NFL Cover Zero with Matt Jones and Drew Franklin is a production of the NFL and IHeart
podcast.
It is the week five wrap up here on NFL cover zero, a little Monday afternoon.
Wrapping up some NFL games, Matt Jones, Drew Franklin, and Billy R. Sports.
Guys, we are in, we are based in Kentucky.
So we've been pretty like overwhelmed with Kentucky beating Lane Kippen.
But nevertheless, that doesn't mean there weren't NFL games. Yesterday was great. I was able to lay on my couch, just turn on NFL and Red Zone, kind of drift in and out of sleep. So if there are plays I missed, that's okay. But enjoy the action. A lot of, you know, the late afternoon, we got to stop only having three games. Because if there's only, if two of them are boring, then you end up, we need more games in the late afternoon. But otherwise a good day.
Yeah, usually the afternoon is when I'll be like, all right, I've been on this couch since 9 a.m.
I should stand up and maybe see if there's something to do.
But I will say yesterday, even though they're only three, I got pretty locked in to the Seahawks game.
That was a good one.
But otherwise, I was disappointed that I didn't have options.
It's just too much chargers, too much Cardinals.
That's the problem with that late.
Then there'll be a lot of Raiders.
We were lucky we got Seahawks 49ers.
That was a great game.
I just, I don't need to see any more of the chargers.
Don't get me started on that team.
Mike McDaniel looks weirder every single week.
And there was something about him wearing the brown and all that.
He looked like he was from a 70s, you know, drama.
And then I don't know what, I don't know what Jim Harbaugh was wearing.
That hat had a lot of colors.
Was it pride or something?
Why was he wearing?
Yeah, it's one of the themes, right?
I think it was pride.
Well, I don't know for sure.
If it wasn't pride, I don't know what he was wearing.
But I'm not starting with the charge game.
I can't do it.
I want to start with the Giants and the commanders.
All right.
Didn't have you going there.
That was fun.
Because it was awful.
Yeah, no one of those teams should be ashamed of themselves.
First of all, I hate ties.
I don't like them.
I don't understand why it's 10 minutes.
I've been on this train for a while.
Why isn't it 15?
We've got to buy them a little more time.
The problem is,
The team that gets it second is having to fight the clock.
Now, you know, now part of it was that at this point, both teams got the ball twice.
But just in general, I don't think I like the 10 minutes.
I understand you don't want to play forever, but they could at least do 50.
But also, it was a parade of horribles.
Nobody wanted it.
You know, you started with the Giants moved down and then what's his face misses?
the kick.
Right?
And then the commanders go three and out.
And then the Giants, all they have to do,
well, they didn't have to do anything.
They could have just kicked it.
Like, there was no reason for them to keep running the ball, right?
Or were they on like the 20-ish, 24-ish?
Yeah, I guess, I mean, how much closer they want to got to be?
I guess since he just missed one, maybe the other guard up a little bit,
but you definitely can't turn the ball over.
But he missed like a 48-yarder.
And I think they were set up for a 38 yard.
It feels like he would have made it.
Maybe not.
But, you know, then scataboo.
He took off all his gloves and his padding on his arms and hands.
And I thought that's when you needed it most when it was raining like that.
Oh, I didn't know that.
He took all of them off.
Yeah.
So it was just, you know, he had bare hands when he fumbled that ball.
What was his reasoning for taking them off?
I'm not sure.
You know, I feel like that glove technology really helps hold on to the long.
Well, what's the point of wearing it?
If you're not going to wear it during the pouring rain.
Exactly.
That seems like the one time you would wear it.
Yeah, well, he gave up the game, your boy.
And then he looks sad, which I understand.
And he was like wet.
So then you think, well, it can't get worse than that.
And then the commanders, like, everyone should be fired.
Everyone.
Like, everyone that lives in Washington should be fired.
Everyone on the hill.
Here's what I need to.
What were they trying to do?
I'm being dead serious
when they
snap that ball
but 15 seconds left
what was their goal
maybe a few more yards
center the ball
in the middle of the field
and did no one think
we don't have a time out
no one
that's egregious
it's one of it's maybe the worst
professional clock era
I've ever seen college team
yeah these aren't kids out there
in the first time doing that
I think it's the worst one
because the thing was like they were four seconds away from snapping it.
Like they weren't close.
It wasn't like he snapped it and they're like, oh, that's close.
Let's see if it was.
No, it wasn't close.
They don't even think he got,
I don't even think they got lined up yet.
And Dan Quinn shattered his headset.
He was so bad on the sideline.
But I mean, it was his fault.
It was.
But he was.
He didn't need to call a play.
That was a gift wrap win after you were given the fumble to have new life.
And all you got to do is not that.
Well, you could do anything.
I mean, I don't know.
Like, I'd rather them have just punted it.
Or miss a field goal by 50 yards.
You can at least say you tried.
You did nothing.
Or throw an incomplete pass.
Oh, yeah.
I'm just not sure what Jane Daniels, I'm not sure what Dan Quinn and Jane Daniels thought would be a good result.
Had they thrown a completed pass, that wouldn't have worked.
If he gets tackled, that doesn't work.
if he throws it to the sideline,
now you're not even centered.
They were centered.
What were they trying to do?
I don't know.
And there was 50,
55 seconds before they snapped that ball the first time
and then waddled around
until they snapped with about 12 seconds left.
And they also seemed like no one was in a hurry.
Did they think there's a second overtime?
Maybe that.
Is there a second half?
It just seemed like no one was even in a hurry.
Like if you watch it, the wide receivers were like,
who you know.
there's one guy on the commanders
acting like he knows what's going on.
And then the Giants player just stepped on the ball.
Did you see that?
And if you're the commanders, I mean, you're probably not a playoff team.
But a win like that, you need, if you want to believe in yourself,
now you're at the bottom of that division.
That's one right there.
Just kick the ball.
And the Giants were celebrating like they had won.
Never seen a team happier to be tied.
Well, they should have been because they, you know, scataboo.
Like he gets saved.
just a bizarre game.
And the NFC East is the new NFC South.
And like in terms of being just like it was an awful week for the NFC East.
The Cowboys.
Lost to the Bucks.
And just a pitiful performance.
And it was in prime time for everybody to see.
