Starting point is 00:00:00 The job market is bleak. Americans today are far more likely to have a DUI than a 401k, and it's only going to be worse for your kids. AI, globalization, and private equity are all hard at work, throwing your six-figure pipe dream straight into the wood chipper, along with the idea of ever owning a home, privacy, and human rights. And the rise of flock cameras means that even the time-tested fallback of becoming a violent criminal is no longer a reliable option.
Starting point is 00:00:33 If you want to give your kids any chance of success, it's time to start playing the lottery with their future in the high-stakes world of youth sports. If you're not prepared to drop tens of thousands of dollars on pitching coaches, special bats, and performance-enhancing surgeries for your little leaguer, then you may be guilty of parental malpractice. A lot of people who spent the last few years
Starting point is 00:00:57 complaining about the fairness of trans kids and sports are going to have a lot of egg on their face. Because the most viable success strategy will be the Rodney Dangerfield film Ladybugs, in which he convinces a teenage boy to play for the girls' soccer team that he's coaching. In the 90s, that was just good, wholesome fun. But in the approaching dark future, it will just be the cost of doing business. What about the integrity of the game? Let Ken Burns worry about that horse shit. I'd worry much more about the integrity of your son's ACL.
Starting point is 00:01:35 You better fly into Germany so we can get this blood swapped out in the Regina Keem machine. There will be any accountants. There will be any middle managers. It will only be AI robots, professional athletes, and then everyone else, who gets paid in rotten vegetables to senselessly eat mountains of dirt for eight hours a day. There's a quiet nobility in that, I suppose. The choice is yours.
Starting point is 00:02:05 Welcome to the rat race. Welcome to Kump. Advanced stats and $500 bats why baseball for six-year-olds is breaking the bank. This is a pretty predictable outcome, in my opinion. We had these travel teams that were talking about here. We've had these things for years.
Starting point is 00:02:23 I mean, when I was a kid, I was a little league and I was terrible at it. I couldn't catch a ball. I wasn't, you know, it wasn't good hitting. I would curse out the other team. I wasn't even good at that, though. That's the thing. I remember I was kind of like,
Starting point is 00:02:38 I was sponsored by a liquor store where the guy who owned it went to jail for like blowing up at the old liquor store. It was some price fixing thing. And I remember early, like in the first game we had on a Saturday morning, just screaming. for no reason I was in like right field screaming like you know the team we were playing was called the Orioles I'm going shit had orioles
Starting point is 00:03:04 shit had orio you suck yeah you suck yeah you suck and like their coach was like why are you saying this like you know we don't suck and we don't and I'm like we don't say you did I just said we don't and I'm like I was just on my mind and my parents were so ashamed of me um and I only bring that story up to go even back then there were kids who were all on travel teams, I remember. That was not, you know, that was a regular little league. But there was kids on that team who hated my guts because, you know, I couldn't, I was always fumbling the ball and making a mess. And they were trying to get, you know, their stats up. But they were on the weekends, I guess, go in a minivan around the state or around the county,
Starting point is 00:03:46 whatever, and like playing these competitive games. But it wasn't like a necessity back then. It was just kind of like, it was, it was an extra ambition. you know, maybe you're like your ex-con dad wanted to live vicariously through you. And so you would, uh, you'd be, you know, we're gonna give them the best opportunity to like, you know, to be, you know, and a kid, yeah, maybe he was,
Starting point is 00:04:09 maybe he didn't. Maybe your mom was a busy body, you know. I mean, I'm sure I could have even better. If I was, if someone put some investment in me, imagine maybe I could have caught a ball. I don't know. Um, I think I can catch a ball now. but that's after the years of
Starting point is 00:04:25 of trial and error. But my point is it was just like it was a thing it was an extra thing and like yes, some people yeah I didn't grow up in the I mean as far as I know if you want to be in baseball
Starting point is 00:04:38 you want to be in the DR right Dominican Republic that's where all the baseball players come from. I don't know where these kids are on travel teams now even but that's how bleak the things have gotten that's how limited the options are people are realizing that they're going to send their kids into like you know the into a college is one thing but like and i never felt this way but it was always present for me this idea
Starting point is 00:05:08 even when i was a kid that like oh your whole future is ahead of you kind of thing and you have to make these decisions now i always just fucking yeah i was a smart kid up to a point but i never did my homework and it also wasn't like to get like some kids that didn't do their work and they'd be like oh this kid's a daydreamer and they call on me he's like I you know six plus variable math they would know it right of top of their head and they would look great oh like like like like that scene in social network where he's like eight six four bits and two 24 bits the kid the teacher thought he was just bullshitting I would not know I would you know my my point is uh but regardless I didn't make the right choice I didn't you know uh prepare like I didn't
Starting point is 00:05:50 take these fucking preparation tests. I didn't take these options that seriously. And whatever. You drift around in life because there's jobs around. You can go work in a potato bread warehouse. You can learn photography and photograph dead people. Those things existed.
Starting point is 00:06:07 Are they going to exist in the coming decades? It's hard to say. I mean, I can't imagine, here's a thing. What's the, for instance, more photography. well, they'll still need a murk photographer. Will they? Because, like, who would believe a picture anymore? You can make a guy, if I'm a defense lawyer,
Starting point is 00:06:30 I could just have AI make me a picture of the dead guy. Oh, look, he got stabbed today. You said he got shot. He got stabbed with an ice pick. Or he got stabbed with a big dildo. And you said it was a gunshot. What do you say to this, you know? And you have always AI.
Starting point is 00:06:48 And the guy, that will happen a few times. and they'll just stop having pictures. So that's one industry. I mean, bread might be a thing, but I mean, you know, I used to push around like big trays, like, you know, like stacks of trays,
Starting point is 00:07:01 like 18 stacks or 20 stacks, depending on the day, large tall stacks on pallets. Those things, you'll probably just have a motorized palette, right? Like the possibilities to shred employment are endless.
