:35:12 Troy 8. There's got to be more Notre Dame. Why are we only thinking of reason? Brady went to Michigan. Who else went to Michigan? Drew Henson. there's not a lot of Michigan guys. Peyton Manning went to Tennessee,
Starting point is 00:35:24 but I can't think of another Tennessee guy that's really good. Mahomes, Texas Tech. So no. Let's just go through. We did Montana. Staubach went to like, what, pit? Or not Starbock. Excuse me.
Starting point is 00:35:40 Stavok went to the Navy. Bradshaw, I think, went to pit. No, Oklahoma's got Baker. Okay, but who else? Tyler. Sam Bradford Josh Hyple I mean those are all
Starting point is 00:35:54 None of those guys Is of the Until someone gives me otherwise I'm still going Stanford With Elway Luck and Davis Mills What about Louisville Well's got Lamar Bridgewater and Johnny Uninus
Starting point is 00:36:09 That's a good one Johnny Uninus Lamar and Teddy Bridgewater Alabama's got You know Louisville with those top two I mean that is a I don't know. I don't.
Starting point is 00:36:22 Is Davis Mills better than Taday Bridgewater? It's good. It really comes down to Davis Mills versus Teddy Bridgewater. I think you probably take Danny Bridgewater. It's going to be close. There's got to be a school that's better. Jaylon Hertz is from Oklahoma too or and Alabama. So Alabama, if you take their best, is Ken Stabler, Joe Namath.
Starting point is 00:36:47 Did Bart Starr go there? I think. I think. Okay, now that's, that might be the winner, even though, because Ken Stabler, Joe Namath and Bart Starr is a pretty good three. That's going to be tough to talk. And then Jalen Hertz. Bart was Alabama. Okay, so then I think I'm going to take Alabama.
Starting point is 00:37:02 Davis Mills will be a second. Does Purdue have a third with Breeze and Greasy? Didn't Bob Greasy go there? Yes, he did. It's pretty good. Do they have a third? I don't know a third. Len Dawson.
Starting point is 00:37:17 Now, that's a really good threesome. So it's Alabama, Purdue, and Stanford. I think we all agree. Wait, man, I got one. Hang on. Cal. Has Aaron Rogers, Jerry Goff. And that they have somebody else?
Starting point is 00:37:34 It's a good one. I can't think it. I don't have a third. I didn't expect to get off on this. I just want Davis Mills to get respect for how he played in the fourth quarter. I think this debate is different if we had it yesterday in Davis Mills 26.4th quarter today. If you're ever going to make the case, for Stanford right now is the moment to do it.
Starting point is 00:37:52 Today is the day. This is your best day to do it. It's the best day. Maybe in the history of mankind to make the make it. That was fun on the fly though. Got to get that brain moving. I'm sure there are ones we didn't. Yeah, we probably saw it. If we did, that's, you know, we did the best we could.
Starting point is 00:38:08 Just wanted to make a note here at the halfway point. Paul Tagliabu passed away. He was the NFL Commissioner between Pete Roselle and Roger Goodell. He's probably best known for he kind of negotiated the first big leaps in NFL TV contracts. He negotiated the first deal with Fox,
Starting point is 00:38:28 which was the one that really took NFL media rights to a new team. He added, he was part of adding the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Carolina Panthers to the league, which made it 32 teams. And kind of was a transition between two commissioners that were a long time. Everyone considers a gentleman. and also was the first one to push to have games in Europe as well. So he probably passed away on the day that they played a game in Berlin. So rest in peace to Paul Tagibu, I think they said he was 88 years old.
Starting point is 00:39:02 Yeah, that was the commissioner of my childhood when I was just falling in love with the NFL. And as you mentioned, with the Europe connection, that was big today with that first Berlin game and how they keep growing the international series. And he was a big part of getting that started back when he was in charge. Yeah. Dolphins bills. Craziest result of the day. I mean, shocking.