It was terrible to watch.
Terrible.
Well, thank you.
Jalen Daniels, though, got a win.
So happy to see.
He actually didn't look awful.
No.
He looked like there's a lot.
something there. I don't know if he's an NFL
quarterback, but he looked like he had a place
at least as a backup or something in the league.
Yeah, who had
James Winston's New York Giants
leading that division where Jalen Hurts,
Dak Prescott, Jaden Daniels, the other
quarterbacks. That was a great
James game, though. What was he? He was
like... He threw the ball 54 times.
He was like 36-554.
326 yards,
three touchdowns, zero
interceptions, but he did fumble.
And the thing that's funny about Jameson is,
too.
His misses are not even close.
But then he gets 36 completions.
But when he misses, he misses by like 30 feet.
I saw in the week leading up to the game.
He admitted that he lost his confidence.
And even when he came back to take over that first game,
he didn't feel like himself.
And then he said, I see that people are liking the James Winston experience.
And he got his confidence back.
I want to be like, that experience is almost more of a comedy we enjoy watching.
But whatever you want to tell yourself to get you cured up.
None of us were like, wow, James Winston's back.
Look out. It's more like I have to watch TV when James Winston's on it because anything can happen.
He's 10 yards down the field and he is pump fake. That was great.
But you know, people are laughing at him about that, but it got bit.
He did. He jumped. It actually worked.
He was past the first down marker when he pumped.
It kind of worked, though. I give him credit. I don't think that was that bad.
Yeah, I loved it in Tampa. It's ups and downs with him, no doubt.
So they get that tie where literally, honestly, they should do.
It's banned the House of Representatives.
That has nothing to do with the game.
That's just my general view.
Separate of the game.
Perience.

So then you go just to the Cowboys for a second.
Is it just the case if they don't have C.D. Lamb, then they stink?
Because he got hurt early in that game.
I mean, they should still be better than that.
I mean, CD, they could have left him at home and they should beat the Bucks, even though he's been so good.
Their defense is just awful.
And they were at home.
Yeah, that's obviously a good offense.
and they were supposed to fix that defense in the offseason
and it does not seem to be any better.
You watched the game, I'm sure, more intently than I did.
Yes. Bucky Irving seems to be the steal of that draft class.
They got him in like the third or fourth round.
He looked really good.
What year was that?
Three years ago.
I think I've had him on my fantasy team every year,
so I feel like he's been in the league for 12 years.
Has he not been in the league that long?
Three or four years is how he's been in the league.
He's good.
He looked really good, but this is much more about the Cowboys.
You know, they talked about the defensive coordinator, youngest in the league, taking over.
You can tell.
And Jerry's probably talking about him on his radio show right now.
Yeah, he's not been great.
But, I mean, to be fair, the guys before him weren't great either.
I mean, that's been the issue.
They just can't seem to get a defense there.
No, their biggest priority of this past off season, after last year, all the points they gave up,
they don't seem to have done any better.
I know this wasn't a high-scoring game, but that's their big problem.
But he still, I mean, they only scored 16 points.
Yeah, that's tough.
And C.D. Layam has been great this year.
I think you could have made an argument.
He should have been one of the MVP candidates coming into the game.
And then when he goes out, it looks like a different team.
And then you go to the Eagles.
I mean, if it wasn't for the Giants and Commanders,
the Eagles situation would have been the most egregious.
I had a unique game watch experience for this.
I bet the Eagles money line.
I watched them kick that field goal.
And it was kind of right as we were getting the afternoon slate.
I turned it off.
Two hours back.
I mean, I had no idea.
And I went to, it was like second half of the one PDM games, I went to my draft kings,
assuming that money would be there.
I had no idea that happened.
So then I'm like, well, did they wave off the Eagles field goal?
I saw it go in.
I had no clue that they gave up that kick return whatsoever.
Here, again.
Eight seconds.
I don't know.
I turned it off.
I don't understand.
These new kickoff rules have been in effect for what?
Two years, maybe three years?
Maybe three years?
Three, I think.
How do these coaches still?
not understand.
So you had the game, what was the game a couple weeks ago?
Was it the Chiefs where the Raiders made the mistake the opposite way?
Who was it that made the mistake where they should have kicked it to them and they kicked
it out of the end zone?
There was a game.
I got to think.
Yeah, I don't have that on top of it.
Well, there was a game where there were like 20 seconds left.
And they should have kicked it out of the end, to them and run the clock and instead.
But here's the thing.
In that game, the team they were playing had timeouts.
That was the key.
They had timeouts.
So you wanted them to run some clock because they had timeouts.
In this game, the Jaguars had no timeouts.
So you want to kick it out of the end zone because even if they complete a pass,
they will not be able to stop the clock.
Getting out of bounds is their only hope.
Dallas and Baltimore.
Dallas and Baltimore.
exactly what it was Dallas and Baltimore.
And Dallas won, right?
Or did both?
That was in Spain, too, right?
I remember that.
No.
Raven scored on a last second field goal.
They had one timeout, so it wasn't as clear cut as this.
But they had one timeout.
And so you kick it to them because they have that timeout, you wanted to run the clock.
In this case, with no time out, kick it out of the end zone.
So here's what I think happened.
I think the Jaguar or the Eagles coach, Nick Siriani, he saw what happened before,
wasn't smart enough to differentiate the situations
and then made the opposite decision
and it backfired the other way.
That was so crazy because he was not going to take it for a touchdown.
There was still a lot of guys.
You could have let him go 10 more yards.
And I know in the moment your brain's not watching the clock.
He was trying to make a tackle.
But if that guy waits half a second to make the tackle, it's game over.
I mean, there are defenders in front of him.
You're exactly right.
It was over.
And the guy comes up from behind shoestrings and made a play.
He's like, if that dude doesn't attack, you're going home, I'm a winner.
It's a great point, great point.
And the hole he had.
He didn't even make a move.
He just shot straight up the gut and all the way down to, and Cam Little, if not in Dallas, he's probably the best kickers.
He's one of the two best kickers in the NFL with range.
That was a great kicker celebration.
Well, that was also Jude Bellingham's celebration from England.
And so being in London, it was the perfect time to break it out.
He would have been the go to that game.
You know, he missed the extra point that allowed the Eagles to take the lead.