Starting point is 00:07:19 You know, oh, go, go get a job you can get a job right now if you have a CDL license be a truck driver i was reading the Walmart they pay you a buck 30 a year apparently which it seems pretty good maybe i'll do that but i mean how you know but i guarantee you i'll i'll try i'll get my CDL i'll i'll buy the job maybe and they'll just it'll be automated trucks to come they're on they've been talking about that for a decade now so i just it's just uh the idea of putting your kids is into a college, you know, like preparation process
Starting point is 00:07:55 and then get into college and then what are you major in? I mean, you know, I mean, half the kids I knew who went to college, maybe major in liberal art and they get paid for that. I mean, you, it was like, oh, you get a job in philosophy, get a degree in philosophy, businesses like that. Businesses like that, business don't want that shit anymore. And don't tell me, I have a philosophy degree
Starting point is 00:08:15 and I work for a defense lawyer. I use philosophy to make the witnesses, the victims cry on the stand good for you but in general it's getting more specific they want stem right now but even stem is it gonna i mean maybe that's the first thing to go who's gonna need you to do your slide rule mathematics when they got some fucking you know i got robbie the robot with me i pull them out i just have a head it was so great i mean i'm not like a guy who's like intellectually some people have a chip on their shoulders Like I'm not good at math, but I don't hate people who are, but that's cool.
Starting point is 00:08:55 But I think people who like try hard and like are pretty smart and try hard, but aren't quite smart. They get bitter about like smart people and like you know, because they just have like, yeah, and could probably be also scumbags. But my point is like, I don't have this desire to stick it to STEM people or Matt geniuses. But even I think it would be fun to have some fucking, you know, like some stupid calculus professor talking shit to me. When I'm the tribal governor of whatever war-torn region I moved to, and I pull a robot's head out of my backpack and start spitting out of fucking math equations. What am I talking about?
Starting point is 00:09:41 I'm talking about a future where we can leverage computers and you won't have anything to do. and despite what a lot of musk and people will tell you well what's just usual you'll be able to do art and paint I don't know why these people and not just musk but in general the landscape of people involved especially musk but you're not just him
Starting point is 00:10:04 politically and technical and silicon valley and everything and private equity all these people I mean look at the do you have any health care now do you have it you have you know do you Are you able to get a half? Is anyone looking out for you now? In any way? Is your rent going up all the time?
Starting point is 00:10:23 It's inflation skyrocketing. Are you involved in wars you don't want to be involved in? Yes. You know, are any decisions made to benefit you? Is everything getting more corrupt? No, and then yes, in that order. My point is, I don't know what in any conceivable fashion, you would assume that the people who made all these decisions.
Starting point is 00:10:46 are going to let you laser about and paint for eternity because they built a bunch of shitty robots. Ain't going to happen. They might not kill you because there'll be some kind of, I don't know who the audience will be that will get mad that you're killed. Because I feel like this is like just like ever consolidating wealth pool of like Nepo babies and like fucking tech scumbags are all kind of in on it. it and they won't care like just throw these people in the trash that's about how i view it but maybe they'll let you live because it'll make it'll allow them a certain whatever they need to look down on
Starting point is 00:11:27 someone i guess so the point is um you're gonna have to do something with your time they'll make some kind of busy work if that's the existence you're you're down with like it's like being in prison and it might just be being in prison um cool you know like that's being institutionalized is a thing like you remember in shawshank when brooks was here right like that guy was like the old guy with the bird and he'll him at jail if he was 90 and he just hung himself because he just didn't well like i don't go a superbar he hated working at a supermarket i get it we're in a supermarket is not the most fun i mean i don't think it sucks because it's you know but i just never liked it i was always dragged around
Starting point is 00:12:15 supermarket when I was a kid it's not like wrong with I worked at places like I worked at tvs and whatnot like McDonald's nothing but better than that but for some reason I would always be we spent so long as supermarket being dragged around and just felt like just endless like stream of like just all right can we leave I'd be really you know in the book aisle reading shitty fucking like Tom Clancy's op center or whatever uh so I now I just get I get like fucking like a let me in a supermarket I just want to get out of there but my point it is he himself because he didn't want to do it I get it but you'll be you'll be in prison or if you don't want that you have to be one of the few things that will because they'll
Starting point is 00:12:57 still exist always be sports as long as there's people there'll be sports because you need something for the bastards to like you know get get in with you know to sink their teeth into um I mean maybe eventually it'll just be people murdering each other and we'll watch that some of us already are. But, you know, the best chance your kid will have is to just get them in some kind of athletic pursuit, figure out what they can be good at. You know, if he's tall, do basketball. Like, if he's, if he's short, what are short people do, lose?
Starting point is 00:13:33 I don't know. If you're not, like, you need to start thinking the way, like, I remember I read a book years ago about, like, um, scouts and basketball. Like, you know, the guys who like pioneered, uh, Nike and whatnot. These sponsor, who like started getting kids in high school to sponsor them.
Starting point is 00:13:54 So by the time they got into the college, they were like already on team Nike or team whatever. I think it was Adidas back, you know, this is like 15 years ago probably was pushing like into the like sixth seventh grade type shit. And they were like the way they talked about like just the, they were viewed. people like cattle almost like they look at the parents and just like oh it's like they'll just
Starting point is 00:14:18 make a good bait like his parents are tall or whatever other attributes and it's like that's how you have to be as a person when you're finding a mate you can't it can't be you have to fuck you know if you're at have any kind of like it can't be some tall guy short girl dang you need to you need to you need to pair up with other athletic people even it's not your second you know you You have to think about your kids and give them the option because it's gonna, you know, it's just this only, think about lawyers, gone, cops will just be machines. You know, they'll be private equity people,
Starting point is 00:14:59 but you know, you were never gonna do it anyway. You need to think about like you're, you know, breeding in a way where your kids get longer fingers, that's good for, you know, grabbing a ball, right? What's it what they call, palming a basketball? That's important. You want to think about, you know, kids have sharp teeth. What's sharp teeth help?