Starting point is 00:39:38 Not just the dolphins won. But the fact that they dominate them. I'm 16-0-0 in the first half. Josh Allen, you know, his MVP candidacy took a plummet. But it was an absolute beatdown. And, you know, today on my ESPN morning show, we always have a celebrity guest picker. And today we had Damon Heward, Brock Heward's brother, whose son, the fake punt for Stanford Friday night, which is why we had Damon Heward.
Starting point is 00:40:05 And he picked this game. We called that. Wow. We picked all the game. He said, I've been talking to people in the dolphins. They feel comfortable about winning today. And he picked it. So shout out to Damon Heward.
Starting point is 00:40:16 Were you surprised by this? I was shocked. I mean, well, one, I was shocked just that the dolphins could win. But the bills, zero points at halftime. That first half was just punt, punt, punt. They had a bad fumble on a drive when it looks like they were going to finally get some points. It's always the first time they haven't scored in the first half in over two years. So it's not just that the dolphins are walking away the winners. I couldn't believe the bills
Starting point is 00:40:39 could look that bad. I, yeah. I mean, the bills, watching Josh Allen, he threw a terrible interception in the end zone on a play. I think they were going. They had a shot to cut it from, you know, what was the final score? I think it was 16 to 6. And they had a shot to cut it to 16.13. He throws an interception. He had a bad fumble on the series after that. Really just unbelievable. I mean, especially the Dolphins had lost, what, seven straight or something? And then to win this game and win it in the dominating fashion,
Starting point is 00:41:12 this will be one of those results that may be the most surprising of the year. Yeah, I mean, how many times on the show are we wondering when the dolphins would have a coaching opening? Now I'd say after this. Well, they've already said he's going to finish the year. Maybe he just needed that vote of confidence. You had a big game from H.N. It's 174 yards, two TDs. I don't know if the dolphins have found life or anything,
Starting point is 00:41:32 but this says a lot about the bills, and this could really hurt playoff seating on down the road. This is a loss that they could not take. I mean, it's hard to win the division now if you're there. I mean, it's not impossible, but you're kind of at the mercy of the pads now if you want to win the division. So a really, really surprising result. Mike McDaniel was really wet.
Starting point is 00:41:54 I didn't see that. What? It rained. But just from the weather? I mean, I don't think it was like he was just like had taken a shower. It was just he was really wet during the game. He looked, I don't know if it's because of his hair. He doesn't wear a hat.
Starting point is 00:42:10 So because of that, he just looked extra wet to me. And he also was seem to be wearing a cotton t-shirt, which is not, you don't, I mean, you don't want to wear a cotton t-shirt in the rain. What is every time to wear? Well, I'm not, I mean, it's up to him. He just looked really wet to me, and I started thinking, I mean, are you okay? Dan Lannning wears cotton on purpose in the rain because he's in the fight as much as the players are. That's just stupid.
Starting point is 00:42:37 I like Dan Lannock, but sometimes coaches, they go too far. It's like that's exciting. That's dumb. I can see Mike Me, Daniel, saying that. I think he did it because he needed to change quickly after he had a DJ said he had to do it after the game. But just sitting here, seeing him, he looked like a sappy, wet, dogs that standing in the rain. But a happy one because they got the victory.
Starting point is 00:42:59 Huge win. Biggest result of the entire weekend and, you know, I don't want to get too far ahead. But does this have any implications otherwise? Biggest the result of the Survivor Pool League, that's for sure. Yeah, so I'm out. I had the Bills. So Billy now wins the Survivor Pool again. We found the one thing Billy's really good at, which is Survivor Pool.
Starting point is 00:43:19 You had the Seahawks, right? Seahawks. So you now win the Survivor League pool. We're going to let you keep going during the year, see how far you can. can go. Okay. Tough loss for you, Matt. I got to be honest.
Starting point is 00:43:30 Again, this is unbelievable. But you heard me. You heard me. You heard me. I didn't want to pick it. Yeah. Because I, you know, weird things happened in Miami.