So for him to get that redemption.
But I mean, I don't think his extra point,
we heard more about long snapping in that game
than we've heard in a game in a long time.
So their long snapper got hurt.
When did he get hurt?
Because it sounded like he was never in the game.
Was that just a case of because they were in England,
they didn't bring another one?
I'm not sure about when he was out.
No, I mean, I think that actually might be true.
Because I believe he got scratched before the game.
So if the game had been in Jacksonville,
probably you would have just...
A practice squad player.
brought up your practice squad long snapper.
But they were probably like, well, he can't get to England in time.
Need a fan in the stands to come down and long snap for us.
And poor guy.
I mean, the dude they had, how's he the backup?
Every snap he had.
Even the ones that worked.
Even the snap on the final kick was bad.
Yeah, oh, that was way high.
I thought the holder was going to go over.
He should go to the pro bono.
The holder, whoever that guy was.
I just, for me, it's amazing as well as Jacksonville did that.
The Eagles, what a joke.
They had 20 rushing yards.
I mean, how are you this bad?
I did that fake rant when that bit we did a week ago where I'm like,
Siriani should be fired.
Part of that was just leaning on the bit.
But no, this is inexcusable to have that talent.
So who's going to be the first coach to get fired?
I guess the contenders are him.
Is Harbaugh a contender?
Yeah.
A lot of the coaches are new this year.
We had a lot of changes.
your coach, I guess, could have been one.
I think if you all had lost, he might have gotten fired
because it was a Thursday night and they would have had 10 days or whatever.
And the expectations between the Bucks and the Eagles are not even in the same conversation.
The Eagles are supposed to be a contender.
Yeah, how much time does a Super Bowl win by you with Nick Siriani?
So this is two years after it?
I think generally speaking, I think the answer would be two years.
and so you shouldn't fire him until next year.
But I think he is oddly so egregious that I think you have to find.
I mean, some people were even talking about ready to rip the band ass with him last year.
Eagles fans have been disappointed with him since he got the ring.
It feels like NFL will give coaches a longer time.
Like, you know, in hockey, they will fire coaches for having a bad week.
No, they will.
I mean, last year, I think the Philadelphia Flyers went to the playoffs for like the first time in eight years,
were this feel-good story.
And they've started out the season like 0 and 6,
and they're probably going to fire their coach.
And like last year,
I think he might have been named an HL coach of the year.
And I think they're going to fire it.
And then I think last year the Las Vegas team was like in the playoffs,
seven games before the playoffs.
They just fired the coach, hired another guy, and they almost won.
And then they fired him at the end of the year.
Jeez.
Cut throw.
No, think about that for a minute.
The Las Vegas nights, there were eight games before the playoffs.
they fired her coach, even though they were going to be in the playoffs.
Eight games for the playoffs.
Hired this guy.
He takes them to the finals,
loses four games or two, and they fire him at the end of the year.
Not good enough.
Didn't Mike Brown win coach of the year?
It was fired like six months later years ago.
Yeah.
But in football, you're right.
You win and you do get a long leash.
Well, when the Eagles did get their Super Bowl,
remember there's the Jalen Hurts, like Jordan,
ad and everybody's jailing hurts this jailing hurts that eagles might be the new whatever this is
sad to see them start the season this way i know barclay's heard but 20 rushing yards come on
yeah well uh it's uh i don't think a j brown was the problem i don't think they tried to
make him a little bit of escape goat in his locker room issues i don't think j brown was holding that
so who's winning this division giants and james winston because they're in the
I kind of feel like, no, they won't.
I still think it's probably going to be the Cowboys.
And the Cowboys and the Eagles are both two and three.
Is that right?
Yeah.
And this is the worst part about ties.
I hate looking at the standings.
I hate that third column.
Totally agree with you.
Just give them a win or loss.
I just need a clean standings here to help me with the math.
It's another thing that happens in hockey.
I don't know whether the ties, the middle one or the last one, and I never know.
Well, I think it's on the end for us.
And then overseas, it's in the middle.
So that's why.
So confusing.
Wind, draw, lose, and soccer.
So it's win-loss tie.
Here.
Correct.
In the United States.
Don't you think tie should be in the middle?
I don't think it should be in the game.
Okay, though let's say you have a tie.
It should be in the middle because a tie is in the middle of a win and a loss.
Like the wind-draw loss.
If anything, to keep it consistent with what it already exists.
This is like the metric system.
What?
Like the metric system?
No, I know what the metric system is.
Like how we adopt.
that and nobody else has.
We didn't adopt the metric system.
No, he's saying we went rogue.
There's a system in place.
The metric system is what everyone else is.
Yeah, flip it and reverse it.
That's what Billy's saying.
Why are we going against what's already out there?
Everybody else does.
I agree with you.
So you think we should put it in the middle.
We should adopt the metric system is what I'm saying for ties.
Put it in the middle.
Okay, but you're making a connection between ties and the metric system that I don't believe is based in numbers.
It's based in arrogance in us doing whatever we feel.
I agree with you.
I'm with them.
We should have the metric system in life.
Do you think it's too late to check?
Oh, way too late.
Yeah.
I still have to Google the conversion rate.
But the metric system actually makes sense.
Like how many feet are in a mile?
No, no, I mean, let's...
3,000.
No.
What is it?
You should know this.
Everyone should know this.
We learn it.
5,182.
Close.
5,280.
I knew I had the aides and the ones and the twos.
5,280.
Stupidest number imaginable.
Yes.
No, I mean, why was that the number?
Well, I mean, the Bargotsie S&L skits perfect on this.
It is.
But it also just showcases who decided that?
12 inches to a foot.
Why not?
Just make it 10.
Exactly.
Or 5.
12.
And then how many yards are in a mile?
Why do we even have yards?
What does a yard do?
Do you use a yard every, except outside of football?
Not outside football.
No, and that Bargazzi thing does a really good job about that because he's right.
Yards don't exist outside of football.
I'm not one time in my life.
So why didn't football just make it feet?
Actually, golf, golf too, but those two.
Well, both.
Why is a football field not 300 feet?
I don't know.
You got to have 30 feet.
You have to have 30 feet for maybe too many hash marks.
I guess that could be it.
The paint, save it on paint.
Yeah, it's a paint saver.