Starting point is 00:15:20 Maybe nothing. Maybe I'm wrong. I feel like there's probably something where like, you know, he can kind of keep it. If you keep your mouth, though, usually play with a mouth guard, right? You'll get fines. Here's what I've learned about watching by watching sports. They'll be fines, right? You'll have this like notion that like this guy keeps like not wearing his mouth guard and they keep pin,
Starting point is 00:15:41 like, why is you still in the game? And eventually, you know, the idea is that you keep your mouth open if you have sharp teeth and you like a graze against you. I'm not saying this is LeBron James here. This is a certain kind of person who might have a role in a team. If I'm a coach, I go, oh, this guy's got sharp teeth. And you got to be able to handle the ball a little bit. You can't just get some random psychopath.
Starting point is 00:16:03 But so this guy, here's the thing. I just, I need him to take out to LeBron, to take out to Michael Jordan by having his mouth open. and like, I don't know. I'm trying, you might say, well, you, you're not fucking John Madden. You're not, you know, a sports analyst. Because what, what basketball situation could you possibly have this guy accidentally bite someone on the neck? Because that's what I'm talking about, biting someone on the neck with plausible
Starting point is 00:16:30 liability to the point where that guy is debilitated or out of the game, you know, the guy he bites. These is the kind of, again, this is a sort of like a detour. I'm sorry, you know, we're going to little in the weeds here. But I'm saying it's like, you know, but the overall point is these are the criteria. Not your ACT scores or your AP bio scores or your SAT scores. It's going to be who can you bite? How many goals can you get?
Starting point is 00:16:55 You know, can you, can you, can you, can you know, do you bleed easily? Do you have a glass jaw? These are the things that are going to matter. It's what, I mean, like, there's going to be very few other options, honestly. besides the athletic thing. They'll be the pop, you know, well, let me think. There'll be a pop, you can be a pop star perhaps, right? But I mean, they were already making AI music.
Starting point is 00:17:23 That's the thing. They're making AI music. They have these, like, you know, who's that AI actress, Tilly Norwood? You know, last week, where I met to talk about this last time, Tilly Norwood was on, what was that, who's that British guy, Pierce Morgan and she starts freaking out speaking Chinese. But no, but they're still fine with it. And that's, they're working the kinks out to Tilly Norwood.
Starting point is 00:17:49 But my point is like, they're not going to need your dumb kids to sing like, you know, I will survive or whatever. Leave that shit for karaoke. That would be a thing. Here's the thing. It's good to teach your kids how to sing because karaoke will have a currency in the prison camps that most of us will be a part of. it'll be a past time
Starting point is 00:18:08 you go well I've been to prison not me but you know not prison per se but you might be saying I've been to prison cump you idiot no one does karaoke but yeah but that's just that's currently the taste of prisoners
Starting point is 00:18:26 the people who gravitate towards violent crime were just getting caught you know there's a certain makeup but the more and more people are pushed into the incarceration pool because there's nothing else to do with them. There's going to be a shift in how prisoners act. There'll still be race-based fighting, gang wars,
Starting point is 00:18:46 you know, violence assaults, sexual assaults, all the worst things about prison. But there'll be karaoke, and there might be some more arts and crafts than you were expecting. There'll be more athletics. Prison will have to adapt because we're all going to be there for the most part,
Starting point is 00:19:05 watching your kids perhaps. The best you can hope for. And here's the thing, you having a kid who's in like, you know, the future baseball leagues, it won't be a, like a, the meal ticket you think it is. You'll get, like, extra cornbread
Starting point is 00:19:24 in the prison commissary or whatever that works. Maybe you, there'll be a, you know, people will curry favor with you. Because the other option, really for most people is to be gambling on these sports, right? That's really, here's the thing. And it just occurred to me in real time. The real advantage to having a kid in sports will be that you have an inside track
Starting point is 00:19:49 to affect the gambling. And the gambling is rampant now. People are just pilfering their futures. And maybe some people are making them. Maybe there's some lucky bastards who are doing very well for themselves. I know some people who are good at sports. because they know sports really well like I didn't watch that much sports as a kid I got into basketball later in life still I'm watching all the time you know I watched some other things
Starting point is 00:20:15 occasionally but I'm not expert on like on a fan level I know but I know people who watch like you know every best football game is on Sunday they know they've been watching it for years they and they I think against all a lot they seem to do you know you can do well up to a point with gamble, is my point. If again, it comes, very few people succeed long term, I think. But that one guy in casino,
Starting point is 00:20:40 I mean, he got murdered, right? Or no, De Niro in casino? I think he lived, but they say car bombed them. But not because he, like he, not because he bet wrong on the game.
Starting point is 00:20:50 There's other shit, right, mob stuff. So yeah, like, the point is, you can do, you can do okay.
Starting point is 00:20:56 And you'll do a lot better if you have someone in your family, a child of yours, who you raised, and you provide it for who is now in the position to take a dive perhaps so that you can make a nice healthy bet that will they start looking at the parents more are they looking at them now sure i guess i feel like that might be going on it's worth looking into um but it doesn't seem and look if anyone want any gambling you want to say polymark uh cowshee whatever want dump some money in my fat mouth go ahead
Starting point is 00:21:31 but until then uh whatever i mean i i bet on i'm betting fans i bet the ponies i talked about that right i love gambling i stopped doing it because in three days i lost 300 bucks which is not a tremendous amount of money but it was so exciting that's the thing gambling on sports is such a thrill at least on horse betting because it's just it's like
Starting point is 00:21:52 you don't know anything about them and you have these options and you're trying to like oh this you're looking at like rankings or who's the prospect but it's just very little bit different you know i guess i'll pick him and just before you know the race starts and like and the nature of these things always seem to be the thing you pick is always ahead and then some other one takes you know overtakes them ups and downs big swings very exciting and then you lose but there's another race in albania two seconds later so you get into that and you're betting low stakes but you keep betting that's a lot of fun and i sometimes think about getting bad i mean i forget
Starting point is 00:22:29 about it most of the time but now I'm talking about I'm going to talk myself back into a little horse betting um regardless uh the point is you can will are they scrutinizing are they making sure it's fair i don't know if they're going out of their way i would surprise me if these betting sites faced with the idea the prospect of like someone in a family member i know like they do catch people sometimes. But if you told if you told me, hypothetically, that face with the prospect of me and my kid, I'm convincing my kids
Starting point is 00:23:03 that they'd take a dive and I bet like a hundred grand on it, would they like invent, they might not want to make a big stink because there's a lot of money. And no one, the more corruption you admit to, or you acknowledge, the more people start thinking oh yeah, I guess this thing is, might be rigged, right? See, maybe they're ignoring.