Starting point is 00:43:38 Back when Brady was with the Patriots, they would be awesome. And then they would just randomly lose a game in Miami. And, you know, if I'd known he was going to wear a cotton t-shirt, I would have been even more. But, you know, you got to go down. It's why it's hard.
Starting point is 00:43:54 It is why it's hard. I think now I saw there's only like three or four percent of the people in the big one left because so many people got knocked out by the bill. Oh, yeah. That was a big point. There's a lot of big point spreads this week, but that was one of the biggest. Yeah. So what do I get for winning the Survivor pool? I would like to propose I get the Tate Ratledge jersey from the other thing that I won earlier as my award for winning.
Starting point is 00:44:19 But the point was you were supposed to get that. You were going to get him if you got us on the show, you got him on the show, which you didn't. No, I didn't. But so now you want me to actually go through with it and get it? I think what I did, I came through for the Tate Routledge. I think the Tate Routledge was a prize for something he pulled off. That was something else. That was forgetting Brown Spider on the show.
Starting point is 00:44:37 I'll get you the Tate Routledge jersey. Don't forget the South afternoon. Where's that wine? It's still on the way. Okay. Tariffs. Have you have, uh, does he play Tate Rallage? Yeah, he's on the lines.
Starting point is 00:44:51 Oh, yeah. He's one of their starters, I believe. Ovens of Lines. And is he doing well? Yeah. How do you know? I'm a fan. Remember the preview.
Starting point is 00:45:02 Okay. So you don't know how many pancakes he has? What was his PFF score today? Not sure. Not sure, but big win for the lines today. All right. Ravens Vikings started out up 14 or 13 nothing. Look like they were going to run away with the game and then collapsed.
Starting point is 00:45:19 Eight false starts at home, which... How do you do that? I don't know. That's not a record. That has to be up there. and the Ravens come back win 2719. Lamar, who had a slow first half, really picked it up in the second half. This is a game.
Starting point is 00:45:32 Ravens are now favored to win the AFC North after starting one in five. I thought this was a massive game for both teams. The Ravens, because I think they are now on pace, they play the Steelers twice. They can win the division. And then the Vikings, this is the kind of game that keeps you out of the playoffs. Yeah, tough loss from them. It's embarrassing to have the penalties and the six they did at home. one of the crazier things I saw from this was Lamar.
Starting point is 00:45:58 I had forgotten about his record against the NFC. He's now 25 and 3 against NFC teams. That is outrageous for someone play it outside. But you can see why because you can't practice against that. There's no way to replicate what he does in the week leading up to it. So if you haven't seen it, you know, I mean, the teams that play Lamar the best are the NFC North teams, even when they're not good because they've seen it a lot. if you haven't seen it, what are you going to do?
Starting point is 00:46:26 Oh, I completely get it, but 25 and 3 in the NFL is impressive. So that blew me away when they put that stat up. But they have turned it on. They had that, whether it was 4 out of 5 to start the year, we'd all thrown them away. Defense is still suspect, but with the healthy Lamar, they're always going to be in a record now. Are they 4 and 5? 4 and 5. Yeah, I mean, they're...
Starting point is 00:46:44 One three in a row. Same as Minnesota. You would not want to see them in the playoffs. You know their next three games? Give them to me. Browns, Jets, Bingles. don't let the Ravens get hot well I mean they're gonna get hot
Starting point is 00:46:59 I mean that's uh that'll probably be a six game win streak when's all sudden done we'll see about the bingles I think it's let's just go through their whole schedule you said browns jets bingles then you got the Steelers bingles again
Starting point is 00:47:10 Patriots that could be now a massive game Packers Steelers again so you're right they need to win these next three but if they could just take care of business in Brown's Jets bingles they'll be and you're now
Starting point is 00:47:24 one game back from the Steelers and they will play. Yeah. That's why they can get a little six-game winning street going. Stay healthy. Defense shore up a little bit. They're going to be right in the mix when we're here at the playoff time. Saints beat the Panthers 17 to 7. I have to admit, I wasn't locked in on this game. You told me that Tyler Shuck is the first Saints rookie quarterback to get a win since when?