So we're cheap.
That's what it is.
We're cheap with our paint.
And look at us now.
And then...
Fahrenheit and Celsius is the same way.
Fahrenheit, also dumb.
What's the boiling point?
Do you all know?
Couldn't tell you.
30.
That's freezing.
No.
Do none of you know the boiling point?
Just when the bubble start coming up.
But you know what that is in Fahrenheit?
No.
We live in America.
We don't need...
Do you know?
160.
And that's not 160.
It's two.
120.
Celsius is 100, right?
Which makes a lot more sense.
But what's interesting is their freezing point is zero.
Our freezing point is 32.
Why?
It doesn't make any sense.
Why?
Like you could have just said 30.
You made it up.
Or we could have just said zero.
If you are going to make it up, you can still do even.
You're literally making it up.
You can do whatever you want.
Why do we pick random numbers?
Like when they came up, let's just say they came up with our temperature,
we could have just made zero.
We could have been like, we're going to start with this.
And for some reason, they were like, let's just start with 32.
Or even if you wanted to do yards, make it five.
You know, just let's keep things even.
Yeah, because the-
And it's two yards to go 10 feet.
This is very metaphysical.
But a foot is a foot just because we set it.
Right?
Like a foot could be 18 inches.
An inch could be a different.
Like, we, you could have picked anything.

Let's go over some games.
We mentioned the Cowboys, and then we mentioned the Jaguars game.
So let's go to Packers Bears, just a brutal beat down.
Tyler Bejant was, the Tyson Bejian, was just awful.
Would you, if they, I think they have one more week without Caleb, would you start Keenham?
You paid a lot of money for Bejant to be your backup.
I'd probably just roll with it.
He looked good in the other games, had a bad game.
I mean, Green Bay needed to wake up eventually.
This was just their wake up and you were the other team.
I wouldn't, I mean, get Caleb back in a hurry, but I don't think I'd go to Keenham over Bay Gent moving forward.
He was really bad, though.
He was really bad.
It wasn't just, he made some awful throws.
Yeah, he was awful.
They brought Keenham in at the end, and Keenham drove him down the field, which will only make that a bigger discussion in Chicago.
Who do you have this?
We just survive, and then.
Let's see.
We're three and two.
The problem is both of our losses are to division teams, and we play at the Falcons.
But see, that's a tough game because that's a game you need to win.
And you got to make sure you don't screw it up and beat yourself.
Well, Pennix got hurt.
We get right into that one because there's some talking points of that game.
Christian Watson, though, quickly becoming maybe one of the best receivers in the league.
That catch was crazy.
That was crazy.
He's got six touchdowns this season.
So I think that's second in the league, and that catch was one of the best of the day.
Do you all, like Christian Watson's a good example, the guys that have done the interviews with us?
Are you like, I do.
My brain was like, yeah, we know the kind of thing.
I've got a female friend of mine that doesn't know anything about football, but she really cares about her fantasy team.
And she makes me help her with the draft and then gets mad at me as if like, I'm like, I'm doing you a favor.
And she just gets angry.
And I had her pick Christian Watson.
Oh, nice.
and then she'll send me before the week.
She'll be like, who should I start?
And I always say start Christian Watson and she won't.
What?
He had two yesterday, didn't he?
Well, because it's only like an 18 league so you can be loaded with stars.
And then she wrote me yesterday and said, you didn't tell me to start Christian once.
I was like, I was tired of telling you.
You just kept ignoring me.
Two TD Day for him.
So I do root for him.
And I actually picked him for her because of our interview.
What did you all make of the jerseys, Green Bay wearing?
I didn't like them.
I didn't even know what that color was.
My color will didn't have that color.
Yeah, it was almost like...
Roy G. Biv doesn't have that.
It was almost like people that have glaucomas version of their...
It was like smokers long.
I don't know that's a color, but...
It was kind of...
Yeah.
It was what I imagine smoker breath looks like under the microscope.
I heard the announcer explain it as it's to their stock, like the Green Bay, you know, they own the team.
It's a nod to like the old...
I don't know if the paper was printed on, but that was the explanation.
It's a nod to like...
Yeah, it's like paper that's been out in the sun.
Is that what it was?
I guess that's what it was.
We're smokers.
Either one.
Just an odd.
I think they should retire that.
I thought it was ugly.
And what are we going to do for our uniforms this year?
A nod to the old contract.
A nod to stocks that sat out in the sun.
Well, they won in them.
Maybe they'll bring it back.
Bingles, 31, Dolphins 24.
I'm going to make a confession here.
I don't remember this game.
I know my multi-views
I know it was on television
well then you give us the wrap up
Burrow looked good
four touchdown passes
I think the stories that is a little closer
than anyone expected
it ended up being like a touchdown game
I don't think there's any point
we thought the dolphins would win
but they showed some life
well it's kind of like the Chiefs game
against the Dolphins
it felt like you always kind of knew
the Bengals were going to win
but the dolphins hung around
yeah so that's partially why
as I had my multi-view
I'm watching it but at the same time it's like
well the Bingas
are going to win this.
But, you know, Burrow having a good game when earlier in the week, Higgins and Chase were
both questionable, I'd say, would be the top headline there.
Yeah, Jamar played and played well in that game.
Burrow threw for four touchdowns.
So good to get back on track.
It was good to see Burrow be good again.
That Jamar Chase catch was great.
But you mentioned the Watson case catch, his catch, and then the Trey McBride catch.
Oh, yeah, he's so good.
So there were like three kind of highlight catches today that will probably be on the end of the
year list.
So that was, and I guess now the Texans beat the Titans 26 to 3.
So I think the dolphins can say they're now not the worst team.
Oh, no, no, no.
People are now calling the Titans the worst team in decades.
Like if you laughed at the Jets, you're going to laugh even harder at the Titans.
We're that bad.
We've won three home or two home games in three years.
Or three home games in two years, excuse me, before this.
Yeah, but I think they're extra bad.
No, they are.
Did you see the clip of the left tackle blocking no one?
It's hilarious.
It's really unbelievable.
Go to my Twitter and scroll down because I retweeted it pretty late last night.
It is one of the best football bloopers you'll ever see.
But they're just so bad.