Starting point is 00:23:22 Maybe, I'm sure they'll catch me. I'm sure if I have a kid, I put him in and somehow get him into a professional athletic situation, which doesn't seem likely for me. But, uh, and I got him to take a dive. I'm sure I'd end up in jail. But I'm going to jail anyway. That's the other thing. Who gives her shit?
Starting point is 00:23:41 Like, I mean, it's a very fine line between jail and like, um, just being a guy in the in the future. So whatever. So, I mean, I, I stand by it. I think the best, one of the best, one of the best, best things will be that you'll be able to just you know have an inside track maybe he'll tell you oh he's always the other shit too he'll tell you oh bruno the pitcher he got herpes uh you know from from you know whatever um from his mom uh yesterday so that's crazy you know so just
Starting point is 00:24:19 you know keep that in mind when you're when you're placing your bets you know he won't be pitching as well I'm sure I don't know if there's herpes affect how you pitch again I didn't do that well in a little league I don't know um but information that's gonna be I mean I'm not trying to pretend to be a sousayer or a doom sprayer doom sprayer whatever I don't know what the future holds but something resembling what I'm talking about I think I'm pretty close um it's never you know you you I shouldn't be like really really you're really you shouldn't be like really raising your kids to benefit you. And look, this whole idea, like, you know, you, I just want my kids to have a better life. A, the only, you need to work together is more of the point. Like, your kids, it's going to be a symbiosis. You know, like raising your kids to not be,
Starting point is 00:25:15 like, does it benefit you? Sure, but only in the sense that like, you can then, otherwise why are you doing this? I just like I love my kids. I want to make sure he's a baseball star. No one wants that. I think the boomers have convinced that shown us that no one really wants their kids to do that much better.
Starting point is 00:25:35 Like if you're if you're a lawyer, it'd be nice to your kids also a lawyer. They want no one wants and like if you're poor. Yeah, your kid. I mean, you know, my dad my kid's a doctor. That's great. And if you work a boss like Ralph Cramden. Yeah, I get look, there's there's levels to it. But once you're actually successful, you don't want your kids outshine you.
Starting point is 00:25:57 No one does. And if you're in prison, no one wants their kid to be a baseball star. Like, if you're in prison, it's not right to be like, hey, come visit me. You're a guy who works as a steel mill and you visit your prisoner father who went to jail for like trying to rob a liquor store. But the gun jammed. I guess in that case you know so what about describe it? Sidebar my describing situation were like
Starting point is 00:26:26 oh if only the gun didn't jam I would have murdered the guy behind the counter and got in the way I guess that's how I mean that sounds rough but that's how criminal be whatever so the point is but you know no one wants to be in prison for like you know failing to murder a guy behind the counter and then your son's like you know on the TV you know that's just annoying that's like oh what could have been. You know, you, you want to,
Starting point is 00:26:51 so you, it's got, the parents are going to have to, you know, benefit a bit. Again, we're all going to be in prison anywhere, though. Um,
Starting point is 00:26:59 I mean, there be other options, I guess, right? You can be not, I mean, pop star very, unless you're,
Starting point is 00:27:07 unless you're singing like an angel or you, or you, or you, you know, um, you never know. He's a thing. Kid,
Starting point is 00:27:13 it's like, pop star kid, like you can be a, athletic prospect. also fizzle out. That's part of the problem. That's part of the problem getting them too young. Like I mean, this book I read, played their hearts out, I think it was called.
Starting point is 00:27:27 It was about, you know, some guy from Sports Illustrated wrote it. But it was like 60, you were getting like six graders. And then the kids they were like covering. I think most of them didn't make it. The pros, because like, you know, no one knows at that point. Like you have them got, like,
Starting point is 00:27:38 when you're sixth grade, uh, you, people grow in different spurts and like, you're just like three times taller or sometimes or more, you know, people catch up with each other and they work harder. You know, gifted kids don't intend in sports. They don't know the work is hard a lot of the time. That might change as, you know, because what else are you going to do?