Starting point is 00:47:50 1981. Wow. Impressive. I guess they don't have a lot of rookie quarterback. back starting. You know, we were big believers in Tyler Shock. We all knew this was going to happen. Well, I mean, I'll stack like he was great. He had 17. Hold on. But he used to his quarterback rating was insanely high, right? Yes, 128.9, 282 passing yards, two touchdowns. Looked pretty decent. That's pretty good. Where do you go to school?
Starting point is 00:48:13 Louisville. I can't have that out there. We can't have that on podcast. Me complimenting Louisville, but it's another one. In our little ranking, depending on how you view Davis Mills, It sounded like Louisville was like third. I don't want to give them that credit. I can't believe we're doing this on this podcast. On Alabama, Purdue. For the Panthers, RICO Dowdell did the no-gyrating of hips touchdown celebration. No pumps.
Starting point is 00:48:40 So he did zero pumps. They lost the game, but I do have to give him credit for that. I think it's kind of a gutsy thing to do. You got fine for the two pumps. He put the hands by on the head. like it was going to be another pump. He did the setup. And then he did not pump.
Starting point is 00:48:57 He pre-pumped and just didn't go through with it. Also in the Colts game, their mascot double-pumped after the Phil goal. He always does that. Yeah, but it was two. I kind of feel like that was intentional that he did a two-pump. I think he did a little check to see. How come they don't suspend? Why is the Colts mascot led?
Starting point is 00:49:15 He's always pumping. And I have to tell you, the Colts mascot, to me, that's a lot dirtier of a pumping. There's so much moving there. Or is his fine His flag And like Mascots are in general Like child
Starting point is 00:49:28 Like children Are for mascots I feel like There's a lot of pumping going on Should we Should we hold our mascots To the same standard We do the players
Starting point is 00:49:37 Blue and Rico Doudal I just think if Rico Doudal Has to get hit He should get to pump As much as a guy And a fur costume Is there a limit on pumps Obviously two
Starting point is 00:49:49 I think now he's got to do one And see see what happens. They lost disappointing result from the Panthers who had been good. They're now what, 5 and 5? Correct. But they had had a winning record. You got to think you're going to win this game. It was at home
Starting point is 00:50:04 today. You got to think you're going to win that. And then again, that's a disappointing result. I think if you're Miao Mix, you just plug in and you're like, look, we did as long as we could. They lost to the Sains. I think, you know, I was big on Meow Mix stay away. You're the reason they're winning. I think this is so
Starting point is 00:50:20 bad. The Miao Mix controversy I wonder if it's some karma for how they treated the Meow Mix people. Could be those former players. Jonathan Stewart may have some apologizing to do. Meow Mix was just trying to do something good and you all turn them wrong. That's karma. And of all the teams, the saint. I mean, you beat the Packers and then lose to the Saints.
Starting point is 00:50:44 Yeah, it's the way it goes. All right. The late games collectively made me one. the cry. They were all over quick. I mean, basically, 45 minutes into it, all the games were over. The Lions had taken control on the commanders. Seahawks were up like 28-0-0 early on the Cardinals, and then the Rams were up, what, 21-0 early on the 49ers? These games were over. So I think the big story of the afternoon was in Lions commanders, Donald Trump, you know, And I know everybody, okay, you know, stick to football.
Starting point is 00:51:23 But to be fair, this came into my world today. This was football. This was football. And then they brought it. All right, let me give you, in my opinion, the good and the bad of Trump part of a B-level game. First of all, the flyover. Is it just me or did they get a little close? I thought that was way too close.
Starting point is 00:51:44 I saw a picture before I saw the flyover. I genuinely thought it was photo. I've got to shopped with how close it was to what I have a same. Why was it so close? Normally, when you have a flyover, it's way up there. It looked like they could just hang from the bottom of the plane. But can you imagine if you were sitting at the top right there? Oh, that's way too close.