I mean, their numbers, if you were to just look at like analytics,
the last team in whatever category you want to pick,
you could build a Walmart between them and the Titans further down on that same sheet.
Oh, that's it.
That is great.
Oh, and he just lets the guy run by him, too.
Yeah.
Oh, that's one of the worst plays I've ever seen.
I'm going to go back to that again.
So who's he looking at here?
Yeah, exactly.
We kicked a field goal on the opening drive.
He had a lead.
Yeah, we led.
Kicked a field goal on the opening drive and never did anything again.
That is one of the worst plays of it.
Three American points.
I do like the guy that posted it, too, his name is Stone Titan.
Yeah.
There's a lot of Stone Titans.
Right.
Yeah, they're awful.
I enjoyed the sign that said blink twice if you need help, Cam.
Oh, we had the brown bags out.
We're there.
I told you all before this season started
It's happening
This is my life
So they're the worst team, right?
Yes, and the reason I saw this, Titans fans know
If you look at our draft history,
there's not like anyone that's done anything
And when you have a top 10 pick so many years
And none of them do anything for you
You're never going to be good.
Yeah, it was interesting, they do this thing at the beginning
of the Kentucky games where they show everyone
that plays in the NFL from Kentucky.
First, we have a lot more than you realize.
We're doing well.
And Will Levis got the biggest
Like ovation
Oh really?
Which I thought was kind of strange
Because it's like he's only
Kind of in the league
But I wonder if he's on the Titans
And I'd say Will's more in the league than Wondell
Being on a practice squad
Like Titans don't even
You know in soccer you have to move down
I think they should be put in like the Mac
Relegated
Yeah, relegated us to the Mac.
We do not belong in the National Football League
Okay.
People are being mean to Cam Ward, and I'm disappointed.
You really are.
Listen, I hope Amy's listening.
I'd say it to his face.
People are being really hard to Cam Ward, and he's not been good.
I'm disappointed too.
I just need people that don't watch the Titans to understand.
Peak Tom Brady would be called a bust in this offense.
People were hard on Levis.
People were hard on Malik Willis.
I'm not saying, Mario's loving this.
Look at Mario.
He really is worked up, man.
When's last time he's seen him this worked up?
I'm not saying Malik Willis or Willis in the air.
I'm saying those guys never had a fair chance because this is just an unbelievable.
So do you have optimism?
No, we drafted.
We knew in the moment when we took Carnell Tate at four, no one projected him to be there.
We're like, okay, let's see if this works out.
Not working out.
Add him to the list of draft picks that will be on other teams trying to make the roster in three years.
He's a wide receiver, though.
Like who's going to get him the ball?
I don't know.
I wish we just show up and just punt.
first
Every play
Robert Saul and Brian Debel
I understand as head coaches
They got fired
But you would think two guys
That were head coaches
The NFL maybe could collectively
Win a football game
You would think so
No
The Chicago Bear scored more points
In week one 59
Than the Tennessee Titans have scored
Through their first five weeks
That's amazing
That's amazing
Excuse me
Two and 19 in Nashville
In the last 21 games
Yeah
Wow
New stadium on the way
And you know what
next Sunday, I'll be sitting there and I'll watch every snap because I can't quit them.
I hate them and I can't quit them.
Jet 17 Browns 12.
This was an awful game.
In the rain.
Deshawn Watson had multiple chances there at the end to bring them back and just couldn't.
This was probably the Deshaun Watson.
Everybody thought they were going to see throughout the year.
And if you didn't watch Commanders Giants, this is the game where Browns and Jets were trying to lose.
There are a lot of plays.
A lot of plays.
It's like, okay, well, that's the deciding one.
They'd just give it right back.
That's kind of what you expect when the schedule comes out and you see Browns versus Jets.
But both these teams would play a little better than the expectations, but they both looked bad in this game.
And it was pouring rain the whole time.
So I think that didn't help either, that it was just a constant deluge of rain.
I also didn't like how Aaron Glenn was seductively waving his challenge flag.
Did you see that?
I did.
What do you mean seductively?
It's like he was like trying to make eye contact with me and while he was doing that.
Here's the video.
Oh, that is a little.
Ooh.
I am not making eye contact with the ref.
Or if I am the ref.
Yeah, that's interesting.
Did you have the Browns at 3 and 2?
Even though they, I mean, lost this one, but still got a winning record.
No.
I mean, the Browns were almost 4'1.
The Jets have been, like, better this year.
Like, I don't know what the record's going to end up, but they are much more competitive
this year than they've been.
They could easily be 3 and 2.
I think it was the Packers that they should have beaten, that they kind of blew it at the end.
Yeah, they finally got their interception.
Yeah.
Things are happening.
Steelers 34, Colts 22.
The Colts, would they have five field goals?
It was a lot.
They just couldn't convert.
Like, they actually drove the ball a lot.
They just couldn't get in the end zone.
And then, you know, Aaron Rogers has these moments where he looks good.
But really, Jalen Warren was the story.
He was just on my fantasy team kind of helped.
Oh, you had been a big number for him.
I had Drake May and Jailen Moore.
Oh, nice.
But it was good because the rest of my team, C.D. Lamb got hurt.
You know, we, we, this next man opened down.
One play at a time.
I was without my top four draft picks in fantasy.
That was fun if you ever get a chance to do that.
Jalen Warren had like a 50-yard touchdown and 80-yard touchdown.
He was all over the place.
Rogers looked good too, but I'm with you.
He was the story.
He got 16 points in one play, which I don't think I didn't, like, because it was an 80-yard.
touchdown reception. So he got the point for catching.
Six points for the touchdown. So 15 points. And then eight for the yards.
And on the other end, I thought this would be a big Jonathan Taylor game. He didn't do a whole lot.
No. He did not. So.
Well, the Colts get the Titans next week. Congratulations.
If you all want me to talk more about them.
Patriots Raiders, we were ready to give up on Drake May.
And then he was huge.
It was great, actually. This was so weird. See a guy played so bad. The first
three weeks. And then the last two weeks has been excellent. And this looked like the Drake
May that people say exist, he looked like in that game. Yeah, in the preseason where people
were ranking him as a top five quarterback and MVP candidate. That's the Drake May they were
talking about. Five touchdowns. The last two weeks, they've really gotten their turnovers down.