Starting point is 00:27:59 I mean, you know, there'll be less things to distract you going forward. But the point is, the point is, you won't know for sure, but I think there's more variables with pop stars, right? Like, you know, because what's the term like, what the terms of pop? star now is the singing quality or is of the ass I'm gonna adults here we never know we can't like judge a kid basis you know I mean some people will that's that's part of the problem we have these days but I'm just saying it's like you know uh it's just and my must real be AI computer shit anyway you know Tilly Norwood singing the national anthem
Starting point is 00:28:39 at your funeral um you could always be a religious grifter I guess right some kind of like you know they'll be that might be a big thing maybe if your kid's fat or short maybe get them into religion hard but i don't mean like studying the fucking scriptures and shit but like get them into like snake oil shit but a positive way you know people people get a steak oil salesman get a bad rap but think about when people selling snake oil like the old west when like you're getting murdered all the time and like dirt storms everywhere and like Indian attacks and like you're trying to be a gold prospector but you can't find gold and then some guys trying to sell you a steak oil at least he's got hope you know it's like it's that moment it's like a scratcher off lottery ticket right or your own
Starting point is 00:29:33 kid in the future but it's the same idea where there's at least that scratch you know before you scratch off that win for life ticket it's possibility right there's the there's the there's the idea that this might might turn out well like when you look at your kid for instance in this future and you're and you're trying to teach him no like don't i know the ball's scary and i'm shut i'm i'm i'm throwing the ball at you way too fast and and mike if it hits you you'll get you'll get brain damage but keep looking at it and and then eyes forward um and you have hope right and then you see he flinges all the time the guy this kid sucks this kid's fucking stinks you that's that's like when you when you when you don't you get the win for life you have uh
Starting point is 00:30:25 was one of the big lot of tickets you'd have you'd get life three times you get life twice a lot of times they don't have I don't have the algorithm these things in the printer but they print these things and it was just two lives if you know oh baby look at the third one nope that's like when you We actually see your kid play over. Oh, this kid stinks. My kid fucking stinks. Why am I surprised? Why?
Starting point is 00:30:49 Why, why? Oh, why will I be surprised? My fucking fat kid, uh, who's balding at the age of eight, uh, isn't very good at the national pastime or even cricket. But you know, you have hope. That's why I mean, I, teach him to be a religious day. teach you can't you can you teach that some people just have that kind of charisma just the same way some people can catch a ball and they can dunk a basket whatever they can play tennis some people can convince you
Starting point is 00:31:24 that you go into heaven and then and then give me some money give me some of your money and you go to heaven uh so you know god wants me to have a private plane god wants me to be rich you need to shut up and you're going up heaven and just enjoy yourself. It's a soothing thing. If I try to tell you that, you would, you know, you would lock the door and call the cops.
Starting point is 00:31:50 If I came to your door and I said, I know how to make you go to heaven. It sounds like I'm, I want to kill you. I don't even know the proper phrasing. That's, you know, these people just naturally understand people.
Starting point is 00:32:02 Um, these religious, look, there's religious people who aren't grifter. I'm not saying everyone is. But that's, that's useless to you. right that's not like what's that gonna do for you you need because no one needs that no one needs this like um like religion's very good at keeping me you know besides yeah i'm not saying i don't believe you got
Starting point is 00:32:19 i'm just from a social point of view it's very good at kind of keeping people evening out the bumps of society right evening out the idea that like it's gonna be has it's gonna be as fair as possible it could be more fair than this now sure it's not it's not could be less fair but whatever it is uh you know jesus wants it this way right like you're gonna get everything in heaven you know you can either have a private jet now and the hookers and the in the blow and the gold uh you know for 60 years for sure um or maybe you get an eternity in heaven and that guy goes to hell maybe probably
Starting point is 00:33:09 doesn't do you any good to be ambiguous like what are you going to be a suck if you don't have the things if you don't have the horrors then you know why are you sitting around doubting God just if I can go with it it's good for society
Starting point is 00:33:27 but once everyone's in you know once there's nothing going on at all you need a more aggressive religion a more financially aggressive religion. You can't have just like, yeah, we're all going to, no, because when everyone, when AI is running the world
Starting point is 00:33:43 and most of us are in jail, the meek will inherit the earth. Well, where the fuck am I? I mean, we're all meek at that point. So how am I benefiting from this? Why be good if it's just because, oh, me and six billion other people are going to inherit the earth?
Starting point is 00:33:58 Great, back to square one. No, you need an, affluent God who wants you to materially gain. And yes, it won't work and you will feel like you got had. But that's just like the cost of being having hope. I mean, it's kind of like, you know, if you go to prison right now and in the modern world, you'd want to be high. Like you go, why people, what people do?
Starting point is 00:34:25 I was watching a movie where these people were doing like, you know, whatever to do, heroin or fend or whatever in prison. It was a movie with the The black kid from the Longest Walk I forget his name, he was a good actor I was watching on a plane And
Starting point is 00:34:41 It was a past year or two And he was in prison And he's getting high And the prison just seemed rough Not the roughest thing in the world He's like doing hair and stuff Like you know, trimming people's hair On the cells
Starting point is 00:34:56 But it's just like oh it's just sweaty And humid probably and cement walls and like it's just it's just miserable and he's like start smoking and I've never like heroin or whatever never seemed so logical than I did in that moment oh yeah you'd want just to have that just to have like an hour reprie from the humidity and the smell and the stink and that's gonna be what hope is and you know like oh this guy screwed me but for like half an hour I thought you know God was gonna get me a a car or like you know um or god was going to get me a hooker i don't know whatever you
Starting point is 00:35:36 like i don't know what the robots will let us have in the future you know they'll be some creature comforts of but will you be able to like work your way up when when in in 2016 or like at a certain point is it just like you know like maybe all you can get is like um some extra cheese on your fries. But then there's that. God can get you that. It's a religious grifter. That's always going to be a place for that. Drunk drivers.
Starting point is 00:36:10 It's not really a job. There won't be, you won't even have that. You know, people love to drive drunk. I mean, that's a thing. It's not a nice thing to say. I'm not endorsing it. But people seem to really enjoy it. It seems like it's a very thrilling thing for some people.
Starting point is 00:36:31 Again, don't do it. Do not do it. But I mean, it's one of life's like small comfort, you know, small comforts, small things you got. It's like,
Starting point is 00:36:42 oh, at least I, you know, I look at my kids, you know, died and I don't, my own job and my wife left me. And I'm going to prison,
Starting point is 00:36:50 but at least for now I can drive drunk. But you won't be, because now there won't be, you'll be to even drive a car. the future it'll just be like driverless you know cars like teslas and shit robot taxis it's gonna stink um i don't know racist shit poster that might be a thing like if you can rise to prominence like you can be an influencer of some sort like yeah they'll still they'll be a version of youtube or just youtube i mean it's not why would it be other things like well when the
Starting point is 00:37:22 a i takes over yeah google's not involved in that yeah i'm sure i'm they'll be it'll be it'll be it'll be it'll It'll be YouTube. There's not going to be a startup taking it over. But however YouTube goes in the future, maybe it'll be, maybe it'll just be Mr. Beast. You know, that's this thing.