Starting point is 00:52:08 It's way too close, isn't it? Instead of parachuting in, they were just going to hand the ball off to the ref as they came through. Way too close. And he didn't come in until like the second quarter. I think because security and stuff, which I guess was probably a good thing for traffic, et cetera. But you agree. Too close.
Starting point is 00:52:28 Yeah, it also just seemed unnecessary. It could have been just a car ride. But whatever. I mean, where are we coming from? Why did he fly there? Where are we coming from? Was he coming from D.C.? Could have been an Uber.
Starting point is 00:52:42 I mean. You think he flew. Come on. He had to have been somewhere else. He couldn't have flow from D.C. to land over Maryland. I don't know. Why wouldn't he? It's where he lives.
Starting point is 00:52:53 They don't have an airport that can land that thing right next to the stadium, do they? I think they took off. It's a little message like, hey, we'll be there in a minute. Look at our plane. Traffic was bad. All right. So a little close. Secondly, he did the, what was it when he was speaking in the microphone, was he like, what was he doing?
Starting point is 00:53:13 Was he doing this? Was he swearing in Marines or something? I didn't see that. I saw the Kenny Albert interview. But did he do something with Marines? So he spoke to the crowd. But he was reading something. And I assume it was like somebody was maybe swearing in to be a Marine or to be something.
Starting point is 00:53:27 And it said, he said, I state your name. And he read, state your name. Which I don't know what he was doing. Do you know what he was doing? I don't. Well, he got booed a lot. The point is he got booed a lot. Which, you know, would you booed?
Starting point is 00:53:49 Let's just forget about him. Would you boo someone in that scenario that you didn't lie? It depends. I probably wouldn't boo like a political figure. Who would you boo? Someone related to the team we're playing. Okay. If it's like a celebrity fan or something like Taylor Swift.
Starting point is 00:54:11 Yeah. Why would you boo Taylor Swift? What did she do? I mean, if she was playing my team, if the chiefs were playing my team and they showed Taylor Swift. You would boo her. Oh, yeah. I were just supporting her boyfriend.
Starting point is 00:54:22 Yes. That's the enemy. For 60 minutes, she's the enemy. I'm booing anyone connected to the other team. I'm not just everyone, but if I feel like it, if they're like, we're in the jersey of the game, we're currently watching. If he watched the video of him getting booed,
Starting point is 00:54:35 they had people that were like not that far from him. Because, you know, he's in like a suite, and he's looking down, and there are people that are, it doesn't feel like they're very far. and they're just looking directly at him booing. And then other people are trying to clap. And then there are people booing the people clapping.
Starting point is 00:54:56 They're just trying to outdo each other. Yeah. And it felt like it was a very intense scene there. And then I thought about the broadcast crew who's doing the game. It was Jonathan Vilma. Okay. Now, I want to get to that. But are you guys about the interview?
Starting point is 00:55:08 Yeah, his six, seven. Okay. So just a second about the interview. Now, it's interesting that Kenny Albert and Jonathan Wilbur, are the guy doing the interview. First of all, they're like Fox's D team, right? Yeah. I mean, they're at least number three.
Starting point is 00:55:24 I think they're like the fourth or fifth team, aren't they? Because it's like, it's Brady's team, Greg Olson's team. Mm-hmm. Does Darrell Johnston still do it? Well, there's, I don't know. I think I'm going to say I'm used to hearing Kenny Albert call like Seahawks Cardinals. So I'm going to say he's not one of the big teams. Apparently they just found out last night they were interviewed.
Starting point is 00:55:54 Now, what you think about that from it? All of a sudden, you get a call last night. Hey, Jonathan, Kenny, get ready to interview the president in front of 25 million people. Don't screw up. There could be booing, by the way, while you're doing it. Could be distracted. That would be nerve-wracking to me, wouldn't you? Because they're not political guys.