The offense had a ton of yards this game. On the other side, though, we got to see Mendoza
for the first time came in and handed off. So they called his number late in the game.
He threw one pass and like hit in the arm. And they were like, right, no more than a whole lot.
But, I mean, he did get a nice pop when he came in.
First time seeing them in the uniform.
I saw there were a lot of people there with Indiana jerseys on.
And it's like, man, you go all the way out there.
I guess.
Probably bought the tickets before the season started.
We're like, yeah, we'll go, honey.
We'll go to the game.
And then you get to see him one garbage time thing.
Maybe they took a picture of him.
He's in there briefly.
But, you know, the Raiders, it was a bad, bad loss.
Yeah, Trayvian Henderson got hurt.
And Will Campbell.
Yeah, Will Campbell too.
Is Will Campbell's like out for the year?
I'm not sure on that.
He's the guy that just got completely burned during the Super Bowl, right?
Yeah, the LSU lineman.
Yeah, he's good, though.
He just had a short arm.
Yeah, he's got the wee-bo-bo-y arms.
That's right.
Yeah, you do we-bo-boo-boo.
Viking Saints, the Vikings stink.
I can't believe they're five.
Best defense in the NFL.
Maybe so, yeah.
I bet Saints Money Line just solely because I don't want to live in a world where the Vikings are
five-and-o with that roster.
And they got me here.
Justin Jefferson, New Orleans guy, got a touchdown.
is gritty.
Kyle and Murray decent.
Aaron Jones had a big game.
It's been kind of disappointing to me this year.
I thought they'd be pretty good and they're one and four.
And the thing is they lose to bad,
they lose these bad teams.
Like they should be three and two or four and one.
And they've had some close losses.
It was a week one.
They were in a shootout with Detroit,
lose at the end.
I think there's one more game.
They're in it until the very end.
Maybe at Baltimore.
They won at Baltimore.
The Raiders, they lost to them at home, 35 to 27.
Maybe that's one I'm thinking of.
But they've been right there in a couple of these games.
Yeah. I mean, I don't know.
Kyler Murray, he's not good.
I don't understand how they're 5 and 0.
Like, let me look at the rest of their schedule.
Like, are they going to keep winning?
I mean, they play the Colts next week,
then the Lions, the Bills, the Packers, and the 4-9.
So their schedule gets harder.
So we'll find out.
But they could easily win next week.
I mean, they could go into that game against the Lions, 6-0.
And they're winning.
so it's hard to discredit them,
but they've scored 9 points, 15 points, 20 points.
Like, the offense isn't doing much.
And part of it's the schedule.
I guess they did go to the...
But they did beat, I mean, they beat the Packers.
They beat the Bears.
Then Tampa, Miami, New Orleans.
Those teams stink.
But I don't trust that offense.
But the Bears game, it was pouring rain.
It was 9 to 3.
I don't know.
But they're 5 and 0.
So, shocker.
Scoreboard.
Broncos Chargers.
Has there ever been a call?
quarterback fall off more than Justin Herbert.
Not at all.
This was the year whereby he's like, you got one more chance to do something.
And not only if you're not taking a step forward, you've taken like five steps backward.
Harbaugh said he was going to be the best quarterback of all time.
I mean, you would have thought, though, with Jim Harbaugh, who has had success with quarterbacks,
Mike McDaniel, who had success with quarterbacks, and then a guy who had been successful,
this would be a positive step.
And he's awful.
what I think they turned over twice late in the game.
They've blamed the line for a year and a half now.
At some point, it's not the line.
I know the line has been banged up and it's not good,
but maybe also Herbert and Harbaugh and McDaniels
not getting it done just collectively either.
The fact that there's a chance that they weren't going to work out,
but the fact that the Chargers are 0 and 5 is,
I think the biggest surprise of anything that's happened this year.
Their offensive line has four rookies on it right now.
So, I mean, I can understand some struggles.
Four rookies.
Well, okay.
If you're going to have the invest in this like allegedly top six, top seven quarterback, you can't just play four rookies.
You've got to have something else.
I can't believe they have four rookies.
That is kind of crazy.
But I still don't care.
He's still awful.
He'll have open throws and just throw it to the other team.
That's what I'm saying.
The line excuse only works so long.
When you're 0 and 5 and it just looks like you're bad at football, I'm sorry about your line, but it's also you.
Yeah, well, not a good...
Broncos weren't great offensively here.
No.
Got the win, though.
Yeah, they did just enough.
Crowd was all Broncos fans.
Lions and Cardinals, you know, the lines started out,
O and 2, got that just beat down loss to the bills.
But now, 4521 at Arizona,
a team that at least had been kind of frisky early in the year.
The Lions are unique.
I think last year I said they're a Super Bowl defense
or Super Bowl offense, their defense needs to be in college.
that kind of proved out again here.
But that offense is as good as the bills and others are,
the lions might even have the best offense.
They got a great running back.
And, you know,
receivers, LaPort is good.
Two good tight ends, golf.
Brown.
This is the game when I go to roosters on Sunday.
I go to roosters during the late games.
Good pick.
The Cardinals are always.
line and it's only on one TV usually.
And so I tend to just not see any of it.
So I just want to say I didn't see any of it.
I'll look this up because I had the feeling.
I just want to be sure.
Lyons number one in points per game and several offensive categories.
They score more than the bills.
I would not have had, even though I think they're good, I wouldn't have expected that.
It's got to be all offense for them this year.
And 31st and points for game.
Yeah, 31 a game.
That's wild.
They keep scoring.
49ers beat the Seahawks.
Great game.
Both teams, I thought, played really well.
49ers are the best team in the league?
Yes.
When you consider they have all these injuries
and they just find a way to win
and they beat good teams.
I mean, they've, you know,
they've beaten the Seahawks, the Broncos,
dolphins, Cardinals, and Rams.
They've beaten their two biggest rivals
who might be the second and third best team in the league.
And did you see how to say?
And those were scheduled road games.
So the next time they play those teams,
they're both of them are going to come to San Francisco
in the substation.
This is a huge win at the end.
I don't know if you are watching, but it ended on a review.
Cooper Cup, I thought it had a first down, and they didn't give it to them.
Very close.
I would have given it to him just so I'm not the one deciding the game.