Starting point is 00:37:39 They'll be, the influencers we have aren't going anywhere. The boomers haven't gone anywhere. The boomers are now, reading an article that they, they're overwhelmingly want because there's issues about social security being insolvent or the funds being insolvent.
Starting point is 00:37:55 And boomers are very much in, support of the idea of young people having their taxes raised to pay for Social Security. I don't know why it's phrased that way. When they say younger people, they mean everyone but them? I mean, or is it like 20-year-olds have to start paying like an exorbitant amount
Starting point is 00:38:15 of their, because that makes no sense. Do we have the article here? It seems crazy to me. And we'll get back to that. We should look at the Wall Street Journal article, perhaps. But, uh, Yeah, this is from a couple weeks ago, I guess, but this, uh, poll, U.S. rumor support tax hikes on young workers to keep Social Security checks.
Starting point is 00:38:38 The view is overwhelming. Social security's trust funds now expected to run out of reserves earlier been projected. According to lace reports, the Board of Trustees report projects the depletion date for all the age and survivors' insurance. Whatever. Uh, once the reserves are gone, ongoing revenue would cover just 78% of schedule. benefits so I guess there's like you know the option is like cut the benefits I I think this happens all the time but here's the thing that money got taken by the government right from the trust fund why we just take it from a defense budget like what would they used to like that trust fund existed and they were using that for
Starting point is 00:39:17 years I believe to pay for other shit so one these other shit like why you know just cut other shit like have less don't bomb my ran and then we can maybe cover this well that wouldn't cover it shut up Jeff Bezos backs the platform lets anyone invest in rental home wait is these picks these these can't be oh this is this is articles I mean is that you can't read you can't read the news they should have other news in the middle of your news uh the accelerated depletion day is putting even more blah blah blah okay here we in fact an overwhelming 89 percent of americans over the
Starting point is 00:39:56 age of 65 so social security benefits should be protected at current levels okay even if it means taxes on younger workers this isn't even makes that preference grows weaker amongst so the phrasing is odd uh it seems like they just feel like taxes should go up perhaps now it could be wrong um but if they start raising it like if the proposal is that like anyone between the ages of 20 and 40 has like more tax than someone between 40 and 60 well that seems crazy and they're asking for war. People just don't like these boomers as it is. I'm not saying, I'm not defending them.
Starting point is 00:40:40 I'm just saying like, they better be careful. They're, you know, because they're getting very on Twitter or whatever, X.com, they're getting very, you know, flashy out there going, like, yeah, we, I don't even need the money. But if you try to take one cent, you know, for me, I'll, I'll, I'll, I'll do everything I can to stop. that's that's exactly what the vampiric vibe that people are kind of
Starting point is 00:41:05 makes people not like you boomers right I mean I don't want to be boomer I mean whatever but it's it's just a thing that I hate saying I you know but whatever but it is they really are living up to it and now I get it a lot that's a vocal few you know maybe it were the Long Island set I'm sure there's a lot of people who are quote unquote boomers who are just you know slowly dying of dementia
Starting point is 00:41:28 or, you know, rotting in their homes, whatever. Like, you know, but it's, this is, you know, wars need propaganda. I think you know, wants to admit, you know, wars need consensus. Does society no good to get involved in war? That, we didn't get involved in wars, right? But as, as we've lowered the property, and we've done, it's not like 9-11 wasn't, you know, propagandized. But as we've kind of, remember the old days of these propaganda posters?
Starting point is 00:41:58 like there was like I remember there was like a crazy stuff I you go the World War two museum was also it was the Japanese half poster of FDR as a zombie crazy stuff fun and that gets you and those people and what did that tell you those people were so unwilling to surrender that we'd nuke them that's like no they were a surrender but maybe but that whatever it's not like a loser oh we could we could we could have we could have only nuked them once hey get on the team or don't right no one wants to hear how we needlessly nuked japan a second time it might be true but no one wants to hear it the point is um regardless burbers either shut the fuck up um they're the
Starting point is 00:42:46 ones that allowed this AI uh demon to to take hold um if i hear one boomer whining about how my kid i gave my kid like you know tendon surgery um i you know i you know i I took a personal loan out or, you know, whatever. And I, the second mortgage, and I had metal put in his spine to make him better at, you know, at stealing bases. I know, this boomer's pissed because, you know, it's like, oh, the game used to be Ty Cobb and Babe Brewers.
Starting point is 00:43:17 I'll put the gun right. You know, don't, don't, you don't cut that shit out. No one needs that. Every advantage is going to matter, right? You're going to want your kids. I mean, like, I'm not saying you have to train, you know, make your kids trans or whatever, but like you're going to want, if you have a boy, try to get him into a girls league. Do it.
Starting point is 00:43:37 Oh, it's not fair. How's that going to have that working out for you? But not all it's not fair. Shut up. You know, let him dominate. I don't get into. Oh, but not combat sports. Hey, look, the alternative to society is people just beating to each other to death with sticks.
Starting point is 00:43:56 Okay. that's what nature is don't like I'm not saying that you should be hitting you know it sounds horrible um but you know I'm not the one again well Mike I'm I'm going to get my kids I'll try to get my kid to be like a some kind of you know male cheerleader maybe or something something fun uh because I just have a feeling he's not gonna he's if I try to get him into a combat situation I mean maybe he's I guess he could drive against women perhaps I don't think he's going to The key is the thing about fighting and boxing. You never know.
Starting point is 00:44:30 Like you're having you might have a glass jaw. You could train perfectly, beautifully trained. You could, you could show boxing at the wind. You could hit the speed bag like a like, like speedy Gonzalez. You could have an incredible hook, a cross and a jab and uppercut.