Starting point is 00:56:13 It's not like, you know, that would be a tough. interview. That's why I kind of thought of it was, it kind of felt weird. Like Jonathan Vilman did like a 6-7 joke. Then they... He did two. Yeah, then they showed Trump's old football pictures. I'll give Trump credit. They showed when he played football and they asked him how many touchdowns he scored and I thought, oh God, here we go, he's going to say 50 years. He was like zero. I thought there was a moment of... Yeah. That was maybe the most humble he's ever been. I was waiting on average five a game or something. He's like, no, didn't score. Why did Jonathan Vilma try
Starting point is 00:56:46 two, six, seven jokes? To break the ice of, because Trump doesn't know what that means. I don't know what it means. Well, you mentioned he's probably does not feel ready for that interview. So like, I got to fund this up and break the ice a little bit. Can I do my impression now
Starting point is 00:57:04 of Trump calling the action because, you know, you had to call a few plays. You ready? Second down, it's a big play. It's huge play. Watch. So he's going to run the ball. So he ran the ball right there. It was a big play.
Starting point is 00:57:18 Big play. Check it down. He just did that. Every play was a big play. He just came going. He's a big play. They need this right here. Big play.
Starting point is 00:57:28 Did you see St. Brown point at him and hit his dance, though, from the end zone? No, I did not. He pointed up at where he was and hit the little. Multiple. Yeah. That score did the dance. Okay.
Starting point is 00:57:37 So the players were getting into it. Well, that's good, I guess. It was a 20-point game at the time that big play was happening. Donald Trump was saying. Play. Big play. I don't really know if I'm sounding like him. I think I'm sounding like Bob Dole.
Starting point is 00:57:50 You sounded like Howard Grissel when you started. And then you went into a little trunk. It's a big play, mate. Now that's a little odd. That's a little like Donald Trump. Anyway, it was interesting that it happened. I agree with you. It seemed odd.
Starting point is 00:58:07 A regular season Commanders Lines game. Just to have him there. And then put. And then of all people, I mean, what betting odds could I have gotten three months ago that Kenny Albert and Jonathan Vilma would be interviewing Donald Trump? What odds do you think I could have gotten on that? Oh, it's been crazy. Off the chart. What if Vilma just start pressing it on all the issues?
Starting point is 00:58:30 It's got real serious. Enough commanders lines. Let's talk about. Actually, that would have been one of the more. Yeah, he was just like, we need to talk about the shutdown. You have decided not to fund SNAP benefits. I'm going to need to know why. six seven
Starting point is 00:58:44 well whenever the president wasn't in this game it just seemed like everyone else was punching each other throughout the entire okay so what about that punch which one there were several well one player just knocks st. Brown
Starting point is 00:58:57 like yeah continuing the eye punch people in helmets I don't get it his head moved a little but it didn't look like it hurt too bad full swing though got one for it was a full swing Dan Campbell announced after the game he had just he just called the place
Starting point is 00:59:11 didn't tell anybody before the game He's like, I decided to call the plays this game. Surprised everyone with that one. We either got a punch a ref. Usually, that's pretty frowned upon. I wouldn't punch a ref. He pushed him. He didn't punch him.
Starting point is 00:59:23 Well, he wouldn't have done that either. There were also multiple fights in the crowd. I saw several commanders, lions fist fights. I don't know what they were serving in Maryland today. Big game. Everybody was turned up a little bit and fighting all over the place. I can understand. I mean, there was a lot going on.
Starting point is 00:59:41 You had the president. You had people. You had people dancing. You had a plane nearly hit the stadium that happened to be the presidents. But probably didn't even need to take off at all if he had stayed in his own goal. This is why Dan announced it. He saw everything around him. He's like,
Starting point is 00:59:56 now it's when I'm just going to let everyone know I've been calling the place. It was quite a, it took a game that was otherwise not really interesting and made it something. I'm just going to combine these two NFC West games. I don't care. I just need to say something to you all. When the NFC West plays each other, it's hard for me. Is it because you're worn out from Witching Hour?