I would have said first.
I thought he got it.
I did too.
But for a game with that magnitude, I mean, that could decide who has home field if they meet again in the playoffs.
Ending like that was nuts for the game of the day.
There's seven combined turnovers in the game.
There were a lot of turnovers, isn't.
Well, in the end zone for a touchdown.
And Mike Evans looked great, showed you why he's in.
Mike Evans was great.
you.
Yeah.
I know your team won, but as a Bucks fan, Mike Evans looked like he was 20-something.
He looked incredible.
Yeah, he looked good.
Exactly what I thought would happen.
Is Sam, do you think, Sam Darnold, did he get hurt, do you think?
Have they said anything clear?
He looked like he got hurt, and then his couple throws after it were not quite the same.
I thought he looked like he got hurt to me.
I mean, he could have re-agravated what he's been out with?
I don't know.
I haven't seen anything on that yet, so.
Yeah.

Ravens Falcons.
Sunday night football.
Mm-hmm.
Michael Pinnock's playing well, gets hurt, game changes.
Tyler Huntley, who has played for the Ravens since they were in Cleveland as the backup,
comes in for like a couple games every year and always does pretty well.
How does nobody ever signed him?
Like, do you ever wonder about like why some team, why does just Kobe Bressett get to start everywhere?
And Tyler Huntley always has to snoop, always has to be Lamar's backup.
The Ravens are gaykeeping them.
They found the perfect backup.
They can run the system just the way they want.
They play him just enough where no one really notices and tries to steal.
That's true.
He gets a couple games a year.
I hit a little anytime touchdown here.
You had 200 yards, ran the ball a little bit.
Pretty good.
Look good.
And then poor Tua.
So I watched 95% of this game.
Maybe we'll call it 80.
And I'm not paying it.
I didn't know Tua was in for the there at the end.
And I got someone just sent me, oh no, Tua attacks.
That's all it said.
I'm like, my God, surely Tua had done something else.
So immediately go to Twitter and there it is.
So he had a completion in regulation, and then they put pinnics back in.
And then I guess he started hurting more.
And so then Tua did overtime.
Tua, just, I would love to see you on a beach.
Just go live, man.
You think that play might have ended it?
Well, he's just become a meme.
The turnovers are always a blooper.
That was a horrible.
I mean, he, when's the last time someone was just speaking positively how good of football two is?
It's not.
It's like, buddy, you're a great.
The Alabama moments were great.
The early NFL stuff was fun.
Go live your life, man.
You don't have to do this.
It's sad.
It's kind of sad, you know?
It's a bad interception.
Yeah.
I think Michael Pennix might be all right.
I think he might be good.
Is that plausible?
You mean good at football or like his injury last night?
I do think he's good football.
I don't know about his injury.
No, I think he's good at football.
Yeah.
I don't know if he'll be able to stay healthy in his life.
But I do think he's pretty good.
And the Ravens is around him, help him.
So I'm a little bit of a falcons believer when he's healthy with all the guys he has around him.
Does Mark Andrews have to retire?
He had a bad game.
Again, yeah.
Has he had, have these other games been bad?
Well, he had the big drop in the playoffs.
He's got the bad turnover.
The Ravens fan base, I don't know if they really like him.
And he's a problem.
That's a problem because he's a legend.
And that stinks.
But he has been bad.
Tyler Loop, big game for me.
What you got?
It's my guy.
Loop de Loop.
All right.
So there's your wrap up.
All right, a couple news notes, and we'll get out of here.
The Arizona Cardinals agreed to trade wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr.
And a 2027th to the Houston Texans in exchange for a 2027 second and sixth round pick.
Marvin Harrison Jr. reunites with his Ohio State quarterback, C.J. Stroud.
He was the fourth pick in the 2024 NFL draft.
And in 33 games with the Cardinals, he had 1,500 yards and 13 TDs.
I found this to be a really weird story.
They announced he was traded, but then didn't.
say who it was two. They were just like, Marvin Harrison's traded, film in 11, like three days later,
then they say who it is. I mean, it's almost like they were just, they just decided, yeah,
we're just, we stink. Or they may be like, he stinks. I've never, though, I've never seen
a story where they told you he was traded without telling you who for many days. And then I, wasn't it,
the Texans coach is the one that announced it in the press conference yesterday. He's like,
oh, by the way, we got Marvin Harrison as he's walking off. Why do you think they didn't say?
where he was going. I don't know. I think it was pending on if they beat the Titans or not.
I mean, if they lose to the Titans, the seasons over. There's no reason to trade a second.
You know what, that may actually be true. Like, if we beat the Titans, then we're going to do it.
But then what do they do if they don't beat the Titans? Deals off. You're over anyway.
Yeah, but you've already said he's traded. So you can't like, I was just kidding.
Other team that was interested has to take them at that point. So you think they had a backup option? Interesting.
maybe that would make some sense the texans need help i don't know if he's the answer they're wasting
a good defense yeah i don't know if you've seen the like um i know i keep bringing them so hockey but
it comes up this dude for the troy where red wings name's dylan larkin he demanded a trade
during the offseason he's like this their best player like beloved demands a trade
the red wings are just like no
and so at first he's like well then i'm not going to play and they're like
then we're not going to get paid.
So he decides to play.
And on opening night, the fans just boo the hell out of it.
And they're just like, boo!
Then the next game, boo!
And then he scores.
Yay!
And it just goes to show.
Fans just like, so maybe you could have brought him back and been like, well, we didn't trade you.
Yeah, we can forgive.
Since you brought up hockey, I wouldn't even do this.
but your hurricanes outscore the Titans yesterday.
Just wanted to let you know.
Congratulations.
Did you see the hurricanes posted a mean tweet?
Did you see the tweet?
They beat Philadelphia Flyers.
And they said the hurricanes have more wins in the month of October
than the Flyers, Phillies, and Eagles combined.
Oh, no.
That's a tough look.
And that's only five.
Isn't that wild?
That's one of the meaner tweets I've ever seen.
It's a deep cut if you're a Philly person.
It's one knows you think it's bad.
Then you see it like that.
Like, oh, God, this is bad.
It's really bad.
All right, what else?
Last Friday, legendary Bears head coach and first tight end ever inducted into the pro football hall of fame.