Starting point is 00:44:47 And I think this is true. You could just, you could just have a glass jaw, like where you, you get, because when you get knocked out, it's like about you hit the guy the button which is right in the like the mandible here or whatever and that vibrates the skull
Starting point is 00:45:02 to the point where your brain skull jumps around a bit and then it little short circuits and that's what getting knocked out is you know if i'm wrong about that i don't care that's basically the gist of it so you can't prepare for that i mean you probably should know that you probably like if you if you if your kid wants to get into boxing you should have some other kids who's good at boxing him in the face few times to see how he holds up always you're wasting your time if you're not doing that i mean i guess is like i guess if you're training if you use this or he in the real world he can defend himself i guess being able to throw punches is better like you know either way he's getting knocked out if it gets hit so maybe maybe teach him not get hit i guess but don't make it don't don't don't you
Starting point is 00:45:47 don't i don't think you need to like spend years of boxing to be to do that um it's hard sport though Heart sport. I think it is horrible. Again, this, this is, uh, nowadays in order to get certain opportunities, you have to pay money, says Carlos O'Villow, the National Director of Disease Athletics. Frequent participation in baseball has fallen 28% since 2014 in families of annual income of less than 100 grand. So if you're making less than 100 grand, you're 28% less likely to be in baseball.
Starting point is 00:46:24 according to data from the sports and fitness industry association, which sounds like a lot of mean group, whatever, in the same period of participation has increased 21% and families making more than 100%. See, it used to be a thing where like, oh, poor kids, like your only option was to be an athlete. Now that's true for like, you know, I mean, maybe not rich, rich kids, but like, you know,
Starting point is 00:46:47 like 100 grand's not rich. It'd be nice, but it's not rich in this day and age. but whatever like you instead it's really the class of people who would be getting put into into to try to compete you know because if you went to harvard and you're rich your kids go to harvard you can he can be embroiled in some scandal um or whatever uh you know he just he just you know hate you know john ham can haze him uh in a frat you know oh no john ham hit my kid too hard now he you know i mean john han from madman there was some scandal looking at the frat and he hit the kids like i mean look these guys he's frack that guy wanted to be a
Starting point is 00:47:27 shitty frat guy too though that's the thing i mean i'm not saying like abuse people but that guy was like putting himself in a situation so he could do that to people i mean that's my understanding of frats i don't know i wasn't in one um but there's time to pay for something it's always like oh my gosh it's so expensive says paul mendoza a los angeles mother well shut up and pay uh the price of playing baseball passes soccer and basketball, the other most popular use sports. Between 2019-2020-2020, average family spending on baseball jumped more than 68%
Starting point is 00:48:02 from 660 to 1113 annually. The average hides the cost of that sports-focused families face. Annual club fees can reach six grand. Six grand to have your kid play fucking baseball. This is insane. And the cost of traveling to tournaments can potentially double or even triple that. youth bats go over 500 and gloves for 400 private pitching and hitting coaches charging up with $200 an hour have become routine for children as young as eight and sales of backyard batting cages at cost around 25 grand are surging hey dad daddy can i have 25 grand for a batting cage no i'm how about this how about this you know about baseball you you're good enough baseball and need a batting cage for 25 grand
Starting point is 00:48:52 is that true son let's put that to the test will you mean daddy we're gonna take this 25 grand um i'm assuming i'll have 25 grand i don't know what i didn't even where's even come from i i have i i steal from you know i steal it from the bank where i work i don't even know who's getting 25 grand i mean i must say no like yeah some people can save them that you might spend on a batting cage. I'm not saying like it's a down payment of a house or whatever. I'm saying for a bat, whatever. So hey, regardless,
Starting point is 00:49:28 let's just assume I have it. I'm putting my stupid fat son to the test. If you know so much about baseball, you need this expensive ass batting cage you were asking me for. It's kind of a scummy thing to ask for. How about you, we're going to bet that money on fandual.com or one of those things.
Starting point is 00:49:49 Who is, who, which baseball player i bet on and he'll fucking he'll fucking i'm sure he'll you know he'll ruin me i probably won't place the bed because i'll he'll just feel fold under the pressure i don't have any confidence of my son 25 gram imagine being so confident in your son you you buy him a fucking why he's made why don't you just throw the ball at him that's a thing you know baseball should be a thing where your dad teaches to play baseball and he goes and dies in the coal mine And you may be, you know, you work in the coal mine too.
Starting point is 00:50:25 And I'm describing the plot of October sky, but whatever. And then, you know, and you have black lung as a kid, but you also play little league and you drink, you know, you're a drinking problem by the age of 12. And then maybe you make it in the major leagues. But we've ruined that by optimizing everything. This optimization is for the birds. Why are we optimizing anything?
Starting point is 00:50:46 You know, we should have stopped progressing in like the 70s probably, right? we didn't you go oh the 90s are actually good yeah but that was too close to it all you need the computers we should have just not gotten computers they should have been computers for like you whatever they have mainframes but the whole personal computer thing once you have that and you have scumbacks you know on the internet back then playing doom really which is fun it must be so fun being early doom player or you know online whatever over modems regardless This optimization is no good. U-Sports overall is now a $40 billion a year industry
Starting point is 00:51:29 with private equity investors driving much of the growth. Oh, private equity, that's good guys. A name, image, and likeness compensation is turning the talent of younger and younger athletes into money-making opportunities. In baseball, the biggest corporate player is perfect game, which puts on nearly 10,000 tournaments, showcases and other events a year.
Starting point is 00:51:50 The Florida-based private company has his hand and everything from uniforms and other apparel to family hotel bookings. Perfect game. This is perfect. I honestly, I'm not a smirching perfect game. I don't get sued.