Starting point is 01:00:18 I think it's part of it. Yeah, and it's so far away. It's all the other side of the country from where I am. And I'm convinced these teams play each other seven times a year. Like when the Cardinals played the Seahawks, I believe this is game five of their series this season. I know I have watched that game. at least three or four times. I was actually a little excited for 49ers, Rams.
Starting point is 01:00:47 It was just an absolute blowout. That might have been the Rams best win all year. They went up 210 quickly. Matthew Stafford still looks like he's having his best season. I was surprised by that. Is he your MVP? If it's between him and Drake May, I think they'll pick him because he's been around longer. Maybe.
Starting point is 01:01:03 I would still lean Drake May if they continue to win like they are, seven in a row, five on the road, as we said earlier. But Stafford, when at the start of the year, people question if he can't even play because his back issues, he's having an incredible year. Yeah. Seahawks won by a ton. Rams won by a ton. What was your Stafford stat? You gave me a stat earlier that you...
Starting point is 01:01:24 Yeah, first quarterback since the merger to have three straight games of four plus passing touchdowns and zero interceptions. Three straight games, four passing touchdown. Yeah, that's good. Since the merger. I like the stats of the merger. Same. Just saying since the merger. Personally, I just assume, you know, everybody remembers the merger.
Starting point is 01:01:43 I guess that was, what, 67? Yeah. Six, seven? Where's John? Wilma, where is he? My favorite stat from this game was J.S.N. had another big game. He has 1,000 receiving yards. He has as many receiving yards as the entire Tennessee Titans and two more touchdowns.
Starting point is 01:01:59 On season? Yeah, the receivers. The receivers, not like running backs, but the receivers. Wow. Now, that is a great stat. So we got that going for us. Which is nice. We have a lot of week though.
Starting point is 01:02:11 Sunday night football, we just finished a few minutes ago. Steelers beat or Steelers lose to the Chargers 25 to 10. This was the game where I felt like Aaron Rogers. We talked to karma. This is where the karma hit him. He looked awful. And he got angry. It was like bad Aaron showed up.
Starting point is 01:02:28 You know, sometimes I'll be doing a radio show. And my mom will text me in the show if she thinks I'm getting worked up. And you know what it says? It's just one word. she'll just say, breathe. She did that last night when Jerry called the football post game show. I got a text from my mom, breathe. Okay?
Starting point is 01:02:46 Very sweet. Aaron Rogers needed to breathe today. Needed a text. He started getting angry. He started yelling at people. He started making bad throws and then looking and going, what? What's wrong with you? And I felt like Aaron Rogers needed someone, if he had any friends, to look at him and say,
Starting point is 01:03:02 breathe. Because this was Aaron Rogers that is worse today. Yeah, now three out of four, he had some bad throws. Aaron Rogers does not miss wide open guys. It makes me wonder, you know, he's old and he had that great game, the Flacco game. Yes. Was that like my last step? Like I'm picturing an old man watching his kids play in the backyard and he goes out and he gives him one last run and he plays, but then his back hurts for the next month.
Starting point is 01:03:24 And that was his last go at it. I feel like that Flacco game was Rogers' last good moment and it's now the decline. He's feeling it. Well, and it's a road game, but they had more fans than the Chargers did there. I mean, that stadium was all Pittsburgh fans. It was a bad, it was a bad performance. They're still five and four. Still Mike Tomlin.
Starting point is 01:03:45 He always has a winning record. You know, the Chargers, Jim Harbaugh went nuts. It seems like he and Justin Herbert. It seems like they're really, they're really buddies. Like they just seem to really like have a connection. Do you think Jim's going to be hitting L.A. with him? Going out and getting some milk. with Justin Herber and Madison Beer, what they talk about either, if they hang out.