Mike Dicka passed away at the age of 86.
Dicka's 85 Bears is arguably the greatest defense in NFL history.
And the franchise is only Super Bowl.
He was the fifth overall pick in 1961, drafted by the Bears.
rest in peace, Mike Dicko.
One of the, I was trying to think probably the only person,
the only other person this describes is John Madden.
A great player, a great coach, a great broadcast.
How many other people, like Hall of Fame level player,
Hall of Fame level coach,
I don't know if he was a Hall of Fame level broadcaster,
but still very good for a long time.
I mean, only John Madden is like that.
And, and alleged, I mean, like the coach of my youth, you know, I talked about this a lot on other stuff, but I was really sad to see.
I mean, for me, you know, if you were to say, okay, who are the Mount Rushmore of coaches in my life?
It would be like Rick Petino, John Cal Perry, my dick.
I mean, that would be for, and then maybe Bobby Cox for back when I was a bracelet.
Legend also there.
Yeah, I don't, I don't go back far enough to put him as places.
ranking coaches, but when I think of just like a, like a character or maybe a personality or even a
look, it's like Mike Ditka.
Like it's like an image of Mike Digka.
There's my coaches better than him.
But he's like, there's like a Mike Ditka brand.
No, yeah, for sure.
There's like we talked about Halloween costumes, you know, SNL skits.
I can't think of many coaches that have that, like just a look in a brand that he had.
And he embodied the city.
Yeah.
Like when you, like, I'm not sure how many coaches have ever embodied a city more than Mike Dicka
embodied Chicago.
everything about played in Chicago, coached in Chicago.
Kind of seemed like he was cool.
There's that famous clip of when apparently he only, he didn't use credit cards,
even into the 2010s, only carried cash.
Love that.
Carried a roll of cash everywhere he went.
There's that famous clip of Chris Carter on the ESPN countdown going, show him, coach.
And he just pulls out a big wad, a roll of dollars.
And they talked about how that's where he does.
If he goes to a, they would do the show in New York, he would go to restaurants,
just pull out his big wad on the table and throw it down and pay for everybody's meal.
I was speaking in restaurants, I was thinking in late 80s, 90s, heck, maybe he died.
I bet him on the city of Chicago was a time.
He had a restaurant.
He was walking up into steakhouses and owning the joint.
I remember his steakhouse.
He had a Ditka's Steakhouse for a long time.
I was there for New Year's Eve.
I was there.
I was there.
New Year's Eve.
Yeah.
And in part,
coach of arguably the most iconic team of all time.
Maybe the most iconic team.
Like,
who are the most iconic teams in the history of sports?
I mean,
I don't know.
85 bears.
The USA hockey team.
Yeah,
but who's on that team?
I mean,
like,
there was,
like,
no one knows the names of those players.
But like,
everybody knows Walter Payton,
Jim McMahon in the fridge.
Yeah.
You know.
Um,
I'm trying to.
trying to think.
I guess, I mean, like there are dynasties, like the Jordan dynasty and the magic and bird,
but really those dynasties in some ways were defined by like a player.
The Jordan Bulls, the magic, bird, Russell.
But the Bears, I mean, Walter Payton was a star, but it was kind of like a collective,
almost aura of a group.
And a great defense.
And he was the sort of model of that, you know?
I didn't know Mike Dicko was a football coach.
I saw him in kicking and screaming with Will Ferrer after the first time.
I've heard, I've never seen that.
I've heard, though, that he was good in that.
He was very good.
I watched his golf video that went viral this week.
Oh, yeah, that's a big cigar.
Yeah, he's a pretty good golf or two.
Yeah.
All right, who else?
All right, I got a couple more.
After leading a game-winning drive to get the 49ers to 5-0,
Brock Purdy is now the favorite to win the NFL MVP,
according to Draft Kings at plus 280.
Should be.
It's the first time all season that Josh Allen has not been the favorite.
Brock Purdy has 1,200-year.
yards, 13 touchdowns, and two interceptions for the 2022 7th round pick.
I've been a skeptic, but no reason to be this year.
He's been great.
He has.
He's earned that.
And we mentioned, like, Kittle hit in the jets a week ago.
Just that whole operation looks good and healthy, look a little younger than they actually
say on their IDs.
I've been very impressed with the 40 honors.
And you saw, you may have heard, uh, what was it Ryan, not Ryan, Lewis Reddick said,
something to the effect of, Brought Purdy's great, but basically said,
if Jalen Hertz had, if Jalen Hertz had been in Kyle Shanahan's system, he would have been the same thing.
You can do that a lot with different things.
It's a hard game to play, but I do agree that Shannon's system in that roster is probably a lot of guys that would do well.
Maybe not as well as Purdy is doing right now, but that looks like a place a lot of people could win.
Yeah.
And finally, for the third straight season, all four NFC North teams have a winning round.
record at the same time.
No other division has accomplished this feat even two consecutive seasons since the 2002
reallignment.
Minnesota is 5 and O and Green Bay, Detroit, and Chicago all sit at three and two.
So what's the stat again?
They all have winning records.
At the same time, this is the third straight season.
All four NFC North teams have done this.
And that's never happened.
No other division has accomplished this feat even two consecutive seasons.
Wow.
NFC North.
And two realignment.
Real football.
real men.
That's all I got.
It's exciting for you,
but also that just shows you the road.
You got...
I don't think we're...
This isn't our year.
I've always kind of thought
next year is the year.
If the Bears are going to do it,
next year is the year to do it.
We just need to make sure
we don't take a giant leap backwards.
But I never thought this was the year.
This is,
this to me is the Rams' bills year
and maybe the 49ers.
Like the Rams and the bills
are in,
a window that may close after this year.
Rams definitely.
The 49ers, I think, still have years.
And maybe the bills do too.
But this is their year.
I think the Bears window really opens starting next year.
And then the other teams are all good, too,
except the Vikings who steak and are five and oh.
Yeah, I'm in the same boat.
I don't think this is the Titans year.
I'm looking at 2009.
That's when we'll get things.
That would be a good year for you all.
All right.
Well, thank you all.
Billy, thank you very much.
We will see you hopefully midweek.
There's some travel issues that may make it hard to do at midweek.
If we don't, we'll see you to start the next week.