Starting point is 00:52:05 But it does make me think of the foot clan from Ninja Turtles. Perfect. I mean, the idea of any kind of company, and I feel the same way about toy companies, Lego, anyone making money off kids should be, you know, put them in jail. It's not working.
Starting point is 00:52:21 It hasn't done it. is any good. You know, all these toy companies and these video game companies, they haven't helped anyone. We're facing down the barrel of a generational gun. I like playing Nintendo. I like Zelda. I like Mario. I love the great. It doesn't help. It hasn't helped us. I love the Lego. What's that done for us? Nothing. We should go back to a time when the only thing, the only company is making anything for kids was Bazooka Joe Gum. that awful gum with the comic isn't it? The bubble gum?
Starting point is 00:52:56 Enough of this shit. Maybe model trains. It's all so crazy. People see a way to make money and they're going to make money, said Perfect Game Founder Jerry Ford, a former college coach who sold this majority stake in the company four years ago and now runs a charitable foundation
Starting point is 00:53:13 that offers free baseball programs for low-income children. That's nice. It's nice to build this behemoth, sell it off to private equity, who of course are going to do all the right things you know that and then oh but i donate uh some money i run a charity now i give poor kids uh false hope nice right nice good for you you know it's just uh maybe a barber maybe become a barber by saying it correctly barber cut someone's hair um
Starting point is 00:53:49 it's the kind thing you can do and brother i saw the guy doing in prison it's the kind of thing in prison will pay you um, ramen for is robin still the currency or two in the packets of tuna fish? That's you know that the people will pay each other. I think someone in that movie was watching will pay each other in tuna fish cans. I like that money should be tuna fish. If we're gonna have a prison society, why can our currency be tuna fish? That makes sense.
Starting point is 00:54:19 You know, because the biggest thing people say about money now is true is there was I'm they understand money you go oh money it's like you know it's not worth anything but but you wouldn't want to be like inherently worth that money I mean it can be like gold is like it's the more useful something is it's not really is the best use of money you know you don't want something that you're always using to be money you know tuna fish but that being said so you know whatever people like the idea that money should have inherent worth like well why am I why would you're all for money like this is an idiot way of thinking about because you know you used money to buy other things.
Starting point is 00:54:54 It's a medium of exchange. Money is fake. I get that, but that's not, but not because it's, it's just paper. No, what's just currency? My point is, it will say, it will soothe the nerves of people
Starting point is 00:55:07 to be able to transact in tuna fish cans for their, for their needed transactions. It will just make people feel better about their lot in life. It's just a nice thing. Oh, how much for that dress? I'm only about that prom dress for my daughter.
Starting point is 00:55:26 She's graduating from prison school next week. And you go, well, it's, that'll be six, six solid white tunas or what's the other one, chunk, chunk light? Either six cans of solid white or 12 cans of chunk light. And you know, God, I mean, geez, I'm old enough to remember when we had money, not these, not just transacting tuna. And he got, and he'll put a gun in my face. Hey, I don't have time for your bullshit old man. You want the dress or not shove the tuna in my mouth.
Starting point is 00:56:02 Your mouth, you're not my mouth, literally. You know, pull the cans out of your bag. I'm not feeding him too. I mean, imagine that, though. I imagine that way happening. If tuna becomes money, and you have to, and you're kind of, you're always under the thumb in the future.
Starting point is 00:56:20 Very few people will not be under someone's thumb. or you know on the back foot and there'll be guy it'll be it'll be a lot of situations where there'll be some guy who's like hey you want to buy this feed me the tuna um i'm not saying i would i'm just saying but that'll come up and you and you go no fuck you you and you fight them maybe uh and he knocks you out and god knows what happens when he knocks you out who knows what happens after that you wake up and you've been a you know you've got new holes awful. So maybe it makes sense to not fucking, you know, just, just feeding the tuna. I hate to say it. I hate to say it. Um, discretion is the better form of valor sometimes. Yes, it's good to be,
Starting point is 00:57:02 to have integrity. Uh, but don't, but never put yourself in a situation where you're, when you get knocked out and you're, and you're at the whim of, of a mob of people. They'll just do whatever to you. Uh, it's not good. Uh, Um, but back to, so he runs a charitable foundation that offers free baseball programs to low income children.
Starting point is 00:57:24 He acknowledged that for-profit baseball grows bigger every year. I don't know what anyone can do about it. Well, you started a company and sold it. That's kind of leading the charge on this. So, but yeah,
Starting point is 00:57:35 who knows what you can do? It's like, all right. Like, I don't know. Who can do anything? It's like, it's like fucking,
Starting point is 00:57:40 Barack Zuckerberg. I'm being like, like, well, I have Facebook is, fucking. What is, they do? People are mad about the fucking movies coming out on Facebook.
Starting point is 00:57:51 Like what happened with the whole Cambridge end? I mean people in the trailer he's saying like well I'm not going to tell people this or lies but what's the whole thing? It was being co-opted by like foreign intelligence. Maybe not. I guess it's a hard thing to legislate. I don't want you know. Yeah, just how about you stop reading memes. That is a fair point. It might be the only solution. Because everything else is just like, you know, maybe it's not much. Or maybe you can kind of reckon. I don't know, maybe there's a few things you can.
Starting point is 00:58:25 Don't have to like stop people from talking about COVID completely or whatever. But if you realize there's like, you know, PR companies like, you know, flooding the algorithm. I don't know. Maybe you can do something. I'm not assigned data scientists. I don't know. Point is, uh, it's like Zuckerberg going, who can even imagine this? This is Facebook.
Starting point is 00:58:46 Where is this? You made this thing. I was a crazy analogy I was trying to make connecting to the guy with the baseball company the point is we all know the point it's time to stop being children and to start raising your kids properly
Starting point is 00:59:03 and it means giving them the proper tools teach them to be a hacker I guess is that viable I wish I knew anything about hacking it seems so liberating to be able to hack I wonder if that will even be possible the more technology can you can a human hacker even compete with an AI