Starting point is 01:04:14 But do you think the Chargers are a contender? I still worry about their offensive line. It's a little better today, but it has been so bad in the past few weeks. I don't think they can reach their long any serious goals. I did like for a lot of the game, the score was five to three. Three to two there for a little bit, too. I like a good three to two games. I like a good random score.
Starting point is 01:04:37 They had a scoreagami today, by the way. What was that one? Seahawks Cardinals was 44-22. That had never happened. Really? That's surprising. That's one you would have felt like might have happened sometime. I think there's two then, because I think 3629 Texans Jags was Scorogami, too.
Starting point is 01:04:52 I may be wrong, but. You're making that up. Why do you think that? I think I saw the Scoragami Twitter account tweet that out. Okay. Well, that one, again, both those feel like they might have happened at some point. But at least 44-22 didn't. and then if you want to believe Billy, who may or may not have inserted that sound from the local cowagy-
Starting point is 01:05:10 was not a squaragami. They got Twitter notes on their scuragami tweet that it was a scuragami. It was incorrect. It was a fake scuragami. Oh, because they did say that Twitter account got hacked, right? The Twitter account is getting all of these wrong. It keeps saying that these are all scurigamis. The Jacksonville Houston one was a scuragami.
Starting point is 01:05:30 So you're saying yours was? And yours was not, yes. It's been a tough weekend for me. Well, 4422 seemed like to me a score that would have happened. Yeah. I agree. But 3629 seems like a score that would have happened. 4422 has happened two previous times before today.
Starting point is 01:05:47 So the Twitter account, so now we just can't trust Skorogami. I agree. Yeah, you can't trust it. You can't do your own research on that, Billy? Can't be trusted on these random accounts. He was listening to somebody on Rogan, who said, by the way, there have been 44-22 games before. Never a 36-29. It's the next-gen stats before the trial takes away my...
Starting point is 01:06:05 No, we trust next-gen stats. Still on the trial period. That's nice. You could probably run that up the ladder and get a login. You think it is helpful for the show. You can get a log-in. You just got to ask. They probably would like for us to have stats, actually.
Starting point is 01:06:18 Hey, you guys ever considered using some stats? By the way, next week, the week 11 wrap up will be, we will be in Buffalo. Yeah. Can't wait. So we are driving from Lexington to Buffalo. Like people do. Yep, going through Cleveland. Erie, Pennsylvania, a place I've never.
Starting point is 01:06:35 fathomed going through. Never any reason to be there. That was where Salman Rushdie, when he got stabbed in the eye, they did an emergency surgery and saved him in Erie, Pennsylvania. That's exactly what I thought about when you said it. I don't even know what you're talking about. You know what Salman Rushdie is? No, teach me about it.
Starting point is 01:06:55 He wrote that book where they had, they put a, like a jihad on his life. Maybe that's not the word on one. But we wrote the satanic verses. And then he, like, went hiding for like 20 years. And then he came back. It was like, I'm not going to go in hide anymore. I'm going to live a public life. He did for a while.
Starting point is 01:07:14 And then he got stabbed. There's a great book about it called Knife, which I highly recommend. Came out last year. It's not very long. Really, really good book about it. And they saved him in Erie, Pennsylvania at the Erie Hospital. So we're not going to go by and talk to him about it. These are things I can learn when we go to Erie in Cleveland.
Starting point is 01:07:31 What do you think what happened if we just show? I said we just wanted to pay our respects for how well you all handled that. And can we plug in and do a podcast trip? We're on a podcast trip. It will be fun doing, we'll have to find a good place to do the podcast. That'll be fun. So we're going to start doing our own research, Billy.
Starting point is 01:07:51 That's one of the things you have to do is figure out where we do these shows. Okay. We need to start working on that. But we will be in Buffalo next week. So looking forward if you have suggestions, it send us a message. And Drew, fun stuff. My name.
Starting point is 01:08:03 Yeah, another fun one. I'm glad I didn't have to watch my Titans today. So I'm smiling tonight after another fun show with you all. We will see you later.
